Hello

I have not fell off the face of the earth. I've had sooooooo much going on. To top it all off, My Dad was hanging up Christmas lights and fell off the roof of his house. He has a very bad concusion (sp), several, several stitches on his face, bad brusises and a broken arm.For about 30 min. after his woke up from his fall he didn't know anything or anyone. My Mom found him laying in the driveway in a pool of blood & called 911. He's doing much better but please keep him in your prayers.

We just got home from KY (went back up there after work). He seems to be doing a little better tonight. I'll keep you all posted.

I must get in the bed...I'm about to fall out. I'm really tired.

I'll post when I can. Please don't give up on me...

I really love you all....

12-01-2005, 06:37 AM
Sherry-I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sending more healing prayers your way.

Cheryl-Happy Anniversary! Those earrings sound beautiful. I can't believe it's been 1 year already. Time just flies by so quick.

Dee-What are you doing at the gym when the dr. ordered you not to go??

Suzy-I'm getting highlights done on the 17th. What color is your hair? Why not post a picture on our picture thread? We would love to know who we are "talking to." Most of us have already done so.

12-01-2005, 08:42 AM

12-01-2005, 10:38 AM
CHERYL, HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY! Stewart did good with the earrings...they sound beautiful!

Sher, I hope your dad gets along he in the hospital? So glad your mom was around to find him. Keep us updated! How is waynes thumb??

Doni, I'm wishing everyone has a nice Christmas and if employers give bonuses, all the girls here benefit. Steves job gives an annual bonus and we soooo look forward to it. The money goes toward Christmas presents and paying our property tax due the week before Christmas.

Suzy, congrats on the pound loss!!! You are on a roll! GREAT JOB! What plan are you following?

12-01-2005, 12:33 PM
Sherry don't worry about not posting. I understand because I have been very busy here too. I know that when things settle down you will be back here everyday keeping us in line. My prayers are being said for your Dad. Fortunetly he will be ok. That is pretty scarey. Is Wayne able to work with his injured thumb? By the way reading your post I could tell you were very tired. I love the Christmas banner that you have welcoming us.

Shelley I am stuborn like you. I just need my exercise. I love it. I am trying to do exercise that keeps my heart rate lower.

Doni I hope that it works out with the extra money at christmas. I will pray for all your expenses to be covered. I was looking at your weight loss counter. Wow you have almost lost 50 pounds. You are doing awesome. Keep on losing.

Gayle are your finances looking better now that you are working? Are they managable now? I know that christmas must be tough. What is on little Allison's list this year? It is so much fun having a little one around for christmas. This is the first year that we don't have any of our kids living at home. It is sad but I haven't had much time to think about it. Can you imagine if that was you? We are the same age.

Suzy it is tough to lose weight at this time of year with all the extra treats and parties happenning. You are doing a great job.

Cheryl I can't believe that it is a year already. I bet it went fast for you. You sound so happy with the earrings. Your Prince knows you well. I am happy for you.

Time to answer my washing machine. I have alot to do before we leave saturday. Friday night we will be at a dinner and a christmas play called the living christmas tree. It is our friends from the aqua class at the Y. It should be fun.

Time to go. Love you all.

12-02-2005, 10:33 AM
I'll be back later, just wanted to share an email I received from Ramona this morning.

Hi Gayle. I just wanted to give you an update. Dan is out of ICU and is doing well. He still doesn't have any movement in his legs, but we haven't given up hope yet. He will be moving to a rehab hospital in Houston, Texas sometime next week. It is a VA facility and they will be paying for his treatment. This is real blessing since he didn't have any insurance. I'll be going back to Little Rock tomorrow for the weekend. Love you all and make sure your kids are buckled up!

12-02-2005, 10:40 AM
I can't imagine Christmas without doing the Santa thing Dee. Liz has benefited through the years being so much older then Allison, we have included her in the Santa presents when it should of stopped years ago. LOL!
My oldest celebrated her 21st on Wednesday, now the next one will be 7 yrs. mid-month! Man! I feel old!
Finances are the same....I needed a new car so basically my work money makes the payment/insurance/taxes etc.

12-02-2005, 01:58 PM
Sherry, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's accident! It sounds like he's going to need some time to recover, but I'm glad he wasn't hurt any worse than what he was! It must have been very frightening for you all! I will be praying for a full and fast recovery for him.

Shelley, my hair is dark brown. I just have subtle highlights put in to help hide the gray ;) ...the highlights come out a pretty copper color. I'll get out the camera and see about changing my avatar...I agree, it's nice to put a face to the name. :)

Doni, I hope your Christmas bonus comes through as expected! It sure would be disappointing if you didn't get it when you're really counting on it!

Gayle, I'm basically counting calories and watching my portions. I try to keep my calorie count between 1200 and 1500, but there are days when I do go over that. I think relearning portion sizes has been the most important step towards my successes so far. I really haven't changed what I eat that much...just how much I eat of it! I used to think nothing of eating a huge bowl of ice cream (4 big scoops!) before I went to bed each night. I don't eat ice cream that often now, but when I do I make sure that it's portioned to what the label says (1/2 cup) and that I count the calories!

Dee, I'm glad to hear that you are taking it easy...I know it's hard for you! Have you received any results from your tests yet?

Ramona, I'm so glad to hear that Dan is out of ICU and continuing to do well! My prayers continue for Dan and the rest of your family. (Gayle, thanks so much for keeping us updated!)

12-02-2005, 06:58 PM
I am getting ready to go to the Living Christmas Tree Muscial and dinner. There will be 28 people from the Y going. It should be fun.

Tomorrow morning we will be leaving for Vegas. Larry said that we will have a lap top that has internet so I will be posting. I will keep in touch.

Have a good weekend.

12-02-2005, 08:39 PM

We just got done eating and wanted to pop-in and say hello before we head to KY to see Mom & Dad.

Dad didn't like the orthopedic doctor who the ER recommended so Mom made
an appointment with the doctor she used a few years ago here in Nashville. He went this morning. He found that his arm is not only broke but his elbow is CRUSHED! Surgery will be Tuesday morning. They will put a rod in it. He looks so bad, it's hard to describe. Bless his heart.

Wayne's thumb is really bothering him tonight. I think all the lifting he does at work has taken it's toll on it. He went back to work the next day after cutting it. Monday will be 14 days since he cut it. He'll have his stitches out then. Hopefully it will be healed by then.

When my life slows down I'll be able to post to everyone again.
Have a great weekend.

Love to all.....

12-03-2005, 01:16 AM
Sherry I am sending a speedy recover to both your dad and Wayne. I will be praying for your Dad's surgery to be sucessful and for him to feel much better.

I am off to bed, got a busy day tomorrow.

12-03-2005, 05:52 AM
Sherry-My friend just had a rod put in her arm last week because it was crushed from a fall. Prayers to your dad and Wayne.

Gayle-Thanks for the update on Dan.

Dee-I thought you were just in Las Vegas for your anniversary. Of course, you know me, I can't remember anything anymore! Have a nice trip.

Suzy-It sounds like my hair is the same color as yours. My hairdresser says she is going to do subtle highlights in my hair too. She already colors it to hide the gray, so she will need to perioxide it. Do post a picture!

Oh, Becky got her first acceptance letter from a college. This one is the University of Central Fl. in Orlando. That wouldn't be too far away. She is waiting for more, though.

12-03-2005, 02:34 PM
Ok Shelley, I uploaded my picture this morning to use as my avatar. :)

Congratulations to Becky on her acceptance to the University of Central FL!

Sherry, safe travels to you. I'll be saying extra prayers for your dad when he has his surgery on Tuesday.

Safe travels to you too Dee! I hope you have a great trip!

12-03-2005, 05:48 PM
Suzy-You are a cute Floozie! We have the same color hair. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

12-03-2005, 08:44 PM
Suzy, you are as cute as can be! Just as I pictured, a pretty smiling face to go along with your open personality!

Shelley, don't feel bad, I didn't realize Dee was going to Vegas again either. TELL BECKY CONGRAT ON HER ACCEPTANCE LETTER! How far would this put her from home?

Sher, bless your poor dads heart! Thank goodness your mom was there with him! Praying for his speedy recovery!!! How is Waynes thumb tonight? I bet after working all day, it just throbs terribly. When will you have your test ran??? Am I asking enough questions??? LOL!

Dee, have fun on round #2 in Vegas! You lucky girl!!!!

Are you girls ready for Christmas? I have yet to do any decorating here at home. I'm finishing up on Steves Christmas and I pretty much know what I want to get everyone else, just waiting for some moola to magically appear!!!
BTW: My boss paid me time & a half for working Thanksgiving eve day and the hard work we put in. This was a nice surprise! As I was thanking her for the extra pay, she told me to expect another raise on the next check. As of this next check I have been there for 4 months...not bad I guess, 2 raises in 4 months! I'll take it!!!
Liz had a date tonight with a young man who I hope she decides to like and continue to see!!! He is well mannered, well groomed, polite, nice looking and seems to be very sincere. As they left, he opened doors etc. He was actually even taking her out to eat at a nice sit down place instead of fast food! I'm wondering if it will go any further then the first date, usually if I like them they do not end up hanging around long! LOL!

12-04-2005, 06:38 AM
Gayle-Wow! There was no doubt in my mind that you would be their best employee. You deserve every little thing they give you, and more. Good luck on Liz's new boyfriend. If Becky went to UCF, it would only put her about 4 hrs from home. I really don't think she'll choose it though. She wants to go to FSU in Tallahassee.

I have almost all of Patty's Hanukkah done. I still have 3 more days to go for her. I've only gotten 1 day so far for Becky. It starts Christmas Day night this year, so it's quite late. I have ordered everything online so far. My mom and I went to the mall yesterday, and I just can't handle the madness around there. Also, everything looks the same when you go into all the stores.

Mike's staff party was last night, and it was quite nice. They gave every employee a $300.00 bonus. That was totally unexpected. It was open bar and a very nice sit down dinner with a DJ. I get so intimidated in these kinds of settings, but it turned out just fine. Especially when the lady sitting next to me looked at my plate, and we had the same things on them. Turns out she is on Core also, so I had plenty to talk about after that.

12-05-2005, 09:02 AM
SHELLEY, GREAT JOB STAYING OP FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARTY!! I bet you guys can use the money to help out with the holidays. I'm just waiting for Steves check to get here...I know what I want to get everyone, just waiting for the green stuff!! LOL!

If you haven't yet, check out the home page here. There are new updated before & after pics of the original 3 fat chicks. All three look amazing!

It snowed last night...BLAHHHHH!!! I'm up early so I can get Allison off to school earlier if the roads are bad. Steve is out of town until later tonight so I'm on my own again.

Can you girls help me come up with something I can prepare for Christmas day at my moms house? We will be at the inlaws until in the afternoon, so it needs to be something I can prepare & reheat or possibly even make now & freeze. It will be under 10 people...I will be doing all the baking and cooking, but I also work Christmas eve day, so I need stuff not too time consuming. I even considered doing something non-traditional like sandwiches etc. HELP!

12-05-2005, 06:34 PM
You girls are good for my ego! :thanks:

Gayle, what about lasagna, tossed salad and garlic bread? That's our traditional Christmas eve meal. Lasagna freezes great or you could make it up the day before and just keep it in the refrigerator until you're ready to bake it. (Just make sure if you do make it ahead that you use a glass pan and wrap it in plastic not foil, so the tomato sauce doesn't react to the metal pan or foil.)

I still have a lot of shopping to do! Hubby has a meeting in Lancaster on Wednesday (4 hours from here), so I'm going along and shopping at the mall there for the day while he is at his meeting. Hopefully I'll be able to put a big dent in my list...that mall is huge!

12-05-2005, 06:41 PM
Gayle-I agree with Suzy. That's the perfect make and freeze meal.

Becky got another acceptance letter today. This was from USF in Tampa, which of course is my choice. But then again, why would she care what I think? She's a teenager. Talk about hormones!! Yesterday, she slammed out of the house saying that she had 10,000 things to do for school and can't handle it here because she can't concentrate. 30 minutes later, her friend's mom called to say that she was over there doing her paper and wanted us to know where she was. The night before that, she called us at the Xmas party crying because nobody was home and she didn't know where everybody was. I had only been talking about this party for at least 2 weeks. Oh well, WHATEVER!!!

12-05-2005, 09:20 PM
Gayle - I love your ticker. I posted this morning then forgot to hit the post quick reply button DUH!!
Shelley - I know how you felt at the Christmas party. I would feel like that too. I am not good at small talk. I always think people will find me totally boring.
Sherry - I hope your Dad has a speedy recovery.
I am saying special prayers for Dan and for Ramona and all the family.
Suzy - You are a cutie!
Doni-Where are you? I hope you're okay.

12-06-2005, 10:58 AM
Shelley, I feel for you! TWO teenage daughter with raging hormones! Bless your heart & Mikes!! LOL! Mike probably feels alot like Steve. Steve thinks he is surrounded by females with PMS. LOL!

Janice, I thought the ticker was kinda cute too. Now if only I can get the scale to move! It's not moving mostly because of lack of motivation from me. I know it is probably an excuse, but by the time I deal with work, family, parents etc. I'm too tired to deal with watching my eating 24/7.

I spoke to mom yesterday & I think we are going to do something along the line of philly sandwiches. I can prepare the meat ahead of time, wafer it and add the onion & green pepper. I can then freeze it until we need it, then thaw, toss on rolls and add some cheese if desired. I will add a few salads etc. and I think we will be good to go. Thanks for the suggestion of lasagna, in fact lasagna or enchiladas were my first thought. This sounds terrible, but my SIL brings a relative of hers to our dinner every single year...(another story) anyways, the lady has a mental handicap and eating around her can be a challenge at times. I wanted something I could prepare and have ready to just pickup, so food isn't getting handled alot, plus if it is spilled for any reason, cleanup won't be a problem. I hope this doesn't sound horrible of me...

I hope life is treating everyone well! Dee is probably still in Vegas, Sher is taking care of dad & Wayne....wonder where our other Floozies are??????

Ramona, thinking of you each & every day! Praying Dan is making a productive recovery and your family is coping through all of this ok.

Temps here are to only be in the teens today...5* forecast for tomorrow along with snow showers tonight & in the morning. Up to 3" is predicted...FUN, FUN, FUN! I'm heading your way Shelley!!!!!! LOL!

See ya later chickies!!!!

12-07-2005, 12:54 AM
Now they are saying we could have up to 8" over the next few days! No snow here yet... although with the wind chill it is 8 below!!!

12-08-2005, 09:31 PM
Where Is Everyone?

12-08-2005, 11:34 PM
I was just going to ask the same question!

We were out of town yesterday (hubby had meetings all day and I tagged along to shop at the mall). We got home late last night and I spent the day today getting ready for the snow storm...they are calling for over a foot for us!

12-09-2005, 06:41 AM
I haven't been feeling too well. Things are hectic at school, and I am a bit depressed over everything going on there. Sorry, I just haven't had the time to post much. I haven't logged any runs other than Sunday this week either. I've been eating stuff I shouldn't (last night I had about 10 Ritz crackers.) I think the not running is part of my depression. I just haven't felt like it. I am going to go on a fairly long run tomorrow.

I hope everyone is doing better than me!

12-09-2005, 10:33 AM
Shelley, sweetie, are you taking your medication?? Maybe even if you get out and go on a long peaceful walk, it will clear you head a bit. I hope things at work improve and your not being taken advantage of like in the past. HUGS sent to you sweetie!~

Suzy, you can have ALL the snow! We had a storm hit earlier in the week, not as much snow as predicted but we did have temps of 15 below with the wind chill. I'm sending "warm sunshine" vibes that the white stuff heads away from you guys!

12-10-2005, 03:17 PM
WOW! I can't believe how slow we are here!!!

Shelley, I experimented today and invented a CORE taco soup. Everyone even liked it! It is fast and easy, if you want the recipe, I'll post it. I used ground beef, but I think chicken would be good in it too.

Suzy, did you guys get the snow like expected?

Working on odds & ends today....need to get in gear and get my Christmas cards made out. I usually have the tree up and cards done by the week or two after Thanksgiving. I can't seem to get motivated this holiday season!

What is everyones holiday plans???

We will have Christmas at home in the morning, then go on up to Steves folks house late morning for gifts and lunch. Then we will go to my moms for late afternoon gifts and dinner. I'm making a few salads for the in-laws and am preparing the entire meal for at my moms house. I still need to get my Christmas shopping done!

Wishing everyone a safe & happy weekend!

12-10-2005, 11:51 PM
Tis the season Shelley...take care of yourself and don't let this depression get out of control! Like Gayle said...there are lots of medications out there that really do help if you need it.

We ended up with about 8 inches of snow, so I got lots of exercise shoveling! I sure hope Santa brings me that treadmill's much to slippery to walk now!

Gayle, I make a philly steak type sandwich, but it's made with hamburger. Hubby says he even likes it better than cheese steaks!

Mock Steak and Everything Sandwich

1 lb. ground beef
1 green pepper chopped
1 can sliced mushrooms
1 medium onion chopped
1/4 lb. mozzarella cheese grated
1/4 lb mild cheese grated

Brown hamburger and drain. Season with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Add mushrooms, onions and peppers. When veggies are cooked through add cheeses and heat through. Spoon into hot long buns.

I have made this ahead of time and put in the crockpot set on warm. If you were going to make it way ahead of time I would leave the cheese out and add it after reheating.

12-11-2005, 02:10 AM
Recipe sounds good Suzy!!! I will run it past my "food committee" to see what they think! It would be so much easier then cooking and wafering a roast! I hope Santa brings you a treadmill! I had one until mom finished her physical therapy, then I gave her ours. I miss it but I can't complain... She is very faithful to it and goes 30 minutes or so everyday.

12-11-2005, 06:42 AM
Gayle-I'd love the taco soup recipe.

Today is the staff Christmas party. I hope to just be there for a bit. They are barbecuing. I had to order it all---whole chickens, pork ribs, potato salad, cole slaw, apple pies, baked beans. Not one thing that I am interested in eating for lunch. I'm picking up my friend that broke her arm then going around 2:00. The party is at the cafeteria manager's house, which is right near the school, so it's not in a very safe area, but I'm sure everyone will have fun.

Suzy-That recipe sounds delicious. It could be made into a somewhat Core recipe if you add fat free cheese instead.

I am very worried about Dan. Gayle, have you heard from Ramona at all?

12-11-2005, 03:47 PM

1# lean ground beef (browned)
1 package taco seasoning (I used walmart brand)
2-14 oz cans 99% FF beef broth
1-15.25 oz can corn (undrained)
1-14.5 oz can petite diced tomatoes
1-14.5 oz can diced potatoes (drained, rinsed)

Cook on stovetop around 45 minutes, stirring often. I tried something a little one in my family likes beans so this is why I added the corn/potatoes.

12-11-2005, 03:48 PM
I haven't heard from Ramona, I need to send her an email though.

I hope everyone is having a SUPER weekend! I'm Christmas decorating...oh joy!!!

12-11-2005, 07:17 PM
I had a few minutes and wanted to check in. Dan was transferred to Houston, Texas last Thursday. Things are really, really bad there and he is in terrible shape. I just finished booking airline reservations and we will fly there tomorrow. I can't even begin to tell you here what he has been going through there. They basically told him to forget about ever getting better and just deal with it. They have left him by himself in a bed with no rails for three days. He already has bed sores and they won't even help him clean up when he has to use the bathroom. I have already written emails to every Congressman and Senator and I am not beyond going to the White House. This is a Veterans hospital and they treat everyone there the same way. Dan was crying so hard he could hardly talk. I'm going to bring my baby home and heads are going to roll!!!!! They haven't even bothered to give him any antibiotic since he's been there and his incision is infected. They told him they might have to open him back up. OVER MY DEAD BODY! They aren't touching him! Sorry to rant, but I have never been so upset and disgusted in all my life. I'll let you know when we get home.
Love you all.......

12-11-2005, 11:09 PM
Oh Ramona, I'm so sorry to hear how Dan has been treated in Houston. I'm glad that you're taking charge and having him one deserves to be treated that way! Please know that Dan is in my prayers daily as well as you and the rest of your family. Safe travels to you and please keep us posted on how things are going!

12-12-2005, 01:10 AM
Ramona, is there anyway Dan can get on some type of assistance such as medicaid? I'm assuming he probably doesn't own much since he is single, maybe without too much personal property and money, he could qualify. This would be so much better then the treatment he is receiving at the VH. My father went to a veterans hospital when he had cancer, he received the same type of treatment as you described with Dan. We ended up removing him from the hospital and taking him home. I assumed because it was an older hospital dealing primarly with older vets, this was the way it was. Sad to hear the treatment of our young military personnel is no different. Prayers continue to be sent, praying also for extra strength for your family to help you through the tough times ahead.

12-12-2005, 07:02 AM
Ramona-How horrible! How can they treat an honorable military man like that? I keep you and Dan in my prayers daily. It's a shame the way the VA treats our men that fight for our country.

12-12-2005, 12:40 PM
Hi Girls just wanted to pop in and let you know that we got home late saturday night. We had a glamourous time. I will tell you more details later. How do you like my new pic. We took it in Vegas. I thought that you must be tired of looking at my back side. lol I am just heading out for a walk with Desiree.

Ramona my heart goes out to you. I will be praying for Dan and your family. God will not put you through more than you can handle. Trust in him. I know that this is very hard hard for you to go through.

12-12-2005, 03:31 PM
Beautiful picture Dee! It's nice to SEE you and welcome home! I'm glad to hear that you had a good trip! I'm looking forward to hearing the details...or was it one of those "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" trips? ;)

12-12-2005, 05:45 PM
Here is an email that I recieved today that I would like to share with you,

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting
with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities
of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass
thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

"Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom
of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much
you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have,
you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them
now and then; do things with them. And remember that "Sisters" also means your
girlfriends, your daughters, and other women relatives too. You'll need other
women. Women always do."

'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just gotten
married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for
goodness sake! A grownup. Surely my husband and the family we may
start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more
women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she
gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking
about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a
woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't call when they say they will.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favours.
Careers end.

Girlfriends are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.
A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself,
your girlfriends will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you,
pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you.
Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, daughter-in-laws, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mother, aunties,
nieces, cousins, and extended family, bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without them, and neither would I. When we began
this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.

To the women who help make my life work...

12-12-2005, 05:50 PM
Suzy, thank you. I was reading your bio this morning. We have so much in common. Our children are about the same ages but I am not a Grandma yet. You are only a year older than Gayle and I. Larry worked for a heating sheet metal shop for a few years. Now he works for a company that puts silencers in duct work.

Are you all ready for Christmas? We are going to start putting up our tree tonight. With all the traveling I haven't had time. Thankfully most of the gifts are wrapped and the rest of the decorations are up. I just have a few gifts to buy.

12-12-2005, 07:01 PM
Dee-Your picture is beautiful, and so is the email that you shared with us. It says it all!!

12-12-2005, 11:37 PM

Go To #59........A New Thread Has Been Started!!!!!!
