Good morning, Monet and Talitha!

Just a quickie: Shelley has bronchitis. At least we have something to call is and a way to treat it and she won't become paralyzed. So, I was sitting in the doctor's office after getting her chest X-rayed and there was another mom and daughter that just had chest X-rays. So, I asked if they had recently given her a flu shot and she said yes, she had and hasn't been the same since. Never again. So, she's being nebulized three times a day and taking another antibiotic and is doing much, much better already.

Today I'm taking Kyle to the remedial reading teacher to have him analyzed for his reading comprehension. This is the same teacher that seemed as though she didn't believe me that he was reading already last spring, but I've brought Kyle to her a few times and she's impressed with his abilities at 4 years old, so she wants to evaluate him to see just where he is exactly so I know where to take him from at home because they don't exactly teach 1st grade level reading in preschool. She's going to evaluate his penmanship, how he holds his pencil, math, etc. I have to sort of home school him in order to get him to proceed from here, is what it's about, and preschool is going to be for him to learn to get along with everyone and listen to the teachers, etc. But I don't want him to stop learning so I have to teach him these things at home.

Anyhow...I have been thinking about my intake of starchy carbs and basically, bread. I love it, but I need to cut back on it and could easily eat it at every meal...toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, bread and butter at dinner. So, I'm trying to decide which meals I can come up with a meal that doesn't incorporate a starchy carb. For instance, breakfast can be scrambled eggs with cheese on top; lunch, a protien smoothie, etc. So, for breakfast I had scrambled eggs and if I go all day without any bread, I'll treat myself to bread and butter with dinner.

Oh...and MMM...I'm down one. 159. Big whoop. It'll probably be back tomorrow. :(

Okay...off to get in the shower!!

Good Monday Morning:

I am so tired this morning. Lane has a little bit of a cold, and Britt woke up sniffling and sneezing last night. I was up with Britt a few times, and then up with Lane many times. She woke up once to go to the bathroom, and then several times for me to lay with her (I think she was having bad dreams). I hope I can get her to take a nap today, so I can. BUT, when she naps during the day, she doesn't want to go to bed at night....such a dilemma (ha).

I am on a hot tea kick. Celestial Seasonings has some great holiday flavors out....Nutcracker spice, peppermint, Gingerbread spice (my favorite). They are good plain, but I like to add a drop of agave in them. They are so yummy.
Britt has been asking if she can have hot tea too. I just make sure it is caffeine-free, and let her have all she wants. She likes the green tea honey chamomile. It's much better for her than some of the alternatives.

Monet: Did you not sleep well? Is that why you started the board at midnight? I hope you get some sleep and enjoy your holiday week.

Talitha: That's great that you are still working out while pregnant; it may make all the difference throughout the pregnancy and when it comes time to deliver. I always wanted to workout while pregnant, but was told with both pregnancies that I could not, since I was high risk. Have you found out yet when your due date is?

Tech: I am so sorry to hear about Shelley; what a pain to deal with. You try to protect your child by immunizing them, and this is what you get, eh? I sure hope she if feeling better soon! As far as the bread goes, I am sure most will tell you that it doesn't matter when you eat it (calories in/calories out). BUT, I really think you should eat your starchy carbs earlier in the day with BF or lunch; you have more time to metabolize them during the day, and your body will be more efficient at burning fat at night when you sleep instead of the carbs. Just my 2cents.

Heart: ARE YOU STILL AROUND? I know you are working now, and are probably not on much. I wanted to tell you that Elaine was in town from Seattle and I had dinner with her on Saturday night. Mackenzie has made it to her 1st birthday and is doing well. I get to meet her on Tuesday. She brought a photo album with all the graphic photos in it, but it really gave me great insight to all she has been through in her short little life. How is Boogie doing? Is he enjoying school? Is he staying well? I hope you are doing good; I miss your posts, but then again....I haven't been on much myself.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

Good Morning! As some of you noticed, I started the boards last night, before I went to bed. Tom was up working on the plumbing, so I just stayed up too. We went to bed about 2 and slept until 9:30...though I woke up every two hours or so to go potty.

MMM was a good one for me! I was down two pounds. I saw it yesterday and was afraid it might be gone today, but it was still there! :carrot: I was surprised after eating a lot of illegal things at my mother in law's. I am wondering if the lack of stress there played in with the loss?? I don't care...I will take it! :) It might encourage me to go visit her more! :lol3:

TALITHA: I am so proud of you and your getting to the Y so regularly! I bet it will help you with your energy levels and how you feel this time. Give my sweeties and hug and kiss from Auntie Monet...

TECH: That is interesting about the other girl with the same problems as Shelley after a flu shot! Home schooling is not so hard. I did it for years and years. The only problem you are going to have is keeping Mr. Kyle happy in school once he gets there. He might be bored out of his skull. I have a friend whose daughter taught herself to read at 2. (she is certifiably brilliant, and is now a nuclear engineer) Her biggest problem was finding age appropriate books for her to read! She would pick up a newspaper at the age of four and say, "Mom, what does rape mean?" I unfortunately, never had such problems with my kids!

PANCHO: I hope the girls get over the colds and such fast! Poor little Lane, having bad dreams! I think kids who dream like that have good imaginations. Maybe she will be a writer! I love hot tea too! I will look for the gingerbread flavor. Celestial Seasonings is a favorite here too. I like the Tangerine Orange Zinger. I had a touch of a sore throat last night, and a cup of that made a noticable difference! I did not sleep great last night, but I was up at midnight because I stayed up late! (had to be up three hours after the Thanksgiving dinner at church!)

I will be back in a bit...need to go find some breakfast!

Good morning Ladies,

It was a good weekend. Got lots accomplished. Got some Christmas shopping finished. It wasn't easy hobbling around with this boot.

I'm down 1 lb today. Was hoping for more, but I'll take the 1. Plan on getting to the gym today, tomorrow and Thursday morning.

Bob, I'm thinking the Cats may have a chance Saturday. I'm not going, but the rest of the fam is. Glad you are feeling better.

Gator, I know you are not a BB fan, but FL is looking great this year.

Talitha, Good job getting to the Y. It will make your pregnancy so much easier. Maybe your roaches will get the rest of your brownies and youwon't have to worry about them. :fr:

Tech, sorry to hear Shelly has bronchitis, but at least you know what it is and can treat it. Hope she feels better before Thursday. Congrats on the 1 lb loss.

Nat, sorry the girls have colds. Hope they are feeling better before you all leave for DW. Have a great time and a wonder Thanksgiving.

Monet, Wow, congrats on those 2 lbs. :carrot: Sounds like a delish dinner for Thursday.

Have a great day.

Good Monday all- well, at MMM I am still the same!!! I am bummed but have no one to blame but myself. I KNOW my after dinner snacking was the culprit this week. (I kicked the sf ice cream, but fell in love with cheese..... ) I had my TOM this week with a vengeance and was really hungry alot!!! BUUUUTTTTT...... I am proud of myself for sticking to legal foods. And at least I didn't gain. I do feel like I am eating much more than I used to when I was doing Weight Watchers for so long. I think my body got used to so little food that I would hardly eat anything and actually gain weight even while exercising like a maniac. Sooo... I am relieved to stay the same even with the amount I am eating- plus, I am eating so much healthier!! One step at a time I guess. Now that I've gotten used to eating this way, I have to focus on eliminating my snacking bad habits.

Congrats to all you losers! Its so encouraging! I know I can do this!!

Kris- I am with you on the starchies- I have to try to have my dinner meal without them- Thats what I did the first week when I lost- then I got lazy and let myself snack on cheese and triscuits AFTER I had a good dinner!! Grrrr.

Well- have a good day everyone- I must get moving and clean my house for Turkey Day- we are having about 14 for dinner. PLUS, I decorated my house for Christmas this weekend and have to clean up from that. (BIG job- LOTS of decorations- probably too many...but I like it!!!)

HUGS< MUNCH

I got my water arobics done. I drank my PRotein shake later than usual and felt miserable the whole time, but I did it! I even swam a few laps after for extra CArdio. I really mean a few... like 6...

Selah is over here palying with some imaginary friend. If you ask her who whe's talking to she says " My little sister..." It's so cute!!! I hope she's right. WHat do you guys think of the name Hosea for a boy?

Anyway I ned to go get a few minutes of a nap. Hardly slept last night. I was working on orders till 2am and the kids were up at 6, as usual. I don't understand my friends who get their kids to sleep till 9 or 10.... Don't know how they do it, although I don't think I would do it if I could anyway. Today I was jealous though.

Monet- Not going to the DFM this week. Too much going on. :( Selah sends hugs and kisses

Solly- I am very happy that I can do the water Aerobics for now. THey may make me quit at my 3rd Trimester, b/c I always start going into labor early. WE'll see. OH YEAH, didn't I tell you guys? I trew the rest of the brownies away on Friday night. I figured in the trash was better than on my A$$...... Sorry, I couldn't help ot. It rhymed..... Travis was VERY upset at me. " YOU mean you made me sit here with the kids while you went to get all of that stuff to make brownies, and now you throw them in the trash so I CAN'T HAVE THEM EITHER????" Poor guy..

Tech- Down one is better than up. :)

Munch- you're doing great. SOmetimes you plateau for a week and then lose more the next.

Good morning ladies.....

The scales were good to me this week, I show a loss of 2 or 4 pounds!! I'd like the 4 but am only going to claim the 2. I got on the scales the first time and it showed the 4 pound loss, and I weighed 3 times.......I waited 5 minutes and got on again and it only showed the 2 pounds. I will just have to be really good this week and hope that next Monday it will still say 178!!

Got my exercise in and now I have to get ready to take Bill into town. He has a couple of appointments today.

Went in yesterday as it was the day for Mom and I to see the "Lion King".......if you get a chance to see this, by all means do! It was spectactular!! The costumes were unbelievable. I thought my Mom would like it, but she absolutely loved it!! We both watched the movie down at my Sis's place in Oct. so that we would know what was going on. The was the most awesome show that I have seen in a long time.

I hope to get back early enough this afternoon to get back on here and get some replies in.........see you all soon!

Just a fly-by. Solly--Actually I am a BB fan, and yes, the Gators are lookin' good. BOB is the one who is not crazy about BB. Anyway, the game between your team and my team should be interesting. After Fl's football season, BB is looking pretty good. Maybe I'll become a big fan!!

I'm still the same this week, but that's better than a gain! :turkey: I actually am just holding my breath that I can hold it again till next Monday, then I'll concentrate on trying to lose the next couple of weeks before holding again Christmas week. :gift2: My dh has the week off between Christmas and New Year's, so I'm sure there will be some cheating going on with my eating! Maybe we can snuggle up by the fire with some healthy homemade soups! :carrot:

I have a question, I had my six month follow up and bloodwork with my doctor this morning and her scale puts me three more than mine here at home. Do you guys normally adjust you scale and ticker, or just go with what you have at home in the first place? I also got my flu shot this morning. I've never had a reaction to it and I figure I'm definently at more of a risk than you're average joe, since I am a school nurse!

Talitha

Thin- I would stay with what your scale says. THe actually amond doesn't matter to me as much as the progress.

Gator-

Teensy- Great job on the loss!!! The show sounds great!! Glad you had such a great time.

Awww Monday..only 2 days to go... woo hoo ! Short weeks are great!
Just a normal work day for me and hit the gym on my way home instead of going home first , cooking dinner and going I did the oppisite today since dd couldnt go with me today and dh was getting home late, so it worked out well.

Tech- I hope shelley is better soon. I cant remember where I read this last week but I read something that said to eat your starches during the day and keep your last meal your lightest.

Pancho- me too on the tea. I just love hot tea when it gets cold out!

Monet- :carrot: on the 2 pounds !!

Solly- good for you christmas shopping. Ive bought one gift so far. Ive got to get myself in gear.

Munch- what a wonderful attitude. I know its so hard when you work so hard and dont have a loss. It doesnt seem fair sometimes.

Teensybean- woo hoo on your loss !!

Thin- I always use my scale at home! I hate the drs scale :)

Sounds like everyone did real well from last week. I havnt weighed. Mondays have never been my normal weighins. I might hop on tomorrow just to see where Im at. I havnt had a loss in 3 weeks now. I did lose that weight from the iv solution though last week so thats a good thing!

Hi everyone!

Just got done with dinner. Not 100% legal...we had corn for a veggie and instant brown rice...and chicken breast on the George Foreman.

Shelley got a 92.89 for an overall average...she needed a 93 to make High Honor Roll, but we'll take Honor Roll. Soo proud of her...she's really doing GREAT!! :carrot:

And then there's Kyle who is officially reading at mid first grade level. The teacher was really proud of him and his ability to write and draw pictures and his fine motor skills. So, my task at this point is to talk more about the books he reads and be sure he's understood what he's read. He's so good at it, though, right down to sounding like he's telling a story, not just sounding out sounds and words. Very articulate. I'm so proud of them both...

Thin: I always go by my own scale. Besides the fact that my weight is always the lowest first thing in the morning and it goes up as the day goes on by sometimes 5lbs! So, the difference may just be the daily weight fluctuations.

Teensy: Glad you liked the Lion King. It does sound like a spectacular show!! And congrats on the 2-4 lb loss. :bravo:

Talitha: Good job going to the aerobics. Wait till you get further along and see how awesome it feels to get gravity off your body. Only thing is you have to get out sometime and gravity seems to be even more treacherous than it was before you got in!! ;) As for names...I'm thinking you're into biblical names? My neighbors have all biblical names, Ezra, Jeremiah and Seth. At least I think Seth is biblical, I don't claim to be an expert. Hosea is cool...he'll definitely not have to share his name in any group settings...not many Hoseas out there!!

Munch: Those darn triscuits and cheese are my downfall, too. Well, that and the leftover Halloween candy. Don't sweat the no pounds lost. I go weeks on end without a loss and then something gives way and you'll loose a few. How much snow did you get last weekend? :snow4: We got a couple inches, but it was gone the next day. It was nice to see it coming down, though!!

Solly: Congrats on the jump on the Christmas shopping. I usually start mine at the last minute. I'd like to start earlier, but there just never seems to be any cash early on. :(

Monet: I've been told by my next door neighbor that our kindergarden teacher is excellent at keeping the kids that are reading and with-it, continuing on their academic journey (so to speak) while getting the kids that are just learning on an upward slope. He doesn't slow down the kids that are ahead, but he's good at getting kids to go at their own pace. I hope they don't try to move him up a grade because I really want him to go on to Junior High with that extra year of development and be the oldest kid in class high school, be the first kid in class with their lisence, etc. We'll take it one day at a time.

Pancho: I've been drinking hot tea a lot, too. I'm a Bigelow and Red Rose person. I like the flavored teas, but they leave me with a funny taste to burp up (I know, gross). If I have any, it's usually Cinnamon Apple and then I make a big pot and use two Red Rose and one Cinnamon.

Oh, and did you guys notice that my Matthew McConaughey is the SEXIEST MAN ALIVE?!? Well, I always knew that, but now it's official and on the cover of People magazine!!

Okay...off to make more tea...Bye, guys!!

Kris
:thanks2:

Good Evening EVERY BUDDY!!!

Just a drive by for me tonight. I spent the day in TAMPA and most of it was on my arse! I'm numb from the butt cheeks down!

Glad everyone had a good weekend. I heard from SEF and she's getting back to normal. She said it's going to be a quiet Turkey Day at her house this year, but at least they are home for the celebration! Her little town is getting back together little by little!

SOLLY....I'll probably be pulling for THE CATS Saturday...I'd like to pull for a winning team at least once this season!

GATOR...You're absolutely right...BOB DOESN"T DO BB...never have liked it..you would think it would be pumped into the KY water systerm...LUCKY FOR ME....I guess! It give me plenty of time to get ready for PIGSKIN SEASON AGAIN!!!
I'll try to send those pictures again...they didn't come back, so they went somewhere!

MONET...glad you had a peaceful day with your MIL...and wasn't that sweet for you to stay up with TOM....

TALITHA...did I miss something??? What are you selling? Glad to hear you're getting that exercise in while you can...

THIN...I always keep my scale on my home setting...my DOC'S scales are usually around 5lbs higher than mine.

COLLEEN...I would love to see THE LION KING on stage. I got to see THE PHANTOM and loved it..If you get a chance to see that one go...you won't be sorry!

TECH...POOR SHELLEY...I lived with bronchitis the first 5 yrs of my life until I had my tonsils and adnoids removed. Docs are just starting to do these procedures again. I'm a firm believer in the removal..

NAT...Generally, do the Girls get sick at the same time? I know my Brother always brought home everything to me. He's 5yrs older than I am so I got everything over and done with before ever starting to school!

I'm off to recline. I'll check in tomorrow...I'm watching THE TRAVEL CHANNEL and we're in Colorado..never been there so I'm just amazed at what I'm seeing!

LATER

OK- Monday chow list open for critique........
Breakfast- 1 ww english muffin with natural p.butter (about 1 tbsp altogether). 1 clementine
Snack- 1 no sugar added ff yogurt, handful seedless grapes
Lunch- about 1/4 cup ww spaghetti with my own no sugar red sauce, bit of parm cheese and a bowl of sliced cukes with good seasons dressing.
Snack- protein bar (my 0 sugar ones-)
Dinner- about a 4X4 (NOT FEET GUYS.... :p ) piece of crustless spinach quiche (lots of spinach in it) and a bowl of grapes.

Kitchen closed. Mouth now taped shut.

OK- what do you pros think? Am I eating too much? Too many starchies?

Another question (my mouth is taped, but I can type.... :D )
I found a carton of coffee mate no sugar, lo-cal french vanilla creamer. Legal? I don't normally use it in my coffee, but my hubby does, and he likes it. I bought it for a treat for coffee on Turkey Day. Its really good.

TECH- Congrats on the pounder! Thats great!! About an inch of snow for us too- down south in ski country they had like 1-2 FEET, but its melting! Thanksgiving may bring some of our famous lake effect from that storm coming in from the south. We'll see. I love snow too!!! Sorry about your daughter. I have asthma and have had bronchitis constantly until. like BOB, I had my tonsils out (at age 30) I've been wonderful ever since. My 4 yr old just had hers out this year too.

CINDY- good idea on not weighing today- too soon after your procedure. Your body may hold onto its fluids to heal itself. Wait till next week! I'm glad for the short week too. Relief!!!

BOB_ my neighbor is from Denver. She says its as beautiful as it looks on tv (and in my dreams)

THIN- always the home scale. I swear the drs put their scales higher so we'll think we're that much more overweight and need them more!!! I'm with you in the holding pattern!!!

TEENSY- Yippee on your loss! I heard Lion King was so great.

TALITHA- Way to go on your aerobics. Water aerobics are so excellent for expectant moms. I wish I was doing it when I was pregnant!! I like Hosea. I have 2 bible names for my girls- Hannah and Leah.

SOLLY- congrats on your pounder!!!! I really give you credit for shopping with that leg! You should get a special discount for your effort at all the stores!!! :carrot:

MONET- Yeah 2 pounds!!! Awesome!!!

PONCHO- love tea now too- I just burned up my tea pot last night and had to go out to Target at 9:00 to get a whistler that I couldn't forget!!!! I am such a forgetful cook- turkey anyone???

OK- time to go make myself some tea in my new teapot and curl up and get ready for bed. I need a good nites sleep tonite.

GOONITE!!! MUNCH

Evening! I am sorry I did not get back earlier like I said I would! My wonderful husband decided to take me out on a date. Now before you all go "aw...how nice!" I need to explain that he took me somewhere HE wanted to go- badly. :lol3: We went to see the new Harry Potter movie! It was really good, though I would not recommend it for little kids. It was pretty true to the story and a bit scary. I think I am now ready to read the latest book, but unfortunately, Laura has started it and hidden it somewhere.

Dinner tonight was chicken vindaloo with brown rice, and sauteed spinach. Oh, and a half a serving of 70% mint chocolate for dessert. Lunch was some surimi and melted butter, so I had a fairly good day on eating. I did eat three triscuits and bleu cheese before dinner too.

MUNCH: Definitely give up the eating after dinner. In order to go into fat burning mode while you sleep...the BEST time to burn fat by the way...you need to go to bed with an empty stomach. That means you need about three hours from your last meal to bedtime. This alone may all you need to start losing. Your menu looks good to me. Two starches a day are fine.

BOB: Yep, that's me...sweet through and through. haha! Tell SEF we miss her and she ought to come back and post jokes for us, even if she is not doing SB. We don't really care, we just miss her!

TECH: :cheer: Please tell your daughter that is from me! Way to go on the grades! I agree its better to be the oldest kid in the class...especially for boys! My son was one of the older ones in his class, and I think it was good for him.

CINDY: I am glad you got rid of the IV fluid weight. My feet were so swollen after my surgery, I could not believe it! I had to use a diuretic to get rid of it. Here is hoping you see a loss next time you decide to weigh! How is the weather up there in Indiana? One of these years, I am going to go visit my sisters in Chicago and will have to try and meet up with you.

THIN: Definitely go with what YOUR scale says to determine your progress. I think its the difference - the loss - that is important. I changed mine to match the doctors, and I honestly can not figure out what my start weight really was. I should never have done that. I got confused and lost that info...very frustrating!

TEENSY: The Lion King show sounds like fun! I am glad you enjoyed it! I hope those other two pounds show up with some friends next week! :s:

SOLLY: I am so jealous that you are getting shopping done already! I have a few presents done...that I knitted...but so much more to get finished, and here I am posting instead of knitting! :)

TALITHA: I figured as much on the DFM...I won't be ready to shop for groceries for at least a few days after Thanksgiving...I hope to have some leftover, but with all the folks coming, I may not! Ok, I am going to be really honest here...I do NOT like the name Hosea! It makes me think of the politician, Hosea Williams, who had a very checkered reputation. I like most other Biblical names...as long as they are not TOO weird...like I would have named one of my girls Josiah if she had been a boy. Its just my opinion though. Kind of like, I don't like the name Janice because there was a girl in my class named Janice who was always really mean to me. Janice is a very nice name...it just has bad connotations to me. Hosea is like that with me. I promise though, to treat your child with all the love I can muster even if his name is Hosea. OK? :)

GATOR: Basketball is kind of fun...I like watching it because it is fast paced. I used to love watching the Harlem Globe Trotters when I was a kid, but have not gotten into college BB...just middle school when my son played, and professional! :)

Ok, my friends. I am off to knit!

We have some MIAs...Toni, Frog, Country, Heartmom, Brandi... If you are lurking, say hello! :)

I'm going crazy looking for a boy name. Here's the problem. I want a girl sooooo bad. I've had 2 girl names since I was 12. I've got one done and one to go. I want my Lucienne so bad!! I just think if I find the perfect boy name then I will be able to get excited about it either way. Travis is so iritated. He HATES talking about names this early. Jsut doesn't get it.

So here are my ideas so far. As you know, I LOVE bible names, so most of them are. The problem is that wiht both of our massive families and more boys than girls, there's not much left. Malachi is even taken!! And for somereason I like a mix of really old and really odd. I don't know...

Lucas/Luke
Hosea
Amos
Solomon/Saul
Asa
Jared
Josah (not Josiah. It's taken :( )
Charles/Charlie (My Gpa)
Louis ( My Dad's middle name)
William (it's jsut nice)

Trav's family names are out. Clyde, Clint, Ralph.... So how the heck do I narrow them down? Jsut htought you may want to see the list.

Bob, I quit working and started selling Arbonne in April. I love it!! THe products are amazing. It's Swiss skincare, aromatherapy, cosmetics, nutrition. I can PM you the link if you are curious. Makes great gifts ;) Travis was just in Tampa last month for some training :)

Cindy- GREAT job on the exercise before you went home. That's a great way to get it done!!

Munch- your day looks good tome, but I'm not one of the pros. My sister's name is Hannah, and I LOVE the name Leah. My backup girl name is Keziah. I don't care that no one else likes it I've always loved it. Twin girls. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Monet- Don't know anything about Hosea WIlliams. But ironic that William made the list, too.. Have to make sure not to use those 2 together!!!!

Ok. I'm starting to feel like I could keep something down. I'm going to go make my protein shake. Water ARobics is at 10:30 and I have som orders to put in before I go..

Have a great day!!

Talitha: I LOVE Lucas! When I was trying to convince DH to have another baby (before he got me a puppy!! Not the baby I was talking about, if you know what I mean...but at least we won't have to put him through college!! :) ), Lucas was one of the names I liked...that and Gregory/Greg. Like Monet, I skipped on what I wanted to name my daughter (Michelle) because I worked with a mean lady at Kodak while I was pregnant named Michelle, so I went with Shelley. In the end, when picking names, I imagine names on office name plates and think of names that say to me, this person sounds nice and approachable. Such as, if I see the name Shelley on a name plate, it sounds like a nice person...who ever heard of a mean Shelley? Or a mean Kyle? Lucas has a tiny bit of a dark-ish ring to it (but I like it anyway), but Luke sounds like a cool guy I could ask questions from if I needed help at my new job...if I saw it on a name plate...know what I mean? Family names are really cool!! My parent's names are Dick and Jane...no kidding! So, I could never get away with naming my kids Dick, Jane and Sally, BUT, I did go with Jane and Richard for middle names...Shelley Jane and Kyle Richard. My Gramma was/is my most favorite person to roam the Earth, but I just couldn't use her names, even for a middle name...Ermie Augusta Willemena. She was named after her aunts, Minnie and Gusty...but that was also 1904 when such names were less ghastly. I suppose I could have worked with Shelley Augusta, but Shelley have killed me! As her name stands, she has my maiden name, so she has my mom's whole name incorporated into her whole name and she rather likes that. Derek's father was out, too. Clarence. Bleh (sorry to all who know a Clarence) Kyle Clarence was NOT an option at all. But Derek has a brother named Jim and although he's not our favorite brother, Gregory James would have worked if I'd had a HUMAN baby and not a puppy!! I also like Scott. My neighbor likes the basic names...she has William, Robert and David. David is her father's name and he was rather smitten that he has a grandson named for him. All her's are family names, too. She just had a girl and named her Isabelle Constance, her grandmother's first name and her other grandmother's last name. She's really old fashioned and that names suits her and her family like a glove! If I'd been able to have another girl, I could go on and on about girl names. I like Sarah and Jennifer (I just think a little girl named Jenny is so darn cute, and it's not used as much as it used to be) but my mother in law's name was Angela, so Angela Marie is what I'd have named her. My MIL was 100% Italian, her last name was Em and this way, when little Angela got her first document with Angela M. (last name), it would have been exactly her grandmother's maiden name! And to end this giant reply, I'd like to add that I'm in the beginning stages or writing a romance novel and I've decided my pen-name is going to be Angela Gregory Scott. After the baby I've always wanted... :^: How's THAT for pathetic!!

Monet: Did I mention that I took Shelley to see Harry Potter on Saturday? We LOVED it...of course, we would since we're HP fanatics! We've been waiting a year and a half for this one!! I got a bit embarassed with the bathtub scene. :o

Well, I really have to be going...talk to you guys later on...

Hey all! I'm really enjoying this week as our school system is out for the entire week! Just one of the perks to going back August 1st! :smug:

Tech- we saw HP Saturday and loved it! My kids are both "gifted" also and we try to keep them learning by taking them places, museums, library, Savannah, Williamsburg, reading about other countries, astronomy, things they will probably not touch much on in school. They both always do well on those standardized tests on the culture sections and such. Sean is a March birthday, so he's kind of in the middle, age wise. Rachel's birthday is Sept. 4 and in Georgia you have to be 5 by Sept. 1 to start Kindergarten. Well,we enrolled her in a small Christian school for kindergarten and 1st grade a year "early" then she joined the public system for 2nd grade. She has won essay contests, the school spelling bee last year and went to county, honor roll all through elementary school, and last year on her writing assessment she made a perfect six, no comments or suggestions to improve her story. Some of the teachers I work with said that just does not happen in the fifth grade. She and Sean are both doing well in middle school, but he could do a little better if he wasn't hitting that teenage lazy stage!

Talitha- We went with heritage type names for our kids. we have Sean Patrick McFarland and Rachel Kathleen. I like the bible names too, just thought with such an ethnic type last name, we should go with it! My mil told me you should pick out a name that sounds good when you yell it, calling your kids in from outside! SEAN PATRICK, TIME FOR DINNER! See it works!

Well, I better get off here and get something done! See ya later!

Morning! I have not had my morning coffee. That is because the coffee maker is snoring in the bed behind me! We had another kind of late night...we stayed up until about 1 while he worked on the plumbing and I knitted. I did not get much done, but at least I did some. This morning, I am supposed to go to a big art supply place with my neighbor. I need to call her and see what time we are leaving.

Last night, Tom cut the hole in the hall wall to access the pipes in the hall bathroom. So, there is a big hole in the wall. Lovely! :( I knew this was necessary, but I am dreading the clean up-fix up aspect of this project! We are going to have to almost totally redo the laundry room as the walls and ceiling are ruined. I am NOT the type that enjoys remodeling.

TALITHA: I like Lucas too. I knew a kid named Lucas years ago that I just loved. He was a mischievious young man at a camp I taught at. Its not a common name. I also like Charles. Jared is a good one, but kind of popular. I have a student named Solomon. Cute kid...but his name does not suit him. He ought to be a Jonathan. Is there a Noah in the family? I always wanted to use the name Megan. I planned to name my first Megan, but then he came out a James instead. When I was expecting my second, Megan had become a super popular name and there were so many of them, I was discouraged. So, I named her Ruth instead. Laura was named for her grandmother. The boy name we were going to use was a family name: George Hudson or Samuel Hudson. Tom's uncle is named Hudson and has been called Hutt all his life.

THIN: My school is out the whole week too! Its nice!

My neighbor just called, so I'd best get off here and get ready! She will be here in a minute!

Talitha--I would vote for Lucas or Luke also. Hosea and Amos and Asa, although all good guys, have names that might bring a little teasing to your little boy. You know how hurtful kids can be. Saul was dethroned (by God!) and Solomon--although wise--had too many wives. :) How about Lucas William. Or Luke William. Luke was a good author, and a doctor to boot!
On another totally different topic, where did you get the info about the lead in the lipstick?

Eating yesterday:
cereal and berries with Sk. milk for bf.
Lunch--large salad with 2 oz. ham, ff cottage cheese, some orange segments, onion, lots of lettuce, lo cal dressing. Mmmm, it was good.
Fresh pear for snack.
Dinner--roast chicken with roasted veggies and cooked cabbage.

Today--bf. homemade meusli (raw oats with fresh fruit cut up in it) topped with sk. milk.

Munch--Your menu looks good. Are you having any problems with getting hungry too soon? If so, add more protein. If not, keep up the good eating.

It is cold here--in the 40's I think, but it is supposed to get up to 70. Brrrr. Too cold for me. I definitely have thin blood.

We are going our to out DD's for T. giving. Her bf is smoking a turkey on his grill. She is fixing veggies, and he is doing his mother's stuffing recipe. He eats very fatty--lots of starches and fats--was raised tht way. He'll fix a whole box of spaghetti--white--for a meal and will wonder why there is quite a bit left over!! All that uncooked spaghetti in the box doesn't look like very much to him. LOL. I'm taking no-sugar cranberry salad, and my son is taking pumpkin pie.
My DD was not so "dear" yesterday. She wanted to go pick out invitations for her wedding and I took her. She is beginning to make what should be a very simple--just pick out a darn invitation--it's just an invitation for gosh sake!!--very very difficult. We went by Sam Flax because she wanted to show me some things there. They have a lot of pre-cut cards that can be assembled with fold-overs to make invitations. She started picking out mustard yellows, black, dark reds and purples--saying tht she wanted an invitation to show her personality. She asked my opinion and I said that those colors didn't look very bridal. When I didn't agree with her she got all bent out of shape and said that I never listen to her and that I don't care. Soooo- we left immediately and I informed her that the invitation project was now totally her baby and that she could pick out what ever she wants and that I would not participate at all. I also told her what I thought about her totally rude and selfish comments. I do not believe that she will apologize-that's not her "style". :( So the good news is that I don't have to mess with the invitations, and the interesting news is that people may be getting mustard yellow invitations in a black envelope to a wedding. I'll be glad when this wedding is over. She is 32 and still very difficult to deal with. Sad.

We are going to Savannah for N.Y.Eve. We always stay home or go over to a friend's house. But this year--something different. We actually want to get away from our kids. You can see that they are driving us nuts. :) (Here's an example--our DS has a woman and her 2 kids living with him. For thanksgiving he is bringing the 2 kids over to our DD's house for the day, but their mother--his GF--is not coming. He says her boss is making her work, but that is BS. She doesn't like any of us and doesn't want to be around us and wants to make that perfectly clear. Weird, huh, that he would choose someone like that.) We have some really good old friends from another city who are going to Savannah and invited us to join them. Should be fun. We are staying in a really nice B & B for 3 nights. I'll be sure to take my warm clothes. Now you all know about me and my weird kids. My dd is selfish and my ds makes bad choices and they both have had to learn everything the hard way. How dumb is that?!

I have not walked today because it was "too cold". Maybe I'll try to walk later.

Hope everyone has a great day. BTW, where is Fillise?

Hello all! I'm just popping in to say I'm headed to NC for the holiday. I just wanted to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving!

I thought maybe Monet didn't want to hear from me last week after the AU-UGA game! ;)

I'm still struggling--in many, many ways. Too many to go into right now. I did bake two loaves of WW SF bread to use for my thanksgiving dressing and will make my apple pie with agave and WW crust. Friday I will be shopping all day (and I do mean ALL DAY). I'll be doing so much walking I'll eat whatever I want--within reason (e.g. I won't sweat it if the bread on my sammich isn't WW). The rest of the weekend should be ok.

BOB, GATOR, SOLLY, MONET and MISSY--DID YOU SEE MY TIGERS ON SATURDAY??????? Four-in-a-row over Bama is SWEET! The stadium was in pandemonium after the third touchdown in the 1st quarter. Hee, hee, hee. Bumperstickers started showing up yesterday saying "Honk if you sacked Brodie!" I'm still on a high! After all the excitement, I have just one thing to say--Soooo--eeeee--pig!

Talitha--Have I missed something? Are you in the family way---CONGRATS!

Everyone else--Belle is trying to bust out of her carrier, so I think I better get on the road.

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!!!!!

Hi Ladies,

Only 1 1/2 more days to go this week.I too love short weeks.

Made it to the gym for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. My foot kept slipping off the pedal of the bike. So today my knee is sore. By the time this cast is off my upper body should be buff. :strong: We will get back there again tonight and then Thursday morning. Maybe Saturday morning unless I can convince DH to take me shopping.

Friday we will shop all day. I love the madness.

Cindy, Good job getting to the gym. We went after dinner and I felt blah. Working out on a full stomach is tough. Hoping you see a big drop next week.

Teensy, glad you and your mom enjoyed the Lion King. It is a great show.

Tech, those are great scores for your DD. Shame she just missed the higher honor roll, but still doing great.

Bob, you are seeing the world with your travel channel. It's sure a lot cheaper that way.

Munch, your menu looked pretty good to me. 2 fruits, 2 starches. Not too much.

Monet, a date is still a date. Did he buy you popcorn? I loved the snoring coffee maker.

Talitha, I voite for Luke.

Thin, you children sound very gifted. You are very lucky.

Gator, I'm sorry the invitation trip turned out so bad for you. Something that should be fun and enjoyable with your DD casued ill feelings. A friend of my DD's invitations were brown and they were quite lovely. Her bridesmaids dresses were also brown. I had never seen any that color, but they were pretty.

Fillise, Yes, I saw your team Saturday. I picked them to win. Have a safe and wonderful trip. Happy Thanksgiving. Get back on here when you get back.

Got to run. Have a great day.

Talitha

Didn't get to the Y :( Selah is sick, so I'll be homebound today. ANy SF pecan pie recipes out there?

I think the list is down to

Lucas
Louis
Charles (Charlie)
Hosea

Lucas Hosea, Charles Louis, Hosea Charles, Charles Hosea, Hosea Daniel (Where did that come from?)

Those are all names I can be happy about. So this may help with the frantic "It has to be a girl" feeling.

Just a fly by...I walked my feet off today shopping! I got some very cheap tempra paint discs for school, a rolling art storage bin that is more like a rolling briefcase, to use for school (half price!), and some oil paints and a palette for me. I can't wait to paint...but I need to finish my knitted Christmas presents first! That inspired me to knit some tonight. I really need to spend a LOT of time doing it, but instead tomorrow, I need to clean and start cooking. :(

I essentially skipped lunch today. Dinner was rotisserie chicken, leftover veggies and some green beans, and a baked sweet potato. I won't go into the cookie, etc. I had when we stopped for coffee at about 2pm, and I was really hungry... Breakfast was a protein smoothie and a few pieces of bacon.

I am tired, and sore, and I have tons to do. Love you all...but I have to go get some work done so I can fall into bed!

Monet- glad you had such great deals shopping- I love it when that happens. I am the bargain queen (and miss garage sale thrift store shopper too!)

Here's my check-in food for the day......

Keep in mind that Tuesdays are my busy activity day- so I eat a bit more to keep going-I basically take dance and teach aerobics from 5 to 9:30 nonstop. (must say my butt hurts tonite too!!)
B- 1 cup 7 grain hot cereal with splends & milk, 1 clementine
S- 1 clementine
L- artichoke with a tiny bit of melted butter & lemon juice, rest of crustless spinach quiche (big piece)
D- 1 piece salmon cooked in olive oil and soy sauce, another artichoke (yummy), 2 squares 70% cocoa chocolate.

Now my problems with Tuesdays are that I don't get in the door until 10:00 after teaching all night and not eating since lunch or snack (didn't have time for snack today...) I know I'm eating late, but I can't help it! I am hoping all my activity will make up for it if I try not to eat too late on other nights. Any suggestions? Eating or snacking while at work is not an option- I am just too busy.

Well- I will TRY to check in tomorrow- have lots of cooking and cleaning to do for Thanksgiving. I have about 12 family members coming! I enjoy doing it evry year. I think I may have a screw loose, but it IS fun. Our goal this year is to try and get our families to hang out a bit- they usually eat and run! Drives me nuts. Oh well.

Hugs, MUNCH

MUNCH: I know what you mean...I have ten people coming for Thankgiving! AND, my house looks like a disaster zone! On the menu: You need to eat more veggies in my opinion, or the veggie police are going to be visiting you!!! :) Other than that, it looks ok. If you can't help eating late on nights you work, just try to eat lightly, no starches and concentrate on protein, and stay up as late as you can manage afterwards. If you can stay up three hours after you finish eating, you ought to be fine. I love finding bargains. Did I mention that I found tempera paint cakes for half price? Unfortunately, they only had some yellow, then red, orange, blue, and purple. I got a lot of what I could, and just purchased black, green and white from Dick Blick. Now I can do tempera painting with the K-2 grades, and reserve the watercolors for the older classes. I hope next year, they will move the art classes to another day of the week! This year, its Wednesdays, mostly, and that is the day they have chapel and wear their nice clothes. They are not allowed to change, and I don't want angry parents complaining about paint on their expensive uniforms! :(

Good night !

Good evening ladies.....

Sorry I didn't get here very early today. I have been very busy making pies. I made 2 sf apple and one pumpkin. All with WW crust. One of the apple pies is for our neighbor for letting me hunt on his property. We got our deer and Ted took it in to have hot beer sausage and Thuringer made out of it. The other one we boned out and cut into steaks.

I had hoped to have a bit more time but looks like I am doing another fly by. I probably won't be here now until after Thanksgiving. I have alot to do and a very short time to get it all done. I even got my new computer today, but won't be able to get it set up until after Thanksgiving. I have got to get some cleaning done tomorrow as company starts arriving around 2 pm. Running Bill around all day yesterday put me a day behind.

I hope that you all have a great Thanksgiving Day, and I want you all to know that I am so thankful to have you as my friends!! Good night......

Colleen: I have a funny story about thurniger. I don't completely remember the Apollo 13 crisis happening, but I think I was listening to the news a lot as I remember sitting in a box in the bathroom, pretending to be lost in space and only having thurniger for my 'space food'...once again, this was what we kids did to entertain ourselves before cable and video games  Your pies sound fabulous!!

Monet: I was thinking about you yesterday. My son is getting old enough so I can put on things on TV that are not animated and he doesn't have a melt down (yes, a bit on the spoiled side....although I'm told by one of my mom's friends that there are no such things as spoiled kids, just extra-loved kids...after hanging out in Kyle's preschool room, I'm no longer 100% on board with this theory :lol3: ) ...ANYHOW (I do tend to go off on tangents... )...I was flipping past PBS and saw The Joy of Painting was just about to start and KNEW Shelley would love it! She loves to paint and loves watching my mom at work! Do you remember that show? I think his name is Bob Ross? Anyhow, I told my daughter that he's a bit strange when he talks, but she'll learn to love him and she DID!! She was amazed at his ability to paint a huge painting in, like, 10 mins. So, now I have to go out and get some oil-ish paints for her to play with. And me, too. ;)

Munch: I guess you should listen to Monet and add more veggies, but other than that, you're like a sugar busters PRO!! :carrot: Keep up the great work!! The others might not agree, but I keep a nature's valley granola bar in my purse for times when I can't get to healthy food for a snack. It has a bit of sugar, but is totally whole grains and will take the edge off so you won't be starving when you get home and eat too late. I think if you deprive yourself of eating and you start to get hunger pangs (pains?), your body is going to start storing fat and that, I think, is worse than a slightly sugary granola bar....IMHO. OR, you can toss an apple or some triscuits in a bag in your purse. Just don't forget the apple is in your purse (I would!!) or it will turn too applesauce from banging around in there....

Talitha: I like Lucas Daniel... ;) Just one more for you to consider... How is Selah today?

Solly: Wow...an hour and 15 mins? :carrot: That is fabulous!! You're right, you're going to be Superwoman before your cast is off!!

Fillise: Wow...you DO travel a LOT!! You're very lucky! I'm thinking your WW bread stuffing is going to be wonderful!! And LEGAL!!

Gator: I'm sorry you're daughter is being a pill about the invitations. I'm with you with leaving her to do it herself. I also agree with her for wanting them to be the way she likes them, but she doesn't have to be RUDE about it. Isn't this the guy that we don't like? Maybe she's just being over sensitive. Too bad she didn't put so much thought in to choosing a fiance!? Isn't he the one that doesn't have a job and is kind of a mooch? Poor you...I give you credit for even going with her to pick out things for the wedding in the first place...it has to be the pits for you. And then you get to add in the son and his girlfriend. What the heck is up with that? No job would ever have me working on Thanksgiving away from my kids!! No way...it has to be a waitress job or something, right? I'd quit and get a new waitress job that was more family friendly. Period. As for her opinion of YOU...she just must have brain damage, that's all I have to say. I always got along with my boyfriend's moms...sometimes better than I got along with the boyfriend. She must be a jerk...lets hope it doesn't last long with your son. Not just for your son's sake...YOU deserve better...IMHO!! ;) I know you'll have a blast in Savannah, just DH and you. It sounds like a very cozy way to bring in the new year, to me!!

Thin: My son just LOVES interesting things. We took him to a place called ECHO in Burlington, VT this summer and he jsut takes it all in. It stands for Evironment Conservation something, something...but it's a hands-on museum dedicated to the conservation of the Champlain Valley Watershed. He also goes right for the space books at the library...or titanic ( If I have to see that movie ONE MORE TIME!!...I'm gonna need counseling!!) and anything that involves a more deep thought process. He can tell you anything you want to know about the solar system...he made the whole thing Sunday out of playdough!! The sun, Jupiter WITH the red spot, etc. My doctor told me yesterday I should take him to the school counselor to have his IQ tested...he's always amazed at the conversations he can have with Kyle.

Well, I have to go have breakfast, call DH and start with my house cleaning. Shelley and I made a list yesterday of all that needs to be done, then we're going on an all-out man-hunt for our Christmas decorations. I always put them places I know I can find them and then DH goes on one of his cleaning sessions and everything gets buried. We don't really have shelves int eh basement, we just put things in boxes and stack them up and then when he 'cleans', he jsut really moves everything from one side of the basement to the other and then I can't find anything. I also have to find the kids' mittens and things. I put them all in a bag in the spring when I cleaned off the back porch and now I don't know where they are. I'm sure they're with the Christmas decorations. BUT, its supposed to SNOW :snowball1 like crazy tomorrow and the next day and we'll need them to make snowmen in the yard! I can make some mittens, but they won't be thick enough for hands-on activities.

Okay...off to start the day!! Kris

Munch--Yeppers, the Food Police has arrived and says that you need more veggies. :)

Tech--Actually, my DS's girlfriend probably doesn't have to work on Thanksgiving. She has an office job. That was just an excuse not to come. So her not coming is a pretty flagrant way of letting everyone in our family know that she doesn't want to be around us. How hard is it to just suck it up and be nice for a couple of hours?! Too hard for her, I guess.

Solly--Actually, my DD is not having any attendents in her wedding. It is just her coming down the path in our garden on her dad's arm. So, really, there are no "colors." Just the white dress she is wearing and whatever she chooses for her bouquet. She somehow thinks that she is having a theme of purple colors for this wedding, but I have not figured out yet where that will be. I'm not redecorating my house for this and I don't have purple in my house. :) Thanks for your sympathetic words. Hope your foot is healing nicely.

Well, I have a ton to do today-chores around the house, getting the car filled up, etc. etc. So have to go.

I'm still here. Just very busy right now and trying to stay focused and keep my priorities in check. Please know that even though I don't currently read the posts and write-in daily, I am keeping happy thoughts for you.

Scale is moving some! FINALLY! Trying to stay completely OP but have had a little cheat here and there.

The Tad and Mr. Frog are well. We have sooo much to be thankful for this year. :bb:

As I scanned this page to post I did notice one thing...

TALITHA!!!! Congratulations  !!!! One of the last times I read you were saying in your post that you were wondering. I guess women just 'know' these things don't they? Love the name William and it shortens to Liam quite nicely. Was going to be our boy name. That's my vote! ;)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!

Good morning Ladies.

It has been a crazy morning and doesn't look like it's getting better.

Got to the gym for about an hour. My stomach was upset. So we didn't stay any longer. I think working out before dinner is a better idea.
Hopefully we will be able to get there before we leave for my sister's tomorrow.

I will be making a sf chocolate pie with a ww crust. Everyone eats it and doesn't even know the difference. :thanks2:

Talitha, I hope Selah is feeling better today.

Monet, perhaps the school could invest in some smocks for the kids so their clothes don't get messed up. Good luck with your dinner.

Teensy, congrats on getting your deer. You will have lots of meat now. Your apple pie sounds delish. I am making a SF chocolate with the ww crust. We are thankfull for you too.

Tech, I saw where you are supposed to get bunches of snow. Have fun in it. Glad it's you and not me. Have a great turkey day.

Munch, I agree with everyone else, more veggies. Being gone all day like that is hard to do.

Gator, I guess since there is no "color" she is just going with what strikes her fancy. Sometimes I think they just pick whatever we don't like just to be contrary. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Frog, glad you are still with us. It is so wonderful to have special things to be thankful for.

I won't be back until Monday. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy the day and get back on plan so you don't do much damage. :thanks1:

Just flying by...I slept too late this morning, and now I am really behind! I am making some minor changes in the menu and thinking (just thinking right now!) about starting to clean up this pigsty!

GATOR: To stay home on Thanksgiving to avoid you and Mr. Gator seems awfully dumb...like shooting yourself in the foot...who wants to sit alone on a holiday? <<hugs>> Next year, come to Hotlanta and celebrate the holiday with us. You won't get turkey, but you won't have to rub elbows with turkeys either. (well, there might be a few eccentrics, but since they won't be family you can laugh about it later!)

Ok, off to do something productive!

Okay...just went out and got my T-day groceries at the local store instead of the supermarket in Watertown. I had to get a frozen turkey instead of a fresh one...guess he'll be sitting in the sink all night!! I'm also having pumpkin pie and lemon merang (have NO CLUE how to spell that...and I'm not going to try) and sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes and stuffing and probably corn. The family won't eat much more than that, anyway. Oh, darn...I forgot cranberry sauce. I can go get that later, I guess. BUT, my DH said, "Spend like 30-40 dollars..." So, I spent 67. :o I get so mad at myself...but things are way more expensive at this little store than in Watertown...but I didn't have to put in 10 dollars of gas to get there, either, so I guess that helps.

Well, if I don't get back before tomorrow...

:happ3: :turkey: :thanks1:

Have a happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

PS....Munch: :snow4: Have fun in the snow!!!

Quick Turkey Fly-By :turkey: (Oh yeah- turkeys can't fly.......)

I just baked a zillion things- 2 pies, banana bread, ww bread for stuffing, angel food cake. I licked the spoon on the banana bread which was NOT legal (for Mom In Law in nursing home) and now I feel sick. Goes to show ya that my bod does not like sugar in it anymore.

Tech- hope we get some snow- its supposed to go SOUTH again!!!!!!

More later............... MUNCH

Monet--LOL. I'd have thanksgiving dinner with you any day. I'll keep the invitation in mind. :)

Hi Frog. Always nice to hear from you.

Solly--have a good trip.

I'm typing one-handed while i'm on hold on the phone.

Monet--my dh's favorite pie is lemon meringue. I haven't made that in years.

EVERYONE have a great day.

Since the BOARD IS CLOSED TOMORROW....I thought I had better get on here and wish everyone a BIG OLE TURKEY DAY!!! I've got my pie in the oven now, and I'm thinking about baking my turkey overnight. I do that sometimes...put the oven on 250-275 and let it cook really slow and by the morning, it's done! That just leaves the trimmings left to do on TURKEY DAY..

I'll talk to y'all on FRIDAY...

HAVE A GREAT ONE!!!

:) Happy day before Thanksgiving!! Is everyone ready? Since Im going to relatives I dont have much to do..thank goodness ! Just have to make some spinach/artichoke tarts tomorrow and off I go. I made some cranberry bread tonight to take so thats all out of the way. Got to the gym tonight and did a 1 hour cardio step class so Im all ready for tomorrow to eat ! Dont worry I wont go over board. Im not a big Thanksgiving food fan so I probably will stick to turkey and veges.

Monet- We got 2 inches of snow today. How fun! Most of it on the street is gone .. well melted so tonight it will freeze and become ice..now thats real fun ! Yea, if you get to Chicago Id love to arrange to meet. One of my oldest friends live there too . I really need to get there to see her sometime in the near future. Its been years since we last saw each other.

Gator- mustard yellow invitations with black envelopes would be very memorable! This is one reason I was very glad my dd and dsinlaw choose not to have a wedding cause Im sure her and I would of butted heads on most things.

Munch- Your menu yesterday looked really good. Great job. Monet's right about the veges but I cant comment cause I dont eat what I should though I try to get in one main one a day sometimes two and thats good compared to what I used to be before LC..like none.

Tech- years ago my Mom used to watch the painting shows and became a wonderful painter from them ( it also inspired her to take come classes) . She doesnt paint anymore but her home is filled with alot of the ones she did. And she was in her 50's when she started !

Solly- I wish I could work out before eating most times but usually it doesnt work out that way for me. But I eat pretty light at dinner so It doesnt seem to bother me during exercise.
I guess the point of just getting it done when you can is the most important ..huh :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and be safe if your out driving!

Am I ready for tomorrow? Heavens NO! :lol3: I did cook the potatoes tonight, so all I will need to do tomorrow is get them peeled and riced. I would do that tonight, but my daughter and her friends have commandeered the kitchen on me! If they finish up soon I will peel the taters at least....I already told James he was getting up early to help me rice them. Its just plain hard to put them through the ricer, and he is a lot stronger than me!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow...talk to you all on Friday!

REMEMBER: don't forget the challenge! I know thinking of it is going to help me not over do it too much tomorrow! :s:

Shall I be the first to confess? tee hee! I had potato dumplings, made with white potatoes and white flour...and dill gravy also made with white flour. I ate a very small piece of pumpkin pie, chocolate peanut butter pie, and a cheesecake with tropical fruit. I ate some potato salad, had roasted asparagus, beef, and squash casserole. I only ate one plate of food, but I am STILL stuffed 4 hours later! We had a lot of fun, enjoyed the company, but everyone is gone now and it sure is quiet! I was trying to keep up with the cleaning and ran the dishwasher as soon as we finished eating before I served up the dessert! By the time we finished dessert, the dishwasher was about done...and I got it unloaded and reloaded and back on again! I unfortunately did not get the food put away soon enough! One of the cats found the leftover beef, and ate half of it before I caught her! I chased her outside with a broom. She doesn't seem to be having any lasting issues from it...she is asleep on my desk right now! :)

Ok, off to finish cleaning, then maybe knit a few more rows...I have gotten some done today! Yay!

Hi Monet--Thanks for your post. I'll go second:

Only one plate and I was not stuffed. I did "cheat." Here's my menu. Turkey roasted on the grill, cornbread dressing made with Pepperidge Farm cornbread stuffing mix. Fresh green beans with garlic, lemon and almonds, spinach casserole (legal but not lo-cal), SF cranberry "sauce" (the recipe I posted with the orange, apple, cranberries, pineapple, nuts and sf cherry jello), gravy made with white flour, but very thin, so not too bad. I had a dab of dressing and then a dab more for seconds. I had seconds on the cranberries too. Dessert was a big no-no, but so delicious: small piece of pumpkin pie, small piece of pumpkin praline torte--that was wonderful, with a thin layer of caramel-pecan topping (actually bottom--it was an upside-down type cake) with a cake layer that was VERY moist and pumpkiny. The two layers had a big layer of whipped cream in the middle and on top. Delish but a total cheat.

We ate at our daughter's and I was the total guest. I did not help wash up the dishes and enjoyed it immensely just being the guest. I still am steamed about Tuesday. But I was nice over there. She just needs to apologize.

We had a really nice day today. We slept late--my DH really needed that. Then puttered around a bit. Then went over to the golf club and hit balls for a couple of hours. Then went to eat. Then came home and went for a nice long walk. It was just turning dusk so we came home and are vegging out. The weather is perfecct today--70's and we are wearing shorts and short sleeves. Even toward the evening it is still nice and warm. A perfect day in paradise.

We are leaving tomorrow about noon for the last football game of the season in Gainesville. Some friends are going with us and we are staying at a cute little cottage at the B & B where we always stay. We will have a cute little sun porch, private courtyard with fountain, living room with TV, two bedrooms and one bathroom with jacuzzi. We will go to a BB game on Friday night against the Nolies and then Saturday to the 3:30 game. We will fix our own breakfasts because the ones served at the inn are heavy on the sugar and white flour. We will have bacon and eggs and also SB pancakes with fresh fruit for the 2 mornings we are there. Tailgate menu: Turkey sandwiches, SF cranberry/fruit jello, broccoli salad, and leftover torte  And wine.

Hope everyone had a great day. I am thankful for all of you and your contribution to this board and to my life. Thank you and my God richly bless you.

Tales of Thanksgiving Craziness..............

Ok- since we are confessing.... I started munching last night when I was cooking. Did good all morning because I was feeling like I was coming down with the flu. (I know I'm sick when I can't eat much:p ) Then.. had a bit of red wine and felt a bit better:dizzy: . Had lots and lots of crab dip with triscuits. Legal, but loaded with fat. Did I mention I had alot??? Had some turkey, stuffing (made with ww bread), coconut pecan sweet potatoes, a bit of mashed taters with gravy, ww roll (made dough in bread maker), broccoli with cheese sauce. Had another glass of wine (had to deal with my family). For dessert I had made that trifle with angel food cake, sf/ff pudding, strawberries and homemade whipped cream w/Splenda. That was yummy. I am stuffed and still feeling not so great. I am so glad I have off tomorrow. I am sleeping in!!!!

Thats the food. Now for the family. My family is so bizarre. EVERY year they eat, then leave like 15 minutes after dessert- saying they have to get home for some such reason. Whenever we go to any of their houses, we HAVE to stay and hang out. Its so irritating. We feel like we spend SOOOO much time preparing for this day and then everyone comes and chows down and leaves, not even staying to chat much. I always end up feeling let down. I do like doing Thanksgiving every year, but just once it would be nice to feel like they didn't just come for the food. Oh well, I know plenty of people who would give their eye teeth to have their relatives leave quickly!!!:D Its just always a bummer for me afterward thats all.

Well, we are putting the kids to bed late tonite and maybe we'll get to sleep in. I'll look forward to hearing more about everyone's Turkey Day.

TECH- How much snow did ya get? We only got about 2 inches- it went south AGAIN!!! Bummer!!!

Hey, Im glad to see others posting after the BIG eating day. I did pretty well. I ate a small bit of stuffing and a very small piece of black raspberry pie. Everything else was legal.

I feel the same way. We usually have Christmas here and its the same thing. Or my sister in law ( who used to have Thanksgiving at her house, but no more) everyone would stay and play games. So we thought , when we started Christmas here, would do the same but as soon as we were done with eating and opening gifts theyd all leave and my sister in law would say oh everyone come over to our house for games! Really urkes me. She cant have anyone over to eat anymore cause she says , all of a sudden since they used to do it, that there is no room anymore for everyone to eat- but theres room to play games ? It kind of hurts my feelings. You do go to all that work to have people at your home, cooking, cleaning , then cleaning up the mess and it seems they want to rush off. Maybe I should be glad they dont hang around too long. I dont know. My mom says I am too sensitive... who knows.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great time and lets all get back on track tomorrow.

Im going shopping tomorrow...leaving at 4:30 am !! Dh is going with me for the first time. Usually I have to go alone cause everyone else is working. Im very excitied to have a companion to shop with !

HAPPY DAY AFTER THE GORGING TO ALL YOU BUDDYS!

BOB will chime in next with what we ate.....TURKEY (of course) dressing (made with cornbread AND pepperidge farm) mashed potatoes ( I KNOW...I KNOW...I SAID SWEET POTATOES!) yeast rolls, FRESH GREEN BEANS, cranberry sauce and PUMPKIN PIE!!! Now, if that ain't cheating...I don't know what is...the only thing that was missing was scalloped oysters! TIPPY had her little piece of TURKEY so she could say she had THANKSGIVING DINNER....

MUNCH...My Uncle and his family used to leave like that...My DAD always kidded him about not having any lights on his car!.. THey only lived about 45minutes from my Grandmother, but off they went anyway!

MONET...sounds like a good eating day at your house! Glad everything went well, and I hope that DEAR KITTY is still feeling well after the banquet!

GATOR...I know you're already gone, but good luck at the game....Mine will be a bust! And the apology? Just mark it up to one more thing that she pissed you off about...suck it up (even though you're right) and just be there for her when she needs you!

CINDY...no shopping today for BOB WOULDN"T DARE GET OUT IN ALL THAT!!!

I'm off for now...I'll be back later

Hey everyone! I did go shopping..but there were NO crowds where I went! :) I went to the post office, and to the library and then to Harry's/Whole Foods. I just made a pressure cooker full of chili, which turned out pretty good, even if I do say so myself! :s:

Tom is working on plumbing and I am 'support staff' today. I am not sure what that means, but he just feels better if I am somewhere close to yell for if he needs anything.

James took a good friend of his to the airport this morning. She is going home to Japan for an indefinite length of time. I think he is kind of sweet on her, but there is a lot of 'stuff' that has gone on...the biggest being about a year ago she was engaged to a young man who committed suicide.

I got whole wheat pie crusts at Harry's, but they had a new product that I got to try. Its whole grain spelt pie crusts. I am going to see if it is ok for me. I try and avoid wheat as much as possible, but gosh its hard! I usually make my quiches without crust, but if this is ok, I could use them. I might just use the spelt crusts for some legal apple pies.....

I am off to get some support staff stuff done! :)

OK OK! I had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, green bean casserole, peanut butter cake and pecan pie spead out throught the entire day:ink: ! Thankfully I felt pretty yucky today and just had leftover ham and green beans. The kids and I went out shopping today and took care of a few things. :sssh: Kohls was very crowded:hyper: , but the other places we went were not too bad. Had to come home earlier thatn I'd planned, Rachel was having some stomach issues. She thinks she ate too much yesterday, but I think she had a little bug or something. I'm going out to do a couple of errands by myself in the morning, then back home to make dh a Happy Birthday apple pie. He would rather have that than a cake. We may try to brave the crowds again later over the weekend, we'll just have to see how we all feel.

It was exciting to have DH with my shopping this morning BUT... in the middle of our first store he starting complaining of stomach pains and they got bad real quick. He ended up having we think food poisioning, he was sooo sick. We left that store , ran to walgreens seeing if he could find something to help ( I shopped while he talked to the pharmasist) of course we had to stand in line forever. But what he got didnt help a bit and he was home moaning and groaning and getting sick..telling me he might have to go to the hospital... finally he fell asleep after getting sick about 5 times woke up 4 hours later and felt totally fine. Just scared to eat now. But he had to head off to work and seemed ok to go. I did get alot of my Christmas gifts out of the way at the one store we got to go to. I will pick up the last few things in the coming weeks.
Im trying now to get in the mood to start getting out my Christmas things. I hope dh will be able to help tomorrow with the tree. He is usually the light putter upper.
Hope your all having a fun friday and hope the shoppers got some good deals !

HOWDY EVERYONE!

Glad that all of that is over and done with. I too was left feeling dissappointed. My Mom and Grandmother came over, and left as soon as we ate. I asked them to bring their clothing and such to spend the night, so that we could play some cards. My Grandma loves to play cards. They played a couple of games with the boys while I was cooking the potatoes and making the gravy. Then left as soon as Mom helped me do the dishes.......I didn't even get to play with them. Brant said that was the quickest dine and dash he had ever seen! Did very well with my eating yesterday.....turkey, sweet potato, ww stuffing, gravy, celery stuffed with cheese, olives, sf cranberries, all in moderation. Was still full at dinner time, so only had a small piece of sf pumpkin pie. I was so proud of myself....... then today.........pumpkin bread.....not SB legal, and then picked at some of the regular stuffing when I was reheating for dh. Am still full from lunch, and think I will skip dinner.

Got my new computer set up. This thing is awesome. The montior is huge. Sure is nice not to be squinting at a 13.5 inch screen. I think I will need a new scanner. Can not get it to load. It says my software is installed properly, and that my hardware is installed properly, but when open the program to use it, it can't be found. I think that since it is 5 years old that it is not compatible with the Windows XP operating system. My other computer had Windows 98 second edition. Anyone have any ideas?? Everything else loaded fine except for my Broderbund Calendar Creator. If any of you computer buffs have any ideas please let me know.

Well, I am off to watch a movie.....have a great weekend!!

TEENSY: Do a Google search on the brand of scanner you have and see if there are any drivers to update the software to work with XP. My son, who does this kind of stuff for a living said you will need to uninstall your software, install the new drivers, then reinstall your software, and it should work. The key is finding the XP drivers online and getting them. Most brands have a web page with driver updates you can download. Hope that helps!

Well, here 2 days after Turkey Day-- and I too am relieved its over. I am also glad to see I am not the only one whose family eats and takes off. It seems like I am always the only one with the dysfunctional relatives and its nice to know I'm not alone!!! (Of course my relatives probably see me as the "crazy" one!! :dizzy: ) Even though I think I did well eating wise, I feel so "heavy" today. I had to teach a weight training class this morning and I didn't like how I felt. Yuck. I think my portions were larger than normal for the past 2 days. Now its back to normal. Down to business.

I was going nowhere near the stores yesterday for fear of being trampled by shoppers, but want to go to the bookstore today for some gifts. I am getting my mom the SB book because she has been feeling so well just following it wiith me . She has lost 2 pounds and feels great. I am also going to look for some other books for those people who have everything else-

Well, I am off to have a cup of tea. Brrrr........ its cold here and we have about 8 inches of snow- (TECH- it finally shifted North!!!) Its supposed to get up to 60 degrees on Monday, so we could have lots of melting... yuck! But its pretty now anyhow. Last night it was snowing such big flakes that we looked like we lived in one of those snow globes!! Have a great day everyone!!!

MUNCH

Hey everyone! I have been struggling today with a headache and queasy stomach. Breakfast was a piece of fruit, crustless quiche, and coffee with cream. I have not had lunch yet.

I finished one scarf, and started another. I am avoiding the afghan. I don't know why, I just am! :) I think I will go work on it for a bit before we try and go for a walk.

I did get some laundry done, even folded and put away. Yay me! I keep thinking there was something I needed to do today, but I can't remember what! :o I hope it was not real important! :s:

Ok, I am outta here! I will try and check back later!

MUNCH: Enjoy the snow! We get maybe one snowfall a year...or slush fall as the case may be. I enjoy it that often...no more! And everything closes here when it snows. The stores run out of milk, bread and beer. Its crazy!

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

Just got back in from taking TIPPY to the DOGGIE SPA...she got her massage, bath teeth brushed and her nails done. She feels so much better..
Had two hours to kill, but didn't do any shopping. Got gas, went to Borders Books and PETCO (TIPPY was at Petsmart)...ran home and ate a turkey sandwich and back out to get her. Stopped at the grocery and got some green beans, apples and tangerines..not much else going on. Game getting ready to start...we watch the GIANTS now that ELI MANNING is the QB and then tomorrow night, we'll be watching THE COLTS to watch the other brother and KING OF FOOTBALL...PEYTON!!!

SOLLY...well...the pulled it out...I really thought the THE CATS would win and so did my DB...he was in one of the SKY BOXES so he didn't care if they won or lost...he was eating and drinking with the elite!

GATOR...GOOD GAME....I loved all the fighting...what really happened with the first two that got ejected? I saw the FS guy running his mouth, but just couldn't get the jest of it.

MONET...breakfast sounds good...I had turkey like I said and just finished a grilled cheese...time to back on track for another month before Christmas eating starts!

Gotta fly...got laundry to do...

Im here , checking the board off and on. Just had mom over to have dinner with us and she had to head back home before it got dark since she does not drive after dark. I am baking a batch of christmas cookies now that will go directly into the freezer when I am done. They are for work and for Christmas day . I have another couple types I hopefully will get done by next weekend. ( course I did try one, had to make sure they were good :o )
I did use splenda if that helps.
Anyway, not much else going on. Im getting ready to exercise and then get some laundry done and then get things together for work in the morning.
Hope everyone is have a great weekend. ! :)
