Default Weekend Chat - November 19 and 20

Good early morning! I woke up a while ago and took my Tylenol3. I figured I'd start us up while I wait for it to take effect.

I am feeling extremely strange lately - the pain killers plus not feeling like doing anything except read or nap! I'm just not used to this! The house is very quiet without the Girls. I hope to get them home tomorrow.

So what's happening over your weekend?

Ruth - surgery is exhausting, isn't it? I remember being pretty tired even after a simple procedure like my carpal tunnel release surgeries. Healing takes a lot out of you! Take it easy, listen to what your body is saying, and enjoy a good, cozy read.

I actually made it to bed before midnight last night, *and* DS even let me sleep! It's almost like winning a lottery! I'm so used to being sleep deprived these days, though, that I woke up after about 4 hours of sleep, wide awake and feeling like something was wrong or like I was forgetting something. So here I am, reading Renaissance poetry and preparing to write another paper--my last for my BritLit class! Yay!

Hi everyone.. we are driving off to the coast hinterland tomorrow giving the new car a bit of a run and just having a relaxing day after all of the stress of exams.

H-ko... nice to read you got some sleep... it is a killer having broken sleep all of the time

Ruth.. take it easy. I know that it must be very frustrating but take this opportunity to have a relax.

Have a great weekend

Good Morning everyone! Everything is covered with a thick coating of frost today, it looks like snow!
Ruth, H-ko has some very sensible advice. Take advantage of this time to rest and heal, your body is telling you it needs time to recuperate. Before you know it you'll be back to your busy schedule. I'll bet your "girls" are missing you as much as you miss them!
I'm enjoying my coffee for now, but I have to get an overnight bag together soon and take off to DD's for the weekend. We're going to my GD's play at her school this evening, but I don't know if anything else is planned. I wanted to get my hair cut and colored while I was there, but I forgot to make an appt. I love the way my DD's hairdresser does my hair. She's expensive, but it's worth it. Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll have an opening.
Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Chicks

Just a short note to tell to you know I still around.Didn't do good at my W-I this morn I back to 149 again.

Ruth-you have to relax and let your body heal. Please don't do anything foolish,I know how boring it can be doing nothing when your on the go all the time. Maybe try a jig-saw puzzle or a word puzzle to change the monotony or reading.Just a thought.

Heather-Happy you found your zzzzzzzzzz's reading.I hate that when you can't sleep.

Marianne-Have a safe trip ,along with a enjoyable weekend.

Theresa-Its cold here also we might get some snow tonight.

Shatazi-Have a great time at the fair.

Good Morning everyone!

Ruth - Yes, take your pain meds. It's a funny coincidence, but at one of my Bioethics committees the night before your surgery we had an MD pain specialist speak to us about pain control. To distill her philosophy, pain is never a good thing and it is easier to treat when it begins rather than waiting until it is severe. So, take the meds -- being a hero is actually not good for healing and hazardous to your health.

I will bet that when the Girls come home, they will intuitively know that you aren't feeling well and will be cautious around you.

H-ko - Bet you are looking forward to Winter break. When does it start for you?

Marianna - There's nothing like a coastal drive to get mentally away from it all.

Schatzi - What did we ever do before the Internet? Now it has become a necessity.

Beach bum - Oh, that darn scale! Better luck next week. Keep checkin' in; I find that it helps in good times and bad.

Last night I went overboard on a dessert I didn't plan to have. It was one of those that somebody ordered "for the table" and one of my favorites. I didn't use ALL of my extra ww points, but it certainly wasn't healthy from the SBD standpoint. Well, back on the horse I fell off of today.

We currently have no running water as there is a major pipe leak and the plumber will be here in an hour. This happened in the middle of the bathroom re-do which is set to be finished this weekend because we are hosting the big family to-do on Thursday. It will be a busy weekend.

Other news: the time is drawing near for my trip to Cuba! It is a licensed legal research trip with the bar association and I leave in 2 1/2 weeks. Spouses can't go unless they are attorneys, so this is just for me. I told my partner that this is a combination of my mid life crisis (I turn 50 4 days before we leave) and the senior trip I never had. Everybody please pray to the weather gods as I guess hurricane season isn't quite over yet.

Well, off to get ready for the plumber.

Good morning everyone! I weighed in yesterday, and I lost 2.5pounds this week. I've completed 5 days on phase one, and I have a major non scale victory to report. Last night at the movies, I did not have any candy, soda, or POPCORN. This is huge for me because I LOVE

Today we have our last soccer game to go to, my daughter's season is finally finished! Cleaning out my van, and some housework are also on the agenda for the day. As well as getting my workouts in for today!

Have a great Saturday, it looks like we may get some sun today, though it's still very cold.

Schatzi - I know what you mean - stacking wood is quite a workout! I grew up in the country, and we relied heavily on our woodstove in cold weather. Every summer, dad would buy a truckfull of timber and split it, and we'd all (mom, dad, brother and myself) help to stack it in the woodshed. Not sure how many cords - at least a few, though. So I can sympathize with the Flipper syndrome!

I know what you mean, but at the same time, I miss the workout! I just can't seem to get into "pointless" exercise - I'd rather lift sacks of feed or carry loads of wood than lift weights. And I know that exercise isn't really pointless, but I'm very much a multi-tasker, and on the few occasions that I've worked out, I couldn't accomplish anything else simultaneously. That drives me crazy! Well, hopefully we can move into the country once I've finished school, and I wouldn't have time to care for animals or a garden until then, anyway.
