Default TOM question

Not sure where to post this so I'll just put it here.

How common is it to mess up your monthly cycle by dieting? And what do you have to do to resolve this?

It should be that TOM but it's late and no sign of it arriving any time soon, tested and got a negative. I've dropped 12 pounds in the past month so I'm thinking that has something to do with it but dh and I are wanting to start trying again in January so I need to fix this little problem.

Any ideas other than calling the doctor for provera?

Normally my cycle is right on track. My doctor ruled out PCOS already so I know that's not an issue. I talked to the nurse today and she said if it doesn't start by friday to come in for a blood test.
