I'll be back later, James made me breakfasts!! MMMMM....smells good too!

11-10-2005, 04:35 PM
Back again for a few minutes! :D

Susan~I meant to ask you how you liked Bewitched...was it good, worth renting? I am thinking about renting some DVD's tomorrow, haven't seen any good movies in a while. Well, we did see SAW2 while in GA-Josh wanted to go see it. It was good if you like movies like that, which I do. There definitely will be a SAW 3! Wonder how far they will take them, if it will be like Friday the 13th where Jason kept coming back?! Anyway, what is up with the e-mail? Maybe she actually wanted you to see it to know that Mike is working and pretended to send it to someone else. Well, hopefully if he is working a good job and they track him down you will get child support on a regular basis. :crossed:

Marti~so what did James fix you for breakfast? I cooked this morning, something I hardly do, for breakfast that is. I usually just have a bowl of cereal or McDonalds hotcakes w/o butter and/or syrup. But I fixed some good old oat meal, bacon and biscuits. Probably nothing good like James cooked but it was good! Once in a while I will cook breakfast for dinner. Enjoy your breakfast and your time with James!

Anywho...just dropped in for a few while I am eating lunch which isn't very good. Just a plain sandwich and a banana. I hate it when I have nothing to do for the day...end up spending too much time on the computer. Well, i am outta here again. See ya ladies!

Hiya ladies,

Angie - we have a super Walmart here, with entrance doors at 2 locations, and lots of different door greeters. I like all of them. Hey, how'd the blood work turn out? Is your iron up?

Susan - if Mike is driving a truck, you ought to be getting a lot more money now, right? Bet xmil will be sorry she sent you the email, lol. Sounds like your company likes to downsize older employees. Watch out in a decade or so, lol.

Cristi - aww, I think it's so sweet that you're waiting Thanksgiving dinner for Josh. That's what I would do, too, in your shoes. Speaking of dinners, we sometimes have breakfast for dinner, too. It's really hard for me, pointwise, but I like it, and so do Neal and Kate.

Marti - glad you're liking the reference department. How long will you be there? Will you be making homemade crust for the pies? After reading all about the pies, my mouth is watering for some, lol.

Yesterday I took off, on the spur of the moment, with my sister Katie to Evansville. (no tornado damage where we were, btw) She had some Christmas shopping to do. Since I'm almost done with mine, I shopped for myself. :) Got a new Christmas shirt and a couple other things. I did buy Neal some new watch caps. He goes through them like crazy, getting them all dirty or pilled.

Then today, I took Caylin and did the Wally World thing. It was really crowded in there, and she gave me a run for my money, even though she was sitting in the cart. With so many people, I had to keep my cart close to the shelves, and she kept pulling stuff off the shelves. She turned 2 last month, so I blame it on that, lol.

Katie's cooking tonight - she usually does on Thursdays. Barbecue chicken, seasoned rice and green beans. We always have salad fixins, too.

11-10-2005, 05:45 PM
I didn't watch Bewitched Cristi, I didn't have time last weekend.

I got the check and cashed it!! It was for 135 and his ex got one for 107 - so we are sharing my 244 order amount - which I don' tunderstand - even though it has been explained to me. Automatic change of the order doesn't happen I have to request for a review. So, caseworker said she will send out the forms to me. See ..........she didn't offer and can't confirm that he is working at the truck company but I said I knew and how long before I find out on medical coverage for Gaby??? She said the 7th of Dec and it can't cost him more that $ isn't going to cost him that much.

better get!! Hectic day and week and basic

Nothing new around here... have theatre rehearsal. Basement is looking awesome. Once I was done my blood work I went up to starbucks for a latta and heard this guy who is a realitor talking on his cell. Once he was done I asked him if I could pick his Offered to buy him a coffee,,,anyways we had been getting alot of calls from realitors wanting us to let them sell our house..the housing market here is wild. The builders aren't even taking names for houses anymore its over a year wait. The value of our house just jumped 20 grand in a year,,,and now with the school across the street being built as we speak thats another 10 grand plus now our basement is going to be finished add anothe 10...wahoo We will make over 65 grand if we sold right now. Thing is where would we go? ...
gotta get going...ttfn

Hi ladies! :carrot:

I like carrots, and that dancing carrot is really cool. I like the banana, too... :cb: They look like they are friends, and hang out on the weekends, ya know? :carrot: :cb:

I have tomorrow off, yay! Noah is here too, has tomorrow off school, so we are going to the mall with my friend and her son who is Noah's age.

Had to buy a new stove -- well, we could have tried to get this one fixed, but it's very old, and we might not be able to get parts anymore. That's what happened when we tried to get the dishwasher fixed when we first bought this place -- had a home warranty, and they couldn't get parts for it, so we got a new one for free, but don't have the warranty anymore. So, this one we paid for ourselves, but it will be nicer than my last one -- sealed burners, easier to clean, self cleaning oven, two standard burners and one high power one, and one simmer burner. It should be delivered Saturday, which is good, because I was wondering how I would make Thanksgiving dinner with an oven that was only working part time! :chef: I would have ended up with a huge thawed out turkey, no way to cook it, and burgers for dinner :burger: :cbg:

I thought I was just going to make a small WW friendly Thanksgiving dinner for hubby and me, but then both Noah and Mike told me they love my cooking and want to have dinner with us, :hungry: so now I have a cook a big meal. Mike did ask if he could come over early and help because he wants to learn his way around a kitchen better -- so at least I'll have a sous chef. I found some really good recipes in Cooking Light Magazine last year that I'll make again this year -- cranberry sauce with orange peel and port wine (and I think I throw in a few dried cherries too, what the heck) and whipped fresh sweet potatoes with bourbon, maple syrup, and toasted pecans....mmmmmmmmm....and I found a new recipe this year (still WW points friendly) for little phyllo dough pumpkin tarts with a candied pecan topping, kind of a cross between pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work, but I love to cook, and I'll have Mike's help, so it will be fun....

Ah, too sleepy to do individuals tonight -- but I did have fun reading through all of your goings-on!

G'night, JL's,
Mary Kate

Hello all!!

Cristi--James made some turkey sausage and potatoes (mixed together) And he seasoned it up w/something that I'm not sure of, but it was sooooo good! I felt spoiled. He even made me lunch before work! I was thrilled! He pressure cooked some chicken and then chopped it up in the food processor and then fixed it up like it was tuna. That was very good too. Where did he learn to cook?

Jane--I do like reference. It's a lot more mellow in there. I'm really unsure of how long I'm suppose to be in there. I thought just this month, but I'm hearing at least 5months so I can cover for this girl while she goes on maternity leave. She'll leave in December and be back in March. Wish they would clue me in, because I REALLY want a day shift! As for pies....of coarse homemade crust!! My grandma gave me this recipe called "no fail crust" So flakey and so good! Boy.....I'm gaining weight just thinking of Thanksgiving!

Susan--WTH??? I just don't get the systems around here! Or anywhere for that matter. Why would you be sharing your court order amount?? That's ridiculous! Hope things get straightened out for ya!

Angie--Goodness gracious girl! You had the ticker done right before, you just didn't paste it in your siggy! I'd do it for you if I could. But anyway...I will tell James to make a special trip to Canada so he can cook for you for a week. Think he'll go for that?? :D I'll let you know how it all turned out.

MaryKate--James & I have been eating so well and I had to ask him about thanksgiving and what he wanted me to do. Did he want low cal/low fat (which is what we're doing) or what? And he said "Heck no....we're going for the gusto and eating until we get sick." Oooohh...doesn't that sound fun? We'll just go back to the way we've been eating after the holiday.

Ugh....I think I may have a bladder infection or something. (sorry to share that, but it's true) It's uncomfortable and I feel I need to keep "going" once I've gone. So tomorrow.......I'm calling the doctor. I'm tired of drinking tons of water and cranberry juice in hopes that it'll clear....I want drugs to get rid of it!! (makes me feel dirty! how did I get one? I've never had one before!) I go. I'm so tired. I think I'll sleep until noon!!!

Hugs to you all!

:sunny: A very good Friday morning ladies & a Happy Veterans Day! :sunny:

I woke up in such a good mood this morning! Ready to face the world and the wind! That is the only thing I don't care for about fall & winter in KS-it is windy as ****! It truly makes it hard to walk, especially when I have a sore throst. I fell a cold coming on. Of course V has one and I told him stay away from me! So next week I may hit the mall. Going to call later to see what time they open for the walkers. I think it is 8 a.m. but not sure. And that is the time I walk every morning. I leave at 7:30 but with work traffic and lights I get to the park at 8:00. Anyway, I am hoping it is 8. I tried the treadmill and I just don't think I am going to make it through winter on that. I was lucky to get 2 miles yesterday. It just bores me so. Anyway...

Marti~how sweet of James! I would love a man to cook for me. Well, Vince has and can cook but I took over when we married. He can't bake though. No problem sharing you have a bladder infection. I can only imagine the pain. I've never had one or a kidney infection but my sister would get them once in a while and they were very painful for her. She drank lots and lots of cranberry juice per Dr.s orders.

Susan~that is a bunch of crap. Why would you have to share your CS? But then you are dealing with the government and I think that says a lot. I will never understand all the mumbo jumbo with that. I have a friend that went through the same stuff because her ex hid everything and started a new family. So the kids got screwed. And that's the's not the ex that it is getting screwed but the kids in all this and I don't understand why they can't see that.

MaryKate~you can still cook and eat WW friendly even with having to cook a big meal. Just don't tell anyone coming over! I know it's harder said than done. Glad you will have Noah and Mike over for Thanksgiving. Hey, want to share the pumkin tart and the sweet potato recipes? They sound soooo good! I too like the dancing carrot and banana! Too cute! :carrot: :cb: Have a fun day at the mall!

Angie~I didn't even notice your new avatar, sorry! :o I need to pay closer attention to these things. I thought it was still the 5 pound one. Anyway, WTG on reaching 10 pounds! :bravo: Are you guys thinking about moving again?

Jane~okay, fill me in on watch caps...don't think I have ever heard of them. Probably know what they are but might not have heard them called that. :dunno: Hope dinner was good last night, it sounded good.

Hi to everyone else!

I finally finished that book last night and must say I was a little disappointed. I don't think it was as good as the others and didn't like the way it ended. I don't know...maybe it's just that I was in a reading mood and not that interested in it. :dunno: But I did finish it and off to finish the next one and start one I have been dying to get to. It is the third in a series kind of. Also, got my Thanksgiving cards ready to be mailed and watched my favorite shows...The O.C., CSI and Without A Trace. Of course I completely forgot that today is Veteran's Day so the mail won't be running. I went a head and took the cards to the post office anyway. Was going to do it tomorrow but was out and about this morning so went ahead and mailed them-they won't go out until tomorrow anyway. Took Ernie dog out to play and picked up poop while out there. It's such a nice day and I hate to be cooped up inside but the wind makes it bad. Should have never cut my hair! That's the problem...not so much the wind, but my hair blowing in my eyes, face and mouth. Not good when you have make-up/lipstick on! Okay, in a chatty mood for some reason and I probably should cut this off now, otherwise I will just keep babbling!

Take care ladies and have a wonderful Friday/weekend!

The whole CS gives me a headache. I almost want to discontinue with the state CS office and just go after him privately. It all began when I had Gaby on state medical and CS steps in to help get her support.
Now it is all about the office making me do all the work and wait, wait, wait while they protect HIS rights and basically screw the children.
It is a pain. Though I wonder if asking for a mod is in my best interest or just hang onto the 244. I will need to do the calculation and figure out.

Like he is going to work there for a loooooong time - haha- he will be strung out in a few months. He can never hold a job and making the $$$$ will only mean he can buy drugs now.

anyway- I am working - just wanted to say hello!!!!

Susan, I just understand the things they do...I wonder if it was them in that situation it would continue? hmmm NO!
Cristi,,,malls should be open now,,,which is way past noon. I worked this morning then ran to Micheals for Momma Chris who is making me another shawl. She spoils me!
Marti,,,Gawd woman you are lucky! My mouth was watering thinking of your dinner...
I made shrimp last night,,,used a caserole dish,,added some butter buds,,lots of cajun spice and garlic...WAHEEE dat was good. I made steak with it,,,I sliced them up thin and threw them in another caserole dish with BBQ sauce..gosh Im a good cook when I want to be! lol
Anyways Marti,,I had an infection years ago,,,when I was 8 months pregnant with Tanner and that is what brought labour on. Drinking alot of water is a good thing,,flushing it out naturally,,,they will also say to do sits baths.
Hope you feel better soon.
well Im off to clean the yard since its nice,,,windy but nice.

Hi gals--

This one will be short as I need to go to the pharmacy.'s an infection. I knew it was for sure when I woke up this morning. I had a fever, and my lower back was in pain all night long. Pitiful.

At least I went to the doc's before it got really bad.

Ok....I'm off to go pick up my stuff. I may go to work and only work a few hours...I feeling crappy!! :(

Have a great night.

11-11-2005, 09:13 PM
Hello ladies!

Susan - yep, why in the world the courts protect the dads so much, I'll never know. I took it around and around with my ex, and finally gave up. Then I signed papers releasing him from CS if he would let me change our son's last name to my maiden name, since his name was highly unusual and associated around here with law-breakers. (I had changed my name back after the divorce) Funny thing is, it's a very, very famous last name now, but we're still so glad we got rid of it. Think Justin.

Angie - YAY for 10#s down!! :cp: You're doing great, and will have lost plenty by the time your surgery date gets here. If you sell your house, I know where you can move to - Southern Indiana!!! :) I'd love to have you for a neighbor. You talking to the realtor sounds like me - I'll talk to anybody anytime whether I know them or not, if I see a reason to.

MaryKate - your T'giving dinner sounds yummy. God forbid that I try new holiday recipes around here, though. The fam would have a cow. I do lighten up the recipes a tad though, w/o their knowledge. What they don't know will make them healthier, lol.

Marti - glad you found out for sure what's wrong. You'll feel much better after 48 hours. I'm glad to know you aren't going to put fresh pumpkin in store boughten crusts, lol.

Cristi - a watch cap is a knitted cap that men wear. It pulls down over the head, covers the ears, and usually has a cuff. You see them in black and other dark colors a lot. Neal is almost bald on top, so his poor head about freezes off without one, lol.

I have absolutely nothing new to say, except that in addition to no mail today, it didn't run yesterday, either. Every Saturday, there's a sub, and our regular guy must have wanted a 4-day break. Keep in mind that this is from the same post office that closes from 12 til 1 every day for lunch. No, I'm not kidding!

Gonna go surf.... see you later.

11-12-2005, 10:50 AM
Oh Jane - that's small town life for ya! Our P.O. is packed from 12 -1 , of course, I try to stay away then and go when everyone is at work. Your previous post did get me moving on our Thanksgiving, so thank you, lol!

My son's birthday is on Thanksgiving, so that adds some more festivity. My brother will be over as well as my MIL and her partner. I ordered a free-range turkey from New Seasons. I love doing that; I can do it online, then just waltz in and pick it up at the butcher, and they usually throw in 5lbs of organic potatoes and chicken broth. Our dinner has been sort of slimmed down for years. We have a turkey and I make garlic mashed potatoes. I'll steam some broccoli and have some cranberry walnut rolls. Maybe we'll live large, and I'll make some gravy. No stuffing, so heavy casseroles. This year, I am thinking of making some pumpkin muffins with cream cheese frosting, since it's James' birthday. Haven't decided yet how to spend the rest of the day. We usually see my Grandma is Salem, but I don't think I can squeeze that in this year, since we also have a church service in the morning. I'll just have to work all that out I guess.

Marti - so sorry about the infection. You'll feel lots better after you get an antibiotic. I used to get lots of bladder infections when DH and I started, ahem, dating. You don't really want to know why :o I use to chug cranberry juice, but baking soda in water helped, too. Hope you can get the day schedule you want.

Cristi - I haven't been posting as much as I used to so this is late in coming, but you are doing such a great job with your walking! I can tell you are determined, and it's paying off. I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your son, he does look tired in the pictures, can't imagine why :dizzy:

Speaking of determination, seems like everyone is on a roll around here. MaryKate and Angie and Marti are all losing..Jane's continuing to do well..then there's little ol' me... WW just wasn't working out for me this time around. So I switched back to counting calories on Fitday and this week I lost 2 lbs. With all the exercising, I just needed to change my system. This is not unusual for me, I have two or three ways of keeping track: WW, Fitday, and Zone(or sometimes Core) and I switch around depending on how my life is going. I just need to make changes now and again to keep me on my toes. Sounds weird, I know. I figured if I can lose 1 pound a week, I'll be at goal by Vegas. That's pretty motivating. Even though I am lousy at weight loss goals....sigh.

Have a great weekend everyone!

11-12-2005, 03:38 PM
Hello ladies, and a good Saturday to you!

Katy~WTG on the 2 lb. loss! :bravo: I don't think it is weird at all. We all have to do what works for "us". Yes, Josh was tired. He said they had stayed up until 2 or 3 a.m. (guess they were all excited) and then had to get up very early. Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds delicious! :T Especially the cranberry walnut rolls and pumkin muffins w/cream cheese icing! I am not sure what is on the menu for us yet.

Jane~I see...I knew I probably had an idea of what the caps were-just never heard them called that. That's small town livin' for ya, not to say that is a bad thing. I love small town livin' though!

Susan~I am sorry you have to go thru all that with CS. I will never understand why the always seem to favor the father. I hope today is a better day for ya. :)

Angie~oh, yes, the mall was open. They open early but I wasn't sure how early. The stores open at 10 a.m. except during the holidays. I think the day after Thanksgiving they change their hours to 9 a.m. until Christimas. But the actual mall opens up earlier so people go there to walk before the stores are open. I need to find me a shawl speaking of them. I haven't been able to find one anywhere!

Marti~I hope you are feeling better today girly. Again, I can only imagine the pain since I've never had a b-infection, just seeing my sis go thru it lots of times. :grouphug:

Well, ladies I am cooking some pinto beans for chili today. Thought it would be good since it was "supposed" to be raining and a little cool outdoors. Well, I had to switch the air on because it is supposed to get up to 80! :yikes: Talk about some weird weather we are having. They are saying we are going to have a mild winter, not just here in KS but everywhere. I would like to see some cooler weather. I am not a chili/soup person on a warm day...I know weird. Anyway, just sticking around the house and doing some reading and cleaning. Did laundry yesterday but will probably do another load. V is working this weekend. That company cracks me up. They do this every year...realize they are not going to get the 300 planes out they are supposed to so wait until November and December and work the guys every weekend until January. They usually work 10 hour days but haven't started that yet. Spent a while adding some pictures to shutterfly this morning. I really need to get a digital camera! I am getting worse and worse with this scanner and getting the pictures into it straight. Actually, I put them in straight but somewhere down the line it goes crooked! Anyway...if you would like to take a gander at the park that I go to to walk heres the link. I had to send some pics to a couple of people so I added those while I was there.
It really is a nice, big park-we love it. Wish it was closer though. Well...

Take care ladies and have a great weekend!

Jane, my mom changed my name back to her maiden name,,,not legally so when I went to get my SIN I had a tough time. So I went from a good Irish name to a very Native French name...and now I have a Dutch I was really happy about loosing the native name,,there are just too many law breakers with that name. Hated being associated with them.
Marti, hope your feeling better soon...I know it hurts. Yuck
Katy,,what is cranberry nut rolls? Or I should say,,,do you have a recipe. That sounds so yummy.
We already have plans for Christmas,,,we will be heading to our old neighbhours in Sylvan. Just wanted a quick hello here!

I made it to work only to turn around and go back due to a fever coming on. It was such a long drive home!! Then I spent the rest of the evening thinking I was going to die w/out James being there to nurture me back to health. :D

Today I'm feeling extremely week. Very tired, and just not in the mood for anything! But it's the weekend. I hate to waste it away on doing nothing. So....I think I'll waste part of it, until James gets home. Then we'll see what happens.

I'll do individuals later.....I'm going to go take a nap.

11-12-2005, 05:16 PM
Good Afternoon

Sorry you aren't feeling well Marti - especially when no one is around!

I cut my finger last night - bleeding all over and sure to pass out with no one there to appreciate my suffering - almost seemed a waste. I called my mother wanting her to come to watch Gaby ( who was asleep - this is 10pm at night) while I race to the emergency to get sewed up and her reply is "you don't need stitches, as long as the cut isn't on your face. Just wrap it up and go to sleep." is a nasty cut. I was cutting a slice of KFC chicken to dip in the coleslaw that I bought. 10 piece meal for 15.99 - blah - blah.

I am heading for JoAnns because I can't find my coupon for Michael's. Gaby & I are determined to make candy canes for the XMAS tree. She made one at the sitters and was so proud. I was thinking of boxing up some of her arts/crafts for her father??? I thought that was a nice thought until I thought why????? I torture myself - I want to share her with her father - who else would think she is just as wonderful as I do??? *sniff*......Doug adores her but it isn't the same.

btw - her name is my maiden name. Though it was HIS after the birth. I think that was my first trip out after recovering from the childbirth was to department of vital stats to change her name - lol Since he wasn't on the birth cert I didnt have to have permission. .....and he wasn't on the birth cert because I was legally still married.
I know.......what a muddy past I have! lol.

k - going. Hope you all have a super weekend.

HI Ladies!
I'm back after about 10 days away because of computer problems. Hope everyone is OK.

Marti - I've had a few infections - not fun. Hope you're better.

Tomorrow is my granddaughter Chloe's 5th birthday. The party is here since their apartment is so small. But somehow this year I ended up making the cakes & cupcakes. I'm not sure how that happened??!! I have the 2 cakes done & will do the cupcakes shortly.

Work has been busy. One of the other transcriptionists resigned so I have a feeling there is some overtime in my future - that's OK, the $$ will come in handy for the holidays.

My back & hip has been bad again. I don't think I've walked upright for about a week now. Went to the chiropractor this morning & it's better. I just have to be careful for a few days.

I've been really careful with my eating plan these last 2 weeks, but nothing is happening. Trying not to snack in the evenings is the hard part.

Time to go make the cupcakes!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Gawd help me! Monte brought home not one but two cases of nanaimo bars...each case has six containers of the horrid stuff...*teeth gritting,,,I need to resist.

11-12-2005, 07:11 PM
Back again for just a few minutes.

Connie~nice to have ya back! :) Sorry about the computer problems. Hope the birthday party is fun!

Susan~so did you make it to the emergency room or do as your mother said? I think if you thought it needed stitches then it probably did. Hope you are not in pain.

Angie~what the heck are nanaimo? Never heard of them but they must be good if you are having a time to resist them. Tell Monte to get them out of the house!

I guess I am different from you ladies...I would have never changed the kids names regardless of the father, the association of it etc. I wish I would have kept my first married name because I don't feel like a R******. And the name is so interesting. Plus I had been a F*********** longer than anything else. Although, I still use it. About meanings...the kids last name means to turn and kill. You should see the looks on peoples faces when they tell them that! Anyway...the reason I came back, other than to say HI...was to give this link to Marti or anyone else who may want to take a look. It's to the magazine Looking Good Now! I know you said you might check it out Marti and this will save you from buying it if you don't like it. I just came across the link today when I found the October issue. Thought I had subscribed to it but apparently I forgot so did so online. Here goes:
Okay, I'm outta here...going to go make some cornbread muffins to have with the chili and some pig in a blanket for DD because she doesn't like chili.

Hope you all are having a great weekend! See ya

First, it's tacky glue, then it's mod thing you know you've bought a hot-glue gun and your hot-gluing dingle berries to a lampshade!

It's a good thing ;)

So is this....

Let's all craft away! Ar least I will when I am done being addicted to knitting socks

Happy Saturday!

WI today, not too good, up a pound, kind of been see-sawing back and forth the last few weeks. Disappointing because I've been trying to be good, but I haven't been drinking water like I should, and had stopped writing everything down and weighing and measuring everything, so back to the drawing board. Just gotta keep plugging along and not give up, 'cause I'm in this for the long haul :D

Was a busy, busy day. After WW (we go to the 6:30 am meeting on Saturdays so it doesn't interrupt the whole rest of the weekend), we went to Home Depot and Costco. Tim crawled around under the house to hook up cable for the TV in the spare room, and we bought some heavy duty wire shelves for the closet in the spare room -- want to make better use of the space. I've been inspired by Clean Sweep TV show, and even got a Clean Sweep book at a book fair at work. So tonight, now that we have cable in that room, maybe work on the closet while we watch the hockey game tonight.

Cristi, I'll post a few recipes on the recipe thread :) I agree, we can definitely do a WW-friendly Thanksgiving...and least not a WW-enemy Thanksgiving! Our WW leader does a really scary exercise each year -- gives you a paper plate and has you write what you typically would eat at Thanksgiving, with the portion sizes and points. Holy cow!!! It's hilarious because people are appalled at what they typically eat, you can hear gasps and shrieks of disbelief throughout the room, but it's very eye-opening and makes you realize that you should really choose what you love best, and forget the rest.

Hi Connie, good to see you again  I used to make a birthday cake every month for the birthday potluck my team has at work, but finally put my foot down and told them it's too hard for me to do while I'm on WW. But for a granddaughter's 5th birthday? You bet I'd bend my rules and make her cake! :hb:

Susan, sure hope your finger is ok...stitches are important if the wound is likely to scar, but also if the edges won't close and it won't heal properly. What is Gaby making the candy canes out of?

Marti, I've had bladder infections before -- not for a long time, thank goodness -- and they can really make you feel miserable. Make sure you take ALL of the antibiotics you were prescribed, even if you start feeling better, and make sure to keep drinking lots of water and cranberry juice to keep flushing out your system. The more you drink the more you have to pee, but the more diluted it is with tons of water, the less it will hurt. And if you are prone to get yeast infections from taking antibiotics, like I am, try eating some yogurt that has active cultures, like Yoplait or Dannon. And get lots of rest. :nono: Sheesh, can you tell I'm a mom?

Angie, I can't believe you are done with your Christmas shopping! I haven't even started. Well, only a little...a friend gave me a loose aquamarine that she didn't want, and I'm having it set on a post as an earring for Mike (it's his birthstone). I'm also looking for a good sale on a basic house/auto toolkit, because he's always calling us to borrow a hammer or a tape measure. And we already told Noah his big Christmas present was his ticket to NIN, but I know we'll get him something else anyway. No clue what I'm getting for Tim, maybe a nice leather motorcycle jacket. Mailing was such a hassle last year, and I won't be doing my typical cookie baking/candy making frenzy, so I think I'll mail gift cards to Tim's mom, my mom, and my sister's family, much easier. We need to be a little bit conservative this year, because we are saving to go to Disneyland on spring break, and want to go to Vegas in June, too! And I'm with Cristi -- what's a nanaimo bar?

RosyKate, your dinner sounds like it will be wonderful. Are the cranberry walnut rolls and the pumpkin muffins WW friendly? If so, I'd love the recipes :chef: Interesting that you mentioned baking soda in water to help bladder mom swears by that to help get rid of a cold.

Jane, I know what you mean about messing with tradition. I miss having dinner with my sister's family since they moved to Idaho, but I like having more control over what I serve. My sister's family had to have jellied cranberry sauce out of the can and yams canned in syrup with half a box of brown sugar and half a bag of marshmallows on top...but last year Tim and I weren't even doing WW, but I made the homemade cranberry sauce and the whipped sweet potatoes, and we loved them. Little changes help, like making the green bean casserole Tim loves with 98% fat free mushroom soup, and only sprinkling the French-fried onions on top for flavor, instead of mixing a whole bunch into the casserole. And I always make a huge veggie tray to nibble on while the turkey roasts, and put out dip made with fat free sour cream, and no one knows the difference. :hungry:

OK, the hockey game is on, so duty calls...gotta go support the San Jose Sharks!!!

See you soon,
Mary Kate

Hello again girls--

I thought I would pop in again to see what you've all been up to. I've been running a fever all day today! I had no idea that you'd run a fever along w/this so I had to look it up and see why, something to do when your kidneys have been infected. Just wonderful.................

Jame got home this afternoon. And he brought me home a bouquet of flowers, some sparkling cider and dinner! Just love him! He felt bad being away while I've been feeling bad.

Angie--You had me curious as the other girls so I had to look up what a Nanaimo bar was.....looks good. check it out wonder you're gritting teeth!! Just send each of us a treat and it'll all be out of your house! :D

Susan--Good lord girl.....I think we need to remove all sharp objects out your house and Susan proof it!! As for wanting to share Gaby...that's the wonderful mother in you. I think it's a wonderful you would want to do that no matter what an arse he is. I don't particularly care for Jhanai's dad, but since he is her dad, I do what I can to make him feel part of her life when it comes to holidays, since she's always w/me.

MK--Thanks for the advice on Yeast Infections. I forgotten about that. So I will make sure I do everything possible to keep that out of my system. There is lots of yogurt in the fridge since James eats it a lot due to tummy issues.

Cristi--I haven't actually seen the magazine in the stores. Maybe I'm just forgetting the name once I do start looking, or they don't have it here...I will keep looking. The link got me interested! Thank you for sharing w/me! Oh!!! and thank you for the postcard!! I got it yesterday! Adding it to my others!!

Jane--I was curious about the watch cap too. Glad you cleared that up! Just imagine what was running through my head!! You know, I didn't even notice if we didn't get mail yesterday....I hadn't check it in awhile and I had a load of it in my box when I checked it last night. I need to check it more often....I might have a winning check in there!! :D

Katie--So are you going to knit me some socks?? Boy, they sound like they would keep your feet VERY toasty!! My great grandma used to knit us slippers every year, as kids, we were always thinking "man, slippers again?" But you know, I miss those slippers!! Need to appreciate everything I get and don't take it for granted!

Connie--Glad to see you back. I've avoided overtime at work as much as possble. I don't think it's appreciated as it should be. So I figure, I would take a break from staying over until they realize that people are getting tired of being taken for granted and learn to appreciate us more.

I hope I got everyone....I'm sorry if I didn't, but I think my heads going to roll off :faint: if I don't get of the computer. Take care and I will chat more when I'm between feeling woozy!

Even if I sent you all one box I am still left with one case...and I crumbled..I ate 2! Mixed with popcorn.

Marti, what Katie says,,,drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Even though its like all you are doing is sitting there in your bathroom,,,drinking and sitting...drinking sitting,,,sitting and drinking...been there down that.

Cristi going to go check the mag out too...I just got hooked on a book called ME Magezine. Really enjoy all the articles.

Well off to bed i go...
Susan be careful please...

Hey ladies,

Katy - yay for the 2#s lost with calorie counting. Are pumpkin muffins one of James' favorites? They sound good with the cream cheese frosting.

Cristi - I saw shawls at Kohl's in Evansville. If you can't find one around you, you can always get one online. I do some of my best shopping online, lol. Your park pictures are very nice. I espcially like the views from the bridges.

Angie - oh, I just love getting Christmas letters. So few people do them. Our lives around here are pretty boring, so I never did do one. Is Sylvan close? I think it's so cool that you usually spend Christmas with your friends there.

Marti - glad you're feeling a little better and that James was so good to you. Take it easy today, friend.

Susan - we used to make candy cane ornaments with lace and beads. So pretty! Glad you now have some tacky glue. Never know what you may need it for, lol. Sounds like you may need it as a stitches substitute, lol.

Connie - have fun at Chloe's birthday party today. Share pictures if you want - we'd love to see them.

MaryKate - I usually am the one to take veggie nibblers to holiday get-togethers just to make sure there's something I can grab to avoid something else much worse, lol. Love the grape tomatoes the best.

We went to a wedding last night where Mary was one of the bridesmaids, and the twins were flower girls. They forgot to drop the petals on the way up the aisle, but made up for it on the way back down. Petals everywhere, lol.

Well, I think we have finally picked out a floor plan. It's not too big, but the master suite is nice-sized. And there's a morning room with 3 windows all in a row that will face the horizon where we can see deer and small animals early in the mornings.

Have a great Sunday!

11-13-2005, 07:13 PM
The party's over.....! There were about 20 people here for Chloe's birthday party today. Last year there were over 40 & I told my daughter that her dad would have to have a party for his side of the family & I would have one for our side because I just couln't do it any more. Chloe was a very happy and tired little birthday girl.

Jason (DS) just left to go back to Columbus after the party. I always worry until he calls that he got home safely.

I have one bathroom decorated in yellow "duckies" with quiet a few yellow, squeaky ducks sitting on a shelf. One of our grandsons loves to play with them but now he has hidden a lot of them & I can't find them! So I've been going through the toy boxes trying to find my ducks!! Maybe I have too much time on my hands !!! :D

This next Fri. is when Megan ( my DD) is having her surger for cervical cancer. Please keep her in your prayers. It has been scheduled for about 7 weeks now and they are hoping it hasn't start to spread. Always something to worry about.

I might try WW again. I just seem to be struggling with the Michael Thurmond thing and I'm not sure why because it really does work. I think I'm actually afraid to lose a lot of weight. I feel that people will expect more out of me if I get thin and I just don't have any more to "give". Taking care of DH and working is all I can manage. Taking care of Chloe a few nights a week adds to things too. Maybe I'm crazy or something, I don't know. My doctor keeps telling me that losing weight is easy - you just have to do it. (Spoken like a man). Then I reallly criticize myself for being so weak and giving in to the wrong foods. I guess I'm ranbling, not sure what the answer is.

Time to get a last load of laundry done.

Morning Ladies--

My wonderful husband left to head to K-Falls (Klamath Falls). He has decided that when his training is over, he wants to stick to the pool that goes to K-Falls all the time. That way, he'll definately get days off all the time instead of working every single day w/out a break unless he calls in. That'll be nice. I've finally gotten used to his schedule and can get an idea when to expect him home.

Have you checked out the cute new smilie?? I'm going to have to use it somewhere...

Angie--Maybe you could send us a couple treats then??? :D You know it doesn't hurt to have a treat every now and then, as long as you continue w/the program that you're on.

Jane--Your floor plan sounds so wonderful. I want to wake up in your house and see deer and other wildlife!! Are you feeling better about having to rebuild? I bet your DGD were adorable flower girls!! How sweet that must have been to see!! going to share a photo w/us?

Connie--Your DD will be in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that nothing has spread and that everything will be fine. Sending you a hug!

Well I have to say I'm definately feeling much better! Amazing what antibiotics can do to a body!! Yesterday James took me to a Crafts Fair at the fair grounds. Not a lot going on there, but he knew I wanted to go so we went....I was feeling tired and weak still, and at one point he looked at me and said..."I need to get you home, you need more rest time" Of coarse stubborn me wanted to check out the new "Super Walmart" first, and being out of the house instead of in bed all weekend was nice.....but after walking around Walmart, I finally agreed that yes....laying down would be great. Now, I sure wish I could take off from work for the rest of the week! Heck....the rest of the year would be fabulous! :D

Ok...I'm going to take my pills and go lay down. You all have a great Monday!

11-14-2005, 03:07 PM
Hello ladies

I finally finished the other book this weekend. I started on it Saturday night and finished it last night. I mentioned it on the book thread that I bumped up in case anyone wants to share any books they have read or are reading. Vince and I finished up some yard work preparing for winter. The only thing left is to unhook the hoses so they don't freeze. Didn't/haven't gotten in a walk yet. I did something to my back yesterday, not even sure what. This is the second time in two weeks which is odd. I don't usually have back problems unless I am gaining weight and I am losing! Needless to say, I didn't go for a walk. But I am going to aim for at least a slow mile on the treadmill, a little bit is better than nothing and I don't want to push it and make my back worse. I'll feel better in a couple of days and then can resume my normal walking schedule. I am happy to say that I am DOWN 2 pounds this week and I am loving being a loser!! :D :carrot: 8 pounds to go until my first goal is met! I am hoping to be down another 4 by the end of the month. :crossed: And if I can keep walking I am pretty sure I will be. I have noticed a difference in my eating. While I still eat the things I love and want, I am eating less of it, which is key for me. I am getting four bottles of water down most days. I would say 5 out of the 7 days I drink four bottles and the other two days I get maybe 2 or 3. For me that is good.

Jane~I do love that park, just wish we were closer to it. I would go everyday. The plans of your house sound really nice. Bet you guys can't wait to start. I will definitely have to check out Kohl's online and some other stores. I didn't see one I would like at Penney's so didn't bother looking anywhere else. Bet the twins were very cute in the wedding.

Susan~well, I hope your finger is better. Someone mentioned glue and it made me think about a new glue that dr.s are using now instead of sutures. I saw that on the news a while back. Looked kind of cool and you don't have to go back and have the sutures taken out. Have you and Miss Gaby started on those candy canes? That's going to be fun!

Katy~checked out the site just a little and it is cool! I will go back and check out everything in a while, just kind of skimmed it.

Angie~no wonder you are/were having a time resisiting those bars! :T They look delicious! Of course I am weird and wouldn't have a time...I like chocolate but can't take too much. There is a dessert at Olive Garden that DS and DH will get once in a while...chocolate lasagne...oh my goodness!!! It looks good but too much chocolate and too rich looking. I'm the weird one who likes chocolate cake but without frosting. What's ME magazine? I'll see if I can find it...I am a magazine junkie I swear. I have cut back though and only get the ones I really want...Better Homes & Gardens, Midwest Living, Backyard Living, Country Woman, WW, MORE and now Looking Good Now! Jeez, seeing that in writing seems like a lot and just think I cut back!

Marti~oh, I completely forgot about yogurt until MaryKate mentioned it! I do hope you are feeling better today and James is a sweetie! You are welcome for the post card...wonder why it took so long for you to get it?! I mailed it the day we were leaving Atlanta, which was two weeks ago! :yikes: You know I looked for that magazine at Wal-Mart and our local grocery store and didn't see it anywhere. I discovered it at Target and am wondering if they are the only store that carries it, wouldn't think so.

And sorry ladies for not sending one to everyone. Time just got away from us and I didn't get post-cards till we were leaving to come home. I sent my mom one and two to myself (I collect them and like them post-marked from the place I get them from when possible-I know weird!) but remembered Marti collects them also so thought I would send one to her. I promise one to everyone next visit! I even did a Jane...I made address labels so I wouldn't have to take the address book, but still didn't get one to everyone.

MaryKate~I would be ever so grateful to have your recipes. Once in a while I do mess with tradition because I like something different once in a while. But I still fix everyone's favs. Like the exercise the WW leader does with the plate, it really would be an eye-opener! What was an eye-opener for me at one of the meetings was when she (the WW leader) put in a bunch of nibblers in a bag. You know how people will take a bite of something, or a cracker here, a piece of cheese, a tootsie roll, a hersey kiss, a bite of this or a bite of that...well she put it all in a bag and added up the points of a bag of bites and I was amazed. I don't think people think about those little bites of this and that adding up to much when in fact they do. I'm like you...haven't gotten far with the Christmas shopping.

Connie~glad the party was fun! I used to feel guilty when people were always asking or expecting too much from/of me. I learned it was okay to say no and not feel guilty, took some time though. Don't feel like you don't want to lose weight because of that...just is okay to say no! I bet your duck bathroom is cute! I've seen a lot of the duck stuff at Target and thought it would be a cute kids bathroom, only I don't have small kids. Will keep your DD in my thoughts and prayers this week.

Well, ladies it has taken me a little over an hour to post! I have been trying to water the yard in between and I didn't want it soaked. The last watering for the season. V put the winterizer on it last week and for some reason it stayed kind of on top of the grass. I am going to mow it the end of the week and was afraid the mower would blow it off, to where I don't know. So I wet it down today since it is supposed to be cool the rest of the week. And now I need to go and check on a couple of things online and try to get that 1 mile walk.

Take care ladies and I hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

11-14-2005, 03:16 PM
Hi Marti!

Jeez, you've posted and gone while I was writing that stinking novel. Well, I was watering the yard in between! So glad to hear you are feeling better and hope you didn't overdo it yesterday. You are the second person that has mentioned a craft fair and I am dying to go to one. While we were in Columbus they had one going on at Riverwalk in the one building. I wanted to go so bad but it was Josh's time and I didn't want to take away from him-that would have bored him to death. Isn't that smilie just the cutest?! Going to have to check and see if there are any other new ones. So how far is Klamath Falls from where you guys live?

Okay, so I am outta here now. Just wanted to say Hi to Marti

Have a good one ladies!

11-14-2005, 04:51 PM
I am sooooooooooo tired! Up and down / up and down. Thinking about tacky glue and mod podge.

What is mod podge Katy??? You holding out on me or something?? lol Sounds exciting.

I have made 15/16 candy canes. I need to go get some more beads tomorrow. Gaby couldn't make any because the beads have such little holes. She is so cute she goes " I an't do it".....that is the way she pronounces it - without the "c".

Rach was up til 3 am and finally got up to watch tv until 5 am when I shooed her back to bed.

These kids are going to give me grey hair!!!!!!!

Co worker is working here today. He called last night offering to help with winterizing the building. I mentioned we had our maintenance man out on sick leave.
So, he brought me a package of cookies - lol I thought that was sweet. He offered to take me and the girls to the Zoo Lights in the coming weeks - so that was nice. *sigh* who knows -- sheesh. I am just tired and am enjoying crafting. lol

So, what do you think I should do Marti? Maybe get a box and put all the things I want to share with Gaby's father in it?? All her arts & crafts and such?? It is 5 months now since he has seen her. Just is sad to me. He is such a self centered arse. It is all about him and Gaby is so cute.

better get,,,,,,starving!!!

11-14-2005, 07:28 PM
Hi again...

Thought I would check in real quick before I head to the post office.

Cristi--There are crafts fairs going all over! I'm sure you'll get to one before you know it! As for how far K-Falls is...I had to ask James. He said it's 2hrs away. So about the same distance as Portand is from here. So either direction he goes, he's only 2hrs away. He had sent me some photos of the snow over there. I can't believe there is snow already. Which has me worried that it may snow here this year...........everyone wants it to, but I don't since I have a long drive to work (at night!) and driving in snow isn't fun. I would have to call in MANY times for that!

Susan--I would put whatever it is that you want Mike to have from Gaby in a box just like you said. And when he finally decides to come around and be the father that he's suppose to be, it'll be there. That way he can never say that she never thought of him. I have a friend who is having problems w/her ex, her boys live w/him. And as of right now, they refuse to see her. (so sad) But I told her to just keep writing letters and put them in a box, so that way, they know that she's always thinking of them and that she'll always love them and will never stop. It makes her feel better. I know it's a different kind of situation, but it could still help.

Ok...I have to go to the post office and mail some checks. Jhanai is getting her teeth pulled today and I had to make sure that it's getting paid for!

Hugs to you all!

(can you tell I like that smilie?)

11-14-2005, 11:13 PM
Hi ladies~

Back again! Just can't stay away :D

Susan~I agree with Marti...that is a GREAT idea! Hey, have you thought about making a scrapbook too?! I bet one of these days he would really enjoy that. Maybe take pictures of Gaby on special occasions, or every month or every three months, or just on her birthday and put them all in a scrapbook along with things she makes or pictures she colors or draws, or even a photo album. I did that with the kids...I made them all a photo album of pictures from the time they were born until I made the albums. Actually, just put them together. Of course mine is a different situation too because their dad is dead. But hey, a box is a good idea. Maybe get a plain box at Micheal's or even a shoe box and let Gaby decorate it. There's all kinds of stuff you can do. I know Mike might be acting like an a$$ right now but I do think eventually he will come around, hopefully sooner than later. Can't believe it has been 5 months since he's seen her, that's terrible.

Marti~oh, don't mention snow! :o They actually said something about a winter front moving in tonight and I kind of laughed. My first thought was, yeah, like that rain we got Saturday?! I am not ready for snow and I don't cherish the thought of you driving through it either. I can deal with it during the day but I don't drive in it at night. I am such a wienee when it comes to driving in snow and ice. Well, that's good that James is only 2 hours away. It may seem far but 2 hours really isn't. Unless of course there is an emergency. Bet the snow is pretty up there though. That's a great idea about your friend writing letters and such and putting them in a box. I have seen things like that happen so many times and it is sad when one parent turns the kids against the other. I don't know why grown adults can't set a good example for their kids and act mature in front of the kids for the kids sake. Eventually, the mother will have her time with the kids and then they may possibly turn on the father for doing that so no one really wins in a situation like that and that is just sad. I like the smilie to!

Well, I was on the computer writing Josh a long letter and just wanted to check in and see what's going on if anything. I watched my favorite, well, one of my favorite movies tonight, While You Were Sleeping! Love that movie! And now there is nothing on. Vince teased me because the movie was one Friday night and I watched it and it was on the next day, Saturday and I watched it again! I think I could probably watch it every day, that and Sleepless in Seattle which I watched Friday night. Another fav I think we have is Home was on Saturday and then on again Sunday evening and I watched it both times. I think we have it but if not I would like to get it. Love MaCauly (sp?) Caulken when he was young and in that. That one and Home Alone 2-Lost in New York, but not as much as the first one.

Anyway, Hi to everyone!

11-14-2005, 11:31 PM
Hi ladies,

Connie - hope all will go well for your DD. The best way I know to deal with weight issues is to just start writing. Whatever pops into your head, about anger/insecurities/weight/weight loss. Actually, I did this on a tape recorder because I couldn't write or type nearly as fast as my thoughts came pouring out. Then you can begin to deal with it.

Marti - glad you're better. I like the new smilie too! So cute. Hope Jhanai is ok after the teeth pulling.

Cristi - a big WOO HOO to you for 2 more pounds down. :cp: You're really kicking butt, friend. I don't know about you, but when I'm exercising better, it makes we want to eat even healthier. Kind of like I don't want to blow the good I did, you know?

Susan - not sure when Katy will see your question, so here goes. Mod podge is like a thin glue that dries clear. You can make collages out of pictures and then spread the mod podge over it all to seal it. Yep, kid'll give you grey hair, lol. Or worse. Mary has a magnet on her fridge that says: "Insanity is inherited - you get it from your kids." :dizzy:

Speaking of grey hair, I'm headed to the salon tomorrow. A week late. My stylist (also my nephew's wife) has had problems with her aging mom and dad, and she took last week off. So I really, really need a touch up and a trim.

Other than that - no news today. Same ol', same ol'.

Have a good one!

11-15-2005, 03:18 AM
Not much news here either. We are trying to plan a short trip back to IN. to see to a few things. Hopefully right after turkey day and back in 8 or 10 days. Should have all the details by Wed.
I got in a great walk today. We plan to keep it is so nice. Now if I can stop eating. :) Today I had chicken tortilla soup and a salad for lunch. Dinner was cottage cheese, crackers and an apple. I then screwed it all up and ate a handful of M&M's. Story of my life!
Hey...I told DH that there were a bunch of gals coming to Vegas in June. I said "too bad they can't come while we are here." He said "you can always come back for a few days." Woo hoo..... Now, if I can just hold him to that. If so I can plan to meet up with you JL's while you are here. individuals again...

11-15-2005, 09:46 AM
A quick hi from me today

When I used to work at the fabric store year ago, mod podge was used for decoupage, just like Jane said. Back then people used to decoupage everything, like lampshades and trash crafters still like to do that? For me, though, there's just no beating a low-temp glue gun!

DD4 is off for an EEG this afternoon. She's exhibiting some worrying behavior in her classroom, tends to shut people out to an extreme sometimes. While all concerned so far think she has a slow to warm temperament, the doc wants the test to make sure we are not overlooking anything neurological. So I have her up early to sleep deprive her. They want her to take a nap during the test, so here we are. She's watching Dora the Explorer and I am mainlining caffeine!

I did great at DS' soccer party last night! Only ate two small pieces of pizza and a big salad - no beer...calories came out ok for the day. yahoo!

Have agreat day everyone, send "Go to sleep" vibes our way around 2 pm PST, lol!

11-15-2005, 01:17 PM
Good morning ladies~

Man did the weather change overnight! Brrrrrr, it's cold! And the wind they say is blowing 35-50 mph! Vince and I laughed at the weather man last night because he mentioned snow and guess what? It was snowing this morning! It was actually mix of rain and snow and the temp right now is a warm 32 degrees! Okay, mall and treadmill here I come! Anyway, nothing much going on or to talk about. I did get half of my book read last night. Vince was teasing me asking me if I was going to finish that one tonight (last night) and I said I just might! Was up until 1:30 reading it because I kept saying, "One more chapter" and then would read another...didn't want to put it down.

Jane~thanks! :thanks: I'm trying to kick butt anyway! And yes, you are right...I too want to eat healthier because I don't want to blow the good I am doing-I refuse to gain this weight back. I realize I may go up a pound or two once in a while but I will not go up more than that. Just so tired of going up and down and up and down. Just need to get back on my walking schedule and be strict with it.

Sue~that would be meeting up with us in Vegas! Keeping my fingers crossed. :crossed:

Katy~hope everything goes well with DD and the test today. I think there are some who still decoupage today. I've seen some on one of those shows on HGTV, can't remember which one. It's a decorating show and at the end they show crafty ideas.

Susan~forgot to say, Zoo Lights sounds fun. I am definitely going to have to go to the one they have here. Wichita Zoo isn't the greatest but it's okay and I think the lights would be pretty. I think they call it that here too, can't remember, never went. We did go to this museum, Old Cowtown Museum one December. It was freezing cold but we braved it to see how the westerners celebrated Christmas, was kind of cool.

Well, that's about all I have. Nothing going on...definitely not going out in the wind and cold today except to mail a letter.

Take care ladies and have a great day!

Hi ladies,

Sue - wow, that would be great if you could be in Vegas with the rest of us, especially since you know the town so well. Tell DH you have all of us for witnesses that he said you could go, lol.

Katy - yep, portion control is key. Sometimes easier said than done, though. It's amazing how long I can make a single serving of my favorites last, lol. Hope all goes well with DD4. Let us know, ok?

Cristi - I haven't had a chance to check out the book thread yet, but I will so I can find out which book is so good. Its supposed to snow here tomorrow. Well, flurries, anyway. Which brings me to....

Carree - hope you'll jump back in, we'd love to hear what's been going on in your life.

There have been tornados again in Indiana. One touched down about 40 miles from here in Oden, and they aren't sure of the death toll yet. Katie was at school, but Mary's family, Neal and I went to the basement to wait it out. That's only the 2nd time in the 5 years that I've lived out here that we had to resort to the basement. I felt relieved when Katie and Terry each called to say they were ok.

Gotta run..... see you tomorrow.

Hello Jaded Ladies!

Man it was a cold one last night. It is a little chilly, okay, cold, this morning. I thought I was ready for it but I'm not! At least the sun is shining, makes it a little warmer. :sunny: Can't believe the guy across the street had his sprinklers on this morning and they didn't freeze last night. Was supposed to have a hard freeze last night.

Katy~thinking about you and little Leigh and wondering how things went yesterday. :grouphug:

Jane~glad you guys are fine. That's some scary stuff-tornados. I've never seen one or been in one and don't want to! Earthquakes are bad enough. Of course the damage from both are about the same and with a tornado you have time to do something, well, most cases. Anyway, glad you guys are fine.

Carree~hope to see ya around here, it's been a long time!

Marti~hoping you are better too!

Well, today is Wal-Mart Wednesday! Everytime I go now I think of that...I think Angie called it that. :dunno: Seemed to be a lot of people there today and I went early. It looked like a lot of people were getting stuff for Thanksgiving. Saw a lot of baking stuff and turkeys. I did get a few things for our turkey dinner so I don't end up getting it all at the same time. DD wants a ham so I think I will cook that on Thanksgiving day and then have the turkey on our actual Thanksgiving Dinner. Anyway, I was ready to sit down for a while after that and putting everything away. My back went out Sunday and I haven't been able to do much. Tried to walk yesterday and it was kinda funny! Funny, because I had to walk very slow and hold on for dear life! :tread: But it felt good to walk even if it took 20 minutes to do 1/2 mile! That is a horrible time for me, but hey, at least I was able to do something. Today it is better, but it feels good to sit down. I just hate being down like this and not being able to walk. I have to get back on track with my walking! I have to!! Anyway, not much else going. Went to Wally world, to the post office to get stamps, Christmas Stamps and then to get gas and a car wash. I like the Christmas Stamps this year, the cookie ones are cute! That's what I was doing last night while watching My Name is Earl. Has anyone seen that show?! Oh my goodness, it cracks me up! Didn't finish the cards though, will tonight. Thought I better get to doing it because I will mail them before we leave for GA. Will have too much to do when Josh comes home. I plan on spending a LOT of time with him while he's home. Vince and I are headed to SAMS this evening when he gets home to pick up the necessities. We ran out of Calcium and vitamin E a while back and I need to stock up on water. I've been getting it at Wal-Mart but it is a better buy at SAMS, you get more for about $1.00 more. Wal-Mart it's 24 for $4.98 and SAMS it's either 32 or 36 for $5.98. Anyway, :blah: :blah: :blah: I'm getting chatty.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Look, look, look! These are soooo very cute!

:thanks1: :turkey: :thanks2: :happ3: :snow4: :gift2:

I'm like a little kid in a candy store, or a toy store!

"That's where I'm gonna Bedazzle my initials", lol! I love My Name is Earl!

Leigh was a little trooper yesterday. She underwent an EEG, so she had to be tested asleepfor ahwile, then awake, and then breathing hard for 3 minutes. That's alot to ask of a 4 y/o, but she did it. We sleep deprived her a little by waking her at 5 am, and it did the trick, She was good and tired by 2 pm and it didn't take much to get her to sleep. She did ok with the "brain hat" as well. That's what we called the cap with the node-thingys on it. Couldn't figure out another way to describe it to her. The results go to a pediatric neurologist, then on to her pediatrician who will have blood and urine test results, then she will hopefully call me soon to tell me what's up.

Can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but she kind of checks out at school sometimes, could be problems filtering all the stimuli at school (like a sensory integration problem) or she could just be ignoring people because she wants to be left alone sometimes and it's a bit of an extreme response, in which case we start researching temperament resources or exploring play therapy or whatever.

Lots of fun :dz:

Jane - glad the tornadoes didn't get to you, but it sounds like a scary time. Are they done? Hope you don't have to go to the basement again.....

Gotta go to the bus stop - Later everyone!

11-17-2005, 12:44 AM
Hi ladies,

Cristi - I bought some of the cookie stamps, as well as the Madonna ones a couple of weeks ago. Really like the cookie ones! I've got everything I need for my T'giving dinner, except the rolls. Will wait til Tuesday to buy those. I'm afraid to wait until Wednesday, lol.

Katy - November is awfully late in the year for tornado weather. But the weather patterns have changed so much, nothing surprises me anymore. Hope all turns out well for Leigh. Sounds like she's going through a lot, but it'll be worth it to get a diagnosis.

Took Terry's kids to see Chicken Little this evening. Macy got a little bit scared. Although it's rated G, there were a couple of scary parts. All in all, it's a real cute movie, though. While I was at the theater, I bought some tickets for Katie and her friends for the 12:01 AM showing of Harry Potter on Friday morning. (Thursday night??) She's a Harry Potter freak, lol. They're expecting a sellout around here so that's why I got the tickets early.

Speaking of Katie, she ought to be hearing something from Disney any day now. Although I've warned her to not get her hopes up, she has, and will be devastated if she doesn't get accepted. I will be, too.

Gotta surf, then it's bed for me. Nightie night, chickas!

We made our flight plans to head back to IN after turkey day for 10 days. Have meetings with the builder and a few other things to take care of. Darn, I hope it isn't too cold back there. I have a feeling it will snow...JUST FOR US.
Sounds like you all have your Thanksgiving plans under control. Since there will just be the 2 of us we are considering going out for dinner. We have done it before and other than not having leftovers it was pretty good.

I am crossing my fingers about being in Vegas in June. Something to look forward to.

Jane,,,, the weather pattern is down right scary. We are having warm weather in a lite sweater warm. The next province over has snow 12-14 inches in one days snow. Fingers crossed for Katy...I hope she gets it.

Katy,,,I hope all is well with Leigh,,what a lil trooper thought to have that procedure done.
I now have 2 shawls made..Momma Chris is mad though shes behind in your knitting...for her real family...*yikes.

Cristi,,,Monte was telling me about this group who are against Walmart...that they have a web site and everything. How they unfairly treat their employees. Not sure if I want to know more cause well I like shopping there.
I have to stop at this store called Home Sense and buy two chairs,,,they are called video chairs...looks like bucket seats for a car. But I guess they massage and the head rest has speakers in it. Not sure how but when the boys are playing their games they can have this massaging and whatever. Thought that would be a great gift.

Marti good to know you are feeling better. Love drugs... I had a brutal migraine...happens here in the foothills...Chinooks cause barometric pressure that affect alot of people. Plus I usually feel yucky a week before TOM. So I was doubly wammied...and was physically sick..ya. Explains the .6 lbs loss. Cause I have to tell you all...*humbling I binged on nanaimo bars! 6 whole pieces,,,i figured it to being about 7 points each! That could also be why i was sick...but who knows. Bad Bad Nanaimo bars. Ive given most of it away. Took a package to Tanner's hair stylist even... btw He now has super short hair,,,and such beautiful hair color...deep rich mahogony (sp) He's in wrestling and had a tourny today..won 1 ,,lost 2...hes pretty sore right now...poor kid.

The play starts in 1 week...excited. I have Rups wig done...*sigh friggen thing was driving me to drink! try braiding 15 feet of sinthetic hair,,,like braiding spider webs. Was told last night need to make another wig like Rups,,,but black and not as long. (Sleeping Beauty) ~ teeth gritting was done. There are about a 1/2 of the staff at work who are coming,,,they walk by my desk each day and see me making day it was toes, out of plaster. They wigs...and yesterday I hand sewed baby bunting clothes. Was kinda cute,,,I had stained them with coffee to take the bright white out. And they were pinned around my a line of Today I struggled with the wig...if someone from afar was watching they would of thought i was doing some weird interpetive
Anyways thats about all thats happening...need to get my windshield fixed tomorrow. I have 3 rock chips and before it gets cold and spreads lines everywhere I will get them filled.

Hi girls!

Been so tired the last couple days. Can't wait until I'm finished w/the antibiotics. I don't enjoying taking medication.Especially ones that make you sleepy.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I will try and get to individuals tomorrow.

11-17-2005, 05:15 PM
Hello Ladies

Just a quick Hi from me for now. Had a busy day. But will be back tomorrow to do individuals. Tonight is favorite show night and I haven't been gettin gon the computer at night. Except for a couple of times every now and then when I get bored and there is nothing on the old telly. I am hooked on The OC, CSI and Without a Trace though-when they are new shows.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a nice day! See ya

Hello girls!

It's almost the weekend! And then next week is the big feasting day!! My how time has flown by! Before James left for work he told me he did some Christmas shopping last night. What!? I haven't even done any and he has? Since when are men ahead of the game??? :D

Cristi--The stores are all a buzz w/people doing last minute shopping for thanksgiving and just being out and about. I plan on doing my grocery shopping this weekend. Monday the latest! I'm taking Jhanai to see Harry Potter on Saturday (I got free movie tickets!!) and then afterwards we plan on doing a little Christmas shopping. It's always so busy w/people this time of year, sometimes I don't like being a part of the big crowds, other times, I just love it.

Jane--Jhanai says she sore after the pulling but feels much better. She even ended up pulling one tooth out herself a day later. She had to have one side done first, then the next appt. she'll have the other side. Hope Katie heard good news from Disney. Let us know!

Katy--Hope the test results come out ok for Leigh. Let us know what they say when you get all the results back.

Angie--I felt like I was hit w/a double whammy. I had started TOM on Saturday, while I was having a fever and feeling like I was sweating to death. Then I got so worried and paranoid about TSS and if I should take an IBprofin would that make me ill, all that jazz. (Fever will make a person a bit loopy I'm sure, so I was paranoid about everything over the weekend) But I'm feeling much better other than being very tired all the time.

Awww....I love the new smilies! :thanks2: :snow4:
Those two are really cute.

Ok...I've got some cleaning up to do then I'm heading off to work.

Have a great night!

Life does have its crazy days. It's tuff but somedays are just plain beautiful when i've lost 2 - 3 lbs.

I've been doing alot of research on diet centers and the scams that most of them are. I'm thinking about a weight loss day camp that people can go to and learn to cook, dance, yoga and just be supported with people in the same situations. I think of this eveyday. If we all had a comfortable place to go to that wouldn't cost thousands of dollars for 2 weeks. The weight loss centers where you spend 3,000 - 4,000 are great when your there but once you get back to your old routine, and cook the things you know, your right back where you were and out a lot of money. Would a day camp be doable? I think of nothing else. I am myself trying to loose 50 lbs before summer and am quite proud of myself somedays. I try to keep it all to myself because if I tell someone, they just say "keep at it". I don't need the words - I don't know if I'm making sense but my question is "WOULD A WEIGHT LOSS DAY CAMP WORK???"

Anyone out there with an opinion??

Marti,,,seriously Im not surprised that James has already gone out and did some shopping the guy is truly amazing.
I bought a game called Da Vinci at Walmart earlier today. Don't know whom Im going to give it to but looks good...Monte ya thats who Ill give it to...only cause I want to play it...ulteria (sp)
Oh ya Katy,,,forgot to mention that ya I watch My Name is Earl I laugh so hard...Ive missed a few but Brandon keeps me up dated...the part where his brother was cutting his toenails while he slept? did you see that one? I was having convulsions

Jane,,,how are things wise? I think you guys should just move to Canada..the weather is beautiful...walking around with a long sleaved top...warm.
Ill make room for you...

Hello Barbara...welcome to our group. Personally I think it would take weeks,,,as in over 10 weeks to be totally trained in eating well..and that means cooking well. I personally think they need to take into consideration someones financial situation,,,where they live,,,(city town) what is readily available. And of course racial background, and the biggy the size you are. As in WW the more you weigh the more points you get,,,so of course as you lose weight you lose points,,,would that not be the same with this? Need someone to literally dog your every step,,,shopping to storing your foods to cooking...planning.

Well Im exhausted,,,a whole day of shopping! I bought a beautiful wool coat at Value Villiage for 10 dollars and had it dry cleaned for another 9. ITS gorgeous.
So for this christmas party I have my whole outfit down now. Im wearing a black sequince top,,,black flirty skirt with a ruffle and crinolin around the bottom,,,and to top it off a hot pink cardigan with fur color. Im getting my hair done that day,,,and Becky is coming over to get done up. The whole shebang
Ive got teh two wigs I need to work on,,,and lots of hair product to do it with...I just hate fake hair...again the spider web feeling...*shudder I look like i have welts all over my neck and chest cause i keep scratching,,,creeps me out!
well toodles all...

Hi Barbara and :welcome2: Don't really have an opinion on the day camp thing except that I think anything is doable. I don't follow a plan or attend any place that I have to pay to lose weight. For me what seems to be working is portion control and exercise. I am one who has to do it this way so that it works for me. I don't see myself following any program and then quitting to be on my own. So...I chose to be on my own from the beginning. I don't count on anyone but me to lose the weight.

Anyway, I had planned on posting and doing individuals but after catching up I am out of time again. Thought I could sneak on before fixing dinner. Of course I would have had time had I not answered a couple of e-mails. Anyway, I'll be back tomorrow some time for sure. Have a good evening ladies.

Tata for now

Hi ladies. Another beautiful day here. We went to the grocery and then to eat. Went to
one of our favorite spots to play video poker. Lots of fun and I won a little. We got
home in time to watch our shows and just relax.
I made the travel plans and we will be home for 10 days. Meet with the builder and I will
see the Dr. re: the melanoma. Then back here. Just hope it doesn't snow while we are
there. UGH.

Marti- Glad you are starting to feel better, although tired. Your body is trying to tell you
something in you are not getting enough sleep. Your James is a special guy. He
bakes pies and now he shops early. What a catch!!

Angie- Your outfit sounds lovely. I especially like the pink sweater...woo hoo. And man,
you found a deal on the coat that's for sure!

Cristi- You are doing great just tje way you are, following your own plan and walking.
Sounds like you have a lot of will power. Keep up the good work.

Jane- When will you start building and have you decided where you will stay until it is
done? You might have said this and I missed it. How big is your new house going to be?
We are still fine tuning our plans and will meet with the builder when we are home. Our
house will be a single story ranch, around 1600-1700 sq. ft. and then DH's large
workshop. I just wish I could pull a "bewitched" and twitch my nose and have it done.
We built our present house and it was a process I am glad we are not going through this
time. Let someone else do it.

Barbara- Hello and welcome. I know what you are saying about the boot camp...some of
us need more direction than others. Some need more monitoring. I for one have very
little wollpower...and it shows in the struggle I have every day with my weight.
It is too bad that spas and weight facilities are so expensive.

Hi to all the rest of th JL's. Hope you have a good week-end planned.

11-18-2005, 03:36 AM
Don't ask me why that printed like that...I didn't do it that way. Computer glitch maybe?

11-18-2005, 01:24 PM
DO NOT POST HERE!!! Head on over to Weight Loss & Chit Chat #151, please :D See ya there!
