GOOD REALLY EARLY TO ALL MY BUSTIN BUDDYS!!!
I go back to work this morning and just couldn't sleep!! Why stay in the bed and get an achy back??? So I'm up!!!
GATOR... I was right there with y'all..I've been saying for YEARS that VANDY is going to step out on the field one of these years and THE SEC isn't gonna know what hit them! I'm afraid, that's really near!!!
I don't look for THE VOLS to win any more games!
I know that's not being a good FAN, but most of us have given up on them this year! Now that DANDY RANDY has stepped down (should have happend before now!) , they proved with THE POPES BOYS that NO ONE knows how to call the OFFENSE!!
MEMPHIS STATE will absolutely CREAM THEM!!
I need to email JACKIE and let her know that I'm not wasting airfare to come to LEXINGTON!!
As far as the BIG SHOT FANS MEETING WITH THE AD: Wouldn't doubt that a pound! It's happened before. When Bill Battle was coach, he had a year like this and after the ALABAMA GAME that year, he went out on Sunday morning to get his paper and found a MOVING VAN IN HIS FRONT YARD!!
We'll just have to wait and see...I know if PHAT PHIL doesn't pull out VANDY and KENTUCKY, he might as well make plans to to buy a JOHN DEER and work that farm he's got!!
MISSY,
WHEN THE VOLS rolled into the stadium area at LSU this year, the fans litterally ROCKED THE TEAM BUS!!
CINDY...You'll love your couches, but be sure to buy the protectant oil for the leather. My Niece and her Husband bought couches from LAZY BOY and
they insisted, in their case, because of the dogs! ENJOY THEM...I know y'all will!
HEY LAURIE....GOOD TO SEE YA!! Let me know about that bread. I need one with considerable fiber in it and less calories as well!
I hear ya on TURKEY DAY...It's always been my HOG WILD DAY AND ANYTHING GOES!!! I've got to watch myself ...
OH THIN...POOR RACHEL!! Glad you got to the bottom of the problem, but I sure do hope it doesn't knock her balance off during her performance!! Let us know how she does!
COLLEEN...I'm so sorry that Jo's problems are closing in. I'm here for ya Girlfirend {{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}
THIN...I didn't read far enough down. GLAD TO HEAR the RACHEL had a WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE!!! How's her ear????
MUCNH..Good going on getting MOM on PLAN...get her on here and get her talking to us...we'll get her in the mood!
MONET...You're really knitting up a storm! How's school going? I know you're enjoying it..
Well, I'm outta here until this afternoon! Keep all fingers crossed that I stay awake all day!
I'm trying to wait a while before fixing my breakfast.
This morning, (since I have time), I'm going to fix a good one...

Okay...it's been a busy weekend. And not the least bit of which was on plan. I know I've said it a hundred times, but I started this diet on my birthday last year and stuck with it all the way to Christmas. Except for that brief interlude with my Thanksgiving stuffing :o . So, here I am again. I've had quite enough Halloween candy to make me not even want any for a long, long time. Let's see if I can get down ten pounds by Christmas!!
I had a great birthday. I got tons of gifts from hubby...Star Wars III, a cool coffee cup, a candle, some cozy fleece pants, a purse, a watch, a couple sweaters and the all important new fleet of underwear  I purposely didn't buy any pants because I really want to wait till I'm in a size 10 to buy anything new there. I was thinking of getting an excercise machine to specifically exercise my mid-section. That's where I have all of the weight I want to loose. Any suggestions?
Okay...not much time for replies except to say thanks for all the birthday wishes...loved that cake, BOB!! ;) I have to go take a shower and get Kyle ready for school. Talk to you bustin buddies later on!!

Morning! I slept about as good as BOB did... I kept waking up and it was rather annoying. I am yawning to split my face, but got up because I could not sleep. I am sure it was the pizza I ate last night. I deserved to be miserable, right?
My challenge this week will be to have at least five totally on plan days. That will mean no snacks, or eating after dinner in addition to avoiding wheat and sticking to SB. Also, I will get in at least four exercise sessions, either walking or weights.
BOB: Yep, I am loving school. Its going well. This week, I set up a still life according to my plans....I can't wait to see how they do on it.
TECH: I am glad you had a good birthday. Your hubby sounds very generous! Mine is 'gift challenged' and often ends up giving me $$! Once in a while, he really has a flash of inspiration...like my ruby ring he gave me for my 50th birthday. I get lots of comments on it...it is absolutely gorgeous..and a simple design. Those flashes make up for all the times he has none!

good Monday morning all. My goal for this week is to go to Curves at least 3 times this week. I have been pretty bad about not going for the last 3 weeks.
I am having a hard time sticking to this woe. Halloween was a disaster. I ate the candy, and yes I shouldve known better, but I am weak where Choc. candy concerned. I hope to get thru Thanksgiving without a problem, then if I can only make it thru Christmas without the egg nog, candy, cakes, etc. I just need some ideas for getting thru the sugar phase.

Had a great weekend, but wish I had one more day to rest up! Rachel did fine with her performances and has just finished up her antibiotic this morning. So we'll hope any remaining fluid can continue to drain out :crossed: .
My challenge for myself is to just simply get out and exercise a couple of times! :( I have not been out on a walk or anything in I don't know how long. I'm going to shoot for two sessions of something! walking biking whatever :carrot: !

Good morning all. Ok- challenge for the week. No unplanned snacking. No picking, etc. That has always been my weakness. I know I can increase my weight loss if I stick to that. Well, the "official" MMM weigh in shows I'm down half a pound. I "unofficially" weighed in yesterday, and the MM showed I was down 1.5. And guess what- I snacked a bit too much last night, so I'm sure I'm paying for the "water weight" this morning. But I'll record the half pound as the official one. It still is a loss, and I'm very happy about that after doing Weight Watchers for a loooong time and either gaining or no losses.
Ok- will post more later- I have to give my attention to my 4 year old. No preschool on Mondays, so we have lots of cuddle time.

Checking in after breakfast: strawberry smoothie made with water, protein powder and frozen strawberries with a squirt of agave. Coffee with half and half and several pieces of homemade beef jerky- fresh out of the oven. (it is SO hard to resist!)
I have a ton of things to do, so I may leave my pokey son to fend for himself in getting to work. Not sure if I feel mean enough this morning to do that! (waking his sister for a ride can be painful...literally! She wakes up not in the best of moods..)
Later!
CAT: If you want ideas for getting over sugar, I am sure you will get a lot from everyone. (welcome back, by the way!) Having legal snacks available always helps, and sometimes chewing gum keeps you from mindlessly putting things in your mouth. (I don't do well with gum myself..I tend to swallow it! )
MUNCH: :carrot: Hey, we take any loss around here! Its movement in the right direction, so yay! :bravo:

THIN: Didn't mean to leave you out! I think the two sessions of exercise is a great start! You know you are going to feel so good getting them in! I hope Rachel is all better...I tend to get ear infections a lot and they are NO fun!

Good Morning Ladies.
We had a busy weekend and we were on the go all the time. Made it to the gym yesterday only.
My goal this week is to get to the gym 4 times and at least 5 op days.
Gator, Wow what a close ballgame. Glad you pulled out the "W".
Bob, what can I say? You can't beat heaven. They really lost it there at the end. I think Vandy will beat TN but I still think TN will beat KY. Have a good day back to work.
Heart, I know what you mean about the exercise. You let it go for just a short while and it is so hard to get back into it and your endurance drops so quickly. You can get it back. It is hard when you work. Hope you can get back here more often too.
Tech, OK girl, I'm holding you to that 10 lb loss by Chrismas. That is 6 weeks. You can do it. I think I will jump right in there with you and we will have our little challenge together. I will need to make a ticker. How about it? Anyone else what to join in?? Glad you had a great birthday.
Monet, You go girl. 5 OP days is a great goal and I know you can do it.
Catlover. Getting to Curves 3 times this week is a great goal too. I hope to get to the gym at least 3 times too. You have to detox from the sugar and stay away from it. Once you cheat with it, it is too easy to slip back. How about some SF baking?
Thank, glad Rachel is feeling better and her performance went well. Good luck on getting out there with your exercise.
Munch, congrats on the .5 lb loss.Snacking is hard. Good luck with that this week.
I found a great recipe for the holidays. I will post it later.
Got to run. Have a great OP day!

Ok, OK I know I was AWOL last week, but I was thinking about you!
It occurs to me that now is the time to starting psyching ourselves up to withstand all the holiday temptations--so here is what I propose. Let's all write and share our game plans for coping with the holidays. Let's not be overly idealistic either. Let's think long and hard about the temptations, and how we will handle the "sugar pushers" and when and under what circumstances we will eat off plan (um, because we likely will). I don't what to see anyone's plan posted today. . . why. . . because i want us to really take the time to think through our strengths and weaknesses and come up with a realistic plan that will work! So let's post our plans on Friday--How about it?
Solly--can't wait to see that recipe!
Monet--How do you make your jerky?
Muncher--Welcome! That sounds like a great plan for the week!
Thin--I'm with you on the getting out to walk! It is so easy to spend the entire day sitting in front of the computer!
Cat--good to hear from you again!
Kris--I know it's late but ahpeey birthday!!! I'm glad you enjoyed your day, but now it is time to get back OP!
BOB---My, my, my. It's been pretty sad, but I must say that you seem to be coping well.
Is Missy back with us--Bout D**m time girlfriend!!!!!! :carrot:
Have a great OP day everyone!

Speakin' of Christmas- its my favorite holiday and I apologize in advance for the fact that I HAD to use a Christmas avatar and weight tracker. My hubby laughs at me because I always have to be the first one to get my decorations up in the neighborhood. Last year my neighbor beat me by 1 day!!! Good Morning gals......
Boy, what a weekend.......you guys are not going to believe what happened. This is so cool, it all started on Friday when I went to the mail box and got our mail. There was a priority mail letter for dh. I asked him who Vicky Co........was? He said, He** if I know. Well he opened it and read it, then asked if I wanted to read it?? I asked him what it was.....he said it was from some woman claiming to be his daughter! And he was mad....... I read the letter, which included a certified copy of her birth certificate with my husband listed as the father, and I asked if it was possible and he replied not hardly. But that yes, he had known the womans mother. The woman stated that, as a child she had been told who her biological father was, and that she was free to contact him if she wished, but growing up she hadn't wanted to cause any bad feeling with her Mom and stepdad, both of which were now deceased. I asked if he knew her mother intimately, and he said yes, but I was in the service, stationed in Germany in March of 1957. I then proceeded to inform him that if she was born in March, the conception would have been in June of 1956. I said that there was a big resemblance and he said "oh Bullsh*t". Finally I went and got his service record papers........it seems that he enlisted in July of 1956, not June as he thought.
The letter said that she would be visiting her aunt in this area Nov 5 thru the 8th, and that she wanted nothing from him but some time. She lives in Colorado with her husband of 31 years, and has two sons. Ted was very uncertain about this and I told him that a phone call would cost him nothing and that I thought he owed her at least that courtesy. If indeed he was her father, it was not her fault that he was never informed about her.
He placed the call, and agreed to meet with her on Saturday. He drove up north and met with her, and it turns out that she IS his daughter. Neither have any idea why the mother never informed Ted of her birth, but Ted showed her his service papers, and explained that he had absolutely no idea that he had fathered a child.
He stayed in a motel up there Saturday night, and then drove her down here and we all went to brunch on Sunday. She is a very beautiful woman, and there is definitely a family resemblance. My heart was just busting with happiness for them both. Just imagine..........finding out at age 71, that you have a daughter that is 48 years old.
My husband has another daughter that has refused to see him for many years now.....due to some disagreement over some money that she wanted from him. She told him she wanted to buy a car......he sent her the money she asked for, then she wanted more......Ted asked her to come over here, and that he would help her get the car, but she refused saying that she just wanted the money.........and that if he didn't give it to her, she never wanted to see him again..........
We have been together for almost 16 years, and I have never met her. I asked him once to try and find her and resolve their differences before it got to be too late......he said he had no idea where to even look. Last he had heard, she had divorced her husband, giving him custody of their children and she was running wild.........
I honestly think that this may be just what Ted needs right now. He has been feeling really melancholy lately, due to the fact that he tried to return to work full time, and his back couldn't take it.......he worked 9 hours one day, and was laid up for a full week afterward. Working for his friend up north is okay, because he works at his own pace, and can rest as he needs. But the job he wanted was running a big backhoe on a freeway job in town. I guess he feels like he's no good for anything anymore. Poor guy, has had 3 surgery's in the last 5 years. He loved to work before he retired, had been a superintendent for a construction company for 32 years!!
So, Vicky has to leave tomorrow, but Ted is spending every minute that he can with her before she leaves. He went up north again this morning. And she is going to be by in the morning before heading to the airport.
Well, what do you think of my weekend?? Pretty shocking huh?? I hope that they can continue a close relationship. My family has always been very close, and I am amazed at people that don't see each other for ages, when they live in the same town as each other.
I had to take Bill into town very early this morning, was so worried about having time to get my workout in, that I forgot to weigh myself. I am anxious to see how I have done these last two weeks.......hope I am truly on my way down. Will get on first thing in the morning.........I plan in getting back here today to get in some replies.....have to get some things done now.........

Ok did a Christmas ticker for the challenge. Hope it worked.
Susan, Well, I'm still sore about the beating your guys gave us. Well deserved though. At least you were thinking about us last week. Ok I'm thinking about my plan for TG first. It is pretty easy. Christmas is the hard one. That will take much more thought.
Munch, I bet I have you beat this year on decorations. Love your tracker. I need to do mine now.
Teensy, WOW, I think you will get the prize for the most interesting weekends. That has to be a shocker. I'm glad your DH is happy about all this and it all worked out for the best.
Cindy, hang in there, maybe it's hormones or water. Try again tomorrow.
Have a nice roast and carrots and potatoes (for the rest of the fam) in the crock pot. Then headed to the gym.
Have a great evening.

Hey there folks! Okay, I'm going to post my menu and see if you can give me feedback. I've read the book but somehow putting it in practice, or actually putting myself out there in front of people who are thoroughly familiar with this WOE, is what I need to do.
B: scrambled egg cooked in butter, skim milk
L: baked sweet potato
D: rotisserie chicken, salad with lettuce, tomato, carrots, red onion and italian dressing, milk
Snacks if needed: 6 triscuits and swiss cheese, 1 T. Simply Jif PB, carrots, and natural (unsweetened) applesauce
Advice?

Evening! Dinner was Mavarik sirloin steak, baked sweet potato and roasted asparagus, plus a glass of red wine. I slathered the sweet potato in smart balance.
Someone asked for my recipe for beef jerky. It is really simple:
1 pound flank steak, cut with the grain into 1/4 inch thick slices about six inches long. Trim off all visible fat.
1 T fajita seasoning (the kind with salt, pepper and garlic in it)
Mix 1 T seasoning with 1 pound of meat...so if your piece of flank steak was 1.5 pounds, you would use 1.5 T of the seasoning. If you can't find the seasoning, you can use 1T salt, 1 t ground pepper, and 1/2 t granulated garlic. Mix well, trying to coat the meat evenly. Lay meat strips out in a single layer on a rack over a pan with sides. Spray the rack and pan for easy clean up. Put in a slow oven (175 degrees to 200 degrees) and cook for eight hours or over night. Remove from oven, drain on paper towels, then store in an airtight container, or as I do - in a zip lock bag in the fridge. Resist the temptation to nibble on it. Its VERY addicting. :)
KATPO: In looking over your menu, I would suggest you add some protein to the lunch. A baked sweet potato doesn't sound like much of a lunch, and being just starch, it will cause a rise in insulin which will then drop and you will feel hungrier than if you balanced it with some protein. More veggies, and even some fruit would be good for balance. Just remember to avoid bananas, watermelon, raisins, pineapple... low GI fruits include peaches, apples, and berries.
CINDY: What color leather are the sofas? I would love leather sofas! Enjoy them!
Ellen

Hello all,
the board looks pretty active today. Great start for the week. And welcome to Kathy and Brandi. Brandi, this is a great board. Everyone gets along very well and there is no grousing like you sometimes see on other boards. Also, everyone gives good advice if you ask for it.
Catlover--welcome back. We missed you.
I am still toying with the Christmas challenge idea. We are leaving for Charleston this Thursday and will be up there eating in the yummy Charleston low country restaurants, that are anything but dietetic. And then the weekend of Thanksgiving we are going up to Gainesville with friends for a long weekend. So, I see difficulties in reaching a loss of 10 pounds. Hmmm. Not sure what to do. Now if it were July, or February, or some other month. Hmmm.
BOB--Just be glad that your happiness doesn't have to depend on what a bunch of 19 year olds do on any particular Saturday. Can you believe that game we had against Vandy? Probably 20000 people left the stadium with 5 minutes to go in the game. They figured that being ahead by 14 points put the game in the bag. Vandy ran over us like a rug. Their QB is great. Glad he is a sr.
Fillise--Go Tigers!!!! Hope y'all get a W this coming Saturday. :)
I am not working out this week. Normally I work out Tues. and Fri. but I have to take my car in for a minor repair tomorrow and will be in Charleston on Friday.
Have a great evening everyone.

Thanks very much for that advice. I think I one lean hamburger patty in the fridge that I can add to lunch. Or would cheese work? Or nuts? I don't eat much during the day and am too tired at night. I have to just eat a little bit every 2-3 hours to stay satisfied. I'll have to think about it and tweak a little more.
OK! I just posted a REEEAAALLLYYY long post with replies to everyone and accidentally hit my back button and it disappeared! I was trying to rush- see thats what I get!!! Now I have no time again- grrrrrr. Soooo- I guess I will reply tomorrow!!! Sorry!!! G'nite

Good morning Ladies.
We got in about an hour workout at the gym last night. I did 15 minutes on the bike and then the rest upper body.
BF: 2 eggs and 2 pcs bacon
lunch: roast beef sandwich, apple
dinner: bbq, ???
I have to go to a meeting after work so it will be quick dinner.
Brandi, Bend over and consider yourself kicked. This is the place. We will kick you, support you, and just flat out love you. Whatever you need, we have it. It is a great group here. Ask any questions you have. Someone will answer. I eat ww mini bagels with peanut butter, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs with cheese. fruit. ww waffles or pancakes.
Monet, how did the hair cut turn out? Did Tom like it? How short did you go?
Thin, Now first of all, we will have no negative thoughts about not making the 10 lb goal. So just get that right out of your mind. Now don't you feel better? I bet you even feel like getting out there and exercising now don't you? You can do this, we will help you along. you will not fail.
Cindy, we can't wait to hear what the scale says today. After that workout, it should be down a bunch.
Katpo, I agree with Monet, add some fruit, and definately some protein at lunch. Watch the cheese unless it is lowfat. Hope you join our group.
Gator, I am so jealous, I have always wanted to go to Charleston. Have a wonderful time and eat something delicious for me.
Munch, sorry about losing your post. I hate that.
Got to run. Have a great OP day.

Oh no you're not leaving me out of the Christmas challange. I'm in it too.... I'm horribly discusted with myself and I'm so tired of being fat. I was so uncomfortable in my clothes yesterday I couldn't hardley stand myself. So maybe I've finally hit bottom and the only way is up. Please don't give up on me. I already ate a breakfast bar from Kashi this morning so I will start from there. Think I'll be having some leftover beans for lunch today and pork tenderloin and a salad for dinner. I've got plenty of nuts in the cupboard to snack on and some cheese sticks too. I've way over drank on coffee this morning and my stomach is screaming at me. Oh my what I've done to my body!!!!
Welcome Katpo and Brandi, so glad to see you joining our group. Its a wonderful bunch of ladies here....You'll love it...
Off to start my day!!!!

Ok, I finally figured out that I can preview my signature before I save it! DUH! I updated it again and got a Christmas Avatar! :carrot: We need a dancing turkey! :p
Solly and Monet- Thanks for the encouragement! No more negativity! :D I may have to try that beef jerky recipe. :T
Blue-Breakfast is my hardest meal too! Some of the ladies here do protein shakes or smoothies. I'm going to have to think of some new ideas. :chin: I am a school nurse and typically like to bring my breakfast to school and eat in my office after I've been up a while!
Gator-C'mon join the challenge! Maybe you could try a five pound challenge? ;)
Cindy-WTG on your exercise! :carrot: :strong: :carrot: I'm trying to get started just by getting out and doing something a couple of times a week.
I will have to find times that work for us. My kids are both in middle school and after school activities and I want them to go with me for walks, bike/scooter rides etc. There are a couple of days we could do stuff after school and maybe on the weekends!
Have a great day!

OK, I'm in on the challenge.
Thin--You and I think alike. I pondered about this this morning and also decided that a 5 pound goal would work and also would be an achievable goal.
Here's a question: How do you get the words "Christmas Cahllenge" above the ticker, or do you have to do that every time you post. Someone 'splain it to me. :)
Got up very early and had my car at the dealership by 7:15 to have a very minor problem fixed. They had to put a tiny spring in the headrest in in back seat. There is a roll bar in there and part of the readrest was a little loose because a spring had come undone. This dealership is 10 minutes from my house if the traffic is slow, 5 if there is no traffic. They provide free car washes for people who bought their cars there, so now my car can always look spiffy. :)
I am taking a friend out for lunch today, probably to the club where my DH plays golf. I probably will have a salad and maybe a taste of her crème brulée. I will work on French the rest of the day, save for chores around here--laundry, packing my suitcase, etc.
Wow...I've never been a trend setter before!! :carrot: I'm so happy to see everyone doing a Christmas challenge!!
Toni: You have to copy/paste the URL that is for forum use. I think it's the second window of garbled-looking things. You're menu certainly looks on par for the day...add lots of water to wash down the excess coffee and you'll be all set!
Thin: I love the new avatar.
Solly: You had an excellent workout! You should do that more often...I wish I could!!
Brandi: I like to have sourdough toast for breakfast. Also, I'm not much into plain oatmeal, either, so I have what I call deluxe oatmeal. I make the plain variety (it also has to be rolled oats...not the instant kind) and add a spoonful of splenda, some milk, frozen blueberries and a handful of chopped walnuts. It makes it really something different. And... :welcome2: to our little corner of the boards!!
Munch: Man, oh man...do I feel your pain. That's happened to me, too, and I sit and sulk over it for at least an hour. And...yet another rochester question. When did you say you graduated from...was it Arcadia?
Katpo: Also, :welcome: Something that I add to my lunch if I'm in a bind and need a meat thingy to add to the mix is a plain ole can of tuna. I'll have that with a bunch of grapes or cantaloupe or an apple or something. Don't forget to add gallons and gallons of water (well, you know, set your goals high  )...the more water you drink, the better!!
Gator: I agree with Thin...try the challenge, but don't beat yourself up for it if you only get half way...AND, have a wonderful culinary tour of Charleston!
Cindy: :dancer: WOW!! That was some workout!! Good for you!! Keep it up and the weight will be falling off you in clumps!!
Monet: Your dinner sounds almost extravagant! And the beef jerky...I've GOT to try that. Certainly sounds easy enough!!
Okay...yesterday shelley came home sick from school because the nurse said she was feeling dizzy. When I got her home, she seemed fine, but then she started with a croupy kind of cough. So, I gave her some Robitussin and sent her to bed. Didn't hear a peep out of her all night. So, then this morning, she said her heart was pounding like crazy and she had a headache. I told her to go back to bed and she could stay home. But she said she wanted to go to school so she doesn't get backed up with homework. So, I told her it was up to her. She took a shower and took a couple advil and had some toast and tea and said she felt better, so I had my DH take her in to school. Has anyone heard of a cold like this? Could she just be getting over the sugar rush she's been on since Halloween and now that I've cut her off, she's going through a sugar detox type thing? Yesterday I gave her scrambled eggs for breakfast, a PB&J on WW, SF jelly and NSA peanut butter with unsweetened applesauce and for dinner, I gave her regular pasta with ragu. For breakfast, she had the WW toast and tea and for lunch I gave her yogurt and some baby carrots with ranch dressing. So, I'm just wondering if I should have sent her to school or made her stay home. I guess they'll call me if she needs me to come get her.
So, yesterday I was totally on plan except for a half dozen little pasta shells the kids ate. Today I'm having my deluxe oatmeal for BF with the walnuts and blueberries. I have to paw through the fridge to see what else I'll be having the rest of the day.
Okay...have to do something productive.
Welcome again to all the newbies!! :carrot:

Good morning! It started out rather alarmingly at 4am...when a pipe broke in the wall! Thankfully, it was over the laundry room, which is right across from James' room and he was still up! He came and woke us up and Tom was able to get the water off, and figure out the problem. He was very worried it was in the area he has already replumbed and his work was shoddy, but it was in a pipe had not replace, thankfully! He put a temporary end on it, and now we do not have cold water to our sink or toilet, which means we have to use the other toilets. After the excitement of plumbing problems, neither of us slept very well. I do not feel up to the challenge of coming up with a Thanksgiving decoration project for the art classes...which was handed to me as mandatory yesterday..and I already have a guest speaker lined up for next week, so I have one week to get something done. grrr.
Breakfast was 1/4 pound of imitation crab meat, a couple pieces of beef jerky, an orange and coffee with half and half.
BRANDI: I often have smoothies for breakfast. They are quick and easy. I use Designer Whey protein by Next Nutritions, and mix it with water and frozen strawberries. I use either the natural with no flavoring, or the chocolate. Its filling, low fat, and high protein. I am big on high protein breakfasts, as it sets the pace for the liver for the day, and helps keep the metabolism in tip top shape. Protein also sticks with you longer than starches.
Ok, my friends, I have TONS to do today. I am so far behind, I don't think I will ever catch up!
I notice there are some MIAs... Talitha, Country..and Pancho has not checked in for a few weeks....I know there are more, but I am not totally awake... Just know if you are lurking and an MIA, we miss you!

Alright, I am gonna try and post replies again! Wish me luck!!
First of all TEENSY: WOW! I had to take a deep breath while reading about your hubby and new found daughter. That is wonderful and a shocker at the same time, isn't it? I have abit of experience with that kind of news..... a little over a year ago I got a certified letter that was from a woman claiming to be my birthmom. Now- I didn't even finish reading it b/c I KNEW I wasn't adopted and my girls evenlookedlikemy mom. WELLLLLL... very long story short.... my hubby looked into to it further b/c he wnted to protect me if it was some kind of scam, and ended up finding out it was true. I called my mom and she finally admitted it. It was devastating and weird and good all at one time, but my mom had done what she was counseled to do- just raise me as her own and never tell me. Anyhow- I ended up meeting my birthfamily and we have a great relationship (I am going to FL to visit with my bro & sis in Jan- I was raised an only child!!) and my "adoptive" mom and I have no secrets between us now- we also have a better relationship. Sorry to cram so much info in one small paragraph. I actually could write a book on all this- my story almost went to a talk show as there's a lot more details, but maybe later!!! But thanks for sharing your story- hope their relationship continues!!!
MONET- OK- What is Mavarik Steak? Sounds yummy- but have never heard of it!!!
CATLOVER- That sweet tooth is a hard thing to get rid of- I'm still trying to say byebye to mine. My attitude now is that I cannot have even one piece of anything like that. If I do, it will only trigger me to eat more and then all my hard work has been eliminated. Just not worth it.
BOB- Thanks for the comment about my mom. I am happy about it. I wish I could get her on here- I have been pestering her about getting a 'puter for years.
GATOR- (whining) come on... join us for Christmas- how bout 5 pounds??
KATPO- I just started a couple weeks ago so I'll try to help....Menu sounds good except maybe add a half ww bagel to breakfast...
and some protein for lunch or maybe a sandwich and 1/2 the sweet potato.
Welcome!!!
BLUE- Welcome!!! Hormones are lousy- they sure can wreak havoc with our systems- Sorry about all the disappointment you had with pregnancies. I have some close friends going thru the same. One good story with one is that after 5 years of trying and drugs etc, and five years of just giving up and forgetting about it- one girl I knew concieved. Amazing. But I know its hard.
SOLLY- OK- don't tell me you have your decorations up already????!!!! (Boohoooo)
CINDY- how did your weigh in go this morning? I hate when the scale jumps up like that- nasty old thing! I have been known to gain 5 pounds when I have my TOM. Yuck.
OK- really funny- my hubby who is about 15 pounds over what he should be and doesn't exercise, and has really never had too much of a weight problem has been eating like this with me- except he definitely eats more- (example- the guy had a "PILE" of cheese and triscuits the other night. Well.... he got on the scale yesterday "cause he was curious" and the numscull lost 7 POUNDS!!!! I work out like a dog teaching aerobics all week and he doesn't even move and he drops weight like crazy. He has always had a really fast metabolism- the drawback being he has an intimate relationship with the Tidy Bowl Man. But isn't that amazing? (I am happy for him- I want him healthy too!!!)
OK- I am gonna go b4 I accidentally delete this post too.... I'll check back later.

Quick question for everyone.... can you give me the lowdown on sugar free icecreams/ low carb ice creams? I was reading some labels in the store- some are no sugar added, sweetened with Splenda, but have a sugar alcohol content. Another (Perry's Carb Delite or something like that) says 3g of sugar on the nutrition info, but 12g of sugar alcohol. It also says in contains maltodextrin (an ingredient in splenda) and malitol (?). I have no idea if this is something I can have in moderation, or I should stay away from altogether. What is the sugar alcohol? Hmmm.... Any answers/suggestions would be greatly appreciated- I would like to be able to have some ice cream once in awhile and those Perry's flavors look good (peanut butter swirl.... yummy), but don't know what kind is best or if it will just trigger sweet cravings!!!
Thanx in Advance-- MUNCH
techwife
11-08-2005, 01:44 PM
Munch: I'm not 100% positive what sugar alcohol is, exactly, but for me it means gas!! :o Especially if I get some of the Russel Stover (and the like) sugar free candy, it makes me sooo gassy!! As for the ice cream, I have it on occasion...stick to the serving size, which is something like half a cup. As if!! My idea of a serving of ice cream is half a container!! :lol3: BUT, I also have some fancy 1/2 cup dessert dishes that I pack some NSA ice cream into and I take tiny bites of it and make it last as long as possible. Funny, if I eat my food slowly, I feel more satisfied when I'm done. On a side note, I'd probably wait till you have a significant loss (you know...like the one your husband had!! :) ) and then add things like the ice cream and make sure it isn't impairing your weight loss.
Gator: If you put in and only in CAPS (I couldn't show you unless I did it in lowercase or it would center my 'and') at the beginning and end of the text of your signature, it will center your heading and your ticker. As for color, you have to do the same thing. You're my fellow Mac user, right? It's not as easy to do on a mac because everything always ends up at the end of the entry, if ou know what I mean. So, you have to manually type in the commands where you want them...or SPLAT+X and then SPLAT+C it in place. If you know what I mean. It's a little more complicated than it is with a PC. :^:
Oh...for cryin out loud...it DID center my AND!! :lol3: What I was trying to type is the word CENTER with [] around it and then to close the command, type /CENTER with the brakets around it.

Okay...I'm trying not to snack on JUNK, but I'm having the sweet cravings from ****. I would take another walk, but its very windy and starting to snow. I had sugar free jello and some nuts as a snack, but it's going to take a while to get back into the artificial sweetners. I would love a latte from starbucks...but the sugar free flavor taste like KA KA. YUCK. Well...I have to head to work in a bit....

I'm using my stuff faithfully. I still have wrinkles, but at least I know they are healthy wrinkles! Where did you find the information about the lead in the lipstick we talked about?
Brandi--Eat some protein to help keep away the sugar cravings. It will go away within the week, but the immediate craving is very hard, I know. Again, have some protein with a bit of carb, such as a piece of cheese with a WW cracker. You can DO this.
Tech's vote is for the plain snowman. How 'bout the rest of you--snowman or holly, or holly WITH snowman?

I just got in from school. The class was just a bit shy of bedlam. They made paper bag cornucopias, which turned out cute, but were a pain. They made a huge mess, and we used pom poms to make fruits..but the glue we had did not work well at all. The headmaster came by and thought the project was cute...and when I asked her if I got more pom poms, if it could come from some other budget than mine, she told me it would have to be from mine...grrr. So, we will NOT have more pom poms, and I don't care! I don't know how they expect me to teach ART with the budget I have...but its the same as the Spanish class budget...and the text books are already purchased for it! Enough whining... I am NOT a happy camper this afternoon, so I will not continue to grouse. I think I am tired from the plumbing disaster in the middle of the night...so perhaps I will take a nap.
SOLLY: The haircut turned out nice, and Tom seems to like it. Thanks for asking! :)
MUNCH: Sugar alcohols are ok, BUT....many people can not properly digest them, and they cause severe intestinal distress. I started out being only slightly sensitive to them...a bit of gas, but that was it. As I ingested more of them in SF candies, ice cream etc., the response got worse and worse. Now, one piece of SF candy will cause explosive results- and rather quickly. I only use it as a laxative! :lol3: So, you are better off choosing a regular ice cream, vanilla flavor preferred, and watching your servings carefully.
GATOR: Personally, I like the holly better....but the snowman is awfully nice too! Which one do YOU like?
BRANDI: I am sorry you are having such an awful sweet craving....fight it though. It would be better to OD on triscuits and cheese than give in to it. You can always deal with portions later, once you get past the sugar cravings. There is not much you can take...I hear Gymnema Sylvestra helps sugar cravings, but I never noticed anything helpful when I was taking it. Try a piece of fruit, or protein...just DO NOT give in to it, or you will be back to square one! :(
Off I go!

Just some quick replies. got to run.
Toni, I am so glad you are joining in the challenge. Sometimes it takes hitting the bottom to wake us up. So come on and join in. I'm not promising smooth sailing, but with all of us steering the ship, it will be a lot easier for sure.
Thin, good idea for Gator (or anyone else) to do a 5 lb challenge.
Gator, Yeah! Glad you are joining us. :carrot: Grat deal on the car wash. I love to get mine washed. Usually do that after church. Holly and candy canes.
Tech, you are a trend setter. You go girl. I'm sure the school will call if Shelly gets sick. I don't blame her not wanting to get behind on her homework. Good for her.
Monet, Oh my, another pipe. Poor Tom. Hope he gets if fixed soon. Have some port, all will be better then.
Munch, Wow, this board in really getting interesting. How exciting for you. And now you have siblings too. Yes I do have some decorations up already. It's a long story. Congrats to Dh on his loss. Don't ya just hate that they lose so quickly.
This was a fun board today. Maybe I am flying high or something....

Hi Everyone:
I hope you are all doing well. I have managed to maintain (around 120-121#) for the past 3-4 weeks, so all is good here.
I am still crazy busy, and don't see much of a break before Christmas break, at which time I will definately check in and catch up.
I wanted to drop in and let you know of a great snack find I found. They are called LARABARS. They are delicious. The package says....uncooked, unprocessed, no added sugar, non-gmo, gluten-free, dairy free, soy free, vegan, kosher. They have many flavors, but only have anywhere from 2-8 ingredients. For example, one of my favorites (and the kids love them too) is the cashew cookie (ingredients are...cashews & dates). Another one is Apple Pie (ingredients are....dates, walnuts, unsweetened apples, almonds, raisins, cinnamon). Another one is Ginger Snap (ingredients are....dates, almonds, pecans, ginger, cinnamon & clove). They have a chocolate one, a chocolate coconut one, a cherry pie one, etc....they are so good, and healthy for you and your family. You can check out their website at www.larabar.com. They are a little pricey online; I pay around $1.29-1.49 per bar at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Sprouts & Henry's. You should give them a try.
Have a great Thanksgiving with your families! We will be spending ours with Mickey this year; Lane and Britt are so excited to be going to Disneyland.
Take care,
Nat

Hi !! Well 1.5 of those 4 lbs I went up came off today.
Not much exciting happened with my day today. Just work , home, dinner , exercise, computer and bed! LOL. Like I said not very exciting.
Monet- The couches ..well they look dark brown to me but they are called sauvage burgundy. Hey what kind of hair cut did you get? Wow , sorry to hear about your pipe. Thank goodness someone was awake to catch it.
Brandi- I have smoothies 2-3 times a week for breakfast. I make mine with one cup lf plain yogurt, 1/4 cup ff milk, sometimes I add a scoop of whey protein powder, splash of sf vanilla davinchis(optional)
1/4 cup ice cubes, 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened blueberries ( or any frozen/fresh fruit would do) blend in blender. Wala... great breakfast.
Solly- see above..a bit came off today.
Thin- That is great you want to include the kids in your exercise! Im glad I can devote time now to it being my are all grown and dh is gone for work by 5pm so the evenings are mine and I try and devote and hour or more to exercise ( I guess I have to make up for all those years I didnt)
Munch- wow that was a story ... Im glad you got to meet your birth mom. That would be so strange getting a letter like that and not even knowing.
About your DH..I hate that. Mines the same way. He doesnt exercise at all and can drop weight like its easy.
On the SF icecream.. stay far far away at least from edys brand. I bought some Sat for DH and Sunday night after he left for work he called and said he was having horrible stomach pains and bad bad gas... Last night too..and it was the icecream !! I ran to the fridge and looked at the ingrediants and sure enough there were the sugar alcohols. I guess cause it said splenda on the front I just "assumed" that was all that was in there. Im glad I didnt touch any of it. He eats the LC icecream all the time and doesnt have the "problem".
Gator- I like the snowmen
Nat- Question on those bars..what is the astrick next to the sugar amount for ? They look delish ( speicllay the pecan pie) but too much sugar count for me.
Well Its taken me an hour to post...between phone calls and dog calls. So Im bushed now LOL.
Hope everyone has a great evening.

Hey ladies,
I'm so sorry I've been gone. I've been working, my sister was in town from Illinois and is now on her way to Peru until February.
ANyway, I have no good excuse otherthan that I'm amazingly busy.
THe good news is, I got the SB book again last night and started reading it to get myself back under control. I'm so sick of being fat. I realized the other day that I have now been overweight for almost half of my life. I can't be like this anymore
I have to go clean and get the kids in bed. They I will ge ton and catch up with posts.

I went to the store today and stocked up! :carrot: We were out of EVERYTHING! One of those weeks where the bill was a little more than usual! But they had chicken on sale and 93% lean ground beef. I got some laughing cow cheese and crackers for snacks, sf yogurt, fruit, string cheese etc for kids lunches. I also bought some "party" size pumpernickle bread and rye bread. I thought the kids might be willing to try something new if it were "fun". We'll see! We compromise and they eat lunch at school a couple of days a week and carry it a couple of days. Their menu is online, so we download and make our decisions. :chin: I found a recipe for hummus that I want to try in my good carb cookbook. Unfortunately I was reviewing it at work and left the book in my office! :dizzy: I think I will call it a "dip" and not tell the kids it is made with beans until I see if they like it! :sssh:
Maybe I'll remember the book and make it tomorrow! Hope everyone has a great evening!

Ok, I'm in for the chaellenge. I've felt sick to my stomach all day long. And you're not gonna believe this. I'm 2 days late. I haven't told anyone, and I don't evne want to think about it. I just want to go throw up. I've been su busy and stressed the last month, that I'm sure that I'm just late. There really shouldn't be a problem.
Anyway, I feel like puking, and I'm stressed. Trav is working late, AGAIN. I'm jsut too overwhelmed to review all of the posts for the week. I'm jsut going to go get my SB book, and read some to get motivated for tomorrow.
This Friday is shopping day at the Dekalb Farmer's Market. I'm not buying ANYTHING that isn't legal. MOMET, want to join us?

Hey all-- Just a fly by......very emotional day, dh new found daughter had to leave today. It was sad to see her go, we both cried. Dh followed her out to the airport as she had rented a car. I was asked to go with, but figured they should have a few minutes to themselves. She is such a great gal. I think I am going to enjoy this very much. They put the invitation out for us to go to Co. and spend Christmas with them, but I don't know. I love the holiday season, but dh is a bear!! We end up having big arguments every year over really stupid stuff. I don't know if I want to be away from my family that time of year. Maybe we could make plans to go after Christmas.....who knows.
I am heading straight to bed, another really early day tomorrow. Hope to get some time for replies........and reading the posts. Forgot to weigh again, maybe I will wait now until next MMM. See you in the morning.

Good morning! I am just waiting for my neighbor to pick me up to go to school. Then, James will take my car and I don't have to fight traffic to get him to work, and me to school on time. After school, my neighbor drops me off at my car at his office. Works out nice! :)
I am not exactly sure what we will do today...but it has to be decorations for the Thanksgiving feast. I would much rather continue my curriculum, but unfortunately, art just isn't viewed as important enough to not mess with it whenever the administration feels like it.
I feel yucky this morning...I slept funny on my shoulder and can barely move it. I hope the ibuprofen I took starts to work soon...
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies.
Boy am I :tired: today. Plus I am starving. Just finish a bagel and PB but it hasn't kicked in yet. Coffee isn't doing the trick either.
Well I was bad last night. I was attacked by a bag of Lays potato chips. They chased me all over the house. They wouldn't leave me alone for anything. I would sit down and they would jump in my lap. I would stand up and they would follow me around the room. What was I to do. And we all now you can't eat just one. The only good thing is the scale didn't reflect any change this morning. I didn't have much dinner, only 1 bbq sandwich on a ww bun plus the chips.
Nat, Hi, good to hear from you. Hope all is well with the girls. Glad you are maintaining. Have a wonderful time at DW. Like you couldn't not have a good time there. I know the girls will love it. I'll check out those bars the next time I'm at WF.
Thin, glad to see some of those mystery pounds are disappearing.
Talitha, glad you are back. We missed you.
Thin, check out that party size rye and pumpernickel bread, I don't think they are legal. I think they are enriched.
Toni, :carrot: Yeah, one day under your belt. You beat the beast.
Teensy, maybe this new-found DD will change your DH's attitude about the holidays. It would be tough leaving your family too.
Monet, have a good day at school. Hope your shoulder is better soon.
Need to get busy. Have a great day.

Good morning. I did great yesterday with exercise...walked 2 miles....up hill! and my eating....EXCEPT..i had a taste of icing when the kids were decorating some brownies they made for one of their classes. I KNOW I KNOW. BUT I did lose a pound when I got on the scale!!!
Our gym has new owners that I don't like and now I hate going to the gym...but I have been getting up and walking at home....but it snowed last night and its 17 degrees outside. I'm thinking....I'll wait until we get out of town tonight and use a treadmill.

Still here but soooo busy the past few weeks. I warned y'all I would be scarce. With only a few cheats I've remained OP. Still seem to have very little progress!! I went for a long walk on Halloween and that really seemed to irritate my incision/hematoma for several days. I walked again yesterday with a friend and she pushed the Tad for 1/2 the walk so we will see how I'm feeling today and tomorrow. Last night was a little tender.
Off to the grocery this morning to get items for my ladies' group. I'm the co-hostess tomorrow night. My in-laws are coming for a day trip tomorrow and I need to get lunch prepared for them as well. I hope to continue my basement cleaning out while they are here.
I just wanted to let you know I'm still here!!
GATOR - If you haven't already left for Charleston or gone and come back... I suggest COAST restaurant! The best meal I've ever had was there about 20 months ago. It's in the downtown area near the OLD CITADEL which is now a hotel. Not too far from Jackson Park and all that fun shopping. Our concierge turned us on to Coast and we loved it! You can go casually dressed and the atmosphere is fun. It's easier to get into than Hyman's but do make a reservation if you decide to go. Bill went to the Citadel and we got married in the Gazebo on the battery. We LOVE "Chucktown!" Have fun!
Have a great day everyone! Love the holiday tickers!

Can you believe it is Wednesday and we are already well into page 5! :carrot: It's nice to see so many people on the board! I started a roast in the crock pot this morning so dinner is already taken care of. I have to take the kittens to the vet this afternoon for their shots and hopefully pick up Sean's sax from the repair shop. He needed a couple of pads replaced. It will be nice to come home to a hot meal!
Talitha- Good luck and don't worry! Maybe you are just late! :crossed:
Frog-Hope you are not too sore today, I need to clean out my basement too and somehow I always find something else to do!
Monet-Hope you're shoulder is better and things go well at school today!
Toni-Keep up the good work!
Teensy-It's so neat that your hubby was able to spend some time with his new found daughter. Maybe you will all get to spend some time together during the holidays! ;)
Solly- I got the bread for my kids. I'm trying to get them to try another bread besides white  I thought if it were "fun" they might be willing to try!
Brandi-You keep yourself warm up there! :carrot:

Just a quick good morning post after dropping my kids off at school and while drinking my coffee. Long night last night- but lots of exercise in. My Tuesdays are always like that- I assist with one of the kids tap classes, teach my dance aerobics class, then take my own tap class and a ballet/jazz combo. I am usually totally wiped out on Wed's afterward, but today I feel pretty good. Sore, but pretty good- could it be I'm now eating properly?????????
My hubby made this wonderful dish last night for me- kind of a chicken lo mein type thing with ww spaghetti and everything else legal! He even put in a bit of Splenda to sweeten the sauce a bit. Gotta love him. But he better not lose more weight than me or I'll have to hurt him this week. :rollpin:
Well- got to go do some laundry or something- I wish I could stay on here and write more but duty calls. I'll do replies later on- I have off tonite :carrot:

Hello everyone...I am new to this group and am looking forward to the discussions. I had given up sugar but it keeps coming back... I realize that I begin to gain weight when I start adding sugar back to my life and I get really out of control. It truly is toxic for me. It has been a while since I read the Sugar Buster's book. However, how does milk sugar measure up...do we count it or not... I am suffering from menopause and use the NS Silk, but occasionally drink the chocolate when I am craving something in the evening... I tried to check out the PRETTYIMPRESSIVE STUFF web site that I used to go to but it doesn't seem to be active...

Good Morning:
I am waiting for the window covering guy to come by (any minute now) to fix one of my blinds. Then, Lane and I will be going to a tour at Red Robin Restaurant. They are giving the kids free kid's meals and they get to meet Red The Robin. She is excited. It s/b fun.
After that we have to go to Wal-Mart to pick up some things as well as Linens & Things. I am going to buy my DH a foam pillow for our Anniversary (#12) this Sunday. It is then our day to pick up the kids from school.
Just wanted to jump on and say hello.
Cindy: The * on the bars say, "there is no added sugar; this amount is from the naturally occuring fruit sugars." I just count it as another fruit serving. They are so much better than all the bars out there with so much junk added. I love that my kids love them. I feel like I am sending such healthy snacks for them. I hope you drop those few other stubborn pounds.
Solly: The kids are fine; thanks for asking. We are starting a new battle with Britt's health. She ended up in the ER a few weeks ago, and has developed pretty severe asthma. We are trying the alternative medicine route first, trying to keep her away from the steroids, but may have to go that route anyway...we will see. She has joined Brownies, and is having a ball. I hope you and your family are doing well!!
Thin: Your Avatar gets me wanting to go to the snow.
Hi to everyone else...the window covering man just pulled up so I gotta run!
Take care,
Nat

Woo hoo look at all the posts. Good morning everyone. Just finished 2 scrambled eggs, slice of ww toast and coffee. Hopefully day 2 back on SB is going to be good for me too. I'm so excited right now about finally getting ahold of my life and being in control. I'd really hit rock bottom Sunday night. Skeeweeaka I'm like you about sugar. I just can't have it. Its one of my biggest problems. I'm having vegetable stir fry with shrimp for lunch and for dinner tonight its pork tenderloin with green beans and a small salad.
Teensybean- what a wonderful beginning with your DH daughter. Does she live far from you? It would be a hard decission whether to go or not...
Monet- Hope you have a wonderful day in school.
Solly- Sounds like the carbs got ya yesterday. I have trouble with the darn prinkles chips my DH has with his lunch everyday. I never even liked them but a couple weeks ago I started getting into them now they want me!
Brandi- Good job on the walking. And wow uphill! Stay out of the brownie icing!!! Danger danger.....
Frog- wow you're busy busy.... Good for you staying OP with all you have to do.
Thin- Yum roast sounds so good. And when its in the crockpot it makes the house smell yummy too. I'm marinadeing a pork tenderloin to put on the rotissare tonight.
Munch- What a good DH. Wish mine would cook for me. Your classes sound wonderful and what a good way to get your exercise in.
Skeeweeaka- Welcome, welcome to the board. Just in time to join our 10 lb. challage for Christmas. It is just starting. Hope you love this board as much as I do. They're really great here. I drink skim milk only. But someone will answer your question.
Pancho- Hope you got your blinds fixed. Have a great day....
Time to go do the laundry. Yuck! Happy Day all...

I jsut got back form Kroger. We are so low on groceries, that I decided to go ahead and get a few things so that I wouldn't be tempted to cheat before my big shopping on Friday. so here is my menu for today:
B- Go figure protein shake w/ skim milk
L- Rotisserie chicken wrap w/ filed greens, avacado, tomato and alfalfa sprouts. 5 Sweet potato chips
D- poached Salmon with Field green Salad, Steamed fresh green beans. Big splurge for me :)
I bought some triscuits and laughing cow for snacks. This was the first shopping trip in a long time that I haven't been tempted to buy some 'treats' I was really excited about sticking to the plan.
I am going to have my 1 starchy carb at lunch, or not have any. I'm feeling really good about it. Now if TOM would jsut come, I could stop being so stressed about that!!!!!
Monet- 10 it is. Can't wait. I'm really excited about sticking to the plan. Can I borrow your Leptin book, jsut for a week?
THIS- I hope you're right. I hate the idea of being negative if I am pregnant :sorry: . We absolutely want more. It's just that my new motivation is all about getting healthy and strong to see if I have have a VBAC after 2 C-sections. It's a long shot as it is, I jsut want to get healthy to have a better chance. I need more time. I don't think I can handle it right now with my business taking off so well. I want to be secure first.
Toni- I'm right there with you. WE can do it!!!! Sounds like you have had a good start today.
Teensy- what a great story!!!! I can't wait to hear more about her and her family. I'm so happy for you guys!!
Solly- Those Potato Chips are so persistent!!! Thanks for missing me :)
Brandi- Good for you on the exercise. Keep going!
Frog- Busy, busy... I'm so there with ya...
MUNCH- I am soooooo jealous of your dance classes!!!! I love to dance!!
skeewee- Welcome to the board!!!!!!! You're gonna love it here!!
Pancho- I have sever allergies, too. What do they have her taking? My naturopath has me on some good stuff. We should compare.

Hi everyone!
It is windy, windy, windy here today!! And rainy. It's days like these I really wish I had a fireplace to cozy-up the joint.
Just got back from preschool. I don't know what to think of preschool. I get really frustrated because the teacher has a really short temper sometimes with the kids. One little girl is plain terrible...but it makes me so sad for her because at 3 years old, it's not her fault that she's totally undisciplined. I mean, you have to be firm, like when I took the kids to the bathroom to wash up for snacks and the little girl was hitting and pushing the kid at the front of the line (we have a rotation of who gets to be the front of the line and it was this little boy's day today) so she could be in front. Every day the little girl will be told to do something with the group, like the pledge or to sit up and listen to a story, but she just shuts down and sits in a slump, ignoring what she's supposed to be doing. So one little girl says, "What's wrong with her?" and the teacher says, "I don't know what's wrong with her..." Like in a demeaning way. So the little girl started crying and I thought it was just mean. Then the mother comes in and the girl had been crying because the teacher told her to stop putting her finger up her nose and the mother says, "Oh, I know...she's not feeling well...she had a fever last night and she has a doctor's appointment after school." So, I get so mad that she even brought the girl in because you just don't bring in a fevered kid to school and get everyone else sick!! One of my biggest pet peeves!! One of the other mom's said something to her and I could tell the mother was offended, but I was glad the other mom had the nerve to say something. And I still feel sorry for hte little girl, even though she is a real pill to have in class. I just think compassion is needed and not a feeling of "what are you doing? you're so stupid!" The teacher doesn't say that, but you can hear it in ehr her voice when she says, "No! THat's not what I said to do. When are you going to listen?" She's only three! I just get so mad and I just feel sorry for these poor misguided kids.
Anyway...
Time for Kyle and I to watch Willie Wonka. It's a great day for a movie and a cozy blanket!! Maybe some hot cocoa for Kyle and hot tea for mommy!! :D
Replies later....

Blue- I'm no expert, but I would say that's fine. Watch your ingredients to make sure you're not adding any hidden sugars. If you top it with cheese and sour cream as I LOVE to do  , you may want to watch the fat on that too! Enjoy! :T

Hi Ladies.
Just a quick peek to see what is going on today. 6 apges already Wow
Here is the recipe I promised for a quick and legal appetizer for holiday parties:
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese
1/4 cup TACO BELL HOME ORIGINALS Thick 'N Chunky Medium Salsa
1/4 cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 Tbsp. sliced pitted black olives
1 Tbsp. chopped cilantro
PLACE unwrapped block of cream cheese on microwaveable plate; top with salsa, shredded cheese and olives.
MICROWAVE on HIGH 45 sec. to 1 min. or until cheddar cheese is melted; sprinkle with cilantro.
Serve with triscuits or the new ww wheat thins.
Brandi, a taste of icing is better than the whole brownie. I hate the "S" word pluse 17 degrees. Brrrrrr. Chili is ok. We put ww spaghetti in ours.
Frog, Glad you are still with us. Check in when you have the time.
Thin, Sorry, I missed that about the bread being for the kids. Have you tried using cookie cutters and cutting shapes with them? I made a roast in the crockpot this week too. It was delish. The first one of the winter. Yum Yum! It is nice to come home to dinner already made.
Munch, what a sweet DH to fix your dinner. Sounds like you get a great workout on Tuesdays.
Skeeweeaka, welcome to our board. Sugar can be dangerous, plus it just leads to worse things like carbs and fatty foods. Not at all good for you. I drink skim milk so I really can't answer your question. Most sugar in milk is from lactose and does not count as sugar.
Nat, sure hope Britt's asthma can be controlled. That is something that follows them through life and can really hamper their activities. She will love Brownies.
Toni, Day 2 is looking good and you are in control. :carrot:
Talitha, " A watched pot never boils" Try not to stress about your period. That will make it even later. Relax.
Tech, it is really windy here too. It is supposed to get cold too. Maybe a fire is a good idea. I think the teacher needs to learn how to handle the little ones or move up.
Have a great evening.

Good afternoon all. My day is going great and my eating is good. Having some hot tea right now and then its back to my endless cup of water.
Solly- Thanks for the recipe. Just in time for the holidays. I hope I can find those ww wheat thins here.
Talitha- That chicken wrap you had for lunch sounds wonderful. Did you make it yourself?
Brandi- Hope your chili turns out really good....
Techwife- Poor little girl. Hope she didn't spread some awful germs. Why would you send your child to school that way.
Thin- Just a howdy.....

Brandi--Just get some very good quality hamburger meat. I use the Maverick brand tht I can get at Publix, a good grocery chain in our area. The meat is non-hormones, no steroids, no antibiotics, and lower in fat that the rest of the stuff at the store. I use just one T. oil to brown the meat, onions and green peppers. I add just canned tomatoes and canned kidney beans and enough chili powder to taste. Low fat, lots of fiber and not too high on carbs. If you want to lower the carbs, just omit the beans, but I think that extra fiber is good for you. If you season it right, you won't need to add calories with cheese or sour cream. Have a good salad instead.
Talitha--Did you see my lipstick question on one of the earlier pages for this week, maybe page 3?
Monet--I know how they can take advantage of the art teacher. It's like you're the local hire to do the decorating. Forget about teaching and just get the Christmas decorations done for the school is what we hear so often. Sad. Hope things ease up a little for you.
Well, I only got 4 votes. They were even, so I picked the holly because I like the color.
Frog--We leave tomorrow afternoon for Chucktown. Thanks for the information.
I just got in from school a little while ago. Life is not good here right now. My daughter called in tears and left a message that they are being harrassed by the animal control in their county about their cats...they have six that go in and out...and two of her brother's live there. The law says they are ok, but they were told they had to keep them inside, which if you know cats, just doesn't work. So, now BOTH of them are mad, and irritated, and I honestly don't know what the solution is. I just don't even want to think about it right now.
School was frustrating. They called me on Monday and told me they wanted the art classes to do decorations for the Thanksgiving feast...but failed to tell me they were REHEARSING for the Veteran's Day show they are doing on Friday, today. So I did not even have my last class. I could have left but no one told me, so I did not have my car today, I rode with my neighbor. I hope they don't pull the ultimate insult and try not to pay me for that hour!
I skimmed all the posts, and was excited to see how chatty you all have been so far this week! I need to read more carefully before I do replies, so I hope to do that later this evening. I need to figure out dinner right now!
I will be back in a bit!

Hi All. Just a quick post. Not much to report on. I ate real well today ,just finished a orange and now the kitchen is closed and thats final! :dizzy:
I got home about 30 min ago from the gym got in a great step class workout. Those are the best. Really make you sweat. My dds trying to talk me into another one tomorrow night ( we did it last Thursday) but its step and weights. If I do that will be three step classes this week. Im trying to keep ahead of myself because next week is the D&C on wednesday so I know Ill have at least one day maybe two of no exercise.
We had a horrible storm come through last night and today has been So windy! I hope it passes soon. The wind really makes it feel cold outside
Well , thats about it from me today. Going to relax before bed.
Night all ! :)

Ok, so I lied. I never made it back last night. I just about fell asleep at the keyboard when I was checking email after dinner, so I just went to bed! It had been a terribly stressful day, and I thought for sure I would sleep like a log. I did, until about 3:30, then I was wide awake. I finally fell back asleep after five, just to wake up when Tom's alarm went off at 6, and again when he kissed me good bye at 7! I finally got up for good at 8 and had breakfast- strawberry smoothie made with natural whey protein (no flavors or sweetners), a squirt of agave and water. This is a great breakfast...gives me about 30 grams of high quality protein and always seems to go down easy! :) I had one cup of leftover coffee, and am thinking of another one.
I really really need to knit a lot today, even though I kind of don't feel like it. :( I have a baby shower for a friend who is adopting this Saturday morning, and I need to get the blanket done. Then, I have two other afghans, and four scarves to finish. I am SOOO behind!
I should go walk this morning..and I may still, but I am congested, and just feel achy all over. I am too good at rationalizing, and I know I tend to err on the side of being too careful not to stress myself! :) Well, in the area of exercise anyway.
I will be back later...off to knit until I have to take my son to work!

Good morning everyone. I am feeling LOUSY this morning. My stomach is really off. I felt really nauseaus earlier, but ate some oatmeal and felt a bit better. But now I just feel yuck again. There are so many bugs going around- I HOPE I do not get the nasty stomach bug. That is the worst thing in the whole world. I havr to teach my class tonite and then I am supposed to go out with a couple friends after. I may just skip going out and pray I can get thru my class. Thats the lousy thing about teaching aerobics in a smaller studio- if I'm sick its either cancel the class (means calling 30 some people) or having my boss fill in for me. Either way is not easy. And my boss is doing a badge thing for a group of girl scouts tonite during my class, so that is out. I am hoping I just start feeling better. OK- Sorry to whine here, I just guess I needed to!!! Hopefully I'll feel better and can chek in later to post something more interesting!!!

Good morning all. My lady didn't come today again to help clean so I'm off in a minute to start on the bathroom. Should have done that yesterday but it was to late in the afternoon when I found out she wasn't coming. Just had my breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs, ww toast and coffee. Lunch will be leftover yummy pork tenderloin and green beans. Tonight is chicken, salad, and ww mac and cheese. Tomorrow is grocery shopping day. Need some more vegetables. And some fruit.
Gator- Have a good trip to Chucktown.....
Monet- I'm so sorry you had an awful stressful day. It just colors everything when things go badly like that. Then I try and find comfort in food. Thank goodness you didn't. Hope you get far on the knitting!
Cindy- Sounds like you really had a nice workout. Congrads on you're eating!
Well like it or not time to clean..... Have a good day....

Solly- I went to bed last night trying to relax. Your comment made me reailez that I should just relax..... but when I woke up this morning feeling sick, I decided to go aheand and go get a test. So in short........ THIS POT WON'T BE BOILING TILL JUNE OR JULY....
Monet- Can't wait to see you tomorrow. I need a hug.
Gator- I'm so glad you brought that up. I was trying to go back to everyone I told that to that week. I had jsut heard it when you came over. I went and researched it myself and learned a valuable lesson. WHile I could verify many toxic and somewhat dangerous ingredients, the Lead report was a rumor started in 2004. I'm so sorry. From now on, I have been verifying my information myself before going on somehting word of mouth.
Toni- The wrap was amazing. I made it myself. It was very easy to jsut throw it all in a WW Tortilla. you should try it.
Munch- Hope you feel better. Isn't there someone who can make the calls for you?
I may not be on so much the next couple of days. I' trying to work through the shole shock thing. I jsut really didn't expect this right now.

Just got in from grocery shopping and putting everything away...which sometimes takes longer than the shopping. I take this time every two weeks to clean out the fridge and clean off shelves and toss out things that are about to toss themselves into the trash. I went to Walmart and got some cool new boa yarn and some matching normal yarn and am goign to make a couple scarves. Its that time of year!!
Just a few short replies:
TALITHA!!! :cheer: I'm so happy for you...and I know you'll be happy about the new bun in the oven, too, very shortly!! I know all about suprise babies. My DD hit me like a frying pan in the back of the head!! I was 27...single...about to '86' the unsuspecting father...and had just started on my second semester of college. Talk about a knot in the yarn!! So, if you want sympathy for being blindsided by a baby, you got it from me!! Just know that it's all part of God's plan and its all 'meant to be' and God will give you the strength to handle every last part of it. :grouphug:
And...COLLEEN: I don't think I properly congratulated you on your new daughter-in-law. How exciting!! My sister-in-law had a situation once in the doctor's office. A woman noticed her last name on her checks and asked if she was related to Jeff with the matching name. "Well, sure..." my SIL said, "He's my husband." And the lady says, "Oh...he's my grandson's father." Talk about a shocker!! Thank goodness, the boy is older than they were married, but my BIL didn't know about this guy at all...so he says. I'm so glad everything turned out well with you guys...
Okay...more replies later...have to play Gamecube with Kyle before Shelley gets home. She's bringing a friend home with her for a sleepover. :dizzy: I need to prepare for that, too.

techwife- I'm in envy over you having your grocery shopping done. Thats my day tomorrow. And I hate to put everything away.
Thin- Yum early turkey!!!
Bob- I'm so sorry you're sick. You have such a rough time with your health. I hope you're feeling better soon.
Talitha- Woopie for you.. A new little one. Congrads.....
Off to wash my hair....

I had lunch out with my neighbor. Her treat. She got her contract for teaching at the school today. The lucky thing...they are paying her more per hour than me, I guess since she is teaching a core course instead of an enrichment class?! We went to a really good restaurant called Mambo Italiano. I got a Calzone. It was made with white flour...but thin crusted and absolutely delicious! I also had a Caesar salad. I kind of doubt I will be very hungry for dinner, but I am planning on fixing salmon filets, and a green vegetable.
I have gotten some knitting done..but not much. :( I am maybe half way now.
I had a nice long talk with my daughter....the one with the cats. She is very upset, and doesn't know what she is going to do. She knows which neighbor called the animal control, as it was an issue before, but for really stupid reasons. The woman claims she is allergic to the cats and if they walk across her yard, it bothers her - BUT, her kids will call them over to play with them, which is why they go into her yard. While my daughter was talking with the animal control officer, four or five loose dogs were running around - and there is a leash law for dogs- and he did nothing.
I better go knit some more. Its chilly here, so I may make myself a cup of hot tea, sit by the fish tank and knit some. I COULD do some cleaning...but why? :lol3:

Hello ladies......
I feell like I am nothing but a taxi service this week. Remember I told you my ds got a DUI last winter. Well, he is just now getting it taken care of. Because of his job, they just kept postponing it. We spent 2 days in court, and with the guilty verdict comes all the other crap!! I have been running all week. He had to be picked up at the bus depot on Saturday afternoon because they had to do some on loading of the ship last week, then had to be taken to jail on Monday, then picked up on Wednesday. Today was his alcohol evaluation. On Saturday he has to be taken back to the bus depot for another week of on loading. Then I will have to pick him back up when he get done........ There is another trip back before the Judge, then a DUI victims panel.......it seems the list goes on and on.
Today was Rosauer's wine and cheese sale and while I was deciding on a couple of bottles I started laughing out loud......Bill picked right up on it and started laughing too. Here we were picking up all this wine when he had just finished his eval........"No sir, there is not a problem with drinking in our family......." These wines will last me along time, but I am hinting for a wine rack for Xmas!! If I already have all the wine.....maybe they will get the hint.
Eating has been very good for me.......I am patting myself on the back here. I did miss Tuesdays exercise, but hit it really hard yesterday and today. My pants are starting to feel loser, so am hoping I am on my way again.
Monet-- Not getting a lot of sleep here either. I hate it when I don't drift right off to sleep. Hope you are feeling better this afternoon.
Muncher-- Ditto......hope you are feeling much better too.
Toni-- Sounds like your lady is missing you alot the last couple of weeks.........cleaning the bathroom is the worst job!! And even worse when you live in a house with all men.......
Talitha-- Congrats, I hope the morning sickness passes quickly!
BOB-- Hope that you too, will be feeling better. What is going around on that side of the US??
Tech-- Thank you, I am really excited over this, I always wanted a daughter. Now I have one, and don't have to do all the work. What more could I ask for??

Good morning! I just have a minute to say hi! I need to go hop in the shower and get ready to leave to go meet Talitha.
I really ought to make a list, and I will no doubt forget something, but I am running late here!
Breakfast was scrambled eggs and bacon with coffee.
I got another five inches knitted...so I am definitely half way now. Maybe a bit more than that.
Later!

Good morning....
Just getting ready to go in and get my exercise done. Planning on lots of housework this morning since I don't have too much running around to do. I do have to go in for a one day sale, they have bacon on really cheap, so I am going to see if they will sell a case of it.
Monet-- Have a great day with Talitha, give her hugs from all of us. I just love it when we are able to meet our sb friends. I was lucky enough to live close to Carrie. We are planning another meet this spring when she gets moved back up here. When she is not in school she is only about 20 miles away.
Well, I am going to go get it done......see you all later.

Good morning SB Superstars! :carrot:
I am feeling LOTS better this morning. I am thinking that it may have been stress-related stomach stuff yesterday. I do tend to get that from time to time, although its been quite a long time since I have. We have a lot of financial issues right now. We are not behind in anything, but we are scraping by, and then our van broke down the other day and we had to pile another 600 bucks on the credit card because we had no other place to get it from!!! That combined with the fact that we live in the city and our schools here are lousy, so I'm sending my kids to a private Christian school. I LOVE that school. Hannah is thriving there and Leah starts next year. I am just flipping that if I can't afford to send them there, they will have to go to the city schools. We are taking every bit of our $ and putting it toward their education- we even have a bathroom that is falling apart, but that is on hold for the kids. Anyhow- I think maybe with all that, I was just really stressed, and it showed up in my stomach.
I need to go shopping sometime soon-I have very little veggies in the house. I want to try and go later and at least get some salad.
TALITHA- I know it is a shock, but I'm sure that after you let it all sink in and talk it through with those closest to you, it will soon be alright. I will say congratulations- even though that is probably not what you want to hear right now!
CINDY- Wow! Lots of step classes! Thats awesome. I taught step for 2 years- I really miss it. It is an excellent all-around workout!!!
MONET- what brand whey protein do you use? I need to pick some up. I have tons of strawberries from the summer frozen in my freezer for just such a smoothie!! I am inspired by you to get back to my crocheting. I haven't picked it up in like 2 months- keeps my hands busy so I don't use them for eating!!! What happened with your daughter's cat situation- that lady sounds like a fruit! You cannot get a reaction from cats walking across your lawn OUTDOORS!!! I am allergic to cats too. She's probably more allergic to the pollen and stuff outdoors than those cats! Give me a break!!! Maybe she should stay inside- not the cats???
BOB- The "BUG" was my greatest fear when I started feeling sick yesterday. I'm sorry you had it. Thats the worst!! Hope you are feeling much better for the weekend!!!
TECH- I think you asked me awhile back about the school I went to- yup Arcadia. Sorry it took so long to reply- I simply forgot!!! If you read my post about my new "birthfamily" - they are the ones who live in Massena(SP?). How far is that from where you live?
TONI- I had one of those "hungry" days the other day too. I kept wandering aimlessly into the kitchen looking for something to pick on. Thankfully I only had dried apricots and triscuits!!
TEENSI- How funny about the wine! I too would love a larger wine rack- I jus have one of those small ones that hold like 7 bottles. I guess that is fine- but I just LOVE the look of those ones that are essentially a piece of furniture!!!
OK_ well hats it for now. My girls are home and I have a dentist appt later on, so off to do some stuff. Catch ya'll later- have a great day :dizzy:

HELLO EVERY BUDDY!!!
I went to work this morning and thought I felt fine, but about 10:45 a.m. it hit again! We've got 4 people out with this! I plan to just take it easy and dive into the CHICKEN SOUP!!
COLLEEN...Heaven knows what this is, but it's got it's toes dug into me! Let's put it this way....a year ago in October, I came back from vacation and it was all down hill from there. I was kinda hoping that when October rolled around again that it would be over, but NADA!!!! Keep your ears crossed that I can get this out of my system over the weekend and be done with it!
TALITHA...Did I read right???? There's a MUNCHKIN IN THE OVEN???? I know it's a bad time for y'all, but when the little critter gets here, you won't even think about that! CONGRATS!!!!
{{{{{{{{{HUGS TO ALL OUR NEW BUSTIN BUDDYS!!!}}}}}}}}}}}}} It's good to have you here with us. The weekends are a little slow except for us SEC FOOTBALL QUEENS, but other than that, we're usually booming! WELCOME!!!
MUNCH...I hope you don't get this...it's a killer!!! Retching comes from your toes and doesn't stop! Have a good weekend!
CINDY...did you get those couches yet???? IF SO...do you like them???
MONET...you out of school today????
TONI...STAY INSIDE UNTIL THAT NOGGIN GETS DRY!!! You don't want this bug!!!!
KRIS...Your kids out of school today? Enjoy your weekend!!!

I have been on the phone this afternoon with one of our student's mom because the daughter is sick. Well, in our conversation I mentioned trying to go to Harry's tomorrow (in Marietta). She said "Oh let me tell you something you need to try...Agave!!" She and her daughters have been using it in hot tea, etc. and love it! Well, I guess I'm going to have to pick up some to try. Does anyone know if you can cook or bake with it?
She also recommended a store called Life Groceries?? It apparently is a organic coop type of place, with great produce and a cafe' where you can get all kinds of vegetarian dishes, smoothies, etc. Now, I'm no vegetarian, but if they have cheaper organic produce than the grocery stores, it's worth a look don't ya think?!? ;)

Just a fly by. Got my grocery shopping done and everything put away. Now I'm pooped. Yippee I found the wheat thins that are legal. Got lots of good fruit and vegetables. Everyone have a good week end.

I just got in a little while ago from the market. Talitha looked good, Selah was her usual sunny, though active self. She got away from us a few times, but thankfully not for long! :) Jake was a bit touchy, and cried when he was left with me for a potty run...then was upset because Selah ate his corn on the cob...he finally fell asleep in the baby sling, and when they were pulling out of the parking spot, he was all smiles. Kids! We ate lunch there...their food is fabulous. I tried a spinach, broccoli and cauliflower casserole, a tahini and bean patty, and a samosa. Yum! I spent way too much...but got some GREAT deals! I am cooking beef stew for 50 on Monday, and got a 50# bag of red potatoes for $8, and a 25# bag of onions for $8! For $6 I got 8# of peeled baby carrots...so all I need now is the stew meat!
MUNCH: I use Designer Whey. You can get it at health food stores. GNC carries it. Its not the cheapest, but the quality is really good, and it is highly rated by sports nutrition groups.
THIN: I use agave for everything. Did you miss that? I bake with it, use it in tea, etc. I have been telling you to try it, I know. I am glad someone else has finally gotten you interested! BUT, do NOT buy the cheaper Mahadava (or whatever) brand. Get the Sweet Cactus Farms brand. It is made from the Blue Weber Agave, which is lower on the GI list than the other wild agave that the madhava brand uses. Trust me on this. You can also order online from SCF and its about the same price, even with shipping, as Harry's/Whole Foods. While you are there, check and see if they have an Indian grocery section. If they do, look for Chana Dal...it looks like yellow split peas. Its actually a type of garbanzo bean, yet smaller and cracked. It has a GI of an astoundingly low 8 or something close to that. Its very tasty and can be mixed into hummos, or spiced up as a side dish. I love it!
Ok, gotta go do a few things...will be back in a bit!

I have been knitting up a storm. I got about six inches done this evening, and maybe another six this morning. I went and bought three new tetras, and a cory catfish for my fish tank. The tetras are red with black fins. Very nice looking. Dinner was fried chicken, and salad. Tom was trying to encourage me to get the knitting done, which I thought was sweet of him. I have a cat sitting on me, and it is hard to type, so I better go!

Yes, I know I can be abit hard headed sometimes! :hyper: I've heard all the praises about Harry's and agave, just haven't found or made the time to go. We are going down toward Town Center Mall to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow and thought it would be the most convenient time to go. My life with two middle schoolers just doesn't leave much "ME" time anymore! We were at basketballgames tonight from 4:30-9:30pm while Sean played in the pepband. It was great, but I'm exhausted :faint: . In the next few weeks we have Christmas band and chorus concerts, two more dance performances and a couple more basketball games! I try to remember that in a few years they will be grown and gone and I will be beside myself with what to do with my time! :?:

THIN: I agree...enjoy the kids while you can. Mine are 27, 24, and 19...and I miss those days! When I am teaching the middle schoolers at school, I am always amazed to think that I taught my son and his friends in middle school, and its been FIFTEEN years! :faint: Talk about feeling old! Enjoy Harry's...they have frozen ww pie crusts, and loads of other legal goodies! Look for the Lundberg rice chips. I just tried them yesterday, and wow! They are made with brown rice, and seem to be legal, and if not, are just barely not. Your kids might like them with salsa, or dip. I got the sea salt ones.
I am doing well on the knitting...just taking a break. Another four or 8 rows (its a four row pattern repeat) and I COULD bind it off, so I will do what I can before I have to leave for the shower! :) I guess I am like the moms who would shop for birthday party presents on the way to the party...with wrapping paper, scissors and tape in the trunk! ( I plan to use a gift bag with a baby theme...someone gave me a handful of them that she got and did not need!)

Hi all! Wow- I wish we had a Harry's or something in my neck of the woods!! We do have a place called Feel Rite- but they specialize more in the organic stuff versus the whole wheat etc. I checked them out a bit ago and couldn't find Agave there (tons of Stevia...) and they are so way over-priced. I would also love a Trader Joes. I have friends from California who rave about them. Oh well, maybe I'll open my own place!!???
I decided to stay away from starchies for breakfast and had a few slices of bacon and scrambled eggs. I normally "have" to have toast with my eggs, so that is a biggie for me. I am getting over the sweet cravings (its been 3 weeks) - I don't really even want any of the Halloween candy still hangin around. (I never touched it this year!!) THAT is a major miracle!!!
I cheated and jumped on the scale this morning and I am the same from last week- but my body is funny- it sometimes doesn't show up till the day of weigh in. Soooo- I am hopeful I will at least have one gone by Mon. I am being super careful these next two days. I don't mind a slow loss- thats the way my body is.
MONET AND THIN- I have my 2 girls- 4 and 7 - and I have been "reflecting" alot lately on how fast they are growing. I have always tried to enjoy every moment with them- but I still end up feeling guilty somehow. Maybe its just a mom thing. I dunno. But I definitely want to be able to look back on my life with them and KNOW that I did my best and it was good enough.
Well, speaking of spending time with the kids- I am gonna go spend time with mine!! I will check back in later- hope everyone stays strong on plan today and we'll all be on our way to our Christmas challenge goals!!!
HUGS- MUNCH

Howdy ho! Having my usual lazy Sat. It rained a bit which wasn't expected. But adds to a beautiful fall day. Well I had some wine last night which I probably shouldn't have but hopefully it won't hurt me come Monday on my loss. Had scrambled eggs and a piece of ww toast for breakfast. Dinner tonight will be grilled salmon and a salad. I'm watching the cooking shows today they're showing their Thanksgiving cooking. Have a good afternoon....

Well, I got up this morning to the news that Sean's hamster was dying. :( I'm not sure what happened, we haven't had her too long. She lasted maybe another hour, so we had a full fledged funeral for her. RIP Debbie
The kids made her a box lined with fabric and put in some bedding and treats for her. Then thoughts turned to "when can I get another one."
We shopped till we dropped today! :dizzy: We hit Harry's and spent a long time just wandering around. Just what does one do with purple potaotes? :dunno: Rachel liked the rainbow chard they had, but I thought I would look up some recipes for regular chard and try that first, before I go exotic  I got some agave, brown rice cakes, and fresh ground peanut butter and almond butter. The kids picked out some pink apples of some kind and some pita chips. They were also fascinated that you can grind your own pb there as well as your own flour. It was not as far to get there as I had imagined, so we will probably try to go again soon. We also visited the Life Grocery store that had been recommended to me and I was not as impressed with it. They did however have a large variety of rice, beans and homemade organic granolas that you could buy by the pound. The prices were not bad either. I let the kids get some ww fig newtons made with natural fruit sugars, no added sugars. We haven't tried them yet, so we'll see.
well, I'll go now. It's getting cool now that the sun has gone down and I'm already feeling sleepy. I may have to take a hot bath and try some hot tea with agave! :carrot:

Breakfast was espresso with cream and agave, two poached eggs, Canadian bacon, and hollandaise sauce with one brown rice cake.
We want to get in a walk before it starts to rain...but I am crawling back in bed. I slept poorly, and one of the cats got shut up in our room and her collar rattling woke me up at 4.
THIN: My daughter's hamster died in my hand...I felt terrible that I could not help it. I think it actually starved, as it had no hoard, and she said she fed it, but I think she may have forgotten for a few days. I hope Sean is not too upset. Did you get the Sweet Cactus Farms agave?

Well....we made it back last night. We've been out of town for dh's job since Wednesday. Guess I didn't do to bad because I weighed this morning....5.5 pounds. IN A WEEK. I can't hardly believe it. I haven't been really watching portion size. Just trying to learn what I can eat and what I can't. I only got 3 days of exercise in, too. I know this was just one week out of many where I won't lose as much...but I've very excited and motivated by seeing that scale this morning.
I still haven't caught up with everyone's post, but I'll try!
Does anyone have a suggestion on a red wine that is good and not sugary?
Ellen
11-13-2005, 11:11 AM
I took an hour long nap. Not sure if I feel better...I am not awake yet. :)
I hear tapping from inside the walls someplace...Tom is working on the plumbing. I hope he can get the cold water back to our bathroom soon.
BRANDI: Cabernet Sauvignon. We like Rodney Strong, if you don't mind spending a bit, and for cheap, Yellow Tail in the magnum- their Cab-Merlot is good. Little Penguin Cabernet Sauvignon is good. Personally, I like whites, but reds are better for you. I try to justify drinking port because its red! Its fortified and very sweet though.... Congrats on the loss! That is awesome!

The granola is awesome! and has only juice or natural honey as sweeteners. :carrot: (I tried just a taste!) The kids love it! I have found a couple of recipes on the web that I would like to try, maybe substituting splenda brown sugar for regular. One recipe I found is for granola bars, but uses sweetened condensed milk as a binder. Anyone got any ideas we could try as a substitute? :dunno:
Monet- yes I got the Sweet cactus. I wonder if it would tast good as a sweetener for granola? ;)
Ellen
11-13-2005, 12:51 PM
THIN: Yes, the agave would taste great as a binder for the granola. Play with it some, and see. I go through at least one of those bottles of agave a week. I use it in my coffee, tea, as a pancake syrup, in yogurt...and I have baked with it a lot. It makes an awesome cheesecake, I use it in bread, in pies, cakes...you name it! The only thing I don't like about it is the cost! :) My Harry's had it for $2.79 a piece about a year ago, then the price went up dramatically. :(

:( Afternoon, everybody...DH is off to Vermont again for the week. He has to be there at 8am tomorrow, so he had to leave tonight. It just seems extra crappy when he has to leave on Sunday night after being cozy on the couch all day watching the Bills game ( :cheer: WOO HOO!! GO BILLS!! :cheer: ). So, here I sit trying to choke down some leftover chicken salad from lunch. The kids are getting popcorn chicken and fries and green beans, but I'd much rather be cooking a big Sunday dinner for us all, that's for sure.
So, off I go to sulk. I think I'll be posting a loss for tomorrow's MMM! That's good, at least. I've been pretty much on plan all week in spite of the oreo's and leftover halloween candy in the kitchen!! Pretty good, eh?
I think I'll go take a hot bath after dinner. :( I miss my DH...
