Good Morning!
I hated to see the weekend end. :( I slept a bit later than usual this morning, and actually slept pretty well last night. I don't feel all that rested this morning though. I am determined to have a perfect week with my eating plan this week, so to that end, I started out well this morning. I had a smoothie made with strawberries and water, and 1.5 scoops of natural whey protein powder. I added about 1 teaspoon of agave. I am drinking my first cup of coffee with half and half and a teaspoon of agave. Lunch will be leftovers, or chicken salad. The leftovers are spaghetti with Mavarik ground beef, and brown rice pasta, or chicken curry on brown basmati rice.
Its MMM, and I forgot to weigh in before I ate my breakfast...which was maybe a bit of a Freudian slip, since I really did not want to weigh in this morning. I need to get back on track for a week first.
Tonight, we are supposed to go over to a young couple's house and help with their haunted house. They really went all out on it this year, building a tent like area, with walls, and a door, a wooden coffin big enough for one of their friends to stand it...the works. We are supposed to help herd kids through it, etc. I am supposed to dress up for it, but I have no idea what to wear. Maybe my black skirt and a black t-shirt.
I never purchased any candy to give out tonight. I guess we will just leave the light off, and not answer the door if anyone comes before we leave. I hope no one does any 'tricks', but I seriously doubt they will. The lady across the street has kept her light off, and not answered the door for the ten years we have lived here, and no one does anything to her....
I will be back later. I need to think through the challenge too, and come up with a plan for the holidays. Christmas will be at my daughter's and her husband, the professional chef, will be cooking. I will not have much say for that meal, but Thanksgiving, and parties...I need a plan for them. :)
Later!

Good morning! I have to post my first weigh in! I lost 2.5 pounds!!! I am sooo happy. It has been sooo long since the scale has moved (in the right direction  ) I think it has been like 8 months where I was totally fed up with the scale. I think I finally found the right way to eat. Yippee!
OK- now I must calm down. :p
Monet- I have been thinking about Thanksgiving and parties too. I have always just "let myself enjoy it" because it is a special day. I have learned I really can't do that. Its not gonna work for me. It never has in the past. This time around and being on SB, I feel I will have enough choices where I can probably still be satisfied and I can always make something to bring that I can have! My problem is gonna be portion CONTROL!!! I have to make myself stop!
Ok- I have to get my butt in gear and do something around this messy house!
Hope everyone has a great day!! Hugs- MUNCH

Good Monday and MMM to everyone. My MMM is not great because I'm back to 166, which is up 2 pounds. Although my eating last week accounts for it. So, I need to follow the point made in my sig. and get watching what I'm eating.
So far today I've have my wonderful homemade meusli and have walked 6400 steps. Hope to get 10000, BUT eating right is even more important. Tonight is class, and my DH and I always get together at a restaurant as he has class also. Chinese tonight. I'll be good!
I've been wired up to the telephone for 90 minutes now. I have a call in to SSI and I guess they only have one person handling all the incoming calls. What do I expect with a government office!
BOB--Be sure to read my post on page 6 of last weeks support board.
Have a great day y'all.

Good morning all. I didn't step on the scale. I forgot before I went o the Y.. It's been a crazy morning. I'm sitting here with a Thermal Fusion Enzyme masque on myt face gearing up to make some calls.
Trav left for work early, which woke the kids up. SO I got up and fed them and had my fiber shake for breakfast. After Travis left for work, my neighbor called. She had locked herself out of her house and wanted to know if we had a key (we are very close, she has a key to our house.) We don't because we always use her locked key,w hich someone has taken now. So my ghetto Cali upbringing changed the day. I went over with my 2 kids and an old creditcard, and I was into her brand new $350K house in under 60 seconds. Hows that for safe, right? She was very thankful, yet terrified :D
I reminded her that I could have gotten her car hotwired, too, if she needed it
So I headed to the Y and did my water aerobics. Now I'm back sipping on a Go Figure shake with strawberries. YUMM!!
Now I've got ot get to work. It's the last day of the month, so I've got to see if I can drum up a bit more sales to meet my goal. I'm only $200 off!!!!! Yep that's of $10K!!! I can't believe I'm this close.
Monet- You inspired me with your shake. I had forgotten I had some strawberries in the fridge. I'm enjoying them right now
Munch- You're awesome!!!!!! Good job. This is such a healthy lifestyle. You're gonna love it!!!

WELL DUH!!!! IT WAS RIGHT THERE HIDING ALL ALONG!!!http://bestsmileys.com/doh/3.gif http://bestsmileys.com/doh/2.gif
GATOR....HOPEFULLY....Y'ALL WILL GO IN THERE AND WHOMP UP ON THEM AND IT WILL END UP THE BIGGEST PLATTER OF FRIED CHICKEN THAT'S EVER BEEN SEEN!!! Do it for PHAT PHIL!!!! Our Offense hasn't really shown up for any game this season. The games that we have won were by the GRACE OF SMOKEY'S TAIL!!! The PROBLEM IS RANDY SANDERS and why they can't see that I don't know!!!!! David Cutcliff is in Ktown and they need to scoop hip back up so we can get some kind of normal back! AND YES....I'LL BE PULLED RIGHT UP TO THE TV TO SEE Y'ALL WHOMP UP ON THE http://bestsmileys.com/animals/3.gif
I have to follow a Diabetic Diet, so I went to B&N and bought a book that tells me just what I can eat. NO LIVER.....I can't believe that!! LOVE LIVER!!!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH LIVER??????
Hope everyone has a plan to stay out of the candy tonight.
I bought stuff I don't like and not too much of it so I will probably run out and then shut the door. Seems like the neighborhood kids come early and then all the drop off kids come later. So if I run out by that time, I won't mind.
I think I have my head on straight this week. I need to anyway as Monet mentioned with the holidays coming I need to get on track and stay there.
It was a nice weekend and we got lots of yard work done.
Monet, I am waiting until next week to weigh too. I too am planning for an OP week.
Munch, congrats on your first loss on SB. I hope you see many, many more of them with us. Thanksgiving can be pretty easy since turkey and sweet potatoes are legal foods. You can even make a legal pumpkin pie. Portion control is a big problem for me too. I have to learn that I don't have to eat everything on my plate.
Gator, I'm sure that 2 lbs is from the game party and will be gone in a day or 2 of legal eating. Mostly water I'm sure. It was a good game and I was pulling for the Gators. Don't tell Monet.
Bob, how are the diuretics working? Look at all the exercise you are getting running to the potty :fr: Sorry about the Vols loss. What a bummer!
Talitha, Wow you had a great month of sales. Sure hope you can reach that $200. Sure had a good laugh about you getting into the neighbors house so easily. :carrot:
Have a great day.

Okay...just a quick check in. I'm in between Kyle's party and the parade and then it's Shelley's party at the middle school. :dizzy: I'll be so glad when today is overwith. My DH just made me feel bad about Kyle's Darth Vader costume. I think I've mentioned that I'm disorganized...right? So, I can't find his black sweats ANYWHERE!! And I just hate going to Walmart on the weekend, so I decided to wing it with the squares of black material I have leftover from Shelley's costume last year and make a small cape for him and my husband, whose mother was, LITERALLY, a hollywood costume designer, says it's really weak and says, 'really...what have you done for it...you cut out a square and put a hole in it for his head...' :( You know...I'm good at curtains and that's about it. So, I'm going to go get Shelley's costume from last year and make a cape out of that. DH says it has to go to the ground. You know...I just got TOM yesterday and now I'm just really depressed and feeling really sensitive about it all.
Anyhow...just a quick question for MUNCH: So...did you go to Hilton schools? I graduated in 1983. Wow...what a small world...just when I feel like I'll never have anyone in my neck of the woods on the board...I've lived in several places in Greece and grew up in North Greece (which is Hilton, to me...) and have lived behind the Marriot on Ridge Road, by the mall, down by the lake, over by Kodak Park and did a two-year stint in Fairport/Macedon. I went to MCC. I worked at Penney's in Long Ridge Mall for 10 years in the beauty salon. Before I worked at Penney's, I worked in Brockport. You could say I'm from Greece, but went to Hilton schools. But I spent all my summers up here with my mom while my dad commuted to Kodak and had my 'summer friends' and my 'winter friends'. Oh...and how 'bout those Bills!! Of course, I've been a rabid fan since I can remember. I even had my picture taken with...Joe Ferguson...when I was 14 years old. I was completely star-struck. I wonder whatever happened to him? They did great last night...until the last few minutes...which is all it takes to lose a ball game!!
Okay...gotta to get Lord Vader a better cape before the parade...talk to you guys later!!
:)Kris :)
Oh...and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
Will do more replies later if I have time...if not, tomorrow for sure
PS... my son is dancing like the carrot!! :carrot: :lol3:

Flying by with the lunch report. Leftovers just did not appeal...so I had two Mavarik Ranch (all beef, no fillers) hot dogs with no buns, or ketchup, and some popcorn. (yeah, I know...not legal really, but not wheat which was its appeal to me) I had a second cup of coffee with agave and half and half. Did I mention I ordered agave from Sweet Cactus Farms? Their price included shipping, which made it about the same as I can get it around here, actually about 10 cents less. I like the dark, but can't find it locally, so I ordered a combo pack of both light and dark. It got here in less than four days, which I thought was terrific.

 Happy Halloween to everyone
I have French class tonight and my DH has BSF, so neither of us will be home. I will close all the curtains and turn off the outdoor lights, and just won't bother with it. That's the way I normally solve the problem. For those of you with kiddies and feel like you have to give out candy, give out dimes instead. you can't eat them, and yet you'll be giving something out. Just stay out of your kid's candy!!!
BOB--Yep, Gamecock tastes like chickin'. We have to get by Vandy this week, and this year nothing is guaranteed. I really know your frustration with the offense. As I said before, the only offense that we see in the offense is the offense to the fans when they see how offensive they are. NOT! Some years are just long and sad, and being a Gator fan since 1960, we've had more than our share of bad years. SOS was our "savior" and finally put UF on the map. He still is an offensive genius, but just someone else's offensive genius. I know the Gators will try hard to win one for PP, and we all've gotta pull for Fillise's team to pull one out in Athens.
Lunch was a big salad, lots of lettuce, 1/2 apple chopped up, paper thin sliced onion, 5 baby carrots, and 3 oz. ham. Then 1.5 T of my low cal dressing and 1/4 cup non fat cottage cheese on top. Yum. I'm nice and satisfied and will be set until dinner.
Munch--Congratulations on your loss. That's a really good start. You'll find this WOE very good, and just about "normal". Actually, when you eliminate the processed foods and the white flour and sugar, and stuff like sugary cereals, grits, etc. you've worked yourself down to a really basic healthy diet, which would be good for a lifestyle for life. That's not hard, is it. The hard part is staying weaned off sugar and watching portion sizes. Good luck to you.
BOB--I love liver too. But don't eat it because it is the body's filter, getting rid of all the bad stuff. I used to eat it but haven't in several years. Let us know when you research the diabetic diet--Isn't it pretty much like SB? The stuff we eat on SB seems to be designed to keep the blood sugar level, avoiding any spikes that come with starch, sugar, and simple starches and sweeteners. Let us know as we are interested in your progress.
Well, gotta go. I finally got through to the SSI after 90 minutes on hold.

Wheww! What a weekend! Saturday we went to Halloween party at MIL house. It was fun! though not quite as frightful as we normally are. One of my husbands' cousin's wife passed away during the night Friday night and we felt a little guilty partying when this had happened. The kids both had friends over to spend the night and they went along with us. Then yesterday was spent getting the friends back home and going to visit the funeral home.
In between all of this we have the new furbabies to take care of. We have new names for them- Salem and Blair! Hope we still like the names AFTER Halloween!
Rachel was complaining that she felt hot last night around 8pm. :o I took her temp and it was 101! No complaints of sore throat, earache, stomachache or anything. I even asked her if it has been burning when she goes to the bathroom. I gave her some motrin and put her to bed. Well she wakes up this orning fever free and ready to go! Wierd huh? I haven't heard anything from the school nurse yet either! Maybe it was just one of those things! :chin:

OK, I've been thinking about how to make it through the holiday period starting in 4 weeks. What really get's me is the sugar. Sugar is addictive for me, and when I'm on sugar I don't even think right. Eating sugar begats eating more sugar. And some of the best stuff during the holidays are the desserts. I can just picture in my mind some of the beautiful stuff--cakes and cookies--really unique and delicious stuff that I made. I made batches of festive cookies and gave most of them away as gifts. Wreaths, Santas, apricot crescents, candy cane cookies , just really neat ones. So maybe if I "contract" to not eat the sweet stuff I can eat stuff like dips in moderation. Kind of like a trade off. Or another plan would be to make menus ahead, and include a cookie or treat in it. I would have to make at least one week ahead of menus. If I served myself a cookie as part of an "eating plan" I could have my cookie and eat it too. If I upped the energy (caloric) intake by, say 100 calories a day to take into account my "holiday treat" maybe I could handle it that way. I'm just thinking aloud here, and using this as a discussion starter. Let me know what you think.

Hello everyone.
I got a call from Carrie this last week asking where I had been, so decided it was time to get my rear back here. I wasn't really avoiding getting here, it has just been so hard lately. This darn computer has been acting up and it takes me forever to get online anymore. Also with summer was my fruit picking and canning. That takes up a lot of time. Took in a lot of Brant's rodeo's this season. I have also had both surgeries on my legs, taken a couple of trips with my Mom, and my youngest son is home now until after Christmas. Am also still babying my little Bassethound along. She is still hanging in there, and has been doing okay for now.
Weight wise........I have gained about 20 pounds, since July, and feel like crap!! I restarted last week and was down one pound this morning. I can't believe that I have let it come to this again. I promised myself that I would not gain any back this time, but here it is again. My restart weight was 185 and was 184 this morning. I am eating a more Protein Power way for awhile, as I need to detox from all sugars. With my son being home and him being on a ship for the past 9 months.......he has wanted nothing but burgers, pizzas, Chinese and all of the other bad stuff. I am determined to get this weight off again. So I am really going to try and get here most every day. I hope my computer will cooperate. I am hoping that Santa will bring me a new one this year!!
I started my work outs again last week, got in a full 5 days on the TBT, plus 2 days of walking. I have broken them down into upper and lower body work outs. I will do upper on MWF one week, and then on TTH the next, alternating with lower body. I am still trying to get in my walks on nice days, but that is getting fewer and fewer as the weather is getting crappy. It has rained the past few days and is drizzling again this morning.
I hope that you all have been well, and that everyone down south has survived all of the tragedies. My heart goes out to all of you that may have had losses. And if there is anything I can do for you please let me know.
Solly

Just a quick check in. Trying to get a legal fix.
Dinner will be ww pizza since we need soemthing qucik and easy for the door bell starts ringing. Or maybe hot dogs.
Tech, I'm sure Kyle wouldn't even notice the cape. All they worry about at this point is how much candy they get. What ever you come up with will be great I'm sure. Don't let it get you down.
Monet, sounds like a great buy on the agave. Just in time for holiday baking too.
Gator, that is a good debate. Do you not deprive yourself. Upping your energy is a good trade off, but can you stop at 1 treat? I'm not sure I could. 1 leads to more for me, then the whole weekend is blown wide open. I'm nt sure the trade off from sweets to dips would work for me either. Dips would be just a bad for me. I think allowing yourself a treat if you can control it is great especially by adding some more exercise to counteract it.
Thin, glad your DD is feeling better today and it was a quick bug.
Teensy, so glad to see you back. Glad to hear to doggie is doing fine. Those kiddos sure can be a bad influence on our eating can't they. You can get that wt off. I just don't know why we don this to ourselves. Hope Santa reads your wish list. I sent you a PM.
Have a great trick or treat

TEENSY: Yeah! I asked Carrie to call, and I am SO glad she did! If she hadn't, I was going to try and find your number and call myself! I was getting worried about you! BIG hugs! You can get that weight back off...you know you can! :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot: Man, am I happy to see you!
SOLLY: I don't think I better do any holiday baking....I have zilch in the will power department right now.....
My friends, I am going to go crawl in bed. That bug that Thin's Rachel had? I think I have it! I feel queasy, and headachy. I may have to skip helping at the haunted house, as I don't want to have to skip school tomorrow or Wednesday! :(

Happy Monday and Halloween to all ! :)
I was a bad Halloweener and wasnt even here to hand out candy. This was my first year not. I opted instead on going to the gym for a aerobics class.
The older I get the more I really dont like this holiday all that much.
Started my week out good on the eating. I was the munchaholic this weekend. Today I was tearied eyed. Dont know if its hormones or what ! Thats probably why I was wanting to snack so much.
Congrats to all the losers !! I maintained from last week. So hoping for a loss this week. Just 5 more to get me to 199. Wish I could will them off lol.
Well ive got some work from work to do before I hit the hay.
Catch you all tomorrow !

What a day!!!
Tav come home after lunch and worked form here, so I couldn't have the computer :( Not a big deal. I had otherstuff to do. We went out to T&T with all of the people from church in our neighborhood. WE're talking 10 families. It was a mob!!! 15 kids and more adults. It was great. Selah was a fairy princess and jake was a pumpkin.
Get this. There was someone in a scary old nasty van driving really slow up and down the street and offering candy from the side doors to kids. I couldn't believe it. My pastor called 911 to report it as suspicious. It was really scary.
ANyway, I'm exhausted. I got $295 in by the end of the day!!!! Now, I am going to go rest and watch a movie with my DH. Anyone seen Diary of A Mad Black Woman? My friend's son recorded all of the sound for the movie. They are coming out with a sequel to it.
I'm too tired for replies Hugs and sweet dreams to you all!!

Good evening everyone! Well- we went out trick or treating with the girls. They came back with LOTS of candy. I was just about drooling. But the thing that is stopping me is that I know I can't have just one (Lays was correct....). I almost (out of sheer habit, mind you) reached my hand into "the bag" and retrieved M&M's (my biggest fave). But I did not cave in. I am instead having a glass of Merlot. Alcohol over chocolate. Not a bad trade :carrot: .
TALITHA: thanks for the cheers- that is such a funny story about your neighbor! My hubby has used his "previous delinquent talents" to help others as well!!
SOLLY- thanks for the encouragement! I was thinking that too about Thanksgiving, that it would be actually workable- lets all keep each other in line with our portion control!!
TECH- I went to Greece Athena for junior high and Arcadia for senior- graduated in 86. I lived pretty much half my life right off Dewey Ave near Northgate plaza- ring a bell? I know where all those places are that you mentioned! Too weird. AND don't tell me you are a hairdresser- I am too, although I only work on the side now. I also went to MCC for a couple years!! Both my parents worked at Kodak. We lived for the first few years of my life near that Kodak overpass that crosses the road on Lake Ave. I went to college in Brockport fro 2 semesters as well! Love the smallness of the world! And the Bills- wow- Joe F!!! I was so upset that they lost last night- oh well. I still remain a loyal fan. My hubby grew up within earshot of the stadium. Everytime the Bills scored while they were watching a game, they would run outside and listren to the cheering in the air!
MONET- I am so surprised you posted about the agave. I was just looking all over for it today. It must not exist in my part of the world. I found stevia and fructose- but no Agave. I will try ordering it from that Farm! Thanks for the info. By the way, can you give me some of your favorite ideas for using it?
GATOR- thanks for the congrats. I really am excited about this- its the first time I have ever really felt this is something I can keep up for life. And my kids will benefit too. How can I go wrong? As for Holiday strategies- i sooooo love Christmas and all the baking- cookies are my favorite. I know I cannot let myself even have one. (I will NOT stop at just that) That is why Weight Watchers never worked for me long term- they let you eat anything- I am too addicted to do that. I have to view the stuff as toxic for my body. Dips and I have the same relationship. Could you allow for a "legal" treat- that way you won't be tempted to have lots more? I am hoping that I can do that. The holidays always are so tough for me. But I am determined this time!!! Lets help each other!
TEENSYBEAN- I feel your pain! Thats why I'm here- I let myself put back on 10 pounds after a year of fighting to take it off ounce by ounce. Thats what led me to believe something with the way I was eating was wrong. I was losing at an incredibly slow rate (like .2 lbs a week for Petes sake!) and then I could gain it all back in a month no lie. Sounds like you are off to a great Re-start! One pound this week - great job!!
BOB- fat bottomed girl- heehee- just heard that song today on the radio!!!
THINWITHIN-my one daughter always gets fevers with no other symptoms. They get high too- 105 even. I used to worry like crazy and call the doc constantly. They told me that some kids have that type of immune system that fights off infections and viruses with a fever and that is that. Hope she continues to feel good! Nice to "meet" ya!
CINDY- Sounds like them hormones to me. I was like that a couple weeks ago. If anyone so much as gave me a sideways glance, I was depressed. Good for you for exercising on Halloween!!
Well, all, I am going to try and turn in fairly early (hard for me cause I am a night owl by nature...) Thanks for the support- you guys are all so great- I am thankful I am here!

Just flying by. I turned off the lights, and kept to my room tonight. I had no candy to hand out, and only one person rang the bell anyway. It was probably my neighbor's daughter...who is one of my students. She will more than likely let me know I did not answer for her.... :)
BOB: Carrie registered here, but did not ever post. She is on another board that Teensy and I post on, and I went over there and asked her to call Teensy as I knew she had her phone number. (they live really close to one another and have met face to face even! :) ) So, relax. You are NOT losing your mind...yet. :s:
MUNCH: I use agave almost exclusively. I use it to sweeten my coffee, tea, and iced tea. I use it when I bake as well. I think the ratio is 3/4 of a cup of agave to 1 cup sugar. I use less as I don't like stuff that sweet anymore. For instance, I made an apple pie last week and used about 1/2 a cup of agave in the whole pie. It was not at all sweet, but the taste of the apples came through loud and clear! :) I use it when I make bread instead of sugar or honey to feed the yeast. The Sweet Cactus Farms brand is the best, as it is made from the blue agave, which is supposed to have a lower GI than wild agave.
TALITHA: Did the police come and check out that van? That is scary...
BOB: That helicopter crash was out at Briscoe Field, which is about 20 miles from me. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Good evening girls......
Today went very well. I stayed on plan so that is a few days now under my belt. I sure am getting rid of alot of water........Eating mostly proteins, so am feeling full. I am hoping to get totally back to SB after detoxing for awhile. Right now I really think I need to leave all sweets, including fruits alone. This is really hard too because I need to go pick the apples off our tree. Last year they were the best I had ever eaten...... not quite as flavorful this year but still sweet and crisp.
B-- Spanish omelet with 2 T salsa, decafe.
L--Kielbasa, 1 c coleslaw, handful sunflower seeds. Takes so long to shell, that I don't eat too many!!!
D--Ground beef patty with cheese, 1 c coleslaw 1/2 c sf jello. (Made with half cream so it is rich, but not so sweet)
water- 126 oz
exercise- yes
Thank you for all the warm welcomes.......I have missed you all and look forward to some real nice chats and lots of good old Sugar Buster support!!
Solly-- It is great to see that you are here and doing okay. Even though I wasn't online, I was thinking of all of you. Just have to grit my teeth and put up with the slow puter. Some days are worse than others. I know that I do a lot better when I am here. Thanks for the encouragement.
Monet-- Thanks for having Carrie get ahold of me, as I told Solly.......I have been thinking of all of you. I swear that I will stick around. I need you guys!! Hope that you feel better tomorrow.
BOB-- Just try and get rid of me now.........
Cindy-- I stick around to hand out the candy.......but I usually only get 3 or 4 kids......tonight I got 6!!! Two of them are relatives........boy, they sure were cute!!.
Talitha-- Good to see you back here too. It has been awhile.......
Muncher--Nice to meet you. Glad the girls had a nice T or T. Put the candy in the freezer......for me it is out of sight, out of mind. Our freezers are out in the shop, so I have to make a journey to get to them, lol.

Good Morning! I did not sleep that well last night, so I am feeling a bit out of sorts this morning. (that means crabby...) And my toe started aching last night, and I can't figure out why. The thought of squeezing it into a pair of closed shoes for school this afternoon is not a pleasant one.
I am going to throw on some clothes, and go for a walk. Too bad I can't go walk in my night gown. :)
I will be back later!

Good Morning Ladies,
We didn't have as many T or T last night. Each year it gets less and less. I had lots of candy less. But I did not eat any of it. I'm sure the kids will finish it off.
Monet, I know you are crabby, but are you feeling better?
Bob, I'm glad you asked about Carrie, I was wondering the same thing but didn't want to look foolish and ask.
Cindy, the you may have been a bad Halloweener as far as the kids are concerned, but you were the best as far as your health was concerned. Good for you. I'm with you, I've never really liked this holiday. Mainly b/c I'm not very creative and never could come up with good costumes. I don't even live decorating the house for it.
Talitha, That was scary about the van. I hope the police came and investigated it. Congrats on making your monthly goal.
Munch, I'm with you on the alcohol over chocolate anyday :carrot: On portion control, I have found journaling and actually using measuring cups and spoons really helps. Check out the recipe for Deb's cheesecake for the agave. it's to die for.
Teensy, your apple trees and Monet's apple pies are sounding too yummy. Somebody needs to get together and bake one up. Glad you got some days under your belt. It gets easier. One day at a time. Hang in there.
Have a great day. Be back later.

Monet: Geez...hope your toe feels better!! And...did anyone knock on our door for trick or treating? And I think I had that little queazy/headachey bug...for us, it was short lived. Hope it is for you, too!!
Teensy: That sounds like...well...Atkins! I could and should do the same for a bit and put my body on a bit of a sugar detox. All I've had today so far is coffee, but I has so much sugar yesterday, the bowl of leftover candy in the dining room doesn't even look the least bit appetizing. Bleh! It sounds like you have been BUSY...and it's nice to see you back!! :carrot:
Munch: Well, let's just get specific...I grew up on Latta Road down by the west end of it. And I used to eat lunch in that pass over Lake Ave in Kodak!! Well, I did a couple times, anyway. I used to work in the buildings surrounding the Kodak Tower for a long time and I worked in that Building 205 that goes along Mt. Read Blvd. My sister lives in Greece and all her kids are Athena kids, but most of them are in college now. They grow up so darn fast. And...if you're a hairdresser, you just have to tell me where you've worked!! We have to have known each other at some point!! I worked at Penney's from about 1983 till 1993 when I quit to go back to college. My hands were, literally, being eaten away by perm solution and hair color. I was on prednisone and other steriods to control it. And I thought...what am I doing this for? So, I switched careers and became a secretary and worked at kodak. Then got laid off and got a job working for Home Properties at Clinton Square. That was my favorite job until my husband and I decided to move her where I could be a stay-at-home mom, which is my favorite job ever! We probably should by PMing each ohter, but I'm just so excited I finally met someone that's from my world!! :D
Talitha: I remember the previews of that movie and it looked hilarious. We just got HBO, now that the weather is getting less user-friendly, and my DH and I watched Napolean Dynomite. We died laughing. I knew it was kind of a High School cultish kind of film, so I knew it had to be a good suprise, but it was hysterical! It was the most fun DH and I have had watching a movie in a long time!! AND...that is sooo scary about the van! Glad your pastor called 911...let us know if you hear of an arrest!! Oh...and I loved hearing about your 'hidden talents'...I'm sure there are some colorful stories behind them!! :lol3:
Cindy: I used pink on your section to cheer you up. Sorry you're feeling blue. You know, I'm 39 and I already don't like this holiday. I mean, its fun once you get prepared and get the decorations out and everything hemmed and cut and done-up and can just go out and trick or treat, but then there's so many things to remember...and parties to prepare for. And everything seems to be such a competition. The kids love it, but it's so stressful and such a drag for me. And then I don't know what to do with all the friggen candy!
BOB: Glad the water pills are helping. And, Lord Vader came out just fine. It got him about three pounds of handouts and candy, so that's the main thing, isn't it:
Gator: My strategy is to have one day to go hog-wild. I don't work in an office with people bringing in their dishes, so I don't have that temptation to deal with. But, I think that if you have in mind...an office party or whatever...a day when you can just pig out, it'll help you say, as you pass on the yummy things, just a couple days!!
Solly: Everything worked out fine...I'm sure my costume woes were elevated by my standard TOM tyrade. Bad timing. WW pizza sounds good...I think I'll have that for dinner tonight!! BUt I'll avoid the temptation to top it off with tootsie rolls!! :lol3:
Thin: Sometimes those spikes in temp just happen. Maybe overtired or something. And as far as celebrating at parties after someone has passed away...I understand, but unfortunately the world keeps spinning and we all have to continue living our lives, in spite of the dreadfully sad things that happen. I LOVE the cat names!! Just perfect for some halloween kitties!! :)
Well, I think that covers everyone. I got Shelley off to school...which was a chore because she was BEAT! But, the good news is since the time change, she goes to school in the daylight again!! That's always nice. AND, I packed her a lunch with flavored water, a granola bar, yogurt and a banana. The granola bar and yogurt aren't really low in sugar, but it's at least healty. I saw her at her party with a large donut, three cookies and a cupcake on her plate! I was going to make her put it back, but thought it would be rude since she'd 'touched' them. And then she had a game of eat-the-donut-from-the-string...twice!! And then it was candy, candy, candy. She's a bottomless pit!! But, you know...she's just a kid and it IS halloween. What's the worst that can happen...she'll get sick and then realize why sugar is bad and practically toxic! So, I let her have fun.
Well, gotta go get dressed. Talk to you guys later!! :carrot:

TECH or MUNCH: I wish you lived closer so you could run over and cut my hair for me. :) I need to get it done so it looks nice, is easy to care for, and is still long enough to keep my husband happy. I have put it off and put it off...and its looking decidedly shaggy right now.....

Gee where did yesterday go? I had lots of running around to do so just didn't get on the puter much. All is fine my way. We had a bucket of rain here. Which we sure needed. I got my flu shot yesterday. Glad thats over with. Going to cook a turkey breast tonight with baked sweet potatoes and and a salad. We love the leftovers. We're eating at a restarant for Thanksgiving this year. Its the first time for us to do that. They'll be about seven of us going so this is going to be interesting. There will be a giant buffet or you can order off the menu. I'm not sure what I'll do yet and probably won't know till I get there. My Army kids are coming home for the Christmas holidays so that will be a hard time. I love to do special stuff for my Grandkids and can't wait to spoil them rotten. But need to watch my portion control and stay away from sweets. Sugar is very addictive for me. Better go plan my lunch........

Good morning ladies.......
Made it through the night with not one single piece of candy!!!!
The scales said I was down another 2 pounds this morning so I can see that all those trips to the bathroom yesterday paid off. It is raining and yucky again today so don't think I will get my walk in. Did my upperbody workout this am, so looks like it might be time to pull out the old stationary bike. I keep it in the shop during the spring and summer when I walk.
B-- Sausage, eggs and cheese.
L-- Leftover burger with cheese, and green salad.
D--Grilled chicken breast, mushrooms, green pepper and onions, 1/2 c sf jello.
Monet-- Sorry to hear you are crabby this morning........could it be gout in your toe??
Solly--I quit decorating my house a couple of years ago. Just don't get enough kids here to go through all the trouble. I gave all my stuff to a couple of my nieces, they were tickled pink. I really had some neat stuff. I love Halloween though......not the candy part, but the costume part. Being a tavern owner for years....that was my favorite holiday......we always had a costume party with a band that came in and played. It was a ball......another good one for the tavern business was St Paddy's day.......
Tech-- I started out on Protein Power, and when I get to carried away with the sugars I like to go back to it and detox. It really does help. I just have to watch myself when I start adding the fruits and whole grains back in. The whole grains really haven't been the problem, it is those darn sweets. I went sooooo very long, (almost 5 years) without them, that when I started having a few.......I went totally wild. It was like I couldn't stuff enough in my mouth at one time. Then I would feel horrible. So I figure if I leave it all alone for awhile, I might be able to control myself when it comes time to add back in the fruits and grains. We will just have to see.......
Toni-- Hello gal......Every other year at our house it a big deal for Thanksgiving. This is one of our small years. Dh likes the leftovers too much for us to go out to eat. The first couple of years that we were married, we ate over at my folks, but when we got home I had to cook a turkey and stuffing for him anyway, so I just decided to do our dinners each year. My brother and his family alternate years with her family and us, so when it is our turn then we have a large crew. This year I think it will just be the two of us, my two sons, my Mom and my Grandma. That's okay with me though, I like the small group just as much as the large.
Well, that's it for me this morning. Need to get busy doing something..........

Good afternoon all! I am new to the SB WOE and will be starting tomorrow. I have a relative who did SB a long time ago and she thought that I would like it. So here I am to give it a try. :)
I have a couple of questions (surprise, surprise!) as I go grocery shopping.
1) Is dried fruit with no added sugar legal?
2) Are baked dried veggie "chips" legal?
3) For whole wheat bread, if it is low carb as well as whole wheat can it be 2 slices for 1 starchy carb serving?
4) Are the plain old cheerios in the yellow box legal?
5) Are seasoned nuts legal (if the sugar grams are below 3)?
I'm sure I'll have more as time goes on, but I have been reading the board so as not to be extremely annoying and ask repetitive questions! :^:
Thanks in advance for your help and support!

MJ: I just finished watching Spiderman2!! Welcome to the boards...Monet is our fearless leader and I"m sure she'll pipe in on this one and correct me if I'm wrong...my answers to your questions are embedded in your quoted stuff below...
No. The GI goes through the roof when you dehydrate the fruit.
2) Are baked dried veggie "chips" legal?
I don't know what backed dried veggie chips are...BUT in the SB book, they have a recipe for baked sweet potato chips or something to that nature.
3) For whole wheat bread, if it is low carb as well as whole wheat can it be 2 slices for 1 starchy carb serving?
Hmmm...I guess I always use a sandwich made with sourdough or WW bread from the bakery as one starch...but I guess it would depend on where in the loaf it was sliced from (regarding the size). Bread has so many rules...but this is what I go by...like I stated in this paragraph, I get my bread from the bakery section of the grocery store. The stuff they make on-site. I look only at ingredients and never get anything that has the words 'white' or 'enriched' in it or anything that insinuates 'enriched'. Other than that, I'll leave this one up to the professionals
4) Are the plain old cheerios in the yellow box legal?
We've discussed this to some degree, and I think the consensus is that Cheerios are sketchy. In other words, a handful here and there won't be bad, but don't make a habit out of it.
5) Are seasoned nuts legal (if the sugar grams are below 3)?
Once again, you have to read the ingredients and look for anything that is illegal. Sugar, molasses, anything that ends in 'ose' and I'd watch the nuts as they usually come with salt and that adds water galore to the ankles!!
I'm sure I'll have more as time goes on, but I have been reading the board so as not to be extremely annoying and ask repetitive questions! :^:

MJ
By ALL MEANS...ask as many questions as you like...there are NO SUCH THINGS as STUPID QUESTIONS!! And if they are redundant, then we'll just consider it reminders for those of us that already know the answers. So, DON"T BE SHY!! And most of all...

GATOR....THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I'VE HAD IN QUITE SOME TIME!!!!
Sanders steps down, will finish season as QB coach
By DAVE HOOKER, hookerd@knews.com
October 31, 2005
Tennessee offensive coordinator Randy Sanders stepped down Monday after a third consecutive loss left the Vols in danger of their first losing season in 17 years.
Sanders, who considered resigning immediately, will stay on as quarterbacks coach for the remainder of the season. Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer said the staff would share play-calling duties for the remainder of the season.
A source within the UT football program said former UT offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe has been contacted to replace Sanders.
The Vols, ranked No. 3 in both preseason polls, are 3-4 overall and 2-4 in the SEC and unranked for the first time in three years. UT is ranked 99th in the nation in total offense and scored only 32 points in its last three games.
"I didn’t expect to be doing this," Sanders said, voice quivering, during a Monday afternoon press conference. "I’m going to miss this place, but the fact is there is a whole lot more to life than Tennessee football."
"The last few weeks have brought me to that realization."
Cutcliffe said he has not been offered a job by UT and is more concerned with Sanders, who is a close friend.
"My number one concern is for Randy the person," Cutcliffe said. "Randy is like a brother to me."
Cutcliffe was an assistant at UT from 1982-98 before leaving to accept the head-coaching position at Ole Miss. Cutcliffe was fired by Ole Miss after the 2004 season.
Cutcliffe joined Notre Dame as assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach, but underwent triple-bypass heart surgery on March 9 and resigned. He returned to Knoxville and has been doing work for various media outlets.
Sanders, 40, spent 22 years as a player and coach at UT. A former star quarterback at Morristown East High School, Sanders played at UT from 1984-88 but was never a starter. Sanders remained at UT in 1989 as a volunteer coach and gradually rose up the ranks.
When Cutcliffe left for Ole Miss, Sanders was named his replacement. Sanders’ first assignment was the Fiesta Bowl, playing a role in UT’s victory over Florida State for the national championship in 1998.
Fulmer said he was surprised by Sanders’ decision.
"Randy, in an unselfish gesture for what he feels is in the best interest of the team, has asked to step aside at the end of the season," Fulmer said.
"I’m sad that it has come to this but I also understand how volatile and demanding the world of college athletics is."
Sanders was seen in an emotional meeting with his family after UT’s loss to South Carolina 16-15 on Saturday. Sanders downplayed the significance of the public criticism as it relates to his family.
"It’s not a response to any criticism," he said. "It’s a response to what I see. I’m trying to be accountable for how we have played."
UT’s dismal offensive performance this season had made Sanders a frequent target for fan criticism. Sanders said he did not feel any pressure from the athletic department to resign.
"Coach Fulmer has been great about this," Sanders said. "It wasn’t something he approached me with. It wasn’t something that anybody else approached me with.
"I came to him with it."
Sanders said he would have actually benefited monetarily had he been fired and not resigned.
"I’m not trying to beat him to the punch," Sanders said, referring to Fulmer. "I’m not resigning to keep from getting fired."
Sanders said he didn’t know if he would have still resigned had the Vols won their two most recent games. UT fumbled three times inside their opponents’ 10-yard line against South Carolina and Alabama.
Fulmer did, however, address the question.
"If we made a few of those plays," Fulmer said, "we probably wouldn’t be having this press conference, in my opinion, but we didn’t and we are."
Sanders said he couldn’t ask his players to sacrifice their individual roles for the betterment of the team if he wasn’t willing to do the same.
"Things have gotten a little bit out of kilter this year," he said. "I don’t necessarily know that it’s all my fault but the fact is it’s my ship."
When asked if more coaching changes were possible, Fulmer would only say he was focused on the remainder of the season.
Cutcliffe has long said that he is more interested in a head coaching position than becoming an assistant. Those types of offers don’t regularly come until after the season.
UT will close practice this week as the Vols prepare No. 8 Notre Dame.
Sanders said he is focused on UT’s final four regular season games.
"I can promise you that even though I’m not going to be back doing it next year," Sanders said, "that’s not going to slow my effort and my desire to get this done."
Soon, Sanders may focus on two sports altogether different than football.
"I always said that one of these days I’m going to go fishing in the fall," he said. "I’m going to go play golf when the leaves are changing.
"Maybe it’s time. I don’t know."

Hi Ladies,
Just a quick afternoon checkin.
Gonna get dinner in and then get a workout in too. :carrot: It's about time.
This time change is really throwing me for a loop. I went to bed at 9:00 last night which is way early for me.
Teensy, The ole water wt really gets you motivated doesn't it. Now St. Paddy's Day is a holiday I can get into. All that green beer and being Irish myself.
Toni, every year we threaten to go to a restaurant. We never have done it yet. There is just too many of us. Grandkids are made to spoil. Just feed them all the sweets and there will be none for you.
MJ40, I buy the bread that is 100% ww and is 45 calories a slice. That way you get 2 pieces for 1 starchy carb. Plus I don't like a lot of bread. I think 80 calories is the rule for a starchy carb. Cheerios are whole wheat but high on the glycemic list, so Monet says not a good thing to eat. I like the South Beach crunch cereal. Welcome. This is a great board.
Tech, stay away from teh tootsie rolls. They are one of my fav's too.
Have a great evening.

Hey everyone. It was not a great afternoon at school. One of the teacher's brother was murdered last night and the school is all very effected by the news. They still don't have all the details, as there is an investigation going on.
After school, I ran by the bank before I came home. I am going to teach Laura to fix a Japanese dish the family likes tonight, so I don't have a lot of time right now.
MJ40: :wel3fc: Welcome to Sugarbusters! We are glad you joined us! I think SB is about the healthiest diet out there, and SO easy to follow! I imagine you will get lots of answers to your questions. Please feel free to ask away! The only dumb question is one you don't ask! :) It helps us all to focus when we have to think about answers for someone just starting out. Lets see, first, your question about dried fruit. Raisins are definitely no nos. I will occasionally eat a few dried apricots or prunes, but I keep in mind that one or two is a serving. They do have a higher glycemic index than the fresh fruit. Baked veggie chips...hmm, I would want to read the label very carefully. If you are talking about those baked veggies, like green beans, that are crunchy, you have to be careful. Often there is a lot of added dextrose, which is corn sugar, and doubly bad. Sweet potato chips are ok for an occasional treat, but you don't want to eat those kinds of things very often, as they are high in salt and carbs, and you can easily over do it before you know it. I use Nature's Own whole wheat bread, but there are others that are sliced thin, and smaller loaves, and two would be fine as one starchy carb serving. I honestly think everyone is better off cutting down radically on bread consumption..... make sure whatever you use is ONE HUNDRED per cent whole wheat... Plain old Cheerios are technically legal, as they are whole grain oats, and no sugar. They are unfortunately, highly processed and their GI is about 70 according to GI lists. Its probably not the best choice for cereal. There are others that are better...like shredded wheat, or 100% bran flakes. Just check the sugar content.
On the seasoned nuts, as Techwife said, check the ingredients. If there is nothing illegal in them and they are lower than 3 grams of sugar per serving, they are probably ok - in moderation! Nuts are high in fats, and SB tells you to watch your fat intake. Please feel free to ask any questions you have. We are here to help!
BOB: I tried to read the whole thing, but only skimmed the second half..
TONI: Good to see you! We need rain so bad...send it this way!
TEENSY: No, I don't think its gout, I think its an ingrown toenail. It gets worse when I wear shoes, since I am used to open toed birkenstocks.
Ok, off to change and get cooking!

BoB--Yeppers, I thought you'd be happy when I saw that article in the USAToday this morning. I could hear you yelling from here! We have Vandy at home this week (will be going up for the weekend) and then the 'Cocks  the following weekend at SC. That's the same weekend the mutts play Aubie between the hedges, at 3:30. I'm pulling for the away team both those games. Hope things will turn around for your guys. Again, I've felt that kind of disappointment you've had this year, but Gators always say, "Wait 'till next year, Gators."
MJ--Welcome to a great board. We're like a group of friends who try to chat every day with each other about SB stuff and other stuff too. We even put up with each others' idiosyncrasies, like BOB's and my addiction to SEC football. :)
I went over 10000 steps today, even though it is very gloomy and raining a steady drizzle. I worked out at a new place, in the basement of my DH's office bldg. It is 20 min. from our house, but cheaper. I am toying with the idea of going there one day a week and to the other place that is closer the second workout day of the week.
Well, my DH just called, so I'm off to make chili tonight for supper.

Thanks so much for all of the answers and support.
I think I will pass on the dried fruit. I have never really had it (other than raisins of course), so there is no need to start now. I just thought that if it was legal I might make some sort of trail mix.
I will look for other cereals. I like bran flakes so that should be good. I'll check the labels.
The nuts I will watch the ingredients. I just ordered some that just had jalapeno powder and seasonings. No corn flour like some others. I'll see how I do!
The veggie chips are from this site: www.yummydelights.com
They have a red onion chip that is just red onions, canola oil and salt. They are baked and have about 2.5g fat per serving. I have had other veggie chips like this from the farmers market before, but those had sweet potatoes and taro and pumpkin which are starchy. I also ordered some that were celery.
As you can see, I am a snack person! lol
Monet: Sorry about the teacher's brother, that is truly tragic.
Gator: I just moved to SEC territory (Baton Rouge). I am a Big Ten girl myself from Chicago (GO SOX!)
Solly: I will read labels carefully on the bread. Bread is not my weakness, so I won't stress about it too much!
Thanks so much you all!

MJ40: Where did you live in Chicago? I was born and raised in Oak Park...and still have family there, and in Berwyn. My family tends more towards the Cubs though.... I checked out that website with the snacks. Those veggie chips are probably just fine. Onions do have a higher sugar content, but I bet you can't eat a lot of them at once...it just seems like it would be overpowering. Let me know how you like them..I may have to try them. The celery ones too! :)

Couldn't resist posting this....
New Rule: Don't eat anything that's served to you out a window unless you're a seagull. People are acting all shocked that a human finger was found in a bowl of Wendy's chili. Hey, it cost less than a dollar. What did you expect it would contain?? Luckily, it was only a finger! If it was a whole hand, Congress would have voted to keep it alive.
New Rule: Stop saying that teenage boys who have sex with their hot, blonde teachers are permanently damaged. I have a better description for these kids: lucky bastiges.
New Rule: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here's how much men care about your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we're done.
New Rule: There's no such thing as flavored water. There's a whole aisle of this crap at the supermarket, water, but without that watery taste. Sorry, but flavored water is called a soft drink. You want flavored water? Pour some scotch over ice and let it melt. That's your flavored water.
New Rule: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the asshat. If you walk into a Starbucks and order a "decaf grande half-soy, half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino, extra dry, light ice, with one Sweet-n'-Low and one NutraSweet," ooh, you're a huge asshat.
New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it doesn't make you spiritual. It's right above the crack of your ***. And it translates to "beef with broccoli." The last time you did anything spiritual, you were praying to God you weren't pregnant. You're not spiritual. You're just high.
New Rule: Competitive eating isn't a sport. It's one of the seven deadly sins. ESPN recently televised the US Open of Competitive Eating, because watching those athletes at the poker table was just too damned exciting. What's next, competitive farting? Oh wait. They're already doing that. It's called "The Howard Stern Show."
New Rule: If you're going to insist on making movies based on crappy, old television shows, then you have to give everyone in the Cineplex a remote so we can see what's playing on the other screens. Let's remember the reason something was a television show in the first place is the idea wasn't good enough to be a movie.
New Rule, and this one is long overdue: No more bathroom attendants. After I zip up, some guy is offering me a towel and a mint like I just got lucky with George Michael. I can't even tell if he's supposed to be there, or just some freak with a fetish. I don't want to be on your web cam, dude. I just want to wash my hands.
New Rule: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don't need to know in months. "27 Months." "He's two," will do just fine. He's not a cheese. And I didn't really care in the first place.

Happy Wednesday !
Im killing time before work since I have to be in a hour later part of this week. Hopefully tomorrow I will be back on my normal schedule.
Ive still been crabby this week. My hormones havnt bothered me in months now so I dont know if thats it or what. Im tired and just tearied eyed for no reason at all. I hope it (whatever it is) passes soon cause I sure dont like it.
My ds is moving out ( again) next week into his own apartment. He has no furniture or dishes etc at all ( like he never thought this out to well) . Luckily my DM has alot of kitchen stuff to give him. Dh wants to sell him our couch and loveseat and get us something new. Sigh... I dont know if Im up to going to look at furniture. He is thinking of getting leather this time. Anyone have leather? I have no idea how it is. We have two dogs that sneak up on the couches now... will they damage leather?
Monet- I hope you are feeling better today .
Solly- I know, Id much rather spend my money on decorating for Christmas over Hallooween.
Tech- I am so glad I did not have any candy around. Not that I would of ate it but Dh would of. Last year I bought stuff we didnt like and he still ate what was left.
Colleen- I loved the protein power plan. I started that a year before I had started Atkins. Of course now I love the SB plan but I think over Atkins the PP has a more doable program.
Mj40- Welcome :)
I guess we are kinda neighbors...Ind here..
I tried the uncle sams Cereal today. Its pretty good. Lots of flax seeds !
Well off to work. Have a great day !

Good morning all!
Today I start a new WOE. Weighed in at 263.4 pounds. I did not have a chance to go shopping, but I didn't use that as an excuse this time! :D I went to the refrigerator and here's what I have for the workday: some grapes, some cooked cabbage (thankfully my MIL does not use potatoes in hers), a 1 oz square of 2% cheddar cheese, about 1/2 cup salsa (the best storebought brand I ever had "Just Right Salsa" from Whole Foods), and a box of triscuits (didn't have time to put in individual baggie).
Is this ok for an unprepared start?
Monet: I grew up on the southside, BUT, I coached cheerleading at OPRF for 4 years so I was a Huskie for quite a while!
BOB: I am in LSU town here in Baton Rouge. It's all about the Tigers, baby!
Talitha, Teensy, & Cindy: Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hi everyone! Wow- I could NOT get on here yesterday. NO time. Tuesdays are like that for me. Rushing the whole day till I plop my tired butt in bed at night. And when I'm too tired to even check in on my 'puter, you know I've had it. Soooo.... I'm here todaydrinkin my coffee :coffee2: and typing away. I have not even come close to touching my girls' candy. I think this is the first year I have EVER not eaten at least a couple pieces. I feel real good about that. MAJOR milestone for me. Did well again yesterday- I may have eaten a few too many starchies, but all were ww, so I think I'm ok. What does everyone count a ww bagel as? Is a whole one considered 2 servings or one? I have been eating one and counting it as one serving. It is your typical sized bagel.
MJ- :welcome2: I just started SB last week, after trying lots of other plans (and I mean lots). This makes the most sense to me both nutritionally, and for lifestyle change. I did great my first week, and I know you will too. This group of girls is great. I have enjoyed my first week "chatting" with them immensely!!!
MONET- I need that recipe for your quiche! Is it on here somewhere? (Of course I COULD look first, but I'm too lazy for that LOL). I am sorry about that teacher's brother. That must be so scary. Have they heard anything else about it yet? Any leads? Thanx for the agave info- I am definitely ordering some when I get my paycheck in. The combo pack looks good!
BOB_ LOVED the new rules! I a gonna send that one to some friends!!! Thanx for the laugh!!!
TECH- I didn't cut hair in Rochester- only Buffalo. I got my training from Continental in Batavia. My best friend lived at 700-something Latta Road. I was over there CONSTANTLY when I was young. Her house was right near the entrance to the Parkway. Feel free to PM me anytime- it is SOOOO nice to have someone in our neck of the woods!!!
SOLLY- the time change always throws me for a loop too. I am always tired at like 5 pm for a few nights cause its so dark. I'm such a creature of habit!!
GATOR- when you mentioned chili last night, it made me drool :hungry: So now I am gonna make that for dinner tonite! I know I will pay for it with my hubby though- he has a marvelous reaction to beans!!!!! :bomb:
TALITHA- I am with you on the candy. My husband's work is also the best place to "dump" any food I need to get rid of. One time I had almost an entire sheet cake left over from a party. He brought it to work and it was GONE by noon. Better THEM than us!!!!
TEENSY- Good job on another great day! WE CAN DO THIS!!!
CINDY- I have bad weeks like that too. It usually happens when I am feeling overwhelmed or do not have enough time for myself or there is too much change in my life. (I like things nice and predictable!) Can you think of something that will make you feel better? A nice night to yourself? Movie? It will pass soon. Hang in there.
OK- I need to go do some laundry. I have quite a pile forming and I am getting tired of leaping over it. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Ladies,
I made it to the gym last night and got in about 50 minutes of cardio. Treadmill, bike, and EFX machine. Tonight I plan to do wts.
Monet, how terrible about the teacher's brother. Sending prayers her way. Hope your toe is better today. Well how did the aspiring chef do last night?
Gator, Vandy could give that Gators some trouble this weekend. But I still think the Gators will come out with the "W". We've got Susan's team so it doesn't look good. or for the rest of the year.
MJ, I'm a snack person too. We have a member (currently MIA), Fruitloupe, that is a die hard LSU fan. I think 7 triscuits is a starchy carb. They are pretty good with salsa aren't they?
Talitha, gotta get the candy out of the house.
Teensy, Yes, we can do this.
Bob, you crack me up. You have waaay to much time on your hands.
Cindy, sorry you are still blue. Maybe it has something to do with your DS moving out. Feel better soon. We have leather furniture and I really like it. But we don't have a dog either.
Got to run. Have a great day.

Hey gals......Just a fly by as I haven't even had breakfast yet...... down one more pound this am, yeah!! Got my workout in and then dh started throwing a tizzy about the tomato plants still in the garden.......this rant is coming as soon as I get back on here.......see you all soon.
Teensybean

Okay girls I am back, hold on to your seats......
My dh is quite a bit older than I am, and has been retired from the Operating Engineers Union for quite awhile. He has a friend that is a diabetic and has really let himself go. This friend owns an excavation business that he tries to run. Since he is not physically able to do the work, he hires my dh.
Last spring dh tilled up the garden area just before I was ready to plant it. I did all the planting, and through the whole summer I used a hoe to keep the weeds down. I have a Mantis tiller that is small enough for me to use, but I can only start it once it has been started and run for awhile. Just don't have the strength to pull the rope for the initial start. So with no one here to start it for me, I am SOL. So I used the hoe, and kept it weeded and watered all summer. He was either working for Ray, or sitting in his recliner on days that he didn't work, because of his back.
When I got ready to go on my trip with Mom, (October 7) it was starting to get nippy, and we had a few nights of frost. I pulled up all the cuccumber plants, squash plants, and dug the rest of the beets. We kept the tomatoes covered to prevent them from freezing. There were alot of tomatoes, but most of them green since we had had a wet and cold summer. While I was gone we had talked on the phone and I asked him if he had taken care of the tomatoes or if they were still doing okay. He said they were ripening still and that we should get alot more. So I assumed that they were still producing. Since I have been home I see that they are ripening very very slowly.......I think that there just isn't enough heat left to ripen them.
This morning he starts in on me about the waste of all the tomatoes on the plants....."rotting on the vine" was the term he used. They aren't rotting on the vines.....they are not ripe enough to be rotting......they just aren't doing anything.......So his rant was that next year I could just take care of the whole thing. And off he stormed to "go preview a truck that will be in an auction tomorrow for Ray" Excuse me?? I took care of the whole thing this year!!
Now mind you, I don't mind taking care of the garden. I love being out there, and love the fresh veggies. I do alot of canning, so it is worth it. But I don't like the fact that I have become the work horse around here while he is off galavanting all over the country "for Ray". If we needed the money, and he had to work, it would be a different story, but this is just for his own spending. I don't see any of it, and all of the chores around here are left undone, or I do them. He hasn't even gone into town and got any wood pellets for us yet.........
Enough ranting......
B-- sausage, LIte 85 yogurt
L--????
Dinner--Leftover salmon, salad with bleu cheese, cauliflower. 1/2 c sf jello.
Cindy-- Don't you just hate those moody blue days. Just before I left for Utah with my Mom I was having hot flashes that were making me physically sick. I would get so hot, I felt that I was going to vomit or pass out. Almost cancelled going because of them.......not one hot flash on our trip, and only one since I have been home. Hope whatever it is passes, I know that you don't like feeling out of sorts.
Solly-- Nice workout......I am debating on joining Curves. They opened one up in Deer Park, which is only 19 miles away as compared to Spokane which is 30 miles away. Just thinking that maybe I need more than I am doing, or that what I am doing isn't right. Just a thought anyway.
Muncher--Good job!! I too was able to resist the temptation of the candy........it is still sitting on the dining room table.
Monet-- Have a great day!!
BOB--
Gator--
And a  to anyone else I missed!!

Munch... I think thats exactly it. My life has been turned upside down. Im training for a new postion at work so that is totally messed up right now and my hours have been screwy and then Ive been rushing home and also taking new classes at the gym and a few other things thrown in there out of the norm. Im like you I like my routine. That gives me hope if thats it then maybe I can get back to normal soon and feel better :)

Teensy, you posted your menu, is DH having humble pie or is he not getting any at all?

Cindy. Keep thinking happy thoughts. If that doesn't work, start drinking :hat:

SOLLY: :lol3: Humble pie and drinking!
CINDY: Hey, I drink on Wednesday nights to try and get over the stress of school...feel free to join me! :lol3: Two glasses of wine is about all it takes, and I am about totally shnockered! Its amazing I can still type! ;)
TEENSY: I don't blame you for being irritated. Men can be SO clueless sometimes! I get irritated with mine when he is rather demanding...I make him smoothies, lunches, dinner, and he can complain with the best of them! When we were first married, I used to get coffee in bed in the morning...its been ages since that happened any morning other than a weekend! :( I flat out refuse to do anything on Wednesdays...when I was working at the grocery store, he did everything for himself. Now I am working at the school and he wants me to do everything...
MJ40: Hooray for Oak Park! Hooray for Oak Park! When were you there? My nephews were there in the past five years... I never was a cheerleader, but my sister was. She made the Huskie costume they used when we were there...many years ago! It was made of an off white mohair kind of material.... My high school career included editor of the Tabula... Where on the south side did you live? My mother grew up in Lawndale...I don't remember going there, though I am sure we did when I was young.

Hey all--
Just a quick post before my evening show......Law and Order. One more day of on plan eating.....have had the small nagging sugar withdrawal headache for the last couple of days, so am sure that I needed to detox.
Lots to do tomorrow. Have to run to town and pick up Jo's prescription. The vet didn't think she would need the refill he gave me, but she is on her 5th month of medication. She is a tough old gal, and still just as sweet as ever. Also need dogfood and Buddy's joint meds. Rosauers is having their bake sale tomorrow too, all the stuff I need to make my Christmas treats for the goodie bags that I do. Lord, give me strength this year!!
Eating lots of protein has kept me full, so I really haven't had a cravings for anything sweet. I just hope I can keep it up once I start baking. Picked all the apples this afternoon and just stored them in the fruit room. Will have to get some more pie plates as I have all of mine (3) in the freezer with sf/ww blackberry pies in them.
Lunch ended up being hot wings and salad with bleu cheese dressing.
Solly-- LOL, actually he wasn't hungry at dinner and just ate a bowl of cereal.....normally he eats whatever I fix him......his lunch was hot wings with french fries. (Probably why he wasn't hungry at dinner time!!)
Monet-- When I was down in Elko the first weekend, we all went out to a casino, I had 4 glasses of wine and was so sick the next day that I thought I would die. So the next time we went, I only had two, and got the same results. I have really turned into a light weight. Back when we had the tavern, I could drink with the best of them. Not anymore........
MJ-- How did your first day go?? I am sure you did great!!
See you all in the morning........

Good morning. I have the day's Menu planned. Today will be my fisrt OP day. I am determined to get sugar out of my system.
Breakfast- Spinach ommlette w/ goat cheese
Lunch- Chicken Salad on field greens
Dinner- Chicken breast and Steamed Veggies
For snacks I have cheese sticks, almonds, apples and oranges. I am going to try to take the "leptin' approach and not do snacks. Becuase of my hyperglycemia, I may need to eat in between but will keep it to a minimum.
SUGAR QUESTION- I know that Steviia is safe as a sweetner. What about fructose? And am I ok to eat 1 piece of fruit a day?
I'm holding off on starchy carbs for the first few days just to get going. I'll add them back in when I feel ready.
Trav took all of the candy to work yesterday. Whew!! That was close. Only problem, he didn't leave ANY for Selah. Yesterday she was walking around saying, 'where my candy go?'
I took my 3rd test in my Nutrition program. 100% again!!! I'm pretty excited about it. The first 2 chapters/tests were very elementary. I'm happy to be moving on to the bigger stuff. I can't believe that I am doing it right now when life is so crazy. I'm enjoying using it as my break from babies and Arbonne. And it is still productive. I love it!
Teensy/Monet- Travis calls me a cheap date becasue I never drink more than one drink. I used to be able to pack it away. I think the long time of not drinking in the past three years ( due to 2 pregnancies and breastfeeding) have 'lowered my defenses ;) I'd rather not drink that much anyway. I love that I can do with just one or 2 now.
MUNCH- You're awesome for not touching the candy!!!
MJ- you're doing great. I'm starting over today, so we're even. :)
Cindy- I love Uncle Sam's cereal. So does Selah :)
BOB- I love the rules!!! You're great!
Gator- Hola!
Solly- Hi!
Off to the Y....

Good Morning! I just finished my strawberry smoothie made with frozen strawberries, water, and a squirt of agave! Now I am on my first cup of coffee with half and half....
Ok, so I got on the scale this morning, and was pleased to see it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I think by Monday, with diligence, I may be back to where I was. Its that close! So, I will be off for a walk in a little bit. Then I need to head over to the school and do some prep work for Saturday's open house.
TALITHA: Fructose in fruit is ok. You don't want to eat a LOT of fruit but several servings a day is ok. If you find you stall, then cut down on it. Powdered fructose is NOT good. In fruit, you digest it ok, but alone, it taxes the liver and can be converted into fat easily. We used to use it a lot, then quit after reading Mastering Leptin. Actually, Tom used it a lot, and now he doesn't. I use agave, which for some reason, seems to work better, and doesn't cause the Glycemic overload that fructose seems to cause. Poor Selah! She probably is thinking she dreamed up that candy!
TEENSY: I found glass pie plates at Wally world 2 for $5. I got four. (I used to have a bunch of pie plates and they have disappeared. I need to check my son in law's kitchen! :) ) Now I am set, I think. I bought them to make quiche for breakfast, then I cut them up and wrap each piece in plastic to freeze. I much prefer purchasing the ww pie crusts from Whole Foods to making them...but I think I am going to have to make them. They have been out of the frozen ones lately. Also, since I don't eat wheat much, I want to try spelt flour and see how it works. Supposedly its ok, but I am not too sure.

Good morning ladies.
I made it to the gym again last night. Not quite as long as I would like, but we got in lots of wt machines. They have quite afew machines. Figuring them out is a challenge for me.
Won't be able to get back there until Saturday now.
BF was 2 eggs.
Lunch turkey sandwich, apple
Dinner???
Monet, the more we do for those men, the more they expect. We spoil them way too much. Glad the scale was nice to you today.
Teensy, you are doing great. Keep up the good work.
Talitha, congrats on your test. You are doing great. Good job getting rid of that candy. Give Selah some other kind of treat.
Got to run. Have a great day.

Finally a day to myself.... Been running lots this week. I was disappointed this morning to find out the woman that helps with the cleaning is still sick. Being disabled is the pits sometimes! But I did clean the pantry. It didn't take long to get some old stuff out and it back in shape. L- turkey sandwich and then tonight is leftover beans. Will be glad to grocery shop tomorrow and get stuff to make a soup with. Better get busy and do some laundry. Welcome MJ!

Hello ladies....
Just a fly by as I am on my way out. Just wanted to get here to keep myself in the habit. I don't want to be MIA again. Was down one more pound this morning.....thats 5 this week. I sure hope that next week will show a decrease too and that water is not all I am losing. I have had almost 2 full weeks of vigorous workouts. I have increased the resistance, and add more to each set. Guess time will tell. I will be back later to get in responses........have a great day all!!

Afternoon everyone! I never got my walk in. I went straight to the school and worked my tail off. I hung up all the crayon resist pictures from five weeks ago and then washed out all the old watercolor boxes and replaced the old paints with new ones. I had help from two of the fifth grade boys for a while. All the students...even the one who tend to be terrors...are all very nice. The two boys helping me are not my easiest students...so it was great to see them in another light. :) The walls look nice now, with all the pictures up.
I have a bizillion errands I ought to be running - especially since the next two days are filled with things I have to do..like sub at school, and the open house on Saturday. I was thinking of getting my hair cut, but can't decide how short. I need to run to Costco, but I think I will take a nap first! I am that tired! I just drank a cup of coffee in hopes it would help wake me up some, but so far its not working.
I just got in from a massage. AH! Two of the little cats followed me over to my massage therapists...down about five or six houses. I kept taking them back and putting them back in my yard, but they would climb the fence and follow me. I gave up, and they were very confused when I went into the house and they were not allowed to follow. When I came back out, I called for them and they came running out from under her front deck. Stupid cats! I carried one home and the other followed. Next time, I am throwing them in the house before I leave!
Lunch was at school: Two chicken thighs, rice and peas. Dinner tonight was a hot dog (Mavarik no filler all beef) and some baked beans. Its been a crazy night...we are going to have to leave in a bit to try and get Tom's vehicle to the shop. It has a hole in one of the coolant hoses, and overheats ever few miles. He can't reach the hole with duct tape, so its a pain to get it moved very far. :(
 I will check in later!

Good evening..... Aggravating night at work. Grrrrr. Sometimes people can be sooo irritating!!! I teach aerobics and yoga at a womens fitness center. I LOVE my job, but sometimes those women can be ridiculous. I bust my butt in class, and make sure I motivate them, make them laugh, mention them all by name at least once, go up to everyone before class and after to make sure they're ok etc etc. (Mind you- there are 25 women in there on an average night). And still there are some who are never happy, no matter what you do. I will not bore you all with the details, but suffice it to say that I got in a vigorous workout myself working out them getting on my nerves :tantrum: !!!!
OK. Thanx for letting me rant. I feel better now :D
I did good on plan today, and yesterday wasn't too bad. I snacked alot last night- nothing "illegal", but probably too much munching (hey- I'm living up to my name!!!) I felt kind of sluggish today, I think I'm coming down with a chest cold thingy. Yuck. Oh well- at least I have off till Tuesday.
CINDY- I am so glad that I may have helped a tiny bit. I speak so much from experience- I am a self-proclaimed perfectionist who doesn't like change very much and I struggle with anxiety surrounding all that! It sounds like you are going thru a ton of things that you probably feel you can't control (you mentioned your son moving out too?) That is so hard! Be kind to yourself and just know that things will eventually settle down and you will "develop" a new routine out of the new things that are going on. They say it takes like 2 months for a new "habit" to be formed- I find about the same timing in getting used to new schedules, jobs, routines etc. I am just now getting used to the 2.5 hours of driving I have to do shuffling my kids sround everyday!!! :dizzy: Let me know if there's anything else I can do... I know a few bad jokes.......
MONET- I have been letting my hair grow for awhile and have been tempted lately to cut it very short (I used to have it that way for years). Didja get it cut yet? Whats the verdict? Ya know, maybe those little kitties wanted a massage too... ;)
SOLLY- Glad you were able to make it to the gym- wow -lots of new machines! How cool! Yeah- I don't think I would be able to figure them out either- they have such new fangled stuff out now!!
TALITHA- Sounds like you did AWESOME today!! Woohoo!
TONI- a day to yourself how nice (sigh). Sorry about the cleaning person!
TEENSI- wow- you're a fat burnin' machine!!! Great job!
MJ- hope your day went great today
BOB- that was fun- I had my speakers up waaaaayyy too loud and I scared myself half to death as well. (My hubby thought I was entertaining though)
TECH- HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEIGHBOR!!!
OK- If I forgot anyone, please forgive me. I have freqquent attacks of brain farting on occasion :sorry:
Have a great night. My kitchen is now closed. See you in the AM if I can.

BOB--It didn't do anything on my computer either and I tried it on Safari and IE browsers. I got the sound but nothing did anything. Do you need me to translate the French. It was about Valentine's day.
BTW, Did you know that they "retired" Peyton's jersey at half time at the UT-USC game and that Clausen had to change jerseys then because he had been wearing the same number that Peyton had. Bad karma, maybe. They should have waited until after the game to make him change.
Nothing much happening here. Eating not good. We're going up to Gainesville tomorrow.

I am about to crawl into bed. We got the vehicle to the repair place with NO problems! Amazing for us! We have bad Car-ma according to FILLISE! :)
MUNCH: Its best if you can avoid eating after dinner, and finish your evening meal three hours before bed. I don't snack, but if you do, you ought to do your snacking in the afternoon, and NOT after dinner ever! :) It helps you go into fat burning mode while you sleep to go to bed with an almost empty, or empty stomach.
I am going to school first thing, and carrying some knitting in case I get bored, since I don't have to be there until later. They do have a potter coming and I want to see him work. (I am a potter...got my degree in it) I promise not to be a know it all! :)
Sweet dreams everyone! I will check in when I get home.

GATOR...they didn't make him change, PEYTON wanted him to wear the jersey until the end of the game but CLAUSEN said he didn't feel right wearing it after the # had been retired. I think he jinxed the game right then and there!
We're playing THE POPES BOYS on Saturday...this should prove interesting!

Hi guys. Well, I feel like absolute crap. I woke up today with a horrible cold. I feel better now after some DayQuil and a long, hot shower. DH took Kyle to preschool for me and I have to go dry my hair now and go get him. I've gotten a few cute presents today and my DH is plannign on taking me/us out to dinner. I'm goign to shoot for Red Lobster so I can get a plate full of crab legs. My kids would get all riled up watching me eat them, I can see it now. But, I'll take Friendly's too. I'm thinking of getting DD out of school instead of waiting for the bus to bring her home and take her and Kyle to see Chicken Little and then have my DH meet us at the mall. He wants to also take me to Victoria's Secret to get me my annual stash of underwear. It's one of his pet peeves with me is I hate to spend money on underwear...I'd rather get groceries with it or spend it on the kids. So, by October or so, my underwear inventory is getting pretty shabby and if he doesn't like a pair that is particularly shabby, he sabotages them and cuts out the crotch so I can't wear them anymore and pleads with me to buy new underwear...so on my birthday, he takes me to VS to buy new underwear. It's just one of those things.
So, anyhow...thanks for remembering my birthday. I didn't make my ultimate goal of getting into a size 10 by my birthday, but I HAVE lost 20 pounds since my last birthday...the one where I was bauling in Old Navy because of the weight I'd gained. So, that's the positive side. I still haven't had my annual cry, either. I usually get depressed on my birthday and have to have a good cry, but I'm fine this year, even though I'm FORTY! It's really no big deal.
Okay..off to dry my hair...will try to do replies later, if not after the weekend.
Have a great day, everyone!!:carrot:

Well, Rachel has been running a fever off and on since Sunday, so I broke down and took her to the doctor yesterday. Turns out she has an ear infection! :^: She woke up complaining of a severe headache, and she just doesn't have them like Sean does. She has her fall performance tonight and tomorrow night for dance, with dress rehearsal last night, so I needed to get to the bottom of it. Apparently her allergies have started up and cause fliud to build in her ears which is now getting infected. She has had so much trouble with her ears over the years that I guess they have to be REALLY bad for her to complain. She is now on an antibiotic and numbing eardrops so she can shake her booty this weekend! :carrot: My parents are coming up for the Saturday show, and will spend the night with us. So we have a busy time ahead of us. One of her dances is a hip-hop dance to a "funky" version of Joy to the World. My hubby and I can't wait to see this  Have no idea what it sounds like! I'll let you know!

Good morning SBer's---
It's Friday!! Got all five day of exercise in......that is two weeks in a row, yeah!! My choices yesterday weren't the greatest......
B-- Pria low carb bar I found in my purse......forgot to eat before I left the house.
L-- 2 pepperoni sticks in the car driving home.......it was storming very hard and just wanted to get home.
D-- Ham, baked sweet potato, spaghetti squash. 1/2 c sf jello.
I also had a serving (4) of sugar free orange slices from Russell Stover.......boy did I pay for that. I am definitely cleaned out!!!
Today is starting out much better.....
B-- 2 eggs scrambled with cheese, Lite 85 yogurt.
L-- Leftover hot wings, coleslaw.
D-- Leftover ham, spaghetti squash, coleslaw. 1/2 c sf Jello.
Well, I think it is starting to happen with my baby girl, Jo......she is starting to have problems going to the bathroom. She try's and try's, but isn't able to produce much. The tumor is closing off her poor little rectum. She still has a good appetite, but is sleeping more and more. Think I will have to make a decision soon......I don't want her to suffer anymore than she has to. It was a year ago in April that we lost our other Bassethound, Bazal......this is so not fair!!
Tech-- Happy birthday, and many more!!
Solly--Even if it is just water weight......5 pounds is 5 pounds!! Hopefully the fat will start coming off now. Can't believe how miserable I feel with this added pounds. How the heck did I pack around 100 extra pounds??? Enjoy your weekend, even if it is just domestics, atleast you are home!!
Thin-- Sorry Rachael is not feeling up to par. The show sounds super, let us know how it turns out.
Monet-- Did you get a new job while I was gone?? Must be at a school??
Well, ladies......I need to go get something done.....have a lot of cleaning to do today!!

:gift: Happy Birthday Kris :twirly:
Well the week is over. All I can say is it has to improve from here out.
I did not lose anything this week...or last week. Even with the extra aerobic classes at the gym. Im either in a stall or that dreaded thing called stress has got me in its clutches. But Im staying strong with eating right and will not stray from the path and hope this passes soon. My wedding ring is way looser than its ever been so I was surprised not to see a loss. Maybe next week will be a extra awesome one ;) I think my body is shocked Im this low. Its been many many years since Ive been this weight and its fighting with me tooth and nail to stay there !
Anyways... we are heading out tomorrow to look at couches. The ones we have are only 5 yrs old but I just hate them. They have the loose pillows on the back and I swear I will never get another couch where the back cushion is not attached. My ds is going to buy this set from us so Im hoping we can find something without going to every store in town( like we did last time we bought).
We are heading to my moms for dinner after we are done with that. So we will probably spend the evening with her.
Kris- Hope you birthday day was awesome. So far Ive loved the forties!
Bob- funny skeleton
Monet- Those cats sound really silly. I wish I could have your strength and not eat after dinner but during the week we have to eat around 3:30-4 so DH gets dinner before he leaves for work so by7-8 Im ready to eat again! Ive been trying to just have fruit or triscuits or a sf fudgesicle. But at times I find myself nibbling on almonds or walnuts or a couple slices of turkey. Maybe what I should do is just make myself a protein shake around 6 and see if thats does me until 9 when I go to bed.
Munch- How cool you teach aerobics. I just started taking classes a couple weeks ago and have never sweated so much in my life. Thank you again for your words of advice. Thats what I keep telling myself ..things will settle down. I just have to wait it out.
Thin- Boy I remember those years with my dd and her ear infections. They were so painful. Id feel so sorry for her.
Colleen- Im so sorry about your baby girl Jo... I know that is a hard hard decision to make. (((hugs))) for you .
Well, its off to bed for this girl. Night all.

Whew...what a day! I did a bunch of odd jobs to prepare for the open house tomorrow. I hung more pictures, proof read some forms for the head mistress, and subbed for the second grade while the teacher went to the funeral for one of our teacher's brother who was murdered. After school, I ran to Costco with my neighbor, who was also subbing, and her daughter. Then I brought her daughter home with me, and she and I drew for a while, then she chased my cats for a while before her dad called her home. I took Tom over to get his vehicle ($175 to replace three hoses! Yikes, that is high!) I ran a few boxes over to my neighbor tonight and chatted with her on the driveway. We will ride together in the morning, and stop for breakfast on the way. I am pretty beat.
TEENSY: Yes! I did get a new job while you were away. I teach art at a small private school near me on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I also sub some for other teachers there. Its about my dream job, and I just love the kids. I have kindergarten through seventh grade. Next year, the school will add an eighth grade, and hopefully my job hours will increase! I am so sorry there is nothing they can do for your dog. Its so hard to have to make those kinds of decisions. BIG hug....
THIN: Wow.. I hope the antibiodics work fast! Poor Rachel! I hate getting ear infections.
TECH: I hope your birthday was wonderful! How funny of your hubby to sabotage your undies. Mine never even notices!

CINDY: We were posting at the same time... I bet its stress! It totally can screw up your metabolic system. Hang in there...it will get better! I think your idea of a shake at 6 is fine...or plan a light supper for 7, and go to bed at 10. You want to try and have three hours from meal to bedtime... Good luck couch shopping! Sounds like fun!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes for Rachel! :smug: Last night's show was AWESOME! and she seemed to feel OK. :carrot: She did not tell me that the hip-hop dance that she is doing with her group ,junior company, is with the senior company as well. She asked me "why does it matter?" She's such a laid back girl (most of the time!) I guess I'm just impressed, as a mother, to see her on stage with the high schoolers. She is also doing a ballet dance and a tap. :carrot:
We're meeting my parents and one of my sisters for lunch at O'Charley's. Then Mom and Dad will be back here for the afternoon and to the show tonight. They will head back home tomorrow. I'll see you guys later! Need to get some cleaning done!
Not that I'm to excited about what's going on with my TEAM :dizzy:

TENNESSEE VS THE POPE'S BOYS!!! (there's just no hope with you've got Heaven and Earth against your team!!)

Its been a long day. Open house this morning went well. I talked to a lot of parents looking at the school. There were so many seriously considering, and that applied already that they are thinking they may have to really increase the school size. Fine by me! Most of today's kids were young...going into kindergarten or first grade. They said the January open house tends to draw more of the upper grades, so we shall see.
After the open house my neighbor and I went to Hobby Lobby where we got yarn...( what else?? :) ) Then I chilled for a while before Tom and I headed out to dinner at the Vietnamese place and then to the package store for adult beverages. I found a few Sauvignon Blancs to try and got a cheap bottle of Lambrusco to reminisce with. :) On to Target for deodorant, razor blades, toilet paper, etc. Too bad the wine is not cold...I may have to open the bottle of port I got to try! :)
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Good evening- just a quick check in before I sit down and watch a movie with hubby. I may not stay awake, but I'll try!! Well, I returned the SB book to the library and bought my own copy! Its the "new" one. My very own.
ALSO (and this is a MAJOR miracle) my mom is doing it with me!!!! Now to see its a miracle, you have to know a bit about her. She is only 65, is very overweight, has diabetes (w/insulin injections), very high blood pressure, has had 2 strokes, a quadruple bypass, ovarian cancer (hysterectomy too- stage 1 thank God), just to name some of it!! She does not exercise or eat well at all- and I have begged, stomped my feet, whined, cried, threatened, you name it, to get her to take care of herself. Even after her bypass surgery, she only ate well and went for walks for 2 months- then forgot how horrible the whole thing was and went back to her old ways. SOOOOOO- I just matter of factly told her about SB, and I must've caught her on a great day because she asked for me to send her some info, and she started it 2 days ago. Already, she said her sugar is WAY down, she feels great, and even sounds better on the phone (I have gotten so I can tell her sugar or BP is high just from the sound of her voice). I am so thrilled! Now, I am not getting my hopes up, but really, this is the FIRST time she has ever tried to take care of her health. So I am gonna stick with it for HER sake including my own!!!
I am getting nervous about Monday weigh in. I know I stuck to all legal foods this week, but I also know I did a bit too much snacking. My second week on anything is always the hardest and scariest for me. Sooo, I hope it shows a loss! A little one would even be ok!! :goodscale
Well, I better go watch that movie b4 it gets too late!!! I'll post more tomorrow.

Hello my long lost friends!!
Gosh I don't think I've posted since the beginning of the summer! That is just terrible! I hope all of you are doing good. Not much has changed here - I'm still fat! HAHA! I just can't seem to motivate myself - imagine that!
I've got some more news on my end - about a month ago we got another foster child - she is a 4 month old little girl. BOB & SOLLY- don't fuss - I know I didn't e-mail you about her!! I stink! I was waiting until I finished a roll of film so I could send pics along with my e-mail. We are really hoping that this one works out for us and we get to adopt her. The story behind her coming into foster care is a sad one - so hopefully the "system" does the right thing in the end.
Well, I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that I was thinking about you. I want to start back with the plan and I hope to be able to get back on track soon. We just find ourselves eating things that are quick and fattening right now - we are trying to get ourselves into a routine with this baby. We just need to get into a healthier routine!!
SOLLY: email me please - I don't have your e-mail address anymore - I got a new computer and I couldn't transfer any of my addresses. Thanks!!
I'll check back soon!! I MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH!! Hello to all of you that I don't know YET!!

Well, we're back from a very active weekend in Gainesville.
BOB--You definitely were right about the Commodores. They just about beat the non-mighty Gators. In fact, I just KNEW they were gonna win when it went into overtime. They scored 2 (count'em--TWO touchdowns) in the last 4 minutes. Their QB was awesome, and I'm surprised they haven't won more games than they have. It was an exciting game to watch, but I actually prefer the kind where we are leading 50-0 at the half!!! If we can have that much trouble with Vandy, with a regular type coach, I dread thinking about what is gonna happen next week at USC against the offensive genius. I see an "L" in the Gator's future.
TECH--so sorry I missed your BDay. Congratulations, gal. My DH says turning 40 is better than the alternative! :)
Monet--I'm still knitting the baby blanket that I started 10 years ago and put away for who knows why. I have gotten a lot done lately. I have all the way up to the crotch on the teddy bear in the middle of the blanket. That leaves about 2/3 of the bear pattern to do, and then just finishing up the top with the red and cream checkerboard pattern. With the various colors I'm having to carry a lot of bobbins, and so have to stay seated on the couch where I can spread all the balls of yarn out so they don't get too tangled. This is definitely not something that I can carry with me.
Fruit--It's good to see you. We did not go to the LSU game this year because of Katrina. Some friends of ours went and said that they were hassled so badly by the LSU fans that they would never go back to Red Stick again. This couple are about 45 yrs. old., quiet and unassuming. They said they wore their Gator T-shirts as they walked from their car on the way to the stadium. They said people got right up in their face and screamed "F you" and "you better take off that shirt" etc. They said it was frightening and that most of the people were older than students. Our friends said that out of 100 people, perhaps 1 person was nice to them. We never had trouble like that, but have always been with at least one other couple. We were hoping these friends would go with us in 2 years, but they definitely won't go back. Sad.
Teensy--Way to go on your week. Keep up the good work and you'll be back down in no time.
Cindy--You amaze me with your perseverence and your busy life. Your boss is lucky to have you working for him/her. No wonder they gave you a promotion.
BOB--The dawgs had a rest week so they can prepare to beat Aubie. Hope Fillise's team steps it up and takes it to them in Athens. SOS's team beat the Razorbacks. :(
I'm not sure how much I'm dreading hopping on the MM tomorrow. Eating out on big football weekends is difficult to stay "legal." We're going to Charleston this coming week, leaving on Thursday and not coming back until Monday. And there's a ton of yummy food in that part of the woods. :)
Thanks again, Monet, for starting the board every week. You do us all a favor and contribute heart and soul to our group. :balloons:

One more thing for BOB--We watched the UT game up until we had to leave for the Gator game. It is amazing how much UT reminds me of the Gators. We were rootin' for y'all but guess we just did not yell loud enough. I was hoping you all could do better when they tied it up at 21-21. Good luck on your next 3 games.

Gator- glad to see you back.
Just a quick pop in here. Its a gloomy, cold , windy day . A good day to stay inside. I havnt gotton much done today but laundry and cooking a early dinner now so maybe I will get some other things done here later this afternoon.
We found some couches yesterday. A bit more than I wanted to spend but doesnt that always happen. I would show you them but I dont think we are supposed to use links here on the board??
Anyway we did get leather and they are beautiful and comfortable so I hope we like them once we get them here and use them for a while ( Ive never had leather before, except in my car) We have to wait 10 days for them to come in.
Thats about all the news I have for the weekend. Getting myself back in gear for the coming week. Have a wonderful Sunday eve and Hope noone was affected by the tornado that hit in Ind/Ky.

Hey, guys! Man, it's been 10 days since I last got on the computer. Ya know, this year has really been hard for me to try and stay on track with my eating. And since working, my exercise has been getting less and less. In fact, this week I've only worked out 1 time! But I got all my winter clothes out from last year and all my pants are tight, and I'm refusing to buy anymore. I'm at 165, hoping to see 164 tomorrow. But this time last year I was at 159-160 and looking and feeling better. A few pounds makes a difference. So I'm bound and determined to get things back in order. When I get off the computer I plan on doing 30 minutes aerobics(mainly step) and then 30 minutes strength training(lunges, squats, various leg exercises, weights, abs). I used to complain about not seeing the results when I exercised before(about 7 workouts a week), but boy, skip some workouts and you definetly notice a difference from NOT working out. I feel and look flabbier and my endurance took a nose dive. So right now I'm too focused on getting back to my previous weight and working on a decent exercise routine to let the holidays affect me. I know I'll indulge on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas dinner, but they key for me is to not go hog-wild from Thanksgiving UNTIL New Year's. That's when it hurts. I did good today, even went out to eat at Barnhill's for lunch with friends after church. I ate 2 plates but it was a small grilled breast, 1 slice roast, lots of greens, cabbage, green beans, and some blackeye peas. So I did good considering. Tonight will be leftover spaghetti(no noodles), and lots of salad. Oh yea, someone mentioned about starches. I always count 15 g(carbs)as 1 starch. I have ate the Nature's Own Wheat n' Fiber(low carb)for the past year and love it because I can actually eat 2 slices of bread on my sandwich and it's only 1 starch. TEENSY- You'll get it back off. Those workouts and legal eating will pay off in no time. I don't have time for anymore replies, sorry. Gotta run!

GATOR: I was wondering if you made the trip here. Unfortunately, the fans here are rude and terribly obnoxious! I have friends that I work with that are TN fans. They went to the game here and had the same thing happen to them - they were scared. It's really sad that people have to be that way. It's really sad because they give all of us a bad name.
Talk to you soon!

BOB--I saw this posted on a Gator board I frequent. Is this true?
"I understand some significant UT boosters met with the AD last night to figure out a coaching change. I'll miss Phil. "
