The object of this thread is to take on at least one challenge related to your weight loss goals for 7 days straight. Choose whatever inspires you - a certain amount of water intake, no sugar, 30 minute walks, etc.
I will award accolades for each day you maintain your goal(s), and 7 day winner awards and pounds down at the end of the week. We will begin each challenge on Monday - you can choose a new challenge or repeat any challenge for extra mileage. If you would like to stretch yourself, take on more than one challenge.
We will support each other keeping in mind to stay focussed on our successes and/or challenges of the day and week related to our weight loss. There are plenty of threads where a lot of time is spent on personal stories, so let's try to keep that to a minimum.
All that we have is right now.
Yesterday is gone, Tomorrow is not promised, and Someday is not a day of the week!

Hi! :wave:Everybody, Hope everything is well and good with everyone. I could not post many times at challenge no 17 and I dont know what happened between mscat816 and whoever but mscat816 you are really nice person please carry on your work of motivating us and carrying on the thread important thing is to respect eachother feelings here if I have hurt anybodys feelings I am truly sorry I really want to be here I get lot of motivation and feel accountability here.
my weeks goals of exs are met I am happy about that but I also put on a pound I was not careful in snacking.........
my weekly gain is a pound but this week I will try to loose 2 pounds........
I had to think about this week's challenge for a little while. I have decided that this week I will do my push-ups every day and also get at least 30 minutes of activity every day.
Also, no Halloween candy! I have already decided to work late next monday, because if i am at home, i will feel compelled to have candy for the neighborhood kids, which i will then eat  So if i'm not at home, i won't feel bad about not having candy for them!

I read your post about the tiff, and I must say I found the attack on you quite distressing and unmerited, as you know. Let's hope that's the end of it, and if anyone else has an issue with the quality of the welcome they're getting they deal with it privately and directly and not through pity-posts on another thread. (Oops. Breaking my own rule there...) Anyway, I think you know how much I value your warm and inclusive thread.
So then why haven't I been posting or challenging or doing much of anything but lying around stuffing my face? I guess I've just been in a funk, and I'm trying to climb out. I do lurk (a lot), but of course that doesn't contribute anything. I'm not down for the count yet. As an excuse, my sore nose is getting a little old, but it does still bother me, with stitches half in-half out, and scabs deep inside, and worst of all, a left nostril that still seems blocked despite it all. Grrrr. I've also been dealing with the resurfacing of post-divorce stress and all the self-doubt and insecurity that involved. Not to mention constant carb cravings. I'll be back home tonight, and really do plan to be back on track starting tomorrow. This week's challenge, starting tomorrow: no more pity-parties, and no more (sniff) wine.
10-24-2005, 06:05 PM
As you well know, I think you have done a great job of managing this thread, and anyone who reads all the posts involved with the "tiff" would immediately see that you have done nothing to offend anyone, and have only tried to encourage and help those of us on this weight-loss journey together. :balloons: and :flow1: to you! Thanks for all your help ..... :)
I am ON BOARD with the Challenge for this week, and mine is to exercise every day in some way, and NO WINE! I walked 50 minutes this morning, and will do a 45 min. water class tonight.
How is everyone doing with their weight-loss? (Since that is the bottom-line for all of us, I'd guess! :^: ) To summarize my journey, I went from 234 to 189 over a period of one year; but since mid-June, I have gained about ten pounds back, and am battling to re-lose that, then lose the next 30 or so!!! What's happening with you guys in that department???
Carla, so good to see you back. I knew you were around somewhere! Fishwoman, congrats on that bar exam! Wonderful ... :flow2: Sandybhat, hope you will have a great week!
Off to water class! Have a good evening, all! :)
10-24-2005, 08:44 PM
yay I get to join in this week! ok lets see.. my goal will be at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, stick to my meal plan everyday and drink at least 5 bottles of water a day.
Today I stuck to my meal plan and I even avoided the halloween candy.. Trick or treat is Wednesday and I can't wait to get rid of it! LOL
I did 30 minutes of activity today. My husband and I had to fix our roof so we had to lug the ladder and I was running around like a mad man getting things for him. I think I worked more then I would in normal workout lol
And as for water.. I've had 6 bottles today so I am definitely clear with that challenge! :) YAY!!
I really hope this is a good week for all of us! Good luck girls!
10-24-2005, 11:19 PM
It's Monday and time for us to state our new challenges for the week if you have not already. I am exercising a min. of 5 days a week, drink 64 oz of water a day and track my points daily on WW. Working on tracking and I have had 32 oz of water thus far.
TamLynne - great goals this week!
Bonnie :welcome: back - and thanks for your kind words of support. You know how much I appreciate you on this thread. I am stuck on the same plateau as I was when I started this thread - it seems as though I keep gaining and losing the same 7 lbs. The lowest I have been since I started with 3fc is 219. It seems so far away but I know it is totally possible. I just have to be consistent. I am challenging myself this week and I know that will make the difference. Is there something you believe with make a difference for you? Just curious.
Carla - Thanks to you too. I am so sorry to hear your "nose job" is causing you fits. I am praying for recovery and comfort soon so you can get back on track. Hang in there.
Our winners from last week for making daily challenges are:
and our grand leader FishWoman :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: with 6 days of goals met! And passing the bar to boot!!! :woo: :woo: :woo:
Have a great evening ladies!
10-24-2005, 11:30 PM
Just wanted to share with you all - my grandmother was moved into a hospice last week but took a turn today and was given last rights. I am trying to find a reasonable flight to Houston to be with my Mom and family this weekend.
10-25-2005, 03:20 AM
Mscat, I'm so sorry to hear of your grandmother's illness. I hope that the time that she has left will be as pain-free and peaceful as possible, and I will be thinking of you and your family. God bless!
10-25-2005, 04:55 AM
glad that you shared with all of us.
So sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope that you find a reasonable flight to be with your Mom and family this weekend.
10-25-2005, 07:33 AM
Mscat, sorry to hear about your gran. Have you tried asking for a compassionate or breavement fare? When my brother was on his way out, Northwest (do they still exist?) needed to know which hospital he was in, but gave me a much reduced fare to get to N.O.in a hurry.
My challenge this week: no wine, and tracking on Fitday (did I mention I hate tracking?), and no more whining about the nose which is recovering normally.
Two pounds up from that little free-for-all - time to get serious. (In fact if I didn't need to post before work, I'd be on that Gazelle right now. Really. I would. I'm sure I would...)
10-25-2005, 11:05 AM
Your welcome! Thanks for yours! Won't be offended! Understand. I agree, let's just put it behind us and go forward from now on. Thanks for the congrats on my loss of 1 pound! I hope that I have more success too! Hoping I have a great day too! You do the same! :)
10-25-2005, 11:46 AM
Hi! everybody,mscat816 sorry to hear about your Gran hope you get a resonable ticket to be with your family and God gives you strength to bear with it.
It seems my weight loss has taken a vacation I am trying hard not to do unnecessary snacking in the evening have to put more effort into it. I have to loose 2 pounds this weeks challenge and drink water. I am doing 60 mts exs:cp::cp: daily but I think I am eating more than burning. My sweet tooth too has errupted too ........:rolleyes:
Today I started on :cp:TAEBO :cp: and did my regular abs exs. Thats all for now girls.
c u all later.....:dancer::dancer::dancer:
10-25-2005, 12:42 PM
I completed day 1 by doing a 45-minute "Crunch Pilates" dvd at home last night, I also did my pushups (10).
Mscat - so sorry about your grandmother. I hope you will be able to spend some time with her.
10-25-2005, 12:50 PM
Mornin' Ladies -
Cheers to our Monday leaders . . .
Bonnie :carrot: for completing your exercise goal. Thank you for your prayers.
TamLynne :carrot: you did a great job on your goals yesterday!
Sandy - Thanks for your kind words - you have nothing to worry about - you have been a delightful addition to our thread. No ruffled feathers that I am aware of. Let us know what action goals you are setting to lose those 2 lbs :goodluck: to you this week.
Fishwoman - everytime I think of pushups I think of Demi Moore in GI Jane. Hmmm - I want to take on pushups too. How many can you do? I can only do about 2 of the regular ones  But I can 30 of the girlie ones. You've inspired me - I am adding 30 push ups to my exercise routine every day this week starting today. See what you started? Perhaps if I get a GI Jane poster - it will help motivate me even more???
Carla - we are here for you - you have been dealing with a lot of stuff and not just up the nose! Weight loss is challenging enough in itself without the emotional rollercoaster of all the drama in your life. No pity - just loving support. We will stand with you :grouphug: as you step into new possibilties for yourself and ;) no wine! Thanks for the tip - will check into the bereavement fares.
All that we have is right now.
Yesterday is gone, Tomorrow is not promised, and Someday is not a day of the week!
10-25-2005, 08:33 PM
My exercise today was an hour at the YMCA, did a 20 min. bike session and about 45 minutes of weight machines. :-) YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Also have had NO WINE for two days ....
Although it isn't part of my Challenge this week, I have kept my calories to 1500 or so the last two days ... YES! :p Maybe someday I actually WILL see 189 again .... :dizzy:
Congrats to all of you who are doing so well ... proud of you! Have a good evening ...
10-26-2005, 12:50 AM
Today I surprised myself: no wine, over 13,000 steps walked, 20 min on my Gazelle (10 min a.m. no resistance, 10 min evening with the resistance on. For some reason I can't get the HRM to work...) Also no self-pity, and I had an extra-long break at lunch so went for a pedicure instead of making a :ink: of myself! My dark brown toenails are just the cat's pyjamas. I've decided against Fitday after all - I'd forgotten that it's rather annoying if you happen to be one of the people (like me) whose diet doesn't fit their food list. And for me to use it means I have to obsess about food more than I want to.
Hi to Bonnie and Casper and Fish and Sandy and Tamlynn and of course our beloved Cat. I have a hunch that this will be a weight loss week for all of us! Especially those of us (not to mention any names) who have once again climbed back out of Onederland :o . I don't think I'll be bragging about onederland again unless I'm safely on the slim side of 190. This is the second time I've had to move the ticker back up to the danger zone... Not that I didn't enjoy almost every bite/sip, but in retrospect it really wasn't worth it.
10-26-2005, 01:00 AM
I was inspired today and I have 2 new challeges for this week: 10 push-ups and 15 situps daily. Today, "yesterday," I met this goal. Also I drank water all day long - lots of it. I plan, starting tomorrow to get back OP with my SlimFast daily recipes and tracking. Calorie intake still is 1300.
10-26-2005, 09:53 AM
Good morning! Yesterday was day 2. I got my 30 minutes of exercise, plus I did 12 pushups.
I hope everyone has a lovely day.
10-26-2005, 04:49 PM
Hello? :listen: Everyone must be busy today!
I did my pushups (8) and exercise two 20-minute walks) for today. I am still going to try to get to the gym and do either the treadmill or the elliptical, but am not sure what time i will get out of work today.
10-26-2005, 05:44 PM
Ouch! Fish, I don't know how you do those pushups. Years ago I could do 15 wussie pushups in a row, but now not even one. Maybe Mscat is absent because she did all 30 pushups in her goal and she's in hospital now?
Just over 5000 steps today, the total will probably be around 7000. No wine, and still have to do the gazelle, but I'm a little stiff (amazing understatement) - who knew I'd get sore from so little activity? I am SO out of shape, but up to the challenge.
I don't have time to post in the morn if I'm working, and don't have access to a computer at work. Now if I had been energetic, I could have come home at lunch, done my gazelle, added lots of steps, and posted then. Instead I found a corner and actually napped on the floor. :o
Mscat, you're very generous about my out-of-shape blues, but you mustn't let me take advantage of your good nature... I work better with a stick than a :carrot: .
10-26-2005, 06:11 PM
Carla, here I come with the whip!!! I know what you mean ... the slightest extra exertion, and I feel about 94 the next day! :D
Well, pop the champagne cork! I've actually exercised and had no wine for three days in a row. (DH just asked if I wanted wine ... :( ... made myself say NEIN!!! Wasn't easy ... ) I did a 50 minute walk this morning (LOVE this cold air), and I believe I will manage to keep those calories around 1500 today! We're doing jalapeno Bubba burgers and Hebrew National hot dogs on the grill, enough for two days so I don't need to fire the grill up twice! Am not having any bread, just the meats with some sliced tomato and onion, and some mustard. I had pasta, cheese & tomatoes for lunch today, so much pasta, in fact, that I used all my "carb" calories for the day, but it was WONDERFUL! :D
Mscat, I hope you are well, and haven't push-up'd yourself into the bed, as Carla fears!
Have a great evening, all, and get ready to conquer tomorrow!
10-26-2005, 08:18 PM
Hi FishWoman, Carla, and Bonnie!
I'm on OP! I walked DD to school this morning - remembered my pedometer! Did 10 pushups and 15 situps. Have walked 3399 steps or more.
Hope everyone has a lovely evening.
10-27-2005, 09:00 AM
Hi! :wave:Everybody you all are inspiring me so much with your hard work and here I am stuck with unhealthy snacking. My exercise is going on uninterrupted but what will billy blanks do when i'll have a bag full of tortilla chips with dip:T watching superman.........I have not been in the mood of writing either but I was there reading you all........posts.
Pushups r soooooo hard I do around 20 evey second day......but on my knees.
:cp::cp:have a good day all..:bravo::bravo:
10-27-2005, 09:17 AM
Hi sandybhat!
And now for yesterday's results!
I stayed OP ALL DAY and turned out with 1020 calories! :) That's way under 1300! :) My weight is 171.5, and that's with a head full of rollers! :) I walked ~3546 steps! :)
:cp: :cp: You have a good day too, sandybhat! :bravo: :bravo:
10-27-2005, 10:44 AM
Three days of goals met .... did the long walk and NO WINE! (The calories got away from me yesterday :( , but that's not part of my official Challenge, although I'm trying!) Caspar, I would try to not go below 1200 calories or you might get ravenous and "make up" for it the next day! :o (I would! :) )
Sandy, just do your best today ... don't worry about yesterday! We are here for you.
Where is everyone? Must be busy enjoying Fall! :)
Have a good one, all!
10-27-2005, 01:06 PM
Hi Ladies - Been MIA again - so busy and distracted but I am trying to keep up with all your posts. Will write more later when I have more time. Just a quick FYI - I am ashamed to say I didn't do any pushups :o so rest assured carla and bonnie I have not pushed myself into bed
Thanks for all your prayers - they worked! I am on a flight to Houston Friday a.m.
My other share of good news is I am down a pound :carrot: and I won the Division F Humorous Speech Contest (Toastmasters) last night! :cheer: :cheer: Now on the the District contest in November!
Have a great day - will give kudos for all your accomplishments later!
10-27-2005, 07:08 PM
Just popping in to say I did my pushups (10) and had two 20-minute walks.
Work is insane. Maybe tomorrow will be slower. Have a great night everyone!
10-27-2005, 08:47 PM
Glad to hear you've managed to arrange a flight to see your Gran, Mscat. I'm sure the visit will be bittersweet, but... and you can get back to pushups when you're home again. And congrats on the pound you lost! :bravo:
Fish, you put us all to shame, just churning out those pushups and those walks. I just have to be back to work for a few days and I fall apart completely, naps on the couch after work and all. :(
Sandy, if I could at least do wussie pushups I would be so pleased. But my arms are like wet noodles, and will probably stay that way until I've got some weights and a lot more gazelling under my belt (not that an apple like me would be caught dead wearing a belt at this weight...) Now I understand the chips and dip, but Superman?
Today I did more or less 10,000 steps (assuming my counter is working right). And I drank no wine. Apart from that it's been bad girl time. It's not as if I don't know better than to go out food shopping on an empty stomach, but that won't make up for today's silliness.
Casper, don't eat too little now! You don't want to spark the legendary starvation mode! (Not something I need to worry about. Ever.)
Bonnie, no wine, long walk, no whine... you're doing a-okay. 1500 calories is a pretty low target anyway. Keep smiling!
10-27-2005, 10:45 PM
I am off to Texas in the a.m. so I may not be posting regularly for the next few days but I know all of you will keep each other going.
carla :cheer: :cheer: :cheer for 3 days of teps and no wine
Fishwoman :cheer: :cheer: you are a lean, mean, exercising machine
Bonnie :cheer: :cheer: and a :woo: for your bonus goals
Casper :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: for 3 days of op
Have a great weekend.
10-28-2005, 10:02 AM
Hi! everybody, I am back to senses didn't do any snacking or just a little few potato chips, the reason was I was not at home so I am now thinking of going off walking as soon as DH comes home from work.........:rolleyes:might work.
wow! casper you really:flow1: dazzle:flow1: with all the weight loss going on I have a question how do you count the calories I mean I can put calories of bread or chips that I am eating but what about some mix vege with 1 tab spoon of canola oil and some spices and what about the portions!! and rice!! I am so confused.......... But you r doing great..... keep going:balloons:........
Yes, carla I am stuck with superman he airs on abc family at 6pm in smallville.......... I usually eat all nonsense watching him..... he!:lol:he!.....but as our favourite Cat and Bonnie says yesterday is gone so will superman I have to just rush outside when the snacking attack comes........;)
congrats!! mascat fr winning your trophy at speech contest.......and also loosing a pound........hope you will have a good family reunion although the loss is huge......
:bravo::bravo:for all of us putting fresh attempts everyday to loose;)and :grouphug: for the encouragemt
good day all.....
off to TAEBO and abs workout...:wl:
10-28-2005, 10:08 AM
Thank you for the cheers, Mscat! It feels good to have a little success again ... :p I feel like I may be getting back in the groove! Mscat, congrats to you on your speech award, and losing that pound!!! :balloons: I have a Halloween party here Monday, then a seven day roadtrip to New England starting next Thursday, when I will do well to maintain ... but I HAVE to think positive, and stop letting parties and travel undo me!!! When I was losing so much last year, I allowed myself a few treats at special times but did not really "jump the rails" for any period of time. I hope I'm getting back to that place! :dizzy:
I now have FOUR  days of success under my belt. Last night, I did an hour of biking and weights at the YMCA, and NO WINE. I'm getting ready to walk this morning.
You will see by the Tracker that I am now back at 197, after being 199 a week ago this time, so I am happy about that! :)
Mscat, I am thinking of you and your Grandmother. :grouphug:
To all you other Fair Ladies .... be good this weekend, and I'll try to do the same. But let's have a good one! :) I MAY have tickets to the Old Miss/N. C. State football game tomorrow, but we're not sure yet! :^:
10-28-2005, 02:49 PM
Just returned from the gym - 30 minutes on the elliptical and 12 pushups.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
10-28-2005, 09:47 PM
Hi sandybhat, Bonnie, and FishWoman!
Bonnie, I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I totally forgot!
We have a Halloween party to go to on Monday too! Wow, a seven day roadtrip to New England! May I jump into one of your suitcases?! Definitely think positive and don't let the parties and travel undo you.
Congrats on your FOUR days of success! :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :) Glad to hear that you were able to do an hour of biking :ebike: and weights :strong: :barbell: at the YMCA, and NO WINE! :cp: :cp: :cp: Hope that you got your walk in this morning.
Congrats on being back at 197! :)
I am pleased to report that yesterday was another OP day for me! 1190 calories, 10 pushups and 15 situps. Both yesterday and today I walked ~ 7340 steps.
I'll try to be good this weekend. I want to have a good one! :) Hope that you get the tickets for the Old Miss/N.C. State football game tomorrow! :^:
10-29-2005, 08:42 AM
Well, I'm dressed and ready to go to the church for day 2 of our annual fall church bazaar! Just thought I'd check in, while waiting on DD to finish getting dressed. No dance classes today.
Will check back later!
10-29-2005, 10:52 PM
Well, it's been a long day. The second day of the church bazaar didn't go as well as the first, but I made enough money to enable me to become active again with Mary Kay. Tried to eat healthy again, while I was gone. A bannana for breakfast along with a Slimfast breakfast shake; roasted chicken :chicken: again with coleslaw and collard greens; 2 bannanas when I got home and then straight back to being OP. Too tired :tired: to do situps or pushups, but we'll see.....
10-30-2005, 01:31 AM
I am in Houston with my family and it has been great. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately, I came in with a cold or sinus infection that got worse so I have done nothing but eat and lay around since I have been here. I did get in 50 crunches and 25 girlie pushups today - but that is better than nothing ;)
You all have been so busy!
Fishwoman :cp: on your workout.
Bonnie :cp: for your goals and :dancer: for overcoming that plateau.
Thanks again everyone also for your congratulatory messages for my Toastmasters accomplishment. Everyone, have a great weekend.
All that we have is right now.
Yesterday is gone, Tomorrow is not promised, and Someday is not a day of the week
10-30-2005, 08:46 AM
Mscat, glad your trip is going well. I know it's good to be with your family!
Well, girlies, I did so well for four days, Monday through Thursday ... Then Friday I had my exercise session and kept my calories under control, but I confess to having a glass of wine with my friend to celebrate the Carolina Hurricanes beating three powerhouse teams in hockey last week!!! I did it without even thinking!!! :( I was so excited ... :D
Now, yesterday was wonderful fun, but I totally blew my diet. Went tail-gating before the NC State/Old Miss game, where the hostess had all kinds of breakfast goodies; then on to the game (NC State WON!!!) where we had a hot dog. I was okay to that point. Then my diet buddy/friend, who was driving, wanted to have nachos and Margaritas at Chili's. :o  :p Afterwards, I told her it was her fault, and she FORCED me, but she didn't quite buy that! :D Then I sinned a little more at home later ....
But I am back on the wagon for today, will take a long walk very shortly, and keep my calories down for sure. I really meant to go a full seven days, with no transgressions, but haven't quite made it! :dizzy:
Hope all you guys are having a great weekend! :grouphug:
10-30-2005, 09:58 AM
Hi! Everybody, lost 2 lbs as my challenge, day has started will write more......
10-31-2005, 02:10 AM

10-31-2005, 02:45 AM
Forgot to mention that I am current on situps, but need to catch up on pushups.
Hi Bonnie! Glad to hear that you did so well for four days - Monday -Thusday...At least you had your exercise session and kept your calories under control on Fiday. Oops on the wine...
Congrats on the Hurricanes!
Sorry you totally blew your diet on Saturday at the NC State/Old Miss game and afterwards, but glad that you're back on the wagon, as of Sunday! Hope you enjoyed your long walk.
Hope that you have enjoyed your great weekend!
10-31-2005, 10:06 AM
Ladies - my Neena passed yesterday morning very peacefully. All of your prayers and thoughts were with me :grouphug:
I will change the thread later but I may not be able to post kudos until Tuesday. I know you will keep each other uplifted during my absence.
Everyone did great work on meeting goals last week. I am looking forward to hearing what new ACTION goals we are taking on by tomorrow!
All that we have is right now.

Mscat, so sorry to hear about your grandmother. :kickcan: But I'm glad for both of you that you were able to be with her. Don't worry about the new thread, we can manage until you and your wise words of inspiration and encouragement are ready to take up the torch again. (Meanwhile some once-a-weekers, or at least this one, are being bad and breaking all the rules while "teacher" is away....)
:carrot: :carrot: :o :carrot: :carrot:
10-31-2005, 03:09 PM
DON'T POST HERE - GO TO WEEK AT A TIME CHALLENGE #19.
