Yesterday was Sunday...and I had an ON PLAN day!! :carrot: Just love that carrot!!
MMM...Okay, time to fess up to the debotchery (sp?) of Los Angeles...I'm in at 160. Hopefully after an OP week this week, MMM next monday will be well into the 150's
Not much time to chat this morning. Have to take a shower and get ready for preschool. I have new sweaters to wear from Kohl's. What a nice store. Lots of clothes for my age group...slightly trendy, but not too teenagerish, but not too...you know...gramma-ish. And the accessories!! My DD and I spent at least 45 mins looking at earrings and necklaces!! Very pretty stuff, too!!
Okay...gotta run. Junior's driving me nuts...I have laundry folded on the dining room table and he's come in with a ball of Kyle's socks, then some kitchen towels, then one of Kyle's sneakers...I offically gave up a pair of my sneakers and a pair of slippers and let him chew on them because they're officially his. But now that they're his, now he's not interested in them...just the stuff that's off limits, of course. :dizzy:
Okay...I'm off to the shower!! Talk to you guys later..
Oh...one more thing. I took DD to the doctor on Friday and DD is in the 90th percentile on her weight, so I told her I was having her do my Sugar Buster's diet and she insisted that it is a low carb diet. I said, no, it's not low carb, but low insulin producing...low carb ends up being low sugar most times, but low sugar doesn't necessarily mean low carb. She flat out refused to agree with me, so we ended up coming to the middle and agreeing that it's the same as the phase two South Beach. Anyhow...we both agreed that its a good idea for DD since she should be more closer to the 50th percentile in weight and that she doesn't need to be on a diet, but just watch her sugary intake. This morning for breakfast, I let her have Life cereal, which I think is good for a kid, and gave her a cheese sandwich (she won't eat deli meat) with real american cheese (from the deli, not the prewrapped sliced stuff), mayo, brown mustard on sourdough, baby carrots with low carb ranch for dipping, unsweetened applesauce and a Nature Valley granola bar...and crystal light to drink.
Okay...really going now...Kris :carrot: Did I mention I love the cool new carrot?

Just talked to Deb and they have lost their power, one of her big trees went down across the street so no one could get out if they wanted too!
We're having strong wind and rain and we've been told to not get out for at least 6-8 hrs.
I'm outta here for now but will be back..

Greetings from wet and windy central Florida. Wilma is just about through the state, but the big bands of wind and rain still are here, and we have a very gray day with lots of rain and gusts. In fact, the schools are even closed here and my DH's office is closed because the courthouse is closed. So we are here watching TV and doing chores. I probably will do a lot of French today. The temp. is supposed to drop down to the 70's in the day and low 60's and lower at night, so we will turn off the AC and enjoy the fresh air when the rain stops.
There was a very interesting article in USAtoday about how some people, in an attempt to maintain optimum health and extend their life span, go on extremely low calorie diets. Actually, 1800 calories did not see that low to me. But there was a side panel that listed other stuff people could do to help maintain good health and I thought it was good enough to copy and post. So here is my "Welcome Monday" gift to everyone:
If severely cutting your diet is too high a price to pay for longer life, recent studies have suggested that the average person can take these steps:
If you smoke, quit
Smoking accelerates the aging process and puts people at risk of heart disease, emphysema and a long list of cancers, including lung cancer.
Slim down
A recent study suggests the nation's obesity problem could derail much of the past century's progress in extending life. Obesity can trigger heart disease, diabetes and other life-threatening conditions. “Getting rid of the fat may be the most potent way to slow down the aging process,” says Thomas Perls, director of the New England Centenarian Study.
Work your body
Scientists already have identified a therapy that keeps the body running at top capacity throughout life: exercise. “It's the closest thing we have to a Fountain of Youth,” says Jay Olshansky of the University of Illinois in Chicago. Regular physical activity wards off heart disease, diabetes and maybe Alzheimer's. It also seems to reverse some aspects of aging. For example, lifting weights can help boost muscle mass, which declines as people get older.
Load up on fruits and vegetables
There's no proof yet, but many experts believe a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can help protect people from a laundry list of age-related diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Fruits and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants that help neutralize damaging molecules called free radicals that are thought to play a role in the aging process.
Avoid junk food
That includes white bread, white rice, soda, chips, pastries and cakes. Instead, experts such as Luigi Fontana of Washington University in St. Louis recommend foods that are packed with nutrients, such as whole-grain bread, brown rice, fish and nuts such as almonds or pecans.
Stay connected
Studies show a connection between social isolation and depression and other diseases, says Christine Himes Fordyce at the Group Health Cooperative in Seattle. People who volunteer, join social groups or just maintain their ties with friends and family seem to live longer, she says.
Don't sweat the small stuff
People who live a long time often seem to have good coping skills, Perls says. They'll turn to prayer, meditation, or even humor to help get them through a stressful situation. Many studies have linked stress to a damaged immune system and killer conditions such as heart disease.

Well, I'm back from Marietta. I brought back a inus infection and Jake got into something he shouldn't have. There are so many people over there, and it's so crazy. Somebody must have left out something with wheat or something and he got to it. He's cried all night for 2 days, had several diaper blowouts (no blood, thank god) and he's got an excema breakout all over his body. All over a piece of toast or something. He wants to be held non stop. He so miserable. I hate to see him like this and not be able to do anything for him. It just turns him into a different baby. I wonder how much of this he will grow out of.
I'm not going to go to the Y this morning. Jake is fine if I'm around, but I don't want someone else to get impatient with him if he starts fussing. He's mostly Ok, but I think I'll wait it out another day. BEcides. My sinuses are so bad that I can't move my neck. U+I hate being sick! Maybe I can go after Trav gets home. Or I could pull out my old Belly dance video :)
And you'll be happy to know that we gave in and turned on the heater this morning. It's only 45 degrees here. I guess it's time. With Jake and me sick I don't want to make anything worse. He had a pretty high fever last night. We were hoping to be able to insulate the house before it got this cold. This months Arbonne check should be good, so maybe we can still do it. Last winter was so miserable. We did get some insulation done in the kids room. It should be better this year. :)
Selah came in this morning at 5 and crawled in bed with us. She layed there half asleep and sung the whole VEggieTales song. I didn't even realize she could do that! During breakfast I asked her if she could sing it and she jsut went for it. How do they get so big?
BOB- Stay safe, and keep us posted. Thanks for the update on Deb.
Tech- You go girl!!! An OP day on Sunday is a big deal!!! I would dance like a carrot, too :) Good job on keeping yout DD focused on eating healthy instead of going on a diet. I started dieting at 12, and it was miserable. It warped everything I believe about myself, and I still struggle with it.
Monet- I'll call you :)

Gator- We were posting at the same time. You stay safe, too. Enjoy your day at home with your man :) Trav and I snuggled on the couch under 3 blankets last night and watched Phantom og the Opera, again... Yes, I made popcorn. I'm such an addict! At least I make it myself with Coconut oil.

Talitha: Popcorn with coconut oil? That sounds so good it sounds like one of Monet's tricks!! We have a little boy in preschool that has a peanut allergy. Like, if he has anything with peanuts, his throat closes shut!! So, on the snack list, it says NO PEANUTS all over it and we have graham crackers for a back up just in case. I can't imagine living life with a kid with a violent allergy and always being worried that they'll come in contact with that allergen. I'd be a constant wreck! Its also cold here and the remnants of Wilma are supposed to spur on a Nor'easter for us and bring us rain/snow mix in a day or so! Imagine, a tropical system bringing us snow...:?:
Gator: Thanks for that article...so, basically, it's saying to quit smoking, keep lots of friends, get some exercise and eat the Sugar Busters way for a long, happy, healthy life. I wonder what scientist was paid gobs of money to come up with what we all learned in gym class!! No matter how you slice it, it's all just common sense, isnt it?
Bob and Gator: Take care of yourselves!! And lets hope this is it until next fall!! What a year it's been!!
Okay...today for lunch I had leftover chicken from dinner last night, sliced up and on a sandwich on WW bread and I think I'll go make a smoothie to top it off. I skipped breakfast because I was too busy getting trash out, hubby and DD off to school or work and Kyle up and at 'em for preschool and getting Junior situated for the kitchen while I was gone.
Will be back later...Kris :carrot:

Just a question, has nothing to do with weight loss. We have a stray cat that had two kittens at our house  yeah, I know. Anyway, one kitten is great and the other one is healthy, but seems to be blind. He was very late opening his eyes and they are only about half open and a whitish yellow color. Actually, I'm not even sure he has "eyes". AAAWWWW! He's so cute but pitiful! I'm taking him to our vet this Wednesday to get her opinion. Has anyone dealt with a blind kitty? Can they grow to lead happy lives or is it more humane to have the put down :sorry: . We seem to be falling in love with the little guy. I have heard of older cats that go blind doing well, but they already know their way around. Do you think he can learn to get around and be OK  ? Thanks in advance for any help! ;)

Only have a few minutes to post. This week will be busy with prepping for husband's b-day on Friday so I may be a little scarce this week.
I'm feeling much better this week. Thanks for all the supportive comments shared by so many last week. I had a REALLY hard time with the death of that little baby and had a 2-day migraine and several sleepless nights. Got some decent sleep and said my prayers. That's about all I can do to ease what I'm feeling.
The MM has also given me some reprieve! :carrot: I'm actually down 2 1/2 but y'all know that slider thing won't calculate losses like that. HOOORRRAAYYY! I have to say that portion control may be the biggest aid to my success.
Me and the Tad went to the pumpkin patch yesterday. See attached. I was so happy to finally be able to put her in the "Ugg" boots and sweater I made her. Just love that little baby so much!
To all our friends being visited by Wilma: HANG ON!! and let us know when you're ok!
TALITHA - Hope Jake is better soon!
Gotta go take care of a few things before the baby calls me again! Check back with y'all later!

FROG: OMG!! I hope you have that picture blown up into an 8X10. That is so darling!! I don't use that word very often, but that's the first word that comes to mind. And... :carrot: 2 1/2 pounds is fantabulous!!
THIN: I don't know...I think I'd have to say I'd give the lil critter a chance to use her other senses to get around...you know...whiskers, ears, paws, nose....these senses will be more hieghtened with the loss of sight and she'll get around fine. I'd definitely keep her a house cat, though. I'd be afraid to let her go outside to fend for herself. Let us know what the doctor says. Little kitties are so cute. Ask Monet...she's got a whole pet shop of cats/kitties at her house!! I"m so jealous!!

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T HURT THE KITTY!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm not a big animal lover. Not that I don't like them, but I typically would be one to say it if the little guy needed to be put down. Actually, I tend to be very pick about which animals I like. BUT.. We had a blind cat growing up, and it was amazing!!!! That cat was so smart. We found it as a stray and it was clearly still very young. Had been beaten and scarred. IT was the ugliest kitty you'd ever seen. We named it RADAR, because it just knew where things were without being able to see. It could feel around things just by it's wiskers (except for the time my mean brother clipped them). It was truely amazing to watch. Radar was the most loving cat I've ever known. And the only pet that my whole family (yes, all 12 of us!) could agree to love. Think of it this way, if your kitty was born blind, it doesn't know what it is missing. It will learn to live like any other animal. It doesn't have to adjust from life before being blind, like one that loses sight. My homeschoolin' momma used Radar for character lessons all of the time. That cat tought us so much about living with what we had, being happy no matter what, trusting God to tell us where to go next. I think you are the luckiest person on earth to have a blind kitty. Don't let it go!
ANyway, I'm done with my begging...
Frog- That child of yours is so gorgeous! I understand how you feel about the loss of that baby. It's devestating when a child dies. I'm glad you're starting to feel a little more peace about it. I can't immagine losing one of my babies.
Tech- only use coconut and olive oils. The coconut oil is something I picked up from The Makers Diet, based on Biblical eating principals. I I follow a good amount of the ideas. It's amazing to see how some of the things that God put in place as restrictions back them con be totally validated by moder science and knowledge about our bodies and nutrition. Popcorn is still probobly not SB legal, but it's a treat I ahve to have oncein awhile, and I don't feel like something that God made naturally should be off limits. So, I eat corn when I want to.

Evening everyone! Its been a busy day! I went to feed my fish and noticed something was not quite right. The pump motor was not running and the water was yucky. So, I had to add solving that problem to my day. After a call to my son in law who keeps a 50 gallon tank, my head was reeling. He rattled off all kinds of stuff I needed, and I was terribly confused. I headed to Wally world and ended up purchasing another top filtration system, in a five gallon hexagonal tank. It looks neat. It took all afternoon to get the tank running, and I had to take Bert and Ernie out and put them in a quart jar while I fixed the new tank, then let it run a few hours. It would have been better to let it run longer, but they could not stay in a quart jar more than a few hours. They lost all their color. ( they are long finned black striped tetras) Now that they are calming down, their color is returning. Poor things. I could not find the tiny snails my neighbor brought me to eat the algae. I almost wonder if one of them got into the pump and messed it up. So, now I have enough tank space for a few more fish. I have wanted a bigger tank for ages...the old one was only two gallons...the new one is five. I may get more tetras, so they will school. They like to be in groups of about five... I will also get a algae eater, and a bottom feeder to keep the tank clean. The old was was so nasty on the bottom!
I talked to Fillise for a while this morning, as she was driving on her way home. She was going to hit Atlanta, much farther south then me, at four. It was not going to work well to meet up, so hopefully we can arrange something in a week or two. She has a lot going on right now, but hopes to be able to check in now and then.
One of our kitties is sick. I found her sleeping under my son's window yesterday...and it was weird because I could barely get her to wake up, when she is usually very excited to see anyone and is rather vocal. We brought her in and James has been keeping her in his room. She has swollen glands, and her eyes have a lot of ickies in them. Yesterday she would not eat, but today, she seems more perky and drank some water, then later some chicken broth. Poor thing.
I fixed chili for dinner tonight. I know you all get sick of hearing this, but I made it in the pressure cooker and it turned out SO good! The pressure cooker and the Penzey's chili powder were a dynamic combination! I am stuffed!
I hope our Florida gals are ok...You all check in and less us know you are ok!
I am off to prepare for bed. I am tired and achy.
:carrot: Doncha just LOVE this guy?

Ladies
The wind is still up and strong enough to blow you down..Tippy went out a while ago and she didn't stay long...just long enough!
The rain is over. I was up all night watching and waiting for the storm to hit. I did lay down this afternoon and got some sleep, and I'm ready to hit the hay again!
When we went to dinner with my Brother, there was so much wind over on Siesta Key. There was debris everywhere..things flying through the air...He is on his way over to Miami for the rest of the week. Their meeting is at one of Donald Trumps hotels...he told me the name of it but I can't remember it for the life of me! I game him a few places to go eat. I should have told him to call Debbie...she would have directed him to SHORTY'S for BBQ....HE LOVES THAT!!
I have sat in this computer chair for the past three days and I'm so stiff.
I just woke up....sitting in this computer chair...I'll not be able to walk tomorrow!
I'm off to bed...I'll talk to y'all tomorrow..

Good morning!
I teach this afternoon. I am getting a late start today. I slept until 8, then checked emails for a bit. I am about to wander down and find some breakfast and see if I can get James moving. Yesterday, I got a couple of pie pans, so I want to bake some pies today. I am dragging my feet because I don't want to make the crusts. How silly is that? I am planning on a walk today too. I will try to get in two miles today. I may even be smart enough to remember my pedometer! I have it sitting right here...but its become familiar scenery! :lol3:
GATOR: I am glad things are fine with you there. I hope the weather is beautiful today!
BOB: I hope you got some rest, and are not hobbling around today!

Don't worry, I won't hurt the Kitty! I have an appointment to take him to the vet tomorrow, just to get her opinion on what is really going on with him. I have dont some research online and everything seems to agree with Talitha and Monet that he should be a great cat. We loved the name Monet.. Radar! Mama cat had the babies out on the sidewalk yesterday and the black one was having a ball hiding in the bushes and hissing at us. ;) But little "Muffin" as the kids call him, was just sitting there. I think it may be time to take him away from Mom and bring him inside to his new "home". I would hate to see him hurt or worse by some animal or something. we live in the woods and have cayotes and foxes around.
We went to Rome last night to a Choral festival where Rachel was performing. There were I guess 200-300 kids singing together and they sounded wonderful! :cp: They sang one song in Latin and one in Hebrew as well as one in English. I think it was good for her!
Have a great day! :)

Morning All. (Notice that I do not use the word good?)
Selah woke me up at 2 to get in bed with us. I guess I need to start breakign this habbit. Is It really bad? She comes in. I let her snugle for a little while, maybe an hour, and then carry her back to her bed. I make sure that she is awake when I put her back so that we aren't sneaking/tricking her. She doesn't fuss, just says 'I low yoo mamma'. I'm so torn on wha tto do. She's been doing this ever night for several weeks.
Anyway, Jake woke up at 3 and REFUSED a bottle. I wonder if he had a bad little dream. I rocked him for awhile and he eventually calmed down enough to take a bottle while I held him, and then went back to bed.
So, basically, I was up from 2 to 4:30. I'm going to the DFM on friday, as always. but I need a few things before then. I hate it when I don't make it the whole 2 weeks! I'm wondering if Jake could eat corn chex or rice chex. And then, if there are organic versions of them. I'll give him non organic if I have to. I've got to have some easier snacks for him.
Gator- So glad everything is well!
Monet- ssssssssssssssdmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm From Selah
Bob- Get some rest.

Good morning everyone. Well, they're calling for snow from the Wilma Noreaster today. They said that we along the river should be lucky and only get a couple inches. :( From a hurricane!! Only in the North Country!! Well, I guess we're getting a strong storm that wasn't Wilma, and was the driving force that made her take such a hard right turn towards FL, but they say some of Wilma's energy is going to be transferred to the normal storm to make it really bad. You know, it's always like that around here. When I went to California, I left in shorts and flip flops. And it's snowing already? Did we have Fall during the week we were in CA? :dunno:
DD is home sick this morning with a headache and queasy stomach. Its always hard to know that early in the morning if she's truly sick or just not awake yet. But, she's been home sick one other day this year and she knows the drill that she'll have double the homework the next night, so I leave it up to her more than I used to. But she just told me she feels queasy again, so I guess we made the right choice. I just hope she feels better soon.
Okay...gotta go

I'm home safely. It was a good weekend and the retreat went really well.
I am not, feeling top swift today, however. I just called and cancelled my class for the morning and will be staying close to home today. A necessity--if you know what I mean!
BOB--You were supposed to root for Missy's team on Satruday!!!!! It was not a good day for either of us. . .
Gator--I looked over the posts for last week and OF COURSE, you can park at the church! Lord willing--I'll be there to greet you!
Monet--I was good talking with you yesterday!
Talitha--Sorry I didn't get to call, but by the time I got to Atlanta it was 5 pm and I just wanted to get through there. Next time!
Solly--How are you doing?
Cindy--Hey!
Thin--Awe--take the kitty to the vet--it may just have an infaction or some congestion in the eyes. I'm sure it will be a sweetie! Course, I had a kitty one time that was quite ill when it was rescued and was sooo sweet. Problem was that when he got well he became a terror!! LOL!
Frog--What a sweet picture!!!!! It is going to be som much fun for you and Bill to experience all the holidays now through the tadpole's eyes! I'm glad you are feeling better.
Tech--Thanks for the explanation on Wilma. That just seemed so odd to me. Now that you are back from California--get back on track!!!!!
Ok--I've got to get to work--have a great OP day everyone!

Talitha: My son and daughter both ended up in bed with me a LOT. My DD didn't so much sleep with me as much as crawl in in the night. My DS, on the other hand, was a real pill to get to sleep. I know, my mom's generation, as great of parents as they were, were much more authoritatian that I am and my mom would say, "Just tell him you're the mother and its time for bed and leave him there!" And I'm like, "Sure, and who's going to pay for my therapist to sit with me in my living room while he's calling for me and bawling?" I'm just too much of a whimp. So, if I took Kyle upstairs for a 'bedtime', he'd just freak out and start to cry. So, we would let him wander around the living room playing until he dropped, then we'd take him upstairs. My mother would have FITS!! But I also remember laying in bed bawling myself to sleep because my mom was utilizing her control and saying to me, "Bedtime! Sleep! Now!" and shut the door. I didn't want to do that to Kyle. So...eventually...we made a great bedtime schedule and started with having tooth brushing and jammie time and then Kyle and Shelley would hide on me and I'd have to find them. Then we read a stack of stories and then shoo Shelley out of the room and then I put on lullabies and lay on the floor next to Kyle's bed with a reading light, reading a book to myself until he fell asleep. I have some classical guitar CD's that were awesome. Eventually, I started telling him I was just going to my room to watcht he news and if he needed me, I'll come right in. And now we do this to the story time and as I'm getting Shelley ready for school for the next day, he falls asleep on his own. He even goes up to get his jammies on and brush his teeth with Shelley and now I only have to read stories, turn on his music and I'm outta there! And he's going to sleep happy and secure. :carrot: I should also point out that during the "lay next to his bed and read a book by penlight" phase, I read the entire Lord fo the Rings trilogy  It was a long phase, but I know how fast kids grow up and I just love this tender age of bedtime stories and lullabies. :dizzy: And after reading your post again, I'm realizing that bedtime isn't your problem, but midnight visitations are. When Kyle gets up in the night, I just dim his light and put on his music and he goes right back out. At first I'd lay on the floor by his bed, now he just says sleepily, "Music...and dim lights...." and I think he's out again before I leave the room.
Thin: I'm so glad the kitty just going to go for a check up. He sounds like he'll be a real sweetheart!! And that sounds like a fabulous experience for your DD!!
Fillise: Yes, there isn't much that's normal about this hurricane!! Gee whiz!! I hope that that is it for this year!! Did you hear David Letterman say that after they use the Greek Alphabet to name storms this year, they're going to start naming them after Larry King's wives? :lol3:
Okay...off to go do some dishes and move laundry around. And poor Junior has been sequestered to the kitchen after going on dry dock on the back porch to dry off. He keeps getting into the mud in the back yard. Good thing his fur is short still. Which reminds me. I e-mailed Monet the only picture I could find on my puter of Junior after his sheep shearing  I couldn't find a 'before' picture, but I think you guys know what an old english sheepdog looks like. Now he looks more like Tramp from Lady and the Tramp.
Kitchen is calling me!! Good thing I have lots of decaf tea. Does anyone else like Constant Comment from Bigelow? My daughter only likes the English Teatime, but I don't have any in decaf. :^: Maybe it'll perk her up.

TECH asked me to post this picture of Junior all shaved. Poor pup...and now its all cold and snowy up there!
Breakfast was three pieces of beef jerky, two slices of bacon, a cup of hot tea. I think I may need more, so I will head down and see what else there is. :)
TALITHA: I have an unopened box of brown rice crispies. Do you think Jake could eat them? I don't do cereal for breakfast anymore, and so I never opened the box. I believe they are organic, I got them at Harry's. You could make your own marshmallows with organic sugar and make the kids organic rice krispie treats. How cool is that? :)
FILLISE: I hope you feel better real soon! Plan to come to Hotlanta on a Friday ...but figure two week intervals from this Friday... I was sorry it did not work out yesterday.

Dang what a space cadet I have turned into!
Here are the rest of the replies I was intending:
THIN: Neat experience for Rachel! Where in Rome was the concert? I love that area...our women's retreat is usually at Winshape retreat center on the Berry Campus. (one of the women in our church is somebody important at Chickfilet! :) ) Isn't that far for you? I think that is a good idea to bring the kitty in where it is safe. Is the momma still nursing them though?
TECH: I can't believe we slipped from Summer to Winter here too! We turned off the air conditioner just a little over a week ago and the heat came on last night! Where are the cool nights with the whole house fan going? The crisp evenings and mornings, that warm up to very comfortable temps? We missed that this year!

Thank you, Monet! And you will all be happy to know that Junior's fur has grown in about 2 inches already! He's BRUSHABLE AGAIN!! :carrot: That picture was taken by my mom, who 'likes' Junior, but only from the other side of the fence. It's funny, because that day, my mom and dad and aunt Audrey and Uncle Dave came by and I had Shelley out in the yard with him doing tricks and they all stayed on the other side of the fence and I said, "And here we have our Old English Sheepdog exibit..." It's like he's at the zoo. Problem with him is that he's always in such a rush to jump on people to lick their face and...you know...that's just rude doggie behavior. We're working on it...
Thanks, Monet, for posting it!!

Monet- It was a choral festival on the campus of Shorter College. They traveled to Rome with their chorus teacher yesterday morning and stayed all day till the concert last night. It took us about 1hr. 15 min to get there, so we didn't stay for the entire evening. The kids/middle school aged sang first then some high school groups then the Shorter Chorus was going to sing, but it was a school night and Sean had homework  . We probably would have stayed later if it had been on a weekend. When I was leaving Rachel yesterday morning (in the parking lot at 7am!) her chorus teacher was asking me " :dunno: What happened to fall?!?" So we are all feeling it!

THIN: I know exactly where the entrance to Shorter is! We drove by it on our way to dinner last year. :)
I went to Party City looking for popcorn bags. They have the open boxes, but dang they are pricey! I can order online, but then shipping is horrendous. Anyone have any ideas of where to find printed popcorn bags? Like what kind of store to look for?
Ok, I need to get ready for school! Later!

Try the Oriental Trading Company. They have 12 bags for 2.95, but I don't know what shipping will be. Sometimes they have specials like buy $60 and get free shipping!

Good Afternoon. I jsut had a whirlwind afternoon. I printed 100 flyers and went to the mall and handed them out. I know, it sounds crazy. Once I got over feeling a little shy, it was alot of fun. I met several people with questions about their skin that I could answer. I really hope that It gets me some sales! Either way it was a good experience.
My MIL is into prophetic stuff. She just called me and told me she had to have the meaning of the name Wilma. I don't have a name book, but looked it up online. It means 'Protector'. We'll see how that spins.
Monet- SAM'S CLUB. They have them next to the popcorn and popcorn machines. I used to buy them all of the time for movie nights at the church. THey are very inexpensive. And really retro cool. Jake would love the Rice Crispies! I was jsut thinking that I should try some on him. Thanks!!
Fillisie- No worries. I can't blame you a bit. I was home feeling sick anyway. We'd love to have you come down on a friday to go to the Dekalb Farmers Market. We go every other week. This is an on week. Maybe you can plan for it sometime. It'll be great!!
Thin- Sounds like fun! Gotta love those long drives. At least the gas has gone back down some.
Tech- Thanks. That was really encouraging. Although, she doesn't have a problem going to bed, or going back into bed when we tell her it's time. I'm the one who doesn't want to give it up. I lave waking up with her standing there saying "I hold you now?". It's about the only quiet time I get to cuddle her. I really need to make more of an effort to do that during the day. I'm just working so hard right now. It seems like every moment has 3 things to be done.
Every one else have a great evening!!

so my 64oz cup at home wasn't filled like it should have been! http://bestsmileys.com/drinking/13.gif
I gotta go fix some supper...I think fish would be good....ok, it WILL be good!

Wow, 3 pages on Tues. I better hurry up ! :) oh I love the pumpkin..how cute.

What a cute pic!
Talitha- I hope Jake is better
Frog- congrats on the 2 1/2 pound loss :carrot: That pic is the most cute thing. I agree,, you should get it enlarged.

Bob- drink that water ! :)
Im heading to my second areobics class at the gym tomorrow night. I hope this steps things up a notch for me cause last weeks was sure a killer !

Hey Y'all! Just doing a quick peek to see how everyone is doing. The Tad had her 6 month check-up which means "Shots said the doctor, shots said the nurse, shots said the lady with the alligator purse." :bb: Including a flu shot. :yikes: She was very brave today.
Thanks for all the comments about my sweet girl. I don't mean to be an obnoxious gloating, doting mother, but I'm soo very much in love with my DD. :cloud9: Mr. Frog may possibly be more smitten than I am.
The scale was down another pound this morning :dancer: but I won't record it until I see that number several days in a row. :goodscale
Heat wasn;t working last night and there was quite a nip in the house so I pu the Tad in the bed with us to stay warm. It was sweet. Repairman, also our neighbor, came today and I don't know what he did in the 5 minutes he was here but now we have heat. :stars: The $60.00 service call was worth it, but good grief! Perhaps I should go into HVAC business.
I've read through all the posts and am up to speed on how you all are. I don't quite have time before bed to post individually, so here is a hurried synopsis :moped: post to let you all know I'm thinking about you :
All this talk about :corn: is making me want some! YUM!
To those of you who survived the hurricane safely :grouphug:
To you LOSERS

Love the dog pick!
For all the sweet comments about Miss Baby :thanks: Perhaps I should get her an agent! ;)
Promise to read and :write: more when I get a chance this week!

I have good news and bad news. First the good...I brought Muffin and his sister into the kitchen last night for a while. They are starting to eat canned food and LOVE it! :hungry: Then we put a bell on the end of a black piece of yarn to see what they would do. Well, Muffin followed it and batted at it and tried to attack it while his sister looked at him like he was crazy. He was so funny! He either can follow it by hearing it, or maybe he could see the shadow of the black yarn against the light floor. I don't know. He did not do well with us changing the direction too quickly and would just keep on the same track till he realized something was different, but it was his first time "playing" with us and we had a ball! The bad news is Mama moved them last night and I hope I can find them this afternoon to take him to the vet. I think I will get a new litter pan and just keep them in when I find them. I need to find "sister" a home before she starts getting wild on us! Anybody need a kitty? She's cute! :p

Good Morning Bustin Buddies!!!
I'm feeling Sooooo much better today and so is Jake. The only issue left is that it will take a week for the excema all over his body to go away. I'm keeping the Arboone baby lotion all over him, and using the baby oil. It worked wonderes last time, so I'm hoping it will be gone by Nov 1st, when we get our family picture taken. His whole face is broken out. Poor lil bubbie.
Only have a minute. I've got to go hit the Y. Haven't been sinve Thursday and it's killing me!
BOB- Drink your water today! I find it very amusing that after forgetting your water for 3 days, you want to eat fish :)
Monet- Ironically enough, I have a Sam's club card and actually need to get some things on Friday, too. I'm out of diapers, and there's nowhere else cheaper :) Do you want to go with me after the DFM? I usually go to Clairmont, but it may be easier to go to Lawrenceville?
Cindy-Thanks. Jake is much better.
TECH- JAke is allergic to peanuts, too. And Wheat, Dairy, Soy,Tomatoes, Yeast, Baking Soday, Rye. I couldn't eat any of it while I was breastfeeding. It has been very difficult to get used to, and now that he's getting older it's so hard to deal with being around other people and their food. What am I going to do once he starts walking? I'm really overwhelmed by it. The DR tells me to buy these allergy tags that you pin on their back to list what not to feed them. I say it's easier to just maek a sticker that says "DON'T FEED ME".
Off to the Y!!!

Hello all!
Mmmmm, cool mornings here have prompted me to begin making one of my favorite breakfasts--hot oatmeal. I make it with milk, agave, cinnamon, and the last two mornings I've thrown in a handful of blueberries--YUM!!! Also very filling. With the agave and cinnamon it tastes like maple syrup and cinnamon.
I went to my spa last night for a complimentary peel. This morning my face is a little red and tight--we'll see how how it progresses over the next day or so. The treatment is usually about $125.00, but they wanted to introduce their clients to it so they had a "peel party."
Monet and Talitha--we'll have to look at Fridays over the next few months, I'd love to do the Dekalb Farmer's Market!
Thin--Hope you find the kitties! Mamma likes to move them around doesn't she?
Frog--We've all witnessed people being obnoxious about their kids--you aren't even close! Besides, we've all fallen in love with Miss Baby too!
Cindy--Thanks--I'm feeling better. I hope the training goes well. You know what they say. . . slow and steady!
BOB--Drinkie ye water! Fish will also wring the water out of your system--don't know why, but it will.
OK--I'm getting to work now. I'm on the road tomorrow and Friday, so probably no posts until Sat.
Have a good rest of the week!

Just a quick post while I have time. I got out of work late and rushed home to get dinner started cause Im meeting DD at the gym for a step class at 5 and then I wont be home until 7 or later then who knows what time I will have before bedtime.
Today was a day off the training and tomorrow it starts again. I have to go in at 8am instead of 6:30 so that just means I get home later, bummer. But its only for 4 more days so I can handle that. Im such a early person and hope I can sleep in a little extra tomorrow. I was thinking maybe I could get up and do my exercises before work. I dont exercise in the mornings so that should be interesting to see if Im up to doing that. Ill see how I feel tomorrow when I get up.
Thats about all I can think of for now. Hope everyone is having a fantastic week !

Flying by. School today went pretty well. The head of school was giving a tour to a prospective student's mother today and brought her into the art room. They ended up staying for about 15 minutes. It just happened to be the first grade, which is one of my best classes. The kids really listened to what I was saying and all of them are working hard. Their work shows it. It is way beyond what a normal first grader would be doing and the mother was very impressed. :) Of course, its not me, just the curriculum, but the head of school seemed very pleased. Oh yeah!
My shoulder is aching really badly, and I am just wiped out today. My kitchen is a wreck and I just broke one of the five rules and ate a substantial snack. I think I will call it dinner and not eat anything else. Just drink! :lol3: I may get in a walk tonight too. I went for one last Wednesday with my son and it was actually kind of fun.
Off to get some stuff done! I will be back later!

This has to be quick- just flying by to let you guys know I'm still here. First time I've been on the computer in awhile. Just don't feel like getting on the thing after being on it all day at work. As far as my eating goes, it's basically the same story. I have good and bad days. My weight was in the lower 160's the last time I wrote, now it's back in the upper 160's(HUGE sigh). So, I'm back trying to get it back down. I'll try to catch up later, right now I need to give Boogie a bath and do some stuff before it gets too late!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
Just a quickie to let y'all know I'm drinking my water! BUT...Had to leave work at 11 a.m. to go to the Doc about my leg. The swelling is not going down and my feet look like FRED FLINTSTONE'S!!! He has ordered a VENUS ULTRA SOUND. He's looking for a possible blood clot, but when he check my leg, there wasn't any sorness redness of any kind. Just a tightness that is unexplainable! IF he gets the results that he's hoping for, then I can go back to work..YUP..I'M HOME WITH MY LEG ELEVATED AND WILL BE LIKE THIS UNTIL HE DECIDES WHAT TO DO WITH ME! IF HE DOESN'T GET THE RESULTS HE'S LOOKING FOR....Then on Friday I have to have a CT PELVIS and he will be looking for anything that is causing the problem..right down to tumors etc...FINGERS CROSSED PPLEASED LADIES!!
I'll be checking in so don't think I've deserted y'all!

Evening everyone! I just got in from a 1.5 mile walk. That brings my step count up to about 12,400. I actually remembered to wear my pedometer today! :carrot:
I skipped dinner tonight, after eating a substantial snack when I got in from school. I did not however, skip my wine. I am sipping my port now. James and Tom suggested that I henceforth only allow myself my Wednesday port if I have had a walk too. Sounds like a plan! :)
I was going to be carless tomorrow, but Tom found out that the part they need to fix his truck is no longer made! The shop is going to try and find either a substitute, or a kit, or a used one. So, I don't have to sit at home without transportation tomorrow. Yay!
I got two new shirts today from Avenue online. They were on sale for half price, plus I had a 20% off coupon. I like them. I think I am pretty well set for school clothes now. :)
Oh, and the bummer of the week? They accidently paid me for one week twice! So, they are docking my next paycheck to correct it. :( So this next paycheck will be half what it SHOULD be.
THIN: I sure hope you find those kitties! We had a mama cat who kept moving hers, and lost one each time. She started out with like seven, and ended up with two. It was pathetic. We adopted her, and got her spayed. She was an awful mother! No more kittens for her!
BOB: Goodness, what ARE we going to do with you? I hope and pray the leg is ok soon, and its nothing serious.
TALITHA: Thanks for the offer on Sam's. The admin from the church went and got me a box of the bags today, as I had emailed him last night, and he was going today anyway. You go to Sam's when its most convenient for you, ok? :) 10 am on Friday? I can't spend too much, as payday is not until Monday for me! :(
FROG: :carrot: Congrats on the loss! With a child as precious as your daughter, you are entitled to gloat, and be as obnoxious as you want! We don't mind! I certainly don't! I LOVE kids. That is why I teach at this Christian school. I certainly don't do it for the $$! :lol3:
Ok, I am off to knit some before bed. I am SO behind, I am not sure I will be able to catch up and finish everything by Christmas!
 Sweet dreams!

Yeah! I found the kittens! With the help of Buddy our dog! He knew just where they were, imagine that! I put them both in the carrier and we went to the vet. She says she has never seen anything like Muffin. She's not sure if she has eyeballs, but there does seem to be something dark in there. She also is not sure if he can see shadows or not as he does not run into walls, but may just be sensing when he gets near. No other health problems at all. So I guess we will try to make him happy. Her opinion is if he's eating and drinking well and seems happy, he probably is. :smug: I have them in the house now. Muffin was out exploring around the house this evening, got lost and started meowing. His sister called to him from their bed and helped him find his way. They are so cute! Now dh and kids want to keep her too! I don't want to end up like one of those cat ladies you see on TV!! :dizzy:
Well, I better head to bed now! Goodnight!

THIN: Two kittens, especially where they are litter mates and one is blind and the other is helping it, hardly makes you one of those sick individuals who have lots and lots of cats...like even SIX! ( Like ME!) Keep them both...its not hard to have two. No more difficult than one, and in the circumstances, the sister will be a great comfort and help to poor blind Muffin. :)
Night all!

I've got sooo much to do this morning. My house is a wreck b/c I've been working so hard, and I have someone coming for lunch. I don't know if I told you guys. I met Sara in homeschool choir when I was 9. We moved from VA to CA 2 years later, but Sara and I hav ekept in touch. Amazing for me, since I've never kept up with anyone else in my whole life. She was my only friend bridesmaid (the rest were sisters). I've only seen her once sinve my wedding 4 1/2 years ago. Anyway, she is moving from VA to TX and driving though today fro lunch. I want her to see my wholehouse, but I am so tempted to stuff all of the mess in my room and keep it off limits. Any why am I sitting here wasting time? I'm so addicted to you guys ;)
Oh, I got on the scale this AM. Totally forgot on Monday b/c I was so focused on Jake. I was at 189 FINALLY :)
Monet- 10 it is : ) It's my meat week, so I'll need to get straight home anyway.
Fillisie- I've been making oatmeal every morning for the kids, too. I love it. I'm sticking to my shakes for breakfast. Just pick a friday. I can even go on an off week if I need to. Anything for my Buster Buddy. :carrot:
Solly- Good to hear from you!!! I hope you get to relax some this weekend!
Cindy- Thanks for checking in
Heart- We miss you :p
bob- Stay off yo feet woman!! Jeep us posted, and we'll be praying for ya. ;)
Thin- I vote that you keep both too. That's a big deal coming from me. I am seriously the one pet if any type, but it sounds like they belong together. Muffin sounds just like Radar. Somehow he could sense where things were and hardly ever run into them. He sure could get loud if he got lsot, though! :dizzy:

Good morning! Just checking in before I head down to make some coffee! I slept pretty well considering my shoulder is just aching constantly. I hate developing the arthritis symptoms in another joint. I have had knee, and hip problems from my Lupus before, and I was hoping I was over it. (it has some connection with hormones, and usually is found in young women of child bearing age...I am beyond that though it doesn't seem to be helping. :( )
TALITHA: Your friend is coming to see you, not the house. Don't worry about it. If she has kept up with you all these years, she knows you are the creative messy type, and it will not even notice any messes. Just wash the jelly off the table. That is my thoughts...
techwife
10-27-2005, 09:15 AM
Talitha: I've been selective of best friends all my life, too. I have two best friends and they are a girl I grew up next door to (we have a picture of us when I was under a year old and she was holding me on her lap at under two years old) named Sue and the other is my best friend that I met on the first day of Junior High named Jackie. I absolutely LOVE seeing them. You have a great time with your best friend and don't worry about your house. She's not there to see what kind of housekeeper you are and...this is my theory...if she sees your house is messy, then if you get to visit her, she'll be less worried about you coming to her house if her's is a little messy. I hae one other 'good' friend, but she's not quite a 'best' friend and that's my next door neighbor. Her house is in constant disarray, which is what elevates her from just next door neighbor to good friend status because I have a real sense of comfort around her. No matter how messy my house is, it's never going offend Rachel, that's for sure!! :lol3: OH!! And my gosh!! Welcome to the 180's!! What a nice milestone!! :high:
Thin: I'd keep both cats, too! The second kitty will give Muffin a sense of comfort and I anticipate them both sleeping together, etc. I mean, what's the difference after having one cat...you're already scooping poop from the litter box and dumping cat food in a bowl. Might as well be for two!!
Monet: :( I think you guys know how I feel about car problems. Hope all goes well for you. And congrats on the big number of steps!! :carrot: (anything to be able to use the carrot!!) And I can relate to the pay docking....Derek got docked a day or two for when we went to California. He was pretty sure he had the personal days to cover it, along with bereavement days. He's going to check into it...but it may (or may not :s: ) cut into my shopping day today. Not nice...No sympathy card from the company or comforting words, just, 'Hey! We see your mom died...let's cut your pay!!' Companies can be so cold. AND, I'm glad you had a nice 'show off' in your class today! Imagine the mother going to the office and signing up her kid because, "I really liked that art teacher!!" ;)
BOB: If I were closer, I have some great books I'd let you borrow. Hope you find some things to do while being housebound once again! In the meantime, :grouphug:
Laurie!: SOOOO nice to hear from you!! It sounds as though the job is going well? I know how you feel about the computer trashing your enthusiasm of getting on it at home. My last job I had I had to be on the phone with a headset taking people's computer problems and logging them into a program to be handled by higher level computer geeks. I hated askign permission to pee! Anyway, I was on the phone so much and talking, talking, talking. Ask anyone that knows me in person and I can talk and talk till the cows come home!! But with that job, I would cringe when the the phone rang at home, like, gawd...the last thing I wanted to do it TALK to people!! But it was a great job for me and I loved it!! Imagine getting paid to talk on the phone for a living!!
Cindy: You DO seem to go through some interesting busy phases at work! Here's hoping they lay off a bit and you get to relax a bit!!
Solly: Nice to see you're hangin' in there!!
Fillise: I make that SAME oatmeal...splenda, milk, blueberries and I toss in a handful of walnuts, too! I call it my 'deluxe' oatmeal.
Okay...how is everyone that has kids doing with getting costumes together? I'm going okay...I got Shelley a purpleish/pinkish taffeta dress at the goodwill shop yesteday. She wants to be a dead princess. Now I have to alter it a bit and buy her a tiara. Kyle is going as Darth Vader and has had the voice changing helmet since spring and the 'real' light saber. I just have to make him a black cape to go over his black sweats. Tonight we have a fundraiser dinner for preschool. You know...the frustrating thing is that it's a fundraiser and I wrote them a check on the 3rd for our October tuition and they still have yet to cash the darn thing!!
Well, off to get in the shower so I can go shopping!! I have to buy Kyle a winter coat. Shelley has two...one from the last two winters that still fits her, but she says, "It's old..." It's also a down-filled Columbia and if it fits, she's wearin' it, I told her. She also has one that I used to wear that is really, really pretty and it's too small for me and just right on her, but since it was mine, she's afraid it won't be stylish enough  But Kyle, ont he other hand, has had the same for two seasons and at his age, he's plain grown out of it!!
Talk to you guys later!

One more update on my new "kids". Last night we had them in our bathroom as I said. Well, Muffin used the litter pan before his sister, :carrot: just knew by instinct what to do. Then at 4am when dh got up for work he was batting a ball around while sister was still sleeping :lol3: It just cracks me up that he seems to be more mature and curious than she is! dh says he needs a more manly name than muffin  ! Sean and I were discussing it this morning and we thought of Chewie, he's orange, maybe a miniature chewbacca plus right now he likes to chew on everything. Then Sean suggested Jones because he likes to explore like Indiana Jones. I may try to come up with some kind of cute set of names for the two of them, but still manly of course of him! :p

okay...at this point, I'm just plain avoiding grocery shopping
THIN: How about Java and Bean? Ray and Charlotte ;) Or if you are trekkies, Geordie (remember him? The blind guy) and Diana (Counselor Troy). We are rather fond of bland names around here...our original orange kitty is named Tiger, the mother cat we named Mamacat, and her kitten who died had no tail and was named Bobcat! Our kids were more creative. The younger orange tabby is named Snidely Whiplash. The girls are all named after goddesses - Isis, Bastet, and Bendis. The kids also like Manga, so my son's two male cats that live with my married daughter are named Ketabi and Kabuki. Her cats are all weird names too. Unagi, Ahi, Uni, Sepia, and then the sauce named Bernaise and Roberd! I think the Japanese names are all Sushi fish. ( What can I say? My son in law is a chef! :lol3: )

good morning all. I was on SB 2 years ago and a member of this board when Debelli was a mod. I see there are a few names that I recognize from before.
anyway I eventually lost 10 lbs back then, but not even close to goal weight, and kinda fell of the SB wagon. I have tried off and on for the next 2 years but to no avail. Well I joined Curves last year and have noticed that I am getting toner but still no weight loss, so I am now going to go on the SB woe again. I know right before Thanksgiving and Christmas but I figure what the heck  if I can make it thru those 2 months than I know I can do it. :D

MORNING ALL YOU BUSTERS!!!
I'm home from the Hospital and my testing. The TECH said everything was normal, but of course, we still need to wait for the OFICIAL READING by the VASCULAR SURGEON. Lucky for me, it's my Surgeon of record (breast bx) and I trust him faithfully! I'll let y'all know the results.
Meanwhile, my DOC is going to start me on FLUID PILLS to get the retention down some. I'm waiting on him to call them in now.
Thanks to all for your GOOD THOUGHTS!! I know I can count on y'all for that and it means so much!
I"ll check back in after I talk to the DOC...

BOB: I am glad it is looking like its nothing serious! I get fluid retention some...and I am never sure what triggers it. Right now, I have some and I think its just plain the change of weather! :carrot: The dancing carrot is just because....
Like Tech, I am procrastinating! I made quiches for the guys for breakfasts, and forgot them in the oven. They are a bit overdone... I need to make some apple pies now. There are some things going on with some friends of ours that is making it hard to concentrate though. :( I need to go get busy!

What a visit. Isn't it amazing how you can see someone and pick right back up as if it was yesterday? Last time I saw Sara I was barely pregnant with Selah. Had just found out, actually, so about 3 1/2 years?
For lunch I made my famous Garbanz soup. People rave so much about that. It's almost embarasing. All it is is garbonzos with 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 T Cummin and 1T Chilli powder. I think it's the Sour cream and Cilantro as a garnish that really does it.
Also made a salad w/ field greens, mandarin oranges, purple onion, strawberrys, almonds and goat cheese. I bought a rotisserie chick to cut up on top and served it with Balsamic vinegar. If I wasn't so full I would go eat lunch again. It was wonderful!

Done grocery shopping and got it put away. Got Kyle his winter jacket...earlier than I thought I'd have to...but I got one of those cool ones that you can take out the liner and use it for a fleece jacket. Only $27!! I just LOVE Kohl's!! I also got him some really cozy footie pajamas with Buzz Lightyear. Oh, and then he just had to have a snoopy stuffed animal. I'm such a sucker...
And sometimes I'm just surprised what I come across at the deli counter. I found WW wraps made from stone ground wheat and have 1g of sugar in a half a wrap. I thought they would not only make great sandwiches, but I bet they'd do well as the quickie pizza that's on the front page of the recipe section!
I have a question...does anyone here eat Chinese noodles? My sister in law insisted I take some home with me from San Diego and I read the ingredients and it literally says: Green Beans, peas. That's it. I called my sister in law and asked her if this was a typo and we have a bit of a time understanding each other because she's Philipino. But I did get out of her that some Chinese noodles are made from rice, but some are made from beans. I read on the label that they have 0 sugar and 0 carbs. I'm just wondering what else is in there. MOst of the package is in Chinese! But my sister in law taught me how to make something called 'panset' and I gave it a whirl last night and, although it wasn't as good as Sally's, it was so good I couldn't stop eating it...and I just had the leftovers for dinner tonight!!
So, we were supposed to go to the Preschool fundraiser dinner tonight, but Kyle has been hacking his head off. He had quite a jag in the store today and I was holding him and he goes, "I know...it must be really sad to see me like this...." :lol3: He really does crack me up...like time someone told him he was cute and he says, "Yeah...chicks dig me..." and walked away. I really have him slated to be a comedian when he grows up...
Okay...off to get some grub for the kids, now that I've finished off the panset.

TECH: Are they cellophane noodles? If so, they are made from Mung beans, and essentially, are legal, though not a really low GI choice. I don't think it would hurt to have them now and then. I love that kind of noodle, and I will eat it occasionally...if I fix something its essential in. :)

Hello everyone. I am so excited to have found this forum. I will try to post as much as I can- although life with 2 small kids (and a hubby and fish... LOL) gets in the way a bit. I am from Upstate NY and I got the SB book from the library last week and decided to do it! I have been doing very well, and enjoy it very much so far. I feel more in control than I have in a long time.
A bit more about myself in relation to this forum- I put on a lot of weight (50 lbs) when I had my girls. I lost approx 20 pounds of that and toned up significantly by just upping my exercise, and then joined Weight Watchers. I lost about 10 more on WW, but then got REALLY stuck. For like a year! I had loads of trouble controlling myself with the things they say you can have in small portions- candy cookies etc. All the stuff I craved. So trying to have portion control with that stuff was like torture. I couldn't do it. So here I am. I had been getting so frustrated with my "lack of control" all year until I remembered a friend of mine doing very well with SB a while back. After reading the book it makes perfect snese to me that my problem is the sugar and bad carbs. I eat some, then crave more because of my insulin levels going nuts. Anyhow, I have found SB to be very exciting and I physically feel real good so far this week (been doing it since Sunday). I have 20 more pounds to go to get to the upper range of where WW suggested I should be. So that is my goal.
Thanks for listening- hope to "talk" with you all more soon. This sounds like a great place to be!!!

Good morning! I am up early. I slept great last night! Its so amazing what a good night's sleep will do for you!
I will be off to meet up with Talitha in a couple hours. Then the rest of the day will be crazy busy getting ready for movie night at the church tonight. It is a potluck too, and we will have a movie for the kids as well.
MUNCH: :welcome3: We are all very glad you are here! Sugarbusters is the healthiest diet out there, in my opinion, and so easy to follow! Congrats on your success so far. Jump right in. I think you will find this a wonderful, supportive group.
BOB: I am glad the doctor is pursuing it. Its best to find out what is causing it and correct it, then just leave it and hope it goes away. Wouldn't you agree? For a laxative, I highly recommend those sugarfree chocolates! :lol3:

MuncherMom--welcome! We can be a good support group here, and we talk a lot about dealing with our sugar addiction and how we eat to overcome it.
I am just checking in. I've had a cold and have felt rotten, and we are also leaving this afternoon for the WLOCP in Jacksonville. BOB can explain the letters and their significance for all of those who don't know what WLOCP means. It has something to do with Coctail Party and World's Largest and being outdoors--in the Gator bowl in Jacksonville. ;) Hopefully the Gators will beat the mutts this Saturday, but, sadly, I'm not counting on it. :(
Gotta go.

Gator failed to mention that MONET can explain it too. That is maybe because she doesn't want MONET to call her team the handbags, or suitcases....
The Georgia/Florida game is traditionally played in the Gator bowl in Jacksonville. There is SO much partying going on, half the fans on both sides end up too schnockered to know who won the game. It is called the WORLD'S LARGEST OUTDOOR COCKTAIL PARTY. My one experience of going to this debauchery was as a freshman at UGA. I sat right in front of the Georgia band. My comrades in arms happened to be my sister, and three of her friends. I was too young to drink, but had a little bit. The couple behind us was a mixed marriage...he was UGA, she was UF. The poor woman was drinking Wild Turkey and too much, probably to dull the pain of the suitcases crushing defeat that year. Anyway, she got horribly drunk, spilled half a bottle of Wild Turkey down the back of one of my comrades, and hopped up to scream, "Go Gators!" at inappropriate times. Lest you think I am slamming UF fans, there were plenty of drunk DAWG fans, but they were in a sea of red and black and NOT swimming among the gators, if you catch my drift. :) Anyway, the experience was so damaging to my gentle psyche, that I never went again. (that, and my sister graduated and I did not have a free ride anymore.) Into this riotousness, our dear GATORGAL and her Gatorguy are going. Ya'all pray for her...but NOT for her team to win. :s:

I started out to meet Talitha, and called her on her cell from my cell. After our discussion, we agreed to not get together for the sake of my time management and sanity and will try to get together next week instead. Good thing...I went to Costco for desserts and popcorn for tonight, then to Publix for drinks. I just got home! I would have been going crazy if I had driven down to the market. Its 30 to 45 minutes from my house there...and I don't mind the drive...today was just already stressful. I am going to go rustle up some lunch, then knit a bit before I have to head over and begin setting up for tonight.
Where is everyone? I am missing some folks: TONI, COUNTRY - where are you? PANCHO- I know where she is, but I still miss her! FILLISE- ditto.

:encore: You can't imagine the perfectly legal day I'm having today :carrot:
Breakfast...
Oatmeal with walnuts, frozen blueberries, milk and splenda
Lunch...
Ham on half a WW wrap with cheese, cukes, green peppers, lettuce and mustard/mayo. And I had an orange with it.
I'm also taking these vitamins...as per my doctor's advice (which was just about exactly what Monet suggested ;) )
Multivitamin
B complex (which gives me nuclear pee!! )
C
Calcium with D added
I was taking E, but the doctor said that there is a new thought of E that it contributes to heart attacks? So, I decided to finish off the bottle I have (I hate wasting them) and not take any more.
And...I was shopping yesterday and a fit/trim strapping young man checked me out (Not looking at me, he was the cashier...nobody "checks me out" anymore...least not that I know of...except my husband...;) ) and was all impressed that I had whey protien in the cart. He's like, "This yours?" and I'm like, "Yeah...it's mine..." And he asked, "Where did you get it?" and I said, "Over by the pads..." Well...it IS over by the pads with the Atkins stuff, I told him. Anyway, the look on his face was really funny. He must use protien for his 'bulking up' efforts. But obviously doesn't spend a lot of time in the pads section...
Okay...I'm making some decaf Constant Comment...it's that time to put away the crystal light iced tea and make the hot tea.

Good morning- whoops- afternoon! Thanx everyone for the warm welcome!!
Tech- I am in Buffalo! Not too far from Canada myself. About a half hour from the falls. I know what ya mean about the NYC thing. Everyone thinks we have never seen a blade of grass before when you say "I live in NY!" LOL!
Just got back from taking my preschooler to her field trip to the local pumpkin farm. Too cute. But the girl that was leading the tour wasn't too educated on what type of things tp present to 3 & 4 yr olds. She started it off with a bang (or should I say scream) when she greeted them all wearing a scary mask. Then after pumpkin painting (which was cute) she proceeded to show off their quite gross "graveyard" setup. The kids were all clinging to the parents, except for a few brave boys who were trying to kick over the "tombstones"! Good for a few laughs anyhow!!
:carrot: I really like this hip-thrusting carrot. Just had to use it for no apparently good reason. I am doing good on plan today so far. What kinds of things does everyone eat when out at restaurants? Not that I have a very busy "eating out" life, but I want to be prepared.
Talk some more later!! Munch(Monet- I liked that!)

Munch: You know that is going to be your nickname from now on  I grew up on the west side of Rochester in the town of Hilton. Now I live in the 1000 Islands...after one too many crying jags going back to Rochester after being on vacation up here. My husband is from Los Angeles and moved to Buffalo in the early 90s...in Cheektowaga. But that was his last life. He told me that he's always wanted to live an a little village he could go fishing in...so I said, 'have I got the place for you!!' and we moved here and have been here since summer 2000. We both met while working at Kodak. Hey, I wouldn't be a true Rochestarian if I hadn't worked there for a little while...I even got laid off from there!! As for NYC...I've never even been there. I don't know why...I just have never had a reason to and it's like...five hours away...and I can think of way more interesting, less dangerous places to go than NYC. My mom went there on her Senior trip (circa 1955) and did her flat-out best to convince us that we'd be mugged and killed if we ever went there. Hence, I get a little jumpy just talking about it. And...I always get miffed because the lotto winners are ALWAYS from NYC.
Anyhow...I finally got dressed at 1pm. I guess I got what my DD got on Monday (or whatever day it was she was home sick). I got a wicked headache and queasy stomach and had to lay down for a while. DS slept till 9:30 and is now a new little boy. He had the more horrible cough and I kept him home again from preschool. We'll reconviene on Monday when he dresses up as Darth Vader. I finally finished alterations on DD's 'dead princess' costume. It needed hemming and a little tightening around the upper torso (she wouldn't let me just stuff her with kleenex). Now I have to make a black cape for Kyle and we're good to go for Monday!!
Okay...talk to you guys later!!

Just finished lunch. My neighbor brought hers over and we ate together! :) She is off to pick up her daughter from school and I am chilling for a bit until I need to go to the church to set up. I ought to be knitting...
Not much exciting going on here.
MUNCH: I am glad you like the shortened version of your screen name. :) We tend to do that to speed up the typing. So, Gatorgal turns into Gator, Techwife is Tech, etc. I had a good laugh at the pumpkin patch story. That tour guide was probably used to older kids. I am a teacher, so I find the idea of the girls clinging to mom, and the boys trying to kick over the tombstones kind of funny. I might ought to clarify that a bit. I am an ART teacher, so that makes me weird. :)
TECH: And what are YOU going to dress up as? We have friends who put together an incredibly haunted house each year, and they have invited us to come help this year. I still have no idea what I will wear!

TECH- OK- I also grew up in Rochester. I know Hilton very well. My dad lived there for a few years. Only one signal light in the town- wonder if that's still the case. I grew up in the city, then we moved to the suburb of Greece. AND my hubby and I lived in Cheektowaga for 2 years after we first got married. Small world. Also (if that weren't enough) I have a new found relative that lives in Massena (near the 1000 Islands-) and have been visiting there a bit. It is so beautiful there, you are right! What a wonderful place to live!! Don't like NYC much either. For me, its even too stressful to visit. I was there 2 times- that was enough. :dizzy:

We had our Saturday morning espresso, and I am heading down for brunch when I finish this. Then we might go for a walk, then I need to head over to the art supply store and find a few odds and ends I need. Tonight, we are babysitting for a young couple in our church who live near here. Welcome Munch. You're going to love it here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I live in Missouri in a small rural town. Population 600. We have a mobile home 3 miles out of town right next to the river. Its about 50 today and beautiful with all the leaves turning. Had a crew out here this week and they put new windows in. I couldn't believe how fast they worked. By noon it was all done. Got my grocery shopping done Friday. This evening we're going to barbeque. Have to do that while we still can before that old man winter sets in. My eating has been awful and hopefully this week I can get a handle on it. I was sick the past couple of weeks so it was hard to stay OP for me. DH did allot of the cooking!!!! Well better get to that mountain of laundry awaiting me....

Welcome Munch. That was one of the things I was posting that I lost earlier. :)
60's here today so we are going to mow moms yard hopefully for the last time this season the taking her to dinner.
I did a no no and bought some macadamia nuts and cant keep from grabbing a few here and there. They are my down fall and thats why I dont buy them anymore so why did I today?
Monet - Today I got this organic flour by King Arthur flour. Says it is milled from organic red wheat and is not bleached or bromated ( does say on the front of the bag "all-purpose flour). It is white like regular flour . I mean you wouldnt know the difference looks just the same made a tad bit more not white in color. The ingrediants say"organic wheat flour, organic malted barley flour. Do you think this is legal? I want to make some oatmeal cookies and I hate using the WW flour , just makes them to heavy and I saw this and thought Id try. Of course I did not know what it looked like until I got home and opened the bag it came in. I guess I was expecting something different.

CINDY: If it is not 100% whole wheat, its not legal. That is all purpose flour, and has the bran removed in the milling process. It is healthier than bleached flour, but about the same actually. I can understand how you would find the whole wheat flour heavy in cookies, as I agree totally. Whole wheat pastry flour might work better, as it is milled from softer wheat.
BOB: I noticed the Dawgs were not doing well. I am not surprised. Without Shockley to QB, and Tereshinski, or whatever his name is, starting for the first time, well, I did not expect too much.
I just got in from a run to Dick Blick art supplies for school . I found out they are part of the organization that gives schools a discount, so I got it for the supplies I needed. Yay! Since I am a teacher, I get a discount too. Too cool!
On the way home, we stopped at Fresh Market. Its interesting, but I like Whole Foods better. I got a rotisserie chicken for dinner, they had about five different flavors, and I got a white wine and herb flavored one. I can't wait to try it and see if its any good. It was only $1 more than Costco, but the chicken looks smaller. My neighbor, who was with me, got some whole wheat rolls. I found some wheat free crackers to try, but they sure were expensive! :(
Off to get some stuff done before we have to babysit.

Morning! I have been up for a few hours, but was fixing espresso, and breakfast. I made a breakfast casserole with brown rice bread, and it had a weird texture. I did not mind it, but Tom was not crazy about it. :) I am on my third cup of coffee and beginning to feel awake.
Tom is making lots of 'lets go for a walk' noises, so that will probably happen soon. I kind of don't feel like it right now...but I guess that is not a good attitude.
We babysat last night. Easy job. They put the baby down at 7 right after we got there, and we never even heard a peep out of him. We watched Miss Congeniality 2, which was cute, but no where near as good as the first one. We also had popcorn, and though it was good, I felt really bad eating it. The past week has been worse than the week before, and I am NOT going to weigh tomorrow. :) I know it will be bad. Instead, I am going to re-read Rosedale, the chapter on the Leptin diet, and try and psyche myself up to get back on the program and quit messing up. I know I can't tolerate wheat, so I need to quit eating anything with wheat as well. You all keep me accountable.....
Ok, off to get some street clothes on. I can't walk in my nightgown! :)

Hello from a very happy GatorGal. :) :) :)
It's amazing how bad a poodle can look when beaten by a handbag. Almost took the hide off the ole mutt. :)
OK, OK, that's all I will say, (still smiling), but I will tell you about our party in the parking lot at the WLOCP. The game started at 3:30 pm. We have gone to the UF/UGA game for years in Jax. I would always bring some good food, and our friends we stay with would also. In fact, she would cook all week, fixin' stuff that was go-o-od. Often the husband would take his Weber grill and we'd fix ribs or chicken, or whatever. Anyway, her 3 sons grew up there in Jax. attending the annual tailgate before the game. Now, they are all grown and they run the tailgate party. And it has gotten better, if you can even imagine that. They rent two port-a-potties and bring them in on a small flatbed truck. They rent about 18 parking places, one for the generator. They bring in a huge TV and a bunch of tents. Then they cook: roasted oysters, low country boil (shrimp, sausages, potatoes, corn and spices). there are baked beans, hot dogs and burgers. Fried chicken, all kinds of salads and dips, chips, etc. Lots of good desserts. Several kegs and every kind of booze a well stocked home cabinet would have. Someone even brought a huge flat of strawberries and whipped cream for dunking. It was all g-o-o-d. On the way to the game you have to drive down a main road, alongside of which are parked lots of Dawg fans. They are pretty bad, to put it politely. One year one of them had a mechanical hand, a big one, with a mechanical finger that would go up and down as Gator cars came by. You can get the idea. Many have toy gators on ropes and they throw them out in the street so your car would run over them. Har, har, really funny. I mean, GROWNUPs are doing this!! Everyone is screaming either "Go Gators!" or they are "barking" and yelling "hunker down dawgs".Once when we were walking to the game a bunch of UGA folks surrounded my DH and in unison bagan barking at him. Har har, it was weird. Even the women "bark." There are a lot of rude T-shirts being sold. Many, not just by UGA fans but at other schools we play, spend a lot of effort being "Gator Haters" rather than fans FOR their own school. The Gator T-shirts had mostly to do with "owning" Georgia, since we've won 12 out of the last 14 now. UGA still leads the series by 9 games. The grossest T-shirt I saw was a pro-UGA one and had a detailed drawing of a bulldog's backside, from the rear view, with all anatomy included. And, as usual, groups of cheerleaders from various local school go around and solicit money if they do a cheer for your team. Our friends told us that the RV lot started filling up this past Wednesday. So, for everyone who has never been to the WLOCP, you can see that it is serious business. We had a lot of fun, but it definitely is more fun when your team wins.
To get into the game you had to get what I call "felt up." They were not just checking purses, jackets, etc. but they had separate lines for men and women. They would paw you all over to make sure you were not sneaking something (I don't know what) into the game. It was horrible! I was disgusted and I HATE any stranger touching me!!!!! It makes me a bit angry and prejudiced against the people who bomb others. They are causing all the rest of us to go through disgusting things like this!!
Re. the game, the stadium is divided exactly in half, with the UGA fans sitting on the east side this year, and the Gator fans on the west. Flying over in an airplane, anyone could see the stark contrast--Red and black vs. Blue and orange. Of course, there are always a few UGA fans in the Gator section and vice-versa. There was PLENTY of drinking outside the stadium and so I'm sure there were people in those stands that were drunk, but I really didn't see any problems in the area I was in, about 55 rows up on the 30 yd. line. Oh, did anyone see me? I was wearing orange! :) Anyway, everyone was very good natured, and there were even a coupleUGA fans 2 seat down from me. My DH went around the parking lot before the game and took pictures of some of the crazy things going on. I'll check through his pix later and if there is anything unbelievably amazing, I'll post it later. The weather was COLD, and my friend and I left near the end of the 3rd quarter to go inside the club section to warm up and watch almost the whole 4th quarter on TV. We went back out for the grande finale. :)
Now that I gave a detailed picture of a very unique event, I will say that my eating was terrible. I had a rum and diet coke, and some wine, and some chips and dip, and some cake, and, and, and. Today is a new day. I'm back on the wagon.
BOB-- We read about the UT-USC game. We were at a restaurant so did not get to see the game. My heart is with ya, gal. How terrible. First the dawgs kicked your guys at home, and I hope you got some solice out of our kicking the mutts around a little for you. And now the Visor man disrespected your place! We play them up at USC in 2 weeks. Will you pull for us to teach him a lesson? He needs to be taught a little humility! If you watched the UF-UGA game you saw that the Gators don't have much offense, which will be a HUGE disadvantage against Darth Visor. But, thankfully, we had more than the curs. I guess that's all ya need. SOS's defense always was an overwhelming offense. Just score, score, score. Y'all kept him reined in a little bit, but I'm so sad to see that your offense is almost Gator-like in its non-existence. So keep pulling for us to get some retribution for them thar' Vols!!! I see y'all play ND next week. Wishing you much luck.
Fillise--In the same vein--you all can be the spoiler by beating the Dawgs when y'all play. It should be a great game. I'll be pulling for the Tigers!!!!
OK, I've written a ton about football. It's that time of year, ya know. But I did do a lot of studying on French on Friday and Thursday. I just have to review and memorize before my class tomorrow night. I also have to get back out there walking. My cold finally left me Friday night and I am feeling much better. So am ready to ramp up with the exercise. So I will be out there trying to get my 10000 steps in every day. And eating right. I think I want to wear a St. John knit dress at my DD's wedding in March, so need to really watch it if I don't want to look like a battleship. :)
Well, I'm gonna go. It's nice to see all the chatter while I was gone. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Loved your post Gator. Made me feel like I was there. Its rained today and I've stayed in cozy warm still in my robe. Making beef tips, brown rice and a salad for dinner. Tomorrow I get up bright and early to go get my flu shot. Hope everyone has a nice evening....

Good evening everyone. Just finished carving pumpkins with my girls and eating too many pumpkin seeds. I tried putting chili powder on one batch- yum. Very good! I hope I can control myself now.
We had a sad thing happen tonite also. One of my kids' hamsters died. well, they were devastated and crying their eyes out. It was so sad. Me, on the other hand, was not quite so sad. I hate to admit it though- I feel like a bad mom. When I found the hamster, I was like "finally!" They are getting old, and are not the best pets for young kids because they are nocturnal. By the time they wake up and my girls can actually see them moving, its time for my girls to go to bed. So I comforted my girls while trying to hide the relief behind my guilt-ridden eyes!!
BOB- I was all wide eyed this morning too- the change of time always makes me confused (doesn't take much  )
MONET- MMMMM espresso. One of my favorite things. I have a couple frriends who cannot tolerate wheat either. I know I am new here, but you can count on me for support for anything! I read up on the leptin diet a while ago- makes total sense. Describes me to a T as well.
GATOR- Wow! Sounds like a BLAST! I am in Buffalo and a Bills fan- although not going to as many games as I would like ($$$$)
TONI- I have been in my robe all day (except for going to church!!) I love this cool weather, I gotta admit. I am a homebody at heart and it gives me an "excuse" to cuddle up at home without feeling like I'm missing something ouside!!
Well, I am having a glass of merlot and the Bills game is about to start on TV> One thing that that is hard for me is snacking during watching tv (especially football!!!) It was always something (before I cared that I looked like a linebacker) that my hubby and I would do- curl up, watch football and pig out on chips and dip, nachos and cheese, etc etc. Now that I have been trying to lose weight for a while now, I am more careful about what I eat, but even eating healthy stuff late at night is ssuch a downfall for me!!! Sooo.... I am gonna nurse my 1 glass of wine and not eat ANYTHING because I certainly had my overdose of pumpkin seeds earlier. The kitchen is CLOSED.
Hope everyone had a great day. Talk to ya tomorrow. G'nite!
