Here are the week's CHALLENGES:
1. Do something nice for yourself.
2. Drink your water, get in three or four days of exercise and POST it.
3. Come up with a plan for the upcoming holidays...lets start with Halloween. Share ideas, suggestions, whatever to help others get through it and stay on program.

Good Morning! Its beautiful, cool and all that stuff outside. I slept poorly so I am not in a tip top mood. I did weigh, and I was down 1/2 pound, which actually showed up during the week after I lost the water weight. I would have loved to see more, but I will take it. The 1/2 pounds as long as they are consistent, add up, and are better than no loss for sure!
I am going to throw on some clothes in a bit, have breakfast, then go over to Wally world to get a box fan if they have them...and get some walking in while I am there.
THIN: I use Designer Whey protein. As you may have noticed, I am very anti-soy from doing research on it, and finding plenty to be concerned about. I finally got my biochemistry major husband to look at it too, and now he is anti-soy as well! You can get all kinds of flavors of the Designer Whey, and they do have chocolate. They also have a chocolate peanut butter caramel flavor that is pretty good too. I often just use the natural, and add cocoa. To save on calories, and since I am sensitive to dairy, I just use water, and it works great. On those supplements: I take Coenzyme Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Acetyl L-Carnitine. I have heard the Carnitine is best absorbed in the Acetyl L-Carnitine. You can find good prices on all those, including the whey, at VitaCost, or VitaGlo on line. Another one I would highly recommend for you and your kids is Cod Liver Oil. The Carlsons they sell at VitaCost is a bit pricey, but its the best. It is very high in Omega 3 fatty acids, which is very helpful for metabolic problems. You ought to read the book, Mastering Leptin. Metabolic Syndrome is caused by Leptin inbalance in the metabolism. This guy has done incredible research and really goes into detail about how the metabolism works, and how it gets unbalanced. It was very really interesting, and my husband, the biochemist, gave it a thumbs up. (and he is really hard to please..he usually picks that kind of stuff apart...like the Blood Type diet he totally slammed!) On the bike bum problems, I think they make wide seats...check at a bike shop.

Sorry I haven't been on as much lately. I'm gearing up to go for Area Manager this month and next. It's going to be alot of work, so I may not be on as much this month.
Camping was GREAT! Eating was not...
I've picked up a bit of a cold, too. I weighed this morning and was only up 1 lb. WIth what I ate this weekend, I expected much worse.
I'm going to the Y in an hour. I've decided not to do the water arobics today. I'm worried that I will make my cold worse. Normally I'm not so cautious, but I am going to an Arbonne conference in Louisville Kentucky on Thursday. I really don't want to go sick and there's no way I would skip it at this point.
I started my training program for Professional Nutrition Specialist Certification. I did my first test, and I'm pretty sure I'll get an A. I have to mail in my answers today. It was simple. The one thing I see, looking forward in the textbook, is that they are pretty strict on following dietary guidelines. They have a chart towards the middle of popular diet plans and what's wrong with them. Their only negative about SB was 'lack of social support'. They don't know about our group, obviously :)
Alright, gotta get the kids ready for the Y. Jake started waving Bye-bye and walking pushing the toy shopping cart this weekend. He turned 9 months old yesterday. I'm not readyf or him to be such a big boy :( He's eating like crazy. For breakfast yesterday he ate a whole servign of oatmeal, a whole avacado and 1/2 cup of peaches. Crazy!!
CHALLENGES:
My something nice for myself is going to KY. I love my kids more than anything, but this will be my first 2 nights without kids in 3 years. I'm looking forward to just being with the girls and not thinking about changing diapers. I'm hoping it will be a nice break and I'll come beck missing my babies so much that I'll love them even more.
Drinking my water is never a problem for me. I seem to forget to post when I exercise, so I will work on that.
Honestly, I don't want to do holloween. We did it last year and it was miserable. Maybe because I was so pregnant, and Selah was too little to know what was going on. I'm really tempted to just take the kids to chickfila to play on the playground that night, just to avoid any other options.

Monet-Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to look around and see what protein powders and supplements I can find! We have a couple of good health foods stores locally, so I'll look there then go online if I'm unsuccessful!
For challenges- Drinking water has always been a challenge for me. I was born with only one kidney and it has always functioned well. My mom forced me to drink water when I was young and I guess that's why I don't care much for it now. :^: I realize how important it is, I just don't really like it. I need to get over it and drink more!
Something nice for myself, hhmm, I guess I did that last week. I found three new shirts on clearance and actually bought them. I'm one of those moms who always buys for the kids and not myself! ;)
For Halloween my mother in law always goes all out with the decorating and dressing up. She has everyone over to her house after trick or treating for a get-together. Last year and again this year we've gone in together and bought stickers, tatoos, and small toys for the kids treat bags since they already have so much sugar form their loot bags! :p Usually she has hot dogs and chili and we all take something. Last year the kids and I make a sandwich snake. Make what ever kind of bread dough you like, homemade/ frozen whatever. Stretch it out into a large rectangle and layer with ham, turkey, cheeses whatever you like. Roll it up and lay it on a baking pan. Make one end pointed to be the tail and one end more round for the head. Bake as you would for loaf of bread, or till golden brown. we used olive slices for eyes and a strip of red pepper for a tongue. It was very cute and something to counter act all the suger they had already had!

Good Morning Ladies,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was busy.
Eating was not good. I did weigh, paid the piper, so to speak. So I think I have my head on straight and getting serious. I did get my treadmill in this morning. That is a start. I have a 2 mile + walk planned for tonight.
Monet, on the Leptin diet, it says have protein for bf. Can you have a starchy carb with that protein, i.e., egg with toast? Hope you feel better later in the day.
Talitha, have fun on your conference. It is nice to get away sometimes. Makes everyone appreciate everyone a little more.
I don'thave trouble with the water so I'm good there. I will get my 3-4 days of exercise in too. SOmething nice for myself. Well I'm ahead of the game. I shopped a lot this weekend and got about 4 new outfits so that is my nice thing. Also I am getting some new tennis shoes sometime this week.
My tip for Halloween. I only buy candy that I hate. That way, if it is left over (which usually doesn't happen) I don't like it. If I see I have a lot left as the night wears on, I start giving out more to each kid just to get rid of it.
Have a great day. I'm off to read what I missed over the weekend.

I was really dreading weighin but I got a pleasant surprise I was back down to 162. A year ago I would never have thought of being back down to 162 it would have been back up to. :) I'm really concerned with the winter months coming since that is when I gain most of my weight and then have to lose it again. I'm really making a game plan to watch what I eat and move more this winter. My neighbor loves the cold so hopefully we will get to walk.
Monet...thank you for starting the board and posting challenges each week. It's a blessing.
Solly...wtg getting your walking in.
Talitha...have fun on your trip. And try not to miss the kiddos too much. :)
Thin...what a cute sandwich idea.
We are headed out to help mom clean out her fridge today. The one that sits outside went a little too long without electricity the other day. Praying each of you has a great on plan week.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

Flying by...I weighed again after sitting in the reading room for a while and I was down another 1/2 pound, so that makes a whole pound! Woo hoo! What a pleasant MMM surprise!
I have two apple cakes in the oven for tonight...I baked two pans of brownies last night. I did eat one brownie...but they are not at all tempting me. The apple cake MAY be a different story. Its my mother's recipe and an old family favorite. It smells divine too! I have had a taste for apples lately anyway, since its apple season.
Breakfast was a smoothie with strawberries, made with water and 1.5 scoops of protein, and two cups of coffee with half and half.

OOHHH! Apples sound good! My husband works in Ellijay Ga. It is like Apple central this time of year. I'm sure he will bring home plenty of healthy apples, but unfortunately he likes to bring home apple fritters, bread, pies and anything else he can find as well!
Ellen

The apple cakes are out of the oven and they smell divine. I think I will wait on my trip to Wally world...though I am not sure. I have so much to do! And its gotten so late so fast! :(
THIN: I LOVE driving up to Ellijay to get apples! Just tell that man of yours NO fritters, pies, or bread! Tell him to bring you the fresh apples and YOU will make him healthy baked apple goodies. I have a legal apple cake recipe that is really good... and you can make ww pie crust and make pies too. :) A friend of mine went up there last week and got some apples..she is going in a week or so to get a bushel of Arkansas blacks, and promised to bring me some of them, and some Romes. Check out the recipes on here for some ideas for baking with apples...

Good morning chickies:
Glad to see some posts this a.m.
Hmmmmm....where to start. MMM - I was at 119.5# this morning, and that was after eating a Kit Kat at midnight. Yes, midnight, and I even had Only 8 yogurt earlier in the evening. The reason I was up at midnight was that I took Britt to the ER. Her cough has only gotten worse over the past 6 weeks, and she was coughing to brutally that she threw up twice (everything in her stomach). She was having a hard time breathing and couldn't sleep. They took a chest x-ray, which I was wholeheartedly against, but they had to rule out pneumonia, which they did. She had some rattling and wheezing though, so they want her to take prednisone for 5 days (which I am still contemplating), and do breathing treatments. They said she had reactive airway, which is basically asthma symptoms. She didn't sleep well at all last night, and I only got about 4 hours. I am kinda shaky and dizzy this morning.
CANDY TIP: For Halloween, we go trick-or-treating with my sister and her kids. BUT once we get home, my children combine their candy together, and we take all the chocolate and put it in the freezer (they are allowed to have one of these per day). They also get to pick out a few of the other things they like (M&M's, skittles, etc...). We then take the rest and put it in a bag/box and donate it. You can find a local military office and take it to them, and they will send the candy to the troops in Iraq/Afghanistan. The soldiers really like to have that on hand. My kids learn about sharing with eachother, as well as sharing with others (by donating).
We unpacked all of our Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff yesterday, and I am getting into the Fall mood. I wish our weather was  .
Today, we will be going to get Britt's prescriptions filled, and then run a few errands, and then home to rest some more. She goes back to school tomorrow and I want her to be feeling better.
THE FALL & WINTER MONTHS ARE APPROACHING, AS WELL AS ALL THE TEMPTATIONS.....MAKE A PLAN TO STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF, AS WELL AS ALLOWING YOURSELF A FEW INDULGENCES, SO YOU DON'T FEEL DEPRIVED. IT IS TRULY A TOUGH TIME OF THE YEAR TO STAY OP, BUT WE CAN DO IT!
BOB: Is everything alright with Jack? It's not like her to just disappear like that! How are you doing today?
Monet: a pound is a pound...congrats! Sorry you didn't sleep too well. I can definately relate to that. Is the Designer Whey Natural made with whey protein isolate only? You said it was lactose free, right? Does it have artificial sweeteners in it? I am trying to find a bare basics protein powder with whey protein only and no artificial sweeteners that I can throw into a smoothie. I found one, but it said not to add to juices; it will counteract the effectiveness. YUM, apple pies! Any word from Teensy?
Thin: A note on Carnitine. The Acetyl L-Carnitine is better for memory than other things. The best one for energy and possible weight loss is Carnitine Tartrate (that got me over my stall a year or so ago). Bricker Labs makes a liquid carnitine that is supposed to be great. You should check out the book, The Carnitine Miracle. It has some great info. in it about Carnitine. It can lower your triglycerides as well as many other things. I can relate to not ever buying anything for myself. I had to lose 30#'s before I allowed myself to buy some clothing for myself; now I do it from time to time, without feeling guilty. That snake sandwich sounds cute. Congrats on the loss.
Talitha: Good luck with meeting your goal. I'm glad you only gained 1#; all that working out kept that metabolism up for you while away. Wow, that's great that Jake is eating so well; he must be growing. I have never been away from my kids for one night, but would give anything for a quiet relaxing weekend away...alone. I had a friend who (at the time) had twins that were 15 months old, and a new baby. She checked into a resort by herself and spent the whole weekend there, while her DH stayed home with the kids. Enjoy the conference. Your kids are so young, they wouldn't even miss Halloween. Once they start school, and all their friend are "doing it," then they feel like they are missing out on something. No-one really needs the candy anyway, and Chic-Fil-A sounds like a great alternative.
Solly: Good job sweeping your bad eating weekend under the run, and jumping on that TM today. I hope you have a great OP day.
Country: Congrats on being back at 162#'s. That's great. I hear you about the winter months; it is truly a challenge for us all.
Well, I gotta run!

Pancho- My daughter had bronchitis a few years ago and was coughing up blood because her lungs were so irritated. I had pneumonia two years ago and from our experience the prednisone and breathing treatments made a big difference in how we felt and how fast we recovered. Of course we also were on antibiotics. Rachel would cough so hard she gagged and it seemed instantly better once she got on the medication. I think she took the prednisone for only 5 days too, not any long course or anything. I think most of the bad side effects come from long term use.

OH YEAH! I just got in from Wally World...I did not find the box fan I was looking for, but I DID find such a steal on markers and crayons! I was whining about someone sniping my 24 boxes of 24 crayola crayons that I had $10 on...and I got Crayola crayon 24 box for 21 cents each! I also got the bold color markers for 85 cents! They are usually $3 a pack. I got 12 of each of those, which ought to cover my supply needs for crayons and markers for a while.
Ok, off to work on the dinner.

Just taking a break from cooking. I'm making some chicken and dumplings for the gang.
Poncho....I'm so sorry your little one is feeling poorly. Zachary had the reactive airway problem when he was 4 months old. His last bout was when he got exposed to some heavy smoke. My nieces and nephews all have ashma and when it gets really bad they take the predisone. It really helps the lungs to get stronger so you don't relapse. Last time Zach was on it I thought he was going to eat me out of house and home...LOL Congrats on the scales being back down.
Monet...woo hoo on the bargain. We went to Wal-Mart the other day and they had a 6 pack of canning jars with the sure jell marked down to 1.00 normally 9.94. By the time we left the store we had to pack the little ones in the car like sardines to fit all the jars in. :) Even though it's not legal I'd love your mama's recipe.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

I'll check back later.

What a day!!!
I've been on the phone and emailing all afternoon. I think I drummed up some pretty good sales, though.
I did 30 minutes cardio at the Y amd my 30 minute weight circuit. Felt good, but I think I need to add weight. I don't meet with the trainer again until next Wednesday.
Country- What a deal!!! Jars do get expensive. I jsut got a box with about 20 jars from a friend. I'm so excited!
Monet- Do you think there is any nutritional benefit to using the preasure cooker? I'm thinking about getting one. I'm trying to plan a day up in gwinnet next week. Maybe Thursday or Friday. You wanna get together for coffee or something? I'm trying to save gas, so I am going to try to visit clients up there all in one day. I;ll need a break at some point :)
Pancho- Hopefully they won't have as much preasure from other kids since we will be homeschooling. I'm not totally against holloween. I just know that last year after how miserable it was, I had this stupid bag of candy on top of my refrigerator until Febuary when I FINALLY threw it away. We hadn't even eaten a fourth of it! I like the donating idea. I might spread that around to my friends, see if we can get more to send.

Howdy:
I gotta get dinner started soon and get the kids bathed, but thought I'd check in.
We were finally able to track down the meds for Britt's breathing treatment; no-one seemed to have them in the individual units like prescribed, so we will be starting those tonight, along with the prednisone...I guess.
We just did that and ran to the outlet mall for awhile and then came home to rest. I am beat and can't wait to sleep tonight, altho I will probably be up every 4 hours giving Britt her breathing treatments.
Thin: Thanks for the info. The prednisone dose is for only 5 days, so it shouldn't have any long term effects. I am glad to hear of you and your DD personal experience with it.
Monet: Great deal on supplies. Target had some awesome deals at the beginning of the school year, so I stocked up! They had 10 spiral notebooks for $1, 10 colored folders with pockets for $1, crayons for a quarter, 3-pack glue sticks for a quarter, etc.. It's great to find a bargain like that.
Country: Thanks for the info. on the prednisone and your son's experience with it...that is good to know.
Bob: (((((HUGS)))))!
Gotta go!

Ok, I know you all are getting tired of the supplement questions but I just have one more... I found the C Q10 with carnitine, chromium and alpha lipoic acid today are there any of these that should not be taken at the same time or at the same time as other meds?
For supper tonight we tried a new recipe. It was in one of my low carb cookbooks. It was good!:hun: It was for when you are missing hambuger helper. It had ground turkey, onion, bell pepper, celery, tomato sauce, and cheese along with spices. We added ww pasta and really liked it. I will post the recipe when I have a chance.
Well, I need to go get Rachel from dance!

I just got in from the church. Dinner went fine. I served the casserole...good thing too. There is one or three fellas that would take four or five servings to start with if allowed. I am very close to 10k steps, so I think I already have them. I put the pedometer on later this morning, and I had been cooking some in the kitchen which is worth at least 1000 steps! :)
Tom just informed me I need to go fix smoothies and stuff...grrrr. I kind of hoped he would get it done since I had this dinner. I think it may be my imagination, but he seems to get more and more helpless as time goes on!

Good Evening.
Its been a great day. I really did good on my eating today . Keeping my all numbers very low. Im trying to really keep it low this week since Im leaving on vacation Sunday and I know Ill be eating out. Anyone have ideas for things I can take to eat in a cooler? Ive got yogurt, apples, oranges, tuna and ww crackers, nuts, protein bars... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping to eat breakfast & snacks ( breakfast can be simple for me..like the yogurt and fruit) out of the cooler, maybe have salad out for lunch and then a normal dinner.
Monet- 1/2 is great. That seems to be my magic number. Thats what I lost as of last Friday. But your right they all add up.
whoops I just read you lost another 1/2 today... see they do add up ;)
Talitha- Have a safe trip this week.
Thin & Solly- I might have to follow suit and go out clothes shopping for myself :)
Crystle- Great news on your weigh in. Its always nice when Its better than what we expect.
Nat- Hope Britt is doing better. Thats a great idea you have with the candy and your kids donating some of it.
I do the same as Solly, I buy candy I dont like that way Im not tempted to eat any. And I buy just enough to fill this big bowl I have and when Its gone my porch light goes off so I usually never have any around.
Do something nice for myself. Well the shopping sounded good lol but I am going Saturday to have my hair rehighlighted and cut and thats a pretty nickel so Ill consider that my treat for myself this week !
And water and exercise is always a priority.
Off to get my stuff ready for the morning. Have a great evening ! :)

TALITHA: Any day but Tuesday and Wednesday ought to work for me. :) As for the pressure cooker, I don't know if its benefits are nutritional, though they say it retains more nutrients...not sure if I believe that. The benefit that is most impressive is its time saving properties! I can cook chicken breasts to make chicken salad in less than 15 minutes. Beef stew in 15 minutes.. brown rice in 15 minutes. You can cook dry beans in less than 30 minutes... I made chicken noodle soup in it in less than ten minutes. Its an amazing piece of cookware. If you get one, you want a Fagor brand, I like the Splendid, and get at least a six quart. They have them on Amazon for a good price. When you get one, let me know. I use mine almost every night and I have some great recipes I have found so far! :) I don't mind driving to meet you, but you know you are welcome to come here, or whatever works for you. Let me know!
CINDY: Your avatar looks great! Where are you going on vacation? How about hard boiled eggs? Almond butter? Fruit? You can get those little containers of unsweetened applesauce...they are good. How about string cheese?
COUNTRY: You want my mom's recipe for apple cake? Ok. I will PM it to you. :)
off to surf a bit before its time to crawl in bed!

Monet, we are spending one day/night in Cleveland , my friend and her dh live there and we will pick them up the next day and then heading to Niagara falls. Im the only one of the 4 of us that hasnt been there. We are staying right across the street from one of the casinos ( so Im sure we will be checking that out at night). We will probably only be gone 3-4 days . But Im looking forward to it. And pending on time we may head up to Michigan. Dh really wants to go to Cabelas. He says it will take us all day to just go through the store LOL. Oh Im so looking for to looking at hunting/fishing stuff :dizzy:
Thanks for the ideas. Im added them to my list !
Heading to bed now. Night all.

I'm back from the panhandle where my DF lives and my DSis's and I got my DF all fixed up. His computer was on the fritz and we hired someone to come and de-bug it and get it up and running again. Same for his hearing, hearing aid and ear problems.
I started my new French class tonight and it is going to be good. There are 5 other people in the class and it is the largest class I've been in at this French Alliance association. This Sunday the Alliance Française is having a fall picnic that will be catered. They will also play petanque, which is the game you sometimes see old Italian men playing in films. The French play the same game, and it actually is a lot of fun. Something like European horseshoes, except with heavy metal balls.
My suggestion for halloween candy problems are:
1. Decide beforehand what your plan is. If you make no plan and just try to "tough" it though, you will fail, probably.
2. Buy candy you don't like and give it all away, even if you have to give half a bag to the last kid that comes by.
3. Or decide to not participate in the candy begging tradition. Just turn off your front lights, turn off the lights in the rooms in the front part of your house, so that everything is dark, and then go back to your bedroom, close the blinds and read, knit or something.
4. We have done all of the above. Normally we are out of town at the Ga-Fla game that weekend, as we will be this year, so we will miss it. But if halloween falls on a Mon, Tues, Wed, or Thurs, we do #3 above.
5. If you don't have any candy you don't like, give out something non-edible: money, toothbrushes, or something you've found at the dollar store.
I didn't weigh today. The weekend was too "eaty" so I will wait until next Monday.
I got my new car today. My old one was a Toyota Celica convertible, 15 years old. My new one is also a convertible. I'm addicted!! It's amazing the change in the power in the motor, brakes, suspension, etc. in 15 years.
Well, gotta go. Have a great evening all my SB buddies.

Good morning! I slept much better last night..though I am not entirely sure why. I did not eat properly yesterday at all! I snacked, and ate late. I intended to start today out right, but so far, I have not been too good. I had leftover chicken casserole for breakfast, along with a leftover piece of apple cake! Add coffee with half and half to that breakfast menu...
I spent some time yesterday reading in Mastering Leptin. Its such an interesting book, and makes so much sense. Its pretty detailed however, and my poor brain does not have a scientific bent to it. Its great having a husband who does...but the competitive spirit in me hates that he understands it better than I do! What a mess I am! I read the chapter on how leptin works with the female hormones. Interestingly, the endometrium, and ovaries have leptin receptors, which indicates that leptin plays a role in the reproductive cycle. He went into detail on how an imbalance of leptin causes endometriosis, PCOS, and other problems. He did not mention fibroids...wish he had.
Today, I want to run by WalMart..AGAIN...and get a few things I forgot yesterday. I need to pick up some yarn to make a baby blanket for a friend to give his new nephew. This friend is like an adopted son, so I offered, and he was so pleased. I have met his sister, and so it will be a present from both of us. Also, tonight, our daughter and son in law are coming over for dinner...to finally celebrate our son in law's birthday. (we are a month late!) I need to fix his requested meal...enchiladas. I need to get the stuff I need to fix them. I have a class today from 2 until 3, so its going to be a busy day! At least I now have three of four weeks for school planned, so it should not be too stressful now.
I better get going...I will check in later if I can!

Ok...well...I'll be scarce, to say the least, for a couple weeks. I don't know if I've gotten into it much here, but my MIL has had a terminal brain tumor since about July 2004. After many brain surgeries and chemo, everythings come back and as of yesterday, she's not eaten since Thursday and she's in a coma and fighting a bad fever. I don't expect her to last the day. So, off we go to California. Bittersweet. I've always, always wanted a mother in law almost as much as I've wanted a husband and now that I finally get to go to California...I'll be saying hello and goodbye to her for the first time. :( My mom and dad are coming to take care of the kids so my DH and I can take the train from NY to CA which, I have to admit, I'm really looking forward to! My DH wants to take that time to sit and be with just me with no toys or food being thrown at us and fights, etc that go along with having the kids around. Not that we won't miss them...too much...but this going to be a nice time for my DH to sit and contemplate on the way there and back about his mom and all that and to come to grips with it all. That's why we're taking the train and not the plane...also because my DH is really petrified of flying and doesn't want the added stress of it added to his trip there for his mom's funeral. This will also be my DH's final goodbye, not only to his mom, but his roots in CA. It's his 'home', but he said he always hated living in LA and never plans to go there again after this trip. It will definitely be an emotional trip for him...and me, too. I cry at the end of most Disney movies...I'll definitely have to pack lots of tissues in my purse and won't bother with mascara. So, some emotional weeks lay ahead for our family...all your prayers would be greatly appreciated that my DH and his brothers handle things to the best of their abilities and all goes smoothly. I'll be in touch after I get back and let you all know how the train trip there was and how much illegal food I ate. My DH said that no matter how illegal it is, I WILL be having a 'double-double' at In and Out Burger. And some sort of famous hot dog. I'll be seeing where he went to High School, the studios he and his mom both worked in (they both worked on the set of the Golden Girls, my MIL as a seamstress and my DH worked on the props, etc) and he'll show me Hollywood and all his old stomping grounds. That part should be fun, at least. We'll also be going to San Diego to see where his brother lives and stay with them for a night.
I'm pretty sure we're leaving on Thursday and will be in and out until then, but if I suddenly drop off the face of the Earth, you guys will know what happened to me. I should be back on the 17th or so.
Say a prayer for us,
Kris

Good Morning Ladies
Our walk plans got changed last night. DH had to stay at work and was late getting home and did not feel like walking. So I worked out awhile. Just did a lot of different things. It was a mismatched workout, but better than nothing. This morning I got my :Tread: in Hopefully, tonight we can walk.
Thin, congrats on your 2 lb. loss.
Country, congrats on your nice surprise on the scale. Walking in winter actually burns more calories.
Monet, must be something to that weighing later that BOB told us about. Congrats. OK now that you have enjoyed that cake, time to get back on track. I was just talking about making enchilads. There is a great recipe here I think for them.
Pancho, after that trip to the ER, I think a Kit-Kat is justified. Hope Britt is feeling better. My DD was having breathing trouble and they also gave her predisone. Another doctor told he not to take it, it would make your goofy. She is 22 so I don't know if I would give it to Britt.
Monet. what a great buy. You are having so much fun with this class.
Talitha, sounds like you are working hard to winthat award. Hope all those calls pan out.
Cindy, Sounds like a great vacation. I have never been to the Falls either, but I here it is beautiful.
Gator, sorry about your loss this weekend. Bama sure came ready to play. Georgia should be a good game too. Glad you got your DF taken care of. Hope he is feeling better. At least you can enjoy your convertible all year in Florida. I bet it is fun and pretty too.
Got to run. Have a great OP day.

Tech--Hope your trip turns out to be just the perfect time for reflection for you and your DH. My MIL was a wonderful woman, and I hope that if I am ever a MIL I am just as good a one as she was. In and Out Hamburgers are wonderful, better than a BurgerKing Whopper. Not as big, but with "sauce" and sloppy good. There used to be an In & Out in Gainesville years ago.
Solly--Yup, the Gators got their @ss whupped. Bama truly came to play. I still miss ole Darth Visor.
Well, gotta go work out this morning and have to leave in 30 min. So better get hoppin'.

Hello all, tried to post a few days ago but we lost power in the middle of the post so I'll try again. It's been a stressful week plus. Things are settling down after Hurricane Rita but we still have evacuees staying with us, 2 of our church members. Not sure for how long. So needless to sa eating has not been too good but I've managed to at least stay the same without gaining so that's a good thing I guess.
DD's mobile home may have been salvagable from the storm but didn't get anything put over the exposed roof & it has been raining allot the last 2 days so now what was not totally wet before is certainly beyond wet now. FEMA was going to send someone to tarp it but that didn't happen. I'm pretty stressed over it but nothing I can do. Her boyfriend didn't lift a finger to help & that's what I'm most upset about. Long story but I'll stop there or it will ruin my day to revisit.
Hope all is well with all of you.

I forgot to tell you all that I fell off the treadmill today. :tread: I acutally looked just like this guy. Got my hand caught under the side track and cut it, not to bad though. I'm such a clutz.
Gator, Kentucky fans will be up against Darth Visor this week. Both are winless in the SEC so it will be a big game for them. I expect SC to pull it out.
Melf, so glad to hear things are getting better there. I'm sorry your DD's things are ruined. I'm sure the boyfriend situation is depressing. Hang in there. Glad you are maintaining.

Good afternoon:
I got to the gym today and got a good workout in. I will go again on Thursday and Saturday...only 3 days this week since the kids were out of school yesterday. I hope to be back to 4 days next week, but then I volunteer in Lane's class the following week, so I'll lose one day there. As long as I get a minimum of 3 days in, that's my goal. Four days is ideal.
I am a little miffed. I went to the homeo doctor on Saturday and saw a new doctor in the practice. I spent 30-45 minutes consulting with him (mostly about my IBS symptoms). I made sure that he understood that I NEVER get constipated, but often have diarrhea. He sent me home with a boatload of supplements (like they always do), and I started them on Saturday. I ended up getting diarrhea so bad that I started to check into the supps. One was Trifal, which is a mild laxative for constipation. I was so ticked!! I sent an e-mail since their offices were not open yesterday and will call tomorrow if I don't hear back from someone. I feel like I wasted a good 90 minutes total in that office for nothing!
The mobile dog groomer is here now; one dog down, and one to go.
Thin: I would ask your supplement question to your doctor since none of us are really qualified to answer that. I would think they are relatively safe to take with any meds, but you may want to ask your doc. to make sure, especially if you plan to use any of them for your children.
Monet: Great job on those steps! It sounds like you have a very busy day today. Enjoy the get-together tonight....I love Enchiladas!
Cindy: The only thing that comes to mind is boiled eggs and cheese sticks, and maybe some dry cereal you can munch on. Did you say you were taking any triscuits? I'm sure you will do great on vacation; it sounds like fun! Just remember that it is a vacation and to allow yourself a little yummy if you feel like it. Enjoy yourself!
Gator: Glad you are back. Are you going to post a picture of your new car, so we can see it? I want to rent a convertible for our anniversary and surprise DH and take him out to dinner. It won't be this year tho, since we are going to Disneyland for Thanksgiving. Our anniversary is Nov. 13th; maybe next year.
Tech: I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. You and your family will be in my prayers. Have a safe trip. In & Out does have protein burgers; they wrap the burger in lettuce -vs- bun; I like it better that way.
Solly: Thanks for the info. on the prednisone. I was going to start her on it this a.m., but she slept so good last night and didn't cough too much, so I am going to hold out a bit longer and see if she really needs it. Falling off the treadmill; that sounds so much like something I would do.
Melf: So good to see you. I am glad you have managed to maintain through these difficult times. Sorry to hear about DD's mobile home. Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you are doing.
I gotta go check into some new play mobile phones that Hasbro has for x-mas presents for the kids.
I'll check in later!

Did well at the gym again this morning. I'm finally feeling a little sore. I love working out!!!
After my workout I met my husband for lunch at wendy's Had the Mandarin chicken Salad and didn't put the noodles on. I put the salad dressing in a cup, watered it down abit, and just dipped the fork in it for each bite. Barely had any but it still was yummy. Half way through the salad I started thinking about the syrup that the oranges were probobly in and got mad at myself. Uh well. I really wanted a burger and fries. At least I made a slightly better decision.
I took the kids to the zoo today. It was wonderful. I'm exhasted now, and they are down for a late nap. I have to clean my house, clean the car because we're taking mine up to KY and I have to pack. Ahhh!!!
I know that Jackie is taking a break from the board, but I may get to see her this week in Louisville. I had talked to her about it a few months ago and got her email address. I'll let you guys know if it works out. I'm loving getting to put faces to the names!!
Monet- I'll let you know which day. I'm thinking Thursday after lunch? I amways leave Walmard without getting everyting. It's so frustrating. THey are building a new one on Howell Mill and 75, right by me.
Tech- Have a safe trip. We'll be thinking of you. You'll love the train ride. I would give anything for an In-N-Out burger right now!!!!
Solly- I did that once at they gym. TOTALLY embarasing. :o
Yep, I'm going to keep my kids out of daycare if I have to stand on the streets to sell stuff!!
Gator- Thanks for the pictures. I had to smile. I can picture you in your convertible now. It sounds so perfect for you. I bet you look great in it!!! Selah sends a hug...

Talitha--When are you leaving for Ky.? How long will you be gone? Hope you have a great trip and reach your goals. I have a facial this afternoon and will start on the things you gave me tonight. I'm anxious to see how they do. The nurse at my doctor's office sells something called "Pure and Clean" or Pure Beauty" or something with two words and "Pure" as one of the words.
I actually read the entire book that came with my car, to see exactly how everything worked and what gizmos were included that I didn't know about just by looking. My DH wants me to add a CD changer that they would put in the trunk. They also sell a "wind screen" that you attach over the back seat and which, the dealership tells me, is so good that your hair doesn't blow at all with the top down. Might give it a look see.
I have 9500 steps so far, so think I'll get my 10K in. Solly, you be careful on the TM. You must have been going at a good clip to fall off. I can always go much faster on a TM than just walking on the street. My DH says that's because the "ground" on the TM moves, which makes it a little easier to push ourselves along, whereas the ground in my neighborhood just sits there and I have to do all the work. I can do 3.8 mph fairly easily on the TM, but just about 3 mph on the street.
Well, I'd better get some dinner. My DH is eating out, so I'll have to rustle up something simple.

Today was exhausting! I LOVED having just the fifth grade in class today though. :) They were so much easier to handle and it just went so well...I am very encouraged. I came home after running off some handouts, and my daughter and son in law were already here. I started working on dinner immediately. It turned out good...TOO good in fact, as I over ate terribly! We had enchiladas, Erik made fried green tomatoes like he does at the country club and they were divine! I am so stuffed I can barely move! Not pretty at all! I am also really tired, and chilling by myself up in my room while everyone is hanging out downstairs looking at James' pictures on his computer. I am going to have to go join them soon, or look anti-social! :)
I will check in when I get home tomorrow!

I just finished making cookies and needed a distraction. :) I did eat a half of one. Weak but getting better. My clothes are so tight I don't have much of a choice.
Solly...oh my goodness...ouch! I hope you aren't too sore from falling tomorrow.
Tech...I am so sorry for all you and your family are going through right now. You are on my heart and in my prayers.
Gator...welcome back.
Melf...I'm so sorry they didn't get the roof covered. Robert was in the middle of striping our roof one year when a tropical storm blew in. It wasn't pretty. Praying the damage inside is minimal.
Talitha..how neat you might get to meet Jackie.
Poncho...that would make me very angry also. I'm really paranoid about medicine and such. One time when I was in the hospital my own doctor prescribed me codiene. Luckily I asked. I'm very allergic. He had been my doctor forever but I guess he forgot.
Monet...thank you for the recipe. I hope you enjoyed a fried green tomato for me...one of my very favorite things. :)
Toni...are you lurking sweet lady? ((hugzz))
Heart....hey you! :) How are you doing so far this week?
Bob...((hugzz))
Cindy...howdy!
Teensy...if you are lurking...((hugzz))
Time to get my bootie off of this thing.
Love and hugs,

Hi Ladies,
We got about 2 mile walk in last night. We walked to the grocery and had to carry mile and a large jar of speghetti sauce back so that was some added wt. Got my :tread: in this morning and didn't fall off. I actually used the emergency cut off clip today just in case. :dizzy:
Pancho, 3 days at the gym is still great. I would be mad about the Dr visit too. I just don't think these doctors today listen to you. Hope you are feeling better. I beleive I have the IBS, but opposite of you. So send me those meds. Such a joy.
Talitha, You didn't make a bad choice. That salad only has 170 calories and 13 grams of sugar, probably from the oranges. But you couldn't wash them off there.
Gator, you are the onlyperson Iknow that has read the book that comes with the car or any item. Good for you. I'm still finding new things on my cell phone. I get such a better workout on the TM than outside. Just can't go as far on the :tread:
Monet, I'm glad the class was so good for you today. Your SIL's the chef, he should have cooked dinner, even though it was his birthday.
Country, Half a cookie is good. You have more will power than me.
It's going to be a busy 2 days here so I may be missing tomorrow. Have a great op day.

Good Morning:
It seems like Tuesday and is already Wednesday. Britt had Monday off school, so my week is kinda wacky. Lane and I are going to a pizza place for our Mom's Club outing today; she gets to make her own pizza. It s/b fun for her.
I am waiting for the Kinetico water man to come by and fix our soft water unit. I also scheduled a maintenance (preventative) with an air conditioning/heating company to check our units. We've been here for five years, and thought we'd have them checked out.
Not much else going on around here, so I'll post a few replies and then go start getting myself and Lane ready to go.
Solly: Glad you made it through a treadmill workout without falling off (ha); I guess that is why they have those emergency plugs, eh? I would be more than happy to send this Trifal to you...really, I would! If you want to PM me your address, I'll mail it out to you the next time I am at my post office. There is nearly an entire bottle left.
Country: That's a pretty critical mistake for a doctor to make, especially since you had been his patient for a long time, and it was no doubt in your file. I could never stop at 1/2 cookie, unless it was the size of a frisbee (ha). You s/b very proud of your discipline there.
Monet: Glad you had such a great day at school, and with your daughter and son-in-law; I would have splurged with that dinner too. How do you feel this morning?
Hi Gator & Talitha!
I hope you all have a fantastic OP day!

Thanks, everyone, for the replies about my mother in law. She passed yesterday about ten minutes after my DH said goodbye to her over the phone. It was like she was waiting to hear from him before going.
So...we leave tomorrow night. What a ton I have to take care of, making sure the kids have everything they'll need while I'm gone for school, etc and packing for myself. I can't wait till I'm on my way. But for now, it's time for lunch and I'll check back later.

I am going to sub for the first grade teacher on Friday...boy is my first paycheck going to be a biggie! I may be able to pay off some bills.

Good morning! Its raining cats and dogs here. We needed the rain, but today was the 'fun run' at school, so I imagine they will be postponing it until next week. I hope it does not effect my Tuesday class....
I slept fairly well, but I am considering climbing back into the bed for a while. I am just not sleepy enough to fall asleep right now, but I know I need more sleep. :(
I am sorry I am so boring this morning! I will be back later...and hopefully be more scintillating. :)

I'm here! I'm here! I don't know where everyone is today, but I share your attitude about this morning Monet. It was so dark and dreary this morning I could not believe it was actually time to get up andgo. All I wanted to do was roll over, snuggle under the blanket, and listen to the rain. :rain:
Unfortunately, I had to go to work. It was slow at work too, so I spent most of the afternoon surfing. (Shhh! Don't tell anyone!~) I was looking for Halloween recipes and ideas that I can use. I also looked at e-bay for a while. Maybe it will cool off like the weatherman said and I can snuggle on Saturday morning!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Had a busy week trying to get everything taken care of at work so when Im on vacation next week I dont have to worry.
Real quick..my biopsy came out inconclusive and the ultrasound showed my uterus is thicker than it should be so now I have to go for a D&C so he can get a better sample of tissue. Thats not until Nov.
Good news.. Yesterday at work I got a promotion. Im very excitied . Its more money and totally different from what Im doing now. There is so much to learn..hospital codes , Op laws of other states etc.. But Im trying to just think a day at a time or my brain is getting overwhelmed. I will be in training classes for a short time so hopefully that will get me started on the right foot.
Got to run. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

I spent most of the day organizing and looking for art supplies on ebay and other web sites. I got some great deals. Spending the supply budget is almost as much fun as teaching! :) Dinner tonight was beef and asparagus stir fried with garlic and black beans, and brown rice. Lunch was orange roughy and a salad. I had two cups of decaf after dinner.
CINDY: Congrats on the promotion! How exciting! You deserve it, as you work so hard!
FROG: Glad you are back safe and sound...will look forward to a report on your trip!
I need to go wrap up stuff, and take a shower and get in bed as soon as I can...I am subbing in the morning for the first grade! I am excited! I am going to be rather well off come October 15!

HELLOOO? Is today going to be a slow day too? :listen:
I just got off the phone with my husband. We were discussing that this weekend, in Georgia, is tax free energy weekend or some such. If you buy appliances with the energy star, it's tax free! :cb: It is from today thru Sunday and includes dishwashers, clothes washers, ceiling fans, flourescent bulbs, etc. My dishwasher has been making some really rough sounding noises lately almost a grinding sound, so we will be at Home Depot shopping tomorrow to see what we find. Hubby also has a $500 gift card that he won through some kind of incentive they had at work recently. So we should be sitting pretty! :dancer:
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Whew...what a day! I left early to go sub for the first grade class...I rode with my neighbor. Then we stopped at a deli and got a Reuben sandwich to split. It was incredible...probably five inches thick with thin sliced corned beef. Yum yum! We did the second lesson in the drawing curriculum, then she had a doctor's appointment (with my old doctor who I love and can't use anymore! :( ) so I went to church office and helped some with the worship guides. Then I went to the bank, and came home. I barely got in, and Tom got home and will expect dinner in an hour, when he gets home from jogging. Its rained all day...which is not fun.
I hope everyone is doing well.... The week started out great, and just fizzled on here. We really need to get our posting up!

Yes! It's Friday night! My favorite time of the week! There's just such a nice relaxed feeling knowing you havethe whole weekend ahead, and this week we have a 3 day weekend!  Monday is a teacher workday, but the nurses don't have any meetings or anything planned so we have the day off! Sean has to have his bloodwork follow up to see how his cholesterol is doing, and also a follow up with the neurologist to check on his headaches. BUT atleast we do not have to go to school!
We tried spagetti squash tonight for the first time. Craig and I liked it, but the kids were not impressed. Hope everyone has a great, relaxing weekend!

Good morning! I am in the midst of fixing ww crust quiches for breakfasts this week. I am also making a crustless quiche for me, as I find avoiding wheat helps me tremendously. I just wish I could give it up entirely...I do for a few days, feel much better, then eat something with wheat and regret it. How dumb is that?
The rain has finally stopped. It was so damp, and dreary, I was beginning to despair. The sun almost came out a bit ago...so that is encouraging. I was hoping to go for a walk, but my foot is bothering me. It feels like a strained the arch or something. I may try a walk anyway in hopes that it helps it. We have a lot of projects we want to work on, but I may just chill out today. I have had a sore throat for a few days, and its gotten bad enough to be annoying now. I may try and rest it off...
THIN: I hope you find a great dishwasher! I am sure you can get a pretty nice one for $500! I am a Kitchenaid, Maytag snob, so those were the only brands I wanted to consider when I got mine. I got the last Kitchenaid that Best Buy had...they stopped carrying those two brands! I was glad I got in there...I had a store credit for $130, so it made sense to purchase it there. I don't know how old your present dishwasher is, but you are going to be amazed at how quiet the new ones are if its very old! I can hardly tell my new one is on!
CINDY:  WOO HOO!! Congrats on the loss! Have a great trip! I hope you can check in with the wireless. Isn't technology wonderful sometimes? :)

Yea! I am on the way to a new dishwasher! Acually it's paid for andmy husband is now on the way to pick it up! It is a Maytag Jetclean or something like that. It has a sanitize feature and a delay setting. Our old one was a contractor grade one that we got with our house eight years ago, so I expect to see a big difference in quietness and cleanliness. ;)
We also got new cellphones today. Pepsi recently got new verizon phones for their employees and we get a 21% discount if we all switch to them so we did. We also found out that by buying my phone we got a basic phone for free and the two phones will share the minutes. We are letting the kids have the second phone for use when they are out with friends, at school functions, etc. They are also going on 3-4 day out of town field trips this year, so will be nice to be able to keep in touch. They have been begging for one, so I guess sharing one beats not having one at all!

THIN: Congrats on the new dishwasher! A Maytag is one of the top rated machines you can buy! I had one in my old house and would have loved to have taken it with me. :) I do love my new Kitchenaid one, but there were some features with the Maytag that were really nice! Enjoy! Good deal on the cellphones too! Having one to hand the kids to keep in touch is a great idea. Just so long as they don't turn it off and try to tell you they were in a dead zone! (One of mine has tried that on occasion...)

Well, I suspect BOB is off licking her wounds. The DAWGS took on her VOLS and came out the victor. GO DAWGS!
We went out to our fav Mexican place tonight. I got tortilla soup (chicken soup with rice, cilantro, fresh tomatoes and avocados), a taco and a side of beans. I did eat a few chips. We went by the package store on our way home and I got two kinds of Pinot Grigio to try. The one I opened was pricey, but its pretty good. I had a heaping glass full...and you all, I am the cheapest drunk! I feel so tipsy after one full glass! Sheesh!
Not much else to say. I am working on this baby blanket. I am about half done. Its turning out nicely. I have so much knitting to do!
I found a bunch of cheap art prints on ebay...the shipping about killed me, but I got them all for 99 cents each! I hope they are nice!
OK, off to knit!

Monet is feeling poorly today. Tom told me if I felt bad to quit being a stoic and pamper myself, so I have spent most of the day in the bed, reading or knitting. My throat is better, and I hope it continues to improve. Its raw and damp today, a bit of sunshine would be so nice.
Breakfast was eggs benedict without the English muffins, lunch was a hot dog and some left over chicken curry, curried okra and brown rice. I ate the hot dog without any bread. I feel better when I don't eat wheat, so WHY do I do it? sigh.... I am drinking hot tea that my wonderful husband made for me. I better go crawl back in bed before he gets out of the shower! :) We need to leave for church in an hour.
Later!

Oh, and here is a joke I meant to post on Friday:
Why is a hot dog better than a dog?
A dog bites the hand that feeds it, but a hot dog feeds the hand that bites it!

OK, We're back from Gainesville where we spent the weekend watching the Gators, and just having fun. I ate like a pig and was not OP at all. I will pay for it on Monday.
BOB--We watched the UT/UGA game on TV, and I know how you feel, because I've watched the Gators lose some big ones. That must have been really hard for the Volunteer fans to watch that game--at Neyland Stadium to boot. It looks like UT is out of the running this year, but, as old Gators have learned to say, "Wait 'till next year." The Gator's game yesterday ended with a score that was NO reflection of what really happened on the field. We had NO, I mean NADA, zippo, offense. We have absolutely NO offensive line, and the defense got us two safeties and played really well. So, I'm expecting that we will lose to LSU, UGA, FSU, and maybe even the Evil Genuis' team. Horrors!! Heck, we could even lose to Vandy! I don't know how in the world we lost to UT, but after y'all's loss yesterday, maybe the reason we did is because it just is not UT's year. Anyway, BOB, ya gotta' pull for the Gators to pull one out on UGA after the beating they gave y'all at home. BTW, I think your sugggestion of just "checking in" on the board is a good one, and I will try to do that.
Well, I'm gonna go unpack, and watch a little pro football. Anyone know when Talitha is getting back?

We got in from church a little while ago. I am still nursing a sore throat, so Tom made me more tea. I am not going to eat anything, as I am not very hungry and its been a bad week for me with eating over all. I need to get back on track. I am NOT looking forward to facing the metal monster in the morning.
I am clipping along on my baby afghan. I have about 40 more rows to do to be done. They go faster and faster as you get close to the end, as they are getting smaller. (its knit diagonally...you start small, get bigger then start decreasing again)
GATOR: I imagine Talitha came back for church today...I bet she will check in tomorrow morning.
