It's hard to believe that it's already OCTOBER!!!

Anyone is welcome to join us. We have at one time or another all weighed in on Thursday. We are a close group and have been through thick and thin together.

I'm off this week so I'm hoping to have a better week and get things under control.

Tammy, not all fo the districts here have a fall break. It's nice because about now you need one.

Tina, you and Larry need a vacation!!!

Sis, how cold does it get there?

Susan,
Thanks for starting us off. It seems these months go by so fast!
Houston and surrounding area does not have a fall break. Y'all are very lucky.

Everyone have a great Monday and stay OP!! :)

NV doesn't either, but I love the fall. It is so nice to get away from 80-100's degrees! I am playing on the computer waiting for the sun to come up a bit more before walking. It is chilly out.

Well tonight it feels like I might have to turn the air back on as it was about 28* with high humidity (mid nineties for Y'all).
I found a winter coat plain black wool pea coat with toggles and a big hood, in only 1x size. Now I need a bright red scarf to jazz it up. No shoes though I will have to go to the specialty store apparently my feet aren't going to shrink. d@*&$

Susan I will be thinking of you and Pat and little Seamus tomorrow, we all will.

It was a hot day here. I ran lots of errands and tried to stay busy all day. My girlfriend is taking off 1/2 day tomorrow and we are going to go to lunch. She is one of my best friends and we've been through a lot together.

Mimi, You are so sweet. Thank you for thinking about us. I know you will look just beautiful in your new coat! We are suppose to have a high of 70 on Thursday. (It will only last for the day) :)

Tina, How is Smokey? Give him lots of hugs and kisses!!!!

Tammy, How is school going? Is the administration being civil to you or do we need to make a trip up there?

Flower, I like fall too! Just here in Texas you have 2 seasons...... Summer and Winter (for about a week)

Tammy

School is ok. I told the kids this morning that I'm going to start sending home weekly reports. So many of them are doing silly things, and I'm going to start nailing them for it. Maybe a few weeks of notifying parents of some of what is happening, they'll straighten up. I sure hope so anyway.

It was hot today! I was glad that Bob had the AC on when I got home.

Mimi, your coat sounds nice. The red scarf will look great with it.

I am only working 1/2 day tomorrow. I leave at noon. Heading to visit my doctor. Nothing big, just a checkup. Tim gets his Senior pictures taken later in the afternoon then. I'm going with him Bob isn't going. He said he would just make Tim nervous. lol

I'm staying away from the administrators at school. My brother's letter about all of the crap that has gone on hit the papers. He has had so many calls in support of what he said. I'm sure if anyone questions the board or admin., they'll say my brother is lying. But I think there are enough people in the school system who know the truth, and the community can talk to any of us.

278 days. I'm awful!!

Tina
10-03-2005, 11:21 PM
Your brother did a great thing, Tammy. I'm so glad the papers are carrying it.
Be sure and let us know how your doctor's visit goes.

Mimi, that coat does sound great. You should come down and help me accessorize. I'm not good at such things.

Susan, you've been in my thoughts all day.
(Smokey is eating if I coax him. His vet might try a new food on him.)

Hey, it's supposed to get down in the 50's at night, the last part of this week.

Erin and Jody, we haven't heard from ya'll in ages !

I'm up and getting ready to leave for school, but I had to post a loss on the WI thread. lol Anytime I see a loss, I'm counting it.

My doctor's visit is just to get weighed, BP, and get new prescriptions for my medicines that I'm running out of. I usually try to make them after school, but this year I decided why bother? No one cares if we are at school or not (except maybe the kids!!). I have enough sick days that I could take an entire year off. That shows that I haven't abused the system.

Toodles!!

Tammy; no you aren't awful but it really sounds like you are stressed to the max this year. Both of my son's had the same teacher, and the younger one had her in her final year, I never saw someone so happy to be leaving a job.
Tina; is the special food that Smokey is on for his kidneys? I know what it is like, we would do anything to keep our pets with us. I know the vet wanted to put my Fred on a special diet, but I just wanted him happy. You know you have given him a good life sometimes that is all we can do.
Susan; Enjoy your lunch with your friend. Sending you a big :grouphug:

Tammy
10-04-2005, 09:35 PM
Mimi, I am stressed for sure. When I told the kids that there would be a sub there after recess, one of the boys started to cry. He thought that I would be out a long time again. I told them I was going to the doctor, and that I would be back tomorrow. That eased their minds a little.

Had Tim's Senior pictures taken tonight. It went well. Hope we get some good ones.

Hi,

It's been an ok day. I'm really tired and feel like I could go to sleep and sleep for years. Pat had to work today but my girlfriend took a 1/2 day off. We went to lunch, cruised Target and then went to Chili's and had margaritas. It was nice just to sit and talk.

Tammy, I'm glad you got a good report from the doctor. YES, TAKE THOSE DAYS!!!! They aren't going to pay you for them when you retire. I took a bunch off before I quit, actually everytime I had a doctors appointment. I got 7 state days when I went back to work because they carried over even without teaching last year.

Tina, We gave Betty ANYTHING she would eat. Does Smokey like Friskies' treats? My cats love them and just started eating the crunchy treats and are addicted to them.

Mimi, you are always so sweet and positive. I am glad to be your friend!! Thanks!!!

Ok, where is everyone else? Amy... where are you? Do you want me to tell Mom?

Tina
10-05-2005, 12:13 AM
Tammy, I'm glad you got a good report. All that mess at school. It seems the administrators have no feeling for the children, just themselves. That was so sad about the little boy being upset.

Susan, I am glad your friend could be with you. It was probably good that Pat had to work. It's so hard on men trying to be brave. Why on earth were they taught not to show emotion!!!!!

Mimi, Smokey has been having trouble having too many hairballs come up. He doesn't eat and has lost lots of weight. The vet put him on Prednisone (I'm not too wild about that.) and gave him Hill's prescription a/d food. Today he finally seems to feel better--no hairballs in over a week--and loves the food. He does have minimal kidney failure. He will not eat that kind of food. Like you, I decided to let him eat what he wanted. I hope he continues to feel good since our vacation is coming up soon.
Susan, he likes Fancy Feast cat food.

I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
I miss all our members who haven't "checked in" recently.

beef with red wine, onions mushrooms I made mashed potatoes which we could have done without and green beans almondine. Well worth every point!

You won't believe the latest. Today at recess, one of the 5th grade boys (a big boy) picked up one of my boys (a little scrawny kid), turned him upside down and dropped him. One of the teachers on duty saw it happen. She said my boy was innocent. Well, both boys were called to the office. They both have to owe 2 recesses for the principal. The one who turned Alex upside down and dropped him gets the same punishment! I can't believe it. Alex's mom called, I told her what happened and who the other teacher was. She is going to call her, then she said she's coming to school tomorrow. She has about had it with her boys getting picked on by bigger kids all the time. Guess what? She has a vote NO for the levy sign in her yard too. Coincidence?

275 more days. lol We only have 4 days next week. Teacher's meetings on Friday, but we already put in a day before school started to take the place of that one. I plan to sleep in. (of course!)

Tina
10-06-2005, 08:40 PM
My goodness, Tammy---
I wish you didn't have to wait another 275 days. Grrrr.....
At least someone else saw it happen. That principal should be disbarred.....uh, I mean fired.
Your boy didn't do anything!!!!!
Can I come up and take care of that school?

auntie
10-06-2005, 10:01 PM
Oh my gosh!!! That poor boy!!! I would be so mad too if I was his mom. the prinicpal should be fired is an understatement.

We went to the fair today! It was fun. we saw pig races which was so funny.

I have a doctor's appointment in the morning. Yuck!! Then I'm off to San Antonio for the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I want lots of people to come up and take care of this place. It's really getting out of control. We have almost 250 kids at recess at the same time. There isn't that much room to roam, so naturally kids are getting into trouble. The administration doesn't think that it is a problem.

Susan, pig races are so funny!! Have you ever seen duck races? I usually can't stop laughing.

One of the other elementary teachers lost it yesterday morning before school. Another teacher was talking to her about trying to figure out something with the recess problems. Nothing bad. Well, the first teacher started screaming and yelling, threw all of her books and papers on the floor, was crying and down on the floor sobbing. She kept saying " I can't take anymore!". The superintendent was walking down the hall and saw the whole thing. I'm glad that he saw it. He knows how upset everyone is. I know he doesn't care, but maybe somewhere deep inside him he is realizing that they really screwed up.

Tonight is the homecoming dance at the high school. Tim, Jessica, and another couple were going out to eat. Texas Roadhouse!! Yummy!! Tim said he would rather just go out to eat and to a movie instead of the dance. Usually lots of the kids request rap music, and he doesn't like that. Can't say that I blame him on that one!!

We went through a house today for the 2nd time. We talk to the bank on Monday. We're not in a rush to move, but this one came up for sale and we had our eyes on it for a few years. Very nice!! It's in an area where you pay a monthly fee and all of the outside maintenance is done for you. With the fibro. and arthritis, I haven't been able to help out as much outside. The house is all on one floor, which sounds wonderful. Tim went with us today. He said the living and dining area were too open for him, but he'll be leaving next August for college anyway. He said Bob and I have to make a decision for what will be good for us in retirement.

Need to go grade some papers. What else is new?

Tina

Happy Thanksgiving to Mimi!!!!!!

Susan, I hope you got a good report at the doctor's. Enjoy your trip to SA. I've never seen pig or duck races. Sounds strange!

Tammy, a house without yardwork is what Larry wants. Really, we both would like a condo.

I haven't been online that much. I have something like a pinched nerve in my back that acts up once in a blue moon. It's a blue moon.

Tammy; it sounds like it is going crazy down there, and I thought we had it bad you teachers all deserve a hero reward for putting up with it. That condo sounds great, I have looked at a few too, its nice to have the look without the work. Would you like a back rub too?

Tammy
10-09-2005, 08:30 PM
Mimi, I forgot to say Happy Thanksgiving! And I was going to say boo hiss on working!!

A back rub sounds nice! Come on down!!!

Bob is going to the bank tomorrow when he gets off work to ask some questions about the house.
On the cul-de-sac, there are 5 doubles and 2 singles. They all belong to the association. From what we saw yesterday, we would be the young kids on the block. lol Bob is 58, and I'm 50, Tim is 17. It has 2 nice bedrooms, 2 bath, living/dining comination, kitchen, laundry room with a pantry and closet, Florida room, and an enclosed porch. The porch is one of my favorite parts of the house. My glider would be perfect there. Bob said that if this doesn't go through, there are some lots near there and we could build. He said we could hire someone to do the outside stuff for us if we decided to.

Hi,

Happy Thanksgiving, Mimi!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend!!!

My trip home was good. It was quick and went too fast. Mom and Dad are doing good. It was good to see them with my own eyes! :)

My doctor's report was pretty good. I was down 8 pounds since March. She also wants me to see an opthalmolgoist about my drooping eye lid and an ENT about my allergies and sinus infections (and snoring). She spent an hour with me, she always spends a long time but wanted to make sure I was doing well emotionally too.

Tina, Sorry about your back! It sounds painful!!!

Tammy, I can't believe the superintendent didn't inquire about the teacher. It's a shame!

Mimi, did you have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner?

Tina

Happy Monday,
I hope everyone is having a good one. It's raining here and it feels colder than it really is. Of course, I am not complaining. I'd rather have this than 100 degree heat. I think our fall is finally here. Maybe this rain will do it for the month. We used to have our first cold spell and rain on Halloween night. That was horrible because kids had to wear coats over their costumes. :o :(

We are going to take a little trip - very soon. I've got to get into high gear. I ate way too much yesterday. We sat at the TV for almost 6 hours, watching our Houston Astros beat the Atlanta Braves. Larry went out and bought a one-layer chocolate cake. Larry, David and I sat there and ate the whole thing! Needless to say, I have no points for today.

Tammy, are you cold?
Sis, how's your weather.
Susan, I'm so glad you had a good time at your parents'.
Maureen, you've been too quiet.
Mimi, thanks again for the back rub. It feels much better now--really it does.
Some of our members have been very quiet---you know who you are! :) Please post, soon!

Hi,
Hope everyone has had a good day. Nothing exciting here....... It has been pretty quiet here lately. What is everyone doing?

Tina, please share the rain with us. They keep saying rain is in the forecast but it never does. It's been in the high 70's and 80's. How is your back?

Tammy, how is school?

Mimi, I loved Tina's back rub!!!

We had our house painted last week. It's a dark blue and turned out real nice.

Evening,
Susan, my back is so much better. I've been babying it and taking Advil. I swear by that stuff. It always helps.
No rain today but it was cool. The sun came out a few times.

I was sooooooo good with my points today. Yea for me!

How is everyone doing? Was it a tiring Monday? Did everyone stay OP and drink that water? I think I just got 2 glasses down. Ooops! :o I'll do better tomorrow.

Susan; that paint colour sounds great. Is it wood sidding or stucco or ? White Trim?
My home is light grey brick with white trim. I really want to add a slash of colour in the spring.
Tina; I am glad your back is feeling better, that has got to be one of the most miserable things to have, sometimes it even hurts to breathe.
Tammy; That new subdivion sounds great. Real Estate has gone up about 25% in the last few years around here. Is it booming where you are too? A new home like you are describing would be about 225+ thousand around here. Very little under 100. I feel sorry for the young people it must look like a mountain to them.
Where are the rest of our ladies? I hope they haven't gotten discouraged and given up I know we all have been there at one time (or hundreds of times) or another.

auntie
10-11-2005, 10:43 PM
Mimi,
Our house is white brick but the trim is wood along with our dormers and porches. It wasn't a lot to do but it was better to have someone do it and not us. :)

Tina

Wednesday

Susan and Mimi, y'all's houses sound very pretty. I grew up in a two-story brick house that was painted white. I have no idea why they did that. When we had to sell it, after Mother's stroke, the people sand blasted it and the brick are beautiful.
We have a wood house.
Homes in my little area run 300 & up, up, up. Very few are that cheap, too. We bought 17 years ago before everything went sky high.

Tammy, how is school going?
Amy, where are you girl?
Sis, what's up?????
I hope everyone is having decent weather. It's in the low 80's here today. Beautiful!!!!!

:flow1:

Tammy
10-12-2005, 09:51 PM
Susan, the house sounds pretty! I agree about having someone else do it for you. We've already decided that if we get the house, we will have someone come in to paint if we think it needs it. When we moved here, we did all of the painting. Never again.

It has still been cool this week. My classroom is so warm! My old one was freezing once it started cooling off. I'm in the old section of the building now. There is a 2nd story and I'm on the first floor. I'm sure that helps with the heating. My old room had a drop ceiling in it with no insulation above it! Brrr.

Tina, that cake sounds delicious!!!

Mimi, there has been a lot of building of homes in our area too. Many of them are over $200,000. The one that we are putting a bid on is about $160,000. That's more than I ever thought I'd pay for a house, but it really is worth that or more.

I have a bunch of boxes at school to bring home to pack some things up. We don't even know for sure if we will get the house, but we need to be sorting through things anyway. Spring cleaning in the fall.

auntie
10-12-2005, 10:04 PM
Our house is nice. It's just a ranch style one story house. It has 3 rooms and a big family/kitchen and it's all open. We are pretty simple and wanted something practical.

It was a great day at school. :) My kids are so funny and keep me laughing!!!! There is never a dull moment....

Hope everyone had a great day. I was in bed at 9:30 last night. I'm not usually ready for bed then but I was sound asleep shortly after.

Howdy all,

Sorry that I have been a stranger. Girl scouts are taking every extra second of my time. Right now I am running our Fall nut sale as well as startig to do training of our leaders for the cookie sale that kicks off January 1. I am over 24 troops as well as running my own troop of 15 3rd grade Brownies that are starting to get ready to "Fly up" to juniors in the Spring.

Also, my husbands grandmother is coming for a week over Thanksgiving and we are in the middle of house remodels. I am painting the master bedroom and redesigning it. I am painting the walls sage green. Then we are in the process of picking out hardwood floors to be put down, as well as crown molding around the ceiling. (No Sue, Rob is NOT doing it) :D

At the same time, Rob is finishing up the wood flooring project he started months ago.

Needless to say I am going crazy!!!! :dizzy: :stars:

Susan, I had a pretty good week at school too other than being too warm. lol
Amy, you are way too busy!!!

We didn't put a bid on the house we liked. I think we are going to build and get what we want. We looked at house plans from 2 different builders last night. We looked at them individually. The three of us ended up liking the same house! What are the odds of that? We drove around and looked at some available lots today. This could be exciting!! Maybe it will make the school year go faster if I have something else on my mind.

Football game tonight. Band contest tomorrow. My nephews are here all weekend (7th grader and 8th grader).

Happy Friday,

Everyone look at the Weigh-In thread. Flower shared some big news with us. ;)

Tammy; that sounds great, now you can get exactly what you want, I loved buying our house new, there is something very special about it.
Amy; no wonder we haven't heard from you lately, sounds like you are in a whirlwind.
Susan; it's great to have someone do the work, we got the trim outside painted in the summer, no ladders for this Fchick. :)
Tina; How is Smokey doing? I put Eddy in the tub and brush him like crazy and there is still hair everwhere. They are really putting the winter coat on now. I guess they do down there too, even though they don't need it. We are lucky to be able to take ours off, I would really have trouble keeping myself clean with my tongue too. (Sorry I am a bit crazy today ;) )

HI,
Hope everyone has had a great weekend so far. Mine's been busy. I'd did the Race for the Cure with my girl friend that had cancer a few years ago. It was a 5K and we walked the entire way and on top of that had to walk to get there from the train. It was a bunch of fun. I have to lose weight, it would be so much easier if I was thinner. :dizzy:

Mimi, I'm with you on not going on a ladder (I'm way to klutzy)
Tammy, how was school this week? Any excitment?

Yes, Amy is way too busy and always takes on alot. She certainly doesn't get that from me....

Tammy
10-15-2005, 10:35 PM
Big news here. Well, it's big for us anyway. The band went to a contest today. They received 1st place in Class C (the smallest bands), the percussion received 1st place in Class C (Tim wanted to bring the trophy home and sleep with it since he is the percussion section leader.), AND they received Best General Effect for Classes B & C!!
They received a 1 rating which means they qualified for the State Marching Band Contest. Woo hoo!!!!

School was decent this week. My little stinker had an awesome week!!! Even the other kids in the class commented about it. Maybe this will be a turning point for him. I hope so. He's a smart little boy, but very ornery.

My nephews are bored here. I don't know what they expected. lol I had told them to bring stuff to do, but they didn't bring enough apparently. Oh well.

I am ready for bed, and it's only 9:35. Long day. Home late last night too because of the football game.

I hope everyone is doing well, its been quiet on here the last few days. Lots of fall colours around here lately. I love the cool mornings and the beautiful sunrises this time of year. I am going to have to put the sandals away until spring though, its a little cool on the tootsies.

Tammy
10-18-2005, 10:11 PM
Would you believe we have changed our minds again about the house? The one that we were going to bid on has come down in price. It is 5 years old. All of the window treatments stay, appliances stay, nice carpet.

We sat down and figured out how much it was going to cost for the one we wanted to build by the time we did the yard, driveway, sidewalk, carpet, etc. The one that is already built will be over $50,000 cheaper. We are meeting with the realtor again tomorrow, and I think we are putting an official bid on it.

I have to keep in mind that Tim will be leaving for college next year, and then he'll be on his own. We don't need a super big place for the two of us. We did go furniture shopping tonight. What we have is old (from 1983 and 1991). Thought we could get some new furniture for the living room and dining room.

It has been cool here in the mornings, but has been warm in the afternoons. One of the teachers wore sandals on Monday. She hunted in her locker at school and found a pair of socks to put on. Her tootsies were a bit nippy!!!

Picked up Tim's Senior proofs last night. Oh my! They are all so good. I don't know how we'll make a decision. I told Bob that I want to buy all of the proofs, so we'll have at least one copy of each one. He agreed with me. Hooray!!!!

I need to go to bed. Very tired. I seriously thought about calling in in the morning, but then I remembered that we have an in-service meeting before school. I want to get that over with. Maybe Thursday I could stay home and get some sleep. Friday night is Senior Night at the football game. We get to walk across the field with Tim while they read things about him (activities, future plans, etc.)

Hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe tomorrow is only Wednesday!

Howdy,

It has been quiet here lately. Well you never really put away the sandals in this part of Texas. I think I only will stop wearing them for a few weeks. I love them and if I'm not wearing them then I'm bare foot. I even take off my shoes at school. My kids laugh...... :)

I'm done pretty good with my food until today. I received a bill for Seamus yesterday. It's one that I had called and called on and they said it was all taken care of. It just reopened wounds. When I called them and complained they said they would take care of it. My heart felt like it was ripped out again. Food was a comfort..... I wish I had kept control of my food.

Tammy, I hope you get the house. I know you are excited about it. Keep us posted. Also, I can only imagine that Tim's pictures were all wonderful.

Mimi, now keep those little toes warm!!!!

Tammy

I'm so sorry about you receiving that bill. I can't imagine how bad that hurt you.

Susan, Bob said the same thing about taking days off! lol I have appointments on Nov. 8 so I'm off that day, and I have a personal day on Dec. 16. I'm sure I can come up with some more between now and Christmas.

Tina, where did you go and what did you buy me????????

Welcome Tracy!!!! Good for you on the loss and giving WW a shot. I don't attend anymore, and lately I haven't been following any program at all. Maybe that's why I'm not losing??? DUH! As long as I don't gain again, I can live with a standstill for a while, but not a long while.

Slept late this morning, and I just got up from a nap a short while ago. Maybe I'll actually have more energy tomorrow. I sure hope so.

Hi all,
Tracy, it's great having you here with us. If you have a photo you can share, put it on our Thursday Photo thread.

Tammy, it sounds like you led a life of leisure today. :) Good for you!!!!!
Sorry I didn't bring souvenirs back this time. We went to San Francisco. Would you believe that it was warm there until the last full day. Then, the fog rolled in and it was in the low 60's. Brrrrr....

I'm trying to be good today and stay OP. I'll get back to business next Monday.

Happy Friday,
How is everyone doing?
Can you all believe there is another hurricane out there! What is going on!

Tammy, did you put down a bid on that house? Did you decide on Tim's pictures?

Susan, what are you doing this weekend?
Mimi and Sis, are y'all working this weekend?

I am hoping this hurricane does not due the damage of Katrina and Rita. I am actually hoping it just dissappears and goes away. Enough is enough already. They say it is going to hit Florida sometime late Sunday. :( I am hoping it dies down before then.

Howdy,
Hope everyone is doing something exciting this weekend. I'm not doing too much! I've already cleaned my house for the weekend, it's normally a Saturday chore and I even got the wash done too. I'm waiting on the last 2 loads. It will be nice not to have to do it all tomorrow.

I'm going tomorrow to see my "bolting" girl ride in a horse show. She does equine therapy and is in a show for a fund raiser. She will wear her Halloween costume. She wore her red cape earlier in the week and cracked up when I put it on. She doesn't know I"m coming so it's going to be a surprise. I'm going over to her house to ride with her mom. It's going to be a hoot!!

Tina, I MISSED YOU!!!!! I hope ya'll had a blast!!!!! Did you have fun?

Tammy, what's the latest on on the house.....

Mimi, are your toes warm yet? It was 75 today for a high and it was great. I wishe it would stay that way.

Well, off to fold clothes...

Susan, I hope you really enjoy your day.
Tammy, I 'm so sorry about that house. You had your heart set on it. Maybe the next one will be as nice.
Amy, you need to post!!!
Sis and Maureen, where are you two?????
Jody are you still around?
Tracy, how was your week?
Mimi, we ate some clam chowder in sourdough rounds. We flew because it takes too long otherwise---not to mention a desert in between. (It takes 4 hrs on the plane.) I love riding the cable cars. We got in a lot of walking, too. I felt so healthy. I'm afraid I gained 5 pounds. Ooops!

Mimi....... Thanks for the welcome. I am enjoying this board. :)

Evening,

Hope everyone had a fun day! Mine was great :D My outing was a hoot!!! My girl was thrilled I was there and she was so cute. I came home about 4:45 and I was exhausted. Pat had band tonight and I stayed home. Shortly after he left I took an hour nap and woke up in a fog. :o Oh, I've been invited over to their house for Halloween and then they want to come here Pat's band play next weekend.

Tracy, welcome to the group. You'll love our group if I say so myself. You are off to a great start.

Tina, we might have to take a trip to help change the minds of the people who own that house...... ;)

Susan, I'm sure the little girl was absolutely thrilled to see you!!! Kids are so funny when they see their teachers, aren't they?

Tina, I've never been to SF. Maybe you could take me the next time since you didn't bring me a gift.

More house news. lol When the realtor called and said the couple had decided not to sell, she told us about a house (1/2 double) that was right next door to the first one. We went through it yesterday. It is bigger than the single house, and we like the floor plan much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this one needs paint and maybe new carpet, but we can handle that (as long as we hire someone to do the painting.). We put in a bid yesterday afternoon, and our realtor should get back with us soon. This one is a bit cheaper than the first one too. Maybe it's a good thing the couple decided not to sell.

I was talking to a couple teachers at church this morning. We decided that it is time for a snow day. I don't think we've ever had one this early, but that's ok. lol

auntie
10-23-2005, 04:31 PM
Hi,

Tammy, I can't wait to hear about the house. We could all come up and help do the painting, etc..... Just think how much fun we would have. :)

It is funny to have your students see you out. Her mom kept saying she thought she was going to school. When I got to their house she grabbed her back pack. I'm sure I thoroughly confused her!!! She kept staring and smiling at me in the car.

Tina, is it cold there? It's 55 degrees here and wet. It's funny because I'm freezing!!! I keep telling Pat, I think it's gonna snow soon. He just laughs...

Tracy, I checked out your website. I'm so afraid of becoming diabetic. My dad is and so are all of his siblings. My grandmother was too. I'm a carbon copy of my dad (so is Amy... Lil Sis) I'm checking out the diabetic info so I can start eating that way.

Amy, girl you NEED to post! It seems like I haven't talked to you in forever. I miss ya!!!

Mimi, don't work too hard. How are the boys doing?

Hi,
It was so slow getting in here today. Anyone else have trouble?

Susan, I thought I'd freeze this morning. It was colder in the house than outside. We might get down to the high 50's the next few nights. It's 80 degrees right now. Snow--??? what's that? Oh yeah, the white stuff.
Since we had it last Christmas Eve, I doubt we'll see any more for several years.
Tammy, I might be dumb, I don't know what a 1/2 house is. Please explain.... It sounds like this one is a lot better for y'all.

Tracy, keep up the good work.
Sis, please post.
Mimi, are you journaling what you eat? I need to start doing that again.
I see my ob/gyn in 2 1/2 weeks. Yipes! I've got to get with it and lose more before then . :o :o :o

Susan, that would be so much fun to have everyone help paint. I could sit and supervise. I said after we did all of the painting in this house that I would never do it again.

Tina, the house is a double. There are actually 2 houses, but they are attached. Kind of like a condo type thing. They both have 2 car garages so those help separate part of the house. I could draw a picture on here, but I don't think it's possible. I'm not a very good artist anyway. If we get the house, I could send a picture. HEY! I forgot that we have the digital camera!!!! Wonder how I send things with that? I need to find the instructions.

It is cold and rainy here. I don't like it.

10-23-2005, 09:52 PM
Tammy; please let us know asap about the house, it seems like things are working out better for you, and yes we should all show up some long weekend for a paint fest I think Tammy lives about 1/2 way between us all ???????? :)
Susan I have about 10 clients right now, one palliative and the rest in various stages.
The boys are doing great, Dan put in a double shift at Arby's today, and Mike has gone to have dinner with the (future) in laws.
He met Alicia's Mom and Dad after work one night this last week with flowers and Champagne, to let them know that he was going to ask Alicia to be his bride. Her Mom cried and her Dad gave him a talk about not being in a hurry and not hurting his daughter. I hope they take their time too.
Tina; I start every day writing it all down then after dinner I just seem to seek out the stuff I know I shouldn't eat. I have thrown out a lot of cookies and crackers lately as well as what makes it into my mouth. I know I can get it under control again, I'll just have to park myself in here in the evening and use two hands to type, then they can't be busy stuffing junk into the mouth.
Tracy; you are doing great and you stopped smoking too FANTASTIC.!!!!!!!!!

We are meeting with our realtor tomorrow to put a bid in writing. The owners pretty much accepted the verbal bid, so they want it in writing (official and all). We should know by the end of the week! Oh my goodness!!!!! Now decisions need to be made.
Important things like wall colors, carpet colors, etc.

Mimi, glad Dan is getting in hours at Arby's. The one where Tim works has sent people home early lately because they are over on hours (or something like that). That is so cool about Mike going to see her parents! Just what is a morning glory muffin?

We usually don't have treats around the house. We never have any visitors since the nieces and nephews are older. We are at the very edge of town where there are no sidewalks, so we don't get any trick or treaters. I made cookies last night. I've eaten two. I think I'm doing great!

It is still cold and rainy.

Don't you just love the pumpkin smiles!

It's not rainy but it sure is cool. It was in the low 40's last night. We didn't think our furnace was lit and so we were very cold this morning. Larry is going up into the attic tonight and light it if necessary. Brrrrr...... I don't do anything when it's this cold in the house.
I have the windows and doors opened hoping it might let the colder air out. :)

Hope everyone has a great day.

Recipe request------ does anyone have a good scone recipe? I'm in the mood to cook.

This is only the third time I've been to this guy. I also need to make a mammogram appt. Busy, busy, busy. It would seem I wouldn't have time to eat.

It has been quiet here! I know what you mean about doctor appointments. I'm going the Wed. before Thanksgiving for my mammogram. I had an eye appointment tday and then on Nov. 9th the ENT. I'll be glad when they are all over with.

NOt much is going on here. Oh wow, I just looked out the window and there is a beautiful sunset. I love our house facing west. I sit and watch them every night and think how each one is the most beautiful!!!!!!!

10-27-2005, 09:14 PM
Susan, it is funny that you said that about the school board. I've had so many of the parents of my students who have come to talk to me about things. They have been so supportive. Even parents that I wasn't sure about have come through for me. It's nice to be loved!!

I can't believe it is almost November! Time is going fast. I'll be glad that the school year is going by, but it's weird that this is Tim's senior year and it's going too fast!!

I weighed and stayed the same AGAIN. I feel like I'm doing ok, because honestly with all of the crap that has gone on at school, there are days that I really don't care and just eat.

More excitement in this little town. At the city council meeting the other night, they fired the village administrator and the treasurer! They had no idea they were being fired. I am going to be so glad to get away from here. Just living in another community will have to help the stress level. Tim will still finish the year here. He only takes 2 classes at the high school anyway, and the other 3 classes he takes at the community college. He's ready to move too.

I need to go work on papers. End of the 9 weeks and grade cards have to be finished by the middle of next week. We are doing them on the computer this year. Oh my word! It's more work than I thought it would be. I feel bad for the people who are not comfortable using computers.

Toodles!

Evening,
What's new with everyone? We went out for Chinese with some friends. This couple is in their 60's but look and act a lot younger. It's the first time we've had them over. I got the house soooooo clean. I hope I can keep it this way all through the holidays---which will be coming sooner than we think.

Tammy, what's new with the house? Did the people accept your offer? How far from you is it? How is Tim? Does he realize this is the very last year of school? Sometimes I think we parents think about it more than they do.

I have jury duty next Tuesday. I hope I'm not chosen for a panel and jury. Usually, I want to be picked. Guess I'm just tired and don't want to be bothered. :D

Susan, how is your weather? It's still cool here at nights.

Hi,
Been home a little, I went to the football game with my friend and his family. Pat's gone to visit his folks and will be home in the morning. His band plays tomorrow but I think I'm staying home since the time change will really throw me for a loop plus they play an hour longer.

School was good. It was a long week and I'm glad the weekend is here.

Tina, our weather is great. It is cool during the night and early am hours. I hope you had a yummy dinner. I love Chinese. Oh I got a jury summons 2 days ago for Dec. 5.

Tammy, what's the news on the house?

Mimi, are you still working a bunch?

Off to clean a little before bed. I'm really not sleepy but will head to bed soon. It's strange how when Pat's gone I stay up later and piddle around.

Good morning ladies. Sorry I have been kind of missing in action. It has been a long week. Hopefully next week will be much better!

First, the Chicago White Sox kept me and my family up late most of this week to see the games! One night we couldn't make it to the end! It was over at like 2 in the morning! But they finally won the world series!! So we have been excited about all of that.

Then this week was TOM so I have also been quite lazy due to that. For some reason I sleep a lot during this time. I don't know exactly why. But thank goodness that is almost over.

My weigh in on Thursday was ok. I gained 0.08 ounces this week. Which really is not to bad I don't think. I think this is due to TOM too. But again, it has been a lazy week so that probably has something to do with it too. :) Hopefully I will do better next week.

I am keeping more of a paper (regular notebook) journal of all of my food and exercise points now instead of doing the online tracker on the WW website. However, I think I am going to use both from now on. I will probably start that as of tomorrow because today is going to be a busy day and I won't be here to do it. And by the time I get home I will be to tired to sit here and mess with it lol.

Today I am going to visit my mom. And we are going to my grandma's to clean up her place for her and visit. My grandma has altzimers (sp is wrong I know) and my mom cares for her. And then I think we are going to one of my mom's friends house to help clean up her yard for the winter. This friend's husband died recently and she is older and could use some help with things. It is going to be a very long a busy day!!!

Hopefully all of the work I do today will get my butt back into gear for my exercising! I have not done anything all week! Like I said when TOM comes around I get really tired and lazy. But.. I can't let that keep me down forever! I have to get up and get moving every chance I can. :carrot: My husband got me a new VCR/DVD player so I don't have any excuse!! So now I will have to beat my meat lol.

My goals for this coming week are to 1. exercise everyday, and 2. to get in all of my meals!!! I have not been eating all of my meals lately! This probably is not going to help my weigh in this coming week! However, I am going to try and change that right away! I am bringing snacks with me today while I am gone so I make sure I get in snacks and everything today.

Anyway, I am going to go and get my day going here. I hope you all have a great day!! Stay warm and have fun! ;)

It was our first time to the World Series and y'all's first time to win since a long time ago. We didn't stay up for that one game, either. We had a long game like that in the play-offs against St. Louis. I stayed up for that one.

Susan, I don't like to sleep when Larry is away, either. I hope he enjoyed seeing his parents.

Hello all! The owners of the house made a counter offer to our offer, and we accepted it. We should have the closing by Nov. 15. We went up to the house today because Tim had never seen the inside. He spent the first 15 minutes in what will be his bedroom deciding how to place his furniture. He finally came out to see the rest! lol The carpet is better than I remembered. I thought it was lighter than it was. That will save us some $$ since we don't need to replace it. We plan to paint most of the rooms. Bathrooms don't have to be done, they are fine.

The new house is about 25-30 minutes from where we live. One of the other teachers lives less than 2 miles from the new house, and we've already talked about riding together. She taught 2nd grade with me until she was moved to 5th this year.

Tim definitely knows that this is his last year. If it was up to him, he'd head for college right now!! He will be doing some job mentoring in November with a probation officer
and a police chief. He is looking forward to that.

Jury duty. No fun. I've been called for it, but I've never had to serve.

Tracy, congrats on the White Sox!! I didn't watch the game, but my hubby did.

We are considering joining the YMCA when we move. There is one in the town where we are moving. There is also a Curves, so I may have to check into both of them. I like the Y because of the whirlpool and the pool. It really helps with the fibromyalgia. My rheumatologist has recommended it many times.

Chaperoned the band for the football game last night. It was soooooooooooo cold!! I take a folding comfy chair with me instead of sitting in the bleachers. The chair had frost on it when I was packing it up to leave!!!!!!!!!! Then I was helping put things into the band trailer and I fell in hole and twisted my ankle. It isn't swollen very much anymore, but it still hurts. The band goes to State Marching Band contest tomorrow afternoon. It's supposed to be in the low 60's and sunny. Much different than the football game!! (Thank goodness!)

Well, I need to go do something. I have a stack of papers to grade. I've been spending so much time working on the grade cards online, that I've put everything else on the back burner.

:) Boo!

Did that scare ya'll or was it the fact that I am actually posting?

Sorry that I have been MIA, I have been running an infermary, helping my oldest sister care for 2 orfanned 4 week old kittens.

For the last 10 days, between Rob, myself and all 3 kids, we have all had a stomach virus on top of allergies. I have had it the worst because just as I think I am over it, it starts all over. Needless to say I haven't even wanted to look at the computer. i get on, do my work, read emails and get off.

As for the kittens, they are really cute. 2 boys- one is gray and one is white with gray tips. The funny thing is that Rob and I rescued 3 kittens in a storm drain after a big rain a year ago this week. When I walked into our vet on Thursday he asked if I am going to be on vacation this week next year so we don't repeat again.

I think my moms will end up taking both of them. Sue and i were talking and it will be VERY good for her to give her something to focus on. I even think that my Dad is excited to have a kitty in the house.

Sue, Yes I slept in my UT pajamas. HOOK'EM! :D
