Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Another week is upon us-it just amazes me how time is flying these days!

I'm going to go for my usual walk this morning, so I'll make this a quick post:)

It's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY and here's my contribution:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

GET YOURSELF GOING

Where do you want to be, and when do you want to get there? Can you answer that question for your own life? Can you answer it in rich and specific detail?

Anything in the world is available to you when you make the decision to achieve it. Do you understand and fully comprehend what a powerful opportunity you have?

You can continue wishing, and hoping, and dreaming, and complaining about how unfair it is that other people get all the breaks. Or you can decide exactly what you wish to achieve and then take the necessary actions which will get you there.

Don't console yourself by thinking you couldn't possibly do it, because you can do it when you put your mind, your heart, your spirit, your time, effort and commitment into it. You can do it. Dream big dreams. Set ambitious goals. Then go out and make them happen, step by step, day by day, moment by moment.

It happens every day and it can happen for you, when you're really willing to make it happen. So don't delay another minute. Get yourself going right now.

-- Ralph Marston

SPARKLE, that's great that you don't have the headaches anymore, I hear it from a lot of people that when they cut out the aspertame, their headaches cut out as well. I bet they must have some interesting fruits in HI. Sounds like your birthday bash went well:) Thanks for sharing the pics!!! What camera do you use??

CHERI, you are really doing great and it seems all the effort you are putting forth, the walking, the journaling, eating small meals, etc. are paying off. Keep up the great work!!!:)

Okay, time to get ready and hit the pavement. I'll check in with you all later.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

PAR-TAY IN NANCE-MEISTER AND BOB'S ROOM IN LAS VEGAS!!!! Sounds like it will be the place to be!!! If I can get the $$ and the time off to come I'm certainly going to be there!

Whew! I'm glad to get to work to slow down!!!!!! We hit the ground running Saturday morning and didn't slow down all week-end. Got my flowers in the ground yesterday right before it started raining. They'll be much happier with room to spread their roots. Maybe we'll see more flowers from them, now.

We're going to bed early tonight so we'll be able to stay up past our bedtime at the WWF SMACKDOWN tomorrow night. Vince is giddy like a little boy. It's going to be fun! I'm thinking of going by Dunkin' Donuts tomorrow morning and then getting some helium ballons from Publix and taking a birthday package to the police department so he has some sort of celebration at work for his birthday. He loves getting mail so I'm going to mail him a birthday card today.

I've been faithfully posting to fitday for a week now. I'm getting the hang of it, but still have to tweak my food and proportions. I'll be glad when I get into a routine and get a good grip on this stuff. :)

Motivational thoughts for Monday:
"You can begin anything at any time. Rather than wait for the first of the month or Monday morning, begin whenever you're ready. Midmorning, late afternoon and right this minute are good times too."

Winners take chances.
Like everyone else,
they fear failing,
but they refuse
to let fear control them.

Winners don't give up.
When life gets rough, they hang in
until the going gets better.

Winners are flexible.
They realize there is more than one way
and are willing to try others.

Winners know they are not perfect.
They respect their weaknesses
while making the most of their strengths.

Winners fall, but they don't stay down.
They stubbornly refuse to let a fall
keep them from climbing.

Winners don't blame
fate for their failures
nor luck for their successes.
Winners accept responsibility
for their lives.

Winners are positive thinkers
who see good in all things.
From the ordinary, they make
the extraordinary.

Winners believe in the path they
have chosen
even when it's hard,
even when others can't see
where they are going.

Winners are patient.
They know a goal is only as worthy
as the effort that's required
to achieve it.

Winners are people like you.
They make this world
a better place to be.

DEBBIE - I had to laugh at Lauren's bra size - that's what I was at 12 years old. I went from flat straight to 38C! I thought my dad was never going to let me wear a bathing suit again. I guess a good definition of a goober would be "someone who acts like Goober from Andy Griffith." I totally agree with you on the English topic - move over and let me up on the soap box with you. You freakin' move to America - You freakin' learn to speak English!! Even when people were flocking to America way back when - they spoke their native tongue at home or in their mini-communities, but English everywhere else. That's the way it should be. <climbing off the soap box now> I do want to learn Spanish just so they can't use the I only speak Spanish excuse when I need to know something they don't want to tell me. (Vince runs into that quite a bit at work)

Mangos? We can't have mangos??? Now I'm really confused. I thought mangos were okay?? I've probably had one mango a week since they've been in season. Doesn't the book say they are moderate on the glycemic index? Are moderate - level glycemic foods not okay? Can we have Acorn Squash? What's a good "cut off" point on the glycemic index to not go above?

BOB - So Castaway lived up to the hype? That's good to know. We want to rent that some time. O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU? is on our "to rent" list - I've *GOT* to see anything from Mississippi, ya know!?! PAY IT FORWARD sounds like "chick flick" material meaning I would have to watch it sometime when Vince is working, but, like you, I don't always get in to chick flicks and I really have to be in the mood for it. WHAT WOMEN WANT had me holding my sides and laughing out loud. I guess the funny parts outweighed the slow moments for me on that one. ('Course, Mel Gibson ain't hard to look at!) A "feel good" movie filmed in Clermont, Florida across the lake from one of my friends at work is "Walking Across Egypt" - it's a good movie. I recommend for a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon. They had whole salmon on sale for $7 one time at Publix and I bought one and they cut it up into steaks for me. We were in heaven eating salmon every week.

FROG - You had me going there on the 2nd house! Camping out in the yard sounds like my kind of camping. The comforts of home are never too far away! Vince and I pay cash for everything. We got out of debt completely when we got married and cringe at the thought of having to pay interest on anything. As a result we are averaging one major purchase about a year and half. We saved for 2 years for the "perfect" tv cabinet only to have them increase the price by $200 - soooo, we saved some more and they had upped it another $100! By the time we saved the extra $100 (we really wanted this armoire/cabinet!) we were so pissed at Wood You that we went shopping other stores and were never going to go back there again. We did - just for s---s and giggles - and lo, and behold, the price was back down to the original price! This year we bought a dining room table and 4 chairs - so we can actually have company over for a nice dinner. It is fun to work toward something and finally reach that goal.

NANCEMEISTER - maybe all us fitday users should put our journals public and then we'd really be accountable!?! I'm still trying to figure this stuff out, too. I didn't think I was eating so much fat, but putting things into fitday it looks like I've been eating a lot more fat than I thought I was. DEBBIE's post looks like there are pictures of you and Dan the Man out there -- where are they????? Am I going to have to buzz the buzzer?!?!? I had to laugh at your mom's coupons for Dan. If we did that for Vince it would have to start with enduring meeting my Daddy for the first time. If you saw "Meet the Parents" -- it was almost that cold a reception as Daddy stared him down while wearing his mafia-looking black turtleneck. Just making sure he wasn't gonna hurt his little girl. :)

GATORGAL - Enjoy having the house to yourself this week. That's when I do girlie things like light tons of candles, put on some James Taylor, Carley Simon, Carole King, etc. and take long Calgon baths. (ahhhhh......) Thanks for the countdown to the kickoff! Twill be a fun season for sure! I admire you for learning French. I took it in college, but all I learned was "Je ne comprends pas." (I don't understand) and "Voulez-vous couche avec moi" ("would you go to bed with me", but I didn't learn that in class <grin>). When I worked at Church Street Station I had my spiel down pat in French.

QUILTER - I agree with your observations on the structure. I thought I had been eating right - and SB-wise, I was okay, but the carb/protein/fat ratios were all skewed and the calories have been way to low - Darn! Gonna have to eat more. :) Congrats on the big loss!!

CHERI - Woo Hoo on that 4 lb. loss! Walking and water definitely makes a difference. I'm trying to make sure I'm up on my water intake and fiber - the exercise I don't have too much trouble with right now.

RHOO - I'm so sorry you lost your post! What a cutie-pie!! She is ADORABLE!! Thank you for posting the picture for all of us!!

SPARKLE - 2 lbs. down - VERY COOL!! AND your party sounds like it was a blast - I'm glad!! Neat that your whole family could be there! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Your neice is adorable - and you look great!! Your parents look like a lot of fun. They must be - they raised you, didn't they? You had to get that energy and motivation and great sense of humor from somewhere! **** ON WHEELS AND FROGGIE teaming up together in one place?!?! SCARY!! I can only imagine the pictures that will be posted after that outing! I checked out the forums. He puts quite a bit of work into that - very nice. And quite the plethora of topics on the threads -- I could get lost on there looking at all those topics!

 Have a great day, Everybody!!

Hi Girls!

I'm so happy to be OFF today!!! My Family will be leaving this monrning and I will be gluing myslef to reading self-help books re:weight loss. Thank you everyone one for the yelling, support, empathy, I need it all. I ended up throwing up last night from eating BAD food. Just didn't settle with my tummy, so today I have every intention of being on plan.

Gatorgal
I took French in High School, but don't remember a thing! I think it is such a romantic language. My French teacher was so sophisticated, and of course had been France several times. She left quiet the impression on me! I'm such an incureable romantic, but realistically, I wish I would have taken Spanish! Oh well!

Deb
I don't know WHAT I was thinking! If I was THINKING I wouldn't have been so evil! No, Dan was not around for the breakfast. He saw me eat the cake, then I felt guilty and put 1/2 of the piece back in the pan. I need to get a grip and get with it! I'm really starting to feel depressed and mentally beating myself up. I don't know if I'm the only one who is honest and fesses up when I blow it, or if everyone else is OP 100%. It seems like when other people go off, it's a small minor infraction to the damage I can do! I went down 1lb. since yesterday, so now I'm at 223, but my low OP was 218, so 5 pounds is my mini goal, and then I think I will like myself again!!

Quilter
That's great you had such a good loss! Congratulations! You're doing yourself proud and doing us proud!

I have to visit fitday.com and get into the groove of things. The picture that Debbie is referring to is one I sent to her in the mail!
I don't have a scanner! I will figure out something so you can see my mugshot, but now you are probably curious to see Dan the Man! Debbie keep thinking he looks like someone on tv!
He looks like a cop to me, he's just your average guy, but of course I think he's cute!

Well I'm going to get. I will write more later for sure. Dan will be heading off for his Father's Day Massage at 10:00! and I will have some quiet around here! Thanks again everyone, I know I didn't address everybody, but I really appreciate this group more than anything in the world!

Hello All!

I'm back in Auburn now, trying to sort through mail and newspapers from being gone for almost two weeks. I'm still wiped out and I'm teaching Bible school all this week! First and second graders are a lot different than college students--let me tell you!

It feels nice to be back in my own home where I can control my food choices so much better. I do OK on the road--but better at home. The only thing is that our VBS is at night so dinner is included. I've seen the menus and they are mostly starches. I think I'm just going to have to carry a salad with me most nights!

I'm going to try to come up with something motivational and get back to you tonight--I'm just not in a very motivational mood right now.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Oh My Goodness!! I've been gone so long that I didn't recognize the board!! What has happened? I see lots of new stuff here. I feel like I've been gone forever!! :dizzy:

Well we made it back from vacation last Sat night, had to wade in 6" of water in the yard to unload the car & things have been crazy ever since. I found that my computer had a major problem & I could not get online. I tried to fix it & BOY, DID I EVER FIX IT! Things went from bad to worse, so it was a full week before we had time to sit here & reformat the whole thing. I lost 3/4th of my info, but at least we're back online.

Just wanted to say a quick hello & let you all know that I'm back. Will check back a little later. Have to go put up groceries. Hoping to scan a couple of pictures to post tonight.

Oh, BTW, I managed to stay OP while we were gone & maintained my weight. Didn't even gain an ounce. As a matter of fact, I went down to 149 by last WIW, so I was very excited about that. Of course with the stress of this past week-end & getting this puter back up & running, I'm afraid I did not fare as well  Will wait & see what the scale says this WIW.

See ya'll back on the board later

I LOVE FITDAY!!!!!

Why, oh why did I not listen to you all earlier???? Man, this is really sweet! It’s telling us some amazing things. Really clears up a lot of problems for me.

CHERI---I like that idea of many small meals a day. I think that’s what DEB does. I’m glad you found something that works for you. And I’m also glad that you feel okay to get your walking back into your day. Are you still getting up at the awful hour??? Getting any easier????

DEB---I loved your motivation today. That was awesome and I needed to be reminded of it. I hate when other people get stopped so easily in life. But I do it too. If we keep going we get to the glorious end, right?

SOL---You are cracking me up with this WWF thing!!! How much fun you will have there. And be sure to do some people watching and come back with stories for us. I read the book Walking Across Egypt and loved it. It’s by a guy named Clyde Edgerton and he’s awesome. And I did not know about it being a movie . . . pretty excited now!!!!!

NANCE---Sorry to hear you had the pukes last night. That really is the pits!!! Hope all is better today. You’re not being too hard on yourself are you???

FILLISE---Glad to hear you are back at home safe and sound! How was your trip??? Watch out for those 1 & 2 grade VBSers. They can be pretty ruthless. Seriously, hope you make it through the week.

MELF---Welcome back!!!! Glad to know you made it. And relieved to hear that all your things weren’t floating when you got back. We missed you, but glad you had a good trip. Congrats about staying on program and about hitting 149. FANTASTIC!

SEF---I got your email. THANKS!!!! We sure have a lot to say to each other, huh? You are cracking me up about the glass of SC in one hand. LOL!!!

For Motivational Monday, I think I’ll quote Oprah from Make the Connection:
True love begins with yourself. You can give and give an dgive to other people. Care for them, nurtur them, support them. But it’s the support and care and love that you give yourself that gives you the real strength to care for and love others. This has been a long and difficult lesson for me to learn, but I’m finally getting it. . . . Each day I put for the effort to take care of myself, work out, eat healthy food, deal with my feelings and not bury them in a gian bag of Dorito’s, confront people when necessary, tell people the truth, and tell myself the truth. This has changed my life--I have been freed from my own personal prison.

Well, that’s it for now. Take care. I’ll check back later.

Evening All:wave:

Wow, board is sure slow for a Monday - where is everyone:?:

Took the kids to my Mom's apt house that she owns and works at on Mondays so they could go in the pool. I ran to the HFS just to see what they had new, a small one I rarely go to because the prices are so darn high.

Lauren got the call she was waiting for-she's going to camp!!! YEAH!!! Not until the middle of July, and only for 4 weeks, actually, 2 days shy of 4 weeks, but she's going!!!

Made delicious "nachos" for dinner tonight-took 8 WOVEN WHEATS (Whole Foods brand of triscuits) some refried beans, a little chicken, cheese, sour cream and salsa-delicious, not filling enough, but delicious!

SOL, you had me laughing about the doughnuts-not a cake, but doughnuts-what's a cop without one of those in his hand?!? Have a great time tomorrow and tell Vince HB! Thanks for the motivational thoughts. Mangos, well, they are a bit high on the GI and I chose not eat them, but decided to try a small one last week. I don't think I'll eat them again for a while, they are high in carbs and very low in fiber-I'd rather have raspberries instead, 13 grams of fiber in about 6 ounces of those babies! Acorn squash is a winter squash, high on the GI, but so are sweet potatoes, which are okay, in moderation. I would say, if you like it, eat it with a lower GI food and only on occasion. You can eat a high GI food and a low GI food and it will give it a moderate GI effect, so keep that in mind :)

NANCE, okay, I want to know what Dan did when he saw you eating that cake? I'm going to have to coach THE MAN in the fine art of giving you the look of the devil should you try eating stuff like that again:s::devil: Don't beat yourself up, does no good, that's for sure. No, not everyone is op 100% all of the time, just neurotics like myself! You do your best and if that's your best, then you live with that. You have to want this more than anything, to lose the weight - more than a stupid piece of cake! My thoughts have always been...Hershey's was around before I was born, they will be around long after I'm gone and they aren't going bankrupt without me buying their product! Should I want a piece of Hersheys, it will be there, but it will be AFTER I lose my weight (but honestly, now, I'd tend to say I'd stick with the SB stuff before eating that cheap junk ever again). Some people can easily go off plan for a treat, or a meal, and not suffer at all from it-I am the type that can't stop, so that's why I don't cheat, I know I have no limits and once I start, it's a free for all!!! You'll be fine, just keep focused!!!

FILLISE, WELCOME BACK! Glad to see you back safe and sound!!! How did you fair on the scales?

MELF, WELCOME BACK! Glad to see you have your computer back on line. Happy to hear you were able to stay OP and not gain-a wonderful accomplishment when one is on vacation!!!!

QUILTER, glad to hear fitday is helping! Yes, I too eat small meals, or actually, I think of it more as grazing. If I'm home, I eat whenever I feel hungry-for me, I think this really helps. Thanks for posting those Oprah thoughts:)

Okay gals, I'm outta here. I'll check in with you all later tonight. Poor Eli had to be at work at 6:30am and won't be home til 12:30am, so I may try to stay up late tonight.

Please remember, TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST and it's also TUESDAY TIPS so if you have any good tips you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow!

Later!

KAREN2000--My DH is staying in the dorm there at the university. He has a single room, that happens to have 2 single beds. If I had stayed with him, I would have had to go up one flight every time I wanted to go to the bathroom.:( Somehow, I couldn't imagine hangin' out all week in a dorm room. So that is why I stayed home. We thought long and hard, though about coming up, and could have gotten a room at a hotel or motel. But we are saving our dollars for a vacation in the fall, so that is why we decided against it. I know it is wonderful up there now. Robie, my DH, took his golf clubs, and will be on the course any time he has some free time. Probably every afternoon after 5. should be enough light for him to get in 9 holes.

**** On Wheels--Good pix. Those pictures of you look different, somehow. Maybe it is your hair. I remember the one of you when it was brunette.

Hey everyone. So nice to have a few posts to read through tonight.

I was a VERY good girl today :D Dh & I got up at 5:00, had a little coffee and went for a 2-miler. Tomorrow I will rest and run again on Wed. On that note I also called Disney today to find out info on the 2002 Marathon so that I could get more plans for that going. That will help me know better whether or not the Vegas thing is gonna happen.

I tried a vegetarian chili recipe tonight that was in cooking light that is totally SB legal! I will post it this week.

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY TIP:
This is something that I have done before and plan to do for the Disney marathon. What is that you are all dying to know? I make a collage to get motivated about an event. I made one for my first (and only 10-K) and the Disney marathon. I cut out pictures and word clips from magazines that inspire me and say what I want to feel or think, to help me get toward that goal. I usually post these over my desk at work where I can read them often. The little mantras run through my head and I can "pull one up" when I need them. That is where the closing I use "unleash your feet" comes from. I also really like the one from the "moving Comfort" workout clothes company "A fit one is a powerful woman." Anyway, these collages are a reflection of me and have assisted me in acheiving my goals. Maybe one of yours isn't a marathon or a fitness goal at all. Maybe it is a beautiful flower garden, a new job, or a healthier lifestyle. If you need a little something to help you stay focused, may I suggest a collage?

DEB - your nachos sounded great! I would like to try them sometime.

QUILTER - I have got to try Fitday. I haven't even visited that site.

I love that term "Goober." It is one of those terms that we were allowed to use that word to refer to people that we thought were geeks or dorks!

Well I guess that wraps it up for me tonight.

Hope all are having a great day.

Peace,
Frog

This is was me this morning!

Have been very remiss in keepting up. I am going to have to look into the Fit site. We have dried out here, but some of the harder hitpeople are still cleaning up. I feel so sorry for them. FEMA has come in but nothing can replace some things you have lost.

I feel like I am losing but am afraid of the scale. If not pounds at least inches should go. My gdtr is hanging in the background so I suppose I'd better let the poor deprived girl online. But not before I post this!

DEB - You could try the reverse psychology, but kids are pretty hep (an ancient word!) and would probably see thru it. Gdtr was going thru a period of dark colors but she has lightened up quite a bit!

Quilter - Congrats are being down! Judy Dench was in "As Time Goes By" which I loved. They don't carry it here. PBS is running "Are You Being Served" which is really old, back in the 70s, but it is still silly fun. Never saw Yes Minister. There
was one about a female Espiscopal priest, and how the little church she was sent to accepted her and the misadventures that occured in the town with her. Wow! That ol' scale is movin rapidly in the right direction! Lucky you to go to a ball game when mydd lived in Baltimore area we used to go to Veterans's Field. Now they have Camden Yards .what a difference. We would got when the Royals or Yankees were there. Congrats on plannin ahead to be able to handle the food thing.

Nance - I think suspension from the Board comes under cruel and unusual punishment. I think your guilty feelings are punishment enough! About 90' in the shade and humidity on way up. The other day when you opened the day it was like being hit in the face by a very wet hot towel! A little better today. I liked The Patriot too. Mel is good. On talk shows I like his sense of humor, he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously.

SPARKLE - I asked about headaches. My dil gets severe migraines and I had seen on Sweetalk that someone thought they had less headaches since being on this woe. I just wondered if anyone else had that experience. Thanx for your
input. My family halfway eats what I eat since I do most of the cooking. If I fix them something I can't have I just whip up something somple, like an omelet for me. Maybe dil should eat my way completely. Your BBQ sounded ;ike a great time.

RHOO = A real sweetie!

Take care all!!

ORANGE---Yes, Paul's office is within walking distance. It's about 10 or 11 blocks, and it was such a beautiful day yesterday. We love to walk around downtown. The old architecture is beautiful and there are some really cool things to see. (Also a lot of people asking for handouts . . . that's the not nice part.) Oh, I LOVED your cartoon!!! Here's the small world thing . . . Randy Glassenberg (sp?) did all kinds of artwork for us when I was working at the publishing company. He's great. Glad to see he's got a website and glad to see you found him!!!! Cool.

Okay I have a question about fitday. I can't find any entry for a plain old grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast. You'd think that would be the ONE chicken item that would be there. I honestly can't remember the last time I ate a chicken back or a chicken foot. So what do you all do about it. What should I enter? I'm stumped on this one. Thanks! Ooops, just thought of another question . . . is there a place to record a daily vitamin?

It's only 8:30 and I've already nodded off once here in front of the computer. I'm afraid I'll start drooling on the keyboard. So I'm going to get the jams on and hit the hay. How's that for excitement. TOM is just around the corner and sometimes it does a number like this on me.

Nitey night, one and ALL!!!!!

Evening!

Debs
Dan told me to tell you "He did give me the evil eye" (that's why I put 1/2 of the cake piece back in the pan), but I think he didn't want to say something to me with all my family around! I worked on my SB folder today. There's a section for recipes, a section for motivation, on for the site, one for photos, etc. Pretty cool. Made a neat artsy cover for myself and set it in front of my eyes to stay foused.

Frog
Of course there is room!!!!! You, me, BOB, and Sol. WE ARE THERE!!!! I Can't wait to meet everyone! This is going to be so much fun. I'm always broke, but I said **** or high water I was going to get out there, so I'm saving my bucks starting now!

Quilter
I had trouble finding something on fitday, and can't believe with what I ate, prior to dinner added up to 50 something grams of fat.
I had two eggs, a piece of WW sourdough for breakfast, some left over carne asade meat at lunch, a bran muffin for a snack, and I'm already in trouble! I thinkit will take some time getting use to! Keep me posted!

BOB
Hope that thunderstorm isn't scaring Skeeter! I think that's a great goal for the Birthday party, and one you should be able to achieve. EVeryone that sticks on plan seems to loose a good portion of weight within a year, and there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to unless you follow the errors of my ways!

Sef
It was 114 degrees here today. I don't know what the humidity was, but I've had the air on ALL DAY LONG!!!! Haven't rented any great movies lately. Might pop into the video store tonight and see if there is anything good. Any recommendations?

Melf
Glad your back safe and sound and that you got the bugs out of your computer. If you need everyone's e.mail addresses Lara made a list I can e.mail to you. Just let me know!

Well, I better start cooking dinner. It's Dans real B-day today. Making BBQ's country pork ribs, and his favorite mashed potatoes and gravy and some legal veggie for me to eat! I haven't really done much on my power day off, but it feels good just not to have to be to work on a Monday like always.

Goodnight!

As most of you know, while we were vacationing in NSB, FL DH & I had the opportunity to meet 2 wonderful gals from the board.
We had a wonderful time chatting over lunch & getting to know more about each other. We took pictures before we parted to remember our meeting.

This first picture, from left to right, is SolShine (her name fits her perfectly) She has a contagious laugh that touches the soul. Solshine, you're beautiful, inside & out!

I'm in the middle.

Gator gal is to the right. Gator designed her T-shirt with gators of course! She is also a bubblely sweet person & we seemed to have alot in common, except for her love of sports. Gator, I'm so glad we had the chance to meet. You are a doll!

Hi. everyone! It seems like I have been off of the boards forever! I tried to post last night but it somehow disappered... I had a great visit with my sister and was amazed that I was able to stay on program while she was here. I did fairly well this weekend with my boyfriend in town, but I did have some Raisenets! Oh, well...I will do better next time!
It sounds like everyone is doing so well and staying on program. I am doing great in terms of eating but I really need to start exercising again. I was working out every day and then I left my shoes at home in Jacksonville and was lazy for a while. My sister brought them to me this past week but I have yet to put them back on! Ugh, I just can not seem to get the motivation. Once I move back home for the summer (next week, I can not wait-I miss my family tons!) I will have to exercise because my mom, dad, and sister all do religiously.
Well, I have got to run. I am having a hard week-finals and projects-uggh! I can not wait for the end of this semester!!!
Talk to you all later!

Hi everyone

This is just a quickie to say Hi to you all. I am still on holiday. I will be flying home tomorrow afternnoon. This is the first time I have had access to a computer in the last two weeks. I am in an Internet Cafe at Convent Garden in London. I've had a good vacation, seen lots of family and travelled around the country.

I have definitely not been on plan during the last two weeks and know I have gained a few pounds. Hopefully when I get back on track again the pounds will fall off!!!!!!!!! I am really looking forward to exercising again. Even though I have done quite a lot of walking these last couple of weeks I have also done a lot of sitting. I took a four day bus trip around Britain and we were travelling several hours every day. I can't wait to get back to swimming and playing badminton again.

I've just quickly scanned a few of the posts. Will have to catch up with everyone later in the week.

GloryB - It's good to see you back on line again. I was wondering what had happened to you. Hope to hear all your news soon.

Melf - I loved the pictures you posted of yourself, Gator and Solshine. Not forgetting Thurston and Daxton.

I'd better finish this. I'm spending the day visiting a few of the places in London that I never got to visit last time I was here. There is so much to see. Things have really changed since I moved away from here.

Will check in again when I get home and try to catch up with you all.

I hope you all have a good WIW.

Bye for now

Marie.

Good Morning!

I woke up early and thought it would be a good time to post.
Coffee is brewing!

Melf
Thanks so much for the pictures!!!! I have been printing any pictures that are shared. By the time we meet in Vegas, I will feel like I know everyone! Your Grandson is a cutie!

Rosalie
Good to see you post, and hope you have a safe flight home. We will all be interested to hear about your journeys in detail when you get home and after you have time to catch your breath! Seems like you almost need a vacation after a vacation to get adjusted. Hope you have a few days off before going back to work!

Dan the Man and I watched "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".
I didn't care for it at all. I was surprised becuase I heard so many reviews about it, but I was disappointed.

Well, I'm going to get my cup 'o Joe, then maybe I will ave something more fascinating to share later this morning!

MELF - WELCOME BACK!!! I totally empathize with the computer thing! We've been through a hard drive crash before and it is NO FUN. You feel like you've lost so much. Glad to have you back up and running! Congrats on staying OP the whole time you were on vacation. I'm not surprised, though. You've made up your mind to eat right and that nothing is going to deter you - I can tell. Thanks for posting the pics! Daxton is a cutie pie! How adorable he is!

QUILTER - Fitday is very cool, isn't it? I had no idea I was eating so much % fat in my day until I started using it. My calories were what I had planned for them to be, but since the percentages were so skewed it's no wonder the weight wasn't moving. Besides, since I'm a computer geek I like playing with the reports. :D I do a search on an item instead of looking through the foods listed. I also have to manually enter most everything I eat. If you have the calories, etc. from the labels of the food you eat, check them carefully with what's in Fitday. I've found that they can differ widely sometimes. (I go with the label, don't know what others do.) I had the vitamin question, too, but forgot to look into it.........Okay, just updated my fitday for supper yesterday and realized - DUH! - custom food - enter our vitamins there as a custom food - just copy off the label. I'll have to do that from home tonight.

DEBBIE - Glad Lauren is getting to go to camp! Sounds like BOTH of you will enjoy that!! Your nachos sound delicious! There must've been a memo. I had a taco salad with lettuce, beans, salsa, sour cream and a "smidgin" of cheese with 3 1/2 Triscuits for supper last night. Those beans really fill me up. Since the Dr. is the one who put me on SB I guess I should probably take the stricter route regarding the glycemic index. BUT...........since I already have these mangos - if I mix them with my cherries, that would be okay this time I guess. Then I'll take the "Debbie Philosophy" of, I can have them if I want later, but not until I reach my goals. :)

NANCE - I'm sure we all (except Debbie) blow it big sometimes. I honestly haven't had a meltdown yet. I'm having the darndest time trying to eat 100% OP and not losing weight because I've chosen "just ok" instead of "best" regarding food choices that my cheats have been unintentional lately (see mango incident above :) ). Now, if I break down and eat a dozen Krispy Kremes one day I promise I'll 'fess up right here where I'll have to face what I've got coming. You're doing fine. So you made a couple of bad choices - you'll do better next time when you reflect on how you felt and the consequences of those choices. Pick yourself up and keep on moving - you're just that much smarter now! <grin>

BOB - I have NO DOUBT that you can make your goal!! You're darn tootin right that if you can quit smoking you can do anything!! That's gotta be one of the hardest things some of us ever do. If I'm able to go you KNOW[b] I want to be where the action is!!!! And you [b]KNOW that's wherever YOU and NANCEMEISTER are!! :D Hope you got the rain we did yesterday (without the hail)!! I do like sitting and listening to the rain and watching the lightening.

FROG - Love the collage idea. A friend of mine did a little book similar to that with quotes and "fat" pictures and "skinny" pictures. I just need to get my rear in gear and put one together for me. I DO have the Ralph Marston quote from one Monday about making decisions and them being the building blocks of success - That would definitely be one important quote for my collage.

SEF - Glad to know y'all are drying out up there. We're finally getting our much needed rain down here. However, it hailed on my car yesterday and I was not a happy camper!

UFGIRL - How great that your whole family is fitness conscious! My dad always was, but my mom wasn't so I'd hang out with her. :) After I moved out of town and started getting into shape (50 lbs. ago) I enjoyed the one on one time walking/jogging around the neighborhood with my daddy when they came to visit. Sounds like it'll be easy to get back into the habit with such good influences around.

STARCHASER - Let us know how it goes at the Dr. As for the "heading east" -- I've got one thing to say to that.....
"WE GOT SOME DAWGS UP IN HERE!! WOOF! WOOF!!"

MARIE - If you get to read this - we're looking forward to reading about your trip and seeing any pictures you have to share with us! We're looking forward to having you back posting regular, too. We miss you when you're not here! I ordered the glycemic index from NDIC on one of your tips and it just got here. It's going to be very valuable information for me to have handy. Thank you!!

Well, tonight is WWF night and my office mate brought in some convenient binoculars for us to use. QUILTER, it will be prime people-watching for sure!! Tomorrow is Vince's birthday and he wants pizza so we're trying to find a good restaurant to go to for that - I'll find something SB friendly to eat.

 have a great day everyone!!

Well this weekend we tore down our old deck and put up a new split rail fence, bought some pontoon seats and cleaned those and put them on the pontoon. Haven't started the new deck yet, but plan on this weekend after we go to a Graduation Open House. Very busy weekend and my daughter isn't feeling very well either, not sure what's wrong with her. We did go tubing down the river on sunday and didn't get home until late. Got alot of sun and relaxed for a few hours. Didn't get any workouts in this weekend, but will work extra hard this weekend. Starting Monday I enrolled my kids in swim lessons, so after work on mondays it's fly to the college for classes. Never ending GO GO GO.

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:

Trying this again, got half a post done and lost it. My computer is REALLY acting up lately and it keeps giving me all different kinds of error messages. The last one was a program error that locked me up and all I could do was shut down, so lost my post:cry:

Got my butt out of bed this morning and did my 4.5 miles. Not jogs and went slow, just wasn't in the mood, but went anyhow. May try to take off from walking tomorrow, so told myself I had to get up today.

Eli is off today. Not sure what our plans will be, esp. with the kids being home-something cheap is all I know!

Today is TUESDAY TIPS and I have 2 small ones to share. On my last trip to the Super Walmart I found a butter I had never heard of or seen before called CHURN MAID ALL NATURAL REDUCED FAT BUTTER[/color} It says it's 25% less fat than regular butter or margarine and is good for baking & cooking. 1 Tablespoon as 70 calroies 8 grams fat, 5 which are saturated. Made by Ventrua Foods. Second item is from a company called AUNT GUSSIE'S COOKIES & CRACKERS. I bought ORANGE BISCOTTINI'S that are Fat & Sugar Free and made with Organic Spelt Flour. 3/4 ounce has 60 calories and 15 carbs-they have a toll free number if you want to see if they can tell you who may carry them in your area: 1-800-4A-COOKIE.

BOB, I KNOW you can reach your goal for this party! Like you said, if you can quit smoking, you can do ANYTHING you set your mind up to doing.

FROG, kudos to you for getting up at 5am! Okay, stupid question here-how far is 10K in lingo I can understand????

SEF, some people find it easier to measure their success in how their clothes fit vs what the scale says-do whatever you feel comfortable with-no one has to weigh in, it's the choice you make-plus, you don't want to ge obsessed, like me! On your headaches question, many people who had headaches and cut out aspertame find they no longer have them. My neighbor is one example, she no longer uses sugar or aspertame, only agave nectar to sweeten her drinks, no more headaches!

QUILTER, if you put in CHICKEN BREAST, all your options should come up on fit day, like, Chicken, breast, with or without bone, broiled, skin not eaten was in there.

NANCE, sorry I had to run during our chat. I'm confident you will be just fine, we're all behind you 100%! The folder sounds nice - would love to actually see it in VEGAS!!!!

MELF, thanks so much for sharing the pics with the board:) It's so nice to put your name to a face now. Hope to have the chance to meet you as well in the future! Oh yes, and Daxton, what a cutie!!!!

Okay, I've been told my time is up, sorry I wasn't able to respond to the rest of you all, but promise to do so later. I forgot, we have a cocktail party (casual) to go to tonight form 6-8pm at the Bacardi's main office for the volunteering we did, so our day is almost shot already!!

Please remember, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!

Gotta run!

I forgot to put in my Tuesday Tip (what a GOOBER! Maybe I should change my log-in name). I was so excited thinking about sharing this last night. Here it is:

Sunday when we got home from the grunchy store I cut up all my lunch items and put them in individual serving size baggies: 5 bags of lettuce, bags of peppers, bags of celery, bags of chicken tenderloins, bags of roast beast slices, bags of cherries, bags of lemon slices (for water), peeled boiled eggs, etc....

This way I can grab whatever I feel like having that day and not have to think about what I'm going to eat for lunch. I can grab different veggies each day so my salads still have variety. This is my first week to do this, but seems like a good idea and I have a lot more time in the mornings now. :)

DEBBIE - Have you looked at Smart Balance butter? It has no trans-fatty acids (is that the same as hydrogenated? There's no hydrogenated oils in it) It's 80 calories, 9g fat in 1 Tbsp. - 2.5 are saturated. I'll look for the Churn Maid next time we go shopping.

Hello, I'm sitting here typing watching a red bellied woodpecker trying to drink from one of my hummingbird feeders. How peaceful!

Yesterday was not so good. I didn't have time to pick up a salad before Bible school and when I got there they didn't serve a single thing I could eat! I was hungry so I ate small servings of the entree and side dishes. I have learned the hard way that if I let myself get to the starving state then I inhale everything in sight when I do eat. Tonight I have to make the time to pick up a salad before I go. Other than that teaching VBS is fun. My kids are really rowdy so I've decided to focus on games that "teach" but allow them to blow off some steam too. :dizzy:

I finally got that muffin recipe I was looking for and made muffins this morning. They were the best I've had since I've been on the WOE . I'll post the recipe on the recipe board today or tomorrow. The best thing is that one slice of SGWWSF bread ends up making three muffins--so they are very filling!

My tip for the day is to simply plan ahead. I try to think through situations I may face where food might be a problem and develop strategies to cope. Of course that means actually following through--which I did not make the time to do last night, but will make myself do today. I'm going to a church conference in July where they will provide all the meals. I'm already mentally packing the cooler of "survival" food I will take with me. I think I will be taking some of my muffins!

Have a good day everyone!

Hey Everyone...
Just wanted to quickly check in and say hi. It's been an emotional time for me between my dad, this issue with this "friend" of mine, and the end of the school year. I need to spend time working on how to "let go" of other people's issues and not internalize things. Anyone have any experience with that?

All this stress and worry has had an effect on my appetite, so altho I have not been exercising, I still seem to be wavering between 133 and 134, which is great. Eating OP with a few slipups....but I'm glad I'm holding steady.

Congrats to all the losers and go for it to all the not-yet-losers!

I have been reading the posts daily and it's been a great pick me up.

Back soon,

Hello Ladies:)

I'm so thrilled to be back. time seems to get away from me and I've been on this thing all morning writing to my son. he's out to see until nov. 9th so I have to keep in touch with him on the puter. Thank God for the Puter. I'v be lost if I couldn't talk to him. I'm one of those Mothers who never learnt how to let go. My kids mean the world to me and of course so does DH. Well I haven't had time to read all the post and probabley never will. so to any of you that posted a responce. I've thrilled to be back.
as for whats been going on with the Eating. I've had a battle. Yesterday I was 1lb from the 100lbs off mark and to day I'm 4lbs and I worked in the yard for 2 hrs yesterday. I must have gained all that sweat instead of it falling off me I must have sucked it in and gained :o oh well this too will pass. I have gone back to tops sence I didn't have the support group. Oh you have no idea how I've missed you. Anyway the group I went back to is my old group and they've never seen me this size before and so there really interested in SugarButers so I've been telling them about it and you all. I'm hoping some of them will join the board. like i told them you girls really help and can answer all there questions. Hey All!

Just got home, only had time to go for lunch, Eli had to meet his boss for 15 minutes which turned into 1 hour, an hour drive to lunch, and an hour back, I know, we probably spent more in gas getting there than we saved on lunch-oh well.

Anyhow, we are going to this cocktail thing from 6-8 at the Bacardi headquarters for the Xmas in April volunteering we did, just going because Eli wants to go, I don't plan on eating anything. Hopefully, I'l be home by the time chat rolls around. We are dropping the kids to visit with my parents while we are there and then have to pick them up, so if for any reason I'm not there, you'll know we are running a bit behind-buy hopefully, I'll be able to jump in and join you!!

Here's the link to the chat room:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbchat.php

That was so sweet that ROSALIE sent us a message all the way from the UK-you know she was thinking about us while vacationing! I hope upon her return she finds all the walking counteracted whatever she ate that was off plan:)

SOL, you don't have to be as strict as I am, not that there's harm in it, but I'm sorta neurotic about staying OP. Try your best to watch the GI of foods. Have fun at the WWF!!!! Is it televised?? If so, you should take a banner that says HI SB GALS!!! Let us know what you find SB friendly at the pizza place! Thanks for posting the tip, I like it, but find I'm too lazy to even take those steps. I have seen the Smart Balance, but never really LOOKED at it. I rarely use butter, once in a blue moon. Thanks for the heads up on that!

NANCE, Michael loved CTHD, I don't think I would like it though he keeps wanting me to see it.

STAR, here's hoping all goes well at the Dr.'s tomorrow. Please keep us informed of what he says, and how you are feeling too.

UFGIRL, sounds like you had a nice time with your sister. I'm sure as much as you can't wait to get home, your entire family is looking forward to your return. And it sounds like they will definintely get you motivated to exercise, so that's another plus about getting back home. GOOD LUCK WITH THE FINALS!!!!:)

RALYNNE, you do sound busy, busy-I got tired just reading your post! Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, it was nice to learn more about you :) Do let the gals know you posted it, should they not read this message!

FILLISE, the muffin recipe sounds interesting, can't wait to see it on the recipe board. It's good that you have learned from your experiences and now know how important it is to plan ahead. Where we went for lunch today, a salad buffet, I don't like their dressings, have no idea what's in them, so I planned ahead and took my own in one of those tiny Tupperware containers-good tip!

VIV, glad to see your post, though not happy to see you are stressing over some things. Try to focus on yourself first, without your wellbeing, what good can you do others? AND, you can't be everything to everyone, just remember that:) And through all this, congrats on keeping the weight down!

GLORY, so glad to see you posting:) Don't worry about the size of your fonts when you type, when you post it on the board, it all comes out the same as everyone elses! You'll hit the 100lb mark, and soon, I know it-it's probably just your body fluctuating, or as I come to think of it, playing a mind game with me. Glad to see you are at TOPS, you can never have too much support:) They should be inspired by what you've accomplished! And it's great to hear you've stayed OP all this time too-that's wonderful!!!!

Okay, Eli is calling me to get ready (UGH)-so I have to run - again, another reminder that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY I hope the scale are kind to us all this week!!!

Confession time!!!!! - I really do read the labels and do not use anything w/ oses, sugars, syrups etc. You all know the routine. Last night for supper I decided to make a stroganoff type of meal. I used bouillion to cook the onions and store bought meatballs. I added some thick sliced mushrooms, thickened it w/ WW flour. Stirred in sour cream. Cooked up WW noodles and presto supper is done. Had peas for veggie.

Sounds pretty good huh? Well, not quite! Those little meatballs had sugar in them and I knew it and did it anyway. I hadn't had a meatball since starting SB and in a rebellious mood, said "What the hey! Can't hurt this once!" We shall see! Anyone out there have the proverbial wet noodle?

So, of course, I've been very good today. All your talk of shakes and I couldn't get the idea out of my head, so I made one for lunch. Blueberry. Yummy.

NANCE - I have a terrible time w/ names and titles. Just watched one last week, Verticle something. About mountain climbing, searching for lost sister. I'm afraid of heights and some of the shots took my breath away!

UFgirl - Hope all the finals will be over soon! They will be just a fond memory. Great that you had a good visit w/ your sister. You'll soon be home and be able to put your feet up and relax.

MELF - It sounds like you all had a wonderful time! But the best picture of all was the last one of little Mr. Personality!

STAR - LSU!!! RAH! RAH! We who live in LA must stick together. I'm a transplant from PA so always went for Penn State but have to root for the home team and home is now here. Hope all goes well.

Take care, sef

QUILTER--Re the chicken breast, type in “chicken, roasted, breast” and you will see a list. I usually click on boneless, without skin, and it comes up just fine. Let me know if you can find it. I do not think they have any place for a vitamin pill. You can go to diet goals and type in the amount of calcium, magnesium, niacin, etc. that you want, and do it that way, I guess. Also, SolShine's suggestion would probably work just fine.

MELF--the pix turned out great! You’re a whiz at posting them. Such a computer genius. I think I need a scanner. I’m glad you had a good trip. your grandson is a precious doll.

STARCHASER--Glad you are getting back to normal. Yep, I’ve heard of L--S--U. Been to Red Stick a few times, too. We will be there this year to watch the mighty Gators do their thing. We plan to stay in New Orleans for a couple of days and then take a Gator bus up for the game. Do you go to the games? If you do, maybe we could meet somewhere at the stadium. We’ve never seen the campus because it seems that the stadium is on the far edge of the less populated part of the campus. All the busses park there, and we’ve never had time to wander around to check out LSU.

DEBELLI--10K is 6.2 miles. A marathon is 26+ miles.

FILLISE--Yep, we are coming to Auburn! In fact, we already have our reservations at Calloway Gardens, where we stay in one of the cabins with another couple we travel with to that game. Then, we drive over on game day, park somewhere, munch, watch the Gators win, and drive back to Calloway!! It’s a great trip and I’m sorry to say that the SEC took that game away as a regular yearly match-up between our two teams. Now we just have LSU as our western division match-up, instead of both them and Auburn. How is your team supposed to be this year? Auburn is really a pretty campus. We usually end up parking in Timbuktu, because the parking situation up there is a bear. But have enjoyed exploring the campus. Have to visit the town this year, I guess. That is, the cute downtown, not the big box store part of town.

STARCHASER again--It’s a moot question. Answer--the Gator’s, of course.

SEF--The Gators played Penn St. two or 3 years ago here in Orlando. It was a good game. and Joe Pa is a class act.

Well, I got a nice long soak in the tub last night, WITH Bubble bath. I went out and practiced putting. CATLOVER, I actually practiced! It is not as fun as practicing tennis. You have to wait too long before shots. I could have hit 10X as many tennis balls as golf balls in the same time. All the lining up, positioning feet, etc. I have to get used to the slower pace. But I hope to persevere for a while. Maybe I will begin to like it more. I tend to roll the putts to the right of the cup. Maybe my eyes are crooked. Anyway, it was hot as blue blazes and I was a mess. So the soak felt good. I was going to practice again today, but there was that afternoon electrical storm. I’ll try to get out tomorrow morning before my hair appt. I know that I have to practice if I’m gonna take lessons.

Have fun at chat everyone. I’m probably gonna go to bed early.

Hey guys. Want to try to be brief, but will do my best to be back for chat tonight.

I am sore from running yesterday and Sunday, but it is a good feeling and will attempt 2.5 tomorrow a.m.

Is anyone familiar with "Fruit Leather?" I found some at Kroger in Atlanta. It is 100% fruit and is "might tasty!"

DEB - a 10k is 6.2 miles, thanks to our European friends for the metrics. A marathon is 26.2 or a 10-K plus 20 miles! A half marathon is 13.1 miles. I'm not great at history, but I beleive the distance has to do with the distance that Phidippides (sp?) ran back in the days of ancient Greece before he collapsed. Let's hope I don't collapse! Hope you had a nice time at the Bacardi "Thang."

VIV - I completely understand what you mean about taking on other's problems. My DH always gets concerned when I start talking about someone else's problems. He will always warn me not to "take them on myself." I call all that "stuff" I lug around; worries about things I have no control over, my "emotional backpack." And sometimes I have to unload and/or completely take off my backpack because it just weighs me down. I hope that you will be able to find resolution that works for you.

MELF - Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics. You all look so lovely and sugar-free! :)

SOL - You make me laugh going to the "SMACKDOWN!" The pictures were great!

NANCE - I'm gonna do all that I can to get my money tucked away for this trip. It would help to know what it is gonna cost, but I will assume a lot and will begin saving! I just have the feeling that the WDW trip is gonna rule out. But I promise to let you all know if I should find out that I won't be there.

GLORY - Welcome back! You have done so great on SB. Congrats on reaching such a great milestone!.

BOB andSTAR - You two are some SEC loin' chicks. So nice to be among women who also enjoy college football! I love that time of year!

RALY and UFGIRL - Keep up the good work! Nice having you two here!

FILLISE - Is the muffin recipe you mentioned the same one you talked about at lunch that day? Nice to see you back on the board after your vacation.

SEF - the dinner you described sounded great. I love that you confessed your meatball transgressions on the Internet. I enjoy your posts. You are a funny lady!

GATOR - When you are at Callaway Gardens you are in my old stomping grounds. I love that place, even though I have been many, many times, I always enjoy going back. I am originally from Columbus, which you may go through on your way to CG, depending on the course you take. Small world.

QUILTER - I know I wanted to post you a message but now I am stumped. I hope you are having a better week and that work is OK too. Hope to see you at chat tonight.

Hope to catch you all tonight!

Peace,

Frog

Good Evening!

I can't believe I got home in time to do "THE CHAT" Whoppeeee!!:D with time to spare for a post!

I've done pretty good the last couple of days staying on track. Sure is hard when you get off plan. I was thinking about sugar all day today, but managed to resist fresh baked cookies that one of our patients brought into the office, and the chips and homemade cheese dip that a co-worker brought it.

SEF
I probably wouldn't be able to watch that movie "Vertical Limits" I am afraid of heights and would be diggin' my nails (what there is of them) into Dan the Man's arm. I can do rollercoaster just fine, but those drop rides, etc. are out!!!!!

MELF
That was me this morning that was trying to instant message you when you said "Who are you looking for?" I must have had your wrong e.mail address on my list, because when I looked on my list I couldn't find a name to match, but Debbie helped me figure it out. Next time you get an "Instant Message" from Nofingfane, you can be fear-free to say "HI"! :)

Frog
WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU MIGHT BE IN WDW?????? BOB and I were booking kings so we could all fit cozy! Where are your priorities? It's Vegas or BUST!!!!

Debs
How was your cocktail party? Do tell, curuios minds want to know!

Tiggerme
WHERE ARE YOU??? I haven't seen you post for a while.

Gatorgal
Loved the purse. You're doin' BOB proud. Hope you bring it to Vegas! I am without a team to support....maybe I should become a fan so I can get in the loop. I hate the Raiders, they're icky! and their fans are worse! I supported the Lakers because I can't stand Iverson.

Rhroo
How did your plans go over the weekend. What did you finally wear????? What did you husband say?????

Solshine
You have such a beautiful smile. No wonder the Vincemeister is crazy about you! Glad we got to see pictures, makes the connection to everyone all the better.

Quilter
Long time no talk....What's the skinny? Did you find that english book about tea I was telling you about?

Well, I'm going to use the facilites:o before this MONSTER chat gets started. See everyone soon!

Happy, happy WIW, Everybody!!!

Well, I officially weighed in this morning at 170. My records show that my lowest WIW report was 171, so I’ll take a one pound loss for the week. Actually, it’s been a four pound loss since Friday, but I know I can’t count those re-acquired pounds. It’s truly amazing what a little accountability and awareness will do!!!! Thanks to all for your wonderful support and encouragement. I feel like I’m headed in the right direction. Good luck to everyone today.

Sorry I left to abruptly on the chat last night. I knew something was going to happen, because I got a message box that said I was running out of memory. Anyways, it was great seeing so many people in the room. We were really yakking it up big time. What fun!!!!

It’s early. 5:15. Ugh!!!! Woke up early and couldn’t fall back asleep (hope that’s not menopause around the big corner!), so I decided to get up and get this posted. Tonight I’m going to go to a pajama party with some friends, so I won’t be on the board at all. I’m going straight there from yoga so it’s going to be a busy evening. Getting up this early means I’ll probably be the first to fall asleep!!! Party Pooper!!! BTW, I've already decided to take my own breakfast and treats for tonight!!! I know she's having a yummy salad for supper. And she promised to make the dressing with sweetener and not sugar. So that won't be a problem!!! And I'm only going to eat stuff that is legal and has a label so that I can record it into Fitday. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

MELF---The pictures you posted are GREAT!!! Thanks so much for sharing them. You are right . . . SOL’s smile is so sweet. Looks like you all had a good time together. And DAXTON is such a cutie pie!!!! You and he have a fantastic relationship . . . every kid should have a granny who cherishes him/her. Right????

SOL---You are so smart . . . I hadn’t even thought about making my vitamin a custom food. Good going!!! I agree with you about keying in all my own food info. Yes, it takes longer, but once it’s in there, you don’t have to worry about doing it again. And then you know for sure that you are EXACTLY right in the numbers. I LOVE the reports too. The other night I saw I was a bit low on the calcium . . . hmmmm, think I’ll got have a glass of milk. That’s soooo cool!!!

DEB---Thanks for the tips . . . both good. I have to say, those cookies sound interesting. Haven’t had any of the spelt stuff yet, so don’t know what to expect. But I think I’ll pass on buying cookies for a while. Now that I’m working on portion controls, I’d better keep away from the things I’m weakest with. Cookies, chocolates. Kind of like how I nose-dived into those bags of sweet potato chips. Ugh!!! Not a good memory!

VIV---Hey!!! Hang in there, cutie!!! Better times surely must be around the corner!!! I’m sending good thoughts your way right this minute . . . can you feel the vibes?????

GLORY---It’s great to hear from you!!!! So glad to see your post and SOOOOOO excited for you that you are so close to a huge milestone!!! What an accomplishment. You make me want to be a 100% girl. Good luck today!!! Maybe it’s just taking 24 hours for all that sweat to leave your body!!! LOL.

SEF---You are so good to make “the confession.” You’re right that it sounds harmless for “just this once”, but that kind of thinking for me always leads to the path of destruction. At least for me it does. How much sugar was in it? We’re allowed 3 or under, right????? It was probably from the breadcrumbs, don’t you think???? Anyways, I admire you getting on here and coming clean about it. I know what you mean abou the shakes. I don’t have a blender or an ice crusher so I got out my little old food processor that’s a good 15 years old. Put some ice in it and broke the stupid thing. Can you believe that????? Oh well, it was time for that thing to hit the curb anyways, I wasn’t really happy with it. Any advice on what to buy to crush ice????? Besides a refrigerator, we already have a really good one and I’m not buying a new one just for the occasional shake!!! LOL

SOL, DEB, and GATOR---Thanks for your advice on the FitDay questions. I think the thing that threw me was that no where did it mention a “grilled” cb. And I think that’s how most of us eat them. I’ll try what you said and it will be great!!!!! GATOR---I haven’t done the nutrition goals yet, because I don’t know what exactly to put in there. I’m still learning, but loving it!!!!

Sorry if I missed anybody! I’ve got one eye open. Why is it if I laid back down I’d be wide awake but sitting here is making me sleepy. Hmmmm, guess I’m not as riveting as I thought. LOL

Well, that’s about it from here. Now it’s time to hit the shower and greet the day!!!! Hope you all have really super wonderful things happening around you today. Take care, my friends.

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Thanks to all who came to the chat last night-what a great showing and boy, did you all keep my fingers tapping away at those keys!!!!

Well, it's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY and I hope it's a good WIW for everyone. Don't forget, after you post your WIW results on here to share with everyone, you can also post them in the WEEKLY WEIGH IN BOARD. Just click on the link below:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=6532

I stayed the same as last week, which is just fine with me. If I lose, it's great, but maintaining the weight is really what's important to me now:) I have a EOM goal of 128, would be nice to see-haven't seen that weight in 6 years, and that's the lowest I have ever been that I can remember, if I was ever lower than that, I can tell you it was sometime in Jr. High (maybe)-another life time ago! I think, as growing up, I skipped right over blocks of numbers!

I'm going to get ready for my walk before it gets too late. I was going to take today off, but decided to go out anyhow-and before it gets too hot. Wanted to get in a post before I go-I know my priorities!!!!;)

LAMAP, I have had SD pretzels a couple times, but the ones I buy have no barley malt in them. I guess they are okay, but I would make sure 1 serving and only once in a blue moon-if you see a reaction, just cut them out. VITASPELT has some made with spelt and absolutely NO sweeteners that are good, but again, I may have 4 mini-twists a week (16 is a serving).

SEF, as someone else mentioned, as long as the meatballs don't have more than 3grams of sugar per serving, it's okay. Where does the sugar fall in the ingredients? Can't be all that much in there, they're meatballs, not sugar balls! BUT of course, it's always better to make your own (coming from someone who hates to cook, easier to say than do!). How much in the way of berries did you make your shake with??

FROG, did you get in yor 2.5miles this morning?? I'm sure you won't collapse doing your marathon-but I would be a different story! I don't know how people can run long distances-the most I can do is 3/10 of a mile, but usually only 1/10-1/5 is what I can do before I have to go back to walking. What a sight I must be for those drivers!

NANCE, I forgot, how can you even THINK about going off plan when you have patients looking at how you are doing. And as for the patients who bring in cookies, why not put your art skills into good use and make a really pretty sign that says NO GOODIES FOR ME, I WANT TO BE A SIZE 3!!!! Okay, it's the only size that would rhyme! I know you are back on track now-just had thought about that when you mentioned the patients and the cookies yesterday.

RHROO, here's hoping the scale is kind to you today, that's if you get on there-I'm rooting for you to get to goal girl!!!!

QUILTER, well congrats on being back down and getting a solid pound off of you-1 more to get to the 160's, I KNOW you will do it! See what you can accomplish with just a small change in attitude! ?! Glad fitday is helping. I too put in my vitamins on fitday, my problem is remembering to take them!

Okay, I'm outta here for now. Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow!

I'll check in with you all later today!

Good morning all!!:) Had some friends come over last night and ruined my routine for the evening. Still worked out though, just didn't get my walk in last night. I never seem to remember the chats online. By that time I'm ready for bed, due to the little one not sleeping well.

Debelli- Sometimes I think I'm too busy and get too stressed out with everything. I wish I didn't work it would make life much easier, but haven't a choice at the moment. Doing to much to the house and the yard. Can I just insert a picture into the bio?

has anyone ever heard of a raspberry garlic oil? I found it at a home show and it is great with fish, chicken, and rice. I looked at the ingredients and it's all natural with no added sugar. There is a website to order, so I'll have to get it off the bottle. You wouldn't believe how good it makes your food taste especially your rice. It's made in Michigan by a family in upper michigan.

Well should get back to work.

WHOO HOOO!!! DOWN 1.5 LBS!!! (I think that's from last week unless I forgot to update my profile last week. ) I've been weighing every day since using Fitday and going down in .5 lb increments. FINALLY the scale is starting to move!! Now 2.5 lbs. to break 200. I really think upping my calories is they key. With all my weight-lifting and walking I think my body was fighting to hold onto everything it could since there wasn't much coming in. I'm still not up calorie-wise where I want to be, but I'm getting there and figuring out what I can eat that will keep my fat/carb/protein pie chart in balance on Fitday.

I'm glad to have been able to see first hand what it's like to be at a live WWF show, but equally glad we didn't have to pay for it. They alternate nobody wrestlers with the big names and there's no announcing really. When the commercials are playing on TV there's absolutely nothing going on in the arena - it's totally quiet and the people exit en-masse to the bathroom/concessions. I'm surprised they don't do something to entertain the spectators in between matches and keep the energy up. Thankfully we had binoculars. QUILTER - we got in LOTS of people watching!! I was amazed at the variety of demographics represented at the event. There was LOTS of silicone there wrapped up in scanty little packages and painted on leather!!! There were "hip" single 20-ish girls there in groups of 2 or 3, tons of pre-teen boys, rednecks, white collar preppy guys who probably didn't tell ANYONE at the office that they were going to a WWF show, lots of middle aged women - some with kids/some not, youngsters with the purple hair/pierced body parts and baggy pants, gang members and us. (I haven't figured out where we fit in. :D ) Vince was showing me how to recognize gang members and pointing out some of the guys and which gang they were in. A pretty equal mix of races which was surprising to me. I thought most WWF fans were white for some reason. The Rock and Chyna weren't there. They were the 2 I really wanted to see. Oh, well. It wasn't a waste of time, just not what we expected. I"m paying for it dearly today - not to bed until midnight and up again at 5am. My body needs more sleep than that!

Tonight we're going to eat at Carraba's Italian Restaurant for Meister's B'day. Any suggestions on what I should get? I won't have any problem reaching my calorie goal for the day, but I want it to be the best calories. :)

Someone asked about Spelt. I really like Spelt. I've made my own spelt bread before and it's absolutely yummy (and easy to make). The quality of the different commercial kinds varies greatly, though. There's one brand that's absolutely disgusting, but I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.

DEBBIE - I want extreme results so that calls for extreme measures, right? I don't mean going ballistic or anything, but being extra strict with my foods. If I stay on the lower end of the GI then I'll see better results with my c-peptides and my weight. That's where I want to be, so thanks for sharing your "sorta neurotic" techniques. ;) I'll certainly make a sign for the next thing we do that is televised. I think there were so many signs last night we would have been lost in the crowd. I think every other seat had a person holding a sign last night.

 to everyone else! Sorry I didn't get to everyone today, but I'm looking forward to reading about all you LOSERS later today!! :D Expecting good news from everyone!!!

I'm back from my walk-and sweating bullets! I ended up doing my full 4.5 miles, with 17 jogs. I thought it was nice and overcast out there, turned out that it started to sprinkle for a while then stopped, and 5 minutes after I got in, it started to storm-at least it waited to drop the big stuff down until I got in. We so desperately need this rain, I think everyone will welcome it-we've had really big brush fires burning out of control. The other day when I went to walk, it was smokey outside-so hopefully, this will wipe them out.

Going to see what the kids want to do today, probably the mall. Lauren needs a few things for the cruise and also for camp. NOT a task I like to do, but who else will do it but MOM!

RALYNNE, trust me, I don't work and sometimes that gets old. I've had my own businesses and like to work for myself. I am tinkering whether to start another business or try to find something in the real world, which won't be easy-I work better for myself, I like to be the boss. The rasp. garlic oil sounds yummy, please do post the info on the board!

SOL, CONGRATS!!!! You are doing fine. Don't worry about the scale right now, you may even see a gain from upping your calories as your body needs time to adjust itself, but I think you are right, your body probably was holding on to all it could. You'll be fine, your mind seems to be set now! Glad you had a good time at the WWF. Tonight at dinner, scan the menu and see what you could possibly find SB legal-don't be afraid to ask if they can prepare something to help you out, in fact, you could even call them ahead of time to see what they say they may have, so you can plan better. If things are over pasta, ask if you can sub the pasta for a plain steamed veggie, or extra salad. The only thing I ever have is eggplant parm and I ask them to make the eggplant with out breading and to grill it, since they make it fresh, they do it with no problem, then it's just the sauce and cheese-unfortunately, that place closed now:( Have a good time!!!

Okay, time to go get something to eat, though first, going to make a coconut milkshake:spin:

Will check in with you all later!

Have a great day!

Just a quick message to let you know that I'm thinking of all of you. I spoke with Nancy yesterday, but for the most part between my health still acting up, trouble getting on line or even getting enough time to sit down at the computer, and did I mention I do Teacher's Payroll and we are in Fiscal Year end...yikes! Looking forward to the 2nd week in July, things may slow down just a bit. I meet with my MD on Wednesday to discuss my ups and downs in health and ideas on a good vitamin supplement after we do some blood work. I may just have to learn to live with the symptoms I'm having and learn to stop complaining about it. Additionally, I still have the oral stuff to contend with. I keep having to remember that there are a lot of people much worse off than I. If anyone has any suggestions of books on better attitudes or motivations please email me with ideas (ldblond@hotmail.com). I think a good book would help out me back into perspective. Maybe Nance we could go to the Library together sometime? My little girls are away at the beach with Grandma and Grandpa, so that leaves us with little Michael. He's getting spoiled, but is loving it.

I hope to read the posts I've missed, although I may not get any more time on the computer until Sunday  . (I do get to check my email more frequently if anyone has time to drop me a line). I'm down to 155.5, but I really don't know how accurate my scale is these days, yesterday it said I was 154. I hope for all of you there are losers and for those that don't lose weight, remember that we are all winners, as we have chosen a healthier way of life.

HUGS!

Good Morning!

Real quick cause I'm running late. Went to the grocery store to stock up on healthy food!!! LARA do you hear me???? I bought healthy snacks to bring to work and a WATER BOTTLE!!!

Debs
Can you write down the ingredients for your drinks? I'm getting hooked. The first time I used 1cup milk, 1cup ice, vanilla, and sweetner. 2nd time 1 cup ice, 1/2 cup milk and the rest the same.
Came out more like a shake. Where did you find the flavorings? Are they by McCormick's spices? I couldn't find coffee, but I saw other flavorings.

Solshine
Tell the VINCEMEISTER that the NANCEMEISTER said "Happy Birthday". If i were you I would order a chicken ceasar salad and a glass of red wine. Everything else will be illegal! You know they don't use WW noodles at those joints! Have fun!

Gotta go. Will write EVERYONE later. BOB You've been missing in action the last few days...where are you???? You haven't chummed up with those WW girls over us have you???

Hey everyone!

Still holding steady--am hoping to start downwards again soon. Since I lose in spurts--I expect these little platueus. In fact I'm pretty darn grateful that I didn't gain anything while I was on vacationso I'm happy!

Congrats to all the losers! Sol--you'll get below that 200mark soon. That's going to be a big one for me too, but it will be a while before I get there so I'd sure like to celebrate yours!

I took a salad with me to VBS last night so everything was ok. Tonight they are actually having food that I can eat!

Two more nights--it's fun, but these kids are wearing me out!

Saw the Dr today and I can't put off the knee surgery any longer. We will do it either the 3rd or the 10th of July. I have to call this afternoon to schedule. Anyway it will nice to be able to get back on the treadmill, I don't like the bike so much.

Star--is the LSU/Auburn game at your place or mine this year? I don't think ya'll are going to be in Atlanta--but just as long as it isn't Bama!

Renee--happy belated birthday. I saw that you celebrated while we were in NY. I got the pictures back and will try to scan it in the next few days so everyone can see the gorgeous sexy NC girls!

Got to go! Talk to you soon.

I am down 1.5lbs which puts me at 121.5........WOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! All the positive talk you gals gave me last night must have helped:lol: Good luck to all of you gals with your WIW. I need to go read the posts and get caught up on the recent news.

Everyone have a good day. The weather here is wishy-washy. One moment it looks as if it could STORM, then the next it looks like it's clearing up. So, I am hanging around the house, doing the domestic stuff like laundry - ICK. Besides, I am getting hungry, and I need to go find something yum to eat.

Just a quick hello to all of you gals! Sure did enjoy the chat last night. I sure have missed being an active part of this board for the last 3 weeks or so. Quickly scanned the board, but haven't had a chance to really read, so I can't respond to anyone right now. Hoping to get a chance to do that later today.

My Mom had a dr's appt this am, then we went grocery shopping at Albertson's. Found a few things I had heard Debbie talk of, like the SPLET FLOUR. It has a recipe for muffins on the bag, so I think I will give it a try. But right now, I need to bring Mom back to the nursing home.

Nancemeister, spoke to my sister today & she said yes, that she had received an AIM message from someone yesterday, so you had my screen name correct. I have now added back my group of SB names on mine, so it's up & running again.

Oh, BTW, WIW!!! I'm still at 149, so that is a 2 lb loss from my last report which was right before we left for vacation, so I'm excited. That means 9 more lbs till goal!! ok, see ya'll on the board later!!

Well, scale stayed the same but clothes are definitely looser. I never mesured myself. Bad enough to have to step on the scale and face that number, wasn't ready to face tape numbers too.

Went to the NH this morning. I guess my fame is spreading, more are coming to the group and they are more talkative. Which is wonderful, there is more interaction among them too.

STAR - Today was the day for your doctor. I hope you had a normal count on the blood.

Rosalie - It sounded so nice, a cafe at Convent Gardens. So very, very English and proper. Sounds like you are having a good time.

ralynne - You were really busy. When we added to our house we had a 16' x 32' patio. While dh was at work (he had home a week, away a week job) I started laying the broken slate which we quarried out ourselves from an abandoned quarry. ( Letting the rattlesnakes keep the pieces they wanted!). When dh came
home I had it half done. He said I had too many small pieces, (I envisioned justifiable homicide!). So the next week I took all my all my hard work up and started over again. Thirty five years later it is still there so I did a good job! The week he was home we did the roof of the addition; no way was I getting up there by myself! There's something about swinging your leg into empty space to find a ladder rung. It would take me a half hour before I could manage it. DH thought it was hilarious, I the meantime I was getting air sick! (That homicide thing again!)

Solshine - I do the same thing, I don't go to work but do the cooking. As long as you're chopping and slicing for one salad, I feel you might as well do it for a lot of salads, after all you have the mess out. I put the cukes, tomatoes, etc all in separate plastic containers, then I can create whatever I want. Great minds, you know. I feel it saves work in the long run. I'm soooo lazy!!

Fillise - You're to be admired for using restraint and make the best of a bad situation. You could have said "Oh, Well" and grabbed everything in sight. I, too, have to eat meals or I inhale the first thing that I can reach! By the way, to me it seems that everything in N.O. and environs is either purple, gold or green!!! So a purple cow is very normal here! Beats pink elephants!

GloryBI - You are an inspiration for me. I want to lose 100# and it seems insurmountable. And you are almost there. I have lost 34# since Feb; but still a long way to go.

lamap - Never heard of sourdough pretzels. What's the brand? I'd rather have a pretzel over a potato chip any day!

Nance - Rollercoaster!?! No way. That has height and you go down from that height. It's not the speed (I have a lead foot!) it's the falling sensation!

Quilter - How fun that sounds, a PJ party! It's nice your hostess is thoughtful of your needs. And you are too, by taking your own goodie bag. Before we got the new fridge w/ the ice maker, I had a Rival ice crusher, wasn't too expensive. I would crush a containerful and keep it in the freezer, then I just scooped out what I needed. My Hamilton Beach blender is a skillion years old, it really needs replacing as it is getting hardeer to fit the container to the base. I think the little rachet thingies are getting worn.

Deb - I'll have to reread the label. I know there was sugar and for that reason have avoided them. I think it was the fourth or fifth ingredient before all the unprnoucebale words! I used a 1/2 c. of berries, dash of salt, little vanilla and a couple of sweetners in shake.

Well, have to stop lollygagging here and get busy with other things. HooRay for all the losers. Gives yourselves a pat on the back............now use the other arm.....congrats you just did some exercise!

Hey Everyone!

I'm home from shopping and I'm pooped. Does anyone get so taxed that they are so exhausted that they want to crawl into bed after shopping with their teenagers? Well, we finally found 2 bathing suits for Lauren and a top, so at least the worse (I hope) part is out of the way, now it's on to shorts for her.

Just wanted to share something with you all-when I looked in the mirror today, I actually saw a slight difference in my face, that it looked a wee bit more defined-I'm very critical of myself, so for me, this is a good sign. BUT, last night, when we went to get the kids from my parents house, my Mother says to me "your sister thinks you look emaciated!" LOL! Yeah, right Mom, and she looks like the Queen of England! Of course, when I told Eli that, he had to chime in and say, "you're all skin and bones", "there's nothing left of you", but he didn't agree with me looking emaciated, said I look healthy. Anyone care to help me time him to the bed when we are in Vegas so he can't go gamble-that will be the best revenge, true torture for the old guy!!! I guess I really need to get a recent pic done and post it on the board so you can all tell me what you really think, at least I know I will get an unbiased and honest answer from you all!!!:)

LDBLOND, sorry to hear things are so hectic for you, I hope they all slow down. I do hope your Dr. can give you some good news on your health and help you to where you are feeling back to normal. I would say, hit the library for some books, and take Nance with you-when you see her, give her a hug for me, and she to you!!!! I loved your quote "I hope for all of you there are losers and for those that don't lose weight, remember that we are all winners, as we have chosen a healthier way of life." How true!! Does the 155.5 today give you a loss for the week?

NANCE, I just use 1 cup of milk, about a cup of crushed ice, 1 tsp of extract and 1 packet of Stevia, that's it. Throw it in the blender and put it on WHIP. It's a bit thick, so if you want it thinner, just blend until the ice is almost gone, mine it a bit "sandy" with the ice the way I make it. I use FRONTIER brand extracts, as they have no alcohol in them, more natural, but I may be buying some regular ones that do have the usual alcohol to try and get some funky flavors. You can probably make your own coffee extract by brewing some really potent coffee, Eli says use half the amount of water you usually would.

FILLISE, congrats on staying the same, I find that just as much of an accomplishment at times as losing is. It's good that you are in tune with your body and know how it reacts now, I too have learned somewhat how my body may behave since being on SB. As I try to always say, patience does pay off, and I'm sure it will for you!!! Please keep us informed about the pending surgery!!!

AMSER, you tiny little thing! You're just dropping those pounds, aren't you! Congrats-not much more to go!!!

MELF, CONGRATS-2lbs is great, esp after coming home from a vacation!!! You're coming down to the wire now!!! Wow, your Alberston's must be good there, ours doesn't carry the spelt flour.

SEF, just knowing you are feeling better and the clothes are fitting loser is good enough, you don't need the scale-wish I could say the same thing to myself! Will try the bb shake, maybe tonight or tomorrow morning, have some in the house I can use. Again, don't worry about the meatballs, one small thing isn't going to hurt you, it's when you get too comfortable and start doing little cheats every day that will do you in in time.

Okay, I'm outta here for the evening. Eli's due home in a while, he's making his eggplant and meat dish-it's soo good, my mouth is watering. Going to go tidy the kitchen so he has some workspace. May get on later, but if not, tomorrow morning sometime!

Toodles!

Evening Everyone!

I am so depressed. I weighed this morning and have gained 7 pounds. That is awful. I have been losing so good and now this. I'm not even going to get on the scale for a while. It's too depressing when you are op.

Congratulations to all of you losers. Keep it up.

Well I can finally get in a quick post. I had alot of fun last night in chat. Well after all that talk about junk food I broke down and had a half of a patty melt on whole wheat last night and ate about 6 of Darren's fries. Oh well, I still dont think I hit my calories for the day but they were bad calories. The scale was still down this morning 2 lbs but I am sure it will go up after that fat feast last night. The  made me do it :s:

Congrats to all you losers :D and for those of you that stayed the same of maybe even went up a bit "Dont Worry Be Happy" it will come off

Now back to work!!!!!!!!!

Hello Friends,

What a wonderful day this has been. Had a good report form the doctor. My blood seems to be back to nearly normal. Took me off most all the medication. Never did know for 100 % sure what happened, other than "something probably bite me. But the really BIG news is..........

I CROSSED OVER THE 300 THRESHOLD...DOWNWARD!!!!

I weighed in at 298.5!!!!! That's a total loss of 26.5 lbs.

I didn't know how the weight would go the past severval weeks, being sick and all. But I pleased. Could have been more, but hey, I can't exercise right now, so I'm pleased with 298.5!!!

Don't have anyone to do the Happy Dance with anymore....that was Bogie's job!!!! That dog loved Otis Redding.

Thanks again to everyone who remembered me. Hopefully things will settle down now.

FILLISE: Auburn will visit the Bayou on September 15.
Mike (our mascot) and I will be waiting!!!!

Hope there were many losers this week. As for me, the TOM and the big 4 pound lost from last week have served as the "equalizers." This seems to be a trend with me as of late. Hopefully the exercise will help me see a losing trend. I was up 2 to 150 but no complaints as I didn't have to move the big weight back up a notch. Whew!

Chatting last nigth was great fun, always is. Sorry there are some that can't join us at that time.

Does anyone else notice that when they initially began exercising that their weight didn't change or that they gained? This is the third time that I have started exercising and have seen an increase in my weight immediately following? Perhaps it is an increase in my hunger as a result of the calories/fuel burned, and I am eating slightly more at meals. Perhaps it is also a strange coincidence.

DEB - I did get up this a.m. and did 1.5 miles before work. Got up a little late to go any longer. Will run again at least one more time this week. I am serious about you reaching into that closet of yours and getting rid of those clothes that no longer fit. You need to get something to show off your pretty new shape. Dr. Phil says that you should get rid of those things (too big) as the are too easy to slip back into when/if you ever start to gain a little back. Essentially it is a license to be comfortable as you regain because you have "fall back" clothes. Not only that, you deserve some new things. You've worked hard to reach your goal. So hit the mall!

STAR - Way to go. You hit a mahor milestone today. You should be quite proud of yourself. I am happy for you!

Congrats to those of you who are at or very near your goal, like
MELF and AMSER!

Gotta run for now. Hope you all have a great evening and a happy Thursday!

Peace,

FROG

Hey All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post before hitting the hay last night, but computer trouble crept in and stopped me, so here's what I had wanted to post last night!

Did anyone see John Edwards on Morrie yesterday? He's a psychic-boy was he good!!!!

FYI, I've been making my "shakes" in the blender and filling the blender with milk to the 1 cup line. Don't ask me why, but today, I measured 1 cup of milk in a regular 1 cup measuring cup, and it was below the 1 cup line by quite a bit. Then I took a glass measuring cup and poured it in there, thinking maybe the dry measuring cup was different, it was the same. Sooo, I then filled the blender to the 1 cup line and poured it into the glass measuring cup, it was 1 1/8th cup! I was always taught that when you liquid measure, you look at it level, but if you look at the blender container from above, it is one cup, but level, it's below-okay, so I had nothing better to do, I need to get a life! My point being, all this time, I've been having 1/8 cup more milk than I thought I was, not a great big deal, but I did think it was interesting that here I thought I was measuring correctly, and I wasn't.

CHERI, please, don't be depressed. I know exactly how you feel, do you remember that happened to me a few weeks ago? I was up 6lbs! I was 1lb from goal and found myself up, way up! One night I was up to 139 I think it was-but I didn't give in even though I too was so depressed, and the scale did come back down-you know you're OP 100%, so just be patient:)

CATLOVER, glad to see you checking in-hope next week shows a loss for you!! Let us know what's new with you.

TIGGER, congrats on the 2lbs! I'm sure those fries just levitated into your mouth:s: Some mysteries are never to be figured out. I do hope you get to eating enough, if not, you losses are going to slow or come to a stop-we want you to lose fat, not muscle:)

STAR, CONGRATULATIONS! What a wonderful milestone!!!! Honey, Bogie is doing a happy dance with you in heaven!!! I'm doing one for you down here on earth:) Great news about the doctor too!!!

FROG, I think that I did notice some changes when I began to put jogging into my walking. Even though I don't do it far at all, I know my calves and my legs must have gained some muscle, I can feel the burn at times, which is the times I stop and walk again, and the scales did stay up, but they go up and down in the same range. I'm not sure why-but eventually, they start coming down. I know what you mean about the too big clothes, and I have gotten rid of many of them. I have very few clothes as it is, and that one silk blouse I mentioned the other day is only a size 8, though it seems to run really big, I really like it and I didn't realize how big it was on me til the other night. Oh honey, I do plan on going to buy new clothes, but I'm waiting...I plan on hitting the mall in Edmonton Alberta hopefully in Sept to shop til I literally drop! I really want to go there and hope I'll be able to do so, things will get in the works soon to see if I can make it there! It's one of the things I want to do for my 40th!

Okay gals, I'm going to get ready to hit the pavement. It was lightening and thundering really bad in the middle of the night, thought it would be bad weather for walking this morning, but alas, it's sunny out there, so no excuses.

Reminder TODAY IS RECIPE DAY!!! Will be back on later to post a couple recipes. Any requests????

Sef- Remodeling is the biggest pain in the butt. We've done so much to this house since we moved in last August and it's been worth it because our value has increased by 30,000. We only bought this house to remodel & sell. It's not big enough for our family to live in. We have 3 kids together and 2 bedrooms witha walkout basement and on the lake, but not big enough. I would prefer a 4 bedroom out in the woods anyday. With our 1 year old I can't do much by myself unless she's napping. Were only 29yrs old, so we haven't found our permanent home yet, our next home will be though.

Quick Question- I can't find Agave Nectar, but there is a non sugar brand honey, but what is in the Agave Nectar. What is Maltose? that was in the ingredients.

Tasty rice -

Brown or wild rice
(1-3) chicken boullion(depending on how much your making)
water
garlic
onion or onion powder
Raspberry Garlic Oil (Optional)

Mix together then pop in microwave until done. Very scrumptious, my husband actually loves it that way.

Good Morning everyone :)

I just got back from my vacation yesterday evening. I had a wonderful time. It was great seeing all the relatives and seeing some of the sites of London and the rest of the country. I went up in the London Eye and had a trip down the river from Westminster to Greenwich. This was mainly to save fighting the rush hour traffic on the bus as some of my relatives live not far from Greenwich. Last Saturday we went out for dinner and most of the relatives were there. This was a very pleasant surprise as I was only expecting a few of them to be there.

I wasn't looking forward to getting on the scale this morning but knew it had to be done. I have gained 8 pounds but this was really no surprise - I checked my weight on my SIL's scales a couple of days after I arrived and had gained seven pounds by the following week. I really have to get back on the wagon. I know some of this weight is fluid as my feet and ankles are a bit swollen, but not 8 pounds worth! I won't be doing much walking for a while as I have a sore foot. I've had foot problems before but they have been fine for the last year or so. I had a bit of pain in one of them before I left for my holiday so I am not surprised it got worse with all the walking I have been doing lately. I went for a swim this morning. That seems to ease things up a little.

I haven't been able to read all the posts. I don't know if I will ever catch up on them all. I did skim through some of them last evening. I see that there are a few newbies here since I was last on board. Welcome to you all and I hope to get to know you all soon.

Debbie - CONGRATULATIONS ON REACHING GOAL - that must be a wonderful feeling. What are your plans for maintaining? Do you think you will add anything to your diet or just continue as you have been doing this past year?

I have to go and get some breakfast before starting some chores. I have a big pile of laundry waiting for me, some gardening that needs doing as well as cleaning.

Will check in again later.

Have a good day everyone.

LDBLOND - I think I'd go through withdrawal without my computer. I feel your pain! I imagine Nancemeister is an excellent source of motivation and giggles for you - surely she will be able to help you find some really good motivational material at the library. Let me put my thinking cap on and I'll e-mail you some ideas, too.

FILLISE - Thanks! Your 56 lbs. gone is an inspiration for me. VBS was one of my favorite times of the summer growing up. You're building memories for those kids, too! I remember laying on butcher paper, having the teacher outline my body and drawing my very own "coat of many colors" on myself. One of the crafts I remember some 20+ years later - isn't that a hoot?? What kind of knee surgery are you having done?

AMSERAPHIM - Congrats on the loss!! All that gardening is paying off!!

MELF - You'll be at goal very quickly with your determination and will power! Glad to have you back on the board, too!!

SEF - Congrats on those loose clothes. You don't need to measure if you've got those kinds of results! I have to measure so I can see me disappear 1/16" at a time.

DEBBIE - Glad you got the bathing suits out of the way! I know this is going to sound weird, but I don't like to shop for clothes at all. :dz: So, yes, I understand being exhausted after hitting the mall.

STAR - HAPPY DANCE TIME!!!!!!!!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!! Way to go!! Good news about your blood work and getting off medicines, too! That's just the bomb!!

Okay, Confession time -- we had a WONDERFUL time last night. We met at the gym when I got off work (how romantic! ) and lifted weights together. I had Vince help me with 2 machines and he stayed and counted for me while I did my reps - so that was fun. Then we freshened up and went to Carrabba's. It was happy hour (2 for 1's) and we ordered Sangrias thinking each one of us would have one - they brought 4 - and they were really good - and we each drank both of ours. We ordered the antipasta platter of brouchette (which I LOVE! made with all garden-fresh herbs), fried cheese and fried calamari. I had 1 piece of brouchette, 1 piece of fried cheese and several calamari. Vince wanted pizza and it was a 10" pizza so we decided to split it. It was a paper thin crust with sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, mushrooms, peppers and spinach - not much sauce at all. No dessert. I don't normally have a blow out like this and was really concerned about the amount of oil/fat that I probably took in so I took a tablespoon of psyllium when we got home and had oatmeal for breakfast hoping that will off-set some of the damage. I entered every bite into Fitday and, thanks to being conservative earlier in the day I came in at 2297 calories - high, but I was expecting it to be worse: (31% fat (76g), 39% carbs (251g), 24% protein (133g), Fiber 31g). I decided to not feel guilty about this, but I will certainly remember the tips y'all gave me for next time we go out to eat. There will always be "special occasions" and reasons we can justify going off plan so we just have to decide which is more important. We can "celebrate" without food and if the celebration includes food it doesn't have to be illegal foods. I chose and I'm ready to face the consequences.

Below is a happy dance for STAR!!

Hey All:wave:

Okay, I didn't go walking today-decided it was getting too late and thought I would take the day off. I feel a little guilty, though not a lot guilty.

Scale is up 1lb today, but I know it has to be from eating a very late and heavy dinner last night, so I'm not worried (yet).

Looking at my Weight Commander Program, it can tell me what I weighed 30/60/90 days ago in a glance. 30 days ago I was 130.5-60 days ago I was 131 and 90 days ago 133. I see where the weight loss has really slowed, but at least has pretty much stayed down.

RALYNNE, the agave nectar is hard to find depending on where you live. Forget the honey, any type, unless the amount called for in a recipe would break it down so that 1 serving doesn't exceed the
"3 grams of sugar rule". Agave is a natural sweetener that is one of the lowest "foods" on the GI. There's more information on it on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD.

ROSALIE, WELCOME HOME!!! So glad to know you are home safely and with wonderful memories to bring back with you. Sounds like you had a great time all around! I hope you brought back at least 1 picture you are going to post on the board-that has you in it! HINT, HINT!;) I'm sure you'll get those lbs off easily, once you get back into your regular eating. Thanks for the congrats! Yes, it definitely was wonderful to step on that scale and finally see the numbers I was hoping to see for soooo long. I'm continuing on just as I have been, that's just how I plan to maintain my loss. I want to get down another 5lbs to 124 and use those 5lbs as a cushion. Whenever I get there is fine, but would like it by my bday in Oct. I plan on keeping up with my walking, but may make it 5 days a week instead of 6, otherwise, I want to keep everything the same. I have thought about what I would like to try and add back into my diet that I haven't eaten for 15 months, but honestly, I'm going to wait until I get the other 5lbs off, and then, I don't really know what I would say I'd like to eat again, if anything it would probably be fruit, I really don't miss anything. Again, we're glad you are home!!!

SOL, glad to hear you and Vince had a good time last night. Sounds like you are back on track today. Usually, once in a blue moon dinner like that won't kill you, as long as you go right back OP, and if it does have an effect, you know it's just temporary and it can be turned right back around. I envy those who could do that, I know I am not one of them. Maybe one day, I too can find the stregth to be able to "let myself go" and then pull myself back to reality, but I know me all too well, and I know I'm not able to do that, at this time at least:)

Okay, going to make something to eat for breakfast, already had my raspberries this morning, now time for something a bit more solid.

Talk to you all later!

You were on my mind heavy yesterday....You sounded so down, I just wanted to reach out and give you a big HUG. There could be lots of reasons, hormones, body fluids, etc. It will pass.
Just don't pull a NANCY and go off plan, thinking bad food will comfort your frustration!!! Drink ALOT of water, I mean ALOT of water, and I bet by next WIW there will be a change for the better!

Starchaser
That is so AWESOME you are under 300lbs.!!!!!!! What a MAJOR accomplishment!!!!! I'm doing the happy dance for you!!! I know working in a doctors office what a major thrill it is, to have to BIG weights on the scale, get moved to a different level! That is so cool. You must be floating on the clouds!

Ralynne
Your rice sounds good! How much raspberry stuff do you put on it? A drizzle? I have a pen pal in Michigan. He lives in Allen Park. Nicest guy in the world. He talks about "going up to the lake", makes me jealous, since it was 114 degrees here yesterday!!!!
You have to buy the Agave nectar at a Health Food store. It's made from some type of cactus. It's the consistency of a thin honey, but taste more like an inbetween of honey and sugar, It's very good! Then you can bake some legal SB cookies!

Rosalie
Glad you had a great time on your vacation! I'm with Deb, we need pictures!!!! I'm sure you'll get back into your regular routine and be on track and OP in no time!

Hi sunshine!!!! Are you through with that nasty medicine yet????
I hope your feeling better! I would love to go to the library, as I go pratically EVERY weekend, but this weekend we are going CAMPING!!! Anything to get out of this heat! WOuld today be a good day to meet for lunch? I can drive over and we can hang out in your employee lounge! CALL ME!!!

I ALSO HATE shopping for clothes. My sister told me that when she lost weight and got down to like a size 8 she loved it then, because everytime she tried stuff on, it looked great. Maybe we'll have something to look forward to...I know everytime I go, I come home pratically in tears to Dan. Those evil 3 way mirrors, and everything looks horrible, or old lady. Why should there be any pleasure when those are the results! What is in a Sangrias? Wine and????? Your meal sounded wonderful, not like your average Italian restaurant! What the heck is Psyllium????? Sounded like make you have instant-dookie medicine!
Are you planning on coming to Vegas? What about Vincemeister?
Did you remember to tell him I said Happy Birthday from one SNL fan to another???

Debs
What size clothes are you in now Ms. Skinny Minnie???? I think you should throw out those big giant p.j.'s and head down to Victoria's Secret! I love your drink!!! I have been making it daily!
That way I get some milk (calcium) in. As far as special request for recipes can you figure out a legal Teriyaki sauce/marinade?
The one I make calls for honey, I bet I could just replace it with Agave nectar. Thanks for asking! Are you doing fitday.com as well as the other program?

SKEETER
Find your master, lick her face a whole bunch, then walk over to the computer and look at it with those big brown puppy eyes, and bark "Sugar Busters"...a four syllable bark, and maybe she'll
write to us!!!

nancemeister- it depends on how much flavor I desire on that day. I need to get the website for that oil. They make a huge amount of different kinds of cooking oils and it's even great on salads, fish, and chicken. Yes, Lake Michigan is nice when it's hot outside or you freeze your butt off in it. Actually he is only 1 hour away from me, I live in Stanton a little town North of Lansing.

Debelli- I wanted to get agave nector for recipes. Now that I know the gram usage that will help. What is funny is when i was in my size 9's before I got pregnant my husband always said how much thinner my face looked and I think it is because they are so use to us a little plumper that they just aren't use to it. I have basically always been that size and was when I met him too. I'm only 1 size bigger right now, but what a difference that makes. Being almost 5'7" it probably makes me look thinner and taller to him.

anyone else out there going to college and being a mom too? Like me i start back up this fall and will be done by next winter with my bachelors finally.

Hope everyone is doing okay and have a wonderful rest of the week.

Hello everyone!

I'm gearing up for the last night of VBS--whew! We are having a ball though.

Sol--thanks for your kind words. What makes this site work is that we all root for each other! I'm having arthroscopic (sp) surgery for torn cartelege in my knee. I've been dealing with this since March and it is finally time to get it fixed! It is outpatient surgery and I should be up and around almost immediatly.

Star--WOOOOHOOOO! I'm doing the happy dance with you! I'll be doing the happy dance alone on Sept 15th, however. :s:

What's up with BOB and Sparkle? Do you think they've run off together--they both seem to be AWOL this week! :?:

Talk to you later!

Was at the NH this morning. The Director is on vacation so I was on my own. There is no support from the nursing staff to get people to an activity so I was on my own. It was like old times.

Silly thing I've noticed..........my slacks are getting longer. Not so much belly hiking them up! Oh, the little things that thrill us!

DEB - Maybe there is a little sour grapes there with your sister! Maybe a little envy even if she is a skinny one. It's hard for people to imagine someone that in the past has not shown such determination and will power as you have had on this woe! Also right now you are getting a lot of attention because of it! It's not
that your sister wishes you ill, just wishes she could be like you.

Gee! Off by a whole 1/8 c. C'mom you're not mixing rocket fuel!!!!

Of course, I am growing out of my current clothes, but am growing into my clothes that have been hanging around forever. I am not, repeat, am not going to save my current clothes.

cheri - Cheer up! You lost it once and you'll lose it again. Who knows, maybe it was the way you stood on the scale, or didn't have a good BM, water retention, etc. Maybe you need to review your woe, a little too much carbs or something not quite right but not really wrong. I find it is so easy to sabotage myself without
even trying!

Tigger - Maybe we ought to curtail junk food talk in our chats. If we all run for the nearest junk we can find we're all in BIG (in more ways than one) trouble.

Star - So glad you had a good report from doctor. And congrats for the pounds off. I am glad to see someone who is about the same weight as I am. In January '00 I weighed 298 and by February '01 I was 290, not not much of a loss. That when I
went on SB. I have lost 34 and feel so much better. I read some of the posts from people who are 150 or so and I wonder why they are worried! Then I remember years ago I tried to talk to my ds about the weight she had gained. Smart aleck
looked me in the eye and said "Who are you to talk? Look at you!". I said "I am, that's why I'm trying to tell you it's not good". So, deep down I understand why those 150s are here........just a little envy on my part!!!!

I love all you gals, even if I have a leg that weighs as much as you do!!!!!!!!!!!!

ralynne - We moved into our house when we married. It needed work, and it seemed like we were always tearing out or putting in!!! We enclosed the breezeway to make a dining room and had to knock out a window in the kitchen to join the two. We knocked out a wall and moved the water heater to be able to
have a washer and dryer, and the list goes on. We worked on it through two pregancies. But it got done. In 1966 when we put on the addition and patio I was 29. So I remember how it was. Yeah, at times it was a pain the butt but we really enjoyed doing it. I lived in it for 36 years, not only did the value go up because
of the change the years brought in real estate, but also because of the work we did on it. Also saved money doing it ourselves. When we bought the house on a lot and a half, 90' x 120',. it went street to street front to back, it had 2 bedrooms, kitchen,
living room, bath, breezeway and one car garage. We paid 11,000 and the owner gave us the window treatments, a huge beveled wall mirror, an apartment size roll around washing machine that basically held one standard sheet at a time.
Today that 11,000 isn't even a down payment!

My! My! You have caused me to reminisce and bore! Another form of a senior moment!

Rosalie - Glad you had such a great vacation. Too bad about the foot. It's much nicer to be able to swim, relieves the aches and pains and prevents further injury that walking might incur. You'll have to keep telling us things about your visit.

SolShine - Isn't confession time the pits? But. as you said we have to take the responsibility for our actions. No one sat on your chest and shoveled it down your gullet. So, you get right back OP and put the past behind you (no pun intended!). (Well, maybe there is!)

Am going to go make a shake. Take care all. Will have to post a recipe.

MARIE - WELCOME BACK!!!!! Can't wait to see the pictures and hear the stories. Glad to have you back....breaking routine can really mess things up for me - you'll be back down in no time!

DEBBIE - It's DEFINITELY a once in a blue moon thing for me! I'm going to be a "Debelli" about this WOE! :D But Vince has been talking for weeks about eating pizza on his b'day and I decided to spare him my neurotic decision making / special ordering mannerisms for his birthday. AND he was very thankful, so I'm glad I did. BUT come my birthday we'll be eating someplace VERY SB friendly!! I agree with NANCEMEISTER - go get you something sexy at Victoria Secret!! I can't wait to shop there again!!

NANCEMEISTER - Psyllium is "instant-dookie medicine"! It's nuthin' but fiber!! I figgerd if I took it right away it might grab some of that olive oil and take it with it! Sangria: Red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon), Sugar, Brandy , Lemon slices, Orange slices, Apple slices. Very good!!..........errrr...............I mean Very BAD - It's VERY BAD STUFF!! :nono: Of course I told Meister that my other dear Meister sent birthday greetings!! :) He feels like he knows most of y'all he hears so much. We are going to my 15 H.S. reunion in July so we're going to have to see how much $$ we have left after that before I can commit to going. I'm also waiting for BIG ORANGE BABE to give us good news on prices, too!!

BOB - WHERE ARE YOU?????? IS SKEETER DRIVING OUR WAGON??

RALYNNE - My mom was a student teacher when I was in high school. The whole family came down for her graduation. I think my little brother was 8 years old at the time and right when it got quiet he asked if Mom was the oldest person in her class. LOL!! I think we appreciate the learning more when we have to pay for it ourselves and see how we "really" are going to use it in the "real world." I'm not a full time student but I'm always taking extra computer courses or exams for certifications.

CATLOVER - Thanks for checking in! We'll be sending good thoughts along about your MIL.

FILLISE - A torn cartlidge can't be comfortable. I'm so glad they can do so much with modern medicine these days! I know you'll be glad to be moving around like you want to again. Glad the recovery time is short, too! You'll be on the move getting people elected soon, won't you?

SEF - I had to laugh about your pants getting too long! I knew I was in trouble when all mine were starting to become floods! I'm looking forward to having to hike mine up again soon. And I LOVE your "senior moments" -- keep on having them!

ADAM'SRIB - Hope you make it over here!

How about some quick, easy recipes for lunches that can be prepared ahead of time and tucked away in the morning quickly?

By the way, I am right back on plan. Had my salad and chicken for lunch. In fact, I've only had 700 calories so far today and I'm trying to eat 1900 a day. UGH! Never thought I'd have trouble eating enough!!

Hello Ladies:)

Gee I don't know what I have to do to get my body to losing again. I'm so upset, I worked in the yard, I went swimming, I moved furniture all around my house and eat alot less. and no weight loss this wk. Sooo Close I could just  Anyway I'm still staying on program. but very discouraged.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies I really appreciate it. Just seems like it's getting harder the closer I get to this one goal. and I still have along ways to go. There;s another 100lbs to take off.

Frog: Well as you can tell by what I already said I'm not there yet. But when I am everyone's going to hear me doing the happy dance all over this board.

Quilter: thanks for the welcome back, it's so good to be back. I've missed you ladies so much. I learn alot from you all. it's good to be talking at ya.

Ralynne: Where did you purchase the rasphberry oil? I'd love to try some my self.

Fillise: Boy do I understand where your coming from girl. I have a Doc appt. the 29th to discuss my knee surgery too. I must have it this summer while my daughter is out of school It's better that way for the whole family. I'll say a prayer for you let me know how your doing.

Sef: Don't get to incouraged by me, I'm not there yet and this is becoming a struggle now. Not the program. having diabetics in the family the program is easy just not understanding why it's not comming off is the problem. anyway. we all have our bad days

Deb: Did you tell me that you got your agrave at Walgreens? I hope so cause there finally putting in a Walgreens here and I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

Congrats to all the losers this wk I just wish I was one of you.
Love to all Glory

Hey All:wave:

House is quiet, have it all to myself:spin: At least, for now:)

Sounds/looks like it's going to storm here soon-we need it. Just hoping tomorrow morning is okay for my walk, would hate to have 3 days in a row without walking since I don't go on Saturdays.

NANCE, thanks again for the call, you are so sweet! It was a nice surpise to p/u the tele and hear your voice. I'm glad you are back on track-I'm looking forward to October so I can see how far you've come! Hoping you will bring LDBLOND with you as well, you have no idea how much I am looking forward to this! Do or die, I'm gonna be there! Hmm, what size AM I? I too would like to know the answer to that riddle! Since I really have never worn clothes that "fit" it's hard for me to know what size I am. It seems in one mfg. I'm one size, and another, I'm another size. The black silk top that's too big is an 8, but it really runs big, I wore a red silk top the other night, tag on collar says 8, tag on arm said 6, I think it's a six. I can zip up the size 6 Calvin jeans I have (barely). Still too tight to wear out, may bust the zipper if I attempt to sit down. Ummm, I have a dress in a 12, another in an 8-so, when you ask me what size I am, geez, I'd love to know!!!! I contacted the flavorings company via e-mail, they said it's more potent than regular extract, I'm waiting for one more answer from him and then I'm going to order some-did you check out the flavors?? I'm dying to try a few!!! As for the teryaki sauce, yes, agave would be a great sub!!!

RALYNNE, hopefully you'll find some agave nectar near home, it's not worth it to purchase it on the net, too expensive as it is and then with shipping costs, I'd forget about it. Men, who knows how they think. I really don't think most are in tune with the changes women go through. We see our faces get bigger and smaller, but I don't think they look above the breasts sometimes! You are lucky you are tall, being short, things show up more drastically on you. Going to college, boy, I give you a load of credit!!!!!

CATLOVER, hope all goes well with your MIL if she has the surgery. Let us know how things go!! Thanks for checking in:)

FILLISE, not sure where those 2 have run off to now. I just e-mailed BOB to ask her where she is-I may have to go to Sarasota and hunt her down! Sparkle is probably working on her website, she'll pop in, I'm sure :)

SEF, you had me laughing about the pants being longer! I never thought of it that way!!! I don't know if my sister has an jealousy in her, maybe envious, but not jealous, but then again, who knows? She was a size 0 when I got married 20 years ago, she was all legs (she got the height, not me-I got the brains), and she was skinny until my nephew was born and then years later, she had 3 more kids and never really lost the weight, so here I am, finally the skinnier of us two-what a turn around from years ago. But alas, she still has the height! Honestly, I don't give a hoot what anyone thinks I look like anymore-I use to care when I was younger, and I tried to please so many people, but I found there is no pleasing everyone, and it's more important to please yourself-and that's exactly what I am doing now:)

SOL, me at VS, no way, not me! NEVER!!!! Glad to hear you are right back on track-you should set a goal and if you make that goal, that means you make it to Vegas!!!!!!! Can you check the Orlando newspaper on Sunday and see what specials they have from there to Vegas??

GLORY, are you sure you are eating enough?? You said you are eating less, maybe that's why you aren't losing. Oh, how I WISH you could get agave at Walgreens, nope, only at a health food store-sorry:(

Okay, time to go and watch the news and see what depressing things happened today-will check in later!

Toodles!

Evening everybody!

Deb, Nance, Sef: Thank you for being so sweet and supportive. I lied yesterday when I said that I wasn't going to get back on the scales. I did it this morning. And I was down 3 of the 7 that I gained. I think it is a mixture of problems. 1. The "dookie" thing and 2. My feet, legs, hands and face have been swollen so much with all of this hot weather. I have been drinking way over 10 glasses of water a day, but since I sit at a desk all day on the phone, I retain so much fluid. At least I think that is what it is. Anyway, thank you for being so thoughtful.

I think I'm going to bed early tonight. I have a raging headache. Hope you all have a great evening and day tomorrow.

Catlover: I hope everything goes well for you MIL. She will be in my prayers.

Goodnite everyone!

YO...CHERI....YOU GONE TO BED YET????

I have the same problem with the feet and legs...get yourself a little stool and put it under your desk. IT WORKS!! BOB
does it every day
Get a big ole cup....AND I MEAN BIG! I've got a 64 oz mug with a handle that I use at work and manage to drink a whole one every day...That will help with the "retaining" thing :o
ALSO...get up and walk around ever once in a while...if nothing more than walking around your desk, or in your cubbie...

I'm off to bed my self...hope this helps with your problem...

Hi All you Sugar Busting People!!!

Well, I’m finally getting this post ready to go. Geesh, so much to do . . . so little time! The pajama party last night was really fun. I laughed a lot. These are some really incredibly funny women. As far as the food goes, that was all good. I go there late and the horsdeurves were almost all gone, plus it was time for dinner. So that was hardly an issue. She had artichokes with butter, yummy!!! And a really great spinach/garbanza bean/garlic/olive oil spread. That was so good and I have to get the recipe for it. You all will love it. Dinner was a wonderful salad with chicken. The only thing illegal on it were a few of the ramen noodles, but hardly enough to matter. Dessert was a chocolate/raspberry cake. (One of the women in attendance owns a gourmet dessert company!) Anyways, I was sitting right next to her and just said, “Please don’t take offense, but I absolutely cannot eat any of that . . . not even a bite. “ She was fine with that. Actually, she’s the first person who told me about SB over a year ago, then she and her husband end up buying this business. Kind of ironic, wouldn’t you say? Anyways, the only thing that probably wasn’t smart was the wine. I had planned for one glass. Ended up with two and they weren’t small. But anyways, I drink alcohol so infrequently that it’s no big deal and it was a merlot which is better than that zinfadel/koolaid crap.

Since I wasn’t home this morning, I couldn’t weigh in. But will do so tomorrow. Wondering if I’m anywhere near that 169 mark. Getting so excited about hitting it.

DEB---That’s so great that you are SEEING the results of your hard work. How wonderful!!! I agree with Eli . . . you probably look healthy and alive! I’ve been on the lookout for a sunken cheek on my face. Everyone in a while when the light is just right, I think I see a wee bit of concaveness there instead of the other. Oh, can’t wait to be where you are!!! Yes, get a picture. Opinions you want???? Opinions you’ll get! Hey, did you get that episode of Jon Edward on Maury on tape??? I’m sick that I missed it. I’m so addicted to his regular show.

CHERI---How disappointing for you to see the needle go the wrong way!!! I’m sorry. You know what Deb always says . . . blame it on the dookie! Maybe after a good cleaning out, it will be more in your favor. I don’t blame you for not wanting to get on the scale. That happened to me for about 5 weeks. But now I’m back on the weighing thing. I was making it too important to me and saw that it could eventually become a problem. Anyways, keep your chin up my friend, even if you did gain back 7 pounds quickly, it will come back off quickly. I had gained in between 3-4 pounds during my hiatus from weighing and found that I dropped 4 in less than a week. So those refound pounds will slip away before you know it!

STAR--- I think it’s about time you had some good news!!! You sure do deserve a reason to smile. Heartfelt congrats for the big landmark. How wonderful for you. Hey, I know I can’t do it as well as Bogie, but I’ll do the happy dance with you. I’m doing it right now as a matter of fact!!!! Keep up the good work!!! It is paying off.

FROG---I agree with what you said to DEB abou getting rid of all the big girl clothes! When I lost the 30+ pounds on WW, I got rid of almost everything. Then when the pounds started to come back on, I freaked!!! Nothing in the closet fit. Whew!! That was quite a humbling experience. I thought I had been such hot **** with the weight off and then whoops I was looking for those elastic waistbands. Yuck . . . not a good feeling. But my theory is that if I had kept the big clothes, I wouldn’t have gotten back to the weightloss thing as quickly. I would have hunkered down inside my deep denial and then would have had even more to lose now. Did that make sense????

ROSALIE---WELCOME HOME!!!! So glad to hear that your trip went well. Sounds like everyone was up for a good time during your visit. How great that a lot of your family got to see you. Don’t worry about the 8 pounds!!! It will come right back off. Take care of that foot. No fun with an ache down there. Once you start swimming, that might give it some reliefe. Do you think? When do you have to go back to work? I hope you gave yourself a couple of days to get rested before you’re due back. We missed you while you were gone.

SOL---Your evening with Vince sounds wonderful. Isn’t it great to be able to look at everything you ate objectively through Fitday? It’s such a help to know exactly how far over you went. I’ll let you know that I did have two glasses of Merlot last night. Yes, that was my splurge and I enjoyed every drop of it. I paid today, but not with extra pounds. I had a wee bit of a hang over this morning. Just not used to drinking. We have really gotten away from it. I don’t want to blow the calories on alcohol and I don’t want to keep it in the house. Just like chocolate . . . if it’s here it will be consumed. HA!!!

SEF---That’s awesome that your clothes are feeling different. What a good sign. It’s working for you!!!! I haven’t had time to answer your email, but will try soon.

BOB---Glad to hear from you and know that everything is okay. I’m a worrier and always consider the worst! Yeah that all is okay! And it’s good to hear that Skeeter takes his commitment to the board so seriously. Pity he can’t type for you! Now that I would pay to see. Hey, all this talk of football makes me think I may start paying attention to how the Vols do this year. If I was to cheer for anyone, it would definitely be them (since I have that TN connection). Anyways, how about a little Vol Football 101 course???

Well, that’s it from this end! Better get some shut eye. I had to come home today from work and take a nap. Haven’t done that in forever, but still suffering from the excess of last night. Hope everyone has a fantastic friday. Talk to you later.

Just thought I'd check this out one more time. I waa stitching and am taking a break. Rare thing I'm usually a stitching fool, but then I didn't know about this Board!!!

I posted a recipe I thought some of you might like. It's not hard and it's good.

SolShine - Never heard the expression "instant Dookie medicine before! Let's see Sangria is made of all the right stuff except the sugar. Why not use Splenda or Agave Nectar. A little red wine is okay. We used to make our own Sangria the right way......which is now wrong!

Glory - Sure we all have bad days but you must have coped with them along this woe. Maybe the clue to present dilemna is the eat less part. Maybe you are over anxious and eating too little. I have seen that discussed here. You'll do it!

Going to call it a night. At least in front of the computer!!

Oh! To the English TV Show fans. Did you read in the paper that John Shaw is battling cancer of the esophagus? He has a positive attitude. The article mention two other things he was in besides Inspector Morse. A lawyer in Kavanagh, QC and his latest
mini series The Glass. Have you seen them? I never heard of them.

OH well, Goodnight!

Hi, Boy this board has been busy!! But that is super. I know where to come when I need motivation.

THis week has been good for me, down two more pounds, so I keep hitting a low weight that I have seen for many many moons.

Rosalie Glad to hear that you are back and had a wonderful time, but sorry to hear about the foot. I know from experience that feet problems are no fun. I ended up having surgery two years ago and at first it still didn't help the prolbem. But, thank God things have been wonderful with my feet for while.

Cheri I was so glad to read that things came down alittle for you today. I understand the frustration you must have felt yesterday. But we all know that things go in cycles and it will come off!!! Keep smiling.

Deb- haven't the rains been something. great for after work naps every afternoon. I just love a nap when it is raining. But we do need the rain. My grass is grass and doesn't crunch anymore.

To everyone else- I wish you a great Friday and hope all goes well .

Good morning all :)

I had a good day yesterday, apart from feeling tired all day. Didn't have any energy for cleaning or gardening but I guess that can wait a few more days. I've started using FITDAY again and took in about 1300 calories yesterday. I know I am more careful about what I eat when I am writing everything down. I had to go grocery shopping as my fridge was bare. Stocked up on lots of salads and veggies. Now I just have to plan my menus for the next few days.

One of the places we visited on my bus tour around the UK was Edinburgh. We went out for dinner and a Scottish show that evening. The show was good with Scottish dancing and bagpipes. Of course there was talk about the haggis. Everyone groaned at the thought of eating it. I never knew what they were made of but the guy told us they don't contain all the nasty stuff people think they are made of. He told us they are made with lamb, onions, and oatmeal and spices. They came around with a tray of it at the end of the show for us to try it. I tried a little and it tasted and looked like a hamburger meat mixture. He said they always serve it with a mixture of mashed potato and yellow turnip. (Of course I tried some of that too, but only about a teaspoonful.)

I've taken one roll of film in which I will get tomorrow but I don't know about posting any as I don't know anyone with a scanner.

Sef - I'm a John Thaw fan. I've watched most of his Inpector Morse series. The new show The Glass is on in the U.K. at the moment although I didn't get to see it, just the last five minutes of one episode. I don't think it has been shown over here yet. Kavanagh QC was on 10 - 15 years ago.

Kim - I have a few more days off before I have to go back to work. I don't work until next Tuesday evening. I needed some more time off. I've been so tired since I got back. It takes a while to get used to the time difference. I was up at 4.30 a.m. yesteday and went to bed at 9 p.m. last night after having had two snoozes during the day!

Glory - I'm glad you have your computer up and running again. You must have lost some since you last posted if you are down 100 lbs. If I remember correctly you were in the nineties the last time you posted. That is a wonderful achievement and I am sure you will be losing more soon..

Cheri - I'm glad to hear you have lost a few of the pounds you had gained recently. It sounds like it is mainly fluid retention. I agree with what BOB said about taking time to walk around your office periodically and getting your feet up a little.

Lamap - Good to hear you are down two more pounds.

Star - Congrats. on reaching another landmark. I am doing the happy dance for you.

Fillise - I hope everything goes well with your knee surgery.

I must finish this as I want to get out for a swim again this morning and the early morning swim finishes at 8 a.m.

Will check in again later.

Marie :)

Morning all

Worked out a little last night, but not like I should've. Got alot to do tonight to get done so I don't have to worry about it for the weekend. Bought a push mower last night a real nice one for $25.00 for me to use by the lake to mow and trim. Exercise!!!! My husband thinks I'm strange, but he doesn't get it. Called around yesterday for motels/hotels in Cedar Point and my goodness for what they get you for and for what you pay to get in we will spend $300 just for hotel/tickets for 2 days. So we are packing the coolers full of food for those 2 days. I've never been so we'll see if I keep my food down or not:dizzy: . My husband is going to try to get me on this bungy thing. I don't know about that!:dizzy: :p

Didn't get much sleep again from Cristina not sleeping well. I don't know how I still have all the energy that I do, but I keep going like the energizer bunny. My husband always says," just to sit down and relax for once." You never get anything done that way.

Well starting back at school this fall will be tough, but when I'm done next year that'll be nice. Then I'm going to go back to get another bachelors in International Business, then I should be finished, at least until my kids are out of school. They start swim lessons monday for 6 weeks, but my son isn't in any sports this summer, he didn't want to do anything. I've tried encouraging him, but he's just not interested. Now if it would've been a hunting lessons with bows or something, I couldn't of signed him up fast enough.

Frog- I agree I don't keep any bigger pants although I only have one size to deal with. When I lost 20lbs before I got pregnant I only had the clothes that fit me and I stayed that size for over 1 year until I got pregnant and infact didn't even gain weight until I was 4 months pregnant. I have 1 pair of jeans I can wear and that's it, I won't buy anymore because there is no sense in it and then I won't get back into my old jeans. I can put them on, but they are just way to tight to move. They are still 11's that I wear now, but they are levi's and they seem to run smaller than other jeans. There like a 9/10 instead, because when I can wear those i seem to fit into 9/10's in other jeans.

Well better get to work.

Have a good weekend all will be too busy to talk this weekend.

GLORY and CHERI - You'll get there! Is this a weight you've been at for a while before? I think I read somewhere that our body has a "memory" and tends to get stuck sometimes at weights we've been at before. Keep on keepin' on and it'll come on off. I agree with BOB on the stool. I have one under my desk too and it really helps.

DEBBIE - I'll check the paper for sure and see what they have on airfares. They have things with sleeves on them at VS. :D Sexy clothes don't have to be skimpy, but they sure do a lot for the self-esteem. Eli probably wouldn't mind helping you pick something out. :o

BOB - Glad to hear you haven't abandoned us!

QUILTER - Your PJ party sounds fun - and very well thought through. Congratulations on passing up the dessert!! Sounds like it wasn't even a tough decision. That's awesome!! I'm getting the hang of Fitday and loving it! It's so much easier/nicer than just counting calories, etc. and it's way more information than I would be tracking on my own. I just wish there was some place where we could record the glycemic index for the foods, too. Gee, you'd a thunk I paid for the program or something. :)

SEF - that sounds like a good idea on the Sangria, but really, we don't drink much at all....just an occasional glass of red wine. The Sangria was a special treat for Vince's birthday as it's one of his favorite drinks.

LAMAP - Congrats on the loss!

MARIE - Glad you have a few extra days to get re-acclamated and rested before jumping back into work. I want to do that next time we have vacation. Makes it a little easier to slip back into the regular routines.

GATORGAL Where are you?? I'll be back at Fitness Coach today after work.

Well, we've been getting lots of rain and things are finally starting to grow again. The crepe myrtles have some flowers, my 'mater plant has 'maters and the herbs are growing like weeds. I hope to get them planted in the ground this week-end. I'd like to put some recipes up on the board, too.

Have a great day everyone!!

Hello fellow SBers!

I hope you are all having a great day. Was MIA yesterday; after work I went to help a friend move her antique booth out of an antique mall. She has decided to take a break from that so that she can spend more time with her mother who has Alzheimer's and lives several hours away. My friend does this in addition to working a 40+ hour a week job with young children (under 3 y.o.) who have visual impairments, being an elder (the first woman in the 100 year history of the church) in her church, being a single Mom of a pre-teen, and serving on a TON of committees in the community. HOW does she do it all?!? :?: She is amazing!!

DEB - I was saddened to read that your Mom conveyed such a message from your sister. As I said in chat the other night, "Bird" now feels like "Big Bird" next to you and this must not be easy for her. Maybe she is struggling with your success in many ways. If you have always struggled with your weight, and now you aren't, then your family dynamics are no longer the status quo. You may have rocked the family boat a bit. Perhaps she will become more comfortable with the "new you" and stop saying things like that. And I hope that your Mom will not be the messenger for your sister anymore. So sorry that happened to you. I am envious of your trip to Canada! Are you going to the world's largest mall when you are there? If so then you will shop til ya drop!! You can get your work out just walking the mall! I know what you mean about getting rid of clothes that don't fit, especially ones that you like or paid more money for than you were comfortable with. Before I went back to work in December I purchased some clothes and none of them fit about a month later. Even though I was proud of myself, it hurt me in the pocket-book! Lately I have been trying to avoid buying pants that are "fitted." I wonder what size I will "stop at!"

BOB - so glad that Skeeter was barking at the computer. We all miss you when you are away. Nance makes me laugh with her posts to you. That was a great graphic you used with the football players! I hate to see what it is gonna be like around here once football season starts! Did that old beau stop calling? Did you give in and call him back?

ROSALIE - Glad to hear that you had a good time on your vacation. Would love to see the pics. If you have them developed at some of the national chains (wal-mart, etc) they can put them on a disc for you and you can upload them without a scanner. Ask the processor.

FILLISE - Glad to hear that VBS has been a treat for you. That was something that I always enjoyed as s child. I have GOT to go get those pics developed today!

QUILTER - Sorry that you had to leave the chat the other night, but I understand what a headache getting thrown off can be. I LOVE the idea of the sleep over for grown-ups. I've always wanted to do that. Artichokes - yum!

I know there are many more that I still want to repsond to, but I have to jet for a little while. WIll try (I promise) to get back later!

Peace,

FROG

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

Just got in from my walk/jog, did 4.5miles in 55:45, so hot out there, since the kids have no school I have been going later than normal and it's just too darn hot. I may try to start doing it in the evening if I can.

Going to take Lauren up to her friends house for a sleep-over today, so I invited my Mom to come along and we'll make a day out of it. Of course, a day juist wouldn't be complete without going to lunch at Ole Ole and a Carbolite dessert (we'll be up in that area). Probably hit the HFS up there, and gosh knows where else-have cooler, will travel!!!!:)

I need to get back into my water drinking, last 2 days I've hardly had a drop, and it seems that there hasn't been a drop on the scale either:(

Oh yes, and today is my 15 Month SB Anniversary!!! Boy, how time does fly!!;)

TIGGERME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope you have a wonderful day today!!!

BOB, glad to see you finally got your butt back on the board-I hope Skeeter is going to keep you in and on line now, we had a chick to dog talk over the internet while you were sleeping!

CHERI, glad to know the scale is down again, somewhat, be patient, it will go back down-I speak from first hand experience on this!!!:)

QUILTER, sounds like you had fun at your sleep-over! Was it for any special occasion? How many were there? You did good if the worst of it was the wine. I'm sure you're back to being 100%! What did Paul do while you were away? I guess Maddie kept him company. Sorry, I didn't tape the Maury show-but JE was really impressive. I don't have cable, so I don't get to see his regular show:( 169, here you come!!!

SEF, going to check the recipe board, haven't had a chance to see what you've posted yet, but I'm sure it must be something yummy!

LAMAP, congrats, another 2lbs gone, that's wonderful!!! Yes, we've gotten some of the rains, but definitely not enough, my grass is still a bit crunchy in areas. As long as it rains at night or in the afternoon, I don't mind-but I hate when it cuts into my walking time!!!

ROSALIE, I know what bagpipes are, but what the heck are haggis??? No excuses on the picture, send it to QUILTER, she has a scanner and I know she'd be happy to do the job for you!!! Hope you get some rest in before going back to work, I know sometimes you need a vacation after a vacation!

RALYNNE, have a wonderful time this weekend! Your schedule makes me tired, and I'm sure with Cristina being up at all hours, you must be pooped yourself. I think YOU are the Energizer Bunny!

SOL, unless there's a underwire bra and it's not see through and has sleeves and isn't silkly, then there's a slight possibility I would find something-I'm still wearing my 2x stuff to bed-the bigger, the better, and more comfy!!!

FROG, you are probably right about my sister, and yes, my Mother has always played the messanger, but when I was younger, it was always from my critical Grandmother. The ONLY reason I am going to Canada IS to go the the largest mall in the world!!! I figure, if I'm going clothes shopping, I'm going to go to where I will have a good chance of finding something, at a good price (summer wear should be marked down by then) with a good exchange rate and good weather.

Okay gals I must get in the shower and get ready. I'll be back on this evening at some point or another. I hope you all have a wonderful day and a great weekend!!!

Good morning, troups! What a nice morning. It's actually cool enough (with miniscule humidity) that we're able to have the doors and windows open. That was a very nice and welcomed surprise.

Got up and did 55 minutes on the TM this morning. Wow!!! Can hardly believe it. I've discovered that it's the first 7 minutes that are the worst. During that time, I ignore little "stopping thoughts" that fly through my brain. After I hit about the 13th minute, I am good to go. Maybe it's actually the breaking of sweat that is the hardest part. Once I'm drenched, I get a little "high" from that and want to keep going. Anyways, feeling great about my efforts in that department.

The needle on the scale was leaning heavily toward the 160's this morning. But don't want to "speak it" until I'm absolutely sure that's where it wanted to go. I went just over 1600 calories yesterday, and that's been the highest this week. So we'll see what happens after today's lower calorie intake.

I've got a question for you experts. What's a good reading for cholesterol. Got my report back from the dr yesterday and it said Total chol, 141. There was a note to the side saying under 200 was good. But I don't know that much about it. Could anybody point me in the direction of a good website that explains all this? Now that I ask this, I'm betting somebody tells me we have the info right here on one of our threads. So I'll go check that out too. But if you can think of some other place, I'd really appreciate it.

ROSALIE---Your trip sounds wonderful. I really wanted to get up to Edinburgh, but ran out of time. I'll bet going on the bus with a group was a good idea. Did you know anybody else on that particular adventure? Or did you make friends along the way. Did you stop off in York and do some shopping? I loved it there.

RAYLYNNE---We want to do the Cedar Point thing this summer. It's been years (like 25) since I've been there. My husband LOVES, LOVES, LOVES rollercoasters. As a matter of fact we are both members of the American Coasters Enthusiasts. So one of his deep desires is to go up the CP and ride that new one that's so steep and so scarey. I may watch that one from ground level. Hope you have fun. It's upsetting that they have to charge so darn much! It's the same way here with Kings Island. We are headed out there next month for a Saturday. Already have our tickets. Anyways, I'll love hearing how it goes for you and all about what rides you venture onto. Let me know what's super scarey and I'll stay away from them. BTW, I wouldn't even look twice at that bungy thing . . . just walk away and be strong! LOL!

Well, girls, I think I'm going to get a little cleaning done. Later today I have to drive an hour to meet my bro. They had borrowed our lawn mower and now it's time to bite the bullet and get it back. Take care all. I'll check in later. Have great days.

Hello everyone!

For those of you who care about this sort of thing--I'm doing my postings today in Auburn colors. WAR EAGLE!!!!

Glory--we'll keep each other ispired through outkneww surgeries. It's no fun, but I'm looking forward to getting it behind me.

Thanks to everyone who expressed their support about the upcoming knee fix. It means a lot! The surgery will be on July 10th--which will be my one year SB anniversary!

Whose cholesterol was 141 (I scrolled down but couldn't find the post)? That's excellent! I know a lot of people who would kill for those numbers!

Deb--I join with those who think your sister might be a little jealous. It's not just the loosing weight--but the sheer magnitude of the accomplishment. Everyone needs time to adjust--even you!

BOB--glad to see you back with us. I'm also hoping for rain today. May go hang some clothes out on the line--just to make sure!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Good Morning!

Getting ready to go on our second camping trip this year!! I'll be back Sunday. Can't wait to get up to the pine trees and out of the heat!!!!

Debs
I got my book yesterday from half.com. Guess I didn't read too closely, it was the SB COOKBOOK! It will still come in handy, but I need to get the original book. Did you get anything ordered from that link you sent me? Let me know!

Quilter
If you e.mail me your address to "Nofingfane@aol.com" I will be happy to send you out some cholesterol info. from my office. We have plenty! Your cholesterol is great! Did they tell you your HDL, LDL and triglycerides? There's a ratio of those 4 values that tells you what your risk ratio is, unless they didn't do a complete lipid
panel and only checked your cholesterol. Call them and ask them!

Well, I'm happy to report since WIW I have lost 2.5 pounds!!!! I bought lots of fruit and SB snacks to stay on track while camping. If I only had a lap top to keep in touch with you all, life would be perfect!!! I gotta pack before work, so I'm signing off. I'll be back Sunday, and will catch up then. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!! :)

DEB---Happy, happy, happy 15 month anniversary!!! Wow think back where you were 15 months ago. Does it even seem possible that you've accomplished SO MUCH in such a short amount of time. (I know it didn't seem like a short amount of time when you were in the midst of it!) It really is incredible. And I'm so happy for you and proud of you and tickled to know you!!! Thanks for all the inspiration you give us!!! Here's to 15 months of successful maintaining!!! I'll drink to that!

TIGGER---Much happiness to you on your birthday!!! I hope it turns out to be a great day filled with all sorts of wonderful memories that make you smile!!! Oh, and I hope you get your wish when you blow out your candles on that sugar free cake!

Hi again

Tiggerme - HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Frog - Thanks for the info about the pictures. I shall be making enquiries next time I am in Walmart or one of the big camera stores. It would be great if I could get them on disk.

Kim - It sounds like your pyjama party was fun. You must have felt like a kid again. I didn't know anyone on the bus tour but everyone was very friendly. There were several people from the U.S and from Australia as well as from several other countries. I didn't have a chance to do any shopping in York. By the time I visited the cathedral, had a coffee and a snack it was almost time to take off again. The tour was called Taste of Britain and that is exactly what it was. We didn't stay more than a couple of hours in any one place, except for overnight. But it gives you an idea of what these places are like and if it is worthwhile returning for a longer visit. The city I really liked the most was Chester. We stopped there on the last day. I would really like to visit there again and stay a few days. Maybe the next time. I have a friend who visits UK almost every year to see family. The last time I was over three years ago we went on a trip together and I'm hoping we can do the same again in a year or two. It would be cheaper too going with someone as we would make our own way by bus or train and book accommodation when we arrive.

Getting back to shopping, the only things I bought for myself were a spring jacket and a blouse. I would have bought some pants but any I tried didn't fit but I really didn't look too hard. I am reluctant to buy too much at present as I am hoping to go down another size or two. (If it will ever happen). Almost everything I am wearing now I have bought since January this year so thought I had better curb the spending for now.

Deb - Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish cooked in the stomach skin from a sheep (sounds gross). It often contains the liver, heart and kidneys from the sheep. It is usually served only once a year on Robbie Burns night (he was a Scottish poet). What they served us supposedly only contained minced lamb and onions and oatmeal (I hope he was telling the truth). I hope you have a good shopping trip when you come up to Edmonton in September but I don't know if you will find many summer clothes at that time. All our summer sales are on now. By August the shops are beginning to get the winter supplies in. I don't want to put a damper on your shopping trip but just want to make you aware. Do you have relatives in Edmonton? If you do perhaps they can advise on what might be available in the stores at that time. I am sure you are not interested in buying winter clothes!

All for now. Time to start getting lunch ready. I'm thinking of making the salmon patties.

Have a good day everyone.

Marie :)

lamap - 2 more pounds, wow!

Rosalie - Thanx for info on John Shaw. We know The Glass won't show here for a while if it is current in UK. But I wish the Kavanagh series would play here as that's quite old. I don't care how old it is, I just like him!

I never suffered jet lag type of tiredness except on my return from OZ. I got home at midnight and was unpacking and whizzing around like I was normal. The next day I had to go to work (smart you to wait). By the end of that day I just fell into
a stupor!

ralynne - A push mower!?! You are going back in time! We had no choice and you choose one over a power mower! Have much of an area do you have to mow?

SolShine - I don't drink as much as I did, not that was an alcoholic. I liked a social drink or a drink in the evening. Sangria was sort of a party drink to make as it went a long way

Quilter - 141 is very good!! Need the other numbers checked as that is an over all number. What about Triglycerides, LDL and HDL? Did you watch The View this a.m.? They had a segment on that subject.

Fillise - 2.5 wondeful!

TIGGER - HAPPY! HAPPY!

Hye Everyone!

Just got home from a full day out. Had a great lunch at Ole Ole after dropping Lauren off at her friends house. Ran around to get fruits and veggies and a couple things at the HFS, ran for Carbolite-fav. flavor today, coconut! Found a low-carb bread today that I had to try, it was soft and looked really good. Normally, I wouldn't buy something like this, but it wasn't too expensive and it was gnawing at my to try-it's delicious! Has 57 calories and 3 carbs, no sugar!

No kids home tonight! YEAH!!! Michael went to my Mom's to sleep over, Lauren I don't have to get until noon tomorrow! Eli is due home in about an hour, not sure of our plans together, don't mind if we just stay home this evening.

OPINIONS PLEASE!!! I had a brainstorm and wanted to know what you all thought about this idea...What do you think about doing a round-robin on the telephone? What I mean is, I call one person and chat with them on the phone, then they call the next person and chat and so on and so on, until the last person calls me back-so each of us has the opportunity to speak with two board members. We could do this once a month, or every other month and each time, you can speak to two different people. If we all put a limit of 20 minutes and dial something like 10-10-220, or a similar company, it will only cost $1.00 for 20 minutes of calling. Please let me know what you think about this idea. QUILTER thought it was a great one (I do have my moments I guess), and I think it's a great idea. So, opinions are definitely wanted!!!! You can e-mail me directly or reply to this on the board-either way, I'd like your input!!!

QUILTER, enjoyed our chat this evening:) Good for you, 55 minutes ont he TM is great. That little high are those wonderful endorphins being released-what a great feeling, huh?!? I don't know much about chol. but your numbers sound REALLY wonderful, and low-I think mine was in the 170s! Check Google for more info. Thanks for the anniversary congrats-lets just say you drank to me at the party the other night;) Here's to the next 15 months!!

FILLISE, how long does the Dr. think you will be out of commision after the surgery?? WOW, you're 1 year SB ANNIVERSARY is in a few weeks-has it flown by for you as 15 months have for me???? Looking back almost a year ago, how do you see the changes in you and the way you were then and now??

NANCE, GOOD FOR YOU! Down 2.5 since WIW and it's only 2 days later!!! Poop, can't believe you got the wrong book, oh well. I haven't ordered from the American Spice site yet, but will be doing so this week I think, just have to narrow down my choices-hard to do. Bought some coffee extract today, so coffee milkshake tonight:) Have a wonderful time this weekend and be careful out in the wilderness;)

ROSALIE, YUCK! That dish sounds disgusting, almost as bad as the name of that other dish that I will NEVER forget you mentioning so long ago, SPOTTED DICK! Sorry, not matter what they said was in it, I wouldn't touch it:eek: You do have guts!!!! I couldnt' help but put that in!!! WOW, thanks for the tip about the summer stuff. Living here in Miami, that's basically all we wear year round, so I thought I'd have a good selection. Maybe I should shoot for a trip there in August?? Nope, no relatives in Edmonton, just want to go and shop til I drop!! Have you ever been there???

CATLOVER, Glad to hear all is well so far with your MIL:) From what you posted of your eating, I don't see why you would have trouble with the protein, looks okay, but hard to really say without amounts. I'm more worried about the fat amount, the carbs, only 1 fruit and very little fiber. For instance, when you have the cream cheese, is it regular, low fat, or no fat-and how much are you using? All this makes a difference. Is you apple 5 ounce or 8 ounces? How many grams of fat in the pork patties, the cheese, how much do you use, an ounce? Not that you have to be so picky, but this really is the ONLY way you will know for sure if you are presise in your amounts that you are consuming. Let me know if I can help you figure this out any better.
Well gals, I guess that will do me for now. I'll try to check in later if there is nothing more pending on my plate for the evening, and with no kids home, I'm sure hoping I won't be on this computer much, if at all!!!!;)

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

It's been really hard for me to get caught up with the reading cause I'm such a slow reader, so please forgive me if you directed a question to me that I'm not answering.

Thanks for all the lovely comments so many of you made about Daxton's pic. I DO think he's adorable, but I realaize as his MawMaw that I'm a tad partial to thinking that :D

RHOO, Thanks for the welcome back.. I sure missed all of you too. So glad to have this puter up & running again. Hoping to catch up with some of these posts. Hope all is well with you. Loved the pic of your sweetheart in her dance costume. Too Cute!

AMSERAPHIM,Congrats on the break-through on the scale. I HEAR you excitment...

Solshine HI!! Glad to see the weight is coming off! Your hard work at the gym & paying closer attention to the cals seem to be working for you. Glad to hear it. Sounds like you & Vince had a nice time for his birthday outing. You are so right about being able to celebrate without food rewards, but funny how we justify it by saying we've earned it...LOL I do it too. I think we probably all do. So glad to hear that you're getting the much needed rain!

Debbie Thanks for sending the Tabouli recipe. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I've tried different ones & always seem to enjoy it. Glad to hear that you've reached your goal!! That's great! Such an accomplishment, isn't it? I know the closer I get to mind, the more excited I am. I feel so much better about myself these days. It has done alot for my self-esteem, & DH loves it too!! Yours & Quilter's idea of the Round-Robin sounds like fun & could be very interesting. I'm for it!

FILLISE,Sounds like you're really enjoying VBS. Our's is the last week of July. Can't wait. I am going to be helping out this year after being out of it for several years now. But it's falling on my short work week, so I volunteered. But more than that, I'm looking forward to Mission's Camp the first week of July. I will be camp nurse this year & REALLY looking forward to being involved with that again. I have really missed it. DH had been out of work for 4 years & I couldn't afford to take the time off, so I had just dropped everything I had been involved with. Didn't realize how much I would miss it.

SEF, LOL Funny how little things like our pants getting longer thrill us as we loose those unwanted pounds. LOL Don't blame you for not keeping the present clothes that you're growing OUT of...I'm getting rid of all mine too...daughters are glad to take some of it off my hands, but you know, that worries me for them cause they are putting on too many lbs. Hopefully they will correct that before they get my age.

You know, I'm weighing under 150 now, but I still see myself as I was, weighing 193 & don't EVER want to be back there again, I guess that's why I'm one of the "worriers". We all are fighting the same unwanted pounds & that is our bound.

CHERI, Glad to hear the weight is coming back down. Sounds like it's mostly water gain, so hang in there. You'll get there. Hope your headach gets better!

LAMAP,Glad to hear the numbers are still coming down for you!

ROSALIE,So glad to hear that you had a wonderful holiday.Sounds like you stayed pretty busy & saw alot of sights. Glad to hear that you don't have to rush back to work like I did. Still have not finished unpacking...lol Hey, that haggis sounds alot like a cajun dish that is often prepared in our area, except ours is prepared with the skin of a cow's stomach & is called "Chaudain" (not certain of the spelling) It's been so long since I've eaten it that I can't remember for sure what all the stuffing is made of, but I want to say beef, rice & seasonings. It is really tasty from what I remember.

Ralynne, I've seen some of the flavored oils, but have never bought any. Might have to do that the next time I come across it at the supermarket. Sounds really yummy in the rice dish you posted. Yeah, pushing a mower sounds like really good exercise, but also sounds like hard work! LOL

QUILTER/Kim, Hey a cholesterol of 141 is fantastic! Keep it up! or rather, down...hehehe

StarChaser,WoooHooo on breaking that 300 mark. You GO GIRL!! Glad to hear that you're healing well. Keep up the great work!

CATLOVER Glad to hear your MIL's surgery went well. Your menu for the day sounds pretty good.

BOB, Yeap, I agree, that's the kind of camping I like too...got to have the comforts of home... LOL Glad to hear that you're hanging in there & back at the front of that wagon train.

Well, got to go. Will try to keep up with the posting. This is my long stretch at work, but I'll at least drop in & say hi if nothing else. See ya!!

Just a quickie . . .

CATLOVER---Have you tried going to Fitday.com and signing on there. It's a great way to track what you are eating. Counts calories and gives you percentages of fats, carbs, proteins that you have eaten that day. I thought it would be a hassle and avoided the whole idea for months. But it's really not. A little work to get set up, but then you are in and it's easy as pie (sugar free pie that is!) Just thought I'd suggest that since you said you were having troubles getting the right amount of protein.

Gotta go. Ready to fall asleep.
Nite.

Hey everybody!

Still stuck at 244. I try to be patient, knowing that I lose in spurts, but I must admit that I'm ready for another spurt!

Deb--I've been thinking about your question. I've learned a lot about myself after almost one year on SB. First, I'd given up on the idea of ever losing weight, so the fact that I've actually lost a significant amount of weight continues to amaze me. More importantly though, the discipline I'm aquiring has served me in other areas of my life. I think it is one of the reasons I decided to start my own business. I'm learning that I can achieve my dreams! I'm also much more aware of my body. I'd always just tried to ignore it before--now I am aware of what it needs and how it feels. Heartburn--which was a daily occurence a year ago doesn't exist for me anymore (unless I eat sugar/refined starches). Emothional eating isn't as much of an issue either--but I do pay attention to when my body tells me it needs food. I find that I can trust my body when it sends these signals.

I'll reflect on this more as my anniversary date draws nearer. This has been an intense year for me in many ways,

I actually had a surprise a couple of weeks ago! I was sitting talking to someone and realized that my legs were crossed. Do you know how many years it has been since I was able to cross my legs anywhere except at the ankles (which, as we all know is the only place a lady will cross her legs :o )? I was shocked!

Anyway, I have a quiet weekend planned. I'm doing some campaign research today and then maybe a movie tonight. BTW I'm listening to the CD for "Oh Brother Where Art Thou? It is wonderful folk/gospel!

Good day everyone!

Thought I'd check in and see what was happening with all you lovely people! But only Kim has been up and about this morning. I finished my Friensghip sampler and want to start another. I have a request from my dil for a couple of hand towels with an apple design. Also want to do a sampler for an adoptive mother telling the child about choosing and loving it. Last but not least a map of Louisiana!

Catlover - Glad mil's surgery went to well. It is amazing what can be done.

Deb - Phone call don't sound half bad! Might be fun!

Bob - Cute cartoon!

Melf - Can understand about your concern for your daughters. If you missed one of my previous posts, I have concern for my daughter. At one point when she started gaining I tried to talk to her, which I know prbably hurt. She lashed back with a you have no right to talk, look at you remark. I told her I do look at me and
that's why I was talking. Sge knows I'm trying to lose now and it's a sort of sarcastic way that she will ask how much I have lost. Oh well, maybe if we set a bad example maybe we can set a good one now. My ds would kill if I offered her my "in grown" clothes!

You know I was looking at the map you aren't that far away. It takes us about 3 hrs to get to Lake Charles. You awaya before that.

Will see if anyone got ambitious later on and posted.

Take care,

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!

Just got home from garage sales, nothing exciting at all out there today, though I did pick up a 13" Sharp color tv (no remote though), got it for $10, works beautifully! My TV in the kitchen went on the blink a couple months ago and I just didn't have the $$$ to get a new one, so when I saw this she wanted $20, and we settled for $10:)

Scale is really up for me today. I know I've been eating too many calories and too many fats the last few days, not drinking my water and taking off Thursday from walking, so this must be having an effect on me somewhat, the rest, I'll blame on some hormones. Been doing better today, actually just had a pear, the first thing to eat since I woke up, so I plan on just being really careful today:)

BOB, I guess it took some time, but it seems we are going to get the storms you had last night-it's looking UGLY out there now~ At least it waited til I got back from garaging! I had wanted to go to Canada in Sept, but ROSALIE says all the summer wear will be gone by then, so I may just have to rethink this entire plan out now. Have laptop, will travel!

MELF, let me know how you like the tabouli when you make it. Do you like Middle Eastern food in general?? Glad you liked the ROUND ROBIN TELEPHONE idea, will put you on my list, will be e-mailing everyone with info that shows interest. Will probably post the information again on Monday since the board is pretty quiet during the weekends. I can totally relate to how you see yourself at your old weight, it's not until recently that I see a difference in myself, and then, I'm still critical about what I see in the stinking mirror!

FILLISE, thanks for sharing with me and the rest of this board your reflections of the past year-I can relate to everything you have said! Even down to the crossing of the legs-such little things that really mean so much to us who couldn't do it before. Seeing collar bones is a big thing for me as well;) You are doing WONDERFUL!!!!

SEF, a map of LA? That sounds like an interesting piece someone is going to have you make them! Like I told MELF above, going to re-post the info on the telephone calls this week and will e-mail all that are interested in doing it-it will definitely be enjoyable to speak to everyone!!

Guess I'll go see what I can scrounge up and call lunch today. Lauren just got home, Michael is still with my parents and Eli is at work, so things are a bit quiet around here, which I should take advantage of and get some things done.

Will check in with you all this evening sometime!

TOODLES!:)

Hi

Boy what a Saturday. I woke up early--7:30 with the sun in my face and my first thought was I should get up and walk cause they are saying that we are going to have a rainy day, but before I could get my head off the pillow, I fell back to sleep. Woke again at 9 to hear thunder and it was overcast. I got up and tried to find the radar picture on tv but the weather channel was airing a special. I really tried to stay wake-but headed back to bed. Slept well, till 12:30 and then I knew this was getting out of hand and that I have to get out of bed. What a lazy so and so. I think I try to make up for all the hours of sleep I lost during the week. Plus having the house to myself all the time-living by myself- the house is always quiet.

Now I have to do something, but we are having lots of rain, and everytime I think I will go walk in the rain- I hear the thunder and see lightening. Hopefully be later today this will clear out and I can go then.

Sef- what to you do to the sampler- or should I say how do you do it. Sounds like fun, and productive.

Fillise- what insight and growth you have expirenced in the last year. and that is growth of the good kind. And all this cause you decided to lose weight. Makes it even more worth while. Congrads on the great progress.

Deb- I think the phone calling would be fun. I have been with this SB thread since late NOv and sometimes I still feel I'm new, hard to keep all the names straight. BUt talking would really change that. What a bargain for the TV- I wish I could like garage sales- but I always feel I should pay the asking price which I know is wrong, so I don't go. I guess I need to go with a master like you to learn fun. ENjoy the dark rainy afternoon, and beware of the hail in your area.

Well, I better go get something done today, tonight taking my Mom out to eat , and browse at the mall. Maybe we will get a bargain or two. I am looking for a watch, and may buy it, but won't wear it until I have lost 75 pounds. Hopefully it won;t take to much time till I can wear it.

Have a great day.

Hey, it's SATURDAY!!!

Boy have I been busy today. Hope all of you are enjoying a relaxing weekend. I'm in between appointments number 2 & 3. Yes I scheduled three different things to go to today. Way too much for this old gal. I enjoy my weekends free and easy going. Anyways, all is okay, just a little pressed for time. Would love a nap right now, but don't see that happening.

Did the TM this morning 57 mnutes. Oooo I am sneaking up on 1 hour!!! Won't that be great!!! Maybe tomorrow!

Welcome to ADAMS RIB. Don't worry about learning your way around here, it's pretty easy. What you don't know, just ask. There's always people ready with answers. Wow, you have really kicked butt this week . . . EIGHT POUNDS!!! AWESOME!!!!! Sonds like you are getting the hang of the SB way of life. Good luck to you.

FILLISE---Thanks so much for sharing those thoughts about how you have changed. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! You have put in the work and have really seen the pay off. FANTASTIC, SUPER, WONDERFUL job!!! I loved what you said about learning more about your body. The part about not having heartburn any more really rang true with me. I really, truly believe that a lot of our health problems would vanish if we ate right and lost the excess weight. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!! And congrats on that upcoming anniversary.

DEB---TEN DOLLARS for a tv????? That has to be a worl'd record or something!! You are the yard sale queen for sure!!! And that may be the jewel in your crown!! Glad to hear you are getting so much postivite response to the round robin idea. It will be fun. I guess we'll have to start really early if everybody is going to talk 20 minutes. Does it work like that ? We all will talk on the same day? Just wondering.

Well gals, Miss M has been in most of the day by herself and she needs some play time. So I'm going to go and be a good mom! (I already scrambled her an egg. Am I feeling guilty or what???)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Take care.

Looks like the board was kind of quiet today so I was able to read all the posts! :D

SEF, You're right, we're not too far away from each other. I live about 30 min south of I-10 & Lafayette. About 90 min from Baton Rouge. If you're ever coming this direction or me in your direction, we need to meet! I did wave to you from I-12 when we went thru on our way to FL, but I guess you didn't see me.

Debbie You have the best luck at garage sales! That was a good buy for that TV. The one we have in our front room now & for the past year or 2 came from the side of the road! DH is a TV tech & one day our pastor called & said his neighbor had put this 32" TV in the trash so he asked him what was wrong with it. He said he didn't know, it had just quit working & they went buy another one, so DH & he picked it up & brought it home. DH fixed it for $4.50  Best buy we ever made!

Yes, I do like Middle Eastern foods. I always like to try new things & find that I like most things, so I'm alsways trying new recipes. Looking forward to hearing more about the Round-Robin calls! And yes, I also am critical of what I see in the mirror. That drives me even more to make things better. My mother is obese, so are 2 of my sisters & one of my daughters. I never really saw myself as obese, but sure was getting there. I see my other 2 daughters getting there if they are not careful. It's not healthy & that is my main focus these days is my health.

Adams_rib WELCOME! Sounds like you're off to a really good start. Way to go! This is a great place to find support. Stick around & you'll find many helpful friends here. Looking forward to getting to know you.

LAMAP,Did you sleep enough today? hehehe Sounds like you needed the rest. Now wake up!!

QUILTER/Kim, Sounds like you've had a busy day today & I'm sure Miss M appreciated your special attention. You're really getting to work on that TM aren't you? I'm afraid I've been slacking on the exercises lately. I need to get back in the routine.

Well everyone, I hope that you all have a BLESSED Sunday! I'll be doing another 12 hr shift. Will check in tomorrow night.

Hi everyone :)

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I at last got outside to do a bit of gardening this morning. Had lots of weeding to do and generally cleaning up. I was tired and stiff when I had finished and went back to bed and snoozed for about an hour. This evening I went out with my daughter and a friend for supper. Stayed op, had grilled trout and cajun rice and salad. They served corn bread with the meal which I passed on to my dd. The scale was good to me this morning - I am down 2 pounds since my return from vacation. Six more to go till I get back to where I was before vacation.

Kim - It sounds like you are getting a good workout on the TM. I was thinking of doing one of my videos this morning but thought I should get out to the garden first. After that I was too pooped for any more exercise!

Adams Rib - Welcome to Sugar Busters. Sounds like you have made a good start.

Laurie - Hope you are feeling good after the sleep-in . Sometimes we really need to have that extra sleep.

Deb - That was a good bargain you got to-day with the TV. I laughed over your comments about the haggis and the spotted dick. I was surprised you still remembered it. I've really got no idea where it got it's name from.

Catlover - Glad to her that MIL's surgery went well. Looking at your menu, you seem to be having enough protein but I think you need to add some more veggies. This would also give you more fibre.

BOB - No I didn't get to Ireland but I did get into Scotland and Wales. We stayed one night in Scotland and had a short trip into North Wales on the way home. It is very beautiful country. I like your idea of CAMPING. Holiday Inn would suit me just fine.

Melf - Yes, it was a busy holiday but an enjoyable one. I am so glad to have some time off before going back to work. I don't have to go in until Tuesday afternoon although I had a phone call the day after I returned asking me to work the next day, which I declined.

Sef - I can just imagine what you must have felt like after working the day after returning from OZ. That's such a long journey and such a huge time difference. I seem to have more trouble getting adjusted when I return than I do when I get to my destination.

Fillise - Thanks for sharing your reflections on the time you have been on SB. It's so true that it is the little things that we can now do that we couldn't do before that means so much to us.

Have a good Sunday everyone

Marie.

Here I am, back again! Just like a bad penny, I always turn up. I need to get a life. Sort of lazy day, marinated the meat for tomorrow, finished sampler, read paper, played games and checked and rechecked Board. Oh, also watched Miss
Congeniality and What Women Want. Last night I watched Damn Yankees, I do like old movies.

Fillise -Don't you worry. That 244 will soon be a memory as you go down to better things! Your remarks about how you have changed since starting SB! was very touching. I am so happy for you to have attained this confidence and better health, mentally and physically.

Know what you mean about crossing legs. I realized the other week that I could do it and was thrilled. Kept wanting to do it over and over just to prove I could to myself.

Deb - You are a garages sale maven! Just had a pear!?! What about the lectures on not eating enougn? Is this a case of "Do as I say, not as I Do?" Tsk, Tsk. Hope you ate more than that!

I have made maps of NJ, PA, HI, MD. This one is on spec for consignment shop. My friend in TX wants one of her new state. I had already made her her home state, NJ. Ds lived in HI. Have also made UK for my English pen pal.

lamap - What a slug-a-bed! My grandmother would have said you must have needed it or you won't have been able to sleep like that!

I do counted cross stitch. I sold some in a consigment shop when I lived in PA. I talked to a couple of shops (well not the shops, but the owners!) and no one is really doing that kind of work here. So thought I would give it a go. I have some things ready for framing, but want to get a couple of more done. I usually make wedding samplers as gifts, as well as baby announcement samplers. But there are only so many times you can give someone some of my handiwork, so if I can sell it I will be doing something I enjoy and be productive at the same time! You never get paid what they are worth, they take hours and hours to do, but it keeps me out of trouble if I'm stitching!

My watch used to pinch and leave ridges in my wrist. Now it doesn't pinch, the ridge marks from the links are gone, but it still makes an indent.

Adams - Welcome!!! You will find lots of support and knowledge here. No one thinks there is a dumb question. It is fairly easy to get around board. I'm computer illiterate and I'm here! You really have a could start with your loss!

Quilter - Hey! Remember all work and no play.......................! Maybe it wasn't work, but when it seems like to much for you, it becomes work.

Melf - Nope, didn't catch your wave! Maybe sometime we could do a "halfway in the middle" meet! Maybe Starchaser could come in from Baton Rouge!

Obese! A word I never liked, probably because deep down I know it is me! My ds is not obese, but heavy. Mother and Grandmother were healthily built women, not heavy....in those days it was plump.

Wel, take care all. I promise this is the last time today I will be here. Time is 11:55p here!!!!! Lol

Night, sef

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

Just got in from my walk and sitting here in a towel sweating bullets at the moment. Felt good to be out there today since I didn't walk yesterday. Had my second best time of 53:27 for doing 4.5 miles with 18 jogs. So now I sit here, ready to type away, drink some much-needed water and cool down.

Eli is off today. He's going to church while I try to tidy up a bit (more like sit my butt in front of the computer, I know myself all too well). Not sure what we will do when he gets home. I don't mind staying home with him and not doing anything special-I enjoy just being with him. It will be 8 years that we're together and I still enjoy being around him! We have a ton of eggplant we have to cook, so I know he's going to be doing some heavy KP duty this evening. Kids are going with their Dad today, so they won't be home.

Tomorrow afternoon the kids are off on a cruise with their Father-they won't be home til Saturday morning:spin: Eli and I are trying to figure out were to go on a day trip here in Fl-we'd love to spend the night somewhere, but everything is too expensive this time of year down here. I like going up to the Orlando area, but then we thought maybe going somewhere different-things are up in the air! Just want to get away for the day. Won't mind going over to Marco Island for dinner:)

I found a few really delicious recipes yesterday and decided to make one that I knew I had all the ingredients in the house, it was for ALMOND GRANOLA BARDS There wasn't an ingredient that I could see that would hold the bars together, but I made them anyhow. I was right, no matter what I did, it didn't hold together. I think an eggwhite needs to be in there. Anyhow, I decided to bake it a little longer and use it as granola-WHAT A MISTAKE!!! The stuff is TO DIE FOR! It was unbelievablely delicious. I had 4.2 ounces (it made 10 ounces). It was afterwards when I started to add up the calories that my eyes almost bugged out of my head! I figured what I ate had 700 calories! That was such a big surprise, and I wanted to coil up and die. I was doing soooo good with my intake yesterday-I never thought it would contain so many calories, much less the fat, carbs, etc. If you stop at 2 ounces, it's not so bad. I can probably bring down the calories and fats easily and still have it turn out delicious, but it's something I'd only make once in a blue moon-it's addicting. I found another recipe I may try to make this morning-PEANUT BUTER OAT BRAN MUFFINS. Doesn't look like a sweet muffin since the original recipe calls for only 1 TBL of sugar. Will let you know if I make them and if so, if they come out decent.

SNOOKS, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Hope you have a great birthday today, and that the sun is shining on you today in the UK:)

LAMAP, sounds like you really needed some sleep, you body was definitely telling you something. Eli gets like that when he hasn't had enough sleep, which is all the time. Glad you too like the phone idea-will try to get the details ironed out by the end of this coming week. If you ever get to Miami on a weekend, I'll take you to some garage sales and show you the ropes:) Did you find a watch?? Make sure whatever you buy has links, as you go down, and it gets bigger, at least you can take out the links-rather than a bracelet style one that will just be way to big on you and no way to adjust it. Buy yourself something REALLY nice-you deserve it!!!

ADAMSRIB, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! We're glad you've joined us-another Canadian on the board! You really have done well the first week of following SB-congratulations! I'm sure you will find the support and friendship on this board that will help you achieve your goals. Please let us know if there are any questions you may have-we're always eager to help! Again, WELCOME!!!

QUILTER, hope your booked weekend has kept you having fun! WOW, almost an hour on the TM-that's great! Do you listen to music, read, or watch the boob-tube while doing it? I think the round robin would be good over a weeks time. We'll have to do some collective brainstorming to get down the details-I'd like to start it for next month and get ideas and the word out this week-any ideas you have, throw them at me!!!

MELF, I may be the queen of the G sales, but you can take the crown on the deal on the TV! We are such a throw-away society these days, people throw away things that may just need a minor repair-or sometimes as my Father has found, they just throw perfectly good things away-I couldn't begin to even try to list what he's found when he's walked in the mornings! My poor Mother doesn't know what he'll drag home next, it's funny and sad at the same time! Hmmm, maybe I should save the broken tv for your hubby??? LOL! Just joking-hope someone will pick it up when I have my garage sale for $10 and decide to try and fix it, that will pay for the new one!! Now, I just have to get a remote for it, and it will be great! If there's EVER a particular ME recipe you'd like to try, let me know. I have about 15 Lebanese/ME cookbooks. The best one (which is falling apart) is called A TASTE OF LEBANON, if you can find a used copy, buy it-very easy and simple recipes. I can relate to the family and overweight-esp with your daughter-Lauren in only 13 1/2yrs old and she's following in my footsteps. I'm worried that before she turns around, she'll hit 200lbs-which may not be long off, esp. after going on this cruise where there is so much food, food, food. Though, unlike you, I've always seen myself obsese, and unfortuntaley, I still relate too much to that feeling. Something to work on, I guess!

ROSALIE, congrats on getting down another 2lbs. You'll get back down to where you were quickly I believe, now that you are back OP and your body is back to it's familiar surrounings and foods. Oh Marie, once you mentioned that Spotted Dick, it stayed in my mind-don't try asking me what I had for breakfast last Monday-but ask me about this, and I'll remember! LOL!

SEF, hmmm, Just like a bad penny, I always turn up. I thought of your comment, and think of you as a GOOD LUCK PENNY Heads up is good luck! :) Lauren also watched Miss Cong. last night at her friends house, along with Save The Last Dance (both she saw before). I really liked Save The Last Dance too. I'm ordering a old movie that I remember really liking called BIRDY. One of my favorite movies is one the whole family can see called WILD HEARTS CAN'T BE BROKEN-based on true life. It's a ritual at Lauren's b.day parties for the girls to watch that movie. Oh, the pear, that was the first thing I ate all morning, but I sure made up for it the rest of the day! I usually try to eat something before going to the garage sales, but didn't have much time yesterday. Trust me, I went WAAYYYY over what I should of eaten for the day yesterday!!! BUT, yes, for me to tell others what to do then it is for me to follow what I say!;) Good luck with selling your samplers, they sound wonderful. Do you design them yourself, or buy a already made design?

Okay, well, I'm all cooled down now and want to jump in the shower before I start fermenting. Please remember, TOMORROW STARTS THE NEW WEEKLY BOARD and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any great words of wisdom you'd like to share with the board, please have them ready for tomorrow!

Have a great Sunday!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Well I am holding at 267. It has cooled down some and is not so muggy. Maybe I'll lose the rest of the fluid i'm retaining. I really need to get in more exercise. I noticed that the Apartment complex here that I live in has aerobics Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I have been thinking about checking it out to see how many skinny minis are in there and maybe give it a try.

I also wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to SNOOKS!!

Kim: It sounds like you are doing terrific on that TM. I don't know if I could even do 10 minutes. I have been thinking about getting one for my bedroom though. I used to have one in Michigan but sold it when I moved down here.

Deb: I went to this place yesterday called "Panera Bread". Just wanted to see what it was. Well, it's a small cafe and bakery. They make all kinds of specialty breads. They had this Sourdough Asiago Cheese bagette. Well, it looked so good so I got one. I ate half of it last night. BAD, BAD, BAD!!! Don't think I'll be going there again anytime soon. So, don't feel too bad about having too much of that yummy granola you made. Also, Great luck with your TV. My son found a 32" Sony TV beside the dumpster and decided to take it in to see what was wrong with it. The remote control was broken. Can you believe that someone would throw a TV away because the remote was broken. Now that is a COUCH POTATO. He bought a new remote for $20 from Circuit City. Now he has a great TV with a working remote
.
Laurie: It sounds like you really needed the sleep. Your body tends to let you know in not so subtle ways when you have been working too hard and not getting enough sleep. Don't feel bad about sleeping in. Sometimes we've just gotta do that to recoup.

Adams Rib: Welcome to the SB Board. You will like it here. So much inspiration and support.

Well, getting ready to go check out what's at the Super Walmart.

Have a great day!

Hi awesome chickees!

http://shapeshakers.com/pics/asuka04.gif

Deb, thanks for the email. I actually had my windows open to sort-of catch up last night, but between watching boxing (an awesome knockout by the baby-faced assassin), doing laundry and a late-night bike ride I was quite exhausted by the time I got to bed at 2 am. Argh.

To answer your long ago question, I am borrowing my dad’s Sony Cybershot but I don’t think the quality is supposed to be THAT bad. I’m still trying to figure out how to use it!

I would, for one, love to see some new pics of you and seriously DOUBT you look emaciated. You looked very healthy and pretty in the other pics I saw.

SolShine, hello my friend. Thanks for the email too, it’s way cool of you to let me know what’s happening. I saw Oh Brother Where Art Thou in the theater and it was very weird. But worth seeing. My boss thought it was one of the most hilarious movies she’d EVER seen. I am still trying to get over my shattered image of George Clooney!

I really admire you and your husband for getting and staying out of debt, it is NOT so easy, even for a baby-financial-planner like me!

As for my parents, they ARE pretty awesome and it took me a long time to realize that. I was just having a conversation with my DC friend yesterday about how awful my relationship with my parents used to be and how much I’ve changed in the past few years...attitude makes a big difference.

I’m so relieved that your weight is starting to go down. Whooohoooo! I guess fitday.com did wonders for you, and yes, you CAN stop losing weight by eating too little!

It was so interesting to hear about what a live WWF show is really like. I don’t know anything about wrestling, but as I’ve mentioned, I’ve been watching a lot of boxing lately (2 whole shows this weekend!).

Nancy, LOL! I’m sure you’re NOT the only one who “blows it” as I’ve heard lots of very brave stories on this board and certainly know what it’s like to slip myself, as my weight has been fluctuating for the past YEAR. I have been incorporating small amounts of certain foods to see if I can do it without wigging out (more below), although I don’t eat cake, cookies and such, and there is ONE thing I won’t touch, even the flavor, and that is chocolate. (Hmm I did have one chocolate Velamint once back in March.)

Mary, welcome back and congrats to you on maintaining your weight. What was your starting weight again?

Thank you so much for posting the pics! Solshine, Mary & Gatorgal you are all beautiful. I’m SOOO jealous of you getting to meet! ;)

Kim, I guess one day I’m going to have to break down and try this famous “fitday.com” thing! Although I’m frightened to see how badly I’m really doing!

GatorGal, thanks. Chris is a redhead now. :) Actually, the hair started off pure flaming red but faded quickly and now is a sort of light auburn brown on top.

Frogster, I like your idea about the collage. Good luck with the 2002 Marathon. I have decided not to run the Marathon this year (December) because I need to concentrate on meeting my goals on a daily basis instead of just one big event...I would love to be able to get back up to 5 miles a day. (Right now it is more 2 than 3.) But I really admire you...way to go girl!

Sef, yes I have learned about cooking separately! And an omelet is a great quick supper.

LOL about your slacks. My boss looked at me once some months back and said, “looks like you’re losing weight ‘cause your clothes are getting longer.” Yep I had/have a lot of belly to overcome! I was so thrilled when my roomie (lying or not) said, “I would say you have more of a tummy than a belly.” Although it was several months until I could believe it!

UFgirl, that’s great that your family exercises religiously, but your own routine won’t work unless you’re doing it to make YOURSELF feel (and look) better! Good luck!

Glory, thanks for the compliment and 100 pounds off is AMAZING....I’m glad you’re inspiring others with your success as well.

Lara, I hope things get better for you and it was great to hear from you. Also glad to hear that the weight is going down, I think we are at the same place again (155).

StarChaser, GOODBYE to the 300’s!!! Yipeee!

Marie, stick with the program! Those 8 pounds don’t HAVE to bring their friends home to have a party on your ___!!!!!!

Adams rib (what a NAME!!!) Welcome to the board! You will find many who have made spectacular progress, and you will too.

:) :) :)

I had to cut the responses a bit short because it’s been an hour and a half already, but I read almost everything. It’s great catching up with you gals on the weekends although I don’t have time to post during the week.

Last week was my PMS week and it was MUCH harder than the past few months. I was so hungry I thought I was going to die. However, I stayed away from my usual cereal and whole-milk mini binges, and only gained back 2 pounds instead of the usual 4. I was eating a lot though, and got dirty looks from my roomie for having plain yogurt and frozen strawberries after supper one night. I’m still really hungry...this morning I had a big (1 ¼ cup I think) bowl of cream of wheat with wheat bran, almonds and splenda, a small piece of pork chop I saved from dinner last night, and a cup of light (sugarfree flavored) yogurt. And I’m STILL starving. So I told myself, “Self, hon, just because you’re still hungry doesn’t necessarily mean you have to keep eating. You aren’t a machine. You have a choice.” And that seemed to work at least for a moment.

I have been very moderate on the exercise, which means about 2 days a week. Last run I actually did my full 3 miles but I had to walk part of the way, finishing up at a not-so-impressive 35 minutes.

This seems like very big news...to me, lol. Last week I had an ICE CREAM CONE. My first real ice cream since December. And I don’t feel bad about it!

This was Wednesday. I was having a really truly bad day, for reasons I won't mention, and I was the one who said that it was the kind of night to go out and get ice cream. So later on, as the day was getting worse and worse, Martin offered to take me to Bubbies (this upscale overpriced hole in the wall joint) for ice cream. And I said, I don't think a little would hurt me. It was kind of an experiment. To see if I could handle it.

So I got a single scoop in a sugar cone, which I consider a normal size serving. Martin got a double scoop in a sugar cone (mine was strawberry cheesecake and his was the same and banana royale) which dripped all over! It was the most heavenly taste ever (of course) and over very quickly. I kinda expected that I would instantly binge. Earlier I'd eaten nothing but an omelet. I was pretty hungry, and resisted the temptation to ask for another bite (to "taste" the banana royale...but I told myself, I let all the other flavors go, I don't need it) and didn't eat anything the rest of the night.

So I would say it was a sucess. I ate ONE normal serving of a high-quality favorite food and survived to tell about it. A very different experience from giving in and eating moldy cookies because they are there (I was tempted to do that at work the other day, and knew I would eventually eat them, so finally I threw them away!!!!).

And....all my talk about sugar free ice cream (that I make) being just as good as the premium stuff....HAHAHAHA!!!!

My lil forum is doing quite well. We have actually had more posts than here during the month of June so that’s pretty darn high-traffic. Here are a few rambling threads that I did this past week.

This one talks about clothes:

http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55342

This one talks about eating to fill the “empty spaces” in my life:

http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54592

I am STILL doing laundry. I’ve lost count of how many loads I’ve done. This is the bad part of being a compulsive shopper!!!! Yesterday I satisfied my “urges” by going to Goodwill instead of some expensive store. Again. They were having a $.99 sale. So I got fourteen items...4 cute skirts, 9 shirts for me and 1 t-shirt for Martin, for $14!!! You can’t beat that!

Then, I actually broke down and went through my shirts and took down the ones I don’t wear to give back to Goodwill. (I was running out of hangers.) Including some shirts that are too short (I was tripping when I bought them) or that I just don’t feel pretty in. I also reorganized the rest of the closet (I’m a bit compulsive about the order of my closet too).

Somebody was talking about clothes that are too big. I don’t keep ANY clothes in the house that are too big to wear, although I have some that are baggy. Getting rid of the fat clothes was a HUGE step in my recovery, because I had clothes in sizes ranging from 7 to (expletive) and my life was quite schizo.

I also got rid of all the clothes that are more than 2 sizes too small. So right now I have only two sizes of clothes. The ones that FIT (10 – 12) and the ones that are somewhat small ( 8 –10). The ones that are small, I keep in a special suitcase that I go through every once in a while. But I DO NOT keep them on the hangers. Everything on the hangers or in my dresser are clothes that I like and that fit.

Well, I gotta go. I had to work yesterday, so thank god for Sunday!!!!!

Lotsa love,

Chris

Good Sunday afternoon all.
Just got through doing 30 minutes of weight training. I cut it short as I just couldnt do anymore. Talk about being out of shape after only missing 2 weeks of exercise. Ive got to get the motivation back into my head.

Quilter- how do you manage an hour on the tm? Im usually good for about 30 minutes. I am constantly counting down the minutes. I watch tv to take my mind off it but it doesnt always work.

Sef - I do alot of cross-stitching for gifts to friends and relatives. Where do you find the patterns for the states?

Adams - welcome to the board.

Snooks - Happy Birthday!!!!!!

Fillise - thanks for the insight on your feelings of losing weight. I have always used my weight as an excuse for alot of things. I never wanted to go out to eat with my dh cause I was to fat, stayed away from alot of social situations also.

Rosalie - Im a gardner also. I take delight in mowing the yard and tending to my plants. Although it has been to hot lately and too many mosquitoes to get out in the yard. My back-yard is just covered with weeds. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and just "do it".

Deb - pretty good on the garage saleing. My mil is pretty good at it also. Her big thing is jewelry. I need to go with her sometime and see her in action. Poor dear has to spend another couple of days in hospital. It seems the wire came out of her pacemaker on Friday and cant be fixed til Monday. She is so ready to come home.

Sparkle - I am really impressed with your site. I read your story and am amazed at how far you have come. You seem to be getting it all together. Another inspiration for me.

Well Ive gone on long enough. Have to go get something to eat for supper. I made a big pot of black beans and some brown rice. add a big green salad and I should be doing allright. Except for tomorrow when the gas emissions start LOL!!!!

Good Evening Girls!

Back from camping. Had a good time, despite it being freezing at night. The stars were incredible!!!! We had fun and went on a good hike. Did well staying on plan. Had a few illegal things, but I could tell from my jeans that I did just fine!

Just browsed over everyone's post, trying to catch up on all the going ons!

I went to a car dealership and am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get financed on a new Ford Explorer Sport. Going camping with the Dodge Neon just doesn't work! We'll see what happens. If the cars gods want it to be...I will find out tomorrow when the banks are open for financing. I can't believe the price of most SUV's. HOLY SMOKES!!!!! $30k plus! Forsd has some excellent financing going on, so hope it can happen.

I took my Sugar Busters cookbook up to the mountains and read when I had quiet time. It was good for me to get by brain re-freshed. Seem to read alot more things that I hope will stick in my head and help me keep on track!

Well, I need to get some chores done...oh the joy! Missed you gals!

Evening All!

Been banned from the kitchen-AGAIN! Eli is making the roasted eggplant dish-I bought sooo many eggplants and other veggies that if we don't use them now, they'll rot and be thrown away.

We went to lunch at (were else) Ole Ole and then Carbolite for dessert-coconut again, I was happy! Went to a few stores, didn't buy anything though-just a quiet day out.

Kids are getting ready for their trip tomorrow. I'll be taking them to the Port of Miami to the cruise ships.

I don't think the granola I made was as bad as I thought it was. Each site I seem to go on has a different nutritional value for oats, so I'm still deciphering my information-but still, I won't make it all too often.

CHERI, that would be great if you could get into those aerobic classes at your complex. You know, I use to care how I would look with the other people at the gym, but honestly, not anymore-take the attitude that you are there for the same purpose as they are, to exercise-not a contest who looks the best. Go ahead and sign up-I'm sure you'll have a great time and in the process, get some great exercising in!!! That's unbelievable about your son's new-found TV-amazing isn't it!

SPARKLE, glad to see your post on the board :) Sounds like you've been busy, as usual. I had to LOL when you started talking about going to Bubbies-at first I thought Martin was Jewish, until I read on to see it was an ice cream joint!LOL!! You got some great buys at Goodwill, I never see them do 99 cent sales, but then again, I'm not there often enough to know. I'll get some pictures posted, hopefully soon.

CATLOVER, sounds like you had an intense workout! Hope this little wire gets fixed for you MIL, and soon-I'm sure not only does she want to get home, but missing garage sales is probably stressing her out some as well. I've gotten some great jewelry as well, my best was a 14k gold 0-ring bracelet, pretty darn heavy too-$1.00! Trust me, I didn't stay to haggle with the lady about the price!!!

NANCE, glad to see you back safe and sound. FREEZING??? I would give anything to of been there! I missed our usual chats. Hope to see you on line sometime tomorrow.

Okay, the dinner bell is about to ring. I hate eating this late, but now that he's made it, I've got to eat it. Portion control!!!!

See you all tomorrow morning on the new board!!!

Deb - I was only teasing you about the do as I say thing! I'll have to watch my fingers, don't want to type and hurt feelings. I just have a weird sense of humor!

I design some of my own things and use charts. For maps I use charts and then peronalize them by putting in places that have meaning for the person I'm making it for. Ones that I have done for consignment, just have some of the more well known landmarks and towns on them. They also have products that state is known for such as corn, wheat or whatever.

Sparkle - How great you were able to control the demon ice cream! I don't think I could. I have behaved myself with the sugar free. You sound like my daughter, she a real nudge about her closet. Things have to hand a certain way and in a
certain order!

catlover - I have found designs in your privately owned stores, not Micheals or Joanns or AC Moore type. Charts are about 2.00. There is also a web site, but I have not bought any there altho it is for maker of charts I have. www.suehillsdesigns.com. I have always been chicken about buying on line so have never done it. A little paranoid about my credit card I guess.

It must be raining somewhere in the USA, as I have had a very achy day! Did not do a heck of a lot, even slept too late to make church. I am a baaaaaaaad girl!

I'll probably check back later to see if anyone is stirring about.

Just a quick note to say goodnight.

DH is on his way to Dallas tonight and I am LONELY! It has been a while since he has been gone for a week! Even my dog is droopy tonight. :(

I am happy to report that I had (finally) exercise time/mileage to report.

I am on the phone with my sister so I am unable to respond to all of you. I can multi-task, but I'm not that good. :)

Hope to see you all on the board next week!

Peace,

Frog
