Good morning,
We needed to start again so there wouldn't be so many pages.
Hopefully everyone had a good weekend. We went to Galveston Island for yesterday. It was fun. We ate at a cafeteria and had healthy food. :( Fried fish would've been more fun. We were good. :)

There's another tropical storm going towards Florida and then into the Gulf. I pray we don't get it.

If you are new to our threads, please come on in and visit and become one of us.

Hi, I just joined WW Th, can I come chat with you all? I am 36, mom of 3 boys (4 if you include hubby). I am a florist by trade but currently just crafting. I live in the suburbs of Reno NV. Um, I have 60 pounds to loose minimum, but we will just concentrate on 10% at a time.

Tina

Hi flower,
It's nice to meet you. Of course, you can chat here. You'll find all kinds of support.
I'll introduce myself to you......I'm 50ish with a remarkable husband and a grown son.
I live in Houston, TX. We are hoping not to get hit by the next tropical/turn hurricane. Houston is overwhelmed with evacuees from Katrina. I don't want to go through what they have just done.

We also have a Thursday Weigh-in thread and a Photo thread.
come here often.

I guess I should add that I am married to my high school sweetheart, and I have 3 children, a 10 year old boy, an 8 year old girl, and a 18 month old girl. I'm a homeschooler, and my husband works chronic overtime *wink*

Tammy, I want a Dachsund! I want a mini one with long smooth hair. Dream doggie.

I though counting points would be harder than this. It is almost like a game, what can I get for this many points. I do need to find more individual sources of lean protein for lunches.

I have been walking daily. I can really feel the difference already. And my bloating is gone! Now I just got to keep it up so the pounds can leave me!

Hi all,
Well, the hurricane might hit us. Booo.....
Larry has to stay at work during the mess. I don't like the thought of being alone. So, my best friend has invited me and Smokey to come up to her house. They have 6 cats!!!! Smokey will stay in our bedroom.
(I guess I should add, for the new people, that Smokey is our 16 year old cat.)

Tammy, what happened at the board meeting last night? Have they decided anything about you?

Welcome to our group, Flower!!!! I live in North Texas about 30 miles north of Dallas.

Life has been hectic here. My wonderful Daddy had a mild stroke yesterday morning. He is in the hospital and is getting better each day. Tonight my sister callled and said "he looks like himself" They live in San Antonio, I'm flying down on Friday. I just need to see him for myself and hug him. He is my world!!!!!!!! I'll keep you posted.

Plate is running over, and I can't take anything else. I'm not hungry lately and I'm not even interested in eating. Now isn't that something... wonderful if I can lose 60 pounds in a week???? ;)

Tammy, I'm anxious to hear what the board says..

Tina, now about that storm.... you are always welcome here.

Mimi, how are you doing my friend?

Erin, you are always so busy!!! You amaze me!

The hurricane is getting closer!

Susan and Amy - you know y'all are in my prayers. I'm so glad your dad is doing better.
Susan, if you weren't so far away and your dad wasn't sick, Smokey and I would be right there.
I really, really don't want to leave town.
Maybe Rita will decide to hit Mexico? I can wish. :dizzy:

Everyone take care.

Yesterday the supt. called and said he wanted to have a meeting with me today at 10:30. I told him that I had to contact my lawyer first. He acted shocked when I said that. Anyway, the lawyer told me to go ahead and meet with him, but I'm definitely taking union people with me. I'll know more later today. I do know they had a similar situation with a bus driver last year who was off for 5 days with pay. This is my 6th day, so this is getting ridiculous. The bus driver had been in trouble before and after that incident last year, and she still has a job.

From what I've heard from other teachers, the kids are getting pretty wild with the sub. I'll have to completely start over with them on the behavior stuff. What a pain.

Oh, the father of the boy has been calling the school board members in support of me!
It is even in writing that the parents are supportive of me. Think the supt. is out to get me?

Tammy, sounds like you need a {{{{{hug}}}}. Susan, hope your dad makes a full and quick recovery. I feel so bd for you all in the hurricane path. Stay safe.

I ate out last night at the mall food court and I was sooooo good! Steamed veggies and mandarin chicken and a bit of a steak and pepper stirfry but I didn't like that. I don't eat stuff I don't love anymore. I can do this! I will have to admit the sesame chicken was tempting as was the pizza slices, but cheese hates me anyways and I decided I better stick to stuff I know likes me and is good for me. Small victories! Oh, and hubby got me a sample chocolate at See's and I broke it open and smelt maple, I hate maple, that was easy to pass on. lol

I have walked every day this week, I love fall!

good morning

Tina, Susan & anyone else in Texas, I hope you're not in the path of Rita! Boy, you're getting a pounding. I'll be thinking of you all.

Geoff & I went to visit our oldest(Lee) & youngest(James) sons over the weekend. They both live in Calgary, Ab which is a little over 3 hour drive. We took greyhound. It was nice. The oldest and his wife bought a condo last year & James just moved down there so it was nice to see that he's not living on the street.

Nice fall weather here, it would have been nice to have some kind of summer though.

Hope you're all well

Thank you Mimi,
I really am not looking forward to this. If Larry didn't have to work, the 3 of us (counting the cat) would be long gone, up to northern TX.
I've decided to stay at my sister's, on the west side of town . Her area never floods.
We will have our mother with us. With her demetia, it will be a challenge.
Please pray for us.
I'll let y'all know how things go, when I can.

Flower, good for you at the food court!!

Maureen, nice that you could visit with your sons. I took a trip on greyhound years ago, and it was so much fun!

I agree about Rita! You guys in Texas take care.

Had my meeting this morning. Less than 10 minutes. I have no idea why we met. The supt. wants to meet again tomorrow. Tomorrow is my 7th day off of work. I'm getting paid, but it's ridiculous! After tomorrow I have 285 days until retirement. But who's counting, right??? lol

Tina
09-22-2005, 10:17 AM
Morning all,
Here I sit waiting for Rita to come. Wheeee!
I've got to get things packed in the car so I can leave this afternoon.
Last night Larry and David boarded up the back of the house. We have beautiful French doors that I'd hate to see destroyed.
Now there's a chance that the hurricane might come in a little to our east. That would be wonderful for us! We wouldn't get as strong a winds---still strong, of course. Aren't you northerners sorry you're not experiencing this! ha..ha..

Sis, how is your daughter doing? Did you get to that nutritionist?
Tammy, just sit back and count down those 285 days.
Susan, please be careful going to San Antonio. There will be lots of traffic in that city. I've heard that all the hotels/motels are already full....so lots of people.

Everyone I haven't mentioned yet----please take care and think about me.

Great news. I go back to school tomorrow. I will have a letter of reprimand put into my file, but I can live with that. Thanks to all of you for your support!!!!

Tina

Tammy,
That is wonderful news. I think that lawyer scared them.

Tammy
09-22-2005, 10:13 PM
LOL I think you are right Tina!!
I had a mother call me this afternoon to tell me that a group of parents met and were going to go in to support me. I love it!!! I've had quite a few of these kids before, so I know most of the parents pretty well. It's nice to be loved!

Tim just pulled in the drive. He's been at work. His allergies are going crazy. They were combining a field on the other side of our neighbor's house today. The dust is awful.

Hi all,
Tina, please stay safe. As time goes by it looks like ya'll are going to get less and less of the storm. Our prayers are with you!

San Antonio is now out of the path of Rita. But the town is crazy and the gracery stores and gas stations look like a war zone. Now we only have a 30% chance of rain tomorrow and on light winds.

Welcome to all the new comers! I am Amy, a 30 something, mother of 3 1/2 (the 1/2 is my husband who thinks he is a kid). The reason to "Little Sis" is that I am Susan's (Auntie) little sister.

Tina
09-23-2005, 03:04 PM
I haven't blown away yet.
Amy is right that it doesn't look like we're going to get the worst of the hurricane. Of course, it can move at any time. :( We should start getting rain at any time now. The worst of it should get here in 9 more hours.

Would y'all believe -- I've lost another pound!!! I've been too busy and stressed to eat much. I don't recommend it, though.

I'll write more later if the power is still on. (I'm using my bil's laptop.)

Hi,

Well, I didn't go to San Antonio after all. Mom called and requested that I stay because of the hurricane. I was pretty disapointed because I really want to see my daddy and of course my mom (and everyone else)

Tina, I sure hope are alright. You know my door is ALWAYS open to you and your family. Please let me know if you need anything. It's looking like Rita is going to turn but you never know. Just be safe & tell Larry to do the same.

Tammy, I'm glad you got to go back to work. It's about time. A letter of reprimand.... I know the lawyer scared them off plus think of the heat they would take if they did anything else!!!

Thank you all for all of your prayers and concern for our Daddy. He is doing real well. We just hate to see them getting older.

Tammy
09-24-2005, 10:21 AM
Tina, that's great about losing another pound!
How are things in Texas? I haven't even had the TV on this morning to see what's happening.

There were so many parents who came up to me at the football game last night. They were thrilled that I was back in the classroom. Found out that quite a few of them had been calling school board members, the supt., and the principal. That included the parents of the little boy involved in the incident. Made me feel pretty good.

Susan, I can understand you wanting to be with your parents right now, but I honestly think they are right with the hurricane and everything. Take care!!

Band contest this afternoon. Hoping the rain holds off. Of course, last year the band qualified for the state marching band contest when they performed in the pouring down rain!!!

Tina
09-24-2005, 03:55 PM
I'm Okay!
Thank you to everyone who was concerned about me and prayed. Houston was spared most of the wrath of Rita.
Out here at my sister's, we got less wind and rain than the rest of the city. Larry called our neighbor, who stayed put, and he said we still have power and water and only small branches down. We're relieved.

I am going to stay put here today. I really don't want to go home until Larry can. Since he's part of IT, he's needed to take care of Output Management (whatever that entails). Over 700,000 homes/people are without power in this area.
One of the biggest problems for our city is NO GAS. The govt is trying to get some down here. No one is supposed to come home because if they run out of gas, that's it.
I know this is a long post so bear with me.
Everyone stay safe and OP .

Tina; I am so glad that you are safe. I know we all have been mega stressed out this week thinking about that nasty RITA.
Tammy; I think I somehow missed the school excitment, but I am happy that things seem to have settled down for you too. Its good to know that you have the support of your kid's parents.
Susan; I can understand your Mom not wanting you to travel. Pretty much all we saw up here was the giant traffic jams, not to mention the gas shortage.
Some local gas station owners tried to do a little wishful speculating, and posted $2.50 a litre for gas. (thats about $10 a gallon) that caused a little gas panic up here too, with a few fist fights and lots of long lines. What can you do!
I hope things will settle down now and we all will have a peaceful fall.
I am working this weekend but fitting a little computer time in while the kids play a video game.

Hi all. Finally getting a chance to check in. Tina and everyone else in TX I am so glad to hear you're ok!!! I've been watching the news and TX and LA really took a beating. I sure hope no more hurricanes decide to head your way!
Tammy, I am glad to hear you came out ok in that school craziness! Its wonderful that the parents were doing the right thing and standing by you. I agree that the lawyer thing probably scared the superintendant a bit. :) Now you can get on with things in your life.
Susan its wonderful to hear that your daddy is doing ok. Im sure it was so hard not to be able to go and be with them, but your mom was probably right. I hope you get to see them soon.
I hope everyone else is doing ok. I've had a bit of a rough week. We had to go and pic my sis up from the airport yesterday and a deer ran right into our car out of nowhere. Did a good bit of damage. The whole driver side from the headlight to the front of the backdoor was mushed in. Needless to say I will be without a car for a week or so while it gets fixed. But we got my sis ok and things will be fine. I only have to think of the people in TX and LA and our problems aren't so bad. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and take care all......Sis :D

HI Everyone,
All we got yesterday was wind and clouds. We thought it was going to rain but it never did. My brother who lives in East Texas said they had a lot of rain and were without power.

Tina, I'm so glad that RITA missed ya'll. I was so worried about you!!!! I know you are glad to be home.

Tammy, I think it's great about all of the support you got. The district would really be sorry if they did anything due to all of the support you got. Hopefully they will leave you alone now!!!!

Sis, thanks for you sweet message. It's so good to hear from you. I'm sorry about your car. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Mimi, and we think it's bad with $3 a gallon for gas!!!!

Sis, I've had 3 friends who have hit deer the past couple of years. They just come out of nowhere, don't they?

We have meetings all day tomorrow at school. Do you know how tempting it is to call in sick? Oh my. It's going to be so boring! Maybe I'll take a magazine to read. lol

Hi all,

Sis, that's horrible about the deer and your car. I'm just glad no one in the car was hurt. Does your insurance cover deer collision?

Flower, that's disgusting about your house deal falling through. Good for you, not giving in to eating. :)

Tammy, how is it back at school? Did you eat too much while you were off? I hope not.

Susan, how is your group of kids?
Erin, what's new with you?
Jan, I see you posting on the Goals thread. Come on over here.
Mimi and Maureen, are you having hot weather?

Amy, are there still lots of people in San Antonio from the hurricanes?

Tammy
09-27-2005, 09:44 PM
Flower, I've been through that with a house before. It is so frustrating! Hang in there!

Tina, I hardly ate at all while I was off. But did I lose weight?????????? NO!!!! Being back at school is nice. The kids were a bit off the wall on Friday when I went back, but today they were almost back to their best behavior. Only a few minor problems today. AND you wouldn't believe how much nicer their handwriting is since I'm back. Apparently they didn't think that I was going to see the papers they did while the sub was there!!! HA!!!

Tina, how are things in Houston?

Tina

Power Outtage! :( :( :(

Hi all,
We made it through the hurricane with only a blink in the power, for about 30 minutes. Last night, the transformer behind our house blew! It left 15 of us in the dark!!!! We took Smokey and went out for supper----hamburgers in the car. What an unhappy cat! Then, we went to David's apt. for 3 hours. (He's not suppsoed to have pets but no one knew it.) Then, we had to find a motel. With all the Katrina people and now the Rita people, you can imagine there were no rooms. Finally, we found a Motel 6 with one room. They'd just shampooed the carpet and it smelled. We put Smokey in the bathroom and slept in our clohtes until 5 a.m.
We came home, Larry dressed and went to work and I waited until 7:30 and took Smokey to the vet's to board him for the day. Our power is now back on. I'm going to have one mentally disturbed cat. :)

Other than all that----I've probably lost another pound. ;)

Hi ladies,
I've been trying to keep up on the reading. Sounds as if everyones lives are trying to get back to normal, after the couple of hiccups.

I've spent the last week trying to write a schedule for work and have come to the conclusion unlwss we get a few more bodies to fill the shifts I cannot finish it. I called the manager this mornign and they are working on it.

I have realized with all this stress that I rely on my Diet Coke as a stress reliever. I cannot figure out why? Hopefully life in my world will slow down soon. I need to find a middle ground.

hey everyone, i'm kate 34 mom of two, married for 13 years to a wonderful man that never says anything about my weight lol. i work online, and i started ww last week, tomorrow is my first weigh-in. and i'm totally excited about it :)

i'm blessed that this time around (i've actually lost count of how many diets i've been on in the past) i have a ton of support, my sister is doing it with me, and her best friend, has been doing it for a while and is down 40+ lbs is joining us too !

i didn't want to do the meetings and spend all that money, but i finally came to the conclusion that i just can't do it on my own. i do great for 2-5 weeks then it just fizzles out. so i'm hoping that standing on those scales in-front of a stranger is gonna make me accountable.

my lack of success, shows with how long i've been a member here :))

well i'm really pleased to be a member here, and have so many great role models to follow.

Tina, what a mess! You could have come to my house to stay, but it might have been a little out of your way. I also don't know how Smokey and Kramer would get along. lol

Flower, what type of shoes did you get? I bought a pair of New Balance when I went with the band to Disney World a couple years ago. I don't think I'll ever switch to anything else. That's all my son wears too. My husband wears Reebok.

Jan, it sounds like alot of us are having too much stress in our lives. Let's all just get together and go on vacation somewhere!!!

Welcome to the group Kate!!! This is a great group for support, not only with weight loss but with everything!!!

My weight isn't going down, but clothes are fitting a bit loose. Even my rings and watches are loose.

Well, I have oodles of papers to grade, so I need to get started before I decide to go to sleep instead!

Well life in SA is finally getting back to normal state. Whatever that might be. Gas prices this morning JUMPED $0.30/gallon over night. This morning my husband called me on the way to work and said to go fill up my Surburban before this one station changed there prices. So I did. I have a 28 gallon tank and it is a fortune to fill up.

Well after having a good WI yesterday I have a new found fire. Life has been crazy between the huricanes, my parents both being sick, and just trying to survive our 105 degree fall.

We has a cool front come in this morning and it is only suppose to get up to 88, I am so thankful.

We just had a shower that's supposed to usher in the cool front. I certainly hope it does. I can now understand what people are going through without power. It's such a helpless feeling.

Do not say or even think that something is wrong with framing your bookmark.
When my husband was losing weight, we put his ribbons w/stars on the dresser mirror. Looking at that framed bookmark will give you encouragement on "rough" days.

I did something marvelous today I bought myself a nice outfit, black velvet pants(stretchy) a gorgeous red knit top and a mauve flowered one, and a black silk camisole. I haven't bought myself anything dressy in about 20 years so that is something for me.Tomorrow I am on the lookout for a dressy pair of shoes.
The kids and I are going to see Beauty and the Beast in November and I figured I couldn't wear my stretchy walmart pants and tshirt to there. I need to get a new winter coat too. Whew!
It sounds like everything is quieting down for everyone. Its a weekend off for me tomorrow so I hope I will get on here a few times. Have a good weekend everyone.

We have a treadmill, an exercise bike, and not sure what the other thing is called! lol They do come in handy during the colder weather. I sometimes walk at school through the halls when no one is around.

Mimi, good for you for getting some new clothes for yourself! I have been several places recently, and I haven't been able to find anything that I really like. Last year I bought a new winter coat from Land's End. It is so comfortable, and I know it will last for years. I highly recommend them. They have sales at their website, and sometimes the deals are totally awesome.

Well, I think I'll go get some school work done so I won't have to think about it the rest of the weekend. Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi,
Mimi, your new clothes sound beautiful!
I'm sure you'll find some neat shoes.
Tammy, didn't you have one of those machines that does everything but lose weight for you?

Last week I went looking for a cami. I'm afraid my hips are still too big. Maybe I could just take a pair of scissors and cut slits in the bottom. :dizzy:

Hope everyone has a great, relaxing weekend.

Tina, the machine we have is a thing you sit on, push on pedals with your feet, and pull back on handlebars at the same time. I know it really gives the tummy, legs, and arms a workout.

Tim and I went shopping today for a new shirt for him. Found nothing that he liked. Saw lots of things for him that I liked, but he rolled his eyes.

Bob and I were just planning a trip to Georgia over Christmas break. Not sure exactly how long we'll stay, but it just sounds nice. I wish we could leave today!

Howdy,

It's my fall break. It's hard to believe we've been in school 8 weeks already. I do love my little class!!

Mimi, I can't even imagine turning on the heater. It's still warm here, the other morning it was abotu 59 degrees and I was freezing. I would die if I need a heavy coat. :)

Tammy, now don't you work too hard at school.

Tina, come up to the State Fair!!! It opened yesterday and will be running all month long.

Amy, whatcha doing? Did you have fun at the beauty shop?

Pat and I are going to the Fair on Thursday. I'm really hoping he'll take Tuesday off. It's hard to believe that it's going to be a year. It seems like a life time already. Hopefully in Heaven, it will only seem like a minute until I'm with my precious baby.

Hi all,
I'm so tired and Larry has done all the work today. He picked up the pile of sticks, branches and leaves I raked up from the storm. We have to put everything in large sacks or the garbage men won't pick it up. Grrr....
Then, he started working cleaning up the back yard.

Tammy, what part of GA are y'all going to? Is it that island? How long will you stay? Ooooh, can I go, too???? Just kidding. :)

Mimi, I'm with Susan---I sweat just thinking about wearing a heavy coat. I'm so warm natured.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Hi all. Hope everyone is doing great. The weather here is going to warm up for a couple of days to about 80° then it's going to drop down into the 60's. I LOVE Fall! Unfortunately I'm not too crazy about winter. LOL ;)

I am still without a car. I could use mine but the mornings are TOO cold with no driverside window. :( As soon as they get the parts I will take mine in and will get a loner for free till mine is done. That won't be so bad. :) Hopefully the first of this week.

Mimi, it sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the great work.

Tammy, hope you have a good time on your trip.

Susan, hope you have a good time at the state fair too. :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday... Take care......Sis :D

We are planning to go to Jekyll Island in Georgia. I can't wait! lol We were trying to decide if we wanted to be there on Christmas Day, because we don't know if there would be anyplace open to eat! I said we could have things with us to fix something easy, so we just might do it.

Susan, we don't have a fall break. Hope you enjoy yours. A year already. So hard to believe. Seamus is waiting for you in Heaven, and he's in good hands until you and Pat are there.

Sis, I hate being without a car! Hopefully things get back to normal for you very soon.

My friends and I will be going to our little canal town in Indiana before Christmas for our yearly getaway. We have always just stayed for one night, and this year we are booked for 2 nights at the bed and breakfast where we always stay. We'll be there Dec. 16-18. We have so much fun when we are there, and the innkeepers are a blast!!

I need to spend some time at school. My room just isn't the way that I want it yet. With 27 kids in the small room, I don't feel like we have any room to move around. I like the kids, but I really don't like not knowing what I'm doing. 2 years. I can do this.

Tim just left for work. He said last night that he wishes he could quit. With the cost of gas, he really isn't making much with the driving back and forth. It's a 20 mile drive round trip. AND he also has to drive the same distance each day to the community college. A couple of times I've had him take my van to save the gas in his car. I think it would be better if he worked right here in town, but there aren't that many places to work.

Have a great Sunday!!

Sis, I'm sorry you still haven't gotten your car fixed. For me, it's hard to realize it's COLD for you in the mornings. :) I'm just thankful it has cooled down a little for all those in TX and LA that are without power. My girlfriend doesn't think they'll get power back for at least a month.

Susan, you know you're always in our thoughts and prayers. We love you and hurt for and with you.

Tammy, your trip sounds neat. However, I don't think I could be away from home on Christmas Day. Whatever you decide, I know you need that rest and getaway.

Guess what -- we're taking a little vacation in a few weeks. Larry has been in need of one for months--with that crazy manager changing HER mind about things all the time.
I am very worried about Smokey, though. David always comes and spends the night here with him. It would be traumatic for him if Smokey got really sick and/or died. Smokey is not doing well at all right now. This week, I'll call and talk to the vet. I wish there was a majic cure for getting old and getting "oldness" illnesses.
Now that I've gotten myself all upset thinking about it, I'll get off here. (Sorry about all this personal stuff.)
