Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. Sorry I've been away, but this event I'm planning for the 28th is taking all my time--which is BAD since it is a volunteer job and it is taking far too much time away from my paying clients---AARRGGHH! Anyway, I just wanted to pop in to say that I'll be back when I can catch a breath--sometime after the 29th. I miss everyone and hope ya'll are doing well.

I did skim last week's board just long enough to find out that Julia's baby is here--Yippee!!!

And to find out that Gator and BOB did no permanent damage to each other. . .

I hope everyone else has a good week!

Susan

MMM-

I am down 1/2 a pound this morning. I usually weigh less later, but I have a meeting at 10, and I wanted to try and get in a walk and a shower before it, so I don't have time to wait! :)

FILLISE: Thanks for stopping in...it was good to see your post. We miss you!

I will check in later!

Happy Monday Chickies!

It was a strange weekend. I was in a funk yesterday. Ate lots of legal food, nothing bad, just more than I normally eat. The scale was all over the place today. 4 lbs one way then the other. I think it was possessed today. I'll try again tomorrow. Saturday's well planned dinner went down the tubes. The restaurant has been sold and was closed so we went to this place that is family cooking. We had 8 vegatables, one being mashed potatoes. I had maybe 1 T of them. THe creamed spinach was fabulous. As were the rolls and honey.

Yesterday we thatched the yard so that was my exercise. I didn't even take a walk or work out I was in such a funk.

Here's to a better week.

Julia, Congratulations on your baby boy. What a pretty name. Glad it was an easy time for you and things are going great. Can't wait to see some pics.

Bob, look at the bright side, you could be UK. You can definately count on that WIN. The Vols didn't look so bad. It was a good game.

Gator, Oh yeah, next week will not be pretty. yes we have had some interesting games, but I don't see it happening next week. If we continue to lose 2 players each game, we will be down to the cheerleaders soon. In a way I hoe we get clobbered every game and maybe they will get rid of Brooks, and Barnhart. No I can't beleive Vandy. How awsome is that. But of course we were counting on them for a win, but probably not now. Congrats on the Gators win. It was a good game.

Susan, we will be anxiously waiting for the 29th when you can get back more often. Take care.

Tech, I feel your pain, I feel like a yo-yo.

Monet, congrats on the 1/2 lb. Thanks for starting the board. Any word on the contract yet?

Got to get busy. Be back later.

Ok Ladies, I finally had a great week. I stayed motivated. I stuck to my Figure 8 plan, and finally started using the whole program. So this morning I weighed in. DOWN 4 LBS!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so pumped!! And I finally joined the Y on Friday. I'll be headed that way in a bit. I'm going to start Water Aerobics on Tuesday and Latin Cardio on Fridays. It was perfect timing. EVerything starts this week on the schedule, so I won't be jumping in confused.

I also went to the Arbonne Fall Extravaganza over the weeken. I expected it to be full of cheesyness, but it was great. It gave me jsut the motivation I need to get in gear and take my next step towards a bigger paycheck and my free Mercedes! I may have to work my rear off till January 1, but I am determined to have my Mercedes within a year. I need to get huffing it.

OK, I'm starting over. I've done a thingy to show my current wt & goal. That's a start! I've also been to the Gym this am & will post on the exercise board! I've got to start off slowly not to over-do with my shoulder but I did 21 min on TM= 1 mile, 10 min on bike=3 miles, whirlpool, steam room & sauna. Really wore me out but at the same time, felt good.

Breakfast was coffee & SB Power Lean Shake.

Working on the water now. I'm off to the shower after I finish posting then therpy at 2pm.

OK Gals, this is my committment: exercise, OP eating & posting as often as possible. I've allowed my weight to inflate from my low 3 years ago @ 134, to the present & it's GOT to stop. I'm also committing to reading Dr. Phil's book. Have started already.

I met with the headmistress this morning. We went over my list, and she gave me as much info as she could. They finally checked alternate references, and will have my contract ready when I go in on Wednesdays. I am hoping she will change the schedule as per my suggestion, to split the 5-7 grades into two classes, instead of one very large, hard to handle class. So, it was a good meeting and I felt encouraged. The secretary gave me the usual huge pile of official paperwork to fill out...with tax forms and such, and explained the time sheets. So, the job is mine, and I can now say that without any feelings of ill ease. :)

I need to head off to the store, and run errands. I want to go by the Asian grocery store and get sole fillets, Harry's for half and half, and Costco for frozen strawberries. I better pack a cooler, since I don't want to have to come home inbetween.

I did not get my walk in this morning...I overslept and then took too long getting through my morning routine. I have my pedometer on, and will make sure I walk a lot at the markets I am going to today.

Breakfast was a smoothie, coffee with half and half. Not sure about lunch...

Talk to you all later!

Good afternoon:

WIM: I was at 121.5# this morning, up a bit from last week, but still o.k. considering the time of month it is.

Britt had a half day, so I took her and the other girls to school, and then took Lane to her new eye doctor. I then took Lane to the gym with me, and then to Target. We then went to pick up the girls from school...came home and ate lunch and then went out for yogurt and we are now relaxing for a bit before I get dinner started.

I won't be able to get to the gym the rest of the week, so I plan to do a few workouts here at home. I hope to do my TurboJam on Tuesday & Thursday, and then walk the track on Friday when Lane is tumbling.

I am tired today; this getting up at 5 a.m. is wearing me out. Britt is so used to getting up for school now; even on the weekends, she is up by 6 a.m. I can't sleep in anymore :( . She is actually off the 29th & 30th of this month, as well as October 3rd; she will have a 5-day weekend. I wish we would have known sooner...we could have planned a trip somewhere. We will just find some fun things around town to do.

Fillise: Good to "see" you. Sorry this project is consuming so much of your time. We hope to see more of your posts when you finish up with that.

Monet: Congrats on the loss; that's great. Congrats also on the job....I knew you would get it.

Tech: Sorry you are up a bit. Buckle down, and you will breeze right past that 160. Remember the Holidays are just around the corner; this is a good time to get a handle on it.

Jack: I hope you found your way out of that funk. Thatching is definately good exercise.

Talitha: Congrats on the loss! That is fantastic. I'm glad you were able to join the Y; keep up the great work on the exercise. Good luck meeting that Arbonne goal.

Melf: Way to jump back in. We are glad to have you back. Remember we are here for you!

I gotta run!

Take care,
Nat

Hello all.
No weigh in this morning. I was gonna try ( even though I weigh on fridays) to weigh this morning and the time got away from me. Hard getting back in gear after being off work since last wed.
I had a dr appt today after work ( gyn) for my yearly check up and I told him Ive been very very very lightly spotting ( not even enough to use anything with) I thought maybe that was normal after going through menopause ( been 2 1/2 yrs with no Mr Tom) and he said no its not normal. So now I have to go through a battery of tests. Today was blood work and he wanted a bone density test done so I got that out of the way today. Next monday I go for a biopsy ( I guess they take a piece from inside the uterus area). If that comes back fine then next its a ultra sound. I also have to schedule my mammogram. I hope its nothing. Im trying not to worry. The past two years Ive had abnormal tests but when I had the retest they said I was good for another year. Getting older is for the birds ! :smug:
Besides that it was just a normal work day. Oh wait.. lol today is dh and my anny. We went out to dinner Saturday so I didnt even think about it today ..until.. he sent me a dozen red roses to work! Boy am I hangin my head.

Nat- Is turbo Jam a workout video?

Monet- congratulations on the offical word on the job! I bet your excitied. And congrats on the 1/2 pound loss . I think youve found your key ,it really seems to be working for you !

Melf- Hang in there !

Talitha_ :cb: woo hoo 4 lbs thats great !

Jack-k- do you use one of those "by hand" thatchers? Thats what we have and boy is that a workout !

Kris & Susan - hi to you both :)

Dinner tonight turned out awesome! I took about a pound of small shelled shrimp, and sauteed it in my Calphalon pan with a bit of Zatarain's shrimp and crab boil sprinkled in for seasoning. Then I put a couple stalks of celery, two green onions and the shrimp in the food processor and pulsed it until it was finely chopped. I added about 1/4 cup of ww bread crumbs, and then chopped a fresh poblano pepper from the garden and mixed it in. I patted this mixture onto flounder filets and rolled them up, and sprinkled it with lemon pepper seasoning, then put them in a pan, and dotted it with butter. I covered it with foil and baked at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. Oh my! It was SOO good! We also had roasted asparagus and gorgonzola and almond salad with balsamic vinaigarette.

After dinner, we went for a 20 minute walk which brought my daily steps up to 12,041. I think it is a bit generous...this is the pedometer that got, ah hem, wet, so it may not be totally accurate, but close enough. :)

I need to go check out some art supplies for school, so I better get going.

Hey guys. Just checking in. Today was really boring at work, did nothing but read and take notes all day. My hand was hurting by the time the day was done. The day really went by slowly. I got my workout in this AM and when I got home I did the 1 mile tape for a boost. This weekend I was bad with my eating. I did okay on SUnday but Friday and Saturday were realllllyyyy realllllyyyy bad. I was getting back down again, think I was 165 on Friday. So much for that. At least I'm back on track now. I'm going to really try and do alot better this weekend. My eating is kinda screwy while working. I don't take a lunch cause I'm trying to get my hours in. But I do eat, just lacking with my veggies severly. Here's my menu for the day:

BF- had plain yogurt with splenda and an orange
Snack(at work)- had 2 celery stalks and 6 baby carrots with Ranch dressing
Lunch- Good Mornings! LC bar(150 cal, 14 g protein, 6g fat)
After work and on the way home I was STARVING, so I stopped and got me the Snickers LC marathon bar to keep me from going crazy(170 cal)
Supper- made a big salad with tuna, 2% cheese, grape tomatoes, red onion, cukes, and Light Dressing. Oh yea, I ate 1 spoon of Hamburger Helper(just 1!).
Dessert- 1 cup Sf ice cream(200 cals).

That seems like alot when typed, but it was still no more than 1300 calories. I actually only ate the sf ice cream to increase my calories for the day. Fun way to do so,lol. I'll be so glad when I get my eating all the way back under control. I'm glad that I'm finally out of the 170's(for good!), now I need to work on getting out of the 160's once and for all. I'm going to post on the exercise board....At least I met my exercise goals for last week.

Hello  old friends and people who have joined since I disappeared whom I hope will become new friends. "Excuse me ladies for I have sinned, it's been many years and pounds gained since my last post."

So much has happened to me in the past few years, most of it good. In April Mr. Frog and I had a tadpole! :D My pregnancy and recovery got a little complicated, but all is well and I'm ready now (finally) to address the weight that has crept on. I am an official stay at home mommy and hope to have time to post, exercise with "Miss Baby," cook well, meal plan like a good SBer and contribute to this board. For those of you who'd like to see my girl's pic I've posted it for you.

In years past I received so much support as I lost 65 pounds by eliminating high GI foods. I've regained nearly all that weight very slowly - hate those sneaky calories! I know how much healthier and happier I was without sugar and the evil carbs. It will be interesting for dh as I detox and have a period all in the same week! But even after a few days of reduced white carbs, sugar and caffiene I'm starting to feel better.

Not to slight my dear old friends, but a special hey to...
MELF - I'm most especially glad to see you posting! That means you're safe! :cp:

I'm trying to get on a better sleep cycle, so I will say goodnight  .

What a day. Got to the Y for 30 minutes. I'll post it. Went to Costco with my sis and got some turkey bacon. I love bacon, but we don't eat pork. I can't wait for breakfast tomorrow. I've got water aerobics at 10am. :)

Tomorrow night is Phantom of the Opera. I haven't got a thing to wear. I'm guessing I'll just wear my black skirt with something.

Monet- COngrats on having the job finalized!!! Are you up for a reschedule on the farmer's market for Friday? I need to go in the AM

Cindy- I've never seen a banana dance so fast. It must be b/c I ahve DSL now...

Melf- Hop back on. We're all still going for it together.

Poncho- A 5 day weekend? That dsounds nice. I wish I could get my husband to have one of those...

Talitha: I used to take Water Aerobics at the Y, back in the day when I lived near one! I am here to tell you that if you go to that class 3 days a week, you will be so successful! I went when I was about 22 and I was the only person in the class under 65, but you work out to your best ability and let me tell you, there is no better exercise than working out in the water, imho. We did leg circles and arm circles and jumping jacks, stomach curls in the deep end holding water jugs. The 'older' people would move minimally and mostly exercised their vocal chords talking , but I would crank and really work it and keep up with the instructor. After the class, I'd get dressed in my sweats and work out with weights for a while and it was during that time frame that I was in the best shape ever. I would love to take that class now, but I'm 45 mins away from the nearest Y and with winter and crappy weather around the corner...

Frog: I'm new since you were on before...I started here almost a year ago. Wow...a baby!! And she's adorable, too! If you ever want to swap labor stories, just give me a yell!

Laurie: Well,it sounds like your post Katrina life is getting back to some semblance of normalcy. And I'm glad the job is a tiny bit boring for you, at least you didn't take off more than you can chew and the boss will love that you're handling things with ease and maybe give you something more to do!

Monet: You should consider yourself lucky I don't live in Georgia because I'd be knocking on your door at dinner time at least once a week!! :s: Even if it were just for cooking lessons!! And, now that I'm thinking about it, I still haven't forgotten the black rice you promised in the event I ever get to 155...which shouldn't be any time soon with my weak resolve to stick to plan. But I'll be looking for a new recipe at the very least, hopefully before my birthday in November. If I can just stick to my guns, I want to be a size 10 by then!!

Melf:

Cindy: :lol3: So, who's the husband in your relationship, anyway? I'm like that, too...my DH is way better at remembering important dates... And, gosh...how scary to have the gyno say, 'no, that's not normal' and then send you in for tests galore. That is really scary and I'll keep you in my prayers that it's something simple. :grouphug:

Pancho: We're up early here, too. I put my DS down last night well before 9pm and thought he'd sleep late this morning because he's gotten a cold from a kid in preschool that sneezed on him :( . So, I was hoping for him to get a good night's sleep, but we had thunder this morning, and that woke him up at 6am. I'm sure you'll find something fun to do on Britt's long weekend!!

Jack: Yardwork DEFINITELY qualifies as exercise, in my book. I had to mow the lawn yesterday as, apparently, my DH has gone on strike with it and is now out of town for the week again. We have a rider mower, but I have to use the push mower to do a lot of it where there are roots and along the side of the driveway. What a workout!!

Okay...so, anyway...I have court tonight to see if I can beg and plea my way out of my ticket or at least have it reduced. The whole thing is so exasperating. Then my DS was sneezed on by a boy in his preschool on Friday and now he has a cold, despite the fact that I took him home and gave him a bath right after school and then have been pumping him up with vitamins all weekend. Creepy little kid. Why do people bring their kids to school sick? It's so maddening...they end up getting everyone else sick and I think it's so selfish!!

And then we woke up to a thunderstorm this morning and I had both kids in bed with me at 6am. I got DD in the shower before it got close as I get nervous with people being in the bathrooms or in the kitchen during storms.

And then...I'll tell you guys...a tiny bit of too much information, but DH had a little accident yesterday and last time he had an accident (actually, it was an 'on purpose', but you get my drift), Kyle came around 9 months later! I've been sadder and sadder as Kyle gets older and older thinking my baby days are coming to an end and I"ve always wanted a third baby. Derek is of the mindset that we're done having babies, but if it happens by accident, he'll be happy, but he'll not be doing any more 'on purposes', so maybe this is my 'accident' I've been waiting for!! Keeping my fingers crossed...I'd be soo happy. My mom thinks I"m too old at 39-40 to be having a baby, but one thing I always say is if the Lord wants it to happen, it'll happen and there isn't a whole lot anyone can do to avoid it. One thing's for sure...if my accident turns out to be a wonderful suprise, we'll be moving to a bigger house. Anyhow...keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Okay...off to get some breakfast!! No preschool today, so I get to relax this morning.

Ellen

I have been puttering through some forms, and then emails and have not accomplished a whole lot this morning. I need to go light a fire under James, and fix some breakfast! So far, all I have had is coffee! (at least I am awake!)

FROG: Great to see you! Your little tadpole is beautiful! I wondered where you had gotten off to! Hop right back in, and I am sure you will get that weight off again in no time!

TALITHA: Yes, I think I would be up for a reschedule. Friday morning? What time?

TECH: My mom was 42 when my sister was born...my sister was 39 when her first of three was born...now days, women are having kids later so you are not too old! I hope it works out the way you want. :) I have three and wish I had four or five. (I had three miscarriages, so my record is not very good! :( )

HEART: Good to see you!

PANCHO: You will enjoy the hanging out days off around home, won't you? Just think of all that stress you are not going to have packing, and stuff! ;)

Ok, I need some protein for breakfast! I will be back later!

Hey, where is COUNTRY?

Good Morning Chickies,

I had to cut out early yesterday I had an appt with the surgeon who did my mastecomy. I like going to him. He is so nice and caring plus he "feels me up" really good. Just wish I could tell he was doing it. Seriously that is where I get my best exam especially since I can't get mammograms any more. I feel at east after leaving his office.

I got about 25 minutes of exercise in last night. I was going through my new routine trying out the exercises. It takes a while to read and figure them out and do some. I only did 1 set of each one trying to get through them. It will take about a week to weed them out and set up a normal routine.

I did get 22 minutes on the TM today. My goal is to increase the time by 5 minutes this week. I was so frustrated with the scale. Expecting to see a lower number today, I was up 3 lbs. I only had around 1300 calories yesterday. I just can't figure this out and I am so frustrated.

Talitha, 4 lbs is great. Joining the Y will help a lot too. Congrats.

Melf, back on the wagon. Sounds like you have jumped on and are strapped in pretty good. Just don't over-do and hurt your shoulder. I have started Dr Phil's book, but didn't get too far. You did have a great day back OP. Keep it up.

Monet, I'm glad the job is officialy yours. I know the kids will benefit greatly from your knowledge.

Nat, you are so dedicated on your exercise you inspire me. Don't they post a school calendar listing all the holidays? Usually they are in a handbook or some sorts.

Cindy, Happy Anniversary. Your DH is a sweetie. Sending prayers that all is fine with you. I had the biopsy thingy, He just snipped a piece. It hurt a bit, but nothing unbearable. Keep us posted. No, we used rakes to thatch the yard. I suggeted renting a thatcher but DH you are not supposed to thatch your yard. So he thought this would help it and not do any damage. I thought it was a lot of work. I have a bad blister to prove it.

Laurie, how about taking a turkety sandwich for lucnh with letuce and tomato? That is easy to eat at your desk and you would be adding some veggies plus I thinkit would be more filling than a protein bar. Good job getting your exercise in.

Frong, Welcome back. Some of us are still here. Your baby is precious. So much hair. How old is she now. Funny how that wt creeps back. Actually, I think it comes back on a lot quicker than it leaves. Glad you are back with us.

Kris, you crack me up. I hope your "accident" turns out the way you want it. How did the ticket turn out last night?

Got to get busy. Be back later. (I hope, I have 2 meetings this afternoon).

Ellen

Its been a busy morning for me. I can't tell you what I was doing...but it sure has felt busy! I went to the grocery store and got the rest of the stuff I needed. I sure hope I am set for a while now. I have spent almost all my grocery budget, and its only a few days into the pay period! I don't think we will starve, but we may run out of some things the fam considers essentials.

TALITHA: I spoke too soon...I checked my calendar and I am supposed to meet with a young lady from church on Friday. Can we work out something for Monday or Tuesday? Oh, and next Wednesday is when Gator will be in town. Do you have time to go meet her? I will be teaching on Wednesday, and I think that might be the only time she is free. :( I am hoping we can work out something either that evening, or Tuesday evening. I believe they leave Thursday afternoon.

JACK: Stay off the scale! With the way you retain water, its counterproductive to be weighing every day. You need a bigger picture. I really wish I could convince you to read this book, Mastering Leptin. Its very interesting, and helpful. It probably has more useful information than Dr. Phil's book.....

You will all be so proud of me...I cleaned out one of the crisper drawers in the fridge. One down and one to go! (did I mention how much I hate cleaning out the fridge?)

Just back from the Y , and I feel like a million bucks. I did the water aerobics (1 hour) and 25 minutes cardio. Now I have to clean the house, do some laundry, get stuff boxed and to the post office (Ebay), get the kids situated for the sitter AND figure out what in the heck to wear to the Phantom tonight. Trav is suprising me for dinner. I just told him I want something with meat and veggies. No pasta, chinese..... Eating has been stellar yesterday and today. I fell so motivated know ing tha tI lsot 4 lbs last week. I can't wait to add to it!!

MONET- I'm pretty sure monday morning would be fine. I've got food enough till then. I could do any time Wed with gator, but I have company for dinner Tuesday night. I'll PM her my phone #

Jack- Thanks. I feel a little like a fish in/out of water with my new exercises too (the water aerobics). We'll ge tthe hang of it :)

Kris- Jacob was a planned 'accident' too. We basically realized immediately after the fact that we not only 'got past the goalee' but absolutely obliterated the barrier. We had him named and my due date calculated before we were up and out of bed. I hope it works out for you, too!!

tech- I was the only one in the group under 65, until thist tiny little brazilian in a thong bikini jumped in late. She's really sweet. I didn't let it get me down and comparing myself. I'm going to try to do it 3 times a week. Thanks for the encouragement.

Frog- Welcome back!! I was out for about a year, too, but I remember you. What's the tadpole's name? I've got a new one, too. Jacob is 8 months.

Alrighty, all you SBPs (Sugar Buster Pros!!) - I have a question. Could you take a look at this menu and see if it's along the lines of what the SB plan would be? I'm going to get the book on the way home today, but was trying to plan my lunch for tomorrow so I could also stop at the grocery if needed.

Breakfast: deviled egg, 1 cup skim milk, light string cheese
Snack: Dannon Light 'n Fit yogurt (6 oz.)
Lunch: Campbell's Bean with Bacon soup, 6 Triscuits
Snack: carrots and Marzetti's dill dip
Dinner: salad with romaine, broiled shrimp, strawberries, feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette dressing

Now there. I had looked at some of your posts, I think it was something like "foods I keep on hand." This is mainly what I have eaten on WW (and the above equals 20 WW points too, by the way) but after reading on this forum, it seems as though the lower GI foods are what I should be eating. I think I can incorporate both ... I realize this WOE isn't a counting thing, but it's such a habit for me that it might take a while to break.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or opinions!

Kathy: First thing I'd like to say is you should really check the ingredients on the label of the soup, yogurt, dill dip and salad dressing. I have a hunch that on possibly all of them you may have some high frutcose corn syrup. I know tomato soup has it and lots of salad dressings have it, as does almost all yogurts, even the low/no fat brands. There is a brand that we don't have up here in NY that a lot of the gals here have that has 'bunny' in it and also you can look for 'low carb' yogurts, but your best bet with yogurt is to get plain yogurt and doctor it up with some splenda and some frozen fruit like blueberries. I put walnuts in mine, too. As for soup, I stear clear of it because if it doesn't hae HFCS, it likely has some rice or noodles that are no-no's here, too.

Also, I'd have liked to see you incorporate some fruit in your breakfast. You should aim for two servings of fruit (I do, anyway) or veggies with your meals. That and a protien something or other. Everything else was fine. ;)

Thanks! That was speedy!

The soup doesn't have any of the HFCS ... it's something I ate as a child and had forgotten about until I saw it on someone's "staple" list. I'll have to check the dip, but it's mainly mayo and dill powder. If mayo is acceptable, the dip should be fine but I don't know if mayo IS acceptable. All I know is that it has 0.3 carbs per 1 T, which sounds pretty low. The salad dressing does have the HFCS, so I'll need to find a sub for that. And the other thing ... ummm ... oh yes, the yogurt. I haven't checked the label but had seen it on several of the other posts where people said they ate it. I'll have to check it out. I don't have any handy (was going to get some at the store) but I can check online and take a peek at the label.

So what sort of fruit? I used to be a banana eater but see that's a no go. I have a bowl of cantaloupe and grapes, and the only salads I'll eat nowadays are the one I listed with the strawberries in it. Must be a freaky craving, but for some reason it tastes good to me.

I really appreciate your help!

Here's what the label on the yogurt says:

Nonfat Yogurt [Cultured Grade A Nonfat Milk, Modified Corn Starch, Kosher Gelatin, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D3], Fructose Syrup, Cherries, Contains Less Than 1% of Aspartame, Modified Corn Starch, Natural Flavor, Red 40, Potassium Sorbate (to Maintain Freshness), Blue 1, Malic Acid.

Is the Fructose Syrup as bad a critter as the High Fructose Corn Syrup? Are they the same thing?

Aha! I see apples on the list -- I like apples. Now can I have peanut butter? I saw some said yes and some said no. I have tried the natural in the past and couldn't get past the mixing it up each time, plus it tasted icky to me so I'd rather not have it if that's the only legal kind.

Howdy.....I just finished a good lunch (tuna steak with sugar snap peas & cherry tomatoes). For BF, I had a bowl of legal cereal with blueberries, crushed walnuts, cinnamon and soy milk. I also had an apple and a Trader Joes trail mix bar for snacks. Tonight I am making Chicken Enchilada for dinner.

I volunteered at Lane's school today, in the 4's class. I don't know how these teachers do this day in and day out, and not lose their minds. There was one little boy in class that hits, and speaks out and says that he doesn't like the other kids in the class. When you ask him to do something, he tells you no. I'd not have the patience to deal with him as "lovingly" as this teacher does. I get to volunteer in Lane's class next Tuesday; I look forward to that.

Brittany was going on a field trip today to see a Junie B. Jones play (for those of you who don't know..she is a character from a book series). Britt was excited since she has a lot of the Junie B. Jones books.

WE MADE A DECISION YESTERDAY.....we are going to DISNEYLAND for Thanksgiving. The school has grandparents day the day before Thanksgiving, and due to the circumstances with my parents, we figured we'd pull them out of school and go to Disneyland. Britt still has no idea what happened with my parents, and I'd rather not discuss it with her at her age. They usually spend the day with us on Thanksgiving too (a few hours anyway), but that won't be happening either, so we thought it would be a good time to go. The girls are pumped! So am I! I am such a kid at heart.

Cindy: I will pray that all goes well with your tests. Please have them check your bladder; it is often overlooked with women. I don't want to scare you, but my mom got bladder cancer when she was only 38. She had a partial hysterectomy when she was in her early 30's. She had spotting, and complained about it, but no-one ever found anything or took her seriously. She ended up going in for a full hysterectomy when she was 38, and they found the bladder cancer by ACCIDENT during that surgery. Thank God she had that surgery, or it may have been too late once they "listened" to her. Happy Anniversary!!!! What a sweet hubby. TurboJam is a workout, and it is a fun one. They claim you can burn 700 calories during the 45-minute jam. Some people in the test group even burned closer to 1000 calories during the workout. If you want to check it out, go to www.beachbody.com.

Melf: Is that enough food?? Good job staying OP.

Monet: Dinner sounds yummy! Good job on those steps.

Heart: Sorry work has been so sow; it really makes the day crawl by. Those weekends are always tought aren't they?

Frog: Welcome back; I have been on this board for over two years, but don't recall seeing you post....so I must be a newbie to you. I look forward to getting to "know" you. Congrats on the birth of your DD. She is precious!

Talitha: Enjoy the Phantom tonight...black always works for anything. Does the Y have daycare?

Tech: Sorry your son picked up some icky germs. I hear what you are saying about being at school sick, especially in preschool. Once they get beyond kindergarten, they want them there though, unless they have a fever over 100 or they are throwing up. Tis the season! Good luck with possible surprise. I love babies too, and would have loved to have more, but my DH is 42, and I am almost 38, so we decided that we are done! If we had started earlier, we would have had at least one more.

Jack: Good job on exercise. Glad you were able to see surgeon, and he was able to put your mind at ease for awhile. They do post the days off in a school calendar that we got when the school year started, but this was so close to the beginning of the year, I didn't realize it until about a week ago.

Katpo: Welcome aboard. You should get the book and read it to understand the concept of SB. It really helped me realize the reasoning behind it all. I would add some fruit to your BF, and some veggies with lunch. That yogurt would be a no-no. If you are not opposed to artificial sweeteners, there is a great yogurt sweetened with Spenda called Blue Bunny Lite 85 (Wal-mart carries it). I get Mountain High, which is sweetened with fructose. You can have any fruit you want, although raisins, pineapple, bananas and watermelon are not allowed on SB. Grapes, oranges, apples, pears, apricots, peaches, plums...you get my drift....they are all o.k. Bananas are even o.k, if they are not too ripe. I am maintaining my weight, but I eat a banana nearly every day. It's better than some of the other things I could be eating. They have a lot of health benefits. Peanut Butter is fine, as long as it is all natural (just peanuts or peanuts and salt)....no sweeteners. You will get real good at reading labels. It takes me hours to shop, but I also avoid any hydrogenated oils, and my DD has lots of allergies to foods. Please feel free to ask any questions you have! We are glad to have you.

I better go give Lane some lovin'. I'll check back later.

Take care,
Nat

Katpo: A way to get past that peanut butter snafoo, is to stir it when you first open it, and then store it upside down in your fridge. When you are ready to use it, just put a spoonful in a microwaveable bowl, and nuke it for a few seconds; you could even add a spoonful of agave to it to make it sweeter. You can also use other nut butters, such as almond butter or soynut butter.

Take care,
Nat

Well, darn it! Wouldn't you know when I stopped by the store to get a few things (cashews, sweet potato chips, etc.) I got a 12-pack of this yogurt. They are the 4 oz. cups though, so maybe I'll be okay until I muddle thru them. Either that or I can convince the kids to eat them!

I think I'll go over to Central Market (http://www.centralmarket.com) this weekend and get them to grind me some almond butter. That sounds good.

I sooo appreciate these responses. Believe me, not every other group is as kind as you guys!

Oh and I stopped by Barnes & Noble on my way home from work. They only had the hardback and it was like $25!! I had gone to the store and got $20 cash back, didn't take my debit card into the store and only had that $20 in my pocket. It is so freakin' hot here and I was exhausted and ready to go home, so I didn't take the time to go back out to the car for my wallet, then go back in and get the book. I'll try again tomorrow ... but this time will be prepared!!

Kat: I would suggest going to the library and borrow the book until you see it in paperback. I get tons of books at the library unless its a book I want in a collection like the harry potter books... Anyhow...

I get No Sugar Added peanut butter and sugar free jelly or jam and have pb&j once in a while. Mostly I like the peanut butter for a spoonful here or there for a snack. My son and I love to eat peanut butter from the jar. We're gross. But I always use NSA peanut butter and SF jelly for my kids sandwiches.

A good salad dressing to try is Paul Newman's vinegar and olive oil (or at least it's something like that). It has no sugar or psuedo sugar (the corn syrupy things and all their evil cousins  ) in it and is pretty good.

Pretty good going with the triscuits and just the right amount...6. I sometimes take a slice of cheddar and put them on the triscuits and nuke 'em for 10-15 seconds to melt the cheese a little.

A couple golden rules I have are if I really, really like something and the added sugar is more than five ingredients into the listing of ingredients, I check the grams of sugar in the label and if it's less than, say, 5, I go easy on it, but still have it. For instance, I live in a dinky little town that's 45 mins from the nearest city where I buy groceries. I can get some things at a tiny little grocery store in my village, but the bread selection is weak. So, I get a WW bread, but it has HFCS in it, but it's way down the list in ingredients. I still get it, but go easy on it and have open faced sandwiches until I get to Watertown to buy legal bread. BUT, something may be high on the label for grams of sugar, like the plain yogurt I have, but still be legal. It has 19 g of sugar in it, BUT the ingredients are: cultured pasteurized nonfat milk, whey protien concentrate, nonfat milk solids and whey. No sugar, which means the sugar in it is lactose, which is fine. :dizzy: Are you thoroughly confused yet? You just have to take a month or so of crazy, intense label reading and then you'll go to the store and breeze through shopping, knowing exactly what brands are legal, etc. You'll get the hang of it...just hang in there and ask us lots of questions. This diet, or way of eating, is so worth it because it's all really healthy and the way humans SHOULD be eating. You will feel like a million bucks eating this way just from the nutritional benefit from it and the weight will come off naturally and healthily (is that a word?).

In other news...I just got back from the courthouse. They had the place packed in and one case was for a guy that had a felony thing going on because he robbed the local gas station of $35,000 in lottery tickets!! The judge was telling me, which I thought was weird, as he wrote out my fine slip. I see him all the time getting his mail at the post office...I guess it helps to be friendly because you never know who it is you are being frinedly to and when it will work to your benefit. He got me in as the second case and I got it reduced from a speeding ticket to a non-moving violation or whatever and dropped from 4 points to 2, but still have to pay $130, but would have had to pay $145 with the other, not to mention if my insurance went up from it. So, at least that was something. I'm still jittery from just being there. I just never knew there were so many cretins living in my pretty little village. :( I think I'll go take a bath after the kids get to bed. Bleh...

Just flying by...I need to go prepare some for tomorrow's classes. I promised the older kids we would do two point perspective, and I really ought to brush up on it! The younger kids are going to be doing a 'stained glass' project to teach color. I thought of doing a color wheel, but that is so boring...this sounds like so much fun. (PANCHO: You could do this easy with your girls.) You have the kids color with red, blue and yellow watercolor markers on a coffee filter. (one of the round white kinds) Then, you lay that on a piece of copy paper, and spray it a few times with a fine mist squirt bottle. Have the kids blot it with another piece of copy paper, and let it dry some. Then, you take black paper, and cut it into a round a slight bit bigger than the coffee filter, and fold it in half. The kids then cut out some of the middle, like a stained glass window, and you glue the filter to the back of the black paper. Hang it up in the window...voila'! The colors all run together with the misting, and form the secondary colors. I found the lesson plan on my artists' forum and people said kids get really excited about it...so I thought we would try it. :)

KATPO: Everyone has given you good advice. I love Bean with Bacon soup too, but I have not had it in years. Do check the ingredients. Any corn products, or sugars are to be avoided. Enriched flour is not legal. It has to say whole wheat, and not enriched, or unbleached. It should be 100% whole grain. Triscuits are ok, as are Ak Mak crackers. I can't have dairy, or much wheat, so I don't know much about yogurts and such. If you don't want to buy the book, you can try the library. I got it from the library then ordered a copy from Amazon.

Ok, off to cut black paper frames for the kindergarten class. :)

Hey, thanks very much, GatorGal! I just ordered one. Now I don't have to go back to B&N tomorrow and gulp while paying the $25! It would be worth it if it's something I think I can stick with though!!!

All replies and suggestions are really appreciated. I am making my adjustments re: peanut butter, salad dressing, etc. For tomorrow though, I'll go ahead and have the B-V that I already have, and will probably have the yogurt too. After they're gone though, I'll move on to the other things that are more OP.

Monet: I have a favorite craft I like to do with kids and the preschool teacher said we're definitely going to do it for Christmas, she liked the suggestion so much. I go to Walmart and get the cheap little glass votives for tealight candles for 40 cents and I get a bunch of different color tissue paper (of course for Christmas I use red, white and green) and I mix equal parts of glue and water and use a paint brush to brush the different colored torn pieces of tissue paper on the votive, being careful not to get any tissue paper over the edge into the inside of the votive so it doesn't catch fire. And before the glue mixture dries, I sprinkle a little gold and/or silver glitter for added effect. When you light the tealight, the glow really highlights the colors of the tissue paper and it looks a whole lot like stained glass, too! Some kids are really neat and others are out of control, but it doesn't matter because if they're out of control and it's lumpy, I call it 'texture' and it's all okay. It's fun...I've done it for Girl Scouts and for the church youth program for a Christmas Eve Advent Candle for their Christmas dinner table.

Okay...have to go give Junior a little love. I just can't WAIT to have him shaved. Did I mention that he broke into my bag of Splenda the other night? He's a WRECK. His fur is so sticky and gross, and he already had mats galore because his father hasn't been around long enough to brush him out properly. I give it a go, but Junior fights me too much with brushing, so I can't get in there and get that under fur. Something tells me I've already ranted about this, but I'm still so excited to have him shaved tomorrow. He's going to look so funny. I'll take before and after pics. I take him in at 8 and then we go to preschool. Kyle has snack tomorrow, so I made brownies, then Kyle decided to 'decorate' the brownies and make holes so I know where he wants the candles. What a stinker! So, I'm going to cut them up anyway and sprinkle some confectionery sugar over them and pretend I know nothing. :s: Not as bad as my sister when she had to make a macaroni salad for a work party and slipped on the ice and the whole thing went flying across the yard all the snow...so she scooped it all up with a spoon, flattened it out and put some paprika on it and took it to work.

Okay...I'm going to take a bath and wash the criminal feeling I have from being in court. Bleh...

Doing ok as I go about the detox process. I realized after I began eating lunch that dh added white rice :nono: to the borwn rice that was in the chili and rice I had set aside. Oh well, so I'll have to spend another day shedding the sugar. Made an old favorite last night, cheesecake. It's Deb's recipe and it always turns out so good. I also made chips out of WW tortillas tonight. Thankfully I like to cook and enjoy putting together SB meals. My challenge, at times, is that I don't eat beef or pork! We are a poultry and fish household. All :ink: & :moo: are safe and welcome here!

With the :rain: here in NC tonight I can't help but think of this other hurricane now in the Gulf. Yikes! Hope everyone is high and dry!

Tuesday Tip - Always have some little SB snack in your purse or car to help resist those temptations! It is sooo much easier to get through the Halloween candy aisle if you know you've got your own little treat you can turn to when needed.

Getting ready to turn out the light and watch to see who wins "Rock Star:INXS" before drifting off to sleep.

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome/return. :grouphug: It's very motivating to see who is still finding success with this way of eating!

Have a good evening everyone!

Morning! I am just dropping in for a second before I have to go pack up all my stuff for school. I am riding over there with my neighbor, since she is subbing this week. Its not too far, and I could walk if I really had to. I may start doing that once the weather cools....

Anyway..I have to go pack my books and supplies and my lunch. I will be back this afternoon!

Morning Chickies,

I have been so busy this morning, hardly had time to read the posts and post.

Got in a 2 mile walk to the store last night. We had to carry bologna, hot dogs and frozen chicken breasts home so it added to the weight. Did get 22 minutes on the tm today. Will work on my exercised when I get home, I have bunco tonight so I won't be eating with the family. Sure hope we have some type of salad at bunco. This is our first one after the summer, so we will have lots to talk about. It will probably be a late night.

Monet, I know I should stay off the scale, but I can't. It was really wacky this morning, the first attempt I was at 173, the second attempt I was at 176, thired, was 175. After several more attempts 175 came up the most. Any way, I lost 5 to 7 pounds of water yesterday. Strange. I need to look into the book, just haven't had the time. Maybe it will be a good winter project. Have fun at school today. Sounds like a great project.

Talitha, glad you are enjoying the Y. How was the Phanthom and Dinner?

Kris, what is HFCS? Sorry you didn't get out of the ticket. Those places are so scary. My DD was a witness in an abuse case and I went with her once. Man I was scared to move. we stayed closed to the cops. I told her next time not to be such a good person and look the other way (the wife went right back with the DH and wanted my DD to not testify). I was ROTFLMAO about the maccaroni.

Katpo, if you like strawberries in your salad, I have a great salad dressing. It is made from mayo, milk, vinegar, splenda and poppy seeds. I can look it up ifyou are interested. I use Simply Jiff peanut butter, it is less sugar 3 grams I think. The bean soup is not legal unfortuantely. You need to make your own veggie soup. This is a very friendly and supportive board. Welcome

Nat, I agree, I don't see how these teachers do it these days. Especially since you can't discipline them at all and obviously they aren't getting it at home. What a good idea to go to Disneyland. We took the girls 15 years ago and they loved it.

Frog, glad your 2nd day went well. It is just one day at a time. Great Tuesday Tip.

Where is Toni and Country?

Have a great day.

Alrighty, the bean soup is getting scrapped. Darn it!! I would be interested in the poppy seed dressing recipe if you can find it, and will go add Simply Jif to my list.

Also (and gee, I hope you all aren't getting sick of me!) a question was asked on another thread about V8 juice. I looked up the label on Peapod and got this:

Tomato Juice From Concentrate (Water, Tomato Concentrate). Reconstituted Vegetable Juice Blend (Water & Concentrated Juices Of Carrots, Celery, Beets, Parsley, Lettuce, Watercress, Spinach), Salt, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Flavoring & Citric Acid.

Sounds legal to me, so I'm going to add it to my list until I hear otherwise.

Today I was back at the gym. Will post on the exercise board.
Menu today:

coffee & South Beach Diet High Protein Cereal Bar
1/4 cantelope

Not sure about supper yet but plan to saty OP & drinking my water!

Frog!!! How nice to hear from you! Welcome back & congrats on your adorable Tadpole!!

KATPO, welcome to the board & I wish you lots of success on the WOE. I know it works as I have lost in the past with it. Hang in there!

Everyone else, I've read the posts & I thank you all for the encouragement. Sorry I'm not up to typing much more but hoping to get back into the routine of replies soon.

The Phantom was wonderful. We went to dinner at a brewery down on Peachtree, and then walked to the Fox. You'd be so proud of me. As much as I wanted those garlic mashed potatoes, I exchanged them for Garlic spinach tath was DE-LISH! So I had grilled chicken, spinach and julienne carrots, zuccini and squash. I did splurge and have a LI Tea. It was really good.

I washed the car today, and have been running around cleaning. I guess that counts as some exercise. Trav and I are going to the Y when he gets home in an hour. I can't wait. It's our first time working out together.

MONET- Still on for monday?

Katpo- I make my own peanut butter with my food processor. That way I can make it chunky. Welcome to the best support group you'll ever find! :)I'm not tecnically sticking to SB, but they still love me here :D Thanks for posting that list. You jsut reminded me of a few thinks I like and have forgotten about....

Country- Welcome back.

Hey everyone! I am back from school. Boy, am I ever tired! I have 8883 steps so far today...and that is just walking around the school. The projects went well, and the kids had a great time, but I did have some trouble getting them to listen to directions. The oldest class was awful. Its unfortunate, because they really would like to learn to draw well, and I COULD teach them if they would quit goofing off and listen. I told them so, and I hope to see improvement next week.

Breakfast was: smoothie with water, coffee with half and half
Lunch: salad with almonds and gorgonzola cheese, chicken salad and triscuits.

Not sure whats for dinner...Sole filets I think.

My neighbor and her daughter (one of my students) is here to swim...so I am off to swim! Later!

Monet--Here's my theory on why students in church schools often are very difficult to handle (Believe me, I've taught Sunday school for years and the most difficult kids were in churches that were more "fundamental"). The more religious families keep a VERY TIGHT REIN on their children when they are at home or around their parents. These children sometimes are not given the opportunity or responsibility for managing their own behavior (if you get my drift) and so when they are away from their parent's influence, they tend to go a little wild because they have not learned how to handle that "freedom" on their own. I don't mean this at all to be disrespectful, and I admire parents who are fully invested in their children. I myself go to a "fundamental" church. That, actually, is where I formed my theory, because I had previously taught for many years at a church that was more "liberal" and where the parents were heavily involved in social functions away from their children. Anyway, something to think about. I have seen some amazing exceptions to my theory, which has gladdened my heart. Sorry you are having any problems at all with any of the children.

I am getting into Atlanta at 3:47 pm. next Tuesday, if my plane is not late. However, I have never flown into Atlanta where we were not in a holding pattern for a while. I'll have Wednesday basically free, and we are meeting my DH's cousin and her DH for dinner on Wed. night. We will be free Tuesday night, so if you have any suggestions for a good place to eat, I'm all ears. How far are you from Buckhead? Are any of you Atlanta girls near the MARTA station? I can always take the tube to meet you somewhere, if it is not dangerous. I'm hoping that there is a MARTA station near where I'll be staying, at the Hyatt Buckhead.

Well, my DH is home, so better sign off.

Hello all--A quick pop-in to say I'm still here. I've been sitting in front of this computer all day any must get away for awhile!

Frog--So glad to see you made it back!!! Love the tadpole--she's a real cutie.

Monet--Good luck with your class. It takes kids awhile to warm up to a new teacher. They like to test you to see how much they can get away with. Being firm, but positive (even when you want to smack them) will win out in the end. I think Gator is on to something too. I've seen this at the college level--the kids that had the tightest controls at home go the wildest at college. Their poor parents would be horrified. Kids always want to test boundaries so make sure yours are firm. If they really want to learn to draw after awhile that will be more important than testing you and you can get some real work done with them (it's great thing when it happens).

I wish I had time to respond to everyone else, but I've GOT to get out of this chair.

No time for replies right now. It's tub time for Kyle and Shelley wants help studying for a science test. I have her writing things down right now, so I have a sec.

Junior...is the most awesome dog EVER. He looks so funny all shaved, but he feels so wonderful and smells so good I can't stop hugging him and kissing him. He's probably wondering who I am and what I've done with his mommy. I'm usually shipping him outside because he's slobbery and smells like Cheetos. Don't know where he gets that stink from, but it's gross. But now he feels exactly like velour or velvet and he's so darn happy to have all those mats off him. He looks like a completely different dog...if it weren't for his one blue and one brown eye, I'd never know it was the same dog...until I throw his hula hoop out in the yard...then I know he's my Junior. I'll post his before/after pictures as soon as I figure out how to plug in my digital camera to my new computer. :dizzy: He's so funny, though...and he still has his sweet face, even though its about half the size it was this morning.

Oh...and Jack...HFCS is High Fructose Corn Syrup...I get sick of writing it out every time.

AND Kyle had his first school pictures taken today in preschool. He wore his cool red/white/blue hawaiian shirt and he looked so cute! Kyle and I had the most wonderful time today in the back yard without Junior there to run us over. As much as I love him, there is a huge benefit when he's gone for some reason and we can use the back yard Junior-free. Anyhow, Kyle and I played in his sandbox for two hours and made a huge construction site and mountains with bunny shapes on the side. When Junior is here, he runs laps around the back yard and runs through the sand box at about 60 mph while you're in it. I know, he's just playing with us, but it's really annoying. So, lots of nice memories in the sandbox today. Maybe we'll try it again tomorrow, but will tie Junior up to the set so he can be with us without playing the part of an F5 tornado!! I usually don't like to tie him up on his leash because he wines so much, but we should all be able to cohabitate in the backyard, don't you think?

Also...this hurricane season is really something else!! I'm watching Rita and my chin continues to drop at every update today. Another record breaker!! Wow... And my son's favorite state on his US puzzle is Idaho and he asked if Idaho is safe and I said, that I don't think Idaho has much of a problem with hurricanes. He's so cute. He likes Idaho because it's in a book called the Scrambled States of America (reeeally cute book anyone can probably get at the library for the preschool/elementary set!!) and it shows a picture of Idaho taking a shower and washing it's hair and it says, "Do you mind?!" You'd have to see it.

Okay...time to study things like cell formation and osmosis. :dizzy:

Happy Wednesday! Didnt get a chance to post yesterday. I just was having day that seemed to fly by too fast. Not much to report on. Doing great on the eating . Even though I didnt have a loss last week im sticking with the course. It so easy to get discouraged when you try so hard and nothing happens. But my 1/2 pounds here and there seem to come sparatic. So I just have to be patient.

Nat- Thanks for the info on your mom. I will definitly keep that in mind. I got slim in 6 from beachbody.com. The turbo jam looks like a tough workout woowee... :)

Tech- great to hear you got a better "deal" on your ticket!

Monet- I bet the kids will settle down after a bit when they know they wont get away with not listening. Im sure they are just testing you. That really sounds like fun. Art used to be one of my favorite classes. The other being choir..lol I wasnt excited about much else in school.

Well got to run here. I still need to post my food for tomorrow in fitday and get my lunch together.
Nigth all. :smug:

Dinner was sole filets cooked with a bit of cheese, and tomatoes sliced on top. I also fixed ww angel hair pasta, and a salad. I drank several glasses of wine, and I am a very cheap drunk...so I am feeling rather tipsy right now. :)

GATOR: That is an interesting theory. You know I used to be the first and second grade Sunday School director for my church...I did that job for over nine years, and wrote the curriculum. I had about 350 kids on my rolls. (large church! Very large...) I think that is a good theory. The kids who went to Public School were usually easier to manage than the private school kids. The kids that went to the church school were the worst. They were terribly cliquish, and not willing to open up and include others in their group. Much of what I deal with in the classroom with these kids I think stems from poor discipline in the classroom with their regular teacher. The first grade teacher is really good, and her class does better than the second grade. The second grade teacher moved up from kindergarten to second grade this year, and her class is by far the worst. The oldest kids are all sent at the same time...so I have fifth through seventh at once. Its a huge class...21...and they just can't seem to settle down at all. It will come eventually. I am seeing glimmers of budding excitment on the subject matter. Once they 'get it" the rest will be easy. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Tuesday night I have a meeting here, what time do you leave on Thursday? I could come down after school Wednesday, but I would not get there until 5ish.

I had several glasses of wine with dinner and I am feeling rather tipsy! I think I will go to bed! Night!

Is it Wednesday already? :dizzy: How can that be? My neice turned 16 today :hb: and the tadpole :bb: "Tad" is 5 months today too! How can that be?!?!?! My wonderful Wednesday is that they are both happy, healthy, beautiful girls.

Best OP day yet. Still doing the "eating too much cheese thing" to satisfy my craving for sweets. I did eat a few nutritous things including some homemade soup, an apple and yogurt.

:?: I know it's been a long time since I've been around, but I thought I read somewhere on a board that Cheerios were legal. Even though I know they are not in the version of the book and shopping guide I have, I thought Deb did some digging to discover they were ok. What's the latest on that?

It will take me a while to figure out what is going on with everyone and who is who, but I hope to eventually say a "hey" here and there to the folks I don't yet know.

It was wonderful to see posts from Fillise and Gator! Gator was here long before I showed up and I think Fillise joined after me. Is that right?

GATOR - I tend to agree with you somewhat on your theory regarding children's reactions to structure based on their discipline at home. We all know that kids will try you, and if they think they can get away with something, they will.

TECH - no L&D delivery war stories here. Had a scheduled-C section due to the medical battles I was fighting before delivery. Post-delivery I had a problem and was rehospitalized for several days. Those are my war wounds. But doesn't every woman who's had a child have a story? ;)

Saw a great recipe on tv this afternoon that had potatoes au gratain made with sweet potatoes!!! I am trying to find the recipe but can't locate the show yet. It looked totally yum and 100% legal. A great Thanksgiving substitute for a no-no dish.

Bought a pair of size 12 "goal pants" this evening. They were an incredible sale and something that I really wanted. Sooo, I went for it. I will now have those and my old "skinny jeans" in my closet to shoot for. When I began this lifestyle in 2000 I lost 15 pounds between Halloween and New Years without watching my fat or even exercising. I know I will do it differently this time and hope for at least that good of a result. Just don't know what this post-partum body will do yet. A girl has to have hope!!!

Does anyone here knit? I'm looking for a Christmas tree hat pattern I saw in a book. It was at B&N last year and I didn't buy it. Now I wish I had of.

Tomorrow is gonna be a busy one. Hope to have time to post!

Take care everyone!

Frog: You'll likely be hearing from Monet about knitting! And Talitha, I believe, spins her own yarn!! I'm a crocheter. I use a size N hook and two strands of yarn and whip through afghans galore that are nice and thick and cozy.

Quick question: Does anyone here take Super B Complex vitamins? And if you do, do you pee in flourescent yellow? And when you pee, does it have a strong Vitamin B odor to it? Gross, I know..but gosh, at first I thought I was sick! It's like I'm peeing antifreeze!!:o

Okay, for breakfast I had oatmeal with frozen blueberries, walnuts, milk and splenda...my 'deluxe' oatmeal. For dinner last night I had two chicken drumsticks with a 1/4 cantaloupe and some green beans and unsweetened applesauce. Shelley is down to six pounds lost. I've been letting her get away with white bread in her lunch, but I use SF jelly and NSA peanut butter still and include a nature valley granola bar, SF applesauce or cottage cheese and either carrot sticks or grapes. I think it's doing a lot of good for an example of what is healthy food. I suspect, though, that her girlfriends are smuggling in Doritos for her or trading her a granola bar for a bag of Doritos. Funny how the skinny girls are ditching their fattening food from their moms and pawning in off on my chubbette for her healthy food. Oh, well, I can only stear her in the right direction, I can't drive it for her.

Okay...have to run...talk to you guys later on...

Happy Thursday Chickies,

I didn't get home until 12:15 last night and I thought I would be :tired: today, but surprisingly I'm not. It will probably hit me later.

Tonight we are going to PF Chang's for dinner. I am going to check out the website to see what I can eat. I don't like much Chineese food, so it will be hard. We have a gift certificate and the kids have been wanting to go.

BF; ww mini bagle with 1T pb
lunch: salad, ham, cheese, turkey, apple
dinner: Chineese ?

Toni, glad you popped in. Now just stay here.

Country, Glad to hear from you too. We told you when you are struggling; the best place to be is here. Now listen up  How about you, are you in the path of Rita?

Melf, sorry you have been having shoulder pain. Hope you can get some relief soon.

Talitha, WTG passing up the potatoes. It is hard to do sometimes.

Gator, I fully agree with your theory and not only acting out in school but in all social events w/o supervision.

Susan, glad to hear from you.

Monet, sorry the kids were so bad for you. but as Susan said, they will test you to see how far they can get. Stay firm. Gator is right on too. It's not all about being a teacher, but you have to be a psychologist too.

Tech, Thanks for the definition. Now I'm in the loop. Glad Jr turned out so well. I take B6 and DH takes a Super B Complex. I take a Mega Woman (that's me) multi vitamin. I pee bright yellow ALL day. It is time release and it is amazing that it still is that dark late in the afternoons. That's great for your DD. Hope it motivates her to keep going.

Cindy, WTG sticking to plan. You will see a loss in the end (no pun intendend).

Frog, Cheerios are legal, but Monet says they have a higher GI. I don't know about cheese on sweet potatoes? Sounds a little strange.

Have a great day. Hope to check back later.

Whew... how I look forward to nap time!! Both of them are down, so I thought I would jump on really quick.

I finally updated my ticker. Even though it was a bit of a bummer, I'm going to keep working my buns off, really. Going to the Y has really motivated me. I feel so good!!

Monet- Monday won't work after all. Payday is NEXT Friday. I have a theory on Christian private schools, too. I managed theschool cafeteria at Mt. Paran for a year. 900 students. What I realized is that themajority of the kids are there for one of 3 reasons.
1. Their parents are 'afraid of the world' as Gator said. Which to me just shows that they aren't confident in their own parenting to trust the child.
2. Their parents are wealthy and interested in the 'prestige' of the school. Basically rich brats there.
3. The BIG PROBLEM... The kids were a problem in public school, and the parents are hoping that there will be more structure to fix them at private.
Understandably, this is NOT 100% of the kids, but I found that all of the problem kids fell into one of these. Anyway, I don't really have a point...

Monet/ Gator- What If I pick gator up and bring her your way to meet right after you get out of school? Then we won't have traffic? I don't know....

Frog- I'm so happy we have another knitter in the group!! Monet and I are crazy. We hardly ever put it down... Don't have nay patterns like that, though. HAve you tried to google it? Yep, I'm a geek. I love to spin with my wheel. Haven't had time in awhile.

Tech- I get that with any type of vitamin. It's really weird till you get used to it. I feel like a science experiment with all of the vitamins I take. About 30 tablets a day to swollow!!!

Jack- PF CHANGS IS AWESOME!!! They serve steamed brown rice. There is soooo mcuh you can have there. It's one of our favorites.

OK ya'll, I live about 20 miles inland from Intracoastal City which is where you see the "arch" of the boot when you look at the map. We are now under a mandatory evacuation notice as of this morning but I just don't want to leave. We faired well through Andrew & Lillie with very little damage to our home & feel that if it continues on a westerly path that we'd be ok. You just never know until it's sometimes too late & Rita doesn't seem to know where she's headed.

So I will be in touch when I can.

Good afternoon everyone! I spent three hours pouring over school supply catalogs trying to decide what I can afford to get on my dismal budget. Anyone want to donate about $500 to my art program?

MELF: Oh, dear! I will be praying for you. Keep in touch as best you can!

TALITHA: Gator is supposed to have dinner with some cousin or something Wednesday night, so that doesn't work out well. I unfortunately have a mandatory meeting I have to attend Tuesday evening. Lets see if we can work something out for Tuesday afternoon....

GATOR: What time do you get in on Tuesday? How I wish you were having dinner with the relative on Tuesday...then there would be no problem with meeting up Wednesday night. :( PM me your schedule and let me see what I can work out.

FROG: I knit! I knit! (I am terrible at reading patterns tho!) Check the library! I have found tons and tons of knitting patterns and books at the library. As for Cheerios...essentially, they are legal in ingredients, but they have a high (~70) GI according to the lists I have seen. I stopped eating them when I saw that. I believe the book recommends staying under 35...at least I know Montignac does, and Sugarbusters was based on his book.

Ok, I need to go get something done. Today has been most unproductive!

My DH and I went out to eat at a French restaurant tonight. It was good. I have spent all day both working on our Sunday school lesson for this sunday (our adult class is just starting the book of Hosea and I am the teacher, with my DH's help) and also writing a letter, in French, to our friends in Limoges. I am several months overdue in writing, and just HAVE to get this done. It is not easy to write letters with sentences that are more than a 1st grade level, as I have to look for a number of words in my dictionary. Also, the French tend to express things differently than we English speakers do, so I have to figure that out too. It usually takes me a day to do a good letter.

Monet and Talitha, I get in to Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon, and am supposed to arrive at ATL at 3:47 pm. I am not checking any bags. If I remember, the airport is on the southwest side of Atlanta? My schedule is totally free except for one thing: my DH and I are having dinner with his cousin and her husband on Wed. night. They are driving in from Carrollton, GA. I have no idea where we are eating, but they are picking because he knows the restaurant "scene" in Atlanta. We are dining with them on Wed. because they could not come Tuesday. My DH has made these arrangements with them so I don't know any details. Our plane leave ATL for Orlando on Thursday at 2:45 pm. and I know we will have to be there early to get through the "frisking" lines out there. We probably will leave around noon or soon after. We won't have a car as we both are taking the MARTA to our hotel.
I certainly don't want to be a burden to anyone or their schedule and I know life keeps everyone so busy now. It would be a bit sad, though, to be there in Atlanta and not get to see y'all, especially since we talked about it a while back. However, if it doesn't work out, well, it just doesn't work out. Again, we can always pray that the Gators win out in the SEC east and go to the SEC championship game in Atlanta the first weekend in Dec. If that happens, we definitely will be there. We probably would drive up then and stay in the Virginia Highlands section of town. However, things may be very busy for everyone then, too. Who knows. And the Gators may not get to that game. Who knows. Anyway, plan B for me would be to start my Christmas shopping or to use that totally free time for some studying.

I got an e-mail from Mary (Melf) and hope they have made the right decision. It must be so frustrating for people attempting to evacuate from town possibly affected by Rita to have to sit in traffic for 10-12 house and not get very far.
Country--Hope everything goes really well for you there in TX, and that you get no damage. What part of TX are you in?
It makes me wonder when I notice so many big storms in one year. Hmmm. I wonder if there is a message for us here. Since I'm studying the book of Hosea I'm of that "mode" right now.

Well, I'm gonna check out now. CSI is on and my DH keeps calling me to come watch.

Busy but fun day for us girls. We had a lunch date followed by a little shopping. Made dinner (see recipe) and have been knitting while watching the tube. Current knitting project is some ruby red slippers, complete with sparkle, for "Baby Girl." I just finished a cute little dress that will become a tunic as she grows and I made her a pumpkin hat that is tooo much!

I'm sooo psyched :dancer: that I found the pattern I was looking for. I had to look through 510 posibilities on Barnes & Noble's website, but I found it!!!

MELF - We were posting at the same time. Glad that you've made the decision to get out and sooo happy that you have someone who will take your precious pooches too. God speed honey! Prayers for you from me. :goodluck:

MONET - if you don't mind my asking... what type of work do you do? It sounds as if you just started a new job. So glad to know that you knit too! How in the world do you cope with not knowing how to read a pattern? I see all these things I want to knit and get frustrated that I don't know how to (intarsia and fair isle) that this frog would croak if I couldn't read a pattern for the projects I CAN complete. I want to take a class for the 2 techniques I just mentioned. I can read patterns from eons of watching my mom sew and from knowing how to read crochet patterns. It isn't hard at all, you should try it. If you know how to knit and purl then you're good to go! Looking at the library is a good idea. I'll give that a whirl next time. Thanks for suggesting it. Would be happy to give you a pattern tutorial anytime you want. :) It really is easy!

TALITHA - is it hard to spin? There is a great yarn shop that teaches spinning and has supplies for it. It is my ultimate goal to knit something from yarn I've spun. Is it cheaper to make your own yarn than to buy it? Our weights are pretty close. Perhaps we can be good motivational buds? If it makes a difference, I'm originally a Georgia peach. ;)

MEL - Congrats on meeting your goal. I bet "you rook mah-va-lus!"

SOLLY - PF Changs is a favorite eatery for me and dh! It's so great the way they have the "training table" menu because it's easier to see the protein and carb contents.

TECH - I'm a crocheter too! I do whatever suits me at the moment. I learned to knit 2 years ago but have been a crocheter for about 12 years. I'm glad that I can do both because there are times when one is sooo much better than the other depending on what you're making. With all the cooool yarns on the market now it's just fun to play with one of them and make something! The last thing I crocheted was a blanket for the baby while I was pregnant. I never found a crib quilt I liked so I whipped up one in cotton in the nursery colors. And no, I didn't know what I was having so it isn't pink! :D

GATOR - have fun on your trip.

Tonight's dinner recipe is very much like Chicken and Rice from Cracker Barrel. It's quick and easy!

Mushroom Chicken and Rice :chef:
4-6 boneless chicken breasts or the same weight in Tenders
2 cans of cream of celery soup (reduced fat works well)
2 tablespoons of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
2-4 oz jars of sliced mushrooms
salt and pepper to taste

When the chicken is on begin preparing your rice.

Bake 425 for 45-60 minutes or until tender. You can also make this in the crockpot - cook on low 7 hours. I personally think it's better slow-cooked, but the oven works when you forget to put it on before you leave home Mmmmmm.

One tip - if you're using white rice (which I'm sure you would be preparing for someone else and in no way would consider eating a grain of! :tape: ) you can cook it in the slow cooker. I tried to put the brown rice in the slow cooker and it was still a little crunchy. I may try to cook my rice then add it to the crockpot next time.

Have a good night everyone. Catch you on the flip side!

FROG: I am learning on the patterns...but I tend to stick to squares and rectangles. I am very easily distracted, and counting stitches ends up being rather frustrating! I am sure it will get better. I learned to knit years and years ago, but just picked it back up again about three or four months ago. I am making afghans for my sisters, and mother in law for Christmas, and scarves for all my nieces and nephews. Thankfully, they all live in the Chicago area, so a scarf is an essential part of their wardrobe. :) I think it would be fun to learn to knit socks and mittens...gloves look too hard. Intricate patterns scare me, but I am getting better. I am so glad you found the pattern you were looking for. Have you checked out the yarn manufacturers' websites? Lion Brand, and Coats and Clark, and Caron all have nice web sites with patterns, tips, etc. I did just start a new job. I am teaching art at a small private school. I have my degree in art ed, so I was really excited to get this job. Art teaching jobs in schools are hard to come by. I taught private lessons, and classes for homeschoolers through the years, but having a regular classroom, and students is new to me, and fun! For years I was the Sunday School director for first and second grade at my huge church, and I have missed working with kids. I have some blisters from being back in the saddle again, but they will heal!

Good day everyone:

We will be leaving in a little while for Lane's tumbling class. This week has been so busy; I'm glad that the weekend is here! I will go to the gym tomorrow a.m., and Britt has a birthday party to go to tomorrow night, so I will have to pick up a gift card after working out tomorrow a.m., and a card.

I have done pretty well with exercise this week:
Monday - Gym
Tuesday - Turbo Jam - 45 minute session
Thursday - Turbo Jam - Sculpt
Friday - Today, I will walk the track with my weighted vest while Lane tumbles
Saturday - Gym

Next week, I won't get as much exercise in....I have to volunteer in Lane's class on Tuesday, and then they are both out of school on Thursday & Friday.

I weighed this morning, and was 120.5#. I started taking the L-Carnitine again, and think that really helps accelerate my weight loss. I also am not being strict on "what" I eat, but paying much closer attention to how much I eat. If I want something, I will eat it, but much less than what I normally would. It seems to help me more. Having my dinner on a salad plate instead of a dinner plate has helped tremendously....and eating much slower and enjoying my food helps too. I am usually eating breakfast as I am packing lunches, tying shoes, fixing hair, etc....I think it is important to try to enjoy the food.

I thought there was someone else on here who couldn't eat wheat??? I found a place on line called Berlin Bakery, and they make spelt products. I ordered some stuff from them, and have been pleasantly surprised. You can get the sprouted spelt, or the unbleached white spelt. I got both, since Britt and I are both allergic to wheat. They have hot dog buns, which are great because they look more like a breadstick and would fit a hot dog in perfectly; there's always wasted bun with hot dogs, as well as smaller size hamburger buns. I also got some zucchini bread and cookies and crackers. You keep the bread in the freezer, and just take a few slices out and place in a baggie on your counter, and they don't fall apart or anything, and they taste good. I will order from them again, but not so much at once since the shipping was too high (they want to ship it fresh). The bread is organic and pure.

My old gym officially closed their doors; they had a vacate notice from the property landlord since they hadn't paid their rent. I still haven't rec'd final confirmation from the credit card company that they are going to refund my money. I sure hope they do.

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! I am praying for all of you in the path of this horrible storm; I cannot believe we have another one so soon after Katrina. COUNTRY, MELF, AND anyone I might have forgotten, please let us know how you are doing once the storm has passed.

Take care,
Nat

The kidos are napping. I'm bummed. THe guy from the gym cancelled on us. We'll go do cardio anyway. I just feel weird about the machines without some coaching. We were both looing forward to it all week.

I went to a new thrift store, the 'Nearly New' shop on Howell Mill. It's great! the moajority of their stuff is name brand. I got 2 Anne Taylor Loft sweaters for $7 ea. One was 78% silk. I got Trav an American Eagle sweater for $5. It was great!! That's where I'll be shopping when I go down in sizes!! There were a couple Neiman MArcus tops I wanted, but decided to hold off till I lose osme weight to see what's available in the smaller sizes...

Pancho- Jacob can't eat wheat. Or dairy, soy, peanuts, tomatoes, rye, baking soda or yeast. I'll check it out and see if they have anything he can eat. I'm getting frantic now that he's 9 mos. old and ready for table food. I'vew been experimenting with my own ezekiel breads, but haven't had much success yet.

I went and did my volunteer stint at the church office. The roller coaster of 'things' that I mentioned a few weeks ago has hit a dive and I am feeling horribly stressed out. I actually ate a snack today...which as you all know, is a big no no for me. I had a bag of Smart Balance popcorn, and some macadamia nuts. Then, I had a bowl of shredded wheat with some kind of vanilla filling. PANCHO, I try and avoid wheat, as it really bothers me, so I was really off track with that. I also try and avoid dairy as it bothers me too. Needless to say, it was NOT a goodafternoon. :( And the worst thing is that I am STILL feeling very stressed and if I go down into the kitchen, I am going to start looking for something to eat! I am NOT hungry! I am NOT hungry! (trying to convince myself!)

I think I will go read or take a nap. I plan to hang out up here in the bedroom and plug my ears to the 'stuff' calling to me from the kitchen!

Spent most of the day in bed with a migraine. DH had to come home from work to help with the baby because I was getting nauseous and dizzy. Thankfully we have friends, a married couple, that are a chiroprator and a massage therapist. When I am desperate I can call and they will see me. It really helped so much. I've suffered with migraines off and on since my late teens. I was one of those folks who didn't have trouble with them during my pregnancy, thank heavens because I had enough other "pleasures," but now that I'm having periods again I seem to get one during my cycle. Hope this is a pattern that will end with weight loss.

Speaking of weight loss, I'm hoping that the scale will be kind to me on Monday. I tend to see a dip just after my time of the month (TOM). We'll see.

Supposed to go the a baby shower in the morning for a person from church who recently adopted. Will have to see how I feel first.

Board is slow today. Where is BOB?

MONET - I love to knit socks. After I learned the basics of knitting I began making socks. My DH loves them. I made mittens but no gloves as of yet. Thanks for the tips on the other places for patterns. I always try find cool free ones and the lady at the yarn store told me about sites like Berrocco that have beautiful free patterns made from things with their yarn. My only problems are time to knit, trying to choose something and money for yarn! It's amazing what yarn costs. I hope folks who receive a hand made item appreciate not only the time and talent, but also the expense. We all know we buy a sweater cheaper than we can make one! Hope you are enjoying your job. Hey! We all have an off moment now and then. Hang tough!

TALITHA - What a deal! I got some "goal clothes" yesterday that I hope to be able to wear to Miss Baby's christening in early December. Wish I'd been shopping with you! Sorry to hear your little one is allergic to so many things. I hope the tadpole can eat a variety. I am getting ready to try her on rice cereal for the first time. Should be high adventure! Our associate pastor's son is allergic to many things too. At church he wears a little card on his shirt that has his name and all the things he's allergic to so that well-meaning folks won't offer him cookie after church! How did you disocver all these allergies at such an early age? Tests?

PANCHO - Hello!

Well it's bed time (again). Going to try to drink a bit of water before climbing in the sack.

Here is my FRIDAY FUNNY
Knock-knock!
Whos' there?

Oliver who?
Oliver troubles will soon be over.

Let's hope that true for our friends in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Hi everyone. Just a quick stop by. I had a weird week. Been kinda depressed ( dont really know why) Maybe its a combination of trying so hard to lose and worried about that dr appt I had last Monday. Dont know. But am hoping to snap out of this mode soon. Good news. I lost 1/2 a pound this week ( thats 1/2 pound loss for two weeks) Not as much as Id like but better than nothing.(Im now at my ticker amount . Since it wont do half pounds I was at 207.5. ) I stuck to my guns and got another week of 6 days straight of exercise in.
Have a wonderful weekend and hope to be able to post more later.

Cindy, you are doing so great!! :balloons: You have been persistent and even though your loss is "only" 1/2 pound, it is a loss and you are continuing to go in the right direction. Keep up the good work. And don't forget that you have a bunch of cheerleaders and encouragers, not only for your weight loss, but also for you health and doctor visit.

MELF--We are all so glad you hightailed it out of your town, because Rita went further east. Do you live in the Lake Charles area? Hope you and your DH and all your dogs are safe and dry and that things will be good when you get home.

Monet--I think the snacks you had yesterday just prove that you are human. None of us are perfect. If we were, we wouldn't be struggling with our weight, even if some of our extra pounds are a result of pregnancy, hypothyroidism, depression, etc. etc. One day we won't have to fiddle with watching our weight, but in the meantime, we thank you for being our moderator and starting us off each week with encouragement and resolve.

Frog--It is so nice to see you back. I remember that you used to do a lot of running. Do you still get in a lot of exercise?

Talitha--It's always great to find a wonderful store that has good prices and lots of stuff you like to wear. Sorry the trainer cancelled on you. That must have been annoying. Hope he keeps his appt. this coming week.

I'm going shopping for a wedding dress with my DD today. She is quite a bit overweight so I'm hoping that we can find a dress with nice sleeves and that is elegant yet simple. It is supposed to be a very small wedding, just family and a few friends, so a simple dress probably will be most appropriate. We are now hoping that they can get married in the actual church rather than here in our home. In Jan. that would be a lot simpler. Then my DH and I would just pay for a small reception at the club where my DH plays golf. I want to keep this simple and easy. As far as her intended, he continues to live here, and, of course, when someone lives with you, you get to see more of what they are like. He still reminds me of a teenager: late to bed and late to get up. Oh well, SHE's the one marrying him, not me!

My weight is still at 164, and I haven't gained or lost this week. I have been a little lower on the exercise and have gotten in about 8500 to 9500 steps per day. I have done my 2 mile route 5 days this week, and did weight training 2X, but have been doing a lot of studying, both French and for the class we teach on Sundays. Sitting in front of the computer doesn't give me many steps!! :)

Well, I need to go fix something for breakfast and clean up the kitchen. Just didn't feel like it last night. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning! I woke up really early, and almost got up then. Instead I tossed and turned a bit, and finally fell back asleep for a few hours. I rolled out of bed and hit the floor running. I have fixed breakfast, helped make espresso, cleaned up the kitchen a bit (GATOR, like you, I did not feel like it last night! :) ) and studied my new book on teaching drawing to young kids. Tom is packing to go camping for the night, and I am considering what I want to do while he is gone. :s:

Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs, espresso with half and half, and a small dab of grits. (not legal, but a rare treat)

GATOR: I am still thinking through what to do next week. I may skip the meeting, and try and come meet you Tuesday. I think that works for Talitha as well. I do have your phone number, so I will try and call you, if that is ok.

FROG: Time to knit is a problem for me right now too! :) My best knitting time is in church, during the sermon. The pastor teases me about not listening, but I actually can listen better with my hands busy. I guess that is why counting stitches is so hard for me! :) I found tons of patterns at Lion Brand. And for cheap yarn, I found Knitter's Warehouse. I found stuff there cheaper than any local store. Smiley's yarn online is super cheap, but they are all closeouts so their color selection is not great. Do you have any Hobby Lobbys near you? They run specials a lot. Their Yarn Bee brand has some super yarns. The scarf I am knitting for my daughter right now feels like bunny fur! Its their Lucious line from Yarn Bee. I found they have it in black..and I am sorely tempted to buy enough to make myself a shawl out of it. I am making the afghans out of Red Heart Light and Lofty. I do like BIG, FAST knitting! BOB is around...she just posts sporadically. Her job, football and her mom take up a lot of her time. She breezes through on the weekends usually.

CINDY: Congrats on that 1/2 a pound...if you continue that rate, you will lose over 25 in a year! Not bad at all! I love your new avatar!

TALITHA: Good going on the thrift store buys! Bummer on the trainer.

Guess I ought to go get something done. I am such a slacker!

IT'S FOOTBALL SATURDAY IN THE SEC!!!!!

MISSY said her Sister who lives in Lafayette stayed home and was fine. I'm thinking that Mary and Thurman will head back home today.

OK....TODAY WAS BEAT MISSY DAY but our game has been moved to Monday night at 7:30 on ESPN 2

SO...today will become GO CATS....BEATGATOR DAY!!!

WHILE I DON"T THINK THAT "THEM DAWGS" WILL HAVE A HARD TIME WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE , Y'all can ask SUSAN about how MS STATE kept up with AUBURN...I still say it was the BEST GAME SO FAR THIS SEASON....

SPEAKING OF SUSAN.... SHE WILL BE IN A TWIST TODAY AS NC STATE PLAYS NC.....

I'm off for now...

Debbie got this message from MELF:

Mary called after I spoke with you. Her home appears to be okay, her daughter went to check on it -said she has flooding in the yard, but appears to be no damager to the house. Her daughters trailer got damaged, but nothing that can't be fixed. They have no electricity where they are staying but do have water. They probably won't go back to their house til tomorrow, if they can get back, they don't have any idea what lies between where they are and home.

BACK TO THE GAME!!!

BOB--Hey, Big Orange, it is SO GREAT to "see" you, and we certainly have missed you. Just like you, I'm parked in front of the TV watching college football. (Guess which game ;) )
We all are hoping that things are better for you at work.

To the Wildcat, I have to say that Ky. is not doing horribly with losing 6--SIX- count'em 6--of their starters to injuries. That's really tough for a team. Although the Gators are pounding them right now, I think the loss of those starters has made a huge difference to the team, not to mention the fewer scholarship players because of the fallout from the NCAA over the Mumme infractions.

The Gators are looking good right now, and I hope they just keep improving and reach the potential that Meyer holds out for them by the time they play LSU and the Dawgs. It'd be so cool to whip up on UGA again this year. :) We are definitely going to Jacksonville to watch that game.

Well, half-time is about over. Gotta go.
Oh, about the wedding shopping trip: we had good luck with invitations, have the selection down to two and it depends on what the clerk finds out from the invitation company. As far as the dress, yikes, it's a madhouse out there. Also, almost all the dresses were these GOWNS, long, full, very ornate, and looking very "bridal." My DD wants a simple, possibly tea length dress that costs less than $200. She says she knows she could get down to a size 12 easily, but just has to want it enough to do it. So we will still be looking, and may find something in a couple of months when the dresses for the Christmas parties start showing up in the stores. Also, I know how to sew, so we could always make one. I'll keep you posted.

I didn't walk this morning. So far, have only 4500 steps.

We're back! and we had a great time! The waves were really crashing by the end of the week and the beach was totally closed on Thursday, but we still had fun at the pool!

We went to Riverfest today and watched Rachel's dance group perform! they were awesome! Of course I'm not prejudiced at all! LOL! She is in the junior group now, one step down form their top senior level. She's only 11 and in the sixth grade, so I'm in no hurry for her to move up again. There is plenty of time before that graduating senior solo in the annual spring recital.

The middle school band (Sean) is supposed to have a performance next Saturday, but with school being cancelled Mon and Tues I don't know if they are still planning to go. We normally have practice after school on Tuesdays, so we'll see. Our Governor asked for schools to close two days this coming week to help conserve gas. I think most school systems have announced that they will comply. We are using two of our severe weather days for this, so hope we do not get a blizzard this winter! I really do not want to have to make these days up come spring break!

well, I'll go now, time for bed...still recovering from vacation!

I just got in a little while ago. I went to play dominoes with some friends. We played a game called Chicken Foot that was pretty fun. I lost horribly, but I got over it. I ate a couple small whole wheat chocolate chip cookies and had a cup of coffee while there. The coffee was to help me get home safe. :) The cookies were another story. At least they were whole wheat...but she did put sugar in them.

I came home to an empty house. Not sure where the 'kids' are, but they were both out when I left, and have not gotten in yet. At least the cats where happy to see me!

Good day:

I know I'm not usually on the computer much on the weekends, but was on for a little while, and thought I'd drop in.

I took Britt to a birthday party for one of the boys in her class; she has known him since kindergarten, and she is the only girl he invited. She had fun playing baseball, eating pizza and cake, and hanging out with all the boys. It was cute. Lane and dad went to Peter Piper Pizza for an evening out while we were gone. I was BAD last night....I had one slice of pizza and a piece of cheescake with cherry topping. I also drank a 24-oz smoothie on the way there (that was supposed to be a meal replacement). I was up to 122# this morning, but hope to be down at least a pound tomorrow; if not...I'll get there sometime this week.

Today is cleaning and laundry day, so we will be staying close to home. I made pancakes (wheat-free) this morning for BF, and then the girls and I went for a walk before it got too hot.

I don't know if I mentioned that I went and talked to an old friend, who owns a gym, and he is going to help me get certified as a personal trainer. I am going to start going through the process soon, so I can work part-time next year, and then work into full-time when Lane starts 1st grade. He lets the trainers set their own rates/schedules...they are self-employed, but they pay him rent to use their gym. He won't charge me rent, but will still let me train there. It is about an hour from home, but I can at least do that for a few years to get my feet wet and get the experience that I need. He will even print out 1000 flyers when I am ready and distribute them around the area, offering clients 3-6 month free memberships, if they sign up for training with me. I am going to only charge $40 per hour when I start, and then I can raise that rate up to $50 per hour in six months or so, and go up from there if/when I feel comfortable doing so. I am doing as much studying and research as I can, and I will take the required test, and get CPR certified and get liability insurance before I start. I will keep you posted; I am pretty excited!

Talitha: Wow, Jacob sounds a lot like Brittany; I just didn't know at that age what her allergies were. We are hoping Britt will outgrow some of hers, and her homeopathic doctor is giving her drops on a daily basis to help build up her immunity and tolerances to those allergens. She is allergic to probably 40 different foods...i.e; she can have chicken but not turkey, she is allergic to several fruits, wheat, wheat gluten, dairy, corn, peanuts, and has to stay away from yeasts and sugars since she was on an inhaler that caused her body to develop a lot of yeast. The only thing I can say about finding out about those allergens early is he hasn't been able to get "used" to certain foods, and it won't be a big "change" for him going to something new. Britt started drinking rice milk when she was about 4 yrs. old, and it was a little bit of a transition...but they have original, vanilla and chocolate rice milk. I even have Lane drinking it (because I am still not convinced that cow's milk is good for human consumption). They have Rice Dream ice cream as well, so she doesn't feel so deprived. It does get tougher as they get older though; it seems like kids are always bringing cupcakes or goodies to school that contain things Britt shouldn't be eating; at least her symptoms are not life-threatening. The Berlin Bakery has an Ezekial break without wheat. Pamela's has some awesome stuff that taste really good and is wheat and gluten free. We get a brownie mix that you can make brownies, cakes, or even cookies with, and the entire family loves it. I just made pancakes with Pamela's mix this morning and they were delicious. Amy's has some good gluten-free cookies as well. I am starting to eat more of that now to stay away from the wheat. On a scale of 1-100, I came up as a 300 on wheat allergies, and 80 on dairy. SO, I guess I know where Britt got it from. Good luck with all that; it's not easy, but it can be done.

Monet: I find that my IBS symptoms are so much better when I stear clear of wheat and dairy. Sorry you had a down day and turned to food. Although what you ate wasn't so bad. We eat the Smart Balance popcorn too, but I read an article the other day that kinda bummed me out. It said that a lot of people who are claiming "no trans fats" in their foods are using date oil, which is a saturated fat, and has more damaging affects than trans fats. I checked my Smart Balance popcorn, and there it was. Gheez, there's always something!

Frog: I have heard that a lot of migraines are hormone related. I sure hope you are feeling better today! Maybe you are also having a little bit of sugar withdrawal, since you are still in your first week.

Cindy: I hope you found your way outta that funk. I will keep praying for healthy results for you.

Gator: I sure hope you are able to find a dress your dd likes; it's tough finding just the right one. Maintaining is better than gaining. You'll see another loss soon, I am sure. Your eating has been good, and you are good about getting your exercise in.

BOB: Howdy! How's work? Does Missy still have those 2 Foster children? How's that going for her? Thanks for the update on Melf! I am so glad she didn't sustain any damage to her home.

Thin: Welcome back. I hope you are getting some rest!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Missy had to give the children back to their Father. It just about killed her to do it because she knew what kind of life they were in for. She doing fine though. She's really been busy with all the "after the storm stuff"

Howdy ya'll. This time it wasn't my fault not being at the board. :) We still have no power at my house but mama's came back on yesterday late so I'm over here cooling off. I can't tell ya'll how nice it was to get a shower. We were finally able to get some gas also. Being on the clean side of the storm was enough to know I never want to be on the dirty side. The wind sounds around 3 were just crazy. Our neighbors lost some trees but their homes were okay. The sweet lady I walk with thought she would be safe in the local motel but the roof came off and she was huddled in the corner as pieces of the sheetrock were falling around her.

I don't know when we will have power again. They say anything from 2 days to 2 weeks. We are blessed and praying for the others effected. Mama has a brother missing in Lake Charles but since they haven't reported any deaths I told her he is probably just somewhere he can't reach her. The rest of the family we know for sure was evacuated.

Ya'll take care and I'll be back to the board when I can. I'm sure I didn't lose this week....I was a munch monster. :)

Love and hugs,
Crystle
