Hi everyone. We returned home yesterday afternoon. Had a great trip, ate our way through Memphis! Not to mention all the walking we did. I got on the scale first thing this morning to find that I lost .5 !!! I had a feeling, I mean, we walked everyday, everywhere. When the weather became unbearable, it was in the 90's w/75% humidity, we jumped on the trolley. At any rate, we had such a good time together with no distractions......except for the food! LOL
Myra, I was very happy to see that you started a journal thread..you'll see me there. I had toyed with the idea of beginning one last week, but didn't want to start it and then leave on vacation. Thanks. :)
Dianne, congratulations to Alana on her graduation. Yes, this will be a bittersweet summer for you all. Once she's safely tucked away at college, you and your husband will learn to absolutely love being empty-nesters! ;)
Essie, Terri, what are e-tools? It sounds like it's for me if it doesn't involve going to meetings every week. Can you explain?
I'll check in later, most likely. We went out to dinner w/Joey last night, didn't even unpack yet.

Jen, welcome back. Exercise always helps. It's great that you lost instead of gained while on vacation. As soon as I sign off I'm going to do a Step Aerobics tape instead of going to the gym. I'll be out most of today. I have to buy Pete a Father's Day gift & maybe get a manicure. Happy to hear you had a good time ;)
Terri will be able to explain ETools cause she's a member. You can check it out at www.weightwatchers.com

Jen, congrats on the loss. It is hard when you've been away. Glad you'll join in on the journal thread. I find I do a lot better when I post it. Forces me to journal and to stay within points.
Hope everyone's having a great day.

That is wonderful Jen. Losing on vacation is GREAT!
I hope to do that too when I go next week.
e-tools is on ww.com and you have to get a pamphlet at your center with an access code. Then you are able to join. I only use it because I only go to 1 meeting a month. Britts and I weigh each other so I still want to lose to set an example. So now I am paying $11 (meeting) and $9.50 (e-tools) a month. If I went to all my meetings in a given month there is no way I would pay it but it is a good investment for now. Keeps me motivated. If you go on the ww site you can take a tour.
Enjoy your manicure Essie!
See ya there later Myra. I probably won't eat until 10:00

Welcome back Jen - sounds like ya'll had a great time (lol). Great job on the loss after vacation, that always feels good. Thanks for the congrats on Alana and I'm sure your'e right about the "emptynester" thing. Willie's already talking about going on a cruise later this year while she's at college, lol - he's not wasting any time.
Essie - good job on going to the gym so much. You must be feeling good.
Hi to everyone - and Happy Father's Day to all the hubby's and Dads out there. My husband is easy to buy for - tickets to a concert and he's in heaven, :smug:
Talk to yous later.

Good Evening Y'all ~ what are you's up to tonight? Not much here.....just relaxing after a long and strssful week. Hubby will be doing his usual tomorrow.....golf.....and I'm going to go into the office to get some work done. I just have to because I can't get anything done during the week ~ what with busy phones and people, I love Saturday mornings when no one is around. I get 3 work days worth of work done in 1 4 hr Saturday. Really!
Jen ~ losing weight on vacation.....holy canoli, that's wonderful! you say you ate your way through Memphis but I'll bet you didn't do badly at all. Wow, I'm impressed with a loss over a vacation. I'm proud of ya. :)
Hi to everyone else......gotta run. Have a wonderful evening

Hi Everybody:wave:
Zoe, what do you do? I'm a secretary & have to handle a switchboard sometimes & then my own Disability calls. When I get home & the phone rings I let the answering machine pick it up unless it's David(my son) or family. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE PHONES!! I was checking out the WW.com site & you can join for a little money. It comes out much cheaper than going to the meetings. I just might join being that it's so hard for me to get to the meetings. Are you still going to the gym?
Dianne, my son is 30 yrs old & he left home at 22 yrs old. Would you believe I still miss him. I see him all the time & we talk on the phone everyday but I miss his presence. The only thing I don't miss was the sleepless nights waiting for him to come home. He never stayed out all night but when he was out with a girl or coming home from a club it would be dawn. We've always been very close. He's my buddy!
I'm sure you'll miss Alana ALOT but it will be pretty cool for you & Willie:D
Terri, I hadn't been to the WW site in a while & I spent some time checking it out last night. I like it alot. Thanks for letting me know.
When the weather is very humid I feel so bloated I can't even get my rings off. Does that happen to anyone else? It's been so humid the last couple of days I can't stand it. I love Fall & Spring but hate the summer.
I decided I'm buying Pete running sneakers. I saw a nice pair of New Balance. I'm also taking him out for breakfast.
Have a great day :)
Love
Essie
PS HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the hubbies. :)

Hi Y'all ~ ~ just checking in before leaving for work. :( I'm getting a later start than I had wanted. I wanted to be outta here by 8am and here it is, 9am and I'm just now ready to go. Oh well.....guess I don't have a time to be there since it's not a work day, huh? :)
Essie ~ I work for a software company in the healthcare industry. I do billing for DME (durable medical equipment) to Medicare. I'm a manager and sometimes feel over worked. (ha!!) We have a customer service dept for this part of the business and the phones have been crazy the last few weeks. So today, I will go in, not turn my phone on and be able to do all my billing that I need to do. I really can get so much done on a Saturday when no one is around. I haven't had to go in on a Saturday in a long time but this will make my Monday so much less stressful. Hey, maybe less stress will cause less eaing
Well, hello to all of you ~ I will be back later. I'm off to the office...........

Essie,
I thought I was having fluid build up and was dying. I hope it is the humidity. It is horrible. I hate how my fingers feel.
I think we will always miss our babies. :( Yours sounds like a sweetie.
I was considering joining the ww site on there instead of meetings. I don't know. I will see which I like better after vacation.
Dianne,
What concert are you going to? My moms friend's son lives in New York and he got her tickets to see The Producers and she is flying up. That is one play I want to see. Have fun.
My sister is surprising Brittany and I with Backstreet boy tickets. Bruce told me because he knew I would want to go down to my moms on Friday morning instead of Sat. This way I will go with the flow. She will be ecstatic. We went to 2 in 99'. You should see me keeping her away from their tour schedule on the BSB site.
We are going to Cincinnati for 4 days (Bruce has a conference- NASA will then pay for our gas) and it is just a coincidence that our families live there and we were going there anyway. I will take them to the Cincinnati zoo and a few places around the riverfront and swim a lot.
It will be a nice 4 day vacation before we get involved with the family issues. We are leaving Monday and then going into Columbus on Thursday. We will go to the concert Friday and Bruce and the boys will leave and drive 3 hours to the parents homes and then Sat. morning we will leave and go down there for my nephew's graduation party.
Brittany doesn't know so anytime I am on here I will have to tell her she is to young to read what we were saying. She gets grossed out when I say that.
I am pulling for you Patti. It will come back. I think these things move in waves. Sometimes it takes us longer to reach the shore again. I will need help when I get back. This vacation (2 weeks)
will pull me out into international waters.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Fathers Day!!!!!

Hello Ladies :)
Terri, This heat really is a bummer. I have my AC on so I'm pretty comfortable for now. I did some shopping earlier & I couldn't wait to get home. The stores were so crowded. People should be at the beach not the stores. My niece loves the BSB's. She's been to two concerts. Happy to hear Brittany's going. She deserves it :) Bring some cotton for your ears or Tylenol for a headache. They scream so much I bet they can't even talk the next day. That is really nice of your sister. You'll have a great time.
Myra, I've been drinking water all day. I don't feel as bloated as I did yesterday. How's hubby feeling?
Zoe, I hope you got alot accomplished today so Monday will be less stressful.

Good for you Myra. That is one good thing about the hot. It feels good when that cool water is going down. Good luck. I can tell you are getting it together again. It figures I would get it together right before vacation.
Essie,
I went to two of them already and I have NEVER seen anything like it and I have been to many concerts in my life. The girls are nuts. When I go to the concessions or the restroom and the lights go down or someone says a word on the mike the girls out there go spastic and run for their seats. It is unbelievable. Never saw so many girls move so fast.
Yes, she had it rough for a few months. This is her ultimate gift.

Terri, hope you and Brittany have a great time. Your trip sounds good--don't count on cooler weather up here tho!
Essie, it's so nice to hear how close you are with David. My son Joey is a great guy, we've always been close. That makes for a well-adjusted man!
Patti, hope you were able to be productive without the phones ringing. Hang in there.
Myra, you're right about it being easier to get the water in when the weather's so hot. So much easier to do in the summer! I hate drinking water in the cold weather.
We're barbecuing a turkey tomorrow for Father's Day. Joe's last day of vacation, then back to work on Monday :(
I got up early today at 4, couldn't sleep. As soon as it got light out I walked, then did tons of yard work. 3 hours of mowing the lawns, weeding, planting. I am dead tired, and am going to bed soon!
Happy Father's Day to all of your husbands and Dads!

Good morning my buddies
Terri - Brittany is soooo gonna love that surprise from your sister! She sure deserves a good time after everything she's gone through. Good luck to you though, being at an ear-splitting concert with hundreds of screaming teenage girls:lol: Enjoy your mini vacation.
Jen - Wow, you have lots of energy so early in the morning. Good for you getting that walking in, certainly can't do it in the afternoon in this heat.
Essie - I know what you mean about missing your 30 year old son - my oldest son (biological, that is :D ) Steven, is 26 and lives in Florida with his family. He hasn't lived at home for quite a few years and I still miss him. I will see him soon though, since we will be going to Florida the first week of July. We rented a 5 bedroom house with an in-ground pool. My husband's daughter and her family are going, his son and his family, my son and his family, my daughter Alana and son Justin, my sister and her son and I'm bringing my grandson Andrew (who is Steven's son) who will stay in Florida for the month of July visiting his dad. It should be a nice little (well, maybe not so little:dizzy: ) family reunion.
Patti/Zoe -- work, work, work!!! You'll feel better when you walk in on Monday morning and have gotten so much work done already. I do that when things become overwhelming at work. You really can get so much done without those darn phones!
Myra - stay cool - this heat does get unbearable - I think the older you get the more you feel it. I do anyway, lol.
Well, we are going to a barbecue (however, its raining in NY right now :( ) at my step-daughter's house today for Father's Day. We are all cooking anyway, so if it continues to rain, we'll just have it in the house.
Everyone have a great day with your fathers, husbands, sons, etc. Happy Father's day to all the guys.
Hugs,
Dianne

Thanks so much Dianne. Have fun. That sounds great. We had a lot of fun in Florida when I lived there. My sister and her hubby are going down the same week you are to visit their nephew and wife and new baby and they also rented a 5 bedroom house and then his side of the family, mom, sister etc... are meeting them there. They will be by Sarasota. Have a great time. Enjoy the pool!!!!!!
I CANNOT wait to see Brittany's face. Do you know how hard it is to keep this secret? She said the other day (in Kroger) and I qote
"The memory of those 2 BSB concerts you took me to will last a life time." then she hugged me. I had to bite my tongue so hard.
Great workouts Jen and so early! My hat goes off to you!
I will be on vacation for 2 weeks and will be back right after the 4th of July. I will get on Bruce's laptop a few times especially when my MIL starts telling the same stories over and over. :dizzy:
Take care.
Terri
I am sure I'll be back on tonight. They will have to drag me away kicking and screaming from my computer.

Hello:D
It is pouring out today. We rented a movie & my sister is coming by later with my pain in the neck brother-in-law. He's an alcoholic & could really get on your nerves. Luckily they live across the street & she can take him home when he gets out of hand. He's really a good guy as far as his personality but when he drinks he makes no sense!!!
Terri, we will miss you :( I hope you have a great time. So funny about your MIL
Dianne, you have a huge family! It must be fun when you are all together.

Hello ladies.....here I am, typing in red, an attempt to show the RED face I have for not being very good nor very OP the last few weeks. I have said, over the last week or so, that I was finally feeling in control but truth be known, I haven't felt very much in control AT ALL! Fact is, I have been totally OUT OF CONTROL....so tomorrow, another Monday, is another one of those "first day of the rest of my life" days. I WILL stay within my points, I WILL drink all my water, I WILL be accountable to y'all. <sigh> I plan on incorporating slim fast into my WW plan, having that for lunch at least 3 of the 4 work days. I am planning my week which is always a help to me. So tomorrow, I will post my weight, minus the gain/loss for the last few. I know in my heart that come NEXT Monday, there WILL be a difference. :D:D:D
Myra ~ WTG on the kickboxing. Great exercise, huh?
Essie ~ Send some of that rain over here. I am going to have to break down and water my lawn. :(
Dianne ~ I know how you feel....My daughter Jenna who will be 26 on the 4th of July, lives in FL and I wish she was here. It's where we lived and she went to HS before hubby was transferred out here to TX so she just loves it there. I try to entice her to TX but it doesn't work.
Jen ~ WOW, you were busy....and up at 4am? I'd be out like a light by 7pm... :)
Terri ~ I know you're gone by now but have a great vacation. I know you will....
I helped hubby with finishing the deck today. It looks (and feels) GREAT! He did such a good job and now, we are going out for diinner for Father's Day. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Have a great trip, Terri!
Dianne, you're going to have a blast.....with the house full of people and the pool in Florida. It sounds like so much fun.
Patti, don't fret about being out of control. You're sure to survive the temporary lapse. On these boards I've read that a good way to get back OP is to take baby steps. For the first day or two I make a mini goal for myself...such as drink all my water for the two days. When I'm successful at that, I feel pumped, proud of myself, and ready for the next mini goal, which could be journalling, for example. It really works for me, as it's too overwhelming for me to say "ok, I'll be totally OP now....no slip ups, no excuses!" cause then I usually set myself up for disaster, and feel depressed when I fail. Please hang in there....we're here for moral support!
Essie, how're you doing? I really miss seeing my sisters since we moved out of Chicago...I worked w/my younger one, we saw each other daily. It's so nice to hear that you're close with your family.
Myra, it sounds like you're really getting a workout! Thanks to you I've developed a liking for yoga, had never tried it till I read your posts. I've got lots to learn, am waiting for our park district to offer a class, meanwhile I'm using videos. I like Rodney Yee's.
Joyce, how are you?
Since I'm not going to meetings, I've chosen Wednesday as my weigh in day....am trying to work the program exactly as if I were going and paying them. I have let too much time slip by without serious losses. If I'd have stuck with it in January when I was so pumped, I'd have had a substantial loss by now!
Have a great week!

Hi Ladies ....I'm here and it's a brand new day, a brand new start. I weighed in this morning, higher than I've been in months but hey, I'm tackling this problem, right? Sure, I could get depressed if I thought about how I was 177 only 5 weeks ago and now, 187.5 but hey, I'm now in control, right....??.......:)
Jen ~ Thanks for your input on the mini goals. You're right, those mini goals are so much more attainable and I know I can to that. I have 50 ounces of water today which is GREAT for me lately, having been drinking just enough to take an aspirin. So I'm proud of that. I incorporated my slim fast today, and I will have strawberries tonight.
Well, I just wanted to post my weight (get it over with, ya know) and move on to the next day. Thank you all for your cheering me on. I couldn't do this without you's guys. :D

Hey, Patti, great job on the water! :D See? It's easy if we do it with some reality. If I had to go totally OP for the "rest of my life", I'd be out of luck. Good going! And, just for the record, I'm at 222............which sucks. I was, I think, at 221 in January. I've lost, gained, and now am here.
I am recommitting to doing this.....please bear with me (again!).
Good luck!
