It's here!!!!! I'm talking about September. Some schools are starting after Labor Day but lots have already begun. We can count this as a new beginning for better health for the rest of the year.

If you are new here, we are a great bunch of "losers" who would love you to join us. We'll give you lots of support, ideas and fun times. We also have a weigh-in thread & photo thread.

All you hear about down here is Hurricane Katrina. Here in Houston, we are overwhelmed with refugees. Our old Astrodome will now lodge those thousands who were stuck in the Superdome. It's such a tragedy.

This month, let's refocus our weigh loss efforts. I started off good with my Nov. goal. Now, I'm stuck in a rut. That's why I'm trying like everything to get back to exercising. That has to help.
How is everyone else doing?????????

Tammy, this is your first week back at school. Please tell us what's happening.
Erin, are you doing the Wendy Plan?
Amy, is your little one okay with going to pre-K?
Sis, when does your dd go back to school? Did y'all see that nutritionist?
Susan, how is that new girl fitting into the group?
Mimi, Are you doing anymore painting in your house? I thought I was finished but think I'll paint a bookshelf I'm going to put in my newly painted room. Always something else to do.
Jody, have you moved yet? Give us an update.
Maureen, did that new job come through?

I hope I haven't left anyone out. If I have, please, please forgive me.
It's so hot here. I don't want to heat up the kitchen in the evenings by cooking. Anyone have any "cool" supper ideas?

I just had a painter in today to do the outside windows, and the stairwell to the basement, no ladders for this Fchick. ;).
I too am refocusing my goal (under 200) August (July, and June) I pretty much goofed around at it and gained. I want to reach my goal by the end of the year, and I WILL do it.
The devestation in the south is mind numbing. I was saying a prayer for all you southern ladies.

Hi all. We've been keeping an eye on the tragedy with the hurricane. My class and I have talked about it each day.

School has been ok except at dismissal time. We told the administration that we didn't think the bus thing was going to work. Well, we were right. The bus riders were supposed to be dismissed at 3:25. A bit of a problem when the buses aren't there until between 3:45 and 3:55. Teachers are allowed to leave at 3:35, so we've stayed past our contractual day. I know it doesn't sound like much, and I'd still be there anyway working in the room, but it's hard to do when you still have over 1/2 the class there. Today was better. All the buses except one were by 3:35. Hopefully next week will be better.

I now have 27 students. New boy today from the MH room. He had been going to one of the other 4th grade rooms, but that teacher went to the principal and whined because he had 3 special needs kids in his room. I had 2, but those were only for speech. Well, I now have that little boy. That teacher now has 25 in his room. I only have Shane in my room from 1:15-3:00 for Social Studies, Science, and art/music/PE.
It kind of irritates me about the other teacher doing that. He's taught 4th grade for years, and I'm the rookie. Oh well. At least with 27, I shouldn't get any new ones since I have the most now.

I slept for almost 2 hours tonight, and I don't have anything done for school. I'm off to do that. Maybe I can get on here over the weekend. We also have to finish the paperwork for all of Tim's senior stuff (cap, gown, tassel, announcements, etc.) Wow!

Wow, Tammy - very busy! That's a huge class load. I can't imagine having that many!

Mimi - I love what a fresh coat of paint can do for a house -especially when someone else comes over and does it! I started painting my kitchen, living room, hallway, and laundry room in July. I am almost done. It's taking me forever, because of the baby.

Tina - You're going to get out of that rut. Food does not have to have control over you!!! September is going to be your month, right!?!!

I am doing fairly well - I lost 1.6 pounds. I had hoped for more - but, this will do. :c)
I can't wait to see what next week holds - I should be at 10 pounds, for sure.

I'm scared to start the Wendie plan. Tomorrow should be my super high day, if I start it. I am scared I will make bad choices, and eat trigger foods that will cause me to sprial out of control. In other words, I dont' want to start living for those super high days, nor do I want to use them as an excuse to continue a bad habit.

Any advice?!

Like in Houston, we too in San Antonio are seeing the effect of Katrina. Yesterday morning my(and Susan's) Dad was rushed to the hospital for a drop in his blood sugar. He is ok and should be released this morning after a night of observation. But at the hospital they didn't have a bed for him because they were in "Disaster Mode" and the ErR people were camped out.
Buses are coming in all day and we are expecting about 25,000 - 30,000 more by Sunday.

It makes you count your blessings!

Well my school ordeal with my preschool is much better. Each day is getting better and he loves it once he gets there and comes out just a talk'n about it.

The situation is so sad. I really don't have the words to describe the horror I see (well, that we all see) - everyday when we turn on the news. I can't imagine how it must be for those of you who are either IN this situation, or very close to it.

I made it through my first Super high day - and, I'm trying NOT to feel guilty. I did have a few cookies, but other than that, I did not indulge in foods that would make me binge. I spent my extra points on dinner. I had an extra helping of Greek salad, and I had some garlic bread. I counted up the total points I would use on the Wendie Plan, and I still would not use all my allowance points. So, I think I did the right thing.

We'll see! Tomorrow is a regular day - 26 points - and using allowance points isn't allowed tomorrow. IT has to be a 'low' day.

Erin; I tried that Wendie plan a few weeks in this last year, It worked ok but I just found I was so hungry the days after the high days that it was very hard to control my eating. I did find that I was looking forward to those high days too much. It worked better for me when there was a special day or celebration for another reason rather than a "high" points day, like a birthday or holiday.

Tina

Hi all,
I know nothing about the Wendie Plan. 'Guess I should look it up.

Yes, the situation in Lousiana, Mississippi and Alabama are deplorable. It has been so infuriating that supplies were not sent in sooner. It could've been done!!!!!!!!!
Our church has started feeding those staying in nearby motels/hotels who are running out of money. We are even being allowed now to shelter 150 people. That doesn't sound like many but every little bit helps some.

I've been so good OP all week. I'm so psyched that I don't even want to indulge.   That's a good thing since this is my mother's 89th birthday and I've ordered a big cake for tonight's celebration.

How is everyone doing????? It has been a pretty quiet week what with the end of summer and the beginning of school for others.
Any big plans for Labor Day?
Mimi & Maureen, do you have the equivalent of the US Labor Day?

Tammy

Erin, I think I could handle the size of my class if the classroom was larger. It is the smallest classroom in the building. Just my luck, right? It sounds like you did well on the Wendie plan high day.

Amy and Susan, we're praying for your dad. Keep us posted.

Tina, I would like a piece of that cake right now. I ate a mini-cinnamon raisin bagel for breakfast. After Tim returns from running errands, we'll try to think of something for lunch. He works tonight, so Bob and I will be on our own for supper. I'm thinking chicken or steak (grilled) with a nice salad.

Mimi, I think I'd be the same way with the high point day on the Wendie plan. You know, live to eat type of thing?

Tina, 150 people is a start. If everyone would be able to help like that, it would make a difference. I was so upset when I heard that people were shooting others. I can't imagine the stress that everyone is feeling down there. At the football game last night they were collecting $$ to send to help out. I think by the end of the night they had almost $2000. Doesn't sound like much, but I live in a very small town. Our population is right around 2,000.

Hi Friends,

Thanks for all the well wishes for our darling Daddy. He spent 2 nights in the hospital and was released on Friday. He is doing fine now. He scared us all!

Life at school has been exciting. My other new girl came on Tuesday. There is some jealous with my other youngin. She had a very hard day on Friday and didn't want to be away from me. It's almost like separation anxiety. Then the new one had a couple of outbursts. Let's just say I was glad it was the last day of the week.

The Dallas area is also getting hurricane victims. It's just horrible to see all of the destruction. I don't think New Orleans will ever be the same.

I am making a major step that I wasn't sure I would be able to do for a while. A month or so ago, my husband suggested that it was time we do something with all of Seamus' things. I told him I wasn't ready yet. Watching the hurricane victims, it has made me do alot of thinking. Yesterday, I was watching the news and some of the first busses were arriving in Houston. The first person off was a mother with her infant. I teared up. Last night, my husband said "what do you think about taking some of the big stuff down and donating it to the hurricane victims?" I got teary eyed and said "I think it's the perfect thing to do" I will be writing a note and placing it on everything we take saying it is "A Gift from Heaven, In Memory of Our Angel Baby." I think he will be pleased!!!

I hope everyone is doing well. I plan to be posting more than I have this past week. It's been a hard one for me.

Good evening,
(I'm not getting notified of posts. Grrrr....)

Susan, I agree that what you and Pat are doing is wonderful and courageous. The clothes will be so welcome to those who've lost everything. Sorry you had such a stressful week with "the girls." Maybe they'll settle down.

Tammy, the amount of that donation is remarkable and will be well spent. If people would realize that just $1 can make a difference, it would be great.

Where are our other regulars??????? How about new members??!!!

Everyone have a good day tomorrow.

Susan, I think that's wonderful what you are doing. I know how hard it must be, but think of how much good it will do someone. Take care.

I am skipping church again. I'm getting bad. This morning I have cramps, and I'm planning to take some Tylenol and go back to bed with the heating pad. Shouldn't I be done having those some day??????????????????

I need to go to school sometime and work on lesson plans. We have to do ours on-line, and the template I used last year won't work because of all of the changes. I have to come up with something new. Wish we could just do it on paper. The computer makes me nervous. lol

Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been online as much as I'd like between work and my hubby already being on the computer. ;)
Amy, & Susan your dad is in my prayers as are all the people of NOLA. May God be with them.
Tina congrats on being OP all week. That's great!
Mimi, I also tried the Wendi Plan. It does work but I'm like you the high days made it too hard for me to control overeating after that. I did it but I felt guilty for overeating too. LOL. I eventually just went back to regular points.
Oh yea, I just read that MI is taking some of the hurricane victims up here. Thats good. They sound like they have a pretty good plan for housing them for at least the next 6 months.
Susan, I think that was a beautiful thing for you to do with Seamus's things. I can imagine how difficult that was but such a wonderful gesture. You are awsome. Take care.
Tammy that donation was great. I'm sure all donations no matter what the size are so important, and as you said your town is only 2000 people so thats a really good donation.
I did pretty good this week by walking 1.5 miles at least 2 times and being fairly well OP. I am finally starting to lose again. I think my dh and I will probably try to wlk again today.
Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Labor Day. Take care..........Sis :D

Susan; I think that giving away the baby things is a great idea, and I am sure it will help to know you are helping.
Tina;Congrats on staying on points. You are right when you get into a groove its a good place to stay. I am not getting notified of posts either, maybe the site is taking a holiday too. Yes it is Labour day here tomorrow too. The boys are both off too so I am trying to figure out what to do that would be special.
Tammy; I hope your classroom settles down soon. They are really giving the teachers here a shakeup this year, instead of 2 15min. recesses and one 1hr. lunch they are having 2 45 min breaks. I am glad my guys are out of the elementary system now, making one lunch a day was stressful enough. Those 45 min.are a long time outside when it is minus 20 degrees. There will be lots of kids staying in.
Erin; let us know how today is going. I know you can do it.
Sis; enjoy your walk today, It is beautiful here today, I hope the sun is shining on you.

Hi Friends,

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. We got up and Pat mowed the front pasture while I took my dog for a walk. It's an australian shepard that showed up here several years ago. He can't stand her but I love her. So she is mine. We went for a long walk, then I came home and did weights. It felt so good. Then Pat took the other 2 dogs for a walk. One doesn't like to go for walks.

We went to IHOP for breakfast. I had the Chef salad. It is so GOOD. :) You really must try it sometimes. I think it's one fo the best salads I've had.

I never know why sometimes we get messges and others we don't... the mystery!!!

Tammy, ya'll did great raising money!!! You know one new student can change the whole atmosphere in class. I agree it wsn't fair that you got him.

Tina, did you mother enjoy her birthday cake?

Erin, I agree about seeing all the destruction on the news. It's always there. I've never tried Wendies plan but I've heard about it.

Sis, I'm glad you posted.

Mimi, I can't believe the kids going out in such cold weather. Here they don't go out if it's cold.

Amy, now where are you????? Don't make me come down there! Well, wouldn't that be a punishment.... me coming down there!!! Ha ;) Hope lunch was good! Wish I was there with you.

As ya'll can tell we have a very close family. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Mimi4fun
09-04-2005, 05:42 PM
Well Susan that is pretty cold even for her but pretty much from the end of November to the end of Feb. it is in the minus degrees (thats celcius degrees). So the kids get used to it lots of hats mitts, scarves and thick coat, boots, leggings. It takes the kids 10 minutes to get dressed.

Tina
09-04-2005, 07:30 PM

Hi Sis! Good for you on the walking. I've been wearing my pedometer to school every day. I've hit 10,000 steps almost every day this week. This week should be more because I have cafeteria duty every day. Oh boy! Also, good for you on starting to lose again. I'm glad that I didn't gain since it's that TOM. Haven't started anything but cramping though. Yuck.

auntie
09-04-2005, 08:03 PM

Little Sis
09-04-2005, 08:18 PM
Would someone please explain to me what it means to have cold weather. :D
We may, if we are lucky have 3 weeks of cold (30 degree weather). It's nothing to wear shorts to church for Christmas mass.

Well our Daddy is much better. Thanks for all the prayers and special words. He is still weak, but he felt good enough last night to make his special homemade chilli for the hotdog we were having for dinner.

I am so proud of you Suz (aka Susan) I know my beautiful nephew is looking down and has his wings around you while you gather all his stuff. Remind me to tell you about the butterfly I saw Friday.

Tina
09-05-2005, 01:29 AM
Amy, I'm with you. The only thing we have to worry about on Christmas day is maybe rain.
Except last year when it actually snowed on Chrismas Eve!
Hot weather then helps curb the cravings for hot, homemade fudge. :)
Now I'm making myself hungry.

Hey, everyone!! How is Labor Day going? I bet it's nice for you teachers to have a day off :c)

We're blessed with warm weather here, too, of course...but, it's always neat when you see the leaves changing on TV and stuff...kinda makes me think I'm missing out, you know? However, I've taken my kids swimming in November, so I suppose that's the tradeoff.

My 'Wendie Week' is going super. I can tell the scale is down, although I'm not sure that has much to do with the plan. I think it has more to do with my faithfullness. I've been OP all week. :c) No grazing or taking 'bites' of stuff and not counting it. (I was doing that all last week, and it showed)

The coolest thing? I actually had the ENERGY and the DESIRE to go outside and do yardwork yesterday. That was the first time in a long time that I've felt that way. It's nice not to take up residence on the couch all day. ;c)

I'll talk to you ladies later! :c)

Tammy

day off? I was at school yesterday, and I was back in there again today. There is so much silly stuff to do at the beginning of the year, and I haven't found time during the school day to get it done. This Thursday we have Open House. We always have a hot dog dinner on the front lawn of the school. Well, that's what we've had since this principal has been here. We usually have a pretty good turnout. Hope they all don't come into the classroom at once! No one will be able to move!!

It is nice to have the day off, but I'm doing school work. I agree Tammy, there is so much to do getting started at the beginning of the year. I think I could work 24/7 for several days and still not be caught up.

Hope everyone is having a great day. I ran errands this afternoon and then we went out for lunch.

I have read through your posts and think you are a great bunch of "losers" that are very supportive of one another. I would really like to join your group :D.

My name is Jan and I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I am originally from Southern California. I met DH almost 18 years ago and moved to Canada once we were married. We have three wonderful sons; the oldest is 13 and the twins are 11.

My current (and final) weight loss journey started Thursday Sept 1. I am following the Wendie Plan. I find this to be a very satisfying plan for me.

I look forward to getting to know everyone:)

It's Tuesday,
Today is so pretty. I can tell summer is leaving us. Well, a little anyway. The humidity is down and it's actually in the 70's. I can go out to put the sprinkler without coming back in sweating.

Jan, welcome to the group. Originally, we all weighed in on Thursdays. We're not really strict about that now. We have a Weigh-In Results thread and a Photo thread. Be sure to post your weigh-ins and send a picture. It sounds like you're fully committed and going strong.

How is everyone today/?????? I hope we can all stay OP and drink water today and the rest of the week.
I have a dental appointment this afternoon. I don't like dentsts and always put off the visits as long as possible.

Good afternoon all

I've taken this week off so I'm not doing much but have decided to get serious about all this weight I've gained. Today I haven' t done too bad, but I find it's the evenings that kill me. So, I'll make sure I watch it.

Hi Jan, I'm in Edmonton too!!! We're in the north east end, welcome.

Tina, Sue and all you other southern belles - you were talking about cold we sometimes get -30 celsius in the winter which translates to about -22 farenheit, but after seeing the mess Katrina has left I'll take the cold. I do think our summer is way too short though and especially this year it seemed to rain so much.

Well, have a great day and talk to you all later

Susan, you are right about the 24/7. All of the staff is feeling so out of it because of all of the changes that they made. There is no time during the school day for me to meet with the other 4th grade teachers. We don't even get to eat lunch together. I think that has everyone feeling so lost and frustrated. I was thinking tonight that after Open House, I'm going to rethink what my plans are for the year. I am definitely not going to be able to do everything that I'd like, so I need to regroup my brain. lol

And speaking of cramps! I'm still crampy but nothing else. This is ridiculous.

Welcome to the crew, Jan!!!!! You will love it here. These ladies are some of the most supportive women I've ever "met", not only for weight loss, but for a zillion other things that we all deal with at one time or another in our lives.

I live in Western Ohio, we've been married 24 years, and we have a son who is 17 and a senior in high school. We also have a dog named Kramer, a dachsund. He's spoiled rotten. In fact, he's waiting by the recliner for me so he can curl up beside me while I read the paper!

Hi ladies!
I need your support!!! I have been reading over alot of the threads lately and this one has stuck out to me. My name is Andrea. I am a sahm and have 2 boys. Andrew is 8 and Alex is 3. Me and Dh have been married 9 yrs. I was on the wendy plan about 1 1/2 yrs ago and lost about 14 pounds. I had a group of weight loss friends on another thread. Since then, the thread kind of fizzled out. Dh and I moved and I am just now trying to get my act together! I weigh about 172 now. Just writing that down makes me sick!!! I'm 5'4 and want to get down to about 125. I did really well when I had some weight loss friends and I hope ya'll will be my new ones!

I have to say thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. The support everyone has for one another is fantastic.

Maureen - I cannot believe there is someone else from Edmonton. I live in the deep south in Lake Summerside. I work at Save-on-Foods downtown currently but for nine years I worked in the Northtown and Namao location, so who knows we might have met many times.

A & A's mom - Our goals and starting weights are almost identical. I am starting at 176 and my goal is to stay between 125 - 130. We can take this journey together.

Tina - How was the dental appointment? I think I dispise going to dentists as much as you.

Tammy - I cannot believe what their doing to you and the kids. Hopefully this experiment will fail and they will go back to the old ways soon.

Mimi - Thanks for the welcome.

Hi everyone!
Andrea, welcome to the group.
Jan--
I made it through my dental visit. It took 2 hours!@# He had to replace some bonding on my 2 upper front teeth. He's a good guy, I just have this thing about dentists.
Susan and Amy, how is your dad doing?
Tammy, I hope the cramps are gone now.
Sis & Jody & Erin, what's happening?
Maureen,, have you enjoyed your vacation so far? Don't worry, you will get your weight back off. Just start counting your points and journaling. Remember you have flex points that you can use at night. ;)

Hi everyone

I managed to stay on program yesterday(below pts actually & I know that's not good)-
Tina I hope your mouth wasn't too sore. I've never been afraid of the dentist, but I found my jaw would get sore from keeping my mouth open for so long!

Jan, I've sometimes popped into your store(if that's the one on 109 St & Jasper) - also do the payroll etc parttime for Allegro's restaurant in Peace Hills Trust bldg so I'm not too far away from there- If you wear name tags & I see Jan I'll say hello. We just moved in april to Clareview. I like it because we're close to the LRT, Wal-Mart(I can see it out the back bedroom window) & superstore.

Hi to Tammy, Sue, Mimi, Amy & everyone else

Talk to you later

Hey everyone!

Andrea and Jan - Welcome!! You're so right - Everyone here is SOO supportive. This is my first week on Wendie's plan, but it's gone really well. I plan on posting a seperate post tomorrow about my trial week. I'd like to hear more about your experiences with it :c)

Tina - Dental visits!! Scary! I'm glad you did ok. 2 hours is about an hour and a half too long :c)

Auntie and Little Sis - How are things??? I hope all is ok with your Dad and everything else, too.

Tammy - I hope things find balance for you. I can't imagine the thought process of your administrators! (You are the one with the GIANT class, right? - and you have 2 or 3 with special needs?) I get confused sometimes, lol! (I don't know how you all keep up!)

I hope I didn't leave anyone out! You're all so great, I'd hate to overlook anyone .

I have done really well this week. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow evening!

Have a great night, ladies!

Welcome to the gang Andrea!!!! They are awesome!!

Jan, I don't think the administration is going to change their minds on what they've done at school. That would be admitting that they were wrong, and of course, they wouldn't want to do that. lol

Tina, I wish you could go to my dentist. She is wonderful! It is rare to have any pain at all with anything that we have done. Bob was going to her before we were married, so it's been a while. When Tim was little, she would put him on a stool so he could watch her clean my teeth! I'm still crampy, but sometimes the pains are really severe. I guess I should mention that to the gyn. whenever I make an appointment to see him for my yearly checkup.

Maureen, I do so much of my shopping at WalMart. Lucky you to be that close!

Mimi, yes I think you should pop in more often!!

Good evening ladies! :D

I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello. I know I told ya'll I'm a sahm, but I also babysit. Those kids are precious, but boy to they wear me out!! :tired: I did o.k. on my plan today. I may have gone over a little. Who does ww and what plan do you do? I've done the wendy plan and that worked for me but is not as flexable as the flex points. I also have heard about core, but don't know much about it. What I have heard seems like it might be hard to do. I don't know if I trust myself enough to do flex points. I don't think I would be very disiplined with them. I'll admit, I'm a pig!

Anyway, forgive me for not addressing ya'll personally, but I'll do better tomorrow. Have a great night and I also want to know about the Oprah story! :D

Hi Andrea,
Since this is the WW part of the message board, we've all done/or are doing WW. The point system is my favorite although I've tried Core.
I can hold myself more accountable with the points.
It sounds like you are one busy lady!

Hey y'all
I'm just starting out on WW, and you ladies seem like a fun group, hope you don't mind if I hang around. I'm finishing up college a semester late, and graduating in December. My weight has fluctuated since high school, and I think WW has the structure I need to be successful.

Hey Everyone!

Welcome Princess!

Tina, I was in bed last night thinking about my day and it hit me that when I asked who was doing ww, I was posting on the ww board!! The other thread I used to post on was support groups so there were some who did other diets. (At least I'll let that be my excuse!! :D ) See how crazy those kids made me yesturday!!

Today has been just as crazy. My dh went to work at his new job this morning, came home about noon and left to do some work at his old job this afternoon. My sis in law came over and had left over chicken pot pie along with 3 kids running around and a hyper dog. But, I have stayed on track today so it has been a good day. Dh has a new office and I want to decorate it, but would like to lose some weight before going up there. Maybe that will help me stay motivated. Anyway I rambling now. Hope ya'll are all having a good day! :)

good evening everyone

I'm just about finished day 3 & so far I've been good. Drinking all my water & I've made a spread sheet to keep track of points. I didn't do too well in the exercise department but tomorrow's another day.

I've not been doing very much just enjoying not going to work. That new job I mentioned a few weeks ago is still a go. The company has to find space to lease then set everything up. Today I met with a fellow from Calgary who's going to be working with me and we looked around for some places. The 2 people who will be opening the company are both in different cities, so it seems slow going as far as I'm concerned.

I hope you all had a good day and I'll be here tomorrow. Oh yes, I tried to add one of the trackers, we'll see if it worked it looks like it didn't I'll have to work on it

Hello, everyone!

I hope things are going well for you all.

Well, I'm here, moved back into my parents' house with my son. The friends that we were planning on renting from didn't have our living area ready to go in time--not just "not quite ready" but "utterly unliveable"--so we had to make a change of plans midstream. Just as well--we are back in the school district that my son was in before we moved last time, and he's much less stressed about making friends, cause he reconnected with the ones that he had before. Lucky kid!

My mother, who I have been very concerned about healthwise because of her weight, agreed to join WW with me. Her first meeting was two weeks ago--yesterday, she got her 2nd five-pound award and was thisclose to being at 15 lbs lost. Yay for Judy!!! I love to give her credit, but she gives me all the credit. Apparently, part of her agreement to join was that I become her personal chef. Which has been fun, because she's an easy feed--there's almost nothing she doesn't like, so I'm free to try anything on her at least once. Since I LOVE to cook, this has been a lot of fun for me, too. And apparently, it's helped--I've lost 6.4 lbs in two weeks myself!

Have a great weekend, ladies...I'll catch up again soon!

Tina

Greetings!!!!!!
Maureen, good going on your days OP. You can do this!!!!
And, those trackers are tricky things. It took me a while to figure them out.

Jody, I've been missing you. It's so good your son is happy at school. I know from experience how hard it is on them to move to another school. We had to do that to our son once.
What do you like to cook????? I could really use some inspiration of new menus. Please share with us.

I hope everyone is having a good day. I'm bloated today (and yesterday) and didn't want to weigh. My clothes feel good on me. That's going in the right direction.

Tammy, how was Open House?
Susan and Amy, how's your dad?
Erin, Jan, Andrea, what's new?
Sis, are you working too hard?
Mimi, you haven't told us about Oprah!

I got through my week of Wendie. Won't do it again - but I had a great WI - down 4.2.

We started school this week. It's going great, so far. I did have to give my son 'detention' for having a bad attitude, yesterday. But, such is life. I have to establish boundaries, or - well, I'd have chaos by Christmas. It's hard when you are Mom AND Teacher - but, since I am - I have to be tough at 'school'.

We have had SO much rain from Ophelia. We're keeping an eye out for her. (and tracking her in school!) She could turn and come back to us!

I'm going to get out my Fall decorations over the weekend. I look forward to putting it out. I love this season. I go on vacation in about a month! I'm so exicited!

I hope everyone is well. I'll see you beautiful ladies, soon!

Isn't Oprah amazing! It's one of the wax museums in Niagara Falls. It just reopened last week, and the sets are amazing. Its really neat how you can get right in there with them. Sorry! I didn't really fool you did I?
Andrea; I had my own day care for about 10 years while my guys were growing up. Very long hard hours but lots of fun too, and I got to be home with my boys.
I have been staying OP all week and getting back into the exercise. I hope to be back down to my presummer weight by next week.
Jody; It sounds like you are both helping each other out a lot. Its fun to cook some special meals for more than one.
Erin; It sounds like the Wendie plan worked really great for you. Why won't you try it again?
Susan and Amy; I hope your dad's sugar levels have evened out. My Dad's would sometimes bottom out too esp. if he wasn't feeling well or had been out working in the garden. Does he have any idea why it happened?
Tammy; I hope your class has settled down by now. The uproar in town is just beginning about the new schedules at the schools. They forgot to tell all the parents that the kids would be getting out 10 minutes sooner. What a mess!
Tina; Hope you are feeling a little less bloatie. They wanted to measure me at the gym today but I said no, but I am going to get the muscle/fat instument out tomorrow. I hope that has changed a bit in the right direction.
Our universities are taking in some of the students displaced by Kat. I think we should be taking in whole families. Don't know if too many would like all that cold weather though.
To all of you wonderful ladies: Have a great weekend. I am working both days so may not get back on here again this weekend.

Ugh, just gave in terribly while eating out - I'm stuffed and feel gross. I guess that's what comes from eating correctly in in the right proportions and then going back to old habits. At least I feel sick enough to know I won't be doing that again soon. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Hi all. Just finally getting to pop in here. I haven't been here in about a week and I can tell. I had 3 pages to catch up on. I hope everyone is doing well. I have been doing ok this week. Stayed op "most" of the week. My hubby wanted to go out to a Polish restaurant last night and I kind of blew it. :( Oh well, today is another day. :) I am still trying to get myself motivated. I stayed the same this week, but thats ok, better than a gain. :) I haven't lost what I put on the last few months yet. I should change my tracker but I have been kind of using that as incentive to get back there. Its of only by a few lbs, about 6 and I look at it everytime I post so it makes me think. ;) Sorry I didn't address everyone individually but 3 pages is a lot to catch up on. LOL Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day. By the way, WELCOME to all the newbies!!! This is a wonderful board with WONDERFUL people. Take care all....Sis :D

I am having a great day so far and it's only 7:30 am. I had to modify my exercise plans because it is raining. So I turned on the VCR and popped in my Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds 2 mile tape. I find I get a more exhilirating workout when I use these tapes. I am sure my ams will be sore tomorrow since I haven't used any weights in months. Maybe I'll take some aspirin before I go to bed.

I have to go to work now so I will catch-up with everyone later.

Howdy,
Let me start by saying "Welcome to all the new folks!!" and yes, you have found a terrific group!!!! We are a very close group.

I havent' been getting messages either. I hate it when that happens. I'm a little under the weather with a cold but actually I think it's allergies. Yuck!! :dizzy:

Thanks for all the concern about our dad. He is doing well. THe doctor changed his night time insulin to a lower dose. His heart irregularrities were caused from low potassium due to the direutics he was one. So it was a good thing he was sent to the hospital. After receiving potassium and gulcose and a 2 night stay, he got to come home. His doctor put him on a 24 hour heart monitor and everything is pretty good so far.

Tina, thanks for the email. You are the best!!!!

Jody, it's great to hear from you. We've missed you!

Maureen, when do you start your new job?

Tammy, has school settled down yet? My 2 involved girls were absent on Friday so it was a quiet day for me. My one is extremely jealous of the new one, and has started acting out some again. I'll be glad when they get insync and use to each other.

Mimi, how's life going for you?

Amy, oh little sis, where are you?????

Sis, I was right there with you on catching up on my reading of the posts. You miss one day and you miss alot.

Have a great evening.

Good evening all

Back to work tomorrow why does time off always fly by? I'm on day 6 and managed to stay on program(1 day at a time). I got a call today from the gent who's going to open up the new company here that'll I'll be working for - we're going for dinner tuesday night. He lives in Winnipeg, his brother, who'll be running the place, lives in Victoria and the other fellow who'll be working also, lives in Calgary - so we're all spread out. Right now they're trying to find a place to open up. There's several that I saw last week so hopefully in about a month + we'll be up and running.

Any way the weather here's the pits - it's cold.

Mimi, you had me fooled!

Hope everyone had a good day & even if I don't post - I'll be here

Open House was interesting on Thursday. Had quite a few people tell me that they were surprised that I left 2nd grade. I informed them that the changes that were made at the school were forced on us by the administration and school board. They were shocked. Alot of them are upset about the busing issue of double routes. Some of the kids are getting on the bus at 6:15 to be at the middle school at 7:30. These kids live 2 miles from the school!! Crazy.

Erin, that has to be hard giving your son a detention. I have one of the Walk Away the Pounds videos too, but I haven't used it in a while. I need to dig it out and get walking!!

Mimi, we went to a wax museum in Niagra Falls years ago.

Sis, I know what you mean about having so much to catch up on when I come back on here. I don't get on the computer much during the week, and even the weekends have been so busy doing other things.

Well, everyone have a great week. It's about my bed time.

I think I'm about organized enough that I can take a day off. Isn't that awful to plan a sick day? I can't take off tomorrow because we are starting computers in the library for math practice. The volunteer that does them has been doing them for my classes for at least 6 years. I'd hate to miss seeing and talking to him. Maybe Wednesday will be a good day to sleep in. Next Thursday (22nd ) is Bob's b-day, so I think I might be sick then too.

Susan, get better!!

I cooked 2 great recipes tonight a pumpkin soup and a chocolate cookie. Dan is putting in his first night at Arby's restaurant, no more dish washing for him. Hello everyone!

My kids were watching TechTV and found a great website that allows you to see how many miles your walking route is. All you do is put in your country and city, then find your neighborhood. The map can be a little tricky to use, just keep clicking on the arrows. I find if you use 'zoom 1' you can see the streets of your neighborhood. They use GoogleMap as their resource.
Gmap Pedometer (http://www.sueandpaul.com/gmapPedometer/)

I have been very busy only able to read the posts, update my daily goals and food diary. DH is at a business meeting in Vancouver overnight, I've exercised already, dinner is in the Crock Pot and the boys and I have a library date after school. So for the next few hours I am free to play on the computer.

Mimi - I don't think we have had many days in the 30's in Edmonton this summer. I really like the heat but you can keep the humidity.

Tina - Congratulations on yuor blood test results. I really need to have mine checked. There doing a clinic at work I'll have to make an appointment.

Tammy - I hope you enjoy your Mental Health, I mean sick days next week.

Maureen - How is work going? Time always goes so fast when you are on vacation.

I hope everyone has an OP program.

Hi again, all!

Thought this would be a good week, only to have GAINED. WAAH! However, is TOM so maybe......

Tina...I look hard to find recipes that aren't all that hard to find ingredients for in my area (central MN). I use the Internet A LOT, especially this time of year when the garden is spewing vegetables--how many ways are there to cook/use zucchini that DON'T use gallons of oil? (Answer: plenty!) Cooks.com is a good resource. Also, if you get WW email updates, they often have short, easy to make recipes. This past summer, there was the 10 Main Course salads that has a couple we've used numerous times, and then there was also 10 No-Cook Suppers that we've also loved. I think you can find them on the WW website--if not, let me know, I can try to send them to y'all.

Also, I totally LURVE the "Cooking Light" magazine, although a lot of their items can be high point-wise. But, if you figure 5-8 points for the main course and throw together a good NP salad, and that's not a bad meal with LOTS of taste. Of course, their recipes also tend to be a bit exotic at times (which is fine by me, but maybe not for every cook). I've spent literally YEARS reading cookbooks, magazines, and watching cooking shows, so I'm ready and willing to try just about anything and usually have pretty good results.

Last night, I made a White Bean and Black Olive soup that was TO-DIE-FOR!!! that was only 3 pts. It was a lot of work, but SOOO worth it!!! I'm drooling just thinking of it!

Also, the WW cookbooks are excellent, although there again, sometimes weird stuff in the recipes--or not easily accessible. The good news is, once you buy sesame oil or rice wine vinegar or other pantry items, they are virtually indestructible and you'll have them for awhile and be able to use them again, and soon enough that "weird grocery list" shrinks. ::shrugs::

Hope that helps!

::waves to everyone::

Well gang, I'm getting a few days of rest and relaxation. I haven't been to school since Tuesday. Had an incident at recess with a child who was very rebellious, hitting, kicking, mouthing off to me, and the list goes on. While I'm dealing with him, some kids run up to say another child is being choked by some kids. What a zoo. Anyway, I finally get this kid into the building and he's still throwing a fit. With my fingers I flipped him on the cheek to try to get him to be quiet and pay attention to me and his teacher. Well, the kid was suspended, and I am on paid Administrative Leave while the administration does an investigation. Oh boy.

There are 225+ kids out for this recess. Our playground is smaller this year because they took up part of it for parking. It is one royal mess. There are 4 adults out there, but it is wild. I thought I'd get to go back to school tomorrow, but I haven't heard from them yet.

I can't wait until I can retire.

By the way, if I did it right, my tracker moved in the right direction.
Oh, and please pray that things get straightened out so I can go back soon. I know the sub and she is a wonderful person with 2nd graders. I can't imagine how she is dealing with 27 4th graders.

Howdy,

It was a wild day for my girls. One was wild and once she calmed the other decided to start up. Never a dull moment. Oh and our a/c was not working so it was so humid and hot that it was like a sauna.

Tammy, I am so sorry. I can't believe they have you on leave. How come there wasn't an administrator out there? Oh right, he's an idiot...... Want us to come up there and set them straight? You know Tina and I will be there in a heart beat!

Tina, how are you doing my friend?

Mimi, Dan's working at Arby's. Tammy's Tim works there too. To bad they aren't in the same city!

I'm finally on the mend. I still don't feel perfect but much better. Now I have a cough and messed up nose....... Nothing I can't live with for a few days but it can go away anytime!!!!!! :)

Off to do a little school work, since I didn't get any done during the day.

winterstar - you've got it goin' on, girl!!!! :c)

auntie - how can you stand no air?!?! That's just wrong!! I hope they get it fixed. I'm glad you're feeling better - it stinks to be sick, doesn't it?

I hope everyone is doing great - I'm a little sad about my .2 loss (that doesn't even move the tracker) but, other than that I'm ok. I finally finished painting my living room, and so now I'm doing the trim and the hallway. I can't wait for it to be done.
Trying to get the house refinanced - that's really not as "no hassle" as they say. Not alot else going on. School is going - OK - this week. No one really feels good in the house, so we might be a tad grouchy... :c)

Susan, I would love for all of you to come up here and take care of these people!! My teacher's association president has been in contact with a lawyer. He's supposed to call me on Monday. The president said he is a bear, and he didn't mean teddy bear. He also said that this lawyer would make mince meat out of the principal! I love it!! lol

Mimi, that's cool that Dan is at Arby's. Tim has worked there for 1.5 years. He likes it, but he gets worn out with his school activities and working sometimes.

The mother of one of my students called me this morning. She had heard about the incident from the boy's father. She said that the father is supporting me, but he didn't think that the principal was. Maybe the lawyer will convince him that he should. Anyway, I told the mom that I wasn't allowed to talk about it. She was planning to send messages to the principal and superintendent this morning. She also plans to get other parents involved. She was going to tell the prin.and supt. in the message that this isn't the kind of thing you want going on with a levy on the ballot in November.

If I would have known that I was going to be off this long, I could have gone to Disney World or some place.

I did something today that I haven't done in 5 years-----I bid on something on Ebay. I won, too!!!!! :) I bought a hand painted Mary Engelbreit needlepoint canvas. I love her stuff but she isn't painting anything now. :(

I've been going through some magazines that I hadn't had time to read. I started a book last night called "Best Friends" by Martha Moody. A friend had read it, loved it, and let me borrow it. It takes place at a college in Ohio in the 70's! I feel like I'm reliving my college days!!! lol

I have never done Ebay. My brother and SIL do all the time. I've never even been to that site. Maybe I should check it out sometime. I like the Mary E stuff too.
Mexican sounds yummy.

I'll be eating at the band contest later today. I am still allowed to chaperone even though I'm on leave. Go figure. I'm also allowed to go to a taping that the Academic Team is doing for a show in Dayton on Tuesday night. I guess I'm really not a threat to high school kids. lol

This is the first of 3 marching contests for the kids. The judges at this contest have been called "al quaida" judges. They are usually awful. I don't know why we keep going there. Last year out of the 20+ bands, only 1 of them qualified for the state marching contest. We're the 4th band today. We go in the class for the small bands. We have 44 kids. They sound and look great though, so I hope they qualify. This show is songs from the 70's. I'm loving it!!

Very inspired by the big losers:cheer: in the group, yet very concerned with everything thats going on way down in the south. We are all thinking about you up here. Hi,
Welcome to the group Bug! You do sound like you are off to a good start.

I got my haircolored this morning and ran a few errands. I came home and cleaned the house really well since I was sick last weekend. Pat's working from home all day. Other than that nothing exciting going on here.

Tammy, I sure wish we lived close to you so we could hang out and help you through this. It is silly that you can do everything else with the band. Just try and have fun and count those days until retirement! ;)

Tina, I hope your picture is great. I'm so glad it's starting to cool off a few degrees.

I can't believe I am not getting notices again. I knew you guys couldn't go three days without posting!
Welcome Bug I hope to see you here often, finally someone within a days drive. Don't worry I won't pop in.
I hope you all have a great week. I had a falling out with a box of chocolate covered nuts. Sigh! I am MAD at myself.

Mimi,
I think we have all had the problem of not getting notification this month (at some time or another). We've missed you.

Hi,
I think something is going wrong with the notification system here. So many of us have had problems.
Tammy, the whole mess sounds goofy to me. I'm glad that rep has a good lawyer for you.
Susan, can you come clean my house now?
Mimi, I'm so hungry tonight. I wish you still had some of those nuts. I've been craving chocolate. I don't have anything sweet in the house. That's not good. Today at the grocery, I wanted to buy all the candy bars---and I never eat candy bars. :dizzy:
Erin---congratulation on your loss. Every bit counts and is wonderful!

Hi all. Just finally taking time to sit down and read and post a bit.
Tammy, I agree with Tina, this whole thing you have to go thru is nuts. Stay strong girl, our thoughts are with ya. :)
Tina, hope things are ok with you, I'm sure your picture will be great!
Welcome Bug. You'll find this is a great group of people here!!
I've been busy this wkend cleaning and moving things around. Yesterday my back and tummy was hurting. I just knew that TOM was going to be early and this morning there it was. Bummer! No wonder I felt like I had gained. :( The scale said I lost a lb but I don't feel like it.
Anyways, I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I am SO enjoying the cooler temps now. I LOVE fall!! Not so keen on winter but I LOVE fall. ;)
Have a GREAT day everyone, take care......Sis :D

Ack, Tammy!!! I'm so sorry to hear about "The Incident." It makes a good case to your school board about being understaffed, if you can "spin" it that way (I know, I hate to put it quite that way, but you get my meaning, I hope). I coach a high school speech team in my community, but am not a full- or part-time employee (even though I coach 6 months of the year) and although I've never had the need to subdue a child, I do find myself holding back from touching unnecessarily. This year, all that got thrown out the window when a member of our team was killed in a car accident. Then, it was a Hug-O-Rama, and honestly, has been since then. But still it can be scary--in this litigious world, to touch a child at all, whether for discipline (even grabbing an arm), comfort, encouragement, whatever, can mean a trip to the courtroom if the parents want to make "something" out of it. My heart goes out to you, and I hope all of the parents that know you rally behind you.

Cheers! And I've got a pile of magazines to sort through, too, if you get really bored..... :)

Welcome to the group Bug!!

Susan, believe me, I am definitely counting down the days!!
Thanks to ALL OF YOU for your support. The lawyer will be told about the conditions on the playground, and about numerous other things. The first day of school we told the supt. that there were too many kids out there. Some of the teachers came up with a solution to have the 3rd grade go outside at a different time. The supt. said NO. Maybe that will come back to bite him in the butt. Hope so.

The father of the boy thinks that I should have done more, and he is supporting me. (I heard that from another parent.) Last year there was a bus driver that was beating on a kid on her bus. I don't remember how long she was off (maybe 2 weeks), but she still has a job. My situation wasn't violent like that, and I've already been out 3 days. It will be 4 on Monday because they told me to prepare for a sub. There is a board meeting on Monday night. Maybe they are waiting for that.

I still feel like part of the reason it is dragging out is because of Bob's visits to board meetings, letters to the paper, and the vote NO for the levy sign in our yard.

Hi,
Hope you are having a great day. I got up and did some outside chores and then went to Lawry's Prime Rib's for a friend's birthday celebration. Now, I'm getting ready to firgure out what to teach this week.

Tammy, I think the superintendent is going to be very sorry when this is all done. I'm sorry you are having to go through this. It makes me sick.

Tina, Have you gotten your painting?

Mimi, how does Dan like his job at Arby's?

Jody, could you just make your dish for us? I'm going to check out that recipe.

Sis, hope you getting to feeling better!

Erin, do you have a busy week planned?

Evening,
It's been a nice, hot day here. We went down to Galveston and spent the day. We did not get into the water, though. Just went to church, ate lunch and rode around. We ended up at McDonald's for a hot fudge sundae. It was soooo good. I will exercise twice as long tomorrow. :)

Tammy, I agree that those people will be very, very sorry they messed with you. Hang in there!!!!!

Susan, I haven't gotten my needlepoint canvas yet. The guy has to receive my money order first. He should get it tomorrow. I'm anxious.

Sis, it's good to hear from ya. Cool weather???? It may be here by January.
Hi to everyone else here.

Hey, ladies!!

Goddess - thank you for that recipe - it's a bit 'harder' than I thought it would be, but, I think I am going to try it this next week. :c) You must be quite the chef!

Tammy - your life is like something out of a movie, right now. Unreal. I am praying for you and your situation.

auntie - Yes! I DO have a busy week!!! We are in our 3rd week of school, and we start our trips to the Library, tomorrow. We are also taking advantage of living so close to historic St. Augustine - and going to the Old Fort and jail. Maybe even the Fountain of Youth. We'll do that Thursday (depending on weather) - Friday evening, we're going to Family NIght at a waterpark. Lots of fun!!!! We tracked Ophelia the hurricane, and learned alot. This week we are brainstorming (well, THEY are going to brainstorm) ways to help victims of Katrina. Not only that, but they are going to act on their ideas - THIS week. Lots of fun!!!!

I'll talk to you soon!
