I started the boards tonight in case I don't get a chance to get on here in the morning. I have my job interview at 10.

I hope and pray all our Louisiana ladies are ok... You are all in my thoughts and prayers... please post and let us know how you are.

I will post challenges when I get back tomorrow, unless someone has an idea and wants to beat me to it! :)

Remember, its Metal Monster Monday...

MMM- Down a pound. It was actually two yesterday morning, but we had a big dinner at church last night...it was Persian food, and of course I had to taste everything...including the Baklava.

Tom went back to work this morning...its sad since vacation was really nice, and relaxed. He has three more weeks to take...so at least there is something to look forward to! :)

I don't know what the deal is. I exercised every day. I ate well most of the time. Better than I have for awhile, anyway. I'm up AGAIN! NOw it says 192!!!! I wonder if my scale is wrong. IT's an old one that I got from Walmart, the cheapest available. I did balance it before I got on.

Oh well. I've got alot to do today. Hope everyone else has better luc

Talitha: Bear with it. I know, plateaus suck...specially when they have a slight incline to them...but you'll get over it, just stick to plan. ;) It'll start to show soon, before you know it!!

Melf: Wow...let us know how your friend makes out in their mobile home!!

Monet: Glad you're down a couple and I hope your monday is turning up better than your weekend.

I'm down three...which is no suprise because it was added weight after being bad for a few weeks. I also started my DD on SB because she's gaining weight right in the middle and for no good reason other than she's a snacking sugarholic and I want her to see that if she eats properly, she'll have the figure she wants. I feel kind of funny because she's only 11, but she really is getting chubby. I was buying clothes for her last week and had to buy juniors' size extra large so, you know, it would have some slack in the tummy. I just hate to death when you see girls that have some chub on them and they wear these jeans that are too small and T-shirts that show every single roll and even the indent of their belly button and I just refuse to let my DD go around like that. So, it's time to cut the snacks and sugar and see if we can drop a couple five pounds off her...lets see how it goes...

okay...off to get coffee...prayers for you guys in Katrina's path!!

Hi everyone,
My DH and I had a great time on our little getaway, but now it is time to get back on the straight and narrow. Our time started Wednesday night with dinner at his aunt's, and she fixed dinner of a casserole of baked chicken over white rice with cream of mushroom soup mixed with sour cream. Then a vegetable of corn, carrots and broccoli mixed together with butter sauce, and dessert of ice cream. :yikes: It was downhill from there!!!! ;)
So MMM was not good and I am up a couple of pounds, but hope to be down to my last weeks weight by next Monday.
We did get in our steps every day except for one--yesterday was 13000 steps.

This Saturday is the first Gator game of football season, and we will be driving up to Gainesville on Friday, and coming back Sunday morning. I'll have to be careful this weekend, but think I can manage for Friday and Saturday nights. I will take my own cereal for breakfast.

I've been watching, probably like the rest of us, all the news reports about Katrina and New Orleans. I was horrified to watch the images of all those poor people standing out in the hot and wet for 5 hours just to get into the Superdome in New Orleans. How sad for them. I pray that NO will escape flooding. It's a wonderful (although hedonistic) city with much history and beautiful buildings. And I think of SEF and Fruit, who look to be in line for a big hit from the storm. I think SEF lives in Slidell, which is probably gonna get it BAD! At least they are on the north side of Lake Ponchatrain, so may not get flooding from the lake.

Monet, thanks again for starting the board this week. We appreciate you so much. You help keep us going. I don't know what is rocking your world, and can only imagine what is causing you some pain. It doesn't look like it is Tom, so that is a relief. We all love you, Monet, and pray that this will pass soon for you. Don't forget, that "in the Grand Scheme of Things", your life is not out of Control, if you get my drift. I wonder what the One Who Has Control wants you to learn in this situation? :)

Well, I'm gonna go take a walk. If I don't get that morning walk, it is hard to get all my steps. I have to run to Home Depot today and get a bill straightened out that they have totally goofed up to the tune of over $200. Also have some other chores. So better get going.

Have a great MMM everyone. Talitha, whow the MM that you are stronger than it is. Hang tough and don't let it beat you!!!

Good morning Ladies

I hope everyone in the way of the storm is safe. I can't beleive Missy and Terry are staying put. Melf, Sef. praying you are safe and no damage.

Bob, have you heard anymore from Deb?

It started raining here yesterday (the wholetime we were on the boat it poured) and it is still coming down. We are supposed to gets high winds and storms from Katrina starting tomorrow. We needed rain, but this is too much.

We had a good weekend. Eating was good most of the time. In fact 2 days we only ate 1 meal. Saturday was all going good until we went to a ballpark for fan appreciate night. They had wings and I had a few of them, plus 2 brownies and 2 peach dacquiries. yesterday we went out on a friend's boat. I took fruit salad. They made a brisquit and I had 1 illegal hamburger bun. A handfull of chex mix. This morning the scale is up 7 pounds. I was so upset. I did not take my water pills at all yesterday and I couldn't budge my rings. I know most of it is water, but it is so frustrating.

Monet, praying that whatever has happened will be resolved quickly and easily.

Gator, Sounds like you didn't do too bad on your weekend away.

I didn't take notes and now I can't remember if there were anyother posts. I'll be back to finish up later. Have a great day.

Talitha, sorry the scale was up. Hang in there, it will move eventually.

Tech, glad to see you back on here. We didn't know what the weather was doing for the whole time you were gone. Good idea getting your dd started on this WOE. If nothing else, it is just better for her healthwise. Hope she does well.

Well my eating was horrible over the week end and I'm up 3 lbs. EEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! I'm so weak. I hate legal things but way to much and also had lots of wine. Well I even feel better getting it over with. Hopefully next week I'll have gotten it together. The week end are awful for me. Don't know what I'm going to eat today. Haven't even had breakfast yet. Can you tell I slept late?

Monet- You are a rock.. Thank you for starting the board. This place is so lucky to have you. I hope you job interview goes really well.

Talitha- Maybe you do need to get a new scale. Its so discourageing to do everything right and then step on the scale to disappointment. Could this be water weight gain? I wish you a good week.

techwife- A big congrads on losing the three lbs. Well if your daughter learns to eat right she'll do better as she grows up cause Sugar Busters is such good healthy food.

Gatorgal- Sorry about the 2 lbs. and hopefully will be off next Monday. Boy that food was a SB's nightmare, LOL.....

Jack-K- Oh I'm so sorry on the 7 lbs. You must retain water at the drop of a hat. Hopefully that will be off in a few days. TAKE THOSE WATER PILLS!

I'm praying for all the people in Louisana! I have a dear friend in Slidedell and can't get ahold of her. I'm sure worried for all of the people...

Toni: Don't despair the bad weekend...just dust off and start from here fresh and new...that's what Mondays are all about :s:

Julia: Ugh...those last few days/weeks of pregnancy are such a drag. :^: Try and take these last days/nights to get some sleep and squeek in a little 'Julia time' because once the baby comes, that will be over for a while and it'll be all baby time. I didn't get a lot of help from my DH when my DS was born...I think he was a little freaked out by him. I remember one day when DS was a month old or so I asked my DH to sit with him while I walked to the store with DD and when I got back he was mad at me because he had to go to the bathroom and didn't know what to do with him and I'm like, "Uh...bring him in the bathroom with you? What do you think I do when I have to go?" This being said after he was upset with me because I hadn't painted our son's bedroom yet with him in tow, but he couldn't even go to the bathroom... Men. That was a really rough time for us. Anyhow...try and enjoy your last days of PGhood.

Jack: So, you don't think I'm being mean putting my 11-year-old DD on a 'diet'? I don't think I am because SB isn't really a diet, just a way of eating that doesn't allow Twinkies and the like. I caved this morning and let her have a capri sun with her bacon, eggs and green-tipped banana...I couldn't exactly let her have coffee and water is yucky with breakfast, I think. She's lost a pound over the weekend, only because I tweeked the scale a little :s: I'm so mean, but I wanted her to be encouraged to continue. She's been a bit under the weather over the weekend with allergy enhanced cold symptoms and she really wanted some soup, so I made her decaf tea instead. My point is that I've been hard pressed to get her out of the house and exercising, but I think that'll change today. Weekends are really sluggish around here and today we're cleaning the house and going to gramma's house to go swimming at the beach. We have to get it in because Katrina's remnants are due here on Thursday and the weather will be yucky. And then it's back to school the day after Labor Day. I'm hoping she can loose a real 5 pounds by then...you know how easy the first 5-10 pounds is to loose on this WOE. I'm sure your weight gain is water...nobody can gain 7 pounds of real weight from one indiscriminate outing...it'll come off in no time, I'm sure!!

Gator: Just like me...once you start downhill, it's so hard to stop. Did I mention the potato skins I had at Fridays last week? I only ate half of them and then at about 11:30pm the next night I re-heated them and at the other six for a midnight snack. Not exactly legal on so many levels. I had soft serve twist ice cream at least a half dozen times and chocolate almond frozen custard at a really famous place in Rochester. Rock bottom all the way. But it was fun and now the weight gain is coming off. Sometimes its just fun to throw caution to the wind and enjoy for a couple days...

Okay...off to work on lunch... DD will be having pb&j...sugar free grape jam, sf peanut butter on sourdough with some carrots with LC ranch for dipping. I'll probably have a blueberry smoothie and some walnuts or something. We'll both be having water to drink.

It's breezy here but all is ok, Haven't even had much rain but oooooh how sad from all the reports on the weather channel!

Our friends from Hammond are here. They were forced to leave about 11pm & got here around 2am. I'm so glad because their area looks hard hit.

Howdy ya'll. Sorry for being gone most of last week. Life was hectic for sure. A tummy bug is going through the house one kiddo at a time. I think today may be mama's turn but I'm hoping I'm wrong. Weigh-in was good this week. Down 5 pounds from last week. So after losing, staying the same, gaining and losing again I'm down 4 pounds for the last 4 weeks. That puts me at 160.

Monet...I haven't had a chance to catch up from last week yet. ((hugzz)) I'm sorry you are going through something right now. You are in my prayers for sure. How did your interview go this morning?

Tech...it's good to help your daughter before she gets too big. Kids can be so cruel. As a kid that was always put on a diet I would suggest you make it as fun and as little as a diet as you can. And I agree with you about tight shirts...one of my pet peeves. :)

Jack-K...hang in there. You had a great loss last week and I'm sure once you take your water pill you will find most if not all of the 7 pounds is gone. But I do understand your frustration. Last week I just wanted to crawl in a hole.

Talitha....((hugzz)) hang in there. Since you know you are eating right and exercising the scales will soon follow. Try to go by how you feel and how your clothes fit. Trust me when I say I know how you feel. I got stuck at 154 for about 3 years and it drove me batty. Hince the going off the wagon and gaining 11 pounds. Don't fall into that trap.

Gator...Happy belated anniversary. ((hugzz))

Julia...hey little mama. ((hugss))

Toni....hang in there sweet lady. Those pounds will be back off before you know it.

Melf...I'm so glad you are safe from this aweful storm.

Bob...((hugzz))

Poncho...howdy lady.

I'm feeling the need to go lay down. I'm so sorry for anyone I missed.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

I got back from my interview this morning and had to hurry out to Harry's/Whole Foods before my friend got here. I was just settling down to post when she showed up, and she just left! So, here I am.

The interview went fairly well. I don't think I have much, if any, competition for the job. As long as I don't scream at the kids or use obscenities, I am probably in! :) Its a nice situation...just 6 hours one day a week. The school is a small private Christian school with about 70 students. I will teach them all in six classes...so its not too bad. They wanted me to do a trial on Wednesday, but I was not ready to start so fast if I was going to be observed, and judged, so I put it off a week. This will also give the present art teacher a chance to say good bye to the kids. I may also go over there and observe some, so I can meet her and find out what all she has done with the kids in the past. I liked the headmistress, and her receptionist was nice too. The school seemed colorful and the teachers dedicated....so we shall see!

I hope someone hears from Fruit and can report on how she is. I went and read news accounts of the storm and it looks awful! I think BOB said SEF was evacuating...but I know Missy said Terry wanted to stay. :yikes:

A word on my cryptic post over the weekend. Things have improved somewhat, but the whole thing is not totally resolved. No, it is not anything to do with my wonderful husband and I...we are fine. I do appreciate all your kind words, and prayers. Very much so. :grouphug:

COUNTRY: I am sorry you are not feeling well.

MELF: Please keep us posted...check in often. Its great to see you on here again!

TECH: As long as you don't make a big deal out of the weight issue, I don't think its mean to put your daughter on SB. Try and explain to her what sugar does to her body, and how it will mess her up in the long run. She may be ready to grow some, and that is why she has 'thickened' a bit... the main thing is to help her learn healthy habits without hurting her self esteem.

KENG: Good to see you! Please have your hubby either email me, or post for you when Junior arrives, ok? Are you getting excited? We have a friend who is about ready to deliver her second...hers is a girl. Maybe we will have to get the two of you together!

JACK: I feel for you with the gain. My water retention problems have improved with this new approach to eating...but I have had that problem of gaining way too much in too short a time!

GATOR: I bet you can get those celebratory pounds off quickly! Yes, I know things are never out of control, or beyond His scope...it doesn't make them easier to go through at times, just instills a hope for the outcome. Thank you for the kind words.

TALITHA: Could you have any hormone issues going on? I know how you feel...staying on plan and exercising, and then seeing a gain! Are you snacking? Maybe try the some of the ideas from the leptin diet...like not snacking, eating protein for breakfast, not eating after dinner, and cutting back on carbs. Its hard to say...but if you could post your menus on here, we could all take a look at them.

I better get off here and go get something done! :)

Good afternoon ladies.

Thought I would jump on here before heading home.
The girls have a VB game at 6:30 so I guess dinner will have to wait until afterwards.

bf: 2 eggs, coffee, 1/2 c juice
lunch, salad with red cabbage, 2T cheese, 2 thin slivers of turkey, 1T bacon bits. 2T 1000 island dressing.
Snack: 7 pepperoni bites.
Dinner:????
Did get my TM in this morning. Will do some wts later tonight.

Tech, No I don't think you are mean at all. If you don't catch her weight now, it go get bad later. Try to make it fun for her. Let her suggest some meals and show her how to plan the meal and work around her starchy carbs. Keep her involved as much as possible. Good idea tweaking the scale. Gotta motivate.

Melf, so glad you are ok and didn't get any damage. I'm worried about Missy and JackieO and Sef.

Crystal, for your 5 lbs loss. Sure hope you are not the next "victim" to the bug.I wonder if I will ever see 160 again.

Monet, Glad the interview went well. I knew theywould love you. Nice getting paid for something you love to do and now you will have to devote some time to it. Glad things are looking better there.

Heart, have a good first day of your job tomorrow.

Everyone have a great evening.

Just checking in. Trying to find out something about Missy & Terry. I'm sure they've lost power. What scares me is the flooding. They do have a two story house, but they can't live up there long!

Yes, Sef is gone for a while and will contact me when she returns.

Glad MELF got on here and report to y'all. I got an email from her as she said.

OH MY GAWD...I forgot all about JackieO....Hope she's ok...

Debbie got back her power today and she said she feels like it's a new world! Her Mom & Dad are leaving today for NC...keep your fingers crossed they don't have anything happen like last year!

ANYONE HEARD FROM SUSAN???? There are Tornado warnings all around her but not in Auburn proper. I'll try to her to answer an email and then report back to y'all.

When I hear, I'll let y'all know!

Well, DH was told this morning at 8:30 that he had to go to Vermont for the week...again  But that's okay because this is the last week of summer vacation before school starts next week, so it'll give me some good time to spend with the kids, especially DD, to watch some movies and catch up on the Disney shows my DD likes that I have no clue about. I used to like watching Lizzy McGuire with her, but I'm really lagging on what's on these days. But for now, the TV is OFF :D and both kids are working on a chemistry set they got at ECHO in Vermont. I just heard my DS say "Oooohhh...that was awesome!!!", so apparently, it's a success.

I, on the other hand, have been cleaning the accumulated cat hair out of my bedroom and scrubbing my bathroom and my living room furniture, etc etc etc... It's been a good three weeks with no vaccumming since I've been gone so much. I'm trying to get it all done today so I can relax and enjoy the kids the rest of the week.

Tomorrow I'm going to make WW pizza with DD and make our own dough together. We have a little recipe we made buns out of for dinner a few weeks ago and they came out a little chewy, but I think that's the WW talking...so I'm thinking we can make the same recipe and make pizza out of it. This way I can show her the ingredients in the White bread I have for DS and show her why making WW dough is important...and since she wants to be a chef (but sometimes she wants to be a fashion designer), I'm trying to be active in giving her some cooking experience early on.

Jack: Did you know that 1000 Islands dressing was created in the town 10 miles from me in the Thousand Islands? 1000 Islands Dressing (http://www.1000-islands.com/inn/dressing.htm) Interestingly enough, my kids go to Thousand Islands Central Schools that combine my town and Clayton, where it was invented.

Mrs. Monet: I can't imagine a more fabulous person to be an art teacher!! They will be some LUCKY kids to have you!! :D

Crystle: Hope the tummy bug skips you and exits stage right!! Nothing's worse!! Bleh!! And nice job losing the 4 pounds!! :cp:

Melf: Glad you were able to have your friends come to stay with you. I'm sure they were greatful for a place to go!!

Okay...off to find something legal for dinner...that my DD will like...and that can be modified so DS will like it. I'm just snacking away on walnuts at the moment. And I have wash to fold.

Yes, it's me...three times in a row...

Grilled Cheese sandwiches!! DS can have his on white bread, DD can have her's on 7-grain or Sourdough and I can have mine on legal bread, but with swiss and a tomato! Voila!! And it's quick and easy... ;) I'll make a salad, too...although DD only eats lettuce in a salad...I'm working on her :(

For breakfast we had two bacon slices, Kashi seven grain cereal with half a green tipped banana sliced on top

Lunch I had ham and swiss on sourdough, DD had american cheese with mayo and mustard on sourdough and we both had grapes and strawberries and water with it. That's a big part of what I'm trying to get her to do is drink more water. She says she doesn't like to because then she has to pee too much....which is the whole point, I told her...

Okay...I'm really going now...Kris

Tech, I agree with the general comments here re. your daughter "dieting." I have heard so many stories from women who remember their "first diet" when they were 11 or 12. It somehow gave them some weird sort of self-identity as "fat." So I think your approach with your daughter from the cooking healthy angle, rather than "dieting" is a good one. You might even get her ready for school, gleefully and with your little "plot" (yours and your daughter's) be way ahead of the other kids in science by studying a little about how our bodies work and how food converts into energy, and what is healthy. You might tape some food channel shows--you'd have to pick carefully--that are easy but show healthy eating. Something with the Barefoot Contessa might not work in this regard!! :) Anyway, maybe she could end up preparing the menus for some of y'all meals, and explain why she chose those foods and how they contribute to whole body health, and what she did not include and why they might have contributed to dis-ease. Etc. ETc. Anyway, good luck and we are interested in hearing how it all turns out.

Food today:
B. 48 gms. shredded wheat 'n bran with 1 peach and 1/2 C skimmed milk.
L. 2 oz. leftover filet mignon, 1 small salad with lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli and chick peas, with lo cal dressing. 1/2 carrot-cheese melt sandwich, on WW pita. At a HFS restaurant.
25 fresh cherries.
D. Homemade roastbeef hash made with 1 T. oil, 1 onion, 1 small lo carb potato (150 gms.) and 4 oz. leftover roast beef.
Lots of protein today!!
I changed clothes and forgot to put my pedometer back on, but I will have walked a lot today.

BOB--Thanks for getting in touch with the others for us. Is it Laurie who was going back to school to get her degree? And WHERE!! ?? is FILLISE??? I've been a good little Republican. I need her to get back on the board.
BOB--How are things going for you at work? And how is your Mom?

Here's my new ticker. It is supposed to look sad and gloomy.

I've been watching the weather channel all day & it's like watching a horror film! OMG!! My thoughts & prayers have been with Laurie as this storm headed straight for her. Although it had decreased in strength, the rian & wind is still bad.

I also had forgotten about JackieO in N.O. Hope we hear from Missy soon but I'm afraid it will be awhile.

Hi all. Here I thought I was doing good being able to post today and theres already 2 pages :) . I got home from work , cooked dinner , ate , did dishes, ran to the gym for 50 min, went by moms, came home and emptied the dishwasher and I have 1 1/2 hours left before bed ! Good time juggling today.
I was up 1 1/2 pounds this morning but thats normal. I always seem to go up 1 or 2 before I head back down. So Ill just keep plugging away here during the week.
Though tonight when I got home I was really wanting something yummy to eat so I have a recipe for a LC SF 3 minute choc cake which I made and it really hit the spot. I havnt made it forever and now I remember why.. Its too darn good. LOL.

Talitha- Hang in there ! Remember the scale lies alot. Last week I exercised like the dickens and ate really strict and thought for sure Id have a loss..but nada. So you just gotta keep doing what you know to do and it will work.

Kris- congrats on the 3 pound loss ! Enjoy your time with your kids. My Ex was in the Navy when my kids were little and it gave me some wonderful time with the kids. We did alot of playing ...

Gator- Cant do much when your someone else is doing the cooking. I have that problem sometimes eating at my moms but I figure it isnt everyday and its special for her to cook for others.

Jack-k- Water weight is the pits but at least it comes off fairly fast.

Toni- Ditto on what Kris said :grouphug:

Crystle- woo hoo on the 5 pounds thats Great !! 4 a month is awesome. Id be estatic with that !

Monet- Its so good to hear about your interview. Sounds very promising. Im glad to hear things are a bit better and will continue praying that they get better all the way .

Best wishes to anyone I missed . And prayers for the ones dealing with all the bad weather.

Just a quick check in before the next cell hits. We have had tornadoes all around us and horrible rain and wind. Everytime it gets calm, I totally freak out. (we were hit by a tornado about 7 years ago, and it knocked down 14 trees in my yard alone...the calm is what comes before the tornado hits...) There is major flooding around here, and with tons more rain predicted, it doesn't look good.

Dinner tonight was stir fried beef and asparagus and brown basmati rice. Lunch was legal, but I honestly can't remember what I ate! :o

The cats are freaking out...along with me. I hate storms!

I hope we can get some news on Missy, and JackieO, and the others in the path of the storm. Was Meridian, MS hit hard? Laurie seemed worried about it... I did not expect such severe weather here so soon. The tornado warnings are in effect for another hour and the watches go until like one o'clock in the morning. I don't remember Opal being this bad, and she was still like a Cat 1 when she hit Atlanta...

:grouphug: Love you all....

IT was pretty crazy last night. Selah was afraid of the 'dunder' for the first time. She usually likes it. She slept with is half the night, even after the storm was gone.
I had a pitty party all day yesterday. I ate a slice of carrot cake at linch, and a few bites of Trav's Boston creme pie at dinner. I feel like such a loser!

I'm on the way to the Y to ahnd in the rest of my paperwork, and then there is babysitting at the church today to raise $$ for our India mission team. I'll be taking advantage of that and going out for a cup of coffee :) I'm determined to stay perfectly OP at laest until Friday b/c trav is out of town. Then I should feel more motivated to continue.

Hope everyone is safe!!

Good Morning! The rain is about over for now...looks like the sun is peeking through the clouds. Whew... For so many, it will be a morning of numb disbelief. I remember well how we felt the morning after the tornado ripped through our neighborhood, looking at the devastation and thinking it was just too weird against the blue skies and sunshine.... I hope we hear from Missy and Terry soon.

I slipped up last night and drank a cup of coffee just before bed. It would probably have been fine if I had not laced it with cream and agave. The scale was merciful this morning though...I was the same as yesterday.

Breakfast this morning was a smoothie made with water, a peach, a bit of almond oil, and 1.5 scoops of protein, plus two slices of uncured bacon, and a cup of coffee with org. half and half.

I keep thinking there is something I am supposed to be doing today...but I can't remember what! I hate it when I feel this way, because I usually DO have something to do, and I screw up! :(

TALITHA: Enjoy your morning out! I am sorry Selah was afraid of the thunder...I bet it was because it was just so menacing out there. I did not notice much lightening, but I heard there was a lot of it a bit over from here at 85 and Indian Trail. My son did notice that the clouds were swirling...not a good thing at all!

Just a quick peak to check on Laurie, Missy, JackieO, Melf. Sure hope everyone is ok. Poor NO is in such bad shape. I just heard a levy broke last night. More flooding. They probably don't have power so it will be awhile before we hear from them. Sending prayers their way. Be back shortly

Monet & Talitha: It's nice to hear from you guys this morning with all the tornadoes around Altanta last night. I also wonder how Laurie fared last night...the center of circulation was just to the west of Meridian, putting her at the windiest spot of the storm. :(

Okay...cleaning the dining room and the kids bedrooms today...which shouldn't take too long...and then it's OUTSIDE to play, ride bikes, etc. Katrina is supposed to be darkening our door tomorrow, so we have to play while we can.

BF was SBD wheat squares and milk with some coffee. It's amazing to me how much produce costs and how fast we go through it. I'm sooo out of fruit and I jsut spent $178 on Friday on groceries. Payday isn't until Thurday and I'm out of milk and with NO fruit. My DH is going to be mad at me for weeks at how much I spent and now I need more... :( . I'll have to scrape through some piggy banks to see what I can scrounge. Jeez...I can't wait till I can get a job and contribute. Well, I don't want to stop being at home with DS and DD, but I'm so sick of my DH's jabs of how he's the only one that makes any money around here...it's really horrible because I've always worked since I was 16 and going from working two jobs to being a sahm and relying on only my DH's income for everything was a lot for me to adjust to and I really hate having the fact that he's the only money maker tossed in my face...it's really a drag...especially when he tells me that if I were the only money maker and he were the stay at home parent, the house would be in much better shape than it is with me. Not exactly good for the self esteem :^: ...

Okay...enough whining...I have to go figure out what I'm going to do for food the next few days...

Last year just about this time we were still picking our way out of hurricane Charlie. We still did not have electricity, and were w/o it for 10 days. I suspect that Missy is also without power. I can just imagine what it looks like in her neighborhood. I hope all the other gals check in with us asa they get power and phone/cable service back.

Jackie--I hope you made it through the rain OK. They said it was going right through your area.

Got my morning 2 mile walk in and am down one of those pounds already. Have to go to weight lifting in a few.

Talitha. I know how easy it is to just say the heck with it and go off plan for a week or two (or more) when the scale doesn't budge. That's why we all dread those plateaus. But since this is NOT a diet, right?, and since you feel so good when you eat properly and omit all that sugar and white flour from your system, then focus on your lifestyle, and also your determination not to let any scale dictate your mood. In fact, why don't you really rev up your determination and then stay OFF the scale for a couple of weeks, and feel good about how great you are eating. Then, hop back on the scale and see what has happened. Set a goal, then, for 1/2-1/4 pound a week, and that will be success when you achieve it. Keep the faith, girl. You can do this.

OK I'm back. We were supposed to have a bid going in at 10:00 and we were running around like crazy and discovered it got postponed until 1:00. So now we can breath a little.

Got in my TM this morning and my weights last night. Had to change dinner from Chinese stir fry to burgers on the grill with spinach and northern beans and applesauce. I through together a meatloaf this morning which I had planned for tomorrow night but with all this rain, I figured DH couldn't grill out.

I've been watching the news and the devestation is horrible. I feel so sorry for those poor people. Their homes are ruined, cars floated away, some have actually lost family members. I was so worried about all the gals on here. I wish we would hear something. I always wanted to move further south, but think I'll stay where I am. I couldn't deal with the threat all the time.

Bf: mini ww bagel w 1 T pb.
lunch 1/2 c tuna on SBD ww crackers, peach
dinner: meatloaf, butter beans, green beans

Bob, thanks for the report on Deb. Glad things are getting back to normal there. Are you getting any affects of Katrina?

Tech, check the receipe boards, I have several recipes for ww pizza crust. One you don't have to make in the bread machine which is really good. I checked my files and I don't have it here at work, but I'm sure you can find one in the files. It's hard living on one income these days. I know we couldn't do it even with our kids grown.

Gator,I was just remembering what you all went through last year. Glad you were spared this year. We are having horrible rains right now and everything is flooded. We are to get high winds 40 mph later today. Now I hear we are in a tornado box. Fun.

Toni, sure hope you hear from your friend soon. I have been watching a lot too and it is so sad. NO is one of my favorite places and I am afraid it will be ruined.

Melf, have you heard from JackieO lately? She hasn't posted in a while. Glad you are all ok.

Cindy, Don't you just love it when you have good time management? Some days just don't work out though. Seems like I am working from the minute I get up until I go to bed. Want to share that cake receipe?

Monet, keep safe, I heard there were many tornadoes your way. They are heading our way too.

Talitha, hang in there, some days we have to feel sorry for ourselves. Going to the Y is a much better therapy. Have fun.

Got to run. Have a great day, be back later this afternoon.

Ahhhh....just got out of the shower after a struggle with the kids all morning to keep the tv off. We are all so addicted to it and I'm noticing the effect on my little one and his short attention span and I'm trying like crazy to lick it now while he's still young. Along with myself!! I asked a while ago if anyone had ever heard of or know about adult attention deficit disorder because I think I have this problem...but don't want to take any drugs for it. I attribute it to being the very first generation of Sesame Streeters that had unlimited access to TV when I was little and my husband is no better, either. When I was a kid, the TV came on with the morning local news, then we went to school...if we stayed home because of summer or a snow day, then it went to Phil Donohue and then Price is Right, then the noon news, then soaps, then afternoon gameshows, then Mike Douglas, then the evening news where we would swing the tv around to face the dinner table :( , then the news magazine type shows or game shows, then the evening sitcoms, etc, etc. I'm sure I grew up typically like most american kids, but I also have a very short attention span, myself, and I"m sure all that tv growing up didn't help one bit. I remember one third grade report card where the teacher said, "Sometimes I think Kris is paying attention to me, but then I realize she's looking right through me in a daydream..." That's me today still...so, I'm just in a little panic knowing that right now is the time to keep my son from being the same way, but it's really hard because my DH is a TV fanatic...has to have it on always all weekend...and gets MAD at me when I suggest we turn it off, saying that I'm depriving the whole family of being a typical family with the TV on. You know...who's the mommy here, anyway?

So, anyhow...I'm about to take the kids on a bike ride to the lighthouse and to get ingredients at the store to make pizza dough for dinner. The kids have put together a floor puzzle of the united states...with all but the tiniest of states as their own puzzle piece, which I like...and they've played a game of war with a deck of cards and now DS is playing quietly in his room with his hot wheels on his roadmap carpet...which does my weary heart good!! I got into this panic when I took my DS to T-ball and he would not stand still or pay attention to the coach for anything. He just ran around in circles and pretented to be an alien flying around. Cute...but when I said jokingly, about how this is what happens when they play too much gamecube, everyone looked at me like, "You let him play....videogames!!!"...I felt like the worst mother on the planet. One mother was like, oh...we only let them play with their little hand-held games in the car only and then the rest of the time they are outside riding the horses or tending to their chores or..you know..on their paper route at 4! (not really, I'm being sarcastic) I'm also frustrated because this was gonna be the summer I let DS play in the backyard alone in the sandbox, since it's totally fenced in, and be adventuresome and play in the sandbox, but when he does, Junior runs at full speed in laps around the yard and goes right through the sandbox, whiping out what Kyle was working on and flinging sand everyewhere, etc...Junior cant' sit still for anything, either. In fact, the minute I let Kyle outside, Junior completely creams Kyle and knocks him right over and then Kyle is screaming and crying and has scratch marks. I'm so overwhelmed with Junior. He's easily 70 lbs and totally into running and jumping on people and playing rough. I have no clue what to do with him. We've been gone for two weeks and next week he gets shinked (fixed) and then the week after that, I have an appointment for me and Junior to see a professional trainer for a private obedience lesson. I can hardly wait. I'd love to take him for walks again, but at this point, he's about an inch from overpowering me and getting away. The trainer told me to get ahold of a prong collar and that will help me to get him under control until she can work with us.

Ugh..okay...I'm done ranting..this is turning into more of a journal entry and a 'woe is me' tale. I'm just a little depressed today, I guess. I just need to get out and get some exercise and then all will be well...

Okay...time for me to turn off the 'puter for a little bit and get the show on the road...

Kris

Wow watching the t.v. with all the horrible pictures of New Orleans and Mississippi. I'm praying for everyone there. Just ate to much toast. I had to go out this morning and didn't have breakfast before I left and when I got back I was starving. So I blew it. Trying to hang on to a sweater I've bid on, on ebay. I really want it but someone else does too. LOL. DH just came home early from work as he doesn't feel good. Need to go get some salmon out of the freezer for dinner..... Be back later...

Boy, things in LA and New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama coast look BAD. I hope SEF is OK. I think she lives in Slidell. I saw this on another board.
" ... his girlfriend's apartment is underwater and they do not have renters insurance. Her parents' house (also in Slidell) is a total loss."
I will try to attach a pix from Slidell. If it is not attached, well, it just doesn't work.

Gail, Narda got an email from SEF saying they were evacuating -to I think Texas...

The weather seems to have cleared here now. I went and walked around WalMart...I promise I made two circuits before I stopped to shop at all! :) I was there about an hour and 15 minutes, and most of that time was walking around. I did purchase some yarn, (of course!) and I got another bra, some cat food and a few knitting items I have been wanting. I also got an organizer. I hope its not just wishful thinking!

Lunch was a cup of coffee with cream, two slices of deli chicken and a wedge of laughing cow lite, a couple baby carrots, and a spoonful of almond butter. Not the best lunch, but I fell asleep for a bit and when I woke up, I was pretty hungry and wanted to get it over with. I am noticing my fascination with food has diminished since I started this Leptin program. Breakfast was a smoothie made with a peach, water and 1.5 scoops of protein, and coffee with cream, and two pieces of uncured bacon.

Hello everyone, I’m new to Sugar Busters. I have been on Atkins for about a year and ½ and bumped into a huge 6 month stall after losing 85lbs. I’m basically treating this diet as Atkins but adding fruit, milk and cereal. Could you tell me if there is a list of commons items found at the market so I know what else I can eat? The book is a little vague on it. Can I eat Cheerios? How about low carb breads?

It is still :rain: here. We are expecting high winds too. I was hoping we would have heard from some of the gals, but I'm sure they are w/o power.

Heading home. No plans tonight so I will probably get my lower body workout in. It takes longer than the rest of the workouts.

Chris, Good for you limiting the TV for the kids. TV is stupid and there is nothing on but dumb reality shows. Maybe you could strike a deal with them if they read so much or something else worthwhile. then they can have an hour of TV. Sure there is adult ADD. There was just a article in our Sunday magazine about the symptoms. I'm sure it is on the net.

toni, good luck winning that sweater.

Gator, the more pics I see of NO, MS & AL, the worse it gets. Sure wish we would hear from Laurie or Missy and JackieO. JackieO lives very close to NO, closer than Missy.

Monet, You are gonna have to be banned from WalMart. You do good walking and then buy stuff. I went to the store to get a baby gift and of course had to buy something for me. So I'm just as bad.

Jamabob, if you could find the SB pocket guide it is a list of foods to buy at the store. They say shop the perimeter of the store. Produce, veggies, meats, dairy. 100% ww bread is fine. Brown rice, whole grian cereals. These count as starchy carbs and you can have up to 3 a day, but most lose better with only 1 or 2. Remember to keep the grams of sugar to 3 and under. Hope you can join our board. You will gets lots of support and help here. Oh, congrats on your 85 lb loss.

Have a great evening everyone.

Howdy ya'll. Feeling much better today. The scales were way down this morning but I'm sure that's because all I ate was some saltines and broth yesterday.

My heart just aches for everyone touched by this hurricane. Loss of home, jobs, life..it's so far reaching.

I'm not at the house so I won't get to replies but know each of you is a blessing to me. ((((((((hugzz)))))))))))

JAM: Welcome to Sugarbusters! We are glad you are here! This is a great group for support...so jump right in and ask any questions you have...someone is sure to have the answer. (you might find more than one answer! ) I think its easier to say what is NOT allowed on Sugarbusters... white flour, white potatoes (sweet potatoes are ok), white rice (brown is ok, and basmati is ok), sugar, corn, beets, watermelon, pineapple, honey... If you chose foods that are low on the GI (glycemic index) list (mendosa.com has a good list for the GI) you shoudl do fine. Ok foods include whole grains, vegetables, fruits (except the ones listed above) low fat dairy, low fat meats and seafood. Make sure any bread products you purchase are 100% whole wheat. If it says enriched wheat flour, that is NOT ok. Jackie mentioned the 3 grams of sugar rule...so read labels and make sure its under 3. The new book may say 5, but I stick to the 3... I also limit starches to two or three a day at most. Drink plenty of water... You did great on Atkins, and I think you will do fine on Sugarbusters. There are a few others who have switched from Atkins to Sugarbusters on here...I am one of them. I hope I can be of help to you if you need it. :) Cheerios are whole grain, but high on the GI. If you only have them occasionally, they are probably ok. Low carb breads are hard to call. You would probably do better with the 100% whole wheat, but if you like the low carb breads and are used to them, you could continue using them and see how it goes.

techwife
08-30-2005, 06:27 PM
Jamabob...I'm pretty darn sure that Cheerios are off limits or I'd be eating them myself for breakfast. Low carb bread, I'm also only pretty sure on...that is if you can stand having a month's worth of saliva sucked out in one serving of bread :p I ate a low carb bagel once about a year ago and I think I'm still recovering. I think the sponge I wash the floor with would be better. The trick is for me to ignore the label of how many grams of this or that and go straight to the ingredients. If you see the words, white, enriched or bleached anywhere in the description of what kind of flour is in it, it's off limits...obviously, so is honey, high fructose corn syrup or sugar of any kind. I go right to the bakery of my grocery store and get the fresh baked bread...sourdough, 7 grain, whole wheat. Don't be fooled if you see whole wheat that is enriched...the enriched wins out over the WW and makes it illegal. The cereal I bought the other day was Kashi 7 grain flakes and SBD whole grain squares with cinnamon...I put some sliced strawberries on it and its really good...with a tiny bit of splenda.

Oh...another tip...if you drink coffee, put half and half and splenda in it if you don't drink it black. Powedered creamer is a no-no...as is anything with starchy things...read the ingredients. Corn is off limits, so is corn starch, which is in SF pudding...but I still have some from time to time. As long as the scale is going in the right direction, I don't think it hurts.

The reason I go straight to the ingredients is that sometimes something legal has astronomic grams of sugar...like plain yogurt...no sugar whatsoever in the ingredients, but it has something like 19g of sugar...but it's lactose, so it's legal!! Or maybe it was cottage cheese...

Another little trick is to get the low carb items...LC dressings, snack bars, etc are legal in limitation...but watch out for sugar alcohol...I know I'm not the only one here that has problems with gas :o after a sugar free chocolate bar...from the sugar alcohols in it. BUT, my point is that low carb usually equals low/no sugar and makes for some easy choices when you don't feel like reading the labels on everything.

My quick thinking meal plan is to include one protien (meat, cheese, etc) and at least two veggies or fruits with every meal. Such as, bacon or sausage with some berries and 1/2 a grapefruit for breakfast...cheese and triscuits for snacks...ham sandwich with swiss on legal bread...or if you want to cut out a starchy carb (bread), I take my ham and roll it up like it's on a deli tray with a slice of swiss inside and brown them in olive oil. Three of these and a peach and I've got lunch!! With no carbs!! Then for dinner I have something like grilled chicken and a nice big salad with LC dressing.

Most importantly...drink your water and get some exercise. You'll be past your plateau in NO TIME!!

Monet: I'm just like you with the yarn. I went through a real cycle a few years ago where I would buy reams and reams of yarn and tons of pattern books and made scarves and mittens and hats and all sorts of cool stuff. I'm more of a wintertime crocheter, though...I can't stand the stuff on me in the summer. :^:

Jack: I really hate TV. I used to work with a woman that didn't own a TV and I remember at first thinking that she must be nuts...but then I thought of all the things I'd get done...the quiet reading and crocheting...actually having a conversation with someone in the room instead of us all looking at the boob tube...maybe playing a board game...it would really be freeing to get rid of the TV all together!! :D

Gator: I've been watching the TV with those horrible clips of Slidell, too. It really makes my own problems seem pretty miniscule in comparison. :^:

Okay...we went to the library today and found out my DS had the highest time spent in READING for the summer!! We read every night for a good half hour and we recorded it, handed it in and he won a nice book bag, some playing cards, a plastic bracelet (you know the ones everyone wears a half dozen of for cancer...) and a new book...and a free LARGE ice cream at the pizza shop...which we just went for and I had to help him from the drips. It's gonna be okay...I'll drink lots of water and move on. We also rented Finding Neverland...I'd heard good things about it and my DD loves everything Peter Pan...I also got her another Dear America book at the library since she's finished her summer reading list she got from school at Middle School orientation.

I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone, as well...I can't wait to hear their stories. We're expecting the remnants of Katrina tonight and tomorrow. They were just going around town making sure the sewer drains are working properly. The poor lady across the street has her basement flood out everytime a tropical system comes around and the fire department will be there pumping her out, I'm sure. I feel sorry for her...I swear her basement is made out of swiss cheese!!

Okay...so I'm off to make dinner. I think it'll involve chicken and the George Foreman with a salad...

Hi all .
Welcome Jamabob. Im another former atkineer. I stalled for about 8 months and decided to switch to SB. Great decision I made. Things are moving ( slow ) but moving.
Im gonna post the 3 minute cake recipe for anyone interested.. here goes:

3 minute choc cake
Use a microwavable bowl ( I just use a cereal bowl)

Ingredients
1/4 cup almond flour
1T coco powder
1/4 t baking powder
5 packets of splenda

1 T melted butter ( could cut this down if you prefer or use vege oil)
1 T water
1 egg ( I used just the white and worked just fine)
Optional- a small handfull of chopped walnuts

Blend dry ingrediants then add the butter, water , egg and nuts. Mix with spoon until well blended. Cover in plastic wrap putting small slit in the center to vent. Microwave for 1 minute. I eat it plain but you can frost with creamcheese frosting , sf whipped cream... use your imagination.
It almost tastes like a cake like brownie.

Well, I hit the gym again tonight and got in a great workout. Tomorrow night will be a night home to do some resistance training.
Been horrible watching the news and all the disaster from the storms. I feel so bad for all those people who were hit.
Hope everyone having a great week. Ill try and do replies tomorrow.

Well, here comes the remnants of Katrina (http://www.weatherunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?zoommode=pan&prevzoom=zoom&num=6&frame=0&delay=15&scale=1.000&noclutter=0&ID=TYX&type=N0R&showstorms=0&lat=44.12819290&lon=-76.33246613&label=Cape%20Vincent,%20NY&map.x=400&map.y=240&scale=1.000&centerx=400&centery=240&showlabels=1) ...I'm where the circle and crosshairs is... I took out Junior and gave him a bath so he doesn't stink up the house before he's shut in for two days of rain. They're telling us we're in for about six inches...which comparitively to the south isn't much...but an event for us, none the less...we'll be just outside of a tornado watchbox tomorrow, so it should be fun. :^: I'm still worried for the poor lady across the street with the leaky basement...

Cindy: Thanks for that recipe!! I can't wait to try it!!

Wow...the pictures of Biloxi and the surrounding areas are just devastating. I still can't imagine why people don't evacuate in these situations, but I think it has a lot to do with not being able to get back to your homes for days and days to find that it's fine and if this happens over and over, eventually you tend to ignore the warnings as overkill. It's all just so sad. I'll take the six inches were gonna get...I'll just hope the sump pump doesn't give out :(

Okay...off to get the kids to bed...this is our last week of late nights...then it's back to strict bed times!!

Dinner tonight turned out really good. I made Chicken Tikka Masala, with brown basmati rice, and a curried spinach and chana dal dish on the side. Chana Dal is similar to chickpeas, but much smaller. Its Glycemic Index is really really low, making it great for Sugarbusters. If you try it, just make sure you get true Chana Dal...some places try and pass off yellow split peas as Chana Dal. The Laxami brand is good.... I probably ate too much, but gosh it was good!

Tom got up on the roof and cleaned the gutters tonight. I teased him that he was weeding them...they were really bad! Seriously, there were six inch tall pine trees growing in them! Last night, the roof leaked, probably from the gutters being clogged. So, now we are set for more rain. Thankfully, the forecast is light on rain, or the automatic pool vacuum would be running around the backyard! I think there is about one to two inches left before the pool overflows.

Tomorrow I plan to go observe at the school, but I should have time to get on here before I have to leave. Sweet dreams!

BOB: Thanks for posting that link. It sounds like that area is not too bad. I am guessing the worst thing in NO is the flooding due to the levy breaks. I hope Missy checks in soon....and Laurie...

Jam--Many of us post what we have eaten for the day, in an effort to stay accountable. We sometimes will eat something that is not totally SB "legal", but will post it anyway. I normally have Nabisco Shredded Wheat 'N Bran for breakfast and it has NO sugar. I usually have fresh fruit on top and skimmed milk. Then a salad or a sandwich, made with one or 2 pieces of stone ground whole wheat bread (Pepperidge Farm 100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat is legal, and I often slice one slice of bread in two crosswise, so I have two very thin slices.) I'll often have a sandwich of egg salad, melted cheese, meat with some veggie--spinach or broccoli or tomato and melted cheese on an open face sandwich, etc. Dinner is normally 3 or 4 oz. of a meat, and one or 2 veggies. Sometimes I'll have a piece of fresh fruit for an afternoon snack. Those 6-7 hours between lunch and dinner are long and I normally get hungry about 4 pm. Anyway, check out the menus that people post and maybe that will give you some ideas.

Tech--Our family lived without TV for 10 years, when our kids were about 6 to about age 16. It was one of the best things we ever did as a family. It seems unbelievable that a family could actually live w/o TV, but we learned how to have fun in other ways: playing games, riding bikes, taking walks, reading together, going on adventures to the library and other places. Both my kids love to read now and that is something that may have suffered if we had let the TV rule in our house. We had one SMALL (9") tv that we kept on a high shelf in a closet, and we would only get it down for something really important, like when Armstrong walked on the moon, (or for Gator games!!) It was a pain to get down and set up and hook up to the cable, so it stayed in the closet most of the time. We also put it right back up in the closet immediately after we finished watching the special show. We never left it sitting out. We ended up getting a new TV when our kids were teenagers and were free to go over to friends who had the boob tubes. So then my DH bought the biggest TV there was, along with a VCR, and all the kids came over here to watch movies and stuff over which we had more control.

Steps today: 10099.
Food today:
B. Shredded wheat 'n bran with 1/2 peach and sk. milk
L. Stir fried chicken (3 oz.) and veggies, stir fried in 1 T sesame oil. 1/2 cup peach conserve.
Snack--1/2 WW pita sandwich with cheddar, grated carrots melted together and sprouts added.
Dinner--2 oz. WW spaghetti with 1/2 cup homemade sauce and 1 T. grated cheese.
about 1200 cal. all together

I am just horrified when I see those pictures of the damage in La, Miss, and Ala. from Katrina. Those poor people. The damage in some areas reminds me of Kendell, south of Miami, when Andrew went through, and there was NOTHING left except for debris. This is worse, because there is just debris, plus floodwaters. And N.O. How terrible for that beautiful city. You can tell that I love N.O. It is a unique place. We had a trip planned for October, 5 days there. We obviously won't be going now. I cannot imagine what those people are gonna do. And the destruction there will be very costly to all of us, as it will affect not only gas prices, but other goods, as so much is shipped out of N.O. The difficult times ahead for the poor people there are just so hard to think about. I just want to cry for them. SEF and Laurie will be away for a good while, I'm afraid.

OK, here are two "Friday Funnies" to lighten things up, since I have been feeling really down about the Gulf Coast. I guess these are "Tuesday Ticklers."

"I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting my pantyhose on fire. That's why I walk now. And I have heard that the older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends." (Lame, I know.)

OK, gonna go. Have a great evening, everyone.

Good Morning...I am planning on going to the school this morning to observe. Then, I am supposed to go over and help at the church. They are moving the nursery rooms from a trailer into the building now that we own the building. The church we bought it from will use the trailer. I really would rather not go over there, but the director sounded desparate.

I will try and check back when I get home. I hope everyone has a good day today.

Hello all--I got a message from Monet, so thought I'd better get over here to say hello and let everyone know I'm ok.

We got much more wind and rain than I thought we would from the storm. I lost some large limbs in my yard--one narrowly missed my car. We had tornado warnings all afternoon Monday--some touching down around us, but not in my county thank goodness. Mobile is under water and Alabama is dealing with the effects of the third hurrucane to hit in a year (sound familiar Gator?).

Still, we are not nearly as bad off as Miss and LA. I have been thinking about and praying for our sisters in those two states. I'm sure it will be a while before electricity is restored. We have storm refugees in shelters in our area and it looks like we might be getting some more. A fried of mine has been dispatched to Miss as a Red Cross disaster relief volunteer for the next three weeks. He has his work cut out for him.

Other than that I'm just really busy. I've also got some computer issues that have kept me away, but am working on getting those resolved so I can be back on a regular basis!

Good morning Ladies.

I know it's not WIW, but I am happy to report that those 7 pounds are gone today. So weird.

I had a great day of exercise yesterday. In the morning I got my TM in for 17 minutes and my lower body workout in last night, about 35 minutes. Then DH wanted to go for a walk so we walked for 3 miles. My legs were worn out and I seriously thought about skipping the TM today, but didn't.

I hate the TV too, but I'm can't get away from watching all this on Katrina. I wish we would hear something from Laurie and Missy and JackieO.

BF; ww mini bagle w 1T pb, 1/2 grapefruit
lunch, leftover meatloaf, northern beans, peach
Dinner, steaks, salad, brussell sprouts, broccoli

CRYSTAL, GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER. THAT'S NO WAY TO LOSE WT BUT AT LEAST THERE IS SOME SILVER LINING TO BEING SICK.(sorry didn't realize my cap lock was on).

Chris, hope you don't get much effects of Katrina. We got some flooding but all is well here. A 10 year old girl got swept away. How sad.

Bob, thanks for the update. Sounds like maybe they didn't have much damage there, just power outage. I sure hope so.

Cindy, thanks for the recipe. Can you use ww flour instead of almond flour? Got job on your exercise.

Monet, have fun at school today. I think you are going to love this job.

Gator, I love NO too. We have been about 5 times. I would imagine that it will be 3-4 years before it is ready for tourists again. Which is a shame as they depend so much on tourist trade. I saw last night where many places we have been are gone. The Hard Rock Cafe is totally gone. It is so sad. Those poor people. What will they do for homes and jobs and money?

Susan so glad to hear you are ok and not much damage. Hope you can get back on here soon. We miss you.

Got to run. Be back later.

Okay...we've gotten three inches of rain in my rain gauge. Taking Junior out for his poopies has been interesting...he's sequestered to the kitchen for now till he dries off... :( At least I got him his bath yesterday so the wet dog smell is to a minimum ;) . The rain doesn't seem to be ending any time soon, but tomorrow is supposed to be 75 and sunny...can't have it much better than that!! :D

I'm about to watch Finding Neverland with the kids. The electric went out once for about 30 seconds during a particularly windy period, so I hope we get to keep the electric on! Mostly because my basement has some little puddles in it and the sump pump is working like a champ at keeping it from flooding...with no electric...BLEH!! I don't even want to think about it!! DH insists on storing stuff in there...as opposed to the second floor of the BARN we have...and stuff always gets ruined when the basement gets wet.

Hope to hear from our MS and LA girls SOON!! Poor Laurie...it seems like just her luck to find a great job and then have a monster hurricane plow through the night before her first day!! Wonder when she'll be able to start now?

Okay...off to the movies!!

Oh...and I was down to 161 this AM!! Yay!!

JACK: Holy Cow!! 7 pounds!! Are you feeling okay? That's wonderful!!

SUSAN: Good to hear from you...glad you are OKAY!! Check back soon!!

MONET: Have fun in art class!! That's great for you to transition yourself in like that...very nice for the kids...

GATOR: If I were the only adult in the house, I'd ditch the TV, too!!

Thanks for all your help everyone. You guys are great.
I have a few more questions:

Does anyone eat:
Malt-o-meal or Cream of Wheat
Wheat Thins
Low-carb Tortilla’s.
Dream Fields Pasta

Also, I am really confused on the bread. I went to the market and almost every one of them that says Whole Wheat or 7 grain has Sugar, High Fructose corn Syrup or even honey or molasses. Is it ok to eat it if the sugar is father down the list of ingredients or the sugar cont is under 3?

techwife

Jam: The small grocery store I go to in between my grocery shopping days doesn't have legal bread, either. Large grocery stores sometimes have a bakery section like where you can have cakes made, etc...and they will sometimes have bread baked there like sourdough, 7-grain, whole wheat, etc that are made with the right stuff.

As for your list, WW tortillas...with the right type of flour and other ingredients...are fine. I can't find them at my grocery store, so I have to go to a health food store to get them. I've never heard of Dream Fields Pasta...if the ingredients are good, then it's good. Wheat thins are a no...but Triscuits are great!! I'm having Triscuits for lunch with some chicken salad on them and grapes on the side!! Cream of Wheat...if I'm not mistaken...this is very, very, very bad. I think it's up there with mashed potatoes on the bad chart. Oatmeal is okay, though...just not the instant kind.

And most of all, don't despair about the rules...it's all complicated in the beginning, but in no time it becomes easy as you know the brands and foods you can get. You'll automatically buy your bread in the bakery unless you're lucky to find something in the bread aisle, and then you'll know just the brand to buy...You'll know just what to have on hand for snack...I like to have unsalted peanuts or walnuts on hand for a handful here or there...It'll all be easy soon...don't give up!!

JAM: One thing to remember is CORN is a no-no. As is corn starch and starch and most things that make things 'thick'. If you get my drift... Also, corn bread and corn meal and of course corn syrup. Also, corn things that are used for bread, such as corn bread and corn chips. Eat salsa on Triscuits...or melt cheese on triscuits with a little salsa... ;) Or something like that...

Wow...my windows are sparkling clean after Katrina power washed them  Just a bit of drizzle now, but it's pretty damp outside...my rain gauge says just over 3 inches. Not bad...I'll take it over a 20 ft storm surge!!

I'm still in shock of how fast humans turn to animals with all that looting and shooting in NO. I understand, people are desperate, but some people have really become ugly and adding so much misery to an already miserable, desperate situation.

Jam, re your question on what we eat:
No
No
No
No.
The only pasta I eat is whole wheat blend, which has some plain semolina in it, which makes it have good texture, but has the whole wheat properties of 100% WW pasta. The other stuff on your list is too refined, except for possibly the Tortillas, if they are whole wheat.
Do you have the SB book? It has a lot of very helpful information that will give you a good picture of what kind of things should be included in your daily menus.

I am back from school! I did indeed love it. The kids were good, the day went fast...and the potential is amazing. Next week, I plan to teach a lesson on line as the beginning of a series on the elements of art. I did not carry a lunch, because I had not planned to spend the day, but I did. The lady who caters their lunch gave me some apple slices. I just ate lunch...leftover Indian food from last night.

I need to plan what to fix for dinner, make Tom's smoothies, and lunch, and I hope I will have time to get back on later.

Hi Gator Gal,
How are you?

Thank you for your reply:

I read the new paper back editon a few times and go back to it over and over.
It is a little vague as opposed to the Atkins book, but I'm getting the hang of it.
Right now, I'm just getting use to spotting the items that are legal. Right now my main problem is reading the boxes and deciding either way on a product.

Good afternoon ya'll. We just found out a friend of ours is stranded 3 miles from the coast and hasn't had food or water for three days. I'm not sure how she got a text message out but she did. It's heart breaking to think of them and their two year old in this heat and not being able to reach out for help. I've heard the town they are in is a teeny tiny town. ---UPDATE...I didn't know if I should delete or update so I'll just share our good news. :) It took some doing but my sister found out that our friend is in a shelter now...praise God. Now her family can go and pick her up.

Jack-K..woo hoo...told you it would be right back off. :) A good kind of I told ya so...hehe

Monet...awesome on the your new school. I bet the kids will love you as much as you will love teaching them.

JAM...WELCOME! Sorry it has taken me so long to say howdy. Life has been a little crazy the last few days.

Susan...thanks for letting us know you are okay. ((hugzz))

Tech...junior reminds me of our bloodhound. She is about 90 to 100 pounds and just too much for me to handle. I walked her about a week or so ago and told hubby it was the LAST time. She pulled me right down the road. Then one of the kids brought out one of our other dogs and she ran straight to him and I couldn't stop. Very unpleasant for sure. I'm glad your pumps are working.

Toni...howdy! ((hugzz))

Gator...((hugzz))

Poncho...are you on vacation or something? If you pop in...hey you! :)

I guess I need to get my lazy bootie in gear.

Love and hugs,

Hey all! I'm guessing I will be hanging out at home more for at least the next few days. Everyone here in north Georgia is freaking out about gas supplies and running the pumps dry even though that is the worse thing that could happen. Our gas in Georgia is brought in by two major pipelines from Mississippi. They do not have power right now, so no gas can be pumped in. The governor made a statement today that if everyone would just use their normal amount and not rush out to fill up, a shortage could probably be avoided as the power will probably be back in a few days. So what does everyone do? They go to fill up and now stations are out of gas or charging 3-4 dollars a gallon! I am cutting out any nonessential trips and we do not have any major plans for Labor Day weekend even though it is dd birthday on Sunday. She has invited a couple of friends over for a slumber party and we are going to swim at grandma's, who lives down our road, so we can walk! I sure hope this is "fixed" shortly! :^:

THIN: I filled up yesterday...at $2.55 a gallon. Today, I noticed a line at the QT, and it was $2.79. I was glad I got it yesterday! I have not been out since about 3 this afternoon....but I know how the rumors are making people kind of crazy. Have you ever seen the Doraville gas tank area? There are blocks and blocks of huge five story storage tanks...each about as big around as a large building. I just can't believe those tanks will all run dry! I suppose its possible...

I can barely keep my eyes open.. Guess its time for bed! Night!

Crystle:  Hiya!! It's always nice to see your happy face!! Regarding Junior...since I've been using the chain choker collar on him, he's not quite as rambunctious (sp)... but the problem is today we saw THREE dogs not on a leash...THREE!! One we avoided completely, the other was just a little yippee dog, but the third was as big as Junior and came runnign right up. His tail was up and he was happy and probably just wanted to come say hi, but Junior was all over, bouncing around like Tigger!! Makes me soo mad!! There is a leash law in town and I guarantee if I were caught for one second with Junior off his leash, I'd get fined for sure, but some people I guess, are above the law or something...

Cindy: Nice to see you...did you get much from Katrina?

Thin: I'm with you...I have about a half tank of gas right now, but tomorrow is shopping day in Watertown and I'm going to fill up on my way home and see how long I can go without getting gas...No unnecessary travel for me!! We can walk to most everything we need in town anyway...groceries, library, post office, the river to swim...the up side to living in the village! :D

Monet: Can't remember if I touched base with you about your day at school...I'm glad you had a wonderful time. You'll have a blast at this new job...I'm so happy for you!!

Okay...the sun came out after dinner and things are drying up here. We got about 3 1/2 inches of rain and the lady across the street didnt have the fire department there pumping out her basement...I don't know what she did...but she fared will, at least! I always worry about her...she's a single mom, but her kids are older and are boys and when she manages to get them off the couch, they DO help her...but it's still gotta be tough owning a house without a man around with his handy dandy toolbox! :(

I'm so overwhelmed just looking at the news these last few days. I can't even believe the tragedies...and the violence...which is understood, but sucks at the same time. The heat and the shear panic of not knowing what the heck to do has to bring out the worst in absolutely everyone.

Okay...off to enjoy my orange tea and thank the good Lord for my blessings and that I only have extreme cold to deal with...

Love yas...Kris

I'm with you about counting our blessings. We were at MIL house yesterday watching the news. Monet: I remember doing a few things like that with my brother when I was young...he's 4 years older than me and when I was about 13, he was just graduating HS and got his first car and would drag me to places with him...but he got married when he was barely 21 and then I was replaced by his wife :( But it was fun while it lasted.

:balloons: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FILLISE!! :balloons:

What a beautiful day it is today...only 64 outside and there are big puffy clouds around bright blue skies. I love this weather...they type you just need a light sweater for. Refreshing and beautiful. It's just one of the blessings I've counted today. :) I'm off to DD's middle school to help her find her homeroom. She had orientation in June, but it was all so overwhelming that she wouldn't have a clue where to find it on Day 1 on Tuesday. I also want to find out about bus information and if we can get her locker set up with locker shelves. Take away some of the first day jitters if I can. I remember going into Middle School and High School the first day and I rememeber thinking I was literally going to puke! :p Truly terrifying for an 11 year old. So, we're doing that and then picking up Gramma to go grocery shopping and to take the last of DD's school supplies off layaway. $60 worth of school supplies...it was actually more because we bought some things at Staples in Vermont...so more like $80 if you add everything up from the new lunchbox (I just can't figure out why she won't use her pink plastic one with Tweety Bird we got when she went to Kindergarden!! She'll probably use it when she's in high school...you know how they all revert back after they grow up a bit...) to the 30-ring binders, etc, etc... I felt more like I was buying office supplies instead of school supplies...no more crayons  ...but she had to have a fancy schmancy backpack...but with NO pink!! No Harry Potter...no Barbie or Lisa Frank...just basic black and boring. My baby girl is growing up... I guess they all do eventually, don't they...

Okay...gotta run...talk to yous guys later on!!

Good morning Ladies,

It is a beautiful day here also. High 60's and the sun will shine later. I almost feel bad about having a nice day with all those poor people down south.

Had to change my dinner menu as I forgot to lay out the steaks before I left yesterday. So we had Chinese stir fry (which have attempted to have all week and last) but it was horrible. My rice was so mushy. My SIL thought it was mashed potatoes, he got really excited. So I ate just the veggies and a small piece of sf angel food cake. (which was a dry a cardboard). When we got home at 10:00 I was starving so I had a very small chocolate sundae (SF ice cream, sf syrup and SF whipped cream). I try never to eat after dinner. The scale was down this morning so it didn't hurt eating that late.

I didn't sleep well last night and woke up about 10 minutes too late to get on the TM so I will have to squeeze that or a walk in tonight. I did get my workout in last night before we left.

My boss (who is 82 and his wife passed away a year ago) needs a ride to Frankfort tonight. He wanted me to get him a driver from a limo company but that is so expensive. We aren't doing anything tonight so I offered (with DH) to ride him up there. He has a way home so it will only be about an hour drive. He will pay for my gas and DH & I will stop somewhere on the way home and eat dinner.

bf: snack bar
snack: orange
lunch: salad with red cabbage, cheese, grilled chicken, Gator's dressing, peach
Dinner: probably a salad.

Tech, our dog won't go out in the rain either. Our sump pump failed to kick on once right after we finished the basement. Needless to say, everything was ruined. What a mess. Hope your power stays on.

Monet, I knew you would love the art class. So did they hire you?

Jam, starting out it takes a lot of reading. You will be spending much more time in the grocery reading all the labels. I still do. Just watch for the 3 grams of sugar and the word enriched, unbleached. They are no-no's. Good luck.

County, I'm so glad your friend is ok. I can't imagine some of these people sitting on roofs for 2 days in that heat with no food or water. It is so sad.

Cindy, have a great day.

Thin, I had heard gas was up to $5.00 in Ga. Glad it's not where you are. people are just crazy and all this panic just makes the price go up. It is $3.09 and $3.19 here. Ridiculous. I agree we shouldn't be griping about the weather or gas prices with all the southerners have to deal with. But we still will.

Susan, have a great day on Saturday. Hope you are not too busy to enjoy it. :hat: :balloons: :hb::gift:

Got to run, we have another bid today so I probably won't get lunch. I think I will workout in the conference room after it goes in.

Hope to check back later.

Hi everyone! I just got back from the Office Max where Laura and I were looking at planner inserts. I inherited a Franklin Covey one from our ex boarder...but I may look into replacing it, as its kind of worn. I will use it for lesson plans and to try and get organized for my ministry year. It has pages for menu planning...so I am going to try and use them too, and see if I can save some $$ on my grocery bill by being more organized.

JACK: I think this headmistress is very careful about hiring teachers. She called my references right after I left, and I am assuming they all gave a good report. She will not commit herself until after she sees what I do next Wednesday with the kids. I think that is smart of her, and I am really not worried. The art teacher I am replacing is precious and very nice, but definitely not an art teacher! The projects the kids are working on are not anything like what I will be doing with them. I will start in on elements of design, and use famous art works as examples....so the kids get art instruction, appreciation and history all rolled into one. I am getting excited about ideas, but I am trying to keep my excitment in check until I see the contract! ;)

THIN: I heard that there is an anti-price goughing measure that went into effect at midnight. My daughter said she drove by a QT at 8pm, and the gas was over $4 a gallon, then drove by the same QT at 2am on her way home, and the gas was $2.65! She filled up then, and felt like she had done well! Today, the Shell a few blocks from our house was $3.19. Its always expensive though.... I agree about not griping about gas prices. We have food, potable water, and a dry place to sleep at night, with a roof over us that belongs to us. We are blessed.

TECH: I hope your daughter doesn't whig out with the new school. :) Sounds like you are helping her to be very prepared... I remember when my kids were going from elementary to middle school...well, when Laura was. The other two were either homeschooled, or in a small private school at that point and it was hardly a transition at all! The big one was from middle to high school. They did NOT want me to 'help' them either...that was SO uncool! My high school matched up freshman girls with junior and senior girls as matchmates, who helped you find your classes, buy your books, etc. Then a few weeks into the school year, they had the Matchmate Munch, which was a luncheon that the senior or junior took her freshman to. It was a lot of fun! I still remember the girl who was my matchmate...I wonder what happened to her!? I had a freshman matchmate both my junior and senior years. It was fun, and those two girls asked me for help all year, so I felt so good about it.. you know? I wish they would do that here. It would be such a nice program....

I think I will go rustle up some lunch, and start planning dinner. A friend of ours is coming over for dinner, so I need to think about what I am fixing! :)

Monet- My kids are in a new middle school that just opened in fall 04. They have eighth grade "peer helpers" that help out new sixth and seventh graders. I guess it's close to the program you remember.
I paid 2.89 per gallon this morning, but there was no line, I drove straight up to the pump. I am so glad we do not have out of town plans for Labor Day, just a quiet weekend at home. We are planning to go to Panama City Beach Sept. 17-23, barring any hurricanes. Dh seems to be a little leary of water pollution from the mess in New Orleans and Mississippi, but I guess we will just keep up with the news for any issues with that? Anybody have any insight to this sort of thing?

Lunch was leftover sole filet, with broccoli.

THIN: It seems to me that the salt in the water would be an antiseptic agent. You can always check with tourist bureaus and see what they say about traveling into that area. I heard Pensacola got whalloped - just not as bad as further west did...and its not that far from Panama City. I think with all the stuff in the gulf area, I would be heading up to Lake Winfield Scott and camping for a few days!

GOOD FRIDAY EVENING TO ALL MY BUDDYS!!!

I heard from SEF and I'll share part of the email with y'all

We got out in time with a few belongings. Made it to Lori's parents in Lakeland, FL. Kevin has stocked up the car and is heading back to get to work (his job) and to check out our home. He is with Homeland Security.

Slidell one of the hardest hit after New Orleans, I think. I will be staying here indefinitely until cleanup is complete. Kori and Ash will do back sooner when Kevin thinks it's OK. Power will be off 8-12 weeks.

Will try to keep in touch

sef

I'm going to try to call MISSY tonight. I so pray that I get her. I need to know that she's alright.

I'll check back later....

OH...I'm starting my movie previews back again. These are my pics for the weekend:

CRYSTAL .....BILLY BOB THORNTON

MONSTER IN LAW .....JANE FONDA

SAHARA....MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY

As always, I'll let y'all know what I think of them.

Oh...talking about gas...The BP where I usually get gas was $2.91 yesterday. When I left work today, because of traffic, I went a different way home. I knew I needed to fill up (had a 1/4 of a tank) and had planned to stop at the BP. Well...OLE BOB AIN'T AS STUPID AS SHE LOOKS....there is a PURE OIL station on the corner right down from where I work and I caught sight of their price...$2.87 and I whipped this HUGE TANK in there and got $30 worth. It went right to the FULL LINE but not over.
I'm set for a while..just won't be making any unnecessary running around trips...If it AIN"T in MY HOOD....I AIN'T GOING!!!

OH...and the BP STATION??? They are out of regular unleaded and the next one (middle price) was $3.17 a gallon!!! ;)

Here is a little FRIDAY FUNNY...I think we need a little "pick me up"!!

What to Do With Hotel Soap

The following letters are taken from an actual incident between a London hotel and one of it's guests. The Hotel ended up submitting the letters to the London Sunday Times!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Maid,
Please do not leave any more of those little bars of soap in my bathroom since I have brought my own bath-sized Dial. Please remove the six unopened little bars from the shelf under the medicine chest and another three in the shower soap dish. They are in my way.

Thank you,
S. Berman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Room 635,
I am not your regular maid. She will be back tomorrow, Thursday, from her day off. I took the 3 hotel soaps out of the shower soap dish as you requested. The 6 bars on your shelf I took out of your way and put on top of your Kleenex dispenser in case you should change your mind. This leaves only the 3 bars I left today which my instructions from the management is to leave 3 soaps daily. I hope this is satisfactory.

Kathy, Relief Maid

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Maid - I hope you are my regular maid.
Apparently Kathy did not tell you about my note to her concerning the little bars of soap. When I got back to my room this evening I found you had added 3 little Camays to the shelf under my medicine cabinet. I am going to be here in the hotel for two weeks and have brought my own bath-size Dial so I won't need those 6 little Camays which are on the shelf. They are in my way when shaving, brushing teeth, etc. Please remove them.

S. Berman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Berman,
My day off was last Wed. so the relief maid left 3 hotel soaps which we are instructed by the management. I took the 6 soaps which were in your way on the shelf and put them in the soap dish where your Dial was. I put the Dial in the medicine cabinet for your convenience. I didn't remove the 3 complimentary soaps which are always placed inside the medicine cabinet for all new check-ins and which you did not object to when you checked in last Monday. Please let me know if I can of further assistance.

Your regular maid,
Dotty

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Berman,
The assistant manager, Mr. Kensedder, informed me this morning that you called him last evening and said you were unhappy with your maid service. I have assigned a new girl to your room. I hope you will accept my apologies for any past inconvenience. If you have any future complaints please contact me so I can give it my personal attention. Call extension 1108 between 8AM and 5PM.Thank you.

Elaine Carmen
Housekeeper

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Miss Carmen,
It is impossible to contact you by phone since I leave the hotel for business at 7:45 AM and don't get back before 5:30 or 6PM. That's the reason I called Mr. Kensedder last night. You were already off duty. I only asked Mr. Kensedder if he could do anything about those little bars of soap. The new maid you assigned me must have thought I was a new check-in today, since she left another 3 bars of hotel soap in my medicine cabinet along with her regular delivery of 3 bars on the bath-room shelf. In just 5 days here I have accumulated 24 little bars of soap. Why are you doing this to me?

S. Berman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Berman,
Your maid, Kathy, has been instructed to stop delivering soap to your room and remove the extra soaps. If I can be of further assistance, please call extension 1108 between 8AM and 5PM.Thank you,

Elaine Carmen,
Housekeeper

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Kensedder,
My bath-size Dial is missing. Every bar of soap was taken from my room including my own bath-size Dial. I came in late last night and had to call the bellhop to bring me 4 little Cashmere Bouquets.

S. Berman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Berman,
I have informed our housekeeper, Elaine Carmen, of your soap problem. I cannot understand why there was no soap in your room since our maids are instructed to leave 3 bars of soap each time they service a room. The situation will be rectified immediately. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience.

Martin L. Kensedder
Assistant Manager

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mrs. Carmen,
Who the **** left 54 little bars of Camay in my room? I came in last night and found 54 little bars of soap. I don't want 54 little bars of Camay. I want my one damn bar of bath-size Dial. Do you realize I have 54 bars of soap in here. All I want is my bath size Dial. Please give me back my bath-size Dial.

S. Berman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Berman,
You complained of too much soap in your room so I had them removed. Then you complained to Mr. Kensedder that all your soap was missing so I personally returned them. The 24 Camays which had been taken and the 3 Camays you are supposed to receive daily. I don't know anything about the 4 Cashmere Bouquets. Obviously your maid, Kathy, did not know I had returned your soaps so she also brought 24 Camays plus the 3 daily Camays. I don't know where you got the idea this hotel issues bath-size Dial. I was able to locate some bath-size Ivory which I left in your room.

Elaine Carmen
Housekeeper

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mrs. Carmen,
Just a short note to bring you up-to-date on my latest soap inventory. As of today I possess:

On the shelf under medicine cabinet - 18 Camay in 4 stacks of 4 and 1 stack of 2.
On the Kleenex dispenser - 11 Camay in 2 stacks of 4 and 1 stack of 3.
On the bedroom dresser - 1 stack of 3 Cashmere Bouquet,
1 stack of 4 hotel-size Ivory, and 8 Camay in 2 stacks of 4.
Inside the medicine cabinet - 14 Camay in 3 stacks of 4 and 1 stack of 2.
In the shower soap dish - 6 Camay, very moist.
On the northeast corner of tub - 1 Cashmere Bouquet, slightly used.
On the northwest corner of tub - 6 Camays in 2 stacks of 3.
Please ask Kathy when she services my room to make sure the stacks are neatly piled and dusted. Also, please advise her that stacks of more than 4 have a tendency to tip. May I suggest that my bedroom window sill is not in use and will make an excellent spot for future soap deliveries. One more item, I have purchased another bar of bath-sized Dial which I am keeping in the hotel vault in order to avoid further misunderstandings.
S. Berman

I paid $3.25 per gallon today in Watertown for the regular unleaded. One station on the way had it for $3.59!! Holy Cows!! I put in $30 and got to the full line like Bob...full, but not all the way... What a nightmare. I can't wait to see what the effect this will have on the consumers of this country to pay for this. Yuck. LUCKILY...I don't work, so I can stay home and walk to everythign I need and if I want to go to Watertown, my DH has a company car that pays for the gas, so I'll use his vehicle. The thing that struck me was how FAST $30 of gas added up. I looked away and thought it was probably around 15-20 bucks and dern if it wasn't already to $25!! As of a couple weeks ago, it cost me about $40 to fill my tank, this time it cost me $30 to fill the tank when it was already half full!!

Anyhow...I got DD to her school today and SHE nearly 'squeeed' with glee and said she can't WAIT to start school. I think it had a lot to do with when we first walked in, the school is nearly brand new and it looked JUST like the school in the first Nancy Drew Mystery CD ROM game. We both looked at each other and said, 'It's sooo Nancy Drew....' The same thing happened when we got to our campsite with the Girl Scouts and the park looked just like the scenery on Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake. Anyway...we saw her homeroom, her teacher is the Science Teacher, and he already has all their agenda's out on desks and has their names on folders and of the 14 kids in her grade at the elementary school, 6 are in her class!! They told her that she'd be lucky to have 2 kids she new. So, she's pretty pumped about that....that and the fact that the bathroom is RIGHT outside the door of her homeroom. And she thought the school also lookedlike the set of That's So Raven. We figured out a way for her to hang her Jesse McCartney and Carrie Underwood pictures AND her magnetic message board so her girlfriends can leave her messages when she's not at her locker. Cute...I wish I could go to Middle School!! ;) So...she's all set and really looking forward to Tuesday.

I just spoke to my cousin-in-law in Los Angeles, who was in Texas, on his way to Louisiana...he works for FEMA. I worry about him in NO with all the lawlessness there. Especially, it seems, to the people there to help. Frustrating beyond belief...but I guess people are in a panic state and don't know what else to do. Every moment I spend in my comfy dry house, I feel a little pang of guilt that these poor people are living in such utter misery.

Okay...gotta get the chitlins in bed. We're working on getting them in earlier so we can handle the SIX AM wake up time next week!! :coffee: I'm not looking forward to that in the LEAST!!

OH!!! I made that quickie pizza listed in the recipes. I didn't really have the patience to make dough and watch it rise. So I bought some Soy Protien pitas that I did my darnded to try and find something illegal on them...2g sugar I think because the second to last ingredient is HFCS. So, I bought them, brushed on a little olive oil, some sauce, cheese and ronis and...IT WAS GREAT!! DD and I had one each for dinner with a salad. She even ate it!! BUT, I shop with my mom during the summer and DD goes off with my mom while I shop with my DS and she conned her into a small bag of jelly beans  and a pitch black mountain dew...30 grams of sugar!! So, I told her to eat it all at once to get it overwith. I was a little ticked that she manipulated gramma that way...gramma didn't know DD is on a cut-out-the-sugar diet. Darn kids.

Okay...off to get them in bed now...

BOB, thanks for sharing SEF's email with me. Glad to get news of her. I tried calling Missy several times over the past few days but have not reached her.

Has anyone had news of Laurie in Merdian, MS????

I got a call this afternoon from Sabrina. Most of you SB Gals have have been on the board longer would remember her as Tranquil from Jacksonville, FL. She said she had been trying to call but couldn't get through. It was good to hear from her.

I went to the doctor yesterday & he was pleased with my progress in therapy but I've been having some really bad muscle spasms in my upper arm & sometimes it catches & won't let go. Today was really bad during & after therapy. He ordered some muscle relaxers & when I went to fill them the duggist said it would be $173 for 30 day supply. I almost fainted. lol She did call the office & got him to change it to something a little cheaper so hopefully that will help. Days like today I almost wish I had tolerated the pain & not had the surgery.

Jack-k, I've been thinking allot about you these past few days. I even talked to a friend about you a few days ago. She was diagnosed with breast CA in March, has had surgery, finished her Chemo & is now doing Radiation. She's gained 35 lbs & some days have a really hard time of it. Now she's so short of breath with fast heart rate & palpitations. She was to see a Cardiologist today. They did a CT but everything looked ok. She's telling me that it may be anxiety because she feels more anxious these days. Anyway, seeing her go through this has made me think of you allot. Hope things are better with you. :)

Well got to go. By the way, I am no longer gaining. The scale seems to be holding & even showing a 1 lb loss lately. I am trying to eat better, just still not OP but not giving up.

Sorry I've been MIA. I'm worn out.

My husband went out of town on monday and I decided to suprise him by redoing our bedroom. I went from mustard yellow walls with red tones and Eastern Indian type deco to Pale blue walls, mocha colored bedding with Turquois and Chocolate brown accents throughout the room. I moved my 'Arbonne Office' out of our bedroom to the living area. It's so much bigger and brighter. I still have alot to do!

The nutritionist gave me a supplement to help with the sugar cravings yesterday. She also gave me 'permission' to buy 2 dark chocolate bars (52% cocoa or more, but I love the super dark and it's better for me) to eat every week. I feel like I will do better if I'm not telling myself that I'm messing up, so I may as well go deeper. You know what I mean?

Here is my Menu for today.

Breakfast- Just Go Vanilla Latte
1 cup Honeydew
Lunch- ChickfilA Chargrili sandwich
5 French Fries
Caffein free Diet Coke
Snack- Just GO vanilla Latte

Dinner- 2 Egg Omlette w/
1 c spinach
1/2 c fresh mushrooms
2 Tbl. Goat chese
More Honeydew

Late Night Screw Up- Taco Supreme (taco Bell)

Talitha...as I say to everyone (including myself), just brush off from the Taco Supreme (sounds delish...I don't blame you there!!) and move on from here. Your new bedroom sounds straight out of Trading Spaces!! I want to do a number on my living room. I have denim colored furniture with beige piping, so I painted the room the color of the piping and used a parchment color for trim. I'd LOVE to paint it a nice soft red and keep the same trim. I think it would look cool with the blue furniture. Then I was thinking a nice butter yellow might be nice. We'll see. I copied a picture out of Country Curtains and made my own. They wanted $60 for a little...are they valances? The things that just go along the top of your curtain?...anyhow...I went to Walmart, found the toile material I wanted for $2 a yard and mine cost all of $4 a window!! I'm sure theirs were more professional looking than mine, but mine cost 4 BUCKS! ;) I made similar ones in my dining room in paprika...I'll try and attach a picture. I'm rather proud as this was one of the first things I've ever sewn...ever!! It also shows an afghan I crocheted while watching ths super bowl the year the Raiders were in it last...it's not my best or favorite, it was just a quickie. Oh...and the lace curtains were on the windows when we bought them, but they were hanging from top to bottom and looked a little like they belonged in a haunted house...so I cut them in half and hemmed the bottom...they were free. :D

Melf: What are you going to therapy for?

BOB: Did you like Sahara? DH got it for me for my Matthew McConaughey collection...

Okay...had a WW English Muffin for BF with SF peanut butter on top. Coffee with splenda and half n half. The rest of the day is up in the air. I'm going to do a quick once-over on the house and cut down my sunflowers...or some of them, anyway. They got blown down in the wind and rain the other day and now I can't find my tomatoes. I thought they might make a nice arrangement on my dining room table...although now they won't make nice bird food for the fall...I like watching the birds help themselves to the sunflower seeds... I'm also going to go around and clean the weeds out of my impatience. I haven't done so in weeks and they're getting a little crazy and outta hand.

Monet: I had to laugh when you said Tom was cleaning the pine trees out of the gutters. We have 4 in high maple trees growing in ours. They're kinda cute...till you get hit in the head with a big splat of water!

Will be back later!!

Breakfast was a strawberry, water and protein smoothie. I also had a cup of french press coffee with half and half and a little agave.

I am supposed to go to the church office this morning to do my volunteer stint. Talitha and I were going to meet, but the $4 gas prices have us both leery of the drive. Instead, I will just come home and chill around here. I have a lot to do, and I am supposed to fix dinner for a family tonight where the wife/mother has cancer.

Sorry I am so dull this morning... Maybe I will wake up enough to be interesting by this afternoon!

I wasn't on the board yesterday, so I missed saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY FILLISE :balloons: one day late. Hope you had a great day!!!
We miss seeing you on the board and hope you'll come back.

Gals who are doing your rooms over--Talitha--the bedroom sounds beautiful, and I know you'll love such a dramatic change. Tech, the pix. of the curtains is nice and the window really looks very attractive. You gals rock.

Not much news here. I am hooked by the gripping scenes of the aftermath of Katrina. We were so hot here last year without electricity for a week and a half. But we had water, and we were at home. I can hardly imagine having to live in such difficult conditions, as those poor people in N.O. are having to do. I heard one reporter say that the snipers are members of a gang, a long standing gang that has roamed in N.O for years. There was an article in the USA Today newspaper yesterday about scientists finding that humans have the same genetic codes as chimpanzees. If you take that to its logical extention, and look at humans as being nothing more than more highly evolved chimps who somehow progressed out of some primordial ooze, then no one should be surprised at any looting. If we have no soul, and there is nothing that makes man unique from animals, if we are nothing more than "lucky mud", then we have no hope and people are going to do whatever it takes to get whatever they want, because this is all there is. I happen to believe that I was uniquely designed by a Creator who gives me intrinsic dignity, and it makes me sad to see part of the creation living beneath themselves. But, people who don't see their uniqueness and who have no hope will certainly act in some of the ways we have been seeing and hearing about. Unfortunately, the others who are also suffering from the storm now also have to endure more because of the actions of those who are running wild.

I didn't get much walking in yesterday, but did eat really well.
Oatmeal for BF, 1/2 subway sandwich (chicken breast) w/o mayo for lunch, fruit for snack, and pork tenderloin, fresh squash and fresh green beans for dinner. About 1200 calories.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'll be gone until Sunday night, as we are leaving for Gainesville this afternoon.

Good morning Ladies.

I'm sure glad Friday is here. I think I say that every Friday. I think I need to work 4 days and get paid for 5. Think they will go for it?

Our drive to Frankfort was nice. We stopped and had dinner on the way back at Frisch's. I had the fish dinner with green beans and salad. Only ate the salad and fish. I was soo full. When we got home we walked about 3 1/2 miles. I got my wts in during my lunch hour.

Didn't sleep well again last night. I think it was 3:00 before I fell asleep and DH left 1/2 hour earlier today so I didn't get my TM in. Will have to make it up tomorrow. Around 10:30last night my stomach starting hurting and it is still upset today. I had a piece of toast for breakfast and some tea.
Lunch: egg salad on 1 pc (45 cal) bread and a peach or if I'm not feeling better I make get some tomato soup.
Dinner: ???

We have a big weekend planned. A fram party or pool party on Saturday, the game party on Sunday and probably the pool again on Monday. So I will have to be very careful with my food and drinks. I do not want to see a gain on MMM.

Where has Pancho been?

Monet, I'm sure once they see how much you have to offer, they will gobble you up. Probably won't get paid near wha you are worth.

Bob, thanks for the update on Sef. It is so sad that their home is probably destroyed. Leaving it would be so hard to do, but you can replace a home and not your life. I wish we would hear from Missy too. and Ashley.

Tech, we get our gas at Kroger (sorry BOB) since you get 10 cents off for every $100 you spend at the grocery and at one it was $3.09 and the other $3.19. So late last night we went to the one that was $3.09 for DH to get gas (he was on empty) and they had signs up saying they didn't have any regular or next grade gas. I bet they did and were just waiting to raise the price to match the other Kroger. We did pay $2.99 in Frankfort last night. So glad you DD is excited about school. That's makes it so much easier. Don't be too hard on here for cheating, theyhave to have a treat sometimes, maybe next time not quite so much sugar. At least the jelly beans are low fat. What a little homemaker you are.

Melf, I am so sorry you are having such problems with your arm and shoulder. Surely it will get better with more PT. The price of medicine is about as bad as gas. Totally uncalled for. Thanks for thinking of me. If your friend would like to vent, have her email me. Send me a PM and I will give you my addy. Take care. Thanks for the update on Tranquil.

Talitha, next time you have to "screw-up" at Taco Bell, get the taco salad and don't eat the shell. It is all legal. Glad you got something to help with the cravings. 70% chocolate has always been legal.

Gator, Spurrier got the "W" last night. That viser was off and on alot during the 4th qtr. Have a great time tailgating and be good. Hope you all get the "W". We have our rival game with Louisville on Suday. Sadly I'm afraid it will be a blow-out.

Have a great day. I'll be back later.

I was checking out a map of Mississippi and I see Meridian where Laurie lives is above and to the east of Jackson. So I am hoping she was far enough in-land not to have severe damage and may just be without power. At least I am praying for that. She was so excited about starting her new job,she probably didn't get to. I'm going to hate not being able to check the board this weekend to see if anyone has reported in.

Whomever told me about the Triscuts and salsa is fast becoming number 1 on my favorite persons list. Also, PB and J worked great too.

Does anyone know why we can't eat Cream of Wheat or Wheat Thins?

Thanks,

Jam:  That would be me with the triscuits/salsa idea!! Just don't overdo...they ARE a starchy carb and you should keep them to under, say, 12 crackers a day. Glad you like them!! And as for the Cream of Wheat, I'm going to have to check the book. I looked at the ingredients on the box in my cupboard and I really can't tell you from that why not. All's I know is that it raises red flags for me, but that may be a leftover rule from Atkins as in ALL grains are taboo there. You're lucky you had such success with atkins...all's I got was severe constipation from lack of fiber. :o Sugar Busters had proven to be a nice, moderate plan for me that makes a TON of sense to me and is a cinch to stick to since I like just about everything on the plan. I'll go check the book, though, and let you know what I come up with.

Jack: I was watching as the eye, or center of rotation at that point, went to the east of Jackson before exiting Mississippi and was thinking about Laurie. It had been downgraded to at least a CAT 1 by then, but I'm sure she got loads of wind but probably only has power/phone/cable outages to deal with. She's in my prayers, that's for sure!! DD is sleeping over at Gramma's tonight, so now Gramma is aware of her Way Of Eating ;) and why. My dad, being a diabetic, has loads of sugar free treats like ice cream and pudding and pop sicles, and she's havign a BL for dinner...which is a BLT...hold the T  . She likes those. This morning she had a WW bagel for breakfast with SF peanut butter and some decaf herbal tea and ate it all! And said it was good! Normally, she'd have Cocoa Puffs and then want more. She really knows how to pack it in...if we order pizza, she literally eats more than my husband!! One night I saw her eat SEVEN slices!! So, we're just trying to get her under control before she gets out of control.

Oooohhh!! I just heard ship horns!! I just love that and they don't do it much anymore as it's an old fashioned communication system to 'talk' to one another. Now they use their GPS's and radios and such and you just don't hear the horns much anymore unless its really foggy. I love THAT, too...it makes me feel cozy and hunkered in for some reason.

I just put some foils in my hair and once I put them in, I sat and watch FOX NEWS and ended up leaving them in a little longer than I'd planned...which means my streaks are a little lighter than I anticipated. :o BUt I don't mind...they fade a little after a couple days.

Okay...off to trim DD's hair...Bye, guys!!

JAM: Cream of wheat is NOT whole grain. It has the fiber removed. Wheat Thins are not made with 100% whole wheat either. These two items are both too high on the GI list to work on Sugarbusters. Another cracker to look for is Ak Mak. They are made with 100% whole wheat, and really tasty with cheese, or as a dipper. I use whole wheat pita bread, cut into wedges, front and back pulled apart and toasted on a cookie sheet in the oven, as a dipper too. It works wonderfully with hummus, tapenade, etc. Do remember though, not to eat too many of these wheat products. You want to keep focusing on lean protein and lots of vegetables, and some fruit. If you want to lose, you need to keep the starchs (bread, rice, etc.) at two or three a day at most. I lose best at one or two per day.

TechWife: Thnka for looking up the info for me. I totaly agree with you on the constipation part of Atkins. Sugarbusters is sure a lot easier to follow. I just strated on Monday and feel great already. It's nice to have some fruit for a chagne. I'm still going to stay as low carb as possible but I'm still going to take the added stach benifites for a spin and see what happens.

By the way, have you tried the whole wheat pasta from Olive Garden?

I found a news release for Thibadaux, LA where Missy Lives. Apparently power outages have been restored to 80%. Schools are back in session on Tuesday. They are housing evacuees at a local college.

So I'm thinking they didn't get much damage and just lost of power. So I pray. Maybe we will hear from Missy this weekend.

JACK: Thanks for that update! I think BOB has her phone number, and if schools are in session, then Missy is probably teaching. Now if we could just hear from Heartmom...and JackieO....

JAM: I am glad you are finding support here! We are glad you joined us! Here is another suggestion: chana dal, which is similar to chickpeas, only smaller and usually split, is really low on the GI list... I make it curried, with spinach, onions, tomatoes, or whatever strikes my fancy. Where are you located? You might have some good stores to check out if you are in the right area! :)

Happy Friday and a three day weekend at that !
Had a great week. Down 1/2 pound. Any down and Im happy. :)
Just sitting here relaxing tonight. I did get in my exercise a bit ago and that was day 6 for the week.
This is the first Friday since my dad passed away that I havnt spent the evening with my mom. I was just so tired today when I got home I just didnt want to go anywhere. We will be over there tomorrow to work in her yard and have dinner with her. I feel so bad her living alone now. But for now she wants to stay at her house and see how things go. Im thinking when winter hits she might realize how it is to be there all alone since she wont be able to go into the yard and work and she doesnt got out if theres ice. I guess Id feel better if my Mom was outgoing but shes a homebody and her whole life was taking care of my dad. But I do understand how it would hard to get rid of "your" home and "your" things to come live in someones elses home with "their" things.
Speaking of winter Im gonna kind of be sad when summer is over. This was probably one of the most active summers Ive had. Ive enjoyed mowing and gardening, bike riding and walking at the park, wearing shorts and no coat. I always before loved winter over summer. Maybe thats changed because I feel more confident to be out and about in summer clothes.. ?

Kris- We just got some rain from Katrina and some wind. We have a very rambunchious english setter and he would just about take my shoulder off trying to walk him. We got this leash thing called a no pull leash ( I think) and it works great! Its very thin but has some pads on these thin straps that go down the chest/front legs and gently tug there when they try to pull. I think it confuses him more than anything. And he doesnt know how to react so he stops pulling away from me and walks nicely. I hate when others dont have their dogs on leashes. My smaller dog is a russell/ begal mix and thinks she wants to beat up every dog she sees so I finally stopped walking her around the neighborhood because I was scared someones unleashed dog would come up to her and shed start a fight . Your curtains look great . You did a good job .

Talitha- What a wonderful thing to redo your bedroom. Sounds very nice.

Gator- I hear you on NO and looting and snipers . I dont understand it all. But I can imagine the stress people are under now. One woman said they hadnt eaten in 4 days . I just cant fathom. I am also feeling very grateful for the roof over my head and that my family is safe and sound.

Jack-k- Hey , I want to work 4 and get paid for 5! :dizzy: That would be a dream !

Well, I think Im gonna surf for a bit, then watch some tv and hit the hay early. Have a wonderful Friday night !

I have been looking for PANCHO all week. Where is she?? Nat?!?! Are you out there?

TONI is missing too.... and BOB.

HEART: I hope and pray you are ok...

FRUIT: You too!

Dinner tonight was chicken curry with brown basmati rice topped with cashews, spinach and chana dal, and some mango chutney. I feel stuffed! Still! And we ate three hours ago! I drank a diet 7up with dinner. Love that stuff.... I went to Harry's /Whole Foods today and got the stuff to make dinner. I was cooking for a family at church. They can't have wheat, soy or dairy, so it was a challenge to plan a menu. I highly recommend Patak brand sauces in jars if you can find them at any international markets. Each one I have used has been excellent. I am in an Indian food phase right now, and really enjoying learning about all the spices and foods.

Its about time for bed, so I wish you all sweet dreams!

Yea! Finally some help for the people in NO! I know some of them feel it's almost too little too late, but after all I've seen and read, surely this help is better than nothing! I can't even imagine babies with no diapers, food, or water. Loved ones dead with nowhere to put them. Ones that maybe have passed and no one even knows who they are. It's just so overwhelming, and I'm sitting here on my computer in my nice cool house!
I heard today that we will have two refugee children start to our school next week. They are from Mississippi and have moved here to be with family for a while. Our school superintendent says squeeze them in. They may not have any paperwork, birth certificates, shot records, etc. But let them come to school! There is not even anyone to contact about their former school records, because the schools are now under water! I just hope people will open their hearts to these people and help them any way we can!

We slept in a bit...just had espresso and are going to have eggs and bacon in a bit. The kids are gone to DragonCon for the weekend, so Tom and I are enjoying having the house to ourselves. We will probably go for a walk this morning too.

THIN: That is great that your Super is willing to bend rules to help those kids. I was whining about how long it took to get the national guard in, and my husband reminded me that the guard is made up of private citizens, who have to be called up and mobilized. This takes some time to assemble, and move in. I felt a bit better. I don't think the response time was fast enough, but I can understand more now why it took so long.

Hello all! The phone rang at 7:30 this morning. Mom and Dad wanted to be the first to wish me happy birthday! I told them they could have waited an hour or so and STILL been the first--LOL!

Actually my good friends here were the first and I appreciate all your good wishes!

It will be a busy day for me, I'm heading over to the church at 2 to collect $ for the victims of Katrina that have been evacuated to our area. Then tailgating begins at 5:00 and at 7:45 KICK_OFF!!!!!!!

WAR EAGLE!

I think we need to set some ground rules for the season.

BOB--DO NOT incite Gator to violence.

GATOR--Let's keep the insults about the felons at UT to a minimum.

Missy--Hon, I love you and and have kept you in my prayers this week, but you are STILL rooting for the WRONG tigers!

Jackie--Keep reminding the folks in Kentucky that BB season is only a few months away.

Monet--Keep the faith that the cocktail party will go your way this year. . .

Having said all that, we have no idea what AU is going to be like this year. It could be very good, it could be very bad. . . today will tell us a lot!

I hope everyone has a great day today!

Susan

Sorry I've been missing in action, LOL.... Just a busy week and I didn't take time to post. But read them everyday. I've also been glued to the t.v. wishing I would hear from my friend in Slidell but knowing thats not hardly possible. Did my grocery shopping yesterday. Monet they need to bottle you and sell you to ladies that druel over your wonderful cooking and such talent. I'm in deep envy. If I made a meal like you make for my DH he would marry me again. I did order a book today thats for baking breads with different whole grains. Of course using a bread machine. Can't wait to get it. And get to try some different things. I can't believe fall is just around the corner. Its been such a hot summer but I hate the thought of using the messy wood to heat with. And of course I'm always cold. Well if I don't get up and get busy I'll never do it.... Sorry I missed so much from not posting....

Tomorrow is our 29th wedding anniversary...haven't decided where to go for dinner yet, but I think we will wait and go tomorrow afternoon before church. Tom is sunning out on the deck. He feels puny, and is a tad crabby. I am staying out of his way and trying knitting patterns in a book I got from the library earlier today. :) I think I found what I want to do for my other sister's afghan...as soon as I finish the one I am working on, I can start it.

Its so nice and quiet with the two offspring gone to the conference downtown. The cats are even being sweet. The crazy one, Snidely, even let me hold him like a baby for 15 or 20 minutes this morning!

I am off to knit some more! BOB...keep me up on those DAWGS, K?

Happy Anniversary MONET !!!
I hope its a wonderful day! Mine is this month too but not as long of time as yours. Thats a great accomphishment !

We have had a beautiful weekend here in Indiana . Its been clear blue skies and in the high 70's. Today Im planning on pulling weeds and working in the yard and straighting the garage and/ or washing my car. Then off to moms to do her yard and taking dinner over to share with her.

Eating is going pretty well. I did really good yesterday ( Saturday is usually my free meal out but weve been trying to only go out 1-2 x a month lately) We ate dinner at my moms and had roasted chicken and brocilli salad and coleslaw. So I ate real well for my meals but cheated a tiny bit later in the eve. My mom made a zuchinni choc cake, Sf but made with some white flour I had a slice of that and later some LF tortilla chips with melted cheese and Jalapenos. I kept my serving small that I made but still. I also had a couple drinks of scotch whiskey and dite rite which I never hardly do . But Im back on track this morning.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

How 'bout them Dawgs???

Good morning! We slept late and have been just chilling this morning. We are trying to decide where to go for our anniversary dinner. We have myriad places to pick from and we are terrible about making decisions!

Breakfast was a smoothie made with water, froz. strawberries, and 1.5 scoops of protein. And of course, espresso with half and half...

Tom is going to go out and sun by the pool for a while. I think I will knit some. I am getting ideas for the next afghan, which makes me want to hurry and finish the one on the needles! :)

I will be back later for replies.

Fillise---LOL! :D Your football comments were sooo funny. The felons at UT are not an exclusive club; the Criminoles at Tallahassee may outnumber them, and then there is SC, where Visor Man has lost a bunch of his team to the police and jails. LOL

BOB--Yep, we won. Played the Cowboys of Wyoming, who were rated #25 by Sports Illustrated. 30 something to 14. Our defense looked awesome, but the offensive line was poor. I see the Vols barely squeeked by AUB. Hope we beat y'all in a couple of weeks. :D

PANCHO!! WHeeeeerrrrreeee are YOU?? Are you OK? We all are worried. I wanted to ask you how the spaghetti sauce turned out in your slow cooker.

Monet--Happy anniversary.

Cindy--congratulations on losing that 1/2 pound. We knew you could do it.

Eating was so-so for me yesterday. I'll tell you all more about it tomorrow.

WHEW!!!! WHAT A SATURDAY!!!! EVEN ZOOK WON!!!!

I TALKED TO MISSY LAST NIGHT!!!! They have electricity, but no internet. She said to tell all of y'all that your prayers worked and everyone on her end is just fine! They are still under Marshall Law, but at least no one was hurt or worse....I'll be talking to her again, so if there is anything you want me to tell her, just let me know!

Getting ready to watch JACKIE'S WILDCATS...from the looks of the stadium, we all could have flown in for the game and gotten a seat on the 50 yard line!!!

SUSAN.....SORRY YOUR BIRTHDAY GAME WASN'T THE WAY YOU WANTED IT TO BE!!!

GATOR...CONGRATS ON THE GAME....IT MUST HAVE BEEN HARD FOR YOUR GUYS TO TACKLE SOMEONE WHILE THEY WERE WEARING A SADDLE!!! "COWBOY UP" TAKES ON A WHOLE NEW MEANING!!

MONET....HOW BOUT THEM DAWGS!!!!!

Does ANYONE HAVE A PHONE NUMBER FOR LAURIE???? I heard this morning that there is no electricity from Jackson down to the gulf!

Disasters like this is why we should all have each other phone numbers!

I'll be back later....

Thank you everyone for the anniversary wishes! We went to Outback, but they did not open until 4, so we drove down the road a piece and stopped at Lone Star. We both got a 9 oz sirloin, with sweet potato, salad and bleu cheese dressing. We took off the croutons, ate half the taters, and had an order of grilled shrimp as well. When we got home, I had a Godiva liqueur with cream on ice, and a glass of port! I rarely drink, and right now I am beginning to buzz! We need to leave for church in a hour, so I hope I am sober by then!

BOB: If you talk to Deb, I bet she has a phone number for Laurie. I can't remember her last name, or I would try looking it up! Thanks so much for the update on Missy! Please tell her how happy I am to hear she is ok! If there is anything we can do for her to let us know.

I have only about 50 rows left to finish the afghan I am working on...each row is getting smaller as you decrease each row, so I may be able to finish it in the next day or two! :) Yay!

 I will be back later!

Oh, and I agree with BOB...I will be happy to keep a list of phone numbers for emergency reasons. If you want to be on the list, please send me a private message with your contact information.

Today is also my dd b'day! Wooohooo! 11 yrs old! I'm glad we have tomorrow off as I need some sleep to recover from last night's slumber party! :^: I guess I'm getting old! She now has birthday money burning a hole in her pocket so we will be heading out to shop sometime tomorrow, but not necessarily first thing in the morning! I told her I would take her anywhere locally, but I'm not going 40 miles away to the mall. I can't afford the gas for the trip! She wants to go to wal-mart and Micheals. (She wants yarn and art supplies, a girl after your own heart Monet!) I would like to go to goody's, as they have all summer stuff on clearance. Might as well stop and see if they have any good deals while I'm out! ;)

We got in from church a while ago. We went out to dinner afterwards. Tom and I ordered fajitas for two with chicken. We ate a few chips, but tried to keep out of them as much as possible. I probably ate more than I needed...and my MMM will most likely not be good. I have not been on the scale for a few days, so I have no idea what to expect.

We found out some friends of ours had their baby yesterday. Its funny...they are good friends with another friend of ours...a woman we have known since she was four, whose daughter was one yesterday! So now, I know four people who have a birthday on Sept. 3... Fillise, my son in law, and two friends daughters! How cool is that? Then the 4th is my anniversary and the 5th is my mother in law's birthday. Wow! And now Thin's daughter on the fourth! :)

THIN: Smart girl! Tell her I approve whole heartedly! Does she knit? There are TONS of free patterns online! And at the library! :) And how fun that her birthday and my anniversary are on the same day! Tell her Happy Birthday from me!

Monet- She got a knitting machine for her birthday. We're still trying to figure it out. You turn the crank and it knits for you. Supposedly you can make scarves, hats, etc. So far she's managed to make a scrunchie for her hair. Her birthdate is 9/4/94 so that's kind of cool. My son was born on my fourth wedding anniversary (March). Not a fun way to spend the day, but well worth it!

Morning everyone. Happy Labor day!
I really enjoyed not having to rush off to work this morning. Just going to putter around the house today and get some chores done. Am barbequing chicken later today for Dh and I and Ds. Dh has to work tonight so we are just staying home.
Im not weighing until later in the week, so no weigh in for today.

Monet- Outback is one of our Fav resturants ! I love their grilled chicken ceaser salad and the strip steak. The steakhouse salad is awesome too but I have to get it without the sugar/cinnamon pecan pieces.

Well Im off to clean , clean , clean. Have a great day.
