Its MMM and I hope it is a good one for all of you!

I hopped on the metal monster this morning, and was down 2.5 pounds.

I need to go help fix the expresso, so I will be back in a bit....

MMM and I are not on good terms. I ate like a pig this weekend. Ice cream sundae Sat night, and Brownie ala mode last night. I was up 3 lbs.

BUT... My friend has a membership to the YMCA, and I am going with her today as a guest. It's not cheap, but they have childcare. A huge plus. I am excited about it.

Gotta get ready. Be back later.

TALITHA: The Y is a great place! You can swim indoors, and they have all kinds of classes and such, PLUS there is stuff for the whole family! Maybe your parents would give you a membership for Christmas??? Hey, do you want to get together this week? I really would love to...please call me.

Happy MMM!

Well I'm much happier this MMM. The scale is down 9 lbs. (not a typo) since last MMM. Journaling and counting calories has really helped me.

Friday night we went to Happy Hour. My intent was 1 glass of wine which I sipped (something very hard for me., I drink everything quickly). Well someone bought me another one. So I drank it. We had a fish sandwich (1 Piece of rye bread as DH forgot to bring my bread from home). I don't know if it was the heat of what but it did not sit well with me. We wen to the Elks Club and I only drank water. So it was ok as I had planned to have one wine there.

Saturday at the pool I had only a bite of my DH & DD sandwiches. I was just not hungry. Dinner was on the run and not planned so I had leftover shells. We went to a party and I had 4 wines and only 1 bite of cheese/chip and 1 meatball. Sunday had 3 bites of a low carb bagel at Pannera and inside of a chicken breast for lunch. Dinner was steak, green beans, squash, zuchinni, and 1/2 sweet potatoe. That was the most I ate all weekend.

We were at the pool all weekend so I swam 10 laps each day and hung on the wall of the pool and worked my legs for a long time. Saturday, we got a 2 mile walk in during the 90 degree time of day.

So I made 7 days of exercise last week. Got up this morning and got the treadmill in too.

BF; 1/2 yogurt, 1/2 grapefruit and will probably have a Qsmart bar soon.
lunch 1/2 cup homemade chicken salad, pudding, peach.
dinner: meatball pitas.

Laurie, Congratulations on the job. I knew you would get it. Glad yourparents can watch the kids after school. At least you won't have to pay for childcare. Will they be able to watch them if they are sick or have a day off from school? I guess you won't be on here as much. We will miss you.

Nat, sorry to hear Lane's eye isn't responding. Hope the patch works. Will you share the recipe for the taco salad?

Cindy, sorting through pictures has to be a job. Bet yo don't throw many away. What a lovely walk down memorylane.

Gator, 1.5 in five days is great. Glad the rise in calories didn't hurt. I heard that on the Oprah show the thin sister was horribly mean to the fat sister. Holding up bikini underwear compared to her large underwear. I'll check out those scales.

Bob, still praying your survive the new boss. Let us know how you are doing. How is Kate doing this week? I hope better. Those UTI in older people really affect them.

Monet, you are turning into a knitting fool. on the 2.5 pounds. How much is that since you have beein following the Lepitin way?

Talitha, sorry the scale was up today. It will probably be down tomorrow. Have fun at the Y.

Hope the scale is good to everyone today. Be back later. Off to journal my food.

Waaaaa I gained 2 lbs. I was afraid it was not going to be good on the scale today. Just to much bread and not being as careful with my portions. I'm so disappointed and hope I can bring it back down this week. I may need to calorie count like you all are.

Jack-K- I am blown away by your loss. Congradulations, what a wonderful drop that is. I'll bet you did the happy dance all over. I've got to pay more attention to what you're eating. I am sooooo happy for you.

Monet- Congradulations to you. What a good job you've done this week. Yippee ki aaaa!

Talitha- Guess we're in the same boat girlfriend. Our MM Monday was not so hot. Next week we'll do better. Oh how lucky to go to the YMCA. I wish we had one around here. I would love to get in the pool and get some exercise.

Think I'll have a smoothie this morning. L-Salad with Shrimp D- will be grilled meat and a salad.

Jackie--that's so great on the weight loss and I'm so happy for you. In accordance with the SB authors' comments on portion size (rather than his actually mentioning the word "calorie"), I do believe that watching that "energy intake" makes a big difference. I had resisted keeping a food journal and, ahem, counting calories, for 10 years. When I finally faced up to the fact that that was what worked for me to keep my portions under control, I finally started showing some success on the MM.

As for that, I had a loss of 2 whole pounds this week, and I am very happy about that. Amazed, actually, since we went out to an Italian restaurant on Saturday night and I was totally off plan, not even sticking to staying anywhere near my eating goal for the day: 2 pieces of hot crussty and chewey sour dough bread, with butter, two pieces of bruschetta and a sweet frozen alcoholic drink! But I hopped back on the SB plan yesterday and got my walking in, and am happy today. If my weight is the same next MMM, I will be happy because we are eating out at some very nice restaurants for 3 meals this week, plus out for several other meals also. We probably will get in our exercise, but the food will not be as "controlled" as normal.

We went to a local theater to see the movie "March of the Penguins" last night. It is showing at only one theater here, a "dinner" theater where you sit at little tables and order drinks, snacks and desserts. My DH had a glass of wine and wanted a chocolate dessert, but we went to the late show and they only had choc. chip cookies left. So he ordered a choc chip cookie and they brought him a plate with TWO cookies, each about the size of a CD disk, and warm-m-m-m. I ordered a diet coke and only took a couple of sips because I was so worried that they might have goofed and brought a non-diet drink instead (I can't tell the difference) and REALLY wanted to show a loss this morning. I had about 1 tsp taste of one of his warm-m-m-m cookies :) and was really happy I didn't eat more when I got on the scale this morning. Talitha's signature "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" is so true! BTW, the movie was good, really great photography, and up to the standards of most National Geographic films, which this was. I could see this being shown on TV as a special on Hallmark channel.

Monet--Thanks for your great faithfulness in starting the board and being our moderator every week. We all really appreciate that, and your faithfulness has a positive impact on all our lives. Congratulations on the 2.5 pound loss.

Talitha, If you don't get over to Monet's this week, and are booked up until the end of September, I'm hoping Monet will be able to meet up with me on Sept. 28, and maybe you can too. I'm getting in on the 27th and won't be leaving until the 29th.

Well, have to get my shower and make the bed. Have a great day, everyone.

PS. BOB, hope your week turns out surprisingly wonderful, and that you will be happy as a clam on Friday. :) :)

I can't believe it! I forgot to weigh this morning! :o I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my husband is flying to Orlando today and will not be home till late Thursday night! I really don't mind the occasional business trip, the kids and I can have dinners that Dad is not so crazy about! ;)
This has been a very sad weekend for us. One of Rachel's former dance teacher lost her baby that was just over one month old. He got sick with meningitis just 36 hrs after his homecoming and spent the rest of his short life in intensive care at Scottish Rite in Atlanta. He has catastrophic severe brain damage from the swelling and had started having seizures. I know in a wierd way it was a blessing for him to pass. No one knew how much of a life he would have with the brain damage, but we were all praying for a miracle. Maybe he got one. We went to the funeral home and Rachel made the comment that he looked like a baby doll lying there. It was AWFUL! I really feel for this Mom and Dad, he was their first child.
Well, I better go get some work done! Have a great week! :)

GOOD MONDAY AFTERNOON TO ALL MY BUDDYS!!!

I had to come home at 10:30a.m. Kate couldn't get the medicine straight.
The CIPRO has to be taken either two hrs before or after other medicine.
She also is taking another antibiotic twice a day and I need to get her on a schedule for that. I stopped at the drug store to fill the meds and journeyed
down to the health food store to pick up some pure cranberry juice. I've mixed it up and will start pouring it down her throat to get those kidneys flushed out.

I did get some work done before having to leave. I'll just have to do double tomorrow.

I'll get caught up on posts at some point today....

BOB: I hope Kate feels better soon. Give her a gentle hug from me.

Off to deposit some $$ in my bank account!

Not too good of a weigh in this morning. Gained almost all of the last two weeks weight back. How fun to blow two weeks in one weekend. Oh well back on track today.

Congratulations to this weeks losers. Hang in there those that put some back on.

I don't have much time this afternoon but wanted to jump on here and say howdy. I hope everyone has a SUPER week.

Love,

Good afternoon ladies.

Chewing away on some gum and drinking lots of water. Keeps me from snacking. I'm not hungry, just bored and wanting to eat. Only 1/2 hour to go until I get home and get some dinner started and my wt training in.

The girls have VB tonight so we have to eat quickly. I am going to add a salad to my meatball pita so give me some more veggies. Hope these turn out good, I think it was Julie who suggested them.

Toni, counting cals has made me really think about eating something. Before, I would go get a handful of nuts and not think about them. Now I know how many extra calories I'm putting in my mouth. Sorry you were disappointed today with the scale.

Gator, I think the plate thing was their way of saying you can't just eat and eat. I always think about that when I get my dinner plate. I use a breakfast plate and DH uses a dinner plate. They also said no seconds. I tickled for your 2 pounds. Hope it holds this week with all your eating out. Maybe sneak in some extra exercise.

Thin, condolences to your friend. I can't imagine anything worse than losing a child. I think it would be something you never get over.

Bob, you had better write the times down for Kate to take her meds instead of relying on the 2 hours after, etc. She may still be somewhat confused from the UTI. It really can mess with your mind. Hope you didn't get in trouble for leaving today.

Monet, if you have any extra money, put some in my account please.

Crystle, why does it take us forever to lose it and put it on so quickly. I'm sure not all the gain is fat. Hang in there, you were doing so good.

have a great evening.

JACK: Sure thing! Just PM me your account number and password, and I will be happy to! :s:

COUNTRY: <<hugs>> Its awful that it comes back on so easy when it is so hard to get off! :(

I just got in from the bank and the grocery store. I ran into a friend at the store, who was shopping with her 9 month old. For the first time, he really seemed to recognize me, which just made my day! (he was almost two months premature, so this is a big milestone!) I 'shopped' with them, so we could visit some. I don't know why I love the grocery store, but I do!

BOB--I know that some counties in FLA have a visiting nurse program, or something like that when a patient needs someone to check in on them daily for a limited period of time. I wonder if you could use that for the next week or so, so that they could help administer at least one medication, and that would leave her to take the other as necessary. Perhaps an oven timer could be set that would ring when she needed to take the other one. Or perhaps she would only take a pill from the blue bottle on the dresser when you called her, and then later took a pill from the white bottle in the kitchen when you called her later. Just some ideas.

Jackie--I often use a luncheon sized plate, instead of a dinner plate, but we normally just have meat and a veggie for dinner, along with a salad sometimes--on a separate plate.

Food today:
B.--SB pancakes with extra egg white andd 1/2 T wheat germ, topped with NSA syrup and fresh fruit.
L. (At a HFS restaurant) a tuna melt on a whole pita, part of a small salad. I couldn't eat all the tuna melt, nor could I eat all the salad. Actually, just nibbled on the salad.
D. Will be roast beef hash, made with 4 oz. left-over roast beef, some pan juices, andd one low carb potato. Some green veggie.

I have been looking at new cars. My present one is 15 years old and leaking about one qt. oil per month. So, it's time. I have had a convertible all these years, and it is definitely fun to drive. So, I'm sticking to the ragtop, with stick (manual) shift, a rear seat (we use it), white or silver with leather seats. It used to be pretty easy to find a car like that, but now-a-days no one knows how to drive a stick, so almost everything comes only in automatic transmission. I've found a nice BMW that will meet my needs, and now I just have to test drive the stick, which doesn't arrive at the dealers for another week or so. I'll keep y'all posted. I'm definitely the one who will do the negotiations. My DH would feel sorry for the dealer and buy at any price. Not me!! :s:

Have a great evening everyone, and make everything you put in your mouth count!!

TONI: I have not done much in the art area...I kind of view the knitting as at least creative! :) Once I get all of the urgent knitting projects done, I think I will pull out my silk painting, and work on it for a while. I splurged today, and had a nice juicy peach too! :) It was so yummy!

Good morning everyone. I woke up up at 4:30 and can't go back to sleep so thought I would get on the computer, grab some coffee and start my day. Yesterday ended well with me wanting to eat but not!! Happy Tuesday Ladies

Hope everyone is still on track this week. Let's make it a good one.

Last night was a busy one. We had dinner, ran up to a clothing store with DD, ran over to the volleyball game, left there and headed straight to the grocery to get a few things. Got home around 9:30, worked out for 18 minutes, fixed lunches and iron 3 pair of pants for DD, crashed on the bed. I'm really :tired: this morning.

I really wanted to stay in bed and skip the treadmill and I was having a really good dream. But I got up and did it.

BF: 1 egg, 2 pcs bacon, 1/2 c milk
snack: green banana
lunch: 1/2 c chicken salad, cauliflower w 2 T ranch dressing, peach.
Dinner, chicken cabobs and veggies. DD & DH are having shrimp cabobs.

Anyone have any ideas what you put on a shrimp cabob (other than shrimp). I have only used peppers and onions and mushrooms with meat.

Monet, I enjoy going to the grocery store too. Maybe we are weird.

Gator, how do you make your pancakes? A BMW convertible sounds wonderful. My DD would be so jealous.

Toni, sounds like you had a good day eating wise. Keep it up. I am trying not to eat after 8:00 so when the hunger starts or the kids start eating, I grab a book or magazine to get my mind off of food.

Cindy, I hate weekend eating too. I hardly ever get in any fruit and my water consumption is down. I need schedule and routine.

Got to get busy, be back later.

Talitha

Buenos Dias all!

I'm off to my mom's for a swim dad with other mom's and kids from church. I had a great time at the Y yesterday. I feel like a million bucks when I get to work out. I'm applying for a discount on the membership. It will take 2 weeks before I know if I am accepted or not. I really hope so, because I know we can't really afford it. I'm going back tomorrow.

Eating was really good yesterday. I'm feeling positive about life in general, which is nice for a change.

MONET- This week is already so crazy. What about next Tuesday?

Gator- Sept 28th is on the calendar :) Let me know what the plan is.

Jack- You've got me convinced. I'll start journaling and counting today!!

I'm off. I'm hoping to get a few laps in today. We'll see what happens.

Jackie--SB pancakes:
3 T raw whole oats (Old fashioned oatmeal, uncooked)
1/4 C no fat cottage cheese
1 egg
dash of sweetener, I use agave nectar, about 1-2 tsp
dash salt , and vanilla if desired
Mix all together in a mini-blender, and blend and pulse for about 10 seconds.
Pour 5 dollar sized pancakes into a hot no-stick pan and cook as for regular pancakes.
Jackie--I often add about 1/2 T wheat germ and another egg white to get more fiber and protein. I also add about 1/4 t baking powder.
I often dampen a paper towel with a bit of oil and wipe the bottom of the non-stick pan with it. Seems to give the pancakes a nicer shade of brown.
To serve, I cut up fresh fruits (orange segments, sliced strawberries, blueberries, sliced peaches, etc) on top. If you want you can drizzle a bit of NSA syrup or cut up one pat of butter into 5 - 6 pieces and put a bit of butter on each pancake. Gotta count all that into your total, however. :) This is a very easy, festive looking breakfast.

Good Morning! Oops...I mean, good afternoon! I slept until 10, and have been lazy since, chatting with Tom, drinking espresso...I finally made a smoothie for breakfast, and just finished it while I was unloading and re-loading the dishwasher. :)

Why is Monet such a bum and sleeping so late??? She stayed up until 3:30 am and finished the baby blanket! I feel so good about getting it done, and I have already called and arranged a time to go visit the baby and mom, and give it to them. I will take lunch, and her hubby works at home and can join us for lunch. That will make it more palatable for Tom, who would feel totally weird with just two women talking about C-sections, and babies!

Breakfast was a smoothie made with a nice fresh, ripe peach, and a cup of water, and 1.5 scoops of vanilla whey protein. I already had a cup of espresso with cream and I am contemplating making a pot of coffee in my french press.

So, I finished the baby blanket and started another project. This one is a nice soft afghan for one of my sisters for Christmas. Maybe THIS year, I will have all my Christmas 'shopping' done by Thanksgiving! I say I want to do that every year, but have never gotten done before December 22 before!

GATOR: A new car sounds like fun! If it were me, I would want a Celica. They have convertibles, and manual transmissions (my preference too!) and it is such an awesome looking car! Plus, we love Toyotas. Alas, my '91 Camry will have to last me a while...I am afraid there is no Celica in my future. :( My daughter, on the other hand, has been saving to buy one, and would be overjoyed to find a convertible with a manual transmission that she could afford. Its getting easier the longer she waits, as her bank account is growing with each paycheck... :)

JACK: How inspiring you are! If I were dreaming something nice, there is NO way I would get up to get on the treadmill! I am SO lazy! :) Once it cools off, I intend to lengthen my walks to 45 minutes, then an hour. If I can do that three or four times a week, I think it will be good. I keep saying I am going to start back with weights too, but have not done it yet. Having Tom off for vacation is nice, but kind of 'rearranges' my day!

TALITHA: Next week is great. I am very flexible! :) Shall we meet at the DFM? Have fun swimming! I hope and pray you can get a discount so you can join the Y. I have considered it, as we have one near us, but I think a Gold's gym membership would be better. I don't need the pool, since we have one and can swim in it from April to October....but a gym sounds like something I would enjoy. I used to belong to a women's gym years ago, and loved it, but it was hard to get here with small kids.

TONI: I hate when I wake up and can't get back to sleep. Last night, I got in bed, but could not sleep. All I could think of was I was three of four rows short of completing the blanket, so I just got up and did it. Once it was done, I slept pretty good! :)

I wonder where Fillise is? I might email her and see if she responds... I also will email Kengjw and see if she responds. Its getting close to her due date...

 I will be back later!

Well, I totally blew it yesterday! Eating was TERRIBLE! Won't go into details but I will say that those M&M's are pure EVIL!! I'm paying for it today. Up 3#'s from yesterday. I know it's not all fat because I am puffy under my eyes and some in my hands. So probably half fat gain and half fluid. But I'm back on track today, so at least that's something good. I did a "small" workout earlier to give myself a boost. It worked. I feel a little better, not as sluggish and I burned some calories, lol. It was Leslie Sansone's Walk and Kick video(30 minutes). The first half is low intensity and then it goes to moderate pace. I didn't want to do alot since I have to teach exercise this evening at church. Man, I've been bored. Having the kids not here leaves me with time on my hands. The house is pretty clean, just not much to do. I could tackle the closets which are horrendous...NOT! I'll put that off for as long as I can. Now I'm looking forward to going to work so that I'll have something to do. Here's my menu for the day:

BF- was plain yogurt with cinnamon and a peach
Snack- 12 almonds
Lunch- will be a HUGE salad made with lots of veggies, tuna, some 2% cheese, and Casear(Carb Well)dressing
Snack- apple, maybe with some Smucker's PB
Supper- barbecued(Carb Well sauce, low sugar)chicken breast, salad with Casear dressing, and barbecued baked beans(Low Sugar, legal).

I'm estimating my calories for the day around 1400, maybe 1500. Supper will have the most because of the high calories from the beans(I put alot of stuff in them). Hoping I'll see 165 again by Thursday. And I'm hoping to see 163 by next Monday. We'll see. I'm attaching a couple of pics, the kid's on the 1st day of school and one is of me and in the pic it looks like I'm pregnant or don't have a waist, but it's because the shirt I'm wearing has ruffles in the front which don't show up well in the pic. P.S.- Boogie has a PC checkup on Monday(he now only has them twice a year!), so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that all is well next Monday.

Monet--LOL :D I've had a Celica GT convertible for the past 15 years. I have loved driving my little '91 Celica but it has an oil leak that will take major work to get repaired, and a bunch of other problems that would cost more to fix than the value of the car is. I checked first to see what Toyota has and, alas, no Celica convertibles. At least with the options I need. I HAVE to have a back seat. Those 2 seaters are really cute, but worthless for anything but sport-driving. And I use the back seat to haul more than groceries!! The only thing Toyota had was a Solara, which isn't that highly rated, and doesn't have those good looking lines that my Celica has or that even the BMW has. So, right now, the BMW is in front running. I checked out Audi, and fell in love with an S4, which is a stick shift (gotta have stick shift!!!) but a humongous engine. It also cost more than I wanted to pay. So, back to the BMW. I am thinking I will order a silver one with gray interior.

Good afternoon:

Boy, has it been busy! I'm not sure where to start. I only skimmed the posts early on Saturday, so don't know what has been going on with everyone, except for the posts this week.

MMM, I was at 122#...so I think that is about the same as last week. I got to the gym yesterday and today...so that's two days of exercise this week, so far. I think my gym may be closing (right after I paid $899 for three years)...long story....I'll give you the details when I have more time, and less to say.

My eating has been pretty good. I started journaling yesterday and will keep that up for awhile.

BF: 1 turkey sausage, 1/4 cup egg beaters with spinach.
Snack: small banana and 5 almond clusters
Lunch: Large veggie/chicken stir-fry (chicken, carrots, snow peas, red & green peppers, onions, mushrooms, bean sprouts, broccoli, with low-sodium soy sauce, garlic and crushed red peppers).
Dinner will be BBQ chicken with corn on the cob and salad.

I tried the Kale over the weekend, and I thought it was good....not great, but definately something I will make again. It sure didn't smell too good when I was boiling it though.

Yesterday was Britt's first day of school, and she LOVED it...but I knew she would. We dropped her off at 8 a.m., and then went to the gym and then I took Lane to swim lessons, and then we went to my sister's house. We didn't even come home after taking Britt to school. After my sister's house, we went to pick up Britt from school.

So far today, we took Britt to school, went to the gym and then I had my appt. with the cardiologist. He put my mind at ease a bit. He wants to see me in three months to follow-up, and told me to go off the Fish Oil supplements that I am on since they have recently (in the past 3-5 years) been linked to palpitations/arrythmias. They used to put patients on them with palpitations, etc... but now discourage them. All the other supps I am taking are alright. He also told me to get a heart rate monitor and to keep my heart rate around 150 when working out. I have to eliminate all caffeine, alcohol, energy type supplements or drinks (which I don't take anyway), and chocolate. The tricuspid valve leak is small enough that no intervention is needed at this time, and will have to just be followed up. I do have to let my doctors know about it since some antibiotics and other medications could make the arrythmias worse.

Monet: Congrats on the 2.5#'s. I am glad you were able to get that baby blanket done!

Talitha: I hope you can get a good deal at the Y; it feels so great to get those workouts in.

Jack: Wow...congrats on that 9#'s. You have done awesome with your exercise. The "taco salad" was actually a taco casserole on top of a bed of lettuce. I got the recipe off the SOBE portion of this board. If you don't find it, let me know and I will post it when I have more time.

Toni: Sorry MMM wasn't so motivational for you. Maybe next week. Have you heard back on any of your tests yet?

Gator: I am so glad you are finally seeing those #'s go down; I know it is always a challenge for you. Good luck with all the eating out that you will be doing this week. I hope you find a great deal on a car you really like.

Thin: I am so sorry to hear about Rachel's dance teacher's baby. It is so sad to hear those stories....seems so unfair. I am sure the parents were just devastated. My heart goes out to them.

BOB: Good to see you! I haven't read all of the weekend posts, so I am not sure what is wrong with Kate, but I sure hope she feels better soon. She is so lucky to have you!

Country: You are probably showing a little bit of fluid; I'm sure that number on the scale will be back down in no time.

Heart: Sorry to hear that you gave in to that evil chocolate temptation  . I just ordered some new videos from beachbody....they are called TurboJam; it is the newest craze in the health clubs. They claim you can burn 700 calories in one 45-minute jam session. If my gym ends up closing, I am going to need it. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I'll be praying for Boogie.

Gotta run...Lane's having a meltdown.

I'm back..

Sure glad this day is almost over. Boring.

Hope DH will take a wak with me tonight. I also have to do my wts.

Gator, thanks for the recipe, I may try them tomorrow if DD didn't eat all the cottage cheese. I never use butter on toast or pancakes. After you add the jelly/syrup you can't tell and why add those extra calories.

Monet, Congrats on getting the blanket done. I know the lady will love it. I can imagine how having Tom home rearranges your day. I can accomplish a lot more alone.

Talitha, have fun at the pool. Hope that discount for the Y comes through.

Laurie, you are back on track today and that is what matters. I can't get over how the kids have grown. You look wonderful too. Good luck on the checkup.

Nat, glad enjoyed her first day back to school. I'm so happy for you that nothing willhave to be done about the heart. It may be touch keeping your heart rate during exercise at 150.

Have a great evening.

What a day! The pool was great. I got a few laps in. Not as many as I wanted, but better than none. I got a bit of sun too.
At my mom's house, Jake started crawling up the steps. I'm thinking what the heck!! He's 7 months old and he jsut started crwling 2 weeks ago! I'm really not ready to face the steps. Lickily, our house is all on one level. IT's the grandparents we have to worry about.
So we got home and I made a few sales calls. Sold $200 of products! Pretty good for 1/2 hour on the phone.

Trav got home an hour ago and took the kids to playoin the front yard and wait for my brother to show up. So here I was working on emails when he comes rushing in with Jake screaming like I've never heard. Apparently, Jake wriggled out of his arms and fell ALL THE WAY down the 6 cement steps in front of our house! Oh my GOD!!!!! I serously thought we were going to go to the emergency room. He has a pretty big bump on his head, but not too bad. And he didn't cry for long or act sleepy. I'm going to keep an eye on him all night. I've been aftaid of those steps since we moved in. They are very steep with no rail. I can't wait until we get rid of them. Infortunately, that's pretty far down the list.

I have an appointment next Wed with the nitritionist at my Homeopath's office. I'm going to journal starting tomorrow everything I put in my mouth for a week. I'm so excited!

Monet- How about Wed morning? I will need stuff about then.

Pancho- That really stinks about your gym!! I would be devestated. How did you cook the kale? I didn't boil mine. I sauteed it with butter, garlic, onions and white wine. It needs a good amount of salt, too.

Heart- I fell prey to the new 'bigger M&M's last week. Such weakness....

Have a great night!

TALITHA: Oh, gosh, that sounds so scary about Jake falling down the stairs. Thank God they are about made out of rubber when they are little like that. Watch his pupils. If they are dialated unevenly, you probably ought to take him to the doctor. That is what they told me to watch for when my daughter hit her head on the driveway and came in blind....they also had us wake her up every two hours to make sure she could tell us her name, and stuff. Obviously, you can't do that. Wednesday is totally fine. Its also pay day... :) I will try and plan a menu by then too! Otherwise, I spend ENTIRELY too much. Let me know what time. I of course would prefer after rush hour. Do you want to eat lunch there?

Dinner tonight was beef in plum sauce, made in the pressure cooker. I served it with brown rice, and steamed kale. Lunch was left over chana dal with leftover curry sauce, and two slices of deli chicken meat with two wedges of laughing cow light. I also had a handful of macadamia nuts while I was preparing my lunch.

I am really making progress on my afghan. I have a triangle about 36 inches on a side already. If I use all the yarn I bought, it is going to be huge! :)

Time to go to bed. I am SO tired! Sweet dreams everyone!

Good morning everyone,
I started the day with an early walk and went a little further than my normal route. My DH got up really early and I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. So I was on the street before 7. Yesterday was a really difficult day for me because for some reason I wanted to eat anything and everything--especially those things not good for my bod. If there had been a 7-11 next door, I would have raided it for all its junk food. This is really the first time this has happenned since we got back from France the first part of June. I ended up eating my dinner about 3:30, and then having a small bowl of cereal when I got home from my class at 9 pm. That's the best I could do, and I was REALLY tempted to stop at a convenience store on the way to class to grab a bag of chips. The only reason that I did not was that I was running a little late, and there was a big line of cars at the light where the store was. Maybe God was protecting me from myself. Anyway, I ate more than I intended, but I was not a total failure, food-wise, yesterday.
Today is a new day, and I am starting with my wonderful oatmeal that my DH fixed me. Today is also the start of the 43rd year of our marriage, as we celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary today. My DH gave me a nice bright orange polo shirt, and we are going out to a nice restaurant tonight. I probably will get him a card. :) Maybe I'll wear a sexy nighty to bed tonight. :D

Anyway, I've got to go. No time for replies. I work today at the pregnancy center.

Monet and Talitha, have a great day today.

Good morning ladies.

The only thing good about today is that it is pay day. I literally dropped into bed at 10:00 last night and I am exhausted today for some reason. After dinner last night DD and I went for a 2 mile walk at a much faster pace than DH & I use. Then I did my wts for 20 minutes. Then I had to fix lunches. I don't think I moved at all in the bed. Now I can't keep my eyes open.

I wanted to pass the TM this morning. My body ached and I was so tired, but I didn't. I could barley stand it for the 18 minutes but I stuck it out.

bf: Gator's pancakes 3 T sf syrup
lunch: salad with 1oz chicken, cheese, cabbage, mushrooms. Gator's dressing.
dinner: either chicken quesadillias or chinese stir fry over brown rice.

Talitha, I'm so glad Jake wasn't seriously hurt. Those babies can be out of your arms in seconds. Your poor DH must have felt terrible.

Gator, happy anniversary. 42 years is awesome in this day and age. I tried the pancakes this morning and they were really good. They just needed something. I might add a dash of cinnamon the next time. How many calories are in them? Do you count them as 1/2 starchy carb?

Monet, I have never heard of some of the things you eat. How exciting to be so creative.

Have a great day. The board is so slow this week. I will be back later.

Good morning Everyone,
JAke seems to be fine. I kept him in bed with us last night, just to be safe. Poor little guy has 3 big bumps on his head. I gave him some tylenol once, and that's all he needed.

I'm having a stay at home and work day. I've been doing so much that I can't keep up with my business. This months numbers are fine, but I'm worried that next month will really suffer. Gotta get on it.

I'm starting to journal today. I'm going to cut out all sugar (except fruit) becaus eI've just gotten out of control. The scale was up higher than it has been since I had Jake! :(

MONET- Let's meet at 11:30 and have lunch, then shop. That's when everything on the line is freshest. :p

Gator- Good job on the extra walking,a nd I hope you have a wonderful anniversary. You should give him a box of Altoids. They can be very..... interesting....

Be back later.

JACK- We were posting at the same time. Trav was devestated all night. He felt so guilty. Twice he said, "I'm so sorry I hurt your boy." with tears in his eyes. I said" He's OUR boy, and it could have happened just as easily to me" although I kinda doubt that. I'm pretty careful on the steps because they are so scary.

Good morning.. Up and had a smoothie for breakfast. I can't wait to try Gator's pancakes...But not today. Hopefully tomorrow. I have to go get some mice poison today. Living in the woods has its disadvantages sometime and mice are it. My outside cat isn't doing her job. EEEEKKKKK!!! My ham and beans were good last night for supper. I was hopeing to have a bunch leftover for my lunches but I didn't. Maybe enough for one day. Today I'll be having lunch out so hope I can find something legal. Time to go get ready for town and to clean up the kitchen...

08-24-2005, 12:13 PM
Howdy everyone:

I was at 121.5# this morning, which is surprising since it is TOM, and I got weak yesterday and had two cupcakes. I kept feeling deprived all day; isn't that pathetic? I have a few good days and then when the sugar cravings are supposed to be subsiding...they start up strong. It is definately harder "restarting" this then starting it originally. I am back on track this morning...I have had one egg, and a few slices of bacon. I REALLY want some cereal w/ blueberries. I might have some tomorrow if my weight is still down.

Anyhow....a quick rundown on the gym, and then I have to take Lane to a "non-cooking" cooking class. She gets to make goodies and then eat them. The gym I joined has a long-term good standing reputation in the valley. They have 5 locations; 3 of which have been open for over 20 years. Well, I have been overhearing people talking about two of the locations being closed, and one re-opening. I guess the employees at the location I work out at have not been able to cash their checks. The director found a new job a few weeks ago, the sales staff is gone, and one of the best personal trainers walked out yesterday with all her stuff. I heard another trainer talking to clients about starting to train at her home. Hmmm.....I guess that's enough to lead one to think that the gym is in big trouble. I am going to dispute the $899 with my credit card company, but it's been 6 months since the charge was put on there, so I am probably out that money; that really SUCKS! I'll keep you posted. I just ordered a new workout program called TurboJam (one of the hottest classes being taught at gyms now). You are supposed to be able to burn 700 calories in 45 minutes.

Jack: I think I exercise closer to 170bpm, so it will definately be an adjustment. I like to do hi/lo exercise, and he told me to keep it at a constant level instead of doing the hi/lo. It will be a new challenge, but I am just thankful I can still exercise. I just have to find a good quality monitor. Good job getting your exercise in!

Talitha: THANK GOD Jake is O.K. How scary that must be. They sure are tougher than we give them credit for, eh? I will be anxious to hear how your appt. with your homeo goes.....if you mention the sugar cravings, they may give you something called Bio Gymnema...that's what mine gave to me, but I went off everything when I started having these palpitations. I see my homeo again on Sept. 3rd. I boiled my kale just to condense it a bit, and then sauteed it like you mentioned last week. I put a little bit of Smart Balance and a little bit of olive oil, and then sauteed it with white wine, garlic, onions and seasonings.

Gator: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hear you; I felt those cravings myself yesterday, but I gave in to mine! I really like to blame it on hormones since I am PMS'ing, but not sure if that is really truly the cause or not. I seem to be more in control of my eating when I don't feel full, bloated and fat anyway! We'll see how I do today. I need to quit blaming other things and take responsibility for my eating. I am journaling this week though, and will keep up with that; it is eye-opening, and one of the reasons I lost so quickly in the beginning.

Toni: Your post made me laugh. You said that you wanted to try Gator's pancakes, but not today....I expected the next sentence to be that you needed some ingredient to make them that you didn't have. And, your next sentence was that you needed to get mice poisoning. I was wondering if Gator's pancakes included that  .

I gotta go get ready. I'll check in later.

Take care!

Just a fly by. Breakfast this morning was a strawberry/water smoothie with a scoop and half of whey protein. And of course, espresso with cream! :)

PANCHO: The Gynema Syvestre is an old Aruyveda (sp?) herbal remedy for blood sugar problems. I understand if you put it directly on your tongue it blocks the taste of sweet. You can also take it in a capsule form to help improve blood sugar, and insulin levels. Studies have shown it actually helps the pancreas rebuild the beta cells that produce insulin, which has made it a promising supplement for Type 1 diabetics. I started taking it yesterday to see if it helps my insulin resistance. I have my fingers crossed! :)

JACK: You are SO good about that treadmill...makes me wish mine was not still buried beneath all the crap out of the laundry room! I wish Tom would finish the plumbing, but he has opted to use his time off to work outside this week, instead. I can't blame him. He is definitely an outdoorsy type...

TALITHA: 11:30 it is! I am looking forward to it! Tell Travis not to feel guilty about letting poor Jake fall. At least Jake won't remember it and remind him whenever he wants something! (my kids have done that to us...)

GATOR: Happy Anniversary! Now why ever did your husband buy you an orange polo shirt?

I finished up one skein of my yarn for the afghan I am working on...one down, seven to go! :) I may not make it that big, as it is working up larger than I expected. I am delighted!

TONI: Oops..I did not mean to omit a reply to you! Don't feed that outdoor cat for a few days, or feed it lightly, and it might be spurred on to a more active hunting attitude! My cats are still rather kittenish, and they catch anything that moves! One of them has taken to hunting for those huge green hornworms that like tomatoes. She always seems to find one and carries it around with her! Weird cat!

Jackie--The basic recipe for the SB pancakes is 180 KCals. 80 for the whole egg, 60 for the oats and 40 for the no-fat cottage cheese. If you add wheat germ and another egg white, add 20 more. Then I think the agave adds just a bit, but I have also used other no-cal sweeteners. Splenda would work. Then just add for the syrup and the fruit, and there you have it!

Pancho--We must have had the same vibes yesterday. I would have given my arm for a bag of chips!!! :yikes:

Eating so far today seems to be going well. I had oatmeal with dried cherries and sk. milk for bf. Lunch was half a grilled ham and swiss sandwich, 1/2 cup peach conserve, and 1 plain buffalo wing. Dinner will be, hmmm, I don't know, but something good at the restaurant.

We are going back to the car dealership today. MONET, great minds must think alike, since you like the Celica. I hate to part with that little car. It's been my "baby" for 14 years and I wish Toyota still made them, convertible. Hope you and Talitha have a good time visiting together today.

Ellen
08-24-2005, 03:07 PM
GATOR: You can't still get a convertible Celica? Bummer... it might be worth keeping your old one, and fixing it up in a few years to sell as a collector's item. Celica's are VERY popular, and hard to find used at a good price. Talitha and I are meeting NEXT Wednesday...:)

GatorGal
08-24-2005, 03:26 PM
Monet--Ya wanna buy my old Celica? :) It is leaking oil pretty badly and the engine needs to be removed to get at the seal to, hopefully, fix it. That and a few other seals might or might not do the job. The guy at the BMW place said I might be able to get $2500 for it on E-bay or some such place. Of course, the hassle factor has some value.

Hey guys. Man, this fluid doesn't seem to want to budge. I was so pissed to find that I weighed the same this morning. I did so well yesterday with eating and exercise BUT I didn't account for salt, so that's the culprit. Just wish it would hurry up and flush out. It's very discouraging, but I'm sticking it out because I know it has to come off soon. I just got thru with my workout, so glad I did it although I didn't want to at the time. Did the 4 mile WATP express. Here's my menu:

BF- was 1/2 cantaloupe and plain yogurt with splenda and cinnamon
Snack- 1/2 medium grapefruit
Lunch- will be a salad made with veggies, 2 eggs, a little 2% cheese, Casear dressing(all I got).
Snack- not sure, maybe some nuts
Supper- spaghetti(NSA sauce, no noodles), big salad with Casear dressing, piece of ww garlic toast

I need to go make my lunch!

PANCHO- I saw that and wanted to order it but hubby bawked at it. Although I don't think you need to go blasting 700 cals in an hour because a wind might come along and blow you away, lol. I thought it would do me good and boost my metabolism. So you try it out and give me all the details. If it's like the Burn It Up, then no thanks. I HATE that workout. The Ramp it UP is fine, but the other literally has made me sick.

Well, here's some information that might show how much a little "innocent" bite of something, even when hungry, can sabotage you. I worked this morning, and we were slammed with phone calls and women coming in. Since I didn't have a huge breakfast, I was getting pretty hungry by 12:30. A training class was going on at the center and the director had ordered lunch for them: pizza, buffalo wings, cake. I passed by on the way to the restroom, between clients, and thought, "Oh, good, chicken wings. This will tide me over until I can eat my sandwich, as I am hungry." Well, I just figured it out, and one little wing, just one joint and not the whole wing, without any dressing, is 130 calories. That's a lot for not much. I definitely could not live on buffalo wings. If I ate enough to be satisfying, I'd be way over 1000 calories. And that's not counting anything for breakfast or supper. So, the lesson, watch your portion size, but also watch for how "insane" foods can sabotage your weight loss, even though they are, technically, "legal." Some things just shouldn't be eaten while working hard to drop some pounds! :)

Thought I would psot before I left.

I'm still dragging. Hope I can get my wts in before we go to the Elks Club. I have enough calories left to have a glass of wine. Just might do it.

Talitha, glad Jake was alright through the night. That is the hard part.

Toni, when I read your post at first I thought you had to get mice poison for Gator's pancakes. :fr:

Nat, can you use one of the other locations? They probably won't be able to refund any money if they can't make payroll. Good luck with it.

Gator, I can easily eat about 10 wings. That would be over 1000 calories in one meal. No wonder the wt doesn't budge sometimes. The same thing with cheese. I really stop and think about what I am eating now. I keep looking for those things with little calories. Have fun tonight.

Monet, you are going to town with the afghan. You will be done in no-time. At least Tom is getting some outside jobs done.

Laurie, Will you still be leading the exercise classes at night once you start working?

have a great evening.

Well, we bought the car!
A 2006 BMW convertible, silver with a black top. Gray leather seats and a back seat, not just a 2-seater. I'll get it sometime in Oct. They are building it in Germany somewhere. My DH was so good; he didn't say a word and I did all the negotiations. It always works out better that way for our pocketbook!!!

LOL, I think that's funny about the rat poison and the pancakes. Definitely don't want to eat those. Although it may do pretty well at catching some rats.

Jackie--Yeah, I could easily eat 10 wings. My fav part of the chicken. Today is definitely different from yesterday. I would love to have a snack right now because I'm starting to get hungry from lunch, which I had at 12:30. We are going out at 7, so I may have something small. But I don't need to eat chips, ice cream, or anything like that, that I was craving yesterday. I don't know why I had that. Maybe it was boredom. Does anyone else notice that when you stay EXTREMELY busy, it is easy to not get hungry.

heartmom
08-24-2005, 06:17 PM
Another check in...doing okay today. Add 12 almonds to my menu. I think that will put me somewhere around 1400 calories for the day. I'm really just estimating. It may be over or under. Gator- Yes, when I'm busy I'm less likely to "random" eat. I have been busy enough to tell myself that I need to stop and eat even if not really hungry. If not, it seems like when the hunger hits, I'm ravenous and likely to do damage. Your metabolism needs fuel ever so often. Jack-k- I'm going to try and keep my exercise class on Tues and Thur, but I may have to make it a little earlier, instead of being there at 5:30, it'll be 5. Not for sure, just have to see how it works out. I can already hear one of the ladies complaining about the time because she'll have to rush home and change and come straight to exercise class and not have time to "unwind." But if I'm picking up my kids by 4:30, then I won't be able to go home and come back to the church. I live in the boonies, about 30 minutes outside of town, 25 minutes from the church. So I'll want to go ahead and go to the church, workout, and then go home. If they don't like it, then oh, well. I'm the instructor and it'll have to work or the class will be finished. I really would like to keep it going. I'm already going to have exercise as soon as I get home on the other days to be able to still get my workouts in. The one thing I don't like is knowing that I'll be eating supper later. Maybe the evening workouts will rev my metabolism enough that it doesn't alter my weight loss efforts. Alright, I was just checking in.

What's the recipe for these pancakes(how do you cook them?)- are they good? I tried making some low carb ones from a mix but they were extremely fattening because you use vegetable oil, so I figured I would simply give them up.

Pancho- what's that taco recipe? I make one where you make the meat with taco seasoning(or your own spices), use refried beans, salsa, cheese, sour cream, whatever toppings you like...just put it over a bed of lettuce. The rest of the family always eats Doritos with theirs.

Cindy, I really hope that you lose that pound this week. You deserve it! But--even if you don't, you WILL start losing soon, so be strong so that you can be victorious.

OK, here's the menu for what I had tonight:
one frozen marguerita. I NEVER have these, but it was a festive occasion, so I went for it. What the He!!. Then my DH and I shared a tomato/mozarella salad, 2 slices of tomato and cheese each. Also shared a "flatbread" appetizer with my DH. A V-e-e-e-e-rrrr-y thin, almost thin cracker like crust topped with shrimp, hot peppers and some pineapple. I ordered shrimp stuffed with lump crabmeat and he had a 6 oz. filet. We shared everything--turf and surf! We had dessert, which was a 3" tall shot glass sort of thing filled with tiny layers of carrot cake and icing. Definitely a no-no, but scaled down to a sane size. And that was it! Not too bad, but not perfect either. Definitely over my caloric limit but not an insane day.
We will be leaving tomorrow so will see everyone Monday morning bright and early. I'll try to check in tomorrow b/f we leave.

Hey everyone! Its late...Tom and I watched the first DVD of Ivanhoe, by A&E. I got a Romance movie set of A&E DVDs for Christmas from my daughter last year, and we decided we really ought to watch all of them..I have seen Pride and Prejudice over a dozen times..all six hours...but had not seen some of the others. So far, its bloody, violent, but pretty good. We will probably watch the rest tomorrow night when we get home from our daughter and son in laws...we are going there for dinner...

I knitted all through the three or four hours of the movie...I started with four stitches, and have been adding on a stitch per row, and I now have 92 stitches on the needles. Its already about 45 inches on a side. (its a triangle now, but I will decrease for the second half to make a square) I am excited about how fast its going, and how good its looking!

Dinner tonight was a salad with cherry tomatoes out of the garden, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing, and beef stew with fennel, carrots, celery and some low carb potatoes. Lunch was some deli chicken, with Laughing Cow wedges, and leftover beef in ginger plum sauce on rice, and some leftover kale.

I feel like such a slob. Next week, I am going to have to clean my house! Its finally beginning to drive me nuts! :)

Good night! I will check in in the morning!

Good Thursday morning.

It is actually Friday for me. I am taking off tomorrow and DH and I will be going antique shopping. He wants to get a cabinet for the dining room to display his liquor bottles. He collects pretty liquors or commenrative bottles. It will be nice to spend the day together. I'm sure all meals will be eaten out so I will have to be very careful.

Got my Tm in this morning. I actually felt a lot better. Got in bed early again. While I was lifting wts last night, I was exhausted and could hardly do them. I struggled through. I had increased the wt and I think my muscles were fatigued.

Gator, I think boredom is a big contributor to over-eating. If I am busy here at work, I can go all day and not eat. Let it get slow and all I think about is food. Great anniversary present, a BMW. Glad you got what you wanted. I don't think your dinner was so bad, considering it was your anniversary. Have a great trip.

Laurie, I always work out after dinner. That way I can burn it off and I am not eating so late. When we were alone (No kids at home) we would walk as soon as I got home and then fixi dinner. Now everyone is waiting for me to cook.

Cindy, 1 lb a week would be great, then we would want 2. The important thing is to keep on track and we will see a loss eventually. The yo-yo eating is what kills us. Hope you get a loss come MMM. Great going on your exercise.

bf: 2 hard boiled eggs, tea
lunch, chicken salad on 1 pc bread, 1 pickle spear, strawberries
dinner: probably Chinese stir fry and brown rice.

Got to run, be back later. Have a great day everyone.

JACK: Yep, an idle mind is the devil's workshop!

I am going to head out to Costco in a few minutes, to get a few things, then we are going to head up to our daughter's for the afternoon and dinner. I get to see all my grandkitties. (she has 8, and tells me those are the only grandkids she is planning on giving me...I don't entirely believe her, but she thinks its hilarious! Since I DO like cats, I don't mind, though 8 is a few more than I would like. I can't say much since we have six!)

I will try and get back here before we head up to Flowery Branch....

I am back from Costco and I am waiting on Tom to be ready for us to leave to head up to Flowery Branch. I bought myself a present at Costco...they had a coupon for $8 off a French easel with oil, acrylic and watercolor paints, plus brushes included. After the coupon, it was only $31. Cheap French easels start at $50, so even without the paint, its a good price. I may wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree in December.

I knitted some more this morning, and will carry something in the car. I am loving having something I accomplished to look at! :)

Breakfast this morning was eggs benedict...one English muffin, two poached eggs, some ham slices, and two tablespoons of hollandaise sauce...and of course my usual espresso.

I may eat something for 'lunch' before we go, just because I know we will probably not eat dinner until pretty late.

I hope everyone is doing well...

Good day!

I had a bowl of cheerios w/ blueberries and skim milk this morning; I couldn't handle eggs one more day!

I ordered a heart rate monitor; it is a polar, and a basic model, but I still paid $79. Some of those go up to nearly $400. I got the polar brand because it is supposed to be the most accurate/reliable. I didn't get too many bells/whistles, but I did get a smaller one (better for a woman). It will be overnighted, so I should have it for my Saturday workout.

I went to the gym on Monday and Tuesday. Lane has a tumbling class tomorrow, so I will walk/run the track while she is in there, and then go to the gym on Saturday a.m. That will be 4 days this week.

I am making Lane's lunch and then we will be leaving to meet her teacher; she is very excited.

Britt had a nasty cough last night, but I gave her some of her homeo cough meds, a nose strip, chest rub and a vaporizer, and she slept very well. She was coughing a bit this morning, but not too bad. I will check in on her when we go meet Lane's teacher.

We will go get the tires rotated and the truck washed after meeting Lane's teacher today. Other than that, not too much going on.

Monet: I have the gymnema in capsule and liquid form. If you put the liquid under your tongue, anything you eat tastes like cardboard. Have fun with your DD today!

Heart: I'll let you know about the TurboJam; I am excited to try it. I am psyched about the music aspect of the workout. It is so important to shake up the workouts a bit, so we don't get bored. There will be plenty of days that my kids are home sick and I can't get to the gym; it will be nice to have an alternative. The taco casserole I was talking about is on this site (3FC), but is under the recipes for South Beach diet, I think for any phase!

Jack: I'm trying to get the money back from my credit card company, not the gym. I know I am flat out of luck there  . Oh well! Have fun on your day off with hubby tomorrow.

Gator: Congrats on your new car; I am sure it is just beautiful. Be sure to post a picture when you get it.

I gotta go get Lane ready. I'll try to check in later.

Have a great OP day!

I am SO AGGRAVATED!! These stupid 3 pounds from Monday's bad day of eating still aren't gone. I've lost half, but the other half is still lingering. I'm still hanging in there. I really hope I see better news on the scale tomorrow. Anyway, I did a 2 mile walk(WATP) not too long ago and it made me feel better, worked up a pretty good sweat, too. Here's my menu:

BF- half cantaloupe and 12 almonds
Snack- 1/2 grapefruit(after workout)
Lunch- getting ready to eat...a big salad made with 1 whole egg, 1 egg white, a spoon of bacon bits, 1/2 serving of 2% cheese, and veggies. I think I will make(I don't like) myself eat a balsamic and olive oil blend dressing. I simply don't need the salt from the bottled kind of dressing.
Snack- not sure..maybe some yogurt?
Supper- making chili with beans. Skipping the cheese because of the added salt, the chili has enough in it(I use Chili Magic and add stuff to it).

Jack-k- I could never to a workout with a belly full of food. It's actually better to do a workout about 2 hours after eating a meal or so because then the calories you burn come from your fat storage and not the food you just ate.

Alright, I'm hungry!

We got in a while ago from our daughter and son in law's. We had whole wheat crust calzones for dinner. Oh, my gosh! They were awesome! I love having a chef in the family!

We got home and I had a message to call my sister. It was bad news...no one died, but she has had so much hardship over the last year, and now another BIG awful has happened to her. Her husband died less than a year ago- its been a really hard year. I can't go into details right now, but will explain more later.

Its about time for bed, actually, past time...so I will sign off, and hopefully get back on in the morning.

Good Morning. I've got my shoes on and I'm ready to go walk. SO far I have done some sort of exercise every day since Monday. Last night Trav and I went on a walk. I can't do more than 30 minutes, but it's something. So, here I go again.

Monet- I'm so sorry for your sister, whatever it is. The last year of my life has been really hard, but that puts it back into perspective.

I'm at work so I'll make this quick!

Talked to Deb last night and they really got hit by the storm! She lost her backyard fence, a tree, and water was coming in her front door. The carpet was already soaked in her living room.
No power, so now she's afraid for the food in the freezer.
I'll be talking to her this morning to check on her and I'll let y'all know.

As for me, it's still ify on whether we will get all the rain that was predicted. As I'm sure y'all have already seen, it really turned and is over KEY WEST right now and is supposed to turn. IF...it turns quicker than thought, it will skirt the coast and we will still get the soaking and wind predicted. IF it waits to turn and is mor in the middle of the GULF, we will still get rain, just not soaked!~

I'll talk to y'all later!

Bob: So sorry for you and this darn tropical weather. And...how's the job going? I haven't had time to look through the posts...I've been thinking about you, though...

Monet: Hope your sister's black cloud floats away soon. Nothing's worse than having to watch a loved one go through a bunch of junk in life.

Laurie: Hang in there...you'll loose the weight. Have you started the new job yet?

Pancho: Sounds like you've been keeping busy!!

Jack: Hope you came across some good finds shopping with hubby!!

Okay...not much time for more replies...I have to get outta here and go grocery shopping. I've been wallowing around rock bottom with eating so bad so that I won't go into it too much...let's just say that it involved Friday's potato skins...while my kids got a pizza and my DD chose carrot sticks with ranch dressing and my son chose oranges for side dishes. Some fine example I am to my kids!! They chose healthy choices and here I am eating potato skins for dinner. BUT...

Now that I have that all out of my system...we went to the two family reunions in Rochester and...can you believe that with my German background and all the little old ladies in my family...German little old ladies...not ONE German Potato Salad at either family reunion!!! Not ONE!! And this was the anticipated dish I had gone off the deep end for. So...next year I'll just have to make my own and bring it!!

So...we spent a week in Vermont with no car because DH had to use it to work in, so I had to be creative with things to do...and I flat-out refused to turn on the TV. So, I dragged the kids to the roof of the Holiday Inn, which had a beautiful view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains in NY, so I had them sketch the view. My DD used her colored pencils and DS used crayons...his was soo cute, it looked like stonehenge with green lumps...but he did so well and drew a sail boat on the water...and DD's was great, too. We gave them to the receptionist at the front desk. Then we went for a nature walk around the hotel and picked flowers for the receptionist, too. And we went to an aquatic-type museum called ECHO that was really nice for the kids...and I ate a hamburger in a lakeside cafe that cost $9!!

Anyhow...this past week after our family reunions, we spent some time in Rochester going to a small theme park called Seabreeze and we went to the zoo and to the beach and visited some girlfriends of mine that I see when I go to Rochester. Some that I literally grew up with. One works at the zoo and is the elephant trainer!! She does an awesome job.

So, now it's down to serious business, getting organized for back to school (which starts on Sept. 6!!) and cleaning my house and sticking to plan on my WOE. With that being said, I'm off to the store to stock up on good things and I'm going to change my ticker to reflect my gain and my goal. Nothing's in my future for cheating opportunities, so it's onward and upward (or downward, with the scale, that is). I'm really confident that the near ten pounds I've gained since my all-time low of 158 will come off in a couple weeks. I'm setting a goal to be at 150 by October 1.

Also, I'm going to drag my daughter out of bed every morning at 5:30 to go on a half hour walk with me. She's not too thrilled, but she has to be on the bus at 6:45, so I'm thinking that this will be a nice way to get up and moving and will tire her out so she'll go to sleep before 10-11 pm every night. I have the hardest time getting her to sleep at night...bedtime is 9pm, but she is still up and farting around until sooo late, I feel like I need to stand guard at the foot of her bed to keep her in it and get some sleep. Maybe if I get her up early...which 5:30 isn't much earlier than she'd need to get up anyway...then she'll drop easier at night and get some sleep. Let's see how it goes....

Okay...I'm off to go shopping, then I have to clean the living bejeepers out of my disgusting, dusty, house. Junior needs a bath, too. He stinks like the kennel :( .

See you guys!!

Good morning! We got up, had smoothies for breakfast, espresso, then went for a walk. Tom is about to lounge by the pool and read his Bible for a bit, and I am going to make chicken salad for us to carry to some friends for lunch. I really hope you Floridians are keeping safe! I just read that 4 are confirmed dead from Katrina.

Okay, I am really PISSED!!!! That's to put it mildly. I'm STILL the same as yesterday, at 166. I'm STILL holding on to one of the 3 pounds from Monday. This royally sucks. I've never had this problem before getting rid of the fluid/weight. I just don't understand. I woke up this morning and noticed that I could get my rings off first thing in the AM(haven't been able to this week), and that my eyes were only a little puffy(better). So I expected for all of the 3 pounds to be gone, well, not so. AAARRGGGH! I DESERVE for them to be gone dadgumit. Okay I'm thru with my tantrum. Really, this is bewildering me. I'm drinking water, I'm exercising, I'm eating right, what gives? The only thing I can think of is maybe I gained some muscle? I just don't know. I'm not going to let it get the best of me. This is one test that I am going to pass. Before, I know this would have been enough for me to say to heck with it I might as well eat off plan. But I'm not going that route this time. I know in the long run that attitude will do more harm than good. Besides, the scale has to start going down soon, right?!! I'm just going to take it day by day and hope to see a drop soon. If we go out for dinner tonight I'm going to be cautious of what I order. Think I will eat the grilled chicken salad if we go to our fave Mexican restaurant. I'm definetly staying away from their starchy/salty beans. For BF, I had a peach and a cup of plain yogurt with cinnamon. Probably have a snack around 11. Lunch will be a salad made with a bowl of leftover chili with beans, some 2% cheese, and sour cream. Not for sure about supper. Well, I was going to post something else but forgot what, lol. Check in later...

TECH: Its good to have you back! Good luck on getting your daughter up to walk with you! My kids had to catch the high school bus at 6:30, and it was awful! Studies show that older kids do better sleeping later, and elementary kids do better earlier, but for some reason, the schools around here just don't schedule accordingly!

Good Morning:

I don't have too much time; we have to leave for Lane's tumbling class in about 45 minutes.

Such a sad story....a few days ago, a 53-yr. old man drove into a Wal-Mart parking lot here (the one I always go to, in a very nice area of town) and shot two employees that were collecting carts. He then reloaded, got out and shot them more. He said he DID NOT have a grievance with Wal-Mart. One was a young boy (18-yrs old), and the other a 37-yr old father/husband working a second job there so they could afford to buy a new home. He was not on drugs/alcohol, but assumed to have a mental disorder. Some witnesses got his license plate number, and the cops went right to his house and arrested him. It is so sad! There is a huge memorial set up outside the store, and they have brought counselors in to help the employees get through it. It was just a random senseless act of violence. I really wonder about this world we live in sometimes! It scares me to think I could have had my girls with me in the parking lot there, and they could have been in the line of gunfire.

I am up to 123# this morning, but am not surprised since it is that TOM, and yesterday, I had a lot of carbs!

Delaney met her teacher yesterday and is excited about school. She will start after Labor Day.

Monet: Those calzones sound Yummy! So sorry your sister is facing another hardship. I hope all works out well for her!

Talitha: Great job on exercise!

BOB: so good to see your post. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you with Katrina. My in-laws live in Panama City, so we are keeping an eye on it. How is Kate feeling? How is work going?

Tech: Glad you had a fun vacation. We missed you! I hope you are able to buckle down and meet that October goal. It's so hard to get back into it when you've been naughty for so long. Trust me, I know!!

Heart: I think that when we yo-yo diet so much that our bodies get confused. Maybe that is an official pound you gained, or maybe it is muscle, but none the less don't let it get you down. Let it be incentive to work harder, or keep up the good work with your eating and exercise! It's bound to come off again soon. I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALE AWHILE! If your rings slipped off easily then don't worry about what the scale said.

Gator: I have your pasta sauce in my Nesco and it smells GOOOOD! I will be glad to have dinner ready and waiting, all except boiling the noodles, and throwing the salad on the plates.

Gotta run!

Take care!

Back from lunch... I had a phone call from a friend last night, and finally got back with her today. Her daughter's school is looking for a part time art teacher, and I have an interview on Monday morning! I need to work up my resume, and find something to wear to the interview.... It pays better than I expected, and the time commitment is wonderful...just 9 to 3 on Wednesdays. Perfect! :) Enough to pay for my yarn habit, and to keep me out of trouble. ;)

Lunch was chicken salad, and triscuits, salad and olive oil dressing, with a small piece of 70% chocolate for dessert.

I really should clean some, but I think I will go chill by the pool this afternoon, and maybe knit some. We have a get together to go to at some friends' house tonight, which I would gladly skip but Tom wants to go to it. :( I really want to watch the second half of Ivanhoe instead!

HEART: I don't know what to say. I am sorry the scale is not moving as fast as you would like it to. You know what? It never does. Put it away and only weigh once a week. You are driving yourself crazy weighing all the time. Don't set yourself up for frustration and failure - put it away and only weigh once a week.

PANCHO: That is scary about that man. Its so horrifying...but it IS rare. Our culture is so stressful, I think people just freak.

I need to go write up a resume and figure out what to fix tonight...I will be back later!

Back again...man, I am soooo bored today. Been up since 5:30, already straighten the house up, I could go ahead and mop and clean the bathrooms but I just don't feel like it. When dh gets off work I have to go to the courthouse and renew my tag(what fun), run to the bank, return the kid's pants at Fred's, and go to Save Rite and Walmart for groceries. Gee whiz, I hate doing it so late. That means it will probably be a late supper. Oh yea, for my morning snack I had a spoon of PB and 1/2 cup 1% milk. After lunch(salad with chili, 2% cheese, and sour cream), I wanted something sweet so I had a sf fudge pop(40 c). I'm guessing that my calories are "around" 850 or so. So nothing else until supper. Question- Is soy milk better for you than cow milk? Just curious. I found a recipe for a legal chocolate milkshake on the SOBE board. I'm going to try it out sometime this weekend(have to buy the ingredients first)and if it's good, I'll post. Anyone have any good crockpot recipes? I need to buy a larger crockpot so that I have room to put a whole pack of drumsticks etc...in it. I have a standard size which is fine for some things but I'm sure I'll be using my crockpot more when I start work.

Pancho- That is awful. I simply don't understand what and why something like that could go through someone's head. It's really beyond my comprehension. All I can say is that he definetly was sick or pure evil. Now there are 2 families grieving for their loved ones by such a senseless act. BTW- When should your TurboJam arrive? They sent me an email saying Last Chance to Save...I want to get it but hubby is being a butt. If it was something he wanted it would be a different story. I'm sure they will eventually put it on sale again down the road.

Friday Funny...

Housekeeping Tip: Keep lots of Get Well cards on your mantle. That way when unexpected guests arrive they will think you have been sick and overlook your messy house.

I'm bored so I'm going to post this recipe(which is good)..

Royal Zuchinni Parmesean

1 lb ground beef
2 onions, chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 6 oz can tomato paste
1/4 tsp pepper
4-5 medium zukes, sliced cross-wise about 1/4" thick
1 green onion, chopped
1 bell pepper chopped
1 tsp salt
1 10 oz can Rotel
1/2 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/2 cup parmesean cheese

Saute ground beef, bell pepper, and onion in oil until brown. Add Rotel, tomato sauce and paste. Simmer 10 min. Blend in cheddar, oregano, salt, pepper, and garlic. Add zukes. Simmer another 10 min or so. Put into ungreased shallow 3 qt. casserole dish and sprinkle with parmesean. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Of course, I never follow a recipe exactly. I used more ground beef, omitted the oil, used alot more seasoning(LOVE garlic), and I also added some NSA sp. sauce because I added more meat. I served it with LC pasta last week or so. It's good by itself or probably with some brown rice, or even on a bed of sauteed cabbage.

HEART: Personally, I think its wise to stay away from soy. Unless its fermented as soy sauce, or miso or tempeh. Soy has an enzyme that binds with thyroid hormones and makes them unusable to the cells, and therefore slows down metabolizm. There is plenty of info on this on the web. Mercola's sight has some, about.com's thyroid pages has research stating that thyroid patients should be especially wary of soy. It just stands to reason if you are trying to lose weight, you should not use soy, as it can hamper your efforts. Granted there are many who are not effected much that they can tell, but why take a chance? I have some good crockpot recipes. I believe I already posted the Chicken Cattiatore, but if you can't find it, I can post again. I have a wonderful little low carb crockpot recipe book that has been a real winner.

I am also thinking about all those in Florida, enough is enough already!! :dizzy: I have a niece and her family that lives in Pensacola Beach. When they evecuate it is just she and her children, as her husband is an ER doctor and he has to stay. We have reservations for Panama City Beach the week of September 17-23, so we are watching the weather very closely. If we have to cancel, then we could go see my parents on Tybee Island or we could go to a beach that we've never been to before. :chin: Anyone got any favorites that are not too far from North Georgia?

Just a quick check-in. We have to go get Britt in awhile.

When Lane was in her tumbling class, I went and walked/ran on the indoor track. I was on there about 40 minutes, and took over 5300 steps (over 2 1/2 miles). I also plan to get to the gym tomorrow a.m. (that will be 4 days this week).

BF: a tiny bowl of cheerios w/ soy milk, 1 turkey sausage patty & egg beaters eggs.

Snack: banana and 6 nut clusters

Snack: 1/4 of a cookie (it was a large cookie)

Lunch: 1 boiled egg, steamed broccolini & carrots, and grape tomatoes.

Dinner: Will be spaghetti & salad

Monet: Good luck with the interview; I'm sure they will hire you on the spot. How fun that would be. A little extra money for doing something you enjoy would be a real bonus.

Heart: I think I should have the turbo jam by next week sometime. I think the last day to order it at 33% is the 30th. BUT, you are right, they do have specials every once in awhile. I only paid $23.32 the first month, and then $13.37 the following two months, and that is for 5 DVD's, and some bonus tapes too. I think it will pay for itself. They also added some other bonus stuff for ordering now. I'll let you know how I like it. Keep up the great work with exercise. I am allergic to dairy so I use soy, but I don't think I ever have enough of it to be a problem. I think it is one of those things like fluoride....a little is actually good for you but too much can possibly be harmful. I let Britt have the soybutter (peanut butter) since she is allergic to peanuts, but I have her drink the rice milk because I don't want her to get too much soy at her age. If you drink skim milk, and don't have a problem digesting the lactose, it is definatly lower in fat/sugars than soymilk, since they typically add some type of sweetener to soymilk. I buy one from Westsoy, it is unsweetened vanilla flavor with no added sugar, and I like it on cereal, but don't ever just drink a glass of it, although it taste pretty good!

Well, I gotta go get Britt from school.

Have a great weekend!!!

Take care,
Nat

Okay...this will probably be it for me for the weekend. Just wanted to say I've had an ON PLAN day!! Sort of...probably haven't eaten enough. I skipped breakfast because there was nothing to eat, when I came home I had some baby carrots and raw cauliflower with some low carb ranch dressing for lunch. Snack was an illegal, but Nature Valley granola bar. They come in twos, but I only had one. I'm drinking lots of water and for dinner we're having grilled boneless chicken breast, marinated in lemon, olive oil and mrs dash and slicing it up on a huge salad with two kinds of lettuce, oranges, tomatoes, cukes, olives and red peppers. I will resist snacks after dinner with a vengence.

Good morning...I feel really crumby today, so this is just a fly by. We just woke up - though I did get up two hours ago and take my meds... I need to wander down and find something for breakfast. The sun is shining, so I imagine its already too hot for a walk.

I broke the most important of the Leptin rules last night and ate after dinner. We had gone to some friends, and they had spiced olives, which I tried. They were so good I ate some more. Then, I somehow got some of the spices (ie red pepper) down my throat the wrong way. One of our friends gave me an avocado, which soothed the burn, but that was two major servings after dinner. I did stay up late, but it was still a no no. :( Back to the straight and narrow this morning...

I need to go help Tom fix espresso.

I took my Weather 101 course in 1993 and we talked extensively about New Orleans and how it's a sitting duck for a hurricane disaster, being below sea level and all. I certainly hope NOT, but this hurricane looks like it is headed right for NO. This is good news, sort of, to the Florida panhandle, but not so nice for NO. But we'll see where mother nature steers Katrina. At the moment, Katrina is going through an eyewall replacement cycle and the BP has jumped up a bit, slowing any immediate strengthening, but I think that she will strenghten to a CAT 4. That's about it for now on hurricanes.

As for eating...I've been totally ON PLAN all day. I got South Beach wheat squares cereal for breakfast and are they GOOD!! I wanted another bowl, but held myself to one. I had cheese and triscuits and strawberries for a snack and ham/cheese/olive rollups with cantaloupe and grapes for lunch. I'm on my second 20 oz bottle of water and we're having bbq chicken for dinner and probably a big salad with lots of raw veggies.

Okay...that's it...just thought I'd chime in here since it's been so quiet.

Enjoy the weekend....Kris

Just a fly by. Something happened today, and I am not able to talk about it, but I feel like I have been thrown into a vortex. We are going to have to make some very hard decision over the next few days, so I am not sure how much I will be around. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, you all, for being here....

Good morning everyone. Finally made it here at the end of the weekend. Dont weekends just go way to fast ?
Ive had a great eating weekend so far. Ive really been strict during the day and went out to dinner friday and Sat nights but both nights just had a grilled chicken breast and veges and during the day yesterday and todays plan too, Ive just had some berries and protein shakes. Its really helped with the "eating too much sodium on the weekends" problem. So Ill see if it helps keep the scale down from added water weight and maybe I can start the week losing real weight and not water weight.
Heading to my moms shortly to do the yard and some other little errands. Will be getting my exercise in tonight after having two days off.

Heart- I know how that is trying to get that extra 1-2 pounds off from water weight ( as stated above lol) Hang in there. The scale is such a bad indicator specially when youve tried so hard during the week to eat good and exercise good.

Monet- Good luck on your interview on Monday. That would be great extra money !
Prayers for you and whatever is needed. Hope all is ok.

Missy- prayers for you also but for the storm ..hoping it stays away.

Everyone else in or near the Hurricane areas.. prayers to all of you also. Ive lived in eartquake country and now tornado country but never hurricane , but I imagine it must be a scary thing.

Have a great rest of the weekend to all !

Missy: I hope like heck you can convince your hubby to get the heck outta there!! You are going to have one heck of a night... Hugs and prayers to you. Check in quickly as you can after the storm passes and let us know how you fared, okay?

Monet: Hugs and prayers to you, too. Hope things smooth out soon...and don't forget to fill us in when you're ready.

Cindy: I've been being very good this weekend, too...but I think I've been overdoing the starchy carbs in an attempt to find snacks...a few triscuits here...a few squares fo SBD cereal there. But I've been exercising every day, walking for a mile and a half and drinking my water. In retrospect, I've come a long way from my last days of evil eating habits while on vacation, that's for sure. One step...one pound...at a time

Okay...gotta run...Kris

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!

I see MISSY has been on already and filled you in. I can tell you that they are out boarding up and trying to batten down the hatches! I'm very afraid for the two of them...they are just outside of New Orleans!

I heard from SEF...

Kids boarded up the house and did all the necessary putting away of things. We are packed or packing and will soon be leaving. Either to TX where Lori has an Uncle or FL where her parents are.

Debbie called this morning and offered us accommodations...no electricity but we could BBQ!

Let you know when we get back.

Thanks again it means a lot!

Sent MELF (Mary) a note to check on them, but haven't heard back. Will let you know when I know!

LAURIE...You might get the tail on this one...PREPARE and we will PRAY!!!

SUSAN...The AFTERMATH is heading your way...PREPARE!!! and we'll PRAY!!!

I'll be back a littl later!

MONET...Fingers crossed for you and good thoughts coming your way! We're here for you!

Hey guys. As you probably already know, it looks like we are in the direct path of Katrina. Meridian just doesn't handle strong winds that well, trees go down all over the place. Then there is the threat of tornadoes. This just doesn't look good at all. I wasn't born yet when Camille(sp?) hit but my parents told me it was just awful and that here in Meridian was awful, people died here and tornadoes were spun off like crazy. My Dad was an ambulance driver and was very busy with injured people. That's here in East Mississippi. It was far worse on the coast in South MS. My great Aunt was literally blown away and never found to this day. I had other relatives that were on there roofs waiting to be rescued. They said that when the people brought in food and supplies they would leave out with dead bodies, just awful. I hope and pray that this will not be the case. But this isn't looking good. Boogie has his appt tomorrow in Jackson, but looks like we won't be making it. My Dad said he could probably take him for me when we reschedule. I also start work Tuesday morning, don't know what the weather or the condition will be like on Tuesday. Anyway, my eating has been good, exercise has been good. Yesterday I was 165, so the 3 #'s finally came off from Monday's splurge. But last night I was bad..I didn't EAT off plan, but I drank 4(yes, 4!) Michelob Ultra's(lc beer). Usually alcohol make me retain fluid, but it really made my kidney's work this time. I got up 2-3 times last night to pee. This morning I was 163, but it's probably not my "actual" weight. Tomorrow will be the official weigh in. If it's up a pound to 164, then I will be content(I guess), at least I will have lost an official pound. And if the 163 sticks, I'll be jumping for joy, lol. Today, I'm not getting enough calories though. I didn't feel like eating this AM(think 4 beers might have something to do with that, lol). So I skipped bf which is something I rarely do. I went to my parent's house earlier and they were having KFC with the free chocolate cake you get with the family meals. Oh boy, by then my stomach was growling. But I kept invisioning that 163 on the scale so I left without eating a single bite of anything. Got home going on 1 and ate. Had a Boca(soy)cheeseburger on not quite legal bun, mustard and sf ketchup and some cuke slices and 6 grape tomatoes on the side. I can't find any legal buns anymore besides the huge Sara Lee kind. So I got the Light Blue Bunny wheat ones that have 70 cals and 17 net carbs. I toasted it hoping that would lower the GI count some. But that still isn't no more than 230 calories or so. I'll probably eat a snack afterwhile. Not sure what I'm cooking for supper, it'll be 100% legal though. I haven't exercised today and don't know if I feel like it, I'm really lacking in energy. Right now I'm suppossed to be cleaning the house because it's a wreck and I need to mop and stuff before I start work. Ahhhh, guess I've rambled enough, need to get up and do something with my life today...

Monet- We're here for you when you are ready to talk. I'm sorry that you are obviously having a hard with whatever it is, I'll be thinking of you and hoping that things start looking up for you.

Missy- RUN! You guys definetly shouldn't stick around. I see that the outer rain bands are already moving into Louisiana.

Hey ya'll, sorry I have not be around much these last few weeks. Having a rough time with therapy for my shoulder. The pain is almost unbearable some days, so needless to say the scale has not gone down & eating is not on plan.

Have checked the board yesterday & was able to do some reading. Just read the rest to catch up to date.

Monet, sorry to hear that you are going through a rough spot in the road. Praying that God will give you strenght & guidance in the right direction.

Missy, sorry to hear that Terry will not leave, as you will feel much more of this storm that I will for sure. Praying for you!

BOB, thanks for your email & your concern. Just sent you a reply. Tried to call SEF & left a message on her machine.

Laurie, praying for you, as you will feel more of this storm than I will for sure.

Here is my situation. I am near the coast, about 200 miles from N.O. so we are ok & staying where we are. We expect to get heavy rains, tropical storm winds of 30-50 mph tonight with possible gusts of 60 mph, so we've picked up around the yard & secured what needed to be tied down.

I have a friend that lives in Hammond, LA which is just north of N.O. & she was going to come stay with us but they waited till late afternoon to leave. She called back about 6pm & said they drove to I-10, saw that all 4 lanes were heading west but was bumper to bumper at a crawl so they went back home rather than risk being stranded along the road during the storm. They had just felt 50 mph winds, heavy rain & lost power at that time so my prayers are especially with them as they live in a mobile home. It is a double wide but still.....

Will check back in tomorrow if we have power.

Mary
