Good Morning, LWL :sunny:
How was your weekend? Mine was frantic as usual, with the usual two pound gain on the scale. This is it, the line in the sand, yada yada yada... no more eating off plan on Saturday nights!
I think I'm changing my split around this week. I'm going to try to get mine into the same alignment as the other trainers and heavy lifters at the gym, so if I have an opening when they all lift, I can work in with them. It's getting too impossible to lift on my own without spotters or a partner all the time. And lonely :(
Dh and DS came home from a concert really late last night (stuck in beach traffic). Thank heavens I didn't go, but I'm exhausted today anyway. Not a great way to start lifting with the big boys  Oh well.
Have a good one,
08-22-2005, 08:35 AM
Got out of bed the wrong side this morning and took AGES to get going! Not helped by a meeting about our potentially new computer system :tired: !
Hopefully will be kicking some butt with my barbell this afternoon! I bought some lovely pork medallions yesterday that I was dying to eat for dinner, but was just so full I thought I'd better not waste them! They're calling my name now! I'm looking forward to going home and giving those babies a nice grilling! :lol3: :T
08-22-2005, 12:47 PM
Monday -- LEGS !! :strong: One guy approached me today at the gym and jokingly said: ''Don't work so hard, you're making us guys look like wimps!'' Yeah that's me :D !! It was a very good workout...
The weekend was good... not perfect eating though so it's back on track today...
08-22-2005, 12:58 PM
Mwah hahahahaha! Wimpy men, I love it! Go Ilene! :cheer:
Just a few more minutes till I get home to my pork chops!
08-22-2005, 02:23 PM
Ilene, I had a guy walk up behind while I was bench pressing last week and say "what are you doing??? You're just a little woman and I'm a big man (he was old) and you're lifting more than me!" I wasn't even on my heavy set yet, but I almost dropped the :censored: bar on my chest!
Soooo, why aren't these guys working a little harder
08-22-2005, 02:46 PM
" a little woman " TUT! :rollpin:
I lift at home, so no judgement apart from HIM INDOORS who doesn't care what I do so long as he doesn't have to do it! I think he's happy with his scrawny little chicken legs and little-boy chest! :lol3: (Nice butt tho ;) )
Grilled my little porkie babies, they were beyootiful! :T
Off out to the pub later with a diet coke for company! Oooh, does anyone know of a gingerbread man type recipe that's reasonably on track!? I might experiment at the weekend!
08-22-2005, 05:05 PM
Morning LWL! We're back from our mini-vacation/camping trip (and no, Rabbit, we sleep in the back of our pickup truck which has an oversize shell on it, on 4" foam - very comfy). I did no formal exercise while we were gone, but I am very pleased with how much stronger I am - very handy for lifting a canoe or cooler. Also much more endurance, handy for climbing the hill to pick blueberries. :)
Tonight is a cardio night. Have stuff for the gym in the car as the forecast is for rain. However, at noon it's still very nice out, so I may go home first and get my bike to do it outdoors. We'll see what the weather really is at 5 pm. Had to adjust my schedule since I have meetings at 7pm tomorrow and Wed. I can get to the gym and do weights and clean up between 5 and 7, but if I did cardio, no way - I'm too soaked, and tired. So my weights will end up being T/W/Fri this week, but at least they'll get done.
It rained hard all day yesterday, and was in the 40's this morning. Needed the heater/defroster in the car on the way to work.
08-22-2005, 05:08 PM
LOL @ Ilene and Mel making the guys look wimpy
Does lugging 8-9 loads of laundry up and down 3 flights of stairs on a saturday count as lifting? :dunno: Cause that's what I did and boy was I pooped! I hate laundry day LOL.
Yesterday I took it easy and chilled out.
Today I worked my legs. Did 4 sets of 10 front leg extensions w/ 40 lbs, 3 sets of calf raises, and 3 sets of squats with 30 lbs. Quick question? I'm trying to melt ALOT OF FAT but I am not really getting alot of resistance when I lift. I am a pretty overweight woman trying to lose ALOT of fat, so I want to know which is better cause I always read that you do high reps low weights to burn fat and low reps heavier weights to do more building of the muscles. Is this correct? I mean, I feel the effects of my leg workouts the next day or so but never on the same day and I was wondering if that means that I'm not getting enough resistance?
08-22-2005, 05:39 PM
Tonight is cardio. ( Jazzercise) Can't decide whether to stay for the "floor" excersises, or cut out early, go home, and do my own weights. I'm having a dilema as to whether to stay with Jazz. or not. It's fun, safe, and close to work. However, I don't really feel as challenged as I should, and do not feel challenged at all by the floor work. So, I'll just have to decide one way or the other. Do you guys check in each day and account for your day's workout? If so, that's great.
08-22-2005, 06:12 PM
I finally coming back to the gym this week! Today was upper body as well as abs. I feel great :) I missed it a lot!
Tomorrow is back and chest :)
08-22-2005, 06:31 PM
Hi all, I had a really good weekend. I met one of the gals from UK fat chicks, YP1 in her home town of Leeds. It was really nice to catch up face to face.
I did my weights on Sunday morning, I did two workouts today!!! One cardio before work and a cardio after work!!! Only because I felt like it, and I am finding it hard to get 90 minutes in in one sessions now, so I am splitting them! Weights again tomorrow, so no double workouts!!! I am so lucky having a gym at work, and another in my village.
The boys in my gym make me laugh. No cute ones, apart from cute gym instructor, and quite a few whose spotters lift more of the weight than they do!!!
08-23-2005, 04:28 AM
 Skipped my weights yesterday NAUGHTY FRUS ;) and played scrabble instead (no pub...). Was really really pooped for no apparent reason :dunno:
Back on with the kickboxing tonight and perhaps I'll split my weights into 2 sessions tomorrow, one before work and one after! Those dumbbell flies I added have really worked my pecs - they're still feeling it!
08-23-2005, 07:00 AM
Hey everyone! I hope you're all having great weeks!
I did really well at my Pump class yesterday and put up a few of the weights - I'm definately feeling it today! Had a great cardio workout today and I'm planning on doing body combat tomorrow night. After a weekend that was definately 'off plan' it feels good to be back into the swing of things.
08-23-2005, 10:13 AM
I got up today and did Tae-Bo. First time I've worked out this month. I was able to do the whole thing including the 25 pushups at the end. My arms felt a little weird - they kind of hurt actually, but I kept going. Now I feel all endorphiny-high, which I love. The fridge at work is packed with a day's worth of healthy foods that I really like and I have de-bugged my fridge and cabinets at home. The scale is up 10 lbs so it's time to get back on track.
Ilene and Mel, your gym experiences are funny. Little woman? I don't know if I would have been offended or just tickled. I guess it would depend on the age of the person that said it. I remember when I was 19 and in the military, this old OLD geezer called me a "pretty little colored gal." I couldn't get mad or offended because I knew that given his age, he genuinely thought that calling me colored was a compliment. Maybe the same thing applies to goofy men in gyms.
Hey Shashenka, we both are coming back on the same week. Let's make sure that we both stay in there for a good LONG TIME!
WaterRat, your vacation sounds great! I've always wanted to go canoeing. I did it once when I was 10 but wasn't allowed to hold an oar so that doesn't count to me.
Hi to all the new people that have hopped on since I hopped off.
08-23-2005, 10:18 AM
Hey Tiki :grouphug: Welcome back!!
Ok, I'm off to the gym, NO, I'm off to run!! Today is a running day!
08-23-2005, 11:37 AM
Are we a little confused today Ilene? Don't get too mixed up or you might end up sitting on your TV, watching the couch.
08-23-2005, 01:36 PM
Are we a little confused today Ilene? Don't get too mixed up or you might end up sitting on your TV, watching the couch.
Tiki. How'd you kow I did that last night!! :p
08-23-2005, 02:54 PM
Hey LWL gals! It's me, Cindy, back from the land of the lost!
I've popped back in here on occasion to keep up on what happening, but I must admit that I'm back in not so great shape - 20# higher than I was last time I was here....
Reset my tracker to help me to get that 20# off before working on that last 20# I was hoping to lose.
I looked and I last posted in April! See what a busy life will do to you??? I've learned the hard way that I need help in dealing with staying on track while having a busy life.
I'm still with my boyfriend Pete, same one from before, and he and I have just had a fun time this summer eating and drinking and not working out :(
But, I'm back on track, and serious about it this time. I'm not happy with what I look and feel like these days.
Starting a combo of BFL and South Beach - easing back into cardio this week, will start lifting again next week. Haven't touched a dumbbell since February! How sad is that???
How's everyone doing?
08-23-2005, 06:45 PM
Hey Cindy !! :grouphug: I was thinking of you the other day too when Dip popped in... And where is that Dipster anyways? hmmmm.... Anyways, it's really nice to ''see'' you again, I missed you!!
Today food was terrible!!! :( ... But I had a great 10k run... Maybe I was so hungry because of my leg workout yesterday, that's probably why now that I think of it... My butt is very very sore, BTW!!
08-23-2005, 06:53 PM
What, Dip popped up? I'll have to scan back and see what she has to say! Hey Dip - I've missed you!
My food has been good so far today - and am trying a new recipe for dinner - Shrimp, bean and corn salad - has a southwest flair, with salsa, chile powder, garlic and cumin for seasonings. I'll let you know how it is.
Walked at lunch today - will try to do so again tonight. Need to get stretching - I am soooo tight!
08-23-2005, 07:44 PM
Whoohoooo! Hi Cindy! Welcome back :)
Hi Tiki- Welcome back to you, too ;) I wasn't offended either by the comments. The guy who said it was at least 70...not that I'm real young. The only time I've ever been offended was a few years ago I asked a 40-ish guy for a spot and he told me women shouldn't lift heavy weights, so no, he wouldn't spot me :?:
Did cardio this am early, then chest this afternoon. Lifted with the big boys again. I feel kind of puny with my 50 pound db's needing a spotter when they are using 115's! Of course, I use those 115's every day, too. I sit on them  Gonna be sore tomorrow....
Food is on track, but I bought fresh figs. Yum, they are delicious and I have to eat them (big box!) before they go bad.
08-24-2005, 04:39 AM
Feeling a bit under the weather so am laying off the heavy weights perhaps till Sat. Although if I feel like it I might have a run through with 50% of what I usually do tonight :dunno:
Still keeping up with the kickboxing because we have belt gradings coming up! :hyper:
08-24-2005, 10:05 AM
2F, I like that eat rubbish, feel rubbish tag line. Very true, very VERY true.
Ilene, congrats on the sore butt.
Mel, I must go to a wimpy gym cause I have NEVER seen anyone lift our 115s dumbbells, not even to pull them down to sit on them. Go figure.
I had a clean food day yesterday, low on the overall calorie total, but given what I've eaten in the past month, I can stand the calorie deficit. I worked out this morning. Yay ME!! I will keep up the cardio only for the rest of this week and then get back into weight lifting next week. Don't want to overshock my system too much. I do feel better though about myself in the past 24 hours than I have in the past 24 days. Yep, gotta love those endorphins.
08-24-2005, 01:24 PM
Tiki- Here's one of my new workout partners. He and his buds toss those 115's around. :o
08-24-2005, 01:28 PM
Today was leg day for me. I'm forcing myself to do more squats. For some reason, they still feel awkward for me, and I always get nauseated when I do them! Go figure!
Then cardio on the bike. Now that everyone has assured me that it is ok to jog at 5.2 mph on the treadmill, I am going to work on increasing my running time. I thought I should be at 6.0 (= 10 min mile) and couldn't do much more than 1 to 1:30 mins at a time. Tuesday's are great -- hardly anyone is there at the gym in the a.m.!
I ordered a book on core exercises: "The Core Strength Workout: Get Flat Abs and a Healthy Back: Pilates, Yoga, Exercise Ball" by Karon Karter. Hope to get some good ideas for core work. Also ordered "Fight Fat After Forty" by Pamela Peeke. My body is betraying me, and I need all the ammo I can get!!!
I just said Tuesdays are great, but today is Wednesday. Guess I'll join Ilene sitting on her TV! :dizzy:
08-24-2005, 02:08 PM
I am still battling with my weight creeping up. i feel like after my mountain biking AND triathlon I got more fat than I had in two years! I am so mad at myself, how could that happen?
Anyways, did legs yesterday. And chest and abs. Felt great! In the afternoon could barely fit into my jeans (which of course got really tight, what do I expect?)
Have cardioplanned today - I guess it is time for my treadmill at home to get into action - when I was biking I totally neglected my treadmill, but now since I can not bike due to tight schedules wake up treadmill! I am contemplating participating in 100km running relay - unfortunately this year one is on Nov5th when I have to be home in the afternoon. So I am thinking to take first leg which is a flat one... It is about 10km and I hope I have enough time to prepare (and hopefully loose my extra 6 pounds!)
Nice to see new/old people here :) have anice day! BTW, I posted my triathlon pics as well as mountain biking pics on women who lift
08-24-2005, 03:34 PM
Totally off subject but funny, funny, funny! And let me say that there is NO offense intended. My mother is 63 today and is much younger, smarter, savvier, etc. than the woman I'm talking about...
We have a lady working as a temp at our front desk who is about 60 years old. She wears little granny glasses, has her hair in two little buns on the side of her head, talks about her grandkids all the time, wears a little old sweater, wool socks and sandals because she is always freezing. Just mentally a sweet little old lady. She's not computer savvy at all. She asks me the dumbest computer related questions and I explain as simple as I can so she can learn.
Well after lunch today she told me she had problems with the computer doing things. I wasn't sure what she meant so I asked her to explain. Then she said that pictures keep popping up. I sent her on break and looked in her cookies folder. Turns out this woman has been surfing porn sites for the past 5 days. I am so shocked. I didn't even think she knew how to get on the net and it turns out she is on the net looking for nookie.
08-24-2005, 04:13 PM
Mel - I want one of those!!!!!!
08-24-2005, 04:41 PM
I just said Tuesdays are great, but today is Wednesday. Guess I'll join Ilene sitting on her TV! @ Luanne, welcome to my club, it's cause we're in our 40's dangnabit!!!!
Sandy -- Those are great pics you're so small!
Today I had a great chest, shoulder and tricep workout and a 20k bike ride
08-24-2005, 04:52 PM
Oh, my, Tiki  I thought I'd had it with temps when I found them playing solitaire! Funny too how some people have certain conceptions of age. I am 60, and several friends who are younger but act - and dress - much older! You're only as old as you let yourself be is my motto! :) But surfing porn sites at work....
08-24-2005, 05:49 PM
Tiki -- That is funny! But do you think that someone else could've been sitting at her desk when she's on break and doing the surfing?...
08-24-2005, 06:17 PM
ARGH and it's not even National Pirate Day!!
CINDY!!!!! 20? ME TOO! I have thought about you so much and was hoping you were lurking last week, and saw if I came back, you'd come back too. Now we can do our 20 together!
Hey Gang, I am really busy at work this week, and computer kind of crashed at home so this is a quickie from work, and I will try to get on tonite. All is good otherwise!
Luv ya, Chickies!
08-24-2005, 07:39 PM
A bit off topic, but related, as it's about food - does anyone know of a good alternative to using Chile powder in recipes? I really don't like the flavor of it - it just seems flat to me. I'd like something more flavorful, maybe with a bit more zip to it.
08-24-2005, 10:43 PM
Like what kind of recipes do you want a sub for the chili powder?
I use curry powder a lot, or ginger and garlic. Kind of depends what you are making, tho.
08-25-2005, 10:13 AM
Hi there Dip!!!! 20? Yeah, you'll knock that out in no time. How's the boat?
Ilene, I sit at her computer during her breaks and I know I haven't been surfing porn. Its her. I didn't tell on her as her last day is Friday anyway and if they let her go early, I'll be stuck as the receptionist until the new person starts on Monday.
I got in another clean food day yesterday and worked out again this morning. Plus at cheer practice yesterday we did an hour of conditioning and I did it all with the team.
08-25-2005, 03:25 PM
I have to report that I started a new phase in my life - exercising in the morning. I tried it yesterday and I loved it - did cardio for 30 minutes and WANTED to do more. So did 40 min. Today was a bliss and 2 pounds went off during "watch what I eat and cardio" trial. I also have to report that I am logging everything into Fit Day for 2 weeks - record for me and it gets easier with time!
I am also on cloud nine as our agility club where we are not members YET with my dog invited us to perform this weekend... I am not sure my dog and I are ready, but this is a great opportunity and I am so happy - our hard work paid off - and now I hope we will not have problems getting into this club :)
Have a nice day everybody!
08-25-2005, 03:38 PM
I ate my lunch and my afternoon snack and am STILL hungry! YIKES!!!!!
08-25-2005, 03:50 PM
I did my first workout dedicated to just legs today. It was great and waaaay harder than it should have been. My 'calves' would hardly 'raise' me :) Biking is good but not as good as weights for legs.
08-25-2005, 06:28 PM
Got to double kickboxing. I think I might have kicked my under-the-weather-ness into touch! Can't weight(!) to get back to my barbell! Precious barbell, how I've missed you...
Tiki - I TOTALLY got the munchies today but I surfed the lighten up thread instead of rooting around in my drawers for snacks! Much more slimming!
08-25-2005, 06:50 PM
Mel, about the chile powder - it's for Southwest/Tex-Mex dishes that I want it, so I want the same kind of flavor, but better!
Someone I work with says he makes his own chile powder - just a 1:1:.5 ratio of cumin, oregeno and cayenne pepper. I may try that.
08-25-2005, 06:54 PM
Hey Dip - yes, we can work on this 20# together, then work to make some further progress.
The thing that depresses me about this is that my shape went right back to where it was before - all the fat to my hips, thighs, back and upper arms. Before when I gained, but took it off right away, that didn't happen - it was all pretty much in the gut. But this is seeming more permanent in that it redistributed itself :(
Oh, well, it's my own fault, and I'll just have to deal with it!
I've walked every day this week, so that's a good start back into cardio. Food has been so-so - I'm needing to break the snacking habit, and that's hard! At least I already know what to eat, so it's just a matter of reigning in the habit and the imagined hunger.
How's everyone else out there doing? Lovely day here - we'd cooled off a bit, after our hot, hot summer, but today is pretty warm again.
08-25-2005, 09:57 PM
Hey, Cindy ... I go to the same bulk food store all the time. They have all kinds of spices and would have some good ideas for you, I think.
 That didn't come out right. I hardly think you're gonna drive all the way to Stratford, Ontario for spices :dizzy: I mean that you could probably find them in a bulk food store near you.
08-25-2005, 10:10 PM
Cindy- Try buying halapeno peppers and dicing them up in addition to the spices you already put in to the recipe. Or add some chipotle sauce. I've found dried chipotle peppers in some supermarkets here. You live in Wegman's country don't you? They have an amazing assortment of spices and fresh peppers, herbs, etc.
Today I did back with the big boys. Every inch of me is sore. My legs are still sore from Monday. We did 50 pullups (in 5 sets). I can't imagine what I'm going to feel like by Saturday morning! Tuesday's chest workout finished with me face down on the floor with a 45 pound plate on my back. I ignored my own advice to clients: do pushups to failure minus one :dizzy:
08-25-2005, 10:15 PM
Susan -- Are you sitting on the TV and watching the chair too  ??
08-25-2005, 10:22 PM
No, I'm sitting on the computer typing a chair :)
08-25-2005, 10:26 PM
No, I'm sitting on the computer typing a chair :):lol3::lol3:
08-26-2005, 04:39 AM
I've vandallised my chair. It's 'armless now!
I'm pooped after hardcore kickboxing! Loving the pain in my arms! Did ultra fast jabs last night, that and keeping my motorbike upright in howling crosswinds on the motorway have really done me in! Ah well! Early finish today! YAHOOO! Then bank holiday! YAY! :hyper: I might actually get some chores done this weekend!
08-26-2005, 08:38 AM
Hello LWL - things are going well, just not much to say. I know that is shocking for me. Maybe I should get that checked out?
Workouts are going well, food is clean and weight is not moving. I am now wearing size 2 jeans, so shape is still changing. I have been here before, and I know I am doing everything right, so, soon enough the scale will catch up. I am scheduled to walk/run 18 miles tomorrow (yikes), but since I bonked at 16 I may do anywhere from 14 - 18 depending how I feel. For newbies, I am training for a marathon in Dec, but the group I am training with has their marathon 5 weeks before mine, so I think this is where I start to vere off to my own schedule.
Got the dress from Norm Thompson, plus when shopping with my mom. Boy, she is good - she can walk into a store she has never been inside before and zero in on the one piece of clothing that will look dynamite on me. So, now I have choices. I still don't like shopping, but I do like looking good and having decsions to make. The 1st affair is just a few weeks away so I have some time still.
Have a great weekend - off to do back and tris. Tiki, so glad you are back
08-26-2005, 10:02 AM
I have to report that I started a new phase in my life - exercising in the morning. I tried it yesterday and I loved it - did cardio for 30 minutes and WANTED to do more. So did 40 min.
Sandy - what time are you going to bed? and what time are you getting up? I want to be able to exercise in the morning but I need my sleep!
08-26-2005, 10:18 AM
I also workout in the am. I try to be in bed by 11PM so I can be up at 6 while the crew is out of school. Once school is back in I push it back to 10PM so I can be up by 4:30AM.
I didn't get my workout in this AM. I had an emotionally distraught 11 year old on my hands last night and was up with her until 1AM. She told me through many MANY tears, that she had a lot on her mind so we waded through all of it to get her calmed down. One of her issues does actually concern me. Because she cheers and is in gymnastics, her legs are very muscular. Most of her jeans are too small because of the thighs. I keep trying to convince her that muscle is beautiful (I would kill for legs like hers) and that because of her genetics she builds muscle quickly. She only sees fat and is worried about the first day of school and being called fat.
08-26-2005, 12:53 PM
Well, another day with morning workout started! I am an early riser (the only one in my 5 people family) but still if I have no plans, I would just roll in bed. So right now I am waking up at 6:30 AM which is a bit late but OK for this week and next. When school starts I will have to move it to 6 AM, but my daughter can walk the dog instead of me like she did before, so I hope I will manage. I only do cardio during morning workout, like treadmill, but I hope that I will do some tapes probably too.
Result: doing morning cardio AND watching what I eat and I am about 4 pounds lighter - tell me it is water or such, but at my state of mind it does not matter - I feel great and scale cooperates - what else can I wish for? BTW, another thing about doing it in the morning, which I also thought is not true - is that you burst your metabolism for the day. I am not sure, probably it is coincidence, but I feel like I am not as hungry as usually, or it is just as everybody here says - change in routine simply does it :)
So it is big party tonight, tomorrow is rafting trip (my biceps already hurt just from thinking about it, I did it two years ago and it is quite a workout for arms!) and Sunday is our agility performance, which means lots of running! Have a nice weekend,
08-26-2005, 02:41 PM
Good afternoon LWL!
Day 5 of walking at lunch, and I finally am feeling that endorphin high, instead of being so tired afterward! Man, I'd forgotten how good this feeling can be.
But, I am sitting here all hot and sweaty at my desk at work, and that's not a good thing. Guess it's time to get my butt back in the gym before work, like I used to.
Food has been pretty good - still doing some boredom snacking that I need to get out of, but otherwise have been clean.
Hope you all have a great weekend - I'm off to "camp", which is my BF's cabin on a lake. Should be challenging - lots of goodies there for the niece and nephew that I will have to try to avoid.
08-26-2005, 05:50 PM
Today was upper body. I actually got into lateral raises a little more. They're very difficult for me even with only 5 lbs. I think I finally have the feel of squeezing my triceps during kickbacks too. So I guess that's progress :)
08-26-2005, 09:25 PM
So sorry I haven't been able to post much this week. :^:
It has been the week from **** at work, and here at my little house. :dizzy: Between now and Oct. 1, work will be at least 5 if not 6 days a week as I prepare for our Fall Boat Show. The battery on my car died, and then I had to go out and buy a new lawn mower because I put too much oil in the old one, and DH won't be here until next week to fix it. The grass can't wait. Then I got word that an Aunt in Chicago passed away, so I was bummed because although I haven't seen my extended family in Chicago for over 10 years, I felt like I lost a piece of my history. Oh yeah, and my boss talked me into starting a small business here at home from which he could benefit, of course, but it holds favor for me in the long run. :tired:
I see everyone is doing well this week. :strong: :cp: Bravo!
I've been eating clean, and chalked down another 2# but my cardio is slacking (time). I did do some lifting - we keep db's at work so when I get off my big can to destress, I'll go and lift. A Fitness Center is in the planning stage at the resort, but I can't see it being completed for at least a year. When the slip renters were polled for a preference, they voted for another restaurant! :faint:
Tikster! Good to see you! and glad you're still leading the cheer squad. That's gotta be so much fun, and exercise too! Cool beans! The boat is still afloat, but now that I live down here, I spend less time on it then I did last season. DH comes down once a month for 4 or 5 days and vacations. July & August are hotter than  and traditionally not very good for sailing. We do spend social time with the sailing club, and have been going out on other's (bigger) boats. I work at a resort/marina, in yacht sales, so when I get home after work, I don't want to see a boat! mine or anyone else's  Really though, I'm just too pooped at night to go sit on mine, and like I said, it's been really hot. But Fall is coming! Great sailing weather!
I've been getting in bed at 9, and try to be asleep by 10 to get up at 4:30 too so I can treadmill before work. It does give me more energy for the day, and I don't seem to get as hungry in between meals. What takes time in the AM too is fixing my breakfast which is usually eggs. I can't eat oatmeal, even with PP because it just puts me into major carb crave thereafter. I also do my Fitday plan in the AM, print it out and check off what I eat. When I'm done, I'm done. If I have to have something in the evening, it's green tea and more water.
Hey Cindy! Hope you have a great weekend at "camp." Details! We need details about the BF! I put my weight back on in the same places too, more my butt and belly because I went from leisurely working out housewife back to working-sitting all day behind a computer grunt. I tried to work out and eat clean on my own but couldn't stick to it because I had no real support. I knew in my heart that I had to come back to what works - my LWL buds. It took me about a week and a half of clean eats and intense exercise to gain back "that feeling" and the endorphins kicking in, and man oh man, - there is nothing that tastes as good as that feels. The lowest I got down to was 174 so I set my tracker to 170 for kicks and giggles. It will be fun forcing that tracker down. Oh yeah, back into a size 18. I can't get into any of the pants/capris I wore last summer. But I will be a 12 next season, I swear! Luckily, I only had to buy a few pairs of capris because we have to wear company issue shirts from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
I better close before I crash again - it's getting so annoying! I'll try to post from work tomorrow, or Sunday. Yes, I have to work this Sunday and probably every Sunday until October. It's the nature of the business - weekend boaters = weekend buyers!
HI TO ALL! and I hope you have a great weekend! Stay safe and healthy!

Workouts are going well, food is clean and weight is not moving. I am now wearing size 2 jeans, so shape is still changing. I have been here before, and I know I am doing everything right, so, soon enough the scale will catch up.
HUGE typo, and I am sorry. I meant size "12" jeans, not size "2" - never even in my dreams.
I just finished reading "Apples and Pears" by Dr Marie Savard with Carol Svec. I highly recommend this book to every woman struggling with her weight or health - not only are women different from men, we are even different from each other. I now realize I am a pear who changed to an apple due to stress and anger and depression. I lost most of my weight following the diet she has suggested for "apples" and have naturally gravitated towards more of a "pear" eating plan as my body has changed. And here I thought it was due to the marathon training - who knew it was truly giving my body what it wants.
Oh, Tiki, I feel for you. I wish we could reach these young women andtell them the female shape is beautiful and shouldbe cherished and we are naturally designed to have hips and thighs. If I had known that at 11 I wonder where I would be now - TV and magazines certainly don't help. How do we reach our children? Look into a program called "Girls on the Run", helping 8 - 12 year olds run a 5K - maybe "we" could start something similar and include our "Teens Only" chicks - something like "the never fat chicklets". Hmmm - I am sensing I have a little passion (OK, anger, frustration) developing in this area.
Off for my 16 -18 miles this morning.

:lol3: Ellen! I do admit to thinking you had made really astounding progress!
If I had known that at 11 I wonder where I would be now - TV and magazines certainly don't help.
Isn't that the truth? I remember the years between 12 and 16 reading 17 magazine which must have had Twiggy on the cover of every issue. Looking back at my pictures, I looked perfectly normal (even thin compared to today's teens), but sure didn't feel it. Even my doctor at the time thought I was overweight and prescribed amphetimines and running. I think I weighed 113 and was 5'3".
Tiki, I feel for you too. One of the things that saved my daughter from body image problems was/is being so athletic, and having athletic friends. They all lifted, had muscular legs, knew that their shape would change depending on the season. Does she cheer year round? If not, maybe you can explain the muscleloss-gain cycle to her, or find another activity that will lean her a bit without sacrificing strength and endurance. Short distance runs, like Ellen suggested?
Gotta go, morning clients...

Good evening, LWL!
Had to check in before hitting the sack. Did my cardio hard before work this morning and ate clean. Hectic day at work, and came home and mowed and worked on the new home business. I's tired! No time to lift, but I should be home from work tomorrow by 2PM and will get some in then. Also hope to take a walk down to the lake/boat for some reflection and quiet thoughts time in the evening if it's not too hot - we'll see.
Have a peaceful Sunday all!

A quick post at the end of the week. Thanks, Tiki, Sandy and Dip, for letting me know about your sleep/morning exercise routines. I'm in the development phase but I'm having to take it carefully because of this wretched 'it's not glandular fever/mono but it might as well be' virus. I need even more sleep than usual!
VERY BIG HUGS to you, Tiki, and your gorgeous daughter. Other people have made some good suggestions. I can only suggest to keep talking around the subject (changes during puberty, media pressure, sports options, etc, etc). Airing the subject surely has to be better than stewing on it in private.
