I guess this should be a Wed woe but...I had the day from  yesterday! Let's see, broke my reading glasses as I walked into the commissary so I couldn't read anything, ask for plastic and they bagged up everything in paper, though the checkout clerk told the bagger, I heard her. When I am alone, I only like plastic because it has handles and I can carry more than one bag. I made them rebag, though the checkout clerk and myself helped and the bagger still got a tip everyone can make mistakes, got home had to drag it all in and put it away in the heat, then started a pan of water to make rotini for pasta salad for my sil's bday cookout today. I had taken off my brand new outfit to fix the stuff, but I finished and redressed because I was going to have to go get Jack. I put the chip dip container on top of the pasta Tupperware bowl (for you oldies, you may know what the big fix and mix bowl is and that is what it was in) and when I put it in the fridge, the dip container slid, the whole thing fell out of the fridge bounced on the floor, the lid came off the tupperware and yes, you guessed it oily pasta salad all over, which I slipped in and fell, messing up my Clark sandals and putting Italian dressing all over my new outfit. I just cried! Took me half an hour to clean everything up as I had to clean it up, mop the floor 4 times to get up the slippery oil, gather up all the kitchen towels I grabbed when I fell so I could crawl out of the mess! I rushed around to the laundry room and sprayed my suit with Shout and let it sit while I took another shower to wash off the dressing. Came down and put it in the washer then when it was finished, re-washed it in dish soap (HINT HERE: DISH SOAP WILL CUT THE OIL IN CLOTHES) In the meantime, Fortune had thrown up all over the recliner and pooed on the floor in the dining room! SIGH.....The only good thing is I guess all that swimming has helped strengthen my bad knee because it didn't dislocate when I slipped and fell and it always has before. Hopefully, today will be better!

Everyone have a good weekend!

Faye ;)

SUNDAY: Today is Silly Poll Sunday and our silly poll this week is do you have a product or company that you refuse to use and why?

Faye :bravo:

We went to dd's for sil's bday yesterday and I got to see T for the first time in 2 months. I do miss him a lot but it is what it is. He was so funny. He is getting to be so grown up. He was playing this complicated video game called Rachet and Clank and he loves for me to sit and watch and he explains everything as he is playing. Gave me a headache just to see how he manuevered in and out of the planets and gadgets and weapons and everything! It amazes me because my dd said he taught himself how to play the game and he can't read yet!

I guess I am going to clean downstairs today after I get back from the pool and put a roast in the oven for dinner. It is really hot here again so you don't want to go outside and do anything even to walk around outside.

Well girls, not much news here! Have a great day today.

Faye :)

Hi all,

Yay! I got my first 4 point day of the week yesterday - it felt good to be back on track! I say 'felt' because I've already blown it today as I've eaten chocolate cake! :o Oh well, it was pretty yummy and I'll be back OP for good tomorrow.

I'm in the middle of clearing out my wardrobe and cupboards to give all my too big clothes to the charity shop. Oh my goodness - I've got nothing left! I've had to get rid of about 10 pairs of trousers because they are far too big for me now - it feels good because I remember when they felt tight, and it is a real visual reminder of how far I have come. It felt a bit scary clearing everything out - in the back of my mind I was thinking 'but what if I put the weight back on?' - but then I thought 'No! I am never going back!' Perhaps I should keep one pair of trousers to remind myself where I was.

All I have left are 3 pairs of trousers (which are all also a bit on the large side, but they are okay with a belt on) and 2 t shirts! I desperately need some new clothes - even my underwear is too big! When I was in the charity shop, I noticed that they stock clothes in larger sizes - I saw a pretty top for 2.50, but I didn't buy it as it looked a bit big, but I'm definately going to keep my eyes open for other stuff.

FAYE - Sorry about your bad day - it is lucky that you didn't injure yourself, like you say, your knee must be getting stronger!

JULIE - Glad you enjoyed your fighting!

SILLY POLL - I boycott L'Oreal because I am against animal testing for cosmetics. I think they may have stopped testing on them now, but years ago they were the only cosmetics company who refused to stop testing and even moved their laboratories to a different country when animal testing was banned. There are so many other great companies that are ethically sound that I refuse to give L'Oreal my money! I also pretty much steer clear of McDonalds and Burger King and would NEVER go near a shop that sold fur.

Have a great day

Love Amanda x

MONDAY: Today is Mission Monday and our mission this week is setting fall goals. It is time to set a goal for fall girls, so let's all decide what we would like to lose between now and December and work towards that goal!

back later girls!

Faye, sorry your day was so bad. I keep a large bottle of Dawn in the laundy. I swear its a better stain remover than anything else I've tried. My Saturday started out great - had my quilting class with Pat Sloan - omg! I thought I won't get much out of it and probably not finish the project since it was folk art and I'm a traditional appliquer...I found a new love - it was freeing not to have all those patterns and almost no prep - throw that fabric on and sew (hand sewing). I worked on it all day yesterday and hated to have to put it aside to come to work. Any way, my friend and I were sewing up a storm with the rest of the class and bang - off goes the electricity. VEPCO says it'll be off for hours since it was a transformer that blew up and so our class is done. You do have to be able to see what you are sewing and I'm too old to just sit near a window and see well enough to sew. At least there was only another hour of class to go so we didn't miss much.

Took Friday off - snowed under when I came in today. You would think I'd been gone a month. At least the boss is leaving today until Labor Day so I should be able to get caught up.

Amanda, Way to Go on the points. I am like you thinking I need to keep my big clothes just "in case." Well, they are going because I'm not allowing myself to get any bigger than I am now. I buy a lot of stuff at thrift shops. Several of the ones here you can get brand new stuff with the tags still on that the stores donate after the sale hasn't gotten rid of it. My quilting friend buys everything except her underwear there and she always looks like she buys expensive stuff - she knows how to find the good stuff and is small - 6 or 8.

08-15-2005, 02:02 PM
My goal for now to December...get down to 150. Now let's see how many ways I can mess that up. ;)

Hi everyone!
I'm here and doing okay. The weekend was a disaster food-wise, but I did manage to get in some exercise.

Not much going on. Have to get an article done, so I should scoot. I just wanted to pop in and say "hi"

Hi all,

Well I just got 1 point yesterday - as you know there was a chocolate cake in the house, so no suprise about what happened to it! I came back from church - which is a good 25 minute walk each way and decided to take a well earned rest day from the gym - I felt really stiff and achy and my body was obviously telling me to have a day off. I had an enjoyable afternoon - just chilling, watching athletics on TV and reading.

Today I went out with my friend - we had a look around the shops and I bought a T-shirt in the sale for 6 (about $10). It is a lovely pale blue and fits beautifully - I'm pleased to add another top to my other two!! My friend bought me ice cream, so that's my calories gone for the day!

My Autumn (sorry Fall! ) Goal - To be in Onederland! I am 228 now, so I'd like to be 199 or less by December - that's 29 lb in just over 3 months so I'd better get working on it NOW!

Have a good evening

Love Amanda x

08-15-2005, 03:54 PM
Afternoon ladies!

Amanda :flow2:

Let's see, my goal for the Autumn..... is 295. I am GOING to get my behind below 300 by December.

Susan/VA: How rotten to lose the rest of your class. I am going to start knitting again when I get back from vacation and try and get some things done for Christmas and for a new baby. I can still hand sew close up as long as I have no contacts or glasses in, but otherwise forget it. I don't do cross-stitch because my hands have a touch of arthritis and they start hurting fairly quickly.

Amanda: Chocolate cake is a killer isn't it? I know I am in BIG trouble in Vegas. They have French pastry shops, Italian pastry shops, the Cheesecake factory and a place called the Chocolate Swan and I bet you can't figure out what THEY sell? Oh well, it is vacation and I plan on thoroughly enjoying it fat calories and all. I am going to hit the pool everyday if I can and walk a lot even if it is indoors.

Julie: Don't work too hard on your article. I am proud you are getting some exercise!

My pool workout was so hard this morning and I have no idea why. I finally gave it up after about 50 minutes as I couldn't seem to get my strokes in a rhythm. I did get all 4 "routines" in though so I guess I am ok. Besides, I cleaned the upstairs today so I got some exercise there too.

Talked to my dil over the weekend. She called me about how high to cook eggs on an electric skillet. I guess my son said, "Call mom, she is the best cook I know." I am just going to have to make him something special when we go up there Thanksgiving, bless his little heart! Maybe some turtle empanadas! She told me she was going with her friend Kelly and her dsis to an auction down the street and my son was going to lay on the couch all day! Though it sounds like Homer Simpson, I have to say the man works 40 hours a week, works out 3 days and does jujitsu 3 days so he deserves his couch time I guess!

I need to skeddaddle! Ok, for all of you oldies who have known me a long time, here is your Faye OCD moment....I packed for vacation yesterday!

PS: I received this in an e-mail from a friend. I am sure they could use our prayers
There's a lady at the church who works with a grandma who found her three very small 3, 18 mos. and 3 mos. grandchildren alone in a hotel room. I guess she had tracked them down somehow, so she needed help. All the nursery workers pitched in and a few others at the church to help. I spent 50 on clothes for each of them and diapers, of course. I guess all she could buy was a carseat for each of them to get them home! They hadn't been changed or fed for 2 days, I guess. Anyway, their names are Daisy, Georgie and Isaac. Please pray for these precious children and even more for their grandma!!!

Faye ;)

Afternoon All, having a crappy day at work today so I will keep this short, just wanted to stop in and say "hi" ... I did thoroughly enjoy all my fair food on Friday and was afraid to weigh myself this morning, I think I am going to give it a few more days

I guess I will set my Christmas Goal at losing 25 pounds between now and the end of the year, that is only about 6 pounds or so a month, so that should be do-able and would put me at about 175 or so ... maybe if I am good I can lose more but who knows ... well hope you all have a great day, I have to work over tonight and I am already tired. :)

08-16-2005, 07:30 AM
TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is dairy. Let's make sure we get our dairy girls through yogurt, cheese and milk. Need it for those bones that are getting older!

back later

Morning everyone!

Since everyone is setting fall goals...I think I will too. For real. I want to be below 200 by the end of the year. That's only 9 freakin' pounds....if I can't manage that, well....maybe I should just be put out to pasture

Up to now, I've been writing in the morning before the kids get up because it's the only time the house is quiet. But I think once school starts in 2 weeks, I'm going to workout before they get up and write after I take them to school. Ben is in 1st grade this year, so I have ALL DAY to do whatever I want! Well, not really, but it's nice to think about.

Amanda--good for you on that 50 mins of walking! That's awesome. The last time I was at a decent weight, I lost a bunch because I was walking to all my college classes. I wasn't "trying" to lose, it just happened. So, anytime you can get some extra walking in is great.

Carrie--Sounds like the fair was a blast. I wait a week after our fair to weigh in.

Susan/va--sorry about the quilt least the power didn't go out in the beginning. I love hand sewing!

Faye--GO unpack your bags you'll have something to do today. You're such a goof.

Gotta scoot....everyone have a great day!

Good morning, ladies! I'm about cooked now it's been so hot...roasted Susan for dinner! My boss had me call the consultant yesterday and set a time for him to come down from New Jersey so we can start the database upgrade. The last time we did that, 7 years ago, it was 2 years of pure **** and the boss sent me to Disney World for 2 weeks to recover. Now he wants to do one last upgrade before I retire....and I'm a stress eater...guess I better get a list of alternative things to do made up now.

Hi all,

I got 2 points yesterday - I weighed myself this morning and I am still at 228 - I am SO happy that I've not put on any weight during this last week of eating badly! I know my body is at a stage where my metabolism is high through all the exercise I am doing, so fortunately I can get away with going off track a little now and again. However, I also know that this won't be the case forever and the pounds will start piling on again if I don't get back OP Now! :coach:

FAYE - We will see you under 300lb this year if it kills us! I know you can do it! I will pray for those children - were they abandoned by their mother? I used to be a social worker and you would not believe how some people treat their children.

CARRI - Glad you enjoyed the fair - I agree, don't weigh yourself just yet! (although it's probably not as bad as you think)

JULIE - Yay! Julie has a new goal! When you get into Onederland you will hear me cheering from across the ocean - you deserve it so much!

SUSAN/VA - Hope your boss and database upgrade aren't as stressful as last time! Better start looking at those holiday brochures just in case! ;)

Love Amanda x

WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's Woes so let's get all those nasty gripes out of our system!

Amanda: :dancer:
Faye :dancer:

I will do individual replies later. I have to run and get things ready to take Jack to work this morning.

Faye :)

08-17-2005, 11:01 AM
Amanda: I don't have info on the children except they had been left in the hotel room unfed and unchanged for 2 days. I don't know what the circumstances were they came to be there nor how the grandma found out about it. Keep working hard as I know you are going to get to your goal next year, I just feel it. As for me, Jack and I made a pact we would go back to eating correctly together right after we get home from vacation. He has put on lbs too and doesn't want to go to the cardiologist in November having gained almost 20 lbs back since last year.

Susan/VA: Keeping our fingers crossed that your upgrade will be a breeze this time. I went through many of those when I worked at the law firm and it is always a pain to get all the bugs out.

Julie: No pasture for you kiddo. We are going to keep on you and be with you to get those lbs off by Christmas. You can do this and you can get back to where you want to be.

I have errands to run this morning. Got to get a hold mail card from the post office as I do it several days in advance because they always seem to screw it up and it gives me time to fix it. I also have a couple things I want to get at Target.

For those of you exercise trainers who give us the blah blah blah that exercise helps with cramps, GET A LIFE! I was ok before I went out to the pool and now I am cramping again. SIGH! Sooner or later this has GOT TO STOP PERMANENTLY! :(

Have a good day everyone

Faye ;)

08-17-2005, 02:53 PM
Afternoon All ... I am glad it is Weds Woes so that I can complain for a while.
I guess it would be that I binge ate last night for about 30 mins and I have not done that for a long time ... dh went out to mow the yard and I basically lost control and ate and ate and ate, then had pizza for dinner. :( So I do not know what triggered it, but I was very disappointed in myself, especially since dh is doing so well and I am not. But as I have said before today is another day and I am totally OP, so far  ... I am not going to weigh myself for another few days... let some of the water weight go down...

Faye - I cannot believe ( but I can ) that you have packed already, I know you are sooooooooooooooo excited... you know I totally agree with you, no dieting on a vacation, it ruins it somehow ... but you can come back and start anew, both you and Jack...

Julie - I know you can get under 200 by Christmas, heck if you try hard enough you can get under it by October :) I look forward to you being in Onderland with me!! It is nice here, come on over!!

Amanda - Glad that you are holding steady and not gaining weight, it must be from all of your exercise ... now get the food back under control and get those pounds off ... you too can be in Onederland in no time ... I barely got there myself, ha ha

Susan, Scuzin, Nikki, and Marsha - Hope you all have a great day!!!

08-18-2005, 06:31 AM
THURSDAY: Today is time for us Thursday so take some time for you today!

Carri: Just shake the bad stuff off and keep going!

Back later ladies.

Faye :)

08-18-2005, 02:42 PM
Afternoon everyone, hope you are all doing well ... I did have a good day yesterday after all, I was able to stay OP and get right back on program from the binge the night before, so I am feeling better now...I even was able to stay way under calories for the day ( or under my WW points ). I have to get fitted for my sisters wedding in two weeks, so I am anxious about that, especially since my other sister ( who is a year younger than me ) is about the same size as me ( only she is about 3 inches taller ) and I really hope I dont end up having to have the bigger dress  but oh well if I do ... the wedding is on Sept 24th, so hopefully I do not lose too much weight between being fitted and when I have to wear it... I cannot possibly lose enough in one month to make it look to big anyhow.

Faye - Thanks for the encouraging words, how you doing program wise? You have had such good losses lately. :)

Hi to everyone, I am going to get back to work... I am so over this job this week, I have had to work over every night this week and I will have to work Saturday as well... the only plus is that I will have about an extra $200 on my next check so maybe I can do some badly need clothes shopping.

See ya!

08-19-2005, 06:48 AM
FRIDAY: Today is Fabulous Friday Follies and our folly ? for this week is, what is the screwiest diet you ever tried to lose weight on?

Carri: You are going to look so beautiful for you sister's wedding. I bet you are excited. I was only 11 when my older sister got married in a tiny wedding the first time and lived far away the second and my younger sister got married the August of the year after I did and I was 6 hugely months pregnant (Jay ended up being 10 lbs and 22 inches long so I looked like a whale) so I didn't get to be in either wedding nor my brother's, but my dd was a flower girl in my brother's wedding. Thinking about my sister's wedding and how big I was... they only have one picture of me hiding behind their car because I refused to be photographed. I had this cute pink dress I bought at Motherhood Maternity with money I couldn't afford to spend (they didn't have the Walmarts and Targets they do now and you had to buy at maternity places for the most part. ) Anyway, the dress came to my knees in back and my mid thighs in front because I was so big. It is funny to think about now, but I was sure miserable back then. The only thing I can say is I got a beautiful little (definitely not so little anymore) boy out of it 32 years ago! Hope you have fun with all the preparations. I am hanging steady with the weight loss since I had TOM and have been miserable for several days. I just want to try and at least stay where I am before we go and not eat a bunch of junk and I have been ok in that way.

Well, we are officially under a week now. Jack's last day of work this week so he can relax when he gets home tonight for the weekend. We are going to T's soccer practice Sat morning and Mon night so that will take up some time and I need to clean the house before we go and get everything for the cat ready, get the dog to the pet resort, etc etc. It will keep me busy along with my last few pool workouts. I come back and it is back to walking until Memorial Day next year again, but that's ok. When it cools down, I think I will neighborhood walk then do treadmill work when it gets too cool or bad weather out to walk outside. A lot of ladies walk their dogs around the same time every morning here so I might do it with them.

I need to go. Have a good weekend everyone if I don't get back in here today

Faye :)

hello lovely ladies,

I got 4 points yesterday - I'm gradually reining in my eating at last! Nigel is in the kitchen now cooking my tea so all is well with the world!

I went for a swim yesterday as it was so hot, it was my first swim in a month and I found it such hard work! Whoever said swimming was an easy option was lying! I did 22 lengths but it was a struggle as I just couldn't get into a proper rhythm so I was not swimming 'effiiciently' and therefore wasting energy. Boy, was I aching afterwards - but it certainly tightened everything up! There is definately no other exercise that works your whole body like that!

CARRI - Good for you for getting straight back OP after your binge - it's great that you can do that now, rather than slipping into days of bad eating. We all go off track now and again and the key to our success is getting straight back OP before any lasting damage is done. I agree, you will look lovely at the wedding - you've come such a long way!

FAYE - I'm glad you are looking forward to Vegas - not long now!

Must fly, dinner is served!

Love Amanda x

SATURDAY: Today is Sunny Thoughts Saturday so share your sunny thoughts with us!

Amanda: :bravo:

Amanda you are doing such a terrific job. Keep up the good work! I wish I had the pool available all year long I love it that much. No stress on my knees and I can work a lot harder in the pool and for a longer time than on the ground. Ahh, well, it will be there next year!

Everyone have a great weekend. I am going to be pretty busy up until the time we leave so I may only get in here once a day to set things up. I apologize, but there is so darn much to do and fit in 2 soccer practices besides!

Faye :)

08-20-2005, 04:53 PM
HI ALL ... well I really do not have any sunny thoughts to share today since I am soooooooooooo tired ... I had to get up at 6:15am this morning to be at work by 7:00, normally I do not ever have to work Saturdays and it does not help that I was out late at a bar watching my dh's band ... so I am really tired and in need of a nap, thank God I only work until 3:00 so I only have a few more mins ... right now Faye is thinking is 6:15 early? I see you posted at 5 something this morning, huh?

Well I guess I do have a sunny thought because tonight a cold front is coming through here and we will have a high of the upper 70's , woo hoo ... so sick of these 90's ... I think it is supposed to stay in the upper 70's and lower 80's for a few days so that will be nice...

Well just wanted to pop in and say "hi", I have been staying OP but not exercising, Amanda you need to whip my butt into shape

have a great weekend all, I am off Monday so I am pretty happy about that!!

08-20-2005, 10:34 PM
Hi, guys. Back home, after our week at the lake. A great time was had by all, but, of course, that means I feel it on my body. I will not get discouraged, though, and plan to get right back on track. Exhausted tonight, but need to get back here for some support from you guys. Talk to you all tomorrow.

08-21-2005, 08:36 AM
SUNDAY: Today is Silly Poll Sunday and our silly poll this week is: Since we have had silly polls on where you would go on a trip or vacation or your favorite spot, let's change it, where would you not go on a trip even if someone paid for it?

Carri: Poor sweety working on the weekend! Hope your dh's band did well. I don't think you have ever told us he was in a band! What kind of music do they do? That's kind of exciting! My son used to be in a band several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He is still a huge concert goer when he has the time and he has a good friend that plays piano at a lounge at the Bellagio in Las Vegas! We hope to see him while we are there.

Marsha: Glad you had such a very good time! You come back and I take off!

This is the last topic day ladies until after Labor Day. I really have tons and tons to do including trying to get the house cleaned before we go, take care of both pets, finish packing and getting the house ready to be left alone so to speak. I have four lists I am working off of to make sure everything comes out ok. We have confirmed hotel, airline, prepaid the car, and confirmed prepaid parking for our car. There is a lot of stuff needing to be done Mon-Wed because we have to leave home no later than 3:30 AM on Thur morning! So, I will probably only get in here to set up once a day.

Have a good Sunday, guys!

Silly poll: No middle east trips anywhere, anywhere in Africa, or Russia. In the states, I have no interest in going anywhere hiking or camping is involved as I hate "roughing" it!

Hi all,

I got 2 points yesterday. I had a great workout at the gym today - I RAN for the first time! I've been feeling like I'd like to try to run on the treadmill for a while now - but I've been worried that I'll make a fool of myself or something, but today the gym was pretty quiet so I just gave it a go! I managed a gentle run for 4 minutes, then slowed to a walk and then ran again for 2 minutes - then the stitch got me! I know it's not much, but I feel so great! It's just breaking down those myths of what I can and can't do - and it's really boosted my confidence! I think I'll ache a bit tomorrow - I can really feel it in my sides and abs.

CARRI - Sorry you had to work on the weekend - I hope you are being paid lots of overtime!

FAYE - I'm sure you'll get everything sorted ready for your trip - how are we going to manage without you?

MARSHA - Glad you enjoyed your holiday - don't worry about those pounds, we'll get them off in no time!

Love Amanda x

Morning ladies! Just a quick pop in before Jack goes to work then I need to get upstairs and start cleaning before I go to the pool. Hope you all had a great weekend. We stayed in except for T's practice as it is horribly horribly hot here. The heat index was 108 yesterday!

Amanda: I cannot even express to you how proud I am of where you were a year ago and where you are today. You have made your weight loss a big priority in your life and you have worked to achieve your goals, no excuses! RUNNING! That is wonderful!

Well, need to fix that hubby of mine some breakfast so TTFN

Hi everyone!

Been on vacation since last Thursday...went Camping at Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. I always forget how much I love the ocean....that's where I always hoped we'd live when we moved to Maine, but that's not where the jobs are. And we can't afford a 3 million dollar run down piece o' crap house anyway. Seriously, Maine is nothing but a millionaires' playground these days.

I took the kids swimming at a pool right before we left and thought about I decided to swim some laps. OMG!!! I had no idea how much muscle I'd lost in my upper body since I quit fighting last Sept!!!! Holy Crap! It was a struggle just to do 10 laps...........

Needless to say, I'm finally motivated to start exercising again. I can't believe how hard that little bit of swimming was. I used to be a lifeguard and swam all the time. So, I was thinking about starting phase one of South Beach again....but the thought of all that meat just makes my tummy hurt. So, I'm going to go back to counting calories and still keeping away from the bread and pasta and sugar. It worked before. DH is doing awesome on SB, but it's really hard for me. I eat way more fat than I should because I'm over compensating for no grains or messes me up big time. Exercise is the key for me, anyway. I eat well, but my metabolism is for crap right now.

I ate freely during the camping trip, smores and all (though I only had 1 a night...) I'm up a few pounds, but I'm ready to really really get these last 50 pounds off my body! I'm so glad I have you gals to lean on, because I'm not really sure if I can do it.

Carrie, you're doing great! Don't let one little breakdown spoil your momentum.

Amanda--HOLY CRAP WOMAN!! Your're RUNNING???

Marsha--welcome back....fall is a great time to pull yourself together and get things accomplished.

Faye--enjoy those last few days at the pool....

Everyone else have a great day!

Morning to all. It is chilly as I sit here this AM - feels like fall in the air already. Thanks for the welcome back, gals. Just the boost I needed to get going again. Sounds like there are a few of us in the same spot - ready to get serious here.

Amanda - Applause for you!! I have always hated running, even back in the thin days, so I really admire people who can do it!

Julie - glad you enjoyed your vacation, too. I am still not caught up with the laundry and unpacking!

Faye - it's almost your time to go!! How will you even sleep these last few nights? ENjoy it all!

Have to get some things done here this am, then off to school. Need to get those Welcome back letters out to my class. Still can't get in our rooms to work, which is frustrating, but beyond my control, so I will try not to fret about it.

Hello to Carri, and the Susan's. Have a great day, everyone!

I actually got my upstairs cleaned (downstairs slated for tomorrow), my hair colored and my toenails painted, though let me tell you a fat woman trying to paint her toenails makes them look like a blind person with no hands did them! Actually, a blind person with no hands would probably do a better job than I did. Too much tummy to get to those toes! Anyway, they look ok! So, I have a couple minutes while I am waiting for my lunch to warm up so I thought I would peek back in.

Julie: Sounds like you had fun and I can attest to the fact that swimming can poop you out. I started the season at 15 minutes this year and thought I will never work up to an hour and can do about 90 minutes without being totally pooped, but keep it an an hour or so. I only did 45 today as I wanted to get started on the house. Like I said before, it is incredibly hot here (almost 90 already) and so I have to get the upstairs done very early or it is too hot to do so just cut the routine short today. I think SB works so well for men because they use their cals different than we use ours so all that meat seems to full instead of "fat" them! I know you can get to that skinny self of yours by the end of the year!

Marsha: I never asked, did your dad enjoy his little vacation away from your mom? How is she doing btw? I think about all of you with sick spouses, parents etc and pray for you guys a lot. I know how hard it must be to deal with a sick parent. I have an online friend who is a teacher in Iowa and her principal is a royal pain in the patooty I hear so I understand all about dealing with beginning school problems. I on the other hand just had to buy $61 worth of CRAP for my grandson's PTA fundraiser so he can get a racing pig, whatever the heck that is! They do #'s of items sold not total $$$ and he wants the pig thing. He will also get to be part of a party, something else and a limo ride to the Hard Rock Cafe though I don't know if it is just a zip downtown and back or do they get to go in and have a sundae or something. Can't see kindergartners being impressed by Little Richard's lime green suit, etc! Funny thing is our Hard Rock doesn't have much Elvis stuff at all. Of course, Hard Rock is doing a mobile home tour of the country with Elvi stuff so I guess maybe that is why. And, YES, we are going nuts waiting to leave! Jack has to work today and tomorrow and from 7-9 AM on Wed then he is done for 12 days. Unfortunately, it is so hot doing the work they have to do this week that he doesn't even eat lunch just drinks water all day. One of the buildings is underground and you would think it would be cool but the temps are like 140 in the summer and worse with as hot as it has been and of course they have been having a problem down there with something.

I actually finished up one of my lists and have everything on it crossed off! So much of the stuff has to wait until Wed like taking the dog to the kennel and fixing the litter boxes, food etc for the kitty (dd is going to check on him for me, thank goodness) Anyway, you guys don't want to be bored with all my vacation ramblings. I need to go and get showered. We have another soccer practice (oh joy) this afternoon so I have to find something very very cool to wear. I got sunburned on Sat though not badly but I think I am going to take an umbrellas today to sit under like my sil's mother does.

Everyone have a spectacular day and I will talk to you tomorrow

Faye :)

Hi gals,

I got 2 points yesterday - although I was more or less OP with my eating, only about 100 cals over (which considering how I've been over the past couple of weeks is not bad at all! ). I'm not as achy as I thought I would be after my run in with running! Still, I decided to have a rest day from the gym today - basically because I got up late and missed my cycle class, then had stuff to do this afternoon.

I'm going away Thurs - Sun to visit my family and am not looking forward to 4 days away from my gym routine! Actually, my muscles seem to be constantly aching, particularly my legs, so a 4 day break may actually do me some good. I'll try to get some walking in too.

JULIE - Yay Julie! :cheer: - you sound like you are really getting back into a losing weight mentality! Yes, I agree with you about swimming (see my post a few days ago) - it's blooming hard work, especially if you've not done it for a while. I think calorie counting is great - it's thanks to calorie counting that I've finally started shifting significant amounts of weight.

MARSHA - Sounds like it's straight back to work for you!

FAYE - I hear you about the toenail thing! It was something I noticed when I got over 240 lb - suddenly cutting or painting my toenails became REALLY hard. Thankfully now it is becoming a bit easier - it's funny the little ways that our weight can affect our lives isn't it?

THANKS TO YOU ALL for your lovely words of support. I never thought I would get to a stage where I can say I have lost 40lb and have started to run on the treadmill, but here I am and I am discovering new things I can do all the time and it feels great! For so long I have been trapped in this fat body and depressed mind and now I am beginning to emerge out of it like a butterfly out of a chrysalis. It has taken me my whole adult life to get here, and though I still have a long way to go - I know I am only looking forward and not back. So thank you all my friends - you have truly helped me through thick and thin and your support, understanding and unconditional friendship means the world to me. Thank You - you are all great!

Love Amanda x

Good morning girls! I hope you will have a nice day today. We are still having very very hot temps, which makes it pretty miserable to be out. I did take an umbrella to T's practice last night and that helped some, but it was still hot to sit out there for 90 minutes.

Isn't it funny that we can't all be working on this weight loss thing at the same time? Seems like if Amanda is doing well, I am doing lousy, if Carri is going ganbusters, Marsha is having trouble, etc. Once the holiday is over, let's concentrate on all our group having a good strong fall full of OP days and exercise. I would love it if the whole group would make their goal for the fall this year!

Well, day after tomorrow and we take off in the big bird! All I can say is thank goodness we aren't flying Northworst as my husband calls them. They have a hub here in Mempis so you would think we would have better service, but....At least, I hope OUR plane takes off on time. Like I told Jack, all we have to do is get from here to Atlanta, then if the Atlanta to Vegas plane is late, that is ok because we don't have to worry about making anymore connections.

Everyone have a great day today and stay cool!

Faye :)
