Good Monday Morning Everyone!:wave:
Okay, I must first confess to you all about what took place yesterday-
I HIT GOAL!!!!!I HIT GOAL!!!!!I HIT GOAL!!!! I HIT GOAL!!!!
http://members.aol.com/debelli/woo_hoo.jpg
Hey, can you tell I'm excited?!?:spin: Okay, back down to reality. I KNOW I will fluctuate and I will go up, esp. since my TOM is due the end of this week, but just to see those numbers come up yesterday morning-was like heaven! Sorry I didn't mention it yesterday, but I figured, what the heck, this was Monday Morning News!!!
On Sat I hit 130 and when I got on the scale in the evening (yes, I did get on the scale at night) and saw 131, well, I was just praying the next day would be good, and it was! Sunday, I called Eli into the bathroom so I would have a witness to the 129! THEN, I was worried that if the scale went back up Monday morning, I would not be making the announcement-luckily and happily, I am able to make it:)
THANK YOU ALL for helping me reach this goal! Without you, I know I wouldn't of been able to achieve this. This board and all of you on it has been a godsend and you are all angels:angel: in my eyes! I hope and pray to be able to celebrate with all of you as each one of you reaches your goal. It's worth every effort to stick with this WOE, it does work!:)
I'm not DONE yet. I want to lose another 5lbs to get to 124 now-a cushion so to speak. Whenever, or should I say, if ever, that happens is fine. I may not be able to lose another 5lbs. I will continue eating as I have been and whatever happens, happens. I've reached my intended goal weight and that's the number I aim to stay at.
FYI, it's been 1 year, 2 months and 18 days for me to reach goal-boy, did it go fast!!!!!
It's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY and here's my contribution:
Is it really all that difficult to let go of your resentment, to calm your anger, to move beyond your disappointment? It's only as difficult as you think it is. Is it really so difficult to focus your thoughts and to act with discipline? It's only as difficult as you think it is.
Is it really so difficult to persist, even when the obstacles are powerful and the going is rough? Is it really so difficult to bring yourself to get back up when you've been solidly knocked down? It is only as difficult as you think it is.
The attitudes and efforts which lead to success and accomplishment are difficult only when you decide to make them so. Consider what would happen if you were to think of them as natural, desirable and easily within your reach.
Rather than fighting against a positive, productive life by imagining it to be difficult, move into that life by imagining it to be completely right for you. Success is not as difficult as you might imagine. It is yours to achieve as soon as you go ahead and accept that you can, and you will.
-- Ralph Marston

NANCE, you don't know how I wanted to tell you yesterday that I hit goal! You get the boobie prize as you were the only one who noticed I hadn't posted my stats in 2 days. Again, thanks for the chat yesterday:)
Okay, as you can see, it's early for me, so I am going to get ready and celebrate with an early morning walk. I'll check in with you all later this morning. Have no great plans, kids get out of school early all this week, so not much time to get things done before picking them up.
Please remember TOMORROW IS TUESDAY TIPS so if you have any good tips that you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow. And another reminder that TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!! Hope you all can make it!
Have a wonderful week!

We are all so happy for you. Now another journey begins, but such a good one for you. We are doing the happy dance with you.
BTW, does the sponge cake serve 10 regular servings. I'm having a party July 4 for my daughter, who is quitting smoking on that day. We are calling it "Independence Day!" in honor of the national holiday and also because it is the day of her independence from the evil weed. I'm making T-shirts; we will have good food; she can invite her friends; we will watch the movie "independence day" and we will set off some legal fireworks. I'm thinking of using the cake as a base for either strawberry or peach shortcake. Since I haven't made it yet, is it tall, like an angel food cake, or is it just about 2" tall, like the sponge cakes I've seen? Do you think it will work well in shortcake? Any suggestions for a menu?
I hope UF girl finds her way over here.
It will be great to have TWO fans of the greatest school around.
Big Orange, will you be able to stand it!?
Also, the 3FC board was listed in Forbes "Best of the Web" as one of the best web sites for nutrition and diet. It was not listed as the TOP site, but one of the best. They suggested about 6. They said that the worst thing about the site was that Amy (one of the fat chicks) was no longer journaling!!
Talking about 3FC, what are we gonna do about this site? I would hate for 3FC to close down because they couldn't afford it. I'm not surprised that the donations dropped off. It might be something that they should consider-that this would be a subscription only website. Probably would lose a few people with that. We are so used to web pages being "free". But if every single user, with all those WW boards under 3FC, subscribing to $3 or so per month, I, for one, could certainly handle that!!!
Have a great day everyone. I usually weigh in on Mondays. I've been counting calories on Fitday for 10 days now and have not dropped an ounce. Been SB legal and very faithful. Hmmmm.

CONGraTULATIONS DEBS!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
That is sooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!! You must been doing the happy dance all over the house! WOW!!!DOUBLE WOW
You are the bomb!!!! I'm so proud of you!!! I'm surprised you didn't posted how many hours along with the year, months and days!!! Now you will be really psyched to get to your new mimi-goal! You should post your worst before picture and difiantely post your after picture for all us to worship each morning so we can chant that change is possible! You are living proof of that!
Sef-
Have you every seen the four part series "A Year in Provence", Inspector Morse plays the lead! It's one of my all time favorite books and they made it into a movie! Maybe we can figure out a recipe for SB Scones with SF Devonshire cream and plan a TEA!
Wouldn't that be nice!
Quilter
If we lived next door to each other you'd be borrowing from the movie collection. I have just about every Jane Austen film! Yes, I saw Pride and Prejudice! My Mom taped it and we watched it over and over....Yes, Mr. Darcy is a doll. Do you know that Colin Firth is in the Bridget Jones Diary??? Another favorite film, another one of Janes, is Sense and Sensibility. Have that too! I think my favorite is Emma (love that one with Gwenth) and the PBS version with the herion in brown hair...did you see that one?
Cat
All I can say is I'm with you girlfriend, but the best thing to do is "JUST DO IT". I hate to get up and exercise, but I always feel better when I do, and I especially enjoy going for walks...being outside with nature gives you a sense of peace in an otherwise crazy world. I especially like to go early in the morning, when I feel like I have everything to myself!
BOB
What year did you have your surgery? Can I ask what you weighed before you had the surgery performed? How much weight have you lost on SB? There is a book that my sister was telling me about, with no mention of any one particular diet, but the first portion of the book is about people who lost a significant amount of weight and have kept it off for 5+ years. It's called "Eating thin for Life" by An Fletcher, M.S., R.D. She has two books out that I saw when I was at Barnes and Nobles yesterday. My sister said there is some really good info. in the book.
Solshine
What have you been up to?????
Well, I guess I caught that life preserver and am not floating down stream. I stayed OP yesterday! Must have made up for the other 1/2 can of chick peas that Debbie didn't eat though because I had to chew 2, not one, gas-x, to get things mildly under control...don't know what I ate that caused such problems.
I figured the only thing safe was to drink more water and flush it out! I'm so happy this is going to be a short work week for me. I am taking off Friday and Monday...my oldest sister from No. Cal is coming to town (we only see each other about 2 times a year) and the rest of my brothers and other sister are also coming down. Should be loads of fun!
Well time to get ready for work!

Row, row your boat gently down the street,
Sadly, sadly, sadly life is not a treat!
Before I read the Board I thought I'd let you know how we are faring. We are very lucky here, we live on high ground! 22' above sea level!
Don't know what you have seen on TV, but Slidell and environs have been deluged the last week. We had about 12-13" and just received 7-8" more!
The pool has overflowed several times. We have been up most of the night. The pool was under a few inches of water, as well as the back yard. Kevin pumped the pool and that helped a little. He turned off the
spa, AC and pump. Dug a trench through the side flower bed. Opened the gate. Dug under the side windows. Although we are not awash in the house the water did seep in so the rug at the side wall is wet.
Slidell is flooded. Kevin couldn't get to work. Nor can Lori, the office is under water. Gause Blvd. is flooded. If caught there is a $500 fine for driving fast through lesser flooded areas and the wash from the cars can do damage.
The rain is supposed to let up this afternoon. There has been tornado touchdowns in MS.
Only last week the Gov was asking people to pray for rain. A lot of prayers must have gone up and been answered individually. Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.
So we are all safe here with minor damage. But some poor souls have really been hit, with their houses awash and belongings lost.
We are surrounded by wayer and can not leave our development.

NANCE - Is that the one where Robert Shaw plays a priest? I saw that one but can't remember the title. Just know it was good! Robert Shaw can put his shoes under my bed anytime!!!!
Now that scone idea sounds a worthy challenge! I'll have to put on my Chef's Thinking Hat and see what we can come up with! It'll be after we dry out here. We are stranded.
Glad you caught the life preserver! Maybe you should toss it back this way and I could use it for real!
Have a good time with your family!

WAY TO GO, DEB!!!! HAPPY DANCE!!!!
I agree with NANCEMEISTER! We want pictures! That would be so motivating to see the results of your tenacious diligence to follow this WOE and exercising. You truly are an inspiration!!
KAREN - Don't know how valid the information is, but I read somewhere that the body's need for protein is often manifested by a craving for chocolate. I have tried to eat protein or have a protein shake when I get the chocolate cravings and have found that MOST of the time it satisfies the craving. Now, sometimes, ya just GOTTA have some chocolate - SB legal, of course! :lol: We go whitewater rafting on the Chatooga and the Ocoee and stay at an adorable B&B in Ducktown, TN. I don't think you could go wrong anywhere in TN. I hope your son knows he has to get a job in TN when he graduates. :)
DEBBIE - I can see where they get the name MONSTRA for that fruit! It is freaky looking.
SEF - I hope the water goes down quickly! You LA and TX gals are in my prayers. We don't want ALL that water, but sure could use more of it for these forest fires in the Orlando area (ok, my yard could use some of it, too). :D Your mahi-mahi sounds very tasty! We like simple, too. My favorite is salmon steaks or orange roughy cooked on top of sauteed Vidalia onions. LOL! at your "pick up xxxx on your way home" challenges! I'll bet you're quite the competitor at Boggle. I used to LOVE playing that game when I was growing up.
KIM - That kinda bothers me that he didn't tell you anything. They don't need a coroner to tell them if the person was stabbed, shot, appeared to fall from a heart attack, etc. They don't need a coroner to tell them if they are treating it as a suspicious death. I may be wrong, but it sounds like you were blown off (nicely, but still blown off) and that aggravates me. I would probably go up the ladder and ask to speak to a captain or the chief/sheriff himself and tell him/her that I tried to get information and just need to know what happened so I can feel safe and settle it in my mind. The head honchos are politicians and have to keep the public happy to keep their jobs. They tend to be a little more eager to take care of the citizens sometimes. I used to be intimidated by police officers, but being married to one, they are real people and they have good days and bad days just like anyone else. (Funny though, I do get nervous when Vince is driving another vehicle beind me! "Am I driving okay?" "Am I driving too fast?" "Do I run the yellow light or stop?".....) Anyway, I hope you get answers. :) Okay, now I'm jealous!! You have black-eyed susans??? AND lambs ear?? I LOVE THOSE and can't find them down here!! They probably aren't Florida safe plants. I want daisies, too, but can't find them already growing to plant and I haven't been too successful growing from seeds.
NANCE - I wrote down the name of that book. Sounds very motivating to read. Enjoy your short week, but don't forget about us - we'd be going through NANCE withdrawals and that wouldn't be pretty! I LOL'd at Floyd frollicking through the fields with Skeeter. Must be nice to be able to tickle your own belly - even in your dreams. :lol:
BOB - Glad the phone has been ring-free! I thought of you and FILLISE while watching all the horse racing this week-end. Funny, I never really watch that, but knowing that you and FILLESE like it, I didn't turn the channel. Vince was laughing at me cheering for these horses I don't even know. That Jorge was a jockey for 2 races this week-end on very good horses. Those horses are beautiful and I love how you can really see the muscles in their bodies ripple and move as they trot and run.
SPARKLE - What beautiful scenery!! And Martin looks like a mighty fun roomie to have! My best room -mates have been men. The only hassle was one who put on a 1/2 bottle of cologne before going out to the clubs. I could smell him before I could see him! Thanks for sharing the pics with us! MELF, her husband THURMAN, and GATORGAL and I met for lunch. It was great!! 'Course I wish we could all afford to fly over there to meet you - but then we might not make it home.... :)
IDBLOND - Hope you're continuing to heal up nicely and quickly! I'm really glad you have a dentist who takes an interest and is caring enough that you can trust. That makes a big difference. HOOORAY!! about the watch being too big now! That's a great feeling!
ICESKATEFAN - I don't like to drive in the rain either! I have to turn off the radio, scoot the seat up and I keep my face as close to the windshield as I can - like that really helps! :lol: I'm like QUILTER - if the gut says stay home that's what I do. I hope the weather gets better for you LA gals!
CATLOVER - Glad the water is going down in your area. I hope it continues to get better for everyone. I have never thought of cooking my roast with Rotel tomatoes - what an awesome idea!!! I love hot and spicy foods AND I love Rotel tomatoes so it only makes sense that would make a delectible roast!! I listen to books on tape that I check out for free at the local library. I LOVE Robin Cook's books - medical mystery/thrillers and I have a rule that I can only listen to them when I'm walking so it really motivates me to make time to walk (that, and I have to listen to them before they're due back to the library).
RHOO - So glad to see you back!! We miss you when you're not here!!
Well, I watered the yard with sweat on Saturday mowing the yard, weeding around the bushes and planting flowers. I forgot to put on sunscreen and my peaches and cream shoulders got roasted in the sun. (ouch!) I've been doing my tricep exercises to get rid of the double wave and noticed that sweeping the driveway does a good work out on them, too. Vince was working at the hangar on Saturday and while I was putting everything away I heard a helicopter coming near so I stood in the middle of the driveway and lo and behold! Here comes my honey in the helicopter and they circled the house really low a couple of times!! They hovered for a little while (probably laughing at me jumping up and down and waving in the driveway). I felt like a high school teenager getting all giddy because her boyfriend drove by in his car. I'm sure the neighbors are convinced we're criminals or lu lu by now. It made my day.
MELF will be back tomorrow! She may have photos to post, too. I'm a slacker and haven't gotten mine developed yet.
Sorry for the book, y'all. I'll try to be more brief next time.

DEB - You gave us the best news I've had in a long time! I'm so happy for you:dizzy: :spin: :cool: You kept at it until you got there, even though it took you longer than you first thought--and you didn't give up. That will be such an inspiration for each of us!
We are all so very proud of you and your accomplishment!
SEF - Boy, my heart goes out to you and all the people in your area in this tough time. I can't imagine the stress you are under. Hope all the rain goes away and it starts to dry out today!
Happy Birthday Cheri and Frog!!!! Have a wonderful day and hope you get to do lots of fun things!
IDBLOND - hang in there! Sounds like this time around it's a little better for you! Post when you are feeling up to it.
Solshine - Thanks for the info. I like to make shakes but I haven't been out looking for good protein ones. What do you use? If we go to TN our son would have to go also, but he likes it down there too! What a mother hen, huh?
Rhoo - Wow - you keep on truckin' girl! You are doing great! You are also a great inspiration for the rest of us!
Well, this is the first day off of summer vacation for DS and we have a ton of errands to run. We are putting new windows in the entire house, new siding and new roof. Have to get all the financing arranged and the schedules coordinated, yadda, yadda, yadda. Have a great week everyone!

Well Happy Monday to everyone. Happy birthday to all the birthdays this month. Well I have been mostly OP for the last 3 weeks. I have had a few moments of complete breakdown but have dearly paid for it in the bathroom afterwards. On night we had people over for dinner and someone brought chips and dip. I thought I would have just one but I couldnt help myself and planted myself right there. I also on last thurday I didnt have my breakfast and waited way to long to eat lunch and was passing McDonalds and found myself in the drivethru. I planned on getting a chicken shaker but no I had to get a Qtr lb'r w/ cheese and then proceeded to go LARGE. Well I wont be doing that anytime soon LOL. Didn't get any sleep that night.
Deb - I am so happy for you that you hit your goal. What a feeling that must be. I am with the other girls I think before and after pics are in order.
IDBlond - I live in the San Fernando Valley. I would be happy to chat anytime you are online. I am on ICQ, MSN, and AOL. My numbers and screen names are in my bio.
For you TX and LA ladies I hope the water starts to receed soon. I remember when I lived in Houston and when it flooded and it was awful but I have never been in anything like what you are going thru now.
Everyone else hope you havd a wonderful weekend.

Afternoon All!:wave:
Thought I was going to be able to get in another morning post, but Mom's car gave out on her and I had to run to her house and take her to get the part so she could get Old Besty towed to the garage and repaired.
Got in my 4.5 miles today, was happy to get out there, though it was a little later than I had hoped, Michael's ride was a few minutes late, and I get nutsy, so I waited until he left. Anyhow, I did 16 jogs within my walk in 55 1/2 minutes. For some reason my legs just felt like lead today-does anyone else get like that?
Was up really early today-I guess I was excited to see if the scale was going to cooperate today-I was just dying to tell you the good news! I think tomorrow night during chat, we should all do a on cue HAPPY DANCE, not only for me, but for all of us and what we've been able to accomplish so far!!
I hope you don't mind me giving those of you who've congratulated me a collective and heart felt THANK YOU!!!!! :D
SNOOKS, thank you so much for the congrats. The support you get on this board will take you to goal-just stick with us. As for the BIO BOARD, just click on the link below, the rest is self-explanitory:
Thanks for the heads up about your birthday, would hate leaving you out on such an important day!!
GATOR, thanks for the congrats. I know one day I'll be saying the same to you too. I would definitely say you could easily get 10 servings from the sponge cake. Not as tall as an angel food cake, but if you get the eggs whipped pretty good, it's higher than 2". I would think it would be perfect-and besides, once you put the fruit in/on, it will be higher. Suggestions for a menu, from me? The one who hates to cook? Chicken on the bbq, that's where my ideas start/stop:) Sounds like a fun day planned! Not sure what Suzanne plans on doing, but thank goodness, should the site ever go down, I have everyone's e-mail addresses who are active and that are listed on the BIO BOARD!!
NANCE, thanks for the congrats! I expect to be saying the same thing to you in the not-so-distant future!;) Checked the board when I was at Mom's and read her your post, we were laughing. Hmm, how did I forget minutes-I should of know how long because whenever I start a diet, I surely figure out how many hours I was able to stay on it-at least at the first day! I honestly don't have a picture when I started SB, I had been on so many diets in my life that I figured it wouldn't last and I didn't take one-but I do have a WORST PICTURE that those who have met me can tell you that I look like the GOODYEAR BLIMP. I will most definitely take a after picture when I get not only a chance, but a decent hair day-it's like I told you, frizz city this time of year. So, you're not mad that I didn't give you the scoop on the phone yesterday? I was so afraid of putting a kinehora on myself (Jewish word for a curse, explanation is: Kinehora n : A curse in reverse. A colleague says with best intentions; "Looks like you're going to get a promotion, Jack." Kinehora! You quickly cover his mouth, for to utter such a thing is to ensure it will never happen). It's happened before!!!! Thanks for trying to call, even though I wasn't home, just the mere fact that you tried makes my day!!!!{{{HUGS}}} So, Dan had to pull out the gas mask, or was he still away when you were ripping through the house?:lol: Sounds like you and your sister should have a nice long weekend together-any special plans???
SEF, thanks for the congrats! Trust me, I'm not going anywhere, you're all stuck with me! Thank goodness it's not worse in your house than a little carpet on the water, I'm sure the pool is problem enough. Last year when Irene hit, it was on my birthday and we didn't do a thing:(, couldn't get out of the house, streets were so flooded, mailbox pole was under water it was that high in the front of the house-I didn't have a telephone (OR COMPUTER) for 10 days!:eek: Major withdrawls! So, I can sympathize, it's such a mess, but we always have to think of others who have it so much worse and thank our lucky stars when something like this happens that we could be in their place. I hope things dry out quickly for you there.
SOL, thanks for the congrats too. Like I told Nance above, I have to get a picture taken. Most of my life I've run from the camera, I've only really like one picture of me, and that's the Glamour Shots pic I have posted. I'll have Eli take one soon, or darn, maybe I'll just go back to Glamour Shots-problem is, I'm much older now-I may end up hating it!!! Cool that Vince was able to fly overhead-you have me, and proably everyone else curious to what he looks like-time to post a picture!!!!! Hey, don't ever try to be brief!!!!
KAREN, thanks! I know sharing this news with you all is the best thing I have done in a long time and it really made me feel great. It's one thing to finally make goal, but it's another when you have such wonderful support that has helped you get to where you are to share the news with!
RHROO, thanks~I had a huge grin when I was typing it up, knowing I was also able to post it! You're so close, you'll be right behind me in meeting goal-RIGHT?!? I know how it is with your OH being the sabotager-Eli tries it from time to time and doesn't win. Honestly, I'm not telling much of anyone I want to lose a little more-Eli alone is driving me nuts telling me, "you're all skin and bones" & "there's nothing left of you!" In retaliation, I say, "if there's nothing left of me, why are you able to grab a chunk of fat and hold on to it??"
TIGGER, Thanks for the congrats! I can tell you, one of the reasons that I've been able to stay OP this entire time is due to those who have gone off plan being honest with the board in saying so and telling us how sick they get. I get sick enough without cheating, so this has helped keep me in line.
I know someone asked about headaches sorry, I don't remember who. Anyhow, I can tell you that my neighbor kept getting lots of bad headaches and I asked her if she was consuming stuff with aspertame and she said yes. I told her to cut it out and once she did, a few days later, well, it's been months and she hasn't had the headaches any more-she is now a bonafide user of agave nectar in her coffee/drinks!
Time for me to go get Lauren from school-days seems to go so slow when they get out so early!
I'll check in with you all later today/tonight!
Again, thanks to you for all your warm wishes!!!

I am so happy for you Deb!!!! :D
WOW!!!
Now you can lose your scale for a week? PLEASE?
Sorry that I have been absent for a few days. I needed Thursday evening to recover from Ladies' night followed by Carowinds on Friday and miscellany on Saturday and Sunday. Glad to be checking in tonight!
Hubby just came in to give me my birthday present a day early so that I could plan my Tuesday work wardrobe around it. Pretty good for him! It is a beautiful silver bracelet from Tiffany that I have been admiring for several years. He ordered over a month ago after I admired it on a lady at the couple's weekend at the beach. He kept asking me what I wanted for my birthday and I kept saying, "something special that you pick out for me, not what I tell you I want you to go buy." He did great!!!
Friday I went to Carowinds (large amusement park on NC/SC border. I had never been to this one. I had a great time. Rode some C-R-A-Z-Y roller coasters :dizzy: No lines, little heat and humidity! FUN!
SPEWER STORY After I got home hubby was at the neighbors having a cold one on the patio. When I got there our "friend" was there so I took over a birthday gift for her. It was a humerous gift, but after she opened it she said that basically her only dilemma was trying to figure out which house she was going to put it in. :rolleyes: Now the spouse and myself aren't exactly rolling in dough and the hosts for the evening aren't either. Just another example of the tackiness! Oh yeah, and per usual, she got another chance to mention my age again, even though she is older! After that "house thing" I came home and told DH that I had had enough of that! She makes me feel bad about myself and who needs that! I keep remembering Sparkle's quote at the end of her posts! It helps. Check it out if you are unfamiliar with what I am talking about.
I weighed at work today and got to move the "big" weight, which for me means that I am under 150. ;) I just hope I stay that way through WIW. TOM is also coming for my b-day week!
I went to my favorite store - T.J. Maxx yesterday and got some GREAT exercise gear. I am getting in the mindset to hit the ground running. Allergies are so much better this week. Look forward to beginning running (seriously) this week.
DEB - I really enjoyed your article about the benefits of water. I hope that you are able to keep water down, rather than having to barf over it.
NANCE - I saw that you mentioned passion - you :devil: ! Stay on the wagon!!! And no I won't be using the "armpit pic" as my after pic.
ICESKATE - sorry that you have had so much rain. I feel for your crisis!
BOB - I have a WW HOODOO story too! My story is that the person who weighed members was a friend of my mothers and wanted me to be successful, so as I got on the scales (which had the weights hidden from view so that you and the person behind you couldn't see your #'s) she would lie about my actual weight! One week I KNEW I had gained and when she reported a loss I yanked that magnetized screen down and BUSTED her. I was doing a fine job lying to myself. I didn't need to go in there to have the lie perpetuated!
LISA_A_A - I enjoyed looking at your photo album. Your kids are beautiful and smart!
GATORGAL - Thanks for missing me!
SEF - I enjoyed your home imp stories! I also enjoy your approach to life. Please try to stay above ground.
BLOND - Hope that you are feeling well soon!
CATLOVER - Sorry that you have been impacted by the rains as well.
KAREN3000 - Thanks for clearing up the Oprah confusion. That was a good show wasn't it?
QUILTER - Hang in there with your job! Great that you are putting in so much time on the TM!
SPARKLE - FUN pics!
RHROO - Relay for Life is a great cause. How wonderful that it is televised in your community!
LAMAP - Sorry that you are feeling barfy too. You are really maintaining your loss well.
SOL - your husband is one sentimental, romantic guy isn't he? :)
CHERI Happy Birthday!
Well I think that is everyone. I hope you all have a great week.
Peace,
Frog

Evening All:wave:
Quickie before I hit the hay. Long day out with Eli tomorrow, so I probably won't have much time, if any, to post in the morning-though I will be back in time for CHAT TOMORROW NIGHT AT 9:15PM EST! Of course, you all know where I'll be eating lunch tomorrow-can't wait! Carbolite for dessert!:)
VIV e-mailed me, she wanted to let you know she was thinking about you all-here's most of her e-mail:
I wanted to let you know, if you could please post, that I am still down on the internet at work and that is where i get all my 3fc time - please send everyone hugs and let them know as soon as i am back up i will be back on the boards. also, I'm back down to my pre-florida weight of 135 and all it took was a week or so of being totallty OP - not even exercise. amazing!
LDBLOND, thanks for the congrats, and the Snoopy Happy Dance! How are you feeling???
CHERI, to you too, a big ol thanks-have a wonderful birthday tomorrow-just wanted to get one more Happy Birthday in just in case I don't get to do so tomorrow for any reason. What are your plans to celebrate???
BOB, you are too funny! Thanks so much for the congrats!!! Well, I told Eli when I hit goal that I wanted to go to Marco for dinner to celebrate, but that I would make it when I reached my "cushion goal", so I would EXPECT you to come meet us down there!!! So I get to steer the wagons on the right path, huh? Oh boy, are you really sure you want to trust me with those reigns?!?
FROG, thanks for the congrats-I PROMISE, I will lose the scale after next WIW. I just want to see how I do this week since I met goal. I know it will go up due to TOM due this weekend-but I WILL have it hidden from me by one of the kids after that, PROMISE!!:devil: Sounds like you received a pretty bracelet-you'll have to have a picture of yourself wearing it and post it on the board. Glad hubby got a gold star this year! Okay, how many houses does Spewer have? I'm curious just what she's going to give you for your birthday. Speaking of which, just wanted to take another opportunity to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow!:) Hey, and congrats to you for getting the big weight down!!!
Time for bed:yawn: I'll check in with you all sometime tomorrow!

Motivation Monday:
If you would achieve greatness and know success, live
well. Enjoy the sunrise, work hard, speak your truth and
have the courage to share your knowledge, insight and
wisdom with others. Laugh a lot, and play hard. Earn
some money, and save some to pass on to your children.
Sing in the shower, and embarrass your kids by hugging
them in public.
Make a difference. Leave footprints that others will be
proud to follow.
Philip E. Humbert, PhD.
Debelli: Once again, congratulations.:lol: You have worked really hard to reach goal and I think your attitude about the additional 5lbs. is great, whatever happens, happens. Your suppport is forever appreciated.
Gatorgal: I'm with you on losing this site, it would be awful! :?: Continue to be faithful to the plan, it will show if not in weight it will be in inches.
Nance: I'm glad the lasso we used to tie you into the wagon is holding! :smug: Your on plan and I can sense your determination is back. I think Deb's accomplishment is just what you needed to see that it can happen for all of us. Your weekend with your sister sounds delightful. Have a wonderful time.
Sef: I'm glad that you are safe, but hope that the water will discipate soon. At least you still have electricity and can communicate with us! I won't pray for a drought, but I will ask for it to dry up enough for you to get around.
Froglover: Your braclet sounds beautiful. Under 150, you're doing great. Remember the weight that comes at TOM usually drops off if you keep your eating under control.
Catlover: I hope the rains aren't washing you away. May the Lord dry the skies for a few days and let you and Sef have a chance to dry out a little.
I'm feeling better, the dr. thinks he got all of the infected tissue, so now I take my antibiotics and hope this awful taste in my mouth subsides soon. Probably eating too much sf icecream, but find that it soothes my stomach some as the Biaxin can be nasty stuff to the stomach.
Deb what information can I email you to help me figure out my calories, carbs/protien/fat. I really could do it myself, but haven't found a good site to determine what my calories should be. Suggestions?
Beachfan: Glad to know you are getting a chance to check in. We miss you, you know. Speaking of which where's Lisa and Ann?
Hubby rented a movie "Pay it Forward" so I'm headed off for the night. Finally did a 15 min workout this morning, going to do it again tomorrow. I have to remember it's just like my morning shower, it has to be done.
By the way, the "l"dblond, is a little "L" stands for Lara.

Good Evening to all
Deb----WOW, You could go all day with out saying a word--the motivation for the rest of us was just hearing about what you have achieved. Great going, and congrats....
Frog Lover.....Happy Birthday (a few minutes belated) to you.
Cheri....Hoping that you had a great birthday. It is so great to see things are going good. Happy Birthday!!:D
I am so happy for those of you in the South, the water is going down and the weather is moving out. I hope all won't need to much cleaning up. Ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am feeling so much better. I went swimming ( well--floating around with an occasional kick) last night. And today I was able to do my three miles on the treadmill, then again the "swim" for an hour. (Atleast I am moving my limbs move in the water than I would be sitting on my bottom, watching TV.
I am wishing all of you the best of days on Tuesday and all the strength it takes to stay on program.
Keep Smiling.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!:wave:
Was able to get out today at 6:30 to go for my walk. Legs are still feeling heavy for some unknown reason, so I really didn't get but a tad of jogs in, but at least I did the usual 4.5 miles:) I purposely got myself out early so I'd have time to get in a post before we got on our merry way today.
Ia anyone else having trouble with these new pop-up advertising banners? I keep getting script errors and it's driving me batty.
Forgot to give you the latest DADDY UPDATE He got out of the hospital on Sunday and was already driving my Mom nuts by Monday morning-meaning, he's back to normal!!!! They found no damage to his heart whatsoever, thank goodness. Thanks again for all your good wishes for him.
CHERI, I hope you have a wonderful birthday today, please know we'll be celebrating with you in spirit:)
BEACH, glad to have you back and to know you had a good time, though you seem to have come back to what appears to be a very busy schedule. Thanks for the congrats-I was looking forward for you to see that I FINALLY MADE IT I can finally say I am in the same class as you now. Thanks for all your support when the going got tough, being that you've been in the shoes I was walking in, you understood more of what I was feeling. Your support as well as the rest of the gals on the board got me to where I am today, and again, I want to say THANK YOU!
LDBLOND, WONDERFUL Motivational Monday thought! Thanks for sharing it with us:) Glad to hear you are almost "back to normal" with your mouth. That Biaxin makes me sick-hope you don't have that problem! Eat what you are able to, when you are 100%, you'll be able to go back OP full force. Lara, just let me know how active you are, do you exercise? I have your stats on hand, so I can figure pretty much the other stuff out from your stats. Then, it's easy to figure out how much you should be eating. I can tell you, as you get closer to goal, it just takes longer to lose. I figure that it will take me about 10-14 days to lose a pound now, without any other factors weighing in like that TOM that likes to come and mess things up!
LAMAP, thanks for the congrats. You too should be congratulated, look how far you have come-that's no small accomplishment. I know the place you are at, that's the weight I was at my highest 17yrs ago, and I know where you want to get to, you'll get to, it may seem like it will never come, but it will, I can attest to that! Keep up the great work!!!
Okay gals, time to hop in the shower and get ready to go. I'll check in with you all when I get home, and again, don't forget CHAT IS AT 9:15PM EST
And of course, do I have to remind you that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!?! I hope the scales are kind to us all :)
Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Gals! I have my coffee and am ready to post!
Gatorgal
I agree about the sadness if we lost the wes-site. Maybe Debbie can find out where we could do a financial donation? If that would make a difference, I'm there!
Quilter
The only Brittish comedies I remember seeing on t.v. out here was "Faulty Towers"...I hardly watch tv though, so can't say for sure. The cucumber sandwiches sound delicious! I want to make some now! As far as the gardening "zone" out here, it's "CACTUS ZONE" :) Seriously, I forget the number I want to say 13? I'd have to break out one of my books. I just buy whatever says "takes full sun" cause that's what we get 365 days a year!:cool:
Debs
Thank you for all your support. You are definately my mentor! I think Lara is right in saying that by you reaching goal, it has helped motivate me again! I hope I didn't just "
kinehora myself! I too go nuts with those script errors. I thought it was just more bad luck with the computers in our house! I'm still having gaseous-ickeous problems, can't figure out why...seems worse after lunch. THANK GOODNESS I have a private office. You'd see me standing there feverishly waving folders to air things out!:LOL: Dan hasn't evicted me yet, but he did request the other night that I try to "refrain" myself until after he finished his ice cream. Like I have control over the situation! By the way I bought the Bryers Sugar Free ice cream. Boy is it good. Like you said, nothing else to consider! How come you can't have rye bread with "preservatives" on SB???? Glad to hear your Dad is safe and sound and at home!:) The only plans I have with my sisters are ones that my Mom has made. She wants to go to the IMAX theater, with the whole family, and see Cirque du Soliel "Journey of Man"...never mind that I've seen it 3 times, I'll be going again, and enjoying AGAIN! We'll just be swimming, talking, making Starbucks runs, talking, and oh did I mention talking???
BOB
I can see you are taking advantage of Debbie's weight loss celebration to AVOID my questions, but the GNAT is buzzing, and will CONTINUE buzzing until you start talking!!!
:devil:
SEF
Which Jane Austen film did you think Robert Shaw was in? The was a priest in Emma, but that's the only movie I can think of, well heck, let me just go grab the box 2 feet away from me.....nope, doesn't say his name on the box, now you got me wondering! Sorry to hear about all the flooding..what a mess that must be. Glad things are relatively o..k. at your house!
Solshine
When you said "Don't forget about us" I was laughing and felt loved :love: ARE YOU KIDDING...this will be an opportunity to post MORE!! Time off from work, with my favorite bunch of gals....you'll be hearing from me 3 times a day probably! Since you like Robin Cooks books, do you also watch the FBI files and Crime Sceen investigators on TV? One of the morbid shows I like watching! I think my husband was a little bit nervous wondering who he married, but I love when they solve a murder on hardly any clues!
Rhroo
Were is Gardner located? I used to date a guy who lived in Quincy...we had a bi-coastal relationship before I met Dan the Man. I love your state, some beautiful country out there!!! I've been out your way 3-4 times, and loved it everytime, but never was there in the winter!
Tiggerme
I see you are down 6 lbs.! That is awesome! SOrry about I.M. at work, sometimes I jump on line quick, and then I hear the bossman walking towards my office and have to jump ship! Hope you understand!
Frog
Carowinds sounds like lots of fun. I love rollercoasters! Don't let this "Spewer" chick rain on your parade! You KNOW you are a better person and can rise above it. She probably has a real low self-esteem, and therefore needs to put people down in her own special style. She's probably jealous of you!!! Now let's talk about moving the "BIG WEIGHT" on the scale.....That is a HUGE moment! You should be proud girlfriend....I can only fantasize about that right now!!!! The closest I ever got was about 4 years ago when I got into the 170's and I was overjoyed, but to move into a whole new category, that's BIG TIME!!! Congratulations! Bracelet sounds neat. That husband sounds like a keeper! ;)
VIV
In case your lurking, glad to hear you got back on track!! Way to go. It's amazing when you do the right thing and stay on plan isn't it? I'm trying to get my brain to realize that!!!!! Have you heard any more reports from the newreporter about how she is doing on SB? Was she supposed to do a follow up story?
ldblond
How are you doing?? Hope we can meet for lunch this week. Are you still on normal 1 hour lunches, or has that changed yet? I went to 3 health food stores on Sunday and they were all closed. You'll be proud of me though, I rode my BIKE to one of them! Are you going to come in and pick up some samples of Protonix and give it a whirl? If we have lunch, I will bring them to you! Sound like blackmail? It is! I miss you!!!
Well, need to get off line and go scrub-a-dub-in-the-tub!
Catch up with yoiu fearless women later! Hugs, Nancita!

Hi Everyone….
I’m human again! Got the internet back! While you may think this is all for personal reasons, it’s not, I DO use it for work, okay! LOL!!!
Must clear up a discrepancy – I guess I wasn’t thinking when I typed it, but I do NOT eat carob covered RAISINS!!! It’s PEANUTS!!! Yikes, what you all must have thought!!!
I am now below my pre-Florida weight, at 134. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately, nerves, and it really squelches my appetite. I hate the end of the school year, I get so nervous about my kids’ classes and teachers and classmates for the next year. Unfortunately there a lot of manipulation that goes on around here and for those of us who want to play it straight, you’re at a disadvantage. It’s very very very nerve-wracking. Anyone have a similar experience?
My Ils are coming up for Father’s Day…..They haven’t been at my house inover 3 years so I am getting it ready for the “inspection”. You know what they say, “those who live in glass houses…..”. My MIL has blue carpeting and purple walls and yet thinks she can critique my house. So I’m gearing up for just a negative few days, dealing with the school issue, the inlaw visit, etc…..Ready for summer!
DEB – I congratulated you last nite but here is an official CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of you! I hope you do the celebration worthy of this great accomplishment. I agree, some before and after pics would be great! Glad Dad is doing well, can’t say the same for mine, he is having a very hard time with recuperation and the emotional issues between him and his wife are getting in the way. So, more stress. Agave nectar in coffee? Really? I am going to have to try that, I really need sweetener in my coffee and have been using half-packets of sweet n lo, never thought of agave! LOL re the Kinehora, my MIL always says “Kinehora, poo poo poo”….
Nance – another Peter Mayle fan! Did you know he has a new book out? I read about it when I was in SF, need to get it from the library. I’m reading the Ladies Auxiliary now, really enjoying it.
Sef – those floods sound terrifying. We’re thinking of you, so hang in there…..is all that rainwater bad for the poolwater, or does it give it a good flushing out? (is that a stupid question, well, I don’t have a pool!).
Sol – Hey, I’ve got a friend who wants to move to Orlando area. He went down for a house/apt hunting visit and because he is used to the bucolic New Englandy, treed, landscaped public areas he was surprised at the difference, say, in Winter Park or Altamonte. To me, those areas just look like Florida and I like them, I think I’m used to them and they are just “Floridian” to me. I think he’s being a little silly, but anyway…Can you suggest any areas he could look in that are more “suburban” in look and feel, I know the Dr. Phillips area is nice but that is super $$$, right? Any other ideas I could pass on to him? For me, just give me a backyard with a palm tree and I would be happy. For perennials, have you ever received the WhiteFlower Farm catalog? It’s an excellent nursery here in Litchfield County – they ship nationwide and their catalog is extremely detailed with zone info, etc. The have a website, www.whiteflowerfarm.com - for some reason I can’t bring it up right now, but I suggest you order the catalog – it’s absolutely beautiful. Wish I could send you some of my Black Eyed Susans and daisies!
Karen – I feel your pain about all that house upkeep. It never ends, does it? We need to stain, do the roof, windows, etc……yuck.
Tigger – my issue at McDonalds are the shakes. I just love them. 360 calories and like 9 grams of fat, not to mention the sugar. So I just need to stay away from there!
Frog – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good going on the Tiffany bracelet, that’s good for a few brownie points for DH, I bet! Love those Spewer stories, unfortunately I have a few acquaintances like that myself….And congrats on the under 150!
Laurie – have you ever tried swimming with a kickboard? That way you can get the lower body workout without really exhausting yourself.Pre-marriage I got down to 113 (!) swimming and doing laps with the kickboard, first on my stomach, then on my back, like a sit up in the water! I also did crawl laps, but found the kickboard really helped tone my legs, butt, hips and abdomen. Oh, I wish I had a pool!!!!!
Gotta get to work, girls. So glad to be back, I’ll do my best to post regularly now…it is hard on the weekends, but during the week, I’m here!

Hey Ladies,
Well, believe it or not, here I am.
It's a extremelty difficult 4-5 weeks. I didn't realize how serious my medical problems were. My foot seems to be on the mend. I go Wednesday for more test to see if my blood is getting back to normal. All of this started with I thought was a simple blister on the top of my foot. I neglected it for a week before I went to the doctor and I suppose that was a stupid thing to do. That's how I developed blood posioning. It's really a mystery and I still don't have any definite answers other than something seems to have bitten me on my foot when I went fishing. I don't recall this happening. But hopefully I'm on the mend. It will be awhile before I can get back to do any walking for excersie.
All of this was complicated emotionally by the loss of my dog, Bogart. My companion for 15 years. Putting him down was the hardest thing I ever had to do.
Between these two events in my life, I've battled some depression for the past few days. Don't have a clue as to what my weight may be. But as I said I go to the doctor tomorrow and I'll get a chance to weigh. Shouldn't be any damage done. though. The only thing I'm concerned about is not being to excerise for awhile longer. I've got to come up with some sort of ideas that don't require much foot activity.
As a side note to the high drama being played out in my life, we have been slammed by the rain and floods.
As you all know, I'm from Baton Rouge. I live across the river in a little town called Denham Springs. And we went under this past weekend. My house in town was okay. The camp on the river was another story. That's the price you pay from time to time for having a place on the river. But I wouldn't take anything for it.
Many, many people lost their homes this past week.
Thanks to everyone who sent me good wishes. And for the ones who understood my feelings about Bogart!
Hope to be back full speed soon.
I miss you guys.
Blessings,
StarChaser

KAREN - New windows sounds great. Vince wants to get the kind they have in the Chicago Hilton - you don't hear ANYTHING when those windows are closed. I'm sure we could never afford something like that, but when we dream, we dream BIG!!
RHOO - All I can say is -- if the weather's yucky then they better be darn glad they invited you to pretty things up at all your activities this week-end! You've lost 62 pounds!! I can't wait to wear sleeveless outfits.
TIGGERME - I think we've all been there - done that - got the t-shirt (except Debbie, of course). Just let BOB know to swing through and pick you up when the wagon train comes through town. You'll most likely think about those side effects next time you're tempted to get that Big Mac. :)
FROG - What a sweetie you have!! I always get all tingly inside when I hear about someone's sweetheart who picks up on something like your admiration of that bracelet and got it for you. That makes that bracelet that much more beautiful! OMG, Spewer definitely has self-esteem issues if you ask me! You've got it together and have more quality of life and that pisses her off - Cause, as that Hallmark card says, "the best things in life aren't things". At least you recognize what she's doing - and SPARKLE is going to be tickled when she reads that you thought about her quote. CONGRATS ON GETTING UNDER 150!!!!!!!!! WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!
GATORGAL - I sent in some money. I don't want to see this site go away either. You'd think with as many people as there are who use it they would be getting enough money, but I've procrastinated sending in money and it looks like I'm not the only one. :( I wonder if they've looked at EZ Board - I think it's free, that's what www.dottisweightlosszone.com uses and I think people can pay to have the banner ads not pop up which helps offset the costs of running the board. Since I quit doing WW I haven't been visiting there very much. Maybe they'll get a surge of money and keep us afloat.
LDBLOND - I started using www.fitday.com after GATORGAL and MELF spoke so highly of it. It breaks out everything for you - and even helps calculate how many calories you're using in a day.
LAMAP - Glad you're feeling better!
DEBBIE - Great news about your Daddy!! Thank you for updating us! That's awesome that there was no damage to his heart!! We use IE at work and there haven't been any script errors for me - I get the whole glorious pop up ad. :)
NANCE - On the main page at the top right hand corner is a box that says "Help 3FC click here" - I did the credit card thingy since it's quicker and easier. (actually, I think it's up there in the top right corner on every page) Bryers SF Ice Cream?? I'm going to have to check that out - Vince is getting tired of the same 3 SB Ice Cream flavors we buy. He's been buying little pints of Ben and Jerry's to eat while I eat the SB kind - I may be too late because I think he's addicted to the Apple Crumb Cake flavor. I've only TASTED it - and it IS good. :s: It's a good thing he buys the small cartons 'cause I can't sneak any out of those. CSI is one of our all time favorite tv shows!!! (that and Nash Bridges - yes, Vince is a Don Johnson fan) We tape it when we aren't going to be home to watch it. I don't know what we're going to do now that we're in re-run season - withdrawals!! Haven't checked out the FBI show, may have to look into that! So you like Robin Cook, too? I think he's an awesome author - where else ya gonna learn about benobo monkeys??? :D I'm so glad you'll be able to fit us in between your talking, swimming, talking, and Starbucks runs!! :lol: I know I'd go through withdrawals!
VIV - Glad to hear you were not partaking of the poisonous raisins!! I was shocked! :o Is that blue carpet shag, by any chance? :lol: I'm sure your house will be a lovely, peaceful haven for them. Orlando is so city-fied! There are pockets of "country" atmospheres, though, but it's all still FLAT. GATORGAL lives in a beautiful area of Maitland where they have awesome shade trees and big yards. He can look in Maitland (off Maitland Ave or Howell Branch Road). Yes, Dr. Phillips is for the well-to-do. I can e-mail you some information on the different areas and, if I can find it, a web site that gives information on the schools and crime rates and all for the areas. It would depend on where he is going to be working as to what areas I would recommend. Working at Disney you don't want to move to Deltona because it would take at least an hour to get to work. Working in Lake Mary - Deltona would give him the small town atmosphere he's looking for and a big home at a great price. Thanks for the info on White Flower Farm!!!! I'm definitely going to order a catalog today! I wish you could send me some black eyed susans and daisies, too!!! I just love them and can't imagine why I can't find them - they have to be easy to grow, don't they??
STARCHASER - Thanks for checking in with us!! Glad to hear you're on the mend! My Daddy had staph infection in his blood when I was in college and they only just caught it in the nick of time. Take it easy and don't overdo anything. (((((((((((((((((((((STARCHASER))))))))))))))))) Here's a big hug for you!! We look forward to hearing from you whenever you can check in with us. When I was single I'd go to bars and sit at the table and shake my shoulders - kinda dance with the top half of my body - maybe you could do upper body aerobics with BOB's Clorox bottles. We're all praying for things to settle down for you gals in LA and TX.
MELF - Did you make it back?? Is everything okay at your home? I hope y'all are high enough up to not have felt too much of the brunt of Alison!
I'll see if I can find a picture of my Vince-Meister to post. I had to work late last night so I didn't get to go lift weights and it's been since Wednesday and I'm actually peeved about it. I think that means I'm getting into the habit - yeah!!
Well, I just sent in the registration for my 15 year reunion in July. I've got to stay on that wagon and get maximum results in the 5 weeks I've got left. I'm drinking water like a fish today hoping that tomorrow the scales are good to me! Any tips on squeezing out every bit of potential to lose?
Have a great day everyone!! :wave:

LDBLOND - I like the words of wisdom. No don't pray for a drought! We'd be back where we started from! Things are drying out. We are dry in our immediate area, but there are others who are still submerged and need our prayers. The ones who are able to start cleaning up will never be able to replace what they lost. The physical things, probably, but the memory and sentimental things, never. Glad you are feeling better.
You do have to be careful with some meds.
LAMAP - My favorite exercise is the pool. When I had back surgery, water exercising was recommended. I went for three years to a class and learned a lot of exercise. I use them every time I go in the pool. I don't know how much it helps with weight loss, but it makes me feel good!
DEB - I, too, keep getting script errors and it's a pain! Annoying! Hooray for Dad, glad all is well. I put a post-it on the puter that I want it tonight at 8:15p CDT! Wait!
it's scheduled 9:15EST, but we're on CDT, so I think that it would be 7:15 here. Ouch! My math may not be too good!! I will just have to check and see!
NANCE - The movie wasn't an Austen movie. It takes place during WWII and was about the people in a town taken over by the German Army. The young man that is in the Winthorpe mysteries was also in it. Darn.......it irritates me I can't seem to
remember the name. Of course the priest was a central character who stood out against the regime! Brit comedies also include "Are Being Served?" and "Keeping Up Appearances" with Patricia Rutledge who is also Mrs. Winthorpe in those mysteries.
VIV - Strangely enough the pool have stayed clear. Probably because my ds has been really keeping it so. The water that flooded the back yard and pool was clear, but the water flowing down the street was muddy. Maybe because the two waters
did not meet is why the back stayed clear. DS probably threw in extra chemicals too.
STAR - So sorry to hear about your flood damage. We are among the lucky ones, I feel so bad for those that lost their homes. Did you lose everything at the camp? Hope you will soon be able to exercise normally. I'm so big I get out of breath even doing the RS "Silver Foxes" tape. So I pulled up a chair and followed along as best I could sitting down. It is amazing how it really helps! Maybe you could try that with a tape.
SOLSHINE - Liked the cartoon.
Which reminds me.........where does everybody find those cartoons and attachments?
Can someone point me in the right direction to read how to do it?
After the rain it is HHH weather. Went out to the freezer to get something for supper and like it or not we are having something the involves hanburger! The bottom shelf was melting. It may be because extra fridge and freezer are out in the garage and it is as hot as you know what.....and that is with the garage door open!
There are two packagess of meat. I can make a meatloaf with one (a fav of mine) and would like to make something different with the other. Will have to scan the recipe file!!
Take care every one. Hope to be at chat tonight and will probably check board later!
Debelli--I haven’t had any pop ups yet. Or if I have, I certainly have not noticed them. Maybe my new computer is so great that it screens them out. heh! heh! heh!
Nance--There was a big push for donations a couple of months or so ago, but then after the first flurry, the donations fell off. It’s pretty normal, because all of us on all the boards on 3FC just keep getting this “free” service. If the pop ups don’t work, I certainly would be willing to pay a subscription fee. Plenty of other web sites charge for using their services. If you want to make a donation now, just click on the section at the top of the main SB screen--that’s the top right where it says something about making a donation to 3FC.
VIV--It depends on where your friend works as to where he should look to live. If he works in downtown Orlando, then he might not want to be too far from there unless he likes to fight traffic. Like any big city, we have that traffic problem. Clermont is a town west of orlando and lots of people are moving there because it still has a country feel. But since lots of people are moving there, it probably won’t be too long before it loses that charm. Florida will never be like New England, no matter where one lives. North of the city about 20 miles is Debary, a small town that probably will stay small. The main problem there is that there is usually a huge traffic jam trying to cross a bridge that goes over the St. Johns River. They are working on building a new bridge, so it will only be a few more years until that problems goes away. Ha! Probably your friend should just rent until he gets to know the area better.
StarChaser--We HAVE missed you and are so sorry to learn of your travails. Glad your foot is on the mend. I probably would have delayed going to the dr. I hate to go to the dr. A closer friend just had to put her dog down TODAY, and she is really crying. I know the feeling. We had a DEAR cat that we still miss. I promise you that it does get better, but it probably doesn’t feel like it right now.
sef--We find those cartoons, pix, etc. on the internet. Go to any search engine such as Yahoo.com, MetaCrawler.com, HotBot.com and type in Gifs. Then hit “search” and a bunch of sites will show up where you can look for pix that you like. Then you select the pix and download it and use it for future posts. Hope this helps.
Gotta go. Have to clean house. DH is eating dinner downtown tonight because he has a late meeting. So I get to “nibble.”
BTW, I don't see UF Girl on this board yet. Guess she didn't want to come on over, or else she has a bunch of exams or something. :(

Iamap: I'm glad you are feeling better. It sounds like you found your motivation to exercise. Keep up the good work, you are on your way to the next "0".
debelli: I'm glad to hear that your Dad is back to being his old self! What a wonderful gift that he has no permanent damage.
Confessions of a pretty inactive woman, compartively speaking, I try to get up each morning and do a 15 minute workout that consists of Martial Arts/Calastenics. My 8-5 job is a computer job, and I don't get to wander much, maybe an hour a day. When I'm at home I play with my kids, and care for them - 3 hours a day :( wish it could be more during the week. Anyhow thanks for the tips. I am struggling to stay on weight loss while taking Biaxin, but trying to eat sf/ww foods. Like usual I will miss the chat, this is my special time with my family. Let me know if I miss any important info. Thanks again for helping me with some guidelines.
Nance: I had this problem for a short while too, did you increase your fiber intake or eating more artificially sweetened foods? It helped me to get back into a routine of veggies/fruits/grains at each meal until everything mellows out.
As for the Protonix, I'll pass for now with all that's in my body with the surgery, infection, and my normal stuff I don't want to mix in anything new. I would like to see you for lunch this week, though. Any chance you could come to the house and have a brown bag lunch? Give me a call.
Viv: Welcome back. I'm sorry to hear that you are a bundle of nerves and hope your kids are well taken care of next year. I hope the IL's don't add to the stress to badly, stand tall, your home is your home, something you are proud of, don't sweat your ML's comments.
StarChaser: YOUR BACK!! :) I'm sorry to hear that your time away from us has been difficult for you. I was unaware of your illness! My immediate prayers are for your full recovery. and then your loss...I lost Max a couple of years ago, it was devasting...and then the rains. That you are still on plan and maintaining through all of this, I'm incredibly proud. {HUG}
Solshine: What a great GIF!
A big hello to all of you I didn't address directly. More later, but for now I have to get back to work! By the way, I saw "Pay It Forward" last night. If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth your time and then some.

Deb, I can't begin to tell you how happy I am for you and proud of you. You truly are a success story in every way and not just because you've reached your goal, which is an awesome accomplishment. The energy and love you express through this forum, as in "real life" (haha) are your true success!
SolShine, thanks so much for dropping me an email alerting me of a new SPEWER story.....LOL! I LOVE those!
Froggie, Sonya is right I was tickled pink that you remembered my FAVORITE QUOTE! It was a huge revelation to me when I finally figured out that I was in control of my own feelings, and it's like everything is falling into place.
It's so hard when you are actually WITH that kind of person, but sitting over here in the Hawaiian sunshine far away from her negative influence, I find it very difficult to see how YOU, Renee, who is awesome in so many ways, could possibly in any way let HER, who is so fake and annoying, "make" you feel inferior! Chicks like Spewer I just pretty much avoid......but who am I to talk because my two best friends are guys and I don't have many women I get along with well.
And happy birthday to you and Cheri!
Anyways, sorry I can't respond to the rest of you right now. I'm having leftovers and battling a rare headache...I think it's the peanuts cause I normally don't eat them.
I've been doing the same, not good and not bad, really want to get on track and full speed ahead!
Love,
Chris

Evening All!:wave:
Had a nice day out with Eli, nothing exciting, just SCHMIZING (Jewish for running around). Had lunch at Ole Ole and Carbolite for dessert, had a mix of Pistachio & Strawberry, which makes what they call Spimoni-it was yummy!
CATLOVER, thanks for the congrats and once again, thanks for sending such a nice e-card:), and of course, the happy dance picture on the board!
NANCE, missed our morning chat today, but we left early, and I am sure you were still cozy in bed. Oh please, lets not even talk about bad gas-Eli was hanging his head out the window as he was driving today, sorta like when you see a dog hanging out the car-it's bad, really bad:eek: My friend Mayra use to work for Panasonic and all the Japanese men fart without warning and then fan their backside, when she told me this, I died laughing-mention a fart story and I'm on the floor dying of laughter. It's interesting to see men complain about gas, like they NEVER do it-YEAH RIGHT! Oh, you CAN have bread with preservatives, I choose not to though. Since starting SB, I try my darndest to cut out all the other garbage in foods. I have something I will try to post soon that I think you would find interesting. How many sisters are you getting together with this weekend-sounds fun! I am sure many on the board will inspire you, but I hope that seeing that it can be done, not only by me, but BEACHFAN as well, will let you know that you CAN do this, and do it without feeling deprived and hungry. Just stick with us (and me) and we'll be rejoicing when you meet goal in the near future (see, no pressure, huh!?)
VIV, an official WELCOME BACK!!! We've missed you on the boards! Congrats 134-lower than you Fl weight-WOO HOO! I'll have to remember the poo, poo, poo next time:) Oh gosh, I hope you survive the in-law invasion, good luck!!!!
STAR, and an official WELCOME BACK to you too!!! I'm glad to hear you are on the mend and hope things get brighter for you every day. Sorry to hear you too had flooding, I can sympathize with you as I'm sure all of us can. I know it must be hard having one thing after another happen, but just remember, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel:)
SOL, I was laughing SOOOO hard at the picture of the man at the end of your post-where in the world did you get that picture of Eli? It was too funny-thank you for providing me with such a great laugh!! Where is your reunion? I never went to mine, I was too fat when it came around and didn't want anyone to see me, maybe when the next one rolls around.
SEF, don't ask me about central time, I can only figure out my time zone and Pacific, then I put on my dunce cap from there. I'll e-mail you with some sites for pictures, but I do think BOB has the best selection around!!!
LDBLOND, will e-mail you with the info you wanted, will try to get it done ASAP :)
SPARKLE, thanks for the congrats-it truly has been an easy road with the help of everyone on this board. Hope you get rid of that headache, peanuts do that to you?
Gotta run and make some chicken I bought today-will see you all for chat tonight, another reminder that CHAT IS AT 9:15PM EST!!!
Toodles!

Hi, everyone! I have been lurking and reading messages for a few days-hope you don't mind! Gatorgal, thank you for inviting me on; you all sound like a great group of women!
I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself. I am just starting my senior year at the University of Florida majoring in elementary education. I have struggled off and on for years with my weight-I have never had a serious weight problem-just always trying to drop fifteen or twenty pounds. I started SB on Friday, weighing in at 168. As of Tuesday morning I was down to 166! My goal right now is to reach 150. So far SB seems really easy; my body really has not reacted adversily to the reduction of sugar intake. It is so inspiring to hear how you all are doing and the excitement of your reaching your goals. Thank you for letting me join your group; I really think that with the support this board offers I will be able to reach my goal!

MEAGAN, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! We're glad you are joining us.
It sounds like you are doing well so far following SB. Don't hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have. We are all happy to help in any way we can. I'm sure you have seen from reading the boards how supportive we are of each other. We have a close knit board that truly is wonderful and we're happy to welcome in another "member". PLUS, I must mention, we do have other teachers on the board, so you are in good company. Oh yes, and also many Floridians as well. I'm in Miami, Gator and Sol in the Orlando area, BOB (Bigorange) is in Sarasota and LAMAP is in Port Charlotte. If I forgot anyone, I'm sure to hear about it!!!:lol:

Hello everyone! It's Tuesday night and I'm FINALLY getting on the board. Ugh!!! I HATE falling behind. Anyways, so sorry. I couldn't get on the board last night. Don't know what the problem was . . . screens just wouldn't load. May have been our connection because Paul's computer wouldn't download the pages either. Anyways, thanks to AMSER and DEB for letting me know that it wasn't the ENTIRE board going wacky.
I haven't read anything yet. Just getting started and wanted to say "greetings!" I did notice SOLSHINE'S "little boy blue" and laughed my head off. Makes me want to go back downstairs and do another 40 minutes on the treadmill . . . just for good measure.
I'll get back on soon, but it's already 8 pm and don't know how long I'll last. Hope everybody had a great sugarfree day. I think I may weigh in tomorrow. Eeeek. I'm starting to sweat already!
Take care.

Good Evening!
Sorry I couldn't do the CHAT thing tonight. We had prioties the son HAD to get the new Blink182 CD that just came out!!!!
He called me at work about 5 times to ensure we were going right after dinner! Now I can sleep tonight!
Starchaser-Sorry to here about the blood posioning. That's icky.
Hope you are on the mend. Will say prayers for you!
Solshine-All my shows come on Tuesday night, but I don't know if it's the same all over the country...probably not!
Sef-Good tip about the kick board in the pool. By coincidence there's been one floating in my Mom community pool that I use, and now I will have to use it!
Deb-Missed talking with you this morning! DId Michael tell you we I.M'd while you and Lauren were watching the new "FEAR" show? He probably thinks I'm nuts! I have two sisters, and two brothers...we're the typical Catholic family. MOm and Dad had me when they were 42, so I was a surprise. There is quite a gap in our ages. My oldest sister is 20 years older than me, and the brother closest to my age is 10 years older than me.
You are absolutely correct BEACHFAN is another awesome mentor.....actually anyone staying on plan and setting a good example for me is a mentor!
UFGirl-WELCOME!!!!! You will come to know and love us all!!! SOunds like you've got alot going on with school. Any breathers over the summertime?
BOB, BOB, BOB....What is the crime putting down what you have lost???? 2, 4, 6, 20 pounds....can't I even have a little hint? The more you play hard to get, the louder the buzzing will be! Didn't I tell you persistant is my middle name? Are you planning on coming to Vegas in October. Hope you didn't use all your vacation time up!
Well. gotta take advantage that both the kids are gone for 1 1/2 hours.....um, let's see, what could I do?

Hi to all,
First
Happy Birthday!!! to all the June birthdays.
Second, Deb,You Go, Girl!!!
I know how excited you are about reaching that goal. When I did it on WW, I was as proud as a peacock strutting his feathers.:D
Congrats, you are an inspiration to all of us.
Well, Sunday, I just made up my mind at the last minute to just make a run for it, and got in my car, and headed west. Right through the bad weather! We caravaned, and I had someone's taillights to follow...:( I just kept my eyes in front of me.
We finally drove out of it, and actually we had sunshine by the time we got to Lafayette!!!
I'm glad we got here okay...I am also glad that we decided to brave the weather. The facilitators were not happy that two people from our team did not come, and were not at all pleased that one school cancelled all together.
The institute has been really good. It has explained the different sub-cultures that we belong to, and all that is included in that. For example, we are a sub-culture just by being a part of this board. Tomorrow we are going out in teams to interview people in the town to get a feel for what it's like to be a folklorist. Really interesting stuff!!! Tonight we went cajun dancing, and I learned to do the two-step. It was so funny, every time my instructor told me that I was getting it, I lost count and messed up:o , but it was fun.
We meet at 7:45 everyday, end around 3:30, and have planned activities every night, as well as homework! But I am really happy to meet so many interesting people from our state.
Okay, here is the worst part. Our school paid for us to stay at a Day's Inn. There are three female teachers, and we are the only women in the place. It is full of construction workers and truck drivers. It is a little spooky, but that is where our district paid for us to stay. We are trying to be very careful, and just make the best of it.
I have done fairly well OP. The dancing tonight should help. I know that I am not getting enough water, but don't want to have to keep getting up too much to run to the bathroom.
I have no real expectations for the one-eyed monster next week.
I miss my daily contact with all of you. I finally got a chance at 10:30 PM to post a short note. Now, that I have my computer set, I will try to check for a few minutes each day.
Good luck to all of you tomorrow with WIW. Remember Deb's success...we will all be there one day...

It's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAYS!!!!!
Here's hoping the scales are good to all of us!!
If you'd like to post your weekly results on our WEEKLY WEIGH IN BOARD just click on the link below:
Just got in from the usual 4.5 mile walk, no jogging today, just a slower than normal walk-too darn hot out there!
Hoping WIW is good for everyone on the board today. I can finally post a loss on the WEIGHT LOSS BOARD! Last time I posted a loss was on May 16th for 130.5lbs, and since then, every WIW I've been higher, so with 129 being what I weigh in today, I can finally post a 1.5lb loss!:spin:
Thanks to all of you who joined us in the chat room last night-it's always fun to get to chat, even if it does get a bit hectic and crazy in there at times!!
Kids last day of school is today-Lauren wants me to now find out if there's a space for her at camp for the 2nd 4 weeks, NOW she asks! I'm sure they are full, it's a small camp, but I'll try anyhow. My hair is starting to turn gray just thinking about having them home!:eek:
Speaking of hair, I mentioned in chat last night that I am THINKING of doing blond in my hair. I have brown hair and have had blond highlights in it, but I'm thinking more about doing alot of blond. I got a hold of Sharons MODE magazine and there's a model in there with great coloring, different shades of blonde. Does anyone get that mag to give me an opinion of what they think of the color??
UFGIRL, again, we're glad to have you with us! You and GATORGAL have something definitely in common, she absolutely LOVES the GATORS! You go to her house and see gators all over the place! Again, let us know how we can help you out in any way:)
NANCE, missed you at the chat-hey, there ARE priorities in life!! Hope your son appreciates what his Mother gave up last night to go take him to get the CD!! Hope I'll be home by the time you are o the computer today, have to go to the grocery store - if I'm not, here's your official GOOD MORNING!!!! Nope, Michael didn't tell me you chatted, will have to ask him today when he comes home from school-I'm surprised, usually the kids don't answer I/M's under my name. Are all the family coming together this weekend? I'm sure you were a surprise for the family, but what a nice surprise you were!:)
ICESKATE, thanks for the congrats. Glad to hear you were able to get through the bad weather and get to the conference. It sounds interesting and fun-I'm sure you'll get your dancing feet going before you leave there. When do you leave to return home?? Hope you continue to have not only an interesting time, but a fun time as well!!!
Okay, time for me to jump in the shower (please, no visualizing). I'll check in with you all later.
Reminder that TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL recipes that you'd like to share with the board, please try to post them tomorrow!
TOODLES!

Just checking in -- I'm down 1 lb. this morning, but my measurements don't seem to have changed. :mad:
I'm going to look at how to add more aerobics to my schedule. By the time I'm through with weights I need to be booking it home so I don't do both on the same day. I may start doing aerobics on the days I don't do weights. 4 pounds in 3 months is ridiculous - I'm not anywhere close to goal so it's frustrating!
Here's one of my days - if anyone has any suggestions:
1 egg & 3 egg whites (fried in non-stick skillet sprayed with PAM)
1/3 cup dry oatmeal cooked in 1 cup water
1 tbsp butter
1 cup coffee
1 Splenda packet
2 tbsp cream
4 oz. 2% cottage cheese
1 grapefruit
Taco Salad of:
1 cup pinto beans
lettuce
cheese (about 1/4 cup)
pico de gallo (fresh)
1 1/2 tbsp sour cream
1 1/2 tbsp guacomole
(*No chips of any kind*)
12 oz. can Diet Rite Cola (no aspertame, caffeine or sugar)
Chicken nachos of:
1/4 cup chicken
1/4 cup cannellini beans
(I can't remember the rest of the recipe, but I had figured the portion out to 208 calories)
2 Tbsp sour cream
5 Triscuits
1 glass unsweet tea
1 cup SB Strawberries & Cream ice cream
Let me have it!! I've got to start seeing some results!
Should I go back to the book and follow the sample menu? Someone mentioned that it's really for maintenance. What should be done to make it more weight-loss friendly?
I go back to the endocrinologist on July 5 and I don't know what she's going to say or do if I don't have some kind of improvement on things. Not to mention that I want to see results.
Okay, enough whining. I looked for a picture of Vince that he wouldn't kill me for posting and I don't have one. I'm going to have to look through our pictures at home and get one scanned.
UFGirl - Welcome!! There's so much variety in ages, geographic location, backgrounds, personalities and levels of success on this board. We all learn from each other and knit together very nicely. DEBBIE and VIV are teaching us Jewish words so we can go SCHMIZING and say things like OY VEY and don't KINEHORA ourselves or others we love. It's like our own little cyber-family here and you'll get addicted quickly.
Gotta get to work - hope we have a bunch of LOSERS posting today!! :lol:
:wave: Have a good day everybuddy!!

Whew, I found it!
Morning Ladies….
Notice I didn’t say “Good” morning! Honestly, Calgon, take me away. It’s just been one emotional thing after another and to make things worse, got in to work this AM to a bunch of complaints from two clients – I work hard to GET the clients in the door here, and it really really really upsets me when people here screw up – then what happens? The burden is on ME again to get MORE new clients in to replace the ones we’ve lost. Anyone ever done cold calling? It is NOT fun! Well, I really shouldn’t get started on this………….grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……………………..
I had a Pumpernickel bagel this morning with lite cream cheese – I did read somewhere that Pumpernickel is low on the GI and I needed to grab something. Last nite at lacrosse there was a pizza party – we hadn’t had dinner, so I ate one small square – could be why I’m up ½ lb this morning. But overall I’m doing great OP, like I said, stress causes a loss of appetite in me. So I guess it’s good for something (LOL although I don’t feel like LOL-ing!)
And, with the IL’s coming up on Sunday last nite I thought, Hmmmm, let’s get them out of the house, get FIL and DS, etc., over to the driving range to get them out of the house! I thought we’d be on our deck most of the day, which is much less stressful than in the house. So what does the weather forecast say? Thunderstorms! LOL! Not!
I know this may be a bit too late, but I’m going to throw it out anyway. Re: the Vegas trip – I really cannot afford the travel time to Vegas. Is there any way that going to a moderately priced SPA in Connecticut could be considered? I think it would be so much fun to get together in an environment sort of in keeping with how we all met! Just wanted to throw it out – I understand, of course, if all of you are wild party animals instead! And now that I think of it, Rhroo and I are the only ones living in the Northeast, right? Well, it’s out there….
DEB – I say go totally blond. I liked your highlights when I met you but for some reason I think of you as a total blond. This could be the “making goal” reward! I guess the only “problem” is that it’s probably higher maintenance than highlights – but girl, ya live in FLA, get that FLA look! Maybe also go a little shorter on the hair because I would think the ends would dry out from the color and the sun – and now that I think of it, you’re tiny, going a little shorter on the hair makes you look longer and leaner on the body too. That way when you get the color touched up you could get a trim at the same time – oy, I would never have the time for it, but you are a woman of “leisure” with “big” kids so you can go to the hairdresser! Lucky you! I am soooooooooo due for a cut but it takes such a big chunk of time that it’s hard to schedule.
Star – I am so sorry about Bogart. I read your posts about this several times and never answered simply because it’s been hard for me to be online. But I totally understand how you feel, just had a conversation with a teacher yesterday who has an 18 yo cat – I got all choked up talking to her about it because I know how much it hurts to lose a pet. But the hurt will turn to just good memories and warm feelings – didyou get another dog>? Honestly, that’s the best medicine…
BOB – Thanks for the welcome, girl! Are you still smoke free?
Sol – Oh, thanks for the Orlando info – I forwarded it to my friend. It is hard leaving New England, it is so pretty here, treed, uncongested in the burbs, etc. Orlando is definitely built up but the weather and the recreation cannot be beat! DH had an opportunity to transfer to a TV station in Orlando, but we turned it down simply because the schools here are #1 in the state and we know that’s not the case in Florida – our friends all have their kids in private schools because of the numbers. But then I think – “ah, I could have a palm tree and a pool!!!!!!!!!” . I would sooooo love a pool – I was so skinny when I swam regularly, and I think doing laps is fantastic for the mind – nothing but you and the water. We COULD build one here but it is such a big expense for just May through September, even if it’s heated. Hey, Diet Rite has no aspartame? What is it sweetened with? And, hon, dahlink, the word is ‘schmooze” ! Your menu looked excellent to me, I wonder what other feedback will be. What kind of exercise do you get, perhaps that’s the key?
Quilter – Yo!
Ice – I loved to travel for work. Hope the accommodations don’t get you down – I would have a hard time with that too. All the travel I did was when I was in the hotel industry, so needless to say, free suites on the 20th floor at Sheratons spoiled me! Some jobs just havenice fringe benefits!
UF – Welcome to the board! I too have that 10-15 pound issue but have found that SB really works. Be patient – it took a while for my body to show results, but it DOES work and the board is the best resource you can have!
Nance – how old is the son that got Blink 182? My 10 yo has another of their CDs and I could kick myself for letting him get it – a bit mature…??? Now he wants the other – do me a favor and check all the lyrics for me and let me know! Honestly, maybe this makes me sound like an old biddy, which I am most definitely NOT, but what is it about inappropriate language that makes music better? Would the music be worse without it? I don’t think so! Now I understand Tipper Gore! Remember that, we all thought she was an old biddy but now that we are parents, we agree with her!Yikes!
Ok, have I “kvetched” enough for you today? Hope so! Glad to have me back, I bet! Like a friend said to me this morning ( he has older kids) “In 10 years, none of this will matter”. I know how true that is.
Off to my work now….
Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, everyone! I just wanted to check in before I left for school. I may not check in again for a little while-my sister is coming to visit until Friday! I am so excited to see her-she just graduated from high school and will be going away in the fall to Clemson so we are trying to spend a lot of time together before the fall. Hopefully, I will be able to saty on track while she is here!
NANCE- Thanks for the welcome. I am really busy with school, but I am almost finished for the summer. I am taking three classes right now in a six week semester so it has been fairly stressful. Next week is my last week though and I get to go home (to Jacksonville) until the end of August! My mom is also doing SB so it will be easy to stay on plan there.
I hope you all have wonderful days!

Geez, where is everyone this morning?:?:
Just got home from the store and sitting her having a "milkshake". I bought some new Frontier extracts, cinnamon, coconut and banana and decided to try the banana, it's okay, but the coffee is SOOO much better! It's amazing how filling this is and how 1 cup milk and 1 cup crushed ice can come out to be more than 24 ounces when it comes out of the blender!! I use the extra calcium milk so 1 cup gives me half the calcium I need for the day.
One thing I keep meaning to share with you all that I am constantly forgetting...like I have told you all in the past that what's amazed me more than the weight loss with this WOE was been able to stay OP 100% and the emotional eating issue I have seemed to conquer. Well another thing is that I was actually able to stick with it. I am the type of person that tires of things easily. If I give myself a task to do, unless it's a quickie one, I find myself doing other things. Seems for me, once something is no longer a challenge I want to do something else-so, here I am almost 15 months later and I can proudly say this is one thing I was able to stick with in doing-another accomplishment!
SOL, CONGRATS on the pound, hey, a pound is NOTHING to turn your nose up at. Looking at your menu, it really looks fine to me just from looking at it. Do you use the fitday.com site at all to see how many calories, carbs, etc it comes out to be. If you can do that, you can see how you are really doing. Maybe a bit too much in the fat dept, but again, not sure. Would be happy to help you figure it out later though :) Again, I do believe that you are losing fat and gaining muscle-one reason I personally didn't do any weight training while losing, I didn't want to see a gain, even if it was muscle!:eek:
VIV, glad to see you found your post:) Don't let things stress you out so much, it doesn't ever help and it's not good for you-I KNOW! Sorry, on my end, it's Vegas baby-I need some excitement out of the bedroom!!!! :lol: You talk about a chunk of time to go get the hair done, I talk about the chunck of change! It costs me over $100:eek: and she wonders why I am only there once a year!!!!!:rolleyes: I am going to take the picture and ask her what she thinks. I can't go too short on the hair, need it to be long enough to put up when I walk, but it definitely needs a good trimming, it's been 4 months.
FYI you all-the Jewish word that VIV used for the day, kvetched means COMPLAINED!!!!
UFGIRL, have a wonderful time with your sister. When do you get to go home for the summer???
Okay, time for me to run-check in with you all later!!!!

Good Morning!!!!
I found that book "Eating Thin for Life" that my sister told me about, and the first weight loss chapter is"Want to be thin more than you want to eat the wrong foods". I hope there will be some great things I can hsare that will benefit us all. For those of you who are at your goal weight, the book says that "The Masters" as they are refered to (those who have met there goal and have stayed there for 2-5 years I think) never allow themselves to to go 5-10 pounds above their goal. There technique is "nipping small gains in the bud". Makes sense, but you could apply that to any weight gain, so if you get off track, get right back on!
Well I spent all morning long looking for cute gifs to attach, and now have limited time to talk!!!!
Viv-My son is 13 and I'm probably too liberal. I like some of the same music he does! I'm no example being the Red Hot Chili Peppers is one of my favorite groups, and they have some language. As long as he's not listening to what I call "devil worshiping" music, I'm o.k. with it, but there is a big difference between 10 and 13! I'll check the c.d., or just ask my son, he's honest with me and I'll give you a report!
Solshine-I was laughing about the jewish talk...reminds me of Mike Myers on SNL doing "Coffee Talk", one of my favorite skits!
I used the word Kinehora at work yesterday and people looked at me with one raised eyebrow and said "WHAT?" I was laughing out loud cause it's out inside joke stuff!
ldblond-HOW ABOUT LUNCH TODAY???????? Call me, e.mail me, something!!! Loved your quote the other day by the way on motival monday!
BOB-Did you ever see that war movie where the bad guys caught the good guys and put bamboo wood under there fingernails to make them talk? Just wondering...................:s:
Deb-Go blonde darling, by all means!!! Treat yourself to the beauty salon for fluff and fold! My rationale (sp?) is that the greys are coming in anyway, so this help camoplauge(sp?) them better!
Quilter-Went to best buys after all the England talk to buy myself the 3 or 4 part series of Pride and Prejudice and they were SOLD OUT!!!!!! I ended up buying some c.d.s and a SNL comdy spoof
in VHS and the sales man was like "What, you don't own DVD?", like I'm still using 8-track or something!
Well, now I'm LATE FOR WORK!!!!!! Bye Girls!

hi all. I'm new to the board and have been on SB since oct 98, but had a baby about a year ago so for a year I had cravings and only gained 30 lbs. It's been a year since I've had her and have been doing my SB, but just not religiously and still need to lose 15 lbs to down to my weight. Started exercising and lifting weights again and trying real hard to get back into eating right.
Any tips for any other working moms out there.

Down another pound to 123...wooooo hooooooo!!!!!!!!!
I have actually been bouncing back and forth between 122 and 123 the last few days. Yes, it has been a long 5 months, but worth every bit of it. As I have said before, besides the weight loss, I have learned alot in other areas as well. Well, I needed to spend some time in the garden today, especially with all the rain we have had the last 4-5 days. Well, you gals should have seen me trying to hoe up the weeds that are trying to take over. I thought I was gonna pass out from slinging the hoe. Sweat was running down my face, then into my eyes, and my eyes started burining:eek: I stopped so I could wipe my face, put down the hoe, and said to myself I need some WATER. With that Beau(son/dog) and I proceeded to get in the golf cart and drove back to the house, where I comfortably sit posting this to all of you!!!!
I wanted to keep this somewhat short. I still need a shower, then I have to head to town for a routine check-up with my internist. I am sooooo hoping my labs will be GOOD results. I will let you all know. Until next time, good luck to all with WIW. I will try to respond back to everyone's recent news. See you all later...............

SOLSHINE- In looking at your food list, I believe you are eating too many calories to lose like you want. I counted just your breakfast and through your lunch of cottage cheese and fruit and I counted 500 that far. With the beans, sour cream and other calorie dense foods in the other two entrees, I figure you went over 1300. Overall, the food looks really healthy and very SB OP. But the book does specify that we need to keep portions under control. The book doesn't use the "C" word, but when you have calorie dense foods, the portions have to be very small to stay within the calorie limits you need to actually lose. Check out on Fitday how many calories you are eating per day, and if that is too much trouble, just print off your food intake list and take it over to Jim and he can tell you pretty easily how much you are getting. I would highly recommend doing this--taking it to Jim, because they are truly interested in helping you over there. He will probably say to omit the sour cream and the cream in your coffee, and to add more veggies and lessen the beans. Or just have chicken and not beans and chicken at the same meal. Too many calories.
I actually hate to mention the word calorie along with SB, but I found for myself that just guessing at what I was eating, even when staying OP, I was not losing at all. I HAD to keep track of my portions and calories. I kept fiddling around with this because I HATE!!! to write down and leaf through those calorie books. I really fought it hard. But the Fitday site has made it so much easier now that I have this faster computer.
Since I've been actually been keeping track of the calories, I've lost 2 pounds. I'm down in the 160's now. High 160's but down there, nevertheless.

Great to have you aboard (pun intended!) My DH and I are both UF grads. He also went to law school there. We both were in greek organizations and also active in other campus stuff. I was an art major. The campus has really grown since I was a student there and the tuition has also gone up a lot. I paid $113 per semester for tuition, and didn't have to pay by the course hours I took. Of course, that was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Steve Spurrier was the quarterback for the Gators when my DH was in law school, and he won the Heismann trophy then. It was wonderful going to the greatest U. in the country. However, there are lots of other SEC school fans on this board, and we are all waiting for the start of football season, which, I believe, is in 80 days! Then there will really be some action on this board. Right BOB?
:lol:
Well, gotta go. My web server had problems with their computers this morning and I spent the better part of the morning trying to track down why my e-mail was not working. All because of computers! How true on the e-mail, Narda. We've all been sc***ed by this e-world and the companies that control it. :p

Greetings Everyone!:wave:
Just a quickie before I throw some slop on the table and call it dinner. Since Eli isn't home, poor guy has to work really late, til 3am probably, it's up to me to get dinner on the table. Pray for my poor children:devil:
NANCE, definitely give us a review of the book, what you posted so far is true, and hopefully one day, I can be a MASTER:lol: I take it you got the half.com coupon as I got a msg one was used-THANKS!!
Honey, the grays have been here and I've done my darndest to camouflage them. I'm gonna see what I can do about getting this color in the magazine-wish you could see it. It's in this months MODE if you get a chance to see a copy, it's about coloring hair towards the back of the mag. Kids would like to see me go straight with my hair, will more than likely see if I could wear it both ways when I get it cut next time.
RALYNNE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! Glad you have decided to join us. You started on SB way back I see, and I guess you know how successful this WOE can be from personal experience. Fifteen pounds isn't much and I'm sure you'll lose it before you know it. We're all here to help in any way and root you on to get to your goal:) Again, welcome!!!
AMSER, CONGRATS!!! Finally, the scales rewarded your patience! Geez, how far away is you garden from the house that you need a golf cart? Sounds like a really long way, either that, or your lazier than anyone I've ever met!:lol: I know that stinging eyes feeling from sweat, I get it every day when I walk, a true owieee! You must of really been killing those weeds!!! Do let us know how your blood work comes back!
GATOR, Congrats on getting into the 160's! With SOLSHINE, you have to remember, with what SOL weighs, she shouldn't go down to 1300 calories, it's too low for her at this time. She has to go down gradually. She's exercising and cutting back on calories. To maintain her current weight she'd need at least 2400 calories, and she shouldn't go more than 500-700 calories less than that, doing even 1300 calories, which is almost half, wouldn't be good for her. I do about 1300 calories average. Hope you don't mind me throwing in my 2 cents on what you said:)
Will check in with you all this evening!
TOODLES!

Just wanted to post this item again, I posted it oh so long ago, but it's really worth reading over again, esp for those of you who say, I just lost 1 pound!
Just One Pound
Hello, do you know me? If you don't you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm Only One Pound, just a pound. Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds or fifteen pounds, but never only one, so I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I
add to myself ever so slyly so that you never seem to notice it, that is until I've grown to ten, twenty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it's fun being Only One Pound of fat, left to do as I please. So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying "Oh, I only lost one pound." ( as if that were such a terrible thing!) For you see, if you do this you'll encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm not worth losing. And I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you. Happy Days!! After all, I'm Only One Pound of fat!!!

HAPPY DANCE IN EFFECT!!!
:spin:
I am down 4 pounds from last week to 148.5. I have seen a trend in that I gain 2 weeks before TOM, then see a loss the week that I am supposed to start. HMMM.
WELCOME NEWBIES!!
MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE?!!!
Due to the success of Frog Lover, I have inspired a friend and her SIL to start SB and she is interested in 3FC! While that is certainly good news, I will be forced to stop talking about Spewer because my friend and her SIL are part of the "Ladies' Group." Furthermore, my friend's sister is Spewer's best friend. To make things MORE complicated, my friend and I are the closest buds in the entire group! :rolleyes: So, this is the last week that I will be posting stories about her until I feel certain that he coast is clear.
I want to get together to meet (ala Las Vegas), but I agree with Viv in that I have concerns about getting to the west coast. I also :love: the spa idea, but that can get pricier than the plane fair to LV + hotel. What are a group of Chicks to do? Perhaps it would be good to submit some estimated costs and/or generate lists of people who are willing to room together to reduce expenses, etc.
Well, gotta go eat a little din-din. Congrats to all you losers!
Peace,
Frog

Hi everyone I finally have some time to post today.
Well since Deb posted that nice little note about 1lb I will not say "I only lost one pound this week" :) I am hoping it was because it is that TOM. Did any of you notice once you had been on SB a while that you find yourself not so hungry. I am having the hardest time keeping my calories up. Today so far I have only been able to get down a plum and a chicken breast. I am hoping for dinner tonight I will be hungry and not just have a few bites and then push it away.
I found another place to enter your food and exercise my.webmd.com it is great I set up my profile with my weight and so forth and it told me just how many calories I need to take in everyday to be losing 1.5 a week and with exercise it tells you how much you are burning in calories.
It was really nice chatting with those of you in chat last night and plan on doing it again next week. Well gotta run and finish up a few things before I go home tonight.

Hello Ladies!
Well I have to say that I stayed the same this week. AND..... I cheated tonight. I went out to eat and had a cheesburger on wheat toast, but...I had about 5 french fries too. BAD, BAD!!
I have also been reflecting on my life as it has progressed so far. I have for years beens saying....."When I am thin, I will do ..."! Or "When I am thin I will be this...."! Well, I am going to live for today and stop waiting until "I'm thin". Tomorrow may not come and I will have wasted today. So, here I am "living it up" BUT trying to get healthy at the same time.
Deb: I say GO FOR IT! I think you would look great as a blond.
Kim: Thanks for the card.
I am back to walking. Have walked every day since last Wednesday. It's hotter than heck out there too. There is an exercise room here also, I am thinking of going to use the equipment there 3 days a week. I am trying to get up the nerve to go to the swimming pool too (it's across the street). I love to swim.
Happy to see so many losses. You all are awsome.

DEB---It’s Wednesday evening and I JUST read that you reached goal. WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY TOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! That has to be so exciting for you. I know I’m just peeing my pants about it on this end. Tell the truth . . . did you do the happy dance and scream and shout? It’s good that you showed Eli. He’s been with you every step of the way. Did you think that I was ignoring your big day? I sure hope not. What a day to not be able to get on the board!!! Anyways, so happy that you’ve seen the magic number. You are an inspiration to me in so many ways. Thanks, girl. Hope you are spending the week giving yourself proper celebrations in honor of the big 129!!!!
NANCE---I LOVED A YEAR IN PROVENCE!!!!! It was so well done and so funny and just so everything!!! Yes, I saw both Emma’s, but it’s been a while since then. I also have Sense and LOVE it. Would you believe that I wouldn’t see Titanic because I couldn’t stand Kate Winslow in Sense??? It was more like I hated the character she played . . .the evil self-obsessed sister. Sometimes I think Emma Thompson IS Jane Austin reincarnated.
SOL---Thanks for you added advice about the “mystery.” I agree that he blew me off, but there wasn’t much I could do at the moment. With what’s been going on around here lately, you’d think they’d be bending over backwards to make a good showing. Anyways, I’ll keep my ear to the ground and keep scanning the paper for something. Also, I’ve never had any luck with daisies. I have had shasta daisies as long as I’ve had ground to plant them and they NEVER do any good. I just don’t think my ground is good enough for them. Right now I think I’ve got about 3 poopy looking blooms out there. Just waiting for a good wind to come along to blow all the petals off. I hope you find things to put in your yard. My niece planted lantana down there. It’s an annual up here, but I think she said it comes back down there. You can get that in all sorts of colors. I wonder how clematis would do in FL. What I absolutely love but don’t have are echinacea (aka purple coneflowers). They are wonderful and great to cut and put in vases. Thanks for the tip about sweeping being a deterrent to the underarm wave. I’ll try it.
FROG---I’m sorry I forgot your birthday!!! Feel like a real reject for doing that. However, I want to congratulate you on getting to make the big move. That had to be a wonderful birthday present. I so envy you. Way to go!!!!!
Well, gals, some EVIL, EVIL person brought a bucket (no exaggeration) of white choc covered pretzels into the office. I ate them and I ate them and I ate them. Needless to say . . . I’m terribly upset with myself and ashamed to confess but that’s part of being on this board. We have to be true to each other. I couldn’t hold my head up with you all if I didn’t come clean. So there you have it. Tomorrow, I will be writing down everything I eat and will be posting it tomorrow night. So please, let me have it (gently of course) if I waver. I need to get back to 100% and I need your help to get there. Thanks to all of you. I’ll get caught up with the posts tomorrow night. Sorry, I know I missed a bunch of you, but I’m running out of time. See you on the flip side. Here’s to a new day and a new attitude about eating!!!
Take care.

Way to go to all the losers this week! :cool: I'm up a bit, but I'm not surprised. Eating too much SF ice cream. It truly is a weakness of mine. In the summer when it gets hot and muggy I could live on ice cream or sherbert. Does anyone know if they make a SF sherbert? I don't recall that I have ever seen any. Can you believe it, a week ago I had the heat on and yesterday I put the AC on!!!! We say just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change, and it sure does!
Welcome to the newbies! Glad to have you with us. There's a terrific group of people here who are more than happy to answer questions and give you support.
We are planning a camping trip this weekend--the traditional father's day trip to a campground that does a pig roast Sat. night. It's soooo good. We are supposed to have strong storms tomorrow night, so we won't leave until Fri. early a.m. The weekend is supposed to be nice. Have a great weekend everyone!

154!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 pound from two weeks ago...while this may not sound like much, I've been very much stalled so I'm happy to have reached a new low. I had to get on the scale twice because I didn't believe it!
Great to hear all the good news!

Evening All:)
Ready to call it a night soon, so thought I'd get on here and post first.
Eating like a pig today, all OP of course, but too much of everything. TOM is due in the next 3 days, so that's maybe why. Didn't journal my food today, getting sloppy, will do better tomorrow.
FROG, WOO HOO!!! WOW, that's a wonderful loss! And it's a great milestone-under 150 now!!! Another milestone, less than 20 to go!!! HAPPY DANCING FOR YOU!!!! As we will miss the sagas of Spewer, we'll just have to close the chapter of that book, oh well, you can always e-mail us a good story!:lol: Vegas really shouldn't be too much, esp that time of year, it's not busy for them and the rates are usually low. I know that from Miami you can do 3 days/2 nights for $199, sometimes $169, in nice hotels as well. That's pretty cheap. I personally cannot afford it, but I am hoping Mom comes through with her usual monetary gift so I can use it to go there. I know not everyone can go, but if it's feasible and you want to go, please, do try:) It would be a blast!
TIGGER, CONGRATS on your 1lb:) Many people have trouble with eating enough, and yes, it's very common to not have much of an appetite. Do try to keep track and find ways to make sure you do eat enough, otherwise you aren't going to lose. Make sure you eat enough and you will see the scale go down, chicken and a plum are just not going to cut it;)
CHERI, don't worry about staying the same, it's sure better than a gain. And the burger and fries, just chalk that up to a special birthday dinner!:lol: I like your new attitude, live for the moment, not for the future!
BOB, you go girl! CONGRATS! 4-quatro pounds, that's wonderful, so I guess you are steering that wagon in the right direction now!! Oh, and I love the scale gif-had to steal that one to put in my files:^:
AMSER, didn't know you were such a good dancer!!
QUILTER, thanks again for the congrats and for the nice chat tonight. Of course, I would NEVER think you were ignoring me!!! No, I didn't scream in shout, just stepped on the scale about 20 times to make sure!:rolleyes: Remember, tomorrow is a new day!!!!
KAREN, do try to be careful with the SF Ice Cream, too much of a good thing can be dangerous! If it has maltodextrin in it, that may be causing you to be up, seems to do that to me. Where do you go camping? How are you going to do your food to stay OP??
SPARKLE, CONGRATS! A pound is NOTHING to roll your eyes at, I'd take 1 any day!!!!
Again, a reminder, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY Any special requests????
Lets see if I sleep in tomorrow or wake up early and walk, with the kids out of school, who knows.
NITE!:yawn:

Dear friends,
I am going to respond back to most of this weeks posts as best I can. There has been certain events that I don't want to overlook.
Before I do, I did want to share my lab results.....
6/6/01 - cholestrol 211
tryglycerides 245
12/12/00 - cholestrol 233
triglycerides 328
Even though both improved, I was hoping for numbers to be a little bit lower:( The Dr said he isn't concerned, but that if my numbers are still high when I am 45, then he may want to put me on meds!!!!!!! I better start going steady with the ol TM!!!!! :eek:
I will say, it has been a struggle for me to get on TM 2 -3 times a week. I got on TM four times in a week, 5/14-5/18. That was the first and last time I had done that since 3/29. The past month though, I have been doing ALOT of yard & garden work too, and I really had to pace this bod of mine. For this 38 yo body, it's been put through the wringer a couple times. Adhesives from abdominal surgeries will always remind I they are there when I have pushed it to the limit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starchaser - {{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}} Lots of hugs to you losing dear Bogart. I am also one of those people that doesn't look at my pets as animals, but as my children. We all are here for you when you have rough times while you deal with him being gone. Just remember, in body he isn't here, but just look into your heart and you will feel the warmth and love you always got from him. You will always have that. I too battle with depression from time to time, so I can understand how all you have been dealt with recently can do a number on you. Just take each day as it comes, and you will begin to feel the sun shine for you. I am thankful your house was not harmed. Please keep all of us informed on your foot, any WOE issues, and how you are feeling over all.
Sef - Thanks for the information on swimming for exercising. I will have to get a good workout next time I am at IL's.
UFgirl - Big welcome to the board. Sounds like you have gotten off to a good start since last Friday. I know you will like it here. You can really learn alot, not to mention pick up some educational Jewish terms as well:lol:
Iceskatefan - Good luck with the truckers and construction workers:D
Viv, dahling - It's good to see you posting again. I am sorry that work is getting to you a bit. Then thinking about the arrival of the ILs probably doesn't help either, huh??? Keep reminding yourself that it is for just a couple of days ( I hope ), then you will have your serenity back in your humble adobe.
Ralynne99 - Welcome to the board. I am sure you will get lots of great advice from the working moms on the board.
Deb - Ok, no I am not lazy, really.... ny garden is planted on the lot next door, which is owned by my family. Sometimes I walk over to it, when I am just watering ( which I haven't had to do that in over a week!!! ). But when I am gonna pull weeds, I usually ride the golf cart, and bring my water along, Beau, and I carry my tools of the trade in the little "flatbed" that's on my golf cart. Thanks for mentioning to let you know about my labs:) Every day, after I read how you walked in the heat and humidity, I give you a virtual pat on the back. At the same time, I do worry you won't pass out, fall in the street to be run over by some lunatic.......PLEASE BE CAREFUL as the summer gets brutal.
Kim - Soooooo, you indulged in some yummy white choc covered pretzels. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!! You are human, and a VERY SWEET one at that. We all know that there is only ONE perfect person on this board.....THE SUPERCHICK, herself!!!!!!! Oh.... and re-read the quote at the bottom of my post, my dear friend.
Karen - Have a great time on your camping trip this weekend. My version of camping consists of staying in my IL's motorhome equipted w/a bathroom and good ol' AC!!!!!!
Well, I think I will wrap up this post. I know I may have overlooked some posts.... I didn't go back to the beginning of the week. I am thinking of everyone, though. I am thankful for all of you and the wisdom you all share. Sweet dreams, ladies....
Deb - cute gif, but heres one you really need!!!!
GATORGAL - Thanx for the help. I will have to try it out and see what I come up with. Deb also sent me some info. Everyone is so nice here!
NANCE - Would like to take the credit for the kickboard tip, but I can't! It was VIV. She deserves the credit.
ICESKATE - Sounds like you are enjoying the conference. Are the three of you sharing a room? Supposed to be safety in numbers. I can sing in rhythm but can not transfer that rhythm to my feet!!!! Would love to learn dances. As a teenager, I took ballroom dancing but was not good.
VIV - You need to take a deeeeeeeeeep breath, put on a smile and say the "h---- with it all; like Popeye, I am what I am". You have things in order, so let the inlaws and chips fall where they may! And make some time for you, YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!
UFGIRL - Welcome. I have not been here long, but have found everytone to be friendly and helpful. Enjoy your sisiter's visit. Are you going to hang out for the summer or do you have plans?
Oh! Before I forget!! (Remember the age factor!!) I was in Winn Dixie this morning and read the labels on the sausage I was telling you about. The sausage is a Winn Dixie brand. I looked for one of those "made for......by...." and there was none. If
you have a Winn Dixie I would ask the manager, The corporate office is in Jacksonville, Fla.
RALYNNE99 - Welcome to the board. You'll find a great group that is very supportive!
SERAPHIM - Hooray!! One pound at a time, but hey it's going not coming! Hope all went well with the internist! Where were you? On the back forty? You need a golf cart? I'm impressed!
FROG - Wonderful! Wonderful! 4# is Wonderful! Will miss your spewer stories. She is so annoying but good for a laugh in the telling, or at least in the way you tell it!
TIGGER - Now that you mention it, I have noticed that I am not as hungry as I was. Never gave it much thought. Of course, I haven't reached the point where a plum and chicken breast do it!
CHERI45 - I like your philosophy. Live for today, tomorrow may never come, is right! I'm not ready to be seen in public in a swimsuit. Thank God we have our little pool.
BOB - Love the cartoon! I don't think your scale is complaining so much!
QUILTER - Hey! He who is without sin can cast the first stone. I couldn't pick up one to throw as I've been there, done that. So have others. Just have o pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!! (I often talk in song.) Will answer your letter. Today is NH day and try to save the things that were in
the garage fridge day, when itdecided it couldn't keep up with our LA heat! So I've been chopping, dicing and cooking all afternoon.
KAREN3000 - I too love sherbet if you find any let me know! Enjoy camping trip! Me I want room service!
SPARKLE - We all say the same thing! But at least it's a down number and not an up one!
DEB - I am going to try to remember the words of wisdom on that 1 POUND! we all gripe about!
Gee I did them all I think.
Such a busy day. Am going to put my feet up and start a new cross stitch project.
Nite all!
Here is your tongue lashing from FROG! (I'll try to go gentle! :) )
Now I know that a coworker brought those yummy chocolate covered pretzels into the office and that they were tempting, however... GIRL! Where is your "won't" power?!? :?: Someone else may have been repsonsible for bringing them in there, but only you are responsible for putting them in your mouth. And to think that you ate more then one, forshame!! :eek:
I am not one of those people to offer criticism, even when solicited without offering some advice to go along with it, so here it is... WALK AWAY FROM THAT STUFF! :nono: If you are tempted by it, don't go near where it is, stay outta that break room! If you can't avoid the location, picture it as a container of "Frog's X-Tra Toxic RAT POISON!" I pictured all those sweets as beautifully done trays of poison, because sugar and white flower do just that to me, they poison me! They make me sick, they are toxic to my system and have a lasting, permanent, disabling effect! That is what got me through the holidays. Tell yourself that you are strong, that you don't NEED those worthless temptations and don't allow others to participate in sabotaging your diet! Got it? Good! Now go out there and be strong!!!
Hope that helps get you whipped back into shape.
:wave:
Peace,
Frog
WHOO HOO to all the "losers" this week. I just want you all to know that I think I know where is is going...on me!!! I havebeen trying to stay OP, but I have to admit...when they put food in front of you...you eat it. MOst of the lunches are salads, but the deserts are HARD to resist...pecan pie...Now, who can resist that when it placed in front of you:?:
For the past three nights we have seen a police car parked at the front of the hote. That has given us a two-fold feeling...one, we feel a little safer knowing that he is there, but two...what kind of place has to have a police car parked in front of it
:eek:
Congrats to all of you who had such great losses this week.
I want to share an inspiring post by a chick at my other forum:
Posted by newbie Hula902:
"Once I was at the shapeshakers website I checked out the other areas as well. Your personal story is truly inspiring! And you look GREAT! After reading through how Sugar Busters has been such a success for you as well as the other gal, I think her name was Rissa(?) I actually went out today and purchased the Sugar Busters book as well as the little shoppers guide. I am going to start reading them tonight. I am really excited about trying this and I can only hope that I will be as successful as you! You rock!
Side note: my "plan" for losing weight began very successfully today, but I think that encorporating the Sugar Busters methods will help things along even better. Ok, well I am off to start reading, talk to you later!"
****
I finally got back to the gym today after 1 1/2 weeks of slacking!!!! I feel SO much better. Was starting to be tired all the time again. Only did 2 miles on the treadmill, but it was sweaty!
Last week my and Martin's bikes got stolen out of the locked garage, if I didn't mention. Somebody cut the metal door open and wheeled them out. (They weren't locked) It was really hairy for a few days. Martin got a spiffy new Mongoose, and I had to get the flat tire on my old bike (which they left!) fixed which took two days. I would ride the bus to work and walk home. I feel GREAT now that I got my bike fixed up again! Freedom! And also I thought it was pretty cool that I wasn't all freaked out over it, I would really be stressed out by stuff like that before. Now, I'm like, it's only THINGS. (Although I loved that brand-new Mongoose.)
I am definitely going to DC/NC at the end of July and would love to lose some weight by then! As I said, I have been rather stalled lately but today I am finally starting to feel motivated to kick things into high gear.
More later, I have to go out soon.
Love,
Chris
Not gonna "kvetch" today! I was a total goober yesterday and actually called a radio station to try to win tickets to -- are you ready for this????..............WWF Smackdown tickets...........AND WON!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I felt like such a teeny-bopper goober big time! My office mate and other co-workers in the nearby offices promise that I sounded okay on the radio. Vince is a WWF fan and the show is the day before his birthday so to say he's thrilled is an understatement. It will be quite the experience for me. :eek:
I couldn't stand it this morning so I weighed again and I was down one more pound from yesterday! I'm hoping it will continue to go down so I have even better news to post next week.
Someone mentioned swimming. A friend of mine has a strap thingy that goes on her ankle and attaches to the side of the pool. She swims "laps" without going anywhere in her small pool. I saw the devices advertised somewhere on the web. If I can find them again I'll post the link for anyone who might be interested.
VIV - So glad you found your post!! You seem to be handling everything in stride - nothing's more frustrating that selling someone on something and the rest of your co-workers falling down on the job. I had to leave a job because of that. Going home crying every night was no good for me. Thankfully I'm at a WONDERFUL company now! So you husband is in TV? Very cool! What does he do? Imagine the fun you, GATORGAL and I could have -- 3 SB Chicks in one area - Scary!! If your friend wants/needs more information or a contact feel free to have them e-mail me. I have a list of property mgmt companies/phones/contact names in the area that I have worked with in the past. I can recommend a couple of realtors also if they are going to buy right off the bat. As for exercise - I'm using a personal trainer at GATORGAL's gym. I weight train - pretty aggressively - at least 3x/week and I walk at 3.5 mph for at least 30 min. 3x/week. I'm VERY faithful to the weight training and pretty darn faithful to the walking although I don't always get 3x in, but usually end up doing something pretty equivalent like push mowing the yard (not self-propelled) and gardening/raking/sweeping and such. Diet Rite is sweetened with Splenda. I had the can here to type up the ingredients for you, but forgot and threw it away. :( I can't stand to drink water with my meals and it's the one time I drink soda all day. I usually don't end up drinking the whole can either. You'd think at that rate I could save some $$ and just drink water. :rolleyes:
DEBBIE - I say, "Go for it!!" What's the worse that could happen? You don't like it and let it grow out or have them change it a little? :D You'd be an adorable blonde! What's Eli's vote? That would be the most important vote. :) Thanks for the info on the emotional eating. My biggest problem had been eating when I wasn't hungry, but because it was time to eat or not wanting to eat "simple" foods, but rather feeling like I had to "fix" something. Plain 'ole turkey samich with veggie slices sounded soooooo BORING, but I'm getting better at that. If nothing else, it's easier to keep up with the calories and such. I just started using www.fitday.com so I'll be able to get a better picture of things. I wish there was some way to copy portions of one day to another day for those things you do and eat every day. Thanks for the one pound posting -- I should re-word my post from yesterday......."HOORAY! We're knocking 'em down one at a time!"
NANCE - That book sounds great! Please do keep us updated on it. I'll probably check it out meeeself. Glad I'm not the only one who ends up humoring myself and leaving others wondering what the heck is going on in my head! :lol: They just don't know what they're missing, do they?
RAYLNNE - Welcome to the board!! You'll find TONS of great information on those links at the top of the thread (the very first post of the week). DEBBIE does a great job keeping those links in all one place for us to refer to as needed. There's a wealth of knowledge among these awesome ladies as well.
AMSERAPHIM - WOO HOO!!! Way to go!!! That gardening sounds like just as hard work as the TM! You dance pretty darn well! Great news on the cholesterol tests, too! Hopefully I'll be able to join that losers club, too. Mine is scheduled for the first week in July. When you mentioned "labs" in your post to Debbie I thought you were talking about your dog. :lol: True dog lover over here.
GATORGAL - Thanks for the info. I have been averaging about 1300 calories per day. The day I posted was more than I normally eat, but figured it was the worse day all week, which was why I picked that one. I do think that 1300 calories might be too few calories for me and that might be why I'm not losing so I'm going to try upping my calories for a little while - what's the worse that could happen? I gain a few pounds? Well, then I'm right back where I started. Trying the 1000 - 1300 calorie days for 2 months hasn't done anything. I've only lost 4 pounds in 3 months. That's just not acceptable for all the effort I've been putting into this. I've got to try something else. NOW, we need to talk about the GATORS STEALING our #1 Baseball Coach from Mississippi State University!!!! THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!! It had to be a major bribe because NUTHIN beat baseball Mississippi State Style!!
FROG - Anytime you just HAVE to share a story, please feel free to e-mail me!! We won't mention the "S" word anymore on here. Don't need to add soap opera situations to anyone's life. <grin>
TIGGERME - CONGRATS on the Loss!! Thanks for the WebMD site, too! I'm using Fitday, but always enjoy checking out other sites.
BOB - <Doing the cabbage patch dance> - "GO BOB!! GO BOB!!!" AWESOME!!!! Loved the scale pic, too!
QUILTER - Okay, I feel left out! Now I'm going to have to check out these movies you and NANCE-MEISTER keep talking about. They sound like chick-flicks - do I need to view these on a guys night out? I'm surprised, too, that they haven't been more concerned with law enforcement PR in your area. Please let me know what you find out - I'm quite curious! Thanks for the info on the flowers - I'd love to grow echinacea. It sounds so pretty!
KAREN - I've been on the lookout for some SF sherbet too! If I find some I'll certainly share.
SPARKLE - Awesome news!!!
ICESKATEFAN - Sure hope you gals make it out of there okay! I'd have the same ambivalent feelings - "Hmmmmm, police car out front - good thing? Bad thing? " At least they don't have far to go if they're needed! The dance lessons sound like fun! I'd love to learn the Cajun 2-step. Cajun music is one of my favorites!!! Every time someone tried to teach me line dancing I would always end up facing the completely wrong way when everyone turned! :lol:
:wave: to everyone!!
Good Morning!
I got my butt up out of bed at 5:00am. and WALKED with Dan the man!! Feel much better about myself, since I didn't have a loss to post. Thought for sure I would as much as I was going to the bathroom yesterday, but I'm expecting my TOM. Will probably have a loss to post next week!
RalynneWELCOME WELCOME !!!!! You will find much inspriation and good friends here on the board. I'd suggest re-reading the book, if it's been a while, it will get you motivated.
Amseraphim
That's great your down another pound!!!!! Congratulations :)
Deb
Yes...I found my half.com coupon, it was on my computer at work!!! I ordered my book, and I already got my confirmation, so soon I will have my very own copy!! I didn't have time to look at the site because I had to get back to work, but it looks like it could be DANGEROUS:s:
FROG and BOB
WOW, DOUBLE WOW!!!!! 4 pounds is awesome. You both must have been THRILLED!!! I know I would have! Looks like you two will be at the front driving the wagon!
Frog...P.S.-You can send us Spewer stories to our e.mail address and put us a the "Spewer Stories Group" in your address book!
I am with you on Vegas. I'm happy to shack up with someone, particularly BOB so I can buzz in her ear all night long buzzzz, buzzzz, buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!As far as the spa stuff goes....Just to be away from the kids and sit poolside with a drink in my hand, with no one around to say "MOM' 50 times in one hour, would be good enough for me! Who are you kidding, you would see the tension magically dissappear from my face!
Tiggerme
You need to eat more to keep your metabolism up. You need to think of your stomach as a fireplace, and that the fireplace is your metabolism, and food is the wood. If you don't eat enough, the fire will die down low, hince your metabolism will slow down. Keep a constant fire burning by eating small frequent meals.
Hope that made sense!;)
Cheri
I love swimming too! I wish we had our own pool, but for now, I'm glad I have access to one at MOMS!
Quilter
You and I are girlfriend soul mates, no doubt about it!
I have ALL of Peter Mayles books, including his new one (VIV's hip to it!) that I can't wait to read!!! I LOVED the videos, and check them out ALL THE TIME from the library! I agree the Emma Thompson is just like I would imagine Jane to be. Do you know there is a Jane Austen cookbook! One of my other all time favorite movies is "Room with a View" with Helena Bonham Carter.
If you come to Vegas, we'll have to room together so we can stay up talking about how we were probably proper English woman friends in a past life :)
Karen
Hope you have a great time camping. Take it from me, plan ahead. Then when you think you've got your food list all planned, bring more! I brough up fresh fruit and the kids had eaten it all within the first 3 hours we were at our campsite!
ldblond
If you are lurking, I hope your emergency surgery #2 went o.k. I am going to call you at a decent time this morning to check in on you!!! Hope you did o.k.!
I can't believe when I get up and exercise, I actually seem to have more time in the morning. I like, I like. Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to these 4 days off. Last time I had off was for my wedding to Dan the Man last October, and that seems like a long, long time ago!
I wanted to post a little something from the book I'm reading...
"So how do you flip the switch to get to the point where you desire to be thin outweighs your desire to engage in the behaviors that keep you from being thin? How do you get yourself to give up something pleasureable, such as being able to eat whatever you want whenever you like, or sitting around watching tv rather than exercising, to get something more pleasureable: being thin? In many cases, the masters seem to do a mental about-face and go from being passive victims of their weight problems to being in control."
The first thing I thought about when I read this was about the Doctors Office I work in, and when I used to do Nursing. You can't believe all the excuses people would come up with when they needed to be couseled about their weight. At that time, I was thinner, a single mom, blah, blah blah..and I would tell the patients who were him-hawing "If a full-time working single Mom can find time to exercise, so can you!" When I read that last sentence about being passive victims to taking control, and being accountable it just hit me. That's what it's all about. I'm sure many of you know all the excuses you USED to make before starting this program, and it's lies that we tell ourselves, and the greatest power is when we FINALLY realize, we can change, and achieving our goals is POSSIBLE!!!!! It's going to happen dag-nab-it, for all of us! Sure it will happen at different times, but that way, we can individually celebrate everyone's victories! You girls are the BOMB!!!!!!:D
Hey Everyone!:wave:
:eek: The kids are out and already cutting into my morning computer time! Oh no, I don't like this in the least bit!
Finally got out and did my 4.5 miles this morning. Had to push myself to go out and had a lot more excuses not to go than to go, but really pushed myself to find a reason to go, and once out there, was glad I went-the heat definitely makes me go slower. I won't do any jogging within the walking when it's so hot, just not worth doing it at this time of the year.
AMSER, glad to see your numbers have gone down, and hope they continue to do so. I must admit, I AM lazy and probably wouldn't even do the garden work, so I give you a lot of credit. Actually, I'd be the one driving the cart all over the place, too darn hot to walk around! Thanks for the pat on the back for walking, after reading the post this morning, that was on my list of one of the reasons I should walk today. Oh, and the drivers down here, I dodge them daily, I would just be an easier target if I fell down in front of them! Just wait, you'll get a taste of them when you come down here!:eek: I have that gif, but thanks, I really need to find one of someone barfing in the toilet for those really good days I have!:lol:
SEF, hope you were able to find some cute gifs and jpgs in what I sent you-I know you can spend HOURS looking for stuff in those sites!!
FROG, I like what you said to QUILTER about "WON'T POWER". I just told her I'd come up and whip her butt!!!
ICESKATE, as much as I like a good pecan pie, I can definitely say "NO" to it at this time. You asked WHO COULD SAY NO, I can.;) I've been to dinners where dessert is put right in front of my face (like when it comes with the meal and everyone gets the same thing) and I ask them to box it up immediately, or if they don't bring it right away, and it comes with the meal, I'll ask if I can substitute fresh fruit, or again, I'll tell them to box it up and I take it home. You can be stronger than that, it's not like there wil never be another opportunity in your life to eat pecan pie, so say no now, so you can say yes sometime later in the future. BUT, since you ate it already, just think of this in the future when this problem arises again, and it will!
SPARKLE, it's nice to see you are inspiring others to follow a healthy lifestyle through your site-CONGRATS!:) Sorry, to hear about the bikes, that sure does suck!
SOL, hey, great bday present you got for Vince. I'm sure you sounded great on the radio and not like a goober (what the heck is a goober??). When Lauren won NSYNC tickets on the radio, well, lets just say she was hysterically screaming, and crying! Congrats on another pound, you'll get there, don't you worry. I got your e-mail, just give me a little time to work on a return:) As for the blond, Eli says the same, go for it. For the fitday, put foods you eat in your CUSTOM FOODS, that makes it really easy.
NANCE, you go girl! Getting up at that ungodly hour to walk with your main man, that's wonderful! Thanks for posting that excerpt from the book. Sorry I missed our usual morning chat:(
KAREN, thanks for the link to that article, have to find some time to read it, looks interesting.
Gotta run, Lauren is going to help her drama teacher clean out the drama room.
Will check in with you all later and post a couple recipes!
OK BOB--You got my attention! Congrats on the 4 pounds. If Fla beats UT, what will you do. Do we have a little, ahem, wager for this game. How about something that would make the game more interesting. For you, that is. It will be boring for me because we are going to just score and score and score and . . . .
Let’s see, It would be great to see you post a gator gif for a whole week, that’s 7 days! If the planets should become confused and UT wins, then I guess I can find some UT gifs. But that won’t happen, my friend.
HEY Chris. wonderful about the pound loss. Read Debbie’s post about “Just one pound.” So every pound is significant. I always enjoy reading your posts. I can see that you have an interest in writing.
TIGGER--I know what you mean about not being hungry. I ate lunch about 1:30 this afternoon, and had to force myself to eat. I definitely want to keep enough calories. If I don’t I think my body stops losing. The trick for me is to keep just the right amount coming in--not too much or too little. The too much part has always been the hardest part in the past because I didn’t stick with the program long enough, or I wasn’t keeping close tabs on how much I was REALLY eating. I was never good about estimating. I always gave myself the benefit of the doubt and was off (over) by 200-300 calories).
SolShine--Re the Fitday site, you can enter things you eat really regularly into the “Custom foods” at the bottom of the list on the food page. Then just click on what you ate from that list, adjust the portions if need be, and voila, it is entered.
Whoa--I hadn’t heard about the baseball coach switch. I knew that the UF bb coach left, but I didn’t know who they were recruiting. Well, he will LOVE Gainesville, and there’s some great football and basketball for him to watch if he wants. LOL
Nance--Interesting article you posted, along with your comments. One of the main things that got my attention was the MM post of Debelli’s about a month ago. It dealt with self discipoine. It was probably the best explanation of SD that I had read and when I thought about it, I realized that I actually had no self discipline. Or, was exercising no self discipline. I certainly didn’t like that assessment of myself, and so set about doing something about it. Part of that quote: “The powerful tool of self discipline is yours to use whenever you’re ready to start living life on your own terms.”
BTW, hope you like fitday. If your computer is slow, like my old one was, then it is not as simple to use, because you have to wait a ton of time for the pages to load up. Otherwise, it is a snap.
Well, last night was my first class in learning to speak French. I think I’m gonna like it! Since it is a choice of mine to take it, and in fact I organized this class, I certainly expect to like it.
CATLOVER--You will be interested to know that I took a golf lesson today. He is starting on the part where you get the ball into the hole, so we started with putting and some chipping. Now I know why the golfers walk up to the hole and look down, like they are seeing if there is a ball someone forgot to get out of it or something!! LOL So I have something to practice on this week besides my French. The pro is Dave Ragan III, who is the son of the Dave Ragan of golf legend. I even took some notes so I won’t forget certain things to work on when I go out to practice. I have a lesson scheduled for next week too.
Deb--Re the caloric intake. No, I take no offense at your comments. That’s what makes this a great board; we can have spirited discussions about an eating lifestyle, and not get all in a huff if someone offers a different opinion. Only once was there a flame put up on this board, and it wrecked a little havoc. But I always appreciate what you have to say, and consider it closely. I will offer this on our discussion re. calories and weight: Actually, weight may not really be a good indicator of how many calories we burn at rest, or basal metabolism. A lighter person with more muscle would burn more at rest than a heavier person with more fat, because fat has a lower metabolic rate than muscle. That is the principle behind weight training. Build muscle and burn more calories per pound. That is why, perhaps, SolShine could eat 1300 with no harm. She probably needs to check with the trainer at the gym. I definitely am no expert in this. Probably her plan to up her calories a bit is a good idea, as each of us need to experiment to see what works best for us.
SolShine, Jim told me today that next month he is getting in a machine that will measure metabolic rate. I’ll be interested in that. I think I have some muscle underneath all this fat, so am curious how much I burn.
I actually weighed again today. I usually don’t do that, but I’m down another pound. Happy me. I’m on two weeks of 1100 calories, and have 1.5 weeks to go.
Well, there’s a thunder storm outside, so I think I’ll post this. I’m typing on my word processing program, so won’t take the time to custom it with colors or anything. Just copy and paste and then I’m off. Have a great day, y’all.
Bye, BOB, and go Gators!!
Here's another article I came across this afternoon that might be of interest.
Boost Your Metabolism Into Orbit!
Losing Weight Is The Product Of A Simple Chemistry Equation
Michael Scholtz, M.A. Nutrio.com Team
Losing weight is the product of a simple chemistry equation. Burn more calories than you consume. Sounds simple, right? But, as you may know, in the real world it can be much more complicated and frustrating. Every day we see new ways of burning calories quickly with less effort. Concoctions, pills, and special exercises designed to "boost" your metabolism offer the promise of easy weight loss at every turn.
Here's the real truth: Physical activity is the only real way to boost metabolism and increase calorie burn!
The first (and most obvious) benefit of physical activity is that you burn calories while you do it. Physical movement goes a long way toward achieving a negative caloric balance -- burning more than you eat. For instance, walking 3 miles a day, 3-5 days per week, totals approximately 1000-1500 calories per week -- enough to lose about 15-22 pounds per year!
While any movement burns extra calories, the quickest and most efficient way is through planned exercise. Think of your body as a car. Instead of the fuel efficient model, you want to be a calorie guzzler. The sports car with a bigger more powerful engine burns up fuel much faster than the economy model. Increase your fitness and you increase the size of your engine. Your heart and muscles do more work and require more fuel. For instance, at first you may walk for 40 minutes and cover 2 miles, burning 230 calories (a 170 pound person walking 3.0 mph). With a more powerful engine you may be able to jog for 40 minutes and burn 420 calories (a 170 pound person jogging at 11.5 minutes per mile)!
Take the car metaphor one step further. It's no secret that "stop and go" driving wreaks havoc with fuel efficiency. Constantly accelerate and decelerate and you will burn more fuel than if you hold a steady, conservative pace. Interval training is the fitness version of "stop and go" driving. Rev up your engine for a few minutes and then slow down to recover. The higher intensity will keep your metabolic rate higher -- even after your workout is over.
Exercise also affects calorie burn by increasing (or preserving) muscle mass. Without exercise your weight loss may actually harm your metabolic rate by losing 10-30 percent of your weight from valuable muscle mass! Each pound of muscle is worth about 35-50 calories, compared to fat, which is practically inert. Gaining 2-3 pounds of muscle during a 3-4 month resistance-training program is very realistic, even while losing weight. That muscle gain is worth 7-15 pounds of fat weight loss per year.
HELLO Everyone!!
As promised, here's my meals for today. Actually, I'm still eating dinner, but chances are good that I'll clean my plate.
Breakfast:
1/2 c sliced strawberries (don't no numbers on fruits and veggies)
4 oz. yogurt, non-fat, no sugar (55 cal, 0 fat, 5 sugar)
Supper
BIG Salad consisting of:
lettuces, cauliflower, gr. pepper, etc.
1/2 can white tuna (87.5 cal, 1.25 fat, 0 sugar)
1 T sunflower seeds (33 cal, 2 fat, less that .5 sugars)
1 T almond slivers (???)
1/2 serv Feta cheese (40 cal, 6 fat, 0 sugars)
2 T ranch dressing (130 cal, 14 fat, 1 sugar) Ouch, I think I need to go back to my lemon juice on salads.
That's it for today. I may have a serving of skim milk before bed. But that will be it . . . promise!!! Oh, and as for the choc covered pretzels . . . I gave them the cold shoulder ALL day. Only looked at them once this morning when I put them on top of the fridge in an out of site spot.
Now I have to go back and read all the posts. I think I'm still on Mondays. Sorry gals, you miss one night and it's hopeless to catch up. I hope everybody had great days today. With sunny skies and happy feet.
Take care.
I'm on a mission of finding us some good deals on packages for LV. BUT I MUST TELL EVERYONE....It's more EXPENSIVE to go on the WEEKEND opposed to during the week...like Monday thru Thurs....or maybe even checking out on Thursday...
The California gals might be the only ones to benefit from the $199 prices...I've looked so far from Miamo, Orlando and Tampa
RT for two....anywhere from $600 + upward to over $1000...
BUT NEVER FEAR, BOB IS ON THE TRAIL.....
Evening All:wave:
Thought I better climb on the board before we hit the hay tonight. Poor Eli didn't fall into bed until 4am and was up again at 7am! Poor guy looks like the walking dead. He has to be at work at 5am tomorrow, so it's to beddy bye early tonight.
Will be taking Lauren and possibly Michael to the mall tomorrow, she needs a bathing suit. I am NOT looking forward to this shopping trip!:eek:
GATOR, I do believe it's good for SOL to up her calories at this point. It doesn't hurt to try and like you said, what works for one may not work for another. Whatever works for you, you do. Sounds like you are doing well, down another pound-CONGRATS!!!
KAREN, great article, thanks so much for sharing it with us!!!
QUILTER, good for you to be stronger than the desire for those pretzels. Hope you enjoyed your bath-told Paul he should of hopped in there with you!:lol: You had about 50 grams of fat today, which I think is just fine for you at this time. You need more fiber and a little more fruit though. Keep up the great work!
BOB, there are companies that have great deals from Miami to Las Vegas, they're in the Sunday paper every week and like I said, $169-$199 for a nice hotel. I'm open weekdays or weekends, whatever is best for the majority. Definitely the CA and TX people get great rates. When I went to meet my penpal in August, they got a deal for $99 from Houston! Stayed in Circus Circus. I'm going to rent a car, possibly a van, depending on how many of us there are-what do you think?? Extra suitcases are a MUST, for tripS to TJ's!!!!
Okay gals, I didn't have time to post the recipes I wanted to, forgive me will ya?:?: I'll try to do a couple tomorrow evening.
Have a wonderful evening!
GATORGAL - Its a weird one. my.webmd.com. I decide I like this one much more then Fitday but thats just my opinion. I like they way it tells me how many calories a day I need and just how much of everything else. As I put in my food it lets me know just how many calories are left to eat. This I need since I am not eating my required calories. Go check it out :smug:
Hi All!!!!!! :wave: I am lurking per usual! I have had a busy week the kids are getting ready to get out of school and they have their stuff and my daughters Dance recital is finally this week end! maybe i can post a pic of the little darling! So i am running around like crazy. The weather up here has also turned and it is hot hot hot:o I like it and won't complain i can wear my little sun dresses this week end! Hubby will probably be crossed eyed all week end but he will get over it! Does anyone else have that problem? now that your are shrinking and your taste in clothes does change is your partner just looking at you with lust! LOL i know its a good thing but he kinda gets on my nerves! I am by far not dressing like a "hussy" but i feel more comfortable in the up to date stuff now and I can wear them (thats what i tell him!) He says '"you never wore shirts like that before" or whatever! I actually fourn a strapless bra that holds the girls up!!! lol anyway enough about that. I guess i just have to put him in his place!
Didn't weigh on Wendsday going to tomorrow. I had TOM arrive a week early what is up with that? soooo i am not expecting miracles i hope just the same!LOL Party at work tonight -i did have some fresh white bread it looked good
:mad: and a peice of my desert i made which i had planned on having. They had Friendly sundeas i brought mine home! Excersised 4 times this week sooooo that helps too.
Thanks for all the thoughts on my walk. I thought it was nice that it was televised too! Its good for the cancer stricken people who can not get out there to see it for them selves. i know one "team" taped it for a sick friend. I think we raised over $800,000.00 for Cancer!
I have read all the replys and am to lazy to go back and reply to you all (hey i am honest!) its like 80 degrees and i am tired!
Deb i see that 129 is still there! wooooo hoooooooo. You all are doing sooooo awsome so many lossed and accomlishments! I hope once the kids are out of school i have more time to motivate more. Thanks all for the welcome. I'm doing pretty good so far and I've reread sections of the book, but not the whole thing again yet. I also have 1 SB cookbook that my mother bought for me for X-mas.
Haven't lifted weights in a couple of days, but doing my squats and walking. Somedays are just too difficult to do. Baby isn't sleeping well and with it getting so light outside even at 10pm I have a hard time getting to sleep. Then getting up at 5:30 am, I'm kinda pooped out.
Were always so busy working on our house too that I just get drained on somedays. This weekend were tearing down our old deck and replacing and then sunday for Father's Day we are going down the river tubing with friends. Looking forward to the relaxing and does anyone have any suggestions for any (alchohol) drinks that we can drink that aren't full of sugar. I can't stand sweet drinks and I prefer beer and I know that's a NO NO. It would be nice to drinka few going down the river and relaxing on sunday.
Finally, I got on the board. I've really been having trouble lately. I wrote this post on Wednesday, and this is the first time I've been able to post. More later, after I catch up.
Good Wednesday Morning! With all that's been going on and my not so right on eating habits, I thought I'd be up, but I'm down 1 lb. YIPEE!
Sparklescamp: Hope you feel better.
UFgirl: Welcome! We have some teachers here and then there's me who pays the teacher's in my district. You seem to be right on your way to a healthier lifestyle of eating habits and weight loss. This group is super supportive and our leader Deb is the absolute best. Ask questions, post concerns, whatever you like, we are right here for you.
iceskatefan: I'm glad you made it safely through the bad weather. Your conference sounds really interesting. Stay safe in that hotel, fortunatley there are 4 of you that can stick together. Have a great time dancing!
Solshine: I'm sorry for your frustration, but 1lb is better than going back up. I hope your Dr. has some ideas on what might be keeping your loss from happening. Are you drinking lots of water?
We had a thank you ice cream treat yesterday at work and guess what, they had sf ice cream and toppings! I was really impressed and enjoyed the treat without the cheat.
My daughter had an awards ceremeony today...she's in 1st grade and was read/read to 244 books not on school hours! I'm so proud. Her Daddy and I both were able to get off work for a little while and go to the ceremony, which was a great suprise to her!
Good Friday Morning Everyone:wavel:
Just got in from my walk, did the usual 4.5 miles with 7 jogs, it's getting hotter each day here, no matter how early/late I go, it's just soooo hot!
Before I continue to forget, MELF e-mailed me a few days ago and wanted me to let everyone know that they returned home, but upon her return, found her computer crashed, so she wanted you to all know that she will be back on the board as soon as they get it fixed.
Going to go get ready to take Lauren to the mall, please pray for me that I get through this day without having a coronary!!!:eek:
TOM is arriving today, so the scale is slightly up, not a problem, I know it's just temporary.
SPARKLE, congrats on making the scale go in the right direction-you go girl!!!
RHROO, I don't have the shrinking clothes problem, everything I buy has elastic in the waist, or the shirts are bigger than what I need, I don't believe I will ever wear anything form fitting, I hate things that lay or hug my fat rolls. I may be at goal, but it sure doesn't mean I have a good body! I've had my period show up a week early a few months ago, and lately, it's been coming every 27 days-not sure why this happens.
RALYNNE, sounds like you are truly busy and all the work you are doing on the house does constitute exercise, just not cardio, like walking. Gosh, tubing sounds soooo fun and relaxing! Try to forgo the alcohol, it's just not worth it. I suggest some sparkling water with a twist of lemon/lime in it. Remember, you don't need food or alcohol to have a good time :) But of course, the final decision is ultimately up to you.
LDBLOND, CONGRATS on another pound down!! Congrats to your daughter as well, it's wonderful that she loves to read at such an early age! I'm sure Mom and Dad have been a great force in helping her do that!
Okay gals, time for me to unstink myself. I'll check in with you all this evening.
Hope you all have a wonderful upcoming weekend!!!
Hi all:
Sorry I missed wiw. I didnt get on the scale, no reason, just didnt feel like it.
I am having a hard time coping right now. This will be the 1st fathers day w/o my dad. He passed away in October and Im still having a hard time dealing with it. Weve been pretty close all my life. Ive been staying op which is the good news. I am trying to get more into exercise. I just finished mowing my front,back, and 2 side yards before it go too hot out there.
Congrats to all you losers on Wednesdays and those that stayed the same also. You gainers well it will happen. Welcome to Ralynne99 and Ufgirl and anyone other newbies. This is a fine place to learn and get inspiration, and helpful hints.
Gator- good for you on the golf lessons. Take it from me putting and chipping are the most important part of golf. Most of golfing is the short game (which I am trying to master). My instructor started out with the fundamentals of golf, and getting us acquainted with the golf club (toe,heel,shaft,etc). Then we proceeded to just hit balls, the last lesson was chipping and putting. It gets fun when you finally leave the driving range and proceed to actually playing the game of golf. Is your dh excited you are taking lessons? Of course the driving range is an important part also. Thats were you perfect your swing,stance,etc.... Now you can watch the US Open with your hubbie this weekend and watch how the pro's do it. Its pretty interesting.
Well gotta go for now. I will try and catch up with everyone later. Im still reading earlier posts.
Hello Everyone--I'm back from my trip to New York to see some wonderful news on the board!
First--Congrats to Deb for reaching goal!!!!!! I'll do the happy dance for you!
It seems that a lot of other folks have broken through stalls to some good losses--BOB--wooohooo! Sparkle--woohoo to you too! Amserapham--did I read that you'd reached a new low too? If so the woohoo goes out to you! To everyone else congrats--I've read through four pages of the board this morning, so everything is running together.
New York was a blast! We saw Les Miz and the Lion King as well as the American Ballet Theater at Lincoln Center. If you were watching Good Morning America on Tuesday, we were in the studio audience for the last hour of the show and were on camera a couple of times. My niece was really excited because she was on MTV's TRL Monday afternoon--let me tell you the fun I had standing in that crowd with all the tenny-boppers! We took in a Yankees game on Saturday and, of course, went to the top of the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Oh yes--and then there was the shopping. I didn't buy any clothes for me because we mostle shopped for my niece. Plus, when I went to the large sice dept--it was all winter clothers--ick--who knows what size I'll be by then?
I really enjoyed spending the time with my 13 year-old niece and I looking forward to taking her sister when she turns 13 in a few years.
I did ok eating OP. I had a few illegal carbs, but with all the walking we did, felt they wouldn't hurt too badly. I didn't really go for sweets (well except that one slice of real NY cheesecake) and when I got home I hadn't gained any weight! I'm back OP now so I'm looking forward to seeing the scale go down soon!
Have a good day everyone!
Afernoon, all! Just checking in. I've been on fitday for a whole week now and I'm getting used to journaling that way. I'm sure I'll get quicker as I get more used to it. I plan to print out each day to show the Dr. when I go back in July so she can see what I've been doing. I'm believing to have good results to show her and that the scales will be down a lot more by then also.
NANCEMEISTER - I liked the quote you shared - I mean which of us doesn't like to be in control?!? Not just eating either. I take control in so many other situations - why not my food intake and exercise? I've started a good habit with the personal trainer. I have to schedule my time with him and, since I'm paying, I have to be there and on time, too. So, if something comes up I say, "I'm sorry. I have an appointment I have to keep." Sometimes it means coming back to work after my work out, but I usually work faster when that happens. :D Fitday is cool, but I could spend all day playing with those reports! And trying to enter some custom foods using the figures on the food label I found the labels weren't all that accurate - talk about peeving me off!! I'll be contacting some food companies in the near future!
KAREN - Great articles!! I pictured DEBBIE's weight going down after she started adding the jogging to her exercise. Talk about stopping and starting...
DEBBIE - The heat is getting brutal for sure! Be careful out there in that heat! We're going rollerblading this week-end and can't decide which is going to be cooler - very early in the morning or later in the evening. It seems to be cooler in the evenings if we get that late afternoon shower to cool things off. Problem is, I have to plant my flowers in the ground this week-end too, they're getting rootbound in the pots because I haven't been able to get them planted. Goobers, technically, are boiled peanuts if you ask my Paw Paw or others his age. They are chocolate covered peanuts to younger generations. Slang-wise it's someone acting really silly, stupid, clutzy, nerdy, geeky or making a funny faux pas - someone you laugh at in a harmless way as they are probably laughing with you - or would if you pointed out their stupidity. As for Lauren, I would wonder about any teenage girl winning NSYNC tickets who DIDN'T scream. :lol: Hope you survived the mall adventure!
SPARKLE - I'm sad for y'all losing your bikes!! I hope that theif gets what he has coming to him!! Congrats on getting into the gym. Every little bit helps!
BOB and GATORGAL - posting opposing logos...........I like it!! Can't wait to see the outcome on that one! What's the countdown?? I must say I'm pretty peeved at the Gators for stealing our top notch baseball coach, so it's gonna be hard for me to pull for the Gators unless they end up playing some team I can't stand - like, say, Ole Miss. :lol:
GATORGAL - I've started upping my calories very slowly and have been losing about a pound a day so far. Don't know if that's related to the calories, but we'll see if the scale keeps going down. I'll be working out with John this afternoon. I would LOVE to know what my metabolic rate is - can't wait for him to get that machine! The webmd thing - I found it at http://my.webmd.com/diet_fitness_journal It said I should be eating 2378 calories per day to lose 1.5 lbs./week. I couldn't figure out how to edit or delete foods for a day once I put them in. 'Course it could be that goober thing again.
BOB - With as much travel experience as you have - what with driving that dang wagon all over the place picking us up - I have no doubt that you will find something totally outstanding bargains for us! Heck, y'all if it's cheapest for all the Florida babes to fly out of Orlando y'all can camp out at our place the night before and we can all drive to the airport in one car. We'll have a slumber party!
RHOO - can't wait to see those dance recital pictures! We get a picture of you in that new sundress, too, don't we? Way to kick butt on the Cancer Walk!!
RALYNNE - Wow! Taking down and putting up your own deck sounds like quite the work-out to me. And rewarding in more ways than one at that.
LDBLOND - I'm trying to be more diligent to drink more water. I was doing well for a while and then slacked off - bad - bad - Sonya! I'm surprised they had sugar free ice cream. That's great!! Good news about your daughter, too. Building blocks to a healthy self-esteem by very caring, loving parents. :)
CATLOVER - I'm very sorry about your dad. Sounds like you're doing a good job of not succombing to emotional eating - yeah!!
FILLISE - Sounds like you had a blast in NY. I thought of you watching the recent horse races. You can bet your other niece probably can't wait until her 13th birthday to get to go to NY with the coolest aunt!! EEeewwwww - winter clothes in June??? What's WRONG with those people???? Must be the Florida mindset - I just can't think about winter clothes in 100 degree weather.
Sol - The way I edit webmd is one your page with the calories used in the middle is a button edit page. You mark the items you want to delete. You can change them I think and then at the bottom there is a button to submit. I have been entering all my foods as frequent as I always eat the same thing. Hope this made some since. Did you notice if you add your exercise you get more calories? I have a hard time eating my 2,000 as it is :)
Evening All:wave:
UGH! Just got home, what a long and tiring day, I honestly would like to just crawl right into bed! Lauren and I hit Ole Ole for lunch first, then to the bra shop, she so desperately needed new ones, she's grown out of the old! Can you imagine, my 13 1/2yr old daughter is now wearing a 38C:eek: Then off to the mall, we went to the Sawgrass Mall, largest outlet mall in the US, we didn't do the whole mall, I got pooped and pissed after the first quarter, trying on swimsuits is NOT fun with her. Needless to say, we didn't buy a stinkin thing. Stopped for Carbolite on the way home, toasted coconut-YUMMY!!!
Waiting for Eli to come home. He said he's be home about 5, here it is 7pm-why do I go for men in retail??? Oh well, gotta love him. I know BOB is happy he's were he's at!!!!
CATLOVER, sorry to hear you're having it rough around this Father's Day. I hope you know that you can count on us to listen to you at any time. Sounds like you are getting in a lot of exercise, mowing is tough and must burn a lot of calories, esp. in the hot sun.
FILLISE, welcome back! Glad to hear you had a good time and got in some great shows. Too bad at the Good Morning America you didn't have a sign that said HELLO SUGAR BUSTER GALS!!! Seems you did great on your trip, not to of gained any weight is awesome!!! Thanks for the congrats, it's been a good week:) Again, we're glad you're home, safe and sound!
NANCE, so how are the pearly whites?
SOL, I'd say evening is better as far as the heat goes. When I go out to walk at 6:30am, it's already 80 degrees:eek: Just be careful in the evening and wear something reflective. I knew what chocolate goobers were, I surely have eaten enough of those in my lifetime, but I had never heard of someone being a goober, well, except the guy on Andy Griffins show, which, when I think of it, that's where the word must of originated?!?
Well, time to go find something to make for dinner. Didn't take anything out, so it will be a "FREE FOR ALL", or as I call it, LEFTOVERS THAT NEED TO BE USED!!!
I'll try to check in with you later, otherwise tomorrow. It's garage sale day, so no walking for me tomorrow:spin: My one day off-I deserve it, don't you think????
NANCE is the only one with an excuse this weekend.... :?:
Castaway was really good..I didn't think it was too long as the reviewers had previously said.
Oh Brother Where Art Thou? I love George Clooney (an original KY BOY), in everything except BATMAN! This movie is good and very funny in places. It takes place totally in Mississippi back in the early chain gang era.
Well worth the rent....
I'm on a house cleaning mission today...no WALMART for me this weekend...
I'll check in later..
Hey everyone! :D
Thought I'd check in to say hello. DH and I had a great night last night. We bought our second home yesterday (couldn't let Spewer be the only one with 2 homes). Ours is rather small, skylights, 2 rooms, one bedroom, no baths - it's a tent! :lol: I got it at Target yesterday along with an air mattress. We lit the torches and candles and spent the entire evening outside. DH cooked on the grill, it was wonderful. We are "practicing" for when we go on a modified camping trip to Spewer's cabin for their big 4th get together. After that we'll go on some camping/fly-fishing trips.
WELCOME NEWBIES!! It is always wonderful to have new people join our little on-line family.
FILLISE - welcome back! sounds like you had a great time in NYC. I was tired just listening to that itenerary!
BOB - enjoy those movies.
SPARKLE - Where are you going to in NC?!? You know that's where I live, would it be possible to meet? That would be wonderful! Wish I could bring my tent to the north shore and meet YOU there. I'd living Aloha for sure!
I know there are many that I should respond to, but I have been summoned to assist with dismantling the vacation home, then we are off to FINALLY order new couch, chair 1/2 and ottoman. This is a huge deal for me, as I have been wanting new LR furniture for about 2 years and we've been looking since the first of the year. DH has realized that what we have has finally given out and I better go before he changes his mind!
Happy Saturday Y'all.
Peace,
Wooo Hooo, I can't believe it Deb, I finally made it back on board.
My computer went into the shop and when I got it back it was a brand new tower and had no memory of anything and I had to go through alot to get back on, I haven't read the board lately so don't know what's going on with anyone. :(
I will have to catch up Monday. Hubby comes back into town today so won't have the time. Hope everyone is doing well. I've missed all of you Ladies so much I could :cry: I'm so glad to be back, again I say Woo Hooo!!!!
I'm going to post this before something bad happens and I lose it .
Have no fear, Nancemeister is here!!!!! I thought I would have TONS of posts to catch up on, but it looks like you me and FROG are the only early birds today! Glad you enjoyed your movies, I haven't seen any of them! I'm so behind, I can go to the 99cent section and have tons to choose from. I bought a Saturday Night Live "Game Show Paradies" tape that I'll probably watch tonight with the fam after we've partied and dropped. We're celebrating Dan the Mans Birthday tonight. Can't wait, he's getting some cool presents that he's not expecting! Tell Deb to get on the band wagon and get you those flight deals. Fly out to Ontario, Ca.
on Southwest airlines, I'll pick you up and we can drive to LV together! I get specials notified to me from SouthWest, I'll have to keep my eyes open!
Haven't played around with fitday.com too much. I don't know if I am disciplined enough to enter all my meals. I'm still trying to master the art of staying OP! Went out last night and had two illegal drinks, peach and then raspberry Bellini's with appetizers...crab dip, yummy, and some steamed clams. What a treat!
Deb
Here I am awake at our usual chat time, and where are you??? Spending money at garage sales! The dentist visit went fine. No cavities! The dentist said "Thank you for making my job so easy" and said I had beautiful teeth:D I do have to get tow ancient fillings replaced. Oh joy! Made some banana WW nut bread this morning, smells yummy...Feel extremely guilty that I can't seem to get on track posting recipes. I will have to dig up some good one and make my contribution.
Fillise
Glad you had a fun safe trip to NYC! I've only been to upstate NY.
I'm more of a country bumpkin. I like taking the back roads like BOB! What's your next adventure going to be?
Well....here's my general report, better grab some coffee so I don't put anyone to sleep! Had a good, but hectic day off yesterday. Hung out with my sister, we had to do girl stuff and went and had a manicure! What a treat! Dan the Man and I were at home Depot, not once but twice, to get a "Doggie Door" installed for Floyd. Miraculously, he is showing some signs of intelligence, and is actually using it! Dan the Man is putting in some spot lights around are Palm Trees in the front yard. He's totally nesting, it's cute. Went shopping at Costco, always trouble. For you that have them, you know what I'm talking about! BBQ a whole cut up Turkey on the grill over at Moms, then proceeded to fall sound asleep on the couch. Tonight my whole entire family will be over and I'm making a big giant tray of lasagne, salad, garlic bread (with the WW sourdough they have at Trader Joes) and making Dan the Man a German Chocolate cake. His birthday is really Monday, but we're celebrating tonight since the whoel fam will be here. Should be loads of fun. Well, that's it for now. I will check in later to see if everyone managed to get out of bed! and to think I'm on the WEST COAST! For shame! :o
Good Saturday Afternoon Everyone!:wave:
Just got home from garage sales, nothing at all out there today, very dry:( Only thing I got were childrens books for Eli. Starbucks does a literecy drive for children's books for the Camillus House, which is for the homeless.
Otherwise, not much else doing here. Didn't walk today, my day off. Both kids have parties to attend this evening and I thought Eli & I would have the evening ALONE, TOGETHER. Seems he's going to have to work and close the store-that sure sucks!
BOB, I'll check out tomorrow's paper and send you some info on what I find. I'll let you know if Eli doesn't have the address.
FROG, LOL, you had me going there for a minute, thought you really bought a second house!:lol: Sounds like you had fun "practicing" last night. You know what they say, "practice makes perfect". I keep telling Eli we have to keep practicing, that's it's almost perfect, so we just got to keep trying!:lol:
GLORY, FINALLY, you're back! Welcome home!!! When you get a chance, PLEASE let us know what's been going on with you since the computer crashing. How's the weight??? Tell all!!!!:)
NANCE, yes, guilty as charged about being at garage sales, but honestly, I only spent, geez, not even $5 (besides the books for Eli, which I don't count). Banana bread??? I know you aren't doing a taste test on that, are you:s: Have fun with the family and with celebrating Dan's birthday. Hey, I found someone else I think he looks like, guy on 48hours, Richard Schlesinger. Hmmm, funny how the 2 people I thought he looked like, both are Jewish (at least I know one is, the other sounds like he could be)!!
Okay gals, I'm off to the shower. Have to get ready to go see my nephew who's leaving for camp tomorrow. Wish my kids were joining him like usual:cry: I'll check in later and if Eli has to work, I'll work on getting some recipes up on the board.
Have a wonderful weekend!
GATORGAL - You are so into things! How great! French, golf, where do your interests end? I hope they don't! Interest and curiosity are two of the spices of life.
QUILTER - I have been a bad girl, owe you a letter as well as my sister. I started a new cross stitch project and got so involved I haven't been online. I will have to learn to balance my pleasures! A one track mind is not a good thing! Last night as I stitched I watched "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" with Patricia
Routledge. I really like her. Hetty is the total opposite of her Hyacinth role on "Keeping Up Appearances".
DEB - If you read the previous note to Quilter, you'll know why I didn't get to those GIFS but I will, after all your trouble for me I MUST!!! I love my gdtr but when it comes to clothes shopping, forgeddit! We have to look at things we're not out to buy, feel the goods so to speak and try on dozens (or so it seems) of
garments! Have fun!!!!
RHROO - I can't wait to wear clothes like "normal" people wear. But I'll never be up (or down?) to wearing sleeveless! A little lust can be nice! Wow! I bet the ACS really appreciate the people who walked. Gee! 80'! Around here that would be called a cool spell! It has been HHH, you felt like you stepped out into a blast
furnace yesterday.
ralynne99 - Busy! Busy! We used to go rafting on the Delware as we lived on it's shores in the mountains of PA. It is a lot of fun. I prefer seltzer and with a twist in it, who knows but
but you and the bartender! You don't need the alcohol to have fun!
Ldblond - One pound down is good. Whenever that evil eyed monster doesn't go up it's good! So YIPPEE! How great that your dd loves to read. Reading can transport to all sorts of fascinating places.
catlover - Sorry about the loss of your father. You will never forget, but as time passes it hurts less when you remember. Staying OP is great, especially at this time, when we are down it is easy to want to "treat" ourselves to a no-no. You are showing you have the strength not to do that.
Fillise - Welcome back from the big city! You sure squeezed a lot of action while you were there. I love going to the shows, or I did when I lived close enough. I used to ocassionally arrange show trips for the staff where I worked. We had a blast!
Nancemeister - I watched "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" on PBS last night. I think I'm addicted to any England based show! Do you think I may have a problem?
Gee, you miss a day and really get behind! I'll have to allocate my time in a better fashion. Have not weighed myself but looked in the mirror and was surprised! I have a neck after all. I when I dressed this morning, I noticed that all of a sudden the clothes fit differently. The shorts actually bag! I should weigh but I'm afraid
I might be disappointed! I may be making a mountain out of a molehill when I'm trying to go from a mountain to a molehill in size!
Take care! I just love reading about all your adventures and thoughts. It helps me to find strength and courage. Thanx!
Bonjour, mes amies.
I'm learning French, and have to practice somewhere. Actually, it would be Bonsoir because it is afternoon.
I just put my DH on an airplane for Wisc. for a whole week :( so he can attend a law course up there. He is staying in one of the dorms on the campus of U of W at Madison, and it didn't sound like where I wanted to be camped out for a week. So I elected to stay home.
I checked out my.mdweb and it was OK. After Fitday, it seemed like a little more work, and I couldn't see the entire list of foods to select from as easily. So, I think I'll stay with fitday. One or the other, I only need to use one of them!
I hope to get lots done this week while my DH is gone. I am preparing for the Independence Day! celebration for our daughter on July 4 when she is giving up cigs. So I want to paint a couple of T-shirts to honor the day. Probably will practice some golf this week. He taught me how to putt and chip. We practiced a little chipping this a.m. so will go out once or twice to work on the putting. Then will do some decorating work in this house. I want to paint the light fixture in the kitchen to go with the new wallpaper in there. Should be fun--up on the ladder with paints!
I went Off Plan a little yesterday. I knew I was doing it. I just wanted to "rebel" or assert my independence over what I ate, or something stupid like that. But it is a new day, and it is easier to stay with the program today. It's like I need to get something out of my system every once in a while.
Well, I'm gonna go and fix some supper now. I'm hungry and don't want to get starving. That's when I do bad :devil: things.
BTW, BOB, You didn't say anything about my comment on the UF/UT game. Were you ignoring me? LOL :)
Just thought I'd throw that little tid bit of an idea in to make things interesting come the 3rd week in Sept.
BOB, thanks for the list of movies. I've heard of all those, but haven't seen any. It reminded me that perhaps this week I could watch a flick or 2.
We've still got time before the game...we need to come up with a really good bet...
Sounds like some good piece and quiet time at your house
this week..you could really get some sewing done, and those movies you would like...
I'm watching PAY IT FORWARD right now, and then it's
MEL GIBSON that I've saved for last...I just love him..Did you see THE PATRIOT? I want to buy that one to have on hand. Very historical....
This is WHAT WOMEN WANT I'll let you know
Well gang, have a great evening....
Hi to all,
I am home are a busy day to shopping, I haven't done that for a while. My mom and I went up to BOB's neck of the woods. Still of the sreach for the agave nectar, with no luck yet. I won't give up.
I did go by some new shorts at Catherines, I love trying on clothes when I haven't for while, I have to guess at what size, and like today I guessed wrong, I had to get a smaller size. Very soon I should be able to but clothes at Walmart. That would be such a treat. CHeaper for some things, too.
How was the movie "PLay to Forward". I rented that one last weekend and was talking about it at work, and they thought I was crazy. It never played in the theaters down here. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Too bad something like that wouldn't work in the world.
Well, I tried a change my exercise. I went for a three mile walk outside tonight, instead of the treadmill. I found I was getting really bored with the treadmill and it was becoming something I was no longer looking forward to doing. Wile I was on the treadmill, I would count down the minutes till I should be done, and GOd forbid I calculate wrong, I was mad at myself. BUt tonight I went outside. Smelling the cut grass and hearing the nature sounds was so nice. I am sure I can do a great job at analizing this related to a new found sense of freedom, or release by walking outside vs inside. But I'll save that for my journal.
Well I hope all has a great day tomorrow.
Evening All:yawn:
I'm pooped! My quiet evening turned out to be a evening of babysitting for my neighbors kids. She had a party to go to and her husband was out playing golf. She asked me to kidsit for a 1/2 hour, turned out to be lots longer. Wasn't a big problem since I didn't have any major plans besides getting on the board and posting the recipes, which at this point, I'll have to do another time.
Lauren is still at her party and I'm waiting for her call to go pick her and her friend up-I hope it's soon, I don't like driving when I'm so tired.
SEF, as for clothes and teenagers, my daughter informed me yesterday, if I like it, she'll hate it and vice versa. Wonder if reverse psychology would work in the case of clothing????
GATOR & BOB, you and all the other SEC fans are sure gearing up again-I remember last year on the board-should I start taking bets???:s:
IAMAP, did you get my e-mail??? Let me know if you want me to get you any agave and ship it, it wouldn't be any trouble. Kudos to you for hitting the pavement. I use to have a treadmill and hated it, gave it to my Dad. It became a clothes rack in my bedroom. I love going out and walking, even among the heat, car fumes and bad drivers!:eek:
Okay, I'm gone for the night. Going to get up early, (I hope) and get my walk in and try to get to go see my nephew before he leaves for camp tomorrow morning.
Nite!!:dz:
Midnight Saturday!! Evening all, I was bound and determined to get on here and finish reading the posts. Whew . . . my eyes are crossing. Anyways, I think I had lots to report, but can’t remember any of it. I’ll just say that I am back on program and doing great. Lost 2 pounds since yesterday. That feels great!!!! I was a little leery to get on the scales, but what the heck, gotta jump on it sometime. My eating is going well. I’m really trying to track everything and keep track. Brings back memories of WW. Finally realized that while I was technically ON SB, I had no real method of accountability as far as portions go. So I’m on it now. Look out, those pretzels may have done a number on me, but I think it was the slap in the face that I needed. Let’s hope so.
Now to respond to all of you:
STARCHASER---I am so deeply sorry about all the awful things going on in your life right now. I know there are no words i can say to make it all go away, just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will be asking for “sunnier skies” for you in the very near future . . . heck, let’s just go for immediately. Remember we are alwasy here to listen and “hold a hand” even if it’s from miles away.
AMSWER---So great to hear that you are down to 123 and flirting with 122. From the sounds of it, you’ll be hitting that one on WIW very soon. Good going, my friend!!! I’m thrilled and proud of you!!! You must be teeny tiny if you want your goal to be 115. How tall are you?
FROG---CONGRATS on your two pound loss. You are getting so close to your goal . . . . my feet can’t contain themselves, they are ready to start happy dancing for you. You are really doing this the right way and not getting all emotional about the gaining part (unlike me!). Keep up the good work! BTW, thanks for the swift kick . . . I needed it. You are right!!! I don’t think you caught my cynisism, even though I was calling the pretzel person evil, I was taking all the guilt on me. I did the “I am stronger than these pretzels” for one whole day, then caved. Oh well, like you said they are poison that’s for sure. Thanks for caring.
CHERI---Thank you for reminding us all how precious each day is!!!! That is so important and I needed that. I, too, agree that we can start living right this second. So keep on living it up. Glad to hear that you are back to walking. Must mean you are feeling better. I know what you mean about needing courage to hit the pool. I have always avoided it like the plague even though I love the feeling of being in the water. Just concentrate on how great it will be for you. You are worth it!!!! Splash some for me!!!!!
BOB---Your FOUR POUND LOSS is wonderful!!!!! WAY TO GOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I know I’ve been off the board a lot lately and have probably missed it, but what are you doing to get such a big loss???? Please pass on any tips or secrets that you’ve discovered!!!! Really happy for you!!!!
KAREN---Hope the campout is fun and dry!
NANCE---Yes, I too loved A Room with a View. SO WONDERFUL!!! Wasn’t Daniel Day Lewis a geek in that??? I was shocked when I found out that was the same man I was lusting over in Last of the Mohicans (although I didn’t like that one as much). Do you like the contemporary British stuff, like Secrets and Lies and Little Voice. I’m trying to think of others but my brain is fried. I’ll make a list. Hey, just how big a room are you planning to have in Vegas. First you ask BOB, then me and you know Paully is coming too. So it’s going to get pretty crowded and personal in there. Ha!!! And to tell you the truth I don’t think I’ve EVER been a “proper” anything in a past life. You give me way too much credit.
ICESKATE---I can attest and verify what DEB told you about her being able to pass up desserts. I sat right across the table from her a few months ago and saw her not even give that pecan pie a second glance. It went right into that styrofoam container. And wasn’t thought of again.
RHROO---I say ENJOY your strappy little things. It’s obviously affecting DH in a positive manner. These are the clothes you have always wanted to wear. So do it. Wear them in good health with the full knowledge that you worked your hiney off to get into them. Yippee for being able to wear the “in style” things.
CAT---I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Hoping for you to have some good memories and thoughts of your dad.
SEF---Don’t worry about the letter. Just so I know you are all right and busy that’s good. You’ll write when you have time, right??? Anyways, I don’t know about that tv show you were talking about. Oddly, I didn’t get into Keeping up Appearances although it looked hilarious. I think it was on a bad night for me to catch it. The girls at work like the one that Judy Dench is in and I can’t think of the name of it. That guy who plays opposite here was in an old sitcom called Yes, Minister. Did you ever see that one?
Well, gals, It’s now past midnight and I just looked over at Paul. He’s been quiet for quite a while. He’s snoozing in front of his computer. This is a first . . . me awake longer than him. He’s the night owl, not me.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Good Sunday Morning All:wave:
Got in my morning walk/jog, did just 3.5 miles today for 26 miles total for the week:)
CONFESSION TIME! I had a mango! Okay, so it's not the worse thing in the world, but for me, it's been before I started SB that I had one. All season last year, not a taste. Today I had a tiny one, which still was 6.5 ounces. Hopefully, I won't see a glycemic reaction on the scale!
Poor Eli has to work again today, feel so bad for him. His 2 days off and he has to work both. Kids will be with their Dad, so I'm all alone:(
Guess it will give me that opportunity to work on those recipes later, I guess.
QUILTER, kudos for being down yesterday-hope the trend continnues:)
Time to go make my "milk shake". I am totally addicted to them now. They're so filling!!!! My fav. is coffee :)
I'll check in with you all later. Remember, tomorrow starts the new weekly board!
Hello everyone,
I just had to get on here and tell you all that I am now at 264. That is a loss of 4 pounds since Wednesday morning when I weighed. I think its the walking and making sure I'm getting plenty of water in this hot weather.
Kim: Glad that you are back on program. I know just what you mean about accountability with portion control. I think that was a big big problem with me for a long time. I started measuring everything. And believe me I had no concept as to what a true portion was. It's getting easier everyday. Oh, and if I get the courage to jump into the pool, I'll definitely make a big splash for you too :)
StarChaser: I hope that things will be brighter for you soon. You are in my prayers. Hang in there. We are here if you need us.
Deb: Ok, tell me about your milkshake. I know you probably posted it somewhere, but..... I have been trying to think of something to make using my skim milk. I have whipped it up in the blender with frozen strawberries, but I love a good Frappucino. Is that kind of what you make?
BOB: A 4 pound loss. Happy Dance!!!
I'm sorry I haven't responded to everyone. I will try to do better tomorrow. You all know that you're in my thoughts and prayers though.
Have a great day!
Good Morning!
We'll I've completely blown it this weekend. We went out for breakfast yesterday and I had STARWBERRY CREPES, had 1/2 sandwich for lunch with POTATO CHIPS, then had lasagne with WHITE noodles, and then GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE for Dan's B-day party. By then I was feeling guilty and put 1/2 the cake back.
I'm on my TOM, not that that is ANY EXCUSE, but my brain is thinking, hey the family is here, and I was a rebel! Paying for it dearly on the scale. Friday I had gotten down to 221.5 and now I'm up to 224 only 2 pounds away from when I initially started on SB. I feel like an alcoholic who can't stop drinking, but who wants to quit! I'm going to try and read some of my book this morning and get my head re-programed!
Having fun with the family, although it's always hectic! I hope today can be a sloooooooow day! I took my sisters to go look at those model homes I feel in love with, just for fun...oh that's another evil thing I did, afterwards we went to a coffee shop and I had an ILLEGAL COFFEE DRINK TREAT. Geez, I should be suspensded from the board for a week!
Dan had a great party, my Mom made him a "certificate" of all the things he's endured since he's been with me, it was really funny!
He received some nice presents, and is always so humble and appreciative.
SEF-I haven't seen Hetty on PBS. I will have to look for that show! Sounds neat! What's the temp and humidity been there?
BOB-Looks like it's you and me babe shacking up in Vegas. Gotta let Kim and her groom have their privacy! I saw the Patriot and really liked it. Mel is always good. Did you see "What Woman Want"? I haven't rented that one yet.
Gatorgal-Have you read "A YEAR IN PROVENCE"? If not, you would really enjoy it, especially taking french and all! Hope you enjoy your quiet time while your hubby is away!
Lamap-I always enjoy walking outside, when I get myself to do it!
It's so hot where I live, unless I get up at 5:00am, forget it! Nature sounds are so relaxing. Sometimes, I go hiking up in a canyon not to far from here, where it is completely peaceful. Can't here a car or anything, but last time we went up there I almost stepped on a baby rattler. That got my adrenalin going! So I've been sticking to the local park!
Quilter-Haven't seen any of the contemporary British stuff. Don't watch too much TV, except for morbid Tuesday nights with the FBI FILES, and Crime Sceen Investigators. I usually am glued to the travel channel, dreaming of far away places!
Deb-How are you? Another day of peace and quiet, that's rough, although I know you would rather be with your main man! I rarely ever get the house to myself, so enjoy your quiet time for me. Talk a calgon bath, read a book, sunbath, take a nap in peace and quiet with the fan on!
I gotta get out to the kitchen and start cooking breakfast!
Check in with you gals later!
Hey BOB, I agree. Mel Gibson is what women want! He’s a hunk. I saw that movie, The Patriot. Liked it a lot.
How about this as another alternative. Who ever has the losing team has to post something really nice about the other team, other school, other coach, or some related topic that would be fun for the winner to read. For example, “Steve Spurrier, despite the newsmedia’s biased assertions, is not only a great coach, but a man of integrity. He ‘tells it like it is’ and doesn’t bother with all that b**l that all other coaches spew out every week. Since he doesn’t play the game the sportscasters expect, they spend their time sifting for minutia to portray him in a bad light. He is fair and propels his players to greater heights than they would otherwise have reached.”
Nance--I checked all 4 parts of the TV series “A Year in Provence” out of the library and watched them all. Actually, that was a couple of years ago before we went to France. I really LOVED it. Funny and a good story.
I got to use some of my “pidgin’ “ French this morning in the class I teach. There is a Haitian couple in the class and they have been struggling because they have a very hard time understanding l’englais. So I was able to explain some of the concepts to them en francais. For them, just to understand the English word “contrast” is really hard. Wow. When I finally become able to speak better French, I’ll really have fun!
Have a great afternoon, y’all.
Well, it is a BEA-U-TI-FUL day here in NC, blue skies, low humidity, etc. So I FINALLY laced up my shoes, put on that new "inspirational" running gear I got last week and hit th pavement. I am so proud of myself. I did 2 miles and am now finishing up a PB&J before I head out to do errands. The new home we purchased Friday is now on sale at Target so I am going to get the price adjusted.
We ordered the LR furniture yesterday. Will probably be 2 more years before we get a new TV and the cabinet to put it in. Oh well, if money grew on trees....
Happy Father's Day to the single Mom's who do double duty, and to the Mpm's who make your children's father look good and are supportive of his efforts.
Gator - I like your football season ideas. I think it is going to be an interesting fall here on 3FC with you, BOB, et al.
Quilter - glad that you are having a better OP weekend. Sorry if you thought I misinterpreted your request for a "tongue lashing." I know you know who is ultimately responsible, but I know that I need to hear it over and over, thought maybe it would help you too. Aplologies if I over stepped it a bit. :^: DH and I are seriously talking about the "Flying Pig" next spring. Our friends in Cincy (the ones I asked you if you knew) sent us some info about it and have offered us lodging. :cool: It would be a good follow-up to Disney Marathon in January. Will you come out and cheer us on? Think I may get a t-shirt that says "BODY by SUGAR BUSTERS!" Or "LOOK AT ME I"M SUGAR FREE!" I could even get one to promote the site! That would be great! 26.2 miles of free advertising. The marketing department at Coke doesn't even have that! :lol:
Check back later.
Peace,
I was banned from the kitchen earlier!:^: Eli's was in there cooking some bulgur and meat up for lunch, it's pretty yummy with plain yogurt on top of it. Who am I to argue with him to go do something else - gave me a chance to post!
We saw my nephew Sean off this morning. Lauren started to cry. I asked her if she was crying because she was going to miss Sean or that she wasn't going. I really should be the one crying that she's home all summer! I have to call the camp tomorrow and see if they possibly made room for her for the 2nd session. Pray girls, pray!!!
BOB, there are a few ads in todays paper for Vegas, will send you some clippings. One for Circus Circus for 2 nights $199, another one for 4 nights I think was $400. I'll also check the net when I get a chance. It may be cheapre to go from Orlando, see what America West or South West may have from there.
CHERI, what wonderful news to see posted on the weekend! Congrats-4lbs is awesome! Keep up the great work! Really, my "milkshake" is basically what you do with the berries. I cup extra calcium milk, (I just like that because it gives me the exta calcium), 1 cup crushed ice, 1 packet stevia and 1 tsp coffee extract (you could do that same with extra strong coffee, I guess) and put in the blender on whip-that's it, nothing magical-and it's so filling!!!:)
NANCE, okay, what the heck happened to you yesterday? Where did you read all SBing people were to have a free-for-all??? I want to know if DAN the Man was present when this occured? And WHAT THE HECK where you thinking as you were eating all this crap? Obviously, your brain wasn't visualizing all of us surrounding you!:nono: Okay, it's OVER (RIGHT?) and DONE WITH (RIGHT?), tomorrow, your body that was temorarily possessed by some alternate ego will be back to NORMAL (RIGHT?) Hey, you were the one who asked if I was going to yell, did I yell, NOOOOOO! (RIGHT?).
FROG, kudos to you for getting out there today! And definite kudos for seeing the new house on sale and getting an adjustment! I had a great time at Target last week. I had a raincheck over a year old for the Jacque Moret capri pants, where the lady had put the sale price for the shorts, like who am I to correct her, right? I lost the rc for quite a while, okay, a year, but found it recently, but every time I went to a Target, they didn't have my size-finally, last week, found 5 pairs in my size (had gotten 6 pairs on the rc) and bought them for $5.99 each - reg. price was $12.99! What a deal!!!! Hope you get lots of $$$ back :) I can understand about your furniture, it takes me years to find and get anything. I have to get a wall unit made for the family room, it's been about 8 years now I think, by the time I get one done, I'll be ready to move! My tv sits ontop of an old floor tv-very tacky!
Okay, I am NOW going to find a couple recipes to post before I head out to the grocery store-the outting and highlight of my day. I started this post hours ago, ate lunch, fell asleep-what a lazy bum I've been today!
I'll check in with you all later!
Toodles!:)
Hello, everybody. I’ve got lots to stay so stand back!!! Second thought . . . co get a cup of coffee or something and relax. Actually, it’s not as long as previous posts. Just feels like I’ve got lots to communicate.
DEB---I registered for FitDay this morning. What fun!!! I love the way it calculates everything for you. You are right . . . I’m not getting enough fiber, I don’t want to do the US cereal thing (for fear of a blow out!). Do you think increasing my broccoli and leafy greens would take care of that. Like one HUGE massive salad a day?? Just wondering. Anyways, I’m glad I’m finally on there. It takes me a while, but I catch on. Ha!!! Hey, I didn’t get a chance to mention anything about your hair question. I always think of you as a blonde too. Weird, huh? Anyways, I think you’d look great with it all turned yeller. Go fer it!!!! Oh, back to FitDay, I made my goal weight to be 135 and I put my target date at April 13, 2002. Do you think I can make that??? It says I’d have to lose .8 pounds a week. Is that doable??? Am I setting myself up for a failure? April 13 is our wedding anniversary and I’d love to celebrate it at 135!!!! OH AND GUESS WHAT . . . . this morning I was down to 170.5!!!!!! 174 on Friday morning and now 3.5 lighter. Yipppppeeee and Yeeeehawwwwww!!!!!
BOB---Glad to hear you are back on program. I am sitting right there beside you . . . can I strap myself to you in case I get ready to slide???? Guess what??? We FINALLY got the Kroger PLUS cards. Have you heard of them? You are supposed to be able to save more money with them and get extra special savings. Plus you get $10 off on your next $50 purchase. Cool, huh??? I am with you about the meat situation. We’ve been eating too many hamburgers. Even though we cook them on the GF and most of the fat runs off, I know there’s still more there. I’m going back to chicken too. It’s the miracle meat. Last week we had massive salads and one night I opened up tuna and put half a can on top. That was pretty good. It was the white chunk tuna, the only kind I buy anymore. Do you like it?
CHERI---I am so happy, happy, HAPPY to hear that you are on the downhill slide to 260. That is so awesome. Whatever you are doing, KEEP IT UP!!!!! Marvelous!!!!! Your weight seems to be coming off at a steady pace. Are you recording everything you eat? Just wondering what you are doing to get a four pound loss. Or do you think it’s simply the portion control thing???? That could be it. When I eat something out of the box (say Triscuits) I am out of control. Now I really try to keep the containers in the kitchen where they belong!!!
NANCE---Sounds like you hit the ground hard!!! Whew!!!!! German chocolate cake????? Go back and read what FROGGIE said to me earlier in the week. It’s REALLY GOOD and she really laid it out for me that I’m the one who should be in control. I’ve been thinking about her words ever since and it’s really kept me in line. Hope it can help you too! I know that feeling of wanting something so bad. But here’s the thing . . . I want to be thin SO BAD!!!!! I want my body to be healthy for a long long time. That’s what’s fueling me right now. I have a goal to be able to RUN the race for a cure here in Cincinnati next April. That’s going to be a huge thing to work on beings that I can only move my hiney at a running rate for about 60 seconds at a time now!!! But I know I will not be able to run that race at 170 pounds. I’m going to try my darnedest to do this. So anyways, that’s it. Each day can be a totally new start. AMSER has a good quote at the end of her signature about regrets. We can do this. I’m pulling for you, soul sister!!!! BTW, I know what you are saying about being with family . . . that always does a number on my eating. That CANNOT sit down to a meal that’s 100% healthy. And the desserts . . . give me strength. Luckily, we stayed home for Father’s Day!!! No temptation there.
FROGGIE---No, no, no for goodness sakes NO, you did NOT step over the line. I totally needed to hear what you had to say!!!!! I apologize if you thought I thought that!!!!! (How thoughtless of me.) (I just had to use the word “thought” one more time!) Girl, you are one I look to for inspiration and guidance. Do you think I’d just blow you off??? NEVER!!! Thanks!!! As I said to Nance above, I’ve been thinking about your words a lot over the past couple of days and it’s helped a lot. You’ll be happy to know that I’m SO in control that I’ve commited to FitDay. It’s awesome. Really getting a good look at the intake thing. Yes, yes, for goodness sake YESSSSS, I’ll come out and cheer you on at the Flying Pig. If the schedule is like it was last year, Race for a Cure is the weekend before and I want to run that. So we will ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY HAVE TO MEET UP that weekend. Will you have time???? Let me know what your plans are. What part of town did you say your friends live in? We are literally 10 minutes from where the race starts. I drive by the museum center every day. So I can be there in a heartbeat. I like both your t-shirt ideas!!! Maybe you could get your parents to tie-dye you a cool one!!! They seem to have a gift for that!!!! Hey, thanks again for all your help. {{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}
RHROO---What a little darlin’ you have there. She’s personality PLUS!!!! A real ham it looks like!
Well, girls we had a GREAT day. I got up this morning and did my workout first thing (posted the whole week’s worth on the other thread). Then Paul and I had free tickets to the Reds game. Yesterday I was really stressing about going. I thought there would be all this food and beer to tempt me and plus we’d spend money that we shouldn’t be spending. That sort of thing. Paul said, “Let’s pack our lunch and take it in!” So that’s just what we did. We stopped on the way down and bought some waters and a diet Dr. P for me and put them in our little cooler with all our goodies. I’d made a sandwich for each of us. Then there were grapes for Paul and cantaloupe and strawberries for me. About the 8th inning we finished up with a little cheese and triscuits. It was WONDERFUL!!!!! I know all the people around us were jealous because we had such wonderful snacks. So discounting the pop and water that we purchased, guess how much we spent on our big afternoon. (DEB, you are going to LOVE THIS!!!) ONE DOLLAR!!!! That was for a scorecard so I could keep score and not get bored. The tickets were free from Paul’s office, we parked in his office building. So there was NOTHING else to pay for!!!!! Of course, the minute we got there the kid next to me had a yummy looking ballpark hotdog and then a soft pretzel and then cotton candy. I was like, “Hey kid, get that stuff away from me!” Not really, but that’s what I was thinking. That and how thankful I wasn’t his mom to have to be up with him tonight with a belly ache. Anyways, it was a great afternoon and we were both really proud of ourselves for giving the softserve ice cream the cold shoulder!!!! Cool, huh? (pun!!!)
That’s it from here. You all enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care.
Gator - that would have been so awesome if you would have come to Madison with your DH since it's where I live. We could have had a good time! I've worked in various law offices in Madison since 1975, so I'm very familiar with lawyers!!!!! You can't throw a stone in Madison without hitting a lawyer--they go to the law school here and like Madison so much they stay. Hope your DH has a good time. I think the weather is supposed to be pretty nice this week if the weathermen know what they are talking about. He will be able to sit back at the Union Terrace with a tall cold one and watch the boats out on Lake Mendota!
Camping was great but I'm behind with everything around the house! Gotta run!
Hey All:wave:
I am pooped and I didn't do a darn thing all day long! Eli left for work and I took a nap, wasn't feeling too hot, headache, backache, TOM is ending and sometimes I get like this. Finally got myself to go to the grocery store, just to be aggravated. Went to ask the guy in the procude area how much the Asian pears were, there was no price and his response was "we don't have any more!" I said, NOOOO, thats not an answer to the question I asked you, you do have more, I want to know the PRICE!" He then tells me HE DOESN'T SPEAK ENGLISH! Oh boy, that's not what you say to me. I went to the Mgr and complained. Not to get the guy in trouble, it's not his fault some idiot hired him when he doesn't speak hardly any English, but to complain how can they hire someone who doesn't understand a customer-it just irritates the heck out of me. The produce guy started talking to me in Spanish and telling me in Spanish that he's learning English! That he's from Columbia and doesn't understand too much English. HELLO!!!! Only in Miami can you come and get a job and speak no English-I wonder if I went to their country and tried to get a job without speaking Spanish-NOT! So what does the Mgr tell me, "we don't discriminate!" Ummm, no, you shouldn't discriminate, but no being able to speak or understand English is part of the job, and that's not discrimitation if you don't hire someone who can't do the job. UGH! Okay, got that off my chest, at least til it happens again, and it will, remember, I live in MIAMI!!!!:mad:
RHROO, she's is adorable!!! Sorry your post got messed up, but thanks for sharing the pic!!!
QUILTER, WHOO HOO!! Geez, the pounds seem to be melting off of you this weekend! On the fiber issue, 1/2 cup of Fiber One has 14 grams of fiber, 6 ounces of raspberries has 13 grams, just having those 2 items would do you (LOL-get it, doo you!!!) a day!!!! Broccoli is good and a salad is good, as long as you make it dark leafy lettuces, not iceberg. Beans are another great way to get fiber AND gas!!! Your goal is absolutely doable. It took me 8 months to get from 170 to 135. It's all in your hands:) YOU decide if you get there. Kudos for being so good at the game, and yes, spending just a buck makes me really proud of you!!!!!!
Okay, going to go throw a piece of lamb on the Jet Stream and eat before it gets much later.
Remember, tomorrow starts the new board and tomorrow is also MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of wisdom, please, try to post them tomorrow!
Later!
Hello lovely ladies!
It’s pretty amusing to think about catching up completely with 120 posts but I’ll skim the highlights!
Snooks, Happy birthday to you too! We are one day apart.
Sef, Hope you’re all dry now! ;)
Solshine, I could just SEE the scene with the helicopter! How neat!
Good luck on the scales on Wednesday. I know you have really been working it and I want to see your weight go down almost as much as you do!!!! If I had any sure-fire tips I would certainly use them on myself. You know I have been stalled too. But last week, I eliminated carbs in the evening for two days and that, combined with running, seemed to get things moving and shaking again as I went down two pounds. I don’t know if it’s only temporary though.
Hmmm, after looking at your sample menu, it looks really good. You could increase your protein a little, but not much. Do you do any weight training? I can’t remember (sorry, spacey.) I don’t think 1300 calories is too low at all.
Congrats on the wrestling tickets! How exciting! My friend Rath Dawg who posts on Weight Workshop runs a wrestling forum there. I’ve never checked it out but it might be interesting. It’s at http://www.atforumz.com.
Rhonda, for a chick who talks about how terribly you’re doing with food all the time you sure are doing good with your weight!!!! I think you’re doing better than you think you are. What a darling pic!
Tigger, OUCH to your McDonalds episode. Yet I find it hard to believe that I (and others I am sure) used to eat that crap all the time!
Deb, congrats once again on your spectacular success!!!! It’s a victory for the entire board!
No way for me to tell who originally asked about headaches, but I used to have bad tension headaches almost every single day, and since I have cut out aspartame AND sugar I rarely have a headache. (and excessive amounts of alcohol) I don’t know if the peanuts caused my headache the other day. It was the only thing new that I ate, and I hear a lot of people are allergic to peanuts.
Your “milkshakes” sound good. We have a special treat called “shave ice” here in Hawaii, which is snow cones but a lot better because they are made of very fine ice and come with all kinds of added, calorific goodies. I haven’t had one in ages but I was thinking of bringing my OWN syrup and asking for a plain ice cone!
I reposted “Just One Pound” on my other forum, I really like that!
LOL! I hope you enjoyed your mango! I have been having fruits in moderation, certainly better than ice cream and pastries!
Froggie, I must say, your getting under 150 is really an inspiration for me, since we were at the same weight at the same time! (along with Lara). I hope to join you in MAGICAL 140s LAND soon!
I already looked you up on the map a long time ago! I will be visiting somewhere near the ocean (Havelock) in NC, and you, I think, are way on the other side. I will be attending a graduation all that weekend, and after that, if things work out this time, quasi-boyfriend and I will have some time the following week to play, so meeting up is a possibility. In fact if you can make the drive it’s going to be a killer party weekend! More friends from Hawaii are joining us there, coincidentally.
Laurie, 3 miles on the treadmill is a good workout! You are doing so well with losing weight!
StarChaser, nice to hear from you. Sounds like you are going through some really tough times right now. I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your “best friend,” and hope that your health improves....it can be such a downer to have a physical setback. And on top of that to deal with the floods! You are in my thoughts.
UFgirl, good luck with your journey! I started off at 164 in March so I know what you’re going through....SB is the only thing I have found that ever worked for more than a few days, weeks or months.
Iceskatefan, Hope you survived Day’s Inn and all the truck drivers! ;)
Ralynne99, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!
Lara, I’m glad your weight is starting to come down too. Am I the only one who feels more empathy, or at least pays more attention to, the chicks who were about the same weight as me when I started? I guess part of it is because if you chicks can succeed, then certainly I have no reason to sit here and stay the same weight!
Cheri, Good for you for deciding to live in the present! I am still learning to do that myself, I was so wrapped up in “thin” fantasies all my life.
Kim, I don’t blame you for those white chocolate pretzels! They are yummy! But “one day at time,” it doesn’t have anything to do with who you are and what you eat today!
Nancy, I liked what you posted about the excuses people make. It’s so true! But there are really no excuses...there may be times when we make wrong choices, but that’s no reason to keep doing so over and over for a lifetime.
Susan, glad your trip was a blast and that you got some exercise too!
Glory, Hi! nice to see you again!
GatorGal, good luck with learning French, tres exciting! ;) (Okay so I don’t know French at all!)
Okay, ladies, I’m queen of the one-liners today but I did want to catch up with what everybody has been up to.
Yesterday was the big birthday barbeque that Martin and I put on at Waimanalo Beach Park. It turned out awesome. I try to concentrate on all the people who showed their support by SHOWING up and not all the losers I called who didn't show up! My whole family came except for my brother, who was working. A group of our "downstairs" friends from work and their friends, and some other people showed up. It was a **** of a lot of work, and there was TONS more meat than we needed. but we'll enjoy the leftovers. My stuffed mushrooms wrapped in bacon (Martin's recipe) were a big hit, as well as the most gorgeous fruit salad I EVER laid eyes upon, brought by one of our guests. We didn't even bother with plates, the ENTIRE group just stood around with forks and fingers and ravaged the salad until it was gone!
After the “grownups” left, the rest of us partied down and I had ONE beer, which totally knocked me comatose when we got home! It was amazing the effect it had on me when I used to could guzzle down 7 of them without even getting buzzed. Then I woke up starving and ACCIDENTALLY ate this yummy muffin bread I made. It was an experiment with whole wheat flour, TONS of wheat bran, fruit puree (prune and apple) and toasted almonds. It turned out dense and moist and very yummy. Well, I didn’t mean to eat the whole loaf, it just sort of happened. ;) But at least my system is nice and clean!
So today is supposed to be a lazy day but of course it never turns out that way.
Here are some PICTURES!!!!! from yesterday’s bbq. I'm still trying to figure out why the resolution is so crappy, but I figured out how to use the bloody camera and new software so that's progress for one day! (The hair has REALLY faded from the bright red a few weeks ago!)
A quick post before I go to bed.
Rhoo: This is a great picture. What a little cutie.
Deb: Thanks for sharing how to make the "milkshake". I have to give it a try.
Chris: Sounds like you had a great time at your party. Glad you checked in.
Kim: You asked me if I thought that my weight loss was steady because of portion control or if there was something else. Well, I think that it's really a combination of things. I have been eating between 1500 and 1700 calories per day. Writing everything down. Eating 6 times a day so that I am never really hungry. Measuring everything. And I did start walking again too. I feel that with the six small meals a day, it keeps me from being so hungry that I want to binge. I just hope it keeps going at a steady rate. It sounds like you are also back in control now. Keep it up. You will get there and I'm sure that you'll be running your race in April.
Nance: I know how it is when you get with relatives. I went to my sons house a couple of weeks ago and what did they want to do? Go out and eat at a buffet. We all went and I was out of control. I don't want to ever go to a buffet again. It's way too tempting.
Froggie: Great job on getting out there and running. I feel faint just thinking about it :dizzy: That is one thing that I would love to be able to do some day though. SOMEDAY I WILL!!
Well, better go to bed. Everyone have a great day tomorrow.
