The object of this thread is to take on at least one challenge related to your weight loss goals for 7 days straight. Choose whatever inspires you - a certain amount of water intake, no sugar, 30 minute walks, etc.

I will award accolades for each day you maintain your goal(s) and 7 day winner awards and pounds down at the end of the week. We will begin each challenge on Monday - you can choose a new challenge or repeat any challenge for extra mileage. If you would like to stretch yourself, take on more than one challenge.

We will support each other keeping in mind to stay focussed on our successes and/or challenges of the day and week related to our weight loss. There are plenty of threads where a lot of time is spent on personal stories, so let's try to keep that to a minimum.

All that we have is right now.

Well, I'm back for this week! Thank you all for your support last week. I gained 3 pounds on my "week off," which I'm not surprised about so my goal for this week is to get those 3 off and hopefully one or two more!

My challenge for this week is to eat 1200 calories a day and to exercise 5 days this week with 3 days of strength training.

Happy Monday, ladies! :flow2:

Hope you're all having a good day. I am buckling down to get things done in the house now, before DIL and DGD arrive Friday morning. I am not going to join the Challenges again until after Labor Day, when I will hit the ground running with my diet and exercise, but it is needless to promise something now that I know I am not going to do. (I've already heard DH & DGD on the phone talking about the chocolate chip pancakes and bacon they'll be doing for breakfast when she gets here! :o )

I am going to continue to exercise everyday that I can (walking .... already did a 50 min. walk today, came home drenched, and will probably do the pool later today.) I will check in with you all now and then, if that's okay, even though I'm not *official?* :^: :D I would miss you all too much to just LEAVE for a whole month! :grouphug: to all of you! You are wonderful supportive ladies!

Mscat, YAY for you! :dance: The scale is moving ... :D I'm so pleased for you! Keep up the good work ...

Carla, I'm sorry you have had some blah days. That is difficult, I know. :( I had sort of a "flat" weekend ... as did my diet buddy friend. We were saying, at the pool yesterday, that we were just "slogging" through it, an hour at a time, and didn't feel we accomplished much.

BTW, Liver Mush is a Southern thing, ground pork liver mixed with cornmeal, onions and spices. Then you pour it into a loaf pan, chill and slice it about half an inch thick, then dip it in flour and fry in bacon grease until it's real crispy outside. If you like liver, it is wonderful. The average person doesn't make their own, although my farm family did. We buy a commercial brand now ...

Carla, someday, I hope to make it up to Canada, to see some of your beautiful country/cities, if I can drag my DH up there. Wouldn't it be neat to meet for coffee somewhere in your beautiful city??? :) We'll do that when the time comes!

Sushi, don't ignore that pain you're having without having it checked out, please. I'm sure your problem is nothing like my late sister's, but I'm going to tell you about it .... to emphasize the importance of not ignoring weird symptoms. She was 58, and had stabbing pains come and go in her lower right abdomen for a couple of months, along with bloating and a full feeling. It turned out that she had ovarian cancer that she lost the battle with after a little under three years! :( Even if she'd gone the first week she had the pains, it was already too late for her ... Ovarian cancer is a disease, that by the time you notice symptoms, things are usually bad already. I'm sure your problem is likely not anything real serious but you don't want to ignore pain. Your body is telling you something ...

Haley, great to see you back with us this week! :D

Bonnie, you must be excited about your DIL and DGD's visit! And I promise you I will get this weird pain looked into. :yes:

I was tempted to make "gym in the morning" my challenge this week... and now I'm glad I didn't because I just couldn't get to sleep last night... I was really tired and sleepy, but then started worrying about things and once my mind started going, it didn't want to stop. Ended up being still awake at 5 pm, so I knew there was no chance of hitting the gym at 7 am and then getting through a double shift at work. I'm off at 10 pm, and boy will I be looking forward to my bed by then!

Anyway, here are my goals for this week:

- continued: take iron supplement, not eat after 7 pm, exercise daily, work on sleep schedule (keep posting get up and bed times), not mess up on the 21 Day Challenge, work on August goals
- water: drink at least 2.25 litres, try to work up to 2.5 litres
- specific exercise goals: try the Kick & Cardio class, play badminton with
boyfriend, swim before Aquafit classes, treadmill (at least 2 x 10 min. at a
higher speed than last week), skip rope several times (min. 500 skips, preferably 1000 skips, 1500 on the weekend)
- new challenge: walk the stairs (no escalator or elevator unless absolutely
necessary - sometimes it is at work)

Today is going good so far, I outdid myself and swam 20 laps before Aquafit and have stayed away from elevators and escalators. The first staircase of the morning is always the toughest, but I was fine today. 89 steps to get myself out of the train!!! I'll probably have to take a ride or two on the elevator at work in a bit, but climbing the equivalent of 8 storeys on my way home should compensate that (4 storeys from the train, and I live on 4th floor with no elevator).

Happy Monday everyone --
My goals this week are to stay within my points and exercise every day. Would like to lose 2 more lbs. by Labor Day -- That would be 25# total so that's what I'm aiming for. Weight is coming off slower now so may not make it but am sure going to try!

Bonnie - You sound so excited about your GD coming for a visit!!! Enjoy your time with your family but do drop in now and then. If your GD is anything like mine you'll get plenty of exercise -- she'll probably run you ragged!!

Haleys - good to see you back with us. It's so easy to let a couple pounds creep back on and so darned hard to get rid of them again -- but you will do it!

Sushi - all your stairs sound like great exercise. And glad to hear you'll check with your dr. about that strange pain.

MsCat - Our seats for Wicked were in the Balconey Row L - and they were fine. Don't really think there are very many bad seats in the theater. We kind of decided to go at the last minute so took what we could get and were very happy with them.

My report for today (Monday) - walked 45 minutes this a.m. and stayed within my points with lots of "good-for-me" food plus a lemon pudding/jello dessert with Cool Whip. I always thought SF puddings and jello tasted "off" but have actually learned to like it -- and anything with regular sugar tastes way too sweet. Funny how your taste-buds change.

Haley, it's good to see you back. Just wait - you probably didn't really gain 3 pounds. Give the salt and fat and whatever a chance to leave your body before you accept it.

I didn't post yesterday, but I did meet my goals. I've decided to continue with the same goals as last week, even tho I may not meet all 3 every day. Those goals are to get at least 20 min deliberate exercise every day, to drink at least 6 cups of water (yes, I know it should be more. Baby steps!), and to do at least 15 min cleaning or decluttering every day. I'm trying to do Flylady's mission every day, and of course doing a lot of cat-related sweeping and tidying and wiping up.

Bonnie - I do hope you'll drop in from time to time before your official return in September. Meanwhile I've put the coffee pot on and will sit by the computer awaiting news of your arrival. :lol:

Mscat - Yay! I knew that ticker would move eventually!

Good morning, ladies! :coffee2: Just a quick hi before I start my busy day here in Raleigh. Hair cut at 11:15, then DH is taking me to lunch at one of the good restaurants in North Hills Mall. It's an old mall that's been re-done, and I'll tell you, some of the re-vamped malls are nicer than the brand new ones around here. It's been almost two months since my hair was cut, and I am one scary-looking woman! :o

Carla, don't put the coffee pot on yet, girl! It will probably be a couple of years before I get there, and that will be some strong coffee! :lol: BTW, does the liver mush sound good to you? Or definitely not? :D

DRUM ROLL................................. :dance: I actually took curtains down to wash yesterday, THEN actually cleaned the windows, and am ready to re-hang curtains. ALSO managed to throw away a stack of "Southern Living" magazines (Oh, THE PAIN!!! :cry: ) but I can't keep them forever! A lot of *stuff* is getting ready for the Vets' pick-up, and my house will look much better. Isn't it great that we have visitors? Otherwise, my clutter would get so high that it would all just fall over and bury me!!!!!!!!!!! :lol:

Sushi, I will be waiting to hear what the doc says about your pain, if it doesn't clear up. (I'm one to lecture you ... I've been supposed to have a Stress Test for *chest sensations* ... when I do water exercise ... for weeks now and still haven't scheduled it. That's because I'm sure it's nothing, and I feel I'm wasting my money .... :?: )

Haleys, so good to see you back. That scale will drop quickly again. My weight is going up and down every couple of days .... because of my crazy eating, one day 1600 calories, next day 1800, next day 2800 :( .... with lots of salt thrown in there, so it's exhausting to try to keep up with my Tracker! :o

I will try to eat sensibly at lunch, then come back here and work it off!!! We are having much needed rain here in Raleigh this morning, so wasn't able to walk, and I don't know about the pool this afternoon yet.

I am already down 2 pounds today from the up 3, so I'm guessing you guys are right about letting the salt and whatever else get out of my system.

I got ssssoooooooo mad yesterday! My friend said he'd go to a kickboxing class with me at my gym and we get there and they won't let him in because he's already been a guest once and he can't be a guest again, I was SSSOOOOOO mad that we drove all the way out there in REALLY bad weather to hear that he can't go in. We drove together, so I had to leave too and we just went back to my house. They said that on the little guest pass I had it was for first time guests only, but when he came with me last time they didn't have him fill anything out, so really there wasn't even proof he had been there before, but the guy just wouldn't budge. I really was upset, so we left and went grocery shopping and had a delicious omelet for dinner.

I ate my 1200 calories, but because of the above did not make it to the gym, but I still have plenty of time to get my 5 days of working out in.

Doing well with my goals, but my calves are till sore from Sunday's rope skipping session, ouch! I'm feeling like if I gained 5 pounds or more in the past 2-3 days, bleh.

Monday: up 7 am, bed 10:50 pm
Tuesday: up 7:10 am, bed by 10:15 pm (such is the plan!)

Hey Ladies - sorry I have not been posting regularly - both computers at home have horrible trojan viruses - DH's shuts down after about 5 minutes on the internet :fr: The laptops' connections only work in certain rooms and I have been too busy at work to post adequately. Will do better in the future.

Horrible day on points - okay on water. No exercise - :mad: but weight is holding and if I can get the fireplace moved from in front of the treadmill and get to bed on time - I will work out in the a.m.

Sushi :cheer: for Monday and Tuesday! See the Dr. ASAP! Last year I had the same thing for 2 months accompanied by daily vomiting! After all kinds of tests and meds they could not identify the source as viral, parasite, gluten intolerance (ingrediant in foods such as oatmeal), etc. It went away after I took the Landmark Forum - I believe it was stress and I totally let go of all stress in my life after taking the forum.

12 hours later... I'm in a cranky mood. Totally off the wagon, too. I didn't exercise at all and didn't drink my water (I had some, but not much). Went to the store and had to use the movator there - there is no staircase!!! Normally I'd just walk up, but someone blocked the way with a shopping cart. And then I had food after 7 pm - 2 cookies, a few cherries and jello, and it ended up being too much sugar, so I had to eat some baby carrots too. Now it's 1 pm and I can't fall asleep even though I'm awfully tired...

At least I haven't messed up on my 21 Day Challenge. :dizzy:

The pains have stopped for now, and hopefully won't come back. I have a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks, so I'll get this checked out.

I think I'm getting stressed out, and the next 3-4 weeks will be stressful. I'm moving to another country in early September, still have a ton of stuff to take care of and time is running out.
Today I had a number of frustrating customer service experiences while trying to sort out my banking. I almost lost it when calling about my student loans... after 20 minutes of "your call is important to us, please continue to hold, a representative will be with you shortly" a live female voice told me that they were "experiencing a high volume of calls and could not answer my question, but if I leave my name and number, they will get back to me next business day." So why keep me on hold for 20 minutes in the first place?! :devil: And what use do I have of them calling me "next business day" and leaving me message to call them - because I'm at work and can't be reached?! :mad:
I'm bracing myself for dealing with more banking and student loans, the insurance company, drivers' license office, and storage companies which just won't list prices on their websites and "hesitate to give out price lists over the phone/email/fax" - so how on earth can I find out what the rates are?

Maybe now I'll manage to get to sleep...?

Tuesday report - Walked for 40 minutes on my "medium tough" route and it was so hot and humid that I really got a workout. Then topped it off with two hours of mowing and trimming - thought I would drop by the time I was finished. Sat in the tub and soaked for a half-hour when I was done!!! The upside is that I drank lots of water. Stayed within my points range with good fruit and vegetables.

Bonnie - Send some of your rain our way. It is so hot but no rain. We really need it too. Wish I could get motivated to do windows -- they are soooo dirty and I really just don't care as long as it stays this hot.

MsCat - When are you going to Wicked? Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. I'm not taking a break from the challenge - exercise and on-point WW friendly food everyday.

Sushi - I'm going to go looking for a good jump rope. Used to jump rope when I was a kid and think it would be good exercise. Besides, then my neighbors can really think I've lost it!! Can you picture a gray-haired overweight old lady jumping rope in her driveway every morning when they're on their way to church or work??? I love that mental picture just enough to do it!

So now I want a jump rope and a pedometer. I never in my wildest dreams thought those would be on my shopping list!

I don't envy you dealing with customer service folks, Sushi - and I am one. By the time people get through the automated prompts they are so glad to talk to a real person. I can't believe that business cannot come up with a better system.

Haleys - good job on the 2#. And I would have been mad about the gym not letting your friend use a guest pass also. They could easily have printed that on the pass and saved you a lot of frustration.

Tough Wednesday ladies - busy all day, exhausted - had a great lunch and did ok on points but water is totally out the window:eek: Going to take on just the water challenge for the next few weeks here and on the 21 day challenge. I do better when I really concentrate on one thing at a time!

Bev - :cheer: you are doing great today! We are going to Chicago to see Wicked. We are taking our daughter to the teen forum for Landmark Education - I didn't realize that Wicked would be there until after hearing you talk about it! Otherwise I would have gotten our tickets earlier.

Sushi - glad your stomach pains have resided. I swear it sounds like what I had - and it was all stress related! Do you have some way of relieving stress? Meditation, bubble baths, walking, shopping? (just kidding).

Hi everyone - where are you haleys, princess, carla, Bonniebelle? Hope you are all doing ok!

A quick hi to my buddies here! ;-) I am running around like a headless chicken, getting the house cleaned, shopping for things for my DGD's *treasure chest* in her closet ... I have things I bought her on my trips this summer, summer clothes I bought on sale the last couple of weeks, new dolls for her and her friend to play with, new books and art projects, and a Mogu squishy body pillow!!! I'm such a Granny .... ;-) She will arrive Friday around eleven. When their plane got into JFK today, after they ate dinner in the airport, she called and said, "Granny, I just had my first Western meal!!!" She'd had a big bowl of pasta. (She's been in China for two months .... only Western eateries were KFC and McDonalds ... that she went to.) YES, I will be so glad to see her!

Sushi, Mscat .... hang in there, ladies! You will prevail over all your stressful situations, I know you will. Hugs to both of you! Bev, sounds like you are working hard as the devil .... you must be burning a ton of calories! Good for you... Carla, where are you and your kitties? Hope you are having a good day. Haleys, hope you are finding it pretty easy to get back on track.

I have been BAD today, ate way too much, no real exercise, just clean, clean, shop, shop!!!! I hope to get it all more under control MANANA!!! :-)

Hello all.

Sushi, sorry to hear you slept so badly. No fun at all. And it sure doesn't help with meeting goals the next day.

Mscat, it sounds like you're just trying to do too much. Even your home computers are stressed out! :lol: Switching to an achievable goal is a very good idea.

I'm not really doing too well on this challenge myself. I've been drinking lots of water, which is easy in this muggy heat. And I do get in a bout a half-hour walk in the evenings, but I can't even convince myself that should count as exercise. It amounts to less walking (and slower) than I would do just walking to work. As for the 15 min housework, I think I'm close to that one, although I haven't accomplished a lot. I do have a shiny sink all the time... I keep meaning to do the Flylady mission of the day, but I have done other things instead, so I consider that goal achieved.

In my defence I have this sore throat that has been getting slowly worse for about 3 weeks. I was on my way to the walk-in clinic down the street when the skies opened and a torrential downpour started. So I put it off to tomorrow - again. Between the throat and the heat, I really don't want to do anything. Even doing the dishes leaves me in a sweat, and that's with the AC on. I'm hoping to get some lake time in this weekend.

I do think this challenge is a good idea even when I don't meet the goals. It certainly keeps me from "forgetting" that I'm supposed to do (or not do) whatever.

Had a good Wednesday - Walked 50 min in the morning and another 40 min last evening. Stayed within my points. And Wed is my weigh-in day and I lost a pound! One more to go to be down 25# by Labor Day so I should be able to do that.

I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one that's sick of this heat/humidity. Just seems to wear me out. I do just what is necessary but seem so tired all the time. Am hoping that turns around when we get that nice, crisp fall weather.

MsCat - It probably is a good idea to re-focus on one goal at a time. Sometimes we expect to be super-women and just try to do too much. The one thing I tell myself over and over is that I'll never be perfect and doing what I'm able to do is better than just giving up and doing nothing at all. I can finally accept that and know that quitting is not an option.

Everyone have a great Thursday - we are getting just a few drops of rain so will see how soon it quits so I can take my walk. Have to grocery shop and run errands today so would like to get an early start.

I just walked for 50 minutes, and you will see that I'm changing my Tracker back to 195. I hope it will be less tomorrow, but I really went off the rails yesterday and ate way too much. God rewarded me with that "stuffed turkey feeling" which I deserved! :lol: Now I will finish cleaning bathrooms, vacuum & dust the whole house. (My DH will Swifter the kitchen!) By then it will be after five, I'm sure, and I will get in a pool workout/fun time this evening. And when I wake up tomorrow, IT WILL BE ALMOST TIME FOR DGD TO ARRIVE! :dance: :dance: :dance: I know, I know ..... I'm unbearable! :D

You ladies all have a wonderful day. Let's don't get discouraged by these DOG DAYS of summer. Before you know it, it will be cool & brisk, and we'll be knocking these pounds off! BUT today will be 95 in Raleigh, and it was 97 percent humidity when I walked!!! :(

Bonniebelle :cheer: - you rock on the cleaning thing! Isn't great to accomplish something? Accomplishing your cleaning goals will help you be more focussed and confident in facing your other goals when you are ready - besides all that cleaning counts for something on the exercise scale!
carla :cheer: - giving you kudos for your walks. On weight watchers, 30 minutes of walking is about 2 activity points. Be encouraged that according to the new book "French Women Don't Get Fat" (? I think that title is right) they don't exercise all the time - they walk. A daily walk may not help you lose mounds of pounds but it will lower your heart rate, keep up your metabolism, and help you maintain your weight loss from eating right and drinking water.
Bev :cheer: You are incredible with your consistency lately! I like what you said about not giving up, and striving to meet goals whenever we can. You are so right - it's better than not doing anything at all! What a great inspiration to all of us.

Thanks for all your support and comments regarding my idea to refocus on one achievable goal. I am committing the remainder of this week and starting the 21-day challenge over today with the water goal. I believe if I can do it for a week here, and then at least another I can master that just as I did the exercise and then focus on my points.

What's wrong with me?!?!?!? I can't get motivated to go to the gym, I've been getting really bad headaches in the afternoon and have just been going home and sleeping and can't get motivated to go to the gym. Every single day this week, I say I'm going to go to the gym after work or I'm going to take a bike ride and it just doesn't happen. Ughh!! I don't know why I'm doing this. I have been eating fairly healthy (except for a huge unhealthy bean & cheese burrito with cheese sauce on it last night). I want to lose weight so bad, why can't I motivated myself to just get to the gym and do this??? I still have Thurs-Sun to work out, so I can still get in 4 days of exercise this week. I just can't get going to actually do it. Any tips????

Haleys, I feel your pain. Since my little flurry of swimming, I've ground to a total halt apart from my evening strolls. If it's hot where you live, that may have something to do with it. And sometimes we just need to veg. Not everyone will agree with me, but for weight loss alone, I think the eating is most important. IMHO, the exercise revs up the metabolism, makes us feel better about everything, is good for our hearts and lungs etc, but really only burns off a limited number of calories. So give yourself a few days off without guilt, maintain your water and eating programs, and you'll feel ready to start again in soon.

Thursday report - walked 40 minutes and had an extremely low point day. Ate lots of fresh vegetables - went grocery shopping and then stopped at our local produce stand and got fresh tomatoes (I could LIVE on fresh tomatoes!), cucumbers, green beans and a huge cantaloupe. Lots of treats for very few points.

Haleys - I hope your headache goes away. Have you had them before or is this a new thing? If they continue might be a good idea to check with your doctor - or could it be your eyes? Anyway, I do hope you feel better. And don't stress about exercise right now - just get better and then the exercise will be easy!

Carla _ I agree that my walk doesn't do much to help my weight loss but it sure does make me feel better. No swelling in my legs and feet and I rarely get out of breath anymore. Besides, my annual checkup is coming up and I really want to look him right in the eye and tell him "oh sure I walk every day ... just like you told me to a year ago" ... going to be a big surprise as I've been ignoring that piece of advice for about five years!!! And my puppy loves it ... he's pretty spoiled so whatever he loves, we do. Did you ever get your sore throat checked out?

MsCat - good luck on your water goal. I know you'll stick with that one for 21 days.

Bonnie - by now the GD is there. Yippee! Have fun with her but don't forget about us.

:sorry: Bev, I looked at your posts and see you walk a LOT. I really didn't mean to say that walking is a waste of time. Not at all. Just that Haley's weight loss won't necessarily be stalled by a few days off. And I'm a little ashamed of my very short, very leisurely strolls. They provide less exercise than I got before starting my weight loss program! I'm willing to bet your doctor will be impressed by your fitness and your weight loss. So please accept my apology - I really didn't mean to be negative. (It sounds like your eating is healthier than mine too.)

Edit: I forgot to say that my throat is improving. Apparently it's a combo of cat and ragweed allergies. So I've been popping pills, and it's getting better. Thanks for asking!

Just popping by for now... waiting out the rain. :) I'll post more when I get home.

I've been off the wagon for the past few days, but I'm gradually getting back on track. That's why I'm planning to post later, when I know whether today was a success. For now I'm determined to make it! :)
I sort of let one thing slip (water), and then I got this feeling "well, I might as well..." Or maybe it started with having a chocolate bar at 7 pm on Monday? I was starving for chocolate and decided it would be better to have a bit than to have the craving get so bad I'd eat like 3 chocolate bars and not one. And I told myself it was ok to have it a few minutes after 7 pm because I was at work and couldn't eat earlier than that. Now, normally I make arrangements to avoid such situations, so that's why I'm thinking that this "it's ok because I had a good reason" started me on a slippery slope...

Tuesday started off fine, but went downhill. Wednesday was a total flop. Yesterday went pretty well, but then I got so annoyed (couldn't get to sleep again) that I got up and had cookies and milk while watching a movie... I was so tired around 7-8 pm that I was virtually falling down on my face, but I knew that if I went to sleep, I'd wake up at 11 pm and then have a sleepless night. So I decided to push it till 9 or 9:30 and then go to bed, but by the time it was 9:30 pm I was wide awake again... :tantrum: I'm considering getting sleeping pills or something - something that actually will make me FALL asleep.

But I've been good with taking my iron, and I've been avoiding all kinds of escalators and elevators successfully. Today I ended up having to take the elevator 3 times at work, but I'm glad because what I was doing would normally involve 5 elevator trips.

I think I'm frustrated with the progress of my weight loss program... I'm not even losing 1 lb per week... 1.5 weeks ago I was at 137 lbs, and since then i'ts been 137.5 to 140.5. I probably should change my tracker, but what to set it to? I really have no idea what I'm doing wrong... and the way things are going I'm not going to hit 120s by Labour Day... sigh.

Anyway, enough of ranting, I'll be back later. :)

Carla - I didn't take your post regarding walking in a negative way at all. In fact I agree that missing a few days of exercise doesn't affect weight loss much. I just enjoy getting out and walking in the early morning - I am an "outdoor" type person and that's about the only time it's actually nice to be outside with all our heat & humidity lately. So instead of starting anything very productive (like housework!!), I take my walk. Good excuse and I've been workin' it all summer!

I am struggling with my water goal - been on the run with two award ceremonies at work and a run home and back in the middle of the day to catch a delivery. Then this evening I ended up with the runs! :eek: Oh well, I am going to get what I can in tonight and then work on it anew tomorrow.

haleys - I agree with everyone about not beating yourself up about the gym. Is there some other exercise commitment you can keep when you can't get to the gym? A short walk 15 - 20 minute walk is easy to squeeze in and is better than doing nothing at all. Otherwise try to get your gym workout in as early as possible - focus on DIN (Do it Now) and DIA (Do it Anyway). The later you do it the better the chance you will put it off.

Sushi - :cheer: for you and the darn iron pill! So nice to hear from you. I hope you get some relief for your insomnia - be careful with the chocolate - is has ingrediants that may affect your ability to sleep through the night.

Mscat, with all that running, I hope you do find a way to get extra water in. You don't want to get dehydrated! On the plus side, a good case of the runs can bring your weight down a notch...

I'm still sticking to my puny little evening stroll (seriously, if I went any slower I'd probably fall over.:lol: ) The humidity keeps coming back after a very short respite, and it's just too sticky. I've been doing all right with the water, although even more wouldn't hurt. And knowing a cat-sitter will be living here while I'm away has inspired a flurry of housework: the papers on my desk are sorted, tons of old cards and papers are gone, most of the surfaces in the house are cleared. Next stop: floors and bathrooms.

While I was putting my unnecessary work papers thru the shredder, my Bigboy was standing on his hind legs, ears flattened and tail batting back and forth watching in fascination. He even hissed at it. And after I was done he stayed in the office lying on the rug staring at it for a good two hours. Cats are so silly. And so entertaining.

Friday - Walked 35 minutes in the morning and then had to go to work. Had one point left at the end of my day so stayed well within my range.

Sat - Another 35 minute walk and then went car shopping. Oh I hate even the thought of shopping for a car, but the time has come. Found two I really like -- and of course the one I like best with the lower mileage and still under warranty is about $3000 more -- so now today is decision time. Actually I'm glad I found two I like first time out as I was thinking it would be hard to find anything within my price range.

Sushi - I know what you mean by that slippery slope. That's exactly what I do and it's really hard to talk yourself back into control. Just take it one day (or maybe one hour?) at a time and you'll be back on track before you know it.

Well, time for me to go find something to eat and start the laundry.

A quick note to say hi, and that I am back to 193# this morning. I think racing around with my little granddaughter is helping!!! :D I did get *some* exercise on Friday ... walked early a.m., then played in the pool and on the waterslide with DGD on Friday afternoon (not exactly an aqua class! :lol: ) Yesterday we were only in the pool five minutes when a thunderstorm kicked us out .... :( Have been too busy to overdo the eating too much!

Carla, thank goodness we have other people come in our houses once in awhile, huh? Otherwise, our clutter would build up so high that it would topple over and bury us!!! :D

Bev, hope you've found a good car to buy. I hate that process, and wondering if you've bought just the right one ...

Carla, I understood what you meant about exercise and weight, etc. Exercise is wonderful for you, and makes you feel better all over, tones up what you've got, kicks up the metabolism a little. BUT I have to walk over 2-1/2 miles to make up for eating a Whopper, Jr.! :o And of course, we need to have eight glasses of water, at least, a day to be our healthiest. But calories in, calories out is the real bottom line if we want the scale to drop .... And I have to start watching mine a lot more ...:^:

Sunday - Walked 50 minutes this morning. That's my 9th day in a row - wonder how long I can keep going?

Am going shopping with my DGD this afternoon, Bonnie - she "needs" some things to take back to school in a couple weeks so guess who gets to go shopping??? I'm so much easier to convince about those "needs" than her Mom! Sounds like you are having a wonderful time with your girls - and I told you you'd be too darned busy to eat!!!

Have to run - one more load of laundry and need something to eat before I leave.

And tomorrow we start a new week - my goals will stay the same.

Didn't meet the exercise goal this week, but I did meet the calorie goal for each day and am down 2 pounds this week to 205! So, I have 6 pounds and 2 weeks to lose them in!

Hi Ladies! I am having a good day - half my water down (been running to the bathroom all day!) and got some of my fruits and veggies in already. Best news was I went to the store yesterday and instead of buying candy bars or chips to snack on - I bought a bag of carrots instead!:cb:

Had my 2-hour bellydance class yesterday so I am too sore to make bonus goal today. Working with DH on construction project so I will get a little workout there.

Sushi :grouphug: we are with you thru thick and thin. Next week is going to be a great week for you. I didn't meet my goals all week either but starting today, we are going to pull for each other to kick some serious butt this week:strong:

Hi Mscat! I'm glad to hear that you're doing well now. Carrots instead of crap! Now that's a victory!! And all that water will keep your skin glowing. As for the bonus goal, I personally would be counting the work on the construction project. I know I counted the vacuuming and dusting, and tomorrow I'll count the bathroom cleaning. I may even do the balcony windows. We've had a couple of storms since I last did them, and they get all grotty from the rain passing thru the screen before hitting the window. Keep up the good work - I've finished my 21-day, and will be on a bit of a break before I start again on the 23rd. I'll try to behave in the interim, and will continue with a new week-at-a-time after weigh-in tomorrow.

The cat sitter came today and is going to be fine. I've already booked her for a week in October. The cats behaved like little sleeping angels while she was here, not even any big stinks. I guess she'll just have to find out the rambunctious truth when she gets here.

Off to bed. Keep with it ladies. Until tomorrow!

And a new week...
I'm not going to admit what time I got up today... but you should be able to guess if I say that at 4:30 am I was far from being asleep... Yesterday at 10 pm I got anxious and panicky about the upcoming move :fr: :stress: ...and started packing books into boxes, while also watching The Fellowship of the Ring on DVD and doing the laundry. By 2 am I was falling on my face, but the downstairs neighbour knocked on our door just when we were about to collapse into the bed... ummm... so I guess I have a new motivation to fix my sleep routine: not have the neigbour come up again and/or not have him complain to the management... :fr: :stress:

I'm very relieved - I don't seem to have gained more than half a pound despite being so off plan last week (no exercise, next to no water, but pizza and lots of cookies instead...) :o

Hope Mscat will start the new thread soon. :)
