WAKE UP!!
I'm here....getting ready for work...this is a first. Usually I sleep in until 10 & there are 2 pages of posts!
DBF & I grilled out last night....grilled greek chicken...yummy - will have leftovers for lunch today. Scale is up 1.5 pound, but I had 2 glasses of water yesterday...that's it. Will be drinking all my water today.
What's going on with you today?

I'll be back later with more...just wanted to say GOOD MORNING!

Good morning, dalings. I slept with a QUILT on the bed last night. It was so wonderful. :) Of course, now that I'm back to central air the weather has moderated. We may not even make it to 80 today. I may have to get on the treadmill! Oy!

Friends are coming over shortly to get Harry's bed and mattress out of here and off to the Dump. The box spring won't fit down the stairs so Doug is going to cut it in half with some special saw! Then I'll just have the wall to wall carpet to deal with. I may get it removed as there is maple flooring underneath. That'll be a fall project though as I've got a loaded plate right now. I want to paint that room before I refurnish it too.

I have yet another appointment in town this afternoon - this time it's a pre-admission evaluation. We still don't have a nursinghome bed but are hoping soon!

Gotta dash! We are all too darn busy but try to take a moment for yourself to chat a bit. :cofdate:

Hey ladies! Last night I opened all the windows and turned the air off!! Yeahh!!! It's so cool and nice here now. The heat is gone for a week or so. Ok, it's officially one week until my CA trip! Can't wait!!

Hi Chicks

Its early afternoon here, its been raining all morning and it looks like it will continue to rain for the rest of the day. Its cool and breezy, temperature around 55 degrees! It feels more like the type of weather we expect in March or October.

So having had a scrummy bowl of Oatmeal for breakfast, I'm ready to do some physical work around the house. Lots of decluttering still to do.

I'm hoping to return to college in September - I just got a letter this morning to say they have scheduled an interview for me, in just under 3 weeks time! :yikes: I havent had an interview for 18 years, my knees are like jelly just thinking about it.

Have a great day on the beach!

Good morning, Chickies~~

Another easy morning at the nursing home for me.

Ruth, So glad you finally have your AC working again! Better to have it and not need it, and all that...

Good morning, Artemis, Lydia, Soon2B, & Getn hope you all have a great day on the Beach!

Stepped on the scale this morning, and WHHOOP-DEE-DOOO....Drum roll please...

:woo: I'VE BROKEN A ZERO DOWN to 179!!!! :cb: It's only been, what? 5 months since I broke the last one...don't know WHY I'm so excited...

For you non-believers: the 4 cups of veggies a day and the water rule WORKS! Trust me on this...would your mama lie to you??? Of course, you still have to get up off your asterisk and move a little bit, too. You can't lay around like a comatose slug and expect miracles. Okay, I'm off my :soap: :)

Going to go make me a yummy berry smoothie for breakfast and head out the door.

Everyone have a great day!

Mamacita

OK, made it to work in one piece.

Wow Ruth, you are a chick on the move, aren't you. Always have a busy day planned. There's SO much I want to do around the house, but with work and the kids, there's not much time left.

Pear, that weather sounds delish! We're supposed to get to about 83 here today in Northern Virginia, but I'm not sure it'll last a week. I hope so! Where are you going in CA?

Artemis, good luck with the interview.

As for me, that pesky pound was off again this morning so I was happy. No budge on my body fat % yet. I'm hoping that'll start to shift by next week since I've been really good about doing The Firm every day. Love those tapes! I need to get naked and on my scale at about 5pm which is apparently the best time to measure body fat % on the Tanita. Right now it reads 36% (EEK), but that's not a true reading since I'm not hydrated at that point. Maybe I should try at bedtime too.

DH and I leave a week from tomorrow for five days in Hawaii. Can't wait. I adore my kidlets but I'm ready for a few days away. It does freak me out, though, to leave them and go SO far away for that long, but our au pair is great. By then I'll be in Phase 2 so that'll make it a bit easier, but I will have to have a mai tai at some point!

Happy beachin', ladies!

Hey Chickies!

I'm happy for all of you with the cool weather. We are expecting a 110 heat index today. Blech!

I've been MIA and will continue to be so for a while. My daughters found two abandoned kittens estimated to be about 2.5-3 weeks old. I've become a foster mom-cat, hand feeding the babies every 3-4 hours, wiping their little butts to make them poo, and all the other things mom-cats do. I feel like I've got a newborn again, except it's harder! It should get easier in a week or two, but right now I'm living breathing eating sleeping kittens. DH wasn't thrilled about my undertaking this, so I can't complain about being tired from the 2am feedings, or I'll be hearing "I TOLD you so". So I'll pop in when I can.

On the beach front - DH lost 9 lbs in the 2 weeks of P1. He's elated! We can both see a noticable difference in teh appearance of his "spare tire". He's starting P2 very cautiously, adding only one whole wheat bread serving each day. He hasn't added any fruit back yet. I've lost 6 lbs just by eating mostly P1 with DH. I don't need to lose, but I know I'm eating healthier so I guess that's a good thing. Since I've been so busy with the kittens, I know I'm not eating enough. I"m going to try harder to get in all my meals.

I've been reading posts when I can, and will continue to do so. Y'all entertain me so! Sorry I can't respond individually. Feline motherhood calls!

 Good Morning All,

Wow - you guys are up and at em' this morning. Mama - didn't know you were a writer. Good luck with the next chapter.

Bamie - Missed you girl!!! How's it going?

Soon2B - DRINK - DRINK - DRINK :drill: (water that is)

Ruth - Sorry to hear that Harry is not doing well. I'll keep you two in my prayers.

GetN - Have a great time. I know what you mean about the kids. My DH and I went on a cruise a while back - I thought the time would NEVER pass until I got back to my baby. Even knowing they are in good hands doesn't remove the "mommie misses". Why do dad's have that ability to have that non-chalant attitude when it comes to leaving the kids?

Pear - Nice to meet ya - have fun in CA

Schatzi - Yes - POWER TOOLS - MMMMMMMMMMMMMM  - MUCH better than Calgon. Are you sure Ken and my husband are not related?? Bamie and I have already decided that her DH and mine are!:)

Artemis - You will do fine. Chin up ;)

Leslie - Feel your pain - in the 100's here in NC today too. BAD storms last night - Thunder & Lightening until 3AM. Dog FREAKING OUT!~~!!!!!!!!!! He DOES NOT DO THUNDER!!! Under the covers doing that "mmmruppphhh" thing - Ruth you know what I mean!!!! Needless to say - not much sleeping last night.

Yep, we got the storm here too. No major problems around us...just cancelled my 7-year-old's swimming lesson so he was bummed. Thankfully the power stayed on.

Schatzi, I agree, toss it out. I do that all the time. If it hasn't been touched in a year he can live without it. I force myself to do the same thing with my stuff. If I can live without it for a year or two, I don't need it! Of course it took me 3 years to get rid of the last of my fat clothes, so I guess some things are hard to part with even when you KNOW you'll never use 'em again!

Kye, your food sounds delish. I've been waiting 2 weeks for my new chest freezer (old one died while we were on vacation and the food actually COOKED inside before we got home. GAK! Anyway, I got a new one delivered from Lowes last Friday and after a day plugged in it was still as hot inside as when we started, so they're supposed to bring me another new one on Saturday. In the meantime I've got NO stock of food in my inside freezer and no room for much. I still have a bunch of Jenny Craig food in there and I'll have to figure out what I want to do with it. I guess I can eat it occasionally when I'm in Phase II.

Can you tell I dont' feel like working today??? Guess I'd better get back to it.

Morning chicks, home from PA late tuesday night. Wow we had a great time. The race was great even though my guy didn't win. :( We found some great shopping and a cheesecake factory. Except that is was too much money to spend on a cheesecake, I am sure that was the gods telling me not to eat it. We also found a great outlet mall. I got dd a pair of sneakers for 20.00 that would have cost 100.00 here. Other than that things are getting back to normal. Still trying to unpack and get laundry done and the camping things put away. So I must run and try to finish up so I can get outside for a bit today. Have a great day chicks.

Morning chicks!

Still OP! Actually I prefer to be OP - it makes life easier.

Slept on the new BED last night!!!! It was amazing. DS said - mom can I sleep with you tonight? I said do you hear thunder? He said no - I said I guess you can't sleep here then.

I'm at work early today cause I have to leave early tonight. I'm getting indoctrinated into my parents club tonight. (They are sick of paying my bar bill  ) DM says - oh yeah quit drinking when it is time to pay your own tab.

I have no child and no parents home this weekend. And I have no plans. I should have a party or something. chick flick marathon maybe. Something OP!

Does anyone know when the August goals and exercise post will be put up. I need to set some short term goals. Like my short term goal to walk on my breaks and lunch today, even though I forgot my sneakers. No more excuses. I'll go barefoot if I have to!!! Hope it's a good day for all.

Alright... been MIA for a while now, I know... but I'm back!!

Got back from vacation and had to work extra hard to lose the weight that I put on during vacation - and although my signature indicates that I didn't lose any weight this month, I actually did. You see - during the "padded" week (which actually turned into about 9 days) of vacation that I had at the beginning of the month, I managed to put on 7 pounds. Yes, you read that right - 7 stinkin' pounds. But I'm happy to report that I've shed all of that weight and am ready to get back on track again.

Work is stressful as all get-out, but it will be alright. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.

I'll try to come around more often.

Well, girls. I'm gonna have to start over :(

I went ape $#!t with a few things that I know I shouldn't have eaten. I'd really been doing so good with dealing with the emotional eating and all of a sudden, WHAM...I was out of control again.

I've been reflecting this morning and trying to figure out what it was that triggered me...I'm at a loss. The one thing that I do know is that I've got to pick up the pieces and move on, that's one thing that I would have never done before.

It's quiet at my house...my oldest son left for vacation with Grandpa to Peru. The other 3 kids are at grandmas for 2 weeks....I'm having issues dealing with the lack of kids I think. Is that whacked or what? Actually, that might be it! It was two days ago that all the kids left...that's when things went down hill. It's also TTOM, yikes! Alright...I've got a few possible reasons, now I've got to figure out how to deal with it.

The good news is that I didn't miss a day of exercise. Normally I would have completely given up on the exercise if I had cheated on my diet...that's at least some progress, I think. I don't know how much weight I gained back but I know I did gain.

:?: So, what do I do? Do I need to start over again with phase I? Or do I continue with phase II? I'm not worried about the weight dropping quickly...what I'm striving for is to address these issues that I have while I establish a healthy way of eating and continued physical activity. Lord knows, I've got some emotional issues going on here! :dizzy:

Sigh

You should probably to Phase 1 again, because the cravings could return. Keep your chin up. Just get back on your towel..you can do it.

Schatzi
07-28-2005, 03:10 PM
Val, Darlin' ..First a Hug.. :grouphug: . next ... good for you that you kept up the exercise - AND- for asking yourself some really "raw" questions about why you binged and went a tad outta control...and filling up that empty nest feeling with food. (BTDT!)
A question you may want to ask yourself....
We're/are you experiencing cravings ? ..The purpose of Ph1 as I understand it is to eliminate the processed refined carbs (sugar, flour, bad fat) , reduce or eliminate cravings for crap, and prepare yourself for a new WOE.. If you aren't experiencing cravings, then you might want to move to ph2.. get back to planning your foods, shopping for *some phase 2 items to slowly introduce back into your food plan.. (the key for me on phase 2 is to only add 1 or 2 phase 2 items per week .. see you react, and then add something else.. EG..I added some fruit back in..once a day..and a WW english muffin.. sweet potatoes, and 2-3 slices of bacon..)... On the other hand, if you did not really have a "struggle" with Phase 1.. Do it for a week..
It's your call love, I'm just glad 2 C U Back on the Boards!

Shatzi - I don't believe I was experiencing cravings...I wasn't hungry. I honestly feel it was purely emotional eating. Even today as I start back on track I am not having any cravings...but I also feel a lot clearer in the head today. I'll probably just do phase I for a few days and ease back to II.

Wow, I can't believe I actually pulled myself out of that slump. that's a major feat for me. I know there will be more bumps on the road...learning to address these detours will be a determining factor in my success. With all the kids gone I was at a loss...my normal routine gone. I turned to food to fill the void, I see that now.

Moving on now :D

Hey everyone!! Boy, are my legs and butt sore! Today I went to "the hard site". My plots there are an hour up a freakin mountain, total of about 8 miles up and down hills.... steep ones! And I have to carry 2 gallons of water, water for me to drink, plus everything else I need, I swear its like 50 freakin' lbs!!! I prob burned a bunch of calories though so that's good! Yesterday I ate too much, OP food but just too much of it.... 1950 calories to be exact...yikes!!! I'm not sweatin' it though since it's the first time in about 4 weeks that I strayed off the beach plus I worked my @$$ off today. I'll just pop a few advil and all will be well!

I am a slacker --

Although I didn't eat as bad as I could have at the amusement park on Tuesday (forwent the Funnel cake, but have a candy apple in the fridge), I have been eating the worst that I have in the past 2 months.

I was dehydrated as all get out and was 193 when I got back from the park, but weighed in at 196 this morning. To top it all off, I just caved in and ate a serving of M&M and some other sugar filled candy.

There is my binge. I jinxed myself. 2 months of nothing and poof. GRRRR!!! Looking at the bright side, it wasn't chips (and there is a HUGE bag sitting on a table about 200 feet from me!)

Anyway...getting back on starting now. Slurping water and putting the 1/2 of the 20 oz Diet Pepsi (YUM) back in the fridge for another day. Wonder what I'll be having for dinner...

Hugs all!

Hey fellow Beachers, I have been reading your post for at least a month and a half and have been too shy to jump in. I really enjoy reading about you and your struggles and triumps over your weight, I can identify. I have tried WW and the Atkins and could not stay on them, the Beach has been much easier for me to stay with and I have lost about 13 lbs, my clothes fit better and I feel much better.
I do struggle sometime with staying OP, but I do jump right back on.
I look forward to reading everyones post and will continue to learn from you.
Thank you.

Hi Ladyntexas :)

Glad that you overcame your shyness and jumped in.

Congrats on your fabulous weight loss - I think that comment you made about jumping right back on is key to this. Its the lesson I'm trying hard to keep foremost in my mind this time. When I do slip, I have to just get back on and not turn a little slip or a bad day into a month of overeating as I have in the past

So, nice to "meet" you, and dont be shy any longer!

Thank you for the welcome, Artemis. I started out on my scale at 180 and am now down to 165, that is the least I have weighed in about 15 years. I am determined to lose at least another 10 or 15 lbs. My drs have been very surprised and supportive in my weight loss, my cholesteral was way up and my blood sugar was evelvated and so my endrocrinologist suggested that I try the SBD. So here I am, I am 53 years old and really wanting to enjoy my life and not carry so much weight around with me.
So enough about me, I am just real glad you ladies are here.
