Slavika Sorry to hear you talk about poor Sammy like that . I know what you mean about the hours of pleasure we get just from watching all th wild life in the yard. You are right about the mess but as you say we don't mind. Hope your feeling better about all this in a day or so. Don't like to hear you so blue

Mom was a little better today. But now she is getting as we speak 2 units of blood . Her count was so low no wonder she felt so yucky . Things have change since I had a tranfusion years ago it was ice cold blood they put in your arm. Mom said it was warm. My Dad will be taking care of her when she comes home. He was busy today getting the house arranged so she could get around better. He is very handy to have around when you need help. He cooks ,cleans, wahes clothes and dishes and can even sew. My brothers oldest boy will be there too so he can help move her around or at least catch her so she doesn't fall. Plus I am just a phone call away when I am in town and if I'm not my Daughter and Husband are on call.. My DIL is a nurse aid so she has says to call anytime. Also my oldest brother and his wife live a few blocks away so they will have more help than they need I'm sure.

Have to go

G'day all

Karen sounds like your Mum has lots of help and support. It does makes such a difference when the load is shared.

Slavika I agree the mess one puts up with is very small compared to the pleasure your Sammy has given you. In my 'former' ;) life, I used to always feed the birds, mincemeat for the kookaburras and just seed for the many parrots that frequented my garden. When my life returns to a bit more normality, I would really like an aquarium, luckily dh agrees.

Tomorrow son and partner are coming, cannot wait, dinner is booked and we should have a great weekend. It will be interesting to see if they notice my weight loss.

This weekend is the 'queen's birthday' long weekend. We had a referendum to decide if we still wanted to be part of the British monarchy or a republic, the monarchists won and so the tradition of a public holiday in honour of the queen's birthday goes on.
I personally think we should be a republic but I won't say no to a public holiday :D
Do you have the same issues in Canada? I think I am right in thinking you are still part of the Commonwealth.

Have a great weekend everyone, I know I will :D

Cheers
Maria

I also have tears over Sammy. I don't mind the mess the wildlife makes. I have a lot of birdfeeders and there is seed all over. We have a bird family in the gutter and the robins just raised one on the overhang on the back porch. A mourning dove was in the chiminey. Karen I am glad you mom is doing better. It is nice that you have a lot of family around to help. Maria have fun with your son. Enjoy the holiday. Lily have fun on your day trip. I think the rains have stopped for a while. That funny looking yellow ball is in the sky. Have a lot of running around to do today. Will stop by later, Peggy

Okay, guys, I have been gone so long. Everything has changed and I am so confused. Another time that I simply cannot read everything I have missed. I tried yesterday, but my boss still wants me to work some. How rude, huh!

So do you have to log on everytime you post? I will go back and see if I can find some instructions.

Just wanted you to know that I got my older son married. He called us last night from Maui. They are having a great time, had been snorkeling with large sea turtles. Today they were going out on a boat, maybe to fish?

Oh yes, remember me, kicking the butts? Well, I know I have done this before, but it has been 40 days today and I am thinking of myself as a non-smoker. I have finally realized I can never have JUST ONE.

Will go back and read now. Oh yes, we are still waiting for our little grandson to make his appearance. He is, they think, going to be about 10 pounds.

Glenda: Hurrah! I'd say that classifies you as a non-smoker. You have a right to feel quite :smug: Be sure to let us know about that new baby.

Slavika: It is too bad you can't find the culprit and report him to authorities, or at least give him a piece of your mind. We know it has to be a 'he' since no selrespecing woman would do such 'dastardly' deeds. I love birds and wildlife, and subscribe to a magazine called WildBirds. There are such wonderful pictures.

It took me so long to get connected today for some reason that I can't talk to all, cause it is time to cook. I'll get back later. Ann

 Hi Everybody

We went to the Dance Recital this evening and the little Princess was of course wonderful. DH presented her with a long stemmed rose at the end of her performance and she was as pleased as could be. :) She was actually here for lunch today and asked about Sammy. I told her I had not seen him for a few days and she said, "oh I know Baba, he went to the park to live with his wife". So I told her that I thought that was very nice. She said, he will come back sometime to visit and bring his "CHILDREN". :D
She might be right too, there are lots of oak trees in the park and lots of squirrels. I like her ending to the story. :)

Maria I hope you have a lovely weekend with your son. It must be difficult when parents and children do not live in the same city. I always lived in the same city as my parents and of course my son lives here too. I know I am lucky because so many people get transferred to other cities with their jobs these days. It's good there are planes. :)

I hope everybody has a nice weekend. Talk to you all tomorrow.
Night.

We knew you could do it. I agree 40 days means a non smoker you are.;)

My Mom is much, much better today. But thankfully she won't be going home yet. By Monday she may at least come to the hospital here in our little town. That will be nice . She needs to be able to get around with a walker before she really goes home. She had lots of company today. It was like a revolving door up there today. Made her happy:lol:

Just this week I received my new shipment of Smoothies. I haven't had a chance to try them yet.:( My Blender died the other day. So DH is on a mission to buy tomorrow while I attend a WW Staff meeting. Todays mission was a Weed Wacker:rolleyes:

I also like the Princess' end to the story. Maybe she is right. I bet she was adorable at the recital. We went to one last week with just little ones. They are so cute and funny. Some just stand there and some do their own thing. Maria enjoy your time with your son. Karen if you were closer I would give you one of my blenders. I have 2 for some reason. Went yard saleing this morning. Got some more treasures. I got a beautiful cut crystal bowl. It is real heavy. Some [goofy, in my opinion] said I should jello in it. Oh well, Have to run, got a wedding to get ready for, Peggy

I bet she was pleased with getting that Rose. It made her feel very special! Bet the recital was adorable to. I love to watch little kids. They are just to cute!

Maria: Hope you enjoy your weekend with your son. Im sure you will! Its always nice to have family around.

Karen: I love the WW Smoothies. Like the Chocolate the most. Mix fruit in mine and its yummy. The recipes it comes with to are great. Need to try the Mint one some day. Im love anything Mint. Glad your Mom is doing even better today. And at least she is getting lots of Visitors to. Makes the days go by much faster. Im sure its not to fun being in a hospital.

Peggy: Jello In a Crystal Cut Bowl? I agree with you. Pretty goofy. All tho thinking about it, It would look pretty in there. But I wouldnt want to hurt the bowl itself. Have fun at the wedding!

Off to play in the yard some. To nice to stay inside today. We are going to watch Traffic tonight. With Michael Douglas. Hope its not to violent. :( DH pick it!

Maria I hope you are having a wonderful weekend with your son.

Slavika I too like Princess's ending .

Peggy thanks for the thought.

And before I forget remember the flowers from last weekend. Well they are standing straight and tall. :D

Good Morning All: We will soon be on our way. Just the last miniute stuff- like saying  here.
Slavika: Princess has the right idea.I'm sure she was wonderful at her recital. All proud grandmas can be sure of that.

Karen: Haven't tried the smoothies yet, but will when I get back from my travels.

Lily: How was the movie?

Peggy: Have fun at the wedding. If you make a fancy jello dessert in your bowl it's feeling won't be hurt, I'm sure.

Maria: Hope your family weekend was all you hoped for.

Karen: I will try it with Almond extract. Sounds good! DH must be a good shopper. I dont think I could trust mine to come home with a good blender.

Ann: Have a great trip! You will for sure have a lot of fun.

As for the movie. I couldnt finish watching it. It was one of those that I just didnt understand at all. It jumped around to much and I could not follow the story. So DH watched it by himself. :)

Hi, Lily I have wanted to see Traffic since it came out. It was filmed here in town and there is some kind of controversy over it. The mentioned the name of the school the daughter went to and the school took offense or something. But if it is violent I don't want to see it. I think I will pass it by if it is confusing. It is pretty out today. Have a lot of things to do before we leave on Friday. Ann have a great time. Peggy

What a great day. The sun has been shinning all day:) I woke up in a great mood . Had lots of things to get done. Good stuff you know. Went to visit Mom for a couple hours. She is doing well. They are getting her up and out of bed now to go potty:o
They put her leg on a machine that exercises her knee for about 1/2 hour at a time several times a day.

Made a Strawberry Pie 3 points per slice and also the pumpkin muffins. I had forgotten all about them until they were talked about yesterday. Little children helped make them. They helped by licking the beaters, bowl and scrapers. Did a real good job

Well I'm off to take pie to little children and their Mom.

Hi Everybody
The weather was just great this weekend. Our grandson, had his baseball tournament. He was up to bat 6 times and got 5 home runs. He tell's anyone who will listen that he is the best player on the team.......and he's so modest too. LOL :D
The Princess not to be out done got two goals in soccer back to back. There was a mini fair set up at the community grounds so the grandchildren had a great time.
Today we went to my friends place in the country for a BBQ, and my whole family was there too. Everybody had lots to eat and we had a lovely time. The little kids swan in the pool until their arms were falling off. :)
Ann if you have left on your holiday already but get a chance to look in on us, I hope you are having a wonderful time.
Lily "Traffic" was actually a movie I thought I would like to see to.....you kind of changed my mind for me. :)
Karen I'm happy to hear your Mom is doing so well. When she's all healed I bet she will notice a big difference.
Hope you all had a nice weekend. I know Maria probably enjoyed having her Son this weekend.

Good Morning, Slavika your grandson sounds like he is a superstar in the making. Have more running to do today. I made a cute wreath out of diapers for a baby shower next week. It turned out real cute. You use one of those green wire frame and weave disposalbe diapers in it and decorate it with baby things. Since it is going to be a girl I used pink ribbon to tie the things on it. Nothing exciting is happening here. Talk later, Peggy

Hi, guys.

Slavika - Why, I cannot believe that you and I have the most talented, smart, and beautiful grandchildren of all! The Princess does have a neat way of looking at things, like Sammy. You really are very fortunate to have your family all in the same town.

Lily - We went to see "Traffic" and my husband was asking me questions throughout. It was very, very difficult to follow. I just don't understand why everyone thought it was so wonderful.

I have lost out. Where is Ann going? And Maria, are you going back home? I certainly have enjoyed your stories about your travels.

Karen - My mom had a knee replacement several years ago. She was probably about 78. The doctor recommended that she spend 3 weeks in a rehabilitation hospital so she could learn how to do everyday life. It was so helpful. They worked her very hard, but she learned how to do everything for herself, some tricks to dressing, cooking, and just walking. Then the doctor had a home health person come out everyday and put her through some knee exercises. Do you have something like that where you live?

My son and his new wife got back from Hawaii yesterday. They are so rested and so excited and happy. I just pray that they are blessed and have happiness and contentment forever. Joel hasn't had "marital bliss" before.

Peggy: It was violent and really confusing. I didnt realize it was filmed in your town. That bay wreath sounds adorable! Your scale image is to cute!

Karen: Little kids do a great job on helping dont they! You dont even have to wash the dishes  Your mom souuds like she is doing really well.

Slavika: Boy grandson cerntainly is modest isnt he? :p Sounds like you had a fun filled weekend!

Glenda: Ann was going to travel the east coast. She had some reunions and family functions to go to. Good thing I didnt see the movie with your DH as I was the one asking all the questions. I knew it was time to quit watching when I got one of those looks :s: from my DH. Im sure your son and wife had a great time in Hawaii. But I cant believe they didnt invite me. How rude!

Hi Everybody
I kept myself busy all day today, some fun stuff but lots of "housewife" stuff. :(
I managed to get all my laundry and ironing done today. Martha Stewart would be proud of me. :)
I spent some fun time making cards for birthdays, get well and stuff like that with the Hallmark software program that my friend
:) :)
Trudy gave to me.

Glenda yes isn't wonderful that we have these wonderfully talented smart grandchildren.
Did you ever meet a Grandmother who didn't think so? LOL
I agree with Lily how rude of your Son not to take us along with him and his new wife to Hawaii. We wouldn't have been in the way, would we Lily ???
I'm seeing my dentist tomorrow again, and on Wedneday but tomorrow afteroon I'll still have Tea Time.

G'day all,

First chance of reading the posts and let you know about my weekend. We had a great weekend and it was just wonderful to have everyone here. Mind you it was not without drama!!!
We had to go and get son and partner from the airport. Where we are, our car is in the basement secure carparking area. To get out you have to punch in a code and the elctronic door opens. Saturday there was a major breakdown and we couldn't get the car out. We ordered a taxi and after a little wait off we were again. Minor problem and we weren't too perturbed. The taxie driver seem to drive rather erratically, like very fast and then he would slow down, his english was poor and we couldn't quite work out what he was doing. About 10 minutes from the airport he ran out of fuel!!!! We just couldn't believe it, pouring with rain and here we are still quite a way from the airport. He couldn't get through on his radio, dh rang the company to send another taxie and helped the driver to push the taxie to the side of the road so we were not so vulnerable sitting in the middle of the freeway.
Arrived at the airport as the aircraft from Adelaide landed. The kids couldn't believe what had happened! The rest of the weekend was great albeit too short.

This morning I did another computer course, an introduction to 'Dreamweaver'. It is supposedly so much better than Frontpage (which I used for my current webpage) but it is very difficult for this old brain to grasp. It was an interesting morning and I will have another go at making a webpage using Dreamweaver and perhaps in time to come upload it in place of my current one.

It appears to be more likely that we will be going to Bejing, China and no likelyhood of being home for much longer than a week in between finishing in Melbourne and going to the new project It is anticipated we would be there till October. In some ways I am looking forward to it but I will be disappointed if I don't get to be home for at least a week. DH is also a little concerned, he will be working with an intrepeter, at least in a European country whilst not being able to speak the language some of the words you can have a guess at, not so with chinese.
Anyway it hasn't happened yet and with our past experiences with things changing at the last minute who knows.

Ann, I hope you have a great holiday and I am sure we all look forward to hearing from you somewhere along the way.

slavika, you do have wonderfully talented grandchildren, isn't it fun watching young children playing their sports. I use to love watching my kids.

Glenda nice to see you back posting, we have missed you. Pleased to hear about your son, isn't it what we all want for our children, just to be happy!! Good to hear you enjoyed my website.

Lily, I am not much of a movie goer, hate the violent movies. I am told 'chocolat' is really good, my daughter said that 'even you would like it Mum'. I bought a nice CD, the best of Sting, very relaxing and pleasant.

Peggy, I hope you enjoyed the wedding, I loved your avatar!

I'll be off now and try and practice what I learnt this morning.
:dizzy:
Cheers all

Hi, I just got home and all the neighbors are out. We live on a very busy street and it seems that the l8 month old baby was in the street. Some lady stopped and rescued him thank goodness. He is the youngest of 8 and it seems that the mom has left and is living with a boyfriend. The dad is in charge. I think he is about ready to have a nervous breakdown. It is very sad. Maria - so you are going to China. How do you communicate? I have heard the Chocolat is good too. Can't talk my dh into seeing it so far. He thinks it is a chic flick. You certainly had a wild ride to the airport. It sounds like anything that could go wrong did. Glenda I am glad that your son is happy. Too bad that you couldn't get to the wedding. Slavika have a nice tea time. Where is Trudy? She has been quiet. So has Geri. Going to go do some cleaning, Peggy

Maria: I would like to see "chocolat". Maybe next week. Boy sounds like your weekend was filled with trouble! But Im sure you still had a good time with your Son there. when do you find out if you get to go home for a minute.

Peggy:Oh my goodness! The baby in the steet? Sure glad nothing happened to it. How very sad. I make my DH watch the chic flicks. Heck I have to suffer through his!

Hi Everybody
Tea Time was fun yesterday. Both Trudy and Dee
and another friend of ours was over. :)

I went to the dentist this morning and had the teeth removed that had given me so much trouble before I went to Maui in Feb. My mouth is still frozen and I already have the new partial in, so I feel like my mouth is packed with marbles. The whole procedure was over very quickly. The last time I had a tooth pulled was when I still lived at home with my parents. I told Trudy
I worried so much about getting this done.....and now its over. :)
YIPPEE ! !
Peggy I don't know where you are finding those avatar's but they sure are cute and very appropriate. The wreath you made from diapers for the baby shower.....how sweet that must be. That poor father left with all the children, I think he better look for some help. Of course, I guess, lots of times woman are left alone to care for the children on their own too, without any kind of help. I sure do not understand a woman simply walking away from her babies like that, but I guess she probably needs help too. It's all so sad. :(
Karen I hope your Mom continues to get stronger every day. Looks like she has a lot of family to care for her. That's very nice.
Maria I bet your weekend with the kids passed in no time at all. Have fun with your "Dreamweaver" program.
Lily Hi there. Yes it was unfortunate that we were not invited to go along on the honeymoon. Just think of how much fun they missed out on with the two of us not being there with them. DH and I are once again thinking maybe we will go to Maui again this year. We usually book the trip, plane/condo in July or early August.
I'll be back a little later. bye now.

Slavika and Lily - I haven't seen the wedding video or the pictures they took, but I think I can emphatically state that they didn't need you with them in Hawaii. For some reason :), I think they looked at everything they wanted to. ;)

Guys, in Canada do you all have Fathers' Day? Ours is this Sunday. Have no idea what to get the man I love. He should be easy to buy for--he has very little in the way of clothes, but he is also the most picky person I know. I usually just jump in and buy something and he keeps it because he doesn't want to hurt my feelings.

Peggy - The woman on your street who has abandoned 8 children and a husband! This makes me so furious! Why did she have 8 children if she wasn't sure she would be around to raise them! And who in this day and age can afford 8 children! I am so sorry for the kids lost in this mess. And the husband must be ready for a breakdown.

Slavika - You did say you had teatime with Dee? How is she doing? And her daughter?

Hi gals.. :)
We have been keeping busy here. My hubbie's family has been here and we have had some late hours. I have been reading your posts, but just been too tired to reply. I really am too old for the late nights. Today I was with my DD, we spent the day at the Mall. Tomorrow is the day I spend with my Mom.... nothing terribly exciting going on, but I have been on the go.
Slavika .. I have been thinking about you and your poor mouth. I hope is isn't too sore and you are being careful not to chomp down on something. I am having sympathy pains in one of my "suspect teeth".
I just can't believe that you and Lily wanted to go on their honeymoon.... that is a :nono: .

My DD wanted to get her Dad a Father's Day present today. It isn't easy to shop for him, not that he has a lot of clothes, it's just that he is so particular. After a lot of searching we found a shirt that we hope he will like. The first thing he will do is look at the tag to see if it 100% cotton and where it is made....he drives us crazy. :dizzy:

Well, I'm off to bed... see y'all...

Slavika: How is Dee doing? Ouch! Your poor mouth. Must not hurt like it use to. ALAS Hawaii again? That would be nice. I keep bugging DH. But we really need to save some Money before we go again. We kinda of over did this last time. But we figured it was once in a life time. But for sure we will do things differently next time.

Glenda: I just cant image why you would say you Son would not have wanted us there? :?:  I know what you mean about gifts. Women are easy to buy for, but I always have a hard time when it comes to the men.

Karen: Made the WW Smoothie with Mint today. Yummmmmmm! Gonna try Almond next. Didnt have any in the cupboard.

Was a real crazy day, glad its over! Gonna go relax with DH now and hit the sack early.
