Hi,

Robin, sorry to hear about your BIL--did you get the final report on the autopsy?

Farmbabe-was the turkey you cooked one from your farm?

Theresa-have you decided on a dog yet? and what kind?

Laurie-I'm glad we got to meet too. I'm usually in your area once a year, but I won't be there next year, the reunion will be here in louisiana.

later

hey there!

nope cindy, there's not going to be a "dog" till the "cat" is dead......i know that probably sounds really bad lol but my cat is old old old and she is like a queen here! lol I think she'd totally flip out if we were to bring another pet in the house.......and I'm really not sure I want a dog......dogs are like babies, they are a lot of responsibility whereas cats really aren't ..... you know what I mean right? :?: cats are low maintenance.

WW will be interesting tomorrow. wish me luck. lol actually I've done very well in the exercise dept.......it's the tracking dept I'm lacking it.

a few things for me to "brag' about ....my 6th grader got several awards at 6th grade graduation AND my dh was promoted to professor this week........not an easy task mind you....so I'm very proud of him. in his dept of 20+ there are only 3 other professors. ........just call me Mary Ann. (get it?! ROFL)

I know this is short, but I gotta run. I'll do better job posting next time :)

yes, Robin is in Dallas.

went to WW yesterday, -1.8, but still have a bit to go to get rid of what I put on the 2 weeks before :( .....I'll do it. cause we all know "Quitting isn't an option" :D and now that's I'm exercising on a regular basis, that will speed things up.

nothing much else new. ran lots of errands yesterday. bought a new light for the bathroom, we're starting construction on it the end of June.......totally gutting it and EVERYTHING will be new! :D also ordered my new fish tank, 58 gallon salt water :D anyone out there have a salt water tank......any tips would be appreciated!

Robin , I hope your dh's tests come out good!
We aren't using our pool yet. It is still too cold.

We had another thunderstorm this afternoon.(had one last night too) No damage or anything.

I worked on the pond today because the deck was still too wet to continue painting .
I'm off to haul more rocks to the edges. That sure is a butt work-out!

Hi everyone--
The kids have a half day today and tomorrow, then they're done. I've been helping my 5th grader w/studying for her 1st finals. Today is French & reading. The tests are unbelievably comprehensive, They tell the kids that they'll thank them when they get to high school. I think they're right. If they can do this, they'll be fine later on. They really raise the bar, and it's amazing to see how the kids rise to meet it. (and they like doing it---go figure) Both girls seem happy and are doing well. We haven't had academic awards, because school is not done yet, but we had athletic awards. Both girls got National fitness awards--dh & I never did.
theresa--good luck w/the fish tank. I never had a salt water one, but I love the way they look. Are you puting it in your den? 58 gallons sounds big--what does it look like? The kids will love it.
Robin --I'm trying to get into a "do all you can now mode" too. We had 3 neighbors & a high school friend each lose a parent in the last 2 weeks. We aren't getting any younger. I know I could do more healthful things every day.
Cindy -- are you getting ready for your next trip?
Viv -- how's your father? what's up w/the kids?
Lynn -- All healthy down there?
Laurie -- did Fri. come & go -- I lost track -- hi anyway
CAB -- Pls. visit & give us a new house update.
Ellie -- you too
Gotta run. Today I'll be studying Science & Language Arts. Actually, she studies, I just "quiz." DH saw one of her Science test (she got 103) -- and he said "I wouldn't have gotten half od this right" (he has a graduate degree). I said "I would have, I studied"LOL

So you've been having fun have you Theresa and Cindy.

I've been busy all weekend. Still trying to empty out some junk and get things straight to move Moms stuff up to my house. At this point I wish it was all behind me because they are calling for upper 90's with heat indexes in the 100's. HOT! HOT! HOT!

Was at Barry's school this morning. He received an award for being on the Honor Roll all year. That's my boy! (when he wants to be). Actually, I'm really proud of him with all he has been through again this year.

I'm ready to sit on DH. He thinks he's superman and he's not. He is just trying to do to much and he body isn't ready for it all. I told him to cut back to two days of rehab. If he doesn't say that he is when he comes home tonight, I'm gonna talk to them and let them know what's been going on.

Jill - still to cold up by you, come on down! I'll give you some of this heat for sure.

Theresa & Cindy - tag your turn again

Linn - everyone is doing great here illness wise, just DH still gets worn out really easily

OK, WHERE IS VIV???? You little  you! Come out and play with us!!!!

Well this week will go by really fast. Last day of school is Wednesday. Thursday is the move. Friday I die at the pool peacefully!

Talk to you all later.

Hey Everyone!

77 days till school starts! ......and that's all i'm saying about that!

Lynn, congrats to you and Barry! that's terrific! I know he's had a very difficult year. ---- why do you think you're dh is doing too much at re-hab? aren't they supervised? is he losing weight? if so, maybe he's on a roll and since "some" say exercise is addictive (LOL) he's just enjoying the way it's making him feel?! --- hey, how's your leg? the one 'homer' fell on?!

Linn, yes, it'll be in the family room. not sure what you mean by "what does it look like" I don't have it yet, had to order it. I haven't decided on what color the rocks will be in the bottom. ??? my fresh water tank has real pretty blue rocks in the bottom......thinking I want something different. .....maybe hot pink lol

Robin, how's it going this week for you? I can't remember what day you weigh in? are you still doing well taking the meridia (any side effects) ---- isn't Evan's b-day coming up? or did you already hve it? (CRS!)

Jill, I'd say hauling rock is a work out! lol be sure to take a pic of your pond....I'd love to see it! :)

doing well on program today. I'm on a taco salad kick. making it with Morning star veggie crumlbes and ff re-fried beans mixed with taco seasoning. dressing is ~2T ff sourcream mixed with ~3T salsa......yum! very spicy and only 3 pts! :)

I've also been exercising faithfully.......walking outside. I'm starting to see a difference in muscle tone in my legs.

see ya, Theresa

Hi everyone--
theresa-- I meant is it a fancy shape-I've seen hexagons etc. Does it go on a shelf or does it stand alone. 58 gallons sounds pretty big. i bet it will be beautiful.
Lauren just came home from today's finals -- she said they were okay -- Her reading final was 46 pages and she did 45 1/2 of them. She's only in 5th grade!! I don't think I even had that in college. I just had lunch w/ a college professor and she said --who wants to grade all that? We get report cards by the end of hte month, so we'll see. She has Science & Language Arts tomorrow--then she's done. The 4th grader is just doing projects, not more tests etc.

farmbabe
06-11-2001, 03:38 PM
17 days until school is out............

linn - they really work the kids here like that too; it amazes me!

Theresa - way to go with the walking. It sure DOES help with muscle tone. I've noticed that I have looser clothes this year and I even haven't had a WHOLE LOT of weight loss. I'm sure it IS from hauling those rocks.
Yes, just wait until you see the picture. I hauled every one myself.(they are very heavy!):smug:

Lynn - way to go, Barry! I bet he is pretty proud of himself and rightly so.
My oldest son made the Honor roll last term(didn't the first term; crappy teacher, really; she has left now.......long story) and I'm sure he'll make it this term.
My 13 year old really doesn't give a rip about his marks. He tries as hard as he is willing to and that's it.He'd rather be outside helping around the farm.

I have missed my walks the past couple of days but now I'm thinking of Theresa's legs, and I just gotta get out there tonight and walk!! :D

HI,

ALl this talk about walking makes me depressed. It sure will be nice when I can get out there, walk, and not hurt afterwards.

Lynn-congrats to Barry for getting HONOR ROLL award! We all know he had a rough year, yet he managed to stay on top of his schoolwork.

Linn-I still have a few weeks before I actually need to start getting ready for my next trip. WHich is a MISSION trip to Nicaguara.

Theresa-Things must not be too good at your house if you already started counting days until school starts. Isn't today his FIRST day off. LOL Way to go staying on program.

Farmbabe-getting a helmet for your son was a good idea.

Hey Girls -
Myinternet at work was down for over a week and drove me nuts, so I couldn't even get on to read the posts, never mind do one myself.

It's very hectic here and I have my usual end of the year nausea regarding next year's teachers and fellow classmates. Freaks me out completely. Need to take a chill pill. Anybody else get this way, or have a better perspective on how to handle this? Plus I seem to have had a falling out with a friend who I am fearing can get quite vindictive - her kids are in the same classes as mine and unfortunately, she has been known to play games....don't relaly know whats up with that but I do know i am tired of it!

I am back down to my pre-Florida weight, actually just a bit below. With all that upheaval with my Dad, I had put on a few, maybe 4-5, and it was so hard getting back on SB. Now I am back on track and feeling good - funny thing is I am not really exercising and it's still coming off. Hmmmm.....

Robin - what did they find as the reason for BIL's passing? Is it a congenital heart issue? My BIL has IHHS I think it's called, and DH has been checked for it, so far so good. Scary. Glad to hear you're not getting the weather, awful. Texas is full of extremes.

Theresa - you're doing great OP aren't you! You go girl! Good for you - I hope you keep it up during the summer. How was your meeting with Lynn, couldn't read about it last week....

Linn - bet you'll be glad when all that testing is over. Considering you practically live in NY, how evil do parents get in terms of trying to manipulate the teachers, schools, etc?

Lynn - so, what good stuff are you gettuing from your mom> Congrats to Barry, that's quite an accomplishment considering the rough year he's had. Harry's teacher told me he is on track for Honors classes in Middle school, justhas to keep up the grades for next year. Nothing like a little pressure.

Jill - you're doing well OP too. Good for you. How about setting some mini goals, any exciting events coming up that you have a special dress for? Right now I have a 7/4 40th bday party that i would like to look svelte for, but in the fall, 2 Barmitzvahs. Sigh, wish they were trips to Fiji, then I'd be motivated for the bikini.

We raised a little fence this weekend that blocks the view from our deck onto our neighbors' driveway. Now our deck is totally private, and all it took was a 6x8 fence! These neighbors are SLOBS - garbage on their property which still has all of last fall's leaves on it, toddler toys that are never played with, including a sandbox that is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Disgusting. Now I don't have to look at it!

OK, off to work~!
Anyone hear from CAB ...

Oh - LAURIE - did you get the SB info you were looking for>

Hey Girls... I just wanted to tell you about a great website I found that gives major major details about what's really in a movie so you can decide if you want your kids to see it. It's www.screenit.com Go see if you like it, now I don't think I can ever take the kids to see another movie! What is the point of all this sex/violence/profanity? Geez, where's Tipper when we need her?:?:

Hi there:)

Thanks Viv, for the movie tips. There is a movie out there that my kids want to see.I forget the name but I think Tom Green is in it. I am sure I'd read a little something about it and there is NO way in *@ll that they are seeing it.

I'm down 1 this week. I want another week with a 3 pounder.(loss) Will have to try hard.

We bought some patio furniture from Wal-mart yesterday. I'm just going to go out and set it up.
My mom had boughten me a willow chair for Christmas and I just got the call to say it's ready! (her neighbor makes them)

Cindy, you will be back to walking before you know it.;)

Well, I'm off to plan my supper for tonight and then I'm going outside.
 have a nice day!

Hi Everyone!

I'm wrapping up my lunch hour and thought I'd catch up with all of you. I'm working on a boring project here at work so I am procrastinating. :dizzy: My boss has decided to "work from home" this Friday afternoon. Right! LOL

Cindy- sorry to hear about all that rain. Has it stopped yet? We're supposed to get our share of the storm tonight and tomorrow. I'm just glad we finally warmed up. Have you gone to Nicaguara before? Where was your last mission trip? Girl, you know how to live life to the fullest. Good for you! :D

Linn- Jessica is starting 1st grade in the Fall. I'm not looking forward to doing homework with her each night. If you took one of the tests, could you pass it? :)

Lynn - Good news about Barry. Are you storing some of your Mom's stuff or are you keeping it?

Robin - I finally got my Meridia. I decided to take my first pill tomorrow since I will be hanging around the house. I've read the instructions but it doesn't say when to take it or if it should be taken with food. When do you take yours?

Viv- Don't let yourself get too stressed out with your kids' school. You go through this each year and it all turns out ok. :^:
I haven't tried SB. I think I'm going to pull out my WW materials and follow those with the Meridia.

Jessica and Garrett have finished taking gymnastics for now. Jessica wants to join the swim team in our new development. I sometimes wonder if DH thinks she should always be involved in something.

Garrett's 4th birthday is on June 30th. We're going to have the party at our house. Does anyone have any good ideas for games? (preferably outside ones) I was going to rent a moonbounce but it's expensive for only a handful of kids. We invited 15 but don't know how many will come. Any ideas would be appreciated. Party VIV must have some ideas! ;)

Well it is time for me to get back to work. Take care everyone!

Hi,

Viv-are you enjoying your totally private deck? ;)
What kind of sports are your children involved in this summer?

Farmbabe-congrats on being another pound down. Are you all done with the pond? OH, I am back to walking, just NOT to my full speed and I did have to cut back some. Today my knee is KILLING me. IT was hurting BEFORE I walked, but I went and walked anyways, now its really hurting. Guess, I shouldn't have pushed myself.

Laurie-I went on a mission trip last year to NICAGUARA and this year DH and the "kids" are coming too. We go with our church, spend a week fixing things, we start a house and leave the money with a carpenter to finish it. BUT for the MOST part, we minister to the people, they LOVE the visit, we go to the nursing home, the the girls orphanage, to the boys home, the hospital, and we go to a few night time festival and mingle with the people. Its an EYEOPENER------I came home an entirely differnet person last summer, and I can't wait to go back next month.

sooooo where is THERESA??????

MIA is BACK!!!

Afternoon Everyone!

Sorry I haven't been here for the past couple of days, but I have been running back and forth to my Moms and cleaning out the last of everything to go. My house is underneith all this stuff somewhere. Actually, I just uncrated all my Grandmothers china and put it into the china hutch. I now have service for 12 with all the serving pieces! It's georgous! I always did love here china. I also have a garage full of yard tools and everything else under the sun. Right now we own 3 lawn mowers! Don't know what I'm going to do with the 2 I'm going to keep. The third is heading for the dump. The kids each got new beds. They had 2 twins in each room. Barry now has a double and Rachel a queen. It's great! I have so much stuff here of silver serving pieces that I need to really take some time and sort through things and see what is really valuable. Allot of it is antique.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!!!! Hope you have a great day!

Laurie - I get to keep all of the things that I'm taking from Mom. She has no room at the condo to put this stuff.

Viv - Sounds wonderful! The deck I mean. I would love to fence in but with the small hill in the backyard there really isn't any way to have total privacy. Oh well. :(

Hi to everyone else! Need to get back to finding the floor around here. I know it's under all this stuff somewhere???? :dizzy:

Talk to you all later.

Hey -
Just wanted to say hi quickly - have to finish up at work and then get off to get the kids - it's the last day of school and needless to say, my stomach is not in good shape (even with Laurie's true advice!):( Much of my anxiety comes from this mystery conflict with a very vindictive friend, oh long story, anyway it is making me unhappy and I don't want my children victimized because of it.

Survived the IL's visit this weekend with the usual amount of annoying-ness from MIL. What can you do.

I've gotta run - ps my "drug" of choice yesterday was chocolate. Back on the wagon today!

Hey Viv , are you sitting there with a party hat on?? LOL
I've got until June 29 th to wait for the end of school. The kids start exams this week.........ugh!

I have this friend too that upsets me. She is so jealous and she is a sabatoger(sp.?). We seem to 'play the game' and I get caught in this web sometimes and then I just quit phoning her for a long time etc.(SHE phones me.........etc.) Long story but it bugs the **it out of me!

I'm best friends with her sister-in-law; that is where the jealousy stems from. I could go on and on.

Lynn - slow down; you're making ME huff and puff:lol:

Cindy - the pond isn't done yet. I haven't made the waterfall yet.

Laurie - oh how I wish my kids were your kids ages. Today I told Joel (15 soon to be 16) that I will NOT drive with him anymore until he drives the speed limit! (this was on NEW gravel poured today on our roads and it's so slippery then) No wonder I have grey hair!
How is the Meridia? I have thought about it.

Robin - how are you doing? How did dh's tests come out? What is new with the boys??;)

Theresa - hope you are having a nice time at your mom's.

I weigh in on Thurs. again; hope it's good.

Jill, seems it's just you n me for a bit here, huh? Geez, I finally get on with a post....

Weight still down, but sodium consumption up and weather so hot and sticky I feel super bloated.

I hear ya about the friend - I am learning that I need to be friends with people who are "grounded" as opposed to emotional. that's the bottom line. Oh, long and sordid story, blah blah blah....

What's the temp in Canada? It's boiling here!

So, where are all our buddies?

Dh had his physical last week, and his cholesterol was 171! that was good news..we went for his stress echo test today, and that was also great. apparently this test cannot see if you have small blockages, under 40% i think...but the doc said that with his cholesterol being good, his wt is okay, and he should get a little more exercise, his risk for a heart attack is small...the only thing is his blood pressure was a little high, but he is on medication for that and i make him go in every 3 months to get monitored by his doctor. so, as long as he doesn't get hit by a bus, he should be okay! :D

i had to go with my mother on monday for an mri and an mra...she had an open one, but they still put this helmet thing on your head, and that freaked her out a little....i had to hold her hand the whole time, she made it through. the neurologist called and said everything looks okay, but she goes into the office on monday....she still has her headache, 7 weeks now, and it gets worse and causes her to lose sight in one eye, and now she has high blood pressure...she has seen an ent, her gp thought it could be a sinus infection, the ent sent her to the neurologist, and she is seeing an internist on friday...i am surrounded by sickly people all of a sudden.

charlie had an accident with the pool today, he decided to run and jump off the hottub wall and slipped and fell on his ribs on the concrete steps and back into the pool....his belly is scratched up and he was hurting so bad he was hyper ventilating...i finally got him calmed down and decided he was going to be fine, no broken bones...he will be sore tomorrow. :(

i think thats it...finished up a week of soccer camp friday, attended a couple of birthday parties, i have done a little shopping...they just opened a bombay company outlet here and i found 2 tables there..i love them...one table is selling for 129 in the mall, and i got the same thing, in the box for 39!!! ya can't beat that!

dieting has taken a back seat, i am hoping things will now be relatively calm here so that i can get back in the groove....i did my shopping sunday night and still haven't managed to stay op...things just keep popping up....i am maintaining my 15lb loss though, and that is something i guess.

laurie - did you start the meridia? the only side affects i had were dry mouth, and not as "regular" as i was before...( a little constipation from time to time, i started eating high fiber cereal for bkfst and that has helped) the first week on it you will feel like you can go all day without eating, after that you have to work at it like with anything else. the meridia, i think, makes you not crave food all the time, which will help with snacking, and hopefully help you make better food choices. let me know how you are doing..you can always email me at home.

well, i hope everyone else is okay...didn't have time to read everything....hi to all!!!

Hi All!

My parents stayed with me last night for their last night in Maryland. They left here at 8:30 this morning and settlement on their house when great. They were done by 11 and on the road to Ft. Lauderdale. :) But I spent the night listening to everyone going around the house. In bed, out of bed, to the bathroom and back. Oh well I'll certainly sleep tonight.

Anyway...

Robin - So sorry for all the family problems. Hope your DH and Charlie are doing much better. Sounds like DH is on the right track, but OUCH! Poor Charlie. :( That's gotta hurt. Hope your Mom finally finds the right doctor to pin point the problems she is having. Take care of yourself.

Viv - I'm around, how's your Dad doing? Haven't heard anything more from you about him. Hope all is well.

Cindy - Mom and Dad settle on their new place on the 28th of this month. They are going to see my youngest brother in Orlando for a couple of days and then head down. I told them I would come down in August for a few well needed days to myself!

Jill - Sorry your post got bounced! See ya tomorrow. :D

Well I'm gonna go lay on the couch and see which happens first, my head hitting the pillow or the eyes closing.

Talk to you all later.
