What a weekend! Things did not go smoothly at my friends'. I had fun in general, but well let's just say they have a different parenting style than I do and they clash at times. I actually YELLED at my best friend's husband. My daughter was stressed to the max by the time we got home. Also, my best friend is the last person I thought would have kids. I really don't think she understands normal child development and thus she thinks my daughter is a total brat. She wouldn't say anything to that effect but after knowing her for 20 years, I know how she thinks. But my daughter is almost 2 1/2. Let me tell ya my friend's time is coming; her daughter is only 19 months.

So anyway. I'm home sleep deprived and stressed out but home. DH did nothing in the kids' room. He instead went for a90 mile mortocycle ride and then SUdnay morning went flying. He's going flying tonight too. GRRRRRR

But I stayed on plan this weekend!!

Hippo-I hope you got your boxes with your groceries. As far as factory work goes. I have never done it but my gramma who is 74 still works full time in a bread factory. She could retire but likes that work keeps her active. Her biggest complaint about the bread factory is the heat, about 90 degrees all the time and hotter in the summer along with humidity. She has to stand all day and she gets tired, but she is happy overall I think....mostly b/c it is good money with lots of over time. There are some jobs like de-panning that require you to lift and move very large very hot pans of baked bread and place them on a rack. That is a difficult job. My gramma stretches bread. She stands there and stretches to dough to the appropriate length and ensures they are all striaght on the pan so that they bake evenly. My husband used to work for Cutco knives, he didn't work in the factory, but I've been through it. They often had stools to sit on or nice rubber mats if thier job required standing. They all had to wear safety glasses in all parts of the factory and ear plugs in certain areas. I would have liked to have gotten a job there, they paid well!

WELCOME KITTY!! Great job on listening to your body and stopping when you were full. So many of us were raised in the clean your plate club that it's engrained in us. Great job for breaking free!!!!

Stephanie-I hate shopping alone, but my husband is a compulsive shopper. We spend WAY more when he goes.

Hope you enjoy the fair Jill! Sounds like you are doing well despite all the temptations. GREAT JOB! Have a good week in school!

Lizzy-GREAT JOB on the workout! I wish I had your motivation! Don't worry too much about having a high points day. You're right tomarrow is another day! Double Stuff Oreos, make sme want some. Then I think of what the filling is....essentially ALOT OF CRISCO and confectioners sugar. Same thing as many buttercream frostings. YEAH not really butter or cream!

Well ladies, as usual I have a incredibley long post here, so I am gonna jet. Tons of stuff to do today. I will probably do very little of it. Have a dancing banana kind of day every one! :cb:

07-25-2005, 11:06 AM
*dies laughing* :lol3: Oh man...Misty, that was hilarious! I love all the dancing icons for Monday...whew. Monday's never looked so good. ;)

And I'm sorry to hear about the clash at your friend's house. *shakes head* It's so frustrating, isn't it, when parenting styles butt heads. I don't have any human children, but for my kitten Callie, I have a very particular way that I mother her. And when people undermine me, I get very frustrated. For instance, when she was teething, I was trying to teach her that she could bite her toys but she could not bite people. But a friend of mine came to visit and was bitten by Callie and said, "Oh, it's okay. She's purring." I was so frustrated. I can only imagine how much more frustrating it is with human children!

But congrats on staying OP! :D

I keep forgetting to post my points and menus these days, which is slightly annoying to me, lol. I just wish I had enough presence of mind to remember to do these things. But I am staying OP every day, so at least there's that. Also, I'm pretty proud of myself because my personal trainer had to cancel our appointment this morning, but I went ahead and did my cardio anyway! :D Oh yes. Very proud of myself for that, lol. I've just been so tempted by laziness lately.

Well, I better hop off this thing and get some more work done on The Faerie Queene. Happy Monday everyone!

07-25-2005, 11:27 AM
Calpurrnia, that is so great that you went ahead without your trainer! w00t!

Misty, is your husband a pilot or does he just fly around a lot?

Had no luck with boxes. Am getting quite disheartened about this apartment. Have so little time left and no place. Not only that, but they require two letters of "personal reference" before you get a place here. My husband will sign one (not write it) just so I will get out of here, but I have absolutely no one else to ask. Talk about feeling alone! Not sure what to do. Would look really bad if I went in and said no one else would do one! It is so much harder getting a place as someone who is on their own. . .when they see a couple, there is no big hassle. Also, I have to get a letter from my old employer because I have not had my current job a full year. A big hurdle as well-no time for mail and I do not have anywhere for them to fax it. Am hoping they will be willing to send me an e-mail and I will print it out. Even if I get everything together and find a place, they might still deem I do not make enough to afford their place and then I will have to have a guarantor. I think it will probably come to that. . .not sure how they figure out how much is enough, but I make little and work is 25 hours a week on a good week. If it comes down to that, I would have to ask my husband to be the guarantor. And that would, well, suck.

Did you ever want to go into a vacuum of space where time around you is frozen and just breathe and drink cocoa?

07-25-2005, 12:54 PM
Good morning ladies!!!

Did you think that I went MIA!?
It's been a very busy last few days. My parents are visiting from Arizona, Lori was busy packing Satuday to leave for Duluth Sunday morning AND it was hotter than **** this weekend!

I've been doing good with eating, I have not been able to post my menu's, but I have not gone over points!
I will start posting again today.

Misty- Great job on staying on plan over the weekend! That can be tough!
:cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp:

Amanda- WooHoo to you for the cardio!
You go girl! :bravo: :D

I hope everyone has a great day. I still have alot of reading to do on here to catch up on everyone!

07-25-2005, 01:06 PM
OK, now I am posting for Lori ( izzysgirl)

She called me from Duluth this morning. Her and Byron have only been gone since yesterday morning and I miss them already!

She wanted me to post for her since she was short on time this morning.
She does have a computer to use there so she will be reading and posting when she can. :comp: Please send her good vibes when you can- she's there on vacation until Friday! She'll do great, I just know it.

Her brother better not be cranky up there- or else! :rollpin: :sumo: :stars: :censored: :nono:

She said that she is staying OP so far.
( points are going towards beer I'm sure!!! :D :D :D ) LOL
She went swimming in the pool last night and for a walk this morning.

Breakfast- Raisin Bran/milk
bagel w/ ff cream cheese ( she brought her own!)

OK, gotta go for now. I'll try and post more for her on my lunch. I have a story about her white pants for later...

to be continued! :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb:

07-25-2005, 02:14 PM
Hey your bad six week is over and now we are into week seven !!!!

Misty you have such a good attitude even being sleep deprived go girl!

Calpurnnia It takes real fortitude to stick with the exercise when you have an out. Proud of YOU!

Hippohips I hate typing that name for you! Have you visited any churches in your area? They could be a real source of support for you. You need to find some people that you can be encouraged by right now.

I love it when your mind is in a good place and you stay on program and you are doing the exercise and the numbers are dropping. This is a good place. Why am I fearing it will go away.... NOt this time I am going to stay the course and gitter done :)

07-25-2005, 03:16 PM
Hi everyone nap time...definatley a dancing banana moment :cb:

Long day. Kids are all catching up from the weekend. I emailed my friend and apologized for yelling at her husband. He's used to it, I practically lived with them in college. Poor guy my moody self along with his gf (my best friend) with raging PMS and school work.

Luflic I too feel bad when I type "Hippohips". We love you gurl, you're awesome that name doesn't do you justice! I think Luflic's church idea is a good one.

Great job on the cardio Amanda...now that is dedication!

Lisa and Lori you are doing so well even with travel and visiting family. ALong with school and work. GREAT JOB!!!

It's 2:16 I haven't eaten yet today. So I am off to grab something quick. Porbably a Michelina Frozen doofatchy. I bought two books this weekend. I erad one this morning I can't wait to read the next. So ahev a great afternoon everyone!!!

07-25-2005, 03:19 PM
I "ahev" to "erad" more. Maybe if I did more I might pick up a few spelling lessons, huh? LOL

Anyway have a good one all!!

Hellooooooooo, Sistaaaaas!

Well, Saturday I joined a gym and tonight is my first night going. I am really nervous but I'm excited, too. :tread: :ebike: :wl:

I'm so glad that this little community within the ww community has taken off. I would like to welcome all of the new members!

HEY! If anyone has Food Lion nearby, our Food Lions have the lean michelena frozen meals 10 for $10! I haven't tried them but I bought 10 of them last night. That's 2 weeks worth of lunches for me at work for less than I would pay for one meal out with the girls!

I'm off for now... gotta get my son to band practice and then I'm off to the gym! Wish me luck!

07-25-2005, 05:47 PM

I went to WW meeting today as I have a work meeting I need to be at tomrorow - drum roll - DOWN 1 pound EXACTLY! WOO HOOOO!

DIVA - Great job on the gym membership YOU GO GIRL!

As some of you might remember I am in 'temporary' housing while our house is being built, but once we are moved in, I am getting an Elyptical and my goal is to use it each morning before I hit the shower and get ready for work! Anyone else use an Elypitical ?

....ciao for now!......Mara

07-25-2005, 06:30 PM
Mara~ "weigh" to go on the loss!!! :dancer:

Diva~ Have "fun" tonight working on the new you! If it gets tough, just keep chanting "I'm a slimmin Sista" over and over in your head! :wl: :ebike:

Okay, so here's my horiscope for the day!!!! I thought I would share it with my sista's. :D

"There's no shame in making your primary focus something simple-like feeling good. When your body is healthy and your spirits are high, you'll serve your purpose the very best."

07-25-2005, 07:14 PM
woohoo, I've done better so far today :) I had a WW pizza for lunch, that wasn't too bad :) Not sure if I think its worth the 7 pts, but it was easier to grab, instead of making something for lunch.

I worked out this morning. I did 20 mins of the work out... lol I couldn't force myself out of bed any earlier. But I have felt sick and nauseous since then. I think it has to do with where I am at in my cycle. Since my period was early, I'm sure I'm ovulating early, and I get sick like this around that time. And it doesn't help that is like 95 outside with almost 100% humidity. Thank goodness for A/C! :)

Hippo, I hope that everything works out for you, and you are able to find boxes, and get moved out! Do you have a co worker that you know pretty well? Maybe they would write you a letter? I like Luflic, feel like I'm being mean when I type your name!

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

07-25-2005, 07:24 PM
I just realized that the reduced fat jif, has like the same amount of points as regular jif. Its actually .5 more points for 2 table spoons for the low fat. That kinda sucks. Oh well, its still good :)

07-25-2005, 08:17 PM
HI Sistas!!

Hope you all will bear with me until I get you all sorted out by name. This is only the 2nd time i've posted on this thread.

Hope everyone has had a :cb: kind of day!!

WTG Misty on staying OP for your traveling weekend. That is more than I think I could have accomplished. Also, Amanda I'm proud of you for going ahead & doing the cardio workout. That really takes determination. :cheer:

Hippo, I'm not sure exactly what problems you are having since I haven't beena with the Sistas from the start, but I hope you find some solutions and everything goes smooth for ya. And I'll make it unanimous like everyone else: I feel like I'm being mean when I call you hippohips.

Diva, good luck on going to the new gym. You'll do fine once you get there. ;)

I actually stayed OP today. It's too hot here to eat. Heat index is around 105-110. :sunny: I did go swimming at the Y for about 40 minutes. I only took 2 AP's for it because I don't really swim... I just paddle around & do some pushups on the pool wall, leg lifts, etc. I can't work out on dry land just now due to disc problems with my lower spine. Exercising in water is basically "no impact", but still a good workout. Sometimes I paddle across the pool using either "just legs" or "just arms". And I feel it a lot in my abs.
DD says she thinks my middle is getting smaller. Woo Hoo!!

Check you all tomorrow.

07-25-2005, 08:57 PM
Man...you guys are amazing! ;) And hi Kitty!! Welcome to the group! :D

I just have to say that every day I am more and more proud of you ladies! Even our setbacks aren't quite so bad because we come on here, we're honest with each other, and we just keep on going! Big round of applause for ALL of us! :D :cp: :cp: :cp: :D Hehe!

Also, Diva: HOORAY!! You're going to have so much fun at the gym! If you find that you're having a hard time getting yourself going, I personally find classes to be really helpful. And if you're more of a loner, then I absolutely suggest getting a hold of Bill Phillip's Body For Life book. It's like having a personal trainer for the price of a book. He tells you EXACTLY what exercises to do and how you should do them and everything. And then you just keep track of what you've done and when you can increase the weight or reps. It's just really fun. :D I hope you have a great time with your gym! Can't wait to hear more about it! :D

Well, I should really go and get some dinner. I'm s t a r v i n g...lol.

Have a great evening sistas!

07-25-2005, 09:07 PM
Hi, everyone!!! I hope everyone is having a great day. I went with one of my co-workers to our cafe to get a browning, but guess what!!!! I got there, and I decided to turn it down!! Yeah!! I was totally going to eat one, but I changed my mind. I was very pleased with myself!

I think we're all doing so great! I look towards all of you for inspiration. It's wonderful, and you help me be successful.

I don't have time to address all of you, but be sure to know that I've read all of your posts, and I'll catch up tomorrow.

By the "weigh," I had my WI tonight, and I'm down 2.0 pounds. Yeah!

07-25-2005, 09:08 PM
Girls- I only have a minute but I have to - argh! I don't know what! I'm going crazy here on vacation with the family (meaning my folks, my son, my brother and his son, his girlfriend- who is a good friend of mine, that's how they met- and her son) ARGH! I know you don't know the history here, and maybe Izzy can fill you in, but my bro and his girl are fighting and I'm crazy with it! And I've had very little "diet food" available... I know I should post this in the WI but I don't have the time to post on more than one thread- I haven't even been able to read many of your posts either and I hope no one is offended that I don't have time at the moment to respond to anyone individually- ah crap, see, I was going to post what I've had to eat so far today and now I have to go because there is more drama going on-

HOLY **** I'M GOING TO GO NUTS! SOMEONE FLY TO DULUTH AND STOP ME FROM GOING DOWNSTAIRS TO TIMBERLODGE TO EAT EVERYTHING ON THE MENU!!!! The gist is that I haven't been able to eat because eveything is so high fat around here- and we don't even have lite beer in the room- Hello? Does anyone here know that I'm on a diet???? I'm f-ing starving and stressed and t his is supposed to be vacation!

Anyweay, sorry about this crazy post and vent- I'm going to make some time later to write more... Send me some good vibes and dancing bananas girls, I'm cracking!!!!!!!

07-25-2005, 09:09 PM
Ah, also- sorry to the rest of you if this is rude- but Lisa, please, please call me tonight so I can get out for a smoke and vent! Call Dad's cell- L

07-25-2005, 09:27 PM
Oh, now you've done it, Lori. You've forced me to open up the arsenal. So take this:

The dancing bananas await you upon your return, as it will indeed be reason for us all to celebrate, to don the official Slimmin Sistas banana suit (you have one, admit it!) and do the official Slimmin Sistas banana dance! Hurry home... for we shall dance!

07-25-2005, 09:57 PM
:lol3: HA! The banana dance...hehe...

Lori, I'm sorry it's being hellish on vacation--that's not right at all! Are there grocery stores nearby where you can go get some yummy snacks for yourself? And remember, you have to eat! If you can't control what kind of food it is, maybe just control the portion size. :) Good luck, girl! We're all thinking about you! :D

P.S. I'll put my dancing banana suit back into the closet. Just let me know when it's time to pull it back out. ;)

07-25-2005, 10:10 PM
I like you guys, you are cracking me up!!!

You gotta love these guys: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

The Sistas have too much fun...Woo Hoo :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb:

07-25-2005, 10:45 PM
Hey, have we heard from Frances (Freedom & Light) lately? How about Jeanne (MeRam2)? Hey, laaaadeeeeees, where are you? Anyone else MIA that we have to track down? (Boy, this is a tough group!) :D

07-25-2005, 11:45 PM
Hi all!

I am here hiding from my kitchen. I've been through the cupboards and fridge and freezer. I don't have much adn what I haev I don't want. I had a bowl of FF SF icecream like substance, but it was not what I wnated so I let it melt on the kitchen table.

So anyway, I came in here to see what you ladies are up to...

Lori-So sorry your vacation is stinky. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Here are some good vibes and happy thoughts. I know how family vacations can be. My parents adopted four out of control kids with special needs. My mom shelters them and they are all but helpless even if they are capable, no manners or social skills. My mom's idea of a family vacation is inviting us along to watch her kids for her. But just remember it's only temporary. Do your best and know that this too shall pass ;) Also sometimes you can order things to meet your dietary requirments. Ask the lodge about grilled chicken and steamed veggies and other yummy stuff that fits your needs.

Stephanie-GREAT JOB on the brownie!!!! You have will of steel to turn down a hunck of cholate heaven. I am sooo proud of you!

Kitty-Keep the heat over there I thought 80 was bad today LOL Great job on the work out. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you are moving :) I love water exercise!!! I used to teach aquastep and aqua aerobics, it's great!! And with teh heat index THAT high I'd be in the water injury or not!

WTG on teh workout Lizzy!! Something is way better than nothing. I am seriously envying your AC!

Mara-My best friend and I used to workout in the gym in her apratment complex. They had an eliptical machine I HATED it, but my best friend LOVED it. I am a huge clutz and felt like I was going to fly off the thing LOL. But my best friend thought is was great and she looked great after she had used it faithfully for several weeks!

Diva-M.L.G. meals were on sale like that here a few montsh ago I stocked up. They aren't too bad. High on the sodium I think but what prepared food isn't? I like them. ANd even when theya ren't on sale two or three of them are still cheaper than my husband's daily lunch in town.

Well it's 10:42 I told DD she could stay up until her dad got hoem from teh airport. Hippo-He's working on his private pilots license. He had about 10 hours left but his instructor left for a bigger airport so he has to back track a bit with the new instructor. So I guess he ahs around 15 hours left. So anyway, I think I am gonna have to put DD to bed without him. He called and told me he landed at 10, it's a 20 minute drive, but he may have stopped at teh store or is chatting with his instructor. Either way I have a grumpy kid here.

Great my mouse just died. It needs batteries. Guess I will haev to TAB my way to submit reply lol. Well see you ladies in teh morning!

07-26-2005, 12:34 AM
Hey ladies! I hate only getting here at night because I really like to respond individually to everyone but with my school work it's just not possible. School is good though, just time consuming.

I've been good today and yesterday, haven't gone over points and I feel satisfied. I didn't have an ounce of water though until I got home today because my water bottle was at my mom's. Heaven for bid I drink from the drinking fountain! lol My first WI is tomorrow night at 6 so wish me luck. i know I will see a loss since it's my first week and I've been hopping on the scale everyday!

Maggie I read your post on the other topic and I just want to say that we all have those moments, for me its during finals, but we just have to move past them and not dwell on what we did wrong but pick back up the next day and start over. Sometimes it's hard because we think we've ruined everything with just one bad day, or a weekend of being bad. When in reality it's probably done very little. We're here for you and need you here for us! You are freakin hilarious!! I love reading your posts because you have the same sense of humor I have and it cracks me up! Anyway I hope you are feeling better today, try to keep your mind off it, if at all possible. It's been easier for me to eat good since starting school because I don't have a lot of time to eat bad or to even go to the store to get bad things. Anyway sorry about the book!

Izzysgirl sorry about the bad vacation so far. That sucks!! I hope you can talk to your buddy tonight and have some much needed vent time! I never tire of hearing family drama so feel free to post about it, gives me some entertainment! lol l/k

Hi Kitty! I'm new here too, glad to have you!

Misty sometimes the desserts we should have just don't cut it do they? I just bought some WW desserts so I am going to go try one after this post.

Hippo, where do you live? I'm getting the impression it's Canada but not sure. I wish I was there I would sign for ya! Hope you can find someone, no family around huh?

Steph yay!! Good for you!! Those are the kinds of things I am working on now, turning down things I know I don't need. It's hard but sooooooooo worth it!

Ok I don't mean to leave anyone else high and dry because I really enjoyed reading everyones posts but I need to finalize my points online (I joined WW online and love it) and then get to my homework so I can get to bed at a decent hour and exercise in the morn. I'll TTYL ladies!! Thanks for being here!!

07-26-2005, 01:12 AM
izzyw, I just love that horoscope! I always love reading the little ditties on my oatmeal packets too hehe.

Hippo, I hope that everything works out for you, and you are able to find boxes, and get moved out! Do you have a co worker that you know pretty well? Maybe they would write you a letter? I like Luflic, feel like I'm being mean when I type your name!
Unfortunately, no. I have only had the job for a month and being a call center, the turnaround (or is it turnover? turnunder? turnaroundandaroundandaroundthenupsidedown??) is excruciating. Out of the group of 20 that started, I am the only one left. People come and go so quickly and there are no munchkins to entertain us. :(

Hippo, where do you live? I'm getting the impression it's Canada but not sure. I wish I was there I would sign for ya! Hope you can find someone, no family around huh?

Yeah, I am in Canada. My family is on the east coast and they are completely oblivious to the fact that I am moving out. . .they do not even know I am married in the first place. heh Not a phone call I am looking forward to anytime soon "Hey mom it is me. By the way, I have been married for four years oh oh and by the way I am getting a divorce." :p Oh, the drama. heh

Sistas, do not be sad calling me hippo! I am not these kinds of hippos: http://www.zambiatourism.com/travel/wildlife/images/HIPPO.jpghttp://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:EMG_tbjNseUJ:http://www.animalyawns.com/Hippos/Hippo%2520Kiss.jpg

I am this kind of hippo!:

07-26-2005, 02:46 PM
Isn't that strange when no fat has the same. It makes me glad I have the real :)
Look how good we are doing I am so excited for us! I have an elliptical that I use daily. I also bike and have a treadmill I am serious man! The elliptical I can only do eleven minutes I am working my way to twenty. I have this equipment in the basement because I feel so awkward working out in front of people.

07-26-2005, 03:08 PM
Whoops just noticed my hippo did not show up.
