Its Metal Monster Monday...

I was the same as last week this morning. I was pretty discouraged, since I was very careful all week with the exception of the Jamaican patties, and a bit of potato salad Saturday night. I plan to give this Leptin plan three weeks, so that is two full weeks, and so far its not a magic bullet for me for sure....

Not much else is going on. I started two new knitting projects, and now I am not sure I like the one, and I may pull it out and start over again. Tom got in from camping about 3:30 yesterday, just in time to unpack, brew some espresso and head off to church. He had a great time, of course. :) What is it with men and camping? I guess it appeals to the caveman in them....

I don't have much planned for today. I guess I will work on knitting, and chill. :) I could read Harry Potter...but I think I will wait on that. Tom is reading it, and we would fight over the book!

MMM has me at around 157-158 and holding. I won't tell you what I ate yesterday... :s:

Happy Monday to you all...it's going to be a really, really hot one today...even worse tomorrow. Close to 90 today and 95 tomorrow...so glad we put in the pool. DH only has to go 30 mins to work today and says he's hoping he can get home early and take us out on the boat :D . THAT would be nice. And I have to take DD to her clarinet lesson and cut my mom's hair and then the day is mine to cool off somehow.

Oh, and I wanted to mention something about my Crystal Light. You know, I had a can of it that I swear had the splenda symbol on it, but when I went to buy some the other day at Price Chopper, I couldn't find one with splenda to save my life. I must have been hallucinating. Anyhow...does this make it a bad thing to drink? I notice nobody on the board mentioning drinking it.

Anyhow...I have to go psyche myself up to remain calm in the heat and humidity. I reeeeeaallly hate hot and humid weather...I get really miserable and irritated.

Okay...talk to you guys later...Kris

Hello all--I got back to Auburn last night. No time to do a long post, but wanted to let you know I"m home and that we had a great trip to NYC! In fact if you were watching Good Morning America last Monday you would have seen us!

I will try to get back on later this afternoon or tonight with a more detailed report and some pictures. I haven't had time to catch up, so I hope everyone is OK!

Talk to you soon!

Happy Monday Ladies

It isn't for me. I was up all night with my foot. Seems either the neuropathies or the RA or combination of both is acting up. My foot is swollen and sore. I can't even put it on the ground. I drug out the crutches and tried to limp along on them. I think I am better limping along on my heal. It is throbbing. Sitting with an ice pack, but not getting much relief. Driving was very painful. I tried to weigh but could not put my foot down long enough to get an accurate wt. I'll say I stayed the same. I was really bummed as DD brought her new treadmill in and I was ready to get up and get on it this morning. I can feel the fat climbing right on.

Cindy, so sorry about your dad. At least he is not suffering anymore and is a much better place that we are. I know no matter what it is very hard and you will miss him. Sending prayers for you and your family.

Susan, glad you had a great trip. I always watch GMA until I leaver around 7:20. I didn't see you

Tech, try to stay cool. It is going to be 99 here today with a heat index of 114. It was pretty hot all weekend. I tried to stay in a pool most of the time. DH insisted on cutting the grass around 5:00. I was sure I would come home fromthe store and he be laying in the yard from heat stroke. Unlike you, I love the heat. Give me 100 instead of 20 any day.

Monet, sorry you didn't see good results on the scale today. Give it another week of being 100% and see what happens. Thanks for starting the board.

Gator, I had a questions about the salad dressing you sent me. You stated it had 25 calories per TB. Canola oil has 120 calories per TB as does Olive oil. So how can that be. I made another dressing with oilive oil and vinegar and freaked out when I saw how many calories it had.

Bob, hope you are feeling better.

BF; SB cereal, strawberries, skim milk
Lunch: salad with 2 oz grilled chicken
Dinner: LF kilbasa, sauerkraut, veggie

Haven't had time to read the weekend posts. Will try to do that later. Have a great day.

Ok, I am bummed... back up this morning on my scale, but my scale has always been unpredictable and high. I'm not going to post the lbs. I'm just going to do really well this week and buy a new scale for MMM next week.

I've got some new motivation. Travis has decided that he wants to get healthy and lose weight with me. I al really excited about it.

ALso, I nursed Jake for the last time yesterday. I'm really sad but I just need ot to be over. I have enough problems with depression right now, and I can't spend so much energy making sure that everything that I'm eating is ok, and then dealing with the guilt every time he has a reaction. He's eating solid food 3 times a day now, so it was time.

I had a fiber smoothie for breakfast. It was a really good one! Going to my MIL's for lunch with the kids. We're having rotisserie chicken, salad and fruit. It'll be good.

Hey ya'll! We got back from camping on the lake yesterday afternoon, but I was too tired to post. We had a great time even though it was HOT, and no one came home roasted! :sunny:

Monet- I think I am more into camping than my hubby, though he seems to enjoy it. Thekids and I went over on Friday morning and set up camp ourselves. He did not get there till after work in the afternoon. He was there yesterday to stike the campsite. ha ha!

Cindy- our thoughts and prayers are with you! :grouphug:

Tech- We drink crystal light all the time. The kids love it. Sean is insulin resistant and actually this summer the doctors have started mentioning syndrome X or metabolic syndrome. We buy the wal-mart brand becuse they have so many flavors. We have not noticed any adverse effects.

I have to go to my school and start getting my clinic in order for the new school year! Hope you all have a great day!

Oh, BTW, Travis fixed the car yesterday, and Jake started sitting himself up and pulling himself to standing in his crib, all in one day!! I'm determined to stay positive. It's really hard right now. We finally paid the gas bill, but they haven't turned it back on. I'm still only able to cook with my crock pot and electric wok. I have a prayer counseling meeting today. I know we can make it out of this...

Good afternoon everyone! My weight this morning was 121.5#; I think I am losing muscle mass. I haven't worked out much in the past 2-3 weeks. I have to get back into it this week! I am going to make chicken parmigiana tonight, and a large salad; I am going to make rolls too, and will probably eat one. I have my abdominal ultrasound tomorrow at 4:30 p.m., so I can only eat one slice of dry toast OR a small piece of fruit before 8 a.m., and can only have sips of water throughout the day. I am going to be dying by the time I get that test done....I'll probably pass out due to hunger and dehydration (ha). I guess that's not funny since it could happen.

I took the girls to swim lessons, and then to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. We then went by the outlet mall, and shared a large caramel, dark chocolate apple...it was toooo good, and I ate toooo much. One of Britt's friends is over playing now. I cannot believe we are in the last week of July already; where does the time go?

Has anyone seen Madagascar yet? I am thinking about taking the girls, but don't know if it is appropriate for their age, and if Lane would get into it. If you've seen it and have any opinions, I'd like to know.

Monet: Sorry you didn't see a loss on the scale, especially since you were good last week. Give it a little more time, and you will know if this will be the answer for you or not. I never have gotten into the Harry Potter books....I've never even read a chapter; that's probably a good thing, huh? I've probably saved a couple hundred dollars over the past few years.

Tech: Glad the scale was good to you. I think the Crystal Lite is made with aspartame; that is why I have avoided it. I am really trying to stear clear of all artificial sweeteners, including Splenda. There is so much conflicting info. on it that I'd rather train my tastebuds to do without it. I am trying to use Agave for whatever I want sweetened....we'll see how long that lasts.

Fillise: Welcome home. I can't wait to hear about your trip and see pictures!

Cindy: ((((((HUGS))))). So sorry to hear about your DD; I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Jack: Sorry to hear about your foot; what a drag!! I hope you can get some relief soon and get on the new treadmill. Have you received your test results back yet?

Talitha: I cannot believe you had to deal with so many lung infections in such a short amount of time. Do the doctors know what makes you more prone to getting them? I think you need a new scale. I got mine at Wal-mart, and didn't pay too much for it. It is a digital, and is usually right on what the doctor's scale says. It is a Taylor, and has a lithium battery. Glad your DH has decided to get healthy too; it will make it so much easier for you to have him eating and exercising with you. Don't feel guilty about weaning Jake...you were able to breastfeed him longer than I was able to breastfeed either one of mine. I'll pray for things to turn around for you all soon...(hugs).

Thin: Welcome back; glad you had a good time camping. How many S'mores did you eat? .

Toni: It's only a #. It will probably be gone next week! Hang in there.

I better go check on the kids.

Take care,
Nat

PANCHO: You can get the Harry Potter books out of the library. They are very well written stories...I think you would enjoy them. I think they are destined to be classics....

I have to go make Tom's smoothies and lunch. He just got in, and is a wee bit cranky. (the air in his truck is not working....driving home in the heat has an adverse effect on his mood!)

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

I went back to work today, and made ALL DAY!! I still continue to feel better each day, but that deep congested cough is still hanging on! The Doc said it will be a long while until that's gone because it's the hardest to get rid of!
Thanks again for all of y'alls good thoughts! They helped!

CINDY...I'm so sorry about your Dad. We're here for you when you need us!

SUSAN..DANGIT GIRL....I would have waved, and something tells me that y'all would have waved back at me! Glad you're home and that you had a good time...any pictures????? I bet MS BELLE was glad to see her Mommy!!!

KRIS...Now you know how I feel with the humidity...we have it all year long!

JACKIE...sorry about your foot...you'll be back to the treadmill before you know it! Will y'all be going to the Tennessee game this year? It's in Lexington and I'm thinking about flying up for the game...I'll let you know
as the time grows nearer.

THIN...glad you're back and that you had a good time!

TONI...

MONET...wish I had some of those MATERS...I'm really craving a MATER SAMICH....

NAT...I bought some MADAGASCAR Birkinstocks Saturday, but haven't heard about MADAGASCAR the movie...

TALITHA..glad you got your car fixed...I know you are too.

Have y'all heard about the SAND STORM that headed to FLORIDA from the African desert? They say it's harmless, but we will be spectacular sunsets
out of it...they said the clouds of sand are the size of the US!!!

Hope I didn't miss anyone...I've off to straighten up the kitchen before my TV shows start!

Pancho/Monet: I just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I've read every book...have all the movies...and I'll attach a picture of my DD on Halloween a few years ago...she looks more like Hermione than Hermione does  We're rather into it here... :dizzy: Now I'm re-reading Goblet of Fire one chapter a day and then having DD read it and I'm making questions as I go along on vocabulary and general questions to be sure she 'gets it'. One chapter a day. I want her to read the book before the movie comes out in November. I think it's always good to do that whenever possible. I just love these books...what a phenomenal (sp) world she's developed. I just love emersing myself in the fantasy of it all.... :smug: That's what reading's all about, to me...

Cindy: :grouphug: I know you've been going through a lot with your dad these last months. Prayers and hugs to you and your family.

Hi to everyone else... Will do better replies tomorrow...

OH, and BOB: You should have seen me back in the 80's when air conditioning was a luxury I didn't have in my car. I remember full-blown bawling in my car, stuck in traffic, and being hotter than blazes and absolutely miserable!! Sweat pouring down my face and my freshly ironed work clothes soaked and wrinkled. I literally hate being hot. I don't mind nice, warm weather, but I really need to be able to cool off if I need it....whether it be in the pool, in AC or in the boat, what ever...I just wasn't born equipped to handle it. Gimme a blizzard N E DAY!! Maybe my blood is just too thick or thin or whatever from the weeks-on-end at 30 below zero...

Okay...off to go sit directly in front of the AC...

Ok...here is my menu from today. B- three eggs cooked in almond oil, espresso with half and half. L- handful of pistachios, green tea S- a few cherry tomatoes, a few blueberries right off the bushes, taste of chicken salad D- 1 string cheese, 1 laughing cow lite wedge. I was knitting all day and did not even think to eat lunch. Then I had to run to the store tonight, and did not eat dinner either. I snacked on a few nuts, and the cheese for dinner, and had a diet 7up with splenda.

I feel so drained now... Its time for bed! Nighty night!

Good Morning! I feel like I am talking to myself! :) I have a friend coming over for coffee this morning. Today is my married daughter's birthday, so they are coming for dinner. She requested I fix pork roast, low carb potatoes, gravy and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. I ordered a birthday cake at her store, so she will make it herself and bring it tonight. :s:

I am working on a knit shawl and forced myself to learn a new pattern. It is turning out quite nicely, and I feel like I accomplished something! :) I am actually knitting three colors all together, which is fun.

I hope everyone is doing well. I will check in later!

I'm tired, but much better. Didn't sleep so well with coughing all night.
I'm supposed to take the kids to Centenial park at 10 to play in the fountains with all of the Moms/kids from church. I know I should stay home, but I haven't seen any of them for so long b/c of Illinois. Selah was afraid of the fountains last time we went. We'll just see how it goes. Might not stay long.

Eating wasn't too bad yesterday, but could have been better.

B- Fiber Shake /w 1 c blueberries in it

L- Quinoa Pilaf with summer squash, eggplant

S- Carrot sticks w/ 1T Peanut Butter

D- Taco Salad w/ a few fritos

Jacob found this new way to get across the floor and it's absolutely hillarious. He sits himself up and then reaches his arms out as far as he can. Goes back down on his side, rolls his butt over and sits back up a little closer to where he wants to go. THen repeat, and repeat, and.... He looks lika a weebles. You know' Weebles wobble but they don't fall down" He's getting faster at it, so it looks even funnier.

Ironically, after deciding it was time to give up the breatsfeeding, the only thing that would have effected him yesterday was the salsa and cheese in the taco salad. and I didn't use much.

Tech/BOB- My first 2 cars were VW bugs. No AC. It was miserable.

MONET- I could knit all day, too. What ar eyou working on now?

Poncho- I have pretty severe asthma and allergies. I honestly think my problem is that I don't rest. I just keep going. I'm getting a bunch of allergy and other testing done on Thursday at 2. I can't eat all day either, and any water has to be at room temp for some reason...

TALITHA: Well, I am still kind of into rectangles..so this will be a shawl. I found a pattern I can read and understand for a triangular shawl, and I found some nice yarn yesterday, so I will start on that when this one is done. I also have a baby blanket I am working on, with a checkerboard pattern. Its too much like work though...the yarn I am using is hard to tell knit from purl on, so I have to count and count... :) I also found a pattern for a hat, and I am going to push myself to try it. I can't keep knitting rectangles all my life! (well, I could, but I think I should stretch myself! )

Brrrr its cold here in the computer room with the new window air in here. I've got a big thick robe on. The rest of the house is normal cool. DH had a blow out with his van on the way to work this morning so have to go pick him up shortley so he can get it fixed. Its blazing hot outside already. I did get out and water my tomato plants first thing. I have have little tiny tomatoes. I may get a couple off them next month. This is the worst tomato year for me. WAAAA I want a fresh tomato!!! Speaking of which I've just got to get in some more vegetables. I'm not eating enough of them. So hopefully I've got some yellow squash I can have tonight along with a salad. Think we're going to barbeque pork steaks for dinner. Well got to get out of this room before I freeze... Have a happy day....

Happy Tuesday.

My foot is alot better today. I can at least walk. It still hurts some and is swollen some, but better. Maybe I will be able to get on the treadmill tomorrow.

We are having 8 friends over for dinner. Just burgers on the grill. I made green beans and a salad and a new potato cassarole. Boston cream pie (none for me) as it is one of the guys birthday and it's his favorite. We take turns once a month going to someone's house (during the summer).

bf: cereal bar, green banana (need some potassium to counteract the lasix)
1/2 oatmeal cookie (they were hot out of the oven when the man brought them in and I couldn't resist.
lunch: lf polish sausage, fruit
dinner, burgers, green beans, salad.

Nat, hope your test goes ok tomorow and you don't die from hungar. No results yet, I may call later today and see if they have them.'

Bob, glad you made it all day at work and are on the mend. We haven't made any plans for the game yet. My SIL is a huge TN fan so they try to go when it's in Lex.

Monet, I had to laugh about your DD making her own cake and bringing it to dinner. I can't beleive you forgot to eat. Don't think that has ever happened to me. Have you tried the new fun fur and different yarns? Scarves for winter made out of that yarn were poplar here last year. My sister even made the grandkids some purses out of it. I need to PM you about something later.

Talitha, hope you feel better soon. I was reading your menu and noticed the Quinoa Pilaff. I was just reading an article about that being so great to prevent breast cancer. Do you get it at a health food store or at a regular grocery?

Toni, I feel your pain. It is always freezing here at work. I have to wear long pants and a sweater all day and keep my heater under my desk on and I am still freezing. I threaten to bring a blanket.

Have a great day. Hope to be back later.

MORNING EVERYBUDDY!!

Yes, BOB is home, but not because I'm sick. The total Hospital computer system crashed last night around 7p.m. and was still down when we got to work. At 9:30 a.m. the Boss came and told us that we would probably be the last to be brought back up and it would probably be all day. We were told to come home, they would call us around noon and let us know what to do. This typically happens at least once during hurricane season and has in the past been 3days. Those were the days when I worked in Bed Control and we didn't have the leasure of going home. We had to stay there and do everything by hand until the system came back up. OF COURSE, I DO REMEMBER THE DAYS BEFORE COMPUTERS....all we had were typewriters and we ALWAYS did EVERYTHING by hand! AH...those were the days!

KRIS...I'm a child of the 50's and 60's...we didn't have air period! We had a window fan in our house that cooled the whole entire house! We went on vacation here to Sarasota every summer...no interstate highway, no air in the car...NADA!!!! BUT...you have to agree, it's hotter now than even 15 yrs ago...and it keeps getting hotter.. ALL THIS DANG CONCRETE!!!!

TALITHA...My very first car ( I didn't get one until I finished college) was a 1972 Super Beetle. It was the last year that the Beetles were made in Germany and sent here. I loved that car!! No air! But it had a **** of a radio!

TONI...keep cool!!!

MONET>..I fixed a pork roast Sunday and it tasted like CRAP! I thew it away after dinner!

I'm off to do something around here!

Good Morning:

I didn't get to bed until after 11p.m. last night. We are assembling shelving units for Britt's closet. DH and I stayed up and put them together in the family room and moved them into her closet while she was sleeping. DH just has to bolt them to the walls when he gets home. She now has drawers and lots of shelving in her closet, and we can better organize everything.

The girls just finished a treasure hunt I put together for them. There were 20 stops, with M&M's along the way, and a big surprise (toy) at the end. They loved it; it was a lot of fun for them.

I was at 123.5 today (up 2 from yesterday). It was like the feast before the famine for me yesterday...I ate way too much, knowing I couldn't eat today. Crazy, I know.

I am going to stay home today since I won't have much energy with no food/drink in my system. I will then go to my ultrasound and take Britt to her pom/cheer class.

Monet: Someday when the kids get a little older, and I have more "me" time, I might read the books. Reading puts me to sleep. Glad you are enjoying your knitting. I am sure you enjoyed dinner with your DD last night!

BOB: I am glad you were able to make it a full day at work; that's great. Enjoy your non-sick day off today. The Madagascar movie is supposed to be about some animals that escaped from the zoo. It is an animated film for kids.

Tech: Isn't it amazing to read about the author of the HP books.....a single, struggling mother trying to make ends meet. Well, she has nothing to worry about now, does she? Cute picture of your DD.

Talitha: Have fun getting out with the kids today. How cute...Jacob getting around. I remember Britt used to roll to where she wanted to go. Good luck with your testing on Thursday; maybe they will be able to track down some culprits that you can avoid in the future.

Toni: Glad you are enjoying your cool computer room; how nice that must feel. I hope your DH's van is up and running now.

Jack: I am glad to hear that your foot is feeling better, but I wouldn't push yourself on the treadmill. You may want to take some more time off so you don't re-injure it and end up missing more time in the long run. Enjoy your get-together tonight!!

The kids are getting restless, so I better go!

I will check in later.

Hey everyone! My friend called this morning, and said she would not get here until 1...which is ok, since I planned a lazy day. I do have to fix dinner for everyone tonight, but that is easy. :) I went out this morning and spent and hour and a half picking blueberries and tomatoes. My back is killing me from bending over, but I have a half gallon of blueberries and a ton of tomatoes. I am probably covered with little bugs too, but I am not looking too carefully. I dove into the bushes to get big berries, and actually enjoyed myself. I could have picked much faster, but I was intent on getting all the 'hidden' ones.

I had a nice surprise this morning...the phone rang, and it was TALITHA!
We had a nice, but a bit disjointed chat. Selah wanted her to read a book and Jacob wanted out of his crib, so there was lots of sweet baby noises, which probably don't sound as sweet to her as it did to me! :lol3: I do miss those days....

Breakfast was three Omega 3 eggs, and my cod liver oil, with a cup of espresso. I just polished off a Pepsi One with splenda.

BOB: Wow...how fun that a computer crash sends you home! Tom has stayed at the office in a power outage...and he is a computer programmer! I mean, what do you DO when the power is out and all your work is on a computer? Crazy man!

TALITHA: It was great to talk to you! We need to plan a get together. Soon... Did you go play in the fountains? They look so neat! I have been by them, but never gotten out of the car to play!

TECH: Growing up, we never had air in Chicago...I remember when the store first got air conditioning! We would feel like we were freezing when we went shopping! It gets just as hot in Chicago as here...its just that it only lasts a month. Here, its hot as an oven out for at least three months. And in Florida, its worse! I tell Tom if he wants to move to Florida I will go with him on three conditions: 1, the house is on the beach, 2, it has a huge picture window facing the beach, and 3, it has the best air conditioner money can buy! :s: Here in Hotlanta, we turn the air on around June 1, and it doesn't go off until the weather cools in mid September.

TONI: The idea of a room too cold appeals to me! I think I would sit in there, just to enjoy being cold! :) How is your eating going? By pork steaks do you mean like chops? How do you fix them?

JACK: I will not eat any cake if you don't eat any Boston Cream pie...

PANCHO: I understand the time for me problems...I don't think I read much until the kids were older. And I homeschooled them for years, so there was little time for fiction...I tended towards reading text books for lessons, or fiction I wanted to be able to discuss with them. Do keep the HP books in the back of your mind because they are well written. Tom is so engrossed in this latest one, he never asked me why I did not fix dinner last night! :lol3: I bet tonight he will be chomping at the bit for everyone to leave so he can read some before he turns in for the night!

FILLISE: I am glad you are back...I hope you are not TOO busy catching up! And of course, I have to ask, when are you coming to Atlanta? Would you be up for a trip to meet up with Julia in Fayetteville? Its about an hour south of Atlanta off 85...which would be closer for you, right?

Ok I am off to find a spot of lunch before my friend gets here!

Hi everyone,

Well my rear fell off the wagon...lol....but I'm back on with a vingance. I want to know how everyone gets the weight thingy at the end of your posts. We had a great time in Houston, TX. Went to the zoo and saw animals we have only saw on TV. We got to see banana trees loaded with bananas. And I got lots and lots of rest the rest of the week. I still have to get a scale we keep forgetting when we go to Walmart :goodscale Hubby and I both took a camera and wouldn't you believe that both of them only had about 3 or 4 untaken pictures on them :yikes: Made us so mad!!! Oh well you win some and you lose some....mostly losing this weight...Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Monet-Hope you had a great time with your friend. When I picked blueberries at my cousins I ended up with about 7 redbugs I scratched the fire out of them and dosed them with a q-tip with Clorox..I didn't have anymore problems with the little buggers.

Bob-So glad your feeling better...What happened to your pork roast...I usually soak mine overnite in seasonings and then cook it. I find that marinating overnite makes meat taste so much better.

Pancho-Hi there sounds as busy at your house as it is at mine...Have to have the kids something to do.

Jack-K sorry about your foot. Have a great time with your guests tonite.

Toni48-I like it cold. I can hardly stand the hot weather we are getting here. Speaking of tomatoes my big tomatoes didn't hardly make anything this year but my romas are really putting out. They are really good.

Monet-I have tried knitting and crotching but when I put it down over 2 days I can't remember how I did it...lol

Talitha-I know what you mean about the breastfeeding...I had to cut out a lot of things I was eating...legal things for me but caused Ashley so much gas. I hated when the time came for me to wean her to...but after about the 3rd time she bit me I called it quits....

techwife-Send on the blizzard.... ;)

Well have to run!!! Everyone have a great day and have a great nite!!!

I AM HUNGRY!!! I am trying not to think about it, but my body is so accustomed to eating every 2-3 hours....my stomach is really growling. AND, it doesn't help when you have to prepare breakfast, lunch and snacks for the kids. I still have over 3 hours to wait too!

I already have an Odwallah bar packed in my purse for right after the scan. I am then going to go to Fazoli's and get a Submarino....not legal, but filling. That will be my dinner and I won't eat anything when I get home.

Monet: I guess you have a little time off now until Tom finished the book, eh? We've thrown around the idea of home-schooling, but it takes a very special individual to do that type of teaching, and I really don't think I am cut out for it. I feel real comfortable with the private christian school that the girls go to, and feel they are getting a good education there. To be completely honest, I think the socialization is good for them, and the break is good for all of us. Speaking of HS, have you heard anything from Country?

Heart: Why haven't you posted lately? Where you good over the weekend?

Where is everyone else at?

I guess I better go find something to do to keep myself busy and my mind off of food.

Take care,
Nat

PANCHO: Homeschooling is a calling...if you are called to do it, you will know. Lots of people would say to me, "I could NEVER do that" when I was homeschooling...and they were right. But if they were called to do it, it is easy! I think the socialization works both ways. It can be good, and it can be bad. Depends on the situation. To those who thought I was warping my kids, I pointed out that the most beloved children's author just about of all time, Laura Ingalls Wilder, was homeschooled, and did not seem to suffer any ill effects... I have not heard from Country, though I tried to email her. I wish she would post, or drop someone a line and let them know she is ok. I am sorry you are having to go so long without eating!

THUNDER: I am glad you got a lot of rest and had a good time! I loved going to the zoo when I was growing up. I grew up in Chicago and we had two great zoos, so I was spoiled. The Atlanta Zoo is not too bad, but nothing like I was used to. I used to take my kids to Brookfield Zoo in Chicago whenever we went to visit. We are rather excited as we heard they are building an aquarium here in Atlanta! Now THAT is something I absolutely love to go visit!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!!

I got called back in at 1p.m. but you can bet your patooty that my big arse came up out of there at 4:30!!!! I think I got 20 accounts done today in the time I was there this afternoon. I had gotten all comfy, been to the bank and to BLOCKBUSTER!!! THEN THE PHONE RANG!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

SONYA..I don't usually marinate my port roast, I have found that if I pop it in the oven frozen and cook it really slow that it literally falls apart and tastes wonderful after seasoning it with salt, pepper and garlic. This roast came from Winn Dixie and I'm not really a fan of their meat BUT...I was there and it was a deal... On a good note though...when I got home today, my Mom had fixed meat loaf which is one of my all time favs! I had already fixed fresh green beans on Sunday so I am in HOG HEAVEN!!!!

MONET...You better get TOM...THREE MORE JOBS FOR A HOUSE LIKE THAT....LET ALONE AN AIR CONDITIONER THAT BIG!!! I would love to have y'all here though...just think of all the mischief we could get into!!! :s:

NAT..let me know how that movie is...you know how I love movies! Have the Girls seen RACING STRIPES? It's the cutest movie about a half zebra, half donkey that becomes a race horse. The animals all talk in the movie.
I think they would enjoy it.

JACKIE...We must have been posting at the same time this morning...Glad to hear that foot is better...have you tried the treadmill yet?

Ladies, I'm off to eat a bite..

I did very well at dinner. I ate a slice of the pork roast, a serving of sauerkraut, asparagus with a bit of hollandaise, two small cubes of the low carb potatoes, and about one teaspoonful of cake, just to try it. :) It wasn't even all that hard to do. I had a snack of a handful of pistachios before dinner, and a Pepsi One.

The knit thingie is coming along well. I am over half way done now, and I can't wait to finish it! I just don't know what I will do with it...though I am thinking about giving it to someone. Not much else going on here, so I am going to go knit. Tom is at Hogwarts... (ie he is reading Harry Potter...) so I am on my own I guess! :) Ruth and Erik left a few minutes ago...she liked her dinner and present, but was anxious to get home as she has to work tomorrow at 7am!

Hi everyone. Thank you all for the well wishes and consolidations. Its been a rough time. The first few days I didnt think I could even get through but of course I did. Today is a little better. My dad will be SO missed.

I havnt really paid attention to my eating ( it really didnt seem to matter at the time) People have brought so much food over to my moms. Mostly its chicken dishes so it hasnt been too awfully bad calorie wise.
I did tempt to get on the scale this morning just to see where I was and was pleased to see that it was back to my lowest. Im sure I gained something over the past 4-5 days but maybe I already lost it or maybe with all the stress kept it from coming on.
Im sorry I dont have time or the energy quite yet for replies . God bless and again thank you for all the kind words and encouragement.

As someone that was home schooled all the way through school, I thought that I'd give you my take on the subject.
My mother was a home schooling pioneer. My sister was the first 'Home schooled' to be accepted into college in VA, back in '80-something. My mom has been doing it for over 23 years (the youngest 2 are still at home).
SHOULD YOU- Only if you feel like God has called you to. Don't do it because your friends pressure you. Never because you just miss your kids. Never out of guilt. It is so much work. It's a whole new level of parental responsibility. Every decision you make and every word from your mouth has the potential to 'bless or curse' their education, self-esteem and future. I've seen absolutely amazing things come from it. I’ve also seen some situations that I wish I could forget.
SOCIALIZATION- This is the first thing that people are usually concerned with. When I was home schooled, not even half of what is available now was around. Many times I had to explain to people what home schooled meant! I was better socialized than ANY of my friends because my parents were able to chose healthy situations for me to be in. As adults, we don't get to just 'socialize' all the time. Not many of us see our best friend every day. I feel like letting that be a priority can set up an unrealistic expectation of adulthood. Think about it. Why are so many '20-somethings' hesitant to get a real job, start a family, make a commitment, etc. It's the same thing as a youth group mentality to me. If the youth groups main focus is fun instead of learning about God, then what teen is going to like the transition into sitting in a 1 hour service where you are learning about your Heavenly Father (instead of having candy thrown out into the crowd, or playing games). There is a place for the fun and socialization. Just like in adult life, it should come second.
EDUCATION- I think the hardest thing as a home-schooled mom is keeping your perspective on what your involvement in the education should be. It's your job to show them God’s love, first and foremost. If it's too stressful for you to have them 24/7, they should be in school or you should have other moms to share teaching with. At the very least, have a day when they are in some other classes so you can regroup and refocus. If there is a subject that you cannot give them what they need, FIND A SUB. Find other moms and use each other's strengths. We went to a friend’s house to learn Spanish and they came to our house for hands on chem. lab. Find a coop.

FINANCES- Don't do it if you can't afford unless you have resources already available. It's not cheap. You have to be willing to sacrifice for it, just like if you were paying for private school. They still have to learn, even things you don't have the knowledge to teach. It's your responsibility to get that to them.

My parents made SO many mistakes teaching us, and they affect my every day. BUT not anywhere near how much the good has made me who I am.

Oh my gosh I've never heard of cooking a pork roast frozen. I'll have to try that too. How low a temp do you put it Bob????? Monet pork steak is a cut of meat, its flatter and bigger than a chop. We grill them. And they're soooo good. We had that with stuffed portabella mushrooms and a big salad for dinner last night. Cindy my love and prayers still for you... Its so good to see you posting. Have to go a friend is on her way over....

Morning, everyone! Breakfast was some sliced buffalo chicken deli meat, espresso and a few handfuls of fresh blueberries from my bushes.

I think I finally got James awake enough to get moving. The girls opened today, so they are gone already. I may actually have the house to myself today! Woo hoo!

James put my new CPU fan in last night, and my computer sounds like a jet plane ready for take off. The fan is awesome though...very strong and I swear the whole room feels cooler! Now my computer should be set for a long time! :) I think I will probably get this shawl I am working on done today. Its about 3/4 done, and I started on the second skein of each color last night. Tom demonstrated a weaver's knot on the ends for me, even though I think the official way to start a new skein is to just leave a tail at the end of a row! :)

I will be back in a bit...

Now that I'm done with my home school rant, I'll post a real post.

Eating was ok yesterday, until I had some Lundt Truffles while watching 'Constantine' last night. I'm still not sure what I think of that movie. Anyone else seen it?

I'm going to the DFM in a bit. Need to stock the kitchen. I'm going to try to stick with the list from the Maker's Diet. I'll let you know what great deals I find..

Happy Wed.

Out dinner went great. It was fun with all the people. The girls stayed inside and the guys out, it was very hot out there.

Nothing else going on. I am doing payroll this week so I am pretty busy.

I got my echo report back and all was fine, I had a flapping in one valve, but she said that is not unsual. Glad it was ok, but doesn't give me any answers on the retaining water.

I think I will see my PCP and pursue this thyroid more.

Nat, funny how when we know we can't have anything to eat, we want it more. Hope you get some food soon and your test goes ok.

Thunder, tighten that seatbelt in the wagon and hang on.

Monet, I didn't eat any Boston cream pie, how about you? Even sent the left over pie home with the birthday boy.

Bob, isn't that always the way, get into something and they call you back. That happened to us once and I went home after just sitting in the conference room for 2 hours. How stupid was that. No one would say we could leave and it was getting hotter by the minute so I said call me if it comes back on and headed out of there.

Cindy, hang in there, it does get easier. Hold onto your wonderful memories and let them console you. :grouphug:

Toni, are you staying cool? We are expecting storms today, are they coming from your way?

Talitha, have fun shopping today. You had some very good points about homeschooling.

Got to run, Have a great day.

Afternoon everyone! Lunch was a few slices of the chicken, a wedge of Laughing Cow lite, and a handful of macadamias. I am drinking a Pepsi One right now as a snack. I got my books from Amazon...one pressure cooker cookbook, and my Rosedale book. I ordered another book on Leptin, so I hope it gets here tomorrow.

I have a few things to get done for Tom this afternoon, but I hope I can spend a bit of time relaxing and knitting...

I will be back later!

Just a quickie---I'm still here. But I was TERRIBLE yesterday. I'm doing pretty good today. I decided that I'm not weighing until Mon, Aug 8th. I'm sabatoging things by expecting a loss and then not receiving one and going to heck with it. So the scale is in the closet until then. Here's my menu for today:

Bf- was omelette made with 4 egg whites, 1/2 spoon olive oil, red onion and green peppers and 12 grapes

Snack- small orange and 2 % cheese block(1 serv, 60 cals)

Lunch- was gross, but I ate it anyway. I had a salad made with turkey breast, apple, almonds, red onion, cukes, and then a couple spoons of balsamic vinegar. This did not taste like I had envisioned it. Any salad ideas?

Supper- will be beef and cabbage casserole and small sweet potato

Oh yea, I had 2 diet cokes with splenda(was aiming for only 1)

Got my workout in(40 minutes cardio followed by leg toning and abs)

So I'm doing okay today! Now to just keep at it....Gotta run and start supper.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

OH MY GAWD....Were we busy today!!! With the entire hospital system down, it effects all the offsites as well...WHEW!!! When 4:30 came, I was the first in the car! My shoulders are very tired. I was supposed to take Kate to the Pain Ctr for a followup this afternoon, but I had to reschedule that. I've just missed too much work this pay period...from being sick and then 4 hrs yesterday...two more I just couldn't imagine!

SONYA & TONI...First, I never buy a BEEF OR PORT roast over 4lbs. I think they tend to be tough any bigger. As I said yesterday, I don't marinate...I take the roast out of the freezer and rub it with salt, pepper and garlic. I put it into a deep roasting pot, throw in some celery and sometimes I half an onion and throw in there.
If I'm cooking a beef roast, I go ahead and throw in the carrots and potatoes. Only celery and onion in the pork. Put the pot in the oven and turn it on to 350 degrees. Usually done in 2-2 1/2 hrs no more than 3hrs.
Oh...in the beef roast, I usually pour about 3 tea cups of water and the pork, I put that on a rack in the pot and put enough water so it will steam some.
There you have it...YUM YUM YUM...most of the time...I just can't figure out
that one Sunday... AND, I always try to get a roast with at least one bone in it...give it so much more flavor!

 to EVERYONE...My shoulders are killing me...I'm off to recline!

Good afternoon:

I hope you are all having a great day. I was so bad last night, after my test....I ate the Odwallah bar and then got the Submarino at Fazoli's, and I ate the entire thing; they are huge too. I felt so miserable. I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day. Today, I haven't been that great either. I had a sprouted grain english muffin and an egg for breakfast. I then went to our Mom's Club general meeting (at Peter Piper Pizza) and had three slices of pizza and a salad. I then had a small blizzard at DQ. I am back on track now, and don't plan on having anything else naughty. I am going to have leftover chicken parm. tonight with a salad.

I am supposed to get Lane's 3-year picture taken tomorrow. I will get one with her and Britt together too. We will spend a little time at the mall while we are there.

Monet: I applaud you for being able to homeschool; I am sure your children benefitted greatly by it. There are a lot of social activities for children to partake in away from school/home. You did great with dinner.

BOB: The girls have not yet seen Racing Stripes; I remember seeing previews, but we never went. I will let you know how this one is if we end up going. I guess a frozen roast turns out more tender?

Cindy: So good to see you. I am sure times are very tough right now. We are here should you need anything...even to just vent. ((((HUGS)))))!

Talitha: Thanks for the words of wisdom on home schooling. I really know that I am not cut out for it. I am sure that any "mistakes" that your DP made couldn't be any worse than some "mistakes" our educators make. After all, we are all human. I have a friend who talked me into trying the Arbonne RE9 kit. I love it, but it is so darn expensive. I have another friend who sells it, but isn't really doing much lately since she just had a baby. She told me she could get it for me for what she pays for it. She also told me that it doesn't cost anything to be a consultant, and you don't have to meet any minimums, but can get a discount on everything that way. Hmmmm.

Jack: Congrats on the clean echo report. I had mine done today, and she asked me at one point if I was having a strong palpitation; I guess she saw it on there. I'm not sure when I'll get that report back. I just want to get all this stuff done! Glad you enjoyed your evening.

Thunder: Glad you are back on plan today; keep up the good work!!

Heart: Good idea not to weigh until you are ready. I hope you are back on plan today and hanging in there.

I gotta go!

Take care,
Nat

Well, we are on our way to a new school year! :^: I went to an inservice this morning from 9-1. It was a refresher course on diabetes given by our resource lady from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Scottish Rite). It was very interesting and I got some ideas to help Sean as well. I don't know if I mentioned it before but his cardiologist is now discussing metabolic disorder with us. Anyway, my little school is so small that we do not have any diabetics, so I have not had any experience with it in about 10 yrs. I did not know that they do not use the exchange system any more, they count carbs! They get insulin units in a carb/unit ratio such as 10 carbs=1 unit of insulin. It was great information and I feel like I would be much more comfortable now if I get any diabetics this year. Some of the other interestig facts were that in the year 1800, people ate an average of 8 lbs. of sugar in a year, now it is 160! Our pancreas has to produce 20 times more insulin. No wonder 1 in 450 kids has diabetes nowdays! :eek:Well, I better go. We have meet and greet tomorrow afternoon and I have somethings to get done around here in the morning!

I am just checking in after dinner. I had a sole fillet sauteed in olive oil with shallots and garlic, some olive sauteed eggplant slices and a fresh sliced tomato. I drank a diet 7up with it, and ate a few crumbs of Tom's 70% Sharffenberger chocolate. I had a snack of a handful of macadamias before dinner, and I went swimming before that. After I got out of the pool I picked a few handfuls of blueberries and ate them. Now I am going to go and try and finish that knitting I am doing. I only have like three more repeats on the pattern and I am done with it! :) Then I need to work on my baby blanket and think about what to do next!

Can't sleep, wide-eyed. Well, I made it thru the day! I only got hungry one time, ironically less than an hour after lunch. But it subsided, thank goodness. I wonder how many days it will take for me to notice a change in the mirror? Usually I notice my face and then my gut getting slimmer. I took my measurements as well today and the last time I took them was back in September! I was 162 pounds(14 less than I am today) and 10.25 inches smaller(SIGH), I measure from head to toe. It's frustrating knowing how I've gained so much back this year. But at least I've "caught" it before getting any bigger. What kind of salad dressings do you guys use when you use meat and fruit together in the salad mix? Well, I'm off to check emails....

HEART: My favorite salad dressing is a balsamic vinegar and olive oil vinegarette. It goes well with everything. I tend towards laziness in making dressings, and use the Good Seasonings Italian dressing in the envelopes, but use the balsamic vinegar, and olive oil. My mom used to make a salad with onions and mandarin oranges, which are available without sugar, and she used a red wine vinegar and oil dressing on it.

Good Morning! I just got in from a walk. It rained really hard last night, and we had some humongous thunder and lightning, and it seems to have cooled off a bit. I hope it cooled the pool water! :) I got in 25 minutes maybe... I had hoped for 30 but I had to come back and put one of the kittens up in the house. She was trying to follow me and when she got out in the street, I thought I better discourage her in as strong a way as possible.

On the way out, I stopped and ate a handful of blueberries, and on the way in too. :) And then I ate a handful of raw almonds. I am drinking a Pepsi one. I just don't feel like fixing a cup of espresso this morning. I am supposed to go to class this morning, but I think I will skip it. Especially since I can't seem to get James up anyway.

I finished my knitting project. I guess its a shawl...it is very bulky and will be rather warm inspite of the lacy pattern. I am using the leftover yard to make a potholder now. It will go very well in my kitchen.

I will check in later.. I need to go get things settled about class and stuff...

EEK! I know I popped in to say I was back, but I really had intended on getting back here before now. Catching up has been a b***h. I still don't have much time before I have to rush off to my next meeting.

We had a great time in NYC. We went to the Bronx Zoo, saw Chicago and the Lion King and shopped till we dropped (for me literally, I think I developed a stress fracture i my left foot--I've been hobbling around on a cane since we got back).

I'm posting a link to my pictures on Walmart.com. If it doesn't work, let me know.

I really haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone. I plan to read the last couple of weeks boards sometime this weekend to see what is going on with everyone!

Eating has been ok--but I haven't been able to weigh in for a couple of weeks. Won't get to this week either as I have to be in Montgomery Saturday morning. Will see what the damage (if any) is next week).

Havea great OP day everyone!

Good Morning:

We just finished BF, and I need to jump in the shower, but I thought I'd check in here first.

Today is picture day for my big 3-year old. I bought her some cute skorts yesterday at Target that she will be able to wear to preschool. They are easy to pull up/down for potty time. We will spend a little time at the mall and then head home for the day.

I ate a bowl of legal cereal with blueberries and skim milk this morning, and plan to do good the rest of the day. They have a Wetzel Pretzels at the mall that I promised the girls (Wetzel bits). I may have one or two of those, but will walk those off while there ;) .

Thin: Sounds like an interesting course. Sugar has found its way into everything. In the 1800's, the little bit of sugar they consumed was actually sugar. The sugar these kids/adults are consuming today is the HFCS, which is even worse! It sounds like you are armed with some valuable info. for the school year. When does school start there? We start Aug. 22nd.

Heart: The only salad dressing I use is oil/vinegar based. Even the lite ranches have saturated fats in them, so I try to stay away from them. I think oil/vinegar based is excellent with a fruit/veggie salad. What I also use when I make a Taco type salad is a little bit of lite sour cream, and a lot of salsa, and mix together. It is then creamy like a dressing, but low in fat and calories.

Monet: We too had a huge t-storm last night. The lightning lit up the sky and the thunder was so loud. It rained hard for about 20-30 minutes straight and then moved on. It was beautiful to watch. The temps dropped over 30 degrees in that time. How many nuts are you eating? I always tend to gain or only maintain when I eat nuts....I never seem to lose.

Fillise: Wow, now that is some power shopping. I hope your foot feels better soon. I will check out your link after I get my shower and get the kids settled down.

I hope you all have a great OP day.

Take care,
Nat

After I dropped James off at work, I went on to Garden Ridge. They sent out a sale flyer with 9 foot market umbrellas listed as $19.99, and I have been wanting an umbrella for the old table I have outside.... well, they don't have any, and the lady said they would not be getting any. It was a clearance sale, so I am just out of luck I guess. I made a circuit of the store just because I was there, and it was cool inside, and its big and would help up my step total for the day... I found an expandable cutlery drawer liner, and bought it. I brought that home and put it in the drawer, but now I need to go through the box with junk I had to take out of the drawer to get it to fit!

I made myself a potholder with the yarn that was left from the project I finished yesterday. I had JUST enough to make a nice 6-7 inch square one. The colors go great in my kitchen too! :)

I fixed lunch when I got home... a sole filet sauteed in olive oil with rosemary and garlic, and a small salad with fresh cukes, and cherry tomatoes, with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Now I feel sleepy and I may have to take a nap! Full puppy syndrome, I guess....

PANCHO: I am eating a good bit of nuts, because that is what Rosedale says to snack on, that and high 'good' fat things, like avocados. I probably have three or four good handfuls a day. I can try cutting them out and see what happens...but honestly, I am not sure what I will eat! This is a rather restrictive diet, and the first three weeks are doubly so. I am burning ketones, though, which is exciting. I just hope it shows up on the scale soon.

FILLISE: I checked out the pictures. You got some great ones! What a wonderful aunt you are to do that. Bethany will remember that for all her life! I hope you can get caught up soon and join us more often!

Ok, I am seriously going to go nap...I can't believe how tired I suddenly am! :grouphug:

Hi Ladies,

It is Thursday and only one more day to go. This has been a long week even though I have been really busy. It's already 2:00 and I'm just getting on here.

Today is our 32nd anniversary. No plans for tonight. We have to meet our financial planner after work so we are going out tomorrow night.

DH got his PSA test results and they were fine so that is a big releif.

Susan, I'm going to check out those pics when I get done here. Glad you are back, now find some time and get back on here.

Thunder, it is so much easier when DH gollows this WOE.

Laurie, what was it about the salad that you didn't like? I have a great salad dressing for using fruit. 1 cup oil, 1/3 cup white vinegar (I sue white wine vinegar), 1 t celery seed, 1 t paparika, 1 t salt, 1/2 c splenda. Try it is it great. Oh, another one is made with milk and mayonaise and splenda. It is great over a salad with strawberries. I can look it up if you want it.

Nat, when do you get your test results? You were a bad girl, but I'm sure stress and fear had a lot to do with it. You will be fine.

Thin, wow that is some increase in sugar. Sounds like you learned alot.

Bob, hope you get some rest so you don't have a relapse.

Monet, sounds like you had a good day of eating yesterday. Keep up the good work.

Well, crap! I lost my post! Here's a rundown..

Jack-k Yes, I would like that dressing recipe for the strawberry salad. A strawberry salad with baby spinach, walnuts sounds good. But what else would you pair with it? I'm trying to eat healthier and try new things.

ahhh...I went and peeked at the scale!! Yep, one day legal and I go and peek. I PROMISE that I won't peek again until the 8th. I was curious because I noticed my stomach didn't look as bloated as it did yesterday, so I weighed and was down 4 from yesterday. No more peeking. I know it's fluid, but it has to come off anyway. Here's my menu for the day...

BF- was 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal(with splenda, cinnamon, and a tad of butter), 12 grapes, a cup of 2% milk

Lunch-was an open-faced turkey burger(1 sl bread, lite mayo, mustard, sf ketchup, red onion, lettuce, and 1 sl 2% cheese), cucumber slices, and 1 small green apple. Diet coke with Splenda

Snack- will probably be 2 celery stalks with PB

Supper- baked chicken, green beans, and side salad, or cucumber slices with dressing

I'm making mac n cheese for everyone else, was going to make cauliflower casserole(with bacon and cheese) and I'm out of cheddar, so oh, well. Well, I had other stuff in my previous post, but now I'm pressed for time, so check in later!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

Still tired..can't get caught up, shoulders are absolutely KILLING ME!!!

SUSAN.... GREAT PICTURES!!! I know that Bethany had a great time...why....just look at all the sidewalk shopping she did!
Did y'all see any KATE SPADES???? Do you remember that purse of mine that you liked so well..the one that I got at DILLARDS?? It's made just like a KATE SPADE
Those animals are beautiful...I especially liked the TIGER...how in the world did you get him/her to look at you like that?

NAT..Yes, I find that cooking the roast frozen does make it tender. My Grandmother taught me many many years ago how to tell by smell when what ever you're cooking is done. It's definately a talent, and I'm so glad I know how!

MONET...Got that blanket done yet? I like that kind of dressing also..I buy PAUL NEWMAN..have you tried that one?

LAURIE...Hope you get some rest. I hate to lose sleep..lately, I've been wide awake until 1 and 2 a.m. It's killing me! :tired:

THIN...I can't believe it's already time for school! I have an Elementary School across the street from my house..in fact, my whole street is school...the High School is at the other end of my street, on the corner down from me is the school for the gifted, across from that is the Adult Education School, and to top it off, the YMCA is three doors up from me. Makes a really good neighborhood...quiet at night....We've even got a Church up from the YMCA...Hmmmmmmmm....no wonder my street is so sought after :s:

JACKIE...OH MY GAWD...I hadn't thought about a relapse....I can't go through that again  I'm just starting to feel good again! :crossed:

I heard from DEBBIE. She's leaving for Canada on Saturday. Someone in ELI'S family is getting married. I've got her on a mission. You can buy so much over the counter up there and we have to have perscriptions for. SO.. :s: I want her to get my ZERTEC...I have to pay $30 with my insurance so if she can get it a lot cheaper, I'm game!

Well, I'm off to recline...think I'll put either some heat or ice on my shoulders.

Dinner turned out pretty good! I made a meatloaf in my pressure cooker using a recipe in my new cookbook. I was amazed at how good it was! Tom actually had seconds! ( he is not a meatloaf fan, that is for sure!) I also had broccoli and drank a diet 7up.

I started a small scarf with leftover yarn this afternoon, and I am loving the way it is turning out. Makes me wish I did the blanket with that yarn on larger needles. I did a few rows on the baby blanket I am working on. Its more complicated a pattern, so I don't like working on it as much as other stuff!

I am going to go check a few other forums and then knit for a while.

Good Morning! I can't believe its Friday already! This week has just flown for me! I just got up, and will be trying to rush James up and out as its my day to go do volunteer stuff at the church office. Tom suggested a walk this morning as he was kissing me goodbye, but it looks like its raining. If I have time, I will go to the mall and walk there, or Walmart. You can really wrack up the steps walking the perimeter of Walmart! You just can't stop and look at stuff! People walking fast and with purpose are an odd sight at WalMart! :)

I am not sure what exactly breakfast will be...but probably eggs. I will check in later!

Gosh where is everyone?

It is Friday. Met with our financial planner last night for 2 hours. Still can't retire any earlier.

When we pulled in the drive, DD & SIL were sitting in the swing with the dog. He (the dog) got all excited and tried to jump down and got tripped up and ended up falling right on this side. I was in the car and heard the loud thump. He hurt his leg and I thought something internal for sure. They ran him up to the animal hospital and wouldn't you know our luck, they were closed due to a family emergency. Normally they are open 24 hrs. They came home and he was fine. Running around like a crazy dog. even jumped over the back of the couch (this is a Beagle). So I guess all is fine. Made for an interesting evening.

Dinner was 3 pieces of bacon on lc bread and some popcorn later. I was starving this morning.

We are having a nice dinner tonight so I don't want to eat much today.

Tomorrow I have to get my nails done and head straight to Lexington for he baptism of my great niece. Sunday we have a birthday party for a friend's twins. So it will be a crazy weekend.

Heart, you food for yeasterday looked great. The recipe follows. You could always add some grilled chicken to the salad or Eat it along with your meal.

BOB, only time I can tell my smell if the food is done is when i smells burnt!!!

Monet, hope you can get that walk in somewhere today. I haven't walked all week with my foot, but hope to start back on Monday hard at it.

Good Friday morning:

Where is everyone at??? I hope everyone is doing well and planning for another OP weekend, since MMM is right around the corner.

I weighed 121.5# today, which still amazes me since I haven't worked out in almost 3 weeks. I know my muscle mass has shrunk some. I plan to get back to the gym this week and start going 3-4 days a week again. I did have a light dinner though....large salad with tomatoes, sunflower seeds and tuna. I did eat some of the pretzel bits at the mall yesterday in addition to a few cookie bites.

I am home doing laundry today. We have nothing planned until tumbling later this afternoon. I am going to throw some chicken in the slow cooker so it will be ready when we get home.

The girls did so well with pictures yesterday; they turned out so nice. I know I ordered more than I should have. I can access them online, but wouldn't know how to post on here from there, but would love for you all to see them...I'll see what I can do; maybe e-mail to Monet, just 1 or 2, not all 7 poses  .

Monet: That would have been a great deal on that umbrella. We need a large one too for the BBQ area we just built. I know that snacking on good fats is better than bad fats for heart health, etc...but fat is still fat and will probably not allow you to see the loss you are looking for. Dumb me....I just bought a large container of whole cashews a few days ago....I know that I can't stop at just a small handful, so I've been having the girls eat a lot of them  . I also love those Ms. May's nut clusters at Costco, but try not to get them everytime I go. I hope you are able to get your walking in somewhere today.

Jack: Staying busy helps the workday/week fly by. I was going to tell you to enjoy a few days off and relax, but it sounds as if you have a busy weekend planned; enjoy it! Happy Anniversary!!! That is fantastic. So glad your DH results came back fine. I'm not sure when I get my results back; the cardiologist is out of town until mid August. I am sure they have someone else to review the test before then. Boy, I guess it is a good thing that the vet was closed since your pup turned out to be o.k. You would have had to spend $ to find out he was fine ;) .

Heart: Glad the scale showed a loss for you....now stay off that thing! . Good luck staying OP this weekend. Remember MMM; we plan to see you here!

BOB: I am sure that it is a talent to cook a roast from frozen and know when it is done. My DH always teases me about never having to worry about eating undercooked meat. I always cook it to where there is no doubt. It's not jerky or anything, but definately well done. Glad to hear Deb is alive and well; send her my best! I hope she is able to find your meds at a discounted price. My parents often go to Nogales, MX to get some of their meds.

It just occured to me that I haven't eaten BF yet; I have been so busy with laundry and the girls....that rarely happens. I better go get some grub.

I'll check in later.

Have a great day!

I just got back from the church office. I did not eat eggs for breakfast. I made myself a protein shake with 1 scoop of protein, about 1/3 cup of milk, water, and strawberries. It was pretty good for a change! Oh, and I added 1T of almond oil to it.

Lunch was two thin slices of leftover meatloaf topped with a dab of mayo and some sprouts and eaten like an open face sandwich. Not bad! I had a handful of macadamias too. Oh, and I had a cup of coffee at the church office, and drank a pepsi one with lunch.

PANCHO: Rosedale is a high fat diet. He encourages you to eat more fat, and less carbs and protein. The problem with leptin resistance is that your body tends to burn sugar, and not fat, and for some reason, more fats help 'stoke' the furnace and help the body switch to fat burning. I have heard this before. It explains why Atkins 'Fat Fast' works so well. I have one more week. If by Monday, August 8 I don't see a significant improvement, I will go back to plain old Sugarbusters. I do like the fact that I am not hungry and rarely feel that overwhelming urge to eat inappropriately, but dang, I want to see something on the scale as well!

JACK: Thanks for the recipes... I hope the dog is ok, poor thing! My son's three kittens are very clumsy for cats, and are a cause for constant entertainment around here. One of them will jump up on the desk and just slide.... its a wonder she has not hurt herself!

Ok, its nap time again. I don't know why I am soooo tired, but I am!

Hey everyone,

Sorry haven't posted just been busy with trying to get my house back in order since vacation. And having been lurking....lol  Playing games to. And have had company over so haven't had much spare time.
Hi Monet I to heard from Debbie last week and it sounds like shes one busy lady. I got worried about her so I emailed her and she emailed me back. She said shes been very busy and don't have a lot of time to get online. But shes fine. Hope everyone has a great weekend and take care of yourselves. We have a busy weekend also with everyday filled with things to do. This has been the busiest month and its almost over. Hubby goes back to work next month on the 9th so its been really nice to go and do things together. Please post the meatloaf recipe I'm looking for a new one.

Everyone have a safe and OP weekend! :grouphug: :balloons:

THUNDER: Do you have a pressure cooker? I made the meatloaf in my pressure cooker, and I don't think it will turn out the same if it is not done that way. Mix together: 1/2 lb each gr. beef, pork and veal. ( I used 1 pound of beef and 1 pound of gr. turkey breast) Add: 2 eggs, 1 small onion minced, 3/4 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup good quality tomato sauce. (I used Muir Glen organic) Add salt and pepper to taste, 1 clove of garlic minced, and 2 T olive oil if using lean meats. Spray a steamer basket with cooking spray, and pat the meat loaf into a disc in it. Spread a thin coating of tomato sauce over the top of the meat. Put the basket into the pressure cooker, add two cups of water, and close and seal the lid. Bring to pressure over high heat, and then turn down only enough to maintain pressure. Cook for 10 minutes. Quick release, and check temp of meatloaf. If it is not 155 degrees, reseal, and bring back to pressure for a few more minutes. Let cool five minutes before serving. You can cook potatoes under the steamer basket in the pot. Just peel and cube them, and put them in the bottom with the two cups of water, then set the basket with the meat on the top and seal and cook. If you have to cook the meatloaf longer, take the taters out and put them in a separate pan, as additional cooking will turn them to mush. I used 2 pounds of meat, and it took about 14 minutes to cook.
Thanks for the update on Deb. BOB hears from her pretty regularly too...she is missed! She has been gone for well over a year...we had hoped she would come back when Michael went off to college, then the hurricanes hit her mom's building, and Deb was the one who took care of everything. I guess she just got out of the habit of getting online....

GOOD FRIDAY AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

This is a quick one, but wanted to put my recipe up for MEATLOAF

2lbs ground chuck
2 eggs
1 can stewed sliced tomatoes
2 medium onions (chopped)
1/2 cup yellow mustard (I use PLOCHMAN'S)
salt and pepper to taste
toasted bread crumbs (VIGO)
Tomato sauce (soup can size)

Mix meat, eggs, tomatoes (and the juice) ,onions & mustard well. Pour enough crumbs to absorb the liquid...just enough to hold the meat together.
This will make two large loaves. Half the meat and form into an oval shape.
Put in a 13x9 pan. Pour tomato sauce in a two cup measure and fill the rest with warm water. Pour over the two loaves, put in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 1 - 1 1/2 hrs.

Takes longer than MONET's version, but I have to have color in my meatloaf.
It's all in my head, but when Microwaves became popular in the 60's, my SIL went crazy making EVERYTHING in the microwave...right down to baking cakes...nothing had that COOKED COLOR....

I watched THE UPSIDE OF ANGER the other night...don't miss this one!...
Kevin Costner, Joan Allen, Erika Christensen, Evan Rachel Wood, Keri Russell and Alicia Witt

I've got to fix supper...salmon crokette's and rice....

Later

BOB: The pressure cooker is not as bad about that as the microwave! :) The author of the book I got suggests using a bit of soy sauce rubbed on stuff to give it a browner look if the steamed appearance does not appeal to you! Thanks for the emailed jokes. James LOVED them!

Wow...where the heck is everyone?? Well, as if I'm one to talk...I don't think I've been here much this week, either.

Anyhow...just a quick hello and to tell you that i just sliced up my FIRST TOMATO and made a sandwich out of it on WW bread and light mayo!! :D It was soooo good. Well worth the wait. Nothing...and I mean, NOTHING beats home grown tomatoes...

I bought DD her school supplies today... way more stuff now that she's in Junior High. Over $60!! I put it on layway as we don't need it for over a month, so this way I can make payments on it. She found the exact book bag she's been looking for, so that's what started the shopping spree. :dizzy: I had to buy her a purse, too, to put her pencils and lunch money in. Her first for-real purse :^: ...and no crayons :( My baby girl is growing up... ;)

Okay...off to enjoy the nice weather...high 70's...blue skies...nice breeze...paradise weather, in my book...

Have a nice weekend ladies...Kris

PS Monet: did you finish Harry Potter yet? I was a tiny bit disappointed as it seems more like a prelude to book seven...so now I have to wait two years or so to see what happens... So, now I"m reading Goblet of Fire again to bide my time...and making DD read it chapter for chapter with me.

Hey everyone! It sure is slow, and I am not helping! :o I had a baby shower this morning...and my gift was the blanket I made. I think she liked it. It was nice to see everyone, and I was amazingly good. I ate celery, grape tomatoes, no dip, took the inside asparagus out of two or three little rolls and ate it, drank two little cups of coffee with cream, and passed on the cake and other goodies.

Breakfast was three eggs, sauteed in almond oil, and a cup of espresso. Lunch was the above mentioned veggies at the shower, and two thin slices of meatloaf with homemade mayo and sprouts on top when I got home. I just had a cup of espresso to try and wake up...it is not helping. I went to bed late, and slept poorly. I actually fell asleep on the sofa looking my my new Penzey's Spice catalog. How pathetic is that?

I started a new scarf using fun fur yarn. Its much harder to work with than I thought it would be. I tore it out twice and started over! I hope I can keep going with no major mistakes, as they drive me crazy!

I got my new book in the mail today, the one on Leptin. It looks interesting. Once I read it, I will report...but the one thing I did notice so far is very interesting. This guy says NO snacks! You should have five to six hours between meals and three hours after dinner before you go to bed. I tried to find a list of foods, or menus, but there really isn't any. Once I read it more carefully, I hope I can figure out what will work. What is interesting is that he says hypothyroidism is part of Leptin problems. Right the Leptin problems and the thyroid problems are righted as well.

TECH: I have not started Harry Potter! Tom was reading it, and just finished it last night. I am in no hurry to read, for the exact reason you mentioned! It will be two years before I can read the next one, and it ticks me off waiting! :s: I am dragging my feet on the starting...but I will get around to it soon, I am sure! :)

You caught me. I am lurking...

I've just been having a hard time with the food this week. I want sugar!!!!!

I may be on National TV in September. I was in the croud for a worship recording today. Time/Life is doing a worship compilation CD that will be released in September. I was on the back row of the fake crowd, and the moved me to the front row and zoomed on me several times. It was cool. For each of us that showed up, they donated $50 to our church's CD project. It will be really weird if I make the cut. They're sending each of us 5 free CD,s too !

Trav is working all day today and tomorrow. I'm so tired of being alone with the kids!

Got in a walk with Tom. I had to rip out all the knitting...grrr...its just so freaking hard to work with! And I have six balls of the dang stuff!

I had two cukes, a tomato with mayo on it, and a handful of pistachios. Tom is grilling a salmon steak for himself, and I might eat a few of the Brussel sprouts I cooked for him. I am not very hungry though so I ought not to eat, right?

TALITHA: That would be cool to be on national TV! I thought it was cool when Tom and Laura were in Outdoor magazine...and its not very well known! :) (it was for TreeClimbers International..) Have you ever worked with that eyelash yarn, Fun Fur? Its driving me nuts! Somehow, even trying hard to be careful, I keep picking up extra stitches, and you just can't see the stitches to figure it out, due to the fuzzy stuff on the yarn. I may try smaller needles...with better points!

Good morning everyone...

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been lazy and busy as well. FIL is finally here and I believe he will be here for a week. His air-ticket is flexible so that's why I can't say for sure when he is going home.

I am also trying to get things done or ready for Jr since I have a little over 1 month till delivery. I have done Jess's school shopping do she is ready for school in Aug 15th. Sighh...time flies and I am really going to miss her, not that she will be gone totally...lol. I have been planning and cooking some meals for the freezer as well. Still has a lot to freeze but I am doing whatever I can. I cooked an extra batch in my regular meals so I can freeze the rest. This week, I am going to make lasagna and beef stew while FIL is here and freeze up the extra batches. I feel so much better seeing food in my freezer.

Jess is having a blast with FIL and she really loves being around "men" more than women...lol. I guess that is normal huh? lol. I am doing fine, just getting heavier and next week, I will have my 35 weeks dr's appointment. This week I planned to go down to the basement to get out Jess's baby clothes and wash them clean for Jr. I am also going to make a list of what else I need for Jr, like diapers, bottles etc. Once FIL is gone, I will set up the crib and changing table and get his room ready. Then, pack my hospital bag and as well as Jess's bag so she can go stay with my neighbor when I am in labor. Then, I should be set...lol. I apologize for talking on and on about this "baby" thing, seems that that's all it is in my mind these days....lol.

I miss all of you and will try to check in whenever I can. Monet, I will PM you my NEW email address.

Love,
Julia

Happy Sunday all.... Its pretty quiet here as DH and I are both working on our computers. I do have wash going. I'm already to do Phase one of South Beach for a couple of weeks. I have to get over the sugar cravings I can't seem to get a handle on. It will do me good for sure. I hope I can do two weeks of it. I'll hate to lose my bread and fruit for a couple of weeks. But here goes anyway. I think my head is in the right place. So wish me luck....

Hey everyone! I have been hanging out with Tom since I got up this morning...we had espresso, then breakfast (for me- two omega 3 eggs poached) then a cup of decaf espresso, then he went to read his Bible, and I have been knitting. Yesterday was a friend's birthday and I am making her a scarf with this fun fur stuff. It was driving me nuts last night, but I finally tried to do two strands...one the fur and one a baby weight boucle' white. It is knitting up very nicely, and I am almost done. I want to finish it, and get it wrapped to give to her tonight. Then, if I can swing it, I want to make another one in a different color for my massage therapist, who also had a birthday yesterday. Thankfully, it works up fast! :)

KENG: Thanks for the PM! I will see what Susan and I can work out.

TONI: Just don't desert us for South Beach...it makes me so mad when I think how that guy just took Atkins and Sugarbusters and put them together, and is making millions. And for some reason, the craze has gone on and on...and never got dissed like Atkins did.

Ok, I got to go finish this scarf!
