[COLOR=Indigo][COLOR=Purple]Hi Everyone!!!
My name is Vanessa and I'm 21 years old. When I was only 15 I got pregnant with my son Eddie. He will be 6 in August and starting 1st grade.

I weighed 135 before I got pregnant. I didn't work out yet I was thin but not too thin. Kind of curvy like J-LO, Beyonce or even Serena Williams. I loved my look!! :) I gained 53 lbs. with my pregnancy putting me at 178. My son will be 6 next month and I have only lost 20 lbs. ------ which actually was all my water weight from being pregnant.
It's my fault though.....I have never taken any initiative to work out until this year. :(
I feel so fat sometimes and I feel I shouldn't look this way and have this kind of body for 21. I hate going to stores.....such as Hollister.....to buy cute trendy clothes......and no jeans fit!!!! ( Ladies if you wear a size 11 or more.....don't even go there!!!!) I hate seeing girls my age out in bikinis and cute skirts and I just feel like a hog.
So I took the initiative to work out. I got a Y membership and go there 3 times a week. I work on the eliptical machine for 28 minutes and 1/2 hour lifting weights. Also, 3 days a week , I walk 1 mile and do a 20 minute pilates video. I started drinking 8 full glasses of water a day and try to eat a little healthier. I don't want to stop eating the foods I love.....just cut down.
I'm hoping this will help. I'd like to lose 20 lbs.........and keep it off.

I guess I'm just looking for some e-buddies to share in my triumphs and defeats of losing weight.

ALSO..... DOES ANYONE KNOW SOME GOOD WORK-OUTS TO GET RID OF LOVE HANDLES?????

Hope to hear from ya,
Vanessa

No, you're not the only one. I'm 26 and have an 18 month old. I was the same way you were, thin, never really had to watch what I ate and then I got pregnant and gained 44 pounds and lost 24 pounds during my delivery. I have since gained 7 pounds. Now I'm stuck at 155 and would like to be around 110-115. I feel the same way you do when I go into stores. I usually end up going home crying because nothing fits. I used to be a size 4 and now I'm a 10-12. When I look at myself in the mirror, I don't recognize the person I see. I always think "Fat girl swallowed the thin girl." My Dr. advised me to do the Zone diet, cardio (daily) and strength training a few times a week. I'm fine with the excercise part, once I get started, but I can't get myself to "diet". I plan on starting, I just need to get motivated. I think it's a great idea to have an e-buddie that is in the same boat, or should I say sinking the same boat? Ha ha (LOL). I look forward to chatting with you and everyone else. I'll ask my dad about the love handle work out, he is a body builder so he'll know what to do. Talk to you soon!

Oh my gosh! That sounds just like me........Crying when I come home shopping!!! I usually start shopping with a great attitude and end up so upset....I don't buy anything. And if I do....when I get home....I complain it doesn't fit right.

I definately need to stay motivated. I have my workouts all planned yet if something comes up....I skip it. I need to make that my first priority. My boyfriend always says I look great and don't need to work out but you know guys............!! So because he doesn't feel I need to workout....he doesn't enforce anything. I need someone to say " Vanessa.........get off your lazy butt and go to the gym!"

I hope to have a baby after we get married and if I don't lose the 1st baby's weight....I'll be super big and probably never lose it.

It sucks for me too because I have 4 sisters and 3 of them have my body.....the one I had before my pregnancy. I hate shopping with them and sometimes feel jealous of them.......which is sad cause they are my sisters.

I think stumbling upon this website was good for me. People with the same issues and concerns. Hope to hear from ya soon!!

Ya, I don't go shopping anymore because of that. I haven't started excercising yet, I don't really know what I'm waiting for. I think I'll start my Windsor Pilaties tomorrow when my daughter takes her nap. I plan on buying a traedmill soon so I can start walking. It's to hot here in Arizona now to walk outside.

My boyfriend always tells me he still thinks I'm sexy, but I have put on weight and if it bothers me to do something about it. My dad on the other hand (the body-builder) does tell me to get of my lazy A** and get healthy.

When did you start working out? Have you seen any results yet?

vinny081299
07-24-2005, 02:57 AM
I started working out a few weeks ago.....yet I have lagged on some of it. There have been days things have come up so I haven't gone to the gym, etc.

I use Windsor Pilates too. I haven't seen a lot of results yet because you have to use it 3 x's a week. I always try to do it 3 x's but something comes up or I get lazy. But my son likes it so it helps because he's always like " Mom can we do pilates??" He thinks its fun. I think its ok for him to do because its not strenuous (?) He says he can feel his muscles growing after he does it.:) kids!!!!

The only results I have seen are in my legs and arms. Some definition and less flab! Yet these aren't my problem areas. My belly and love handles are. I think thats the hardest area to lose weight in. I don't want a 6 pack ( it'd be nice though) Just a little definition.

Yeah my boyfriend is totally the same and I think he's telling the truth. But when we go out on our boat or go swimming...I know he would like to see me in a bikini and not shorts and a tanktop!! I think I am bothered by my weight too because my son is not his and he has never dated a girl with a post-child body. Sometimes I feel.....hmmmmm not good enough. ( oh no...here come my insecurities again) He's 23, fit and skinny and loves water sports etc. and I feel so fat so I don't participate as much as I'd like too. Plus he does all these sports with his friends who are young too and never dated girls with kids so I feel like the fatty of the group. They bring all their super fit girlfriends and I'm like OHH Lord. I almost get like a social anxiety attack prior to going out. But my boyfriend is great. He buys me lingerie so I know he likes my body.....but I don't!!!!

So I think I just need to get on track and no matter what comes up just do it. Its better then what I have been doing so I should get something out of it.

Autumn26
07-24-2005, 03:14 AM
Well, all I can say is keep it up. If you are seeing results then it's working! 1 month after I had my daughter I worked out 7 days a week. My dad wrote up a work out plan for me and boy did I see results. I lost 1/2 - 1 inch a week for the first month or so, and then, I don't know what happened, I stopped and gained a couple inches back. I didn't even diet! I'd probably be almost at my goal weight if I'd have stuck with it. Oh well, shoulda, coulda, woulda. I need to pick myself up and brush myself off and I'm going to start tomorrow. I think like you said, this was a great thing to do, joining this group. Who would have thoucht we would have found someone going through similar times?

I can imagine how you must feel aroun your boyfriends friends, being that young. I've got a few years on you, but my boyfriend's brother's girlfriend id 22 and a size zero. I feel very insecure around her. Most of the time I still feel like the thin me, but then I'll bend over, or see myself in the mirror and realize I'm not thin anymore. It's really weird.

Well it's been nice meeting you and I would like to keep in touch. Maybe set up some kind of buddy system. I think it'll be easier to stay motivated if we check in with eachother and "share triumphs and defeats". I hope to talk to you soon. Have a good night :)

Wow!! What was that work-out your dad gave you?? Seems like it was really good. Thats what I want........to not have to change my eating habits.

Staying motivated is so hard especially with kids. So much other stuff to do.

We'll definately have to keep in touch. Let each other know whats working and whats not.

Have a good night!!! Hope to talk to ya soon.

It is so hard to stay motivated with a child. It's and advantage for you because your son is old enough to want to do it with you. That is a great start at a healthy life for him. So many children are over weight because their parents don't teach healthy eating habits or even expose them to excersize. I think it's wonderful that your son is learning to be healthy at such a young age. I have the same plans for my daughter. I want to find some physical activity that she enjoys doing like dance or martial arts, sports - anything she can find a passion for. My alterior motive is to keep her mind off boys and partying. But, that's looking a lot furthe down the road.

I have a home gym so half of it was weight lifting and the other half consisted of lunges, leg-lifts and sit-ups. The last three were to be done every day, as many as I could stand. Let me tell you, the leg-lifts and sit-ups will get rid of thoes love-handles you're talking about. If you work out at the gym let me know and I'll give you the workout. If you don't know how to do walking lunges or leg-lifts let me know and I'll explain to you or you can ask a trainer at the gym.

I started my Windsor today, I can't find my 55 min DVD so I tried the 28 min power sculpting with the big blue band. I feel like I did the 55 min workout. Tomorrow I'm going to do my weight lifting and the day after that I'll start the sit-ups, lunges and leg-lifts and make thoes a daily habit. Also my dad gave me a diet he picked up from the competeing body builder's he works out with. He said if I can stick it out for 2 weeks I should lose 7 pounds and if I can do it for three weeks I'll lose 14 pounds. I'm going to give it my best so I can get a jump star on this 47 pounds I'm trying to lose. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow evening.

I'm beat. I'm going to call it a night. I'll talk to you tomorrow :)

Yes, my son is very active. He always likes to walk with me and he is in soccer
( yes....I'm a soccer mom!!) He knows what excercise is and why mommy does it. ( he says " mom you're not fat.....you just need to lose a little weight!!) He's so smart!! He even knows what calories are and will remind me Mountain Dew has 170 calories and Fresca has 0......you should drink the Fresca) I think he's a little too smart!!

Well a workout would definately help me out. I go to the gym 3x's a week for 1 hour. 1 hour is not long but it's all I can devote myself to a gym. I do an eliptical machine (set on a weight loss mode) for 28 min. and usually end up doing 2 miles while I am on it. Then the rest of the time is devoted to the weight machines. I alternate days....1 day I concentrate on legs, butt, thigh machines and the next arm, shoulder, back machines. Then I come home and do an ab workout ( I got out of a fitness magazine ) for about 15 minutes.
The days I don't go to the gym....I walk 1 mile and do the pilates workout. The only day I take off is Friday. But like I said before....I don't think I have had a full week where I have done everything.
My problem will be when winter comes. Sometimes it's way too cold, snowy or slippery to walk outside. I have thought of investing in a home eliptical or treadmill.....but don't really have the room. I do have a basement though so we thought maybe we could turn that into a workout room. I'd like to get some weights at home too. But we live in a duplex and hope to buy/build a house in the next year or 2......so we don't want to create this room....only to move it.

But this week I am off of work ( Quit my job as a shipping administrator on July 1 and took the month off. Start next monday at a new job as a customer service rep) So I want to get to the gym everyday this week. I think once I start seeing more results.....I'll be more excited about working out and I will make sure I go all the time.

Do you or your dad know any good ab routines? The one I got out of the magazine I don't like. I feel these excercises more in my legs, arms etc.......then I do in my abs.

Maybe we should start daily writing to each other to let one another know what out daily workout schedule will be. That way it's kind of another remider to ourselves? Let me know!!!

Have a good day!!

It sounds like the routien you have will do the trick. Just stay consistant. When you do your weight lifting do 3 sets of 15 repetitions and wait only 30 to 60 seconds in between each set. When it starts to get easy, increase your weight.

I think it's a great idea to check in with eachother daily. Today I lifted weights, full body. Also, I started my dads crazy gym diet. I don't know how long I'll be able to stand it.

Talk to you soon,
Autumn

wow its great to hear from so many kindred spirits I am 21 just had my 2nd and last baby 7 weeks ago and I am at my highest and unhappiest weight ever at 170lbs I am back to my pre-preg weight (I was 192 at delivery) however I do not wish to be at my pre-preg weight I want to be much smaller. I totally relate to the shopping depressions I will go to a store so happy and leave in tears its very hard seeing other girls my age wearing barely there clothing and looking great in it.I have chosen to follow Atkins for the rest of my life. I am already seeing amazing results in the 6 days I have been on it. As for exercise I have to say that so far I have never found a better program for all over toning (no bulk) than "callanetics" its extremely boring but extremely effective and my saddlebags are almost completely gone after only six days, my stomach stays in naturally now and my "love handles" are almost gone! but remember that you have to get your body fat low enough to see your abs I cant see mine yet but my "baby pooch" is flattening and even the inches are falling off.

Congradulations on your new baby! When I had my daughter and tried to diet my milk wouldn't come in all the time so I stopped dieting an started working out. I saw results but got lazy anyway. Also, I think nursing helped me lose quickly. Keep up the good work! Nice to meet you,
Autumn

no no no you're not alone! i was heavy all through high school but boy did i ever want to go to the beach and chill in a bikini like all the thin girls. i tried "eating healthy" but i never really realized how much i was eating, even on a "healthy" diet. i never lost weight until i went on a very strict diet, and it is still a struggle.
to battle my love handles, i do those twisted crunches and side-bends. they work well for me, but there are other ways that work too i'm guessing. good luck with your weight loss.
oh yeah... hollister is ridiculous. i went there just once to browse while visting my mom in texas. those sizes run incredibly small, so really, you must be like, size 8 to fit the biggest size they have i'm guessing. they'll never make it in wichita falls, texas, that's for sure!! from what i saw, the average woman there is a size 14. no one bought anything in that store when i was there.

Nice to meet the both of you!

MomtoNicoleandMatthew: Congratulations on your baby and weight loss.
Cadwell125: Yeah, I don't even shop at Hollister anymore. I use to buy shirts there but I've stopped that.

Autumn and I have just been discussing what's working and not, and what we plan to do.
Daily we'll try to write what our plans for the day are (workout wise) .

Today--Tuesday

28 minutes eliptical machine ( weight loss mode)
32 minutes weight training - arms
15 minute ab routine

Nice talking to everyone!!!!

Hey!! Can I join ur group??

My name is Jenny & Im 20 yrs old... I got into an accident about 5 months ago... put on about 15 pounds and then lost only 4... :( Ive been really lazy!! Not wanting to work out or eat right. Not to mention I have days where I just eat & eat & eat... I dont know why, but whenever I have a problem, eating seems to be my way out... Even though it makes me feel better for like 10 mins.. and then I feel 100x worse because Im such a Fat a$$!!
Prior to the accident, I was trying to lose weight. I was about 148 & I wanted to go down to 125!! I think about it now, and I can remember my senior year of high school.. I was about 140, a size 5.. and I wanted to be thinner!! Sh*t! I wish I was 140 right now!!!!
My younger sis is currently 39 weeks preggy.. due on Thursday. She weighs 135lbs!! Im so jealous!! I wish!!! And its so sad to be jealous of my own sister.. but i cant help it!!
Im currently dating a very wonderful guy named Derrick :) Im hoping that things will get serious soon (bf/gf serious... :) ) It just sucks because sometimes I get really self-conscious around him.. He likes to be affectionate (i love affection!!) and sometimes he likes to grab on my stomach jokingly... i think its cute.. i dont mind.. but it makes me feel so fat!!! I want to lose the weight & then he can grab on it all he wants!! lol.. cause by then, there really wont be much to grab on!!
I can relate to you guys about the whole shopping thing!! I go to the mall all the time & I leave there empty-handed with tears on my face!! :( And then I become depressed & start eating like a fat pig again!! Ughhhh I hate it!! Its so sad!!
I dont know how my older sis does it though.. She's about 180 lbs & so happy of her body.. She flaunts skirts & tank tops... always looking cute... and i dont know how she gets away with it.. cause if I wear a tank or cute skirt my arms & legs look like super huge!! not to mention the rolls on my stomach!! Oh why oh why do i bring myself down like this!??! I should be more confident.. I dont think im ugly.. but im so self conscious about my body!! And i think that being fat makes me ugly!! Even though Derrick doesnt seem to think im fat.. but i always think that guys tell you that you're not fat when you really are, because they are just being nice & they dont want to hurt your feelings... I dont know!!

But it would be really nice to meet new ppl & form some kind of workout group!! :) It would give me the support & motivation that I need!!

Of course you can join our group!!! We are pleased to have you!!

I think it's great because everyone here so far is trying to lose the same amount of weight ( 20-60 lbs.) So I think we will all be on the same page!!

Sorry to hear about your accident!! That's never fun!!

Oh, and don't feel bad about being jealous of your sister.....I have 3 younger sisters who are thin and can wear all the cute, trendy clothes. Believe me.....sometimes I'm extremly jealous!!! They can eat anything and not gain a pound.

Yeah, shopping is an emotional thing for everyone here too. I got a new job and have to buy some new clothes this weekend and I AM NOT looking forward to it. Isn't that horrible??? A woman.....saying she doesn't want to shop!!! What has the world come to???? LOL

Self-Esteem and confidence is a big hurdle for everyone who feels overweight. I know I'm pretty but I'm so insecure and uncomfortable about my weight.
My boyfriend is the same as yours......telling me I look great and sexy....but deep down I think he would like to see me lose a little weight. He's just too nice to say it!!!!

So again.....nice having you here!!!!

Yay! Im really happy that Ive found a group to buddy up with!! :) I need all the support i can get!!

OMG!! I am totally in the same boat!! I just started my job a few months ago & we are about to open up the sales office, so I have to go out & buy alot of new clothes. But thats not going to be for another few weeks or so. Im hoping that I will be able to lose some weight by then!!

Can I join your group too??? I am 21 years old and trying to lose 15 pounds, but it's tough because my friends, family, and boyfriend are always trying to get me to go out and eat at Chinese and Mexican restaurants and drink a lot of alcohol at the bars. I am trying to figure out how to balance a social life with my diet.

I know what you mean about the shopping thing. My mom and sister just recently lost a lot of weight so they always want to go shopping and drag me along. But I always end up in tears as I look in the mirror at the dressing room...

Over the week I am extremely dedicated and motivated, but I cheat on the weekends A LOT. I am just not losing weight and I don't know why so I'm frustrated...

vinny081299
07-26-2005, 12:28 PM
I wish I could lose some weight by the weekend!!! It's gonna suck because I'm gonna spend a few hundred bucks on clothes and in a few months
( hope and pray!) I will have lost my weight.............then I'll have to buy new clothes. But hopefully it will be more fun then!!!

What do you plan on doing to lose weight? Dieting? Working out? If you look above, you can see what everyone else is trying for ideas if you have nothing in mind. I plan on lots of excercise and water. Not really dieting.....just portion control and watching some of what I eat. Also the gym where I go, for $30, you can sit down with a personal trainer for an hour, and discuss what machines etc. will target the problem zones. Mine is definately my stomach. With 1 child.....I have a kangaroo pouch and love handles so that is my biggest goal.

I definately think this group will be of help and support so it's good you came here!!!

I totally cheat on weekends too!!!!!! I'll eat decent all week and then the weekends I go buck wild!! Lots of eating out and snacks. And drinking. That's not good!!!

I dont really have specific days where i cheat... Weekends arent really an issue with me since I choose to stay home, bc i dont want to be seen in the street... or if not I'll just go out with Derrick to the movies or the eat something healthy. He's trying to help me lose the weight :)

Autumn26
07-26-2005, 04:45 PM
Alright you guys, you're making me feel old! I'm the old lady in the group! It sounds like we are all around the same weight and have relatively the same goals.

As far as cheating, you should only have one cheat day, and sorry, but you can't go "buck wild". If there are things you are craving spread it out through the day, don't eat it all at once. Eating 5 small meals a day will speed up your metabolism and help you lose the fat faster. And always remember "Fat makes you fat." Thats what my dad always says.

No matter what your weight is, if you are confident with who you are and what your size is, then you will look cute in anything you wear. And about being self concious infront of your boyfriends - STOP IT! That will turn them of faster than a light switch. The were attracted to YOU when they met you.

No more name calling. That will do no good for your goals, motivation or self esteem. I am a comfort binge eater also. When you binge, accept that you're binging, accept how you feel and don't be judge yourself. Make a diary of what happened to make you feel the need for comfort food. Go over it at the end of the week, and don't be so hard on your self.

I'll get back to you all with my goal for the day and some other Ideas I have - my daughter just woke up from her nap.

Nice to meet all u newbies!

I didnt get to nurse unfortunately I had a spinal headache from post epidural puncture and couldnt function for almost 5 days my mom had to take care of me my daughter and my ds so she bottle fed him I didnt even get to see him but like 5minutes after he was born then the headache started and the morphine shots kept me knocked out I had a blood patch done while I was in the hospital and it worked for about an hour then the headache came back and I decided to give it a few days b/c that patch was very painful and I didnt want to go through it again but after three days of being home and in bed the entire time except to go to the bathroom I decided to get another patch done by a different doctor and THANK GOD he knew what he was doing and 6 hours later I was as good as new!
If you are like me you probably have no idea what any of this is like I did...epidural headache is where the hole in your spine causes brain fluid to leak and your brain sags because of it...blood patch is where they draw blood from your arm then immediately inject it into your spine to cause a "patch" that will over time plug the leakage.....spinal headaches are very uncommon 1 of 200 patients will get them..myself and another girl had to get blood patches at the same time because of the same anestesiologist obviously didnt know what he was doing! That is why I didnt get to nurse I really regret that, although it wasnt my fault after what I went through I would def. do naturally childbirth if I ever have another child!

Hi Autumn!!
You are not old!!!!!!! So if we're all going to stop calling ourselves names...........you're not gonna say your old!!!!! :)

Autumn is right everyone! We need to start thinking more positivly of ourselves. Us here on this forum so far are losing at most 65lbs. Think of those trying to lose 100? Or 200? And We think we have weight insecurities?

From now on, Autumns right, we need to think the best of ourselves. How are the others in our life going to????

See Autumn, you're not old.................but you are wiser!!! :)

Hi Mom2nicoleandmatthew!!

Wow! That seems horrible!! I had the epidural and beforehand I heard horror stories but none as bad as yours!! Well I'm happy everything went well and you are alright now.

I didn't breastfeed either. My reason was inexperience and social issues. I was only 15 when I got pregnant. I knew breat feeding was better but I didn't realize how much better it truely was. Plus, I got looks all the time. I had old woman walk by me and under their breath say things like " it's a shame" or " babies having babies". Having to breastfeed in public would attract more attention to me. I know, I know....that's a stupid reason and
I realize it now.

My next child I am for sure breastfeeding.

Autumn26
07-27-2005, 01:18 AM
Thanks Vanessa for calling me out on the old "name calling". I didn't even realize I was doing it. My mom experienced the same thing with breast feeding with my brother. My mom was 15 when she got pregnant and 16 when she delivered. Kind of funny because my grandma was pregnant with my uncle at the same time. They're only a couple months apart. My grandmother never breast fed so my mom did what her mom did, but when she had my other brother and then me she was older and yes, yes "wiser" she nursed us.

Mom, it sounds like you had a horrible experience, but you did the best you could do for your son so you shouldn't feel bad. Hes healthy and happy right? I study Criminal Justice in school, that's my major, so I'm an extreemest. I read about everything possible that could and has happened during labor and delivery and decided I wanted to go natural. It hurt like heck, but I wouldn't do it any differently.

Ok, here is my goal for the day (I'm going to go accomplish it right now):
Lunges
Leg-lifts
Situps
Powersculpting Pilates

Autumn26
07-27-2005, 02:09 AM
I just finnished my workout and I want to scream! I don't like leg-lifts, lunges or situps. I can only do 9 SU, 10 L and 35 LL. It's kind of like food, the stuff that tastes the worst is the best for you.

Today I weighed my self, took my measurements and ppictures of me in my swimsuit. I'm going to do this every month and I want to invite you all to join me so we can track our progress together. Next month when I get my second set of pictures I will start a folder in the pictures section of this forum. I need ideas of what to name it. A name that will be easy for all of us to remember.

I' ll do it Autumn! I had actually thought of doing that as well. But where on each part of the body do you do measurements? Like at what part of you thigh do you measure? Or waist? I have a polaroid and already have a few pics. I put mine up on my bathroom mirror so everyday I can see then and say "Oh, gotta tone that area" or " Oh, better start working on those arms"!! It really helps!!! But don't forget to bring them down when guests come!!! ( yes.........I forgot once!! I think I looked like a tomato I was so red)

I'll also measure myself when I get home from work today & most likely post it up tomorrow!! Im super scared though!! I have to admit.. as far as taking pictures.. I dont know about that!! :o ehhh! Maybe next month when im at least 10 pounds lighter.. lol :( Autumn said that we should stop with the name calling... so im going to shut my mouth & not say another word!!
Todays plan: 5 small meals, 3 hours apart... 30 mins treadmill/30 mins elliptical... some squats, lunges & leglifts.. and dont forget the abs!! Today is going to be a tough day for me! But I gotta get to it!! :)

Hope all ur days are going great!! Bye!!

Hi Everyone!!

I totally love the group we have here!! Hopefully we will all be a great support for everyone!!

One thing I have noticed is no one is attempting to drink water. If you are not a 8 glasses a day girl ( like me :) ) that will help with weight loss too.
I bought a 64 ounce jug and fill it everynight before bed. In the morning I have my cup o' joe and the I CAN NOT have anything else until the water is gone. I do admit I feel more energetic!! And by the time I finish it all.....it's dinner time so I have a glass of milk and bedtime tea and that's it. I have totally cut out soda!!

Just a suggestion girls..........

I was just thinking about that... i have a liter of water here at work.. And i was trying to figure out how many cups are in a liter.. so that i will know how many of these bottles to drink.. I think its like 2 Liters to equal a little more than 8 cups. Im not sure... I could be wrong :o Water is really good for weight loss!! I used to drink cups & cups of water each day.. and i used to have to go to the restroom every 20-30 mins.. but now we are remodeling the bathrooms in the office.. so I have to walk across the street to use the restroom or go next door to the hotel. And I cant leave the office unoccupied like 16 times a day!! I would get in trouble.. so i try not to drink as much water during the day as I regular would before. At least until we get the bathrooms working again!!

vinny081299
07-27-2005, 12:32 PM
I'm not sure how many liters there are. I just know it is 8 , 8 oz. glasses a day ( 64 ounces). A lot of stores....WALMART, etc.....sell jugs just for the purpose of drinking 8 glasses a day.

Yeah....your bathroom situation kinda sucks.

Autumn26
07-27-2005, 02:07 PM
Good morning girls :)
Vanessa: I measure the largest area of my upper thy and the largest part of my upper arm (the bye, bye arm area). Thats the area of the arm that waves bye, bye with you! LOL.

All I drink is water. 2 32 oz liters of water is 64 oz (8 glasses). Out here in the desert they tell us to drink a gallon a day! Talk about water retention!

Goal for the day:
3 sets 15 each-
Pully push downs - arms, stomach
Incline press - chest
Barbell raise - sholders
Back Biceps - Back sige of leg and glutes
Lat pull downs - upper back
Reverse curls - biceps and top of lower arm
Lunges
Situps
Leg lifts

I'm going ot the store tomorrow to get a measure thing ( i don't what they are called )

Oh, I went to the gym today and worked on the eliptical machine for 30 minutes. I didn't do any weight lifting because I went to a differnt gym then I normally do and there were way to many people in there. So I came home and did pilates instead.

Oh.....I lost a pound too!! WOO HOO!! Not much but it's a start!!

Autumn26

I'm sorry, I'm ******ed, I don't know what callanetics or kutg means??? Congradulations on your weight and inch loss!!!! You too Van! I lost a pound myself! In only to days! I'm proud of myself sticking to this detox diet. Today, I thought I was going to pass out. I didn't plan on being at school for so long and I forgot to bring food with me. Between that and the HEEEEAT!!!, I got a little faint. I'm better now and finnished my goal for the day.

Keep up the good work ladies!

Daisy, don't feel pressured to post any measurements or pics, It's no biggie - just a suggestion.

Have a great night everyone :)

Welcome Farukh :) If you want to be health y 4 life, you are doing the right thing by changing your eating habbits. "Eat to live", not "Live to eat". If you have already lodt 4 pounds Great! Keep with it! If you find arobics is to much take a brisk walk up to 5 miles a day or a minimum of 30 minuted a day. Give yourself one day a week that you can have a food that you're craving. Don't make it a binge day though. It's hard I know, I binge eat for comfort. I have been on a body cleansing diet for 3 days now and have already lost 1 pound and feel great and in control of my life. I look forward to chatting with you :) Have a great day.

Hey Autumn!!

Hey Everyone!!

OK, so I need some help everyone!!

I'm on this new calorie kick. I went to this website where you put in your age, current weight, height, and how much excercise a day you do, and it calculates how many calories you need to stay at your current weight. It says by cutting out only 750 calories a day....you can drop 1-2 lbs. a week. To keep my current weight I need 2405 calories a day. But by eating only 1655 calories, I can lose more weight. I thought 750 calories was a lot but I researched more and came up with this.

At my old office, we ate out ALOT!!!
A BIG mac meal with a diet coke is 799 calories!!! But if I would have opted for a Bacon Ranch Salad for only 260 calories ( this includes a diet coke)......I would save 539 calories right there. Plus on top of that.....every morning I had a Grande Java Chip from Starbucks with whipped cream. This alone came to 510 calories. But if I chose just an iced coffee for 80 calories.....I'd save 430 calories. I would have saved a total of 969 calories a day by just making better choices!!!!! And I'd still be able to enjoy fast food and my starbucks!!

I just want to see what everyone thinks. For years we've heard people say "LESS CALORIES" but does it really work. And Autumn...............with your dads background.............is this a healthy way to diet???

Let me know everyone!!!! It sure is something to think about!!!!

Oh and that website to do the calorie calculator is:

Everyone have a good day!!!!!!! :)

id love to caht with you too autumn !
i dont plan to weigh my slef time n again...coz i read on oprah's site that women shud weight themselves only twice a month i.e, in the mid cycle and then after 15 days. also, wen oprah initially went on a diet she didnt weigh herself for 2 months...thats how long she belives the water weight takes to stabilize.
so imrpessed as i am with oprah ;) .... i'll weight my self tom morning n then again after a month.
yeah n i'm also thinking of taking one day off a week from the diet...n that wud be friday coz me n my friends usually go out on fridays
take care every one

Hey Farukh!!

Yes, Aerobics will literally kick your butt!1 I'm thinking of starting a full-body boxing class. I'll learn self-defense ( don't mess with me :) ha ha j/k) and be losing weight too.

I think your right about the weighing thing. We should have like a monthly weigh in with all of us here. That way the loss will be more accurate.

I don't really know alot about Pakistan. How are weight issues portrayed there? Here, every magazine has tiny, skinny almost anorexic models, blonde hair and blue eyes. It makes it hard for all of us "normal" girls to compare!!! But we're starting to see more voluptuous woman in the entertainment industry which is great!! Serena Williams, J-Lo and Beyonce. I think Serena Williams has a great body. She's thicker but toned. I think all models should be no less then a size 8. It puts a false sense of image in everyones minds. One of my sisters said to me one day " Pamela Anderson has 2 kids and looks awesome. So it can't be that hard" I said WHAT??? She has all the time in the world for workouts and lots of stars with kids have had plastic surgery. Ever notice.......Pamela Anderson, Kelly Ripa, Denise Richards..............NONE of them have a stretch mark on their body!! Yes, some woman just don't get them but lots do. They have the $$$ to have laser surgery.

It's probably pretty much the same here as their........just a different enviroment. It'd be cool to learn all about it though!!! :smug: [COLOR=DarkSlateBlue]

Mom - thanks for the info on the kutgw. I'm going to look at the website after I post this reply.

Van - Counting calories is the oldest and most effective way to loose weight. The diet my father has me on consists of a spinach, chickpea, corn and fruit salad with a couple bites of fruit. I eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. This puts me at such a low calorie intak, it's not even worth counting. This is the whole purpose of the diet. To rid almost all calories. The out come is rappid weightloss. When the body doesn't have calories to burn it turnd to fat. I garentee you will lose weight counting your calories.

Today I did -
Lunges
Crunches
Leglifts

Good night girsl!

Hi everyone I havent been getting much computer time (cable goes out during storms) but I am still on track and faithful to my program!
Autumn~ I have quick callanetics for stomach,hips/behind,and legs, I also have 10 years 10hours its the original one and the one you will see the quickest results with. If you order it you will see amazing transformation pictures on the video. its very low impact the instructor even says it is "no impact" but its very effective.... its an extremely slow and boring workout, its worth it in my opinion though.

Farukh~ true no milk is allowed although after induction phase (the first and strictest phase)there is a low carb milk called carb countdown...the way I look at it is once I am past induction there is a lowcarb version for everything so I will never be deprived, its only temporary and very worth it to me.

Vinny~ i look at it this way almost every celeb who has had a child has done so by c-section you cant avoid that big scar from that major surgery so if you ever see a celeb in a magazine that doesnt have that scar you know they have been airbrushed so rest at ease that even they are not perfect...hollywood is all about illusions and I hate it personally it makes us feel inadequate and falsely makes men swoon over them thinking they are some perfect people when they arent!!

Hey ya'll!!
I was camping all weekend...that's why I haven't been on.
So I went and bought the measuring tape but don't understand hips and waist. Is waist including love handles and hips including butt?? HELP!! As soon as someone can help me.....I'll post my measurements.

Also, AUTUMN....I have a question for you. I started this Saturday doing my 1655 calories a day thing. But today I only ate 1200 some. Can I "bank" those 400 some and use on my "craving" day?? Let me know when you have the time!!

Nice talking to everyone!!!

Oh....My calorie consumtion was

2 coffees- 180
Yogurt- 80
Lean Cuisine meal- 260
Pickles- 10
Pasta meal- 550
French Bread- 200

I went for a 1/2 hour bike ride with Eddie ( my son )

Autumn26
08-02-2005, 03:16 PM
Hey Van-

How was camping? I hate it! I'm such a baby. The only time I ever went, I cried the whole time!

To measure your waist, start at the smallest part, just under your ribs. That is your waist. Your hips are just above your bute'ox. Hip to hip, all the way around.

If you only ate 1200 calories, goo for you! You'll just burn fat faster that way. Unfortunately, no, you can't bank them. Caloric intake in a day to day basis.

I think you'll like your measurements better that what the scale tells you. Being a woman, you only have about 2 weeks out of the month that you're not retaining water, so the scale may tell you 151 one day and the next day you start a cycle and you've gained 5 pounds of water. Yes this happened to me today! But, I have lost a total of 3 1/2 inches.

Talk to you soon!

vinny081299
08-02-2005, 07:37 PM
OK I will get some measurements later

Oh.....and we have a 40 ft. camper w/ air and all the goodies ( toilet, shower, t.v.) so camping.........isn't really camping!!!

Autumn26
08-02-2005, 10:29 PM
Oh, now see I would totally do that, but my boyfriend sais that's not camping. He likes to go off the beaten path. Someday I'll convince him to get a camper like that. We have looked at them, but they cost about as much as our house (that's being built) costs! You're lucky!

vinny081299
08-02-2005, 11:34 PM
It really wasnt that bad of a deal. The camper is only a 99 and has all hardwood floors and an oak entertainment center, washer and dryer. It was only 19,000.But it's also a "family" camper. Between me and Adam, my parents and my sister, we all make the payments together. We have a permanent site on about 800 acres of land that costs $600 a year. This includes water and elec. There are only like 20 people who camp on this land so.......it's real remote!! There's private lakes etc. Lots of wild life ( deer, bear, coyotes and wolves).....We just love it!!!If your a city girl like me......A camper like ours is the way to go. All it's missing is a dishwasher. But we can arrange that!!!!

farukh
08-03-2005, 12:24 PM
hi every one!
wow...camping...that sounds like fun...!!! ahhhh we hardly ever go out any where (lol) :(. out of 4 , 2 of my siblings r in london(uk), 3rd = married...and me = at home with parents ( i know how boring! but that is how it is here, we esecially girls are not allowed to live indepently on our own)
i know mom is on atkins but wat kinda diet r u following vinny n autumn?
im basically on a low cal diet where i try to have more of lean protein n veggies but im trying to control my portion size.
i too want to take my measurements but i'm kinda scared.... hehehehe
hope every one is ok!

vinny081299
08-03-2005, 08:22 PM
Hey Farukh!!
The diet I do is 1655 calories a day. I eat whatever I want..........but have to stay at or less then 1655. I have been doing good and have been only consuming 1300 or less a day. Today I had:

Coffee w/ cream - 100 cal.
Yogurt- 80 cal.
Low-Cal meal ( Chicken w/Floretine sauce) - 270 cal.
Large Classen Pickle- 5 cal.
3 jolly ranchers- 70 cal.
1 tootsie roll- 24 cal.
Chinese dinner- 610 cal.

The low cal meals I buy are by Michelana's (sp?). They are low-carb and low cal and also work with weight watchers. They are $.94 @ Wal-Mart. I don't know if you guys have Wal-Mart there in Pakistan????? But anyways, they have lots of varieties and it's like $5 for a weeks worth of lunch. They are really good and I feel full after eating one.

I workout at the gym 3 nights a week for 1 hour. 28 minutes on an eliptical machine and 32 minutes of weight traing alternating arms and legs. The other days I walk, run, bike for 30 minutes and do a pilates routine.

I haven't done my measurements yet but I"ll get those in soon.

GIRLS- HOW BOUT WE CHOOSE A DATE, ONCE A MONTH, TO SUBMIT OUR WEIGHT AND MEASUREMENTS?? LIKE THE 15TH?? WE CAN HAVE THAT BE OUT OFFICIAL WEIGH IN DAY. LET ME KNOW!!!!!!

farukh
08-04-2005, 01:17 AM
gr8 idea...im in! ill check my weight and do my measurements on the 15th !!!
n no we dont have walmart here n its extremly difficuilt to find any low cal stuff here...all we get is skimmed milk n artificial sweetner(THANK GOD we have that atleast) so i cook my own low cal meals ;).

Van-
That is an awsome deal on your 40'. New, thoes go for about $200,000.000 here. Where do you live again?

Farkuh-
Sometimes I wish I could move back home with my mom & dad. It is funny how women are percieved. With all the strenght we are given, the gift of bringing other humans into the world, we are treated like helpless little kittens. It kinda makes me want to barf. I was watching a movie mith my boyfriend the other night, about 7 women who were trapped on this island with giant spiders eating everyone. All they did was "cat fight" half naked and dripping wet (from frolicking naked in the ocean), and worry about their lipstick! Whatever.

As far as a diet goes, I watch my caloric intake and work out 6 days a week. I rotate days with floor work with weight lifting. I need to get in some cardio, that's the most important. I'm purchasing a treadmil in the next couple of weeks. That will be daily. The key to working out is to mix it up so your body doesn't get used to the same rutien and become conditioned. Once you achieve your ideal body weight, then you can condition. Try and do something different every day, this will also keep you from becoming board with your workouts.

Autumn-- I live in good ol' Wisconsin.
Things area ALOT cheaper here!!
Even gas. My boyfriend is in CA right now and he said gas is so much more expensive out there then here.

I starteda new job and one of the girls there was a fitness and yoga instructer ofr like 15 yrs. JACKPOT!!!!
She was saying that a BOWFLEX is the best machine to purchase because it rules out every other machine meaning you need no weight, treadmill etc. Does anyone kow how much they are??

Hey everyone. Well, I have been struggling w/ weight loss for a while now. To tell you a little about me and my fight for a bikini-body (hehe), I am 13 years old. (Going into 8th grade) I know a lot of people on this website are older than me, but I am just so sick of trying to lose weight. I currently weigh 163-170, depending on what time I weigh. I want to get to 140 (at least!!). I feel weird going shopping with my friends who are TINY and can fit in kids' sizes still! I am proud however that over this summer I went down two sizes, from a 17 to a 13. Yay! Haha. I want to lose a lot of weight this year, but I need motivation. I mean, you think it won't hurt to eat those chocolate chip cookies, or eat a couple of Oreos, but in the long run it does... It is really hard to remember that sometimes. Well, I just wanted to tell you a little about myself. I will probably not have a LOT of time to work out this school year, so I want a diet that will help me lose a lot of weight without having to exercise all the time. I mean, I exercise in P.E. every day- usually we run a mile on the track two days a week and play sports like soccer, basketball, tennis, badmitton, volleyball, and football. So anyways....let me know what ya think! Thankies!
Laura

Hello Laura-
Of course you can join. Just promise me one thing, keep your focus on your health, not on how you look. I had an eating disorder when I was thirteen, I became verry ill and almost hospitalized. If you can't go to the gym 6 days a week and combine 30 minutes of cardio with some lite to moderate strenght training, then you need to count calories. You can go to this website to find out how many calories you need to cut from your diet: http://www.inch-aweigh.com/dcn.php. Also, you might want to replace meat with soy and bread and pasta with veggies and fruit. (more veggies than fruit) Keep running in P.E. it's great for your heart!

Glad to have you!

Thanks... Don't worry about me getting an eating disorder! I can't stand the doctor-- I wouldn't do anything to make myself go to one! Haha. Ummm I began SERIOUSLY counting calories this morning. I even measured out a tablespoon of grape jelly to put on my toast.... and switched from drinking milk EVERY morning to drinking water. (Seriously, drinking water at breakfast is a first for me!) Imagine the looks my parents gave me when they saw I was measuring out 8 oz. of water and a tablespoon of jelly. I have to go somewhere in a little while, and my mom ACTUALLY got mad at me for not "keeping it simple"! Haha. My total calorie intake for breakfast:
2 Slices of Toast- 110
Jelly- 100
Water- 0!!! (lOl)
Total= 210
I weighed myself b4 breakfast, and it came to 163. I used to be 168.5 (at the beginning of the summer when I went to the doctor). Yay! So anyways, thanks for letting me join! I look forward to talking to you soon.

Total calorie intake today: 1468... Oh and I exercised too! I did a workout I found in a magazine called The Kickboxing Routine. It is working pretty well so far.. It really gets my blood runnin'! lOl! TTYL!

Hey Ae Chick!! Welcome!!
I'm doing the calorie thing too. I can only take in 1655 a day and have been doing great. I cut out soda ( maybe 1 a week) and cut out sweets too. Yesterday I had a candy bar and I think I got a buzz off of it because I've not had sweets in awhile!!!

This website will tell you calories in foods that may not have a label, fast foods etc. love it and use it daily.

http://www.calorie-count.com

Good Luck!!

Oh Ladies I wanted to tell ya!! I bought a BOWFLEX today. It'll be here in 4 weeks so I'll have to let ya know how it works!! It better work well....................it was $1400!!!!!!!!!!!!

ae_chick92
08-07-2005, 09:12 AM
Thanks for the website! Just yesterday I ate a banana and had no idea how many calories were in it! Thankfully my mom has a nutrition book that has like every food in it, how many grams of suger it has, how many calories, and just about everything else you'd want to know! Bowflex...wow those commercials get annoying. lOl. Yeah, I'm curious if that really works! Yesterday I was only able to drink 30 ounces of water... I was trying to drink the last 34 ounces late last night, but my dad wouldn't let me because I would have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom... Haha. Well, tata for now.
*Laura*

{edit} I just tried that website Autumn suggested for how many calories to intake a day.. it said 1568. That's good, cuz I ate 1468 yesterday. I was hoping I wasn't over my limit. I think I'll drop it to 1500 though. It would be easier for me to remember. :) ;)

Laura-
Good job on the weight loss! Are your parents supportive? I'm sure the running is a major help. It would be easy to put on weight during the summer when you are not excercising. I thought I lost 4 pounds, but it turned out to be about 1 pound of fat and 3 pounds of water, but I think I'm in one of my monthly water retaining cycles so the could be the extra water also. But I have lost a total of 3 1/2 inches! It's a good idea to take your measurments monthly to, because of the water retention issue. Now that your drinking more water, your scale may go up a little, but your not gaining weight!

Van-
Good luck with the bowflex, it better work for that price! I'm sure it does if that Yoga instructor suggested it. I'm going to purchase a tread mill in the next couple of weeks, I'm just not sure how much I want to put into it. I have a membership to the gym right now, but I may not be able to go as often when I start school.

Talk to y'all later!

Yes, they're supportive. I started a new exercise routine. I am doing a Kickboxing Routine I found in a magazine + 20 pushups, 50 situps, & 50 jumping jacks. Hopefully this will help. I'll take my measurements today and check again in a little while. Good idea!

You will lose verry fast if you do all this plus run in PE. You are burning so many calories and your age helps to. When you get older your metabolism slows dow. But you probably already know that, your parents sound like they are health concious! Keep up the good work and give your muscles 1 day to rest.

Talk to you soon!

Autumn26
08-08-2005, 06:03 PM
It is not physically possible to lose more that 1-2 pounds of actual fat per week. It seem slow, but the slower the better. You will keep it off. What's going on for Christmas?

Nothing really, I just think it would be awesome to be really skinny for the New Year, kinda to turn over a new leaf.

Thigh: 23 and a half inches
Chest: 40 inches
Upper Arm: 12 and a half inches

Hello everyone, I have a few years on you guys and believe me it doesn't get any easier. When I was your age I could drop 10 lbs. no problem now, forget about it. If I even look at food I gain. LOL

I know what to eat but exercise is my problem. I joined a gym and would love to try Autumn's dad's workout routine. I carry most of my weight around the middle and up. How many lunges and how many reps? I would also like to post my goals the night before so that I wake up fresh and ready to go. Any takers?

ae_chick92
08-09-2005, 12:13 PM
aerodawn, Welcome! I carry most of my weight on my waist, too. That would be a good idea to post your goals the night b4.

To everyone else: Yesterday I only ate 950 calories, and I didn't realize it until around 11 at night when I was adding up my calories for the day. I was surprised at how little I ate.... Whoops!
Oh and good news!!!!! I woke up this morning and stepped on the scale, and I have lost 2 more pounds!! YAY! I am so proud of myself! Now I am really determined to keep to my diet/exercise. So I currently weigh at 161!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Hey AEChick!!
Its great you are watching your calories but don't let them drop TOO low. You want to lose weight in a healthy way and cutting out too many calories isnt good. If your not hungry and still have a few hundred calories for the day, try to make the meals you do eat higher in calorie content. Like yesterday I ate breakfat, lunch and had a snack and still was left with 900 calories for dinner. So I ate Chicken Alfredo ( which is high in calories) but I didn't go over my 1655. I would say to try to at least consume 1100 at the least. I think Autumn is eating like 1200 which is ok. It just worries me when it drops below 1000. Just want to help you out and make sure you stay healthy!!!!

Everyone: I am sooooooo sick right now. Terrible sore throat and just lethargic. I am going to try and quit smoking ( My throat is so sore I can't even talk.....much less smoke). Now is the best time to do it. Wish me luck!!!!

08-10-2005, 12:31 AM
Vanessa, yes please don't smoke! OK I don't want to sound rude but did you know that every cigarette you smoke takes off 11 minutes from your life?? You really need to get rid of this habit! I will pray for you!!!! Please stop smoking!!!! Your life depends on it! (literally!!!!) Smoking also causes lung cancer!!! OK sorry if I'm being rude....

vinny081299
08-10-2005, 01:36 PM
You're not being rude. You are totally right. My boyfriends dad passed away last August from Lung Cancer. We should have quit then. It is really hard though. But I figure it's best to do it now when I'm sick and can't really do it and when I am trying to lose weight.

Thanks for not getting mad at me. :) I'm so sorry about your bf's dad! :( Thanks again for taking my comments so well...
Oh and while I'm posting, I lost yet another pound today. So I'm down to 160. :)

Autumn26
08-10-2005, 09:48 PM
Great work everyone! Yes, please stop smoking. I smoked for 11 years and quit cold turkey! I was smoking about 2 packs a day.

Welcome Aerodawn :) nice to have you. I can talk to my dad if you want him to personalize an upper body routien for you. I'll have to ask how old you are though. I know as well as you do, the olser you get, the harder it is to lose! I'm 26 by the way.

You can start out doing as many lunges as you can. Start out at one end of the house and lunge to the other. Do it 3 times a day. Same thing with sit ups, do these in the morning - 3 sets of as many as you can and leg lifts at night. Lay on your back with your hands under your butox and lift your legs all the way up to a 90 degree angle, and then all the way down. Do as many as you can. The most important thing to remember is to breath through your excercises, don't rush through them.

Talk to y'all later!

Hope you feel better Van!

hi everyone! :(
hope u guys r doin well...welcome to the new members :)
guess wat :(:( :(
i ahve been controlling my diet ----- i h'vnt cheated at all. i hve been doing my aerobics regualry...my clothes have started to go loose.....n on the weighing scale I HAVE GAINED WEIGHT  :( :p :( :( :(

Autumn26
08-11-2005, 02:12 PM
That is totally normal! You R gaining muscle from working out, not fat! That is why it is good to take your measurements and go by the way your clothes fit. Never trust the scale. You are doing awsome! I have lost 3 inches but only 1 or 2 pounds, and that changes daily. My clothes are fitting looser also so I know I'm losing. Don't be sad, you will continue to lose as long as you stick with it! That is why I suggested taking before and after pics. Just trust the way your clothes fit and keep up the good work!

I hate it to! I love you Pi$$ed off pig! He's perfect! I got on the scale this morning, just because I'm masochistic, and the two pounds I lost yeaterday found me this morning! But my clothes are my best friend, along with my tape measurer.

vinny081299
08-12-2005, 01:18 PM
Hey Girls!!
Well I agree...........the scale sucks.
I have been thinking about it lately and I don't think I care so much about how much I weigh.....I just want to look good, be toned and fit and feel good in my clothes. I know many women who have beautiful bodies and wear size 11 jeans. Don't worry about the numbers......it's how you feel. When I am able to go out in a bikini and feel comfortable........I know I'm there!!!! I think I have gained some muscle too in my arms because shirts are tighter in the upper arm area. I don't want to acheive big muscles......just toned arms. I'm so excited for the bowflex to come. It'll save me so much time by not having to go to the gym anymore.
Autumn......did you get your treadmill yet?? I was gonna tell ya....do you guys have "PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS" there in AZ?? They sell good, used equipment. I went and looked and was going to buy an eliptical from them but then decided on the bowflex. Otherwise Walmart has cheaper equipment and I think Scheels does too.

ae_chick92
08-12-2005, 08:20 PM
I have been wanting to buy a treadmill, but I don't make much money, and my parents say they can't afford to buy one at the moment. I could save up to buy a cheap one, but my parents won't let me because they think it won't work efficiently. So maybe that is what I should save up for.... a reasonably priced, yet not too cheap, treadmill... Anyways...
I am so frustrated! We bought a new scale yesterday, and it is about 10 pounds different from my other one!!! The one that we had said I weighed 160 last time I weighed myself, and the new one said 169.5!!!!!! So I have no idea which scale to believe! And if I really am 169.5, then I will be incredibly discouraged. Help! How can I tell which scale is correct???

hi everyone!
laura ---- i think most of the scales give different weights. make sure u keep the weight scale on an uncarpetted floor coz the scale usually adds 10 or more pounds wen measured on a carpetted floor!!!
don't worry abt wat the scale says .... i read some where that it takes 2 months for water weight to stabilize wen on a diet. just weigh ur slef once a week or once in 15 days. we all r thinking of weighing are self on the 15th of each month (right gals ;) )
vinny is right .... how we feel abt our selves matters the most...we r eating healthy food, we r working out...we r cahnging r habit of over eating n stuffing our selves, the results will show soon :)
by the way i have locked my scale in the store room n given the key to my mom (hehehhe) ... i know i sound crazy but i dont want some MACHINE to amke em feel like a looser..wen i actually am working hard!
take care every one

08-13-2005, 01:28 PM
Yeah, this morning I weighed myself (my weighing day is Saturday) and it said 166.5... which means I have gained 6.5 pounds!!!!! But like you said, it might be from all that water and everything. Hopefully... Count me in for weighing on the 15th. Haha about locking your scale up. I should probably do that, because of my urge to step on the scale EVERY morning AND night...haha.

Autumn26
08-14-2005, 01:38 AM
Hi gals-
I do step on the scal every morning and night.... I'm just curious.

Van- No I haven't bought one yet. I can't decide if I want to wait until we move into our new house. I've been going to the gym every day though. I get on one there and set it to weight loss.

Hi Farukh -
That muscle is called the Trapezious muscle. I'll ask my dad what a good excercise is to slim them down. I am naturally muscular (it's genetic) and that is one area that is already shapely so I don't work on it in fear that they will grow to a manly size. I'll let you know tomorrow. What is your current workout routien?

Good to hear from you Van-
How's the new job going? It's so funny how we all have about the same measurements. With the exception of your little waist. When I was at my skinniest (113) I don't think my wais was much smaller than that. I was a size 3! I was also 17!

vinny081299
08-17-2005, 03:30 PM
Hey Autumn!
I admit.....I do have a very small waist. But my "spare tire" ( love handles, belly ) are my problem. Nobody notices how small my waist is due to the tire. That is my biggest thing I am trying to work on. NO MORE LOVE HANDLES!!!!

But you're right......we are all pretty much in the same range.

The new job is good. Getting back in the grind is going to be tough. I had a month off and well......I'm kinda lazy!!

Hey, sorry I haven't posted in like FOREVER! But school started on Tuesday of this week and I haven't had much time because of homework. Yes, we had TONS of homework the first week of school! It's crazy... I can't believe it, one more year and I am off to high school! ^_^ I want to DEFINATELY look good for high school so that is MAJOR motivation! OK sooo um I haven't really lost much weight.... I'll post measurements sometime...

Alright, onto P.E..........
P.E. this week: Running a mile on the track- WOW it tired me out! But I felt so good afterwards that I hadn't quit running cuz I was so tired! Also I think I am also at that TOM so I was cramping really bad but I didn't quit! I am so proud of myself! :)
Also, we have been doing volleyball which I LOVE so I am going to work very hard on my volleyball skills so I can hopefully make the team next year! (I tried out this year but didn't make it.) So yeah... P.E. is really tough this year! Hopefully it will help get me in shape tho!

So I will update later w/ weight/measurements, bye!

Saturday weigh-in: 164! I lost 2.5 pounds this week!

Autumn26
08-20-2005, 02:50 PM
Hello all -

Laura it's my TOM also. I usually gain about 7 pnds of water up to a week b4, that's why I haven't posted my pics yet. Do you normally cramp while runnung / power walking during your TOM? I ask because when I was 13, I used to jog, then I started cramping really bad so I couldn't even walk fast. It got so bad I fanally went to the doc. I was diagnosed with endometriosis due to severly irregular periods. I would miss 3 monthe at a time. If your periods are regular I wouldn't worry to much about it, but if this is somthing new, i'd bring it up to your OBGYN. It's nothing major, they put me on birth controll to regulate my periods and it was controlled.

Far- I haven't spoken with my dad yet, I'll talk to him today and let you know what he says. Your workout routien sounds great!

Van- good to hear from you! I'm totally lazy, I haven't worked since I found out I was pregnant!

As far as school goes, I start Tuesday. I'm going to be so busy. I'm majoring in Forensic Science. Yikes! What was I thinking????

ae_chick92
08-21-2005, 12:25 AM
Yes, I usually do cramp when running/jogging in P.E.... But not as badly as I did a few days ago... :( Oh well, I'm probably just REALLY out of shape. We'll see... And I cramp like all the time when on my period so it's not JUST when I'm running. Actually, when I went to the doctor at the beginning of the summer she said she might have to put me on birth control pills just because my periods were so irregular...but they have begun to come regularly so I don't think I will have to do that anymore.
Also, good luck on your Forensic Science classes! One of my friends really wants to do forensic science when she's older. I myself started classes last Tuesday. :)

Sorry Van, I've been so busy with school and I've also been out of town since Sat, plus I have counciling twice a week which also requires homework. How is everything? Lost any more weight? hows the new job? The Bowflex? I havent been working out and my diet was a one week clensing diet. I'm still concious of what I eat though. I'll get back into it. I haven't bought a treadmill yet, still looking. Talk to you soon!
