Hello girls!
Hope you are all having a good day. It's quite sunny in London this morning, but I'm sure that won't last! I went out margarita drinking last night with one of my best friends. She is going to Africa for 3 weeks for a holiday and to see the eclipse - cool. wish I were going!! I suppose I can console myself with my free cruise!
So - anyone got anything good planned for this weekend? My gay ex-flatmate from Edinburgh is coming down for a night which should be quite entertaining...
Boss Alert. Must go - more later!

Good Morning! I'm here super early again. DH has been going to work earlier lately, so I seem to be doing the same. The only difference is he gets paid OT.
Well I lost 0.2# at WI yesterday (yes thats 0.2 not 2  )! I was glad I didn't gain with all of the stress I've been feeling. To top it of I think AF is here, so I know that added some weight.
Anyway, one of my long time best friends just had a baby girl yesterday. I am so happy for her and can't wait to meet this little girl that I know I will spoil miserably. I plan on being the cool "auntie" and take her shopping as soon as she can walk and say "charge it!".
Yesterday was a good OP day. I even treated myself to taco bell and stayed within points.
Steph ~ move on from yesterday! The road trip sounds wonderful. That will be so mych fun!
Hi Kierie and Kirsty ~ Good morning to ya'll

I still havent gotten to breakfast UGH
my big decisions of the day
is dublin or cork
i was given the choice and I dont know what to choose
Being a gemini sucks b/c i can see aLL the options lol
anyway
Jen did u check dotties?
Kay gotta love being early but overtime makes it sooo much better

i say DUBLIN!!! (or dooblin as the irish say).
so much more happens in dublin, it's the capital city and has the largest population. but we're talking ireland here, so that ain't v large (in case that puts you off)! plus it is much better connected than cork which is a bit isolated. also, my really crap ex-flatmate moved to cork with her even more crap bf (who pees on the floor) so i definitely wouldn't recommend cork in case you meet them!! if you have any trouble understanding irish accents then don't go to cork as they have the hardest accent to understand! dublin is much more cosmopolitan. if you like eating indian/chinese/non-irish foods then you better go to dublin cos there ain't many ethnic minorities in ireland at all and good curry houses are few and far between (and pricey). dublin will have the most choice of these things. oh, and if you are vegetarian then avoid cork cos outside of dublin (esp over near galway) you get meat with every meal!
in short, there's better universities in dublin, better eating and drinking to be had, more things to do in general. plus, easier to come over to london and see me... ;)
but it's *your* choice...so what you gonna do?
Kirsty
06-07-2001, 10:12 AM
ps and from dublin you can easily visit cork and other places and see what a wise choice you made...
the weather is better in dublin and there are more shops...
pps ok, i'm biased! ex-BF went to trinity college so i visited dublin quite a lot.

OK, I'm back! Posted my problem on the Points thread and someone helped me out! YAH! Oh and Kierie... I did check Dottis, but couldn't find a greek restaurant.
Kay... yah on the loss, you are inching towards that goal!!!!
Kirsty... you are chatty gal today!!:D
Kierie... can't help you on the Ireland problem, never been there, but would like to some day!!!
HIIIIII to everyone else and all the lurkers. Not much new with me. Still walking the dog in the morining (YAH ME!) I am on a mini vacation tomorrow.... mom, aunt and I are driving north to go the the Minnesota Quilt Show. Should be fun and I will be a Charge It gal (hee hee Kay!)
Talk more later like always!

hey jen! yes, i'm a bit waffly today... ;) my concentration is poor cos i can see sunshine outside and i have a very boring story on overfishing off the west coast off africa...i'm afraid you girls will have to cope with the fallout!
luckily i'm also watching big brother 2 (uk version) on my other computer so i have some entertainment... lolly - who do you reckon will get evicted on friday? i reckon it'll be penny by a huge majority.
anyone else eat subs from subway? i love the veggie delite. so low in points!
auntie kay - well done on the loss!
mmmm, pizza - steph you're putting bad thoughts into my head!
suppose i better get back to work. out of interest i'd say a margarita was 4 points. what do you guys reckon?

Iloved cork but Kirsty is right - if you wanna meet people, be where the action is, its dublin. and you can easily travel anywhwere from there! You'd love it. BTW U2 was on the half time at the basketball game last night!!! My cousin, Mitch Kupchak, used to play for the LA LAKERS so I am a fan.....
It was v. cool, though b/f might not have though so! Hee hee hee.....
I actually have 3 holes in one ear and 2 in the other, but I let them close to just one in each so I answered that.
Well, another CRAZY day, crappy......might have to work OT but am going to paint pottery again tonite with my sister. I am gettin gsick of it so hopefully this is the last bout. B/f will love hte magnets I made last time though- they will be done on sunday and they are very very cool!!!
Kay - good job on your loss - a loss is a loss.
Steph - we are thinking road trip too!! Our b/fs must think alike.
Hi to everyone else
Well, must run....duty (and bladder) are calling.
Have a good morning!
Kirsty Woman! you sold me
b/c i went to school in a rural area once before and it drove me crazy since me and my scooter are pedestrians itw as a b1tch to go anywhere and im more of a city girl
besides how could i pass up LIITs in london with Kirsty ;)
btw if they set me up in an apartment whoever wants to visit can ;)
Kirsty
06-07-2001, 10:41 AM
i'll definitely come and visit! got some friends over there who could show us about too. might be funny to catch up with my ex as well. he split up with me cos we lived far apart and then really regretted it so flew over to london a month after to try and get me back. but i was already with current bf and i knew he was much better! hee hee, isn't it great when they realise they f*cked up?
i'm sure we could drag lolly along as well. ryanair (irish airline company, you can check out their website at www.ryanair.ie or .com) do really cheap flights (like under $30 sometimes). so from dublin you could get in a lot of other places in europe.
work kirsty work!

How come I am on-line but my posts always say off-line?? Must be something in my connection from work! Weird huh!
And I have 2 holes in each ear, but rarely wear earrings anymore... I think hole number 2 may be healing up. Not sure. Must check that out sometime! I know the 1st hole is still there cuz when I do wear earrings, they still work!
Not in a work mood. Supposed to be sunny today, but it's not. It's raining! Nice waether. I am ready to jump ship soon if this doesn't clear up!

jen - the online/offline thing is in your profile setting somewhere. you can choose whether others can see if you are online or offline. if you don't want them to see when you are online it will always say offline...

Hello girls...feeling much better today. I have a regular scheduled ob appointment today. Hope that goes well. I have no idea what they are going to do except weigh me and tell me to stop eating so much.
That is my big plans for the day/week. Sitting around the house is getting very boring...but I think I am way past the point where I want to go back to work.
Oh, my hubby had some great news. He had a case that he won in trial but the judge overturned the amount he won for his client. They appealed and lost and then sent it to the Illinois Supream court to be heard. They only take about 5% of the cases submitted. Anyway, they are going to hear his case. That is so good. I was so mad at the trial judge. Not just for my hubby's client's sake, but also as a citizen. They make these 12 people sit in court for 2 weeks, listen to the case and they do what they think is right only to be told they were wrong. I would feel like, then why did you want my opinion in the first place and then waste my time. Anyway, I am happy for him being that he is only 29 and doing some big time law stuff. He is a really good lawyer (but he does not think so and he hates practicing law most days).
Jen: Wondering, how many points does that salad have. I love them! Your mini vacation sounds like fun. Boy, do I wish I was able to go on vacation right now. I am so sick of my house.
Kirsty: It is so funny when me mess up. Oh well, too bad for him. It sounds like you have the better guy right now.
Belle: I took a pottery class in February. Thought it would be great. Ended up really hating it. I was BAD at the entire thing...painting, the wheele all of it. Ahhh.
Kierie: can I come with you and have drinks with you all. I would love to go someday. Hubby is not too keen on travel outside the US. I think because he has never been out of the US before. I mean, how can you grow up and never even go to Canada of Mexico? Anyway, I think he would go to Irland first as that is where his family is originally from...but we may have to go incogneto as I would be very embarresed to travel with our real VERY IRISH names...they are so Irish they almost sound made-up.
Kay: that loss is great! I say take any loss and run with it. Great job!
Steph: thank you and I do feel better...not as tired either but that will hit in the afternoon.
Oh, and I have one hole in each ear but I never had in earings. My hubby gave me a pair for Christmas a few years ago and I realy don't take those out but to have them cleaned. I am nt such a jewlery person. Really only have wedding rings and this other really cool ring hubby gave me for Christmas two years ago. Those and the ear rings is about all I ever put on.
Well, must get in the shower to go to dr. Talk with you soon.

Hi guys~
Well I stayed on track yesterday course I ended up using my so-called "banked and excercise" points that I had accumulated yesterday! Oh well, here is to a better day. At least I did not go beyond those banked/excercise points! That would have been bad news.
Trish~LEt us know how the DR. visit goes. good luck.
Kirsty~I think a margarita is 5 pts. I had one about a week ago and I remember thinking while drinking it that it was 5 blasted points and 5 bucks. UGH. Boy was it good though. :) Strawberry....yummy!
As for the earring thing, well I have one in each ear but am contemplating getting another one in my right ear towards the top with a small diamond earring to go in it. Just for shock value and because it is so un-mom like. I've been struggling with that latley, just wanting to break loose and do my own thing for awhile instead of being the goody two shoes mommy/wife role that I feel like I am playing rather than enjoying being. I hope that makes sense. It's really rather depressing so I'm working on it I guess it's just a phase......
Don't get me wrong I like being married (even though DH and I are at odds right now) and I love being a mommy and would not trade my kids for the world. Just struggling.....:(
Well gotta run for now, but I will chat with you soon!
BTW I tried on a pair of overall shorts that were way to small for me 3 months ago and now they are huge! I've really firmed up.
Hooray to the small victories!

OK, ate my greek salad and a roll. It was OK, too many onions. BADDDDDDD BREATHEEEEEEEE. :o
Emily... I only have one little girl, but I am not the norm. On Friday we went to a little festival after work to eat dinner.... they had a band and I was out dancing with my 3 year old nephew and with little Emma. I was nuts and definately will be an imbarassing mom... in a good way tho!! The little earring sounds neat... I am chicken because I heard that when you pierce the cartledge it hurts lots more. Also would like my belly button pierced (because it is sexy... and no other reason... dumb I know!)... but heard it can get infected very easily. I don't like high maintenance cosmetic things!!
Trish.. definately let us know about the Doc!!! You can call me at work if you need to chat..... Then I can not work too!! :s:
Kirsty... thanks for the on-line info! Didn't see that!
Well, I best get back to work... BLAHHHH. have to make a bank run to drop off the deposit. Gets me out of the office for 15 minutes. AND BY GOLLY... I think I see some sun! I better get out there while it lasts!!

Well, he did not do much of anything. I go in ncxt week for another sono so that will show more. All in all, very uneventful.
Emily: great job on the firming up. YOu have done great. I know what you mean about the needing to break out. I feel like I am dressing too old. I need to look more hip...I just don't feel veyr sexy anymore. I would like to feel more like I did when I was 25 and single (only married and I LOVE that but sometimes I just want to look...oh I don't know). anyway, I understand.

When I was in college, I got second holes in both ears but I didn't like the way one was done so I took it out. So now, I just have an extra hole in my left ear. What's funny is that's usually the only hole I wear an earring in. I leave a tiny gold hoop in it all the time. I don't wear other earrings much because my job requires so much talking on the phone and it's a pain, even with small earrings. I used to just take my earrings off, but I lost a few that way. :(
Jen: My sister got her belly button pierced last summer and she still has trouble with it. It still oozes and hurts from time to time, although it never looked infected. I was with her when she got it, and she nearly passed out. It didn't look too appealing, although in general I think belly rings are cool!
Trish: Good for your hubby! And I'm with you on the judge thing. I've seen that happen, too ... why have a jury if the judge is going to make the eventual decision anyway? I know there are sometimes caps on the amount of money, so it can be knocked back by a judge though. But that's great that he's getting the appeal heard. Good luck to him! Is he a criminal lawyer?
Kirsty, Kierie: I want to go to Dublin! I'm a quarter Irish (my last name is O'Brien) but I've never been to Ireland and know nothing about my Irish background. My grandparents divorced when my dad was 5 and his mother never told him much about his father. We've both tried to get info out of her and try to trace him, but haven't had any luck. James O'Brien is a pretty common name and we don't know what county he was from.
I'm in a happy mood today because I just saw three friends I wasn't expecting! :) We had a reporting seminar this morning, and they came from another paper owned by the company. I didn't know the guys were coming so it was a nice surprise. Got to have lunch with them. I was in one guy's wedding two years ago — his wife is one of my best friends. They all live in North Carolina and I only see them every few months.
Gotta run and write a story about a fire this morning. See ya later.

Over Memorial Day weekend, I broke a tooth. So, today I went to the dentist and now have to get a crown. $800 later, YIKES!!!
At least my dental insurance will pay for 60%. That's good.
So, that was my morning. Next Wednesday, I have to sit in the dentist's chair for 4 hours while he puts in fillings and a temp crown. But he said I could have gas, too! Yipee!!! I love that stuff!!!! :D
Well, I'm going to finish my salad and get back to work.
have a great day everyone!!
Lolly: When is it that you're coming to Kansas? I'd love to meet you!!

Thanks for the encouragement guys....
I really wanted my belly button peirced, but Dh was like no way cause of infection. He said my ear was o.k. but he wanted me to think on it longer before actually doing it. :)
Last week I was gonna have it done (without telling DH) so when we went to chevy's for dinner the girls and I had margarita's to (girl night out).
I knew it would hurt so I decided I should have some sort of stiff
drink before going. BTW, that was my very first drink ever so I knew that whatever I had would probably take the edge off. What is in a margarita anyway?
Unfortunatly after we left chevy's the place was closed....:( so what a waste of 5 points and 5 bucks for the drink! LOL oh well it tasted good anyway.

Things have been so great lately - we get on v. well, discuss things openly, I have time to myself and him to hisself...and he isnt' taking the job in Vancouver either - he decided it wasn't a good idea and said he felt relief when he turned them down....so did I!!!!!

Here's the story...
On Tuesday, one of our borrowers came in (Cutie patootie) and asked if he bought my lunch, would I close his loan right away. Well, I got all flustered and embarrassed (I don't know why) and said if he bought me ice cream, it would be a lot easier to get his loan closed. Well, today he came in with Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream for the entire department!!! I had the Low Fat Chocolate Fudgy Brownie. YUMMY!!! He also brought Super New York Chunk and Cherry Garcia and Choc Chip Cookie Dough! Yummy Yummy Yummy!! Of Course we all had to try everyone else's. So now my tummy hurts! But it shure was yummy!
Emily: I was eating that stuff called "Half Pops" They are partially popped pop corn. It's my favorite part. Well, WAS my favorite part.
Ok, I'm outtie! See ya'll tomorrow!
TxAggie
06-07-2001, 05:20 PM
Stacey ~ Oh No! I hope your tooth feels better. I love the half popped popcorn. I will be careful from now on. My fav B&J ice cream is chubby hubby. I'm salivating thinking about it! The name makes me laugh too because I definately do NOT have a chubby hubby :)
Belle ~ Glad the b/f is better. Maybe he just needed time to gather his thoughts. You seem in a better mood now that things are working out!
I have a couple of friends having guy trouble also. It is so hard to give them advice from the outside looking in. They all tell me that their b/f s are afraid to get married and that they wanna get married and what should they do? I just tell them to follow their heads instead of their hearts and see if they get the same answer. They are always complaining that their guys are scared of marriage. I feel bad when I tell them that Men aren't afraid of marriage, only guys or boys are. They usually agree with me but still settle for the b/f. Oh well, sometimes my advice is too honest.
Trish ~ I'm glad your appt went well!
Emily ~ I love 'ritas! They are mainly lime juice, tequillia, triple sec (orange liquer) and ice. Some recipes add sugar to sweeten it up. I was trying to concoct a low point version, but since it has so much alcohol it hasn't worked so far. I got a really good bartender book on the cruise (all of the boat recipes) so I'm thinking of playing with them.
Well I'm back to the grind!

Hey, I have you all beat on the totally Irish names. My name is Patricia O'Shaughnessy and my hubby...get this...is Patrick Sean O'Shaughnessy. Talk about some Irish names.
Kim; hubby is a plantif atty. He has some really sad cases. People very hurt who just want there medical bills paid (since they have thousands of $ in bills and can not work ever again due to very bad things. Really sad to have to deal with that all day. He feels so bad is he can't help them. The type of law he does is one thing that makes it so amazing that the court is going to hear this...they hardly ever take any civil cases. My uncle is a criminal defense lawyer and some of his caese are really sad as well.
Belle: glad bf is being so good recently.
Well, I need to get back in bed. talk with you all tomorrow.

Trish: Good thing you and your hubby don't both go by Pat! That would be confusing! My mom had initially wanted to name me Maggie (which is the name I want for my own daughter someday), but she thought Maggie O'Brien sounded like an old Irish washerwoman.
I love my Irish last name. I'm still not sure how I'm going to handle the whole name thing when I get married. (My b/f's last name is Root.) I'll probably keep Kimberly O'Brien as my newspaper byline. I tease him that we should keep MY last name. Then he'd be Brian O'Brien!
