Lucy and I are out the door and off to get our bloodwork done. Mine is fasting bloodwork but she's getting her progesterone level checked so was able to eat a good breakfast. I am taking a ww English muffin with Laughing Cow to have after my apointment.

It's Fair Opening minus One so I'll be in and out a lot today. Stay hydrated and OP, OK?

Hi, Lydia! I was just about to start a thread until I noticed both you and Ruth had already beat me to it! Just keep hanging in there, it'll come off eventually...at least I have to keep telling myself that since I'm losing so slowly even though I've been good. Have a great day!!

PS: Love your name....it just so happens to be mine too! Not alot of us around it seems :) !!!

That was weird! I was getting on here to post and then saw a post from a Lydia. Gee, I thought, was I already on here and didn't remember it?

Hi everyone. Remember me? I've been in and out, but not really OP since about May. I'm back OP, Day 3 of Phase I. Committing this time to stick to it and get back to my original weight when I finished JC (130).

Glad to be back and looking forward to chatting with you guys. I'll sign as Lyd so y'all can keep these many Lydia's straight!

Way to go, Jen! I'm the same way. I find I start slipping when I don't weigh myself every day. Keeps me accountable. But it does become a compulsion, doesn't it?

Goodness! THREE Lydias!! How common. :snooty:
 It's a lovely name... much nicer than mine. ;)

Ruth, I thought you were dead yesterday. When is that fair over? I need to do Dim Sum.

Schatzi, did you see the pictures of Lucy's babies? Oh, they were SO beautiful! I almost "ordered" one. (but I pulled myself together)
Are you dejunking while you pack? ;)

RNMom, I've missed you, too, sweetie. :grouphug: What a lovely hike you must have had yesterday!

Angel, I'm so sorry... :lol3: ... you made me laugh yesterday with your fan/cat story. I hope you're feeling better today.
Hugs to everyone with darned PMS/TOM. :grouphug: I have no idea when mine is, but as my depression meds still aren't working, I'm right there with you. ;)

Beach Bum, I think you're smart to up your calories. I'm sure you're right... that you weren't eating enough. It's easy to screw up your metabolism in doing that.

Amy, that place sounds fascinating. Have you seen the movie, Session 9? It takes place at the old Danvers State Mental Hospital. That's another interesting place to look up. What terribly sad places. :(
What do you think... shall we lose some weight this month, or is it too late?

Jenn, have a good time with your friends!

Kiko, I hope you had a fun "girl time" yesterday. :)

I started Phase I again this week, and managed for an entire 1 1/2 days before I "lost it". This is so HARD! I just can't get it together... :(

Otherwise, the weather has perked up. It's lovely and coolish this morning. DD is at summer school, and DS is about to leave for my mom's place. I'm going to put on the coffee as soon as he's gone, and put the coffee on. Don't anybody knock on my door!

I am so tired. I didn't sleep well yesterday because I have lots to do today. I woke up at 530 with my dad to make breakfast for us and pack up his lunch. Went back to sleep and now I have to get ready for a dentist appointment. I feel like a zombie!
Dad was a tad bit discouarged because he had stalled weightwise but I reminded him of our pact not to weigh and he agreed that a little stall was normal.
I want to go back to bed. :( I hate the dentist.

Morning everyone!

I'm on early for a change! Wow! Just got back from a 4 mile run.....my thighs are dying. Then I did sit ups, I wish the middle would die. What is with that jello wiggle middle anyway.............yuck.

Ya, I hate the dentist too, but I think I hate pop ups worse. At least the dentist ends. :s:

Ellis I hope you got your coffee. You don't start to really make sense until you are expresso'd up :D

Shatzi, smart to weigh in the middle of the week, I love your word for the scale "pork0meter" cute! Congrats on the 3 pounder!

Ruth, didn't you just "do" a fair????? OH, ya that was last year's fair! Is it this year already????

Well, girls, I'm off to get the day under "weigh". ER today and tomorrow. Then I get to work the weekend, uhm I LOVE working on nice warm summer days when people are out recreatin' on 4 wheelers and skateboards and campin'......................do you detect the sacarcasm?????????????

Morning ladies!

Not OP day for me and HB doesn't get paid until Friday so it will be rough going for a few days. still at 193 so that's good at least, despite the bag of M&M's -- hey at least it was small! -- and no dinner last night (couldn't bear to think that I ate a Boston Market frozen meal with mashed potatoes and then to have to eat regualr pasta???).

Ah well. Better luck next week...

Now that all my clubs :rollpin: are closed for the summer :beach: I'll be able to post more regularly. Going to change my W-I day back to my original Sat.Its not working :tantrum: on Wed. I just can't figure out what the heck is the right number for me to get the scale:goodscale: moving down.Starting to work with calorie counting again. As the SB is not working  anymore for me,eating all the right foods and wanted to start maintaining but my doctor wants me to go down to 140 where the BWI would be 24 HEALTHY, instead of the BWI 27 at 150.

Well, weighed myself today. I've been on ph 1 for over a week and I'm down only 2 pounds. I was kinda miffed....but, I am about to start my period AND I started weight training last week...so I'm hoping after this monthly curse is over (har har) and my body gets used to this weight training, I'll drop a few pounds quickly. (I can gain up to 5-6 pounds during my period).

Morning chicks!

Day 3 still OP! Really hungry though. I have PMS but I can't feel it because of the fog from detoxing on sugar.

Ellis - I'm with ya chick. We have a week and 1/2 to go - I think I can work off a pound or two.

My assistant wants to work so I have to go for now. :p I'll catch ya all later.

Morning all!

It's rainy and dark here, a perfect day to stay in and read. My quads are ubersore from weight training class, so I decided to take the day off from exercise today. I will be going to the gym starting tomorrow until Saturday to make up for it.

My meals today are all planned out. I'm eating leftover chicken divan for lunch (yum!) and having pork tenderloin and a spinach salad for dinner. We make our salads with spinach leaves instead of lettuce because that's the only way I can get DH to eat it. Not only is the spinach healthier, but it keeps longer in the fridge, too.

I weighed myself again and I lost that pound I gained yesterday. As I suspected, I think it's just due to the fact that I started exercising and increasing my water intake. I'm hoping, though, that I can lose another pound since I'd really like to get to at least 175 before P1 is over.

Hey all-
well I'm back from the dentist. After years and years without a cleaning, my choppers are shiny. But I have a small cavity, no big deal, that has to be filled next week.
AND I HAVE TO GET MY WISDOM TEETH REMOVED *dum dum dum*!!!!!! EEk!!
I'm not looking forward to that. I guess I'll have milkshakes with skim milk and ziploc bag ice cream and tomato soup for a few days. Anyone want to share extraction stories so I know what to expect?

I took a comp day today to make up for working during my vacation. I'm taking Brian in for his 8 year old checkup this afternoon anyway so I might as well be off. My weight is up a few pounds but I think it is water retention since my rings are tight. I'd better go drink some water. Dinner had too much sodium.

I actually went shopping last night. I had a gift certificate that I had gotten as a bonus from my boss so I bought two pairs of dress pants and two blouses and only spent $35 of my own money. I really needed more pants especially.

Now I need to get to the gym today. No excuses. And then take Brian to shop for school clothes this afternoon after we get out of the doctors' office. He really hates shopping.

darling - there are several ways they can extract the teeth. I had just novocaine when my three were removed (one never came down so they didn't need to remove it). Of the 3, two were impacted (partly covered by the gums) and one of those was infected so it was much more painful. I waited until I was late 20's to have it done so that made it worse and it was many years ago so there may be advances since then. Some doctors use gas to relax you but I don't use that. Some will put you out of they expect it to be bad. It turns out my roots wrapped around the jawbone and one broke off. He would have had to put me under to fix that and it didn't look bad on the xray so he just left it. I did have a lot of pain from the poking he did on that one and from the infected one. Usually they treat the infection ahead of time but he didn't realize I was infected.

I was so out of it when I stopped at the grocery store afterwards to fill my prescription for antibiotic. I should not have been driving (please plan to have someone drive you) and I almost ran over my soon to be ex husband in the parking lot. I swear I never saw him!

I did have to eat soft liquidy foods for awhile afterwards. Things that don't require a lot of chewing are best.

darling - um...are you sure you really wanna hear extraction stories?? Alright...you asked for it! When the dentist pulled my top wisdom teeth it felt like he was ripping my eyeball out. Other than that...no worries

With my first 7 day exercise challenge complete I am COMPLETELY PUMPED to move on to bigger and better challenges. I'm going to go for another 7 day mini challenge and continue with my daily 45-60 minute walks, but I will sub sculpting on alternating days. I have The Firm sculpting system and it's really challenging for me...I think it will be a great addition to the mix. I'll also push a little harder with the speed and form of my walking.

I've been binge free for a total of 4 days now...hardly seems possible.

Hope all of you have a great day on our beach!

Oooh Where's the love for our Dentists out there? Some might recall that one of my prior careers was as a Registered Dental Assistant, office Manager, and RDH... Ah well My "Drill em, Fill em and Bill em " days are looong gone! But it was my most favoritest jobs !
DarlingChicklet: Barb speaks true...many advances in dentistry..No doubt you will be numb... Most Docs extract 2 at a time, not all 4. Again, it depends on the extraction type..Simple or Soft tissue impactions versus bony impactions.. Bony impactions you will have the most post op pain.errr. Discomfort, yeah thats the word! Post operative: soft foods, ice on the jaw if it feels sore/stiff/ or swelling.., warm salt water rinses..but do NOT spit it out... let it drop/fall from your mouth..No drinking through Straws... Do as s/he says.. regarding continued pressure on the gauze afterwards... Don't get panicky if you see some pink or red for a day or so...Place a moist teabag over the socket and gently bite down...moist teabags help with clotting and provides some palliative relief...
Your tongue will no doubt want to explore ... try to keep it to a minimum...in short you don't want to dislodge the clot via sucking, spitting or exploring as that can lead to a Dry Socket...which is quite painful... err, causes more discomfort... :dizzy:

I had all 4 of mine removed when I was about 20...no biggie... jaw was a little sore for a day or two..

Ah I miss my Dental Days!

valerie910
07-20-2005, 12:35 PM
Okay, okay...I forgot to mention the fact that the top two were infected to the point that they had to be extracted like NOW. The Dentist explained that he would normally administer an antibiotic and have me come back at a later date to extract them...but it was already past that point. It honestly did feel the way I said...but, once they were out I was fine.

sat. morning i was in the bathroom naked testing my blood sugar and weighing myself when DH opens the door with a mostly empty jug of milk. he wanted me to smell the milk and tell him if i thought it smelled weird.

i went nuts on him and told him i wasn't going to smell it. if he had any reservations about the milk just go get a fresh jug. the store is 2 blocks away! for crying out loud i was naked.

Okay, does anyone else have this kind of problem? You'd think being/feeling overweight would only prevent you from wearing clothes that you felt were to tight, revealing, or unflattering. But I've got this problem where for some reason, anything but the most plain of outfits make me feel self-concious. It's like somewhere in my head I actually believe that people are thinking "oh she's fat, I can't believe she's not just wearing a giant sweatshirt and jeans to cover that up." It's accessories too though...which is what made me need to rant about this today, lol...I ordered a new baseball cap (Texas Rangers:)) because I need something to throw on those mornings I have 8:00 am class and don't feel like messing with my hair, or for rainy days when an umbrella just can't keep my hair from frizzing on the walk to campus. So I got the hat today, and I like it a lot...on me even...but I was thinking "am I really going to wear this?" For some reason I don't feel attractive enough to WEAR A FREAKIN' HAT!

Ugh.

07-20-2005, 02:22 PM
LOL! That's funny. Except normally it's me asking DH to smell the milk. It doesn't matter what he is doing at the time! It's what I need that is important! LOL! JK!

Okay I am coming out of lurking mode and jumping back on the SBD train. Lots of new faces since I was last here, but a few I recognize (Hi Ruth and Ellis) and a few more I think I remember. DH and I decided that since Kylee will be eating table food in a few months it is time for us to start setting an example and I agree with him. I don't want my daughter to grow up and have to worry about her weight like I worry about mine. Think of all the things one could accomplish if we didn't have to fret about how we look! So, here I am again.

Darling- you don't want to hear my extraction story. It was terrible and involved hours and hours of bleeding. But don't worry mine was a one in a hundred experience. :)
Talk to you chicks later!

CA85 I've been there and I'm not remotely skinny yet. Plain Clothes are easy to hide in but you have no reason to hide. I have plain stuff and I have Sexy (not sleazy stuff)
Its about appreciating yourself and it takes a long time to be able to do it warts and all. When I was 20 I thought I was Gigantic and I was a 10/12 and I hid myself
I'm 29 and I'm an 18 and I think I need work but it won't stop me from being/looking fabulous.

Hiya Ladies-

I have been SOOOOOO swamped lately! I've been able to read the daily but have had no time to respond (BTW, Schatzi, you crack me up)! I don't have too much time now so I'll just jump right into what's been happening with me....

Over the weekend, I worked on DH's demo derby car. I learned how to weld and ended up doing all the welding on the car. Have you ever seen a prim and proper wedding planner welding before? I don't think I've been that dirty in my life! The guys were pretty impressed though and still can't stop talking about it. I heard a lot of "my wife would never do that...." going on. I just wanted to work with all the good looking men! ;)

DH and I were supposed to go to San Diego next weekend but decided to cancel it so he can be around to work on his car. We did decide to go to Disneyland next Thursday and Friday so I'm looking forward to that....just not the food there. I know I could probably take my own food but I hate doing that. I've been doing extremely well lately on P1 (I haven't gotten on the scale in awhile to update my sig) and plan to indulge a small amount (not cheat...ha ha sarahyu  )! We're going to take my 4 year old nephew on Thursday and then his parents will pick him up on their way to San Diego.

I've got a big wedding this weekend. There's a lot of pressure on me because it's at the Bacara in Santa Barbara (VERY ritzy, celeb-filled place) and there is a lot of money being put out on this wedding. The good thing is that the bride and groom are really laid back. She hates when people are too professional so I get to be my normal self....I just have to make sure I know every detail there is to know! The Bacara treats vendors very well and I can't wait to see what the chef prepares for us. I'm sure not all of it will be OP but I'll do the best I can. Rehearsal is on Saturday and is a BBQ luau on the beach. Probably not all OP either but, again, I'll just do the best I can.

So that's what's happening in my life. Even though I can't respond to everyone, please know that I do read what is posted here and love hearing about the things in all of your lives.

Kissyjoy... I miss CA! Lived there for most of my life, and about 4 years ago DH and I packed up the kids and moved to Nashville. I love it here too... but I really miss Santa Barbara and San Diego! We were not far from you when we left, we were living in Simi. :) Hope you have a great time wherever you choose to go! :)

Darling ... My wisdom teeth story isn't fun either... all four of mine were impacted, so the blessing in that was they gave me a general anesthesia. But I ended up with dry sockets... not good. I will say, however, that was 20 years ago... and any recent stories I have heard seem to all sound like it wasn't quite such a big deal.

CA 85 - I am uncomfortable in everything I wear too. I'm trying to get better about it though. I have quite a considerable amount to lose... my ticker is simply my first big goal I have for myself. There's plenty more to come off after I've accomplished that!! I bet that your hat is cool...and I believe you need to wear it with pride!! :)

Hope all you ladies have a wonderful rest of the day!!! We are taking a little weekend trip with DS and his girlfriend (both 17...should prove interesting) and my DD up to my sister-in-law's house in the mountains. After work we have to race the dogs to the vet to get their shots so that the kennel will take them for us. Then...I have to run to Target to get a battery charger. My boss gave me a brand new digital camera that she got for her wedding 4 years ago and never used. She was just given a newer one, and gave me the "old". We didn't have one...so I can't wait to play! I did find out though after i bought the rechargeable batteries that it won't recharge them when it's in the dock... I have to get the other thing.. so I'll be racing to do that. Then when we get home...I have NOTHING planned for dinner and nothing thawing out. I think i've come up with defrosting some chicken breasts and sauteeing them in a little oil, and adding some pinto beans, onions, and some cheese, for some sort of concoction that sounded relatively mexican to me. I'm determined not to let my lack of time sidetrack me into pizza or fastfood. ;) I also have some delicious green beans from my neighbor's garden that are calling my name. :)

Hope you all have a great evening on the beach!

we had a yummy pork loin roast, green beans and mashed cauliflower for dinner tonight...another hit with the kids! Wow, two nights in a row with happy kids at dinner time...I'm on a roll!

CA85 - I've been the same way and have felt self conscious even if I wore a pair of earrings or a necklace. I think it's just a defense tactic we use to keep the focus OFF of us. I wore jeans and a loose shirt no matter where I went and just tried to 'blend' in. I seem to have pulled away from that in the last few years, though. I find that really taking the time to look good makes all the difference...even if I am overweight. I don't wear big flashy jewelry yet, but I do wear simple pieces that really make me feel pretty. And, YES, I have my favorite ball cap that I wear every morning to cover my bed head while I do my exercise :D Don't deny yourself these things...you may be surprised at how many compliments you get!

Speaking of smelling milk. I believe that I may have a mild case of obsessive/compulsive disorder...I smell EVERYTHING when I open it...mayo, meat, milk, toothpaste, shampoo, pool filters, clothes, a glass of water...you name it, I've probably smelled it. I never even realized it until DBF pointed it out to me last year!
