G'day all,

I felt quite cheery reading the posts this morning, lovely to 'see' you Ann sounds like you had a great time with your daughter and grand daughter, what a lovely idea with the beading and the thoughts behind it. Do they have a website? I would love to see them.
I am enjoying our winter but reading about your visit to Sea World, perhaps summer will be pretty good when it comes around.

Gloria how nice to be so close to Mattapoiset, I can imagine it would be lovely for a day trip...some lunch and home again. The photos at the Falmouth website were also very impressive, I loved the beaches and coast shots, just superb.

Nice to 'see' you Lily what are you up to these days? Your garden under control?

Slavika what is next on the agenda after the success on Monday?

Ann I would not have thought you would have been aware that our Prime Minister was meeting with your President. It is on our news services here of course.

I am not sure if you would have read about the cycling accident in Germany where Australian girl bike riders were ploughed into by a learner driver. :( The girl who was killed was a friend of our d-i-l, she attended the institute of sport with her. Three others are injured, 2 critical. It is very sad, it was no fault of the bike riders. Quite unbelievable.

Hello to everyone else, I hope you are all well.

Cheers
Maria

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILY... :balloons: I hope you received lovely :gift: and didn't eat too much :hb:

(You are probably wondering how I knew... well, it is posted in the Birthdays on the main community page). It is nice to see you again. I can't wait until you get your laptop and come back to us regularly.

I had a nice day today, we went to my DD's. Had lots of fun with our

Slavika I am so glad your DD got started on the Stem Cell. What a relief it must be for the both of you. The waiting is so hard.

It was nice to read all the posts, but now I forget who said what. Must go back and read again.

Ann: Sounds like a fun day at Sea world!. Love the place! Always lots to do and see. We have one not to far from here. The jewerly sounds great to. Very clever of them.

Maria: No garden is dead at the moment. Hubby had an In grown toe nail that was removed. He cant do any digging or use his foot right now. But its to hot anyways. I went out last weekend and lasted for 10 minutes. Its get to be hot very early in the day. Very sad about the bike riders. People now a days and the way they drive.

Slavika: So Glad Hubby got started on the Stem Cell. Im sure it is a great relif to you both that it has finally begun. :)

Trudy: Thank you! My BD present was the Laptop. I used it today at work to post so Im loving it! We went out to dinner Sat. to celebrate. Was a very nice dinner. Had my Favorite Halibut :)

Later!

Happy Birthday Lily :balloons: :cp: :hb::gift: Your laptop is a great gift.

Maria: I don't know if the girls have a Web site or not. I will ask when they get home and call to say they have arrived.

My garden needs weeking badly, and the only good time to do it is early in the a.m. before it gets too hot. I'm about to leave to have some foils done on my hair, make me have a few less grey hairs.:D: I had it done once before, and it turned out very well so am going to try again.

"See" you later. Ann

HAppy Birthday Lily :hb: :cb: :cp: :gift: So good to see you back with us.We have missed you.

Ann sounds as though you had a great visit with you DD and GD. The jewlery sounds like something I would like. hope they have a web site that we can buy off. Also never been to Webster. I'll have to check it out.

We are enjoying our Van. Sprout got a chance to check it out too. He like the fact that he can see out the windows so good. And he is very nosey. My side window id full of nose prints. We'll have to get some of those window wipes to keep in the car.

Went to a different Chiropractor today. The treatment was much different than the one i went too last spring who I know tried to kill me. At least that is what it felt like. This one today was very gentle first the massage. Then warm moist heat with electro thingys and then the adustment byt he Doctor. I hope i still feel good tomorrow. Have another appointment tomorrow afternoon. This is from the jaring I received from the accident. I've had a migraine every day since. Sure hope we can get me back to at least 3-4 a month.

Ann the kid who hit us received a citation and a court date in August. We have a lawyer who will be protecting us.

We have found out that both of have arthritis very bad in our neck and shoulders. The accident did let us know that. I knew I had it in my fingers but really no where else. That last chiropractor never told me that!

Lily I hear you when you say it's hot. because it is hot here too. Today the air was a little dryer that it has been so at least you didn't feel like you couldn't breath when you went outside. I need to work on the flowers but like Ann says only time you can work outside is early in the morning. So maybe in the morning I can do it we'll see. Hope we can start going to the pool again. Now that all the bruising is almost gone.

Well I guess it is time to quit and go to bed. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Thanks for the BD wishes!

Karen: Glad the guy got a citation. Hope they get him when the trail comes. This Chiropractor sounds much better. Glad it helping.

Ann: I would be interested in the website to if they have one.

Heard on the news thta there was more bombs in London. Sad

Ann, I also would be interested in the jewelry website. Especially that half the money goes to the Relay for Life. You just sounded as if you had the bestest time with your girls. We are going to San Antonio in August (whole family) and already have our tickets for Sea World. Looking forward to that. Sounds like we will be ready for the Splash Zone.

Trudy, I know you had a wonderful anniversary. And just think of the fun with your angel that is about to be doubled! Isn't this a neat time in our lives?

Lily, happy birthday and what a great present. Everything everywhere is so hot right now.

Maria, enjoy your cooler days. I always like spring and summer, but there comes a time when the heat becomes so oppressive that I get the same kind of cabin fever as in the middle of the winter.

At my office my supervisor's husband just found out he has a mass in his lungs. We are so praying for it to be an infection. Will know tomorrow.

Can't remember anything else. Just got a chuckle from your communication, Karen, that your old chiropractor "tried to kill you." Glad you are going to another one. My chiro was so good and, as I told you earlier, I feel better than before my wreck. But what a process! You find out all kinds of things about your body after a wreck, and mostly not the best news.

Slavika, so now is your DH kind of on a hiatus and doesn't have any procedure until the big one?

Hi All,

I have to go back and catch up. We have been dog sitting. First it was for my niece's dog-we had her for 2 weeks and now we have my son's 2 for 4 days. All I know is that I am tired of dogs. They are everywhere and this big one sheds. Ours doesn't. The vacuum will be getting a workout.

We went to SeaWorld up in Ohio years ago. What fun that was.

It has been really hot here but we have had rain for over a week. Things are looking green again.

Maria how sad about the biker. How is Matty?

Lily Happy Belated Birthday. A new laptop-that is not too shabby. Great gift.

Ann-whatever this beaded jewelry everyone is discussing sounds neat.

Karen glad that you found a chiro that isn't trying to kill you. Never thought of putting those wipes for windows in the car. I am going to do that. Always have a messy back window from Max.

Slavika glad that everything is a go for the stem cell. Love all your emails.

Trudy - anything new and exciting with you?

Where are all our new people?

Another hot one here but we are surviving. DD#2 has announced that they are on vacation next week, Martha's Vineyard. They go every year but I seem to forget exactly when they go. We will inherit Moshup, the chocolate lab, for the week. Since this falls on the day when we go for our boat ride, a neighbor has been recruited to let her back in the house late afternoon for her evening meal which we will have all set out. Of course, that means I have a week off from house cleaning....I will wait til she goes home and then do it. :)

Glenda: That is too bad about your supervisor's husband...praying that it is only an infection.

Lily: A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :woo: That laptop is a great present.

Karen: Glad that the new Chiropractor is better than the old one. Maybe once the aches go away the migraines will follow. Hope so!!

Slavika: Hope everything is going well with DH's Stem Cell collection.

Maria: Sorry to hear of the bike accident....things like that are so sad.

Peggy, Ann, BJ, Trudy.....have a great weekend all. Stay cool!

G'day everyone,

Karen I hope you new chiropracter is making a difference to your aches and pains from your recent accident. Hope the migraines are abating.

Ann my garden could do with a bit of weeding, probably a LOT of weeding ;) :D . I haven't had much of a chance, I did a quarter and filled up the rubbish bin. Last week I filled the rubbish bin with stuff out of my computer room, perhaps I will have another go this weekend and fill the rubbish bin again. :)

Glenda sorry to hear about your work colleague's dh. I don't care too much about getting old but I HATE  how so many friends, acquaintances etc. are contracting serious illness, all similar in age as me.
Since being home, it almost seems like an epidemic.
I don't intend to join them!!!!
I loved your email, very good :)

Nice to 'see' you Peggy, I don't envy your 'dog sitting' duties.
Little Matilda is doing well, it is so nice when they smile and are no longer little 'blobs' that just need feeding and changing. She is growing into her feet ;) :D , they don't seem to be quite so much out of proportion. How is your little one going?

Gloria glad you are surviving the heat. I always think of our pioneers when the weather is excessively cold or hot, how did they manage :?:
Lance Armstrong was interviewed on our news services expressing his sympathy for the horrendous bike crash in Germany of our female bike riders.
What an unbelievable achiever is Lance Armstrong, I am just in total awe of what he has done against such great odds.

I have been very busy. I think I may have said that a person here in Adelaide wants to use my skills to sell a variety of services to sporting clubs like websites, restore old photos, collages etc. etc.
It is all go, go, go. I was still on the phone to him last night at 11pm
He can sell ANYTHING to anyone. He is confident that it will all take off, we'll see, its quite exciting to be part of this and I am not fussed either way.

Hope you all have a great weekend,

Cheers
Maria

Hi Everybody :)

Oh rats......I was well on my way to typing up the most wonderful post of my life (hee hee :D ) and POOF it went somewhere into cyberspace. :D
I'll come back tomorrow, but before I go, I want to say that the hospital called and DH will be going in for his "stem cell transplant" on August 15th. We were so happy to get the call. We were certain it wouldn't be until the END of August or beginning of September. They knew that I really wanted DH to be able to travel to Maui this year and the more time he has between the transplant and January the better his chances would be to get a little stronger before leaving. When the hospital called they said to be prepared for a lot of tests etc between now and August 15th.
Talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. :) :)

Karen L

Slavika, So glad that the transplant is a go . :bravo: And sooner than you expected. You and DH and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure the post was the most ingenious one ever.

Maria I to have had the thoughts of what did they do way back when there was not even a fan to be had. :fr: I'm sure I would have turned into a pool of fat as I melted. Glad you new venture is so exciting for you. I too love new stuff to do. :D

Well all this week I have done my Leslie Sansone walking tape. :workout: Today I was able to get to the 1 and 1/2 mile part before I got too tired. Boy it doesn't take long to get out of shape. Still walking Sprout but not too far because of the heat. He is smart. He walks so far then lays down under a tree and I wind up carrying him the rest of the way. :D He weights about 11 pounds maybe a little less. So he can get heavy. :workout: Wonder if I lay under the tree will he carry me home. I think not. Told you he was smart.

So far the chriopractor is going good. :) He was taking it easy on me because my neck pain is the pits. Today he was a little more agressive. :stars: I'll let you know tomorrow how that went. Gotta tell you I love the Massage. I did have some neck pain this morning. But no headache. That is a plus. :cp:

Well need to go and find food I'm hungry. :hungry:

Just a quick hello; I have to shut down for thunder and lightning. My DD doesn't have a web site, but she said if you are interested, Maria, she will take some photos of the stuff and email them to you. Could you put together a web page from far away? You are so clever. Holly said she really didn't have any idea about how to set up one.

Tell the Princess and your dil congrats from me. Wish I could have seen her dance. Great news about the stem cell being moved up. That means Maui is closer.

Maria what a great opportunity. Hope it all works out. We all know you would do a great job. Grandson is getting rounder and rounder and a double chin or two. He is at the cute stage of giggling and cooing.

Karen I have to laugh at your carrying Sprout home halfway through your walk. You need one of those pouch things that they put babies in.

We have ds's 2 dogs here while they are at a wedding in Michigan. They have calmed down after the first night. They go home tomorrow. Took them to the park the other day and some lady fell in love with the big one. We were walking and she kept driving along side of us talking. Now we are looking after the neighbors dog in her house. She had something happen to her and she is spending a few days in the hospital. She just got this dog at the beginning of the week from a rescue place. I went to let her out this morning and she almost bit my finger off. She kept growling and snapping. She likes my dh better than me so that is his job. Feel sorry for the dog cause you don't know her story. She is about 7 or so. I am about up to here in dogs and dog hair. lol

Gloria I am picturing Massachusetts as very cool. Wish I could go to the Vineyard.

Have a nice weekend.

Just where did they dance? was it at Magic Kingdom at Disney World? You may have told us, but I sometimes suffer from 'sieve brain'. Everything goes in and right out again. :D:

We have probably lost our minds, but we have adopted a cat. Someone dropped off this lovely gray cat, and she has been hanging around a house a couple of streets over. I would see her every morning when I walk, and she would come right out and flop down in front of me for some pats. I kept thinking she needed a home, but we had said we weren't going to do this anymore. So, we weakened, and brought her home yesterday. She has settled in nicely, and tomorrow we take her to the Vet, to get checked over for any problems, and to get de-fleaed, etc. We think she is probably about 2 -3 years old, and she has fur like velvet. I think she has some Siamese blood in her, since she is a talker like they are. And the amazing thing is that she has been spayed. Why anyone would go to that expense and then drop her off, I can't imagine. She is very affectionate, so I think we will have a nice pet. Cat's are quite self sufficient if you want to go away for a day or two. Ane we do have some neighbors and friends, who would probably come in and feed her and take care of her if we were to go away for more than a couple of days.

That is our big news of the week. Hope everyone is haveing a good weekend. 'See' you later. Ann

Ann a cat is not as much of a tie as dogs, sounds like a lovely cat.
Our dd is always trying to talk us into having another dog but we will NOT give in ;) :D I wouldn't mind having another little dog but I am so pathetic that I would not put it in a kennel when we go away. Can you imagine little Sprout in a kennel Karen

Just dropped dh at the airport and another weekend has flown by :dizzy:

Since we have our PLAN, I feel very contented with life, it is a good feeling.

Hope you all had/having a great weekend.

Good Sunday evening gals.

We are back from our cruise of Buzzard's Bay. What a wonderful day!
Originally scheduled for Saturday but today was the perfect day for this.

Their boat is a 33 footer and we headed out of Fairhaven Harbor about 11:30AM and motored out onto the Bay with sailboats, motorboats abounding on the sea. An hour and a half later we made Naushan Island which is in the Elizabeth Island chain. Actually we were at Hadley Harbor on Naushan Island. This island is privately owned by the Forbes family, John Forbes Kerry, Senator from MA. Not directly owned by him but by a Naushan Trust. We were able to anchor in the harbor along side some of the most beautiful boats I've ever seen. Had lunch while anchored....Lobster rolls, wine, pasta salad and a lovely piece of peach pie. MMMgood!!!!!!!

No cars are allowed on the island but we did see a large group of horses that have been imported to provide transportation via, buggy and carriages.

After lunch we meandered back to Fairhaven and then to Mattapoiset. Had a wonderful chat with our friends and I think we will sleep tonight after all that sun, sea and air.

Oh, yes, they gave us a large chunk of freshly caught, yesterday, shark. I have sliced it into steaks and we will have it tomorrow and freeze the rest. I' ll let you know how it comes out.

Too tired to even read posts but I will tomorrow....also see the Retina Dr. for a check up on the Lazer work he did earlier.

Hi Everybody :)

Karen when we had our little Bichon, I had told one of my friends that when she didn't want to walk anymore, she simply sat down and refused to move.......so I would have to carry her home. One day that friend came with me on the walk and sure enough when Kita had enough she just sat down and wouldn't go another step. :D
Gloria it sounds like you just had a super time. The lunch you guys had sounds just wonderful. :)
Ann so you have kitty cat now......what will you name her. You are right, cats can be left at home alone if somebody can just pop in to feed them and make sure they have fresh water. I sure miss having a little fur faced critter in house. I think that kitty adopted you not the other way around. hee hee ;)
Peggy goodness you sure are getting your share of dogs visiting you. Have you seen that commercial where the young man is to give a dog a bath, and the lady says to him make sure you wash the dog's ears....and the dog is showing all his TEETH and growling. hee hee. :D
Lily how are you enjoying your laptop? That's on my wish list for Christmas this year so that I can take it with me when we go away. Actually it was DH idea so I guess he would like to have one when we are gone too. :)
Maria I read a couple of days ago about you maybe going into "business" with someone else. Did I get that right, and is that something you would like to do. I can't see that post now so I am not sure what it said exactly. :dunno:
Glenda hi there, what are you up to these days? Are you having nice weather. We sure are having our share of hot sunny days now.
DH and I bought a sweet stuffed little bear for the Princess and we will pick up one of those filled balloons that says "Congratulations" and meet her and her Mother at the
airport on Tuesday night if DH is up to it. Our son and grandson arrive on a later flight.
Ann I'm not sure where the dance competion was held in Orlando. I guess we will get all the details when they get home.
Trudy hi, I feel like I haven't seen you for such a long time. I am hoping that if I have a free day this week and you do too, we could get together. I'll be talking to you.
See you all soon. Bye now.

Hi everyone: Now our kitty is officially Smokey, since that is how she is registered at the Vets. She was quite healthy, considering, but he said she had a convention of ear mites in each ear, so he treated them. In three weeks we will take her back for the 2nd stage shot for feline leukemia, get the ears cleaned out, and have her de-clawed. The Vet said that now they do it with the laser and that there is much less trauma and pain, and that when they get home, they don't even realize they don't have the claws anymore. She has started to scratch on the furniture, and curtains, so since she will be our house kitty, we decided that would be best.

The Vet says he thinks she is around 2 years old. and in good condition, since she has been a stray for at least 6 to 8 months. I think that she is in such good shape because the fellow a couple of blocks over had been feeding her. She didn't even test positive for worms, and that was a nice surprise.

As soon as we got her home she headed right under the bed, and has finally come out. I expect since she had some shots and bloodwork done, that she doesn't feel 100%. But she is quickly becoming our 'baby'. And I know my DH is happy to have her too, even tho' he swore that he wouldn't ever have another pet, and that I have to clean the litter box. We'll see.:D:

No other great news from this part of the world. It continues to be hot, and we do go to the pool every afternoon.

Lily: Have you established a new email address as yet?

My weigh-in wasn't a good one. up 1.6 so I paid for my fun with my gals, but I don't care that much, I just have to keep at it and if it came off once it will do so again. I am not going to obsess about losing.

Gloria: Your week-end sounds lovely. We are hoping to get up to Hyannis for DH class reunion and homecoming. He is a grad of Mass Maritime School. And this will be 55 years for him.

Slavika: Are you planning to take us all with you on that luxury liner. Wow! What a BOAT! A trip like that would certainly make up for the missing Christmas Tree under covers. :D:

Hope to 'see' you all tomorrow. Hi to everyone. Ann

Gloria, I am so envious of your beautiful Sunday. It is so blamed hot here that it is a struggle to do anything at all. I hate it when it is this oppressive.

I visited my girlfriends on Friday night. We went to the other one's house, the one who had brain surgery back in March. She did not come to my house when the others did because her husband (get this) would not "let" her. What nonsense! Anyway, it is certainly different with her in the group. With the others we can say anything, but with this lady in the group, we are sort of walking on eggshells. She is so submissive to her husband and can't say anything in the least derogatory about him. We have all decided we have wonderful husbands who for the most part just don't have a clue, but Nellie thinks hers is so beautiful (not!), smart (definitely not!) and great that we should all be drooling (ain't happening!). Anyway, had a nice visit, but nothing earth-shattering.

Slavika, I am so happy for the princess and her mom! I bet there was a lot of pretty girls phoning grandmas doing the Happy Dance. I am so glad that your DH is scheduled for the stemcell transplant August 15th. The sooner it is, the less you have to dread it. I enjoyed your email with the details.

Maria, with the plan I think you have relaxed somewhat. It is so great to have a target date. And does your little Matty have big feet? I bet she really knows her grandma. You seem to spend a lot of time with her.

Everyone, stay cool. Ann, I am glad you have a fur-faced critter in your life again. Pets are wonderful. They give us so much pleasure and it is a fact that people with pets have lower blood pressures. Something about the petting, I think.

Hi Everybody :D

Gloria before I forget to mention it a few of the emails I sent to the other gals were not delivered to you, and I am thinking that maybe your "mailbox" was full since you were on your great little getaway. I will send a couple of them to you again. :)
Maria I didn't talk to much about your "Plan" for retirement in October 2006. That's good, that you have worked that out and will get more free time with each other to do as you please. :)
oh, I can tell already. that Smokey will be one spoiled kitty cat :D  So gals how long do you think it will take before Ann's husband cleans Smokey's litter box???
Glenda I know what you mean when you were talking about your friend's husband. Sometimes when I am grocery shopping I hear the way a husband is talking to his wife and I wonder why she doesn't just shove that cart .........well you know where!! :rollpin:  Hmmm. I don't often get a chance to use those smilies. LOL
We were at the hospital today for a blood test and spoke to the BMT nurse Michelle and she took us to see where DH would be staying while in the hospital. It's a priviate room, with a private bath and it has a TV. Think of it as a "poorly decorated Comfort Inn......that's what Michelle the nurse said. LOL It looks fine! :) There is also a lounge with another TV several movies (all apparently from the 1980's Michelle said) and some games etc. We also found out today that DH will have chemo the first two days in the hospital. The drug is called Melphalan and it will be administered by pill form. The third day..... transplant day(which they call Day 1) he will be given his stem cells back.
She said DH might only have to stay in the hospital as little as 2 weeks if all goes well. :) :)
Talk to you all soon.
