South Beach Diet - Question about Splenda measurement

I was wondering, in several recipes it says "one packet of Splenda". It is cheaper to buy Splenda in a large bag, so I was wondering what the equivelant of one packet is ? I was thinking 2 tsp, but not sure?!

Yes, 2 tsp. Though, to be honest, I find a packet to be somewhat sweeter than the two tsp of Splenda granular. :dunno: Try it and adjust as needed. :)

Just jumping in to ask, which splenda is granular? I have a recipe asking for granular but wasn't sure if it's the bag or the packets. I'd hate to have to go buy packets just for a recipe :dizzy:

Thanks Laurie, just wanted to make sure. I think I have to agree, the granular seems less sweet, so I use a tad more.

Angela, the packets are a finer powder, and the box, bag, and baking type are larger grained. (I hope this is correct, as this is what I was told)!

The splenda granular has some extenders added to it so it will measure like sugar. That's why the packets of splenda taste sweeter, they don't have the extenders.

Just be careful when a recipe calls for 1 cup of splenda, it means the granular stuff, don't try to open up 100 little packets to make a cup and add it to the recipe. YUCK! I had a friend who did that and couldn't understand why her recipe didn't work.
