Great job on the workout, Amanda! I agree with you on the AP. I still have a slider from when I was doing WW before, but since I am only on week two I am not counting them. Not like I've really exercised LOL! Maybe I will use Quite's idea :devil: Right Diva...sounds like that is your plan too!

I'm proud of you for reisiting the temptation Izzyg! The cool thing about WW is there is room for a brownie now and then. It has to be hard to work when you are surrounded by snacks. But you did very well!! Maybe if you bring good choices when it's your turn to bring the food to the meeting others will be inspired to do the same :) Great job on doubling up the exercise today.

Izzy No way are we gonna let you fall off this week!! Even if you did, which you won't, we'd drag you back on :)


Stephanie....Wish we had a Panera Bread here! That salad sounds yummy!!! I'll keep my eyes open for one next time I am visiting my friend the teh "big city" ;)

Amanda-how's the book? I love to read, but of late I have been stuck with romance novels. My mother in law gave me a stack. They are easy to read and easy to follow so when I am interuppted 150 times during a chapter I can easily pick it abck up. AH to read abook of substance...someday :)

Quite-The KFC thing is COOL. I think more places should do that! For example I eat all my sandwhiches plain, I mean grilled chicken adn a roll's not too ahrd to figureout, but sometimes it'd be nice to see what other combinations might yield ya know? I also think that everything shoudl eb labeled with how many food group servings it has. Fro example...a can of vegetable beef soup is there a fulls erving of veggies in it, how about beef? I like when stuff has the diebetic exchange on it. Yousee stuff labeled real fruit filling, but you know darn well that there's not even half a serving of fruit in it. I'd like to know for sure though ya know?

Diva... I'm with you, darlin. I'm going to inform Da Man that he's got some point-earning to do! LOL

I actually stayed OP today, first time since Friday. I know I won't have a loss if I do my 30 points a day for the next few days before WI, because I ate so so much Sat-Tue. But at least I can get back on track. I can't seem to eat less than 30 points. What am I going to do when I drop down a point group?

Once again it is very late, and I must head off to bed soon, but I wanted to share with you my big accomplishment today! You may remember the swimming incident from yesterday? I mentioned it to my friend Meg, and she said "Why didn't you go to the other side of the lake?" Well, DUH!! So today Meg and I went back to the pit and swam for at least 30 minutes- and most of it was water aerobics! Apparently she has taken some classes, so she taught me some great moves! Granted, I think it would be easier in a pool so we could balance off the side, but we held hands to keep each other steady and had a ball doing it. Part of the time, we were working so hard we had a hard time talking (I think that is the high intensity level, no?) but we were still laughing and it felt GREAT!! So we made a deal to go everyday together when she gets off work- YAY! Steady exercise that I enjoy! I think that calls for a cheerleader, eh? :cheer: And a dancing banana, just to keep things balanced... :cb:

So here's today's list:

Breakfast: V8, 2 eggs, one piece of FF cheese: 6pts

Lunch: Sandwich with FF bologna, FF cheese, lite bread, lettuce, and sweet onion and lite pringles: 4pts

Dinner: Lloyd's BBQ pork on wheat bun, green beans, corn on the cob, and 8 potato wedges (frozen): 6pts

Snacks: popsicle 1pt, ff hotdog (without a bun, just because I was starving after swimming!) 1 pt, 100-cal pack of chips ahoy 2pts

And, shame on me, 3 lite beers this evening at a friend's house (at my ex-husband's house, actually, with his wife! but that's a story for a different forum probably!) 6pts

That's 26 pts- 2 over my minimum 24 and wendie plan goal for today, but I did exercise today and I think I am supposed to eat those activity points, aren't I? I don't really understand the activity points- Do I have to eat them? Will I lose slower/faster if I don't? If anyone wants to point me in the direction of a thread that discusses this, or explain it to me in a nutshell, that would be grand!

And I forget who asked about the wendie plan- Iowasteph? There's a sticky thread that discusses it in WW general, I think, and explains it very well. It makes sense to me, the theory about keeping the meatbolism burning higher rather than letting it adjust to the lower amount of food eaten every day. I like it- it's really the same as flex, I just have to follow the points for everyday instead of just hitting the minimum and then eating more if I feel like it. So it's a little more rigid, but honestly I think that works better for me. Plus I still have something like 7 flex points left over that I can use if I need to. And the super high day! Well, enough said.

Good Morning all!! It's Thursday already? Oh MY!!!

Great job on the exercise Lori!!!! Water aerobics is awesome!! In my understanding of AP, you don't have to eat them. Our leader has said in the past before felx you could bank them for another day (not sure if you still can with flex), eat them, or just not use them inorder to lose weight a bit faster. I know with flex you don't HAVE to eat them, I'm just not sure if you can save them and eat them later.

Great Job Maggie!!! Getting back on track is a big step. Don't worry about eating below your level yet. Just take some time to stay on track for a bit. My theory is to focus on today.

Good morning, Everyone! :coffee: I'm just finishing breakfast (1C raisin bran and some skim milk) and getting ready for work. More often than not lately, I have gotten up thinking man,this is the last thing i want to do today. I have decided that I am in need of a winning lottery ticket so I don't have to work anymore. Would any of you have one that you would be willing to share? You don't have to give me all of it, but half would be lovely. I'm sure I will be inundated with offers, but really, about $5-6 million should do nicely. :twirly:

What do ya'll have planned for today? My best friend is coming into town from Georgia and is staying until Tuesday morning. She is going to go to my WW meeting with me on Saturday morning as a guest (if, of course, I can get her up that early). I'm looking forward to my meeting and am hoping hoping hoping that I have a decent loss!

Sigh... time to get dressed and do the makeup and head out for my 70 minute commute to work :barf:

Izzywas -- There is NO WAY you're slackin' off after six weeks, girl! That is exactly why I'm here on 3FC ... I do very well until I drop that first 20 pounds and then the mind says oh, you look so much better -- and clothes fit better or are too big -- and I've been so good to lose 20 lbs -- so I deserve a treat (maybe chocolate!) And then one treat leads to another treat and I blow the whole thing! I will not let that happen this time and I'm going to be keeping an eye on you, too LOL

IowaSteph -- Not really a Packer fan, but do like it when they win. In this area, you kind of get caught up in Packer-fever. I live just south of Platteville so am almost "neighbors" to your parents. I take it you're an Iowa transplant?

Oh, I hate when I do this. I wasted 10 points on a lousy breakfast that left me unsatisfied and definitely not enough to hold me over til lunch, but it was too many points to really allow me a snack without screwing with the rest of my day. I couldn't stand the thought of eating cereal again today, so i went to Whole Foods in search of its yummy tofu scramble with peppers and a side of turkey bacon. At 9AM, all the breakfast food was put away already. There was only high-sugar, high-calorie yogurt; all the frozen meals had tons of fat in them; i wanted something more substantial than just fruit. I wound up with a small container of tofu with balsamic vinagrette and some peas. I like tofu, but this didn't taste very good at all, and the peas got mixed in with the yucky vinaigrette and they tasted funny too. I ate it because I didn't have anything else, but it wasn't worth it. I'm still so hungry. I know that being this hungry at lunch that my regular salad won't satisfy me. Ugh, a downward spiral for the day. But I can fix it somehow.

:soap: ALERT: Whole Foods really ticked me off. I love that all their food is organic but I realized that alone doesn't make it healthy. Salad dressings with 18 grams of fat per serving (2 tbsp); frozen vegetarian entrees with 37 grams of fat; fake egg salad (tofu with so much mayonnaise it's obscene). That last one really doesn't make any sense to me. Wouldn't it be healthier to have real egg with just a little fat-free mayo? I guess tofu is the "hot" food these days, so it doens't matter if they gussy it up with ridiculously fatty ingredients. Doesn't ANYONE make good, natural food that tastes good without all that added fat? Geesh, if you can't find it at Whole Foods, where CAN you find it?

Thanks for the info, Misty- I don't attend meetings, so I've never really learned about the activity points, though I do have an AP slider and figured that I earned 5 points yesterday (I also went for a walk and a *short* bike ride!) I know the goal here is to lose slowly because that is the healthy way, and also helps in keeping it off, but I must say- and I'm sure I'm not alone in this- I'm eager as all hhhh to get rid of this excess weight!!! So I think if not eating the APs will help it come off faster, then I'm not going to bother with them.

Quite- I hear ya, sista! I feel the same way. Lisa and I have been eating a lot of "diet food" which seems to contain mostly chemicals... No good. Organic food, whole food- I think the only place we can find really nutritious foods is in the produce and meat isle of the grocery store and then prepare it in our own kitchens... Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place we could shop that had all good, wholesome food and nothing else? Why aren't there whole restaurants dedicated to serving health conscious meals- low fat, low sodium, whole grains, etc? Well, maybe there are, just not around here...

Anyway, I'm off to get some sun on my cadaver white legs- I bought shorts the other day for the first time in years! If I don't pass out from the heat, I'll check in on y'all later... hope everyone is having a good day!

Quite I'm right there with ya! Lori's right I think right now our best choice is our own kitchen. Then we are in control. As more of America moves to healthier eating then maybe more commercial food services will take the hint. I always try to get the most bang for my point buck, ya know. Seems liek I spend so much time calculating to make sure I get as much as I can for as little as I can.

Like the poptart thing, I refuse to eat them b/c they aren't worth the points. I think for 9 points I can have a large Healthy choice meal and 1/2 c ff sf icecream, or 2 eggs and two peices of whole wheat toast with 2 T ICBINB light ya know? But there are times when we are on the go, or choices are limited. You went in knowing what you wanted and plans had to chaneg and that's hard.

But don't let it get you down. Make the best choices with what you have and focus on having a good meal next time and a better day tomarrow. If you know breakfast is hard make up some muffin sandwhiches with those thomas' multigrain lights and egg and freeze them. Or I found a recipe for breakfast burritos that freezes well. I think they are 3 points, and they freeze well, have one with some fruit and you have a nice 4-5 point breakfast that is filling.

MISTY! That avatar! It’s awesome! When/how did you do that? Incredible- I love it! I’d like to have a Tshirt with that printed on it! A workout shirt! Ooh- some of those thin sweatpants all the cute coeds wear around campus with MSU across the butt- I should put it there! On my butt, there’s definitely room for more than three letters- ha ha!

I do the "most points for my buck" deal too- lite bread, ff products with one or zero points- and I also think that the more we purchase those things the more they'll increase in availability, and quality. I do worry about sodium content, also, especially in altered and prepackaged food- well, it's hard to get away from sodium unless you're eating all natural foods all the time. Consider: Green beans have under 10mg while canned green beans have somewhere around 300mg, or more. My frozen salmon patties have 310mg- ugh! My V8 has 710mg! Eating healthy is a difficult task these days- I'll keep plugging away at this diet and lifestyle change and working toward healthy eating... and I'll get there! Oh, I forgot to mention High Fructose Corn Syrup- evil! It's in EVERYTHING! I'm fed up with the food industry- :rollpin: Anyone know of an organic farm commune looking for more members?

Here is my menu for today. I didn't go over or anything, but I'm going to try really hard to NOT snack tonight at all.

Anyway, here it is.

1 piece of meat – 1 pt
Ό cup cheese – 3 pts
Total – 7 pts

1 sandwich – 3 pts (2 pieces of FF bread 1 pt each, and one slice of lunch meat)
1 serving pretzels – 2 pts
1 tbl spoon PB – 2 pts
1 muffin – 5 pts
Total – 12

2 sandwiches – 9 pts (4 slices of FF bread, 2 slices of lunch meat, and 1/4 cup shredded cheese)
1 serving pretzels – 2 pts
Total – 11 pts

Total points = 30

Tomorrow is my official weigh in. I had gained 2 lbs since last Friday, I was down to 259, and then went back up to 261. I'm now down to 259.2 again, so I'm sure when I weigh in tomorrow, I will have stayed the same for the week. Its kind of disappointing, but I know I have to just deal with it, and not give up. I know that with the DVD that I've been doing, it uses weights, so I'm sure I've got to be gaining some muscle. On the up side, my legs are looking good :) lol Last night, my boyfriend said they were looking sexy, so that made me feel good.

I wasn't too great today, I didn't get up and exercise. I walked a little, but it wasn't as much as we normally do. I may still exercise tonight, I don't have to work tomorrow, and I'll be staying up late anyway.

We soooo need to get some groceries. I'm so tired of eating the same thing everyday, and its not all that great. I need some fruit and veggies again, I noticed the more I ate those things, the more I lost that week. But we are broke until next Wednesday.

I'm sooo glad its Thursday, and I don't have to be back to work until 11 am on Monday morning! :)

Hi all!
I started a Thursday thread up in General WW and couldn't figure out why nobody was there... then I noticed this one. :D

I wasn't very good today--

B--Skipped breakfast. :o

L-- ate at work. They served lightly breaded fish (3pts), scalloped potatoes (3pts?), green beans (0), and canned peaches (2pts) . I also had one can of regular soda at work (3pts). =11pts

S-- We ended up at Taco Bell. I got a taco salad, but only ate about half of it and a couple of bites of the shell. (guesstimating 7pts) It just tasted funny. I also had about half a beef meximelt (6.5 for whole-- guesstimating mine at 4pts), all of a medium soda (3pts?), and a couple of my daughter's cinnamon twists (3.5 for the whole order- so I'll guesstimate mine at 1.5pts). =15.5

25.5pts total That's not terrible, but, considering the food choices, I could have spent those points much more wisely and been more satisfied with my meals.

No exercise yet and only a little water so far. I hear an exercise video calling my name... :)

I've been doing pretty good with tracking my points and eating three fairly balanced meals... but today I'm just "off". :?: Oh well.... tommorow I'll behave! :)

ok, now I'm starting to feel guilty for not working out... so I'm going to go work out now. lol... I guess its good though, because in the past, if I didn't work out, I didn't care, and didn't feel bad for NOT working out.

I don't remember if someone answered this question or not, but its about the AP points.

If you don't use the points, will that hurt you in your weight loss? I almost NEVER use my AP points, and just want to know if its better to use or not use them, or if it doesn't really matter.

Liz: I wanted to answer your question first. I'm not sure if ignoring your AP hurts your progress at all. In fact, I've not been using mine because I don't want to give myself an excuse to snack more than I already do...not yet anyway. I just can't be trusted quite yet. Maybe a couple more weeks and I'll be ready for AP, but not yet. However, just because I'm not using my AP does not mean I'm not exercising. I go to the gym every day for cardio, see a personal trainer twice a day for weight training, and then go back once a week for independent weight training (I get weekends off :)). So really...not using your AP just means you're not taking advantage of a couple extra possible points (I consider them optional, like the Flex Points). Does that make sense?

Okie, and now for my daily write-up! :) (Izzy, I'm just like you--this keeps me EXTREMELY honest! ;))

--2 pieces buttered bread: 3 pts.
Total: 3 pts.

--2 grilled bologna & cheese sandwiches (no mayo): 6 pts.
--FF original Pringles: 1 pt.
--cherry popsicle: 1 pt.
Total: 8 pts.

And then later this evening (because it's bound to happen, lol), I'll be able to have a little 3 pt. snack. Yeah...I think I've made my choice. ;)

OH! And if you guys haven't "discovered" these Boca chicken patties--Oh. My. God. They are SO good! Only 3 pts./patty, and they actually taste like real fatty chicken patties! :lol:

Any other amazing finds out there?

Lizzy I hear you on the grocery thing! We are so out of stuff I fed teh kids and my husband hamburger helper. But to make it we had to go steal milk from the barn. We tend not to use it from the barn b/c it is not pasturized, but it was all we had and I was 1/2 a cup short LOL! Greta job on pushingyourself to exercise, wish I oculd get going on that. I posted earlier today about AP, scroll back a few entries you'll see it :)

Oh yeah! Liz! I noticed that you were eating a 1 pt./piece bread, and I wanted to tell you of a wonderful 1 pt./2 pieces of bread that I use and it is DELICIOUS, so at least it slims your sandwiches by one point. It's by Nature's Own; it's called Healthline Light. I usually get it in Wheat, and I think it also comes in Honey Wheat. It's got 40 cal., 1 g. fat, and 5 g. dietary fiber.

I myself thought it was a good idea, considering most people eat two slices at a time because most people get sandwiches, so why not make both slices total to 1 pt., right? :)

Well, it sounds like everyone is having a good day. I didn't have to work so bought groceries and then came home and spent the afternoon "putting them away". I usually get everything ready to "grab & eat" and then I'm not tempted to eat junk -- so now I have grapes, cherries, tomatoes, mushrooms, salad greens, cut up watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, & cantaloupe all ready to go. I eat a LOT of fruit & veggies!!! Do any of you have a Farmers' Market in your area? We have one each Sat a.m. all summer and I live out of the FM. We are just getting fresh sweet corn and last Sat I bought the first of the local tomatoes (greenhouse grown to be sure, but boy were they good!)

Diva - I sure don't envy you a 70 min commute. Boy, that makes for a very long day!

My understanding is that AP points have to be used on the day they're earned. My "exercise of choice" is walking and I tell myself it's moderate level (but then I never could sing, and pushing my fat #@% along the frontage road IS moderate level!) I never use APs. I kind of do the WendyPlan as I have some days I'm a bit above target and then I make up for it with a lower day.

Oh this is so long already -- but have any of you tried the Kashi Cereals. I bought Kashi Crunch and have 1/2 c (1pt), with a 1/2 c FF or LF yogurt and some fruit (blueberries if I have them) in the morning. Sometimes just a touch of honey on the yogurt. The yogurt kind of softens the Kashi ... really good and sticks with you a long time. Lots of fiber.

Hi Sistas! We really need to name our thread and spread the word...this thread has been kind of quiet, huh? :)

I'm dead tired but I wanted to celebrate a little. TWICE I avoided major temptations!!!!! A company we do business with brought pizza for us- and I didn't have ANY!!!!! And I *love* pizza. But I told myself I didn't want to use my points for that right now- I hadn't planned on it. AND...I avoided the mother load. It was a staff member's birthday today, so they brought in CHEESECAKE to celebrate. And I didn't have any. YAY ME! If I had known these things were happening, I might've planned my points for it and had a little. But I didn't, so I avoided it. I'm so proud of myself. Yay me!

I hope everyone is having a good week-- it's almost Friday! YAY! I have to work on Saturday, but that's ok.

My work had a big pizza party today for this project we finished with no warning! One moment I am sitting at my desk mindlessly typing and then suddenly, there is pizza EVERYWHERE! The slices were practically forming a circle around my chair and just dancing around and around singing a little pizza song about how tasty they were! I got out of there as quickly as I could lol. If I had been able to plan for it, I probably would have, but with 8 points left for the day (10 with ap) I decided I had better not. ;)

Steph, I hope you're feeling better. And if you did bite your tongue: 1) I'm sorry to hear that; I know it hurts like **** and 2) be sure to count the points. According to the book, 1 ounce is 2 points!

Well, I managed to stay on track again today. Got in a little walking, only 12 blocks though, at a slow pace because when I did my walk yesterday, I had on shoes with no cushioning and my feet really took a beating. I have to start leaving a pair of sneakers at work.

Here's my food for the day:

S: Yogurt -- 2

For a total of 28.

I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday! I totally blew my points out of the water at lunch today. My boss invited me to lunch at a mexican place and well, I didn't think the grilled chicken quesadilla was going to be so huge...and so darn GOOD! I ate the whole thing... I'm not sure, but I'm guessing a good 17 points... right now i'm sipping my herbal tea (sweet dreams) because it knocks me out in about 15 minutes.

I am very excited that I have my first weigh in this saturday. I'll be sure to post here!

Thanks for the help with the AP points... I knew it had been asked, but I must have skipped right over the answer :)

I did have a pretty good work out. I was going to attempt to do both work outs for 40 min, but did the first 20 mins, and worked hard. I attempted the parts that I normally don't. There are a few exercises that have been really hard, and last night, while I was only able to do a few of them, I still tried and thats what counts. I hope to be able to do them soon without a problem! :) But after I did the DVD, I did a few sets of crunches, and that made me feel pretty good :)

I ended up having a packet of oatmeal later on, so that put my points up to 32.5, so I was under, but not by much.

Hippohips, good for you for passing on the pizza!! I know it would have been soo hard for me to do the same thing, I'm not sure if I would have!

I'll post about my WI on the new thread for today ;)


Ps, thanks for the tip about the bread! The bread I have is Aunt Millie's FF whole wheat bread. Its really good, but I'll definitely have to try that other kind out!!

Hi my name is Jill and I've been on 3fc for about a year now. Started in the Moms Losing Weight thread and lost about 10 pounds since joining doing my own plan and working out. I've just recently decided to join WW with my sil who just had her 3rd baby and has about 100 pounds to lose. We are going to do it together but I know how helpful it is to have others doing the same thing with you as well, so I decided to look around for a WW group. Anyway I hope I can join in with you ladies. I have about 10-15 left to lose (I call it baby weight but it's been almost 2 years lol) and just think WW might be what I need to get it off and be held accountable for my eating, since I will be going to weigh ins etc. I haven't joined yet and will be going to my first meeting on Tues. can anyone give me the run down of what I might expect? Hi Everyone!

Been out of touch for a couple of days but I've been good!

Took the kids to a water park yesterday! OMG, i'm EXHAUSTED! WHAT A WORK OUT. I can tell that I am loosing weight because it was so hard for me to get around...progress huh?

You guys all seem to be doing great!

I have my WW weight in today at 12noon - wish me luck.

I am finding it easier to watch what I eat - I had a grilled chicken sand at the park yesterday and age maybe 5 fries and gave the rest away. (I think it shocks my husband everytime I do that).

DIVA - 70 min. commute - that was my commute each way when I lived in Northern California (San Jose area). we reloed to Austin 2 months ago and now my commute is 10 minutes!!!!! I used to listen to books on tape during my commute and also Satellite Radio.

Lizzy - Don't feel guilty about not 'working out' - I don't like the work 'working out' sounds too much like work. ha ha Think of it as adding walking to your LIFESTYLE. like every am you walk - period - it's part of your daily routine.

FREEDOM - Excellent job on *avoiding* the bad foods! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

Izzy - YUMMY dessert, i'll have to try that one!

Maggie - congrats on eating stuff you don't necessarily like! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

A tip my leader shared about the workout points - if you don't want to take them, just make sure you don't dip below the 20 minimum. For example my daily points is 20 so if I workout I make sure I add enough points to get back up to the 20. For those at say a 25 daily point target, if your workout gains you 3 points you don't have to take them but if it is worth 6 workout points then you should add an extra point to your day to make sure you get the 20 minimum.

hey everyone new to the boards but have been using 3fc for about a yrs off and on. hope to get a little extra support here. just recently back on program after being off for about a month.
