WW Clubs and Groups - ~Log in your Exercise~ (well, if u wanna...hehe)
I don't know about you but when I do it and then SEE IT on here...it just gets me that much more motivated. So, here goes...I did a 1/2 hour last night and just finished 1/2 hour a little while ago. Including the 10 minutes this morning when I took "Minnie Min" for here morning walk. Poor li'l thing...I wouldn't let her stop and "sniff" cause I was on a mission to get going. Had to take Billy to the ER and then back. Sooo, while he was getting dressed and brushing his teeth, etc....I went for a "quickie". So that's 40 minutes total so far. I'll be going again for Minnie's "night night" walk. That will be another 20 minutes. So, I'm feeling pretty high and mighty because it's also my 2nd day of being a .... a.....are you ready???......A NON-SMOKER!!!!!!!!! And I don't even WANT one.... thatís the weird part...I think the scare I had the other night really did it this time. So, all I can do is keep taking one minute at a time with the smoking and one day at a time with the weight. I hope you're all having a good day.

Congrats, PJ, on both of your great accomplishments!
I'm doing more walking myself, but I really need to find shoes that won't kill me when I walk - invariably, I get blisters and end up doing less than I would like, because I'd be limping by the end of it! I seem to be in shoe h*ll, where I try it on in the store, it feels great, I even try to break them in before wearing them out, but nothing seems to help. If anyone has any secrets, please share them!
So I need to get past that and get more movement in. That's my goal for now!
Hope all is well with Billy and that the trip to the ER wasn't too traumatic!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I am sooooooooo po'd right now. I just lost the entire post I wrote to you elaine. AAAAGGH!!!!!! Usually, if I'm going to write something lengthy, I'll copy and paste halfway through it because after years of getting "frozen" or hit a wrong key and everything went POOF...I've learned to do that....but did I do it tonight? NNOOOOOoooooooooo, OOOFFFFFFF COURSE NOTTTTTTTtttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!
Soooooooo, to make it short and sweet because I'm tired and cranky and I want to EAT SOMETHING BAD BAD BAD!!!!!!!!!!!! and my puter wont let me chat in the chat room..... (don't ask, it's over 8 yrs. old..something to do with the java scripts)...
Elaine - There's just no way of getting out of it.....YOU HAVE TO TAKE TIME, TIME, TIME and more TIME to find that pair of sneaks that fits perfect, looks right, will cost you an arm and a leg and it WILL take you a long time. So plan on an entire day or even a weekend but don't let it frustrate you too much. Try being a size 10 1/2 narrow. Atleast in sneakers and boots. In sandals and some other shoes, I can sneak by in a 10 narrow. As a matter of fact, that's the ONLY thing that has stayed NARROW on my body my entire life....MY FREAKIN FEET! aaaghhh!!!!! O.K. - so.....just keep in mind that this small fortune that you are about to spend on your feet....is for just that....YOUR FEET....the things that are going to enable you to walk, jog, etc. to lose your butt....and to get into shape and to get to your goal and, and, and...you get my drift. Soooo, I wish I had better news as for the sneaks but that's the truth and nothin but the truth Elaine. If you have hard to fit feet...the above is the way to go.....just take it slow and be REALLY REALLY picky....and it also helps if u go to a store where they really know what they're talking about too.......
Good luck my friend,
Please God, let me sleep tonight :tired:
Can't sleep!!!! and it's 1:45am. AAAAGGGHHH!!!!!!! I took a bath about a 1/2 hour ago and walked my dog "Minnie" about 2 hours ago for a 1/2 hour...so I got my exercise in, just wish I could get some sleep...Hope you're all doing well. Stop in and say HI!!!

I met my sister in a mall early (before most stores opened) and we walked around with the other walkers until I saw a place where they gave hair cuts. The price was right so I had most of my old permanent cut off. Later, she phoned me and we decided that we had walked 15 minutes before I stopped. So I guess that's my exercise for July 27, 2005.
07-28-2005, 07:18 PM
Figured I'd put exercise for july.28 in this same thread instead of starting a new one ;) I did 30 minutes of walking and 10 minutes of strength training on my ab/arm machine.
Hope everyone else gets off of their butts today!!
Was on my feet all day yesterday running here and there...so I figure that accounts for something. I'm getting ready to take "minnie" for a walk before it starts pouring outside. It looks like it's going to break open on us any minute. I always walk her for 20-30 minutes. Don't know how far it is but I start out slow to warm up and then walk at a fairly fast pace.
I just had some cottage cheese (no, don't eat it for a diet per say...I just like it) and should get my butt out of this chair and off the computer. Hope to see you all later.

Between last night and today, mydaughter and I walked 6.5 miles in 2 hours and she wants to go another walk?????? I wish I could bottle her energy and sell it! Can you tell she is a cheerleader :cb: ?
07-30-2005, 08:38 AM
For the second time this week I walked 15 minutes in the Mall.
07-30-2005, 06:44 PM
Good for you, Freddie! It adds up after a while. An Jacol - 6 miles???????????????? <falls over in shock!> Wow!
PJ, you need to get a pedometer. That way you can run around all you want and track it.
Last week I picked up the pilates resistance bands from the Discovery store. It was a good thing I did, since I could take them with me on my trip and had no excuse not to use them in my hotel room. So I got a lot of workouts this week and now that I'm back home, I have no excuse not to keep it up!

Hi all! Olivia and I walked to our meeting today (4 miles) and then my daughter (gotta freaking love her) said "Hey Mom, when are we going on our walk?" I told her we already did our walk this morning and she told me that it didn't count. So here I sit feeling kind of like a pretzel because she said we HAD to do our 3 miles today. Ok she's 8 and has no concept that a 39 yo would like to just sit and watch the television occasionally.
07-31-2005, 06:44 AM
Keep going. I hope you did the 3 miles also with your daughter.
The television will always be there!!!
Elaine - The pedometer is a great idea, especially while I'm working.
jacolmom - Isn't it great how our kids can keep us young? Hey, my daughter just turned 17 and my son is 10. I can't believe I have a 17 yr. old...they grow soooo fast so enjoyyyyyyyy them........I'm sure you don't need anyone to tell you that but I just wanted to comment.
Hey Freddie - So true about the T.V. Lately I'm a night time watcher. It helps me to fall asleep. NICE JOB ON THE MALL WALKING!!!!
07-31-2005, 09:39 PM
I'd probably fall over in pain if I tried that kind of walking. ;)
Have been doing pilates lately, so I'm going the slow route, but at least I'll be more flexible for when I get more active. One step at a time is the route to go in my book!
07-31-2005, 10:04 PM
Isn't true that the kids keep you young??? Olivia DID do the 3 miles last night. My incentive was to buy the stuff for Stuffed French Toast 5 pts :D !
We walked today and by the middle of the walk, between us sweating and it heated up really quick, we did 4miles. Poor Olivia almost died. It seemed really weird today how the weather was. It cooled off finally but for about 2 hours we were hot.
I was going to try Pilates. What's that like?
PJ here....logging in my exercise for yesterday. Walked my 20 mis. in the morning and at night with minnie AND the running around I do while being on my feet for 8 hours straight at work from 2pm -10pm. Be back later to post for todays exercise. Still trying to get some time to get over to the pool and do some exercise that wont kill my poor "feeties".
08-01-2005, 09:45 PM
So far, I'm finding Pilates hard, which is surprising. I picked up some resistance bands at the Discovery store with the idea I could do it in a quieter way (I live on the second floor of a house and my downstairs neighbors work nights and sleep until about 10pm before going to work, so I'm always cautious about doing anything too noisy while they may be asleep.) This weekend while at Costco's I bought a kit for $14 that had the mat, a book and a DVD. I tried it last night and got through about half of the DVD before I had to stop. I think it will be great for toning stomach and leg muscles, and I figure that it will make me more limber, if nothing else! And hopefully it will help in the clothes department as well.
The stuff was cheap enough, and I figured portable enough for me not to make up excuses. So far, it's working! ;)
Elaine - Hi! I've heard Pilates is very, very good for your body from many of my friends and their bodies show it!! So, thought I'd let you know that I've seen first hand what it's done for some people. Keep it up!
Today I pretty much played the "slob" and hung out in bed until around 10am and then hit the couch to watch a little T.V. and read. Then I took Billy to football practice (his first night of the season) and when I got home...walked Minnie for a 1/2 hour. That's it...I think it's time to get a couple of free weights for my arms. THEY'RE GROSS AND LOOK LIKE MY GRANDMA'S!!!!!!! AAAAAGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! The dangling arms from he** !!!!!!!!!! :tired:
08-02-2005, 04:09 PM
:hot: It's hot here!! We can't walk in this heat and we are trying so hard to do exercise. Olivia and I are going to go for a stroll mush later in the day. It seems when we are walking every day we don't eat as much.
08-02-2005, 08:40 PM
A lot of eating is from boredom, and you don't even realize it. Just find a mall to walk through and do a few laps - it's amazing how much walking you can do in a big enough mall. Or start doing some early evening walks when it gets a little cooler.
PJ, I'll join you in those arm exercise - ugh, hate the way mine look. :strong: Some more of this and we'll get in shape! Thanks for the words of encouragment with pilates - I'm off to do mine now!
08-15-2005, 09:55 PM
Got back from Kentucky and we are off to the races again with 2-1/2 miles today for Olivia and I. We couldn't do much where we were because it was 100 degrees every day. I don't know how people can function with that heat. I thought I was going to melt.
It's been way too long since I've posted on THIS thread. I still haven't joined curves but I have been walking daily. I'm starting to see the affects in my LEGS. Unfortunately...not the thighs but atlesast my calves and knees are getting better. I want to be able to wear shorts WITHOUT the fat showing on the thighs and it's taking sooooo long. Boy!!! It's soooo easy to put it on yet soooo hard to take it off!!!! THAT REALLLLLYYYYYYYYYY SUCKS!!!!!!!!
Well, I'm going to surf the net for a little bit and finish my coffee. Have a good one.....
Haven't been sleeping very well tonight. Wow!!!! I'm a real, bonified NIGHT OWL tonight. Anyway......got a good 45 minute walk in today. Aaaaaand, as per the weather channel...we're supposed to be getting a tropical storm. TROPICAL STORMS I can handle....it's those HURRICANES that scare the living daylights out o' me!!!!!
After having those FOUR teeth pulled a couple of days ago...I'm still in alot of pain. Ran out of Vicoten and have been suffering all of last night and today so tonight...I gave in and called my doctor to refill my pain killer. Just can't take it. I'm packing and putting things in storage and this pain is really putting a damper in everything and THEN ... there's the KATRINCA HURRICANE getting ready to slam my EX...who is in Louisiana on business!! So let's just say my nerves are pretty much shot and NO!!!!! I haven't been getting in ANY exercise for almost 3 days now....except for quick walks with "Minnie" to let her "go". Agghhh...when it rains...it pours....LITERALLY!!!!!
08-29-2005, 09:01 PM
Hope you heard from Bill and that everything is okay down there. It's always something, isn't it? And hey girl, calling the doc for a new prescription is a necessity - I can't think of anything worse than teeth pain. I'm a wuss when it comes to that, so I don't blame you at all.
Hope you're feeling better, and we'll have to plan to exercise together! Well, with about 1400 miles between us! ;)
Thanks Elaine - Heard from Bill late yesterday and he managed to GET A FLIGHT OUT TO TEXAS! Just one of the "perks" of working for an Aerospace Corp. THANK GOD!!!! He's stuck in Texas now but that's better than La. I was watching the weather channel and the damage in unbelievable...I'm sure you have seen it as well. Who knows when he'll get back here but atleast that's one less thing for me to worry about. As for my teeth...the oral surgeon packed my TOOTH with something yesterday and just about ALL of what he packed it with came out last night. Geeez, I tell ya!!!! When it comes to teeth or feet...I have the worst luck. So, at some point today...I'll be back in his office. AGHHH!!!! In between the packng, picking up the kids from school, and going to my "regular" doctor at 3pm ... just one of those days.
Hope YOUR day is going a bit better than mine.

Okay, this exercise will last me a while, because I'm now exhausted! ;)
There's a little back story to this one. Basically, my niece begs me on a regular basis to take her to see shows when they come to Boston. This one, I wanted to go to, though - the new tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Starring the little brother of David and Shaun Cassidy, Patrick. Having been a fan of Shaun's from when I was younger than my niece is now, it's a nostalgia thing.
Then I found out that Ticketmaster now has a <cough> "convenience fee" of $10 per ticket. So, after choking on the price of tickets on line, I was determined to save money by going to the box office. Thus, the exercise.
I parked at work and we walked from MIT across the river and down to the theatre. Save over $30 by doing that. Proud of myself, I suggested we go to the Boston Garden to get the hockey tickets that a friend wanted (to take her kids to a real hockey game, which they've never been to.) So we walked from the Colonial Theatre across town to the new Boston Garden. By that time, my feet were giving out on me. But I realized that I was closer to Cambridge and where my car was parked, so it was easier to just keep on walking.
So back across the river we walked and cut across campus to where the car was parked in the garage. I just mapped it out on Google maps what we did, and found out it was over 5 miles that we walked this afternoon.
Man, I'm exhausted! But I saved $30! ;)

holy- I haven't been able to get to bed until 4am in the morning and I have to be in class at 8am, which means I have to get up at 7am to get ready. It is really going to catch up with me. I am really going to shoot for trying to go to bed earlier, but I don't know how if I'm not tired. It's not good to go on less than 6 hours of sleep/night. Once I lay down it takes me an hour to fall asleep- so I really am going to sleep at 5am. I might need to see my Dr before this continues!!!! I am going through nursing school and I have a lot of stress and lots on my mind.
Enough about sleep. I did a 40min step aerobic tape at home (FIRM- Ultimate Calorie Blaster) plus about 15min of ab work. Running/weight training is in the plans for tomorrow before I have WI at 12pm.
