MistySeptember 07-11-2005, 11:02 PM Hello Everyone!!! Holy Cow has this thread grown since yesterday!! It's so exciting :) It's late tonight and my kiddos aren't impressed about going to bed, so I will have to read everyone's intro's tomarrow. I can really relate to what I read so far, it is also very inspiring. I've been posting in teh Dr. Phil?oprah board, but it's down to just two of us who regularly post. I will still continue to support my friend there but I look forward to getting to know some new folks as well. My name is Misty. I am 28, and live on a dairy farm in Rural PA, about 60 miles south of Buffalo, NY. I am a stay at home mom of two Audrianna (AJ) age 2 and Ben almost 11 months. I also babysit two children a girl 4 and a boy 2. Fun Fun! I also have two dogs, two cats and two horses. It's a regular zoo. I started WW last Tuesday, tomarrow is my first weigh of being on program. I did ww a couple times in the past as well as online and on my own. After having my son last year I started again and was doing well on my own, but after getting sick in Jan I haven't gotten back on track (Itried this and that and decided WW workde so I'd go back to it). I also decided that I derserve a night out and WW is my little treat to myself. Well, I better hit the sack once I get the kids calmed down again. I like to walk but it's so hot in the evening and if I want to go alone and not have to push a double jogging stroller up the hills where I live I have to leave by 5 am. I haven't been great abouut getting up so early b/c it's been after midnight when I go to bed. Have a great night everyone. I will be reading your posts ASAP so I can get to know everyone :) Thanks for getting us started Andrea! ~misty MistySeptember 07-11-2005, 11:37 PM Hi! The kids ended up falling alseep on their own :D SO I read through the posts on the last thread. Awesome names guys:) I like Slimmin' Sistas, or Sassy lassies. Do you think we could make a list of everyone and maybe a quick one line intro so we can keep everyone straight? Then update it each week or something? That's what I did on the Oprah boot camp thread, til there was only two of us left. We started a a new thread each week, the person who started it listed everyone's name and we chose to do pounds lost that week and kept a running total for the group as the weeks went. There seems to be so many of us it's hard to keep track of real names and screen names...at least for me, then again the majority of my daily converstations are held with people under the age of 5. By the end of the day I am lucky to remember my own name LOL!! Someone mentioned water exercise (Andrea maybe?). Aquacize belts do rock!! I used to teach Aqua Areobics, if you are interested in shallow water exersicse I might remember a few. Really almost anything you do on land you can do in the water, I even taught a class of step aerobics in the water with weighted steps made by speedo. I worked at a Y with a movable floor pool. The entire pool floor moved up and down. We'd set it at 2.5 for little kids so they could touch and they used to do diving by lowering it to 10 feet. My clases where taught at 3.5-4 feet (we never used the yard stick to determine the depth, we'd just go by where the water landed on our boobs LOL) So even if you just have a really shallow pool (those blue ones with the inflatable top ring come to mind since everyone but me seems to have one these days) you can bennefit from the water's resistance and it takes some of the weight off your joints. How I long for a pool!!!!!!! I used to run in the water for about 3-5 hours straight every saturday teaching lessons, not mention hours and hours of walking around and around the pool deck guarding lap swim and all the lessons I taught during the rest of the week. I had a good day today. I can't remember everything I ate, but I was within my points. I used all my flex points this week, mostly last night and tonight. I did not count my exercise points b/c I am only on week one. I haev my old slider form when I was doing it before, but I decided to just jot down in my tracker that I did walk. Tomarrow is weigh in for me:) ok off to bed now or I won't eb able to wlak at 5 lol. Have a great night all! ~misty iowasteph2 07-11-2005, 11:48 PM Hi, everybody!!! I'm a WW newbie too! I'm Stephanie. I'm 27 years old, a newlywed, and an aquarius (lol)! Tonight was my first weigh-in, and I lost 3.6 pounds! Yeah!! I started WW at 175.6. 155 is my long-term goal. I have a question for you---when will they teach me about exercise points. I'm down to only 22 points a day, and I could use a an extra point or two!! Thanks!! izzysgirl 07-12-2005, 01:56 AM Ok, I think I've figured this thing out. Under the support forum on the main forum page, there is a section or thread or whatever for support groups to use. Maybe you all knew that already, and I'm just slow, I don't know! But anyway, I'm going to post to the support groups section as "whatever-we're-calling-ourselves group" and I'll list the suggestions for names- I think someone mentioned voting tomorrow? Then maybe we can talk about the suggestions from- Oh, gosh, I don't remember, I think Misty? About the list of names and such? I'll just list who we have so far, and if I've missed anyone please speak up! If anyone has trouble finding the post, PM me. I hope no one minds that I'm moving us- I'm not trying to be a control freak or anything!! :o MistySeptember 07-12-2005, 07:41 AM Welcome Stephanie!! Congratulations on your marriage!! And your loss!!! WAY TO GO!!! I think it's week four or so you will get another slider to calculate activity points. Sounds good to me Izzysgirl:) Why can't we stay here? Just curious not sure how all this works. They also have a WW clubs and groups board here in WW. I'm gonna go over to the support board and see if anyone's home :) I'll post there. Have a good one. ~misty CAtoTX 07-12-2005, 10:03 AM Hmmmmmmm, I can't find the forum - probably just me, I'm lame! LOL.....Mara andreaphilip3 07-12-2005, 10:53 AM good morning all!!!:) hows everyones dayso far? i just drank a huge smoothie and ill be darned it kept me than just full!"D im w misty.... id really like to stay in this forum esp bc i think most of us are ww ppl. yes im the one w the water exercise and love it! i cant do step tho i cant get me feet up high enough bc i have cp. if we want a group list i can do that tonight(gotta busy day ahead) unless someone can get to it sooner! i feel lotsa support already!!!:) izzysgirl 07-12-2005, 11:21 AM Ok, I was looking all over for the icon with the sheep so I could say- I feel sheepish! Well, here's a dancing banana instead, just because it makes me giggle! :cb: What a silly butt I am! I didn't even notice the WW groups section here on the WW board! I read in the support forum that they created that to keep group threads together to allow better responses to each type of post in respective forums, and I thought- oh! we should move over! But I think you girls are right- it makes more sense to stay put in WW- there is a section for groups here and it is not nearly as crowded as the support forum... So, I will tell the ladies on the support forum of my boo boo, and move over my post about the names, and let things be! :o Oh, Mara- I'm quite sure you're not lame! :) Sorry for the confusion!! Here's the post from the "other side"... -------------- SO- Here's the list of suggested names- and if I've missed any, please speak up! 1. Sassie Lassies 2. Summer '05 Chickies 3. The Slimmin' Sistas 4. The Weight Watchin' Wonders 5. The Dieting Divas 6. The Pretty Positive Posse And the list of names I have so far- again, please speak up if I've missed you or spelled your name wrong! andreaphillips3 calpurrnia wflentie hippohips freedom&light AmyMCGS Susiec123 MistySeptember CAtoTX Megsa TinaMarie Lizzyg izzysgirl Quite-a-handful Stacey2320 angelao95 izzywas lilpiggy82much LJ Tryingtorefocus Diva at 40 iowasteph2 Ok, that's that! ----------------- And while I'm here I might as well cast my vote for Slimmin' Sistas! izzywas 07-12-2005, 11:36 AM Good morning girls! I am so excited about being a part of an online group- this is way exciting! I just finished my Mock "fast food breakfast"... How are we today? I'm taking a quick break at work to post. I need a break...i'm starting to get pretty hungry and lunch is an hour away, but i can hold out. :) I'm on Day 3 and going strong so far... I'm excited about my first weigh in this Saturday. Do any of you have any sabatogers in your house? I came home from last night and my husband had bought me a bag of Milano double chocolate cookies (2 cookies is 3 points according to the point finder thingy). Now, he knows i adore those cookies and can eat a whole bag in one sitting. THEN he says to me, well, i almost brought home some ice cream because they were buy one get one free... umm HELLO? i crave ice cream every night around 9-10 p.m. and usually have to go buy it myself and now that i'm on WW you want to bring home ice cream to be sweet? ARGH!!!!! :tantrum: i very sweetly hugged him and said, you're trying to sabotage me, aren't you? he was like NO! i'm trying to be sweet and do something nice for you! uh huh... you know, he does this every time i try to lose weight. he's lucky i love him so much ;) i don't think he realizes what he's doing.... Calpurrnia 07-12-2005, 01:10 PM You know...the more I think about it, the more I want to change my vote to Slimmin' Sistas. Lol. And I just have to say...thread hopping is hilarious! ;) It's okay Lori! :) Besides, I like the dancing banana much better than I do the idea of a sheepish sheep, hehe. Well, so far I've only used 3 points for breakfast. I had 1 c. of Cheerios and 2/3 c. of 1% milk. In a couple of hours, I'll work on figuring out what to do for lunch. :) Any ideas? ;) Hope everyone's having a good day! :) ~Amanda Calpurrnia 07-12-2005, 01:18 PM Do any of you have any sabatogers in your house? I came home from last night and my husband had bought me a bag of Milano double chocolate cookies (2 cookies is 3 points according to the point finder thingy). Diva: wow...you know, I would suggest maybe taking him through the grocery store the next time you go, Point Finder in hand. Tabulate the points and write down the foods that are good and the foods that aren't so good, and give him a list of them (with points values) and say, "Okay. If you want to be sweet, these are the foods you can buy me, and I won't want to kill you." :D (Or something like that in your own words, haha.) He could keep that list with him whenever he goes shopping and that way he knows which foods to stay away from (and therefore which foods won't incur your wrath ;)). Also, another really helpful thing (just to help you along)--when I did WW in high school, my mom was amazingly helpful. She took a permanent marker and wrote the points values on all the boxes and bags and cans of food so that I knew precisely what I was putting in my mouth even without having to stand there and count. That ended up being very helpful, especially on school days when I was in a rush to eat breakfast and make my lunch. And if you do something like that, your husband will see the points values himself and maybe it'll help him visualize just how important this is to you. Of course, there is always another option: bring him to your next WW meeting and tell the other people what he did! Lol. ;) Just kidding. ...kind of. Have a good day! Good luck! ~Amanda CAtoTX 07-12-2005, 01:21 PM I like the Summer '05 Chickes (because it says when we all started) Just my .02! So far today - it's 11:20 where I am - I have had water and a 2pt WW bar. I weight in at 12Noon - and had a bday this weekend and had company come so i PRAY i didn't over eat too much, we'll see! I'll let you know after weigh-in how it goes. WISH ME LUCK! p/s I think we can still be under the WW forum, just have our own name and postings right? ....Mara MistySeptember 07-12-2005, 02:04 PM Good afternoon everyone!! It's been a long morning! The kids are in rare form. I was able to pull weeds in my flower bed while they played in the yard and I finished planting some of my petunias...half a flat left to go. They've only been sitting there ummm let's see three weeks. I had 2 thomas' multigrain muffins for breakfast with 1 T of PB and 1 T of jelly between the two. So that's like 5 points. For lunch I had a grilled cheese made with 1T ICBINB light spread and 1 slice of american cheese on whole wheat (5 points). I know WW says you don't have to measure, you can just use guidlines, but I measure. I weigh and measure. I've drank 32 ounces of water. OH and I had half a twin pop popcycle when we came in from outside 1 point. I guess my vote is for slimmin' sistas. Diva~Boy do I hear ya!!! My husband does that kind of thing too! Where's that snickers bar when PMS is raging? Nope never see it only when I'm busting my heiney does he bring them home. I feel bad when I get angry, or even when I say no thanks. But I feel even worse when I say OH YUMMY! and chow down. Amanda is right on with her suggestions. Give him ideas as to what is ok. Let him know you mean bussiness. I also write on packages the points values. Especially stuff that has more than one meal or serving in teh box, stuff like rice and noodles. Then when I make chicken and rice I throw the dry rice in the casserole. That way I have written the points for the amount of uncooked rice right on the box. Also if I freeze left overs I label it with points as well as the name of the dish. That way I don't have to rely on my lapsing memory. I must say I can relate to your icecream. My name is Misty and I am addicted to icecream. I have recently discovered Turkey Hill Dutch Chocolate Fat free sugar free icecream. Not too bad. 1 point for half a cup. There are a couple healthy choice ones that aren't too bad either, and someone makes a mint choc chip one that is REALLY good and very low in points, but I can't remember who. It's hard to get good stuff around here, teh stores are small and variety is limited. But I save two points everyday for 1 cup of icecream. If I don't have fat free sugar free in the house I save 8 points for a cup of the full fat stuff. I call it my sanity. What kind of smoothie did you have Andrea? I have a smoothie maker and I am always on the look out for new ideas. I didn't really care for the step aerobics either, I just had to teach the class b/c they made me LOL. My favorite things are abs and also arm moves with empty milk jugs. No worries Lori, you were just being helpful and organized :) It's that kind of drive that will get you to your goal:) Ok, I have never had Canadian Bacon. I HATE ham. It's not so much the taste as the consistency. I used to be a vegetarin and while I eat most other meats now I can't eat ham. I was going to buy Canadian bacon once, but my husband said "It's good like ham" I refuse to try it. But at one point a slice it might be worth a shot. So what's it like? Hope your weigh in went well Mara! k well nap time is not going well, as in nobody is napping. UGHHH. have a great day everyone! ~misty izzywas 07-12-2005, 02:43 PM Okay, here's the scoop on the canadian bacon I use. The brand is "Jones Dairy Farm" and it is 2 points for 3 slices! I usually only use 1 slice at a time, but I count it as 1 point instead of .666666666! LOL I think that it tastes just like the canadian bacon on an Egg McMuffin from you know where. :mcd: ( Have any of you guys seen the movie Supersize?) Last night Lori and I had the No Pudge :ink: Ice Cream cones for the first time and they were GREAT! :cp: And only 2 points each. They were a bit spendy, but way worth it! Quite-a-Handful 07-12-2005, 05:24 PM Hey, ladies... crazy busy day for me today. I took a mental health day from work and wound up spending the whole day working anyway. I'm kind of liking the Slimmin' Sistas too. But I'm cool with whatever you all decide. Hey, in that list of user IDs, can we add first names, birthdays, hometowns and goal weights, as well. It'll be nice to have them all together. If someone could gather them, that would be great. I'm Maggie; 2/5/62; Philadelphia; goal: 145. I'll check back in later when there's more time. I've been having a really hard time foodwise since my weigh in on Saturday. I gotta pull it together before I blow the whole week. MistySeptember 07-12-2005, 06:32 PM UGHHHH! I know I just met you guys but I have to vent a little and there is nobody here. My husband also took a mental health day. He spent it making hay with his dad (the one who runs the dairy farm). Now mind you he only gets 5 vacation days this year b/c he just started with the company and he's taken at least two plus this one. SO much for a long weekend at Hershey Park or Camping with the kids as we had planned! But here's the kicker, I have to take both kids to my meeting weigh in and leave. DD did not nap, my mother in law is not home, and DH thinks making horse hay is way more important than allowing his wife out of the house alone for two hours. He did offer to allow me to drop them off with him. Yeah what is a two year old and a 11 month old going to do for two hours on a tractor in a field? IS HE INSANE? Well I have to go pack everyone into the car. I am so angry, it's only week two and I am already skipping meetings. I thought maybe trying to make it through with thr kids but there is just no way. It would be so unfair to everyone else. Well have a great night. I'll be back to post my dinner points. I fed teh kdis already so I'll be eating probably after they go to bed. ~misty iowasteph2 07-12-2005, 06:52 PM Hello!! I haven't had the best WW day. It's dh's birthday today. I did well for breakfast (1 cup of Kellogg's Smartstart and .5 cup of skim milk for 4 total points), 1 cup of watermelon for a morning snack (1 point). But...then we went to Old Chicago's for lunch!! Yikes!! I ate 3 pieces of pizza, which is probably the points allotment for the entire week!!!! :( Now, dh wants to go out for drinks tonight. We haven't been out for drinks for about 2 years, so I suppose I should go out and have fun...just not too much fun!! Any suggestions? I'm trying to "teach" myself how to jog. It's always been so hard for me. I'm mixing walking and jogging. Wish me luck! It's a lot of work!!! Lizzyg 07-12-2005, 07:13 PM Hi again! I've done pretty well today so far, I exercised in the morning to my DVD for 20 mins, and I really didn't want to do it! :) LOL I was just sooo tired, and during the whole thing, I kept saying, I don't want to do this, I want to go back to bed... but I did it. And then I walked about .7 mile on my lunch break, so that helped too. I'm only at 12 pts for the day, with my breakfast and lunch. We're having hot dogs tonight, so at least I have the extra points if I need them. But a tip my coworker gave me on hot dogs - If you feel like you need to have 2, cut them down the middle and put them on 2 separate buns... it makes you feel like you are really having 2 instead of just one :) ~Liz Quite-a-Handful 07-12-2005, 07:43 PM Well I have to go pack everyone into the car. I am so angry, it's only week two and I am already skipping meetings. I thought maybe trying to make it through with thr kids but there is just no way. It would be so unfair to everyone else. Misty, of course going to your meetings and staying for the whole thing is best, but one of the great things about a group like this is that we can fill in when you miss one! And you can vent here too. No problem! Good luck tonight. Freedom&Light 07-12-2005, 08:45 PM Wow! I'm gone for a day and look how many people come! Yay! I love that the group is getting so big. Ugh, yesterday went into the toilet. I was totally depressed about work and ended up eating 17 of my flex points yesterday. I *knew* that's why I wanted to eat and still did it anyway. But, I just love the fact that I *can* use that many and still be OP!!!! That's so cool! So even though I binged on 2 point snacks, I still did ok. Yay me! Instead of making me more depressed- which is what binges usually do- I feel good. :) I used to be wary of FlexPoints over Winning Points- I used to do that one in the day- but now I am firmly in the FlexPoint camp. Whoo hoo!!!! Also, yay me for eating 2 point snacks instead of the Whoopie Pie my roommate has sitting on the counter. Another victory! Lemmmeeeeee introduce myself. :) I'm 26 years old. I'm a social worker in Maryland at a nursing home. To all of you in grad school- *hugs!* I remember having to do the comps- oh I dreaded that stupid test. Major sympathy coming your way. :) Oh, and izzywas- my roommate and I watched Supersize Me, and it made us crave McDonalds. LOL!!!!! :o :o :p :dizzy: But it was a good movie. I've been OP all day- I've used 17 points so far. Has anyone seen the South Beach diet meal kits- they have these great wraps. I love them. The one I had today- the deli ham and turkey- was only 4 points! And would be a lot less if we could count more than 4 fiber...LOL...it had 15 grams of fiber total! :D Plus, it's quick and tastes great. :hungry: I usually eat the ham and cheese lean pocket for breakfast- 6 points, but it will keep me from being hungry until lunch. Plus it's fast. :) So, my point break down so far for today: Breakfast: Ham and cheese lean pocket- 6 points Lunch: SB Ham and turkey wraps- 4 points SF Jello- 0 FF Pringles- 1 point water Snacks: All bran Honey and Oat bar- 2 points x 2 = 4 points total 100 cal. pack of Chips Ahoy cookies- 2 points water Total so far: 17 points :cheer: Someone asked me today if I was losing weight. :D I don't think it's really that obvious yet since I just started Saturday, but it sure felt good! :D Names: What if we combined some of them? How about something like the Summer Slimmin' Sistas? I also like having the time we started because it's what makes us all a group. :) Yay team! Quite-a-Handful 07-12-2005, 09:10 PM I am on a total eating rampage. Out of freakin' control. Saturday was weigh in. I lost 1.6 pounds. But here's what I've eaten since then. I stopped counting. Saturday: * 1/4 watermelon -- 4 points * BBQ chicken wings from KFC -- 12 points * Diet Coke -- HA! * 1/2 cheesesteak -- 10 points * Little bit of chicken Caesar salad -- 5 points * Coffee Coolata from Dunkin -- 5 points * 1/2 cheese sandwich -- 12 points * iced tea -- 2 THAT's LIKE 50 points Sunday: * 2 egg omelet -- 5 points * peppers -- 0 * blueberries - 2 * tomato juice -- 0 * Coffee with cream - 1 * Little bite of sausage -- 1 * Pasta (6) with scallops (2), shrimp (3), mushrooms (2) and spinach (2) (the seafood and veggies were sauteed in butter and olive oil) -- 15 * Angel food cake (4) with mixed fruit soaked in sugar water (4), chocolate topping (2) and whipped cream (1) -- 11 * Juicy Juice (6) OK, another 41 points Monday * Cheerios with skim milk -- 7 * Coffee with cream -- 1 * Sushi -- 6 * Salad w low-fat dressing -- 1 * WaWa apple dipper - 4 * Fatfree merengue cookies -- 4 * Tuna (2) with mayo (1) and pickles (0) on one slice bread (1) -- 4 * Grapes - 1 * Yogurt - 2 OH, AN EVEN 30 POINTS! (That's my daily limit) Tuesday -- I didn't even count * Horrible turkey burger (I could tell it was fatty dark meat) on a roll with pickles and mustard * One avocado with lime juice * Whole bag of Kettle Korn with butter * Lemonade And it's only 8:30 Are you guys going to kick me out of the group? Help me please. :moo: :ink: :stress: :bomb: :headache: :sumo: Freedom&Light 07-12-2005, 09:19 PM Ok, 1. I love the sumo guy. 2. All you can do is just restart fresh tomorrow. Stay at your target points- if you want more than that, you'll have the earn the AP. :) You can do it, and you didn't ruin anything. And we ain't kickin' you anywhere, except maybe outside to take a walk. :) I'll even let you borrow the dog if you wish. Seriously, though, forgive yourself and start over fresh tomorrow. It's a process, and we are ALL going to mess up at some point. We still love ya. :) Lizzyg 07-12-2005, 10:05 PM (((quite-a-handful))) I've had those days where it just seems like you eat sooo horribly, I had one Sunday!! I went to like 58 points. I didn't even want to count them all, but I made myself. I think that even when you go over, its soooo important to count all the points. At least for me, it helps me see where I went wrong (shredded cheese is what did me in!) and to try to avoid making the same mistakes. Exercise also helps, its a way to earn points, and for me it makes me NOT want to eat bad. I feel that if I'm busting my butt to exercise, I'm going to try not to ruin it by eating over my points. :cb: :cheer: You can do this!!! ~Liz Lizzyg 07-12-2005, 10:11 PM Ok here is what I ate for today. The WW plan I'm following is the Winning Points (I think thats what its called anyway) but where you get a range of points, instead of the flex 35 points. My range of points is 28 - 33 for my weight. Tuesday July 13, 2005 Breakfast ½ cup yogurt – 1 pt ½ serving pretzels – 1 pt 1 tbl spoon of PB – 2 pts Total – 4 pts Lunch 1 sandwich – 3 pts 1 serving pretzels – 2 pts 1 tbl spoon of PB – 2 pts ½ cup yogurt – 1 pt Total - 8 pts Dinner 2 hot dogs – 10 pts 2 buns – 4 pts 2 slices of bread – 2 pts 1-cup chili – 4.5 pts Total – 20.5 Total Points = 32.5 I went a little over what I wanted to go today, but thats ok. I'm still technically under! :) lol as long as I can NOT go into the kitchen and make a little snack. I'm just going to drink some water, because I know I'm not hungry, I just want a snack out of habit. But its my fault for not saving enough points to have a snack :) I also exercised today, but I never use my AP points. I walked almost a mile, and then did 20 mins on my DVD this morning. ~Liz andreaphilip3 07-12-2005, 10:27 PM hi ladies!! i live w 2 non diet parents its hard n i love sweets so i usually wait til weekend n then i have a small pb friendz from friendlys which uses up like 20 points but worth it. i also have a pck of ww icecream saucers 2 pts on hand for bad bad cravings. so far im ok i thought id need 1 yest and today but i didnt! still lovin the humor~:) who mentioned egg w muffin.... was it a thomas' multigrain? they rock! andreaphilip3 07-12-2005, 10:29 PM lizzyg are u aware that u get more on flex than wp? Calpurrnia 07-12-2005, 10:34 PM Quite: Listen girl...we're absolutely not kicking you out! That's what this group is here for, right? Trust me...last night I totally pigged out. I ended up going to Bruster's (ice cream place, for those blessed without the franchise, lol) and got a Reese's PB cup blast (a milkshake with the candy mixed in). Oh. My. God. Let me tell you. I couldn't even count it because they don't have Nutrition Facts posted ANYWHERE. So I decided to scrap all my Flex Points for the week and call it a loss. But you know what? I ended up getting so sick after consuming so much sugar at once that it made me realize my body was starting to reject that junk. I don't like feeling overfull, you know? We all have our mess up days (or weeks), but just because you made a few bad choices for a couple of days does not mean you've ruined yourself. You may see less of a weight loss this week than last, but you have to realize that a setback is not a total failure. I read that somewhere on this forum a few days ago. Just because we make a mistake does not mean we've completely ruined our chances to lose weight. Just work harder to hold yourself accountable (really accountable) tomorrow. You're going to do this! And we're going to make sure that you understand you have a powerful support group behind you! :grouphug: And hey, congratulations on being honest with us! You rock!! :cheer: Coming up: my Points count for the day. :) andreaphilip3 07-12-2005, 10:39 PM thanks 4 the name list!(( ))) andreaphilip3 07-12-2005, 10:40 PM btw: do u guys think w 22 ppl we need a daily thread? thread hopping is fun but can be a bit confusing....:) andreaphilip3 07-12-2005, 10:41 PM ok i figurd out it was IZZYGIRL..... thank you!! Freedom&Light 07-12-2005, 10:45 PM I thought we had just moved over here totally- right? No? Maybe a weekly thread? I don't think weekly would be too confusing. :) Quite-a-Handful 07-12-2005, 10:54 PM And we're going to make sure that you understand you have a powerful support group behind you! :grouphug: And hey, congratulations on being honest with us! You rock!! :cheer: Liz and Cal, thank you so much. Now I'm a sobbing mess! Back on track tomorrow. I promise. I might just pull out a menu from last week and vow to stick to it. No thinking about anything, just doing it. Thank you again Calpurrnia 07-12-2005, 11:12 PM Oh yeah...I thought we moved here permanently also. Okay, as promised, my daily write-up: Breakfast: Cheerios (1 c. w/ 2/3 c. skim milk): 3 pts. Total: 3 pts. Lunch: 2 grilled (2% milk) cheese sandwiches: 4 pts. Light original Ruffles (2 servings): 2 pts. Total: 6 pts. Dinner: Michalena's mac & cheese --+ 1 tbsp. Light Promise marg.: 7 pts. 2 pieces buttered bread: 3 --I use Nutrigrain Light Multigrain bread (1 pt./2 pieces of bread) + 1 tbsp. marg./slice (1 pt.) Total: 10 I have 7 pts. left, and already have plans for them: Dessert: Edy's Slow-Churned caramel swirl ice cream, 1 c.: 6 pts + 1 tbsp. Fat Free ReadiWhip: 1 pt. Total: 7 pts. Daily Total: 26 pts. I wasn't really creative with my food choices today. Mostly because I screwed up last night. I went to Bruster's and had a Reese's PB cup blast, and I have NO idea how many points it was worth. All I know was that it literally made me sick after I finished it...so, I guess that's a good sign. As in it makes me realize that I shouldn't eat it, lol. Not a fan of getting sick, and I really don't approve of it as a weight-loss method, so please don't misinterpret what I just said. :^: I meant that I think my body is adapting to this new way of eating and sabotaging myself isn't really going to be an option any more. :) And someone mentioned those delicious South Beach lunch wraps--let me just second that! They are SO great. I had the turkey and ham one as well as the turkey and bacon club wrap last week. These will be perfect for my busiest days when I go back to school in a month. They're so yummy! I was afraid they'd taste like cardboard (like a lot of that low-carb stuff out there), but no! So YUMMY! :) I'm so proud of everyone for being honest, even with the less-than ideal days! You all are so wonderful! :) :cb: Hope everyone's doing all right! Have a great evening ladies! ~Amanda Calpurrnia 07-12-2005, 11:26 PM Okay, I've tabulated the votes for now (7.12.05), and these are the votes I've got: 1. Slimmin' Sistas: 4 2. Summer '05 Chickies: 1 3. Summer Slimmin' Sistas: 1 If you haven't voted yet, please feel free to cast your vote before midnight tomorrow (7.13.05), US Central Time (it's 9:24 p.m. now). The full list of names is: 1. Sassie Lassies 2. Summer '05 Chickies 3. The Slimmin' Sistas 4. The Weight Watchin' Wonders 5. The Dieting Divas 6. The Pretty Positive Posse You can still toss in a vote for any of the names, although it looks like Slimmin' Sistas is winning. Who knows what an evening of voting will do? ;) I hope nobody minds that I've grabbed hold of the voting thing. :^: I like to help nudge the ball rolling on things, hehe. Plus I really think we should have a name! ;) Have a great evening! ~Amanda Quite-a-Handful 07-12-2005, 11:44 PM I hope nobody minds that I've grabbed hold of the voting thing. :^: I like to help nudge the ball rolling on things, hehe. Plus I really think we should have a name! Not at all, Amanda. Thank you for doing it! I had a thought. Once we have a name, maybe we can have a couple of threads with the name in them. FOr example, if we wind up with Slimmin' Sistas, we could have the Slimmin Sista General Support thread; the Slimmin Sistas Daily Points thread; the Slimmin Sistas Weigh-In thread; and maybe the Slimmin Sistas Recipe Thread, the Slimmin Sistas OT thread and the Slimmin Sistas Progress Pictures thread. Just a thought. Yikes, the 3FC will think we're trying to take over! BTW, I'm going to bed now. I won't be eating any more tonight because there is nothing left to eat within three blocks of me. My work here is done. :joker: (See the difference you chicas have made in my mood? :cp: izzysgirl 07-13-2005, 02:29 AM Oh, you busy chickies! I't after midnight here and I'm just checking in- and I'm glad I did! Good to see so much enthusiasm, positive attitude and support. To all who had a tough day today- Oh, Quite- of course we wouldn't abandon you for your- what did you call it? eating rampage? That's why we're here for each other, right? :grouphug: Ups and downs, ups and downs. Hang in there, it's a wild ride- and well worth it!- and this is just the beginning. Liz- great advice here about recording all the points even when it is terrible to look at- and about exercise- i've never looked at it that way, but I am sure to now! Oh, and about the thread hopping ordeal, let me just say again (since there still seems to be some confusion) that I am sorry- no one has posted back on that support forum since I cleared it up that we decided to stay put, so I don't think there's any real thread hopping going on right now, is there? I do think we might eventually want to move at least to the ww clubs, especially if we're going to have more than one thread going (daily points, WIs, etc) but we don't need to worry over that now. Ah, I guess I should change my title to "mover and shaker!" I'll try to apply this quality to my exercise routine from now on- lol! :cb: Ok, I had to do the banana again because it makes me giggle so much! Anyway, I've gone on so long now, I won't list my points breakdown today in too much detail- if anyone has any Qs, feel free to ask- Breakfast- 2 eggs, leftover grilled potatoes and carrots (yes, carrots, I know, and odd choice for breakfast...) and spicy hot V8- 7pts total Lunch- 2 pieces of pizza- 6pts (I know, not the healthiest choice! :) ) Dinner- two homemade softshell tacos- 10 pts Snacks- a few almonds- 1pt and a NoPudge icecream drumstick- 2pts I total up at 26, which is 2 over my target (or two flex points used) I am doing the Wendie Plan, though, so it is exactly what I had planned for today. Yay! Doesn't happen everyday... BTW, anyone else doing the Wendie Plan? Hip hip hooray to everyone for making it through a tough day! luckyduck 07-13-2005, 03:05 AM I'm in too! I'm also newish, well 6 weeks but still getting the hang of things. I managed to get my ten pound star though, woo hoo. Cheers! and...........YOU CAN DO IT! (yes, YOU!) Diva_at_40 07-13-2005, 07:58 AM Morning, All! I like the daily thread idea! Thanks so much for the ideas about writing the points on the packages, etc. I really liked the one about taking my dh to the ww meeting with me on saturday and telling on him... LOL... can you imagine? i had such an incredibly horrible day yesterday that i still have a tension headache from it...and i'm leaving in a few minutes to throw myself right back into it... honestly, my stress levels are through the roof right now, which is one of the main reasons i love that i have you guys here. thank you so much for being here - even when you don't realize you are.... okay off to work for me.... i'll check in with you later today! Quite-a-Handful 07-13-2005, 08:35 AM Starting fresh today, I hope. Calpurrnia 07-13-2005, 09:34 AM Good morning, lovely ladies! :) I hope we all made a collective flush last night of any less-than-ideal days. ;) Ah, today's a new day! Just a friendly reminder: I'm going to be tallying up the final votes at midnight tonight, so be sure you squeeze your vote in if you haven't already! :) Diva: Haha, that's the thought that went through my mind when I suggested it...all those WWs ganging up on him, glaring at him...lmao. Okay, okay, maybe that would be a bit cruel, but I still think it's a good idea to bring him. At the very least he could hear the kind of positive reinforcement you're getting from your group. :) Quite: Ah, fresh starts are always the best aren't they? After I get back from my workout, I'll type up some of my favorite low-point and ultra-delicious snack foods (because man...I'm a snacker). Good luck to everyone today! :) Time for this one to go meet up with her personal trainer and get her butt kicked! ;) ~Amanda MistySeptember 07-13-2005, 10:34 AM WELCOME LUCKY!!! Good morning all. Well I dragged the kids to my weigh in. I know it's not that HUGE of a deal, but lugging a wiggley 24 pound 11 month old while trying to convince a rambunctions two year old that indeed one can walk down a curved set of stairs (it's amazing the things we take for granted as adults, if you've never seen curved stairs I guess it can be a bit intimidating). But we made it to the church basement, then up to the scale without any major crisis LOL. I'm down 4.5 pounds. If I had remembered my giant set of keys was in my pocket I might have made it to 5 LOL. But 4.5 is more than enough for this week and I am pleased. I am still annoyed with my husband and he knows it so he is sucking up :) Here's my vote on the organization of such a large group....One person should be responsible for starting a new weekly thread or daily as we decide. A week might be good b/c if we miss a day we can back read quickly, but not so long that the thread becomes cumbersome. The person who starts the thread titles it with our name and the dates that it runs through ie) "What ever we call our sleves (7/15-7/21)". The first post should include a list of people, thier location and goal weight. Maybe any small personal tidbit we'd like to remember. Then all our posts, weigh ins, menus, vents, question can be posted under one thread so we can keep up with everyone :) I can do this as I am up at the crack of dawn most days, or if some one else perfers cool with me:) So how did you make out Stehpanie? I hear you on not going out for two years... that sounds like me :) Lizzyg- I love hotdog idea! Freedom-Great job on getting back on track after a rough day Monday:) And really great job on not eating the whoopy pie Quite- I don't know that I can add any advice to the already great words you've recieved, but know that we are all here for you!!!! Coming here and letting us know that you needed help is a huge step and will be a reminder to those of us who may get off track in the future. We can look back and think that it happens to the best of us and you will be proof that we can get back on plan:) Calpurrrnia-Great job getting the votes tabulated:) It will be great once we are officially named! Great job getting back on plan after your icecream adventure:) I am soooo thankful here in "The Settlement" we don't have a Brusters  Have fun with your trainer today:) OK LET ME interject a HUGE EW here, my daughter just came in and asked to see my shirt. I turned and said sure see it's grey, she proceeded to wipe her NOSE on it!!! It happened so fast I had no clue what she planned. Gross! So anyway I haven't eaten yet today, and I haven't planned anything out. Do you guys plan ahead? Or just do with whatcha got? Well aheva greta day all. I will check back in at naptime:) ~misty CAtoTX 07-13-2005, 11:21 AM Great job MISTY - YAH - 1. for braving taking your kids to WW and 2. for the LOSS! NICE! :smug: So, I had my weight in - i was REALLY scared - It was my b-day over the weekend and we had family in, we ate out a lot but I was careful, just didn't think I was that careful - AS I AM DOWN 2 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOOO! For dinner last night I had: Grilled Catfish Artichoke with Light Mayo and a SKinny Cow For excersize I went swimming AMANDA - yes, start over and don't beat yourself up. :p Oh.......interesting thing.......on my bday - and I saved up for this one, I wanted FRESH Peach Cobbler - this resturant here makes is fresh from scratch, so I went to eat it on my bday and I couldn't finish it and felt sick after, my DH said it was because my body wasn't used to that much sugar anymore - not sure, but has anyone experienced that????? Trying to eat bad foods that you used to eat all the time and now makes you feel sick? I know I can't even stomach the thought of a fastfood hamburgar. But.........I still love PIZZA!!!!! Have a great day everyone! ...Mara Quite-a-Handful 07-13-2005, 11:29 AM Misty and Mara! Yay! Nice losses. Congratulations. You've earned them. Mara, good for you for staying in control and enjoying your birthday meal. (Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!) I personally think that if we have to feel cheated and deprived on special occasions because of our program, then we're on more of a "diet" than a real path to healthful eating. But being able to do both is a good indicator that we're on to something we can live with. And Misty... dragging those kids to the meeting and not using it as an excuse to blow it off is exactly the kind of committment we all need to stick with this. You're both an inspiration! Thank you. :encore: Calpurrnia 07-13-2005, 11:43 AM Misty: Congratulations!!! That's a MAJOR accomplishment! *tosses confetti in the air* And nah, I usually don't make many plans for my meals unless I'm going to be out of the house. In that case, I'll pack a meal or snack or something. Like the other day, my friends and I went to a movie, so I decided to pack some low-fat/fat-free snack foods because I knew I'd start craving that popcorn, lol. Mara: Woo-hoo!! Look how close you're getting to your September goal!! You're totally gonna make it! *tosses confetti, too!* And oh yes. I got that sick feeling after I had that terrible ice cream! Lol. I told my personal trainer about it this morning and she got all excited. Lmao. My personal trainer gets really excited about my new eating habits and whenever I come to her to tell her I'm still in pain after a workout, lmao. She's funny. Okay, and as promised, I'm gonna run a short list of some of my favorite snack foods, just in case anyone else out there is a snacker like I am! ;) Chips: --Lay's Light chips (in any flavor): 1 pt. per serving (serv. size varies per flavor) -->My favorite flavors are Ruffle's Sour Cream and Cheddar and Lay's BBQ. I'm also starting to dig the original Ruffle's and the Dorito's flavors. --Fat Free Pringles (in any flavor): 1 pt. per serving -->Little tip: Pringles has now jumped on the 100 cal. packs. Do not be fooled! These packs are worth 2 pts. a piece because of the 100 cal thing. The FF Pringles have only 70-60 cals. I personally prefer the FF because they're not as salty as the other types of Pringles out there. -->My favorite flavor is Sour Cream and Onion. Cookies: --100 Cal. pack Oreos, Chips Ahoy, and Chips Deluxe (Right Bites): 2 pts. per pack. -->My absolute favorite of those is the Chips Deluxe. :) --Snackwell's Creme Sandwich Cookies: 2 pts. per serving Misc.: --100 cal. packs Cheese Nips, Ritz Snack Mix, Honey Maid Cinnamon thin crisps: 2 pts. per serving --Edy's Slow-Churned ice cream (fudge tracks): 3 pts. per serving (1/2 c.) --Edy's Slow-Churned ice cream (caramel swirl): 3 pts. per serving (1/2 c.) -->I love both flavors but fudge tracks is my favorite. And I tend to save 3-6 pts. every day so I can have either one or two servings of this ice cream. I'm a total ice cream junkie. --Fresh Express apple slices (red delicious): 1 pt. per serving -->I could live off these things! I get them pre-sliced because I'm lazy, lmao. But I'm sure you can eat a whole apple! ;) All righty, those are all my snack foods. I'm trying to teach myself to get most of my points from healthier foods, but since I'm so new to the program, I'm allowing myself a good transition period. No sense in cutting it all out cold turkey when there are so many low-fat options out there to replace my usual snack foods. :) Yeah...and typing all that out made me REALLY hungry, so...I'm gonna go eat some breakfast. Hope all of you lovely ladies are having a great day! ~Amanda izzywas 07-13-2005, 11:44 AM Good morning to all, and to all a good day!!! Okay, so I forgot to post my food for yesterday. Lori and I sat and planned the next couple of days worth of meals until 11 last night, then I had to get some zzzz's. So here it goes... Tuesday July 12, 2005 B-wheat english muffin 1p 1 egg 2p 1 slice canadian bacon 1p 1 cup light OJ 1p S-100 cal pack Chips Ahoy 2p L-3 pieces of pizza 9p blk.cherry diet rite S-FF vanilla pudding cup 2p D-Taco Salad 2cups lettuce ZERO! chopped onion & salsa ZERO! 1/2 cup taco meat 4p FF sour cream 1p FF Western Dressing 2p Baked Ranch Dorito's 2p 1/4 cup FF cheese 2p S-No Pudge Ice Cream cone 2p :D Total 31 points hippohips 07-13-2005, 11:52 AM I did something really bad today. . .but it was so good! lol It is cowboy week in my town so they have free breakfasts at different places all week long. I have ignored them because I did not want to blow the diet, and did not want to wait in line or travel or such. Today I woke up to cowboys singing and the aroma of sausages. :-o Could not resist! Got a big old free meal. Will not list the components out of respect to everyone else, but I have about 2 points left for the entire day now. :-D Diet soda and veggies for me for the rest of the day heh. Is kind of nice to feel full but not feel guilty. izzywas 07-13-2005, 11:54 AM Ooops! Misty- I do much better when I plan ahead. I usually write in my tracker everything I am going to eat the next day. Then I just check things off as I eat them. This really helps me stay OP. Calpurrnia- I LOVE the collective flush comment. I will be using that phrase in the future for sure! Diva- I hope your headache fizzles out to nothing soon! I will send you happy thoughts! :goodvibes izzysgirl- are you going to share our story about the 5 minute swimming extravaganza from yesterday?!? :flow1: I VOTE FOR THE SLIMMIN' SISTA'S!!!!! OK, I MUST do some work now, have a great day!!! ~Izzy Calpurrnia 07-13-2005, 11:55 AM One person should be responsible for starting a new weekly thread or daily as we decide. But I like the idea! ~Amanda hippohips 07-13-2005, 12:05 PM I think daily would be great so that it does not get too long or hard to follow! izzysgirl 07-13-2005, 12:24 PM Okay ladies- here's the story of the swimming incident... Lisa and I decided to go swimming yesterday afternoon. We got our suits on and headed to "the pit" (a little pond in town here- used to be a gravel pit, now has a nice little beach) Well, when we got there, the place was packed, of course, and we were terribly intimidated by the multitude of the young and the beautiful before us. What's more, a local radio station was broadcasting from there, all set up on the hill above the beach. We couldn't even find a place to park, even if we had decided to follow through and strip down in front of half the college population- Lisa turned and saw several skinny bikini-clad girls hopping out of a car and running toward the beach and said something like "Let's get OUT OF HERE!!!" So off we went in search of other free public access water... Next stop: Spring Lake Park- a little pool we hadn't been to since we were kids. Lisa pointed out that they still have the big clownhead garbage cans. She paid the $1.50 fee for both of us (thanks sweetie!) and we headed in to shower before getting into the pool. We had to leave all our stuff at the check in window, so we stripped down to the suits and Lisa took our bag to the window only to discover that the guy working there was Andy V- a guy she knew from highschool who used to have a big crush on her! Mortified, of course, both of us. We got out to the pool as fast as we could and got in the water. Funny how we could remember the clown heads but not the fact that the pool never gets deeper than, oh I think waist high? It's really a pool for kids, not adults. We still decided to make it work. We "swam" for about 3 minutes before an announcement came over the loudspeaker: "Welcome to Spring Lake Park- it is now time for the 4:00 lifegaurd break- everyone out of the pool for 15 minutes!" What?! OUT of the water? For 15 minutes?! We stood together with our stripey towels trying their best to cover us (to no avail) until Andy V came walking right over to us- Lisa turned away, mortified that he would stop- and one of us said "lets get the **** out of here!" went in and got our bag, dressed and hit the road. Oh, and we saw three people we knew on our way out to boot. Not a very successful trip, I must say. At least we were together and couldn't help but laugh the whole way home. I called another local pool ( a little more expensive, but still better than the Y) and found out times for adult lap swim so I'm hoping to do that next time. Stay tuned for my next post in which I will discuss my "exercise anxiety" (especially about going to "lap swim" and ask for any advice you can give so I can get over it and get to work! izzysgirl 07-13-2005, 12:39 PM Hi LuckyDuck- and welcome! Congrats on your star! Woo hoo!! Your signature quote made me laugh so hard I nearly peed my pants! In this case, you wouldn't have been able to see it- ha! Lori Quite-a-Handful 07-13-2005, 01:14 PM I just walked 16 city blocks! That's like a mile and a half. I know it's not much, but it's more than I've done in a while. I like knowing that even if I get no more exercise in today, that I've at least done SOMETHING. So far, so good on eating. I'm going to try to do 25 points a day through Friday, figuring I'll probably actually do 27-28. Just short of my 30 a day requirement. As of last night, I already had eaten 169 of my total points for the week (30 x 7 = 210 _ 35 flex = 245). I think I can pull this off. Here is my plan for the day: B: 1 serving Cheerios - 2 2 cups ff milk - 4 Coffee with cream - 2 L: WaWa Chicken Salad with ff dressing - 8 D: Tuna with pickles and onions - 2 Broccoli rabe sauteed in olive oil - 1 Green beans with Brummel & Brown - 1 S: Yogurt - 2 Apple with caramel dipping sauce - 3 Here's hoping. Lizzyg 07-13-2005, 07:11 PM lizzyg are u aware that u get more on flex than wp? It works out to be almost the same amount. I know alot of people like the Flex Points system better, but for me, I like the range of points. If I had to deal with calculating the extra 35 points each week, I'd end up using it all the first few days, and get frustrated. The person who starts the thread titles it with our name and the dates that it runs through ie) "What ever we call our sleves (7/15-7/21)". The first post should include a list of people, thier location and goal weight. Maybe any small personal tidbit we'd like to remember. Then all our posts, weigh ins, menus, vents, question can be posted under one thread so we can keep up with everyone I like that idea!! :) ~Liz CAtoTX 07-14-2005, 10:15 AM Helllooooooooooo Ladies! Izzy - fun story! Least you still TRIED! Hippohips - LOL don't know if I could pass that up either!!!!!!!!!! OMG Yum! but just think I'm sure before you would have eaten that PLUS PLUS PLUS all day right? Now you are *aware* - you'll be fine! Maggie - NIIIIIIIIIIIICE job on 16 blocks! I vote for daily thread - I agree gets too long to follow if it's 'weekly' Lunch yesterday: WW frozen entree Dinner Last Night: Mahi Mahi Grilled with Steamed Brocholli Breakfast today: 2 pt. WW bar and a banana We have decided to go on a Cruise next June - CAN'T WAIT - Caribbean! So I have to be BODY BEAUTIFUL by then!!! HELLLLLLLLO!!!!!!!!!! ......Have a great day!.........Mara hippohips 07-14-2005, 12:48 PM Thanks, CAtoTX. Yeah I definitely would have had the big breakfast and then something later. Would have been mad at myself and felt like a hog and then ate more because what did it matter? I love that we can budget foods. . .the things that used to make me feel so piggish can not make me feel good in a way. Obviously, I am heading toward healthier choices in the long run, but it is nice to know if I want ice cream I can have it and if I want pizza I can have it et cetera. I did make it through the day without using any other points. Funny, was not hungry. . .I think my mind got through to my stomach that that was a lot of food and that I should not need anymore. :-D Calpurrnia 07-14-2005, 02:23 PM Hey everyone, I just want to make sure we all made it through the thread-hop. The rest of our chats will take place in this area: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61395 Hope to see all of you there! :) ~Amanda susiec123 07-14-2005, 10:43 PM I've been good today.
