Good Morning! I hope everyone is doing well. Its raining and dark and foreboding here. I am tempted to crawl back in bed!

I have no new challenges to give...but here are a few standbys:

1. Get in three to four days of exercise and post it!

2. Drink your water!

3. Take some 'me' time, plan your menus, try a new recipe. Stir it up some to keep it from getting old.

I hope you all have the BEST week ever! You are each wonderful, and I am thankful for your friendship and support! :grouphug:

Good morning ladies.

Back from vacation. Boy I missed you guys and boy did I miss eating right. There is nothing great about eating bad all the time. I couldn't wait to get home and eat salad.
We had a great time. Weather wasn't that great but still managed to get some sun and relax. Only one major problem. Going down there last Friday, we got to Orlando/Sanford for what we thought was a 45 minutes layover. Ended up being 11 hours and then another hour on a hot airplane. Talk about 300 irrate people. I plan to be writing a nasty letter expecting some type of compensation.

Only you ladies can appreciate this. My SIL stated he had gained 6 pounds on vacation. I had not attempted that scale. Faced the music this morning. Up 20 pounds. Now how is that possible? We worked out and walked miles every day. Of course I didn't take any water pills for 10 days and we pretty much ate like pigs. I don't think I was ever hungry when it was time to eat. So I am hoping lots of it is water retention. So today our whole house is back on plan. My fridge is stocked and the veggies and fruits cut up and set aside in single serving bags. Turkey breast baked. Ready to go. My DH's birthday is tomorrow so we took him to dinner last night as our last supper.

I think I will journal this time to see if it helps.

Need to catch up here so I better get started. Hope to check back later. it is good to be back.

Good morning to all you great SBers in SB land. Hope your weekend was great.
Thanks, Monet, for faithfully starting the board this week. I see you started very early this morning. Hope the weather turns out sunny by the end of the day.

We have a beautiful appearing day, semi-clear, with just a few gray clouds. I have not ventured out, so don't know how hot it is. The paper says it will be 90° today, which, coupled with the humidity, will be hot.

My weight? I lost 1/2 pound last week. That is a fair assessment after I tried leaning this way and that on my scale. It is a balance beam scale, and I could have chalked up a one pound loss because the bar was not quite touching the top with moving the weight down 1 pound. But for the bar to be right in the middle it was only 1/2 pound. So that is what I will record, and I will try to be happy with that. I got in 13500 steps yesterday, and worked like a dog in my butterfly garden. We finally got almost all the weeds out and put in several wheelbarrow loads of mulch. In all we filled up five 42 gallon bags with weeds. So my legs and back are still aching. I think I will put off my walking until this evening. Otherwise I would be just trudging around my route.

I guess Fillise is on her vacation now.

Hope anybody in LA, Miss, ALA, will not have too many bad effects from the hurricane. Wouldn't it be great if that were the only one to pester us this year. Monet, is that rain you are getting coming from the hurricane?

BOB--How are you doing? Did you get much rain? Wind? Everything was pretty quiet over here, except for gray skies. No rain to speak of yesterday. :) Who is UT picking up for the 12th games? UF has booked some crummy games, eg. Hawaii and Fla. International. Heck, I didn't know that Fla. International even HAD a football team. I was hoping we would play someone like Michigan or Notre Dame.

Well, I am working out at my workout place for its last week in existance, unless something special happened over the weekend. I leave in 15 minutes, so need to get ready.

Jackie--We were posting at the same time. Boy, I wish I had known you were at the S/O airport. It is a small thing, isn't it. But not far from me. I could have popped up there and visited you. Did you go on a cruise?
I hope the journaling works for you. That is what I am doing, now. I am not crazy about writing down everything I eat at every meal but it is what has worked for me in the past. I weigh and measure, too, and have a really good scale that measures in ounces and grams. It goes up to about 4 pounds. Since you put the weight on so fast, maybe it will come off just as fast. That's what happened for me with the 6 pounds I gained while in France and Italy. So, good luck to you.

JACK!! Welcome back! We missed you too! Hey, I think its time to throw that scale out and get a new one! 20 pounds in one week sounds impossible! Do you FEEL that bloated? I hope you had a good relaxing time on vacation. Its just great to have you back!

GATOR: Yes, the rain is from Dennis. Its windy too. I need to go look and see where they are saying he is headed. Where is Tech when you need her?

Good morning...

What a wet day. The sun is trying to shine thru...which is a nice sight after all that rain. My yard feels like a big mud field, I will probably sink when I walk in there...lol. The weeds are really happy but I know the plants are getting enough water for a while. Our weather forecast is rain, rain and more rain for the rest of the week. Sigh..

Yesterday, dh and I finally moved Jess over to her new room across the hall. I helped her packed her stuff, threw away some broken toys/rubbish and organized them. Her rooms looks nice and she loves it. She slept there for the first time yesterday. We are not putting her bed against the wall anymore so I was worried she might fall off the bed at night with only one rail on one side but she did well. I did put a pillow and her big stuffed dog, Barkley on the other side where it has no rail. She now wants me to take away the other bedrail as well since is 4 years old now..LOL. Something about being 4 has given her a big boost of confidence. Lately, all she told me was, I can do this because I am 4 now...lol. All the reasons are because she is 4 now...lol. I really missed her not being next door to my room :(

Nothing much planned for today since I know we will have rain on and off but I really feel like getting out of the house a bit. I will see how fierce the rain will be before I decide where to go...lol. Oh yes, not to forget, I have some cleaning to do as well :(

Menu for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 1 scrambled egg with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach and 1 cup of milk.

Snack : Fruit salad or cantelope.

Lunch : Not exactly sure...something simple like ham and cheese sandwich, soymilk and salad.

Snack : Slice of cantelope and nuts.

Dinner : I am thinking of making this recipe I saw on Food network. I don't remember the exact recipe though but I think this is how I am going to make it. Anchovies, can tuna, lots of chopped garlic, white wine, some capers, cherry tomatoes, maybe even some fresh basil, tossed with some spaghetti. Serve with mixed green salad. I am making dinner because dh is off today :)

Snack : 1 ww bread with peanut butter. I am usually hungry at night these days.

Some replies :

MONET : Good morning!! Thanks for starting the board. You are very much appreciated not just for being such a good moderator but also a wonderful friend that I have get to know. I am definitely trying a new recipe (well, didn't have the exact recipe but can remember bits and pieces of it and I am too lazy to get the recipe from Food Network) at dinner today. Will let you all know how it turns out.

JACK : Welcome back!! I have missed you! I know what you mean about wanting to come home and eat salad. I feel the same way, it doesn't feel good to not eat well. To me, my conscience is bugging me more than my body. I feel like I have not done a good job taking care of my body which I have been blessed with. 20 lbs?? Wow, that does sound a lot but I do not believe that anyone can put on 20 lbs of solid fats at such short time so I am pretty sure most of it is from water retention etc. However, 20 lbs is still way too much for retaining water. Are you sure your scale was reliable?

GATOR : Congrats on your 1/2 lbs loss. WTG! I hate those darn weeds and I have given up on them since I got pregnant...lol. My back yard island is sufferring right now. The weeds are taking over and they are building a jungle back there...lol. I will ask dh to go back there to at least spray and then weed whack them. I might pull some big ones out after the rain has gone. Will see. Good day to you.

Alright, better get going. Jess wants me to play with her in her new room. Chat with you all later.

Good Monday morning:

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was good, and relaxing. I went and worked out on Sat. a.m. and then got my massage; it felt great. Yesterday, the only thing I left the house for was to grocery shop.

I think I am going to have to call my doctor; I've been having a weird symptom....as if I haven't had enough medical stuff to worry about. When I lay down to go to sleep at night, I can feel my heart fluttering really fast, my heartrate seems to pick up, and then I can feel the pulse throughout my entire body. I have had the fluttering before at night, but never the intense pulsing sensation. I feels like there is a large dog laying on my bed panting. It is really quite scary! It is also ironic since my DH is at a heart doctor being checked out this morning. He had a dizzy spell not too long ago, and had two chest pains in the past few months. His uncle (dad's brother) died in his 40's of a heart attack. My DH is 42. His uncle lived a wild lifestyle, which I am sure contributed. My DH eats good, and has always exercised; he is in excellent shape and his bloodwork always comes back super! I am praying that all is fine.

On the health front.....Lane woke up with a fever of 103, and has a tummy ache. IT IS HER BIRTHDAY TODAY! We were supposed to go to swim lessons and then to Build-A-Bear Workshop today. I am going to cancel swim lessons, but try to take her to the workshop still if she feels up to it. She was really disappointed when I told her we might not be able to go. I finished her Dora cake last night, and it turned out pretty good; she is happy with it...and that is that matters! She keeps asking me when Daddy will be home and when we will have dinner, so she can eat her cake and open presents  . She'll probably end up throwing it up.

Not much else to report yet today.

Monet: Thanks for your dedication to the board! We appreciate all you do. Stay in out of that rain.

Jack: Welcome back. I felt the same way when we returned from vacation. I thought I'd use vacation as an excuse to overeat, or eat the wrong foods. I was so ready to get back and have a good meal. OH MY GOSH....11 HOURS! How terrible! I hope you drop that weight soon; I am sure a majority of it is water. Happy Birthday to your DH!

Gator: I am sure your buttefly garden is so beautiful. Brittany received a little butterfly garden as a gift. We sent off for the larvae (5), and wathed as they spun their cocoons, and watched them emerge into butterflies; it was amazing to watch the transformation. It was fun to watch them fly away when we released them. They still come by to say hello from time to time. She just finished up her ladybug garden (same concept). Nature is an amazing thing.

Well, I gotta go get some BF.

I'll check in later!

Hello all--I'm checking in from the coast of North Carolina today. My DN and I leave for NYC on Thursday.

It looks like the FLA coast got the worst of Dennis. I've been checking online newspapers and am not seeing bad reports of damage in ALA. I know we got a lot of rain yesterday and it looks like some od the last bands are still affecting eastern AL and western GA this morning. I called my house last night and got the answering machine, so I know the power was still on. I haven't heard from any of my friends yet.

Eating has been good. I had legal snacks for the car on the way up and then I do fine here.

Pancho--Sorry to hear about your heart flutters. It certainly isn't anything to mess around with! I hope Lane feels better so she can enjoy her birthday!

Keng--I'm glad that Jess did well in her new room. I love the "I'm 4 now." I just love that age, they really start to have conversations with you. You'll have Jr. in the room next to yours before too long!

Monet--Thanks for getting the board started and all the challenges! I hope y'all dry out soon.

Gator--I bet the butterfly garden looks great. My DN and I are going to the Bronx Zoo this weekend. They are opening their redone butterfly center this weekend. I'm looking forward to it. Have you ever been to the butterfly center at Calloway Gardens?

Jackie--Welcome Home! I'm guessing water--I know if I don't take my water pills I blow up like a balloon. Eat the protein and veggies and push the water and I'm sure most of it will come right off. Do prepared to spend some major time in the bathroom though!:o

I've got a work call coming in in a few minutes and then I'm going to try to spend the afternoon at the beach.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Susan

PANCHO : Happy Birthday to Lane today. I am sorry she has a fever today but I hope the fever subside pretty soon and that she gets to at least enjoy some part of her birthday like cake and presents :) I am glad you are calling your dr...your experience at night sounds really scary. Keep us posted on your dr appointment and your dh as well. {{{{hugs}}}

FILLISE : I am sure glad you are not in AL right now. I haven't heard much about damages in Al either, hope all is well back home. I really miss my "little" girl and she wants to go up way too fast. Sigh..

Got to check on Jess now. She is awfully quiet :)

Good Monday morning all.... Its lightly raining here and I love it. We need it so bad. So its a happy day here in Missouri. My birthday was this week end and I was way out of control. My step daughter sent me a 2 lb. box of See's candies. I just knew it was trouble. And of course I've ate quite a few pieces of it. Now I'm bagging the rest up to take to someone else. My DIL and son sent me a box of South Beach Diet stuff and 70% chocolate bars. She was thinking it was stuff I couldn't get here so I've got lots of goodies to start out the week on. So today is another day and I'm back OP.

Monet- Howdy gal, thanks for starting the board. I love reading your posts, they're always so interesting and inspireing...

Jack-K- Yea! Glad to see you're home. Oh know 20 lbs. has to be water. Or your scale is crazy....

Gatorgal- Congrads on the 1/2 loss, you're always an inspiration.

Julia- Your little girl sounds so adorable. 4 is such a darling age... Hope your new recipe turns out good.

Pancho- Oh boy I hope you call the doctor. That sure doesn't sound good at all. I would be worried too.

Fillise- Have a wonderful time...

Everyone have a great day......

Fillise--
Yes, we've been several times to the butterfly center at Callaway. It's beautiful, isn't it! They have a new butterfly center in Gainesville at the UF campus. I like it as well as the one at Callaway because they have other exhibits that are better than the ones at Callaway--larval stages, other natural history exhibits, butterfly testing, etc.

Fillise--I have a question. We will be leaving the end of next week for a 10 day to visit my DS and BIL for about 4 days and then 4 days at a B & B south of Knoxville, near Cades Cove, Tenn. I know that it will be virtually impossible to be as stringent with my eating as I have been here at home. One thing--I won't be carrying my food journal to the table at my DS's house! I won't be weighing and measuring. I will try to guess as to the amount I am eating, but won't have much control as to how it is cooked. How do you combat these problems when counting the points on WW? How can I stay "on plan" even more than just avoiding sugar and white flour? What works for you? Any suggestions? I don't know how many points you are on with WW, but I would be at about 22 to 20, which is not a lot!! I generally rotate my weeks regarding "points" so that my body doesn't get too set on a certain amount of energy input. I am hoping that this will help alleviate some of the problem with plateaus, but know that I still will go through these stalls.

Pancho--I call those feelings "butterflies flying around in my chest." Get it checked out, but it is probably nothing much. Just your heart "catching up" on its rhythm, and your feeling it. You are probably very much aware of your body, and notice that "rhythm catch-up." Anyway, get it checked out. Happy birthday to your little girl. Hope she feels better.

Monet: Thanks, as always, for kick starting the board!! You rock, baby!! ;) And...regarding Dennis...last I heard, there wasn't much in the way of weather systems to steer him out of the neighborhood, so you may be stuck with tropical rain for a day or two until he decides he's bored with Georgia and Alabama. My mom would love remnants of Dennis to come our way...her lawn is absolute straw. Cindy's leftovers helped over the weekend and things are looking a tiny bit green in her yard, but MY yard has seven large 150-year-old maple trees in it and it's always shady and takes a really long draught to fry our grass. We usually have the opposite problem...when my mom's lawn is green and lush, mine is usually flooded and sloppy. Anyhow...as I said...as Dennis sits on GA and AL, he'll continue to loose strength as far as wind goes, but the rain will probably continue until a cold front comes in and kicks him out to sea. :(

Jack: So, you aren't going to come up here, then, and kick my butt for being really, really bad the last week, are you. :dizzy: Hot dogs on white buns, macaroni salad made by mom (in other words, illegal pasta), French pastries, 5-layer dip with corn chips...on the up-side, though, I had my very first side dish of home-grown green beans last night with dinner!! Won't mention the strawberry shortcake I had for dessert with highly illegal biscuits. Good news is the scale is only up 3. I'm sure your weight is water related. It has to be. My test to see if I'm retaining is to press my finger into the middle of my shins and see if I make a dent. I used to entertain myself by doing this to my mom while she watched TV and had her feet on the footstool. I think I mentioned this once before on the boards and reasoned that this was before we had cable  and I had to be more creative with my means of entertainment. Anyhow...lets hope that nasty 20 pound gain comes down quickly!! I'm sure it will...

Gator:  Whatever you gotta do to get the scale to read the way you want it to...and gardening is a bonafide means of exercise that people don't give enough credit to, imho!! And isn't mulch a wonderful thing? I'm sorry your work out place is closing...but maybe a change will be good for you..getting used to a new place to work out?

Julia: My DS does a lot of things 'because he's 4', too. I ask him sometimes how he got so smart and his answer is 'because I'm 4'...as if to say, 'what? you mean you don't know?' I love this age...it's so fun!! And then they become pre-teens :^:

Nat: DEFINITELY go see that doctor. It could be as simple as the baby is laying on a main artery or some dumb thing, making it hard for your blood to pump through or something, but definitely go see the doctor...that's what they're there for. AND, my husband has been having the same symptoms as your DH. The doctor prescribed glasses for the dizzy spells, he's had an MRI on his head and they only found a sinus infection and his blood pressure was barely over the normal mark, so he's been on meds for that, although last check at his doctor has him at 120/80 and it doesn't get better than that!! But he's still dizzy from time to time...he takes a sudafed and it goes away. And the chest pains are mostly attributed to gas and heartburn type things. Don't know exactly what's up with YOUR dh, but I just wanted to give you a small sigh of relief that my hubby's similar symptoms weren't heart related and maybe your hubby's symptoms will not be heart related, as well...that's scary stuff!! I hope Lane is feeling better soon, too...what a crappy way to start your birthday!! How old is she?

Fillise: I'm glad your house appears to be intact!! You're right, the answering machine picking up is a great sign!! Enjoy NYC!! We'll be expecting pictures!!

Okay...so our French Festival weekend was fun. The parade was great and I didn't do much craft shopping this year...the stuff is cute, but it's so expensive!! I just took the kids to make sand art bottles and called it a day. The fireworks over the river were beautiful. Yesterday we took the boat out and parked it in Sand Bay and went swimming and I guess my 6 spf suntan lotion wasn't sufficient because I fried in the sun. I was going to take the kids back to Sand Bay today (it's where my mom and dad live...and it where my hubby and I were in my avatar) to go swimming, but I think we all need to give our skin a rest today. :)

Okay...I'm off to go make a legal lunch. I think I'll have Tilapia and something else with it. I had two BF sausages for BF and some strawberries. Maybe I'll have the fish and a smoothie or something...we'll see.

Okay...talk to you guys soon...Kris

They ran from the storm with the rig to Sabine Pass, TX. Just wanted to tell everyone hi and am still on track with my eating.... :D Missed breakfast this morning because I stayed up so late last nite washing and drying clothes and then had to get out in the garden and pick butterbeans off my vines....its kinda cool out but I know it will heat up the rest of the day. Now I have to shell them but I enjoy shelling beans so it will be a welcome thing.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!!!! :balloons: :grouphug:

Hey everyone! I had a weird morning...not sure where it went. I took a little nap, and the next thing I knew it was like 11! I had to take James to work, and then I went on to Harry's Whole Foods to get milk and way too much other stuff. I got some unusual good oils- like macadamia nut oil and walnut oil, and a few packages of their organic ground beef. I found that they carry Carlson's Cod Liver oil, so I got a bottle of the capsules to take. Then I hit the olive bar and got too many olives. I snacked on too many of them on the way home! :) Amazingly, I did not forget what I went there for...milk! :cheer:

The rain has kind of stopped...its still overcast but much lighter than it was. Occasionally, I see a bit of sunshine. I will be happy when the rain ends, and the sun comes out for good again. They are predicting intermitten showers for the next day or two, so I am trying to be patient.

My knitting is coming along nicely. I was making this jewel toned blanket for myself, but decided to give it to a lady at church who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Her prognosis is good, but even so, I am enjoying applying my new knitting tactic to the piece: pray for the person you are making it for with each row. On the baby blanket its been fun praying for the mom and the baby... I can see how the piece for a cancer patient will inspire me to pray for her more.

PANCHO: Happy Birthday to Lane! I hope and pray she recovers enough to enjoy what all you have planned for her special day. I agree with everyone that it is good to get those palpatations checked out. They could be nothing serious, but its never good to ignore something if you are not sure. My husband's father had a heart attack fairly young, so he has been really good about keeping up on his heart health. His cholesterol is high, but he had one of those new tests that checks the arteries for plaque, and his came back totally clean. The doctor STILL tried to talk him into Lipitor but he refuses to take it, and eats really well and exercises regularly instead. I bet they will find all is well with your hubby. :)

TONI: I hope you had a nice birthday! Shame on your step daughter for sending you candy! I think I could resist any kind but Fannie May! :) All because I grew up in Chicago, I guess. Jump right back on the wagon now!

THUNDER: I am go glad your hubby will be home soon, and they were able to stay safe during the storm! Good for you staying on plan!

TECH: Sounds like you did not do as badly as you might have...but no more excuses! And hey, you were almost right! Dennis wobbled to the east and hit at Navarre instead of Mobile. Maybe you ought to go back into weather ....

FILLISE: Yeah, rub it in! You are going to the beach while I am hoping to find an ark....

TEENSY: <<hug>>

Ok, where are Heartmom, Country... you are missed! Check in!

Well we are getting some side affects from Dennis. (MY DH's name too). We really need the rain. My grass is worse than straw. Some parts of the state have water restraints and can't use any. I think they are now predicting flooding. No in between.

Eating today has been good. All legal.

bf: 1 egg with cheese, coffee.
snack, cauliflower and dip
lunch: large salad with mushrooms, cheese, cabbage, strawberries.
Dinner, grilled cod if DH gets gas for the grill. Veggies. If not ??

Gator, no we went to the Domican Republic. I sure wish I had known you were close too. Going out (International Flights) I guess the airport was small and yucky. Coming back the area was nicer and larger and the food cost less. Go figure.

Monet, Yes I am bloated, plus none of my clothes fit. But by Tuesday of last week, DH's shorts were too tight too. I have spent the day in the potty so hopefully the scale will be waaaay down tomorrow. What a sweet thing for you to make for your friend. What a lovely idea.

Julia, I bet Jess was excited about her new room. I thought my scale was reliable. Who knows. At least you have a good reason to be gaining and not eating right. How have you been feeling?

Nat, I'm so sorry Lane is sick on her birthday. I know she is disappointed. You really can't enjoy it feeling yucky. Hopefully it is a 24 hr bug and no one else catches it. Are you injesting caffeine? That could make your heart race. I wouldn't fool with it, get it checked out. I'm sure DH is fine to. Let us know

Susan, glad to hear you made it safe and sound. Be careful in NYC. With all this stuff in London, you have to be watchfull. Enjoy though.

Toni, Happy belated birthday. Sorry I missed it. Glad you got your SB foods. Let me know ifyou need anything else and I will send it to you.

Tech, if I came up there and kicked your butt, you would be able to pulverise mine. One week of too much food and alcohol. It was all free, what can I say. Now let's both get back on track and get going.

Teensy, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I know it is so hard for you. Prayers for all of you.

Sonya, I never knew of anyone growing their own butterbeans. Man I love those things.

Heading home. Talk to you tomorrow

Sonya: I don't have butter beans, but soon I hope to have enough green beans to sit on my porch with my paring knife and cut up a pile like I used to do with my gramma once upon a moon. I tell ya...there is a lot to be said for the quiet life of a farmer and his wife...

Monet: You are one of the nicest people I know with your knitting...how nice. I love to crochet afghans for my nieces and nephews that are all going to college and staying on campus. And in Rochester, a walk across campus in about...say, February, is really cold and I tell them, when you get back to your room to do your homework, put this afghan on and think of it as a nice warm hug from Aunt Kris. They kind of look at me like I've lost it, but I DID see my niece's laundry basket that she'd just washed at my brother's house to take to her new apartment for the summer in Ithaca and right on top was my afghan I made for her when she went off to college and it looked well used...which is all I needed to know :smug:

Jack: Okay, I promise to use my blender for legal smoothies and NO MORE PINA COLADAS! :s: My DH and I party hard when the kids go to Gramma's for a night or two...its good for our marriage  We had a water advisory or restraint or something like that, too. I don't know why because the water is taken straight out of the St. Lawrence River...it's not like the Great Lakes are going to dry up...anyhow...I claimed ignorance and washed my car, anyway. And watered my impatience...they wilt FAST in the heat and dryness. It's supposed to be in the 90's all week here. One extreme to the other around here!! We're HOPING for Dennis to make an appearance and give us some relief and rain.

Teensy:  :grouphug: That about says it all...hello and hugs to you.

So far, so good today. For Lunch I passed on the Tilapia and had leftover chicken from last night's dinner with some strawberries and grapes. For a snack I just finished some plain yogurt with frozen blueberries, walnuts and some splenda. I think I finished off a 1 liter bottle of water, but I suspect my DD helped me drink it when I wasn't looking. I'm peeing like a fountain today, so I think that tells me I'm topped off with water, but will continue to put it down just for good measure ;)

Okay...off to wait for hubby to get home. I've been cleaning like a maniac today...both to clean the house and to take my mind off of bad things in the house. I still have two French Pastries in the house and I almost force fed two of them to my kids (I had four earlier)...here I am: "Eat these pastries NOW or I'm going to be really mad!!" I wish my mom would have threatened me with pastries when I was little

Hi all:

We just got back from Build-A-Bear, and Lane seems to be feeling a bit better. I still cancelled swim lessons though....she wasn't up to that.

My DH is FINE! He is better than fine. His cholesterol was under 130, and his blood pressure was 117/something. They checked his arteries and all are clear. They told him he was going to break the equipment because he was in such fine health  . They asked if he was a vegetarian...which he is not. But, he is eating so much healthier since I switched to SB. The doctor said he probably strained a muscle or something. He said to keep up what he is doing, and he will never have to see a heart doctor.

I called my doctor, and they are getting me in tomorrow a.m. They wanted to get me in today, but it was Lane's birthday and she is not feeling good. I will have to take both girls with me tomorrow though...wish me luck.

Jack: I am glad you are getting some much needed rain. I don't drink coffee, maybe drink a diet soda 3x a week, and I do drink a glass or two of iced tea per day, on some days. I do drink green tea at night sometimes, but it is decaf. I'm not sure what it is from. I hope to find out soon.

Monet: I am glad your body got the nap it needed. Enjoy that much needed rain. I am glad the blanket is coming along so nicely. I cannot believe a doctor wanted to put Tom on medication when he is fine....Good for Tom not taking it!

Tech: First of all...I am not pregnant, Thank heavens  ! I love my kids, but two is fine for me. So, that makes it even more troublesome. I can't imagine something like that coming up out of the blue, and being normal. Delaney is turning 3 today. I am glad the festival wasn't rained out, and that you and the kids enjoyed yourselves.

Gator: Thanks so much for the reassurance. It's not so much the flutters that worries me, as it is feeling my pulse so intensely through the rest of my body. It feels like the bed is moving.

Toni: Get rid of that candy! We passed a See's in the mall today, and Britt wanted to stop for a piece of candy. I reminded her that we will be having cake tonite, so I got out of that one ;) . Now, you can get rid of that and start on your Sobe stuff. I hope your birthday was enjoyable! Enjoy the rain.

Fillise: Glad your machine was on. I hope all is well when you return home!

Hello to Ken, Thunder, Teensy, and anyone else I forgot.

Britt wants to go decorate the kitchen for Lane's party.

Have a great evening!

Weather update: Okay, guys...Tropical Depression #5 is out there about 1000 miles east of the Windward Islands...that arc of islands that bowes out into the Atlantic Ocean. This is soon to become Tropical Storm Emily. What a busy season! I remember when Andrew came in in the early 90's...the first named storm in September!! Now this will be the fifth named storm and it's not even the middle of July!! Holy Toledo...don't forget...a cheap house is for sale right next door to me!! As long as you don't mind the cold, that is!!

Okay...off to be with the family...I'll keep my eyes peeled on the tropics for you!!

Nat: You know...you and Julia have the little girls and SHE'S the one with one in the oven. Sorry, didn't mean to give you undue stress. :dizzy:

Hi Melf...hope your arm/shoulder is feeling better soon!!

Hey! Hope all of you who live with me in the south have not gotten waterlogged! At least not yet, it looks like we will be getting on and off rain for a while :rain:
I just have an idea. I wanted to see what ya'll think. If we change weigh in to Mondays, how about having "wonderful Wednesday" where we could share one wanderful thing from our week. Be it the weather, something our kids have done, etc. Something like "counting our blessings" If this is too corny, don't hesitate to say so. I promise I will not get my feelings hurt. Just an idea!

Dinner tonight was beef and asparagus rolls, with sliced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. The boys had theirs on soba noodles. I passed on the noodles.
I also had a snack of a handful of shelled pistacios. I made chicken salad tonight for the guys lunches, and of course took a taste...now I feel ready to pop! I am finding less food is more satisfying since I have been taking steps to eat within the guidelines of Rosedales program. We shall see what the scale says...

So far, it looks like we will be switching weigh in to Mondays.. anyone got any ideas for what to call it? Metal Monster Mondays?

THIN: Oh, my GOSH, is that CORNY! I LOVE IT! :) Its a great idea so thank you for bringing it up. Counting our blessings, or finding something positive is a very important part of loving ourselves, and thus feeling motivated to take care of ourselves. Are you waterlogged yet? Its almost amusing how it will clear off for 30 minutes, then get all stormy again. I will be glad when this is over!

JACK: I am wondering if you take fish oil? Its supposed to help the joints, and I remember years ago taking a few from a friend and feeling incredible improvement in my aching joints in just hours. I figured it was a fluke. Well, part of this program I am experimenting with requires certain supplements. So, I dutifully started looking for the fish oil they recommended..Carlson's Cod Liver Oil (lemon flavored). I found it today at Whole Foods, but opted to get the capsules instead of the liquid. I took one at lunch, and one with dinner. Frankly I am SHOCKED at how much better my joints are feeling already! I have not had any knee pain since lunch! Its freaky. So, I thought I would pass the info on to you. The idea is getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids, and the fish oil is the best source. The Carlson's has been recommended by Mercola, the doctor who wrote the book I am reading, and obviously they are top quality. You might find they help your joints...

Off to knit!

Did much better with my eating today. Also got more done around the house after I took something for the pain. Cleaned out 2 desk drawers of old mail, etc. Did lots of shredding. Washed 2 loads of clothes.

Picked figs with DH late afternoon & even cooked supper of boiled chicken breast & sweet/sour rice (Lipton Sides) counted 5 points on WW but it was something quick & easy to do. added fresh cukes & salad greens. Not bad even though it wasn't 100% SB legal.

I noticed something that really made me smile today as I read the posts. I remember when I was on the board before that talking about our faith was shall I say a little "taboo"??? I see allot more easy sharing now & it's really nice.

Monet and Jackie--I take fish oil capsules. Right now they are at the other end of the house from where I am, and I don't want to look up how much I take. But I take 4 large capsules a day. I got mine at the advice of my holistic doctor, who recommended them for heart health, not joint health. The only thing she was insistant about was my taking ones that had been tested to not contain any mercury, as large oily fish now so often contain mercury. I take MSM and glucosamine for joints.

Good idea for a new name for Wednesdays, Thin. Mondays, hmmm. Monday Mondays, Marvelous Mondays, Measurement Mondays, Weigh-in Mondays, Melting Away Mondays, and Monet's suggestion of Metal Monster Mondays.

Ellen

GATOR: That is why Mercola recommends the Carlson's brand...no mercury, or other toxic heavy metals. I will probably start with two to three a day, but I am amazed at how much just two have improved my joints! The book does talk about how beneficial it is for heart health as well. Too bad it isn't a magic pill for metabolism too, huh?

MELF: I am glad you are getting around a bit, but don't over do it! Laundry sounds like a horrible thing to try and do with one arm! Why, its horrible enough with TWO arms! :s: Are you combining WW and SB? How is that going for you? Fillise loves it. I probably could do that now, but just WW is not a good alternative for me. I figured out that last time I did it that these little potato cakes were one point, and if I cooked them with spray instead of oil, they were still one point. Well, I could eat my weight in them, and they wreak havoc on my insulin levels and, well, you get the idea...

Good Tuesday morning Ladies.

Dennis is hitting us hard today. But it is much needed so I won't complain (too much).

Dinner ended up being the grilled fish. It was yummy. Cauliflower and squash and zuchinni and a salad. Everyone was starving since it was their first day back on their diets.

I am so tired today. I woke up 3 times last night to potty and then 3 times with leg cramps. Don't know what brought those on. usually it is DH that gets them. I always have to get up and rub his calf/leg for him. He never even knew I was wallering around in the bed in pain. Go figure.

Well the scale was down 10 pounds today. I was hoping for more. Hope some more comes off this week. That is amazing to me how someone can retain that much water.

Kris, I enjoy some of that party hardy too but after this vacationI will stick to wine and vodka and skip those sugar ladden drinks.

Nat, Sure glad to here DH is fine and such a fine speciman of a man. Let us know what you find out today. glad Lane is better and got to enjoy some of here birthday.

Melf, welcome back. It's so good to see you back on here. Glad your surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery. Take it easy but stay with us.

Thin, I'm always up for counting my blessings. I am truly blessed.

Monet, yes, I take fish oil. We just started it a few weeks ago and did not take it on vacation, but started back on it today. Also taking it for brain power. Since my mind is gone, I'm trying anything to help out.

Gator, I will have to check out the fish oil we bought for the mercury. I only take 1 a day though.

Got to get busy here. Be back later.

Jack: I'm usually not much of a drinker. But 4th of July weekend, my DD decided to stay overnight at my mom's house with my sister's family and my DH said, "We should make some margueritas..." And I said, "And Pina Coladas, too!" So, we had fun. They make such a fuss about alcohol in school that when I have a simple glass of wine after a big meal, my dd looks at me like I'm a big jerk. So, we wait till she leaves and have our fun. :s:

Last night for dinner we had grilled chicken breast and salad. I add orange slices to my salad...it's really good!! For a snack I had a handful of walnut pieces and some cheese and triscuits. This officially bags my first legal day in a while!!

I'm down one pound to 160.

Today for Breakfast I had 1/2 cup of oatmeal with crushed walnuts and frozen blueberries and half a grapefruit, which isn't the best grapefruit I've had, that's for sure. Not very sweet and kinda dry. I also had two breakfast sausages and coffee with Splenda and half n half. So, that was a big breakfast and I don't anticipate feeling like snacking for a while at least. For lunch I'll have the Tilapia I was going to have yesterday.

Tropical Depression 5 is now officially Tropical Storm Emily. Sorry to say, that the trough in the atlantic, north of Emily, is going to keep her on a due westward track for at least a couple days. Usually storms that start that far out take their NW arc early and miss the US, but this one will not be allowed to float north for a while and the computer models track her as going mostly like Dennis did. So far, anyway. Will keep you updated as I hear more...

Monet--Sounds like Mercola is a smart doctor. The capsules I am taking are a combination of EPA and DHA essential fatty acids from cold water fish. I take a total of 2400 mg per day of the fish oil; 4 capsules of 600 mg each. Monet, do you take MSM or glucosamine at all? That is really great for joint health. My sister is a pharmacist and worked for a "natural" independent pharmacist, and she recommended that especially, as did my holistic dr. also.

Got my 2 mile walk in today. I have been a little "spotty" the last few days. It rained yesterday late afternoon/evening when I was gonna walk, so that got trashed. Only got about 4000 steps in yesterday. So far today I have 6300. I have a bit of grocery shopping to do, and will also go to sign up at a new gym, about 15 minutes from here. The members of the old gym are having fits because it was the perfect place to work out. The machines were top of the line and everyone that went was serious about working out, and not into the babe/leotard thing. So several of the members are looking for a place to relocate the gym and they want to buy the machines and open up as a "key club" type place, with independent personal trainers. The old owner is going through a mid-life crisis and is getting out of the business altogether. This will all take a month or so to get in place, so I will work out at the new gym until that happens. Then may or may not switch back, IF the old gym gets off the ground.

I start my French language classes again tonight, 2 X per week. Will have to get back into the groove of thinking more in French.

Well, gotta go. Everyone have a great day.

Wow what a great board this is this week. I loved reading all the posts since I posted yesterday. Theres far to many to reply to. I should have come back yeasterday evening. Dinner was good. We had a turkey breast tenderloin and a nice salad. I struggled through the evening wanting some of the See's candy. I can't take it to my sister's till Friday so this week is going to be **** trying to stay away from it. And going through sugar withdrawels. I'll just have to take each hour as it comes and deal with it. We're still getting the wonderful rain. What a blessing it is!!! Its been steadily coming down since yesterday. I finally got over and got a permanet yesterday at the beauty shop, woopie I needed it sooooo bad. And I'm sure I look so much better. Guess I'd better go get some breakfast and start the day off. Oh yea the scale saids I'm up four lbs. I sure hated to see that.....

Good morning...

It is a beautiful sunny day outside, a little muggy but fine. I have quite a bit of housework to do...starting with ironing clothes, then cleaning the house and then cook lunch but first I want to come here first. I won't be able to do replies just yet but will get to them later. Anyway, here's my menu for today :

Breakfast : An egg and cheese grilled sandwich on ww bread, 1 cup of soymilk
and 1 slice of cantelope.

Snack : Fruit salad.

Lunch : Baked salmon in ginger-dressing, roasted marinated broccoli and
basmati/wild rice pilaf.

Snack : Cantelope and nuts.

Dinner : Not exactly sure at this moment. Thinking of stuffed ww pita bread
with sliced meatballs, cheese, spinach, onions and tomatoes. I ran out of
salad so not sure what other veggies to have but need more veggies.

Snack : If I am really hungry, I will have a ww bread with peanut butter. If I
am not, a cup of soymilk.

Got to go...Jess wants to use the computer...lol. She is very much into games and other online programs, computer softwares available these day. I think she is turning into a computer freak...lol. Got to start working....chat with you guys later. Good day everyone!

Hey, guys. I know I have been MIA. I've been too ashamed to come back and post. I went on a binge for SEVERAL days. I'm paying for it now. I'm at an astounding weight. Yesterday, I was at a whopping 182!! Yes, you heard right. I NEVER thought I would have seen those #'s again. I'm wearing elastic because nothing fits. Yesterday I had a good workout(was drenched) and I watched what I ate and drank gobs of water. Today I'm at 177. I know I'm holding onto some mega fluid because TOM is also due today or tomorrow. Plus, I just got finished with a glass of water(16 oz) and still weigh what I weighed this morning. So I'm hoping the scale will be 175 or 174 tomorrow. I have set a goal that I intend to keep. Enough is enough. I was at my friend's house a couple days ago and was watching a video of us from last November. I had on a pair of pants that I probably couldn't even get up over my butt now. That's definetly enough incentive there. I plan on being back to 159-160(my previous low) by August 1st. I know that is alot of weight from where I am now, but like I said, I'm holding onto several fluid pounds as well. If I exercise good, 5 days a week, and stay as legal as possible(NO MORE BINGES), I know I can do this. I have it in me, it's just buried deep, lol. Time to get digging! Well, that was a big confession for me. Right now, I need to get off this computer and do a workout!

Jack-k- Hang in there, I know those 20 came on to quick to be just fat. I had put on around 12 this week myself. Drink lots of water and get back to eating healthy and it will come off.

Country- I showed up, now where are u hiding?

Toni--Why don't you store those candies in something you can't get at during the day. For example, if your DH takes a car to work then put the candies in his car and they won't even be around the house during the day. Or perhaps over at a kind neighbor's house. You certainly wouldn't go over there to raid the candy box.

Heart--Keep hanging in there kiddo. I notice that you were only 20 pounds from your goal weight. What is it about reaching goal that is too scary for you to face? Just a thought, and if you consider that question and answer it honestly, maybe you can deal with what is eating you (get it? eating you, not you eating it LOL :) ) and then get back on the plan that enabled you to drop 118 pounds. For example: I had a friend that deep inside did not want to reach her goal. She was assaulted sexually as a young woman and subconsciously decided to eat a lot and wear baggy clothes so no man would ever look at her--her coping mechanism to deal with the assault. When she finally decided to get healthy and lose the weight, she had to deal with her fears of being attractive the closer she got to goal. She had to finally deal with the real issue in a new and constructive way, and that enabled her to quit sabotaging herself. Heart, we are all behind you, and don't want you to sabotage your journey to reach that 140. So, you go, girl. :balloons:

Just got in from Discover Mills. Its a huge outlet mall, and is built in an oval that is about 7/8 of a mile around. I walked it twice, only stopping after the first complete round, to shop in a few stores. I got a new bra with a 50% off coupon, a bacon rack for the microwave, and a book by Max Lucado at the Bible Outlet. It was a pleasant alternative to walking outside in the muggy temperatures. I am going to put on my bathing suit and go jump in the pool in a minute, but I might eat some lunch first. Its amazing to me how my constant hunger has diminished since I have been incorporating the Rosedale ideas into my diet. Breakfast was chicken salad and a cucumber, with a cup of espresso with cream. I may have a salad for lunch...

HEART: I am glad to see you back. Please don't set huge goals for yourself. You don't want to set yourself up to fail. Set smaller ones, and when you surpass them, it will be an encouragement. You might want to see if you can get the Rosedale Diet from your library. He addresses the constant battle to keep from bingeing and what all he said was interesting. Maybe you would find something useful in it. All I know is that I have not touched anything I was not supposed to have since Saturday, when I had a bit of ww pizza crust, and it was several days before that when I had finally left off the grains and started eating according to some of his points. I am going to be very interested in what the scale says tomorrow.

Ok, gotta go find some lunch!

It is still :rain: here. I have layed out pork chops for supper. Poor Dh will have to grill out in the rain and on his birthday too. :(

I have been starving today. Don't know why.

BF: strawberries with a squirt of SF/lf whipped cream. Cereal bar.
Snack: cheese, celery (3 pcs) and pb.
Lunch, turkey sandwich on ww lc bread, carrotts/dip, sf pudding and a peach.
Snack, handful of cashews.
Dinner, pork chops, lima beans, broccoli.

Haven't got back in to exercising yet. Since it is raining, maybe I will get to that tonight.

Tech, nothing wrong with sneaking your drinks. I get such a kick out of your weather reports.

Gator, Wow a pharmacist in the family. I believe they know more than doctors. I'm going to check out my fish oil tonight.

Toni, ask your DH to hide the candy until Friday. That way you can't eat it unless you find it. Hang in there, those 4 lbs will come off.

Julia, thank you for the idea of the meatball pita breads. My family will love those.

Laurie, don't ever be too embarrassed to come here and come clean. You know what happens when you don't? You keep eating and getting bigger and more embarrassed. This is a support board and we have lots of it here so come on and lets do it together.

Monet, good idea on walking the mall. Wish I could come jump in your pool.

Thunder, I bet you are one excited puppy for your DH coming home. I know I would be. 35 days is too long for me. WTG on your eating. You are doing great.

Bob, where are you?

Country???????

have a great evening everyone!

Evening everyone; Its still raining here and I'm enjoying the break from the heat. I can't believe I wore a sweatshirt today. My eating has been good. B-two eggs and 3 link sausages, juice L- Bob's spicy black bean soup S-little package south beach ww crackers and cheese D- stuffed flounder, salad and cantaloupe. So far the See's candy is still in the box! LOL ! I did have three little pieces of sugar free candy.

Julia- Hope you got all your work done and Jessica had a good time on the computer.

Heartmom- Thinking lots about you. We seem to be in the same boat with our eating. We can do it girl!!! One day at a time. I to have a hard time coming here when I'm not OP.

Gatorgal- You are right I need to get those candies from in front of my face. I think I'll bag them up and put them away till Friday. At least they won't be sitting on the counter staring at me.

Monet- Its so good you're trying something new and letting us know how it works for you. I would love to read the book. I may have to go to ebay and look for it.

Thunder- Your butter beans sound so good. Nice and fresh from the garden. Do you freeze any? What else is there in your garden. Its good to see you posting again.

Jack-K- I'm hungry today too. I thought maybe this rain has something to do with it. Makes me want comfort food.

Time to go start dinner. Have a great evening all...

Hello everyone:

Lane still is not feeling well. She has been sleeping off and on today, and still has a fever. I try not to give her any Tylenol or Motrin during the day; I want the fever to fight whatever infection she has. She has only eaten a handful of dry cereal today and some milk, and water. She is not even hungry....poor little thing. She slept for about an hour up until dinnertime last night and ate about 4 bites of pizza and a few bites of cake. She didn't even seem too thrilled when opening gifts. She asked me when she went to bed when her birthday would be over. I told her that when she woke up that it would be over, but that she would still be 3 years old, and that she will have her new toys to play with still. She asked me if she could still eat her cake too  . We still have Dora's upper body to eat.

I went to the doctor today, and she wants me to go in for an ultrasound of the abdomen and heart. She also wants me to have a stress test done. I am currently wearing a heart monitor that I have to wear 24/7, until they feel they have enough info. They did a urine and blood test, and we will just wait now and see what happens. I had to take the girls with me, and the appt. was nealy 90 minutes total; they were real troopers. I now have to schedule all these other appts. and hope that DH can stay with the girls when I go. What a hassle.

I do have my Mom's Night Out tomorrow night, and am looking forward to that.

I went to Costco today, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they are carrying the Kashi granola bars. All of them have 6g or sugar or less. They have 4g fiber per bar, and I think 5g of protein. They taste good too. You should try them, if you like granola bars.

Melf: Good to see you. It sounds like you have been doing a lot; don't push yourself. I hope you get some relief from your arm pain soon.

Gator: I take fish oil as well, with the EPA and DHA. My Dh just started taking it as well. I was giving the kids some liquid fish oil and ran out, and haven't been to Whole Foods in awhile to replenish it. Can you pay month to month at the new gym so you have the option to leave when you want?

Jack: A lot of times, leg cramps are due to lack of calcium. I'm not sure if you take a supplement, but a really good one is called BioCalth. I hope you get a better night's sleep.

Tech: I pretty much stopped drinking anything when Britt was born 7 years ago. I will every once in awhile have a drink, but not too often. I have been drinking one of those Smirnoff Ice every weekend lately, but I can just pour that over ice in a cup and it looks like water (ha). I just have to make sure the kids don't decide to taste my "water." I like to get a margarita when I go out for Mexican food sometimes. It hits the spot in the summer.

Toni: Maybe if you put the box of candy in a sealed manilla envelope or tape up the box until Friday, you won't be tempted. Just get it out of sight and make it difficult to get to...and you can send any of the California Brittle to me  ! I am glad you were able to get your perm; I am sure your head feels so much better.

Heart: So sorry to hear about your binge eating; that's gotta be tough. I so hope you are able to meet your goal by August 1st, but that is only 3 weeks away, so don't get upset if you don't....just consider any progress..progress, and keep working toward that ultimate goal. I hope you feel better coming clean. Remember when you are stressed, there are so many other things you can do other than turning to food. (((((HUGS))))).

Thunder: You need to save today's post and re-read it anytime you feel like going off plan or eating that dessert full of sugar. If we could all just remember how good and healthy we feel when we are eating this way, we would never stray. I am glad you DH is getting his eating and exercise in check to help with his diabetes...does he do SB too?

Howdy to Ken, Tech, BOB, Teensy, Country, and anyone else I forgot.

Have a great OP day.

HERE I AM!!!!

WOE IS BOB....I think I'm getting that respiratory thing again...DANGIT..I can't afford to miss anymore work! I had some AUGMENTIN left over from when Kate had that reaction to it, so I've started taking that and I'll call the DOC tomorrow for a call in script! Couldn be RED TIDE as we've not been able to get rid of that in a year!

KRIS...I'm sure that GATOR will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that ANDREW came in August....What kind of beans do you grow....I LOVE GREEN BEANS!!

JACKIE...so glad y'all are back safe and sound and that you had a good time!
20lbs????? I find that so hard to believe...I think it's water weight....happened to me one time before I left for a cruise...was in Miami and all of the sudden, my ankle or should I say KANKLES...were as big as me!
Had to buy new sneaks before getting on the boat! I hope you're not in the beginning stages of RESTLESS LEG... mine started with cramps...

THUNDER..we're in for a storm tonight...there are even tornados here and there. Makes the Shuttle ify for take off...and if that's not bad enough, there's another DANG storm 2300 miles and moving at a fast pace!

I'll be back, got to go fix supper....I'll get to everyone else after we eat.

Boy, what a muggy day. The afternoon thunderstorm is finally here. Jess and I were outside doing some weeds pulling earlier, boy, I sweat like a pig. It is like once I started to sweat, the "sweat" pipe just won't close...lol. Maybe, that's why I don't retain much water because I sweat like a pig...LOL. Now, I feel hungry but I want to do few replies before dinner.

TONI : Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry I forgot to wish you over the weekend although I remembered it when Monet posted your birthday at the beginning of the week. I hope you had a great birthday celebration anyway.

TECH : Yep, I guess 4 is the key to everything...LOL. I guess I can understand how big that "4" milestone is if I am a young child...lol. Please don't remind me about pre-teens or teens yet, I am not ready for it!!! lol.

TEENSY : More {{{hugs}}} coming your way.

THUNDERWOMEN : I have not try butterbeans but have heard it here several times here. I saw the frozen ones at the store. How do you like to cook yours?

JACK : I have been feeling good and I am so thankful. I feel the delivery date is getting closer and I am not ready yet...lol. I am glad the 10 lbs is off now...I am sure more to come off soon.

PANCHO : Glad to know your dh is fit as a fiddle. What a peace of mind it must be for you and your dh. Hope all your tests came back good as well :) Please give Lane some hugs and kisses for me...poor girl, hope she feels better soon.

MELF : Hello to you as well. Take it easy now :)

TECH : Hope Emily is kinder to everyone in her path, at least the name sounds "mild"...lol. Will look forward for more of your predictions :) Yes, I am the one with the bun in the oven and I am not ready for the bun to be fully bake yet...LOL.

THIN : What a wonderful idea for Wed. I love positive heart to heart talk. I love your idea!

Will continue my replies later after jess is asleep. She is rushing me to make her dinner. Looks like we will be having ww pita bread stuffed with meatballs etc.

Just got in from Linens And Things. Laura and I went over to look around. I now have over 14,000 steps for the day!

PANCHO: Me! You forgot me! :( I wish I lived closer...I would be happy to take care of the girls while you go to doctor's appointments. Is there no one in your Mom's club who would help out?

KENG: Did you get a torrential downpour this afternoon? We did...just as we were pulling up to the store! Thankfully it ended and we were able to scramble into the store without floating away! I love butter beans, but remember to count them as a starch. They are basically baby lima beans. Tom was raised on a farm and they always grew them....

BOB: I got green beans galore in my garden! And 'maters! Lots and lots of maters! And a stack of cucumbers I picked this morning that is bigger than the cuke section of my Publix....

THUNDER: You are a better woman than I am...I don't think I could stand for my husband to be gone so long! When the kids were little, he did travel a good bit, but was always home on the weekends.

TONI: I think the book is pretty interesting, and I plan to purchase a copy for my personal library. Just his advice on supplements is worth the cost of the book to me.

TECH: I had a good laugh at you having to hide drinking from your kid. Isn't it usually the other way around? The kids hide it from the parents?

JACK: I wish you could jump in my pool too...It would be so much fun to have some of the board buddies close...

Me, again. Got thru with supper about 30 minutes ago. I overate, had a fully-loaded cheeseburger on legal bread, legal coleslaw, and then went back and ate an additional patty with legal ketchup. At least I stayed on plan. TOM just arrived and that puts a damper on things. No telling what the scale will say tomorrow. I hope that I will be better with my portions tomorrow. MONET- I'll have to check on that Rosedale diet. Gator- there's no telling what the underlying issue is with me. I know that everytime I get close to getting back to 160, I've sabotaged it. I really want to get to goal, but fail every time. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I get a little embarrassed when people comment about me looking nice/good or whatever. I also get embarrassed when the opposite sex notices me. Most women like the attention and my friend says that I'm crazy, that if she had lost alot of weight and was noticed, she would be flaunting it. I wonder what the deal is with that? I wonder if I'm just used to being the fat girl for so many years and regardless of what my appearance is now, I will always see myself as the fat girl? Hmmm, maybe I'm getting somewhere with that. Or is that just totally stupid? Alright, I need to run..

GatorGal

Heart--Keep asking yourself questions like that. Maybe your sabotage has something to do with relationships. Maybe, as you mentioned, with self-identity. There are some other things that I can think of, but don't want to list them because it is really your assignment to do the work to figure it out. Bottom line, there is something that you get from binging or thwarting your reaching your goal. Something that is more important to you than reaching your goal is. It probably will be as hard to figure out what that is than it is to actually lose the weight that you want to lose. Never forget that we are all behind you and want you to succeed. :grouphug:

Pancho--At the new gym one must buy work-out sessions by groups of 20. So it will take me about 2 1/2 months to use 20 sessions. If someplace I like better, or that is closer opens up by then, then I can switch. Hope your little girl is better tomorrow. Hope they don't find anything much wrong with you, either. :)

I expect that this will be the last post before we head to NYC. I just wanted to say hello to everyone and to answer Gator's question.

Gator--WW has a program they call "core" which is essentiall SB with a kick. On core you eat the "approved foods" until you are satisfied. Anything that is legal on WW is ok on core with the exception that it is a tad more tolerant of sugar and a tad less tolerant of fat than SB. But you also get 35 "flex points" for the week to be used on anything at all. So why don't you try eating SB and then what is not SB legal, count its points and try to stay under 35 for the week. For example, A chick-fil-a sandwich is 8 or 9 points. A medium order of FF runs about 12. There is a formula for computing points that can be found by googling "Weight Watchers Points formula." You can also go to DWLZ.com to get points values for foods at many restaurants. If you know anyone that has done WW in the last couple of years, you might be able to talk them into giving you an old points book (or if you know someone currently a member you might give them the $ to buy you a points book at a meeting--I think they are somewhere between $5.00 and $10.00). If you want to try to count daily points, the points range is as follows:

150 lbs and under, 20 pts.
151-175, 22pts
175-200,24 pts
200-225,26 pts
225-250, 28pts
250-275, 30 pts
275-300 31 pts
Over 300 32pts.

In addition you get the 35flex points that can be used anyway you want them. Somep people use the extra 5 points everyday, others save them up for eating out or splurges. Some people don't eat them at all. I very rarely eat all 35 of my flex points, but I always use some portion of them.

You can also earn activity points that can be eaten on the day you earn them. Walking at a moderate pace for 20-30 minutes will likely earn 2-3 pts.

I hope this helps. I took the time to do this because I also thought it might help Heartmom on the weekends. It has helped me a lot to have a way to eat things that are not SB legal from time to time without feeling like I've blown it. It was the "I've blown it, so I might as well eat all the sugar and carbs I can possibly get down before I go back OP", that led to my worst binges. Now when I eat a non-SB item I just record the points and move on. Psychologically, this has made a huge difference for me!

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes on the trip. BOB, I promise we will be careful on the subway!!!!!

I'll talk to you when I get back, and,of course, post pictures!

Good Morning! I need to leave in a little bit to do the worship guides. We are doing them early this week, because the admin is going out of town on Thursday. Fine with me...

It looks like the rain has left us finally. The sky is blue and the sun is shining. I need to go pick the garden again. And blueberries. Unfortunately, I will not get to that before I leave!

Its Wednesday and probably the last WIW EVER! :s: We will switch to Monday next week. I did hop on the metal monster, and did not like what I saw. I was up a few pounds, but I don't remember where I was exactly that last time I officially weighed, so  I guess I will wait until Monday. I have high hopes for this program, but its not computing to the scale yet. :(

I really over did it yesterday. I had the swelly belly last night (from the hysterectomy) and that has not bothered me in weeks and weeks! Only when I seriously over do it..like that wedding... Who would have thunk walking and shopping for three hours was stressful??

Its almost time for breakfast, and then I need to go, so I better get off here and get dressed! Can't go to the church office in my nightgown, now can I???

FILLISE: Have fun! Be careful!

HEART: Perhaps it might help if you kept a journal of how you feel emotionally when you eat. Weigh Down Workshop has you do that, and its very helpful. It also recommends reading a Psalm or other chapter in your Bible when you feel the urge to cheat. Maybe you need to make Phil. 4:13 your mantra....

I will check in later!

Just a quickie for WIW...I'm down to 159. My Fourth of July/French Festival madness is just about past me. Now lets see if I can make it to 155.

I almost had a bowl of raisin bran for breakfast because...well..it's Raisin Bran...it's supposed to be healthy!! I suppose it is if you're not trying to cut sugar, so I read the ingredients after seeing WW was involved...but sugar and high fructose corn syrup was, as well...so I put it down. I knew it wasn't legal, but almost cracked and reasoned my way into a bowl...but I'll be having my usual breakfast sausages and strawberries after my shower. Raisin Bran would have been sooo much easier... :(

Okay...off to the showers...Shelley has her clarinet lesson at 10am and if I don't get started now, I'll be in a panic state in an hour... ;)

Just another quickie.....I am sorry that I really don't have a lot of time right now. Berries and fruits are quickly ripening. I am taking care of my cherries and raspberries now. Picking huckleberries on Friday. Will try and get back here later today.

Happy Last WIW

I'm glad we will switch to Monday's. Maybe the scale will be better then. Didn't lose anymore water. We ended up going for pizza for DH's birthday. We shared a salad and got the no crust pizza. Still all the meat and cheese didn't help the scale.

Had a dr appt today with the RA dr. She was concerned about the water gain and wants me to have an echo-cardigram. She said if the heart valves aren't working correctly, it would make me hold water. Chemo also can afect the heart so guess it is good to get checked out. She also took 7 viles of blood. Going to check my thyroid, muscle enzymes, diabetes, anemeia, and other things. It sure is **** getting old.

bf: cereal bar,
snack: strawberries,
Lunch: Turkey sandwich (lc ww bread), carrots and dip, peach, pudding
Dinner, porkchops, veggies

Toni, Hope you have a great WIW.

Nat, sorry to hear Lane is still feeling poorly. hope it clears up soon. Yikes, that is a lot of tests. Sure hope they don't find anything. I have to have an echo-cardigram next week too.

Bob, about time you got back on here. I sure hope you are not getting sick again. I already have restless leg syndrome. Had it for years. It really bothered me on the plane. It comes and goes. I need to analyze my habits when it's gone and comes to see if there is something causing it. Take care of yourself.

Julia, you think you sweat now, just wait for hot flashes to kick in. I get all ready in the morning and bam! I'm sweating like a pig.

Monet, send me some of those maters! No one has brough any in yet. We don't plant any either. You are inspiring me to get back on the pedometer wearing. Switching programs can cause a wt gain. Hang in there. If you like it, it will work eventually.

Laurie, I think Gator is on to something. You need to take some "me" time and figure this out. With Boogie's problems and another child and a DH, you are probably used to putting them first. You are important and need to fix you. You have come a long way and look fabulous so don't blow it now.

Gator, Are you a phsycarist or just very insightful. You seem to always give good professional advise.

Susan, have a great time and be careful.

Tech, WTG passing up that raisen bran.

Teensy, wow you have your own produce market. How is your puppy doing?

Got to get busy here. Almost lunch time.

I am back from the church office.

Breakfast was a cup of espresso with cream, and a dab of agave, and two eggs poached. Lunch was a large salad with avocado, and plenty of cukes, and some chicken salad. I also had a handful of pistachios. Steps today are not very impressive so far...only 2,350. I really ought to get out and move some, but its so hot and muggy...going to the mailbox at the end of the driveway is a challenge. Plus, I am very sleepy, and having a hard time staying awake. I may have to take a nap.

JACK: Thanks for the encouragement...on paper, this program makes a lot of sense to me, but I am going to be awfully disappointed if it doesn't work. I would love to send you some of my maters! Send me your address..... The rain caused a lot of the cherry tomatoes to split, which is unfortunate. There is less to give, and I do enjoy giving them out!

TECH: Its not just the high fructose corn syrup and sugar...raisins are NOT legal! Good for you in passing it up! There are plenty of legal cereals if you like cold cereal. And believe it or not, Life Cereal is ALMOST legal...so in a pinch, it would be a not too bad choice. I am not eating grains right now, so no cereal for me! :(

Ok, off to take that nap. These yawns are splitting my face!

Just a quick post. I ate good yesterday but at 7:30pm in the middle of choir practice I took a virus. I made it thru the next 30 min. Danielle had it Monday evening and all day yesterday. Ashley had it Sunday and Monday. I usually don't get them but this one is a doozy. Haven't wanted to look at food smell food or eat food. It lasts about 36 hours. I can't believe this with my hubby coming home after awhile. I told him to bring a can of Lysol when he came... I will be MIA next week as we are going on vacation. I am sticking to my eating even then. Hope everyone has a great day!

kengjw-butterbeans are wonderful especially if they are fresh. I put them on the stove with a pot of water and cook them until they are done. Usually I brown some bacon and put in them along with a little onion. And season them with a little salt and pepper...I love to eat them with salsa. You cook the bacon and onion in the pot before you put the butterbeans in tho. Then you add the butterbeans and water.

Monet-Know what you mean about the garden theres never enough hours in the day to get it all done. The blueberries are in at my cousins and I have only gotten to pick one gallon..I wanted to freeze at least 4....Hopefully I will get 3 more before they end.

Bob-So glad your ok. Why can't the storms go somewhere else....You all didn't need anymore damage after last years doozy. Have a great day and take care of yourself.

Well still not feeling so good so I'm going to run. Everyone have a great day!!! :grouphug: :balloons:

GUESS WHO THE BOSS SENT HOME?????

It's official...I've got the crud AGAIN!!!!
I've started a Zpac in hopes that I caught it soon enough. I CAN'T get sick like I was last fall!!!

JACKIE...do you take anthing for your restless leg on a regular basis? I do, I take SINEMET. My Doc told me when he diagnosed me that it's better to take it all the time and have it in your system than wait for an attack.

MONET...GAWD I wish I were closer...Id be there in a heartbeat to raid your garden!

SUSAN...BE CAREFUL and HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

KRIS...I played the Clarinet all through my Jr High & High School days...

COLLEEN..now I'm torn on whether to come to your garden or MONET'S!!!

LAURIE..I can relate to you completely. I often wonder...is it meant for me to be this size? I would be happy if I could just get under 200lbs...I actually would be totally satisfied...

Happy WIW. I was at 122# today, so I still need to get down 2 to be where I like to be, but won't complain since I've had birthday cake the past few days.

I think WIM will make everyone more accountable over the weekends.

I did not get a good night's sleep. Lane was up several times, just not feeling well. This monitor did not go off at all yesterday during the day, but went off plenty last night when I was trying to sleep. I don't know why when it is the most peaceful time of the day for me, and I am relaxing and trying to sleep that my heart is so out of rhythym. It only holds three readings at a time, and they want you to call after each one, although you can wait until you have all three, if you have to or if you are not near a phone. When I did call, they told me that it did not warrant a call to the doctor. I'm not sure what does. I called my doctor's office today to find out if they received the reports and to find out what they say. They will call me later today or tomorrow. It has not gone off yet today since I have been up and around. I haven't tried to exercise with it on yet. Today was my early workout morning, but I was too tired to get up and go. We'll see what that reveals.

I just took the kids to Blockbuster to rent a few videos, and then we went to the libray and checked out about 15 books. We'll be busy awhile.

BOB: I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Take is easy today and get lots of rest, and drink lots of fluids.

Ken: I hope you and Jess are having a good day. When do you go to weekly doctor appts?

Monet: Way to go on those steps! Sorry the hysterectomy site is giving you problems. I hope it feels better soon. There are a few moms in the club that I trust, but most are so busy with other activities this summer or have their hands full with all their kids out of school for the summer. I will be able to make appts. when Britt is in school soon, and maybe some when Lane is in preschool; that makes it so much easier. Hang in there; maybe you will see a loss on Monday.

Gator: Sounds like a good way to operate a gym, that way you don't get stuck in any long-term contracts....been there, done that!

Fillise: Have a safe trip.

Tech: Congrats on being below 160. There are a lot of legal cereals out there; you should go find a few to have on hand when you feel like having a bowl of cereal.

Teensy: Hi! I am envious of all the fruit!!

Jack: Best of luck with the echo; I sure hope all comes back alright there. I'll pray for you.

Thunder: Sorry to hear you are sick; I hope you are feeling back to normal before your vacation next week. Gets some rest and drink lots of fluids.

Gotta run!

I'll check in later!

PHEW!! That was close with the Raisin Bran  I don't know what I was thinking...but I ended up with three sausage links and about five strawberries. For lunch I had a South Beach meal replacement bar. I was in Watertown and took the kids to McDonalds and got a diet soda to wash down the low carb bar. It had about 15 or so sugar alcohols in it, so I'll probably be gassy later for it :^: .

Emily is taking such a westwardly course, the track has her maybe even hitting the Yukatan peninsula in Mexico. Does anyone remember Mitch? That would be nice for the US, but not so nice for Mexico. I'm sure the people in Pensacola could care less about Mexico as long as Emily doesn't make a visit to the Florida panhandle!! Enough is enough!! Emily also seems to be loosing strength as the barometric pressure is back up over 1000 mbs. I'm sure Emily will strengthen, but probably not as soon as the experts initially thought. I'll keep you posted...'specially if Emily takes a right turn to the right and heads for the US!!

BOB...you're right...Andrew was in August that year. I was studying it in September when I took the course in college. :dizzy:

Good afternoon,

The loud thunder and heavy rain just came and went...lol. It still looks cloudy outside but at least it is quiet.

I didn't do much today except cooking...from pancakes in the morning and then braised ribs for lunch. I tried to clean the bathroom but is only half way done. Anyway...all in all, I had a great day.

Menu for today :

Breakfast : 2 medium ww pancakes, scrambled eggs and 1 slice of cantelope.

Snack : I slice of cantelope.

Lunch : Braised pork ribs with veggies (carrots, onions, celery, tomatoes and okra), green beans and basmati rice.

Snack : Fruit salad and nuts.

Dinner : Leftovers from yesterday and today's lunch : Ribs, marinated broccoli, green beans and basmati/wild rice pilaf.

Some replies :

HEART : As you have probably know that by now that this board is always opening its arm to support, hug, care for you especially more during your tough times so don't be ashamed to come here when you feel that you have screwed up. Like Gator said, keep asking yourself questions and also try different approaches until you find one that works. If relying on your own willpower hasn't work, try different tactics. I really have no ideas what tactics at this point but when I think of something, I will definitely let you know. {{{hugs}}}

THUNDER : I love salmon too especially the farm raised salmon which I know is not as good as the wild ones. I just love it baked or broiled just enough but not cook to death. A good marinate of sauce is a must :) Oh, I love it grill too...yum! Oh my...hopethe virus leaves your family soon. Feel better soon.

JACK : I really love the ww pita stuffed with meatballs and veggies. It is one of my "quick" and simple meal plan especially when I don't know what to eat or don't feel like cooking. I bought this meatballs (5 grams of carbs for 3 hugh meatballs) from Costco and absolutely love it. All I had to do was microwave the meatballs and sliced them and add any condiments I want. Pretty stuffed by the time I finished my pita.

BOB : Oh no....not again!! I hope you bounce back quickly this time. {{{hugs}}} Keep loading yourself with lots of good food. That will help build up your immune system for the long run.

MONET : Yes, we had some heavy rain yesterday afternoon and today as well. It didn't last long though. Need to visit Linen and Things as well....for curtains in Jess's room. Take it easy....don't overdo yourself ok?

FILLISE : Have a safe trip!!

TECH : Congrats on losing those lbs today. 155 lbs is close...you can do it!

TEENSY : I remember how busy you were during berries picking time last year :) You family is lucky...lots of yummy baked goods, jam and jellies. Yum!

JACK : Sounds like you have a good dr who is thorough and wants to make sure you are doing well. Tests are no fun but would be a big relief after that. {{{hugs}}} My family dr is just like that. He is too cautious sometimes but I am thankful that he is because I always feel better after after he sent me to do all kind of tests....lol.

PANCHO : Sorry you had a rough night. Hope today will be better. I wonder if Lane has any infection? Jess usually feels good even when she was sicked unless she has some sort of infection inside. Hope she feels better soon. I am seeing my midwives every 3 weeks now ...probably until 36 weeks. After that, it might be every week but I am not exactly sure until I see them on the coming Monday for my 33 weeks appointment. Yikes, getting much closer!

TONI : Sorry you are having an bad day. Hope tomorrow will be better. We are here for you. {{{hugs}}}

That's all for now. Will be back later.

Thanks, SUSAN. You are the greatest! Am looking forward to meeting you in person one of these days up there in Auburn. And..you are a political conservative to boot. How great can you get. :) I'll try your plan during the week we are gone. I might throw a box of Shredded Wheat N' Bran in the car to help me with breakfasts. At the B & B the breakfasts are always yummy, but fat and sugar laden feasts.

Monet--Congratulations on all the steps. It is surprising how many steps one can get pretty easily. If I put my pedometer on first thing in the morning and make sure I get my 2 mile walk early when it is still not roaring hot, and then pay attention to staying active during the day, then I usually end up with more than 10000 steps. It's kind of motivating to keep up the walking every day when I see those high numbers.
Re. the Rosedale plan, I am wondering if the reason SB works is not that it is some "magic" formula of foods, but just plain common sense: eat higher fiber, slow and steady release of energy foods, enough protein foods, and keep the portions small. Remember the discussion in the SB book about making sure the food stayed in the center portion of the plate, not on the part out of the center flat area. Basically, one would get fewer calories and healthier foods, which would lead to weight loss any day. Just another way of looking at the fact that a decrease of 3500 calories, either through what you eat or how you exercise, will cause a loss of 1 pound. For those of us with "issues" (thyroid, Hashimoto's, etc. etc.) perhaps the BMR is just lower than most "normal" people, which just makes creating that deficit of 3500 Kcals that much harder. Just some thoughts as you work with the Rosedale program. l personally was hoping that the Rosedale was gonna be the "magic pill" but see that it hasn't kicked in yet for you. For me, I have finally reached the point where I had to tell myself that I had been fooling myself for too long, and had nothing to blame my failure to lose on my own poor choices and my laziness. It is HARD WORK to lose weight, and it is easier to just fool myself than to do that hard work. But after coming back from our vacation, where we ate like kings, I confessed to myself that I was the reason for my failure, and then kicked my butt into gear. I have been writing down everything I eat in a small daily calendar, and I pay attention to eating those wholesome foods that SB talks about. I very occasionally have a "treat" (lo carb potato for example) but record it faithfully and include it into my "points" or general idea of how many calories I am eating. This is working right now, ver-r-r-r-y slowly, but it IS working. I just hate the plateaus, as we all do, but am mad enough at myself that I will stick it out through the plateaus. Susan has been my inspiration, because she has faced her plateaus and gotten through them. Anyway, enough of this yakking. Just hope the Rosedale plan starts working for you and that Monday will bring good news.

Pancho--At night is when I also notice my "butterflies" in my chest. My dr. told me years ago when I told him about that feeling, that I would notice it at night because that was when I was quiet enough to feel it. He also said that some people are more aware of what was happening in their body and that they would notice that funny feeling, whereas other people would not. So, again, I hope it is NOTHING.!!!

I'm gonna go ahead and post this and finish this post with another one. It is thundering and lightening, and I don't want to lose this post.

Jackie--Wow! 7 vials of blood. Like a vampire! With all those tests they should have you totally analyzed. Congratulations on the 10 pounds loss and good luck for those other 10. I agree with the others: 20 pounds is too much for just simple gain; it has to be water or something. I gained 6 pounds in Europe and we felt like stuffed sausages during our stay in Italy at the cooking school. If they find something, I hope it is just a simple remedy and that you will be back on track soon. You've worked for it, Jackie, and you deserve reaching your goal.

Teensy and Monet and all you other gardeners--I am so impressed. We had a large garden years ago when the kids were small, but all the stuff you pick. Wow! We have so many bugs and diseases and heat down here that it was hard work to get a good crop. Tomatoes were always so difficult and they often succummed to some wilt or other tomato disease. I am envious of you and your fresh crops.

Julia--Hope you are feeling good today. It's hard to believe that your pregnancy has gone so fast. Seems like yesterday that you were just thinking that you might be preggers.

Tech--Congratulations over winning your battle with the raisins. And they look like such cute little things in those ads on TV. :) Hope Emily is listening to you and keeps heading toward Mexico.

Talking about weather, it is black out right now, and I can hear the thunder booming. It should pour any minute and we will get a frog strangler. This is normal for Florida, but we have had so much extra rain last month that it is getting a little old. My DH has been hoping that he could go out and play golf when I am at my French classes on Tues and Thurs. evenings. But it has been raining late every afternoon, and he has been washed out by the weather.

Heart--How're ya doin' ? Keep thinking and don't brush it off with "this is just how I am" or anything like that. This is time for victory for you, but anything worth having is gonna take hard effort. You can do this, and you can figure this out. Losing the weight by sheer effort, w/o doing the other work, will not last in the long run. So keep thinking! :) :grouphug:

BOB--Sorry to learn that you are under the weather again. Here's an idea. When you get better, start washing your hands like crazy. Like Mrs. McBeth. :) So many germs and viruses are picked up on our hands--when we shake hands, when we use the telephone, doorknobs, escalator rails, shopping cart handles, hot and cold water handles in public restrooms, etc. (I know I sound like I'm phobic!!) But if you keep your hands scrupulously washed and try never to put them in or near you eyes or nose, then maybe you could cut down on those nasty bugs that seem to like you so much. I keep a package of those Wet Wipes in my car and use them when I leave the grocery store or after I pump gas or shake hands with people (like at church). I've cut my colds down by 60% and some years don't get sick at all.

Anyway, BOB, ya gotta get well for Football Season. What will the vols do without your being up to screaming for them every weekend? Less than 60 days until the start of the season.

Well, I've gotten 8200 steps so far, and it is pouring right now, so will have to walk a lot around the house to get those 2000 more steps. Food today:
Breakfast: shredded wheat and bran with 1 nectarine, skimmed milk.
snack: 10 cherries
lunch: "california salad: butterhead lettuce with a couple slices avocado, crabmeat, 3 slices of citrus fruit, crumbled bacon and some blue cheese, lo cal dressing.
Dinner will be salmon and tilapia (I have just a little of each) and some veggies, and maybe some lo carb potato. No salad. I had that for lunch.

My DD's bf came to my DH last night and offered to pay rent. I think he wants to stay here until he marries our DD, and that will be until after the first of the year. We are gonna let him pay rent because we think it will help develop more responsibility in him. Perhaps it will give him the opportunity to practice budgeting, or being accountable to himself for how he uses money. We will be talking to him tonight, I think, depending when he gets here, and will let him propose an amount. It should be an interesting conversation.

Well, I've yakked my head off. Susan of 3FC will kick me off the board for hogging space. But I wanted to get in some replies, which I haven't done in a long time. It's time to go fix dinner, and then study some French and finish my Sunday sch. lesson. This is my last Sunday teaching the little kiddies. :)

Hey guys. I weighed this morning and am down 1 from yesterday. Good considering TOM just showed up and I ate too much at supper last night. This morning I was running late for Boogie's speech class and hadn't ate any bf, then I remembered I had some LC protein bars in the pantry that had been there for months. I grabbed one and out the door I went. Lunch was in town, McDonald's. But don't worry, I had the grilled bacon ranch with less than half a pack of Casear dressing. I had bad cravings for chocolate today(menstural case!) and had a serving(2 pieces) of SF chocolate caramel medallions(2 pieces have 130 cals and 8 g fat). I gave the other pieces to the kids. I'm cooking supper right now. Making chicken salad sandwiches and salad(and chips for everyone else). I need some veggies in the salad since I'm lacking in that dept. today. Man, since I've gained this weight, my endurance with exercise has really dropped. I get winded easily and have quit doing my more strenous workouts for the time being. BUT I'm still exercising. Hopefully, I'll see an improvement soon as my weight drops back down.

GATOR- I use food as a total comfort for stress. Not cool handling your problems with food, what good is that? The problems are still there and then you start creating more problems on top of that. I have to learn to take time outs for myself instead of reaching for junk for temporary comfort.

Susan- Man, I only get 22 pts!! Does everyone get 35 flex points a week, or would mine be lower? I could see how that could help from saying I've blown it, might as well eat whatever. I might look into that, so how do you find out how many points items are without actually joining WW?

BOB- Are you taking your vitamins?! You know you need to take them everyday to strengthen your immune system against the crud.

MONET- I read a little online about the Rosedale diet. Sounds like a strict version of SB. I could see doing it temporarily, but you need more protein than that, especially if you're exercising. I wish I could find some macadamia nut oil around here. I cook with olive oil anyway, and when I use butter, I use Smart Balance. As for the dairy, I could give it up maybe for the 21 days, but that's it. Calcium is way too important, and helps with appetite control if you get enough on a daily basis. How many days have you been doing it?

Alright, it's going on 6 and I still haven't finished with supper, gotta go!

Oh yea- Hey, TECH, aren't you glad that you resisted that naughty Raisin Bran? Good for you.

Jack-k- I'm hoping you have a really BIG loss for WIM! You deserve it.

Alright, where is everyone? I ate supper around 6:45. I think I did okay today, just needed more veggies and a serving of fruit. I'll work on that tomorrow. Well, I really don't have much to report, I was just checking in to see if anyone had posted. Guess I'll go look what's on Netflix...

Good morning Ladies.

Boy I am :tired: today. Don't know why, I went to bed around 10:30 and only got up 1x to potty. But I can hardly keep my eyes open. May have to trade in this decaf for some leaded coffee to wake me up.

It is still :rain: here. At least the grass is looking better. Predicted through the week end too.

Gator, your message to Monet was so on target. I have always said any diet works if you stick to it. The trick is finding one that you can live with on a daily basis forever. The point is changing the way you eat. Sure you can have a treat now and then but basically you must eat right and healty 90% of the time. Portion size is another big issue. I tend to think I have to it the entire thing. I have never left any, no matter how stuffed I am. Again these are issues you have to work out and discover on your own along with boredome eating, stress eating, emotional eating. I think journaling is a big help and plan to start it all next week. Pedometer, journaling, exercising. I am, like you, so mad at myself and it is time to fix this problem. My Dh always wipes the basket handle at the grocery now that they have them handy.

Thunder, sorry you caught the bug. Hope you are well before going on vacation.

Bob, no I don't take anything for RLS. I just move around alot and hope to get my mind off of it. Mine occurs mostly at night when I sit for awhile or if I'm really tired. I seldom have any problems during the day, probably b/c I am up and down so much. Hope yo feel better soon. I agree, you need to get some type of vitamins to help your immune system. I'm sure working at a hospital doesn't help. Those places are full of germs.

Nat, wonder how that monitor will work with you exercising? You go through all that and you can't get any staright answers from the doctors. Hope it turns out to be nothing.

Toni, I sure hope today is better for you.

Tech, I wish that sugar alcohol would affect me in any way. Nothign works on me.

Julia, boy you sure do some fancy cooking for your meals. You and Monet. Hope the sun is shining there today.

Laurie, sounds like you are finding the root of your problems. Keep delving and thinking of you and you will work through this.

Bf: mini ww bagle with pb
snack: clementine
Lunch: salad with turkey, clementine
Dinner, hamburger, slaw, navy beans

Got to run and try to stay awake and get some work done here. Be back later.

Good Morning! I have art class this morning, so I will have to leave in a few minutes. Out of curiousity, I hopped on the scale this morning. It is down 2.5 pounds since yesterday, so I am sure some of the weight was water.

There is one big difference in this program I am trying to do that I am very encouraged about. The horrible cravings, even for legal foods, are gone. I find I can eat a smaller dinner and not feel like I have to tie my hands behind my back to keep from reaching for seconds or thirds... I never felt this total relief, even when I was 100% on Atkins and eating no carbs at all. Is the Leptin connection the answer? I believe it is. I am NOT saying it is a magic bullet, as I firmly believe there is none, but metabolic syndrome requires more than counting calories, and working out, and this may be it. I would be very happy if the long and winding road would widen and even out now, and I could experience some success.

Breakfast: Two poached eggs, coffee with cream

I will check in after class!

Hi Laurie! I hope you are feeling better about things today. I know I get super emotional/depressed when TOM is on the way...could this be a contributor to your feeling down? Also, when I gained my weight, I was going through some really emotional stress. How can I say this without sounding weird...I was a cute size six and Derek was extra emotional and lacking in self esteem because he was going through his divorce. She was really hard on him and called him fat all the time and eventually decided to 'experiment' with being bisexual or some weird thing... Anyhow...we went through a horrendous time where my DH was going through a 'you're too good for me' thing (which was ridiculous for him to think...he's the exact guy I've been looking for ALL of my life) and was convinced that I was going to leave him for a lawyer or whatever, because of the emotions of being dumped by his first wife and the way that she treated him. I think in the back of my mind, I gained my weight back then so fast because I wanted to remove all doubt or whatever that I was going to leave him for anyone...does that make sense? Anyhow...now that THAT is water under the bridge, I'm trying to get back to my normal size 6 and hope that as I get closer to it, it doesn't spark those old problems again.

Anyhow...we had a torrential downpour/thunderstorm this morning. I woke up and in three different directions, my house was surrounded by dark, menacing clouds. I LOVE it!! So, I've been watching the lightning and loving the drama of it all. I don't know what it is about weather...

Speaking of that, Emily became a hurricane last night, but I really think she'll bother Mexico. I'll keep you posted.

On that note...I have to go get dressed for Story Hour in half an hour. Haven't even had breakfast yet!! Maybe I'll grab a plum for the walk there.

Monet--Wow! that is a really nice weight loss, and I am so happy to see that for you. I'm hoping tht you will continue to lose and continue to have no cravings.

I did a no-no and got on the scale this morning and was happy to see that I was down 1 1/2 pounds. That gets me back in the 160's, and I hope that I am still there on Monday. I am certainly aware that weight fluctuates. I got out and did my walk this morning and have almost 6300 steps so far today. I go to French class tonight and leave before my DH gets home for dinner. Then I get home a little after 9 pm. so I hope I get my 10000 steps in today, because I won't be walking this evening.

TALITHA where are you? We've missed you. Are you doing OK?

Jackie, It's amazing how little successes fuel the motivation to keep going. Even doing well with the numbers on my pedometer give me the wherewithal to get out there one more time for my exercise.

Breakfast today: SugarBusters pancakes topped with 1/2 nectarine and fresh raspberries. Mmmm, good.

Heart--I was thinking about your comment about being an emotional eater. So, that made me wonder about what was happenning to arouse such strong emotions that you would sabotage yourself. That may be where you need to direct your focus; what is at the root of your emotions? Is there something you need to work through so that you can handle the problems in different ways? Etc.

Well, gotta go do some chores and study, and other stuff.

Good Morning:

The weekend is almost here. Delaney is feeling almost all better today. Her fever is gone, and all she has left is a little bit of a runny nose and a big attitude (ha). She woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I slept in the spare room last night so I wouldn't keep my DH up with this monitor. He had to get up at 4:30 a.m. for meetings out of town. Britt didn't know I was in there....so she woke up and was looking for me and couldn't find me. She went into Lane's room and woke her up sobbing, saying she couldn't find me anywhere; poor little thing. So, Lane was up sooner than she would have been if she woke up on her own.

I called and cancelled my colonoscopy; I need to deal with one thing at a time. I want to get these heart tests completed first before I take any sort of anesthesia.

I went to my Mom's Night Out for only a few hours and then came home; I wasn't in much of a mood to socialize.

I didn't feel the palpitations as often last night, but the monitor still picked up on a lot of abnormal heart rhythms, so it continued to beep all night. I finally unplugged it at 1:30, so I could get some sleep. I think it is causing more stress than reassurance for me. I go in for my exercise stress test next Tuesday, but can't get in for the echo until August 11th. I didn't drink any iced tea yesterday and didn't eat any chocolate; I just thought I'd try a few things at a time and see what might help.

Not sure what today holds; I am hoping a swim class opens up today to make up for the classes we missed on Monday. We'll see.

Ken: Woohoo....33 weeks already. I am not sure why it is that everyone else's pregnancies go so darn fast, and mine just drug on. I couldn't stand being pregnant; I just loved the end result. I am sure you will be on weekly appts. once you hit 36 weeks; how exciting!

Gator: Do you just feel butterflies or a heavy pulsing sensation? I also though that I was feeling it at night because I was more in tune with my body. I thought I was probably too busy during the day to notice them much. BUT, now that I have this monitor, it confirms that I am not having any during the day. I wore it all day on Tuesday and it never went off, but it did Tues night several times. The only time it went off yesterday during the day was when I was attempting to exercise. But, it was quiet the rest of the day, until I went to bed at night. It's very strange. I really wonder if that nasty infection I had a few months ago might have caused some damage somehow, or the strong antibiotic I took. Last year when we were in Florida, I drove through the nastiest thunder/rain storm that I have ever been in. Everyone had their flashers on, and the rain was coming down so strong, you could barly see beyond your windshield. I had to end up pulling over. I'm glad your DD's BF has stepped up to the plate, and has offered to help pay rent. Can you get kicked off the board for being too wordy???? Suzanne must be on vacation for some of my posts  !

Heart: Glad you are down a pound...keep plugging away!

Jack: You may still be tired from the lack of sleep from the night prior. I did try to exercise a bit yesterday, and it caused the monitor to go off. I go in for an exercise stress test next Tuesday morning; I'll be anxious to see what they fine. I have another call into the doctor this morning; I'd really like some answers.

Monet: Glad you are down a few #'s. Hopefully you have found something that will work for your body type.

Tech: I'm right there with you! I can't wait for our monsoon season to start!
I love the rain and thunderstorms.

BOB: I hope you are feeling better today.

MELF: I hope your arm isn't giving you too much trouble today.

Hello to everyone else!!

Take care,
Nat

Morning. Just checkin' in. I did my workout this morning. I still have to teach exercise class this evening. I hope I'm up to it. My endurance just really sucks right now, I'm sure it's because of the extra weight I'm toting now. Oh yea, I weighed this morning and was down 3 from yesterday, I'm at 173. I may still have 1 or maybe even 2 fluid pounds left on me. At least my face looks pretty much normal again. I hated looking in the mirror and looking at a puffed up round face, especially the swollen eyes. I hate that I can put on so much fluid weight in no time. Of course, I'm "young" and not suppossed to have fluid problems and can't be prescribed anything for it according to the docs. Boloney. Alright, 13 more pounds to go to be back on track!! Alot better than the 22 it was Monday morning. The weekend is approaching, but I don't care! I am totally dedicated, I'm on a mission, lol. You know, yesterday at McDonald's, I wasn't even tempted at all by the kid's fries. In fact, they had some left over and I just threw them away. It really is a mind thing. This morning I had a nectarine and plain yogurt(sweetened with splenda and cinnamon). I'll probably eat a dozen almonds for a snack in a bit. Lunch will probably be a large salad made with tuna, boiled egg, some cheese, veggies, and Ranch dressing. Supper will be spaghetti(but no noodles), lots of salad, and a slice of garlic toast(legal). Alright, I haven't done anything today, need to pick up the house some and wash clothes(yippee)...check back later.

Nat- I also have heart palpitations that I notice more frequently at night. Mine have scared me at times. I feel like my heart is spasming inside my chest and I can even tell it skips beats. But I don't have insurance so unless I feel like it's an immediate threat, I don't go to the doc. I'm curious to hear what the docs say about yours. I did have a free echo taken when Boogie was an infant, simply because he was in a heart study at the hospital. I assume that everything was okay because they said they would only discuss results if something turned up, and I didn't hear anything back. But that was 4 1/2 years ago, too...

Pancho--The "butterflies" feel something like a little fish that might be flopping around in my chest. Not flopping hard, but just flopping. I still get that feeling now and then, but have had cardiograms, and have told my dr. and no one ever got too excited about it. But you are a ton younger than I am, and I think it is a great idea that you are getting it checked out. Especially if the monitor goes off when you attempt to exercise. Might as well find out what's going on so you can move on with your life.

Good afternoon,

I just finished me lunch and I was starving by the time lunch was ready. Good thing I cooked a lot of veggies today so that helped in filling in the gap instead of eating more pasta instead. My day has been productive with cleaning and tidying up of the house so I am really happy. I know my pregnancy has to do with me wanting to clean up the house...lol. One thing that has been bothering more so during this pregnancy is my garage. I really want to get it organized with shelves etc before the baby comes. Now, I only have to pester dh to help me, they are mostly his stuff anyway :)

My menu for today :

Breakfast : 2 leftover medium ww pancakes, 2 small sausage and 1 fried egg. 1
cup of soymilk.

Snack : I forgot today...busy cleaning the house.

Lunch : Curry seafood (basa fish and shrimp) with veggies like onions, carrots
and mushrooms (threw in whatever I have on hand) over pasta and stir-fry nappa
cabbage with carrots, garlic, bell-pepper and onions.

Snack : Fruit salad and nuts.

Dinner : Leftover nappa cabbage stir-fry and will probably add a braised tofu
with chicken. I have been thinking to cook the tofu but somehow never get to
it. Sounds like tonight is the night :)

Snack : 1 cup of soymilk.

Some replies :

GATOR : Yes, I cannot believe that I am almost 33 weeks. This pregnancy really flies...thanks to Jess...lol. Again, love your menu! WTG on your lbs loss!! Woo Hoo!

HEART : Yay! I love your spirit and your never give up attitude. You are doing awesome!

JACK : Nowdays, I have to wake up at least 2 times during the night/morning to go potty but thank goodness I can easily fall back to sleep after that. I know I drink too much water before going to bed but feel like my body needs it anyway. We have rain here every afternoon now...not sure until when. It doesn't stay long so it is not so bad. My meals sound more fancy than they really are but I can't say the same about Monet. She really cooks!! lol. Hope you have a good day.

MONET : Woo Hoo...2.5 lbs is awesome! You are doing great!

TECH : How are you today? I haven't been following Emily lately, thanks for your update.

PANCHO : I am glad Lane is feeling much better, it's about time :) I am definitely like you, I cannot deal with too many things at one time....too overwhelming for me. How are the kids doing in their swimming classes? I really need to find Jess a swimming lesson but somehow keep delaying it..sigh. I used to say the same thing as well, other people's pregnancy always flies by so quickly but mine was a torturely slow...lol but this pregnancy, I really feel that it is flying by so quickly. I never thought I will feel this way. I know it has a lot to do with much easier pregnancy, more experience which put me more at east instead of worries, and Jess...lol. I am not ready for Junior yet because I still want more time with Jess and enjoy my big girl :)

THUNDER : Glad the virus is gone! That calls for celebration!! Nothing is much perfect with dh being home and everyone is healthy.

Got to go. The rain has stopped. I am thinking of going to Linen and Things and then Publix to pick up few items. Will check in later.

Good afternoon ladies.

Things are pretty slow here so here I am. Had a change in menu today, instead of pb on my bagel, I used lite cream cheese. For my snack I had celery and pb. I was really hungry so I thought I better get some protein instead of fruit.

I think all the eating we did last week and cutting way back this week has left me starving all day. Trying only to eat 1-2 starchy carbs a day.

Monet, I'm so glad you are seeing results from this diet. A little loss helps lots in motivation.

Kris, It's good that you know why you gained wt. I'm sure you have developed a loving relationship by now that losing wt or gaining would matter.

Gator, Congrats on the 1 1/2 pounds. Heck, I weigh every day. Have fun at your class tonight. Back to the books.

Nat, so glad Lane is feeling better. It is a good idea to get all this heart stuff taken care of before your colonoscopy. I can understand that it is stressful more than helpful. I'm sure it is nothing, probably something we all have and you just notice it more. Hang in there.

Laurie, you are so right, this is a mind game. We just need to make sure our minds are focused and determined. Yipee for the 3 pounds. You are on the right track.

Thunder, so glad you are feeling better and DH is home. Keep that attitude about not cheating. Once you do, it is so easy to keep cheating. Have a great vacation. Where are you going?

Julia, you must have that nesting feeling, wanting to clean and organize. Come on up, my house can really use both.

Have to run get a birthday gift for my aunt after dinner. I think DD is going to go with me. I hate going by myself.

Have a great evening, talk to you tomorrow.

Hey, guys. Just checkin' in again. I ate supper a little later than usual for Thursday, going on 8 pm. I ate some spaghetti(meat part only)but ate 2 1/2 bowls of salad. Man, it was really good with green onions, cheese, and bacon bits. I enjoyed it better than the spaghetti which was also good. My workout at church wasn't as good as it normally is. Again, I just don't have the endurance to do like I used to. But at least I'm exercising regularly, hopefully it won't be just a couple more weeks before I'm back in the swing of things. We went to Hudson's earlier and I found Boogie a pair of brown leather boots(hiking style)for 90% off..$1.70! So now I can take the shoes I just bought him for school back to Walmart, they were $17. I've spent around $300 getting their school stuff. At least I'm thru with it and will avoid the crowd which always hits the week before. Oh yea, I also found a pair of Spiderman boots that light up for 3 bucks! I got them a size big so that he can wear them this fall/winter. He loves Spiderman bigtime. I'm so nervous about him starting school. What if some little brat pushes him in the chest or something?! Geez, that school will hate seeing me. I'm also scared that he'll let others bully him. I've noticed that he gives in to others easily. He's not used to being around pushy little kids. I'm thinking about seeing if I can volunteer with something at the school for a little while so that I can keep my eye on him. Or is that being too over-protective? Even my Mom thinks it is a good idea, and so does hubby. The school will probably think I'm nuts. Boogie is just so sweet in nature and I'm not sure he's ready or can quite deal with that environment. But I know that I need to give him the chance and go from there. I got the results back from that study thing that we went to Philly for in Feb. Remember? Well, I don't like the results one bit. Of course he didn't do well in speech, he's in speech therapy for that and has made tons of progress since Feb. But it also said he scored low average in memory(due to lack of oxygen), and low average in some other things. Academically, I think he will have a learning disability, he gets frustrated easily, and even cries when he can't do something right from the get go(like writing his name). But on the other hand, he is very smart, comman sense wise. My daughter always makes the honor roll, but is ditzy. Hate to say that, but it's true. Boogie is very smart when it comes to everyday things but when it comes to booksmarts, I think he will have problems. Alright, I have rambled on wayyy too much about this, as you see it has really been on my mind lately. I need to go make my grocery list and plan my supper menus for the week. Catch you guys later.

Its been a busy, but lazy day. I knitted a lot this afternoon. I bought yarn on sale at Hancocks, so I am all set to knit scarves for Christmas presents!

Dinner tonight was a large salad with avocado, cukes (of course...I have GOT to use them up! There are tons more getting ripe! ) cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and olives. I also had a scoop of homemade chicken salad with some macadamia nut oil mixed in. Yum! I drank water...

Lunch was at a Chinese restaurant after the class was over. I had shrimp and Chinese vegetables, and hot and sour soup. I tried to leave as much of the sauce from the entree as I could. They also brought me a chicken wing, which I ate, and an egg roll, which I did not eat. I had a few extra chicken wings too. (left from the kids with us...) It essentially was ok, all legal, but I think there may have been some 'hidden' no nos, like corn starch, sugar, a bit of breading on the wings....

Snack this afternoon was a handful of macadamia nuts, and a few olives with a diet Pepsi One, and a cup of espresso later on.

HEART: I think volunteering at the school is a great idea! I am sure you will make sure all the teachers and staff know about Boogie's heart and all he has been through. They will watch out for him, but it never hurts to see for yourself how he does, and how he interacts with the other kids. The teachers will love you for your help, which will give Boogie a bit of an edge! :s:

KENG: My daughter is a cake decorator for Publix and she mentioned the whole wheat buns to me a few weeks ago. My Publix has not started carrying them yet. Of course, they probably will now that I can't have any grains for a few weeks! Save all that energy! You may need it! :)

THUNDER: I hope you all have a wonderful time at the party and on vacation! You are so determined to stay on plan! I know you are going to succeed! I am glad you are feeling better!

JACK: That is probably why you are hungry....if you were eating a lot of no nos, it probably caused a raise in your insulin levels, which will eventually calm down.

TONI: Go read the recipe section and get some ideas...maybe that will help inspire you! Another thing that helps is to go read the GI list, or find something on the evils of sugar. I find reacquainting myself with these things reminds me of why I want to stay on plan!

PANCHO: That was so sad about Britt not being able to find you! Especially since she woke Lane up! I hope they can give you the results of the monitor soon. Did they tell you not to go exercise with the monitor on? Its weird that you only have the problems at night.

GATOR: I hope that the loss you saw this morning holds. Its always nice to see results when you are being good! :) I am hoping to see more results...I am feeling rather good about this. I just hate it when I get encouraged, then the weight loss stops and I get discouraged. Talitha said she was going on vacation, so I am assuming she has left. I am not sure how long she said she would be gone...

TECH: How was story time? I love going to the library. They just rearranged ours though, and I can never find anything! I had to smile thinking about you enjoying the storm....

Time for me to knit a few rows before bed. I am almost done with the baby blanket, and it will feel good to have it finished. I just need to decide if I want to put fringe on it, or try sewing a blanket edging on it. Decisions, decisions....

Good morning Ladies.

Boy this has been a long week and I' sure glad it's Friday.
We had a pool party to go to tomorrow, but it got cancelled due to the weather here. it is still rainining and overcast. I'm kind of glad it got cancelled, she was getting wings (breaded) and having pizza. I was planning on taking a big salad but was dreaded the temptations. We do have to go to the nursing home as it is my aunt's birthday. We are taking a cake, but I can leave that alone with no problem.

I have got to clean my house some time this weekend.

Toni, I hope the grocery store inspires you. Get naked and look in the mirror, look through you closet at clothes you can't wear. Maybe those things will inspire you.

Julia, I longed for ww hamburger buns. Sara Lee now makes one, but it is huge. I have bought several packages but have never used them as they are so large. I'm so used to eating my burgers w/o a bun I don't know that I will ever go back.

Sonya, boy you do have a busy weekend. WTG on planning to take some legal food with you. Have fun.

Laurie, every mom has fears about her baby going off to school. I am sure Boogie is aware of his condition and won't let anyone push him in the chest. Hey ifyou have time to volunteer, I'm sure the school will welcome you. Just tell the teacher ahead of time about his condition and she will keep an eye out for him. Commonsense goes a long way. You will just have to work with him more on his schoolwork.

Monet, keeping your hands busy knitting will keep you from eating. Good idea.

Got t get busy here. Be back later.

Laurie: Do you have a college degree? Just wondering because it might be a great idea to check out what your school district requires for substitute teachers. That's what I'm going to try and do when my DS goes to kindergarden in 2006. I know the kindergarden teacher in our school flat-out refuses to let parents mingle in the classroom as a means to get the kids to be independent. My personal opinion is that they're a little harsh on them...'specially for the kids that are at home with mom and don't have exposure to the daycare world...which can be a lot like school for some. But for most kids, it's an adjustment they make a lot quicker than we give them credit for. But your little one has extenuating circumstances, so I would do what I can to be there as well. Maybe you can get a part time job in the office or lunchroom? That would put you in the school for sure. Or working in the library or something? I'm with you...and I'm going to be doing the exact same thing when my little one goes to kindergarden...it's either that or I'M going to need to see a therapist having to be home without my little guy with me. :(

Monet: You should try going to Lion Brand Yarn's website (google it). They have loads of free downloadable patterns for knitting and crocheting. One I've used more than once is a pattern for mittens. And I made a crocheted vest for my DD that she wore a few times and then lost at school. I'd like to make her a poncho soon. I'll have to look on that site and see if they have a pattern for free! Also, you're mind will be blown as the array of yarn Lion Brand puts out. Personally, for afghans, I like the cheap red heart brand. But for things like scarves and mittens and things, the specialty stuff is awesome. For instance...You can get those really big knitting needles and use two strands of yarn for a scarf...one strand of the Fun Fur and one strand of the Homespun yarn. Cool, cool, cool scarves can be made this way!! And they were quite popular up here in the North Country this winter, too!! ;)

Thunder: You are truly inspirational with your determination to stay on plan!! Keep up the great work!! You should put a ticker in your signature so we can all watch the pounds fall off!! ;)

Toni: I hear ya...once I fall off the wagon, it's hard for me to get back on track, as well!! One of my biggest downfalls is the treats for the kids. I reason that just because I'M on a diet, doesn't mean my kids have to go without...then I buy Chips Ahoy for them and eat half the container. Truth is, they CAN do without Chips Ahoy...empty carbs and loads of sugar equals short attention span and spazoid kids!! :dizzy: So, I have to rethink my thinking from time to time and stop the madness!!

Jack: Oh, yes...that was such a stressful time for me and my DH. I look back and I'm totally amazed that we made it through such a horrible time together. After seeing what he went through emotionally going through a divorce, I don't envy anyone going through one. Nobody in my family has ever gone through a divorce, so I didn't know how emotional it was...I always thought it was like breaking up with a boyfriend only more complicated. Thankfully, my DH didn't have children with Wife #1, so he didn't have to deal with that, but he definitely had to deal with the feelings of failure and thinking he wasn't good enough for her, etc. My DH is 44 and I'm literally his third romance...he had a teenage romance and then he had his first wife and then me. Anyhow...he took it really hard and I'm just glad that is all years and years behind us. I don't talk about it much because I assume that people assume that since we were together during his divorce that he left her for me...when in reality she decided to persue life as a bisexual. Hey, whatever floats your boat, but if you're holding on to a good man and I'm sitting here dying to be married to one, don't mind me if I 'get the net' while you persue happiness with multiple partners!! Anyhow...now that that's behind me, I can lose the weight without worrying about the DH getting nervous. And if he does, I'll just tell him to relax, for crying out loud. Being heavy had had serious effects on our love life, actually. I feel so fat and unattractive that I'm just not in the mood like I was when I was happy with my looks. So, once the old libido kicks in, he'll see the positive benefits in it for him, as well, and nudge me on to my size six!!

Okay...I have to cut my replies short (DD just said, "do you know how loooong you've been typing?").

Emily report: I think she'll cut through the top of the Yukatan Peninsula and then head for Texas. Probably Corpus Christie area...maybe further south to Brownville. Maybe even Galveston? But I think Texas is under the gun with this one!! I was trying to find a post from Crystle to see where she is in Texas...is she coastal?

Okay...off to get in the shower and get he day going!!

Good morning,

I didn't sleep well so I am a little tired. I guess the training of "less" sleep is here, might as well get ready for it now :)

Not sure what I am going to do today. I didn't make it to Linen and Things yesterday so might do it today which will depends on how lazy I am. Other than that, nothing much planned for today except vacuuming the master bedroom and cleaning the bathroom. Yikes!

Menu for today :

Breakfast : A ham and cheese grilled cheese sandwich and 1 cup of soymilk.

Snack : Fruit salad.

Lunch : Spaghetti with italian sausage sauce (got the idea from food network again) and a mixed green salad.

Snack : Fruits and nuts.

Dinner : No idea at this moment.

Some replies :

JACK : I have a feeling I am nesting too but I am surprise that it is earlier than I thought. Anyway, this is definitely a good thing...lol but I still don't like cleaning though..lol.

TONI : Maybe it's time to try some new recipes. I am constantly looking for new recipes because that excites me and make me want to eat what I cook. The next recipe I want to try is from Rachael Ray's 30 mins meal. She made this "fish pouch" with green beans etc in a parchment paper but the exciting part wasn't the pouch but the "anchovies" in it. I love anchovies especially after they melts and become part of the sauce. Not fishy at all. Yum! You can do it....one meal at a time :)

THUNDER : Sounds like you have a busy schedule ahead and also good planning as well. Have fun!

HEART : I totally understand your concern for Boogie. I would be too. Jess started K3 last May and after a while, I get really concerned for what she went thru and learnt at school. School environment is very stressful for kids, not to mention teachers. Jess get into trouble few times because she wasn't the type who just sit there and let other kids bully her or that her "lovingness" gets her into trouble....lol. With Boogie's heart condition, I know your worries are even much much more and it is totally normal. I totally support your idea of volunteering at Boogie's school because you will get to know the school system, how it works, how they teachers work/teach/deal with the children and also what kind of environment Boogie is in. When Jess gets into trouble, I wasn't there and didn't know exactly what happened eventhough I have got a rough report from her teacher. I know there was much more factors that contributed to what happened but I can't be sure. The reasons I wanted to know is because I know how to guide Jess thru it much easier than just "assuming". I want to know what other factors that triggerred her to react that way so I can help her find some ideas on how to deal with those issues which may come up again. I know I am rambling and probably going off the topic (lol) but what I am trying to say is it is totally okay to want to be more in the "know" with your children's lives, all we need to do is know when to step back and let them grow :) That is the hardest part...lol. I am hoping to do some volunteering work at jess school (if I have the time that's) and get to know the teachers (especially) and how the school operates overall.

MONET : You did an awesome job at the chinese restaurant yesterday, much better than I could have done. WTG!! I am not too sure what I am going to do with the ww buns right now (besides hamburger, sloppy joes etc) but it is nice to know I have more options these days :)

JACK : I haven't been able to find Sara Lee ww buns but I actually don't use ww buns often at all but somehow knowing that I have the ww option, it sure is nice. I would probably have an open-faced hamburger or something like that if the carbs are not too high.

TECH : Hello!! Have a good day :)

It's time to let Jess use the computer. Will check back later.

Good Morning:

Don't have much time, since we have our swim lesson make-ups soon; we have to leave in about 20 minutes.

REMEMBER TO BE GOOD THIS WEEKEND, SINCE WE ARE WEIGHING IN ON MONDAY!!! THAT S/B INCENTIVE, RIGHT?

I think I am going to try to go workout for a little bit tomorrow a.m., and see what this monitor does. It went off again last night, so I finally unplugged it around 12:30 a.m.,so I could get some sleep. I haven't worked out all week.

Heart: You and Jackie's water retention must be so frustrating; I can't even imagine retaining that much water. Thanks for the info. on your heart palps; I'll definately keep you posted on the findings for me. Good luck this weekend!! Overprotective? Not at all; a lot of schools are thrilled to have volunteers. Britt/Lane's school encourages it. You pay less $ per month if you volunteer in the classroom.

Thunder: So glad you are feeling better. Enjoy your vacation with the family. We hope to hear all about it when you return.

Ken: So, you are starting to nest...in the garage (ha). I hope your DH helps you get it all organized. The girls are doing well with swimming. I would like to see a little more progress by now, but the instructors really ease them into it. I felt the same way about my time with Britt....it changes, but it is still wonderful. Jess will love to be big sister (2nd mommy), and you will start to see her more as a big girl instead of a baby. The first time you look at Jess after Jr. is born, she will even look so much bigger.

Jack: Thanks for the encouraging words. I guess it is a good thing that that party got cancelled. Enjoy your weekend.

Toni: I hope you got lots of good fruits and veggies when at the store.

Monet: See...having your own garden helps keep you on plan, and eating so healthy!! They have not told me to stop exercising while wearing the monitor. It's probably a good idea to, so they can see what is going on when I do. I'm just kinda afraid to. We'll see.

Well, I gotta go fill up our water bottles so we can get outta here.

Take care,
Nat

Good Afternoon! I am pondering my options on how to finish off this piece I have been knitting. I can make it a 30 inch wide shawl, and put fringe on the ends, or keep knitting and have it be a 60 inch by however much yarn I have long afghan. I cast on 100 stitches, and it is measuring over 60 inches wide! I also entertained the idea of decreasing the stitches while knitting to achieve a more triangular shape. I would be happy to hear opinions on which you think would be most appreciated....

Breakfast this morning was chicken salad, and espresso. I have not had lunch yet. I did not even think of food until I sat down here and wrote that, now my tummy is beginning to make 'feed me' noises. They are awfully soft, so I will wait for the hollers! :s:

Tom and I are going to the mountains in the morning. He is leading a camping trip for the men from church and wants to check out the area before they go. We will probably carry a picnic lunch and do a little hiking. I am not up for too much, but I love carrying my camera and doing some mild hiking.

TECH: Thanks for the suggestion...I went and checked out Lion Brand's website then went on to Coats and Clarks, who make Red Heart Yarns. I found a lot of neat information and tons of free patterns. The problem is, I don't understand the patterns! All I can do is knit and purl...so when they start throwing in the tog, ssk, slip, one over, etc., and talk about circular needles, well, my brain kind of shuts down in shock. I downloaded a few of the easy patterns, so I can try and learn though! :)

The tummy is getting a bit louder, so I guess I will oblige it with some lunch. Not sure what it will be, but I will be back soon....

GUESS WHO THE BOSS SENT HOME.....AGAIN!!!!

The CRUD has moved into my chest, and I just got off the phone with the Doc's office to call me in some heavy duty cough medicine...Glad the weekend is here and I can rest. I feel like total crap!
This too will pass! http://bestsmileys.com/sick/2.gif http://bestsmileys.com/sick/3.gif

It's thundering out there and I'm guessing that we're in for a boomer late in the afternoon.

MONET...Have fun up in the mountains...Hope it's cooler up there. Let us know all about it when you return!

NAT...did I miss what the Doc said? OR have you not gone yet?

JULIA....when is the little munchkin due?

KRIS...looks like the storms are lining up down south...We had a season like this once before and it was brutal! Keep up updated...

JACKIE....so sorry it's still UCKY up there...BUT...look on the bright side. If it's raining, you have no excuse not to get the house cleaned!

LAURIE...sounds like you're really busy...good luck!

THUNDER..so glad to hear that you're feeling better. Got to keep up your strength to keep up with that little SB MUNCHKIN!!!

TONI....HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! Have a great weekend!

Hey, guys. Just got back from my grocery-shopping. I weighed this AM and was down 2 from yesterday, to 171. My menu hasn't been the greatest, need some calories and something nutrtious. For bf, I had yogurt and 12 grapes. Well, that didn't hold, I was starving while at the store. I ate an Atkins morning cereal bar, guess you could call that my lunch(150 cal). Oh yea, ate 2 sf lifesavers(15 cal). Then I came home and ate a Carb Options ice cream sandwich(80 cal). So that's it. But supper will probably make up for it all, lol. We'll probably go out to eat. Don't worry, I PROMISE I won't put anything illegal in my mouth! I did my workout this AM, 3 mile WATP. My endurance still sucks, but at least I made it thru it. I'm still wearing elastic but I did try on a pair of my shorts and I could button them but they were too uncomfortable to wear. So maybe another week, I'm hoping. I can tell a difference in my face, belly, and legs so far. Nothing looks bloated and puffy anymore. Fluid is gone, now it's all fat from here, lol. I'm going to look into that substituting at Boogie's school, but I do not have a degree. I've been telling myself that I will go back to school when Boogie does. We'll see what pans out. Well, guys the weekend is here and like Pancho said, REMEMBER, WE HAVE TO WEIGH-IN MONDAY! I actually started to pig out on triscuits when I came home and then stopped myself and said what are ya doing?! You know you can gain weight from overeating legal foods just as well as eating an illegal food, plus you gotta weigh Monday, lol. So I stopped before I even opened the package. Besides, I need some veggies and protein at this point. Alright, I need to go!

Howdy:

We are home for a little break between swim lessons and tumbling classes. Lane is asleep on the couch, and Britt is watching Arthur.

I am totally baffled with my bloodwork from the dr's office. My levels on everything is usually so below normal. This time, my cholesterol is 193, HDL 42 & LDL 136, and Triglycerides are 77. I have never had a reading like that, ever!! Cholesterol on my mom's side of the family is horrible, so it must be genetic. I work out 3-4 times a week and eat healthy 90% of the time. I don't get it. They left a message with my numbers and said to eat a low cholesterol diet, eat more fiber and exercise more....what? I already do all that, pretty much. I guess I will just have to do the best I can. I know that with these "potty" problems...I cut some of the fiber and veggies out for awhile; maybe that made a difference. I usually never dread bloodwork results. Last time, I didn't even fast and my numbers were far better! BUMMER!

Monet: That knitting stuff sounds like a foreign language to me, so I'm not sure what to suggest. I think that anything you do will be much appreciated; not many people put time and "love" into their gifts anymore. It's so much easier to buy them without much effort. Have a fun little hike with DH. We are looking into buying property up north, so we can "escape" anytime we want to.

BOB: Howdy, girlfriend! So sorry to hear the crud has moved into your chest; that's the worst!! Get plenty of rest this weekend and find some good movies to watch. The doctor has me scheduled for a stress test next Tuesday, and an echo on August 11th. I am now wearing a heart monitor 24/7 that picks up any heart irregularities. It only seems to be going off at night for the most part, but they haven't detected anything too serious yet....I guess. I'll keep you all posted.

I mada Taco Soup last night, and we will be having leftovers tonight. Tomorrow night will be BBQ chicken. Not sure what we will have on Sunday yet. I plan to have an OP weekend though. My weight was 122.5# this morning, and I hope to get back to 120# sometime in the near future.

I'll try to get on sometime over the weekend to check in.

Have a great weekend!!!

PANCHO: You sound like my husband. He is at a perfect weight, works out very regularly, is in fabulous shape, eats well, but his cholesterol is always bad. He takes Slo-Niacin, which helps it some and balances the bad and good stuff. For the most part, please don't sweat it. They REALLY don't know that much about the correlation between high cholesterol and heart disease. Go check out Mercola's web site (www.mercola.com) and do a search on cholesterol. He has some very interesting info on it. Tom refused to take Lipitor after researching cholesterol online. His is just naturally high, and yet a test to show the insides of his arteries showed them whistle clean....

BOB: Are you taking vitamin C like we all told you? Rest! Feel better!

Its storming really bad here...better go!

Hello ladies. This will be pretty short. It is fixin' to storm any minute now, and we will get a lot of lightening and thunder.
BOB--Ya doin' OK over there, kiddo? Are you getting the bad electrical storms every afternoon?

I went to the mall and bought another pair of bermuda shorts. The ones I have are getting too big in the waist and are starting to hang on me. But the butt is still size 16, whereas I need about a 12 for my waist. I compromised and got a size 14 at August Max.
I met a friend for lunch today. First time I've eaten out in about 2-3 weeks. We went to Applebee's and they had a nice section of Weight Watcher menus, so got a chicken sandwich on WW bun. I suspect that the bun was not SB legal with all whole wheat. Came with lettuce, tomato, and onion and no fat cheese and some fruit. 370 calories. My friend is on Weight Watchers and has lost 15 pounds in 7 weeks. That's very good, I think. And she has not been exercising. I guess I should keep reading my signature!!

It rained horribly yesterday afternoon, so didn't get any more walking in and ended up with less than my 10000 steps. Today I walked on the TM at the gym (It's last day in existance!) and then some more at home in our neighborhood, and then more at the mall. So am over 10000 today. :)

OK, everyone have a great eating-on-plan weekend for Monday is WIM. How 'bout "Win on Wim." or "Make your Wim a Winner." Corny, I know.

Gotta go.

 EVERYONE!
Sorry I haven't been around the last few days. Have managed to keep up with reading most of the posts but not posting replies. Eating goes ok for a while then I end up blowing it.

Went to my 2 week check up yesterday & MD took stitches out of my shouler but still in the sling w/ wedge pillow for at least another 4 weeks & not able to use right arm except for exercising lower arm...elbow down. Went to my first PT vs this am & now I really need a pain pill...lol

It's the first day since surgery that I even attempt to wear a bra but as soon as my DD gets back here to help me it's definitely coming back off. The PT was surprised I even tried to put one on...said most female pts don't even try at this point so I think I'm progressing well with the shoulder.

Had a horrible night last night as I was picking figs yesterday evening with DH & bent over to pick up a fig I dropped on the ground & pulled my back out again. Felt like fire hit me in the lumbar spine about where I have the 2 bulging disks. Been in agony ever since. It's far worse than my shoulder pain for sure. Fixing to go lay down again but wanted to read the board & say hello first.

Got to go...

The rain is moving out of the area...but it was very severe for a bit...they were predicting up to an inch! Now the swing is all wet, so I can't go out and enjoy the rainlessness....

Mmmm, Monet. Well, ummmm, I asked my Mmmmetal Mmmonster and it said that it definitely, mmm, loved Metal Monster Monday. :) For those of us with good news from the scale, though, it might not be such a monster. However, I do like the MMM.!!

Food today:
Breakfast: Shredded wheat n bran with one nectarine and 1/2 cup skimmed milk.
Lunch: Applebee's grilled chicken sandwich with no-fat cheese and tomato, lettuce and onion, with some kind of sauce, on what was pretending to be a WW bun. Fresh fruit of Strawberry and pineapple.
Dinner: Large green salad with fresh veggies in it. Lo cal dressing. 5 oz. shrimp grilled on the BBQ. 15 cherries. 1 small piece of 70% chocolate.

I got about 14000 steps today. My DH and I went for a walk after dinner. Tomorrow I go to the farmers' market and I hope to buy some homegrown tomatoes and other in-season vegetables. Will also take a walk in the little village of Winter Park and get in some steps. My DH is playing golf.

Our new temper-pedic bed will be here the middle of next week. So I will be arranging to borrow a pump on Wednesday so that we can pump all the H2O out of our water bed on Thursday morning so that they can move it on Thursday when they set up our new bed. I hope we like the new mattress as much as we think we will. We laid on it for almost a half an hour in the store. I'm enjoying my new memory foam pillow.

Mary--Remember when we got together here for lunch at Applebee's when you were in town. I think you and your husband, and maybe someone else were here and I had lunch with you. You looked so great. It's hard to imagine that you have put on any weight as you looked so athletic then. And it hasn't been THAT long ago. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

BOB--Are you listening to us???!!! :nono: Take those vitamins and we mean it! And wash those hands.

Pancho--Monet is right. I think the drug companies have a deal with the doctors and that is why they prescribe Lipitor or whatever at the drop of a hat. There was a fascinating article about how the drug companies enlist the services of doctors to "push" their brand of meds and how much the doctors get paid for doing so. The article was on the front page of one of today's Wall Street Journal. Anyway, both the holistic doctors that I have gone to say that high cholesterol is not necessarily bad, and that MD.s just make too much of a deal about it. Most of the time the high number comes through heredity. My mother's is 300 something and she is 85, think as a rail, and healthy as an ox.

Well, am gonna go keep my DH company in front of the TV.

Good evening,

I just finished watching $40-a-day on Food Network and actually felt much hungrier after the show...lol. Anyway, I have 1 hr to spend before 11 pm comes. I am going to watch the new season of Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis and also record them for dh as well. Dh and I are Stargate SG-1 fans, never thought I will love that sci-fi show, it was all dh's fault :)

Eating was pretty good today and I even resisted having ice-cream at a creamery store today while getting Jess her treat. She had a kiddy cone and I did taste the ice-cream and resisted on getting a small cup for myself, even when they have sf ice-cream made with Splenda. I was so proud:) When we came home, I had to dig into my cold fruit salad immediately...yumm, so refreshing...lol.

Some replies :

PANCHO : You had no idea how messy my garage is. Garage is meant for cars not things....lol. We have a 3 car garage and 2 cars but yet only manage to park 1 car, what's wrong with that picture?? lol. Dh put so many of his stuff in the garage and it really looked so messy. When our friends from Miami came to visit, we actually cleared out the garage and can almost park dh car in but had few lumbers to take care of first. Since the guests left, the garage started to fill up slowly again and I don't want it to. I want to organize it and park dh's car inside the garage while leaving some space for storage. I need to take action now before it fills up and there are too many stuff to clear out...lol. After we cleared out the garage, I can actually see the nice walls in my garage and I loved it..lol. I want my walls...lol. I would love to find a swimming instructor that would work with Jess's fear and ease her into the next step whenever she is ready and not treat her like she is the same as anyone. At Jess's Kindermusik class, her teacher and I spoke about a swimming instructor she heard that would throw young kids into the pool and let them struggle to the surface (with careful monitoring) and she said the instructor has great success with many kids. I know it will probably work but I don't care for that kind of success if Jess would be tramatized. She is doing so much better now than when we first started to swim. Now, she would even splash her face, blow bubbles and let her nose get wet but something about going under the water scares her and I totally understand. As big as I am now, I am not very comfortable going underwater. I usually take a little while before I get comfortable and then, I can swim at ease but I still have my fears.

MONET : Which mountains are you guys heading to? GA mountains?? My church has our annual family trip at Vogel State Park, have you been there?

BOB : I second what everyone "command" you to do, eat your vitamins, wash your hands (lots) and take lots of rest as well. I will keep you in my prayers. Junior is due in Sept 7 but I feel like he wants to come out now and start to crawl...lol. He is so strong and so active that I fear he would be such an energizer bunny and I thought Jess was active...lol.

HEART : You are doing great...keep up the good work. I do not have a degree either but maybe someday I will get one if I can figure out what I really want to study...lol.

PANCHO (2nd message) : I am so sorry about your tests result. I am sure it must be very frustrating. That is strange because you had good results previously with the same kind of food, good exercise etc. I wonder if they made a mistake??

GATOR : Isn't it nice to get new shorts/clothes because the old ones do not fit anymore? :) WTG!

MELF : I will keep you in my prayers as well. Hope your get some relief for your back and a speedy recovery for your shoulder.

That's for tonight....Junior is kicking me like crazy. Guess he doesn't like it when I spend too much time on the computer...lol. See ya tomorrow. Night..

Me again. We ate out tonight. I wanted Barnhill's because I've been craving veggies and I could load up there. But I was outvoted and we ate Lapinata again. I kept it all legal, but this time I ate the beans. I was soooo hungry! I hope I don't show a gain on the scale. They put so much salt in those things. Last time I ate them, I was up a pound the next day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Good news is that I did stay legal. Next week I will be helping DH at work the whole week. He's doing a job that he can't afford to pay labor out, but still needs an extra set of hands. So guess I'm the lucky one. I have to get a babysitter for the kids next week, cause my parents both work and can't watch them. The lady that will keep them is going to charge me $20 a day(5 days)for the 2. So it will cost us a hundred for me to work, but will save a couple hundred still for not having to hire help. So I may be sparse next week with my posting. I've already started thinking about what I'm going to eat to stay OP. We'll eat bf before we leave in the morning and lunch will be at Foodmax where they usually serve some kind of meat with veggies and beans. So pretty much legal, I'll give my roll to hubby, lol. Supper will more than likely be something I can throw together quick when we get home, but will be legal!! The only thing I'm worried about is the lack of exercise. I won't be able to get my workouts in like I want. Hopefully, I'll burn enough calories staying active throughout the day to compensate for it. Oh yea, my heart support group(online) started talking about weight loss and stress eating, especially stress that comes with being a heart mommy, and we have formed a support group online for heart moms with eating or weight issues. So of course, I had to tell them all about SB and so forth. I'm starting to get questions, so we may get a couple of newbies here at this forum. Alright, goodnite!

BOB: You need to be taking Vitamin C - more than once a day. I recommend two 500's three times a day. (and don't waste your money on Ester C...any vitamin C works according to the Vitamin C foundation). I take Twin Lab Daily One caps without iron. They are one of the best multis on the market. They usually carry them at GNC. You need to be taking Echinachea. Get a standardized one. You take it three weeks, and lay off one. Read the label. Calcium Citrate is the best calcium, and they have it all over. Publix has it. I take a B complex, but I doubt I really need it. Chromium Picolinate is highly recommended for weight loss, so you might want to get some of it. Its cheap, and they have that at Publix too. L-Arginine is good for heart health, and L-Carnitine helps with fat metabolism. They should be taken on an empty stomach. And another very important supplement to take is Fish Oil, and the best brand of that is Carlson's. They carry it at Whole Foods. Its expensive, but it has had a remarkably good effect on my joints already, and my thinking has cleared as well. Its high in Omega threes, which are good for the brain, heart and joints. I know you asked Gail, but nutrition and supplementation is something I am toying with getting a degree in from an online naturopathic school... :)

KENG: We are heading up to Dick's Creek which is about 15 miles north of Dahlonega. I have been to Vogel many times. We have camped there, and rented a cabin there one summer with the family. Its a fun place! We also like to camp at Lake Winfield Scott, and have camped at DeSota Falls too. Tom tends towards being a mountain man! He is a member of the Applachian Trail Club, and goes on all kinds of hikes and such. North Georgia is a great area for scenic beauty and hiking and what not! :)

Ok, gotta go to bed...we are leaving early for the mountains, so I need my rest. I have to get up early and fix espresso and pack the lunch!

As usual, we are flutsing around and have not left yet. Its gray, overcast and there is a 60% chance of rain. Should we postpone? No way! AND, he wants to take the truck instead of my Camry, which would be MUCH more comfortable than his truck. I hope its a fun trip, cause I am feeling apprehensive about it now! :)

I will check in tonight!

BOB--I agree with Monet on everything, except that I take 2 1000 mg tabs of vitamin C. With all the illness you have had, you might consider taking that much to help ward off all the colds, etc. you seem to get. I bought one of those vitamin/pill daily pill taker boxes at the drugstore and count out my vitamins once a week into the spaces. Then I take one vitamin C in the morning and one in the evening. Same for my others if I take more than one per day. I also recommend something called MSM plus glucosamine which is good for your joints. I know it seems like a lot when you have taken "One -A-Day" but you will get used to taking several pills at a sitting. :) Let us know how it goes.
The other thing I would definitely recommend as much as the vitamins is the washing hands bit. Keep Wet Wipes at your desk, and use them on your telephone, keyboard, drawer handles, etc. You have been sick so much that you are picking up those viruses or bacteria somewhere. Most of the time we get stuff by touching something contaminated and then transferring it, unwittingly, to our eyes or nose, and it then settles in to make us sick. I am even wary of touching elevator buttons and use my key or pencil to push it instead. And when you leave the restroom, take a paper towel to use to pull open the door. Just be aware of what you are touching, and then not touching your face anywhere.

My DH is playing golf this morning. Will be home about 2 I think. So I went to the farmers' market by myself and bought a plant of thyme, some sharp white cheddar, 2 boules (small round loaves) of WW sourdough bread, and some fresh eggplant which won't have those big bitter seeds in them. Also bought some avocados and had an avocado/tomato sandwich on WW pita when I got home. I was starving. I got about 3 miles of walking in to boot.

Julia--Every year for Mothers' Day, my gift is a clean garage. It has become a tradition, and my kids come over and my husband gives some supervision, and they clean out the garage so that we can get both cars in, and it actually looks pretty nice. Of course, there is a lot of throwing away of junk we have colleccted over the year. But we are prepared to get rid of enough stuff so that there are no piles of "stuff" along the sides in our garage. It's actually a very nice gift, because I get to sit out in the garage and watch, and we all talk and yak and have a good time.

Our bed came in and they will set it up Wed. I have to go buy a new dust ruffle because the one on our water bed frame will be too short for the new bed. Also, I'm considering getting an allergy type dust mite proof mattress cover but it looks like I will have to order it online, and it is $79, which is a lot of $$$$ !! Anyone have any experience with these?

Well, I'm gonna go. Want to get back from the store b/f my DH gets home.

Hello all. Have had the worst stress week ever. Our little boston terrier who's 13 has been very sick over the past 6 months. He's slowly been going down hill and yesterday evening we had to put him to sleep. And today bury him. We're very broken hearted here and will miss him horribly. But now its over and hopefully after this week end I'll get back OP. I got lots of good healthy stuff to eat while grocery shopping. I watched the food network this morning and the calorie commando made a potato latke out of squash and I'm wanting to try this. Everyone have a great week end..

Don't have time to do personal replies right not, but wanted to thank you all....Ken, Monet, Gator....for the encouraging words. My mom had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She takes meds for the blood pressure, but refuses to on the cholesterol. I totally agree with the drug companies and doctors pushing drugs when not needed. The high desirable range used to be 200 or less, and they are trying to drop that now to 175. I'll see how it goes the next time I have it drawn. I also heard that homocysteine levels are a better indicator of heart disease than cholesterol, and mine are within levels.

I went to the gym today, and the monitor went off 4 times, so I turned it off to finish my workout. I called the recordings in, and they ended up clearing me and saying that I could continue to work out; it must not have been anything too bad. I am anxious for this stress test on Tuesday.

TONI: MY HEART BREAKS FOR YOU!!! SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS! You did the right thing by not letting your baby hurt anymore. (((((HUGS))))))!!!

Hey, guys. I weighed this AM and was down 1 from yesterday, 170. I'm sure it will slow down now(RATS!). I've been hungry today, and it's not just emotional hunger either, unless my head is telling my stomach to growl. I don't know what is up. Maybe it is psychological that has affected my physical being...being that it is the weekend?? Anyway, I ate yogurt and 12 grapes after my workout this morning. An hour later my stomach was growling and it was about time for me to go to town, so I grabbed and ate a LC bar(260 cals and 13g fat, 23 g protein). I thought that would hold me for awhile...NOT! My stomach was growling about an hour and a half after eating that. I held off until about 1 and went to McDonald's where I had the grilled chicken casear salad(no croutons)with less than half a pk of dressing, diet coke. By the time I got home I just wasn't feeling satisfied, so I had a LC ice cream sandwich(80 cal, 4g fat). That was about an hour ago. As far as cals go, I'm only right at 800, I think, never been much of a calorie counter. So I can't eat anything else until supper because supper will be high cals, around 600 I'm sure, if not a tad over. I'm making taco salad(no chips or shell), with all the fixings like light sour cream, salsa, cheese, and refried beans(plus ground beef, lettuce, etc). Maybe I should stay away from the beans, we'll see. I kinda feel like I deserve the stupid beans for staying OP,lol. Anyway, I was able to go to the mall and walk around without the kids. Which would normally be great if I didn't feel so crummy. I had a headache(gone now) and I'm so tired feeling. I've been fatigued feeling for a couple weeks now. Don't know what's wrong with me, it sucks. Maybe I should add some vitamin B to my supp's? Which one do you take, the B6 or B12?

Nat- I remember, I remember! I keep reminding myself all throughout the day that Monday is MMM,lol. I'm reallllllyyyy hoping to see 169 on Monday morning(fingers crossed).

Well, that's it for me!!

Oh yea, where the heck is Country? Isn't is almost 2 weeks since she posted? And where is Talitha, she hasn't posted this week either! Susan is on a trip, right?

We had a blast in the mountains. I will post some pictures if they turn out ok. It was rainy and overcast with only minimal glimpses of sunshine. It was cool though, and we hiked down from the forest road to the valley where the closed road crosses Blood Mountain creek. We waded in the creek and I took some pictures. It was very cold! :) Then we had to walk back up the mountain to where we had parked. I got in about 5000 steps on the hike alone and have about 7000 for the day. I accidently hit reset before we started out, so I can't remember what I had prior to the hike.... duh! We ate our picnic lunch sitting on the tailgate of the truck, then went on the hike. We stopped at several crossings on the way out and did some photos of the stream and stuff. It is such a pretty area!

Coming home, I convinced Tom I needed a crochet hook from Hobby Lobby...so we stopped. I also found three balls of yarn I need to make a blanket for another new baby! ;) He just shook his head....

So now we will probably either swim or shower, then head over to Los Arcos and have some dinner. I will get either Bruchetta del Mar, or Poblana Chili Rellenos. I may try chicken fajitas...have not decided, but it will be legal and Tom always tells them NO CHIPS! Yay, Tom! Cause I often fall to the temptation!

BOB: My recommendations for vitamin C will give you 3000mg a day, to Gator's 2000. You can't get too much vitamin C. Your body will dump whatever you don't need. Everything we have read ( that is me, and my in house biochemist, Tom) suggests its a good idea to take C frequently through the day. Twice would be minimal. Crank it up! C is really important to the immune system, and you surely need the help right now. I use a seven slot vitamin organizer too. I got one at Publix in the pharmacy department that has individual doors for each day of the week. It helps me keep track of my thyroid meds, so I have one for them, and another for vitamins.

HEART: If you are getting really hungry that often, you are probably having some insulin problems. Insulin is what tells you that you are hungry when your blood sugar levels drop. If you eat, then feel hungry too soon, it may be that your blood sugar levels dropped, but not to the point you actually need more fuel. You might want to try adding healthy fats to what you eat, and see if it helps satisfy you more. A handful of nuts will keep me several hours, and a breakfast of two eggs, with a tablespoon of macadamia oil, or almond oil, keeps me from being hungry for the whole morning, and then some! You are doing great! I hope you see that 169 on Monday! Talitha is on vacation. I don't remember how long she said she would be gone, though.

TONI: I am so sorry about your little dog. Its so hard to lose a pet, and such a hard decision to put them down. <<hugs>>

PANCHO: It will be interesting to hear what they have to say about all the monitor thingies...

Hey, where are these MISSING folks???: Country, Thinwithin, Fruit, .....come on, you guys! We miss you!

I just came back from my weekly grocery shopping at Publix and I am exhausted. I am really tired today from not sleeping well the last few nights. I think my body is starting to train me to sleep less, just like with Jess's pregnancy.

Eating has been okay today, nothing terribly illegal so far :)

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 1 fried egg, 2 small sausages and 1 cup of milk.

Snack : 1 slice of cantelope.

Lunch : Sauteed chicken with brussel sprouts and 1 baked sweet potato.

Snack : 1 small whole grain Quaker oatmeal (5 grams of sugar) bar while Jess and I were shopping at Publix.

Dinner : Few pieces of Publix mardi gras chicken wings, a big helping of Publix ceasar salad (there are some small pieces of breaded chicken in the salad) and 1 slice of cantelope.

Snack : Leftover ceasar salad and maybe a cup of soymilk.

I won't be doing any replies right now since Jess is here and she is ready for dinner. Will check in later.

OK, My DH and I went out for dinner tonight. First time in almost a month. We did go out once for lunch, but not for dinner. We went to a really fancy restaurant, where all the dishes are avant garde, such as having a pile of rice with the fish on top, and then something on top of that, and with some fancy sauce all around. I tried to be pretty good:
Breakfast--1/2 cup oatmeal with some dried cherries, cooked and with 1/3 Cup skimmed milk
Lunch, 1/4 avocado and some tomato slices stuffed into 1/2 WW pita pocket with lettuce and lo cal mayo. 8 cherries
Snack: 1/2 can tuna fish, 1/2 nectarine
Dinner: taa daa-- mixed greens salad with raspberries and the equivalent of 1 pecan with very light dressing, seafood (1 slipper lobster, 2 large scallops, 2 large shrimps over homemade pasta with some sort of light tomato cream sauce (kind of like vodka sauce). I ate 2 shrimps, about 1/3 lobster and 1 scallop and maybe 5 pasta noodles and some sauce, and that was enough. Then my DH and I shared a dish of vanilla ice cream with berries on the top. 1 glass of wine.

For me, that was pretty good. Normally I would have had an appetizer, then maybe a soup or salad, and then eaten all the entree, and definitely my own dessert. Now I have something left for lunch tomorrow. And didn't eat too much. We'll see how that plays out on Monday.

AAAHHHHH! Dadgum it! I'm so mad at myself right now! No, I didn't have a binge or eat anything illegal, but dadgum it! I ate 3 helpings at supper(I NEVER do that!)that also included 7 trisuits on the side and another LC ice cream sandwich for dessert!!!! I totally went and screwed it up! Okay, okay. I'm back to my senses, but still upset. But I'm rational because I know that I'm stopping there before any real damage is done(like a binge). That's why I came and got on the computer to occupy myself and get away from the kitchen. I'm still so mad at myself for eating so much tonight. Well, it's over and done with now(sigh). Tomorrow is another day and a better chance at doing better. It could be worse, right? I might end up doing a 30 minute workout sometime tomorrow afternoon to ease my mind about tonight, it won't be nowhere near enough calories burned that I consumed this evening, but better than not doing anything. Ugh. You can bet tomorrow that I eat protein for my bf. I need something to last longer than a little fruit and yogurt. I think that is where my problems began today. I'll change my menu a bit tomorrow, will up the calories that are planned in the process, but it'll be better in the long run to be legally satisfied than triggering a binge or overeating episode due to hunger. Well, I messed up but hey...I'm still legal, lol. Off to read email...

BOB- It's been storming here on and off all day! I'm sick of the rain.

Heart--Don't beat yourself up. But one suggestion. Why don't you try writing some menus BEFORE you start that day. Then you can plan carefully what you believe will leave you satisfied and not starving. Working from a menu will take away that impulsive eating, and just eating whatever is around. If you work from a plan and try to stick to your plan, perhaps you will have success. Also, try to plan in some snacks that you can eat if you need to.

Good evening...

Jess is fast asleep and I am well rested for the moment :)

Some replies :

BOB : Sounds like you have great advice of vitamins intake from both Monet and Gator, hope you feel better soon. We have rain everyday and next week as well. This is getting quite tiring :(

MONET : I have never been to any other places in GA mountain except Vogel. Dh and I would definitely love to try another place to go in GA mountain, I will definitely check the two places you mentioned. Glad you had fun at the mountain, can't wait to see the pics.

GATOR : Love your mother's day present, what an awesome idea! I am definitely all for throwing put junk!! lol. Dh and I keep saying that we need to go to one of those fancy restaurant and enjoy some gourmet dining but haven't done it yet. I would like to have a good french meal, that's for sure :) Dinner sounds yummy and you did very well. WTG!

TONI : I am so sorry for your loss {{{hugs}}}. Please take care of yourself and let us keep you company.

PANCHO : Do the best you can (which you already have) and that is all you can do. Like you said, focus on one thing at a time like finding out what is causing the heart palpitation first and then the rest. Hope the stress test goes well next week. Keep us posted.

HEART : I have had days like yours where the foods I ate didn't fill me up and I was hungry again. Most of the time, it was my some sort of cravings for me and somehow leaded to hunger. The trick for me is definitely getting some satisfying good fats in (like what Monet said). I would eat a handful of nuts and then wait a little while to see how I feel. Nuts usually help in most ocassion or any solid protein. I usually crave for more starchy carbs and "sugar" when I am hungry but eating a solid protein first will help reduce my need for starchy carb or sugar since I am usually pretty satisfied after the solid protein. I might still eat a little starchy carb but in much small serving than I would if I didn't eat my protein first. Hoope that helps.

THUNDER : Have a good weekend!

Time to call it a night. Chat with you all tomorrow.

Good Evening! Tom and I swam some, then went out for dinner. Like Gator, it was a first time in a long time outing! We went to our favorite Mexican place that we had a coupon for. ( $$ is tight...the coupon was the only way we could swing it!) I got chicken fajitas, and asked them to not bring the tortillas. I got an extra side of guacamole, and double beans, which Tom ate. I left the sour cream, but ate everything else! :) Oh, and water to drink. We came home and I was not feeling totally 'done' so I ate an avocado. Tom had some chocolate, and we both had a mug of decaf espresso.

I wanted to share one of my pictures from this afternoon. This is the rapids on Blood Mountain Creek, right at the bridge we crossed. I will post a few more later, as I have not finished processing the pix yet.

Good night! Talk to you all tomorrow!

GOOD VERY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING ALL YOU "BUSTIN BUDDYS" !!!!!

The past two nights, I haven't been able to sleep during the night. Must be the medicine that I'm taking for this crud! I seem to fall asleep during the eveing hours and then that's enough and I have to get up! I've been up since around 2 a.m. I'm watching "MILLION DOLLAR BABY" right now and it's a wonderful movie...I suggest anyone to get it.

I'm taking y'alls advice on the vitamins...I'll get everything today when I go to the store. I prefer the NOW brand as they are cheaper.

GATOR....I looked at that site. Man, there is a lot you can do on there. I'm going to play with it a little more after while...Did you get any of the storms on Saturday that we got? The lightening was so intense and the thunder sounded like bombs going off!

I've orederd the VOLUMECTRICS book. My whole problem is PORTION CONTROL! http://bestsmileys.com/eating1/14.gif and if I can get that under control then I've got that much licked! http://bestsmileys.com/eating1/15.gif
I know why I'm fluffy, I just plain love food....http://bestsmileys.com/eating1/11.gif I just need to get control of the urge to eat! http://bestsmileys.com/eating1/9.gif

Hello everyone. Well I made it at the end of the week. Ive had little spurts of being able to be on the computer this past week or so. Dad has been in and out of the hospital twice this month so far and finally we convinced him to get in the hospice program. He has been home since Thursday from the last stay in the hospital and things are not well at all. I spent the night Friday( my sister in law spent the night last night) trying to give my mom a break in order to get some sleep because he needs care around the clock. We are just taking things day to day. He is very confused one moment and demanding and wanting to take charge the next. Its very very stressful on my mom. I dont know what this next week will hold being I will be at work all week and cant help as much. Hospice is wonderful but they dont have the staffing to have a nurse come everyday ( at least not until the very end).
So that is where most of my time has been spent.

Eating is going great. Another pound down this week for a new low number. Im so hoping to be under the 200lb mark by the end of summer. 11 pounds to go to hit 199.

My dd and her husband took us to dinner last night for my birthday to a Japanese resturant. Wow , what wonderful food. They ordered a bunch of the rolls..with rice , seaweed and different things in the middle. I ate caviar and didnt even know it ! ( probably good I didnt know while eating ) lol.

Toni- Im am so sorry to hear about your doggy. I know that is very hard and heartbreaking. ((((hugs))) for you.

Monet- cant wait to see more pictures from the mountains.

Hi to everyone else. Hopefully Ill be able to get here next week.
God bless !

CINDY,
We were posting at the same time. I'm so sorry to hear about your Father, but you're right, you just have to take it one day at a time. Just know that we're here for you and that we love you. http://bestsmileys.com/hugging/3.gif

Just a fly by...I wanted to post a few more pictures from our excursion into the woods yesterday.

These are pictures of the path, and Waters Creek and Blood Mountain Creek, which come together just up from the picture I posted yesterday, which contributes to the rapids. Waters Creek is a trout trophy stream, you can't keep anything smaller than like 18" or something...whatever it is, its large. It doesn't stop the trout fishermen...they are out there looking for that one big one... :) The path we took was an old forest logging road. You can see in the picture it is maintained with gravel, even though it is closed to the public. The forest rangers can open the gates and use the road to access the wildlife clearings, and plantings that are all through the area. They plant millet and other grains for the deer. There are also tons of wild buck berries, and blackberries. There are other roads where they have just pushed five feet of dirt up in berms to keep motorized vehicles off them. Its a very lovely area, with little human presence.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures....

Monet: Great pictures...it looks like a beautiful place for hiking!!

Just a quickie. It's hot...and I mean HOT...and it's NOT the dry kind, either. Thank the good Lord above for our new window AC box. It cools the whole downstairs off...but then you go upstairs and remember...Oh, yeah...it's awful outside. So we all sleep spread eagle in our swimsuits under the ceiling fans.

Anyhow...Emily is a very nasty storm, but will probably only effect our friends in Mexico. I guess it's high time that absorb some of the Tropical glory

Okay...off to help hubby mow the weeds in the yard...it's all that grows this time of year

Kris

Oh...and if I'm absent...it's because I'm reading Harry Potter. I'm a closet junkie... ;)

Hello all... Thanks for all the comforting thoughts. Today is better and I'm sure everyday will get easier. I'll be glad to weigh Monday and get this week of eating over. I've done such a horrible job of manageing my food.

SEABERS: Welcome! Why don't you ditch South Beach and just do Sugarbusters? SoBe is just a combination of Atkins and Sugarbusters anyway... Where are you outside of Chicago? I grew up in Oak Park! I have relatives there, and all over Chicago.

TECH: I am glad you like the pix! It was a lovely area...

TONI: It will get better! And you CAN do this. <<hugs>>

BOB: I am assuming you are sleeping...at least I hope so! I purchase a lot of NOW brand vitamins. They are reasonably priced, and good quality. The only one you need to be picky on is the fish oil. If you can find the Carlsons, and they probably sell it at Whole Foods, get it. Its mercury free, and rigourously tested for potency. It also does not 'talk back' as much as others I have tried.

 Gotta go!

BOB--I have used NOW brand vitamins, and you can get them easily at any HFS. and I concur with Monet on making sure your fish oil is tested for being mercury free.

Cindy--We all are really sad to hear of your dad. You've done so great through this hard time. Unfortunately for humans, times of difficulty are times of inner growth, so in a way, difficulties are not SO bad. Just sad sometimes. Too bad we can't grow as well when times are hunky dory! Anyway, we care about what is happening and how you are doing. Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

Monet---GREAT pictures.

Seabers--Check us out. We are a great group. I agree with Monet. If you have passed the first two weeks of S. Beach, then you are doing Sugar Busters.

Well, it is turning out great that this is the week for MMM!!! Because I am going to a birthday celebration this evening at 6 pm. Not a good time for having dinner beforehand, and that means that there will be snacks galore to tempt me. BUT, I am gonna eat beforehand anyway, probably a big salad, and then take some perfectly flavored iced tea. That way, I can face MMM with confidence.

See y'all tomorrow.

Quickie- Gator- I DID have a menu(blushing)! Alright, I weighed this AM and didn't gain(thank goodness), still the same. I SOOOOO hope that I will see 169 tomorrow. I slept late and missed church and also ate a late bf. I did a 2 mile WATP when I awoke first. Then I had 2 eggs, 2 sl bacon, and a cup of skim milk. That protein has helped today! What a difference. But I didn't eat until 10:40. I was at Walmart and started to feel just a little hungry but it was too late to eat a regular meal because I'm fixing to cook supper in just a few minutes and will be eating around 5, before church this evening. So I tried the new SBD meal replacement bar(210 cal, 6 g fat, vitamins added), and it was pretty good and did the trick. For supper, I'm grilling chicken breasts on the Foreman and making grilled chicken salads(big) for everyone. They will include chicken, veggies, cheese, and dressing, yum. So my appetite is under better control today. I'm still having daily fatigue and bought a bottle of Vitamin B-12 2000mg(the most I could find). I'll start taking one a day tomorrow with all the rest of my supplements. I also take a multi-vitamin, calcium, C, E, fish oil, melatonin at night(1 mg), and 1 gingko bilobo(my shortterm memory sucks), man that's alot!

Just got in from church and nibbled on left overs for dinner. I had some chicken salad, and a handful of nuts. Earlier I ate a tomato with some homemade mayo. Tom experimented this morning and made us some creamer. He used 1% milk, and some macadamia and almond oils and put it in the blender. It was not too bad...with some work it might be a great non saturated fat substitute for heavy cream in our espresso!

HEART: To make you feel better about supplements, here is what I take: Morning: 1000mg L-Carnitine and L-Arginine, at Breakfast: 200 mg alpha lipoeic acid, 200mg chromium picolonate, fish oil, 1meg C Lunch: alpha lipoeic acid, fish oil, Dinner: 2 calcium citrate, E, C, evening primrose, fish oil, Coenzyme Q10, B complex, black cohash, Twinlab daily one multi, and another chromium picolonate. Then right before bed, I take 1500mg arginine, and 500 carnitine, and I am supposed to take glutamine, but I have not gotten it yet! I decided to give the Rosedale program a month, and I would do it totally supplements and all...and he has quite a list! I hope it helps! :)

GATOR: I hope you were able avoid temptation tonight! Remembering its MMM has helped me some this weekend.
