Claire (Artist), I know you live in London, please check in soon and set our minds at ease. I've been checking the profiles of our other 100lb. club Brits and as far as I can figure, everyone else is well outside the city.

I'm so thankful for the internet ~ I've been able to get hold of many of my relatives (especially my aunt and cousins who are very close to Tavistock Square) to determine they're safe and sound.

Sending out love and best wishes to everyone at 3FC (and their families) who may be affected by this disgusting act of terrorism. :(

I'm still awaiting news of my friend who lives near Aldgate. There's no answer when I phone. :( Statistically, the odds are in her favour, but I'm worried nonetheless.

My heart goes out to all those affected by this disgusting attack.

@toofatfish: Learned on the BBC that phones lines, especially the ones used for mobile phones are bieng used in priority by emergency services. It is therefore possible that phone communications may not work properly.

Thanks for that info, frenchie. I'll just have to be patient.

Absolutely fine, nowhere near London. Pretty much everyone I know in London seems to have been accounted for, which is great, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm sure a lot of people have been affected and are hurting tonight.

Praying that everyone we know here at 3FC and everyone they know and love are safe and sound.

This is just so horrible...reliving this nightmare.
I'm so sorry for anyone this has touched!

I do hope that Claire is able to check in soon. Jilly, I'm glad that you found out that your family is safe--I imagine it was a heartstopping time for you.

My thoughts are with all the people of England today as they deal with this tragedy. My daughter, who is 21 and in the military in the U.S., is still young enough to ask me why people do such horrible things. It's difficult not having a good answer for her.

Hi guys

Thanks so much for all your prayers, thoughts, and concern.

Jill, Sheila - thanks for thinking of me. I am fine. Well, very shaky to be honest. I had a very lucky escape - I was in a conference in a hotel very close to Edgeware Road station, where one of the bombs went off. I missed the incident by about 10 mins, and quite honestly, I just feel very fortunate. I travel around London a lot by public transport, and my office is right by Kings Cross, which was where another of the bombs went off. All my family, friends, work colleagues are OK, for which I thank God. I spent the morning in the basement conference rooms of a hotel, and we were told that this was a designated safe site, and were asked not to leave the area. In that truly bizarre British stiff upper lip spirit, we just ploughed on with the conference - after a break for people to make calls etc. Sounds hard hearted, but I guess it stopped people from panicking and worrying. After lunch, we were told it was safe to leave the building, so I found some people who live in North London, as I do, and off we went......well, there was one false start, since all the roads heading North were cordoned off, but after another hour or so, they opened. We walked for about two hours, and then I got lucky and found a bus.

My thoughts are with the families and friends of people who have so tragically lost their lives, and I really appreciate the care and concern from my friends over the pond!

Thanks for thinking of us and checking in, Claire! Glad to know that you and yours are safe, although my heart is breaking for those who weren't as fortunate. :(

Try to relax (perhaps a glass of brandy might help if a cuppa doesn't). Two hours of walking takes care of your exercise for the day. :) Take care.

Thanks for your concern, Sheila. It means a lot to have your support right now!

Jill - yup, you're right, I have definitely done my exercise for the day! ;) Actually, my legs are seriously aching.......Hmm, its not too easy to relax, but I am working on it.....the brandy is a good thought... :) . I assume then that you won't be slapping my wrists for excess alcohol consumption when I post the odd glass or two on the journal buddy thread? :D :D :D

Oh, Claire, I'm SO relieved that you're safe and well....and HOME! I immediately thought of you. I'm just heartsick over what your country is going through now. It's absolutely awful. I've seen the word "disgusting" used twice so far, and I'll make it a third: The terrorism that we're seeing around the world is such an absolutely disgusting way to try to make a point.

It breaks my heart. :(

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and I'm very happy to hear that you and yours are well and accounted for. I fully support the use of brandy as a means of relaxation for you today. I'd say that's a fine idea.

Okay, okay, I'll allow a little alcohol ... but don't try to pass off Pringles as "stress relief"! :s:

Sarah - thanks so much for your support. I hope that you are bearing up (that's a good british stiff upper lip phrase if ever there was one! :) ) Have not gone for the brandy quite yet... ;) ..am currently on the low fat hot chocolate drink.....am gonna have a snorter of brandy later to send me off to sleep ;) ;)

Jill - funny you should mention the Pringles    . Its true, I have thought of them too....luckily my legs are sufficiently sore from the walk home, that the thought of removing myself from the sofa, and going out to the shop to purchase said Pringles is just way too much effort :dizzy: :dizzy:

Its hard, though, to know that people are in so much emotional and physical pain across London tonight, and not to be able to do anything about it.

Can't say I'm looking forward to getting back on public transport tomorrow, either, but Life Goes On.......

I'm so glad all of our London friends are alright. Just a sickening turn of events - I was up late last night and it was breaking news at that point - I was so sad going to bed.

Hugs going out to our friends across the Atlantic.

I too am fine - although I was getting worried for my brother and best friend who both work near Russell square, but thankfully both are safe and well. I think it's very easy to say 'we have a stiff upper lip' about it all when we have not lost loved ones or suffered terrible burns or had our limbs blown off, or even just witnessed it all. Many people will have completely gone to pieces and will never be the same again - it is a truly terrible business

I just thank God that all my family and friends are safe and well.

Love Amanda x
