Hi guys! I guess I get to be the lucky one to start this new July thread.
Curvychick--it sounds as if you are just kicking butt and taking names with the weight loss-I'm so proud of you! Skokie is just a stone's throw away from my office in Chicago--next time I'm up there, I'll holler at you.
Dora-hope you had fun in Meridian--I saw a faint glow in your direction Mon nite; I'm sure it was the fireworks from your family! :) Schlitterbahn (sp?) will have to wait about 50lbs or so--I just can't do the public swimsuit thing yet. But one day we'll meet there and glop on the sunscreen and float ourselves all day!
Welcome to all the newcomers (and you lurkers too!)--even tho we all can't post as much as we'd like, we do get here eventually!
Horseback riding update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of you may remember that my short term goal was to hit 250lbs by our Estes Park, Co vacation at the end of June. I really, really wanted to be able to ride a horse with my 10 year old son. Firstly, I'm proud to tell you that I hit that goal! :D Secondly, let me tell you that I NEVER NEED TO DO THAT AGAIN! My caboose was sore for 3 days afterwards; the romance of horseback riding must only happen on the beaches of Hawaii, not the mountains in Colorado. I let my son go alone on the next day's ride. Lord, my bottom hurt! And I'm pretty sure Bill the horse was OK with me not coming back! :)
But the important thing is that I DID IT! This short term goal thing is where it's at--gotta get me a new one! Maybe something I can do by Christmas.
I'm thinking something shiny and sparkly..........I'll have to give it some thought!
I've been OP since we got back from vacation (this past Sunday)---it's been pretty easy since I developed strep throat since we got home. Not too hard to avoid food when every swallow makes you cry like a baby. I gave in today and went to the DR and got the strep confirmation; now I have pencillin and all should be better tomorrow.
I haven't had the time to figure out the weight loss tracker thing that goes on the bottom of my emails, but I promise to do that soon.
Let us hear how you all are doing-------good or bad, it helps ALL of us to hear your story!

Hi,
Thekidsmom, wooo hoo You made your goal! Congrats!!! You are doing awesome. It feels so good to acomplish the mini- goals, I know they are working for me too. My next goal is to loose 50 lbs by Labor day. I am sorry to hear you are under the weather, the meds work pretty quickly, you'll wonder why you didn't get them sooner. I will be looking forward to hearing from you next time you are in Chicago. :)
I was good and OP today. I walked the office deposit into the bank during the day, then hit the healthclub after work and did 45 min. of sweaty cardio. I feel like a whooped puppy tonight. I think I'll hit the sheets early tonight. :tired:
Talk to you all soon,

"Hello everyone. I've been lurking for awhile and decided to finally bite the bullet and join in. I'm a 40yr old mom of 2 boys (7&9), married to a wonderful supportive guy. Need to loose 119 lbs, joined WW yesterday and already feel like giving up. Hoping to get and give support here."
I'm so glad you've found this group! I lurked for awhile too. I'm so proud of you for joining WW! To me, the hardest moment was walking into that meeting, filling out the paperwork, assuming that everyone was looking at me thinking, "well thank GOD she's finally at Weight Watchers!". Of course no one was thinking that (otherwise they would have caught on fire, right?).
Don't give up yet--give it a few weeks--it took you a long time to gain your extra weight! The secret for me staying focused (6months now) has been short term goals (25 lbs, or riding a horse, etc). I think that's one of the reasons I haven't posted the sliding scale of my weight like everyone else. I'm afraid to see how far I have to go. As far as I am concerned right now, I'm only working on 25lbs--once I hit 225lbs, I'll re-evaluate.
Are you starting out with CORE or Flexpoints? I just can't get motivated to do the CORE--too many years of focusing on points!
Welcome to the group and hang in there!

Thanks for the welcome TKM, I've done WW in the past and also can't get away from counting points so that's what I'll do for now because I'm comfortable w/ it. It's true that when I look at my long term goal I cringe. I'm at the point where I'm just going to take it 1 day or 1 moment at a time. I've made a commitment to myself to stick w/ WW for 6 months No Matter What. I just felt down because of a comment that a family member made to my kids about me. I'm feeling better after reading posts. Thanks again

Hi cruisin,
Don't you dare let anyone put you down!!!
You can do anything you set your mind to. I've said it before, and it's held true for me every time i've started, (which has been many times,) the first week is the hardest, then after you start seeing results it gets easier. After that, every time you pass up something you know is not OP, you get stronger and it gets a bit easier.
Soon you will feel like, YES, I CAN DO THIS!!
Please don't give up. I know you can do this.
I have started many times, and this time I really want to make it to the finish line.
We can do it together.

Morning everyone! So glad I found you! You guys are doing great and your stories are so inspiring! Welcome cruisingmom! I am doing WW and counting points - However..........I agree it is a pain counting points, but I think I am benefiting more because I am writing down and seeing what I eat. Also I get on here several times during the day and WOW is this a great motivation! It's like I can't wait to read the new threads and posts! Well gotta scoot for the day, I have to get ready for work! Everyone have a great weekend and see you later! :)
PS - Lost 11# so far. :D

Hi All,
Congrats MR2, 11 lbs. is terrific!
As I mentioned, the 4th and 5th were a bit off plan with too many points used, but I have been OP, and excercised Wed and Thurs. Tonight we are going out with my sister & brother-in-law for my birthday, which I am really looking forward to. I thought it might be possible i'll have a few too many points tonight, (greek food, my fav!) so I decided to go to the health club and do 45 min of cardio to help with any overages that may occur.
Hope you are all doing well.
Take care,
C

to you Curvy! I hope you have a great evening celebrating. I really miss the great Greek food that we could get in Chicago--Central Texas is NOT known for it's ethnic diversity! :)
I did 60 min of lawn mowing this morning (before it was 101 degrees!). I was so sweaty that I could have wrung out my bra when I was done........oh my TMI, huh? Regardless, I paid for the wine I had with dinner last night.
Hit Fuddruckers today for lunch with a friend and had the kids cheeseburger; alot of points, but darn well worth it-- having veggies for dinner. I've realized that I must MINIMALLY (sp?) feed my cravings--if I don't, I'll end up eating the stuff I eat INSTEAD of the desired food, as well as eventually eating the desired food too! It's less points and much less emotional trauma if I just give in (within reason) from the get go. As long as I'm counting those points and staying in range, I'm ok! I've felt much less deprivation this way and I feel like it's more of a lifestyle change that I can continue long term.
Cruising-I'm glad you are feeling better; sometimes once you just say/type your struggles, you've lightened the load.
Ram--good job on the 11# loss!

Hi everyone!
I (re)joined WW today- the twist is I'm doing it online this time. It wasn't necessarily planned that way, but Today was The Day, so when i couldn't find the meeting near me, I just buckled down and joined online. :) So far, so good. I have almost 200 pounds to lose, but I'm focusing only on my 10% right now- I want to hit that by my birthday on Sept. 19! :D
I was completely OP today- even earned a couple of activity points walking the dog. Yay me!
TKM, my best friend just joined WW in College Station, and is going to Schlitterbahn this month. She's a brave girl to go to the Land of Temptation so soon after joining. :)
I look forward to talking to everyone! Have a good day!

Hi Freedom! Congrats on joining WW today; I've never done the online thing, so it will be interesting to hear your comments.
My husband and I are Aggies, so we are very familiar with College Station---too many long nights there! :)
There was an article in the Waco Tribune today about 'tips and tricks for Schlitterbahn'......nothing really new--just common sense. I'm hoping to go there next summer--I just can't go public in a bathing suit, or even shorts until I'm under 200lbs. I know that's psychotic, but it's my own little hangup!
Good luck to all of us this week!

Hi all! My name is Kimberly, a 21 year old college student from Texas. I joined the WW program last Tuesday. So I've almost completed my first week! and I can't believe how easy it has been so far! (We'll see how it goes when I have my first weigh in on Tuesday. haha) Anyway, I am so glad I found this forum because you have fired me up! And Curvychick, all I have to say, is WOW. :D Congrats to everyone. I actually have 100 pounds to lose but only listed my goal weight as 170 on my tracker. I consider that my acceptable weight. Anything below that is going to be so great! I am starting at 253.4. You know, skinny people don't understand that when you start out with a number like that, 225 feels skinny. haha But anyway, I'm rambling....thanks to you all! Look forward to posting and reading more from you all! Gotta go get my rest....My first workout at Curves is tomorrow morning...I'm ready to pump some iron! lol

Morning everyone and welcome F&L and Kimberly! Good Luck - YOU CAN DO IT!
Woooosh.....made it through another weekend! They are the toughest for me because my husband is home and it seems all we do is run! Which usually means FAST FOOD! We did go to Burger King Saturday and I got the garden sald and added the "grilled shrimp". It was very good. Also made a DQ run with him, the kids, and my in-laws! I took a diet ice tea and drank that while they downed the ice cream. Friday I did get a baby cone, but still came within my points! :cb:
Well the boss is on vacation so I am filling in everyday this week so if I want paid I better get to work and get payroll faxed in!
8 days till vacation for me! Yipppeeee :cp:
Take care and everyone have a great day!

Hello everyone.. Doing WW. I just started it last week. I was doing well on the program too.. and then the weekend hit!
Didn't have that great of a weekend as far as the program is concerned. Went to the movies with hubby and had popcorn and soda. Then my husband BBQed and I had 2 turkey bacon burgers... bad girl.. I know. But the good news is that I exercised over the weekend and today.
Tomorrow is weigh in day (Tuesday) and to be honest I am extremely scared to get on the scale tomorrow because I don't want to see it go up although I know it probably will... I feel a little bad about that, but not terrible because I know if I keep exercising and getting right back on track when I mess up that I will see a change.
My exercise is very good. I have been using my treadmill, going to the YMCA and using their equiptment (treadmill, stationary bike), and doing Curves a few times a week. Plus I do Yoga and walk the mile circle in the park.
CurvyChick thank you so much for sharing on the other thread. You really gave me inspiration that I really needed. Congratulations on your 10% goal. Excellent!
SpecialK How did Curves go ? I go at least 3 times a week. I find though that even when I went to Curves 5 days a week I still had to do extra workouts to really loose.
Congrats to everyone for doing so well !

Welcome SpecialK and good luck with Curves tomorrow. Welcome too, to you Lolita!
Lolita, I think you are doing great with your exercise. Every other time I've been on WW, I've started with the diet first, then added exercise. Since those times didn't 'take', this time (back in December) I started with exercise first. I really didnt do WW until April of this year. Once I started working out, I wasn't willing to 'ruin' all that sweating with bad food, so I did cut back and make better choices. THEN I threw in the WW program. MY POINT :) with this rambling is that even tho I wasn't OP back then, I was still losing weight and headed toward a better lifestyle, simply b/c of the workouts---so don't underestimate the power of a good sweat!
Having said all of that, I'm in the middle of a slump--I've got the munchies BAD.........for some bizarre reason, I've had my period for 9 days........it came 12 days early and has moved in for the summer. So I'm tired, cranky and could really use a good glass of wine about 1pm every day! :) I'm counting all of my points, but it's not pretty. Tomorrow, however, is another day.......it's WI day and I really hope I don't chicken out........

13 hours after my thread ........................ROUGH Day!!!! Did I mention that I work in a candy store!!!! Yep a great big chocolate store and I had a terrible day! AHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :nono: I'm so angry with myself!
I "sometimes" just loose total control when I am there. Then I punish myself by not eating anything for lunch and dinner. This happens like once a week for me!
Sorry for the tantrum.................. :tantrum:

I was one uneasy girl stepping on the scale at WW tonight. Much to my delight I had a loss. 1.4. I have now lost 42.2 lbs.
I am heading out of town tomorrow, Staying at my parents cottage in Twin Lakes Wisconsin until Sunday. Mom, Dad, my Sister and her family will all be there. I went to the Market and purchased food that will help me stay OP. My husband is always supportive. The rest of the family tries too. Vacations are always diffucult, you feel like you want to cut loose while on Vacation. I am going to stay focused on what I really want, and that is to make my next mini-goal, to get under 300. :halffull:
MR2, don't beat yourself up, just pick youself up, and start again tomorrow.
TKM, I get the munchies so bad just before my period starts, I feel like a bottomless pit. I hate getting through those days.
Lolita, thanks for the encouragment, glad what I shared helped. That's what it's all about in here, helping each other reach our goals. We all have setbacks, and successes. That's just life. We just need to keep trying.
SpecialK, can't wait to hear how you did!
Chat with you all again next week.
Take good care,

The Kidsmom,
Well what I feared happend. I gained back some of the weight I lost.. :( The good news is that I am not surprised. When I first started trying to loose in late June. I wasn't doing a very good job with my eating. So frankly, I just probably lost from eating so little. Now that I am doing WW, I am eating more. I have been doing the Flex Plan but I am thinking of switching to the Core Plan. My husband basically said what you did, for me to keep exercising because I will see a vast improvement if I just keep up with my exercise.
Sorry you had a slump. I know what you mean about munchies during your cycle. Same with me! I feel like I need something sweet like cake or cookies around that time. I have those Oreo Thin Crisps that are 100 cals per pack. I am going to try them when it's my time. Or find a low fat cake of some kind.
MeRam2,
Man, you have it rough. I am sorry to hear you had a rough time. Not to lecture but you may not want to skip your main meals... but instead just count the points for the food stuff you ate at the store. I say that because I notice when I skip meals that all I do is gain weight! It's very odd. You could always do the salad thing for dinner and lunch when you have a small binge. That's what I try to do when I have a off program day. I just make a salad with lost of veggies and 1/2 cup of diced grilled chicken for my lunch and dinner.
Don't be to hard on yourself. This weight loss thing has it's ups and downs. We have to get back up.. and believe me I know it's much easier said than done!

Okay, T minus 5 hours until the big weigh in. haha I am going to work out at Curves again tonight before I go to the meeting. Just going to make the rounds of town and get it all done. haha Plus, it will give me more motivation to really work it out tonight. :D I had my first workout yesterday morning and I felt so so so good afterwards. I really love the regime of it and the way it is set up. It is a fun workout. They measured and weighed me. She told me their scale weighs heavy, so I was like great, I'm going to see a bigger number than at WW. But I didn't. A smaller number. Whoo hoo! haha But, we'll see tonight what the true number is. I'm so excited to go. Anyway, talk to you all later when I find out!

YEAH SpecialK! What a great beginning--I'm going to have to live vicariously thru you for awhile, I'm sure. Tomorrow's WI will not be pretty. That's a great 1st week (or any week) loss!
Ram--you are a brave, brave woman to work in a chocolate shop! I would be doing quality checks on everything all the time! :) Do you know how many points are in the 'good stuff'? I've decided that only the 'good stuff' makes me happy and I would rather eat smaller amounts of that than twice as much of the fake stuff. Maybe you can plan a small quality test just once a week? For me, it would be totally unrealistic to NEVER eat chocolate. BTW, the WW 2pt chocolate bars aren't bad. They are teeny tiny, but if I take really small bites and drink milk with them, I do fine. Good luck!
Curvy-way to go-another loss! You are doing so great--I'll have to live vicariously thru you too! I know you will have a great vacation--when we were in Colorado a couple of weeks ago, we went hiking almost every day. Since our kids (10, 5) were with us, we couldn't power-hike (as if that was an option!), but went nice and slow and stopped often to look at plants, animal tracks and take pics. Maybe you can sneak off for some solo walks!
Lolita--don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat---all that exercise has got to have built up some muscles! Hang in there!
Dakota--welcome! I absolutely LOVE your 'race to ONEderland' tag line. That is SO a goal for me..........I can't even fathom my weight not starting with a '2' or a '3'. Once I get there, I truly don't care if I'm at 199.9 for the rest of my life--just breaking thru that barrier will feel amazing.
Good night to you all and good luck this week. Tomorrow is my WI (not today like I wrote yesterday.......antibiotics are affecting my brain!) and I hope you won't hear my screams of frustration from wherever you are! :) But I bet I will get re-motivated--cause I'll be sooooo mad at myself that I will re-commit on the spot! Stay tuned next week!

:cb: SPECIALK way to go!!!!!!!! That is motivation!!!
TheKidsMom - It is really stupid on my part to be working there!
I worked at the police dept prior to that and I thought that was stressful! :stress: Well.............Now I believe this is 10 times as stressful! We don't just make and sell chocolate, we sell TY plush/beanies, and Yankee Candles. So, not only do I eat all the chocolate, I spend all my money on Yankee! haha! Definately not a good place for me to be working. But the atmosphere is so stinkin' pleasant! Well Good Luck on your WI today. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Lolita - Thanks for the advice - definately I will try the big salad with 0 or 1 pt. dressing the next time I do that.
PS - Oh yea............I do take the ww 1 pt. candy to work with me.........BUT...................
And as far as the points for the "real" stuff......it depends, the mint creams are only 2 pts., but the peanut butter cups (my addiction) and the raisin clusters are all around 3 or 4 pts. each. BUT I CAN'T EAT JUST A COUPLE! Once I start it's all over!
Well have a great day everyone!

I'm new to this site. I had a starting weight of 277 pounds about 2 years ago. I've lost down to 265 currently... I'm not losing as fast as I want. I've gotten down to 251 a time or 2, but keep working my way back up.
I'm at WW now for a few months and am trying to get past that road block.
Right now my goal is to break 250 before seeing my liver specialist on Aug 4. (I have a chronic liver problem which weight loss is recomended for)
I look forward to getting to know you all.

Wow!! It's been waaaaay too long since I read the threads or posted. Or watched my food intake....
Howdy and a big wave to all y'all new chicklets. WW is such a great program. It's really just "normal" living. <sigh> but I'm so much above normal....:-)
Been way to crazy at work - mostly mentally. In fact, the last time I posted in late June was right before I wanted to kill my boss with my own bare hands. It was the first really crazy hormonal menstrual cycle I ever had. Since then I have seriously considered quitting and going back to school and taking much better care of my home. Long story there, now I just have to get up the gumption to give notice.
On a good note, I've been to the gym 4 times this week -woohoo!

***QUESTION - Does anyone have the booklet with the "allowed" points for your weight? Howdy all!!
Jeanne -I have some extra weekly journal from 3 years ago -they indicate the point spread to be 22-29 for the weight range of 175-199.
This is from when you could count all of your fiber against the total calories. And when carrots and onions were considered FREE veggies. So, being old school, I figure they're still free in my book. :smug:
Really, how many folks truly gain weight because of overeating carrots?
Dakota, I don't usually do home cd workouts, but this one intrigues me. Could you tell us a bit more about how your personal trainer works?
WTG, Curvy Chick!! And it is NOT SILLY to feel svelte. Or Skinny, or lean, or strong, or sexy, or beautiful. You have done a lot of work and accomplished great good for yourself. Plus, your clothes are literally hanging off of you. So go ahead and enjoy the new you and re-focus on the upcoming version. :bravo:
Wow, there are so many cool ladies on this thread. I just have to keep reading and learn more about you all.
Tina, welcome aboard.
And about the chocolate shop employee - :fr: Good luck with that. I'd be having to take lots of strong mouthwash and my toothbrush to work.
And, speaking of work, I actually quit my job Friday. It took me all week to do it cause I love my boss. He is mentally ill and really should not be trying to run a business. But a special person pointed out that perhaps I am abetting the situation by trying to cover for him all of the time. We are still friends and he asked me to stay until Aug 12 to cover a co-worker's vacation. Which is fine, but I keep kicking myself for not doing this in June and having some of the summer left with my daughter. Whatever.
So, now I am making a mental list of all those small home projects that can be finished. And saying goodbye to the collection of dust bunnies -if anyone wants em, speak up now.! :dizzy: And planning to either hit the gym harder (now that my time won't be limited to early mornings) or add the 3 mile walks that I used to do years ago. And perusing the community college offerings for the classes I want to take. Nothing strenuous, just several outlets I would like to sample. Aaahhhh, and the joy of having the house to myself. :twirly:
Here's a fun thing: I just bought a Soda Club carbonating machine. I've been trying to kick the "coke" habit for years. The amount of artificial sweeteners I've ingested since high school would probalby kill a lab rat family. And, now that my unemployment is looming, I figure saving a bit of money in the long run would be nice. Anyhow, the starter kit comes with a large canister of C02, the machine, two pop bottles, and a 12 flavor sampler pack of syrups. Doh, I didn't realize that there weren't any diet ones in there, but that's ok.
This thing fits under my cabinets, was easy to assemble, and we made lots of soda right away. So far I have a 2 liter bottle of sparkingly water in the fridge, waiting for my kid to flavor or for me to just drink plain.(crushed limes are good, too) The CO2 cartridge is supposed to be enough to make 110 liters of soda -probably less for me as I really like lots of fizz. And, a 12 pack of diet DDr. Pepper cans costs at least $2.50 and only lasts a week. I realize that I spend hundreds of dollars each year on just my own soda intake. So, if I actually use this contraption, the initial cost is covered in less than a year. If my hubby and kid find flavoring that they like, then it pays for itself that much faster. The replacement cartridges are only $20 at my local store. If you are interested, surf sodaclubusa.com -there's a list of dealers or you can order online.
Sorry for the novel. There's more to come when I actually leave the ole job and turn to you ladies for my support system. LOL, I was using this site and losing before I went to work. Been there a month shy of 5 years now and have lost and then re-gained way too much fat.
Good news, I did go to the gym 5 days last week. Hurray! And didn't totally pig out yesterday. Hurray!
Have a super day, ladies. I"ll see you soon!

Dakota, I don't usually do home cd workouts, but this one intrigues me. Could you tell us a bit more about how your personal trainer works?
well, it's called Yourself fitness, and is available for PC, Xbox, or PS2. Basically it has this trainer, named maya, who evaluates your fitness level at the beginning, and then designs workouts for you. There is over 500 different exercises on the program. You can choose a focus and work toward that, or go with whatever Maya chooses as your focus. It also included a meditation garden where you can do a yoga workout as well. She also lets you adjust the difficulty level of the workouts if it's too hard or too easy. I'm loving it, and am very glad I spent the $30 for it. You can also use weights, a balance ball, a step, and a heart rate monitor in conjunction with it, but you don't have to. However I'd recommend getting the balance ball and hand weights because it gives you more viariety in the workouts, esp upper body. The website on it is www.yourselffitness.com and I believe it has a free workout if you'd like to see what it's like.
I love it, and it's cheaper than a gym membership!

Now where did I put that motivation??????? I know it's around here somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 cities in 2 weeks.........I'm so glad I'm home (for at least 3 weeks!). But I think I gained 3 or 4 lbs.....no time to work out, and eating odd things at odd hours. So I'm gathering up whatever motiviation I've got left and recommitting to WW........I'm so close to 250lbs, I just can't stand it!
I've been reading all of your posts to catch up and I'm feeling the waves of motiviation beginning to roll over me.......my WI is on Wed, and I'm going to deal with whatever the scales tells me.
I don't feel out of control, I just don't feel that I'm being pro-active like I need to be to be successful. My 43rd bday is Friday and I had hoped to have my 250lb 'prize' by then (charm bracelet)---I'm sure hubby and the kids will still buy it, but I won't consider it MINE until I hit that 250 mark. My first non-food related reward.......what a concept!
I'll give you an update on Wed, whether it's good or bad! :)

Welcome back Thekidsmom! Ahhhh, sounds like it has been hectic! Good luck with your WI! What a great accomplishment so far and Happy Birthday!
Dora - Thanks for the info! My stuff is from the old book as well! My daughter is on her 3rd day. She has done awesome and seems to be very motivated and excited! Oh.....and.......I'm the "chocolate shop employee" - Had a terrible first day back after vacation!!!!! I can't stay away from the stuff! Grrrrr! I will have a salad for dinner tonight and I am going to exercise some of that chocolate off this afternoon!!!!! You know what really gets me.........I know when I'm "pigging" :ink: out that I'm going to pay for it over dinner and I'm going to work that much harder with exercise............but I do it anyways!!! Sighhhh! Oh well..........back at it effective immediately!!!
Soooooooooo - how is the Soda Club carbonating machine working??? Very interesting! Good luck! They say soda (coke, pepsi, mt. dew) is one of the hardest things to kick?!?!?
Well, gotta do dinner and run my youngest to gymnastics!
Everyone have a good night! :)

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum, too. I did WW before my first daughter was born and loved it. I have been steadily gaining weight ever since. My wonderful husband and I talk occasionally about going on a diet and agree that yes, we need to do something about it... but we never actually do anything about it. I think we are both waiting for the other one to push the "Start" button. Well, now I'm 265 pounds and I'm tired all the time and am uncomfortable, I hate my pictures, and I am starting to outgrow my jeans and I REFUSE to buy the next size up!!! So I am pushing the "Start" button NOW!
We can't afford to do the real program right now, but I'm going to dust off my points books and find my slider and get going. I'm SO thankful I found all of you!
~ Marylyn
P.S. Regarding my user name, I was eating carrots when I signed in. I actually like rabbit food. :-)

Welcome Rabbitfood! Congrats on hitting the START button! I, too, waited for my husband to agree to join me for a number of years........finally I just had to make this work and started out on my own. Now, if he doesnt like what I've made for supper, he's welcome to find something else in the kitchen. But, for the most part, he just makes a face at the veggies and eats them anyway! :)
I'm happy to say that in the last 4 weeks, I ONLY GAINED .8lbs! This is a HUGE accomplishment! Between our vacation, then 3 back to back business trips, and no time to work out, I truly feel successful. I hadn't been trying to lose for the last 4 weeks, just maintain. It was a stressful month on the road, and I felt if I tried to count points, or focus on the food, I would lose what was left of my mind. So I made the best choices I could each meal. I'm a happy girl tonite!
Tomorrow morning I will get up early and mow the grass b4 it gets too hot here--a 'cold' front has moved thru and the morning is promising to be cooler. But I'll still sweat like a pig! I wonder if I'll sweat less when I weigh less?
Dora--have you tried the WW 1pt chocolate/caramel bars? They are SO not in the league of the real chocolate at your shop, but they aren't bad (as long as you don't compare them bite for bite). With chocolate (and pop tarts as previously posted!) I'm an all-or-nothing gal--much like an alcoholic. Once I have one, I have to have them all! So I just don't buy them---I truly feel your pain working every day! Good luck tomorrow.
Well, ladies, thanks again for listening to me rant, and posting your own successes and failures--it keeps me going! Good night.............

Welcome aboard Rabbitfood!!!! Good job taking that first step! WE ALL KNOW how hard that is! :beach: Here's to success!
TheKidsmom - Nice! lol! Lack of chocolate!!!! That was a good one! Hey, I'm so glad to hear only a 0.8 gain! Woohooo.........thats probably just water. :D Thats what I always say anyway!
Dora - I'm taking mouthwash and gum with me today!!!! I am nervous about work today..........PMS!!!!! CHOCOLATE!!!!! They kinda seem to go together. :o
Well girls I don't get on the scale until Saturday morning and I'm not sure how it is going to go. I'll let you know. My daughter, Jessica, is on day 5 and still doing great! She says "it's fun"! Okie dokie then! lol! Well, anyways I'm so proud of her for even attempting this! :D She did sign onto 3FatChicks to the Teen Forum and met a nice girl about her age!
Well gotta run............working at 10! Have a great day everyone!

Howdy all!!
I'm getting excited & frustrated the closer my job comes to ending. Excited cause there is so much I can get done -more exercise time, massive overgrown yardwork (did I mention that my yard has 78 shrubs?) finally finishing the 3 paint jobs I started over the years. And frustrated because my boss seems to have done nothing to replace me (I plan to kick him in the rear about it today) and because those undone jobs are calling out to me....
But, overall, I am in such a happy frame of mind again. I've truly missed that.
Dakota, I like this trainer idea. I assume that my hubby & kiddo can do it also? Or is it more of a one-person trainer? Anyhow, it's on the cool things to investigate after August 12th. :D
Jeanne, I hope your daughter enjoys playing with the points. If you like, I would be glad to send her my material. I'm pretty sure I've memorized most of it. :smug: Too bad knowledge by itself doesn't make me fit. Send me a PM and we'll get together.
Here's a few junkfood ideas that helped keep me on track the first time.
Nachos -Baked Tostitos (or the spicy Doritos are good) beans of your choice, just a bit of shredded cheese. Pop under the broiler til the cheese melts. Add lots of free pickled jalapenos and salsa if you like. Mmmmm, salty, crunchy, cheesy, spicy.....(looks in cupboard for ingredients...)
Mini-pizza -split an English muffin, add tomato sauce of your choice (I use the cheapest spaghetti sauce available) Add toppings like free onion bits, mushrooms, chopped ham, and a tiny bit of that shredded cheese. Broil and enjoy.
I think it's a lot more fun to play with the ingredients and see how much free stuff you can get in there. Plus, with an English muffin, a couple of slices of the lower fat turkey pepperoni (hormel) are satisfying, and fairly cheap points-wise. I know I find it very very very difficult to have fewer than 3 slices of "regular" pizza. And that's enough to set the old food plan back for a week! :o
The Soda Club machine is pretty cool. Since one of my goals is to eliminate caffeine and aspartame from my life, I have ordered some of the malitol-based Da Vinci syrups to add a bit of flavor. Right now, I am just enjoying sparkling water with the occasional squeezed lime in it. Yummmmm. Hopefully, the syrups will help me create drinks that the whole family will enjoy. I"m a touch frustrated with how quickly the fizz departs when I re-bottle a drink. Perhaps I need a more rigid bottle to store stuff in. It's fun for now, I just hope it does what I want it to do.
Welcome, dear Bunny! I do love rabbitfood, but now I want a major salad to go with my nachos....I was right where you are a year ago. Shaved off 15 lbs just by going to the gym regularly. Now for the food part....Anyhow, glad to have you here!
Here's something fun that happened to me. I found something "foreign" in my bag of Baked Lays. So, I called the company and they sent me a special envelope to return the remains. And, they included lots of coupons for free Baked stuff and for free Frito-Lay products. Nice. So, after I send back the questionable product, they send a nice letter and MORE coupons. Wow. What a nice boost to the old grocery bill. :)
OOOps! Gotta Run

So Ram, your little Ramette says 'it's fun!'.............??????????? Maybe I was that happy and positive about the program when I first tried it (back in the late 1800's!). I can't say that it's FUN.......I will say that it's rewarding when I see a loss, but FUN? Nope. But, more power to her for jumping in with both feet and a good attitude.
Dora--I can totally understand your excitement the closer the end of your job gets. We recently had a large client leave at the office.....they were very demanding...which would have been fine, had they been willing to pay for the time we were all putting in. Believe me, no one cried as we packed up their files. However, it was disconcerting to see all the work we've done in the last 3 years walk out the door. Just make sure that you don't get 'sucked' in doing more than you should (or staying longer than you should) out of a sense of guilt or responsibility. Tho, based on how much your excitement level is increasing with each passing day, I don't think that's going to be a problem! :)
And I'm dying to know what the 'foreign' substance was in the Baked Lays!!!!!!!
I'm off to have my snack--milk and cereal, dessert of champions. Good Night!

Hi, Jeanne. Once you have made your slider, cut and paste it (highlight it with your mouse, and hit control+C.) Go back to your User CP and choose "Edit Signature." Paste (Control+V) your signature into the box under the sample slider. Then choose "Save Signature." :)
I hope that helps...

...for the bday wishes. I've got 55 minutes left in my birthday day--it's been a great day. I managed to stay OP, wine and spinach calzone included. I scrimped and saved my points all day and I'm very proud of myself.
The hubby and kids bought me my charm bracelet and charm...but since it's what I promised myself what I would get when I hit 250lbs, I won't consider it mine til I'm there.........only 2.2lbs to go. But I wore it tonight and it's lovely and sparkly and all the things gold should be!
I'm sleepy with the 6 points of wine I've had and off to bed now b4 I start rambling..............
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Have a good day everyone. I'll try (really really hard) not to eat any candy today. lol!

Howdy all, and a happy Saturday to you all!
Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday TKMom. And many happy returns of gold charms on thatlovely bracelet. :D
This is a week that I decided on a short-term goal. I found a place that does $20. pedicures -jacuzzi foot bath with salts, massive shiatsu massage chair, multiple types of lovely lotions rubbed on the tootsies, polish, lower leg massage. Ahhhh :smug: . So, when I lose 3 pounds (starting at 251) I give myself permission to get another pedicure.
Jeanne -WTG on losing that #2!! :hat: You don't want that nasty candy anyhow. It just ruins the enamel on your lovely teeth. Leaves a horrid aftertaste. (or is that just me?) Perhaps you could calculate a few candy points in, decide in advance what to have ( and how much) set it aside and have it only when your shift is over. (sings "Anticipation" song under her breath)
As for the foreign object in the chips, not really sure on that point. I certainly don't want to diss Frito-Lay. I worked for their credit union many, many moons ago and got to know how hard those plant workers try to keep everything up to standards. I would guess that it was a burnt bit of skin (potato, that is), but it was fairly large and noticeable. And might not be a bit of potato at all.
Wow, SpclK lost alot, too!! You girls truly rock!! I am getting really inspired. :dizzy:
My boss spent part of yesterday morning analyzing why I want to quit. I love the man, but he is bi-polar and it shows -not violent, but definitely manic/depressive/schizo-adaptivo. I have watched him try to destroy his business for the past 5 years and wonder each day if this is the week that we lock the doors forever. Each year, someone close to himhas bailed him out, not realizing at the time what was really going on. Or that their money was a donation rather than a short-term loan. It doesn't help to rag on him, he just gets more obstinant. So, I repeated what I told him last Friday. That my hubby is working full-time and has two other parttime gigs that eat up huge chunks of time. That I missed spending the summer with my daughter. That I want to take some college courses and catch up on all the household projects that are calling my name. Then I turned the tables on him. And said that it is in his best interest to find someone immediately for my position and not mope around thinking that I will still be on call. That the current duties of the job include more detail than when I hired on 5 years ago and I should be training someone right this minute. He agrees, but he has huge trust issues. I foresee him waiting until August 11th to fill my position. And expecting me to come back after the 12th (my last day) to train. Which I might. He did offer to pay me hourly and a commission to man the remote office that sells our playscapes. He has a point, I am THE playscape guru. But doing that would really not create more time for me, even with the reduced hours it requires.
Sorry for the novel again!! Love you all -have a super weekend!

Hello Ladies! If you don't mind another loser on board, I'd love to join you all. My name is Barb and I finally pulled my head out of the sand last Tuesday and got on the scale for the first time in many months. 239 pounds! <thud> I'm following WW @ Home (but with a twist). The "twist" is that I won't eat something just for the sake of hitting Target Points. Some days I've been ending up with 22 or so and feel fine. I figure I gained this weight eating when I wasn't hungry... Guess this more closely resembles the older Winning Points than the current incarnation. This week my goal is at least 20 minutes a day of walking and two days of free weights. Many pounds ago I was BIG into walking...walked for miles and miles at a time. This weight gain has definitely affected my knees, my feet, and my stamina. So..I'm starting out slowly and will build up to 60 minutes a day walking and weights 3 days a week. That's my plan and I'm stickin' to it!! I'm looking forward to posting here and being accountable to you all (and myself!). Have a wonderful day!
I had my WI tonight, I lost 1.6#. Last week I gained one. I was so devastated. I truly did not cheat. If I had gone off plan, I would have been much more relaxed about the gain. BUt I was OP and still showed a gain. :?:
I stayed after the meeting and asked my instuctor for some advise, she asked me if I was eating the same stuff, which I have been doing. She told me to mix it up, and change my exercise. My body is getting too comfortable, and I have to make it work harder. She even said eat a hamburger. :hun:
At least I had a loss this week. pushing for that 50 mark.
Welcome all the new people. Sounds like we have alot of strong people in here, wooo hoo, and congrats to all the loosers!
TKM--Happy Birthday to you....Happy birthday to you.... :woo: :balloons: My husband Tim gave me a charm bracelet a few years ago too. We get charms for each vacation spot we go to. It's fun to look back and remember special times together.
Keep up the good work everyone.
Take good care

My first weigh in shows a 2 lb. loss. Not bad considering I did pretty much nothing last week in terms of exercise. First and foremost, though, is that I FEEL better. Maybe it's just knowing I'm doing something positive for myself by eating healthily..
The heat continues to bake us here in the Metro DC area. This week I've been out the door at 5 a.m. to get my exercise while it's relatively cool--30 minutes this morning! woo hoo!
**Curvychick-- Don't let a small gain get you down!! You're doing GREAT!! I can't wait until I, too, can claim nearly 50 lbs. lost!! It's hard for me to not throw in the towel 'cause I didn't lose 25 lbs. this week...lol. But this time is different and I will chip away at it ounce by ounce. Over time those ounces add up!
**Hope everyone else is having a great day. Stay cool!
