Hello everyone,
I realized that I use bars as a good substitute snack/quick meal quite frequently, so I was wondering which ones people liked. Since I do WW, I take the nutritional information and calculate the points.
So far, my two favorites are:
Zone Perfect - Chocolate Mint (thanks Sandi) - 5pts
and
Luna - Nutz over chocolate - 3pts
As you can guess, I like chocolate.
Anyone have a favorite they'd like to share??

I love the luna's I like most of them but my fav's are s'mores, dulce de leche, toasted nuts and the tropical which I can't find many places.
I like almost all of the Pria bars (although they don't have a lot of protein). Have you ever tried the Detour bars? They're really good -- taste a bit like a Snickers bar. I recently tried a Slim Whey caramel peanut bar, and I thought it was pretty good, too.

I used to have the liquid equivalent of these Meal replacement bars. I used to alternate between Chocolate / Strawberry Boost shakes.
If i speak in the past tense, it is because i stopped them last week. I realized that this stuff is good over a short period of time to loose weight fast. In the long run however it has negative impacts such as: Weakness, especially if you train a lot; and risks of "binge" due to frustration.....Furthermore, they do not taste so good....medication aftertaste.....

My favorite nutrition/meal replacement bars are: Kashi GoLean Chocolate Peanutbutter or Kashi GoLean Oatmeal Raisin Cookie
Each one is big, yummy, chewy, full of protein and fiber about 280 calories and are perfect for me to have for a meal when at work.

SoyOne bars are really good - I usually only eat half if it's for a snack. Nitro-tech bars are good, too - usually available at Sports nutrition stores. :dizzy:
I also like the Zone bars and the Pria, but I think it's best to go for the higher protein and lower carb bars. :)

I love the Luna lemon bars, and the lime and orange are pretty good, too.

I like the Pria peanut butter bar. And I just tried the Detour bar. Mr friend is really into what gives you the most bang for the buck and recomended the Detour bar. It was good but not any better than the Pria. I don't do these bars much just when I'm out and need something and the only thing that is handy are these. I think there are a lot better choices but they are good when you need a quick meal or snack.

I love the special K bars - not sure if these would be what you are looking for though.
They are 2 pts each

Luna lemon zest followed by the Kashi chocolate peanut butter one
Most of those things are chock full of sugar, however, so I haven't had one in ages.

Although I agree that there a lot better things I could be eating, I need my power bars. There are so many mornings when I don't have the time to sit down and eat and if I don't have anything to eat, I'm ruined at lunch.
My favorite are almost any flavor of the Zone Perfect Bars. My favorite is Fudge Graham and Strawberry Yogurt. I think they have a great flavor and 210 calories with a nice balance of protein and carbs. I also love the cliff bars (and luna) but they tend to have less protein.
We call them Zone Bones in our house because we kept finding these wrappers for Zone Bars all over the house but couldn't figure out where they were coming from. Then one day we caught our youngest dog, Keiko sneaking upstairs. I discreetly followed him. He went to the upstairs closet, checked to see if anyone was watching and then got into the stash, opened them with his paws and chowed down. He had stolen a box out of our groceries and hid them for himself! Pig!

Kashi Go Lean Crunchy Bars in Chocolate Caramel Karma are my favorite. They taste like caramel corn and chocolate, and at 140 cal/5g fiber/8g protein, it's a filling snack.

Wow! Now, I have a whole bunch of new bars to try... I usually stick to chocolate varieties, but some of those fruit flavors sound good.
While I do try not to eat too many bars in a day, they are convenient and I can keep them in desk/gym bag. I guess it's whatever works for you.
Jessica - that is too funny about the dog, I hope it wasn't a chocolate bar, that could have killed him. I could see my dog doing something like that, but he would have eaten them all at once and gotten sick on my bed, he's not too smart.
Have a good day everyone!

Of course, my favorite is the Chocolate Mint Zone Perfect Bar. It has 16 grams of protein, which to me seems pretty good.
I will admit that the 2nd and 3rd ingredients are sugar which isn't a good thing, but they really do the trick for me and at 210 calories, I love them for breakfast.

I've only had the Kashi Go Lean ones so far and those are really good - you guys have given me some great ideas for some to try! I hate the ones that taste vitaminey so I'm always reluctant to try new ones but I'll take some of these suggestions. :) They are a perfect snack sometimes when I'm just starving between meals and need something FAST!
THANKS!

I eat the balance smart(?) carb bars before my afternoon workouts everday, I love the chocolate and the peanut butter. They only have one gram of sugar for the whole bar (most have 10+) and 10 grams of protein.

Beth -
Yeah, I think they were Chocolate Graham but there's A) so little actual cocoa in them and b) Both my dogs are 75 pound Huskies. We've been through the chocolate scare before and the vet just looked at us like we were crazy - apparently it takes a lot of chocolate to kill a dog that size - or at least a sizable amount of baker's chocolate. :)
