Happy 4th of July To You All !!!!

:flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1:

I snitched the above but mean it! Our Canada Day celebrations will continue throughout the weekend and into the Monday. I think half of PA is in town right now! Last night I watched fireworks from a boat out on Big Rideau Lake - fun time!

The weather has changed to a lovely cool and sunny day! I'm getting into the gardening duds in five minutes and am going out to tackle some weeds and cutting back. I have a huge tomato plant that needs to be removed from it's big pot and be planted. Wish me luck! It already has big tomatoes on it so I'll have to be very careful. i think I need tomato bras!

At noon, I need to go to town to serve hotdogs in front of Walmart on behalf of Thera-Paws ( Our official t-shirts are really heavy so I'm glad of the cooler temps.

What are your plans for the weekend? :cofdate:

07-02-2005, 09:00 AM
Good morning all, I just checked the pool and the early morning rain did not cool it off too bad.So I will go exercise shortly and try to beat the rain.
Hubby is workin on a side job today so we will probably get groceries this afternoon and then eat out for supper.Tomorrow we are going to Lowry park so I can take pictures of the animals. Then eat out again. Monday is our anniversary and I wanted to plan something special but money wasn't here right now.So we will go to the movies and then he will grill me a steak for supper. We can see fireworks from our back yard so we will watch them. This is our 13 year married but 20th year since we first started dating. We waited 7 years to get married. We were both married before for 19 years. So we have surpassed the old spouse in time together. The second time around can be the best. I am the luckiest women in the world to have a man who loves me more everyday and accepts me just as I am.Pain in the butt that I can be. He is so good to me.Now if he had a lot of money he would be perfect   He is truly the diffenition of a "good man" I am blessed.
We are suppose to have rain off and on all weekend.I am getting tired of rain everyday but it is better than no rain
Have a wonderful 4th of July and drive safely and try not to eat too much :)
Here comes rain so that takes care of pool exercise.

Ruth: watching fireworks from a boat is the best way! We use to have a 19fter and we would go out to the Ellis Island area (where the Statue of Liberty is) and watch the Macy's favorite memories of this holiday!

Eleni: What a lovely story ...have a beautiful anniversary!

Me: A low key holiday for us. Another Open House weekend..But Monday we plan to take our Kayaks out to Farrington Lake or Round Valley Reserviour fort the day. It's my favorite thing to do! Yesterday my body was complaining... I've been doing 4 mile brisk walks and well, yesterday my legs, hips and back hurt so much by 5 o'clock I was in bed.. I didnt sleep well the night before but made up for it last night until the predicted storm that was due in the day, rolled in around 1'0clock... We were in the middle of it..Torrential Downpour with spectacular lightening and CRACKIN thunder..! It was hitting so close it was setting off all the car alarms.. I got up, opened the blinds, sat in my recliner with my 2 furbabies to watch the show...

Have a great day all!

Hey gang!

Jenn Congrats! :)

Ruth Your weather sounds great- we actually had a bit of a break in our heat wave yesterday.

Schatzi Low key weekend here for us too. DH has to work both today and tomorrow, but he actually has the 4th off. We have no plans as of yet. Fine by me, I am just ready for some down time when we are all home!

Angel Can't remember the last time I weighed in the 130's- you go!! It is always so motivating to drop into a new decade.

I officially rejoined WW this morning. I plan to combine it and SBD- I just need to make sure I am eating fruits and stuff from the get go since I am nursing the bambino. Hope no one minds if I continue to post here as I won't be doing straight SBD.

Have a super day all!

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. Today kicks off the Freedom Fesival here in town, so for the next week or so there's going to be lots of stuff going on.

I went flipping through a bunch of my cooking magazines and found a few yummy looking recipes that are Phase 1 friendly. I'll post them in the recipe section when I get the chance. One is for a vanilla latte... YUM! I'll probably save that one for phase 2 since I'm not drinking any milk on phase 1.

I've been cheating alot the last few days. :( Not proud of myself. I haven't been exercising either. But somehow the scale went down today. I bet it won't be long till it springs back up, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Toodles for now! :D

07-02-2005, 03:40 PM
Hey every one,

I found the daily thread..yeahh :cheer: Ok, so I don't know any one yet, but here goes.

Jenne - way to go on the engagment!

Eleni - Roses wow! I gotta have a talk with my hubby, our 1st year is coming in September.

Every one else, I hope you all have a great 4th. Being that I'm in Portugal it's not celebrated here, :( I really miss the fireworks and the festivaties I use to go to back in Florida. I think there is a community of Americans up nort of here who celebrate, but I'm not sure, I saw something about it on the news this time last year.

Things here are GREAT! I just got my BRAN SPANK'N NEW car yesterday. :cb: We had to wait over 2 months for it, but its worth it. If any one wants to see photos go to (this is my personal home page, but I couldn't find a spot to put it in my profile. Hope this isn't violating any rules here on the forum) In fact if any one wants to know about me and how I ended up in Portugal, check out that site. I'm actually updating stuff so not every thing is working yet, but I'm getting to it.

Hope every one has a GREAT weekend! Abrašos para todos!

Hi Everyone!!

Ruth - Girl you just crack me up...tomato bras :lol3:

Eleni - Happy Anniversay!! Wow 20 roses how wonderful. :encore: My hubby and I have been married for 3 years. First for me and second for him. I also am fortunate to have a very good man.

Schatzi - Hope you and your furbabies enjoyed the storm show last night. My furbabies are such cowards they run and hide in the kennels.

Angel - Congrats on your 139!! :goodscale

Jenne - Congratulations on your engagement!!!! :balloons: :jig: Can't wait to hear all about it.

Brandyns Moom - Can't wait to see your recipes. I'm always on the look out for something new to try. :s:

K@t - Congrats on the new car. Glad you were able to find the daily thread.

I'm sure I missed some of you so to everyone else. Hi and hope you have a Happy 4th.

Me - We aren't doing much of anything this weekend. Just finished spending 3 hours mowing the yard and weeding the flower beds. Talk about a workout. :wl: :tread: Now I am going to go make the Taco bake :T for lunch and then we are going to go grocery shopping. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

07-02-2005, 05:43 PM
Hello all! I don't have many plans for the long weekend, except for to stick to my diet NO MATTER what!:) Today I went out to eat for lunch with a friend at Chili's, and SUCCES...I ordered the grilled chicken and vegetable plate and water instead of what I really wanted, breaded chicken strips, fries, and an oh-so-delicious Chili's chocolate shake with chocolate sprinkles on top. The meal was delicious though, and I've noticed my appetite is now very much under control. I probably only ate about half of what was on the plate, and I was completely satisfied! Yay me! ;)

07-02-2005, 05:52 PM
I know what you mean. The other day I went to McDonalds where I usually want a big box of nuggets with BBQ sauce and fries. I got the grilled ranch salad and was completly filled with it. (drank diet coke) I use to still be hungry after the salad and still want more food, but this time I was totaly satisfied. I think that is a sign of getting the carbs under control. :D

07-03-2005, 12:13 AM

I took Friday and Tuesday off from work, so i have a 5 day weekend. We're not planning much. We have family in the country and we are leaving in the morning for a couple days--fireworks, grilling, drinking
you know the usual.

I feel like I have been cheating the last week but when I look at what I've eaten it is on the list of approved foods. Example, I may have an extra cube of cantaloupe or my dessert treat (if I've been good all day) has become every night instead of a few nights a week. And lately I have had this shake, I found the recipe here, and I'm addicted!!!!!!! I skipped milk at breakfast this morning just because I was planning this shake tonight. Is this normal to feel this way and to look forward to these treats? I haven't lost anything in about 4 days (I'm a compulsive weigher--daily) But that doesn't mean much as long as it doesn't go over a week or two. I just feel pretty guilty eating some of the things listed on phase 2.

Anyway, I hope ya'll have a great weekend and I'll see ya'll later!!!

07-03-2005, 04:58 AM
K@T I looked at your web site.Cute. It sounds like quite an adventure to leave America and go to a new country.

07-03-2005, 05:31 AM
Hey thanks! It really was an adventure, I struggled for awhile when I got here, wondering if things would be diffrent if we had moved to the USA instead. But then I decided I would be better off using all that energy to make my life here better. We really have a lot of great stuff, nice home, I have a new car, and a loving husband, what else could any one want?? I think a lot of the problem was the language for me, when I arrived, I didn't speak a word. Now I'm fluent now so that really helped things a lot. Now, if I could just loose some weight! It's very hard to find clothes over a size 16 or so here. And I'm a 20! and I love to shop for clothes! Double whammy! :dizzy:

Morning all you lovely Chicas!
Angel: :cp: :cp: on 139!
Christian: Enjoy your time with your family
BBum: Where R U? I'm confused by post..all family in the states... or far from Cape CAD? Either way, walkin on the beach must be wonderful
Kiki: Weight Watchers, Sugar Busters, Whatever works love, you can sit next to me on the beach! I use SBD to guide me to healthy eating, Do calorie counting, and use WW for some of the recipes (making it SB friendly :) A combo of things... but at the core is SB healthy eating, Slow carbs, no sugars...etc
Eleni: AWWWW, What a sweet hubby! Wishing you 19x10 more anniversaries together!
GoFISHIN: U were missed with all your :) :o      and I NOTICE U R AT YOUR GOAL WEIGHT...WOOOHOOO 2 SNAPS UP :cp: :cp: GFREN!So catch any fish at that lake??
Brandyns Mom: Enjoy the Freedom Festival..STAY AWAY FROM THOSE FUNNEL CAKES :nono:
K@T: Visited your Website .. You and Hugo look so happy, and You are quite crafty! I do needlepoint and really see the work that goes into your projects... Your STITCH'IN IS B*TCH'IN!!! Good luck with the new car..
ShebasMom: Hi Girl!
CA85: Good 4 U on your willpower :balloons:
Tammy: There's a whole slew of "Scale Ho's" here! Yeah I look forward to my treats too.! Love that Chocolate shake!'

Me: Well we had alot of traffic at our open house..some returnees from last weeks..that's a good sign... yesterday we had a lot of Asians stop by..and you will love this one: I'm out on the patio reading and this Asian lady comes up..puts her compass on the fence thingy.. I say to her we are true south. ok... she's checking... she comes in sits on the sofa and looks out the sliding glass doors "oh you can see the top of the high tension tower" ... yeah okay... she goes up in the master bedroom, takes a compass reading, and I say, we are true east...Ok now she is opening all the closets, peering into the tubs, opening the oven... oh this is truly move in condition...( um, yeah I happen to be a clean fanatic..) NEXT couple, Asian, again, with the direction we are facing and the master bedroom direction.... so I get to thinkin that this must be some Feng Shui thingy... so I look up the meaning of the directions... and it seems that South reflects the future, family life and passion... East reflects contentment...hmm I'm thinking that this could be good or bad... maybe the Bedroom should be south LOL, and the living room East, and maybe that view of the high tension tower isn't tooo much to block :sumo: that CHI...Who Knows  I just found this quite interesting. If anyone out there knows another reason why Direction of certain rooms is of interest or knows something about FengShui, let me know!.
OK, I. Need. CAWFEEEE ... . :coffee:

07-03-2005, 09:26 AM
:) Good-morning everyone and happy holiday weekend to you!! This is day 12 on phase 1 for me and things are still going great :D I have lost 8 pounds and maybe more (I am retaining water so maybe thats an extra # or 2!!) :D Just wanted to say thank you to all the creative cooks who have come up with such great recipes and who have researched different brands and foods to buy that are appropriate for SB. I generally have to take my 3 young children grocery shopping and that doesnt leave time to read many labels  ...I log on here and make my grocery list including brand names and it makes shopping easy!!! I'm also a lucky one on having a Traders Joes just a few miles from my home, they have such great healthy stuff and are very inexpensive..gotta love that :D !! I had the Belgian waffle this morning for breakfast and think tomorrow I will try the chocolate shake so many of you are raving about ;) !! Good luck to all on their SB journey!!! :D
Have a great rest of the weekend!!

07-03-2005, 10:47 AM
good morning everyone!
I am off to go swimming at Hampton Beach..then off to a friends for a BBQ and swimming in their pool...I am staying completly OP today...chicken and burger w/o a bun for me please! I think I am going to cut up an apple and bring some Peanutts for snack if i get hungry....I am not drinking today either...I decided that its not worth all the extra calories especially since the scale did not say 139 this morning..but i am teetering back and forth ..I want to say goodbye to the 140s!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH
So when they go to get booze I am gonna get one of those HUGE bottles of water! .....on a side note..J would never admit it but he went down 3 whole sizes and his tummy fits in his bathing suit...he acts like he doesn't care but has been wearing it since he bought it...and i caught himself checking himself out in the mirror lol
*I cant help but be proud of him*....his Birthday is next week..I want to make him an OP cake..that still tastes really good..any ideas? i will check out the recipes later
anywho have a great days girls!

ps i am not changing my ticker cause i WILL be back to the 130s by next week!!!!!!!!!! maybe even 138 who knows ;)

07-03-2005, 12:42 PM
Hey chickadees! I never made it in yesterday. I wound up having to come to my Mom's cause her DSL was down and the tech said she needed a new ethernet card so I bought one and came to fix only to find there was nothing wrong with hers just her connection files were corupt for some reason! Which my niece had been here all week so I am thinkin she was places she had no business cause mom said she was on when it went out! It was about 9:30 or so lastnight before I finally got it fixed but atleast I can take the card back! Headin back home today. Supposed to go to the lake to watch firworks this evening. DH & DD are goin earlier to ride the seadoos and stuff but not me. Not my thing hangin in lakewater. lol Well now mom's tv has went out this morning so I am gonna run and pick her up a new one and then head south! lol Looks like a lot goin on for the chickies this weekend. Have a great safe 4th all!

07-03-2005, 12:42 PM
Hey Schatzi thanks for the compliment. I'm trying to finish up another blanket I'm doing then I want to move on to another cross stich, so much to do and so little time. So your selling your house? And a bunch of Asians came to check it out? Strange..... I don't know any thing about the orientation unless it was as you said FengShui. But never the less, strange....very strange....

Hey chicks!

Just a quick drive by for me. I've been soo bad that I'm fearful of the scale. Tomorrow is DS's 8th and DF's 65th so I'm in charge of the meal. Since the gourmet cook is coming I've had to rachet it up a bit. But we are having a beautiful standing rib roast and all kinds of goodies.

I'll be crawling back to the beach on Tuesday fat and bloated! For all you chicks being good out there - GREAT JOB!

I went to dinner with the first X hubby last night. It went well. I had a chocolate martini - wow - super yum! He is still incredibly handsome but all the things that I didn't like about him 17 years ago are just worse now.

Take care chicks!

What a day it has been. Just got a short nap and I feel much better.Only slept about 4 hours last night. We got to Lowry Park Zoo when they first opened and good thing we did. They only had 2 motorized carts to rent which amazed me. As big as that place is and as many people who go there I would have thought they would have several. I couldn't have made it walking. I don't know how Bill did it as we were there over 4 hours. We took 5 rolls of film.I better have some great pictures. The animals were great. It is just a big place. I also got a lot of sun too.But we had a great time.
Then when we left Bill knew I wanted to stop at the Pearl Art supply store so he gave me my anniversary card early and it had $50 in it.He already gave me 20 roses and he prepaid for the new Harry Potter book.Plus he spent about $50 at Lowry. So I bought a small metal t-square I wanted and a drawing clip board and a pad of paper. Altho I gave him a $100 to use on his truck I have not gotten him a card yet.
I may just make him one.We were going to put film in Winn Dixie before we got home but we were so wiped out we made a bee line for home. He is still asleep.
When Bill gets up we may go out for supper.Lunch wasn't too good.Chilli dog with no bread. Bill only ate a few bites of his.
Ok That's it.Tomorrow it is rest and see a movie.

I updated my personal journal with this, and rather than "waste" time and re-type it -- I'm just posting it here. So here's the LONG update :)

God, do you know how hard it was to not only keep HB in the dark, but all of you as well? Damn me for letting her read my diary! I had no frikkin' outlet for 3 weeks!

That's when I bought the ring. 3 weeks ago. And I use the term "bought" very, very loosely!

HB has been sick with a stomach virus of some sort since Tuesday, when we went to the doctor. We had planned to go camping this weekend, and I figured it would be a great cover for a proposal -- I've never really been camping so she'd think she was in charge -- until I proposed that is.

I also planted a little seed in her ear for the last few weeks. I wanted to propose via poem, but it would look suspicious if I just came out with one. So we've been coming up with little ditties for the past few weeks -- before we go to bed we come up with something silly like "Roses are red, and so is your head, I love your kisses and I our bed."

I know, dumb.

So I told her to come up with a serious one for Friday's camping and we'd recite them to one another under the stars.

Well, that didn't exactly pan through because she was still sick.

So, we set up camp in the living room. She made up her poems quickly, and grew excited to recite them.

At 9p, we shut off all the lights and she read me hers via flashlight. It was a series of 3 poems that took us through our relationship. I am going to write them out here because I want to keep them forever. She prefaced it with saying she wasn't very good at writing poems, told me they didn't rhyme, and asked me not to laugh.

The Early Moments
I told you I liked you
you said nothing
and my heart sank.
I drove you home,
you said "I like you too."
my heart was in my throat.
We sat on the couch,
touching your skin
make me feel bouyant.
We were alone together
and I touched your hair
I fell in love.
I wanted you.
I wanted to be with you
I loved you

Exploring the World of We
You asked me to move in.
I was scared.
If I said yes
would you tell me it was too soon?
I moved in.
I was joyful.
Our lives seemed to fit.
You said my things fit perfectly with yours.
My things became outs.
Your things became ours.
You and I became we
and I am so lucky that we did.

Marry Me
In my sleep I said
I'm going to marry you someday.
I didn't mean to say it out loud
but I did mean it.
I asked you to marry me
I didn't have a ring.
You said yes and we set a date.
That will be the happiest day
of my life until Sept. 9, 2006.

Cue me crying hysterically because my poem didn't relay and go through our relationship as I wanted but I liked my poem and knew I'd cry and wouldn't be able to say all that she did.

At this point it was my turn and I was still crying. She tried to comfort me but I needed to get down on one knee (in the tent so she was on the inflatable mattress and I was on the floor).

I stumbled between tears but got it all out. My poem was simple enough to memorize, as I thought we'd be out in the woods and all...

Lives are for living,
I live for you.
Dreams are for wishing,
I wish for you.
Hearts are for beating,
Mine beats for you.
Angels are for keeping,
Can I keep you?

And that's when I took out the ring from my PJ bottoms (damn box was upside-down!), and asked if she's marry me. I put the ring by her hand, she said yes and started to cry and then, well, we fell into bed and laughed and cried and talked and...

The ring is a bit too big so i must return it, which will take 2 weeks (the ring sizing we did through sites online were WRONG!). But it looks so good on her finger!!!

And now, I am going to go join her in the shower. :dizzy:

Happy 4th of July!!!!
Just a quick post today...Want to be on the water for no later than 10 am... can't wait to get in my kayak!!! HB is still sleeping as are the furbabies... I'm enjoying my coffee in lovely early morn solitude...

Happy 4th of July, everyone! :)

I'm sorry... I haven't been well, and can't even begin to read all the posts right now... but I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend.

Jenn, I did read the last couple of posts. ;) Your poems were beautiful. What a lovely, lovely time. Thanks for sharing, hon. :grouphug:

And Eleni, Happy Anniversary!! :balloons: It sounds as though you and your DH are BOTH blessed. :cloud9:

07-04-2005, 07:40 AM
:flow1:((((ELLIS))):flow1: you were missed! I wasn't sure if you went away on Holiday or just too busy.. Hope you feel better soon

07-04-2005, 07:50 AM
Thanks, Schatzi. You're a sweetheart. :grouphug: Just the old depression kicking in... :(

07-04-2005, 08:13 AM
I'm glad you are a bit perkier, Sweet Ellis.

Jenn, the poems are lovely! You and HB are soul mates for sure!

The Girls let me sleep in until 5:30 this morning. Coffee on the deck was just lovely. Today will be a bit warmer than yesterday but not the devastating heat of the past week or so.

The plan today: some gardening, banking, picking up yet more school work and refilling the propane tank for the BBQ. I also plan to do some treadmill or WATP and get right back on plan. There have been too many deviations this weekend but I'm not changing my ticker - yet!

Have a great July 4th, American chicks! :grouphug:
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Jenn - The poems were beautiful. I am so happy for you both!

Eleni - I love Lowrey Park! I grew up in Tampa and still visit it whenever I go home. I still remember when it was a tiny old fashioned zoo.

Sorry I don't have time for a long post. My eating has been a little too off plan this weekend. I think today should be okay. We are having lunch with friends. I have Pulled Pork in the crockpot, Overnight Slaw and Three Bean Salad in the fridge along with a Crustless SF Strawberry Pie. I am experimenting using frozen strawberries instead of fresh since my son wants that pie for his birthday party and I'm not sure if the strawberries will still be good.

We're helping clean at the animal shelter this morning for a few hours. They are shorthanded since they only have one person working and really need volunteers. Then we head to our friend's house later. Hopefully we will get to go in the pool. It's just been way too hot. I've got to get moving. I WILL get the Exercise Queen post done tomorrow. I just haven't had time to add up everyone's time but I haven't forgotten! Have a fun and patriotic 4th Everyone!

Hello everyone! and Happy 4th of July ! I cant tell you how much i enjoy reading about how everyone is doing..:)

Yesterday did NOT goes as smoothly as I thought..I forgot how people get when you dont want to eat their food that they spent all day preparing...So i said no to the chips, soda, and had a spoonful of pasta salad, a burger with cheese and onions, about 1/2 cup of wine..(all together) and i brought my own chicken and they cooked it in BBQ sauce...*sigh* its was delicious.....I got cornered into having a margarita (spelling) with my friends mom...she was dipping the rim of the glass in sugar..I almost had a heart attack...but i took it...had a sip and when she went outside i poured it down the sink....(I didn't WANT to be rude and say no...she made such a big deal out of "us girls" doing something looked at the ingrediants...40 grams of Carbs and something like 70 grams of sugar!!! no thanks!!!!

anyways we had a great time yesterday and this morning NO damage...still at 140....and i made sure to work out for an hour this morning!

happy 4th girls enjoy your day!

Hey every one,

Jenn - congrats on the engagment, that sounds like a really special time for you both.

Eleni - What part of Tampa do you live in? I graduated from USF I use to live over by the stadium, near Hillsbrough, but then I moved closer to the campus and lived just a few blocks from Busch Gardens. Tampa was nice, I think I went to the zoo once or twice as well.

Welp, this is the weekend thread, and I didn't see a new thread for today (monday) or it has a diffrent name, so I'm just going to post here.

I did pretty well today, I did eat some cherries, which are suppose to be a phase 1 no no, I think I'm doing like a phase 1.5 or something. :D Any way, I made the chicken parmasan recipe from the site here and hubby wanted me to make it again today for lunch. Finally!! something he likes. He's all pissy with me for taking away his rice and pasta and potatoes. :tantrum: Ahh well, we all have to sacrifice right? :wl:

I was thinking about going to plop on the sofa and watch TV but since I posted in the exercise challenge, I guess I better go do something, otherwise it's thanks to the exercise challenge I am actually going to have to exercise (ggezzz, what a crock) :tread: alright already...hope every one is having a good day.
