LA Weight Loss - LAWL Losers and Friends - July '05solocat 07-01-2005, 12:10 AM :D Happy July! mlynn 07-01-2005, 01:12 AM Hi. I was doing the Gold plan and Fast Forward on my own. Do you know if the shakes work to speed weight loss and when to use. Also is there :o a good substitute for them? Thanks so much! MetalChic 07-01-2005, 09:42 AM Good Morning Ladies! I was in the bed yesterday. :( I slept almost all day. I didn't get up until noon, took a nap at 5, and went to bed for good at 10. I still don't feel much better. I did get my truck back finally, two weeks and $850 later  Anyway, I start my last week of stabilization Monday; and I haven't gained anything back. :D I finally get some real sweets (without cheating) next week! Thanks everyone for your compliments! :o Star 07-01-2005, 10:12 AM Cathy - About the tension band stroy....When I was doing the Six Week Body Makeover, that plan uses bands and mine slipped out from the door and bonked me in the head too :stars: Then I went back to using light weight.....lol Well I came in to work today, ready to finish some last minute stuff and the guys I work with had bought me a Simply Chocolate birthday cake :hb: Well, I couldn't NOT eat a piece - how rude would that be :dunno: So I did and now I've had my calories for like the whole day :o I go to WI around 11, when I leave for vacation from here. That will be my pre vacation official weight. Still on plan, not gonna pig out on vacation and either remain the same or if the heavens shine on me maybel lose :crossed: (And wouldn't that be a MIRACLE) Well I have to go train the temp.... I'll check back when I return - you all be good, have fun and be here when I get back.......to kick my butt (if needed) back in line.... Hugs brittyboo07 07-01-2005, 10:18 AM Star have a great time on your vacation!!!!!!!!!!!! Cathy that was a funny story but i bet it happens more often than not lol. But I do have to say that i laughed when i read it so i probably would have been laughing with your daugher too lol. I have lots to do this morning so i better get busy i have some nasty phone calls to return it seems....... Britt textjewel 07-01-2005, 10:20 AM Good morning, chickies! Finally started the day off right food wise, with kashi cereal and yogurt - this is a much better beginning than I've had all week! My feet are still so swollen that it hurts to bend them. Did get the chicken cooked and the laundry mainly done, so that's a good thing, too. Karen/MC - what kind of sweets do you get?? tell us more, please. .. Hi Mlynn and welcome -- (my DS's name is Lynn Marie. .) Unfortunately, I've never used the shakes - I think you sub them for a protein and a starch? They are probably similar to using a lean cuisine for a meal, and I've had pretty good luck with those. Is the fast forward similar to Take Off (TO)? Michelle, -- re: the wedding story - weren't you off to a wedding at the beginning of June? Hi Cindy - good golly, wtg on the jogging - I jiggle too much to move fast -- I know what you mean about expecting faster results when exercising - sometimes it works for me,and sometimes it doesn't. Hi Cathy! I am so impressed that you still see your ex in social situations - was this because of the house closing you posted about a while ago? Star, hope you have a chance to check in before you go - have a great vacation with all the family, chickie! Those DGB's will come back SPOILED. And yes, I agree, about the board being a god-send - when I'm feeling like there's no point, and heading to a MAJOR relapse - this board points me to the right direction . .it reminds me that the program does work, that being POP has benefits, it is amazingly simple once I get into the swing of things. . . Okay, chicks, it's July 1st - I need to set some goals again! I'm going away again on the 15th for the west coast, but I will do better this time . .. need a new mantra.. . I go off hold the second week of August, and want to be lower than 190 if I can . . still haven't faced the scale this week. . Hugs to all, Julie MetalChic 07-01-2005, 10:32 AM Julie, I don't have the complete list right here at work; but I know I get pecan pie, fruit pie, angel food cake, cheesecake, biscuits, cornbread, and more. Most of them count as more than one starch and some count as a fat too. I can get up to three fats starting Monday too.... :D I will have to bring the list to work with me next week I guess. I just remember the ones that stuck out in my mind. I actually already bought me some pecan pie for next week. Edward's Single Serving Pecan Pie is in my freezer just waiting until next week..... :s: textjewel 07-01-2005, 10:36 AM Karen, OMG - I love those Edwards frozen pies - and I don't really like pie - - I'm impressed that LAWL has found a way to work that type of food into the maintenence program. . . I just wish they did it in the weight loss period - it may prevent cheating and tweaking. buttonsinabox 07-01-2005, 11:32 AM Star have a great vacation and Happy early Birthday!!!... I can't remember who else is going on vacation too but Have a great one as well.. Mlynn are you talking about the slimdowns (meal replacements)?? I agree you guys and this board are a godsend.. It helps keep me on track as well as making me LMAO.. lol Well the manager of COD gave me some home work, and that was to eat some jello and ice cream.. lol so I did but I have to say after having the ice cream I was hungry all night so Im not sure if it was worth it.. anyway 1/2 cup of nf ns vanilla, a tbsp of peanut butter on top and 1/2 a banana...mmm it was SOOO good, normally id have hard shell chocolate on top as well but I was good and didn't... it covered 1S, 1/2P, 1F... the sf jello was a freebie Oh yeah did I read something about a cabana boy??? heres something to think about an island, a hammock and a cabana boy with all the margaritas you want... how could it get better then that.. lol Mitchypoo 07-01-2005, 11:48 AM Cathy, your band story really gave me a chuckle.... Julie~OK, i guess i forgot, i did mention i think when i got back, but you must have been on your trip. The wedding was really nice, i had a nice time, i enjoyed spending time with my cousin in her 5th wheel, we went fishing and i got severely sunburned on my arms and tops of feet. The drive up there was fantastic, 4 hours of beautiful CA, going through part of the Mojave desert and then into Owens Valley, listened to a book on tape when the radio went out, loved the solitude. The only guy at the wedding who was interesting at all, was the best man and married...he was very nice and attentive to me, but always appropriate. No other flirting material. Thanks ladies for the encouragement, you have made me feel a little better about things. I plan to do some constructive things this weekend. I've ended up with a whole 3 day weekend!! I'm so excited! Happy 4th and Canada Day to all! WAgal 07-01-2005, 12:13 PM Good Morning losers!!! (and I mean that in the nicest way!) Well after a few discouraging days I am down 2 pounds in ONE day. It sure is weird how much your body weight can fluctuate (sp?). I weigh in today so should be interesting. I really beefed up my exercise this week and that may have had something to do with it. I am even jogging and am up to 5 minutes, but at a very slow 3.7-3.8mph. My next challenge will be a family wedding that I leave for next Wed. and don't return till the following Tues. But I am determined to stay POP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! __________________ brittyboo07 07-01-2005, 12:14 PM Well first up is my friday WI update....after getting back OP for the past two weeks and doing TO for the past to days my WI today was 1.75 lbs down from Wednesday making my weekly total........... 4.50 lbs for the week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im so excited about that! Now on wednesday she had looked at my chart and said humm your overdue for your measurements want to do them today or wait till after TO well DUH!!! after of course. So she measured me today and i was down 5.5 inches from April for a total of 11 inches and 20lbs since i started the program. I have to say while i should be down more i am pleased with my progress since my "break" from the program lol. My next challenge a POP WEEKEND!!!!! Its hard for me to do but im gonna try me best. ~Julie Doesn't it feel great to be back OP!!! I need to set my July goals also. I am also planning on being OP while on vacation and exercising at the gym there! Come on Girl we can DO this!!!!!!!!!!! ~Karen Im coming over for some Pecan Pie you willing to share???? Wow thats a lot of stuff to add back but good stuff i might add lol. ~Beth Shall we sail away to the islands man? (said in my best Jamacian voice) And what a nice little treat you had for Homework??? so give it up how come you got homework? Ok I have just finished eating my breakfast. Not so sure about these morning star breakfast sausage (textured veggie protein) i guess i could eat them once in a while but yuck not everyday!!! Im gonna go over to the journal area and fix up my post for the day there. Then i guess i need to do that thing they call work. Be back later..... Britt MetalChic 07-01-2005, 12:18 PM I'll share my pecan pie.... I purchased the individual slices so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the whole pie... :hun: Of course, I will have to use these new foods in moderation. But, it sure will be nice to have them back. :D Happy Early Birthday Star! :hb: :balloons: Enjoy your vacation! :beach: My birthday is this month; I can't wait for that piece of birthday cake. :hun: I was on the old plan last year on my birthday. I was very good and didn't have any cake :( WAgal 07-01-2005, 12:28 PM Hi again!! Reading over everyone's posts: Star~ have a great time on your vacation! We will be waiting for all the details when you return. Karen~ Good for you to finally be able to add some "forbidden" foods back into your diet!! Hooray!! Cathy~ Funny story!! Last year I was having to do some PT and using the bands was part of my home exercises. I did the same thing when I had one in the door!! Not only is it shocking, it hurts!! Beth~ I would like to know how you got that homework, too!!! buttonsinabox 07-01-2005, 01:53 PM LMAO She made me because she said all im eating is boring stuff... chicken and veggies, tuna and salad.. blah blah blah... and she's making me start to add condiments in as well besides the jello.. no I haven't been eating any.. lol you guys can have the ice cream too.. 1/2 a cup of No fat No sugar is a starch.. 1 tbsp of Peanut butter is half a protien and 1/2 a banana is a fruit...just make sure you account for it in your journal.. you can even put the chocolate on it and its still on plan... she wanted me to but yuck I don't like that stuff.. Hey she also told me they have a smoothie recipie book, it must have been a freebie that they put out because she said she'd get me one... she said it has good ideas in it.. HAHA I guess im boring and need help.. lol Britt lol hey im there!!! my friends always say theres an island with my name on it somewhere.... when I hit the lottery I'll be finding it... lol 912go 07-01-2005, 02:37 PM hi all! we don't use the june thread anymore now right? soooooooooo i was wondering, how did everyone do when they were measured after one month? today is my measure day! dum..dum..dumm (dramatic music) lol... jw.... mandyd26 07-01-2005, 02:44 PM Hi Chicks Julie-You're coming to the west coast on the 15th!! Yay! We HAVE to get together. I will be out of town starting July 24th, so I hope you have time to fit me in before then. I'm just going to a family reunion on the Oregon coast for a week. But it's still a good time. :) Anyway, I would love to have a little PNW get together when you're here. Star- I guess you're already gone, but I'll say goodbye and have a great time anyway! Don't be gone too long! WAgal-Congrats on the loss. Our bodies really can be weird. We just have to stay on track and sometimes wait for our bodies to catch up. I cheated yesterday. It was a weird eating day. I didn't eat until around 11am (I had a turkey sub sandwich) and then I forgot to eat before I left the house around 2:30 and all I could find was an orange and a slim fast bar. Then for dinner I had veggie pizza (3 slices) and bread sticks! Ouch, and that is all I ate yesterday...not enough veggies or fruit. It was crazy. So I'm only up .2 which really surprises me. I'm POP so far today and plan on going to the gym tonight. Well, I just wanted to check in with everyone. Have a good weekend! Mandy alliesarang 07-01-2005, 03:33 PM MetalChic---wow, that's some will power! If I had some Edwards pie in my freezer....well, it wouldn't be in my freezer, it would be in my belly! I thought summer would speed up my weightloss, but quite to the contrary. The lazy days of summer have had a negative influence on my weightloss, and the pounds now have the idea that they can be slow movin' as well. But, I am still losing, just veeeeeery slooooo....ooooowly. But, NSV yesterday. After about a few weeks hiatus from all of my belts (I dunno why, maybe I was wearing alot of skirts) I'm easily down a notch in all of them! and one doesn't even fit anymore. I remember having to go out and buy that belt because my old ones didn't fit....and now THAT one doesn't fit! a-woohoo! I need to step up the workouts, you guys are all inspiring! textjewel 07-01-2005, 03:56 PM Hey PNW chickies - I'm landing in Reno on the 15th, then have relatives in Vegas to visit first (say the 16th and 17th), before heading to the Portland area- can we meet somewhere convienent to all?? I imagine it'll take me over a day to get from Vegas to Portland since I have all of California to go thru . .. I'll be staying with a cousin in Oregon, but I'm sure we can find someplace to meet? Alliesarang - that's a terrific NSV! Linda good luck on the tape measure! Britt -- my favorite morning star burgers are the veggie burgers - I do have some of the bacon in the freezer, but I haven't tried it yet. It's actually pretty old - I should probably toss it. I do like the crumbles to use in recipes in place of ground beef. You had a terrific week - 4 1/2 pounds! You're right, we can do this. Michelle - thanks for the update on the wedding - it seems like all the good flirting material is with married men, lately (except for Ruby's SB hottie) The 4th will be a challenge since I have a barbecue to go to - and not many POP foods, but if I can stick to the plain salad and only have a hamburger with 1/2 of a bun, I should be okay? Hugs to all, Julie WAgal 07-01-2005, 04:12 PM What do NSV and PNW stand for? Thanks vibrantecho 07-01-2005, 04:26 PM NSV = Non Scale Victory PNW = Pacific Northwest :) textjewel 07-01-2005, 04:34 PM Fiona - Hi! (and thanks for the translation...) vibrantecho 07-01-2005, 04:40 PM  brittyboo07 07-01-2005, 05:02 PM Hey chicks!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got back from lunch with my mom. I did really good too was POP. And i drank water instead of tea! I think i have my mom convinced to exercise with me doing the Oprah's bootcamp im going to print her out the info so she can read it. But we start tonight so she has to make up her mind quickly lol. Well just wanted to drop by for a few minutes and check out the post. Fiona you are quiet today are you working at the house? Julie i actually got me some of the morning star burgers last night cause they were on sale so maybe i will have them tomorrow. Ok i have things to do i better run......be back later Britt vibrantecho 07-01-2005, 05:22 PM HI Britt - nope I'm at work, just very busy. First of the month, invoices go out, overdue reminders go out, renewal applications go out...I've been stuffing envelopes all day! DH is out at the house right now waiting for the internet guy to show up - yay, I won't have to go a single day without my high-speed fix!!! Don't know if I mentioned, but the anti-wallpaper project in the dining room went so smoothly that we're probably going to tackle the kitchen, too, ASAP. The previous owners were on some sort of Minnesota-country kick - covered wagons and sheaves of wheat in the dining room, blue dots and teapots in the kitchen. Ick. :barf: We picked a soft green paint that will look awesome with all the cherry woodwork and the beige-ish laminate in the kitchen. :D Only the mini-blinds over the kitchen window are BLUE (to match the dots I guess), so we're going to have to replace that. New houses are $$$$$$!!!! Fiona mlynn 07-01-2005, 05:47 PM Hi again. Yes Beth, I believe it is slimdown a meal replacement shake that I was asking about. Fast Forward is a juice for a 2 day fast. I believe that FF may be the new name. Thanks everyone for the nice welcome too! buttonsinabox 07-01-2005, 05:58 PM Hi Mlynn, I think some people use the body for life shakes as a replacement... hope this helps.. Hey Britt did you find out what the exercises are that your supposed to do??.. All I saw was oprhas favs but I think your supposed to be doing more then those 4.. I was going to buy bob greenes book so we'd know but I haven't gotten to the book store yet... vibrantecho 07-01-2005, 06:10 PM Hey everybody - note the screen name change. It's still me!!! Vibrant Echo is what we decided to name the baby. :D Fiona brittyboo07 07-01-2005, 06:32 PM awwww cute name Fiona!!!! Beth the info for everything we do exercise wise is on the moves page under Basic Training! To give you a quick run down : 6x week 20 min. resistance training 5x week Treadmill/cardio (1st week starts out at 30 min and each week you add two minutes) on the 6th day you double your treadmill/cardio. So on week one if Saturday is your 6th day you would do 1 hr. Workout as follows: 5 min: Treadmill 3mph/12incline 5 min: Floor series: bicep curls, lateral raises, squats, situps 5 min: Treadmill 3.5/10incline 5 min: Floor Series 5 min: Treadmill 4.0/8incline 5 min: Floor Series 5 min: Treadmill 4.5/6incline and dont forget the golden rule: On the 7th Day-REST!!!!!!!!!!! Lets DO it!!!!!!!!!!!!! :strong: :tread: :ebike: :barbell: :barbell: :goodscale :faint: :goodluck: Britt rubyshoes 07-01-2005, 07:10 PM aloha ladies!!! busy day at the office today! Star~ Happy Birthday early, and have a fantastic time on vaca - we'll miss ya! Karen~ It seems like stabilization and maintenance will be like learning all over again, but that makes it exciting doesn't it? You have to eat a certain way for so long, it is nice to see some changes brought back into play, no? Cathy~ your story made me giggle...it reminded me of the time at the gym once where I almost rendered myself unconscious on the treadmill :tread: Beth ~ I think I am on the wrong plan then.... :?:  WAgal~ wtg on the loss!! The first few weeks of the program were hard on me because you have this big loss to start, then it tapers down....but trust me, the momentum kicks in again, I promise! 912go - good luck on your measurements!! May the force be with you ;) alliesarang~ did you get my message?? I love buying smaller belts too! :s: Julie~ sometimes my schedule is whack, so I don't know for sure if I can get all the way down south, but I will see what I can come up with! No update on the SB boy, he hasn't been working...damn! Britt~ Have a fun weekend girl, talk to you on Tuesday! Fiona~ New House = expensive, but also = plenty of exercise you aren't even aware of....how beautiful is that? ;) If I missed anyone...HELLO!!!! :D So I went for my weigh in last night, and I was down another 1.2 lbs. So I am currently at 195.2!!! Love seeing that scale do down! So I did make my 5 lbs goal for the month of June...hooray! I changed my goal for July to 7 lbs, because I have been getting in more exercising, so I think I can hit the larger goal for this next month :goodscale: As for my SB's stories, they are on hold because he hasn't been working, but I am still hoping to have the courage to use RWF's suggested line, if he gets back to work soon. Does everyone take vaca in July? :p 912go 07-01-2005, 11:35 PM are we able to eat this and count it as a protein? I got the patties... they are like 80 cal. each. Does anyone know if we are allowed to eat these and count them as a protein, and if so, how many? I know for veggie burgers and hot dogs we can have two as one protein... jw thanks for any help!! oh yeah... they didn't measure me today. they were supposed to, it was highlighted, but they didn't. also, down another pound and a quarter. :) happy almost 4th! :) 912go 07-01-2005, 11:37 PM oh yeah... was also wondering.... does anyone know about the weight watchers food at applebee's? It's not in the book, but i can't see it would be bad if they have it for weight watchers. I got the chicken sandwich they have for weight watchers. i could just count it as a protein and two starches, right? Thanks in advance! alliesarang 07-02-2005, 06:31 AM textjewel -- Thanks!! rubyshoes -- yes, I got your message. I apologize, I'm the absolute worst at returning emails. Anyway, I'm in Tacoma a lot. I went to high school in Tacoma so alot of my friend base lives around there. Glad to meet more Wa****onians! :-) vibrantecho 07-02-2005, 09:32 AM Linda - I love that Applebees WW chicken sandwich! I think their WW menu came out since LAWL revised their eating-out guide, and that's why it's not in there. You are right, count it as a protein two starches - if you get the sauce on top (that's my favorite part!) may want to count it as a fat??? At my AB they serve it with pineapple on the side, so count your fruit, too. :write: ETA: Yep, count that sauce as a fat as it's "barbeque ranch," LF but definitely more than a condiment serving. Also, I have them leave the cheese off 'cause I don't like cheese on my chicken, but remember to count that too. Eating out can get really complicated! textjewel 07-02-2005, 10:04 AM Good morning, chickies! Did the best on being POP yesterday than I have in a long time, so that's the first step on getting back on track. About the morning star sausage - I'd count it just like the burgers. The veggie burgers I get are 100 cals each, and I have two for 1 protein. About the WW meals at Applebee's - I'd find something similar in the eating out guide and count it like that. (I'm boring - I usually get the chicken caeser when I eat out. . ) But, there is a restaurant that serves a grilled chicken salad with sliced fresh fruit, so I get that whenever I can - I love it. Fiona - love the name of the new pony. How'd you pick it? Ruby, WTG on making your June goal! Julie EweWho 07-02-2005, 12:45 PM Good Morning All! Wow, you miss a couple of days and have to spend hours (it seems like) catching up! After previewing this, I'm sorry it is so long, but I didn't want to leave out anyone, which I'm sure I did. To everyone going on vacation, whether it be just for the weekend or for longer, have a great time! We don't have anything special planned. We are going to gather at the church (most of my family attends there) for a cookout and fireworks on the 4th. My house is just a block away, so if I need anything to keep me POP I will be close. I think I'll take one of my buffalo burgers to bbq. I had a few chuckles reading the posts, visualizing Cathy with that darned band. That is something her daughter will remember for years! Britt - I hope you are having a great start to your weekend. I know you can do a POP weekend, just plan ahead! Isn't it funny how we will eat things even if we don't absolutely love them? As I was reading your post regarding the Morning Star sausages I thought to myself of all the things I'm not too crazy about, but eat them anyway. Thanks for posting the exercises! You are inspiring me to get started. I did go to Oprah's site, but got distracted. It is still on my computer screen. Debi - I am glad to see you keeping such a positive attitude! That is 80% of the reason for success in my opinion! Let's go shopping! Karen - Wow, I am amazed at your willpower, but I do understand how foods in the freezer are safe from being eaten. If they are in there, I seem to forget about them. I still have a piece of low carb cheesecake I made probably more than a year ago that I come across every once in a while when I am sifting through the freezer looking for something. It is vacuum sealed, so I have no idea how long it will keep in there. I'll probably just throw it out someday. My birthday is this month too, on the 22nd. I'll be 55. I really wish I had found LAWL sooner, but at least I will be in better shape at 60 than I was at 50! Beth - I'm in that boring group with you. Right now I am afraid to stray off what I'm doing because it is still working. My counselor told me to mix up what I was having for breakfast because I was having peanut butter every morning, when I did change, I gained almost 2 pounds! Another counselor helped plan a couple of days and I did lose those 2 plus another 1.6. I need to eat more foods that are not easily digested. I wonder if that smoothie booklet is the one that our COD is out of? They said they had a new summer recipes book that was free, but had run out. I have two counselors on the lookout for one for me. I bought a couple of cans of their smoothie mix, but haven't yet tried them. Mandy - You rock! :cheer: I so enjoy reading your posts, and am so glad you share your struggles with us. You make it seem possible to me! I know it isn't a good thing to have bad eating days, but they are going to happen. That's life, and you make it real. The fact that you passed your goal weight is inspiring to me. Keep it up! How long did it take you to reach your current weight? Julie - OK, I'm going to be nosy....How come you are landing in Reno and going to Las Vegas instead of landing in Vegas? I usually land in Reno when I go visit my mom, who lives at Lake Tahoe. Vegas is really a far drive! Do you have family/friends in Reno that are going down to Vegas and the rest of the places with you? Boy, that is going to be some trip for you, huh? I hope you have a good a/c in your car! Fiona - I love your little worm! I went back and saw the cute little baby. He is so cute, and I love the name! Congratulations on the new house! Ruby - I've missed your posts. I'm glad to see that SB boy hasn't been around. I was afraid something had gone wrong. Maybe that is a good thing! It is an opening for you to talk to him. "Hey, where have you been? I've missed seeing you!" :D I didn't join in time to see where Star is off to or how long she will be gone. I hope it isn't long. I love reading her posts! I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am going to sit down and plan my entire weekend's food. I don't usually plan in advance, but I loved it when one of the counselors did it for me. I didn't have to wonder what I was having to eat. I need to go grocery shopping, but think I will hold it off until Tuesday. We went out to dinner last night and traffic was horrendous! I'm staying out of town until after the weekend! brittyboo07 07-02-2005, 01:52 PM well good morning chicks!!!!! Almost afternoon  I thought i would stop in and see what was going on. I was POP yesterday and so far today so im doing good on my weekend challenege for myself to be POP. Didnt end up exercising yesterday as we went to Granny's and check on her and stopped by the grocery store to grab some on sale items. I have the same habit that some of you have about weighing myself daily first thing in the morning. Well when i got on it this morning I just kind of stood there  I was down to the next number!!! Now I do know that my scale and the scale at the center are a little off usually around a lb or so sometimes more sometimes less well my scale said 239.75 I was basically in shock! I dont know how accurate that really is. Yesterday at the center i was 245.25 so there is no way that i lost that much in 24hrs! But i didnt want to the scale go up so i didnt get back on it  Either way if I have a POP weekend I will be really excited to see what the scale says. I believe they told me they would move me down to the next plan at 238. So maybe i will have to do some adjusting in the next week or so. ~Linda Yes we can have morning star breakfast sausage. It is counted at a Textured Veggie Protein which is listed under the vegitarian section. I am currently on the red plan and can have 4oz=1 protein. Check your plan and see how much you can have. As for getting measured you will probably have to remind them I have to do that at my center. I got my measurements this week and the last time i was measured was April and that was only because I asked. We have a new counselor and she noticed i hadnt been measured and we decided to do it on friday. I agree with Fiona on how to count the WW selections from applebee's. ~Julie HI!!!! WTG on getting back OP!! I guess im boring like you cause i tend to get some type of salad with chicken on it when we go out unless i have a lot i need to get in still lol. ~Regina LOL we do get chatty here sometimes dont we!!! Im not usually a planner for my meals either but maybe i should be. Glad to see that traffic is bad other places too i was beginning to think it was just here lol. I think star will be back on the 11th so thats only about a week gone. She will be back before you know it with her great post! Well i need to do a few things i guess so everyone have GREAT OP Weekend and a wonderful 4th!!!!! Britt WAgal 07-02-2005, 02:20 PM Good Morning everyone!! Britt, I am joining you on your POP weekend challenge!! After going off for one meal last Sunday decided it sure wasn't worth it. Took 3 days to recover from it. Fiona, thanks for getting me up to speed on the 3FC board lingo!!! I am one of the PNW gals!!! I went to WI yesterday and am down 2 pounds for a total now of 10. Guess I better change my ticker. Thats so fun!!! I also posted my "before" pic in my profile, but really I still look the same!! Maybe in a couple months I will indeed start looking different. I'll check in later... EweWho 07-02-2005, 02:28 PM Thanks for the reminder, Cindy! I needed to change my ticker too! EweWho 07-02-2005, 02:33 PM <snip> I was POP yesterday and so far today so im doing good on my weekend challenege for myself to be POP. Well i need to do a few things i guess so everyone have GREAT OP Weekend and a wonderful 4th!!!!! Britt I think I will join you on that challenge, Britt. I've done well so far, even though it is only noon on Saturday! :D Now I know I need to plan my food if I am going to be good. Be sure to let us know what the COD scales say at your next weigh-in. WAgal 07-02-2005, 03:36 PM Hi Regina, Sometimes you have to take the whole POP thing one hour at a time!!! Especially when we are feeling weak!! But I KNOW we can do this this weekend!! Right ladies? EweWho 07-02-2005, 05:02 PM I'm with you, Cindy! We CAN do this this weekend! mandyd26 07-02-2005, 08:36 PM Hi ladies- Well I'm up another pound today. I'm at 145, but I ate perfect yesterday, so I'm not letting it get me down. I'm interested in seeing what tomorrow brings. Hopefully my body will catch up to the exercising and I'll start to even out. :) I upgraded my gym membership so I can go any time I want to now. That'll be a lot better. It'll help me get to the gym 5 to 6 times a week. Stabilization is fine. I've only added a dairy. I need to start experimenting (wow I can't spell) with the new free food choices. I guess I'm just so used to eating a certain way that it seem hard to change it now. Julie- I would love to get together sometime when you are here. I think Portland or Vancouver WA (only because that's where I live) would be a good central place. It just depends on which part of Portland your family lives. Really Portland would probably be best for you. Let me know which day would work best, so we can try to figure something out. PNW Chicks- Let's try to get together when Julie is here... who's in? I think it'll be fun. Maybe PM me if your interested and we can try to work out the details. Regina- I started lawl April of 2004 (very end of march). So I think it took about a year and 2 to 3 months to reach my goal. I had some minor setbacks along the way. Family reunions, holidays etc. But I still managed to reach my goal. I can't even believe that I did it. Looking back it really went by fast. I think I took about a month off somewhere in there too. I tried to do an at home version of ww and I wasn't all that successful. So I'm still plugging along. Planning on doing maintenance (sp?) the full year and I'm going to be trying to get a little more toned up by going to the gym. It feels good to reach one big goal. It makes me feel like I can do anything. Well, I just thought I'd check in with you all.. Metalchic- I hope you're enjoying stabilization still. Are you getting all of your free foods in? I think you're right. It's going to be hard to get everything in. Thursday is when I add the extra fruit and veggies. the Veggie is doable, but not sure about the fruit. Talk you all later. Have a Happy 4th!! Mandy Julinstl 07-02-2005, 08:41 PM Hi. I have been on LAWL for 2 weeks. Just started my 3rd week Thurs. I've lost 12lbs so far. My only problem is for the last week, I've felt constipated. I haven't been, but I feel like it. That uncomfortable bloated feeling. Has anyone else ever experienced that shortly after starting on the plan?? Jewel textjewel 07-03-2005, 07:58 AM Good morning, chickies! Regina - my geography isn't that off - I'm attending a conference in Reno the last week of July, so it's just easier for me to start and end there on my trip. I'm tacking on a week to see that part of the country, and to visit family. (please be as nosy as you want!) About the driving - I'm renting a car - I would have driven the whole thing, except I didn't want to be away from home for close to 4 weeks. Mandy - I'm really looking forward to getting to meet in the flesh as many of you as I can . . Hi Jewel and welcome! (Jewel is one of my nicknames) When I feel constipated, I usually am - but try these things, if you're not already doing them - drink lots of water, think about adding an EFA or Omega 3 supplement to sort of 'lubricate' things - pick fresh veg and fruit, and try to get high fiber stuff for your starch. On the other hand, if you are doing all this, and your body is not used to it, it can be that your digestive track is just getting used to more fiber, and once it adjusts everything will be more normal. I find that my tummy rumbles more when I'm back on a balanced diet if I've been way off clean eating for a while. Cindy - WTG on making 10 pounds down! Hey Britt - I have my fingers crossed that your scale and the center's scale match. Hope everyone has a great OP weekend - I fell off yesterday - I am going to take this sweet  that's been riding on my shoulder and dump him somewhere! Julie WAgal 07-03-2005, 12:23 PM Good Morning losers!! Mandy, I am in for a get-together!! Sounds like fun!! I am very flexable so just let me know. Regina and Britt, so far I'm doing great with the weekend challenge. I stayed the same from yesterday which I will take as I took a day off of exercising. How are the 2 of you doing? Know tomorrow will be the hard day for everyone with all the 4th BBQ's and all. Jewel, I too am starting to experience this problem. Not sure why. I started/joined 3 weeks ago. When I was doing the South Beach diet last year this was a constant problem. Haven't heard from Debi or Juliemarie for a couple days. Hope you gals are off somewhere having fun!!! More later... juliemarie 07-03-2005, 02:32 PM Wow-I really fell like part of the group now-somebody wondered where I was! Well-I'm down in Salem for the weekend at the folks and trying desperately to stay OP. When I arrived yesterday, I was informed we were going to my grandparent's for dinner-oh my. I knew what that meant-starch, starch, and more starch-with a little starch thrown in for flavor. Sure enough-meatloaf (elk meat even-ok I can eat that), corn on the cob (1/2), scallopped potatoes (tiny serving), and a bisquit (yeah-I know). Luckily, I had saved up 3 starches and counted the meal as 1P, 3S, 1D, and !Fat. Pretty close I think. Luckily, she had watermelon for dessert so I was able to get 2F in as well. Plus it was really filling. As of Fri (3wks), I have lost 10 labs-so I really don't want to lose that momentum. Mom seems to be getting back on track too. Yay! We're doing another BBQ tonite-but we're in control of the food so I'm not worried. I'd love to get together with you guys when you plan the PNW gathering! Keep me informed. juliemarie 07-03-2005, 02:35 PM Okay-I will attempt to spell-check next time-that would be a biscuit and I lost 10 lbs, not 10 labs-I did not give birth to puppies! WAgal 07-03-2005, 03:01 PM Juliemarie!!! OMGawd!!! You crack me up!!! I was so excited that you were having labs!! They're my favorite!! Ha ha!! I know what you mean about being in control of the meal. When we had our company last weekend I actually lost weight after the meals I prepared but gained over 2 when we went to a mutual friends for dinner. I was just talking to DH about how weird it is how our body weight fluctuates. We went on an Alaskan cruise last month and I pigged out royally. I was having 4 slices of bacon and 4 sausage links EVERY morning for breakfast, not to mention everthing else I put on my plate, and after 8 days I gained 4.5 pounds!!! Which I didn't think was too bad. I go to a friend's for ONE dinner and gain over 2 pounds!!! I just don't get it!! We seem to be on the same weightloss pattern as I have lost 10 pounds also after 3 weeks. Have a nice rest of the weekend. Its just DH and me with no plans, which is kinda nice for a change. Next week will be tough as I leave on Wed. to head for a wedding and don't return till the 12th. Everyone knows I am doing LAWL but there will have to be some eating out. But so far I have been doing well with that, so hope to continue. P.S. I posted my pic finally Julinstl 07-03-2005, 04:40 PM Cindy, Thanks for letting me know it's not just me. I'm trying to rearrange the veggies I'm eating so maybe it's not alot of salads. I can't tell you how glad I am that I found this place. :D I don't get any support at home with trying to lose the weight, so it's great to see everyone talking so openly about it. I hope you all have a great 4th Jewel buttonsinabox 07-03-2005, 06:07 PM Jewel, thats whats great about this board.. ALL the support you get!!!!!!! I know how you feel about not getting support at home. I do however get people trying to sabotage(sp?) my efforts but thats ok you get enough here to make up for it :D Julinstl 07-03-2005, 07:05 PM Thanks Beth,!!! I sure know about the sabatoge too, but I only get it from my husband. As he's always done in the past....But this time I'm not letting him get to me. When he orders pizza at 9pm I go to my room. When he orders cheese queso and chips as an appetizer I dive into my water. When he brings home donuts and cookies, I have a LA lite bar and my water. As I mentioned to Cindy, I'm sooooo glad I've found this site. :-) Have a great 4th Jewel vibrantecho 07-03-2005, 08:26 PM Hi gals!!! Well, after 12 straight hours, we are about 80% moved in. We filled the biggest truck the U-haul place had, and still there wasn't room for everything. We don't even have that big of a house, we just have a lot of crap!! Tomorrow is going to be unpacking boxes so that we can take them back to the old house and fill 'em up again. I haven't been OP at all this weekend, but I've been working my tail off packing and hauling boxes around, not to mention we got the dining room finished (painted) yesterday, so I've hopefully done an okay job of working off the extra calories. Tuesday will tell! Right now it's just me here - DD is at Grandma's still and DH had a meeting at work, so I think I'm going to find the box with my jammies in it, hop in the shower and then get off my feet for an hour or two. Catch you all later! Fiona ~Rissa&Lilly'sMommy~ 07-03-2005, 09:45 PM Hey ladies...I am new...duh!!..lol Anyway, I will weigh in again on Tues but man this hard really. My family eating pizza, fettucine alfredo, biscuits and gravy, etc... They mean well and make me a special meal, but it is really hard to say No thank you. Oh well, hoping for the best. I just wanted to jump in an say hi...so HI!! WAgal 07-03-2005, 10:10 PM Hello Crystal, Welcome to the board!! Yes, it is hard but it will be so worth it!! Just keep telling yourself that!! I sometimes don't realize how easy I have it compared to others. Its just DH and me so we both eat the same thing. It would be difficult if I had young ones to worry about. You deserve a lot of credit!! Looks like you are doing GREAT so far!! Keep checking in here and let us know how you are doing, okay? Fiona, I sure don't envy you the move. I have moved more than my share because of DH's job. The older I get the harder it is!! I am sure you are burning some major calories!!! henrygirls 07-04-2005, 04:31 AM New here -- will post my bio under the intro thread! You ladies are great! I now live 3 hours from a center - so I can't go in. Hope I can use your board for the extra support which I need! No 4th July celebrations here -- but we are going to try to do an "American BBQ". Crystal - Hang in there! I know it can be so hard. We will be here to encourage you! Fiona - the move will be over soon and your new home will be set up. I am so tired of moving right now -- we moved 2x in the last 12 mos (1x across the pond). Hoping to stay put for a while now. I recently read Dr.Phil's book -- I like the LAWL diet better, but some of his 7 keys make a lot of sense. Anyone else read it? Gotta scoot -- this is the 1st day of summer vacation for the kids. Need to figure out a schedule for the next 8 weeks. :) Michelle DD#1 (9/99) DD#2 (12/00) DS (6/04) http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/3;10708;3;0;1/c/172/t/135/s/193/k/d87c/weight.png textjewel 07-04-2005, 09:20 AM Good morning, chickies! Happy Fourth to all of us - a day to recall independence and being a rebel - have any of you seen the movie National Treasure (I think) with Nicolas Cage - and the treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence? I saw it on the plane on the way to England, and remembered that all our founding fathers were a treasonous bunch. . . Welcome to Michelle and Crystal - glad that you found our chatty group! Michelle - where in England do you live? I just came back from two weeks traveling from London up to Edinburg. How often do you get to the center to weigh in (WI)? Crystal - I have the same problem with family get togethers, and I have one today, too - my only defense is to try to leave white space on my plate, fill up with veggies, and to try to get away from the food table. ..the other advice that Star has given us is to find the cutest guy to flirt with - very hard to do with food in your mouth! I agree with you that walking is a great way to think things out - I have to get out on the road again, myself. Jewel - I'm impressed with your methods of handling DH's food ploys - eventually he will get the message and be proud of you - Fiona - WTG on moving day - I think the hardest part is just finding a place for everything in a new place. Cindy - have to agree with you about body weight fluctating - I went up about 5 pounds on a cruise in January. Hard to say if it was the food, or the alcohol that did me in . . Also hard to say which day I gained that weight! ;) To all the PNW chickies - my plans are still not firm - I just found out my great aunt, who lives with my cousin in Portland has ovarian cancer - true she is 85 - but don't want to add to my cousin's plate - hopefully all will become clear in a day or two! Hugs, Julie buttonsinabox 07-04-2005, 10:27 AM Thanks Beth,!!! I sure know about the sabatoge too, but I only get it from my husband. I do the same as you, I have a bar when he gets one of those out.. Last night I shocked him and had pizza too.. veggies pretty good actualy...lol Im determined not to let anyone make me fail... you'd think they'd be happy, but I think it scares them... you all have a great day kcreary 07-04-2005, 11:30 AM Well after my horrible eating and drinking this weekend I went to WI and I still lost 1lb!! Woohoo! WAgal 07-04-2005, 12:11 PM Good morning everyone!! Well, so far so good on the weekend challenge posted by Britt. I am still the same, no loss, no gain!! I took Sat. and Sun. off from exercising but will get back to it today. Julie~ Sorry to hear about your great aunt. When you get to be that age, it seems unfair to have to deal with cancer. It will be hard on your cousin, for sure. Michelle~ Welcome to the board!!! I live a good hour from the nearest center and I go in once a week. Three hours away would be impossible!! You will get lots of support here as well as advice and tips. This place is my weightloss lifeline!!! I watch Dr. Phil all the time but have not read his book. Guess I will have to check it out. Fiona~ Don't work too hard today!!! Ha ha! More later losers! ~Rissa&Lilly'sMommy~ 07-04-2005, 04:46 PM Happy 4th of July :) I did have a slice of pizza today but I did was 4 miles and thought that I earned it...lol Other than that, I have been very good Now to finish my veggies and such.. Julie.... I am so sorry about you aunt...My father died of lung cancer and I know how hard the treatments are on the entire family. Hugs to you and your family!! Cindy... I know about needing a break from exercising, and I think that you need a break now and then. EweWho 07-04-2005, 04:57 PM Well, I was coasting along on Saturday, even managed the bbq at our son's house very well by taking my own veggies along. Then along comes Sunday and I forgot to eat breakfast before leaving for church. I also forgot to take my bar and fruit (usually raisins for church), so I missed that too. I did fine the rest of the day. We went out to Captain D's for lunch and I ordered the low calorie fish plate, took only two bites of rice so I could indulge in the one hush puppy and counted them both as my starch and a fat. I did manage to smuggle a fruit in with dinner, so for the day I was short a half of a protein, one ruit, one starch, and one LA Lite. :( Barbeque this afternoon, again, but this time at my house. It is an impromptu occasion, but I am planning for my food, leaving the macaroni salad alone! Britt, how are you and Cindy doing? The last I read, you were both doing great! Keep it up! EweWho 07-04-2005, 05:02 PM Oh, that is so sad. I hope you will still get to go see your aunt while you are in the area. Talk with your cousin. She may welcome the company, you never know. Offer to stay elsewhere and see what she says. Thanks for clearing up the confused state I was in. I've made the trip from Vegas to Tahoe several times and wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially during the hot weather! But, I lived in CA for years and never cared for the desert. WAgal 07-04-2005, 06:09 PM Good afternoon everyone!! Sounds like everyone is experiencing great willpower this weekend!! WTG everybody!!! Regina~ I used to live not very far from Tahoe in a town(s) called Minden/Gardnerville. Its in the valley below Tahoe. We lived there for 10 years and I NEVER made it to Vegas!!! It just never seemed a priority. Crazy, I know. I am doing great with the challenge. I have stayed the same weight wise all weekend, mostly because I haven't exercised, I'm sure. I did get on the treadmill today for my 3 miles. Keep up the good work everyone. Isn't my smiley cute? 3FC's must have changed it for the holiday. EweWho 07-04-2005, 08:27 PM Cindy, I've been to both Minden and Gardnerville several times. Mother lives just over Kingsbury Grade, before you get to Hwy. 50 She likes to take me to Gardnerville (I think it is) to the Carson Valley Inn for dinner at least once every time I go out there. That is a beautiful area! How long did you live there? MetalChic 07-05-2005, 10:55 AM Good Morning Ladies! I hope everyone had a great holiday! :) I haven't been on the board since Friday, it has taken me almost an hour to catch up.... :dizzy: I started my 6th (last) week of stabilization yesterday! I am having alot of trouble getting all of my food in. It was real bad over the weekend, because I slept late everyday.... I can finally eat that pecan pie, now I just have to figure out when I want it. :?: I actually had an entire biscuit yesterday without cheating! It was good too.... Mandy, I hope you are doing well. Stabilization has been a new challenge, kinda like changing plans every week.... It will get to be a habit as the before stabilization was. We just have to get used to it. Enjoy the new foods, you have earned it! :judge: Ruby, stabilization is a challenge; but I think the maintenance is going to be the biggest challenge. I know I can do it; but you know how it is, I will have to keep up with my weight and be aware of what I am eating. But, I am sure I will be ok..... I know how I gained all that weight now. I didn't realize until LAWL what I was doing to myself. Anyway, everyone have a great Tuesday. Gotta love these short weeks! brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 11:05 AM Well good morning everyone!!! Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday and enjoyed great company, good OP food and fireworks!!!! I had a great weekend was not POP but about as close to it as i have been in a while. Im gonna head over and update my food journal for the weekend so we will see how bad i did or didnt do!! I think for the most part i was POP missing a fruit here or a lite there i just missed a few things: Friday 1Fruit, Saturday 1 fruit, 1lite, Sunday 1 fruit, Monday 1/2 Protein-1 veggie-8oz water so all in all i could have done better but i could have done worse so i will take that as a success since i got in most of my foods. I have a lot to catch up on since Friday lol so here we go..... ~Cindy I think that others tend to see a change in us physically before we do. I think in my case it would take a lot for me to see a change. Hope you POP weekend challenge went well!!! ~Regina I was actually gonna go WI on W/F but since i leave for vacation next week i will probably be super busy on Friday so i better go Today and Thursday just to be sure i get at least two days in this week. They messed me up when they were closed yesterday lol. So when i get back i will fill you all in on what the :goodscale says. WTG on your POP weekend. ~Mandy Im jealous that you guys are gonna meet up!!!!! but hope you all have a great time!!! ~Julie I thought that # on my scale was a fluke and it was havent seen it since lol. However it was really nice to see and also motivating!! We can always play kickball or kick the can :kickcan: with the  !!!!!!!!! Sorry to hear about your aunt will keep her and your family in my thoughts and prayers. ~Juliemarie You made good choices with the options you had. I think you proabably counted everything right too except for maybe the biscuit it would proably be 2 starches but you proabably only went over like a half a starch which isnt bad when you are put into those type of situations. Your doing a great job keep up the good work!!!! ~Jewel Anytime you need support you are more than welcome here its what we do best lol. Welcome to the board!!! ~Fiona How exciting I always thought that moving in and unpacking was the most fun part about moving!!!! Im an organizer at heart even though you couldnt tell that by looking at our house right now lol. ~Crystal Welcome its hard at first but you have to plan ahead especially if you are going to someones house to eat. We went to my Aunt's last night and my mom warned me ahead of time that my Granny had made chess pie (just happens to be my FAV!!!) So i knew i needed a game plan. I stopped by McDonalds and got two apple dippers no caramel sauce and i took a lite with me. so while everyone else was having pie i was having apples and my lite! I was very proud of myself and that just proved to me that it can be done even thought it was hard lol. ~Michelle/henrygirls Welcome you are doing a great job so far. There are a few here that doent go to the centers for one reason or another so just join in and do the best you can we ill help when we can. ~Kate WTG maybe you didnt do as bad as you thought you did !!!!! Ok well my center just opened so i guess i better head over there before the big crowds!! Wish me luck. Britt Razzi 07-05-2005, 11:25 AM Hi Chicks I lurked most of June. Had a blood pressure problem and didn't get to start until July 1. Was down 3.4 pounds on Saturday and have a WI tonight. I'm on purple. Reading the board is something I look forward to. Everyone is so encouraging and I like the give and take. A lot of good information. I was on something like this about 15 years ago and did really good, but didn't follow through on the maintenance. Now I'm older and wiser. (I hope) Bonnie brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 11:38 AM Well I just got back from WI and I have to say im pleased with my results i was down another 1.25 lbs!!!! So now i have to change my tickers lol. Made a goal of 1 lb by Thursday. Not sure how realistice that is but hey im gonna give it my best shot!!Ok im off to change my tickers and get me some breakfast. Be back later..... Britt WAgal 07-05-2005, 12:22 PM Good morning!!! Well, I stayed POP all weekend and my weight has stayed the same since Friday. I didn't exercise Sat. and Sun. but got right back to it yesterday with walking 3mi./1 hour on the treadmill, with 20 minutes of that on incline. I also started jogging last week and yesterday I got up to 7 minutes!! I want to go for 10 min. today. Guess I was hoping for some kind of a loss yesterday and today, but nothing!!! I am beginning to wonder if I am stuck and should think about doing the TO again. Its been 3 weeks since I first did it. I am also working out on the Bowflex about 15 min. and doing 200 sit-ups on my ball, plus bouncing on it for about 10 min.!!! I leave on my trip tomorrow and my go WI before I leave, which will be 2 hours out of my way. But think it might be a good idea. Britt~ WTG!!! That's an awesome loss, especially for a 3 day, holiday weekend!!! Bonnie~ So glad to have you join us!!! Welcome to the board. There is so much support here. I'll check back later to see if anyone else checks in. Have a great day all! vibrantecho 07-05-2005, 12:39 PM Britt - ya wanna take a little road trip and come unpack for me??? ;) As if moving weren't enough excitement for 4th of July weekend, my sister also ended up in the hospital with appendicitis! On moving day!!! My mom and her BF switched off staying at the hospital with her and helping us pack/unpack, but until about 3:00 in the afternoon we weren't even sure what was wrong with her, so that was a little nerve-racking (they did a CAT scan and found a cyst on her ovary, so they weren't sure if it was that or the appendix that was causing the pain). Thankfully, all went well and she is up and around again. Whew! Fiona juliemarie 07-05-2005, 12:45 PM Hey guys- I won't weigh in until tomorrow cuz of the holiday-speaking of, is there anyone else that would just like to avoid all social situations and staying at other people's homes because it just throws them off-plan like me? I thought I would be able to be in more control of Sunday-but ended up not getting in ANY fruit. The apple crisp we made from the LA cookbook was so bad it was inedible. I even sweetened some non-fat yogurt with splenda and topped the crisp with it but still ended up throwing it away. So ladies-do not bother with that recipe and any other one that calls for a bunch of sugar twin brown sugar-aftertaste from hell, I tell you. i can't wait for splenda to come up with their brown sugar. Anyway-I feel like being a hermit and staying home cuz it's so much easier. but yet-I have another road trip planned for this weekend-going to the country fair in Eugene. For those non-PNWs-it's a gathering of people who still think they're at a Grateful Dead concert in the 70s. The hippie-fair! Actually, I've never been-but it's got quite a reputation for being quite -ahem-"smoky". Congrats on the loss, Britt! And Cindy-maybe they should move you up a plan since you're exercising so much. Wouldn't hurt to try it for a week or two . . . . brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 01:02 PM Ok i finally got the weekend journaling updated lol that takes a while. I have to make a quick run to the grocery store to pick up 3 items so that I can have a POP day. Its gonna look like the weirdest stuff lol but im gonna get some Juice, canned peaches (paced in 100% juice) and black olives lol I decided to go ahead and plan out my food for the rest of the day just to be sure i could have a POP day and i think i have it planned out nicely. Oh i guess i need to pick up some potatos for the others as well lol We are having steak tonight so I know the guys will want potatos with theirs. However i will be having squash! ~Cindy You might be maintaining due to the increase in your exercise so just give it a week or so and see what happens maybe increase your water intake some. ~Fiona HAHA!!!! That would be a little bit of a roadtrip huh lol. However my week is gonna be slammed as it is! But goodluck with all your unpacking!! Glad to hear that your sis is gonna be fine its scary when that happens. Be back later have to run to wallyworld........ (well im gonna actually drive!!) Britt jane8760 07-05-2005, 01:11 PM Hi everyone.... I am new to you but not to this web site...I have been on the Atkins board for the last year or so. But have been slacking lately and gained all my weight back. I am desperately trying to do something again and I am considering doing LA Weight Loss again. I did it in 2001 and never lost ALL my weight but that is because I gave up....the cost was killing me. I have been reading some of your posts and see you have found alternatives to the foods you can get at the center. I would love more info on this. I think I say Pria bars in place of the LA Lite Bars...and Knudsen juice in place of the TO juice? Any others? I can't afford to officially join LA Weight Loss again...do you all think it is doable on my own? (of course with your help too ;) ) juliemarie 07-05-2005, 01:17 PM BTW PNWs (and maybe others)- Fred Meyer had Luna bars on sale for a buck apiece, in case you're interested. Jane-I'm new to both the boards and LAWL. I'm going to the center-accountablility is exteremely helpful. I don't know how well I'd do on my own, but there are people here who are doing it-I think some got the plans off of Ebay. I think you'd definately need to find those. You can get good accountability here too. Good luck! WAgal 07-05-2005, 01:27 PM Hello again, I have dye on my hair and thought it safe to sit at the pc!!! Just trying to cover a little gray!!! Juliemarie~ You are so right about social situations!!! When I am at home I feel so in control but when I'm out in the big world, not so good!! I did some baked beans using the Sugar Twin and they weren't too bad. I really made them for DH but I did have a teaspoonful. DH liked them. Then I tried making coleslaw dressing with equal and it was disgusting. be careful around that "smoke" down there in Eugene, I hear it can increase your appetite!!!!! He he!! Jane~ Welcome back!! I was told the Luna bars were very similar to the Lite bars. I really like the crunchiness better so I will switch out a Lite once in a while. I totally agree about the cost of this program!!! Okay, better go get the dye off my hair!!! Later losers!!! MetalChic 07-05-2005, 01:43 PM I make the good coleslaw for the family, and I make my coleslaw with one packet of splenda and light mayo. It's still good, but not as good :( brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 01:59 PM Ok back from my little trip to the store ended up going to Kroger cause it was closer. I do have a question for Cindy or Juliemarie or well anyone lol where can i find the sugar twin? I have yet to see it at walmart and not sure if i have looked at the other grocery stores. ~Karen/Metal LOL not to many things are as good when we make them healthier for us huh? We dont actually do coleslaw here that much so i dont have to worry about that not my fav thing anyway. Potato salad is so much better  !!!! ~Jane First off Welcome!!!! As Juliemarie said already accountability is a major reason why I joined. I actually purchases the plan on ebay first to get a better look at it before i joined and to help me make the plunge. I understand all to well how expensive it is as do the rest of us. There are a few on here that are not going to the center and using the ebay plans. Im sure they can clue you in on some tips they have learned. If you have any questions everyone here is really helpful and if we dont know the answer we will find it!!! or at least try lol. Luna bars are the best and most popular replacement for the lites around here at least and yes the Knudsen juice (Morning blend) is similary to the LAWL TO juice. I just used it last week in fact for two days and lost 1.75 lbs so its about the same. As for other things we have recently been discussing the body for life shakes they seem to be fairly close the LAWL Slimdown meal replacement shakes. Also i believe a while back we were discussing the Quacker Mini Rice Cakes taking the place of the LAWL popcorn and cheese curls. OK just saw something in my menu plan kit it says taht for weight loss the popcorn is 1 starch yet when you go into stabilization, maintenance its 1 starch & 1 fat lol sorry that just caught my eye. Thats all that comes to mind right now for cheaper replacements for LAWL products. Ok i have to get to work now so ill check back in later.... Britt debi d 07-05-2005, 02:13 PM Good mornin ladies.. I've been off for a few days with my DH and lovin it. I'm back, so is two lbs, but that's okay.. I was mostly on plan, except for the water thing.. It really makes a difference.. Working makes the eating schedule much easier for me.. Anyway, back on track.. I wasn't really that far off, but every little detour amounts to what go me here in the first place. It amazes me how just 2 lbs can elate or deflate me.. but I'm not letting it get me down, because I know that I did my best at making the best choices of what was in front of me. ;) I feel all welcome, with people missing me too  Welcome to the newbies, and we are all here to help.. I have limited knowlege, but am willing to share and support. Back to the fridge for more water.. juliemarie 07-05-2005, 02:19 PM Britt- I found the sugar twin at Fred Meyer and Safeway-I found it worked great in a teriyaki marinade, but the apple crisp called for 1/4 cup per serving-just too much. Also-I've noticed the Baked Cheetos and the Trader Joe's reduced fat cheese curls have similar ingredients/fat/carbs/calories, etc. I'm thinking of replacing the LA ones with these and weighing and bagging them up so I don't eat too much. What do you guys think? textjewel 07-05-2005, 02:23 PM G'day chicks! Finally faced the scale today - not pretty. Now tell me, how can I put on close to 10 pounds in 4 weeks? EEEEKKKK. Now, is this a good reason to be POP or what???? You betcha! As I'm drinking my second big cup of water. . . Fiona - sorry about your DSister - it's lucky that she went in to get it checked out. Regina - question for you - are there services, like gas, etc. on the road between Vegas and Tahoe - the US map I have makes it look pretty empty. Karen/MC - yes, maintainence is always the challenge, right? We are probably experts at WL now (most of us being serial dieters) and somehow I think it's easier to lose weight than to keep it off (if this makes sense?) Razzi - welcome! Glad to have you come out of lurk mode and join the fun. Britt - I think you should hire yourself out and be a part time organizer. Want to come to the DC area? Wow -and down after a holiday weekend! BTW - I usually find the sugar twin in the baking aisle by the sugar. Juliemarie - I understand totally what you mean about being a hermit - being POP is much easier without social situations. . . Hi Jane - I've found that the luna bars are the closest in nutrients to the LA lites --- and the Knudsen's Morning blend juice the closest to TO. The program is much more flexible now than it used to be - no more limiteds, etc, and the list of approved food is much bigger. You can certainly follow the program without going to the center! And we'll help all we can - it's really a matter of how much the accountability of going to the center helps you. Hugs to all, Julie MetalChic 07-05-2005, 02:31 PM Britt, the more I eat the "better for me stuff" the better I like it. I don't even want some of that "bad stuff" anymore. I have to admit, eating this way has become a welcome habit. I can't even tell when I use skim milk anymore in stuff, used to the thought of anything less than whole milk was nasty regardless of its use. I actually like the lite buns and bread better than regular white now. I usually get lite wheat buns or bread, I like it much better. I have developed alot of good eating habits with LAWL. Used to I was lucky to get a fruit in a month or veggies everyday (except maybe on a sandwich/burger). I never drank water, only Pepsi. Fish was another once in a while occasion and it was fried then. When I used to eat fried fish, it would make me feel yucky, tired, bloated, etc. the rest of the day; broiled fish doesn't do that to me. I eat much healthier now! As a child, my mother was anorexic. When she hit rock bottom (67lbs), she had to regain some weight to be able to function properly. She did try to keep weight off after she reached a safe weight, but the only thing I really remember her doing was using a sugar substitue. Well, she has regained everything she lost and more! I would say she weighs about 400lbs+ now and is only 4'10"; although, she would never tell me what she weighs. Needless to say, I didn't have a very good teacher on how I should eat. I left home when I was 14 and have been trying to control my weight on my own without any real guidance. LAWL has made a huge difference in my eating habits and how I feed my children. I finally can teach them the good habits that they need to have. I didn't know better so I was also teaching bad eating habits to my children. Things have changed alot with the kids. I keep fruit in the house now. You would be surprised how much fruit they will eat if it is avaliable. Fruit on the table is closer and easier for my daughter to grab than those cookies in the pantry. Also, both of my children have reduced their soda intake tremedously! My daughter only drinks soda when she goes to her dad's house for the weekend. My son also has started drinking more water; not as much as her, but more than he was for sure. My son has been staying with his dad alot over the past year and a half. He is 15 1/2, and you know how boys are about their fathers at that age. When he comes home, he is so happy to have home cooked healthy food, i.e. grilled chicken, broccoli, fruit, etc. If I have gotten nothing else out of LAWL, I am happy to get the knowledge to teach my children better eating habits. debi d 07-05-2005, 02:56 PM Karen, What a great example... I know how you feel. I had great metabolism and bad eating habits, but then the great metabolism left, I was at a huge loss.(and huge gain). Now, I get to teach my kids to grab fruit instead of chips and to cook better meals, than boxed throw together meals. They eat fresh raw beans instead of junk, I actually have to hide my portions of vegies and fruit, so that they don't chow down my work lunches.. it's a nice problem to have.. I believe that there is are 3 bag of chips in our pantry that have been there since June 9th. I bought them for a party we were having at the house, and the kids haven't opened them or even asked to. That is good progress in our home. WAgal 07-05-2005, 03:20 PM I'm back! I have looked all over for lite buns, like hamburger or hotdog buns. Where do you get them? Juliemarie~ I also like the Sugar Twin in the Teriyaki marinade. It was good. Later... debi d 07-05-2005, 03:54 PM SOS I am currently on the red plan 2.5 proteins/3 starch/4 vegies/3fruit/1dairy/1fat/lotsa water (no lites) I was exercising 4 times a week, looking at having a surgery soon and would not be able to exercise, I understand I will go down to purple for this time period. Could someone let me know the difference between red/purple? (I'm doing this on my own/and with you guys) Thanks for your help debi vibrantecho 07-05-2005, 04:08 PM Debi - Purple is 1 less starch and 1/2 less protein. The serving sizes are the same. Fiona debi d 07-05-2005, 04:13 PM  1/2 less protein.. thats my favorite... but alas, it is my destiny for thinness.. Thanks for the info textjewel 07-05-2005, 04:34 PM Debi forgive me if you've already posted this - are you doing the program without lites? otherwise, it seems to me you'd be on gold? Julie debi d 07-05-2005, 04:39 PM Julie Without lites.. so far.. all advice is welcome. kcreary 07-05-2005, 05:16 PM I still have one starch left for today...can i add one serving of pasta to the carb cravers pasta with lite tomato sauce? MetalChic 07-05-2005, 05:31 PM Has anyone ever tried Bill Phillips' Eating for Life? Does anyone have the book Eating for Life? textjewel 07-05-2005, 05:32 PM Kate - I've never done this exactly, but think it would be okay - try it and see what the counselors say? No Debi - you're fine, just checking, since your stats would generally mean gold - (I'm to switch from purple to gold once I reach 184). Julie debi d 07-05-2005, 05:59 PM Julie, I think purple is as low as I can go without lites.. I had planned on being on Red until I reached my goal of 145.. but this surgery thing will slow me down for a few weeks, so switching to purple is my plan B. that and lotsa water. dd brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 06:01 PM Afternoon all!!!!!! ~cindy I get my lite buns/bread at walmart and i have seen them at kroger. I also try to get wheat now instead of white cause Oprah says to remove all the white stuff lmao. ~Kate I dont do the CC meals however i dont see why not but then again i dont do them so im not really sure lol. ohhhhh wait till you chicks hear the latest SB update from Ruby i made her go ahead and tell me lmao but its great!!!!! Talk to you tomorrow ruby! The rest of you chicks have a POP day and ill see ya tomorrow. Britt brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 06:08 PM Karen/Metal I have the book! But you know i dont really recall if i started the program or not i got it not to long before i decided to do LAWL. They have a thread on here i think for the EFL and BFL i think is what its called or something similar to that. I will look for it tonight at home and see if i can find it but i bet you could find most of your questions over on the thread. Ill let you know if i can find it. Britt debi d 07-05-2005, 06:09 PM Britt, whats an SB and an Imao? brittyboo07 07-05-2005, 06:27 PM SB = StarBucks and its LMAO = Laughing My A-- Off Hope that helps! Britt debi d 07-05-2005, 06:32 PM Britt, it does,, I'm lmao about not knowing that after all my days on this planet. have a great day rubyshoes 07-05-2005, 06:43 PM DISCLAIMER: Long post to follow, be forewarned :s: Okay, I have thought about it and thought about it, and there is just no way to catch up with everyone, since I have been absent since Friday afternoon. So here is a blanket statement.....I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July, and that no one is needling themselves with unneccessary guilt, because we are all working on a lifestyle change. So have a great week already :D:D:D Well I did fine this weekend except for yesterday, in which I was horribly short on food, and ate a hot dog, which isn't on plan at all. Totally forgot my lunas and lites at home. So I doubt I am up because of the absence of almost all of my foods, but doubt I lost because don't hot dogs have an insane amount of fat in them? Oh well, one day out of my life won't kill me, plus I walked roughly 5 miles or so yesterday, and it was a glorious day to boot. *************** And now for the update I am sure you will all get a crack up over, it is time for the General Starbucks hour ;) Friday I left with so much infused enthusiam provided by my board mates (ie y'all telling me to get off my butt), that I couldn't help but decide that I must increase my flirting attempts with the young barista who has held my attentions. So on Saturday, armed with a suggestive tshirt, I went in with my back straight and a wide smile. Let me just tell you that I discovered a whole new side to my favorite coffee slinger! :o Saturday my tshirt read "eat your heart out"....he looks down, barks out a laugh and says "I did." As my eyes widen to the size of small saucers and my cheeks turn a shade of pink that rivals a sunburn, he laughs again and says "What can I say, I'm a cheap date..." When words continue to fail me, he switches topics and says "Are you coming in tomorrow, I have to work in the afternoon, you should come in". With a request like that, what's a girl to do? I told him that I would be in because I had some work to do that I probably wouldn't be able to concentrate on at home, so he said "alright, don't forget then" and winked. With such a wonderful boost to the ego, considering he had never before asked me when I would come back in, I was armed and ready when I went in on sunday with my tshirt that read "Love for Sail". He immediately grinned and said "hey that one is doubly great, I love sailing"....and then laughed about the other meaning. I really did have a writing project to work on, so I got my coffee and went to sit outside and work in the sun. He came out at least half a dozen times, I was there for about an hour and half. Each time he came out he would talk to me for a few, and a couple of times I wasn't paying attention and he would walk up and tap my shoulder and scare the life out of me. Coffee Guy: What are you writing? Me: None of your beeswax. CG: Is it a love letter for me? (insert big grin) Me: Yes, that is exactly what it is, a love letter to you. :dizzy: CG: Finally....jeez! Get back to work then! So then he comes waltzing out the side door once again, this time in street clothes, as he has apparently just gotten off work. The drooling now commences, as he looks extremely hot in a slouchy button down shirt, jeans and a backwards hat. Anyway, I digress...he looks down at the button on my purse, which is an old one that says "I give great hugs", and says; CG: I want a hug! Me: this is an old button, I can't believe you have never seen this one before CG: if I had, I might have mauled you As I pause to try to regulate my erractic breathing pattern, he chimes in again: CG: Don't forget to have that love letter finished by tuesday, and you don't have to wear a funny one tomorrow because I am not working. Me: no worries, I will finish it by Tuesday....have a fun 4th CG: I am going to Lake Washington to go skiing, it's going to be great Me: where is lake washington? CG: (insert goofy smile) where are you from?? Me: I have only lived here for a few years CG: its in seattle, I can't believe you have never been there, but don't worry, I will take you next time Me: Well, I don't ski.... CG: that's okay, you can just sit on the beach and drink coronas topless To which he gives another laughs, and casually saunters away. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I think my heart might quite possibly be too weak to take this flirting without destination....maybe I need a tag team to back me up? So to wrap it up, I am a big wus and have no clue how to follow up today. But you can rest assured that I won't be doing my normal SB's drive by, my writing will now most definitely be done in SB's versus on my couch :D This concludes our General Starbucks hour, I hope you have all enjoyed my yellow belly, we now take you back to our regularly scheduled programming  debi d 07-05-2005, 07:03 PM Ruby Love letter consists of 7 of your favorite numbers... hint, hint, He turned up the heat to get your attention, perhaps things were moving a bit to slow for him and he wanted to see where you were on the interest radar. You are not yellow bellied, and I'm sure he is just curious about where you are with being interested in him.... this is so cute.. keep us updated dd WAgal 07-05-2005, 07:21 PM Rubyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! OMGawd!! I can't believe after all that no one asked the other out!!! Geez! Can't wait for the next installment. vibrantecho 07-05-2005, 07:44 PM Ruby!!! AAAAAAAGH! Too fun, I miss flirting! (But I think I said that last "episode" LOL!) I've got my July ticker up...DH went shopping so there's proper food in our house...guess I'd better do this thing. :) Fiona EweWho 07-05-2005, 07:50 PM  I am pleased to report that even though I had a less-than-perfect on-plan weekend, I was down 1 pound today at WI. :D I had really puffy feet from sitting so much yesterday and fully extected to gain or at least remain the same! Karen ~ I know what you mean about catching up. I hate it when I am not able to keep up with what's going on. Grandkids take up too much of my time! LOL Isn't it funny how now that you can have it, you aren't diving into the pecan pie. It just shows how much you have really learned! Bonnie ~ Welcome! Are you going to join a center, or try it on your own? You will get a lot of support here! I for one need the accountability of facing the scale with someone looking over my shoulder! Britt ~ Wahoo! It's great when you see that scale say less than it did the last time, isn't it! It was a great challenge. Thanks! Fiona ~ I'm happy they found what was wrong with your sister. What excitement - the kind we love to do without! How is the baby colt doing? Any more pics? Juliemarie ~ I'm with you! I do so much better when I am just home by myself. If others are here I am too busy preparing for them and don't get my own meals in. Give me home and solitude any time! Jane ~ It sounds as though you know what you need to do, and I for one think you can do it! If you were able to lose weight on any other diet, you can do it on this one! Welcome! textjewel 07-05-2005, 07:54 PM Ruby -- I think he's made his move (he's even told you the next time he's going to be there!) - it's time for you to make yours - if you want to, have a plan of action - a movie, or something - get him out of SB, otherwise it might be distracting with his coworkers. . . About the light buns and rolls, this is a new one to me - are they OP? I think I've given away my info, and I'm going from memory most times - would a roll count as 2 starches? Julie EweWho 07-05-2005, 08:23 PM Ok, so I hit the submit button before I was through. :o Cindy ~ How did the hair turn out? I've been thinking of streaking mine, but am so vain about the lack of gray hairs that I've tended to leave it its natural color. They are there, but just few and far between. My dad didn't begin to gray until he was past 60 and I have his coloring. I'll be 55 in a couple of weeks and have a few gray ones scattered across the top of my head and one or two at the temples. Now if you want to discuss runaway long hairs that are in places they shouldn't be, that's another story! I've taken to having my face "threaded" by a wonderful lady originally from Iran. It hurt like  the first time, but now I'm used to it. She tells me that eventually none of the hair will grow back. I've had her do my feet three times because hubby has always said I have hobbit feet, square and hairy! :yikes: I've always shaved them in the summer. Now even if I miss going for a month, there is very little hair on them! Karen ~ I have a recipe for coleslaw from when I was doing low carb. It calls for Splenda, dry mustard and vinegar. I love it! I'll see if I can find it again and post it on the recipes thread. Britt ~ At our WalMart the brown Sugar Twin is on the top shelf. I missed it several times when looking because I wasn't looking up high enough. Maybe they were just out. If you can't find it, ask one of the workers roaming around to help you. Debi ~ You are so right about the water. I think that is the biggest thing that has been helping me in my weightloss! The more I drink, the thirstier I am! I love your attitude! Julie ~ Gas stations are few and far between. Prices will be ungodly too. When are you leaving? I'll call my mother and ask her where are the best places to fill up. According to Mapquest, it is 448 miles, so you should only have to fill up one time, even if you only get 250 miles on a tank. Tonopah is about half way. I'd make sure to fill up there. You don't want to be on the road stressing about how far it is to the next station because there are MILES between towns. Ruby~ Awesome SB update! I think you have created a monster with just your looks! Are you sure he doesn't come here and read the posts? It sounds like things changed so quickly he had inside informations! textjewel 07-05-2005, 09:09 PM Regina - I expect prices to be the  but for a trip, I don't really sweat it - if you need gas, you need gas. Thanks for checking with your DM for me! Julie buttonsinabox 07-05-2005, 09:46 PM  Ruby thats too funny.. He really does want to see what you'll do.. Did he scare you off or will you take the bait?? LOL The guys anymore are brave about what they say and when they say it... EweWho 07-05-2005, 11:38 PM I spoke with Mother and she agrees that you would be best to get gas in Tonopah. That will be about the halfway point and is just a little over 200 miles from Reno and from LV. It is one of the larger towns and you shouldn't have any problem finding a station. It should take you between 8 and 9 hours to drive it. I hope your plane arrives early enough for you to get an early start. Razzi 07-06-2005, 10:40 AM Good morning chicks. Thanks for all the welcomes. Regina- I am going to a center. WI last night and was the same as Saturday. Felt good for a holiday weekend. Everybody have an OP day. Bonnie MetalChic 07-06-2005, 10:44 AM Good Morning All! Thanks Britt, I was just wondering if the book was worth buying. I thought it might help me some in my maintenance journey.... ;) Thanks Regina, I've never had coleslaw with dry mustard that I know of. I have brought a piece of that pecan pie for my snack today. I'll have to see if I actually eat it or not. It counts as two starches and two fats. I get up to three fats now so that part won't be bad; it's just gonna take the rest of my starches for the day :( ; but for pecan pie, I think I will live. ;) Ruby, :coach: go get that coffee guy. :coffee2: He wants you! You never know, he might be the ONE! Even if not, I'm sure you can get a good time out of it; I know I would! :s: Girl, I have been known to be a bad girl if the guy is cute enough. :sssh:  I know I look forward to an update. :hyper: :gossip: :listen: Good Luck! :goodvibes :crossed: jane8760 07-06-2005, 10:54 AM Hi all....I posted here yesterday for the first time but I am officially on LAWL as of today. I was on this plan about 4 years ago. I have doing Atkins for a year but unfortunately I went off and gained it all back.....we all know that feeling! Well, I was looking for a way to lose it and dug out my old LAWL stuff. I decided to go to a center last night to see if I could purchase the LA Lites without joining and thankfully they said yes. I also got to talk to a counselor who GAVE me the new Gold plan since I was a previous member. I bought the new juice (I know the Knudsen stuff is supposed to be the same....) and she gave me the 2 day plan. I am really excited. I am going back tonight to buy the LA Lites...they are 40% off this month. I will get 7 weeks worth and that should be enough for now. After that I am going to try to find alternatives to those items but I wanted to start it off exactly on plan. I can't believe how much the plan has changed.....WINE AS A FRUIT :faint: Just my kind of plan! Now, I will need your help today and tomorrow trying to get through just eating green and meat :D Any tips would be wonderful......At least you can eat cheese. I have my trusty string cheese with me that I used to live on when I was on Atkins. For lunch I made a green as green salad with some tuna on top. I actually even measured the mayo!!!! I am hoping to get some great ideas and recipes from all of you. I have been on 3fatchicks for a couple years now and wouldn't follow ANY plan without it. I find the people to be the greatest. Well, that is it.....wish me luck! jane8760 07-06-2005, 11:03 AM Oh and Ruby.....I just read the Starbucks Hour post......WHAT A RIOT. I can now live vicariously through you. It has been a long time since I have dated. A little flirting now and then but don't tell my husband ;) Mitchypoo 07-06-2005, 11:39 AM Ruby~OMG! That is so cool. Wow, you have a gift in storytelling, i felt like i was there, overhearing your conversation and watching the chemistry and sparks between you. He is sooooo close to asking you out....Geez, ask her out already, would ya? I can't take it... Can't wait to read the next chapter.... WAgal 07-06-2005, 11:56 AM Good morning everyone!! Well, finally a loss on the ol' scales this AM!! From 213.6 yesterday to 212 this AM. Seems like when I do get a loss its a good one! I am going to WI in Portland today as it will be another good week before I can weigh in again as I leave for Spokane today. Yes, going to Portland will be 2 hours out of my way!!! Oh, well. I will miss all of you very much. I may check in on you all when I am at my DD's. But I won't have access to a comp. for the bulk of my trip. I have a cooler packed with lots of OP items as well as 2 boxes of Lites. Regina~ I got you email. My hair turned out okay. I don't have lots of gray but what I do have bothers me!!! I dye it my regular color, though. Jane~ I sure do wish you luck with your new goals in weightloss. I don't really have any tips for the TO days. They are kinda boring but do go fast. I am thinking about doing the TO again. Julie~ Have a safe trip! Bonnie~ Staying the same over a holiday weekend is fabulous!!! Okay, thats all I have time for. See you when I get back!! I'll miss you all! debi d 07-06-2005, 12:06 PM Jane I'm doing the TO today and tomorrow also. So, good luck honey.. I got my fresh snap peas and raw green beans.. diced chicken in a baggie so I can just grab and munch.. a small salad other greens, juice, water, water, water with a side of water.. and motivation wanna loose 20lbs the next two days, but will settle for three!!!!! :-)))))))) Your shrinking friend Debi weightylady 07-06-2005, 12:10 PM Hi. As you can see, I have been at 3FC for a long time, however, have not been really successful at any diet plan I've chosen. Weight Watchers seemed to allow too much for me, Atkins made me feel sick, so I've decided to try again with LAWL. However, I only have the old purple plan. I am a female, with no medical conditions, weigh 226 *ugh, did I really say that?* and get little to no exercise (can you l-a-z-y?). The plan I have is from several years ago. Can anyone tell me what has changed? Are there still limited starches that you can't have the days you eat beef, etc? And, does anyone have an old check-off form that they can mail me or something? I would appreciate any help!! You guys seem so encouraging and supportive, I really need to stick to this and know I can with your help! Today, so far, I've had one apple. jane8760 07-06-2005, 12:12 PM Debi, Oh good a fellow comrad! We can do this....she says as she munches on celery. I need to bring in some meat tomorrow! Question: What do we do about salad dressings? Are lite bottled ok? I have the cookbook from 2001 (which I noticed at the center last night hasn't changed). I let a friend borrow it and need to get it back. I think there were dressings in there. I have a lite italian with me today. jane8760 07-06-2005, 12:15 PM Weightylady: Do what I did...march yourself into the nearest center and since you are a previous member you can get the updated purple plan. I didn't know they would do that but I took the time to sit with them for a few minutes and they gave me the new plan. Plus....they figure they will sell you something I'm sure!!!!! debi d 07-06-2005, 12:21 PM Jane, I just stay away from all dressings, that way I can't screw this up.. but I do see posts of others that say they are using ff dressing.. (fat free) I'm not sure if it is store bought, or a particular brand, but someone here can answer that better.. If i use anything, I use a dabble of olive oil with garlic...drizzle.. not much at all..just gives the mouth the illusion of dressing. on to our project... i've had a couple snap peas and 3 cubes of chicken so far.. but it is only 812 am here. textjewel 07-06-2005, 12:48 PM Hi chickies, Dropped two of those  pounds this morning, it's a start in the right direction. . . There's a wrench in my PNW plans - my cousin with the ill Aunt says it's not the best time to come for a visit. . I haven't made up my mind what to do about this yet. . Regina, actually I'm coming up from Vegas to Reno, so I'll be able to get an early start that day. Thanks for the advice on where to get gas - it's a relief to know that there IS gas along the way! Jane, I use FF salad dressings - the new guidelines say to try to find ones with under 175 mg of sodium per tbsp - Weightylady - the program has really expanded - there are no more restrictions, really - except for limiting eggs to 6 a week -- it is really much more easy to follow. Some of the portions sizes have changed - since pasta and rice are no longer limited, the portion sizes have decreased to 1/3 cup. The beef and pork portions are up to 6oz uncooked for purple. (Please don't worry about your start weight - I started at just about the same poundage) WAgal - I tend to lose weight in clumps, too - it's just the way my body works! I've already had a liter of flavored seltzer water, not totally OP, but it's still fluid! Hugs to all, Julie WAgal 07-06-2005, 01:01 PM I'm back!! I haven't left yet. Debi & Jane~ You can have fat free dressing, any variety, less than 175mg sodium per tablespoon. Its counted as a condiment of which you are allowed 3 a day. Weightylady~ I agree with the above post that you should just go in as a past client. It doesn't HAVE to cost you anything!!! I have decided not to drive all the way to Portland this AM just to WI. It will be too much on top of my 5 hour drive to Spokane!!! I will WI next Wed. and hopefully have more to add to that pound!! debi d 07-06-2005, 01:24 PM Where do pickles fall into the plan? Are they a condiment or a no-no because of the sodium? No biggie, I just love em.. textjewel 07-06-2005, 01:50 PM Debi - no pickles, no relish - becuz of the sodium, I think . . I love them, too. debi d 07-06-2005, 01:55 PM :( thats what I thought.. I've avoided them the last two weeks because I wasn't sure.. I will keep it up.... on the up side.. I just tried that cherry covered chocolate Luna bar.. I'm not much on sweets, but holy cow.. this can't be legal.. I only had one bite because it feels like cheating.. is this for real? brittyboo07 07-06-2005, 02:11 PM LOL yall are a little chatty this morning. Just thought i would pop on and say hi been busy here at work. Probably will be the rest of the week since my Vacation starts next Tuesday. Cross your fingers for me there looks to be a hurrican coming towards Panama City for next week. I dont know which would be worse the sharks or the hurricane lol. Ok well im actually hungry today so im gonna go have my lunch now and ill check back in later.... Britt WAgal 07-06-2005, 02:18 PM Hi all, Debi~ I haven't tried the cherry-choc. Luna bar!! Haven't even seen it. I will have to look for that one! The Smores is a real good one, too!!! They're supposed to be LEGAL!!! the Lites and Luna bars do help you to feel you are getting something sweet. Sure beats a candy bar. One thing about LAWL is that you really have to watch the sodium, which is what the Am. Heart Asso. says you need to do. My father had congestive heart failure and he really had to watch his sodium. I met with his nutritionist and found out just how much sodium we are supposed to have and its exactly what LAWL recommends. jane8760 07-06-2005, 03:01 PM Cindy: Good to know. So many people criticize some plans and when one is doing something right it just makes you so proud! So are Luna bars REALLY legal? I know they fall within the same nutritional values as the LA Lites but are they really? WAgal: Fat free salad dressings!!!!!! I would rather die! :barf: brittyboo07: Forgive me for this comment...seeing as I am new...but up here in MA they have been doing news story after news story about how to keep your kids safe from shark attacks. I say "how about keeping them out of the water" :lol3: textjewel: Congrats on those 2 pounds! I can't wait till the end of this week to see how I have done. I thought Seltzer water was ok???? debi d: How about the sugar free relish made by Mt. Olive? I wonder if that is ok....probably has the same amount of sodium...but then why is ketchup allowed? Well, I've decided to set a 45th birthday goal for myself of 10 pounds. It is Aug 7 so that is going to mean I have to keep to the plan at all times. :crossed: textjewel 07-06-2005, 03:50 PM Jane - seltzer is okay - I think they suggest 16-24 oz a day -and plain is a sub for water, I think - however, mine was flavored - now I'm just trying to get more real water in. About the Luna bars - they are probably not recommended by LAWL, but I do use them interchangably with LA lites, and have had good luck with them. I've never met a luna that Ididn't like, and they are a nice switch off -- Why ketchup and no pickles? good question - I'd have to label check the sodium on a tbsp of ketchup. I don't think it's a question of sugar - even dill pickles are not recommended. Julie brittyboo07 07-06-2005, 03:51 PM LOL Jane yeah that seems to be the popular topic right now is the sharks i still want to go into the water but just the very edge of it my mom and dad said im not going in at all lol i keep reminding them that I am an adult. But they had a special on the News last night since of the shark attack victums happens to live in the Nashville area about how to stay safe and what to do and not to do. It was very interesting lets just say im not going in near the pier anymore lol. I had never thought about the people at the end fishing having all that bait in the water and how that could attract sharks but that makes perfect sense now lol. Anywho just dropped by just finished my lunch so wanted to stop in before i head back to working. ill check in later..... Britt jane8760 07-06-2005, 03:53 PM Maybe when I swing by the center tonight to pick up some food I will ask if there is a relish that is acceptable. debi d 07-06-2005, 04:12 PM I think I will just skip pickles all together, instead of tease myself with substitutes.. I like the dills.. nothin like em mmm mmm mmm.. I should get back to the grind, talk to y'all tomorrow. debi shar3kids 07-06-2005, 05:03 PM Hi All, Just read back through the entries and there are lots of new people! Awesome!! Having never been a terribly active board poster, I'm here to own up to the disasterous last week I've had and admit that I've gained back around 3 pounds.... ACKKK! And just as I'm trying to get as much weight off as possible before my SIL's July 19th wedding. Dang it! Its funny how I'd been so motivated and losing weight and then all of the sudden I started slipping until I finally lost my footing all together. I wasn't dreadfully bad but I was really close to it. :dizzy: I was down to 221, but now I'm back up to 224/225 so I've kept my avatar the same. I really wanted to be in the 20Xs by the wedding. So, I'm here to say that I'm turning over a new leaf and I'm going to be good. No, I'm going to be perfect!! I think I'll do take-off tomorrow and Friday and do the drink a meal thing a few days a week. I'm not sure what to do about my journal over the past week. I dropped the whole thing, plan included, into a puddle of water a few days ago. Maybe I'll just say the whole thing is unreadable in more ways then one and hope they give me a new one and forget about it. :sssh: Anyway, I'm glad to see so many new people with such great attitudes. It'll help me get back on track! Sharlene mandyd26 07-06-2005, 06:51 PM Hey Ladies- Hope you all had a happy 4th. I just had to catch up on posts since Saturday. It took a while. :) Julie-I'm sorry about your Aunt. Just keep us posted. Boy I had all of these comments, but I read so many posts that I can't keep them straight.... Ruby- Loved the story. You really do have a way with story telling. I felt like I was right there also. Britt-Good job at losing over the holiday weekend. What a great accomplishment. Debi d- You get pickles back as a free food in Stabilization. So you can look forward to that. :) I love pickles, but haven't eaten one yet. Metalchic-You are an inspiration. I really enjoyed your post about learning how to eat healthy and teaching your kids good eating habits. I can't wait until week three of stabilization (extra starch). I start week two tomorrow. Well, I didn't do too bad over the weekend. We went to my Mom's for a campout/bbq. I tried to eat as close to plan as I could. I strayed a few times though. Anyway, I gained about a pound over 2 days, but lost that pound after eating POP for one day. So I feel good about that. I think my body is starting to get used to the exercise, so maybe I'll get back to 143 soon. If I don't that'll be ok. I'm just enjoying the exercise and like feeling stronger. Well, I will talk to you guys later. Mandy EweWho 07-07-2005, 10:37 AM <snip> Thanks Regina, I've never had coleslaw with dry mustard that I know of. I've posted the recipe in the thread titled Recipes. The first time I made it I couldn't find my dry mustard so I just used regular and it turned out fine. I like to keep the dressing in one of those bottles you buy in the supermarket that is for mayo or dressing. I drizzle it over the cabbage because I have never been one for much dressing in my salad or coleslaw. EweWho 07-07-2005, 10:40 AM I'm back!! I haven't left yet. <snip> I have decided not to drive all the way to Portland this AM just to WI. It will be too much on top of my 5 hour drive to Spokane!!! I will WI next Wed. and hopefully have more to add to that pound!! Have a safe trip to Spokane, Cindy. How often do you weigh in? textjewel 07-07-2005, 11:52 AM HI chickies - I am now glued to the news service because of the explosions in London. Esp since I was just there four weeks ago. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. There is *Nothing* like being in a town where there has been a terrorist attack. Hugs, Julie (reliving the attack on the Pentagon) debi d 07-07-2005, 12:51 PM My heart goes out to all our European chickies and those with families ties and friends there.. It is a sad, sad day. In a world where violence tries to control the world and our activities, we have to hold on to the one thing we are all here expressing.. Hope for better. On this site it is hope for better living and health and bodies. In the things that snap our attention away from our trivial worries, I hold out hope for peace to overrule the sadistic upbringing and brainwashing of a society where the only way to be heard or make a difference is to blow yourself and 40 of the closest unfortunate people up. To make a statement that only proves the depravity of a lifestyle that simply cannot work. I realize that we have international sisters and brothers here, and this is not simply the ramblings of what other countries my perceive as an egotistical country, but the obvious situation that we are all just sick of terrorists. They are the minority, but they are completely out of control with their goals of genecide. Their insane attempts to rid the world of everyone who doesn't think the path to heaven and their allotted 13 virgins (yeah right)is paved with bodies of innocent people. Excuse my ranting.. I'm just sick of this crap. We do need to pray, pray for the families that have lost, pray for the country who has been attacted, pray for the next country on their list, pray for the country that brings their children up to believe that these types of actions are just standard operating procedure.. I'm done now, thank you for indulging me.. this is not a political forum, but I feel you are my friends. PS no weight loss:-(... not the biggest deal today. Debi debi d 07-07-2005, 12:53 PM pray for the sister that cannot spell today :-) mandyd26 07-07-2005, 01:19 PM Hi Chicks. I have only watched Disney movies this morning and then I came and checked this board. I'm going to go read the news.... Julie- Glad you're home. Mandy vibrantecho 07-07-2005, 01:21 PM Only one radio station was reporting the news on my drive in to work this morning - I could hardly believe it. Fiona brittyboo07 07-07-2005, 01:32 PM Morning all. I would say good morning however that is not the case. So many negative things going on in this world. Debi i totally agree with everything you have said. Julie I am thankful that you made it back safe and sound before this act of terror occured. I agree with you It has been several years since I was in London however I remember it fondly and look forward to the day I return for a visit. It is heartbreaking to see such a wonderful place thrown into chaos by such cowards. I am deeply saddened to see the continuation of terror by these people towards countries that are trying to better this world as a whole. I hope that those leaders at the G8 summit in Scotland who have not been behind the destruction of terrorism will now see what truely needs to be done. Something has to be done this world can not go on like this. On a lighter note....I had my WI this morning and was up about a pound due to my cycle so not worried about it at all. I am worried about the hurricane that seems to be making a path towards my vacation destination for next week. I am going to work on backup plans i guess just in case. I know we wont really know till the weekend which way Dennis is gonna move once it hits the gulf but im crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Well i am off to get the latest update on the hurricane and the news. check back in later. Oh yeah if im not mistaken there is someone on here fairly new if i remember correctly that is from the UK not sure how close to London. But i do hope that you and your family are doing well. Also anyone else here who has family or friends there now i will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers as well as London and the UK. Britt 912go 07-07-2005, 01:58 PM I was wondering if anyone has tried the new supplements..... exel? when i went in to get weighed today, she told me about it, so i was jw. also, finally got measured today. At 5 weeks, I'm down 17.4 lbs., and 10.4 inches! yay!! :) solocat 07-07-2005, 02:08 PM So very, very sad that the state of world peace comes to power thrusting. I am sending my hopes and wishes to those who are in the UK or have family and friends there.... Not much to report here. Have been innundated by company coming and staying and garage sale, kitchen remodel. But my weight sort of remained the same despite the stress. My counselor at WI yesterday kept telling me I am funny.....I have all the stinkin' thinkin' down pat...*LOL* But she encouraged me..and has challenged me to be OP throughout the weekend...and I love challenges. Julie...I am sorry to hear about your aunt. Hope you enjoy your vacation. And if there is a PNW meeting...I am up for it - although evenings work best for me. On to tasking. I took the day off to get things done... buttonsinabox 07-07-2005, 04:54 PM well guys day 2 of TO so far so good.. Thank goodness the days almost over though,, it is right?? please say yes.. lol just a tip for TO boiled egg whites do last thru the day since its 12 of them, also sugar snap peas work out great and so does cutting the bars into 4 pc each and then putting them in a baggy together... Finally someone gave me ideas for doing this The Manager offered the above suggestions and also said not to think of it as eating for 2 days but getting to snack all day for both days.. lol arrgghhhhhhhhh Its working though woohoo oh yeah so far so good with the knudesons too... I'll let you all know how well this went tomorrow... textjewel 07-08-2005, 10:51 AM Good morning, chickies, Thankfully, the news is that London is getting itself dusted off and back on its feet. . Want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers for my family - I guess I'm reaching the age where I'm losing the ones ahead of me - the people that have been part of the family picture since I was a baby. I've had 3 days of being pretty much POP which Is A Relief. Drinking water, staying OP. Even had a steak salad when I went out to dinner last night, and resisted desert. I am proud of myself. It helped that a pair of size 16 trousers were tight when I put them on. Nothing like clothes to remind you of what you REALLY want. Beth, I like the idea of looking at TO as a day of snacking. Makes it much easier than to look at it as denial. Cathy, I'm with you in a weekend challenge. I have a meeting to go to tomorrow, at a buffet place - there is NO REASON that I have to eat everything provided, right? And desert? I mean, my name won't be written in the book 'She didn't Seize Every Opportunity To Eat' will it? And even if it is, is that a bad thing? Britt, have my fingers crossed for you about Dennis! Hugs, Julie Karen 07-08-2005, 11:12 AM Good Morning Chicks, I'm baaaaaack... :D I'm also back at work today...yuk..I had a great time being off and being able to spend it with my family..My Dad left this morning heading back to Maryland.. :^: We spent alot of time on the boat and in the water and a good time was had by all... ;) I ate and ate the whole time I was off and I'm right back up to 177.2. How awful is that... :( I'm starting back OP today instead of Monday..I made a deal with my Dad about us both losing this weight. He probably has about 25 pounds to lose. You can't tell it that much on him though because he almost 6'4". But anyway, that will really help keep me on track..So, I'm going to need all the help I can get... I haven't been able to catch up on the posts yet but I will today so I can see what I've missed..I hope all is well with everyone.. Talk to you all later... MetalChic 07-08-2005, 11:41 AM Good Morning Chickies! I am almost finished with stabilization. Only a few more days left. I did have that one piece of pecan pie the other day, and it was good. I had cornbread last night too. I love all of these new food choices. I start maintenance on Monday. My weight has leveled out; although, it pretty much had anyway so I guess it's good that I'm not gaining considering all of the extra food and new food choices that I have been eating. Laters! textjewel 07-08-2005, 01:19 PM Karen - I have to ask - did you feel guilty when you had that pecan pie? It's AWESOME that you are almost finished with stabilization. I must admit, I am worried - I seem to put weight on so fast, I'm not sure I'll ever reach a maintenance level. . . MetalChic 07-08-2005, 02:12 PM I did feel a little guilty, but I knew it was allowed.... It counted as two starches and two fats so I don't think that will be an often occurence. ;) buttonsinabox 07-08-2005, 02:17 PM Karen you'll be back down in no time!!! Julie No you don't have to eat everything on the buffet. Eat what you want thats OP of course (lol) and when your done push your plate away and have them take your silverware too, that way you'll have to ask for new ones and you probably won't... Thats how I delt with the $35 pp buffet that we went to, Yeah im still hearing about from hubby... lol WI this morning down 5.6 lbs after doing TO with knuedsons.... thats what im using for it from now on.. lol rubyshoes 07-08-2005, 05:17 PM DISCLAIMER - another novel on the way :p Good morning, ladies! Sorry I have been absent for so much this week, but work has called upon most of my attention and haven't had much down time. So I will try to keep up with everyone, I am soooo sorry if I miss anyone. Welcome all newbies - its a great place to be, with 100% support. Julie - I am glad that you made it back before hand, but I know exactly what you are talking about. I had been in the World Trade Center several times to meet a friend for lunch. On 9/11, I spent the morning furiously trying to reach Harry to see if he was alright. Turns out that his company had just moved their offices to midtown Manhattan, three weeks prior, and that the move was roughly a month ahead of schedule. I had never felt so relieved in all my life. Britt - How goes the process of tracking Dennis? I will keep sending good mojo your way. Although I will miss you terribly while your gone, my little yahoo buddy! 912go - I haven't heard of those sups yet, but then again, my counselors know better than to try to sell me any of them, because I told them from the getgo that I wasn't interested in them - I think it even says on my file "do not sell"....lol solocat - I use humor at my sessions too, I love most of my counselors....cept for Inga the Terrible. They offered me a job there, I told them not unless I could wear jeans and tshirts to work...heh buttons - I have no advice for TO, because I never do it. It just does nothing for me. I don't lost like everyone else does on it. I try to stick closer to using the Slim Downs instead. RWF - WELCOME BACK!!! You were on vacation, and its in the past. Wipe the slate clean and move forward. 5lb goals honey, 5 lb goals :D And you know we are all with you every step of the way! Karen - I am so proud of you. You are my idol. I know that this leg of my journey is going to run slower than the beginning, but I just feel like I am ready for another breakout. Does that make sense? So I knew that I was horribly off plan on Monday because of all the food I missed, as well as the hot dog I had, but when I had my weigh in on Tuesday, I wasn't up by much. I went in on Thursday, and I am back down, so I am glad I didn't go through the trouble of changing my ticker :p I had to see Inga the Terrible because there were only two working at the COD yesterday. She complimented me on my eyeshadow.....gimme a break. I was polite, but I still don't like her. **************** And now, we take you to our previous broadcast of the General Starbucks hour. Today's content may be slightly editted due to the nature of content :s: Tuesday was a rough day at work, so I got out of the office rather late, and by that time, I was just too exhausted and run down to even think about being entertaining, so I just drove my tired rear home and climbed onto my couch. I felt like I was skipping the best part of my day, but I didn't want to face anyone feeling like I had been run over by a truck, so c'est la vie! Wednesday was the day. I decided that I would be able to guage things the best by what his attitude was like, if he were working of course. So, after careful consideration in the morning on what I should wear, I made the absolute appropriate choice of tshirts, which I will get back to later  So I had some issues on a piece I had been writing where the editor basically slashed the entire thing to pieces, which made me extremely happy (insert innate sarcasm here). I decided that since I had great luck working at SB's last time, that I would attempt to revive the same routine. Sometimes, the force is indeed with you ;) I went in and right away he gave me a wide toothed grin and asked how things were going. I gave a scrunch faced look and said that I had a lot of work today because my editorial looked as if it was bleeding by the amount of red ink splashed across the page! He asked if he could read it, but I told him that if I allowed that sort of thing, that I would have to kidnap and hold him hostage to protect my secret identity. He told me that didn't sound so bad. I almost gave him the piece to read immediately, but decided to hold myself in check. Then, as I was trying to look cool and collected, I of course had trouble with their triple child-proof lock containers for the creamer :o . So had to take it to the counter and have him open it for me, real smooth. He said that in exchange for opening it for me, I would owe him a hug. Now normally, this is the time when I would freeze up, but you gals would have been proud, as I was able to smile and tell him I was ready any time he was! Well at that point I figured I had better get to work if I wanted to finish the revisions that Josh wanted done to the piece he had slashed to smithereens, so I got started. There were several small conversations that held my attention greatly, but I am sure would bore the rest of you to tears, so I will spare the mundane details for my journal :p Then there was a rather racy flirtation comment, that I think should probably be left out to keep the board PG-13  As my timing was dwindling, and the traffic in SB's was picking up, I thought that I should take my table outside, because I really wanted to finish for the night and needed to concentrate. As I was working on the very last paragraph of revisions, I realized that Rachel had come outside to pull the tables up because they were closing. I noticed that I had spilt some water on the table and thought that I should run inside and grab a napkin quick so that she didn't have water run down the front of her shirt, I would have felt bad. I had pretty much given up on CG, thinking that my window had pretty much closed for the night, so I was going to pack it on in. When I went in to grab a napkin, CG was standing by the counter where all the sweeteners, child-proof creamers and napkins were, and asked me how things were coming along. I explained to him that since I wasn't getting paid for the piece anyway, that I was pretty much done with it for the night, and that if Josh didn't like it, he could take his red pen and shove it right were the sun didn't shine. CG:  That's great, besides, tell him that BS sells! Me: He should know, that is what his publication is pretty much all about. CG: Packing in it for the night then? Me: Yeah, I just came in to get a napkin because I spilt some of my water - the container wasn't childproof. ( I am lame, I never claimed otherwise you know) CG: You should grab two. Me: (raised brow)....um oooo kay? (as I grab two of them and look back) CG: (pulls his magic marker out of his apron) Now leave me your number on one of them. I think I might have hyperventilated just a wee bit, though its quite possible that it was only in my head. What I think might have been an eternity to me, only lasted a milisecond - as I recovered, smiled, and grasped the pen right out of his hand and slanted my cell number across the napkin!! He smiled at me and told me to have a great night, which he didn't know he had already made fantastic, and I left with the goofiest smile I may have ever had, spread wide across my face. I even went home and cleaned my entire apartment, all from the energy that was produced from one 30 second conversation. So now comes the easy part....waiting for that phone call  . Being a girl is tough stuff! In case you think I have forgotten, I hadn't. The choice of tshirts hasn't come back up yet, because strangely enough, CG never brought it up that day. But aren't you all just a little bit curious as to what my choice of the day was? I didn't even really remember until I got home that night and was brushing my teeth and looked down, and read down the front of my thsirt: "Today is My Lucky Day!" How about that? Another episode of the General Starbucks hour has concluded, I hope you have all enjoyed my overly neurotic behavior, and will teach your daughters how NOT to act like an idiot around men. :dizzy: solocat 07-08-2005, 05:39 PM Yay Ruby!! It sounds as if you were far from lame in your response... I am glad to hear things are moving forward...and ummmm, where did you buy that t-shirt?? Congratulations Karen! :cp: You give me hope for reaching my goal and then on to stabilization and maintenance. I have this wonderful ability to talk myself out of diets because I future-trip over what I might never get to taste again.... I know....it is silly. Julie...how about if we tag-team it to maintenance? We can do this! Went to WI today, feeling like I hadn't lost anything...BUT...I went down 3.5 pounds (2 days of OP with TriMax + FB500 did work!)! I know part of the reason is I was WI this morning versus late afternoon...but still - it went down! Now I am so jazzed I beat that 190 mark, I am motivated to be OP all weekend - even at DBF's house. The cooler is packed with my kind of food and I'll let him know I want and need his support. Off to task, but I hope all of you have wonderful weekends! MetalChic 07-08-2005, 05:45 PM Thanks Yall.... :thanks: :bravo: Ruby! I am so proud of you... Mitchypoo 07-08-2005, 06:01 PM Ruby~love it, love it, love it!!! So happy he asked for your number, now you know he's interested and you don't feel like you have to make the first move. I had a date this Wednesday, it went well, i'm going to see him again on Sunday, but sorry girls, my dating life isn't as exciting!! vibrantecho 07-08-2005, 06:04 PM Seriously, Ruby, not only are you AWESOME, you're a great writer!!! I'm so proud of you! You should see me grinning like an idiot here at my desk at work, resisting the urge to cheer out loud!!! :cheer:  Now, where DO you get all these cool tshirts????? Fiona textjewel 07-08-2005, 07:05 PM Ruby YOU GO GIRL! That's terrific! (the only thing I'd done if I'd had the nerve was to ask him for his-- but no, then you'd wonder if you should call, or he should call, etc. . . much better this way) BTW - thought of you on Wednesday, as Roman Holiday and Sabrina was on Turner Classic Movies - I think Sabrina is one of my top 10 faves. Michelle - Now, where do you meet all these men??? Cathy -yes we can tag team to maintainance! Good luck this weekend. Fiona - how's the house? And the horsies? I hereby sprinkle POP pixie dust over all of us for the weekend . . Hugs, Julie rubyshoes 07-08-2005, 08:32 PM solocat - trust me, I was a lamo, but I tried to contain it as much as possible...lol! That tshirt came from American Eagle Outfitters. Karen - don't be, I didn't do anything :p Now I am all sitting on pins and needles waiting for the dang phone to ring. I saw him yesterday and he was friendly and flirty as usual, but it was a drive by visit, so it didn't go far. Mitchypoo - The only reason mine sounds exciting is because I am such an idiot. If I had been smart, I would have gone with Julie's suggestion and got his digits. Now its just a waiting game :dizzy: So what are you two doing on Sunday? Maybe I can live my date vicariously through you! Fiona - how goes the house-capades? Thanks for the compliment, although I have no published credits to my name - YET! Still working on it. I will pass you ladies the link if it ever happens. As for the tshirts, I think I have mentioned before how much of a tshirt junkie I am, I can't seem to get enough of them. I find them all over the place. My biggest hot spots are American Eagle Outfitters, Torrid, and Hot Topic, all the rest are a miscellaneous bunch. Julie - I thought about that AFTER I left. I can't help it, the guy freezes me up with that toothy grin. The phone still hasn't rung, but it hasn't even been 48 hours, and all men have this imagined arbitrary number that they yank from mid-air about the time frame in which to call. "I have to wait for the second day of the waning moon, when the tide is at three quarters, and hop on one foot as I dial the number." whatever  Maybe I'll go in tonight and he will just suggest something killer to do tonight, as I am pretty much flat busted for plans. I have an Audrey Hepburn boxed set, I just adore her, but my top three faves are Breakfast At Tiffany's, Sabrina and Roman Holiday....lucky you, you got to see two of my top three :D textjewel 07-08-2005, 10:04 PM Ruby - I'm sure he'll call -- I can't wait for the next installment -- I'll be checking in tomorrow! textjewel 07-09-2005, 10:11 AM Good morning, chicks. Well, Ruby, any update from last night? The scale hasn't moved in the past few days. And today is the lunch at the buffet place. Now, isn't a no-scale-move a good reason to stay OP as much as I can? Cathy, are you down to 40 pounds to go - I'm really trying hard to get that level. And when did you start using the sups? As usual, I'm behind. Okay, you PNW chicks. On the road, what kind of restaurants can I find, like on the interstates? Fast food is okay, but I'm looking for chains that have a broader menu. Julie Mitchypoo 07-09-2005, 12:27 PM Ruby~Barry and i met for dinner at Applebee's last Wednesday, i really went in with a casual la-di-da attitude, i just decided not to obsess over it and get nervous. The fact is, we either would like each other in person or....not. And if he didn't care for me, whatever, i don't have to take it so personal. His opinion does not determine my worth. I met him online, i had been talking to him for awhile on the phone and i felt comfortable meeting him. We had a nice dinner, we had no real lack for conversation, he's nice and funny. I call him Mr.Minnesota because he sounds like he was the speech coach for the movie Fargo! He asked if he could see me again towards the end of dinner, maybe we could go to the movies next time, i told him i'd like that. We talked about spending Sunday together and looks like that's what we'll do. We're meeting for church at 11:00, then we're going to find a park and go for a walk (he's a big walker), and then going to lunch and then going to the movies to maybe see War of the Worlds. I'm interested in the movie, despite Tom's antics lately which make me want to gag... So we'll see what happens. EweWho 07-10-2005, 12:23 AM Not enough time tonight to catch up on all the posts, but boy, am I glad Ruby posted on this last page! What a read! You go girl! And Mitchypoo, I'm glad things started off casually enough for you to be relaxed about the whole thing. Who knows, if things don't work out romantically, maybe you will have a great friend!! Bed time. I hope I can catch up tomorrow after church! textjewel 07-10-2005, 08:33 AM Good morning, chicks - Hope all of you are enjoying the weekend! I survived the buffet lunch - I really was able to keep myself to a plate of salad, fresh fruit salad, fresh spinach and green beans, and a fried chicken breast (from which I diligently removed the skin) -- I was rewarded with going back down 2 pounds today. Now I only have 8 more pounds to go to reach my lowest weight, and then to continue on . . I think wearing a pair of tight jeans helped, too. . Maybe this time it turned into a lapse instead of a relapse! Have a great day, chicks! Julie Julinstl 07-10-2005, 11:30 AM Good Morning Everyone, I was wondering whether anyone had a good recipe for lasagna that's OP?? Thanks Jewel henrygirls 07-10-2005, 12:02 PM You ladies move fast! Love an active board! What a week it has been over here in England! Thankfully we were not directly impacted by bombs. DH often travels into London on business - he was there on Wed and was suppose to go in on Fri (but was rescheduled). We were living outside NY when Sept 11 happened and now living outside London. I guess I am not as shocked about this one as I was one Sept 11. Everyone was just kind of expecting it would happen at some point. It is interesting to see the way the Brits just kind of continue "business as usual". London saw a lot of bombs during WW2 and have dealt with the IRS terrorism for many years - so they have a defense mechanism. I just got some bad news~! They have closed the LAWL centers in England - the franchise has gone out of business. I read on another message board they were discontinuing Trimax, so I thought maybe I would get some over here. I was shocked to find this out. Not sure what I am going to do for my bars?!? I am trying to get some £££s back from the bars I pre-purchased. ARGH!!!! Open to any suggestions! It is hard to import these via mail. I will check for the Luna bars over here. Had 3 weeks of company (eating and drinking) -- everyone is gone! YEAH! Much easier to diet without all the distractions! I am right at 172 (have been +/- 2 lbs for about a month) -- can't wait to see the 160's !!! Julie - I live west of London by about 2 hours in the county of Gloucestershire - right in the middle of the Cotswolds. It is a beautiful part of the country. Mandy and Karen - you are an inspiration to have lost 90 lbs!!!! WTG! Britt - good job on losing another 1.5 lbs! Fiona - Just be glad your life isn't boring?! Sorry you have had such chaos! Jane - I am trying it on my own too! You will be in good company! Linda - WTG on the 17.5 lbs!!! textjewel 07-10-2005, 12:14 PM Hi Jewel! Are you looking for a recipe to take somewhere, or trying to satisfy a Lasagne craving? If it's the craving, I've found the easiest thing to do is to use the Lean Cuisine/Healthy choice options. If you're trying to make it, it's really tough staying OP, because the pasta portions are so limited - I think one serving is about 2/3 of an oz (1/3 cup)? I guess one lasagne sheet is 1 or 2 oz - play around with the numbers and see what you can come up with. You could try something with no sodium tomatoes or tomato sauce, and use cottage cheese and eggs - parm cheese, hmm, not sure how to count that. Michelle - so glad that you and your family are safe! I drove past the Pentagon just before it was hit on 9/11 - so I was reliving that day, too. Too bad about the centers closing - you should definately find a way to get your $$$/(no symbol on my pc for pounds!).. About the luna bars, I think some chicks have ordered them from Amazon, and I know you can get them on ebay - but have no idea what the postage would be. In any event, I can't imagine that the UK doesn't have some sort of sports/nutrion bar that's around 180 cals, and at least 10 gr of protein a serving. Also - alot of people sell LAWL stuff on ebay - for the trimax, etc. . . Julie Julinstl 07-10-2005, 01:36 PM Julie, I am wanting lasagna really really bad and thought I'd fix it for my family. I've been trying for about a week to look around and see if I could find low sodium pasta sauce, etc. LOL my poor family...I've just been cooking for myself lately. But they are old enough to fend for themselves. 20 and 23. I'll keep looking and try to figure out something. To all the rest of you on the board...I absolutely love reading the threads. Makes me feel like really good. I still can't figure out how to get my little weight loss measuring ticker to be on my post. Well, I'm headed for the pool. Hope you all have a great day. Jewel textjewel 07-10-2005, 02:53 PM Jewel - low sodium is probably really hard to find - you may try to make it yourself out of low sodium/no salt tomato sauce. Ragu does make a light sauce - I think I found it once in the pasta section .. otherwise, try the dietetic section in the grocery? OR - maybe a store like Whole Foods? To add the ticker - go to the User CP in the upper left corner - click, then select Edit your signature, then above the box is the ticker - follow the instructions! Julinstl 07-10-2005, 10:36 PM Thanks Julie. I think I figured it out. :dizzy: SyracuseNY 07-11-2005, 09:44 AM Hi Ladies: I'm back from vacation. Weather was awesome! Sunny and hot, just the way I like it. Humidity was pretty low for the area, only 1 hot steamy day. Did not stay OP at all. I tried but didn't do such a good job. The only thing I can say is the clothes that I brought with me still fit. Our cottage had 3 flight of stairs just to get to the main living area, so I did get in some exercise (lol). I'm glad that I normally exercise because it was a hike for DH the first few days. I love it hot, but loved the fact that the central AC was one of the best working/cooling ACs that I've seen in any of the cottage rentals we've had in the past. Star: I'm in for the challenge. I haven't eatten a thing yet today, and I'm going to start today - although I may not make it to the center until later this week. Julie (TextJewel): Hi! Wondering how your doing since being back from vacation? Ruby: Did your cellphone ring yet? Well, I'm going to get reading some more of the posts I missed. Hugs to all, Sy MetalChic 07-11-2005, 09:55 AM Welcome Back SY! We missed you! textjewel 07-11-2005, 10:27 AM Good morning, chicks! Welcome back, Sy - missed you! - so glad that you had a good vacation! Was it just you and DH? Is Star due back today, too? Jewel - see you've got your ticker! Had a good day yesterday food wise, and dropped another two pounds of water weight - YOOHOO - finally my feet are not as swollen -- and I'm only 5 pounds over my the weight I was when I went on hold in May. Today I'm going to try to get my gear together for Friday - put outfits together, etc. .. And try to get some travel info from AAA. :dizzy: Hugs! Julie I will definately be up for a challenge in August  videochick 07-11-2005, 10:33 AM Hi, Chicks - Hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been on-line for a couple of weeks so I'll have to catch up. Managed to maintain at 160-163 through two weeks of birthdays, July4, and work schedule. Hoping to be more diligent and OP the next three months as I am sticking to my resolve to get to goal and not buy more weightloss weeks. Julie - Glad you got back before 7/7. Michelle/Henrygirls - Glad you and yours are okay too. My aunt and uncle live in Hainault right outside London and even though they nor my cousins work in the City, they do travel in often for business, to shop, etc. I'm off today, so will have the luxury of WI during the day, and not rushing in at 6:55p.m. after work! Hope to chat more later Melissa the videochick Star 07-11-2005, 10:46 AM :coffee:  Hey Chicks - Vacation went by way too fast.......so here I am back to the grind... Utah is so beautiful it's not fair to visit there and then have to go home ;) My SIL lives on a mountain and shares the mountain with deers, doe's and moose. They actually come up to her house and could be looking in your bedroom when you wake up  We went to Sundance (Robert Redford's mountain) on what use to be my birthday. That was a blast! My son ordered one of every dessert on the menu :o Thank goodness only two were chocolate (and we all 7 of us shared). As far as getting exercise while there, we did hike the mountain trails. If you consider marthon shopping exercise - we did plenty of that  Now to the eating - well I tried to be aware of what went in my mouth. I will see how I did when I have to go to COD  at lunch today and will share that later. So I haven't gone back and read any posts from when I left. I have alot of work to catch up on. I think I'll just start back here and meet the new chicks as they post - BUT WELCOME ofcourse :hat: Hugs to all - it's good to be back in the coupe...... ;) MetalChic 07-11-2005, 11:10 AM  Welcome Back Star! :grouphug: Happy "used to be" Birthday! :hb: :hat: :gift: :balloons: :woo: We missed you! It was awful quite around here with you and Sy gone.... When you get caught up, you will have to share more. :gossip: :blah: Star 07-11-2005, 11:29 AM Karen - :thanks: You know how I love a party  For my "used to be birthday" I got money and I bought several new exercise outfits in Utah. I will be the best dressed chick at the Weight Station Gym for sure. I will post more later, after COD  And Karen, YOU throw an awesome party...... :grouphug: textjewel 07-11-2005, 12:16 PM Star - wow, you got money and it wasn't even your birthday! (anymore . ..) Did the GDB's get spoiled? I would love to see Sundance - what is there to do there? besides eat? Is it close to Park City? Melissa - it seems that you've got maintainence down - how much more do you want to drop? Doesn't it sometimes seem that it's hard to keep the motivation up when you're getting close to the end? Julie debi d 07-11-2005, 12:31 PM ;) good mornin chickies, Back in from a nice long weekend.. not down much but still going the right direction  I will take ever ounce. Ruby, what a great story.. Glad he finally got the nerve to ask for your number. Welcome to all the newbies,, this is a great place for support and encouragement. debi vibrantecho 07-11-2005, 12:42 PM Hey chickies! Finally dug my scale out of its box...haven't weighed or even been overly concerned with my eating habits for almost two weeks...was at 207.8 this morning. Not great, but I was expecting worse. I was feeling just awful yesterday afternoon, lightheaded like I hadn't eaten all day (which wasn't the case), finally figured out I was dehydrated! I was pretty good about getting the water in all last week, then drank next to nothing all day Sunday. It was a good reminder about how important water is, not only for weight loss but for plain old health during these steamy summer days. Don't skip your H20 cocktails!!! Fiona Star 07-11-2005, 01:25 PM Julie - Sundance is about 30 minutes or so from Park City. The snow was melting off the top of the mountain and the creek right next to the road was really rushing - so pretty. Anyhow, We went on the 5th and did the gift shops, took pictures, ate and just had a great five hours or so......DSIL has a housefull every year for the actual Sundance Film Festival, mostly family and friends stalking stars...lol Fiona - In Utah, you have to drink even more water. I noticed my skin aging by the hour - I was frantic. DSIL gave me some miracle eye cream from Scotland to help with that. Also I got a Salt Body Glow Massage from Bruce, who told me becuz of the altitude he drinks water 24/7 (he was such a sweetie). BTW - I love your new avatar... textjewel 07-11-2005, 02:17 PM No surprise, but the second thing my friend did in Dubai (after giving me a great big hug) was to hand me a bottle of water - and say - This is your best friend here. Do not go anywhere without water. And it's true - I 'glowed' buckets there . . debi d 07-11-2005, 02:26 PM question. using the luna's.. how do they figure into the protein/starch/fat formula? I see that people list them by themselves, not including them in the proteins or starches.. I'm just adding them to my diet and would like some advice Thank you debi textjewel 07-11-2005, 02:28 PM Debi - they replace lites, so they don't subtract from the daily food portions. Are you following the program with or without lites? debi d 07-11-2005, 02:33 PM I was on the red without lites, but I may be on the wrong plan. I understand that red is for someone who weighs about 15 lbs more than me and exercises more than 5 hours a week. (I used to, but am down to 3 hours a week and don't see that changing now). I thought purple, with lites or gold with lites. I'm 38, 167lbs no health issues, sedentary work and 5'4". So to answer your real question, I'm in plan transition :-). I've lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks. It's a loss, but I was thinking I may be taking in too many calories on red. textjewel 07-11-2005, 02:40 PM Debi - you're right - normally you'd be on gold with lites, or purple with no lites - You may want to switch down if the pounds aren't dropping. Your goal is the same as mine - I'm 5'4" and I want to be 145 - I'm supposed to switch down to Gold once I hit the low 180's. There isn't much difference between gold and purple, just the protein sizes are smaller, I think. I guess you need to decide if you want to add the lites? (Although, theoretically, you could decide on a daily basis and switch between gold and purple, depending if you want the lites or not - although that would make it a little complicated . .Not that I'm trying to put ideas into anyone's head!) debi d 07-11-2005, 02:45 PM Man chickie, you are a lifesaver.. So my understanding of the gold is 2 6oz proteins, 3-1 cup raw veggies, 3 fruit, 2 starches, 1 dairy, 1fat, 2lites. I will do purple if I'm out of the lunas, but man, they are so good, I wouldn't wanna skip em.. it's almost like not watching what I eat when I have one. I look over my shoulder for the fat police to come snag it from my chubby fingers. textjewel 07-11-2005, 02:58 PM Debi - I agree with you about the luna's/lites! Have to be honest, I really, really, like the cookie dough lites - but there are some days I'd rather have real food -- I don't have the gold plan, so I can't help you with the portions - I'd say drop everything down by two ounces? And eggs from 3 to 2? So, yes, chicken goes from 8 to 6, and I imagine beef goes from 6 to 4? About the veg - those are the one things I don't worry about. I probably have at least 6 servings of veg a day. But sometimes I only have 1-2 fruits. debi d 07-11-2005, 03:05 PM  thank you, thank you, thank you... debi debi d 07-11-2005, 03:09 PM The lemon zest, cherry cov chocolate and the nutz over chocolate luna bars are soooooooooooo yummmmmmmy. All those bars I tried in the past tasted like styrofoam, I was not anxious to go with lites because of this, but I'm glad I ventured out.. textjewel 07-11-2005, 03:17 PM I've never met a luna I didn't like - some are sweeter than others, so I pick those for the end of the day - I like the lemon zest for breakfast! (And I also like the honey nougat lites for breakfast, and truthfully, the fruit and oat ones aren't too bad, but not my favorite.) henrygirls 07-11-2005, 03:36 PM Debi - send me an email and I will email you the LAWL plans that I got off ebay. I have actually been a member of LAWL; but wanted to see what the ebay plans looked like... they seem the same. Having a good day - still OP! Michelle whenry5804@aol.com Star 07-11-2005, 04:09 PM Just got back from COD  The good news is I lost 1.6 pounds while on vacation..... :) Now that works for me......With that said, I think it has something to do with drinking alot of water and eating my 2 LA Lites while there. ;) I'm ready to hit the plan hard again now...... textjewel 07-11-2005, 04:37 PM Star - you are my inspiration - I want to come back from my trip and be down 1.6 pounds. . . Star 07-11-2005, 05:18 PM Julie - You are such a free spirit....you go girl! We did go horseback riding in Utah - that was really awesome. My horse was named Tex, big white slow horse that loved to eat (like rider?). Back in the day I know he looked just like Trigger. Well have fun, logon when you feel the need and take notes for us. Hugs.... textjewel 07-11-2005, 05:38 PM Star - now I know the key to not gaining weight - lots of water, and bring my lunas/lites! Star 07-11-2005, 05:54 PM Julie - I don't know what the key is - I thought it was a miracle. But drinking the water and eating two chocolate bars a day was no problem for me......lol You know girlfriend, before we die we are bound to figure this out..... Leaving to take GB to the doctor - talk to you chicks tomorrow. Hugs.. SyracuseNY 07-11-2005, 05:59 PM Julie, it was just me and DH in the cottage from Sat to Wed. I just got my PM message from you the otherday - I should check it more often - thanks for the birthday wish. I just found a a group on the 6WBMO from WIsconsin and within miles have new friends. So I'm hoping to get going again. I've been living lean wish isn't too bad but want to move on and get the next twenty pounds off. I've only gained about three pounds back so I'm happy about that. But of course three pounds feels like twenty - right? Well I just wanted to pop in this morning and say hello - HELLO STAR! miss you gals. I have to get to work early today. Hugs my friends - I think of you often. ;) Beverley textjewel 07-12-2005, 09:39 AM Good morning, chickies! HI BEVERLY!!! I was just wondering how you were doing! I miss your stories about your DGD. And the bears! Scale still on 195 this morning - which is okay - at least not going up! Sy, was the place you stayed on the ocean? What did you get to do or see there? Hope everyone has a good POP day! Julie Star 07-12-2005, 10:16 AM Hi Chicks..... Bev - Girlfriend - I have missed you so much.....hug DGB for me. Don't be a stranger, post once in awhile, pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Hi to everyone else too... Rusty - Where are you today????? Mitchypoo 07-12-2005, 11:25 AM Hi all  I finally bit the bullet and went to WI. I haven't been since i went to CA. I've been struggling so much and wasn't sure what to do or how to get back OP, but i thought i should start with going in and being accountable and WI. I asked for my favorite counselor and she was so great. So i was up, but still lower than my starting weight and we talked about attainable, small goals, so this week it is to WI 1-2 more times, lose at least 1 lb. and also i've started walking, so go on W and F for atleast 20 minutes. I'm also doing Take Off today and tomorrow, i think that'll start me off right again. Later today i'm going for a physical so i'll talk to the dr. too about anxiety and depression. Lots of things going on... Star 07-12-2005, 11:30 AM Michele, It sounds like a great start to me - way to go Miss Queenbee! buttonsinabox 07-12-2005, 11:33 AM I need a little advice.. I know we can go up and down with our weight but... I was finally losing good when they changed me to red. Then I gained about 4 lbs and it was still going up so , they suggested I do TO and I lost 5.6 and they put me back on gold, they also told me to drop the bars and do the drink only now Im headed back up again and ive been POP... What would you guys do?? maybe I should do TO all the time.. lol this is pissing me off I finally saw 190 getting close and now its getting farther and farther away... Thanks textjewel 07-12-2005, 11:45 AM Beth - really surprised they put you on gold while you are above 185 -- are you working out? if so, I don't think gold is enuf food for you. esp without bars! Michelle, good for you for going to a professional - you've had a lot of changes in your life, being away from home, etc. ..Taking the first step to go back to the center is great! And having a plan of attack for the week is also good. Star 07-12-2005, 11:53 AM Beth - You could be working out too much. They say to workout less than 5 hours a week. Also I think you lift weights? Well that can add pounds, but it is muscle weight. Still COD doesn't care what causes the scale to go up - to them it's not good. Geez, I don't think I could do the Gold plan without the Lites...... WAgal 07-12-2005, 12:02 PM Good morning everyone!! I'm back!! Got back last after being gone for 1 week to attend a family wedding. I was able to be POP on some days and then others were pretty bad. But I got on the scale this AM and gained 2 pounds back. I am hoping to get them off by tomorrow as I plan to get back on POP and back to exercising and drinking my water, all things I haven't been able to do while being gone!! That should be it for the summer traveling, I hope. Just hate being out of my element as I feel I lose control. I thought I would be okay at my mom's, but they don't use lite or fat free anything!!! Ouch!!! I packed a cooler for when I was on the road, which was great, but I didn't pack meal stuff for the reat of the trip. That would have been hard to do. I go WI tomorrow, so should be interesting. Whats going on with Ruby and coffee boy? How was Star's trip? What all did I miss? Star 07-12-2005, 12:07 PM Hey Cindy, Two pounds ain't bad at all and it will come off pretty fast with your already being POP. My trip was awesome - Utah is beautiful - makes Michigan look pretty flat.... Like you, I'm glad to be back here where being on plan is just easier...... Ruby hasn't posted since I've been back, so I'm in the dark about her and java boy too? RUBY - where are you? We need info........ buttonsinabox 07-12-2005, 12:18 PM Julie, They put me on gold at the very start and I was at 217.. and I lost what i have on that plan.. Star, Im still doing the weights once a week 1 hour but they asked me to stop walking so much until they can figure it out.. im thinking they screwed me up by switching me.. Have any of you switched like that and gained and if so did you just wait it out and start dropping again or what did you have to do?? I sit at the computer all day most of the time.. like I said before maybe I should be on a TO off plan all the time...lol J/k Id have to kill someone after about 4 days...lol WAgal 07-12-2005, 12:21 PM Hi Star, I went back and got caught up on the posts. Congrats on losing while on your trip!!!! Know that the biggest part of my problem was not drinking water. I used to live in Salt Lake! Only for about 9 months while my Dad was on a job there. It was a beautiful place, for sure. Sounds like Ruby gave CG her phone number as he asked for it!!! Wonder now if he has called her? Oh, to be young again... Mom_of_3_Monsters 07-12-2005, 12:35 PM HI gang ... I am new here and I just wanted to pop in and say hello !! Congrats to all those who have lost !!! :) Star 07-12-2005, 12:41 PM Hi "Mom to 3 Monsters" gotta love the honestly there.....lol These are my grandbabies :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: Welcome to our coupe! textjewel 07-12-2005, 12:42 PM Beth, I've been on purple since I started. I don't think they usually move exercisers to a higher plan until they've stopped losing. This happened to Jen, I think :?: But don't understand why they started you on gold at 217??? Very Strange! How much are you walking? Cardio seems to be what is recommended as the prime fat burner, while weights are to build muscle, which helps burn more calories -- (Star can correct me on this) However, if you are exercising lots, and not eating enough, your body can go into survival mode, so it holds onto each calorie . . .Are you hungry a lot, get light headed? This would mean not enough calories. Cindy - WTG on only two pounds up on your trip! Mom_of_3 - Hi! Fiona - what's up with you? How's your DS? Star 07-12-2005, 12:52 PM Julie - What you said about muscle burning more calories is correct. Also to keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, possibly causing a gain on the scale, while looking better in your clothes. Which doesn't mean did-da-ly squat to the COD  counselors or scale.... :dunno: Mom_of_3_Monsters 07-12-2005, 12:56 PM Can I ask, What is the difference in the colors ? When I did the program, many moons ago, I was started on the gold plan and never switched to anything else I went from 187 down to 137 .... amd now that I started back on the program on my own, with the info that I have ... I am back on the gold plan ... and I have been wanting to ask, if anyone knows... I keep seeing commercials for LAWL and they keep saying "new plan" .... are there any big differences in the plan now than there was 4 years ago ?? Thanks for any help .... textjewel 07-12-2005, 01:06 PM Mom_of_3 - the biggest difference as of the past year is that there are no more limiteds, and a much greater selection of food choices. Some portion sizes have changed (pasta and rice went down to 1/3 c, beef is up a little -- at least in purple). If you're still in the 180 range, gold is probably good for you. I've seen that the TO juice has been reformulated, but haven't tried it. Star 07-12-2005, 01:08 PM Mto3 - Yes the plan has changed for the better. They have no more limited and portions are larger. They have also added some new on plan foods and extended the condiment selection. The Lites are more addictive than ever, matter of fact the only way to stop eating the chocolate ones is intervention with re-hab. My counselor told me that they took a survey of what the clients wanted and they fixed what they could. Hope this helps. Probably some other chicks will reply too..... MaureenM 07-12-2005, 01:09 PM Wow! I'm so glad I found this forum! I started LAWL March 2004...I have had many slow spots, including getting pregnant and miscarrying. :( But now I'm back on plan and really excitedto get under 200 pounds! My stat: Start: 366.6 Current: 228.6 Short Term Goal: 199.8 :dizzy: GOAL: 150-175 Mom_of_3_Monsters 07-12-2005, 01:13 PM Thanks for the responses ... I guess I need to keep an eye on ebay to see if I can find someone "sharing" the new plan ... :s: I get so defeated on the old plan ... so tired of the limited choices and just plain tired of dieting/watching in general ... but I am hanging tough this time and I am doing my best to stick it out ! textjewel 07-12-2005, 01:18 PM Mo3 - Yes, agree that the old plan WAS totally frustrating - it is much easier to follow now. The most important thing is to just have some sort of structure to the daily eating, at least for me! Hi Maureen, and welcome! You are doing great, chickie! Have to agree that one-derland is wonderful -- the water is fine, and there's plenty for you to join us. Star 07-12-2005, 01:20 PM Chicks - Just heard it thru the Grapevine - LA has a special right now on weight loss weeks of $5 per week....... Welcome Maureen - great to see such a loss, it gives us motivation! textjewel 07-12-2005, 01:23 PM Mo3 - ask away, and we'll try to help with the choices -- the only true limited now is the egg limit - 6 a week. Funny thing, chicks, in England, I had the choice of the full cooked English breakfast everyday - which includes eggs - haven't had one since I came back! MaureenM 07-12-2005, 01:23 PM Thanks for the welcome ladies! :) I am extremely lucky to work in radio...I do the LA WL radio testimonials/commercials where I live. So I get the program and lites for free. Good job everyone, I can't say enough about what LA WL has done for my life! Mom_of_3_Monsters 07-12-2005, 01:28 PM Thanks for the info Star ... but I just can't pull it off right now ... just don't have the extra funds ... :( :o So I am on my own ... that is why I am thnkful that I found this board ! CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss !! and welcome from another "newbie" ;) Star 07-12-2005, 01:30 PM maureen, We had another radio person on here once, but she was at odds with her LA Center becuz she worked out too much and wasn't losing as fast as her station wanted. I think they pulled her perks and she hasn't posted in a long time. That is a great job benifit! Our local radio celeb also did it afew years back and I think he lost about 50 pounds, which he has now gained back (he probably didn't do maintenance). Star 07-12-2005, 01:32 PM Mto3 - I'm sorry that $5 tidbit was not really directed at you. We just kinda share specials when we here about them, for our entire group..... Mom_of_3_Monsters 07-12-2005, 01:37 PM oops ... sorry ... ;) Star 07-12-2005, 01:41 PM  Mo3 - Bad timing on my part ;) MaureenM 07-12-2005, 01:47 PM maureen, We had another radio person on here once, but she was at odds with her LA Center becuz she worked out too much and wasn't losing as fast as her station wanted. That sucks he gained it all back, I refuse to do that! My LA WL Center has just always been real supportive even when I go through slumps. Star 07-12-2005, 01:53 PM Well, He was big before he did the promotion, then he lost and then he never mentioned it again. I'm sure he just decided it was too much work. Plus you know it's different with males, they can get away with extra pounds. vibrantecho 07-12-2005, 03:25 PM Hey gals! One of our radio guys lost 35 pounds on LAWL and he's on maintenance - he's got everybody on his show hooked on the LA bars, lol! Whenever I hear radio personalities doing "I love this (insert product)" commercials I wonder just whether they've actually even tried whatever it is, but at least with LAWL I know he really did it cause I've seen the pics. Fiona Mitchypoo 07-12-2005, 03:30 PM Fiona, are you talking about Ian Punnett? I've met him, he looks great. And now Paul Black and his wife are on it too. Take Off is working, i can tell cuz i've been peeing a lot! I've made it thru lunch and doing ok with it. Hoping the hunger will leave me alone tonight. I've eaten almost a whole English Cucumber today, gosh they are good. Got a really bad migraine this a.m. It kind of hit me when i got to work, just like within half an hour, i just felt awful. But i didn't mess around, i just took the medication and i'm happy to say it's gone now. Star 07-12-2005, 03:32 PM Hi Fiona - The local radio guy that did LA here is the top guy on "Mojo in the Morning" show. Also the guy that married me and DH, at a mass wedding at a Pistons BB game....... SyracuseNY 07-12-2005, 03:56 PM Fiona: I almost didn't reconize you or your posts! What's up with the new screen name? I'm sure you explained it someplace while I was away on vacation. I'll be posting more shortly, I'm just playing catch up at work and I'm working alone this week so it's busier than normal. I'm still trying to keep up and only have minutes to post. Welcome to all the newbies. Free LA Lites? I'm changing careers and moving into radio. LOL! Hugs to all, Sy kcreary 07-12-2005, 04:42 PM I WI'd in this morning...down 4.2 lbs since Thursday!! Woohoo!! (mind you I went to the zoo on Saturday and it was way too hot to eat...i only ate half a medium french fries like all day well..besides breakfast). The counsellor (had a new one) saw that I wasnt checking off the lites (even tho I've been eating the luna bars)...should I tell them im going to do luna bars instead because they are cheaper? Otherwise they will put me on another plan and this one has enough food already. I sometimes have a hard enough time getting everything in! Mitchypoo 07-12-2005, 04:43 PM Kate, i just put down Bar in my journal and my counselor at the beginning assumed i meant the LA Lites, i told her I got them off ebay. If you are eating them, Luna's too, i would say you are having the bars so they give you the right plan. Star 07-12-2005, 04:51 PM Kate - congrats on being down (and so much). I'm curious, did you write the french fries down in your diary, if so what did the counselor say about that? MaureenM 07-12-2005, 04:54 PM Welcome to all the newbies. Free LA Lites? I'm changing careers and moving into radio. LOL! I am truly blessed to have gotten this opportunity! I know I'd be pushing 400 pounds now if I never went to LAWL! I love the Luna Bars...especially the Smores kind. kcreary 07-12-2005, 04:55 PM yup i wrote it down...she didnt say anything about them. all she said was to make sure to get everything in as best i can next time. i maybe only ate like 15 fries...it was too hot and they were dry and gross lol Star 07-12-2005, 05:02 PM Kate - At my COD  if I would write down french fries as my staple for the day they would have a hissy fit.....They would hand me the Menu Plan Kit and ask me to show them where french fries was listed. That's when I tell them I was on the 'Rainbow Plan' that day.....and trust me, I have had my share of 'Rainbow Plan' days... Maureen, I'm with you, if it weren't for LAWL I would be at my all time high...and that's good enuf reason to never quit. marbear 07-12-2005, 05:20 PM hey all! My name is Mary. I'm a 25 y/o SAHM living in Texas right now. I started L.A. a month ago (my brother in law is actually the one ON the plan, but his counselors were nice enough to give info for us free of charge...can you believe?). Anyway, my start weight was 206. Right now I am at 196 and looking to get down to 160. My initial goal was 180, but seeing how easy the plan is gave me a little more hope. How long do you think this will take? I am losing 2-3 lbs a week (my loss slowed down during a 10 day trip to visit family...I never lose weight on the road)...I just don't know when the plateaus usually start in. I am hoping to be thin by the time we go home for Thanksgiving...my husband's ex (who begged my husband not to marry me and has tried to cause problems in my marriage unsuccessfully) is dating my husband's brother seriously and I think living well and looking cute would be my best revenge. Also, I am wanting to be a healthy example for my son (Eli, 17 mos) and am hoping to be healthy enough to get pregnant without worries in the near future. Glad I found y'all! Mary Mom_of_3_Monsters 07-12-2005, 05:33 PM Welcome Mary !!! Star 07-12-2005, 05:34 PM Mary - Welcome to our coupe. If you are losing 2-3 pounds a week that is above average. Everyone is different and depending on your age and weight, your weightloss will slow down at different times. If you want to continue at the 2-3 lb per week loss I suggest you get in 4-5 hours of cardio a week. Just a thought... Stress is a huge factor in weight gain, with your current family situation (husband's X dating brother-in-law) your plate is full. Weightloss is a very healthy step, but I don't think it will make the world perfect. Have you considered having BIL relocate and taking the X with? I hear Alaska is nice this time of year.....lol rubyshoes 07-12-2005, 05:42 PM HELLLLLOOOOOO Chickies!! I have not disappeared off the face of the earth, as it would have seemed. Y'all aren't lucky enough to get rid of me like so :D First off, Star, welcome back girl, missed having you around. Now I have to do without Britt on yahoo. Whatever shall I do with my band of traveling chickies?? Congrats too all who are down, wtg! To those that are maintaining or a little bit up, you know you can do it, because we all believe in you as much as you need to believe in yourselves! And a big wave hello to all the newbies!!! Welcome to the best forum on the web for support in our individual and group journeys!! The past several days have been insane, but I will try to keep the updates at less than novel status, which we all know I am incapable of, but I do have a rather large favor to ask of all of you! First, lets get the business out of the way.... This part of the post is going to seem anticlimactic considering its short nature, but I assure you, I am super happy. I went in on saturday for my WI, and hit an all-time low of 193.6 - which brings my current weight loss total to 73.10. Need to adjust my tickers :D Second order of business is that the piece that I slaved so hard over that night in Starbucks has indeed been picked up by The Noyse online publication, and was posted last night in their editorial section updates!!! It was a long and very difficult process, because I wasn't even sure of the revisions :soap: So now we come to the 'favor' portion of my post. The more readers I pull in, the more likely the chance is that I will be asked to contribute future pieces, which could lead to a column spot. If any of you have the time, do you think it would be possible for you to stop by and give it a look? I really appreciate anyone's time! Step 1: Go to The Noyse (http://www.thenoyse.com) Step 2: I am in the editorials section, my piece is entitled "Let's Talk About Sex" Step 3: If so inclined, leave the editor feedback about the piece in the 'contact us' section. Step 4: Have a glorious day because you did something super nice for me :dizzy: **************** And now it's time for the General Starbucks hour update, which is actually less than stellar today. Last we left off, CG had rather smoothly asked me for my number, which I managed to give to him without making a complete fool of myself. So you may be asking yourself, how many late night conversations have these two had? How many times have they gone out to enjoy each others company? Are things working out harmoniously, or did the situation fall flat once they got to know each other better? Well unfortunately, there are no answers to these questions, because the man of the hour has not bothered to pick up the damn phone! What is up with that? On Thursday I was able to see him briefly, as my daily SB visit required a drive by. He acted as normal as ever, and flirted briefly with me, but then got a few dirty looks by coworkers because they had a mini rush. But seriously, what is wrong with these people that they can't handle a 5 minute rush at SB's in order to improve my love life? *insert mumbled comments beneath breath about lazy witches raining on my parade* So I leave. Friday comes along and I hit my favorite afternoon oasis, secretely hoping my favorite barista will be in. He is. He puts me to task for how late it is, then gets started on my tea. He casually asks what my plans are. I told him that although I had made plans with some friends to hit a local bar, that since I had gotten off work so late that I planned to skip out, grab a few beers and play couch-commando DVD zombie. He laughed, and then tossed out that he would hang out with me, depending of course on what my viewing schedule was to be. WAIT....what? Did my ears decieve me? Was he being funny, or casually asking me on a date. What to do, what to do.....don't panic. breathe. think. breathe again. SPEAK! ME: Sure, but I haven't decided yet what I am going to toss in. I was thinking about Garden State. CG: A chick flick? I am not sure I am up for a chick flick tonight. ME: Chick flick? That movie is about the fact that no matter what view you take that everyone has family issues, this guy just happens to be coping with weaning himself off heavy anxiety drugs while dealing with his. CG: Really? maybe I will have to take a look sometime. Then a customer comes up to the counter before I can toss out another title, which to be honest doesn't matter because at this stage I have completely forgotten every DVD title in my library because I am an idiot. So as I leave, as a last attempt I toss out that if he feels like hanging when he gets off work to give me a hollar. Alas, no phone call. Why on earth didn't I through out some macho war flick? Men can be so fickle in their movie options! Flash forward to sunday, still sans phone call. Wondering why he even asked for the number at all, if he doesn't plan on using it. But I decide that either way, it won't be keeping me away from my ME time, and head off to get my daily dose. Dose of what still undefinable. I did not wear a funny tshirt, and at this point I am not sure if it was to spite him, or really because I just wanted a super soft tee. Probably a bit of both. CG: There is nothing remotely funny about that tshirt. ME: You know, I don't purchase my tshirts based solely on their comedic value. Sometimes I just pick them up because they are comfy. So he reaches up and grabs my sleeve and proceeds to basically cause me to have a brain annurism. CG: Oooohh....that is soft. But it would look better on my floor. He gives a chuckle at what must be a completely dumbfounded look, which isn't truly a vacation from the normal expression on my face, but simply accompanied by the color of a stop sign blazing across my cheeks. I know that on some level, he is waiting for me to flirt back, but I have once again stumbled across the deer-in-headlights-syndrome, and can't seem to operate my tongue, as he goes off to help another customer. Sunday was the last time our paths crossed, but when I went in last night, one of the other girls said to me that she would have to make sure to report to CG that my shirt wasn't funny, so that he didn't feel as if he was missing anything. So now I am armed with the information that other SB employees are watching to see what transpires, which puts on even more pressure. Not the least of which is my own neuorsis, still questioning why he asked for that number if he isn't going to use it. Unfortunately for today, the only update I have is that there really is no update on the situation, save for the fact that I am more yellow now that he has asked for the number, than I was before. BAH! I need a drink, and this concludes your Genderal Starbucks hour. Check back next time, where I might have actually grown a spine. vibrantecho 07-12-2005, 05:54 PM Ruby, chickie, if your editorial is half as good as General Starbucks Hour, they'll be banging down your door to have you write for them full time. :write: I'm LOL at work!! :lol3: Fiona P.S. Of course I'm going to go read your piece RIGHT NOW!!! :D Star 07-12-2005, 05:56 PM Ruby = HI chick - thanks for the welcome back..... I have to leave right now but tomorrow I will read your piece and re-read your post about java boy.....you are a riot!
