Good Monday Morning Everyone!

WOW! Finally, I was able to get on the board and get this weeks boards started. No one advised us about this upgrade in advance which is unusual, not to mentioned not too nice. Seems there are quite a few new things with the board, just haven't had the time to figure them all out as of yet!

Got in a short walk today, wasn't in the mood, so just did about 2.5 miles

This just wasn't my weekend, more like the weekend from hell! With everything that's transpired over the last few days, I had Lauren clog up her toilet, which caused water to spill into the hallway, (the same carped I just cleaned from my nieces spewing accident). Then trouble with the board!

Oh, the worst trouble of all, the scale is up again! I've come to the conclusion that this MUST be stress related-there is no way in the world I can be up 6lbs from my lowest weight, just no way! I was so good yesterday and stayed right OP and even walked. I truly believe it has to be from all the stress I've had-anyone care to throw out their ideas at me? Besides that, my stomach has been acting up and Eli is ready to put me out the door! I'm surprised the HAZMAT TEAM hasn't come to our house to see what that awful smell is coming from our home!!!

TODAY IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY! Here's my contribution:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

COMFORTABLE DOUBTS

Have your doubts become too comfortable? It's easier to doubt than it is to do. When you doubt that you can accomplish something, the doubt gives you a nice, comfortable place to hide, a reason for not making the effort.

Yet if you keep piling up one doubt on top of another, soon there's no room left for your dreams, your goals, your ambitions. When you seek refuge in the comfort of your doubts, you close yourself off from all the positive possibilities in your life. After a while even the comfort fades, as regret sets in -- regret for opportunities missed that will never come again.

If you fail to prove your doubts wrong, they will eventually prove themselves right. Don't allow that to happen. Get up, get going and make those doubts look foolish. As soon as you start to take action, the doubts begin to fade. The longer you remain committed to your goals, the weaker your doubts become.

Rather than seeking comfort in your doubts, build confidence in your actions.

-- Ralph Marston

I guess I will end this part of my post for now and go back to the weekends postings so I can go ahead and reply to you all. I'll continue this a bit later!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Happy Monday Morning :)

Hope everyone has a great new day and a great new start to their week.

Here is my motivational thought for the week:

___________________________________

Remember, it's not the problem that's the problem.
It's your attitude about the problem, now that's the problem!

____________________________________

Debbie: Your weight fluctuation can be alot of things and is probably the stress. Put the scale away! Eat OP! and then in maybe a week pull the scale out again. Right now you need to focus on eating right and healthy and feeling good. All of us who have struggled to get to goal have done the same thing...for some reason you get close and then your body says "nope" not right now and it goes up. Just hang in there and it will happen.

To Everyone Else: I will be gone for a couple of days but want you to know I am pulling for you. Rememeber "be happy" :smug:

My contribution:

I fight a battle every day
Against discouragement and fear.
Some foe stands always in my way
The path ahead is never clear.

I must forever be on guard
Against the doubts that skulk along.
I get ahead by fighting hard.
But fighting keeps my spirit strong.

I hear the croakings of despair,
The dark predictions of the weak.
I find myself pursued by care,
No matter what the ends I seek.

My victories are small and few.
It matters not how hard I strive.
Each day the fight begins anew.
But fighting keeps my hopes alive.

My dreams are spoiled by circumstance.
My plans are wrecked by fate or luck.
Some hour, perhaps will bring my chance.
But that great hour has never struck.

My progress has been slow and hard.
I've had to climb and crawl and swim.
Fighting for every stubborn yard.
But I have kept in fighting trim.

I have to fight my doubts away
And be on guard against my fears.
The feeble croaking of dismay
Has been familiar through the years.

My dearest plans keep going wrong.
Events combine to thwart my will.
But fighting keeps my spirit strong
And I am undefeated still!"

Here's my continuation of my post for this morning:

Spoke to Narda (BOB) on the phone last night, she's back from her trip and pooped. She'll be on the board later tonight. WELCOME HOME BOB!!!!!

GATOR, the % of carbs you should have should be about 40%. The info is on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD. If you go less than 30% on your fats, you could up your carbs a little if you want. The breakfast sounds yummy, but I'd limit the fruits you top it with to just berries.

ICESKATE, thanks for letting me know that was an original quote-that should be posted on one of those websites that has great quotes! Again, thanks for sharing it with us!!!

QUILTER, so how did the hair-do's come out for you and Paul? Have you ever tried an ASIAN PEAR-they are delicious! I tried my first PASSION FRUIT the other day, quite interesting, but not much there. Not quite sure if it's SB legal or not, but they are so small. I love trying new and exotic fruits and veggies-I don't venture too much in trying funky meats though.:^: The pan I use to make the sponge cake has a tube in the middle. I guess a bundt cake pan works the same-remember, I can't cook all that well, and these technical questions are way above my head!

SNOOKS, are you keeping a journal of what you eat. We'd be happy to look at a typical days menu if you want to post it on the board. If so, try to put amounts if you are able, it helps. If you are eating too much, or even too little, this could hamper your ability to lose. Whatever it is, I'm sure we can help remedy the problem:) How much cheese would you say you are eating on a typical day?

CHERI, CONGRATS!! Down again, WOO HOO! Keep up the great work, I'm rooting for you!!! Thanks for those nice words:^: You all make this board so great!! So, being that you are a b.day girl next week, any big plans???

NANCE, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! What a nice note I received from you on Saturday-just what I needed to lift my spirits-you are such an angel! Such a small gesture really meant a lot to me! I hope you and Dan can find the home of your dreams (one that you can afford). Hope to see you online later:)

SPARKLE, what you said is true, we have to look at the bigger picture of what we've accomplished over this past year. Even though the scale may not say what we want it to at this time, we have to look at all the other aspects of following this WOE. You too have a b.day coming up-what are your plans. What's the latest with this guy you've been seeing?

BEACH, you ALWAYS know just what to say!!! Your words always have a special meaning to me and you don't know how much I appreciate your posts as well as your e-mails! Whereas others look up to me, I look up to you, which is nice. I want to be where you are and having you remind me that you are there makes it much easier during rough times-thanks again! I think after WIW I may try to put the scale away for a few days-though I am afraid I may have major withdrawls!!

AMSER, I hope things are better with your GM, and with you as well. Trust me, I know how stressful you are feeling right now and how it effects ones' eating. I really hope you that we can try to meet when you come down to the Keys-somehow, someway, we have to make a plan!!!

RHROO, hey, the scale is being good to you I see, which means you are being good to yourself!! CONGRATS!!

FROG, did you have any doubts that we love you on this board! If you did, you sure shouldn't have those doubts any more!!! BTW, I loved the pictures, your parents look pretty cool-your Dad looks like he could be a biker!

CATLOVER, thanks for that motivational poem-it's message can be taken in many ways, I think.

Okay, I'm outta here-going to go make something for breakfast. Again, I hope you all have a wonderful day, and a great week!

I'll check in with you all later.

Hi Gals!
All the newstuff on the site looks so high-tech! I haven't read the details yet.

Haven't lost or gained over the weekend which is o.k. Did pretty good mentally getting on track. Hit a little pot-hole in the road but things are better now.

Found a dream home with the mrtage payment from hell. I guess I'm just going to have to be happy with Casa Nancemeister.

My computer has gone down in the family room. I'm only doing a short post until I can get to work, because this one usually doesn't work.

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm alive and kickin'!

Happy June and Happy Monday -

Can't believe it's June already. DS has school until Fri. and then he's done. If summer ever comes, I'll be happy. It has been so wet and cool here. All my plants are waterlogged and not growing. Sorry if this description pains the Florida posters--I'd gladly send it your way if I could!!!

The funeral was truly beautiful--a real celebration of a long life and many descendants. I don't think I've ever seen so many flowers and plants in a place other than a florist shop! I hope I can keep the plants going that we brought home. A group of our friends sent perenials that we will plant by our house and a neighbor gave us a gift certificate for something to plant in Dad/Grandpa's memory. It sure lifts you up to know you have such friends. And thank you all for your condolences and kind words. Even though we haven't met, you ALL have a special place in my heart.

l'm sure glad the board is back up. Since I'm so behind in reading and this is another busy week (who's isn't?), I'll just start fresh today. I was actually OP all weekend, even though I didn't have a lot of control over the food that was available. Seems like I'm pretty committed to this, still. This will be a new start on the TM or walking outside, too. I've really been bad on the exercise, other than running around like a chicken with its head cut off!!

Deb - thanks again for all that you do for the board. I know you are the main reason I'm here and sticking to this. I've just started reading a book called Fight Fat after 40 and the author truly believes that much of the weight problems for women are caused by toxic stress and hormones. Have you read this one yet? I've just started, so I don't have an impression yet. I do agree with some points I've read, though. So maybe the stress is wreaking more havoc with your system than you thought possible. Since you don't cheat, this will pass and the scales will come down! A while ago there was a book going around about the Set Point Diet. Do you remember that? It had something to do about your body reaching a weight where it had been at for a period of time and just staying there, despite every effort to move the scale. That's about all I remember about it (and maybe that memory is incorrect). Have you ever been at this weight for a long period of time? Just a thought.

Have a great Monday everyone, and I'll try to respond to posts better this week and share the support you have all given to me!

Karen

Debelli I agree with Beach. Just put the scale away. Don't let it become your master. Start preparing for your "new life" by just living the SB WOE without having the scale there every minute. Remember, you don't get your approval or disapproval from it!
In fact, it would be a great lesson for all of us if you could chronicle each day for us on what it is like to live w/o it. Let us know what you eat and how you are feeling. Then, 2 weeks from now, get back on it for a day, and see what it says. Trust YOURSELF, and not the scale.
BTW, maybe you could also post what you eat for the next day or so, and we could 1. Let it inspire us, or 2. Check to see if you are eating enough or too much. Maybe we could be helpful to you in that way.

:D

Well, it looks like this new upgrade of the board might be fun.
All kinds of fun things to play with!
:dizzy:
Wow! This could get addictive.
Well, better get off and do the things I have to do. Have a great day, y'all.

Good Morning, My Fair Ladies!!

Had a nice week-end and got to see some old friends - and our favorite babies (6 mo. old twin boys). Vince and I had the privilege of being there when they were born and are especially close to them. Enjoyed a nice hard rain last night. We're finally starting to catch up on the rain here in Florida and it is sooo nice.

I only got to breeze throught the posts from this past week-end, but saw someone posted about using fresh herbs.
I LOVE my fresh basil, cilantro and oregano! We make a mean omelette using fresh basil, bell pepper and tomatoes. Awesome Pico deGallo using fresh onion, lemon juice, tomatoes, jalapenos and cilantro. Oregano and basil go in every Italian dish we cook. Cooking Light magazine has some great recipes that replace fat with flavor using all kinds of herbs and plants. Anyway that was a great post!

I tried on a dress this week-end that I hadn't been previously able to get my butt-ocks into. It's a little tight, but I can not only get it over my hips, but I can zip it!! ;) Maybe by the time we leave to go to my 15 year high school reunion next month I'll be able to actually wear it. Gotta look good for those reunions, ya know!

MELF - I hope the rain didn't damper any plans you had this week-end on vacation! Looking forward to catching up with you this week!

DEBBIE - I'm glad they recognize the quality and strength that you have in your life to put your story in the book! Hooo Haw! Can't wait to see our fearless leader recognized for her awesomeness! And how's your dad? Getting better by the minute, I hope!

Today is my first work-out without having a personal trainer standing over me. I'm determined to work as hard for myself as I do for a personal trainer.

Not much time today, just wanted to check in. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning. Had alittle panic attack last night with out you all!!! Glad the board is up. The color thing looks neat.
This week end was o.k. I was still :spin: about being in the 130's -then i had the "i am cured" moment i always get when i go down on the scale! Silly head of mine. I am back on track the week end is behind me. Got up did my hour work out shooting for 6x this week so far the last two weeks i did it. Didn't get yesterday in which i like to but oh well!

Deb- shoot the scale!!!!!!! stay off of that thing for awhile is my advice. Or have a real good cheat with lots of fat in it! some thing needs to be budged. I could tell i lost when i put my pants on last Fri. I didn't even need that metal thing!

Quiter- :o you made me blush! Thanks for the nice post. I have really been struggling to get this fat off for awhile. Its always nice to get a good kick in the pants. Glad i have helped you too! My new motto since starting this was to just start over when you fall off the wagon. What is that gonna hurt?! LOL I guess what will be next after i get off the 2lbs or more who know on what given day! LOL I have to start to journal better because i won't really want to get much under 135 and i need to incorperate more calories i guess. The excersise is staying of course 5-6x a week. My altimate goal is to keep the weight off forever!!!! is that possible? I want it to be. Thats why i will still be hanging around here with you chicks!!!! Thanks for the heartfelt post!!!

Sol- Woooo hooooo on the dress!!!!! i know it will fit! my 20th is next year in November i really want to be this weight then!!! so i guess that could be a goal for me to keep this up!!! Hope u had fun at the gym!!!

Karen- Glad you made it through the week end. Its a hard thing, but i bet you grandad was up there watching it all!! You sound like your commited to this program and it does work that helps too!!!!

Well i am off to do house cleaning! UGGGG  to everyone else i missed which i know is alot of you. Woooo hoooo to all you teachers!!!!! my kids are loose on the 20th. I guess i can't wait till camp!!!

see ya Rhonda

Afternoon All!

Was surfing the net looking for things about STRESS & WEIGHT GAIN and came upon this article:

FIVE WAYS STRESS CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN

We all know that we tend to eat more or "binge" on food when we're stressed. Stress adversely affects our moods which in turn affects our behaviors. Because stress also drains our energy, we become less active or "too tired" to exercise. High sugar food, caffeine and the "couch" become our way of coping. Our good intentions of eating well and going to the gym go down the drain! It is simply too hard to carry on a balanced healthy lifestyle when we are under chronic stress. But stress also does some other things to us physiologically that can exacerbate the problem. They are stated below.

1.Stress Adds More Fat to the Midsection.
Stress causes increased cortisol levels (a stress hormone) that is produced from the adrenal gland. High levels of cortisol cause deposits of fat around our abdominal area. This is not only unattractive, it is dangerous putting stress on the heart and causing hypertension.

Fitness Management Mag., Aug.1999:Chronic Stress: A Potent Risk Factor.
Barbara A.Brehm Ed.D.

2. Stress Causes Blood Sugar to Rise, Supressing Natural Fat Burning Hormones.
Stress prepares us for "fight or flight" which was great when there were dinosaurs roaming around, however we rarely need this in our modern day society. The increased blood sugar causes insulin levels to rise. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to bring blood sugar down. When insulin is consistently high, with chronic stress, this suppresses the fat-burning hormone glucagon. Glucagon normally rises between meals to help burn body fat. This scenario also sets us up for food cravings and can set the stage for diabetes.

Potatoes Not Prozac by Kathleen Des Maisons,PhD. p.49-50

3. High Levels of the Stress Hormone Cortisol "Eats Up" Available Serotonin, Causing Depression, Anxiety and Hunger.
Serotonin helps us feel calm, happy and satisfied. It is also connected with the satiety center of the brain (it triggers in your head that you are full so you stop eating). If our seratonin level is low, our poor mood often results in binge eating. Depression will often result from chronically low seratonin. The latest information on depression drugs (SSRI drugs) is that they can result in weight gain over time. Also, if our satiety center in the brain is not working properly, we will overeat at meals.

Food and Mood by Elizabeth Somer M.A., R.D., p.163-64

4. High Levels of the Stress Hormone Cortisol Can Cause an Imbalance of Female Hormones, Increasing Fluid Retention and Body Fat.
Estrogen and progesterone need to be balanced for proper weight and fluid balance in a woman. The cortisol in our bodies tends to cause our bodies to produce more estrogen resulting in estrogen dominance. This causes fluid retention and extra fat deposits in the hips and thighs. Also, to exacerbate the problem, coritsol competes with progesterone receptor sites making it less effective. Progesterone helps to burn fat more efficiently and controls fluid retention.

Healing Mind, Healthy Woman by Alice Domar PhD., and Henry Dreher, p.13-15

5. Stress Can Affect The Thyroid in an Adverse Way, Causing Weight Gain.
High levels of cortisol cause the body to produce more estrogen (mentioned above). This can interfere with the T3 and T4 hormones of the thyroid. The high estrogen keeps these hormones (even if they are in adequate amounts) from hitting their target sites, therefore making them less effective in controlling overall weight.

Balancing Hormones Naturally by Kate Neal and Patrick Holford, p.29-31

NANCE, so is your computer int he FR dead, or just need repairs? I need a new computer, but with having over $1,000 in bills more this month that I didn't expect to have, that puts me about 5 year away from getting a new one-old Betsy better stay healthy!! Sorry I was away from the computer when you I/M'ed me:(

KAREN, I'm sure I can speak for all of us Floridians in saying we wish there was a way for you to send us the rain AND the cooler weather-I'm not greedy though, I'll take just the cooler weather alone! The funeral sounded beautiful, and I'm sure he was given a fitting tribute-just by having so many family members there must of shown how much he was loved and thought about. I'm sure those plants your brought home will flourish!! I haven't read the book you mentioned, but while skimming the net for the above post on STRESS, the book was mentioned on quite a few sites. I guess I'll have to try to find that one at the library. I never heard of the Set Point Diet though. The weight I am today, I was the same weight 3 months ago:eek: I was 1lb from goal a week or so ago, now I'm 7lbs away:(

GATOR, I am going to keep the scale out til WIW and then try to have someone hide it from me. I may go through withdrawls to the point of strangling someone to take it out, but I'll try to do my best. I am keeping track of my eating, so will post today's menu sometime tomorrow. I know I don't have any trouble with it though, just need more veggies and sometimes calcium, but all-in-all, I pretty much stay within my targets.

SOL, I too love to make salsa, so easy and soooo good! I have cilantro in the house, should go get some tomatoes and make some today-thanks for reminding me! Congrats on getting the dress on!!! Dad's doing fine, thanks for asking:) How did your workout go today??

RHROO, I can honestly say, if I cheat, I'll be in BIG trouble. I know I am the type that if I cheat, I keep going and going and there's no turning back. Can't do it, otherwise, I can guarantee, you won't be seeing much of me on this board-I'd be running the other way with my tail between my legs!!!

Okay, time to get in the shower. Have a board meeting at the school tonight and have a few things to do before I have to go get Lauren from school this afternoon.

I'll check in with you all later!!

Hello ladies! I only have a few minutes until I have to go to work, but wanted to take the time to say hello. I see that 3FC has upgraded to the full, latest version of VB. We have been playing with Beta 4 for quite some time now and I've enjoyed the new features. My favorite is that the "topic review" shows the latest posts even in a long thread. An upgrade is a lot of work for the administrators, so enjoy your new toys!

I am doing well and had a wonderful weekend. It's great to see all the motivation here!

Debbie, hang in there!

OHmigoodness, waytoo many optionsin this new version forme to deal with!

Listen gals, DEB gave me a good talking to about my falling off the wagon with this plan, so I am going to take all of her advice and get back 100%! I have been having real sugar issues and I don't know why.....but it has to stop. I don't even want to go near the scale until things get under control.

So, wanting to post to all of you today was fruitless as the server wasdown at work. Now I'm home but have about three seconds to post, eat my snack, get the kids changed and off to their respoective sports - so darn, can't get a good post going!

Deb also said to post my menus for the day for you all to critique - I have to lose th rest of this weight...here is the day so far....

1/2 grapefruit
1 slice ezekiel with lite swiss

10 small carob covered peanuts

1 apple
4 slices lean roast beef thin sliced

1/2 c plain yogurt with strawbs and bluebs

What's to come? Don't know? Any comments???

I gotta run, hopefully can post more tomoro....darn!

Getting ready to go to the Board Mtg. at school in a little bit and wanted to get in a "quickie" before I leave.

Here's what I've eaten so far today:

6oz blueberries
1/2 c egg beaters
1oz lf shredded cheese
1 sl SF WW bread
1Tbl lf cream cheese
1Tbl SF jelly
1 indivdual SF jello
3 1/2 ounces chicken breast
1sl SF WW bread
1Tbl lf mayo
1oz chopped onion
1c Lactaid Xtra Calcium milk
6.7oz raspberries
8oz steamed zucchini
1oz lf feta cheese
3.2oz apple

SO FAR, this amounts to 945 calories, 25 1/2 grams of fat, 112 grams of carbs, 76 grams of protein, 28 1/2 grams fiber and 965 milligrams of calcium.

If I stay at 1200 calories, my intended targets are 35 grams fat, 130 grams carbs, 92 grams of protein, 25 grams fiber (more is better on this though) and 1,000mg calcium

If I take it down a little to 1000 calories, my intended targets are 28 grams fat, 110 grams carbs, 75 grams of protein and the fiber and calcium stay the same. Basically, I'm just a little low on calories at this time if I want to keep it at 1000 calories.

So, any thoughts???

SPARKLE, glad to hear you had a nice weekend! BTW, I haven't seen that TOPIC REVIEW button, where is it?? (duh).

VIV, glad to see you back-make sure you post the rest of your menu for the day. Did what I e-mail you make any sense??

I'll try to check in later with you all, otherwise, tomorrow morning. Please remember, TOMORROW IS CHAT AT 9:15PM Hope you can all make it!!!

Here’s my motivational thoughts for today. I am using Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff and It’s All Small Stuff by Richard Carlson, Ph.D.

31. Become Aware of Your Moods and Don’t Allow Yourself to Be Fooled by the Low Ones.

Your own moods can be extremely deceptive. They can, and probably do, trick you into believing your life is far worse than it really is. When you’re in a good mood, life looks great. You have perspective, common sense, and wisdom. In good moods, things don’t feel so hard, problems seem less formidable and easier to solve. When you’re in a good mood, relationships seem to flow and communication is easy. If you are criticized, you take it in stride.

On the contrary, when you’re in a bad mood, life looks unbearably serious and difficult. You have very little perspective. You take things personally and often misinterpret those around you, as you impute malignant motives into their actions.

Here’s the catch: People don’t realize their moods are always on the run. They think instead that their lives have suddenly become worse in the past day, or even the last hour. So, someone who is in a good mood in the morning might love his wife, his job, and his car. He is probably optimistic about his future and feels grateful about this past. But by late afternoon, if his mood is bad, he claims he hates his job, thinks of his wife as a nuisance, thinks his car is a junker, and believes he’s going nowhere in his career. If you ask him about his childhood while he’s in a low mood, he’ll probably tell you that it was extremely difficult. He will probably blame his parents for his current plight.

Such quick and drastic contrasts may seem absurd, even funny--but we’re all like that. In low moods we lose our perspective and everything seems urgent. We completely forget that when we are in a good mood, everything seems so much better. We experience the identical circumstances--who we are married to, where we work, the car we drive, our potential, our childhood--entirely differently, depending on our mood! When we are low, rather than blaming our mood as would be appropriate, we instead tend to feel that our whole life is wrong. It’s almost as if we actually believe that our lives have fallen apart in the past hour or two.

The truth is, life is almost never as bad as it seems when you’re in a low mood. Rather than staying stuck in a bad temper, convinced you are seeing life realistically, you can learn to question your judgment. Remind yourself, “Of course I’m feeling defensive (or angry, frustrated, stressed, depressed); I’m in a bad mood. I always feel negative when I’m low.” When you’re in an ill mood, learn to pass it off as simply that: an unavoidable human condition that will pass with time, if you leave it alone. A low mood is not the time to analyze your life. To do so is emotional suicide. If you have a legitimate problem, it will still be there when your state of mind improves. The trick is to be grateful for our good moods and graceful in our low moods--not taking them too seriously. The next time you feel low, for whatever reason, remind yourself, “This too shall pass.” It will.
END OF QUOTE

Well, it was a lot longer than I thought. Sorry. But it really spoke to me especially because I tend to EAT LIKE CRAZY when I’m in a low mood. It really made me stop and think how I could handle it the next time my mood swings low and my appetite soars.

I just got home from work, but wanted to get this posted. Now it’s time to read and respond. I’ll be back.

My goodness! I had a feeling of panic when the board was down! How cold I get my daily dose of inspiration, laughter and common sense? So glad it is up and running.

My favorite inspiration piece is the Serenity Prayer, but this runs a close second and may not be as well known, so I am sending it out to all. I think it helps w/ any size crisis,

DON'T QUIT!

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
when the road you're trudging seems uphill;
when funds are low and debts are high and
you want to smile but have to sigh;
when care is pressing you down a bit,
rest, if you must,

Hi To All:wave:

Here is my contribution to Motivation Monday :

People don't change their behavior unless it makes a difference for them to do so.
--Fran Tarkenton

I thought this was so true for me this past year. I didn't change my eating behavior because it didn't seem important to me. Then I came back to this sight and I realized that I do want to eat healthy...so it now makes a difference.:dizzy: I hope this makes sense to someone.

Debbeli : I was reading in my WW book, "Breaking Through", ( for people who have hit a plateu), and some of the points mentioned are portion size, drinking more water, making sure you write everything down, and being positive about your progress so far. They also mention taking any medications-even dietary supplements. I also truly believe that stress all aspects of our well-being. I hope this board does not become too stressful for you. You are such an inspiration to the rest of us.
Oh, BTW, wasn't today the day your dad was going to have his procedure? I hope all went well.

Well, officially school is out :) (I'll try not to be too :smug: )
I am tutoring several students (starting tomorrow) for an hour and a half each day. It will keep me out of trouble ;) and I won't get so bored. I will have more time for this board and exercise, and cooking in, instead of eating out.

It's thundering outside... :( I'm glad... we need the rain, but our electricity tends to go out, so I better say, Bye for now.

I edited this twice...I love all the new "playthings", but I will sure miss "Spellcheck"!!! :(

SOMETHING HAPPENED....I DIDN'T DO IT! I'LL TRY AGAIN

DON'T QUIT

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
when the road you're trudging seems uphill;
when funds are low and debt is high and you
want to smile but you have to sigh;
when care is pressing you down a bit,
rest, if you must, but DON'T YOU QUIT!

Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
as everyone of us sometimes learns,
and many a failure turns about when you
might have won had you stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint of the cloud of doubt,
and you can never tell how close you are,
it may be near when it seems so far.

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit.
it's when things seem worst YOU MUST NOT QUIT!

I've tried to remember this recently when I gained a couple of pounds and they plateaued there. It would have been easy to say I failed so the heck with it. But I didn't quit, I stuck it out and the scale is down again!

So those of you that are in the same boat, remember this homily.

Take care everyone.

Hi Everyone :)

Just checking in to say hello to y'all. Everything is the same here. Still hovering around 200 pounds. I just hope I am able to maintain while I am away. I will endeavor to stay op as much as I can. I've been a little off plan the last couple of days, but it doesn't seem to make any difference whether I cheat a little or stay 100% op. I was down 2lbs two weeks ago for a couple of days then it went right back up to 200. I'm beginning to think I am not meant to lose any more! Maybe when I get back from my holiday I will get back to exercising more again. Since I started playing badminton I have neglected other exercises and I know the amount I play is not really sufficient as sometimes it is only once a week. I have to stop making excuses and get committed again.

I leave for my holiday tomorrow afternoon. Been busy to-day getting a few chores done and last minute shopping. Have half my packing done. Will do the rest in the a.m. I hope they have better weather in the U.K. than what we have been having here. The last few days have been more like winter, cold and dull. It's not raining to-day but we have had enough of it lately. SNOOKS - what's the weather like where you are?

Deb - I think that's a good idea to keep off the scales for a while. If you are keeping op (which I know you are) and exercising and feeling good thats just as, if not more important, than what the scale says. When your body is ready I am sure the other pounds will come off and you will reach goal. But even if you stay the same as you are just think how far you have come. Congrats on getting your story in the book. Hope we can all get to read it soon. You are truly an inspiration to us all. That was a good article you posted on STRESS AND WEIGHT GAIN. It's amazing how our thoughts and feelings can effect us physically. Even laughter has been proven to effect us physically by stimulating the immune system which increases our ability to fight disease.

I see we have some new playthings on the board. I'll have to play around with them when I get back from my vacation. I don't know if I will have access to a computer while I am away. Maybe I will check in to one of the Cyber Cafes once in a while. I can't imagine having no computer for two whole weeks. I'll be having withdrawal symptoms.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MARGARETA...........C HERI45...............FROGLOVER

HI BOB - Hope you had a good holiday. WELCOME BACK {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Rhroo - I am sure you can keep that weight off forever if you stay op and keep on exercising. If you have the mindset YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

Solshine - Way to go with the dress!!!!!!!! I am looking forward to a photo of you in the dress at the reunion.

Viv - I'm glad to see you are getting back on the wagon. I know it is very hard to stay op when you have so many other stresses in your life. Thanks for posting the newspaper article. You've become one of our celebrities (Deb being the other one of course). It's good to see some positive stuff printed about SB in the press instead of the negative stuff you usually see written by people who have never even read the book.

Karen - Glad to hear the funeral went well. Even though it is a sad time for the family it must be a good feeling to have so many people paying tribute.

Gotta go. Hope everyone has a good week and a good WIW. See you all in two weeks.

Bye

Marie.

SOLSHINE---Congrats on getting the dress ON and ZIPPED. That is so great!!!!! I know that I have a jumper that when I can button it AND sit down ill be jumping for joy. I’m so thrilled for you. Isn’t it great to see physical evidence that your body is getting smaller???? Please tell me, because I’m not seeing any of that with my body right now. I forget what it’s like. Ha!

BOB---WELCOME BAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!! You were truly missed. Please back the wagon up to my back porch after you finish picking up Viv. I need an “all aboard” for it too. Glad your trip was good. Are you refreshed??? How was the drive back? Did you try another detour via Mom?

DEB---I agree with everybody else about putting the scale away. It’s got to be better than what you are going through now. And how appropriate that you found that article about stress adding pounds. You’ll get through this and to your goal. Well, Paul and I have beautiful hairs now!!! Thank god, because we were long and shaggy. Of course, this rainy weather and humidity does nothing but flatten mine. Oh well, what’s one more flat part on my body??? Ha!!! Thanks for the tips on two new types of fruit. I will try them both and let you know what I think. Of course, I’ll have to ask the produce man what they are, because I wouldn’t recognize them. Thanks for setting me straight on the tube pan. Incidentally, any recipe where you have to separate eggs is complicated in my standards! What’s the latest on your dad? Did he get moved to the better facility? Keep us posted. Tell him there a whole bunch of wonderful, powerful women who are sending good thoughts his way. Be sure and ask if he feels our vibes!!!

VIV---If that’s all you ate for this whole day, belly up to the bar and have a few more items. I don’t think you are eating enough. But that’s just my humble opinion.

SEF---Loved the poem!!!! Very good. Did you get my email from this morning? I fell asleep in front of the tv and now it’s time to REALLY go to bed, so I’ll catch you tomorrow.

Okay, as I just told Shirley, I conked out in front of the tube (these Stanley Cup Playoffs are killing me!!!) So I just woke up and it’s 11:30. Booo hooo. I had so many things to say!!! Guess you all just luck out for the night and I’ll catch you all tomorrow night. Are we chatting????? I’ll pop in there for sure.

Have a great day tomorrow. Nitey night.
Take care.

Hello Everyone

I, again have been lurking, and not posting, but my thoughts have been with all over the past several days. And I really missed hearing from you all yesterday, so I decided that I better start dropping a ine more often.

I am really looking forward to WIW- I think that I broke through my plateau- I'll let you know in 2 days.

Deb--I agree with the others--put the scale away for a few days.
It will help you remember that you are in control not the scale. You are eating and exercising- you are in control!!!!

Rosalie- I hope that you have a great vacation- sounds like a great trip that you have planned.

BOB---were you lucky enough to get the rain??? I could see all the lightening and even hear the thunder in the distance- but not a drop--we need it so bad-even my weeds are wilting.

Well I wish everyone a great Tuesday and a Happy eating day.
Laurie

before I head out the door.

ROSALIE---I hope I haven't missed you before you leave today. HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!!! I'll be thinking of you and hoping for good weather and lots of fun. Do you think you'll be able to pass up some yummy scones????? That would be a test for me!!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

MARGARET---I know you are busy with your wedding plans, but just wanted to say happy, happy, happy, happy, happy birthday. Hope it's filled with love and good things and all the sf cake you can eat!!!! We miss you.

My Tuesday Tip: WATCH YOUR PORTION SIZES. I'm astounded at how skewed my view of what a half cup of anything can be.

Everybody else, I'll catch you all tonight on the chat. Have a great Tuesday.

Take care.

Happy Tuesday Everyone:cool:

I have 2 Tuesday Tips:

1. Eat more protein when you plateau and have stress in your life. Deb...you listed the hormone cortisol as a hormone that will decrease the amount of glocugen which is a hormone that increases your metabolism. Eating protein releases less insulin and more of the glocugen...so eat your protein and decrease the carbs....

2. Have an attitude of gratitude. I've heard this many times before but was at a luncheon yesterday and it really hit home again. I have so much to be thankful for but forget it when things go wrong. I am healthy, feel strong, and my family is healthy and strong...We are so blessed in our country but as one of the post said yesterday...our moods can trick us into thinking things are bad or they something is wrong. Remember when you are blue/down that all of us have come so far and are doing so well because we are eating and excercising to feel HEALTHY>>>

Ok...enough lecture...BOB glad you are back....

Froggie...any more pics?

Rhoo: You will get there soon.

DEB: One thing about maintaining is you do fluctuate up about 6 pounds a month and down the same amount...you never stay one weight. Just remember that and think that you are getting a great practice time for maintaining...

Rosalie: You'll be below 200 in no time...keep up the good work.

Gator: Couldn't believe Georgia beat FSU to go to the College World Series...Can't wait for football to start...it will be here soon.

Everyone Else keep up the good work. I will be out of town until Friday and check in with ya'll later.

Sorry to see the boards were down yesterday, so posting for me was a bust. :( I'm already way past time to get ready for work, but needed/wanted to pop in and say hello! I'm going nuts not being able to print out everyone's posts, but my printer is being finicky right now and won't print in black. After a major dookie attack, again yesterday (I ate a hot dog, big :nono:, apparently) so I'm down 3 lbs from last week. I'm off, hope all is well for you, glad to see that you stayed Frog, I didn't see everything that occured, but Nancy filled me in. You are a wonderful person and I would hate to see you go. This is our home, all of the aspects of our lives are important to share, we are friends.

Good bye for now.

Good Morning Gals!

Just catchin' up on reading the post! I've had my mine on all this house stuff! We decided to re-finance and put in new carpet and tile. Can't wait!!!! Hopefully everything will work out, say prayers for us please! WE NEED IT!

The reason I havene't posted too much is because of puter problems. Sometimes when I post on this particular computer (the only one in the house currently working) it doesn't work.
Trust me, I'm dying to post a big long post to you all.

Deb
Is the book a new SB book that you are involved in? I'm out of the loop. Please feel me in!!!!

BOB
The BUZZING IS BACK!!!!! Looking forward to hearing about your travels! How did you do staying on plan during your trip?

I have a MAJOR announcement. I actually got my butt up and WALKED this morning at 5:00am. HOLY SMOKES!!!! It's about time!

Won't be able to do the chat tonight :( . Have to go do more HS physicals with the Doc! Bummer! But it's extra $$

I hope I can get the rest of you addressed later! Thinking about everyone of you! Have a great day!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

Well, I was able to get in my walk this morning, did 4.5 miles, but it was a slow walk, by pinky toe is killing me. I failed to mention that I hit it on the corner of the wall on Sunday and that it's nice and swollen, and black and blue:eek: Despite the pain, I got out there!

Happy to say the scale finally went down a little, at least I'm back down below 135, at 134 this morning. It was like the flood gates opened up last night, almost every hour I was in the bathroom. I hardly drank anything yesterday, which I know isn't good, but I can't imagien what it would of been like if I had! I should of realized that last week, I put a kuna hora (VIV is that right spelling ?, I doubt it), on myself-in Yiddish, it's a curse. I mentioned that "at least I hadn't gone above 135-and lo and behold, I sure did after saying that! When will I ever learn?!?:?:

I journaled every little thing that went into my mouth yesterday and felt that I couldn't of done any better than what I had done. I'm doing the same today. Hopefully, I'll see more good news tomorrow for WIW.

Being today is TUESDAY TIPS I have 2 small tips to share with you all. First, I find that if I really want something filling, I take a cup of skim milk (extra calcium one) and a cup of crushed ice and throw that in the blender with some flavored extract (yesterday, I used almond and coffee together), whip it until all the ice is gone, and you've got about 24 ounces of whipped drink to fill your tummy. I don't put sweetener in it, but you can if you want! Second, when you are making veggies and you have scraps, like celery tops, parts of onions, etc. Throw these all in a freezer bag, freeze them, and keep adding to the bag until it's full, then make vegetable broth from what's in the bag!

Daddy Update Nothing new with my Dad-thank you all for asking. The procedure he was to have yesterday, last I heard, is suppose to be done today. Seems too many Dr.'s involved and one has to wait for another. He's not liking being there for so long when he feels fine-but he just hates being stuck in the bed! I may try to go see him tomorrow-he's not close to me at all anymore, and the hospital, even though it's one of the best, isn't in the best neighborhood-hopefully though, I'll get there soon :)

QUILTER, thanks for posting that excerpt from the book, it really says a lot! I'm sure you and Paul look like you should be on the cover of OHIO MAGAZINE! Talk about frizz, please, come summer and the humidity here, well, lets just say, my hair clips do overtime, I rarely wear my hair down-I look like a lion on a bad hair day! Asian pears are a cross between a pear and an apple, should be VERY juicy-some varities sorta look like a yellow apple, but more round, others have a brownish skin-I love them.

LAMAP, I'm glad you checked in. Hope your WIW is what you expect for tomorrow.

BEACH, thanks for the tips-will keep the protein idea in mind. I wouldn't mind going up the usual 4-5 pounds during those TOM if I was down to 124, but not going up above 135 again-that's heart wrenching for me to see. Did you EVER have a time that you went up so much for no apparent reason at all that you could figure out?? BTW, have a great time!!!!

LDBLOND, what kind of hot dog did you eat that would cause such trouble?? I eat them once in a blue moon and haven't been lucky enough to see a 3lb loss-what brand did you eat? Maybe I should indugle in one! Hey, I see 1 more pound and you'll hit another milestone-less than 10lbs to go, in the 150's-WOO HOO!!!

BOB, I just can't IMAGINE that you would have an unlady like mouth-you, NEVER!! I do wish you had been around though, I'm sure you could of shed some interesting light on the subject!!! We're just glad to have you back safe and sound, though it does seem you may be making another trip soon, to load up the wagon. What I'd like to know-is your last destination with a full load up to my front door?

SEF, I've seen that prayer many times, but never get tired of reading it once again-thanks for posting it!

ICESKATE, before I forget, I don't think I do have your e-mail address-if you haven't gotten an e-mail from me in the last couple days, then I definitely don't. Thanks for posting that motivational thought, it's a good one. I think, for me, I can only say that I need to increase my water intake, I'm doing all the other things you mentioned that the WW book says. I guess time will tell! Congrats for finally being able to relax with school being out-hope you get some much needed "ME" time!!!

ROSALIE, I don't know if you will read this before you go, but again, have a WONDERFUL TIME in the UK! We'll be eager to hear all about your trip when you return. Make sure you take a picture we can finally get posted on the board of you!!! HINT, HINT, HINT! We'll miss you!

KAREN, I'm still trying to figure out the new things since the upgrade as well. I hate change, unless its a change in the scale going down! I guess it will take a little getting use to with the new features, as well as taking some time to find the button to see the old posts!!

NANCE, like I said, everything happens for a reason-I'm sure your decision to stay put where you are is a good one for now. Congrats to you AND Dan for getting your butts out of bed-not only is that great exercise, but some nice time alone. When Eli use to walk with me, we had some great talks. Will miss you at tonight's chat!

Okay gals, time for me to hit the showers and do some errands. It's raining, but I have to get out there and go.

A reminder about TONIGHTS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Here's the link that should take you right to the chat room:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbchat.php

At the time of this post, I can't click on the link above like I usually can and I was unable to get into the chat area, so I am hoping it will be working by this evening!!!! We may have to go through the entry room, if that's even working. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!

Also, please don't forget, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!! I hope and pray the scales are kind to us all!!!!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Good morning everyone!

I haven't been posting much lately, and boy, do I need too! I really need the support from this group, and when I go MIA, I seem to wander away from the right WOE!

DEBBIE: Thanks for the great article on stress and weight gain. I can definately relate! Maybe that's where the spare tire in the middle came from!

Happy birthday to all of our June birthdays!

We took Ross to camp yesterday....he will be gone for 5 nights.:( I don't know what to do without him here. We've been basically joined at the hip since October. He has gone to Camp Smile-A-Mile, which is a camp sponsored by Children's Hospital. It looks really neat and I know he'll have tons of fun. I can't help but worry, though. I've been the one to give him all his medicine, etc...so I don't know what to do with myself. One of our favorite nurses is there this week giving out the medications, so I know that he'll be well taken care of. They have a website, if you want to check it out. It's www.campsam.org

Hope everyone has a great week. I'm really nervous about WIW tomorrow. I haven't weighed in a couple of days and have no idea where I am right now. If I just didn't gain, I'll be happy!

GATORGAL -- Just got an e-mail from MELF – looks like we’re going to get to meet tomorrow! She’s going to give me a call tonight to work out the details! Hooo Haaa!!

BOB – WELCOME BACK!!! We’ve finally started getting some rain up here in Central Florida also. My weeds are happy – I think the grass is beyond hope. We’re contemplating a yard of wildflowers of the weed variety instead of grass these days. Mississippi State came real close to going to the World Series this year. I hope that bodes well for football season as well.

RHOO – I’m sure remembering how hard it was to get to where you are that when you feel those pants getting tight you’ll snap yourself back into shape. Of course, hanging out with us here and your plan you’ve set will keep you right on track. Just count yourself among the ranks of the pros at maintaining and helping the rest of us get to our goals. I had to laugh at that quote “This too shall pass” – My mom used to teach Sunday School and she told our class one time that she always told us that and I looked at her like she was crazy – I’d never heard her say that before in my whole life!! Turns out she was telling herself that all the time, just in her head, and so I did never hear it. Guess that tells what kind of kid I was!

VIV – That’s not a typical day for you, is it? OMG, I’d be a ravenous beast roaring at everyone in my path if that was all I ate! I’m still trying to figure life out here, but that doesn’t look like very much food to me. Are you hungry? It doesn’t look like enough veggies or protein, to me, but I’m sure the pros on here will be able to give more help. Hang in there! Between everyone here we should figure it out – at least know we’re all cheering for you!

DEBBIE – What about cutting carbs drastically for about a week and maybe increase protein and see if that jump starts things? Glad your dad got moved and that it’s a better place for him to get the best care, but sorry it’s not in the best neighborhood. Hopefully he’ll be out of there soon!

FROG – That picture of you on the beach reminded me of Gilda Radner singing “Gimme Mick”!! And your parents – Dharma would be jealous!! They look like a fun couple, but, of course, they must be – they raised our beloved FROG, didn’t they? :D

SEF – I like that poem!

MARIE - If you haven’t gone yet – HAVE A GREAT VACATION!!! I hope you have perfect weather and can find a cybercafe to check in at least once and let us know how great a time you’re having!! Maybe even post a photo of you enjoying your holiday.

KAREN – I’m looking for that button too! If you find it before I do please let me know. And ditto.

QUILTER – Thanks for the kind words! It was truly exciting. I’m still holding on to my favorite skirt that I haven’t been able to wear in – gasp – 5 years. I’m no where near ready to even attempt to try it on yet, but when I get that puppy on – LOOK OUT!! There’s gonna be a party on this board!! We’ll have BOB yelling for us to put our seatbelts on. Thanks, too, for the reminder on portion sizes. I guess way too often on those – I need to get better at that, maybe my journaling will help (I’m finally getting a little better at that)

MARGARET – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

LAURIE – looking for good news from you tomorrow! Thanks for checking in with us.

IDBLOND – Way to go!! Good news on the loss! You’re totally kicking butt on this! 16 pounds is awesome!

NANCE – I’m impressed!! 5am is awfully early to be getting up – that’s discipline, my dear! It WILL pay off! I agree with Deb, I enjoy those walks and that quiet time to myself or the chance to really catch up with Vince-meister without the phone ringing, tv blaring, dinner distracting, etc. That’s a habit you’ll enjoy once it’s built in. Fixing up the house aint so bad. It can be fun and like a new house when you get through. Keep us up to date on the progress. Will you be doing it yourself or calling in xperts to do it? I’m not daring enough to do those things on my own.

LISA – Good to hear from you. I know you spend so much time with Ross that it will be tough being away from him. Could be a good time to enjoy some time doing things for LISA!! Maybe a few Calgon moments and even a nice romantic date with DH. :D I’m glad there’s places for children like him to visit and be able to have fun without the parents having to worry about the special needs of their beloved children. It’s great that his favorite nurse will be there, too.

I actually worked out pretty hard yesterday! They kept an eye on me to make sure I stayed in proper form and speed for the weight training. I thought that was really nice. I love the extra special attention you get in a gym like this. I’m noticing that my posture is getting better so maybe the rest of the results will become more noticeable over time. I’ve been spot-checking on the scales and they aren’t really moving much, so hopefully the tape measure will be good to me tomorrow if the scale won’t. :)

Vince surprised me by coming and finding me in the grocery store yesterday on his way to the gym. I’m sure we looked like goobers hugging in the middle of the produce section at Publix. I hit all the isles first and then circle around the produce section and the refrigerated stuff. ¾ of our groceries came from the outer section of the store. The cart was almost empty when I got to the produce section and I thought we would be coming in with a low total for the week – NOT! – after loading up on veggies and fruits, meats/fish and then milk and cheese and eggs the cart was busting over and the total was right up there. UGH! At least it was healthy stuff, right?

Here’s to lots of good news tomorrow from everyone!

Just a quickie

Deb - I was just fooling around trying to figure out why the url for the chat site wouldn't work. I copied and pasted it into the address bar and it worked fine. I then went to the POST screen and it worked there. So I will post it and hope it works this time. Maybe there is a glitch in the system as I used the exact same address as you had posted.

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbchat.php

I was just having a final lurk - my plane doesn't leave until 9.30 p.m. Thanks for all your good wishes. Will talk to you all when I get back. I'll think about posting a picture if I get any good ones!

O.K......I finished lunch, and have PLENTY of time to use the good computer at work!!!! I'm going nuts not being able to post on my regular computer at home. Dan the Man needs to put in a new processor. For some reason on his computer in the passion pit, when I post, it says I am not "logged in", so I log in and post, and then I get the same stupid message!!

Solshine
I feel alot better since I exercised today. I have been procrastinating for so long, I was getting on my own nerves!
5:00am. is about the only time the weather is decent enough to walk. Dan is in shape and jogs, and I try to do my speed walking as best I can with 100lbs of fat located on my butt, love handles, and thighs!:dizzy: I feel good about our decision to fix up our place. We will have a pro do the carpet and maybe try to tackle the tile ourselves. We will paint ourselves. I got so many great ideas from looking at those model homes. I hope I remember everything I liked. I need to break down and buy a new sweing machine so I can get to work making some pillows and curtains.
You would never be able to find stuff like they had in the models at regular stores. I hate those cheap, no body curatins that they sell at Target and Walmart. I'd rather buy the fabric and make them myself. We also want to buy some art work. Right now we have a hodge-podge of things, no real theme, and I would like to
get a "look" going on. I wall papered my kitchen with the neatest boarder. It's a grapevine, with rich jewel tones, and has a cut edge on one side. Love Pottery Barn stuff, etc. but can't afford it. Maybe I can get the rest of my Pier One Imports bedroom set! As you can tell, my mind is running wild with the possibilities!

Lisa_A_A
I'm sure Ross wil be fine on his trip. I can understand how you feel. Anytime my kids are gone, it feels really weird. It usually takes me 2-3 days before I relax, and by then, their usually back!
It will be good for him to go to camp, and it will only stengthen your bond with him! Is he your only child?

Gatorgal
Are you going to post some of those BBQ recipes that we keep hearing about? I would love how to learn how to cook fresh fish on the grill. I need to buy one of those BBQ baskets, because I manage to get half of everything on top of the coals instead of my plate!

Viv
Did you say that reported was going to go on SB and report about it? If so, that will be interesting to here their progress!
I have a friend who lives in Darien, Conn. Is that near you?

Sparklescamp
I haven't heard anymore date news. What's the skinny? Any plans for this weekend?

Quilter
How long have you been doing Yoga? I still haven't got over to our Yoga center to see what the prices are. There's been so much positive press about it lately. Did you see the cover of time magazine with Christy Turlington?

BOB
Buzz...buzzz......buzzzzzzzzzz. As you have requested, I am hear to make sure your wagon is on the right road, since returning from vacation. Did you stay OP? Have you weighed???? Can you tell me what the middle digit is on those exclusive numbers????
I was in WW a while back. I was a rebel, and istead of eating the fresh fruit, I would opt for a WW dessert, and a fat (however the points work!). I was stilla ddicted to sugar and did anything I could to get it. I agree it's a good program, and I liked having to count water, veggies, etc. otherwise, sometimes we don't eat what we are supposed to! How's Skeeter recovering from the trip? I found some weiner-dog wallpaper on a site called "Web-shots" under the puppy and dog category and thought of you. You might need to go check it out!

Well, I better get back to business. DIdn't mean to intentionally leave anyone out, cause I know I didn't cover everyone, but the clock say boss man will be back soon, and I need to get busy with
a project! I won't be able to make the chat tonight, working extra
tonight, but I will be there in spirit!

:( Well I asked for rain but didnt expect a tropical storm. Hopefully it will be just a bunch of wind and rain but no tornadoes or such.

All you June bday girls Happy Bday.

I got my lab results back. I have compared them to my last physical in July. Here goes

Blood glucose 107 122
total cholesterol 177 170
triglycerides 114 70
HDL 49 61
LDL 105 95
Had to go in for a HGBA1C as my blood glucose was high. Then I got tagged with a UTI. Lifes and times of being a woman.

Gator - Number 1 reason I learned to play golf was so I could play with the dh. He used to spend all his days off with the guys golfing here and there, while I sat home and got p%$$@!. It is good exercise when you walk and some of the better courses can be somewhat pretty. It is a frustrating game that you play against yourself (at least I do). Nothing is consistant. I have good days and I have bad days. My dh is always saying that a bad day of golf is better than a good day at work. Not a whole lot of women play so when I play with my dh I usually end up playing with a bunch of guys, but they are okay with a "girl playing". Plus you get to wear such cute clothes(hehehe):D

Well hopefully I can get on to chat tonite.

Hey Everybody::wave:

The tropical storm, "Allison" which is in the gulf near Galveston is creating havoc on our weather. What everyone kept saying would happen -did. :( We didn't get rain for months, now we are getting street flooding. I guess the wind got so high at one point today, that it knocked a huge oak tree over onto a house  I was supposed to go to a meeting and didn't think that I would be able to make my first "chat", but now I don't know if I am going to chance getting out in all this rain.

If I don't go, and the weather is not too bad, (and if we have electricity:spin: I'll join the "chat".

Deb: I just thought that when we registered you automatically got our email addresses. I will email it to you now.

Good luck to all on WIW.

Evening Everyone:wave:

Not much happening down here, a much needed soggy day, lots of hard rain, so I really didn't venture too far out, just a few errands in between the raindrops. Can't complain about the rain, we so need it.

I'm having major problems again tonight with my computer, took me over 20 minutes to finally be able to get on, and hoping I won't get booted again-if for any reason you don't see me at chat, you'll know why-I may have to take an ax to this thing soon-we are all disgusted with it!

Eli got 4 awards from work today, very unusual for someone to get so many at once. He was also recognized for his being voted Mgr. of the Quarter at the party they had today (about 200 people where there). The VP of Starbucks also came to his store today and was VERY IMPRESSED! Needless to say, I'm proud of the old goat:)

LISA, I'm sure ROSS is going to have a wonderful time at camp. I know you miss him, but just think of all the good this is going to do him. It will be a time he will remember always-my kids love camp! Gosh, how I wish they were going this summer-I'm going to miss a quiet and clean home that I usually get for 8 glorius weeks! I tried the website for the camp and couldn't get it to come up, are you sure it's the correct link url??

SOL, I know cutting carbs drastically will not work for me, not even for a short time period, one of the reasons I never attempted to go on Atkins. Sounds like you had a good workout-are you looking forward to these workouts, or do you dread them?

NANCE, PASSION PIT?!? Oh boy, do you sound like newlyweds, or what!! Hope you aren't working too hard tonight. Are you and Dan planning for another early exercise session tomorrow morning??

CAT, sorry to hear you have a UTI, hope that clears up soon. Hoping Allison doesn't come to you, or any of the gals from LA!!! Boy, that sure did pop up fast, didn't it-and so early in the season! Where in Texas are you??

ICESKATE, thanks for the e-mail, you're so sweet :) I can sympathize with you with all the rain, we need it, but not all at once, we had more flooding during a downpour than we had with Andrew-not fun! I just hope it doesn't have much more of an impact on you gals in LA or those in TX.

Well, I'm hoping my computer lets me on for the chat, I'm a bit worried, so I hope by leaving it on forthe next 45 minutes it will help some. Again, here is the link to our SB CHAT ROOM

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbchat.php

The link seems to be working at this time.

Again, another reminder TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! Good luck to you all!!!

Hello All! Here it is almost time to chat. Hope we can all get together and gab to our hearts’ content. Not much new to report from here. My stomach is kinda feeling out of sorts tonight. But nothing too unpleasant. I think I just ate too much of one thing or another.

BEACH---You and I are on the SAME wavelength. When I was looking for a motivation thing for yesterday, I came across a great one on gratitude. But passed it over for the one abou the moods. Isn’t that funny? You and I are into the gratitude thing right now. It’s definitely a healthy way to live your life for sure. I have a cousin who has spent the past year battling breast cancer. She said that one thing she started doing from the very beginning (at her diagnosis) was first thing in the morning get up and write down at least three things she was grateful for. She said she always started out with LIFE and GOD’S BLESSINGS and then went from there. Even on her really bad days there was always something that she could say thanks for. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They are spurring me into action.

NANCE---On the subject of your house, I will defer to my wonderful mother-in-law and quote her: “It’s cheaper to keep her.” She told me that a while back, when I saw that every house that even looked decent to me was way out of our price range. So we are starting our efforts to fix the one we have now. The first thing we want to do is put on a deck out back. I love to sit outside, but we really have no where to do that. Good luck with what you are doing. If this doesn’t go smoothly, I may have to cry on your shoulder. Okay???? BTW, what to go on the walking. You are stronger than me to get up at 5 a.m. AWESOME!!!!!! That was funny when you told Solshine that you were getting on your OWN nerves. I LOL at that one! Also, (I have lots to talk to you abou tonight!) I have been doing yoga for probably 6-7 weeks. I can’t remember exactly. The wholistic health center where I go for our sessions (which is part of one of the big hospital chains here) charges $10 a session. The session is an hour and 15 minutes. And the time flies. Yes, I did see the Time article and incidently, I can do NONE of the poses Christy or the other woman did. They must know magic to get their bodies to do that stuff!!!

DEB---Sorry to hear about your toe. They may be tiny, but they can sure put out a big amount of pain. Go easy on it for a few days and let it get all the owwwies out. Thanks for more details about the asian pears. I stopped at one of the outdoor markets this morning, but he didn’t have anything like that. I did buy some yummy cherries. So that was a nice change of taste.

LISA---Hoping YOU can last the five days while Ross is at camp. I’ll keep you in my thoughts. What a good thing that there is a nurse you know and like there with him. That has to make going to sleep at nighta bit easier!

SOLSHINE---Your workouts at the gym sound great! I’m so happy for you that it’s working out well for you. You are right . . . it does cost more to eat healthy foods. I’ve noticed that, but feel as you do that it’s worth it. Keep up the good work and keep thinking of “the skirt.”

For those of you I don’t talk to on the chat, have a great evening and an even better day tomorrow. Thanks for all the great support that each of you give. We are truly a remarkable group of humans.

Take care.
Kim

VIV--In looking at what you listed as what you ate yesterday, I would say that the carob covered peanuts would probably not be the very best for you in your present situation. That is, when you are having trouble with temptation and giving up sugar, this is bordering on the edge of Sugar! If it were me, the next thing I would be doing would be saying, “the heck with this carob stuff; I’ll just have one or two chocolate covered peanuts, and maybe a couple of chocolate covered raisins for a tiny little snack. These won’t really hurt. After all, what can a couple of peanuts and raisins count!!”
For me, it would be all down hill from there. Maybe a snack of celery filled with Neufchatel cheese or peanut butter (.5 T peanutbutter) or a wedge of melon would be better. Or a small salad of wonderful mesclun lettuce with a slice of tomato, if you can get good ones.

Debelli--My thoughts on your food list would be to try to increase the calories to 1300 or 1350. If you haven’t been that “high” it might just be the thing to kick start the losing that you’ve been waiting for.

BeachFan--Only 88 more days till the first game. I’m getting in practice: Go Gators!!

Nance--The easiest way to guarantee having a long post make it without being kicked off is this--Write whatever you want to say in a word processing program, like MS Word or Word Perfect. Don’t write anything on the little screen on the board that you see when you hit reply. Don’t even hit “reply.” Just click back and forth from the SB board to your word processing program and type whatever you want. Then, when you finish what ever you want to say and are ready to post a reply, copy what you’ve written in your word processing, then go to the board and click on “new reply” and then “paste” in what you’ve “copied” from your word program. Everything that you typed in Word or what ever program you have will appear on the board reply screen and you can immediately click on “submit reply” and that’s all there is to it. You hardly have to be online at all. It is really simple, and it gives you the option to “save” your typing as you work along in your Word program, so that if the power goes out or something, you will still have what you’ve written. Does this make sense?

Debelli--That hint about the skim milk in the blender sounds yummy and also just the thing to add those few extra calories to get the numbers up if you are short 50-100 calories. I think I’ll try it one of these days for an afternoon snack. Might be good with a little decaf coffee powder added, or cocoa powder and a bit of stevia for sweetener.

SolShine--I think I’ll be here most of tomorrow. I do have a dentist appt. in the morning, but it is fairly early. Where are y’all going to meet? BTW, how was your solo workout at Fitness Coach. I know it is not as easy to push yourself as hard as they push you. You might consider having a trainer once every two weeks just to keep you on track. That way you could set a goal for yourself to work yourself so hard that when they work you out they will suggest going up on the weights on some of the machines. Just a suggestion. Another idea is to get Vince to be your “personal trainer” and push you through. My husband won’t do that for me, though, because he isn’t “strict” enough and if I just falter a little bit he says it is OK to get off the machine. Maybe Vince would be better.

BOB--I thought of you tonight as we had dinner. I fixed rump roast (I was dying for a big jolt of protein and beef was my protein of choice) and field peas with snaps, mustard greens and turnip greens mixed together, and yellow squash casserole. I dumped a package of Wileys both in the peas and in the greens and added a spoonful of oil to each. I also added hot sauce to the greens. It was all very yummy and I could have eaten till I was stuffed. This all is like comfort food to me. But I was careful and measured everything except the greens, which are almost no calories. That Wiley’s really adds something to veggies. I’ve also tried it in “fried” cabbage and it is great.

BTW, I’ve had good success using Fitday.com for keeping track of my calories and percent of proteins, fats and carbs. I have leafed through those calorie books for so many years and I was just sick of it. It began ruining meals for me, because there I was waiting to eat as I turned back and forth in the book looking for what I had eaten and guessing at the portion amount. The books never listed the same portiions that I ate. I would have to divide the calories for one cup into an amount for one ounce, or something like that. Anyway, the fitday.com has made it lots easier, and I just wait till after I eat and then take a few minutes to enter my food into their program, and “voila” ! Instant information and calorie amounts.

Cherries are coming in now. They are one of my very favorite fruits. I could eat cherries like popcorn. They are 5 calories each, but I have to restrain myself from eating a pound!!!

I am now officially signed up to take French lessons one night a week beginning next week. Four of us will be taking lessons from a Haitian man who attends my church and speaks 4 languages. He is brilliant and I think I’m lucky to have him willing to teach us. I had HS french and still remember some of it, but would like to get much more proficient.

Well, I’ll sign off. Have some studying to do for the class I teach on Sunday.

I'm in a major funk tonight. I'm in NC getting ready for my trip to NY--which has hit some major snags. I'm sure everything will work out--but I'm tired from the long drive and need rest before I deal with this tomorrow. Today also wasn't the best OP day either. I didn't plan ahead for being on the road (other than a bunch of grapes) so I didn't make the wisest choices. Fortunatly when I got here Mom had a baked chicken and lima beans and SF jello. SB comfort food!

It's good to read about everyone else. BOB I'm glad you arehome safely--let us know how the WW/SB works out. I've thought of that too--so I'd be interested in knowing how you are working it. Lisa--take some time to refresh yourself. Ross will have a wonderful time and he will need a mom who has also done a little Rest and relaxation. Deb--burn those scales! You are already successful, don't let some bouncing around minimize your accomplishment. Everyone else I have to go before I fall asleep at the keyboard.

Talk to you soon!

I forgeot about the chat..aghhhhhhhhhh. It would have been my first caht too! Can't blame it on gdtr either, she wasn't online. I was just tired. "Allison" is affecting my arthritis. When barometer is down, my discomfort is up. I also went shopping, a shopper I ain't! Then got in the hot tub and pool. I love being able to get in pool. I can do my exercising with less discomfort and it relieves stress on joints and muscles. Did not have to get supper as dil cooked tonight.

NANCEMEISTER & QUILTER - Home repairs, remodeling is really fun. My husband and I did those things together. We built an addition that was the size of a small house. It is such hard work, but soooooo rewarding. We learned as we went.

iT HAPPENED AGAIN! JUST POSTS W/O ME ASKING IT TOO!

iCESKATE - I didn't answer you. I love Michele Kwan too. Scott Hamilton is terrific and I always thought he had the fastest feet, but I think Kurt Browning now has him beat in that category.

LISA - It's just a little taste of empty nest syndrome. When my son left for the army I cried for a week. When my daughter left for college 2 yrs. later it seemed easier.

CAT - Hope you are feeling better soon,

DEB - I have increased my intake and seem to be losing again, I'll know tomorrow! I thought less was better but doesn't appear to work thatway.

GATOR - French lessons! I'm impressed. I went back to school after I lost my job. At 54 it wasn't easy getting back into the studying mode. But I did it and was successful.

Hope you all have a good day. Tomorrow is my day at the NH. I really look forward to it.

BTW the NH has a small garden and I bought some squash from them. It was so good. Just peeled it, seeded it, cooked w/ a little water, drained it and added butter, salt & pepper so very delicious.

Look forward to all your posts tomorrow. As you can tell I am usually a nightowl and am on late at night.

Take care.

Well, the chat last night was great!!!! For those of you who missed, sorry. Be sure and check us out next Tuesday! Just a couple of things.

BOB---Paul said he's push me in front of the wagon!!!! How's that for a typical male smart *%! comment. He's always trying to be funny. Yesterday I was yelling for him to get out of bed (he's such a mattress hog!). I had already been up and let Miss M out. Came back in and no response from the bed. I stood at our bedroom door for like 5 minutes telling him I knew he was awake, blah, blah, blah. Then went over to physically remove the covers and it was a bunch of pillows all lined up like a body under the covers. He was standing behind me laughing his booty off. It was too funny. I was also laughing like crazy.

SEF---Still trying to get that email back to you. I stayed too long on the chat last night. Ooops. That garden at the nh sounds wonderful. What a great idea!

DEB---Send the pictures. It would be great if I could get them this weekend, then I could scan them over the weekend at Paul's office.

Not much to report, because I'm still avoiding the scales. I'm giving it one more week and then I'll check . . . promise!!! It's raining again today here. We had some severe storms last night. Some places in Northern KY got 6-8 inches just during the evening hours. Of course, flooding follows.

Saw a grusome site last night on the way home from work. Police had taped off a house on this very busy street. Just a couple of cop cars there at the time we drove by and of course, I was rubber necking while Paul drove. Wish I hadn't because there was a body laying in the yard. I cannot get that image out of my head. Of course, the cracker jack news coverage we have in this city has made not one mention of it on any of the four stations. One had a phrase about it running along the bottom of the screen and that is it. I watched 90 minutes of news last night and all they wanted to talk about was the REds latest draft pick (yuck) and a candy convention in Chicago. Geesh!!!! You can bet I'll be calling this morning. Hopefully, the paper will have some details.

Well, I truly hope WIW will be great for all of you. Can't wait to come home from work and hear what's gone on today with the scales.
Take care.

:) Morning all. I made it through Tropical Storm Allison. Got alot of wind and rain. Funny thing for all the rain we got, my front yard does not show any signs of it raining. Thats how much we Coastal Texans needed rain. Actually I live in Texas City which isnt far from Galveston. Hope everyone in Allisons path was spared any major flooding, or other calamities.

Sorry I missed the chat. I was tired from the days activities and went to bed early.

Now the good stuff. WIW

Everyone have a great day.

Okay, I'm up 1/2 pound, but I can blame it on TOM and/or weight lifting I hope. I guess I'll know better next week. I took measurements this morning and will look at what I posted last week to see if there's any changes. Hopefully those numbers look a little better.

GATORGAL - CALL ME! I left your number at home. MELF is going to call me when they get to Applebee's. I e-mailed you my number at work. I'm going to check out fitday.com - thanks for sharing that. I've been frustrated trying to figure out calories, etc on everything and want to track more than just calories, too.

Gotta get to working. Vince made me late this morning. The little stinker saw some Princess cut diamond earrings and thought I might like them and so he bought them for me and left them in the bathroom with a card for me to find when I went to brush my teeth to leave for work. I was so surprised and tickled. He is good about sending flowers for no reason and hadn't done it in a little while and so he said I could show everyone my "flowers" this morning. Not complaining one bit about being later to work today!! I've got the earrings on so maybe they'll show up in the pictures we take with MELF today.

Have a great day everyone! I'll check back in later with more personal messages for everyone. Sorry I missed chat last night. Y'all are the most fun group of gals to chat with!

Yipee! I kept off 1 of the lbs. from being sick, so I'm down 2lbs from last week. I really am trying to narrow down the triggers for my gastritis, so I'm going to keep a journal of my life for the next month. Anybody else out there suffer from this? I've had it for 2 years, been on Prilosec most of that time.

I have made many personal notes and plan to write a whopper tonight. For now, I have to get ready for work it's already 20 after 6!

Well, down 1.5 from last week. Hope it's not just a fluke!

Quilter - I can just see you ragging on your DH from the doorway and then discover he's standing behind you! Too funny!

Solshine - Can I have Vince spend some time with my DH? I'm sure he would be a wonderful influence on him. You lucky

Hope all the Texans on the board survived the storms. It's a shame when you need rain so bad to get it in a manner than it just runs off and doesn't do the good that a slow soaking rain would. Wish I could send you some of ours. It might be in the 70's by the weekend! Yipee!! We even turned our heat on in the house on Sun. and Mon.

Gotta get back to work!

Hi everybody! Just a fast note. (I have one minute to post) I'm not going to weigh in today because I've been eating too much cereal and am freaking out. Otherwise have been doing pretty well staying on program. Last night I made a lovely chicken and portabello mushroom dish in a low fat cream sauce. Last week I was at my lowest recent weight ever and even bought a dress in a size 8 (!!!!!!) although that was a fluke. Today I feel rather yucky. But anyway, it's Martin's 35th birthday and I have to leave early so I can run to the store and get some flowers for his desk. I also made him this LOVELY joke birthday picture of himself, I'm linking it because it's big:

http://www.shapeshakers.com/pics/fatmartin.jpg

EDIT: That is NOT a real picture of Martin. It's a fake done up in Photoshop with somebody else's body! [/EDIT]

Gotta go! Good luck to everyone on the weighing!

Love,

Chris

Just a quick note from me too. I have been so busy this week. Just read all the posts and hope all is well with everyone. Well I am down another 2 lbs this week. So I am now at 210 yipee.

Hope all of you in the gulf coast area are not flooding away. I remember when I lived in Houston I dreaded those hurricanes.

I will post a longer post tonight. I went into the chat last night but I was late and everyone had left. I think I went in there around 7:00pm pacific time.

I just got back from lunch with SolShine and Melf. Melf's husband, Thurman, was with us, and he is a dear. He just let us gals rattle on and on about SB stuff, and didn't act like he minded a bit.

Mary is precious: a cute little blond with a nice smile. And I could tell that she is really smart. We monopolized a table at Applebee's for 2 hours. It was fun ordering lunch there--we all asked for substitutions or eliminations from the entree. Melf and Sol had the ubiquitous salmon, and I had chicken stir fry. Leave off the rice and potatoes, and we all were happy! The best part was comparing notes and sharing our victories and struggles. Melf is so close to her goal. She looks fantastic; hardly needs to lose any more by looks, but she knows her best weight, so will be happy to watch her succeed.

Just wanted to let the board know of our happy meeting. I think getting together when the opportunity arises is a good idea.
Well, I need to change and get myself over to the gym to do some walking on the TM.

ladies, I have been down on the internet at work since before the weekend and I am losing my mind! Somy absence, once again, is beyond my control. Deb - keep us posted on your Dad. What do they say...an ounce of precaution is worth a poiund of cure....

Quilter - I liked that Don't Sweat the Small Stuff thingy. Right now I am dealing with am overemotional friend, and both of us have our emotions way too invested in the politics of school, etc. and she's got me very upset!

Nance - Yes, that writer said she would go on the plan, altho her column to day didn't mention it. I'm interested to know, maybe I'll send her an email....Darien's about 2 hours south of here, in the part of CT that really seems like New York (Fairfield county)..

GAtor - I hear ya about the peanuts, but when I lost that wonderful 11 lbs I was eating them daily too, and carob did check out okay with the Debmeister and from the research I did - it is unsweetened carob and with the protein in the nuts, really seems to help my cravings. Did you maybe think it was the sweetened stuff?

OK I really gotta go to baseball now. Sorry for not addressing everyone, I know I won't be up at work again tomor, they're not coming till Fri!!!!!!!!!!!

Afternoon Everyone!

Sorry I wasn't able to get my morning post in today, Eli had to run up to Broward (next county, about an hour drive, home to Ole Ole`) to pick up a fixture at another Starbucks, then we ran back, no lunch at Ole:( but did manage to go to a Middle Eastern rest for lunch. Eli had a meeting he had to get to by 1pm, so we were hurried today.

I was able to get in my walk/jog this morning-tootsie is still in pain, but better, so it wasn't so bad. Did the 4.5 miles in 54:45, not back for a walking injured!:rolleyes

Not sure of our plans this evening, kids are going to a screening of the movie Evolution, so we will drop them off and kill some time until they get out.

Okay, I got on the dreaded piece of metal this morning, still up from my lowest and last week, but at least I am back down below 135-today waas 132.5-I'm feeling a wee bit better now!!!

Chat was great last night, seemed the system went faster, wish more of you could of joined in:)

DADDY UPDATE Dad is fine, no damage at all in the heart, clots have disolved and he should be coming home in a day or so. Thanks again for all your good wishes and prayers-they worked wonders!!!!

QUILTER, so nothing about the body? I'm sure you are DYING:lol: to know what transpired. Let us know if you find out. I LOVE Pauls sense of humor-lucky he didn't scare the dookie out of you!!! Hmm, on second thought, it wouldn't be such a bad idea before WIW!!! I won't get the pics out for this weekend, sorry, but I will get them out-just don't ask me when-ugh, why do I do this?:?:

BOB, hey, does that wagon trip come with frequent wagon miles?? Seems you may be racking up some miles on that wagon trip. Just remember your final destination!!!

GATOR, thanks for updating us on your meeting with SOL and MELF - did anyone remember to bring a camera???? I usually eat about 1300 calories, so I wasn't far off on what I posted, I ate 2 more items that added a little more to what I listed, but not too much. Good luck with the French lessons, my son is in his 4th year of French and really loves the language-hopes to use it one day in France!

FILLISE, hoping all goes well with your trip to NY. Seems like your Mom is really helping you stick to SB. Have a safe trip!!

SEF, sorry you missed the chat as well, but hey, there's always next week! I always make sure that the kids know I need the computer at 9:15 on Tuesdays, and unless they need it for school, and I'm home, I'm sure to be on. FYI, if your post goes through unintended, just hit the little EDIT tag and you can continue to add to your post, instead of making a new one. I don't know why they are going through when you don't want them to though. Sorry to hear your arthritis is acting up, but at least it doesn't keep you from playing in the pool:) I'm hoping you have some good news to post for WIW-I'm crossing my fingers for you:)

CAT, CONGRATS on another pound down the drain!! Do you realize you are a third of the way to goal already! Glad to hear things didn't flood your way!

SOL, glad to hear you met with MELF-did you take a camera-please tell me SOMEONE did!!! Boy, VINCE really does spoil you rotten, care to share?? He sounds like a real romantic. Don't worry about that 1/2lb, like you said, muscles or TOM, blame it on one of those!

LDBLOND, CONGRATS on another 2lbs out the window! Just 8 to go, that's awesome!!

NANCE, would you care to decipher that post????LOL!!!! Missed our usual morning chats today.

KAREN, CONGRATS to you for another 1.5lbs! Heat on-just the thought of it makes me want to kick down the a/c!

SPARKLE, CONGRATS on the size 8 dress. Don't you worry about jumping on the scale, you do what's right for you. Tell Martin Happy Bday! That picture is too much, but should you put it up as fatmartin?? And what exactly was he posing for?? Have a good time with him celebrating.

TIGGER, CONGRATS, another 2lbs, an at 210, that's wonderful. As you inch closer to the 199 mark, you'll see how exciting it gets! Actually, every pound gone should be exciting, but this is really exciting!!! Sorry we weren't in the chat at the time, we must of exited there around 9:50pm est or so, sometimes we go on and on, depends on how many show up. Hope you can make it next week.

VIV, RAISINS how can I give you a Brownie button for eating those??? Okay, that's problem #1. You are definitely NOT eating enough!

Okay, gotta get some slop on the table and call it dinner before we take the kids to the movies.

REMINDER TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any great SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please try to post them tomorrow on the NEW JUNE RECIPE BOARD The link is below, just click on it:

I'll try to check in tonight depending on how late we return, otherwise, tomorrow morning after my walk.

VIV--I agree. You probably need to eat more calories. Do you have any idea how many you are getting in a day? Now about the carob covered nuts! See. They have now progressed to carob covered raisins :nono: !!! This might be triggering those sugar cravings. BOB, bring the wagon! Just kiddin' ya, Viv. But hang in there and you'll see some good results.

Deb--Yep, there were TWO cameras and we took about 8 pix in all. Melf and Sol will make sure they get posted.

Hi everyone!

well, I can't remember what I weighed last Wednesday, but this morning I was down to 268. So that is great.

Glad to hear that a lot of you are also down. Keep up the great work.

Sorry I missed the chat last night. I was so tired, I went to bed at 9. Maybe I'll be able to stay awake next Tuesday.

Have a great day!

 I just typed this long message to all of you and just lost it all...I think I used too many "Similies". Oh well, I will have to try again later, I have work to turn in tomorrow, and have to get to it.

We are getting soaked here. How is it that the storm is over there, and we are getting the worst part.:dizzy: Go figure.

Well, how time flies...here we are at WIW so soon. Well, here goes...I lost 1/4 pound, or 1 stick of butter!:D I am pleased with that.

I have to fly, will try to post later with the rest of what I lost, but I am drinking coffee to prepare myself for a night of work ahead. It has to be faxed first thing in the morning.:(

Congrats to all who lost today, and to all of us here a big pat for being here:

EVENING EVERYBUDDY!! :D

I had a nice surprise at WW tonight.....I thought I had gained between 15 and 20 pounds...... I ONLY GAINED 8.4!!!!! I know, that isn't anything to jump up and down about, but it's better than I originally thought....So NANCE I'll be dropping one of those Gs from my stats....

Oh those front desk Ladies at WW tried to HOODOO BOB :nono: I received a letter with coupons to
come back without paying the BIG WW ENTRY MONEY and they tried to tell me I had been gone too long to use them....I told her that WW wouldn't have sent them to me if I couldn't use them and that I wouldn't be giving her the
BIG BUCKS :nono: and to quit trying to get them! I went to our Leader (who is also the Regional Director) and told her what had happened, and she took me back to the desk and took care of it! AND SOMETHING I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED at WW before....a covered dish next week! Now I have to cook up something....

QUILTER I bet that new REDS player is the one from *UK*??
Did you find out anymore about the body?
Tell Paul if he's quick enough, he can just push you in as I drive by...

Ok, where is everyone??? I'm off to lurk on the other boards...see you all later!

Well, I guess I got my wish. I didn't lose or gain this week...still stuck at 198. Considering my eating lately, I should be happy. I've got to get back on track! I can almost feel myself sliding back to my old bad habits. I'm going to try to better this week!

Well, I haven't heard from Ross, so I guess no news is good news. I do expect the little monkey to write me AT LEAST one time and let me know how things are going!!! I have enjoyed being able to spend more time with my daughter, Laura. She's 8, and has really gotten the short end of the stick over the last 9 months.

DEBBIE: I loved the cartoon about the scales..."don't step on it, it will make you cry". LOL, I know that feeling all too well!! Also, I went back to my previous post and clicked on the link I gave to Ross's camp and it worked for me. Here it is again for anyone interested: www.campsam.org

I've set up a new webpage to keep friends and family updated on Ross's treatments. I've got a few pictures on there and some links ......check it out if you have a chance. The address is www.caringbridge.com/page/ross

Congrats to all the "losers" this week....I hope I will be among you next week!

Thanks for your tip> I did try it this morning I swear, but it wouldn't allow me to "copy" for whatever reason, so I saved it, and couldn't paste it from there. I think the DH needs to put the new processor in our old reliable computer before things get ugly.
I could hide his beer and popcorn in order to get cooperation, right?

Your lab numbers look good! It's good that your HDL is up. Must be a reflection of your increased exercise. Did they let you know what your Hemaglobin A1C results were?

Debbie
Obviously you can't read the sarcastic tone in my voice when I refer to the passion pit! For only being married 7 months, you'd think we've been married 20 years! LOL! I got through with the physicals about 7:30pm, then we went to Red Robin and had drinks and dinner. I blew it and had a margarita last night! This morning Dan set the alarm clock to walk this morning, but SOMEONE went solo, as he slept in!!!(2.5 miles)

Quilter
Your MIL sounds like a wise woman!! I haven't heard anything yet....sweating bullets every time there's financial stuff to deal with. The deck sounds great. My husband Dan has worked on our backyard, and it looks sooooo good. We really enjoy being outside, especially in the evening. We try to eat outside as much as possible. We have vines growing up our patio cover, and have white twinkle lights strung through them. There's always good books at the library to get ideas from...and YES, you can cry on my shoulder, but I know a wise woman like yourself will be able to master the task at hand! Especially with Paul by yourside, although he'll probably hide a rubber snake underneath your deck once you get it done as a joke!

BOB
When you said "WW", I automatically thought "whole wheat". See, if I was drinking that fancy brew at Starbucks, I might have my brain cells working better. What is "OT"? (overtime?)
Little slow today, probably from getting up at 5:00a.m. and walking around the park like a zombie on auto-pilot. I got bad news for you, you've got a LONG, LONG, drive out to California to pick me up in the wagon! Make me last on the list so we can all go to Disneyland!

SOLSHINE

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!! DIAMOND EARRINGS!!!!!!!

Hello ladies. I hope everyone is dealing well with this WIW:p I won't complain here... no change here. Trying to stay at 124, though I had a couple up days in the past week.:smug: I went today to get my scheduled labs done. I go for the office visit with the Dr next week, and will find out how my cholestrol, trigylerides etc.... are doing.

I have picked some squash from my garden already:D Had some stewed with onions......yum!! I must say I am proud of myself. Just call me Farmer Fannie:lol: I see a baby watermelon starting to grow!!!! I have zucchinis on the bushes, lots of tomatoes, and a few bell pepper!!!!! I did it Martha Stewart!!!!!!

I think it's WONDERFUL for Melf, SOl and Gator that they got to meet. It's so neat to be able to put a face with the post:lol:

I am glad to hear the tropical system wasn't really bad. And knowing our Texas gals are alright is a blessing. MANNNN... could we use some more rain. BUT, I would prefer just a nice soft rain, with NO dangerous stuff for like a week.

Well I am getting sleepy-headed. I just wanted to post my 2 cents worth. Glad everyone seems to be doing pretty good.

WELCOME BACK, BOB!!!!!!!! GLAD YOU ARE HOME SAFE AND SOUND - SKEETER, TOO!!!!!

I hope everyone has a good night, filled with sweet(SF) dreams......

Well, here it is almost 9 pm and I’m just now getting to the board. Man, why am I so busy????? Didn’t go to yoga tonight. My tummy has been giving me little troubles for most of the day and I just didn’t want to go an do “positions” that might cause more problems.

For those of you wondering, there has been little said about “the body.” There was a brief snippet on this morning saying a body of a blah, blah, blah and that police were not releasing any information about his cause of death. I just don’t understand why this death is not taking center stage with the news coverage. It’s not like there’s much else happening around here. One blurb on the internet too. I feel kind of bad for the guy . . . losing his life in some traumatic way that has police tight lipped and few people even know about it.

SEF---Too bad you missed the chat last night. You were definitely missed. But there’s always next time. BTW . . . the deck man was here tonight and we really liked him. He’s done two really big jobs for one of my best friends and she’s really picky. So if he can please her, we know he’s a good worker.

CATLOVER---Glad you all are okay and that Allison was gentle with you!!! Wet, but fairly gentle, right? Hey, congrats on another pound lost. You are too cool.

SOL, MELF & GATOR---Way to go with getting to meet up!!! How much fun! Can’t wait to see the pictures. Hope nobody was eating anything illegal in any of them!!! We’ll spot it if you were.

LDBLOND---Congrats on dropping two!!! That is great, but sorry you had to be sick to get there. Not fun. I sometimes have tummy problems but I don’t know what the real name for it is. I just blame it on different things I eat. Like yesterday I ate some cherries, not very many (about 20), and last night and today my stomach has been weird. So who knows??? I don’t know how long it takes to process things to be able to point a finger at the villainous substance that led me down that road to the potty.

TIGGERME---So you are a big loser too this week!!! Ha! Good for you. Two pounds is awesome!!!! Do you feel great and invincible and powerful and energetic???? I’ll bet you are on cloud nine!!! I’ll giving you a big round of applause right now.

VIV---Now you have my curiosity up about this overemotional friend and what’s going on at school. Come on girl, spill the beans!!!! Maybe I”ll catch you on IM when you’ve got five extra minutes. I may need to give you a good “talkin’ to” . . . only if you think you need one. Did you see that I left you a bunch of tiny messages in your IM window??? I think hubby told me you were on the phone. Or maybe it was one of the kids . . . they didn’t identify themselves. Hey, I don’t know enough about this program to comment on your diet. But I can say one thing . . . you are making me hungry for that cooked Kashi. Haven’t had it yet and am READY NOW!!! Oh one more thing . . . no comment from me about the r-a-i-s-i-n-s.

DEB---So thrilled to hear that your dad is on his way out of his confines!!! He must be happy as a clam! Seriously, glad all the reports were so good and that he’s well on his way to recovery. That must be a big burden from your mind. Also, it’s no big deal about the pics. Whenever they get here, they get here. I’m not putting any meaning to it. Stop beating yourself up about it.

CHERI---Good going with the loss this week. You are just really doing a number on that scale . . . really whipping it into shape!!! You keep telling it that you are the one in control here and you will only accept lower numbers. (I talk a good game, but it’s all bs.) Sorry you missed the chat. I was looking for you. It gets light so EARLY in Indiana, I’m not surprised you were sleepy last night. When I was over there for the wedding, I was waking up at 5 am because it looked like daylight out there. Maybe you could wear some of those fancy eye cover things that all the old movie stars used to sleep in. You’ve got a pair of them lying around somewhere, right?????

ICESKATE---You are so smart to think of your loss in terms of butter. I am such a visual person that I always do this. For people who’ve lost 50+ I tell them to measure in terms of those big bags of dog food. That’s a nice BIG loss!!!!!

ORANGE---I gave Paul your message and he laughed. I don’t think he fully grasps the whole wagon concept. Hmmmmm. Must be because he never truly was on it for very long. I LOVED your story about taking matters into your own hands at WW. Way to go!!!!! The scales girl needs to realize that the weigher is always RIGHT!!!! What’s one week’s payment in comparison to a dissatisfied customer!

LISA---Don’t go sliding back into your old habits. Just slide up onto this here wagon with the rest of us. BOB’s a good driver . . . she’s slowing down for me, so I know she’ll do the same for you!!!!! Thinking about Ross and camp and you looking for a letter made me giggle. It’s like you want him to have a GREAT time, but you kind of want him to be a teensy, eensy bit homesick. That’s how I would be if I had a child. I’m sure he’ll write. From the relationship you two have, he’s probably got a whole book of stuff written down. Too much going on and no time to get it all down on paper. Did he take a camera? That’s great that you and Laura are spending time together. Good for you both!!!!!

NANCE---Whew!! I think we’re all a little feisty tonight. BOB’s setting the WW people straight. You’re saying dag-nab-it!!! Oooo, there is power on this board!!! Hey, your back yard sounds absolutely wonderful. I was loving your description, then you mentioned the white twinkle lights and I just melted. How absolutely lovely!!!! One small snag, the new deck will take out part of my really huge flower bed. But that’s no big deal. I haven’t been too satisfied with it lately. I’m just afraid of how it will look when it’s done. It’s really going to be different out there. But the guy we’ll use is booked up til September, so I guess we’ll have plenty of time get used to it all. Yes, the rubber snake is probably a done deal. Thanks for the warning. Now I’ll just have to ACT surprised and scared.

SOLSHINE---That diamond earrings thing of Vince’s rates right up there as pretty darned wonderful. What a guy. I didn’t even tell Paul about it, but if I did he’d probably say, “Tell Vince to lay off . . . he’s making the rest of us look bad!!!” Good thing your teeth are still real or you probably would have dropped them at brushing time!!!! Wear them (the earrings, not your teeth) in good health.

Well, that’s it gals. If I missed anybody, congrats on the losses. I’m thrilled to pieces for all of you. You all are such super inspirations. Have a great Thursday. The weekend is almost upon us. Yippee!!!!

Take care.

I am soo happy! Scale finally went down 2#, that's 32 all together. Maybe I am on right track.

Congtrats to all the losers out there. It's one time I don't mind being called a loser!

Busy day! Went to NH, Sam's, Winn Dixie, GNC and finally a place called Ruby's where I was able to get the Agave Syrup and SF Apple Butter (a litle tart but maybe a little Agave stirred in....).
GNC did not have it but were nice enough to call a couple of other places and found Ruby's for me. Wasn't that nice of them?!

I was so lucky, it would pour while I drove, let up to go into a facility, pour while I was inside and let up for me to get to car. I must have done something right!

Hardly ever fry anything. Son is away for the night, so I made liver and onions for us girls. I don't know about anyone else, but liver has to be fried to taste good! As you may have guessed DS does not like liver.

QUILTER - How lucky to have a man with a sense of humor. It makes life so much more enjoyable! I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

CATLOVER - I visited my friend in League City in April. She had to drive to Texas City to buy her shrimp, the best place to buy it. Long way to go for a pound of shrimp I thought. We also drove out along the dike. It was such a pleasant drive.

SOLSHINE - All these girls with the romantic men. Lucky! Lucky! Sounds like they are keepers!

GATOR - How great to meet someone from the board. Did you know each other before or is it the result of cyberspace?

DEB - Thanks for the edit tip. I liked the cartoon. Glad all is well with Dad. You are a gem! I see see all the kudos everyone gives you. I'm just a newcomer and see how you deserve them.

ICESKATE - Isn't the rain nice? We need it so bad. Of couse the pool is overflowing but that's OK. I'll swim another day.

SPARKLE - I like the roommate and the lovely beach background. Some pictures may be fake but not the actual guy.

ORANGE - Hooray for you, you stood up for yourself and won. I don't always have that courage. It draws attention to the fat broad (me not you!) so I have problems w/ confrontation. I like
other people's bravery.

LISA - Remember the old adage, no news is good news. He's having so much fun, he might not have time for those left on the home front.

Think that's all my nonsense. Take care. I will have to dig up a recipe for tomorrow.

Thank you all for sharing your inspirations and lives.
PS: Someone wrote that they could not copy and paste from another system. I just tried it. I copied using toolbar prompt, but when I tired to paste it wouldn't. So I tried right mouse button, when prompt came up I clicked and presto it worked!

Hello! I've had a better day today. Trip glitches seem to be on their way towards beign worked out, I'm not nearly as tired as I was last night, and I had a good day OP.

For those of you in drowning in Texas, I sympathize with you. Since 1995 I've done Opal, Fran, and Floyd. Opal came through Auburn and my parents live in Wilmington NC (where I an now visiting) AKA the hurricane capital of the world. You think the rain is never going to end. With Fran and Floyd it wasn't the wind that did so much damage, but the flooding. After Fran and Floyd I decided to stop vacationing in NC in September!

Kim--I also sympathize with you about seeing the body. I discovered a body in the yard across the street from my house a few years ago. That image stays with you for a long time. Mine wasn't really covered on the news either. Turned out that the young man had committed suicide. How very sad.

Lisa--I can't wait to look at the website. I'm sure Ross is having so much fun that he is too busy to write!

Deb--THROW THE SCALE AWAY! Eat what you know you should eat, drink your water, get your exercise--that's all you can do. I used to tell students who were preoccupied with the grades to forget about the grades and concentrate on simply learning the material. If they did what they were supposed to--the grades would usually follow. Same goes for you. If you stay OP, exercise and drink your water--s***w the scale! There. Lecute over.

Congrats to all the losers out there (BOB--I think not gaining as much weight as you thought you had counts as a loss in afunny sort of way!). There are no reliable scales here, so I have nothing to report. I probably won't until I get back from NY. Weleave Friday and get back Tuesday. I'll try to check in tomorrow morning--other than that, I'll talk to y'all on Wednesday

Hello to all

I really don't know what it call it??? I got home from work late and took a nap that last from 6:30 to 11:30 pm. Then I had to check the board. That nap was longer than my noght sleep last night. But I am ready to go back to bed. My sleep times are all messed up now that I have the house to myself all the time.

Well....I have good WIW news. I am now at the lowest I have been in six or so years. This feels really great. I am saying a loss of four pounds. I haven't posted a loss for a while- I was really up against a wall. But things have moved this past week.

I am so glad to all that was able to post a loss.

Well, I got to get back to bed. Hope all has a great day tomorrow.

Nance--Re copying, did you highlight, or select, everything you wanted to copy? You have to do that to make “copy” work.

SEF--We met each other only because of this SB board. Even though Solshine works about 10 minutes from my house, we didn't know each other until she came to this board.

Debelli suggested I put my daily food on the board for all to peruse as I'm not losing much. Have lost about 3 lbs. in 4 weeks.
As for cheese, I have about 2 oz in the evening as my dessert.

Breakfast (I have 2 mugs of coffee first thing with a little milk)
1/2 grapefruit
either one of the legal cereals with skim milk or Scottish rough oatcakes with sugar free jam

fruit mid morning

Lunch
fish or skinless chicken with a nice big salad or
wholewheat pasta with homemade tomato sauce (all legal ingredients) or
a lentil salad or
perhaps a cheese omelet

fruit mid afternoon
a mouthful or 2 of sugar free natual peanut butter

Dinner
meat or fish or chicken (lean, skinless, etc)
lots of veges or salad

strawberries and cream or creme fraiche or sugarfree yoghurt

2 oz cheese

In the evening another mouthful of the peanut butter or almond butter. Perhaps 12 or so nuts of some sort.
What does everyone think??

Thanks for everyone's help!!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:

Got in a short 3.5 miles today, for some reason, I just wasn't in the mood and my legs felt heavy, but out I went. Saw my sister, who stopped and gave me a bag of lychee fruit, needless to say, my walk slowed a bit with that tied to my fanny pack. Anyone have an idea if those are SB LEGAL??

Had a delicious breakfast-I've grown to love HORIZON BRAND FF Yogurt. I don't usually care for the FF variety, but this is so yummy. A 3/4 cup container has only 80 cal, 12 carbs and has 25% of your daily calcium requirements. I put 1/3pkt of stevia and some lemon extract in there, it was delicious! Also had an omlete made from egg beaters with an ounce of cheese and a container of raspberries. I'm continuing to keep track of my eating, which I always feel is helpful.

GATOR, thanks for the update on the pictures to come-can't wait to see them!

CHERI, well, a big CONGRATS to you! Of course, I just HAD to go look at last weeks WIW, and you were 272.5, so that gives you a loss this week of 4.5lbs!!!! WOO HOO!!

ICESKATE, Congrats on losing another 1/4lb-another stick of butter! If you find your message doesn't go through from having too many smilies, try going back on your browser and just delete 1 or 2 and try to resubmit it. Sorry you lost you post:(

SPARKLE, thanks for sharing with us what MARTIN really looks like, even though it's a bit dark, I can see where he's much better looking than the other pic! Sorry I thought that the other pic was Martin:^:

BOB, WOO HOO! Only 8.4lbs-yes, that is a lot better than 15-20~and easy number to get back off of you quickly. Kudos for making them take those coupons-you get the Debbie Award for getting that bargin through!!!!

LISA, I'm sure ROSS is having such a good time, he hasn't had a second to write. Before you turn around, he'll be home and I'm sure he'll have lots to tell you. Don't worry about being the same this week, better than a gain, that's for sure! Tried the camp site again, it keeps telling me it can't find that web address. I was able to pull up your website without any trouble. Have you posted any new pics on there?

NANCE, another day hitting the pavement-you better be logging down all your miles:)

AMSER, your garden is sounding lovely-we use to have one, it's gone now, just have herbs growing. We once planted chick peas even!

QUILTER, I can see where it's killing you for more info on that body! You're like me, when something close to home is going on, like if I see search helicopters, I am dying to get the scoop!

SEF, COGRATS! So happy to see the scale stayed down and you lost 2lbs-that's wonderful!:) Do you mind me asking how much you had to pay for the agave nectar?? Always curious to see what it costs elsewhere. I must confess, I too like liver, though I probably have only had it 2-3 times in the past 15 or so years. Eli made some months ago, you would of never known it was liver-it was awesome!

FILLISE, I am going to use your quote for the kids forget about the grades and concentrate on simply learning the material. If they did what they were supposed to--the grades would usually follow. Hope all the travel plans do pan out easily for you-less stress. Hope you have a good trip back home!!

LAMAP, CONGRATS! What wonderful news to hear you are at your lowest in 6 years! 66lbs since Oct. is wonderful, and you should be so proud of what you've achieved since starting SB!!!

SNOOKS hard to say for certain about your menu, without amounts listed, but possibly too many fat grams. Would need to know your current weight to be able to give you more insight, if you want, you can e-mail me your info. Do you have any idea how many calories you are averaging a day?? When you eat pasta, about how much do you take to make a serving? You may be a little high on carbs.- don't worry, we'll help you figure it all out:)

Reminder that TODAY IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any recipes to share with the board that are SB LEGAL, please post them on the JUNE RECIPE BOARD-I'll try to get some up there later today.

Gotta run and get some things done-will check in with you all later sometime!

Well, I'm all packed and ready to head for NYC. I'm driving from Wilmington to Kinston to pick up the niece. Tomorrow morning we fly out of Raleigh/Durham. I have to admit to being a little nervous about being responsible for a 13 year old in NYC.

Anway I'm sure we will have a great time! Talk to you when I get back!

This has been a BUSY BOARD!!! I'm just not going to get to everyone today. I've read everyone's posts, though and share sentiment with whoever thanked everyone for coming on here and sharing it really is helpful and inspiring and FUN!

We had our company meeting and the guest speaker came up to the front of the room and turned on the overhead projector and it had the words:

OPPORTUNITY
ISNOWHERE!

Then taught on Pike's Fish Company in Seattle, WA and their company values: Have Fun, Be Here, Make Their Day, Choose Your Attitude. Did you read the above as "Opportunity is now here" or "Opportunity is nowhere"? Gets ya to thinking, don't it?

MELF will be back on the board Tuesday. She's going to have to work on Sunday and Monday after they get home. We truly had a wonderful time together. I felt like I was with some of my favorite cousins! I wish we could have spent more time together. MELF is a very sweet, interesting and generous lady and Thurman is a wonderful gentleman. He really was a dear to listen to us 3 gals go on and on about topics men really couldn't care less about! :) We did take lots of pictures like GATORGAL said and MELF has a scanner so she'll post them as soon as she can, I'm sure. The afternoon was capped off by a surprise co-work out with GATORGAL at our gym! She was booking away on the TM while John had me running from machine to machine.

DEBBIE Glad to hear your dad is much better!! And CONGRATULATIONS to Eli!! I know it makes us wives feel like WE won the award when we get to see our husbands recognized for being the great men that we know they are. I firmly believe that he's able to be great at work because he's being taken care of at home and has the support that he needs. Oh, and those helicopter dudes......if you ever see 'em in Seminole County wave to 'em - Vince might be working that day. He gets to do that about once a month.

BOB Woo Hoo!! Not as much to tackle as expected has probably already lifted a few of those pounds! You'll be taking g's away left and right. And good for you, sticking up for yourself at WW!

KIM - Did you call the police station (non-emergency number) and ask what happened? Maybe if you call and ask to speak to a Lieutenant or Captain you can find out what happened just to settle your heart. (Many of the dispatchers won't tell anyone anything). Vince is a police officer and so much goes on that the public doesn't know about. I'm sure the news people would have been all over it if there was dirt to report. The Chief and/or Sheriff, depending on who took the call, wants residents to feel safe, secure and informed so they'll tell you whatever they can, I'm sure. That's got to be unnerving to say the least. A new deck sounds fun! Paul sounds like a honey to have around. Never a dull moment in your house, huh?

NANCE - I got all tingly inside thinking of your porch with the twinkling lights and all. How nice! We've GOT to do something about our back yard, but first our goal is to make the front yard look better than a "rental trash" house. We need grass in a major way. Hope the family got that tuna out of the can or you made it home in time!

SPARKLE - Loved the Pics!! I'm sure you guys had a great time celebrating birthdays!! Was it the combined party? You're still planning something majorly special for your birthday, aren't you?

 to everyone I missed!

Where's RHOO and FROG?? Did I miss a post or something??

HAVE A GREAT DAY!! HAVE FUN!! SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITIES!!

Hey!

Just taking a little break from kitchen cleaning. Even got under the sink and went through all the cleaning supplies-major accomplishment on my part! Still a ways to go-cleaning is NOT my favorite exercise, seems once I do it, 2 teenage gremlins come home and mess it up again!

FILLISE, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time in NYC. Are you originally from Kinston?? Have a great time and let us know when you get back.

SOL, thanks for the info on the meeting with MELF, can't wait to see the pics. I love when we have the chance to meet others on the board-really, we've been quite fortunate with the meetings we've had-I'm really looking forward to LV in Oct., I'm hoping more of us get to meet up there! I didn't know hubby was a PO-I love men in uniform:o

Okay, back to the drugery of cleaning-UGH!

This is the first time that I have replied with the new system. This is fabulous!

I am WIPED OUT  from co-hosting that ladies' group. Got home at midnight last night. No great tales to tell. No one got exceptionally drunk and embarrassed themselves. However, it does amaze me that people will walk in some one's home for the very first time and ask to be shown around as soon as they come in the door. This wasn't an Open House! It was a gathering of Southern Women who shouldn't do that. It was especially annoying because it was that same woman that I have mentioned before (you know who).

I heard from Rodale today and they are going to use my story in the book as well. Pretty

Chat was great fun and MUCH improved over the old system. Missed all of you who could not attend.

WIW I am up 1.5 to 152.5 :( and am not exactly sure why. I have a few guesses, no exercise, not enough water, too much SF ice cream and carbs, and the week before TOM. Oh well, I know what to do about it, just gotta take action!

DEB - On Oprah today she had a guest from Fitness Magazine who was talking about common fitness mistakes i.e., crossing your legs at the knee, not drinking enough water, not doing monthly self-breast exams. One these mistakes that they reported was weighing yourself more than 2 times a month. They said that we should weigh mid-cycle and in the a.m. I try not to weigh more than two times a week.

So glad to hear that your DAD is feeling better. And 3 CHEERS for ELI!!!

CAT LOVER - Great that your cholesterol is down. Still trying to get my numbers down.

LISA_A_A - Hope that Ross has a great time at camp.

NANCE - PASSION? are you sure you want to mention such a word in cyberspace? :o

BOB - You and those numbers! You are cracking me up! You are also making me laugh at the countdown to the football game.

GATORGAL - those were great food tips! Oui oui on the French lessons. Sounds like your teacher is brilliant!

FILLISE - hope that you and your niece have a great time in NYC. Are you gonna wear your Tah-rah-rahs?

SEF - Missed you at the chat. My husband and I are DIY-ers too. We are just slow about getting the projects accomplished. Still trying to finish our kitchen. Mainly cosmetic stuff.

LDBLOND - I was suffering from GERD most of 2000 due to poor diet, stress, bad habits and weight gain. My doc Rx'd Protonix - cheaper and a little newer than some of the other Rx's. I was taking it every day and now I take it about once a week. Doc says that as health improves and weight lowers that I should not have to take it anymore at all. He advised against lying down after eating, wearing too tight clothes, avoiding eating acidic foods and alcohol, etc.

SOL - Can I give your husband my husband's phone number? That is so unbelievably romantic! My husband wants the benefits of romance but doesn't see that little "nice-ities" like that go a long way.

QUILTER - It is a shame that the media doesn't seem interested in the story about the deceased person that you saw, however I think it more of a sad commentary on American life. It isn't really even news anymore when someone is possibly murdered, because there are so many murders in cities today. It is nice that you are a concerned citizen. I hope the police will recognize that and provide you with information that will le you know what has happened without breaching confidentiality.

SPARKLE - I hope your roomie liked the pics. They were funny. I was admiring the background scenery of the bike pic. I want to come back to Hawaii!

Well I guess I had better go make some dinner and get ready for tomorrow. Going to Carowinds (large amusement park near Charlotte tomorrow) with a friend and a bunch of kids tomorrow
a.m.

Have a great evening everyone!

Peace,
FROG

We were posting at the same time...I too have GERD...I took AXID 150 forever then the pharmacy company we use at the hospital with our insurance changed me to the generic which I can't remember...but I'm now taking one a day 300mg opposed to twice a day of the 150mg...I've been told the same thing about loosing weight and getting rid of not only the GERD but the hiatial (sp?) hernia...

Glad the spewer didn't act up...can't you all kick her out of your group?
You all sound like that group in Savannah...the ones they profiled in "MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL"

Could be the last hockey game of the nhl season tonight. We'll be camped out in front of the tv for that one. So wanted to get this started early. Hope everybody had great days. Friday is just a whisper away.

SEF---I think you were posting last night while I was writing your email. Yes, Paul is very funny, but quiet when you first meet him, right DEB and NARDA. Sounds like you really lucked ou on the weather yesterday. The raindrops were timed perfectly.

FILLISE---Have a GREAT time in NYC. YOu and dear niece will have such a super time and have lots of envious stories to share when you get back!!! I wish I’d have had an aunt like you when I was growing up. Most of mine were ancient, wore their hair up and those shirtwaist dresses with a hankie pinned somewhere and they couldn’t even drive. But they were still wonderful women who taught me a lot. You ACTUALLY found a body. Yeeeek!!! That haed to be a million times worse than what happened to me.

LAMAP---WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL. You are at your lowest weight yet. That’s so fantastic!!!! I am doing the happy dance for you. (Who was it who always did the Happy Dance a few months back??? Haven’t heard much about it lately and we have reason to dance!!!!!) Anyways, keep up the great work. You are inspiring me and giving me the confidence to know that I too can win this battle!!! Thanks.

DEB---Your breakfast is making me hungry! Sounds delightful!!! I laughed at the thought of you with fruit strapped to your body!!! Maybe people thought you were going a long, long way and that was your nourishment. Once again, you’ve talked about another fruit that I have no concept of. Can you tell I’m NOT from a tropical climate. Apples, oranges and the occasional grapes . . . that’s about it for us. I need educated in such things. Yes, you can bet I’m the nosiet thing on two legs in this house. I just like to know what’s going on. You can imagine what Mr. Paul thinks of this character flaw of mine. (Guess I should have been a journalist!) Hey, while you’ve got your rubber gloves on, you want to just come on up here and give me a hand with my kitchen. That sure would be the neighborly thing to do. Ha!

SOL---Thanks so much for sharing what you experienced in the seminar. That is some great stuff and really, truly words for everyone to live by. I think I’ll share that with the gals at work on Monday. They’ll dig it!!! Thanks for what you said about calling the police. I think that’s a great idea. I never think to interact with them . . . not because I think they are mean or anything, but because I figure they have so many other things going on. I do know that last fall when our dog ran away (ugh!) I called a couple of the local precincts and they were great. Five minutes hadn’t passed from the time I hung up with them that we saw a police car. We were driving very slowly through a neighborhood and he pulled his car up next to ours. I started to tell him about Maddie being gone and he said he already had heard and was on the lookout for her. That made me feel so good. Very reassuring. I’ll let you know what I find out. Tomorrow is my day off. After I read the paper tomorrow, if there’s nothing, I’ll call. You are so good to take an interest in my state of “neighborhood mind.” Thanks bunches.

FROG--Another star in our midst!!! Super that you made the cut for the book. That’s so exciting . . . can’t wait to see this book!

ORANGE---Okay, I know I’m not the only one reading who wants the gorry details about the old beau!!! Come on spill it, girl. JK, but remember to stand firm. My motto . . . Once a creep, always a creep!

Well, girls, it was a depressing day at work today. We were turned down for a second grant this week. Actually the first one was just postponed, but it’s still shakey as to whether we will get it. Always hard to handle something like that when we KNOW that what we do is important. Anyways, it was a long day as everybody was kind of down about that stuff. But now I’m home and hubby is home at a decent hour and it’s time to fix dinner. I hope you all have a wonderful evening and a great day on Friday. I am spending the afternoon with my mother-in-law (that wise woman_ at the TAft Museum. I guess there’s a great exhibit there and we’re going to see it and then meet Paul for dinner. Sounds like a good time. I’m going to relax in the am and not have a huge list of to-do’s. Talk to you in the am.
Take care.
Kim (I think I saw something that I seem to remember is the sun . . . not for sure, just guessing and relying on distant memories.)

P.S. didn't take time to proofread, so I'm sure there are some doozeys in here. Be sure and let me know if they are worth a good laugh!!!

I KNOW IF I DON'T DO AS KIM ASKS, NANCE WILL BE BUZZING MY EARS UNTIL I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!!!!

I was involved with this JERK off and on for thirteen years. After I moved down here, he even followed after two years! He's a real smoother this JERK of mine...

We were PARTAY PEOPLE of the DISCO ERA ....You see, in Kentucky, parents never had to worry about drugs in those days.....WE HAD BOURBON!!!! AND PLENTY OF IT!!
We ran with the HORSEY CROWD and there was always a party to go to, a plane to jump on and a HORSE RACE TO BET ON!
We went NON STOP ....[i]SLEEP????SLEEP, YOU SAY???
I would run all night and work all day!

And the JERK you ask??? He doesn't sound so bad...WELL LET ME TELL YOU He is your tipical spoiled rich kid
whose family owned their own business so going to work or not going to work wasn't a problem for him...He influenced me to drink too much, and I paid dearly for that filthy habit later...
and to make a loooooonnnnnnnnggggggg storey short, he treated me like dookey more than not!!! BUT I LOVED HIM and just looked past it..and just kept looking past it for all those years until I just couldn't do it anymore! I came here and
even though I didn't have him to push me around, I kept drinking
too much, ended up with a DUI after a head on collision (didn't hurt anyone by the GRACE OF GOD) and lost my license for five years...When he showed up down here, he stayed for three months and it was fine for a while and then all the old stuff started again and after a day long battle, I asked him to leave my house and to never come back....he did, but the phone calls started (the "I'm drunk and need to call someone in the middle of the night kind") FINALLY after getting no reaction, he quit....
BUT HE'S BACK

I've been avoiding his calls at work by not replying to his messages that he's leaving on my voice mail. The first one on Monday said to call "if I cared too"...well I haven't cared to, but he's still calling...so far, he hasn't called here at night, but the week isn't over yet...I've decided to just let the phone ring to the
machine if it happens...

Well, it's not the whole ugly storey, but kind of in a nutshell...

Hope I didn't bore you with it...

SolShine There is a really good book out called "Fish!" this is all about what your seminar dealt with. It is, in fact, about 3 or 4 on the bast seller list right now. It is a small book, and short, easy to read. You can get through it in about 30-40 minutes. Very good, and I would recommend it! Especially for anyone who works in an office with other people, or who is involved in leadership.

Big Orange Your story was interesting, especially because I believe that you have found something else that truly satisfies the part of you that you had once hoped the old BF would fill. Of course, as most of us learn at one time or another in our life, there is no one and no thing here on earth that can fill that certain kind of void and questioning that we all have deep inside us. Sooner or later, they let us down and we are left disappointed. For me, my Dear Hubby is just the icing on the cake of life.
BTW I hope Melf posts one picture in particular that we took yesterday. I was thinking of you, BOB, when we took it and so arranged to have a special "message" in one just for you.:D Now I've gotten your curiosity up. You'll have to wait for next week!
We certainly did miss you here, and it is great to have you back posting on the board. You keep me happy. Go Big Orange (and Blue)! Only 86 days left, if you know what I mean.

FROG Nice to have you back on the board. We missed you and Melf, SolShine and I were remarking at lunch yesterday that you had not posted in at least 2 days. I had scrolled back through all the posts this week and didn't see you.

Debelli Well, did you deep 6 the scales? Did you get your sister to get them out of your house? We all took a vote while you were out walking, and it was unanimous that you should not weigh for 3 weeks.:dizzy:

I was talking to the trainer at the fitness gym where Sol and I go. He remarked that having a strong sense of portion control is crucial for success when trying to lose weight. He stressed that too often we don't really understand that we are eating more than we think we are, and that it is often very (he would say VERY!) helpful to weigh or measure our food for as long as it takes to truly know how much we are eating. For Sol and me, he would keep us to 1300 or 1200 per day for a couple of weeks and then rotate down 100 calories for the next 2 weeks and then down 100 more. Then back up 100 calories for 2 weeks and up 100 more for the next 2 weeks, etc. I had success with that before. But wasn't doing SB at the time. Now, I just will eat the SB way, but keep tabs on the caloric amount I am taking in.

Well, I'm gonna go. Have a great evening, y'all.

Evening All:wave:

Just a quickie before I hit the hay like an old fart-early, but I'm tired for some reason-AGE!

FROG, sounds like you had a good time at the dinner, and seems like Spewer sorta behaved herself. Hey, congrats on getting your story in as well-we'll be celebraties-maybe we can get them to send us to Vegas free of charge to do a book signing! Okay, what in the world does crossing your legs have to do with weight loss? Sorry I missed that show! Weighing 2 times a month-you'd have to bring on the Prozac for me! No way, 2 times a day is what I'll cut it down to doing!
I like Carowinds, okay, the kids like Carowinds-have a great time!!!

BOB, so you're playing hard to get, eh? Just let your Mom answer the phone and give him a piece of her mind. Or, you can tell him you'll sick Skeeter on him if he comes anywhere near your home! Heck, just give me his number, I'll give him my 2 cents for free!I'll give you an honorary JAP award next time I see you-you did me proud with the WW coupon!!

AMSER, you did the color and text size correct, but when you end it, you have to put a slash in front of the ending tags, or

QUILTER, you failed to mention that Paul is like a big teddy bear to SEF:) Lychees are an interesting fruit, the outside is reddish and the skin is very rough, almost like little points, inside the fruit is an opaque white, with one pit in the middle-quite good actually. There's another fruit, can't remember the name right now, looks like a big banana with green lumpy skin, have to wait til it ripens up otherwise it's awful, but once ripe, it's like a cross between a creamy banana and raspberries-will have to get the name. Awe heck, just come down and I'll take you to the Fruit and Spice park-they have all these weird things there! Sorry to hear about those grants, hopefully, they'll come through for you. Have a great time tomorrow at the museum!

GATOR, 3 weeks without a scale, no way-like I said above, I'd need the prozac!

Going to try and get at least one recipe posted now.

Will check in with you all tomorrow morning sometime.

A quickie before I hit the sack. Actually, I've already been asleep (in front of the hockey game) and now it's time to really get into the serious sleep thing.

ORANGE---Woweeeeeeee!!!! That was some story, and I can fully realize why Mr. WRONG is the absolute LAST person you'd want calling. Way to go on the avoidance thing. Some people are just too dumb to detect a cold shoulder until you are forced to whack them upside the head with it!!!! Let's hope his return ticket is dated for first thing Friday morning and you'll have a peaceful weekend. Thanks for sharing the details with us. Guess I was being nosey in this respect too. But I hope it wasn't too awful for you recounting the past relationship with him. You are on solid ground now and know that you are way more important that him and that you deserve queenly treatment!!! As official DOTW (driver of the wagon), you get my total backing on kicking his sorry *** to the curb. Go girlfriend, go!!!!!

SEF---DEB is right. Paul is a teddy bear. He wasn't quite so "teddy" when we first met. But our getting together really added to both of us (poundage wise). Also, did you know that we both have red hair??? People we meet love that we match like that. Funny, huh?

DEB---Man, there is so much I don't know about produce. You might as well be talking about stuff that grows in the Tibetan mountains. But they do sound good. Maybe we'll go to the big outdoor market on Saturday morning and see what they have there.

It's late and tonight is garbage night and I promised Paul I'd clean ou tthe fridge before he takes ou the garbage.

Hi everyone! Busy day and I am tired but had to look at the Board! I was so pleased
I found Italian sweet/hot sausage that is SF and "ose" free. No sweetners of any
kind. So we had spaghetti and sausage made w/ Classico Roasted Pepper sauce.
The sauce just needed a touch of Splenda.

I also chopped and sliced ingredients for tossed salad and put them in separate
containers. Then we can all make a salad that suits us.

This was after spending the entire morning at the NH. Where I had a good time!

I have a simple recipe for zucchini parmasean. Will post it and then to bed. After
I read a bit.

FILLISE - Sounds like you're a real hurricane expert! Glad your trip plans seem like they
are under control.

LAMAP - Wow, you have reason to feel good. Any time the numbers go down is a
reason for celebration!

GATOGAL - Does that come under the "small world" category? I think so!

SNOOKS - Where are you in England. I have a pen pal that I've had for 50 years,
she lives in Chelmsford, which is in Essex. I have another about 2 years who is in
Walton. Chesterfield, Derbyshire. I have not met either one. Just a lot of letters
between my Chelsmford friend and email with the Derbyshire one. Your menu
sounds a lot like mine. I love cheeses and nuts! I have been losing. I have heard
that women are often slow to lose in the beginning of this woe. Has anyone else
out there had a slow start?

DEB - The Shoppers Guide says all nuts w/o added sugar, honey etc. But they are
not listed specifically. I never really knew what a litchi was. The dictionary says it
is a fruit of the Chinese Litchi tree, another says a thin shelled fruit of the Litchi tree.
Now we don't say a pecan is the fruit of a pecan tree! So I wonder how to take it.
Dictionary also says fruit is any product of vegetable growth that is useful to man or
animal. Fruit is also the pulp that surrounds an inner pit. Soooo where does that
put these nuts? OOPS! Sorry I like words.

Agave was either 3.89 or 3.39, I also bought the apple butter and receipt is not
itemized. That plus TAX, Gov. Foster has to get his share!!

FROGLOVER - We used to start and keep at a project until it was done. One night
we were sitting in the living room & DH happed to look up and saw light along
the ceiling where the wall met. He said "I bet that would be easy to take down."
Before I knew it, he had a hammer and the wall came tumbling down. That started
our "enlarging the living room" project. He put new meaning into "If I Had A
HAMMER"!

BOB - Glad you weren't insulted!

QUILTER - Got your email. will answer, but not tonight. Had a very busy day and
I am pooped. Am doing the board and heading for the sack. All the work that is
done to apply for a grant and then not to get it! How very very disappointing.
Hope you had an enjoyable evening.

Everyone take care.

Hi folks! Glad to see ya'll having fun with the colors and all the other new features. I feel bad not having time to keep up, but again, just checking in. Something had to give!

SolShine, thanks for the email!

BOB, eek to the psycho ex boyfriend!

I've been doing very well lately. Like I said, I'm still having problems with the cereal, but otherwise well. We ran out of milk so that is slowing me down for a bit. Today I actually fixed myself rice and eggs instead of just going straight for a big bowl of cereal. I also have been bad about the gym. Now that it's Thursday and I haven't done anythign since the hike Sunday, I'm getting into the "danger zone" of getting out of the habit. Somebody hit me....HARD!

I have a major redesign planned for my site, first of all adding my own original graphics, which promises to be lots of work; second of all converting to style sheets, which I've FINALLY figured out. So that's going to keep me busy for a good long time. Tonight I have everything so ready to go with doing the graphics (I'm drawing them by hand) but felt so overwhelmed by the idea that I decided to take the night off and hang out with my new "friend," I figure, life is short.

Have a great Friday and hope to check in with ya'll this weekend!

Love,

Chris

My DH is sleeping, the kids are tucked in snug and snoring. So this is my chance to get a good post in to all of you. I'm really not as flakey as I seem to be appearing. The last few months have been totally strange, and it's not over! I went in to the Dr. today due to some gum irritation around the surgery site...I have an infection he's operating tomorrow to remove the infected tissue and needless to say I'm on 1000 mg of Biaxin a day. I definitly sunk back into emotional eating today, trying to find something to comfort nerves. I think the worst thing I did was have 2 slices of sour dough on my breakfast sandwich from Jack in the Box and then go to Carl's Jr. for lunch and have a chicken sandwich with a ww bun. I started craving sugar and had 2 lifesavers. Some of you might be thinking big deal, but for me it is because I don't want to slip backwards. I know I'll have to drink EnsurePlus for a couple days and then back to purees and then soft foods. I did buy some Splenda for the first time tonight and I thought I could whip it with the plain yogurt and berries I bought for smoothies. I really could use some pointers on portion size for smoothies, the last time I tried to make one it was so bad, I dumped it down the drain! Also, I didn't use a sweetner, this time I'll add a packet of Splenda and see how it goes. (Maybe I could use Deb's Tuesday Tip for a nutrional treat) It's been tough to get the 3lbs off and get back down to 157, I'm so close to the 20 lbs loss marker, I don't want to mess it up. All of you have been so busy lately, I've been making notes for a couple of days now. Here's too all of you:

MargaretA: I missed your birthday, I'm so sorry HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to you! I hope that the wedding plans are shaping up nicely. Drop a line when you get a free moment and let us know how you are.

Deb: "Comfortable Doubts" I think this helped me to understand why I was continuing to sabatoge my efforts and got back up to 160. I made excuses and allowed doubt to comfort me. The past 2 weeks have been better, especially this one. I've even started a food journal, actualy not for my woe, but to try and identify stomach triggers. It's helping me to see that I consume way too many fat calories. Couple of food questions for you: 1) Is sourdough bread really legal? The book says yes and the glycemic index says 51? 2) I would like to set goals for calorie intake, carb intake, protien intake, and fat intake. Have any ideas on where to find some guidelines for this? I started using Fitday.com, but looking for more...

I agree with the consensus - lose the scale or at least get down to weighing once a day. You've done well on moving in a positive direction, 1.5 lbs is nothing to sneeze at! Your stress tidbits were quiet interesting, thanks for taking the time to research all of that.

I've also noted that so much has gone on in your life recently, I'm sorry to hear that Michael was injured, was he doing martial arts in the house? My heart felt thoughts and prayers to your father. It sounds like his surger was a success, my wishes are for his speedy recovery. Finally, wonderful news of Eli's achievements. How's your daughter?

Catlover: Your Monday motivation really gave me a moment to meditate on my life and the directions I've taken. I wouldn't be suprised if it spoke to everyone in some manner, thanks for taking the time to post it. And your recent sunshine gif was so cute, it certainly brightened my day.

Glad to hear that you and all of other Texans weathered the storm. A lot of posts about rain, I can almost smell it. Unfortunatley, out here in the desert, we won't see rain again until late August, if were lucky and then it will be just a spritz.

Finally, I noted your down on the scale, way to go!

Snooks, Sef, and TiggerMe: Nice to meet you.

Tiggerme: Congratulations on your 2 lb loss. I noticed you referred to signing on Pacific time, where are you? Because I too am a Pacific girl and don't get online until the other half of the group is signed off for the night, maybe we can get together and chat sometime.

Sef: Down 2lbs! Way to go! I wanted to share that I haven't seen the Don't Quit poem since high school! I use to live by that theme, especially during my teenage years. Thanks for sharing it!

Karen3000: Sounds as if you had a terrible loss while I was away. Sorry to hear about your GrandDad. The services sound wonderful, with many there to celebrate his life.

Great job on the 1.5lb weight loss.

Solshine: What a wonderful gift from your DH! Your time with Melf and Gatorgal was great! Even the workout sounded fun, knowing that your friends were near by. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of you ladies.

Gatorgal: I haven't had a rumproast in ages! I can cook, but with little variety. Rumproast is one of Mom's specialities, it sounds divine, my mouth is watering! Too bad, Mom and I don't have more time to spend together, I wasn't too smart as a kid when it came to learing about cooking and sewing, now I itch to learn these things. If you have a spare moment, could you send me how to directions, what a nice treat it would be to make Mom dinner. (Boy, would she be surprised!)

Do you have any pointers are using Fitday.com more productively? I have started to enter my meals, but would like to get as much out of it as I can.

iceskatefan: Down a whole stick of butter! That's great! Comparing our weigh losses to food, really puts into perspective what we have accomplished. Someone mentioned a bag of dog food, I often have thought that when I carry my son who is over 20lbs, that I use to be carrying that much weight around all the time! Also, glad to hear you weathered the storm along with Catlover. Finally, your contribution to motivation Monday is so "right on the nose" Each time I've made changes/improvements for myself or in my life it has to be proven that it would make a difference before I even tried. Take weight loss for example: it took 3 drs over a 5-6 year period, to convince me losing weight would make me healthier (At one time I was 90 lbs over what my goal is now - OUCH!). This last bit of weight has been the easiest/hardest at the same time, as I knew I would slowly shed the weight I gained during pregnancy, but never got below 190's - 180's. When I was diagnosed with Gastris (after being sick for almost 2 years)and Dr. told me I had to make changes, it became a life choice and sure enough it's made a huge difference in how I feel. Funny, everytime I try to test whether I can have a sweet or rich treat, I find myself right back at the realization that sf is a better way for me.

Sparklescamp: A size 8! You GO GIRL! I don't see much from you on the boards, I hope all is well with you. Thanks for showing us a picture of Martin, now I can get a better picture of the guy who brought the Monster TV into your home :) I hope things are going well for you, I noticed Nancy mentioned that your dating. Good for you, I hope you have found someone you can connect with.

Lisa: While Ross is away, take time to rejuvenate, enjoy your daughter and husband and celebrate the blessing that Ross is well enough to enjoy going to camp. Also, try and recognize your accomplishments not only as a mother, but as a woman, although struggling you were able to maintain your weight - a 17 lb weight loss. That's certainly something to be proud of. Your motto says it all...I think I can, I think I can, (Now it's time for) I know I can, I know I can...

Cheri45: The best to you on celebrating your Birthday next week! Congratulations on your loss! Your going into the next year of your life with less of you than the previous year, that's something to celebrate for sure.

BOB: I think the news of only gaining 8.4lbs while quiting one of the hardest habits there is warrants an accomplishment in your court. You have to be proud to know that your efforts aren't totally frivilous, now that you are driving our wagon the weight will begin to exit your life for good!
Thank you for taking the time to share a little more about your life. I hope your ex, soon takes note that you aren't returning his calls and takes a ticket right back out of town.

As I am entering more surgery, I'm remembering a vegetable soup that you posted some time ago. Could you help me out with how make a basic soup. Honestly, I have no idea where to begin, thanks.

Kim/Quilter: Sorry to hear you lost a grant award. A few years ago I worked in a Student Assistance Program that relied almost soley on competitive grant awards to keep running. I remember the hard work it took to get those grants out, the let down when they were not awarded and the rush of energy, when they were. I'm thinking of you and your team, and hope that you are awarded the grants you need to keep moving forward.

As for my tummy, I'm going to monitor everything that goes in my mouth for a month and see if I can find the triggers I seem to be missing. It's been almost 2 years now, and I'm ready to be well again.

Finally, your tip on moods, I used it yesterday and forgot about it today. Now that I sit and write I find that it really did make a difference to remind myself "this too shall pass" and that I need to remind myself of it more often. Thanks for the inspiration.

FrogLover: Hope you are well and wanted to say that between you and Deb we are going to have "Stars" in our group. Please let us know if you get published, as I would love to sit down and read more about you and Deb.
Basically, our conditions are similar, the difference is Dr. has never mentioned that I could ever be off Prilosec. Nance, have you heard of Protonix? Thanks for sharing your GERD info.

Rosalie: Sounds like you may need to re-read this week's Monday motivations! Jump in the wagon with BOB, she's on the way to get Nance and I you know...then we can all go to Disneyland! Don't allow yourself excuses, accept that you are not meeting your goals and begin to set daily goals. Little one's seem to grow, start with something like "I will stretch for 5 minutes this morning" do it for a week and then a week later add something more, like I will stretch for 5 minutes and jog in place for 5 minutes... etc. (Now I need to print this and post it to my mirror, so I would remind myself to take my own advice. You see, exercise is my pitfall too. One week I'm totally into it, but I bore easily with getting up at 4:30 every morning).

Hope you are having a wonderful trip in the U.K. ...

Nance: I'm so proud that you are getting out bed every morning to walk around the park! You did it, you found your motivation to loose, soon you'll be at 200, then you'll be on to your next set of 0's. Also, could you please make sure to swing by when BOB comes to town and tie my butt in that wagon!
My surgery is at 7:45 tomorrow morning. Call me if you need anything at all! I'll still be here for you even if I have to write my answers on paper and have Juan read my comments to you! You did a good job of getting those darn donuts out of your office this morning...did you go for the Lysol?
Question for ya': Where is Harvest Health foods? I finally bought some Splenda tonight, but would really like to get some Agave Nectar. Also, you said you had some Smoothie recipes, could you send them my way. I really want to stay on plan as much as possible through my recovery.
As for copying and pasting from one program to another. Ctrl-C copies and Ctrl-v pastes.

Iamap: All I have to say is WOOO HOOO! What a great job on the 4lb weight loss. I'll do the happy dance for ya!

Rhroo: In the 130's - TERIFFIC! And boy can I relate to the "I'm cured" syndrome, that's how I got back up to 160 and now am slowly knocking off a lb. at a time, reminding myself I am NOT cured. I do belive that it is definitley possible to keep our weight off permantly. The mind set must be there. Rhonda you are a thin woman now and in the future, think thin! Your accomplishment is certainly something to be proud of!

amseraphim, Melf, Beachfan, Viv: Thinking of you. I hope that you are staying strong and determined!

If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. I'll see you in a few days. It's taken me 2 hours to catch up, better get some rest for tomorrow. Nite.

Morning everyone!

Just wanted to send a quick shout out to LDBLOND. So terribly sorry to hear that you need more surgery. My thoughts will be with you throughout the day. And I am so praying that this time it heals properly without infection. You may not read this until after, but just know that we all are thinking of you today and pulling for a speedy, painless recovery.

To everybody else, I'll catch you later. Have to start tackling that laundry monster before I get swallowed up by him.
Take care.

Morning all. Another rainy day in Texas. I at least thank my lucky stars I dont live in Houston. Those poor people had to deal with flooding yesterday. The news on all local channels did nothing but report on flooding. Same stuff every hour on the hour.

Im house-bound so I guess it will laundry and housecleaning. Cant wait to get out in the yard and do yard stuff. I too have a pond 2 actually that are need of cleaning. Our first pond we have 5 koi and some water lilies. The second pond is actually 3 tiers of water falls. Will try and send scan some pictures if I can find any decent ones.

Bob - welcome back. you have been missed. Sorry to hear that your ex is back. Glad your vacation went okay.

Deb - I made your sponge cake yesterday with some modifications. I didnt have any vanilla so I used almond extract. I didnt have an agave syrup so I used sugar-free maple syrup. It turned out pretty good. Served it to dh with some sf whipped cream and fresh blueberries. absolutely delicious.

To those who are comtemplating remodeling. good luck. My dh and I have several wips(works in progress) since we were married 9 years ago. I moved into his house and am trying now to make it my own. Its been frustrating but alot of fun.
He likes to do the work himself which cuts down on labor costs. Anyway good luck.

I know I dont respond to all of you and I am sorry.

Well gotta go have some breakfast then start my day.
Everyone have a good and op weekend

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING EVERYONE

Started a post and it disappeared into cyberspace!

Just got in from my walk-I'm sweating so bad, looks like I was running in the oven-it's brutal out there for being so early! I thought about going just 3.5 miles, ended up doing my full 4.5, and in my best time with a walk/jog-53:08. I see from my past postings in my Weight Commander program that back in May, on the 10th, I did 5 small jogs with a time of 58.5 minutes, by May 25, I progressed to 20 small jogs and 54:45 minutes-so I can see where I've made some progress in the last month. I won't try to do better, if I do great, but I don't feel like collapsing on the sidewalk trying to beat any times-it's just too darn tootin hot out there!

For those of you who don't know what a LYCHEE is, here is link to a site with a picture of some lychees:

http://tropiquality.com/pages/lychee.html

Okay, I can't get rid of the scale, JUST YET! I admit, I'm addicted to seeing those numbers, esp. being so close-how can I put the scale way now, what if I hit goal, even if for one day, and I don't see it. SURELY you can understand that reasoning!!!! BUT, I will promise that a week after hitting goal, I will only weigh in once a week-that's a comprimise, isn't it?

Today is FRIDAY FITNESS FACTS and even though we all know how important drinking water is for us, we can never be reminded enough to do so, so here's yet, another article about water to remind you!

How Water Helps You Lose Fat

Drinking enough water is the easiest thing you can do to lose excess fat. And best of all, it’s free!

Drinking water is not just to make your mouth feel less dry. In fact, if you wait until you’re thirsty, your body is already dehydrated because your salivary glands are the last resort for getting hydration to your cells. Water is what causes your body to function efficiently.

One of the first signs that you aren’t getting enough water is fatigue. Sometimes we satisfy the need for a burst of energy with coffee, which is the opposite of what you need. Coffee is a diuretic, which actually dehydrates you further, nurturing a self-destructive cycle.

You’ll see that drinking sporadically during the day also suppresses your appetite – your hunger for water is the cause of the craving, not the need for extra calories. Thirst signals are often confused with hunger signals. If you aren’t used to drinking much water, this could be more of a problem to you than for people who are familiar with the feeling of being thirsty. People who don’t drink water get a small amount from the food they eat, which is not nearly enough. For them, hunger and thirst feels like the same thing – so along with the tiny bit of water absorbed from food, they also get the unnecessary calories, which are stored as extra fat.

A sure sign that you’re dehydrated is the color of your urine. If you’re drinking enough water, it should be very light yellow to clear in color. Medium yellowish to nearly orange in color merits a trip to the water fountain. (Any other colors merit a trip to the doctor.)

Water helps your liver convert fat into usable energy. If you don’t drink enough water, your kidneys are overwhelmed with concentrated fluids, and they make your liver do extra work. Your liver works hard to turn your body fat into energy you use, and if it has to do the kidney’s work, then you hold onto the extra fat that would have been burned if you’d simply had enough water. And what’s worse is that instead of excreting water and waste products, you reabsorb used water to reuse. This is what causes water retention and bloating.

When you don’t get enough water, your body panics and holds on to it selfishly, as though you’re in a famine. The best way to get rid of this water retention is to drink enough of it. You’ll also feel thirsty more often, and this will start a healthy cycle of thirst leading to hydration. But you have to keep it up because if you stop drinking enough water, all the good things you’ve gained from drinking water (balanced body fluids, weight loss, decreased hunger and thirst) will reverse back to the way they were.

You need at least 8 cups of water a day. If you exercise or live in a dry climate, add 2 more cups, and if you’re overweight, drink 1 to 2 extra cups. Overweight people have higher metabolic requirements, more waste products to flush out, and it helps keep extra skin from sagging after the fat is gone.

Here’s a good water drinking schedule that will help you remember to drink until you don’t have to think about it anymore:

Get a 32 oz. plastic cup at a drug store to drink from. One big cup seems easier than lots of little ones.

Sip one big cupful in the morning as you’re getting dressed.

Have one cupful during the late morning/early afternoon.

Drink one cupful gradually in the late afternoon/early evening – the earlier you finish this one the better so you won’t have to get up during the night.

Even without changing your eating and exercise habits, increasing the amount of water you drink will cause your fat cells to shrink. Do all three consistently, and you’ll easily get to (and maintain) a healthy weight.

SEF, the sausage you found, is it a national brand? Please let us know which one it is if you think others can find it in their area. Sounds like you had a yummy dinner. I have an e-mail pal I met on the internet who lives in the UK, I got to meet her when she came to Miami 2 years ago, and they just came again this past March-it's always fun to meet people, esp from so far away! Hope you have that chance to do so with your UK friends. Lychees are really a fruit, not a nut, not sure why some refer to it as a nut. They grow down in tropical climates, though I know you can find them canned in Asian markets, I'm sure they aren't as good as fresh. I'm guessing you paid $3.39 for the agave, which is a bit high, but hey, not something you use every day-so it's worth it!

SPARKLE, thanks for checking in. Looking forward to seeing you update site when it's done!

LDBLOND, ouch, sounds like you aren't going to be eating for a few days after the gum surgery-hope all goes well and it's not too painful for you. I wouldn't worry about your eating, not now at least, I'm sure you'll be losing since you won't be able to eat too much. Do be careful with the tiny pits from the berries after the surgery-better to throw some pureed peaches or use flavorings in your yogurt than berries. I think the food journal is a great idea, you will learn a lot from it-just make sure you write EVERYTHING down, it's the little things that add up quickly. I can't lose the scale but can get down to weighing twice a day-that's not so bad, is it? Lauren is well, thanks for asking about her-trying to figure out what she's going to do this summer. To answer your questions, YES, sourdough is legal, the GI is lower for SD than WW, if you can believe it. Just look for one that has no preservatives in it, I like RUDYS if you can find it where you are. The guidelines you asked for are listed on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD, but if you want to e-mail me, I can help you figure it out as well. I just need to know how active you are.

CATLOVER, happy to hear you modified the Sponge Cake recipe to where you were able to make it. Sounds good, how was the texture and rising of the cake? I too put in almond extract-I am on the hunt for Banana extract next-thought that would taste yummy. May try it with carob as well. Hey, when you scan a pic of the koi-why not scan one of you as well HINT, HINT!

NANCE, if you get over to see Lara-PLEASE give her a big hug from all of us here on the board!!! BTW, where were you this morning, sleeping in or out hitting the pavement with Dan???

Well, I'm outta here, time to put this stinky body into the shower and get some things accomplished today.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'll check in with you all sometime later on today.

Toodles!

Hey, big Orange!
I can't start the day any other way except with 2 big mugs of strong coffee. I've never been able to get into the tea drinking habit. But now I drink Green tea. Lots of English drink tea, but more and more people, especially young people, drink coffee. There are coffee bars popping up everywhere here too.

Sef! I live in Cornwall (Redruth) in the Southwest corner of the country. I lived in Coventry right in the middle (nr Stratford ) for 30 years until last summer though.

I am American (from Knoxville, Tennessee) but came over here as a student 32 years ago and here I am still. My daughter has done the same as me but in reverse and now lives in Hawaii!!
Funny!!

To everyone!
I lost about 42 lbs 3 years ago and pretty well kept it off, but now have put on 14 and must get it off again. I think this is an eating plan I can stick to forever. So far I have lost 3 lbs. 11 to go! I'm 5' and tiny frame and have high blood pressure and a family of heart disease and high cholesterol, so must keep my weight down now.

Anyone out there from Tennessee???

IDblond--When I cook a rump roast, I just salt and pepper it, put it in a pan (usually a black cast iron skillet) and roast it in a 325 oven for about 25 min per pound. Actually, I use a meat thermometer and roast until 150 degrees, which is med. rare. You can skim off the fat in the pan drippings and make a great gravy, too.
On the fitday.com I reenter my weight any day it changes, and also enter any exercises. You can just click on those on the left side of the screen. Then, you can go to reports, also on the left side of the screen, and see a chart of how you’ve been doing, food wise, exercise wise, etc. When entering your starting weight to set everything up, be sure to type in the year with all four digits. It will reject your information if you did like I did and only put in two digits.
Also, when I first tried fitday.com I had a very slow computer processor and a 56K modem. I could hardly use the program because it took so long to load up. But I have a new ‘puter that is fast, and also have a cable modem now, so fitday is a snap for me to use now.

Catlover--Don’t you just LOVE your ponds! I love to eat breakfast out on the patio by the pond. It is so relaxing--just like taking a vacation in my own back yard.

Snooks--The Big Orange Babe (BOB) is DEFINITELY from Tennessee! Maybe not from in the being born there sense but her blood runs orange and white when she thinks about the UT Tennessee Volunteers.

Thought I'd just check in. Don't have to be on the road today until 11a when I take my gdtr to work. Then an appointment at 1p. Trying to decide what to make for supper. Think I'll have fish of some sort.

We had so much rain the pool was overflowing,! We've had the level rise before but not overflow. We still have 90% chance of rain. When they say 20% we consider that just a little higher humidity!

SPARKLE - WHACK!!!!!!!!! Was that hard enough? I can do another up the other side of the head!

IDBLOND - Ouch!! I hope that everything will be okay. Our emotions can play havoc w/ our w/ our woe. I don't think a WHACK will help you, But you don't want a "There, there, poor
girl" either do you? Maybe just an okay you did it, now get a grip!! I'll be sending good thoughts your way.

CATLOVER - Your ponds sound lovely. We have a small pool and I keep envisioning a waterfall at the end cascading into the pool. But I can't do things like that anymore. I just envision. Right now the kids are painting downstairs. It is really shaping up nicely.

DEB - Let me tell you, living in LA is not cheap!! Things were less expensive in the northeast. I know nuts are LYCHEE, but dictionary sends you to LITCHI, so I wasn't referring to some other species. Myself, if it's not listed and if there is doubt.....DON'T!

The sausage was a no-name brand you find in Winn Dixie. Of course Cajun/Creole is big around here and they always have a bin w/ that kind of sausage, most of which has some kind of sweetner. I just happened by and saw the Italian. The next time
I'm there I will look closer for some kind of identifying mark of maker. Bu the way it was pretty good The hot was HOT! Which suits me fine. I always liked my men and food HOT!

SNOOKS - Hey! A girl after my own heart, which I get to pumping every morning w/ 2 mugs of coffee! I just stitched a map of England for my Chelmsford friend and tried to put well known places on it. I bet you speak England English w/ a southern
drawl!

Take care all will see you tonight!

FROG - Good to hear from you! I'm curious too as to what how you cross your legs has to do with losing weight. I sit at my 'puter all day - I can only imagine what they would say about some of the positions I sit in! :dizzy: Hope Carowinds was a blast for you! Stars among us: Hooray! for getting your story in the book!! I can't wait to read about you two magnificent ladies!

BOB - Bless your heart!! Hope you enjoyed that bubble bath! I was ready to marry my college sweetheart when we graduated but he wasn't ready so I moved to Florida. Wouldn't ya know his MOM would call me begging me to marry her son. He actually called about a month before Vince and I were to get married. Looking back I'm SOOOOOO glad I didn't follow that scrub to Iowa. Nothing was ever his fault - not even his poor grades in school. Geez! Aren't you glad you're now smart and secure enough to recognize a jerk when he presents himself? ;) Maybe you should give all of us his phone number - we'll show him what annoying REALLY is! He'll never even THINK of calling you again. As has been evidenced recently on this board - we are family - you mess with one of us you're dealing with all of us! REGARDING MEETINGS: Us Florida gals should all try to hook-up some time. Course you and GATORGAL will have to put up with a BULLDAWG in the midst of you.

KIM - I'm sorry to hear about your grant. Hopefully the other one will come through and be even better than y'all expected. The most important jobs seem to be the least respected these days....especially teachers and police officers (not that I'm biased or anything! ) :D
Hope you enjoyed your day at the museum. 2 red heads in the same house? You've got a head start on that "people start looking like each other the longer they live together" theory. Paul sounds like a real honey bear! I love hearing about happily married couples - smacks the national average crap upside the head.

GATORGAL - I'm thinking of getting that book! The video reminded me of "In Search of Excellence" that came out a long time ago. My daddy brought it home from work one day to show me. (If you haven't seen it; it's really good, too.) Daddy and I always enjoy those HR type films/books. I immediately e-mailed him about the presentation knowing that he would enjoy it, too. Maybe I'll send him a copy of the book for Father's day.

DEBBIE - That's the coolest site! I got lost for a while looking at all the cool fruit they have. Amazing!!! I feel so sheltered. 'Course this small town girl didn't know there was any squash besides yellow crooked neck squash until I was almost 30!

SEF - I had to laugh at your "ose" free description of the sausage. It took me a minute to figure out what you meant. I have a Winn Dixie - is it just Winn Dixie brand? We love Classico sauces in our house, too. You've had a pen pal for 50 years?!?! Wow!! That's pretty darn cool. You two must have some great stories to share. I'm the epitome of slow starter regarding the weight coming off. If you call 3 lbs. in 3 months a slow start..... Hopefully that'll be changing soon. I keep "tweaking" things, so eventually, hopefully, it will start to pay off. I'm also a dictionary aficionado, (just don't tell my old English teachers who used to force us to use them).

SPARKLE - "OOP OP SIDE YOUR HEAD" - You know how much you LOVE to rollerblade! Get them blades in gear - Get some blades on that man and y'all hit the pavement (with your skates)!! Sunset walks along the beach can be good exercise, too, ya know! And remember, it doesn't have to be 3 hour exercise sessions - you can do 20-30 minutes and still reap some benefits. Will be looking for those updates on your website. Count me in on the group jealous of the gorgeous beach in the background picture of Martin!

LARA - I'm sorry to hear about your surgery. I'll be sending good thoughts your way for speedy recovery. I just started using FitDay.com also. I'm still figuring it out, but I know GATORGAL and MELF like it very much. I'm just not good at journaling, period. It will be nice to see what my real percentages and calorie counts are. Ever place I look has a different calorie value, so we'll see how this one works. I guess just picking one standard and sticking with it is what's important. Regarding the emotional eating. One thing I've started doing when I'm tempted to eat something that's not good or too much, I just remind myself of how much I want to be healthy and to be able to run around and do things with Vince when we're in our 80's and 90's. If I'm going to be able to do that I've GOT to make the right choices in my diet NOW. I want that high quality of life that's available to us. Hmmmmm, ice cream now or long walk on the beach hand in hand with Vince when I'm 85 and still able to see the sun set and the ships that look like little dots on the horizon? Hmmmmm, 3 pieces of pizza today or body surfing with my grandchildren MANY years down the road..... I don't always get it right, but this is what I'm trying to help me make the right choices. I can't help with the portion sizes. Vince is the smoothie-meister in our house and it doesn't taste right to him unless it tastes nastily healthy (wheat germ, protein shake stuff, etc.).

CATLOVER - Glad to hear you're not drowning in all the rain y'all are getting!! When it rains like that I just curl up on the sofa with a good book and sleep all day. (The book is just a prop in case someone comes in the room.)

SNOOKS - Sounds like we have the same motivation for staying faithful to SB. Sounds like you've got past success to draw from, that's awesome!! I ordered some glycemic index information from an e-mail address that MARIE posted and they said that England and Australia have started posting the glycemic index on their food labels. Is it still new or getting pretty common on the labels over there? I think that's the neatest - IF they are posting honestly and not using the deceptive practices we find over here so much.

Speaking of deceptive labels...here's my Friday Fitness Tip:

Most food lables show the % of DAILY Fat Intake based on a % of the DAILY VALUES OF A 2000 CALORIE DIET. So if it says 4% - it's not necessarily that the serving is 4% fat, but that the X number of fat grams in the serving make up 4% of a 2000 calorie day. You have to figure out the percentage on your own.

IceSkateFan, Rhoo, Nancemeister, AmSeraphim, everyone else.................

HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!!!!

TGIF everyone!!!

We actually have SUNSHINE today and decent temps. Boy, it's been 17 straight days of clouds until today, I think.

I caught the Oprah show yesterday and the comment about not crossing your legs was in relation to warding off vericose veins, not weight loss. The woman from the magazine also said that it is normal for a woman's weight to fluctuate between 3 to 6 pounds due to hormones and types of food eaten, such as something with a lot of sodium causing water retention. She had a lot of interesting info.

Lara - take good care of yourself. I'll be thinking of you. I hate dentists and such rooting around in my mouth. Cleaning is bad enough, I can't imagine what you are going through. Hope it turns out with the best possible results!

Snooks - my family and I love Tennessee (we love Wisconsin, too). Because of the more temperate climate (but warmer winters) we are seriously considering retiring in the Knoxville/Ashville area. We love the Smokies and Pigeon Forge (I know, tourists!!!) areas and have had 5 or 6 vacations down there. We're not ready to move until our son is out of school (he's almost 13) and settled into some kind of career. Since he's our only child, I don't want to live in one part of the country and have him a thousand miles away.

Well, my TOM arrived early this morning without the usual warning cramping. My last one was 6 weeks ago. I can go pretty regular for about 6 months or so and then I'll have something like this happen. I've always been like that and attribute it to the PCOS. Anyway, I'm heavy on the Aleeve today. The scale is way up too. Oh well, that explains all the chocolate cravings!!

Have a great weekend!

Karen

Afternoon Everyone:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post while time and the computer were available:)

SNOOKS, okay, I need you to explain this to me, my friend Chris lives in the UK, and from her address, I can't figure out which is the city that she lives in-can you tell me which is considered the city?

Knypersley
BIDDULPH
Stoke on Trent
Staffordshire

You are so right in stating that this is a WOE you can follow the rest of your life. With not that much to lose, you are well on your way and you'll be able to get to your goal soon.

SEF, hmmm, I 've never seen lychee spelled litchi, interesting. We have Winn Dixie down here, though I don't usually shop there much, so if you find the name of that sausage, please do post it so I can go check it out. So they have hot sausage-Eli would love that, he loves anything hot-like Habanero-not me, a little jalapeno is about all I can handle. Hmmm, maybe that's what makes him hot (only in my eyes I think). I we can say we say we have a common interest-HOT MEN!!

SOL, I didn't realize that there was more to that site than what I posted, so thanks, I checked it out as well! In fact, the fruit I mentioned to QUILTER that I could rememeber the name of yesterday is MONSTERA!!!!! THANK YOU!!!

QUILTER, check out that fruit I mentioned yesterday, SOL was nice enough to tell me there was more to the site I posted than I knew about. It doesn't describe it exactly as I mentioned, it's been a while since I had it. Here's the link:

http://tropiquality.com/pages/monstera.html

KAREN, thanks for the crossing legs explanation. Darn, do you realize that as a fat woman you can NOT cross your legs easily and then here I am, have lost weight so where I am able to cross them halfway decently, and to read I'll get more varicous veins than I already am adorned with-I repeat-DARN!

Okay, I'm outta here-I have to decide what to do with some chicken I took out of the freezer, it's just Eli & I tonight for din-din, kids go with their Dad tonight-Eli won't be home til late. He suggested we go out, but I really don't want to eat so late, so I offered to cook-he may wish he would of gotten out of work early and gone to dinner after he eats my cooking! Seriously, how bad can I screw up boneless/skinless chicken breast?:?: Will make hummus and some fresh salsa along with some steamed broccoli-bought some great fruit that we can eat for dessert:)

I'll try to check in with you all later, otherwise, tomorrow after garage sales. Hope the weather holds out for the morning, it's looking nasty this evening out there.

Toodles!

Need something to get your blood boiling today? Check out this website of the UK "Sugar Bureau" sugar pushers:

SUGAR & HEALTH (http://www.sugar-bureau.co.uk/HEALTH/HEALTH.htm)

There is all this pseudo-scientific information about why people "need" sugar and that sucrose is good for you because refined starches and potatoes also have a high-GI.

Okay, Eli must have mental telepathy of some kind. He just called and said he was coming home early and we were going out for dinner. When I told him I was making dinner, he said, "I'll stay at work!" Well, seems we just may be going out for dinner-and I'm NOT hungry! Actually, feeling a little barfy, which is A-OK with me because that usually means a loss the next day!:spin:

SPARKLE, I've seen that site before-funny how it's by sugar supporters!!!

Not usually around this time of night. Thought I would check in to see what y'all are up to.

More rain. It just poured! Looked out front and we had a river! Couldn't see the curb of the median. It has since gone down. Presumably we are pretty safe here as we live at the altitude of 22 whole feet! Where I come from we'd consider that a mole hill!

Finally decided to make Mahi Mahi for supper. I really like that fish. I put it in a glass oblong dish, put on some McCormick's Season All, lemon juice, dill. Zapped it for 15 min. (It was partially frozen). DELICIOUS. Sometimes simple is better.
Made us all chef's salads, family had french fries, I had a Nature's Own WW roll.

Ran errands, had appt w/ insurance agent, did wash, made supper. Now ready to put my feet up

SOLSHINE - The sausage, does not have a brand name. Here WD has freezer bins along the meat display. The Cajun sausage is usually in one of those bins. I will make a promise to look closer for an identifying maker. It's just in a plain wrapper w/
sticker, telling name, ingredients and price.

Yep! 50 years! I do have sticktoitiveness with some things!

I used to drive the kids nuts! Don't know a word? Look it up, don't ask me!!

I love word games and trivia. Ask me any idiotic thing and I can give you an answer! Ask me to buy some milk on the way home from church.................well that's another matter. I usually remember as I pull into the driveway!!

KAREN3000 - We could use some sumshine! We're never satisfied, we were in drought and wanted rain. Now that we have rain we are grumbling! Of course it did come all at
once. DS drained the pool to normal. Rain this aftenoon and it's ready to overflow again!

Wait til you're my age. Don't have to worry about TOM, but on hormone therapy I still have that weight gain and sugar/salt cravings each month.

DEB - Put on a pair of light support pantyhose, and cross those legs any ole time. Those nasty veins won't show then. I don't know what I would do w/o Just My Size!

I think your supper plans sound great. I think the lady protests too much! She is a closet cooker!

QUILTER - I will write later this evening. You mentioned new deck will take out your flower bed. But when deck is finished you can put around potted flower arrangements. Presto! Have your cake and eat it too! Errrr, let me rephrase that! Have your flowers to still enjoy!

Take care every one.

Evening all. Had a nice day. Got four loads of laundry done this morning and then spent the afternoon with my MIL. Did the exhibit at the museum . . . it was great, hardly anybody there. Then we went to the main branch of the library. She’d never been and I love turning people onto the library. It’s big and really great. Then we met Paul at his building and walked a couple of blocks to a nice little bar/restaurant for dinner. Home before dark . . . just the way I like it.

Did a 35 minute walk/run on the TM this morning. This is the first day all week I’ve felt like exercising (and you know I’m really into it now). Finally, the ick has gone away. Sometimes, I think I get sicker at mid month than I do at the actual TOM.

Thanks for all the kind words about where I work. We’ll be okay, but it does get disappointing and worrisome. We will press on and fight the good fight and all that stuff. It will be okay. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason and you just have to find out what that is.

DEB---Thanks for the link to the lychee fruit. Now I’ll know what to buy! It is a GREAT site. I spent a lot of time roaming around there today. I added it to my favorites list. Muchos gracias! Also, wanted to say that I so get what you are saying about weighing everyday. If I was as close as you are, I’d be carrying the thing with me whereever I go. I like the promise you made. Made me grin . . . you are sooooo bad! DEB, where did you get that attached cartoon??? That was hilarious. I had to show that one to Paul. I loved the progression of the boobs.

SNOOKS---You are so smart to catch the weight gain before getting so far out of control. Wish I had done that many times in my life. Congrats on the three down. Hey, I visited England about 10 or so years ago and LOVED it. I had friends from American who were over there temporarily (3 years) so I went to visit. They didn’t have a lot of extra cash, so I spent most of my days on wonderful trips here and there. You live where everyone goes for vacation, right???? Must be beautiful!!! I think my favorite city was Bath. Just so lovely and all the history. That was one trip that my one friend got to take with me. We spent the night there and had so much fun. Also like the northern part (around York) as well. While in the York area, I found out that the town of Thirsk is where the author James Herriott (noth is real name) was from. And that he frequently came in to meet with fans. So I got to go and meet him and get his autograph. I love those books, and was so thrilled to be able to meet the real man who came up with all those delightful stories. While there I also went to Althorpe (Diana’s family home). Of course, it wasn’t nearly as popular then as it is now. I went with my friend and we walked around the grounds. We met her father and he signed some wine bottles for me. He was funny and talked to us a good long time. Now that both those men are passed, I am so thankful that I went when I did and have memories of both. I’d go back in a second if I could. I’m thinking of ROSALIE right now and hoping she’s having fun.

SOL---Well, I took your advice and called the police district we live in. She gave me the criminal investigations number. That guy told me that there was nothing back from the coroner, and he couldn’t tell me anything. He was very nice, but said nothing to allay my fears. However, I am still glad I called. I think that we law-abiding folk forget that we too can have contact with law enforcement . . . of the positive kind. So I will give it a week and maybe try again. I do know a reporter for one of the local stations and I’m thinking about having her let me know when she hears anything. She’ll probably hear something sooner than me anyways. Thanks for the advice. I needed it.

BOB---What about good old Johnson City????? I think that’s a right nice place to park your sneakers!!!! Of course, it’s not ORANGE country, but pretty darn close.

Well, friends, I’m ready to call it a night. Got some good books at the library and want to peruse before I conk out. Have a great weekend.
Take care.

Frog-Congratulations on being in the book. That is so cool. Are you going to submit the picture at the beach with the hair under your arms as the after? Curious minds want to know!

Snooks-I think one of my post got lost in cyberspace...it said "WELCOME". My heritage in my paternal side is English.
I love this book from the library called "Time for Tea" (although I'm with you on the coffee!) and it's a book about 13 english woman and their traditions around having their tea. They are all
from different backgrounds, and there are some great recipes in there which I'm sure are all illegal! Looking forward to getting to know you. Have you posted to the BIO board yet?

 Hi everybody

I lurked most of the day yesterday and today. The rain has come in torrents, and we keep losing our electricity :(
We needed the rain, but this is too much... I just checked my email, and read the posts...was afraid to take the time to post myself. We seem to be in a lull, so I thought I'd jump in and say hello.

BOB: You and I must be on the same wave length. I just got an email to join the WW online program. I guess it's a combination of the weekly meetings and the At Home program. I registered today. I just feel that I need to keep track of my SB WOE with some control. This should help.

SEF: You guys seem to be getting a lot of rain, too. I can't believe your pool has overflowed. We had a tree that was uprooted, and fell on top of a car and blocked the street! The concrete was totally broken up from the tree-it must be sitting about a foot and half up off the ground. It's the strangest sight. I'd love to take a picture to show all of you, but the rain hasn't stopped long enough for me to get my camera out.

Sunday I leave for Lafayette for a week-long institute: Louisiana Voices. It's a study of the different cultures in Louisiana designed for teachers of 4th and 8th graders (that's the grades that teach LA history here). Lunch is provided...and we will be in class all day, and there are planned activities at night. We had "homework" before we got there and one of the "planned" activities at night is to prepare a presentation. We even have "field work" which requires us to interview people in the area. Needless to say, I really am going to have a hard time staying OP. I won't even be able to weigh on Wednesday. I do think that I have set my laptop up to be able to get online, but I don't know how much time I will actually have.

I have been busy trying to get ready...but the rain has really put a damper (literally speaking) on my preparations. Every time I think it's safe to venture our, it starts to rain. I am hoping to get to the store tomorrow to stock on things that I can bring to help me throughout the week. I think there is a microwave and fridge in the room (Oh, I forgot to explain, that I am rooming with a teacher that I have only spoken with in the phone...never met in person) I sure hope that I don't snore:o

I will be thinking of all of you...I hope that after next week, I can really slow down. I keep saying that, I know, but it seems that things keep sneaking up on me, without any rest in between!!!

It's a good thing that I do not have any kids...I guess if I did, though, I would have learned how to say, NO before now.

You are all such:angel: 's Thanks for being here. I will try to post to all of you soon...I really will!

Lisa: I visited you site. I almost signed your guestbook, but after reading some of the posts, I felt it was too private...What a lovely thing for Ross. You truly are a Mom Of The Year

To Sparkle, Melf, Solshine, IDblond, Nance, Frog, Snooks, Catlover, and to all who I missed, I hope you are having a Great weekend. I will try to check in tomorrow.

I'm off to"sleepy-sleepy"

I am just adding that I re-read this for mistakes, and hope you all will excuse this teacher, who misses the "spell-check", and who is too tired to go back and correct them. Thanks for understanding...

I don't have any good ones, but Martin is a real photo nut so I browsed through his pics to see what I could come up with for ya'll. Enjoy! It's almost 1 am, I'm going to bed.

These are from a hike in Haiku Valley called the Stairway to Heaven. It's an old coast guard maintenence stairway that has 1400 steps. I've climbed it three times.

A very wet good? morning to yall. I got up with dh at 4:30 this morning to find a lake in our front yard. Our street is completely under water. Poor dear had to go to work this morning in it. How is everyone else fairing with these rain storms?

Sparkle- great pics.

Deb - the cake came out semi-moist and texture was that of what youd expect baking with wheat flour would be. I might try using a little wheat gluten next time. Other than that the recipe will be a keeper. Ive been getting a few recipes off the Sweetsense board and modifying them also.

BOB- Im a UT orange and white fan also, but its for the University of Texas Longhorns.

Snooks - welcome aboard if I havent welcomed you yet.

Guess I will go for now. Will try and get on later and reply to more of you.

Happy Saturday Morning to Everyone!!!!!

Hope you all are having sunny skies like us. My thoughts are with all those in TX and LA who are suffering from Allison. I just don’t know how people who get flooded out manage to keep on going. What a mess!!!

Got up this morning and hit the treadmill. Did just over 37 minutes with two good runs and one partial run. That third one was just too much to handle. Now I’m sweating like a pig and need to get cleaned up. Paul has gone to help a friend with a computer issue . . . what’s new there???? Hopefully, it won’t be an all day thing. I resent when people ask him to give up part of his days off. I know that’s selfish of me, but that’s the way I feel. (Actually, it depends on the person, too.)

DEB---Thanks for the article on WATER. I really needed to read that. I think I will need to print it and keep it at arm’s length. Gulp, gulp, gulp!!! Let’s pee away those pounds!!!! Hey, I also forgot to tell you how excited I am for you that you are adding the jogs to your morning walk. That’s so great. And I love how you have already seen an improvement in your time. That’s so great. What do you mean exactly by 20 jogs. Do you walk then jog for 5 seconds or walk and then jog for 20 seconds or what??? Just wondering. As always, I am eagerly looking for a good idea to “borrow” and use in my own workout.

SEF---You sound like a great cook. I’ll bet your family is so happy to have you there relieve them of the cooking duties. Your fish dish made my mouth water. Mmmmmm. Yes, I’m already strategizing about the “new look” of the back yard. Truthfully, I’ve been wanting to re-do that whole bed. I’ve never like the look of it. I put in a butterfly bush a few years ago not realizing how strong and big they were. It’s in the wrong place and needs to be changed. So that’s all going to be revamped. Plus I have a monstrous lavendar plant that needs splitting. I love it!!! But it’s going to have to go too. Hope I don’t lose it in the move.

NANCE---You really did blow it. Hey, we all cave at one point or another. You just saved all your “caving” for one big day. Remember . . . this too shall pass. Since you were so honest, I’ve been feeling so guilty. Now it’s time for my true confession. Last night at dinner I chose the beer-batter fish sandwich!!!!! What was I thinking?????? It really tasted great, but I know I should have apted for the chicken breast or something else with no batter or breading. I did eat the white bun that it came on too. Oh gosh, I’m feeling like a heel that I didn’t come straight home and type in my failure of a supper!!! Anyways, one thing to say in my defense . . . I chose the vegetalbe medley over the barbecued french fries. So in my weakness, I was a tiny bit strong. So there you have it!!! I need a life preserver too!!! Do you think the wagon riders have enough strength to hoist us both up at the same time????? BTW . . . I love that book you talked to Snooks about. I’m going to look for it at the library. Sounds right up my alley. One of my favorite memories of London was having tea at Fortnum and Mason’s tea room. Yummy. Thak god that was before SB.

CAT---You take care with all that water rising around you!!! Has it stopped raining yet??? I’ll be thinking of you and hoping you all feel relief VERY VERY quickly.

Well, girls, that’s about it for me. I’ve got chores to do. Have a great Saturday.
Take care.

Good Saturday Afternoon Everyone:wave:

Just got a minute to sit down before I go take a much needed nap. Besides being up early to go to garage sale, which there really wasn't much out there to buy (only decent purchase was a gold Whitting and Davis purse for $1), I didn't sleep well at all last night.

Yesterday I posted I felt a little sick, barfy-anyhow when Eli came home I didn't even feel like going out, so we ended up staying home and made him his salsa, opened a can of baba ghanoush (really good stuff) and he made the chicken. I didn't eat anything but a little bit of chicken which sorta put me over the top-I had such bad acid, and I NEVER get anything like that. Anyhow, I climbed into bed, got up a couple times and made faces at the toilet and then passed out until about 11:30pm, up until 1pm I was making quite a few faces at the toilet, thank goodness my aim in the dark is good! Woke up feeling just fine-don't know what to attribute this latest episode to, but it's come to a point that I'm use to this happening:rolleyes:

Sharon is coming down for the evening later, otherwise, nothing much else is going on here-such excitement in my life!

BOB, trust me, I can screw anything up! Oh, just wait til you come visit one day, Eli can't wait to cook up some of his specialties for you!!! You would of been right about Outback last night, that's where the BIG BOY wanted to go, but I just wasn't up to it:( He so wanted a Bloomin Onion-oh well, next time!

SEF, so why aren't we seeing you on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire or the Weakest Link? With that kind of knowledge you can make big bucks! Trust me, no matter what our age or hormon level, we all get those cravings some point of the month, so it seems:) Pantyhose, yuck, I hate wearing those, only if I so desperately have to, and it's rare when I have to get dressed up. I think my hatred of them comes from being so heavy and not being able to find ones that fit, so when I did put a pair on, they cut into my waist so bad, and were so tight in my thighs that I got a burn from them, that I just grew to hate wearing them. I'll take the veins before wearing those when I don't have to, that's for sure:)

QUILTER, glad you liked the site-did you see the Monstera-you'd probably love it, if you can find it. Honestly, don't remember where the cartoon came from, cute isn't it!?! Yes, those sagging boobs remind me of my own, only problem is, it's on the old woman and mine are on me!!! Okay, my wacky wave of walk/jogs. I start out just walking and then I'll start to jog from say one telephone pole to another, or some other spot-basically, not until I feel like I'll faint, but when my legs start feeling heavy and start to give a little burn-I measured some of them, most are about 1/10 of a mile, a few shorter and a few longer-then when I stop I just continue walking as quickly as I'm able-nothing exciting, but it does get that ticker rate up!

NANCE, whenever you have a post go through and want to add to it, just hit the blue tag at the top of the inside of your post and continue writing away!! Umm, what the heck happened to you-feel left out of that wagon trip? Do I have to come over there and smack some sense into your head-where's Dan, I want to talk to him! Though I had to laugh about your jalapeno poppers filled with dream cheese as you put it:lol: Yes, the yogurt is HORIZON ORGANIC, it's a 3/4cup serving, FF, and I just add a little stevia and some lemon extract-very good! Hope to catch you on line later!!

ICESKATE, hope you have a nice time at this Louisiana Voices-hope they have foods available so you can stay OP. If you can take a cooler with you, you can stay OP easily, yogurt, cereal with powdered milk (just add water), there's lots of things you can take that will help-and of course, if there's a fridge and nuker, then you'd totally be set! Take fruits and cheeses and some WW bread with you-you may just find that you come back with a loss!!!! Have a good time!!

SPARKLE, thanks for sharing all those pics-I love looking at pictures-can't believe how well you matched with that one gal in costume! Martin looks like he has a great sense of humor. How was his bday? Who's Rebecca, I don't remember you ever mentioning her.

CATLOVER, sorry to hear about your street flooding-hope it subsides quickly-it's dry as a bone down here in SFLA! Thanks for the cake info. If you like cookies, do try the MADELBROT recipe (you may have to search in the SB files for it), it's REALLY good. Also, the Crustless Spinach Quiche is great!

Okay, time to go make like an elder cocker (old person), and go take a siesta for a little while. I'll try to check in with you all later tonight.

Toodles

Hello from the land of the lost! LOL I am VERY sorry i have neglected you all this week.. I have been lurking -per usual and saw you Weigh in Wends. Congrats to you all you ROCK! I myself am not a loser this week i am up but StILL under 140 I never want to see a 4 in that spot again! LOL anyway. I did excersise all week but not Thurdsay-unless chasing after the 5th grade class at field day counts! I was on my feet all day! I am sick of working its really getting me down now that summer is here! No lay off in sight! :( I just got home from the Rely For Life this is the 8th year that it is held in my city. Its a 24 hr walk for cancer. The total when i left was over $400,000. Still they have hours left. It was televised on t.v and hubby said he saw me every 4 minutes!!!!!! sooooo i did 3 and 3/4 of a mile at that rate!!! I had a blast. My kids want to be involved next year. I loved when they announced NO SMOKING and if you are caught lit or unlit your out!!!! The whole thing is awsome. My sister in law it going to do the Avon Breast Cancer walk from a town where i grew up Leominster to Boston I would love to do it too but couldn't do the training. Hmmmm maybe a challange?? you have to raise $1,900 to even get involved that would be hard too. Anyway this is a horrible disease and i hope i will live to see it cured and thank god that it has not touched my life as much as others (is that bad?) I really feel for the people who it has! gotta go to my oldest sons game!!! wooo hooo its great weather!!!! sorry can't post to you all your in my thoughts always!!!

Hi Girls!

I finally got one computer working in the house...I've been so frustrated with it...the one thing I love to do, and haven't had good luck with posting to my SB buds!

Sparkle
Loved the pictures. I've been to Kauai, that's my only claim to fame. It was absolutely wonderful. I went snorkling as much as possible. Nice memories from that trip. Would love to go their with my husband sometime. Maybe for a major anniversary.
Is your roomate someone you are romantically interested in?
I'm out of the loop, since I'm still newbie-ish.

Debs
How are you? Hope that all those kooties are out of you! I always feel better when I hurl, seems to settle my stomach getting the ickys out. Glad you're feeling on the mend. Is the Horizon Yogurt the one with the Holstien cartton cow picture on it? If so, I think they make milk too? (BOB, try to refrain from saying "DUH...of course cows make milk":D I think I will run up to the health food store so I can do some legal baking this weekend. I was looking a some lemon recipes, trying to figure out if they could be converted. Mom, me, Nadia and her friend are going to see Moulon Rouge (sp?) Hope it's good. The costumes and colors look fantastic. Deb...FYI dan is at drill, he is in the military reserves, and he has no idea that I was evil yesterday, so let's just keep it that way!

Quilter
You'll be happy to know I've eaten OP today! Nothing evil at all!
I don't know what got into me yesterday! I went to the store and loaded up on the veggies and fruit and bought SB snacks so I would be good! I'm not perfect everyday, but yesterday was
over the top! Did you have any luck finding the "Time for Tea" book. It's worth ordering in my opinion if you can't find it at the book store! I love all thing English. SO when you went there, so you eat one of those scones with DEVONSHIRE CREAM......curious minds want to know. :o

BOB-Are you still being stalked the the ex-beau???? He didn't find you and catch you off guard while you were gettng in your car or anything did he??? WHERE ARE YOU?

NANCE Glad to see that you've still got a connection to the CYBER WORLD...
Deb got me to try the "lactose free" no fat milk...It's a little pricey, but I finally bit the bullet and bought some...it's good

There are some upcoming birthday's this week and I don't want to miss any of them so.... Happy Birthday Cheri and Frog!

Quilter: Thank you for your well wishes. With such an agresssive surgery and antibiotics, the Dr. and myself are hoping the infection will clear up. He said today that the infection is only in the tissue, not the bone graph, but he will be watching me carefully. I just took some Tylenol, but the pain is very minimal and due to some smart decision of my doctor he made some changes in my pre-op meds and we finally pinpointed the drug that makes me so out of it. I feel so much better than I have in my previous surgeries. Thanks again for your prayers.

Catlover: Glad to hear you are weathering the rains. Your ponds sound wonderful. DH and I really would like to build a waterfall in the back corner, but in due time.

Debelli: Great water article, I thought 8-10 cups were enough, but being that I'm a desert rat, looks like I should up it by 2 more.
I'm so glad to hear that SD is totally legal! YUM! Nance found some WW SD at Trader Joes' we will have to give it a try.

Snooks: Sounds like your on the way to dumping the last 11 lbs. The healthy way of eating that low glycemic offers and the support from this group are exactly what I need to stay on plan and get healthy. I hope you find it to be the same for yourself.

Gatorgal: Thanks so much for the cooking tips. When I can chew better I'm going to go buy one and try it! fitday.com certainly has a lot to offer, I'll keep with it. Thanks for the tips.

Sef: Sometimes a whack is exactly what I need. Your point was well taken and as soon as I'm eating chewable foods again, I'll get right back on track. I'm trying to stay close now, only off with the Ensure and the ice cream I just had. Funny, I don't like regular ice cream nearly as much now or maybe it's the meds...either way, I'm trying to get the DH to buy me some SF for later. I'm going to have ww mac n' cheese tonight with zuccini. Soft, op, and yummy!

Solshine: I made up a few thoughts for myself to add to yours: I want to be healthy and play with my children, not just watch them and I certainly would love a walk on the beach with my DH at age 85! Thanks for the tips, I will use these postive thoughts to help me make better choices.

Karen3000: Fortunatly I'm a sleep for the procedures that I've been going thru. I think they actually have BIG CHICKEN written on my chart. I had a bad experience at age 6 with a dentist and the fear has stuck with me through the years. Actually the surgeon who is working on me know has more trust than I've been able to give any dentist in years.

Nancy: I've been using the basic Notepad to write my posts, then I copy and paste. This has kept me from losing posts several times. Yes I'm talking. I'll call you in a little while as I see I need to borrow BOB's lasso and tie you back into the wagon!! By the way, go back and re-read Deb's water article and this time take notes :)

iceskatefan: Your trip sounds really interesting. As for staying on plan, just try to make the best choices out of what's provided.

Finally! A lazy Saturday afternoon! I’m going to sorta catch up and then get right to work on my web page! Jumping on the bandwagon with the colors and stuff. BTW, these features (font size and color) were always available with VB code, the new version just made it easier. Fun huh?

Thank you to everyone for posting lots of helpful information and articles!

Happy Birthday to all the other June birthday gals! Thank you Debbie for asking about my plans. Martin’s bday is on the 6th and mine is on the 25th, so we are throwing a joint bday bbq on Waimanalo Beach on June 16th, next Saturday. Plus I will probably go out on my actual birthday, and the normal office lunch. Martin gave me the money for a prescription mask so that I can go snorkeling and maybe even scuba diving soon! I hope! I bought him a dive knife and waterproof dive light for scuba diving today. I guess we really are like an old married couple now – not only do we spend all our time together and never have _____, but we are blatantly asking the other what he/she wants for birthdays. It’s a very weird roommate relationship.

Nancy
Thanks for asking about my dating adventures. (Now that I’m actually having some.) I have been reluctant to say much about it, both for the sake of my privacy, and also because I don’t want to jinx things! But things seem to be going very well. We have been out on 4 dates now and are getting over the initial jitters. We really clicked from the start and are having a good time. By the way, he is 29 years old, 6’2”, Dominican, raised in NY City, and is a network administrator for a major phone network here in Hawaii.

One thing I have painfully learned from my previous relationships is to take it one day at a time, relax, and have a good time, instead of trying to force things to progress before they are ready. I still have a very hard time relaxing, but that’s what I’m trying to do.

Don’t let one day of eating the wrong foods get you down. Think of the big picture! I was just doing some journal work going through my old diaries (a very frightening project) and I was amazed at how often (over and over again, years upon years) I would go on a diet and then binge terribly after eating only one thing I wasn’t supposed to! I know you wouldn’t do that, but sometimes when you’re in the middle of a day that’s not working out right, you lose perspective.

To answer your question, I’m pretty out of the loop these days too! See the story below (to Debbie) about how I met Martin and Rebecca. Since then, we have been living and working together so we spend virtually 24 hours a day together, but no, we are not romantically involved. We are both single and unattached but there are a variety of reasons why a relationship wouldn’t work out.

I am currently dating someone else, as you know, but it’s too early to tell if that will be serious. Martin has had several things going on but nothing has panned out so far.

Karen
I’m sorry to hear about your Dad (? I read all your back posts recently and can’t find for sure where it’s your Dad, maybe I’m in too much of a hurry.) But it sounds like the funeral was a celebration of his life as well as being a sad occasion, and I’m glad it was beautiful.

SolShine
Hey woman!!! Isn’t it great when a dress fits? You’ll do fine at the reunion, remember to relax and enjoy the moment! My 10 year high school reunion (I could never imagine that I would get this old ;) ) came around this year but I don’t really have any reason to go.

So, you, GatorGal, and somebody else, whom I can’t remember right now, (sorry, it’s been a while since I caught up) met for lunch huh? I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!! But glad you had fun. ;)

I do really like rollerblading, I was thinking even that I’m feeling confident enough to buy myself a pair of softboots (scary!) and maybe even start rollerblading on the street. More than one street, I should say. I think that I still haven’t gotten past the idea, with exercise, that I have to stick to it perfectly, and be killing myself, or nothing at all.

My friend (she is the type who never calls first, but she called me that’s cool) called me to go bike riding around Hawaii Kai tomorrow morning. That should be fun and different. I finally got the front wheel fixed on my bike after the wreck. Turned out to be a broken spoke. SO much better now!!!!

Rhonda
Wow, the 130’s. That’s unreal! You are such a success story, very inspiring.

Debbie
Good luck and best wishes about your Dad.

About the size 8 dress, well that was a fluke, I’m still a size 10/12, but it was a huge ego boost! ;) Now for somewhere to wear it.....

Rebecca is our other best friend. To make a long story less long, I met Rebecca when she was a mere puppy (20) a year and a half ago (in OA!) and she introduced me to Martin online, her business partner (they have a web design business and forums together) whom she had never met. Martin was talking out his ___ about someday coming to Hawaii. He wasn’t gonna really do it though. So I (being that when I get an idea in my head I MAKE it happen) took it upon myself to bring him here. And that’s just what I did. In a few short months I set him up with a job at my company and installed him on the couch in my apartment. He subsequently got his OWN bedroom. Then Rebecca (the witch) deserted us and went back to college in LA, where she is now.

Susan
Good luck with the trip to NY. I’m sure everything will be okay despite the snags.

Lara
Looks like you and I are still hanging in there with the weight at about the same. It seems like this barrier (150, I’m at around 155 now) is really, really difficult for me to break though.

LOL about the guy who brought home the monster TV!!!! Actually, we are coming to peace with the TV. Last night, I was so annoyed when that show with the woman with the hideous, screechy voice, All in the Family, I think, came on after midnight when I was trying to do some journal work on the computer. But those incidents are becoming fewer and I’m complaining less as I become more at peace with myself (if that makes any sense). So we watch movies, the Simpson, Star Trek Voyager (I now have a strange fascination with Seven of Nine), and professional boxing together regularly.

Last night I watched my first heavyweight fight, between Lewis and Davis. It was pretty unreal to watch those huge guys going at each other, almost frightening.

Since I haven’t watched TV regularly in over five years, everything is a new adventure. Weird. STILL, I’m really glad he’s taking a nap and the TV is off so I can concentrate on this post!!!!

Sef
Although I haven’t been around much since you began posting, you are a welcome contribution to this community. So great that you joined us!

Laurie
Glad to see you making progress again with weight. Plateaus can be SO frustrating!

Froggie
That’s great that your story will be included as well as Debbie’s. You gals who have had success with this way of eating are so inspiring to me!

BOB
I’ve read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and seen the movie. Both were slow, but okay. It’s supposed to be based on a true story (?)

Some of my favorite novels are based in the South, including Gone With the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, Fried Green Tomatoes, Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man, and Interview with the Vampire (I don’t like the rest of Anne Rice’s novels).

Wow was that the end?

So, I have mentioned in the past that I’m on my way into sales at my company but have been mentally stalled for some months. Well, today was my FIRST employee presentation by myself!!!! It was quite exciting. Nothing too hard, but getting my feet wet was difficult. So I drove out to the North Shore (an hour or so drive from Honolulu) and talked to a roofing company about setting up a pension plan. They want a 401(k) plan too. They are humble guys and it was nothing high-pressure. I think I did a good job but it was hard to tell if they really understood what I said. Martin was kind enough to come along with me and actually attend the meeting. Very good for moral support! Overall, it was a success. And as of June 6, I have my very own REAL business cards for the first time in my life and I was so proud to be able to pass them out!!!!

I feel like now that I’ve gotten through this, I feel a lot more confident setting up my leads and pursuing them. The future is full of promise and the only thing holding me back is my own ideas about my limitations!

After that we drove around the North Shore, but it was too cloudy to go to the beach.

Have a wonderful weekend folks and remember the wise words of Chris....

SAVE AS YOU GO!!!! ;)

Hugs,

Chris

I have put together some information about refined sugar in a thread on my other forum. Some of you know this information already, but if you are new or want to reference somebody to info about refined sugar, you may find this helpful.

Knowledge is power: REFINED SUGAR (http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52332&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)

Now, off to work on my website. Or maybe take a nap.

Evening All!

I've been allotted 10 minutes on the computer from Michael, he's been on it since late afternoon doing some chemistry final stuff all day long-kid is STILL in his jammies! So, I'll make this next 10 minutes count!

RHROO, you checked in!!! Glad to hear all is well. I know how you feel about never wanting to see the 4 in the 140's again, it's what I am hoping to say about the 130's in a few months. That's great you did the walk-what a great cause to do it for, and to boot, you got in some exercise that benifited you!

NANCE, you had me laughing! Yes, I believe I barfed out those demons. Yes, that's the yogurt, it's really unbeliavble how good the FF one tastes. I had to go buy some more today, sadly, it was no longer on sale, but what the heck, I'm worth it! So what's on the baking agenda?? Hope you have better control than I do when it comes to SB legal yummies! Michael saw Moulin Rouge last week, said it was so-so, wasn't crazy about it-Lauren went tonight, she hasn't come back to give me her review as of yet. Let me know what you think of it. Hmmm, so Dan the Man doesn't know about your little indiscretion, huh? I'll just keep that to myself, never know when I could use it as blackmail!!!

LDBLOND, glad to hear all is well and you're on the mend. Okay, okay, just keep rubbing it in that you have a Trader Joes to shop at and I don't. I think when we move, one of the criterias of where we move to will be what distance we will be from a Trader Joes. At least I know if we get to Vegas in October, I know where all 3 TJ's are and how to get to them quite quickly!!!!

SPARKLE, I'm sure you and Martin will have a great B.day Bash! Thanks for the relationship explanation! Congrats on the presentation and the cards!! A step in the right direction. What ever did you decide about OA??? Are you still going?

Hey, Michael's not back asking for the computer! Hmm what more can I say??? Oh well, better get this wrapped up before he does want it back. Plus, I'm ready to hit the hay. Eli isn't home YET, but should be shortly.

Weather permitting I'll be hitting the pavement early tomorrow and then will get on the board and post. Hope you are all having a great weekend!!

Good Evening to all

Just wanted to drop in and stay hello.

Deb, I just wanted to let you know, you have not been alone in facing the toilet. I have been feeling "barfy" since yesterday afternoon and sometimes I haven't won the battle of control. And to think that I had to go to work twice today to help "the sick people". I hope that this passes quickly.

I hope that all those living in the southeast and LA and Texas
make out ok. THe weather is just unbelievable in that area and it must be upsetting for those there. All those are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am off to bed and hope that I wake up feeling better, I have to be at work at 7AM but I should be there too long.

Have a great Sunday.

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say that although we were mostly dry today, there is more to come. Alison is back out in the gulf, and has the potential to reform, and dump more rain on all of us. I am not sure at this point if I am going on my trip, I hate to miss the institute, but I am really afraid to drive in the rain, so, am really praying hard that either the rain lets up long enough for me to get there, or it rains so hard I just have to stay.

We are getting so much that the small gators are starting to come into people's houses...not here in the city, but in cities south of us.

I'll try to check in tomorrow. Also, I agree with BOB. Check out the recipe board on the Atkin's site.

Big Orange Babe!!! Go Big Orange! I went to UT for 2 years!!

Solshine - You know? I'm not sure if Glycemic information is on the labels or not. I do know that Sugar from Carbohydrate is on the labels so I guess that's what it is. i just hadn't really thought about it. The labelling is good here now.

Sef! Yes, I do actually speak English English with a Southern drawl, I think. LOL

Catlover Thanks for the welcome. And everyone else too, as I get a bit lost in the pages sometimes.

Nancemeister Very interesting - your English heritage!! No, I haven't posted my Bio yet. I must do that!!!

Quilter - thanks for your nice long message! Yes, I live in a beautiful part of England. by the ocean too!! That's amazing that you met James Herriot and Diana's father!!!!

Debelli Regarding your question! Your friend's city is Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire is the county!!

Karen! Tennessee (East Tennessee would be a very nice place for you to retire to. Also, property is a lot cheaper there so you would pretty well in your move!

I just had a bad 2 days as an old close friend visited from the States and we drank a lot of wine!!! Well back on the plan now!
Have a nice Sunday everyone!!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

The kids and dog are all asleep, so this is my sacred time to have coffee and post. Sunday tradition around here is that Mom cooks a monster breakfast. The kids usually have a friend over as well, so that really ups the demands for me to perform miracles in the kitchen!

Had a fun, but long day yesterday. Went to see Moulin Rouge-very dramatic, fast, loud, interesting. It's set in the 1900's but has modern day music. It's a musical, done very differently. Unlike any other type of movie that I've seen. Got "barfy"looking at Nicole Kidman's 5ft. long perfect legs, and spakling white teeth.
Of course mine have that slight yellow dinge from drinking COFFEE
daily. I realized that two of the actors in the movie were in two of my favorite films. 1. Ewan McGreggor was in "Emma" one of my all time favorite "English" films (I'm a MAJOR JANE AUSTIN-aholic), and 2. Forget his name....from "Enchanted April" another one of my all time favorites.

BOB
Glad to hear your not getting bugged anymore (Yes, there is a difference between "bugged" and "buzzed") ANy particular reason you are drinking that "lactose-free" milk? Do you have a problem with dairy? The main reason I'm mad about the computer problems is because I had searched high and low and found some cool gifs that I had saved (including weiner dogs for you!) and now I will have to start from scratch. I'm not complaining, at least I can post! Lara was mentioning some Veggie soup recipe of yours...could you, would you, pretty please post it for us new-but-getting old-bies? Mucho gracias!

Sparkle
Thanks for getting me up to date, I can sleep easy tonight knowing the romance continues! What are you cooking for that joint BBQ venture? I love anything teriyaki...do you have any SF teriyaki marinades you could share?

Quilter-
What's new? Are you still doing laundry or have you surfaced? I know how those house hold chores can be.....What kind of flowers do you have going on out in the backyard? Of course everything I love, doesn't grow here in our "zone" My favorites are sweetpeas, hollyhocks, delphiniums, foxgloves, and lilacs....of and lets not forget morning glory vines....all the romatic english garden type flowers.

Ldblond
Thanks for the phone call!!! SOrry I had to jump ship on you like that! Glad you are feeling good and that all went well. DId the DH get you your SF Yogurt? Are you going to be back to work on Monday? I ate on plan, but I'm up on the scale...my hands are so swollen, weird! I need to drink my water! I promise I will go back and read Debs info on water..I'll print it out and hang it in front of my face at work!

Debs-
How in the heck are ya? I got up extra early hoping to see you on line, but you must still be cozy in bed with Eli! Are you going garage sale hunting today? If you ever need a care package from TJ it can easily be arranged! How come you haven't been posting your weight like always???? Have you actually not gotten on the scale? Curious minds need to know!

Well, I'm off for a walk! Floyd told me he couldn't go because he was having dreams that him and Skeeter were running through fields of bluegrass having their bellies tickled, so it looks like I'm out on my own! Check in later!

Hugs, Nancy

Cooked some yummy eggs for Paul and me and now I can check in with you all. We are so lucky to have another pretty day, so I think we’ll go for a drive in a little bit. I love just setting out with no goal and see what we find.

Well, hockey season is now over and Ray Bourque finally got his cup. How exciting. I was truly pulling for the other team, but it was good to see a 40-year old achieve his life-long goal. All this is to say that I’ll be back on the boards with more regularity. (I love being regular, don’t you????)

Question: Is Rye bread a yes or a no? I thought I read or heard somewhere that it’s okay. Am I dreamin’ again???

NANCE---Let’s just say that when I was in England, I ate everything I could get my hands on!!!! They have such yummy treats to try. It was funny though, because a couple of things really stand out in my mind . . . the scones at Fortnum & Mason for one. I’m not sure if it was devonshire cream, but it was something so delicious I could have swooned!!! Then there was one particular sandwich purchased at a little shop in Bath for the train ride out to Salisbury . . . cucumber, sprouts, avocado and cream cheese. Oh my gosh!!!! I can still taste it ten years later. I too love all things English. Did you ever watch the British comedies on public television? They used to have some on here that were so funny. To the Manor Born, Good Neighbors are two that I always watched. Okay, N, we are now bonded for LIFE!!! You mentioned my all-time FAVORITE movie . . . Enchanted April . . . I love it so much. Such a beautiful story. I also really get into the Jane Austin works. Did you see the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice . . . I’m still hot for Mr. Darcy!!! And concerning my flowers . . . I have clematis (2 kinds) one is pink and blooming now, black-eyed susans, lambs ear, sedums, butterfly bush, some campanula, plus day lilies. My irises and daffodils and muscari are already finished. I too love the look of an English garden. Mine falls WAY short. I wouldn’t even know what to plant in your part of the country! What zone are you? Our ground here is terrible so I have to plant things that are really strong or else they just die. We also have some hostas and astilbe for the shady spots.

LDBLOND---It’s so good to hear that you are doing okay after your surgery!!!!!!! I was starting to worry that maybe you were having bad repercussions again. Sounds like your doctor is wonderful!!!! So glad that he took your complaint about the medicine seriously and did something to change it. I’ll continue to keep you in my thoughts. Hang in there. Solid foods are just around the bend, right??? But while you’re where you are . . . enjoy those smoothies.

DEB---So sorry to hear you had the barfs!! Yuck, man!!! At least you seem to be able to deal with it okay. I’d be lying on the floor feeling sorry for myself and ready to call 911. Okay, so there’s some things that I over react to!!! Anyways, hope you are feeling better soon and back to normal. I branched out and bought two canteloupe yesterday. Oooo, I am living on the edge. Hopefully, we’ll find a market today that has something else good. I really want to incorporate more fruit into my daily intake. Thanks for explaining your walk/jog method. Makes sense to me. Anything extra that will make us sweat more will get us to our goal. Yippee and Yeehaw to that!!!

LAMAP---You too are sick??? Man, no fun to be barfy on the weekend. How did you handle going into work?? You are much stronger than me. Hope the sandman took the “ralphs” away and left you with an appetite. Take care. Have you ever eaten yogurt when your stomach is upset? Sometimes it really does the job to settle mine when it’s feeling down.

ICESKATE---My thoughts are with you. You be careful! I can really relate with you about not wanting to drive in rain. Especially with the kind you are having. We had one bad afternoon here not long ago where it really dumped on us and people’s cars were getting stalled all over the place because they were trying to drive through high water. Hope it turns out. But just remember . . . trust your gut instinct . . . that’s what it’s there for.

Well, girls, it’s time to do that treadmill thing. I think I shall shoot for 40 minutes this morning. I’m reading a great mystery while doing this workout and that keeps me going longer. Bye, lovelies!!!
Take care.

My VEGGIE SOUP is on the March recipe board...its the 9th entry down including Debs intro...IT's REALLY GOOD...just don't mention the turnips if you decide to include them...DEB will hit the ceiling...
I will ring my own bell....it's DELISH!!!!

The LACTOSE FREE/FAT FREE MILK is because dairy makes me really bloated and I think I have somewhat a case of
food allergies and I'm trying to figure them out as I go. I was tested by a specialist, but he found no allergy...I would love to have the ALCAT test, but it costs about $500 and the Drs that do it are not on my insurance! LIFE'S A B I T C H isn't it?

I'm off on a Sunday mission...drug store, barnes & noble, bed bath & beyond, books a million and the grocery I'll check in later... OH MY GAWD....I almost forgot....I HAVE TO GET SOME STARBUCKS COFFEE while I'm out...always start my missions with a VENTI ICED COFFEE and while I'm there, I need to pick up a bag of COLUMBIAN for my morning starters....

KIM...enjoy your ride..head over to KY....get out in the country on US27....I promise you'll enjoy the farm land....

SKATE...glad to hear you're surviving the rain..I heard this morning about the possibility of the reforming...and that could be bad for me....I'M RIGHT ON THE GULF!!!!

BOB WAGONS GO!
Thanks for the drive tip. Sounds like a good one. We may try to find the Anderson Ferry that can take us across the mighty Ohio . . . kind of an "out of this world experience." So we may just hit 27. I'll let you know. BTW, your image was enjoyable!!! Made me LOL . . . we've got enough wagons fro everybody. Do you need a driving assistant???

Need to hit the shower. Got in 42 minutes on the TM. Really stepped up my walking speed and boy did I feel it. Also started doing a few push ups while stretching afterwards. Really would love to see this upper arm flab go bye-bye. Anybody else with me on that one?????? Here's to solid waving!!!!

:) Morning yall. Everything is back to normal after the heavy rains yesterday. The water finally receded around 1pm or so. Its cloudy today and still a threat of a thunder-shower. Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. I feel so sorry for the people in Houston. Ive been watching the news the past couple of days, and seems like everyone has lost everything. Its so heart-wrenching. I couldnt imagine waking up and having to leave my house with just a few things and not knowing when or what I would have left when I return. Mother Nature really did number on us this time. I guess sometimes you gotta be careful what you wish for.

Im up 2 lbs for some reason. I guess I will have to cut out bread and pasta for the day and see what happens. I have been craving choc. but so far have not given in to it. Been drinkin alot of water with Luzianne Rasberry syrup in it.

:( Help I need some motivation. I havent exercised for over a week and cant figure out why. I know I should I just dont want to. I tell myself I need to get up on the TM and walk a few but I just dont have the motivation.

I know about fear of driving in the rain. A couple years back I felt I had to get to work so I drove in this awful thunder-storm and ended up driving my car into a flooded area. the water came up to the door, so I had to get out and call for a tow truck. So If you dont want to drive in the stuff , dont.

Somebody a few messages back was asking how to do a roast. I usually put mine in a crock pot with seasonings of any kind, a can of tomato sauce and a can of rotel and let it cook all day.
Comes out nice and tender. Then I mix some wheat flour with water and add to it to make a gravy.

Sorry to hear so many of you have had the "barfy's". Hope yall are feeling better. Nothing worse than being sick on the weekend.

Well guess I will go for now. Have some more cleaning to do.

Later -

Afternoon Everyone!

Michaels been doing the hog thing with the computer, so I grabbed the first chance to get onto the computer.

Did my usual 4.5 miles this morning, only 15 jogs though, thought since it was Sunday I'd take it a little easy on myself today:)

Eli is off today, though at this moment he's at church, but not sure what our plans will be for the rest of the day.

LAMAP, glad to hear I am not alone with making faces at the toilet, though I honestly don't ever wish that upon anyone else. Hope you are feeling better:)

ICESKATE & CATLOVER I saw the terrible flooding they have in Houston and hope that Alison just stays away from bringing more rains to the area! Please keep us updated on you and what's going on. Thank goodness you don't have flooding like there and I hope you won't either.

SNOOKS, thanks for that explanation about my friend in the UK-such long addresses you all have there! Okay, so your friend is gone now, no more wine excuses;)

NANCE, it was good talking to you, though I think I talked WAY too much:^: As you know, I wasn't cozily in bed with Eli, but it sure would be nice to be cozy tonight! Last night I fell asleep way before he got into bed. Thanks for the TJ's offer, but I think I'm pretty well off for the time being with the care pkg my Mom brought back from Vegas for me-at least I should be okay until I get to Vegas myself in Oct!!!!

QUILTER, rye bread is fine, but again, try to find one with no preservatives in it-read those labels!!!

BOB, so tell me, how is the Lactaid milk working for you-any problems? Hope you find all you are searching for. See, if you come to visit, Eli will supply you with bags of coffee!!!

CATLOVER, don't worry about the 2lbs, could be hormonal. Why don't you post a typical day's menu, maybe it's not the pasta or bread products that are making you gain. As for motivation, when we had flooding from Irene in Oct. I wasn't able to walk for days, put a real damper on things for me. When you are able, try to get out and walk, once out there, you'll feel great that you went!

Okay, I MUST go now-hit the shower, still in my robe and stinking like a dead rose:eek:

Please remember, TOMORROW STARTS THE NEW BOARD and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of wisdom, please, try to post them tomorrow!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Chris: Sounds like your birthday will be a lot of fun.

Laurie & Deb: I hope the cooties give you both rest and time to mend. Stomach Flu is the WORST!

Feeling good, DH just had to adjust my watch because it was spinning around my wrist.

Nancy: Morning Glory does grow in the valley. I've seen it over on the fences on Adams at the nurseries. At least you could enjoy one type of flower. Maybe you can try it in the beautiful back patio you described.

DH made me a wonderful omlet this morning, but no sf ice cream. He did remind me that I had some the night before.

Quilter: I'm having a hard time getting the proporions right with the smoothies, definitly needs work. Fortunatley, I'm on solid foods but chopping it up in baby bites. Thanks for your thoughts, I really am much better this time around. I'm kind of sore today, but don't need more than tylenol. As for you, sounds like you really are pushing on the workouts...good for you. I'm going to try to get back on track beginning tomorrow. If I can just do 20 minutes in the morning. I too need to get rid of my flabby arms, push-ups are definitly a must. I've even been pondering buying some light weights and doing arm curls.

Catlover: Thanks for the roast tip. I think we both need to go hunting for our motivation to exercise. Like Deb always has said it's not about wanting to do it, it's about needing to do it. I need to get back in the mind set that it is not a choice, but as important as taking my morning shower.

Have an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. DH and I are going to start playing a new computer game he found yesterday. Kids are having fun building a tent out of sheets.

Until tomorrow,

sef

Wasn't around yesterday, spent most of it in bed or recliner. The weather finally knocked my arthritis into high gear! It hurts to type but I have to push myself when possible, it may take several tries but I will get caught up on the Board.

QUILTER - There should be a letter for you. Glad you are feeling better. I don't know who's happier about my cooking....family or me. I love to cook and do a lot of improvisation. SPLASH!!!!! A life preserver just flew your way.

Page 32 Shopper's Guide lists The Baker Sunflower Rye
(whatever that is, haven't seen it here). The Baker Whole Grain Rye, Mestemacher Whole Rye, Whole Grain Rye 100%. So I guess read labels, must be whole grain and no sugars, oses, corn
syrup, molasses......you know the routine.

I too love the Bristish comedies and anything British! There are some good British shows on A & E and PBS has Masterpiece Theater. I love Inspector Morse, I mourned when the author killed him off. Inspector Frost is good, and there is another, can't think of the name.....that inspetor is a family man. Something with
summer mysteries in the title? Not sure. Terrible to get old!!!!!

NANCE - SPLASH!!!!!! That was a life preserver. Catch it and hang on for dear life!

ICESKATE - After my son drained the pool to normal level, we had more downpours and it came up level with the apron.

LA is SB! country, you hould be able to find some things that will help you stay OP. I will send you good vibes! Taking a cooler and if there is a fridge and zapper in room you should survive!

SPARKLE - Loved the pics. You have a couple that would make great postcards, especially Waimea at dusk. Been there and it's gorgeous. Did anyone ever tell Martin he has beautiful eyes? Love to hear your romance stories....ah to be young again!

CATLOVER - I could do with a little less rain. We needed the rain....but all at once?!? I think not. We had a river at one point going down our street. We've had almost 12" Enough already! I loved the cartoon! So appropriate! It rained all yesterday
but is only overcast today. We are lucky in our immediate area, but others are not so lucky. Friday I was at someone's office and as we were talking a tree branch fell and just missed my car.

DEB - What the devil is baba ghanoush? Just My Size Panyhose always fit me fine and I was up to 300#, Jan. '00 I was 298. Never had a problem with them. Wore them all year long. Now that I am retired I don't wear them as I used too. I should as
they make my legs feel better, but the LA humidity can be a bit much! Glad you are feeling better, paying homage to the porcelain goddess is no fun.

I do great in my living room on the Millionaire and Link shows. Being there would be a whole different ball game. a public speaker I'm not!!!

RHROO - Hooray for you! You got your exercise and supported a worthy cause at the same time.

LAMAP - Hope you are feeling better. Going to work, isn't it amazing the things we can do when we have to? Now if I could just apply that to my woe!

IDBLOND - So glad you are doing better. Isn't it a shame we have to go through misery before the right med is found. See even in sicknss and health we can find something legal if we really want too. I know what your mean, I can't even drink 2% milk, I'm so used to skim.

BOB - I am going to look up that recipe. I wish turnips were legal. I love them!

Well, I did it. The whole Board. Took a couple of breaks, but I am caught up.

I hope you all have a good day, what's left of it.

I was reading on the Sweetsense Board that some people felt their migraines improved with this woe. Have any of you seen an improvemment? My dil has so many of them and wondered if it would help. I know it couldn't hurt.

Although the family is not on SB! I make as many family favorites as I can the legal way and they like them. It saves me double cooking.

Take care

Evening All!

Eli's resided to the kitchen and I've been banned. He's making one of my favorites, the eggplant dish-all veggies with chickpeas-needless to say, he better not complain about the gas it gives me, he's the one feeding it to me. Eggplant, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, garlic and chickpeas all roasted in a little olive oil with salt and pepper-that's it!

Didn't do ANYTHING exciting today, not unless you call traveling about 20 minutes to go to the Super Walmart-not much there either-though I did find some interesting butter, 25% less fat, all natural. Didn't find any of that Blue Bunny yogurt mentioned last week.

LDBLOND, glad to hear you are feeling better and eating small pieces of food. I have to remember to look through some books, I know I recently saw some smoothie recipes. Oh, I don't have a stomach bug, I just get sick from hormones, or if I overeat (due to my stomach having been stapled so long ago).

SEF, sorry to hear about your arthritis acting up, hope you are feeling better quickly. The Mestemacher brands are hard to find, I know Fresh Mkt carries it, among other specialty places. It's a very heavy bread, slices are thin, but a very heavy taste. Not my fav. but not awful either. LOL! Baba Ghanoush is a Middle Eastern eggplant dish, eaten with pita bread. I use to make it from scratch, but after trying 13 brands, I found a wonderful canned brand that tastes great! We eat more hummus than baba in our house. I use to buy the Queen size hose, they were so uncomfortable and like you, we have that lovely heat-so it made it that much worse-I HATE HOSE!!!!

Okay, I'm going to throw on my nightly uniform and go read this new book I got at a garage sale yesterday-has some great recipes in it!!

I'll try to check in with you all this evening, otherwise, will see on the new board tomorrow:)

Nite!

I've made big plans to settle into a bath and read, but I wanted to touch base and finish out the week. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Looking forward to another fantastic week.

CAT---So glad and relieved to her that weather-wise things are better for you. Whew!!! You all really did get it! Hey, girlfirend, I know right where you are with the not wanting to exercise thing. Lately I’ve been really getting into it and finding myself eager to get started. When I was dreading it and avoiding it, I finally had to remind myself how GREAT I would feel when I was done. There is something so wonderful about being all sweaty and know it’s from nothing other than HARD WORK and moving my hiney!!!! I work until I feel my hair get sweaty and “other parts” then that makes me stay working for a good while after. I know, it sounds weird, but that’s what’s doing it for me. I read that book, The Body Code and he talks about exercising in the "zone" and then at some point you get into this "flow" where you are really into it. I'm doing a lousy job at explaining it, but that's sort of what he was saying. Anyways, I'm constantly looking for the "flow." Do you like to read? I've been picking some great books that really hold my interest while I'm on the TM. I bought a great bookrack (on OVERCOME's suggestion) and that has kept me going strong. Anyways, don't get down on yourself. Something will click with you . . . just give it time. You’ve been through a lot in the past week, so go easy on yourself.

SEF---Hey, I got your email. THANKS!!! It was great. And to think that your hands are bothering you this weekend. You are too good. I will probably answer tomorrow evening. Somehow, I knew you’d love the british tv. (We are soul sisters!) I watched Mystery for years, but have gotten out of watching a lot of tv. I spend more time in front of the computer these days. And since we pay so much for this DSL connection, I’d better be online as much as possible. BTW, you are making me laugh at all the life preservers you are tossing all over the place. Good thing we’ve got you standing a firm watch for us!!!

LDBLOND---You sound better and better each time you write. (You don’t think the board has medicinal powers, do you????) Glad to hear that you can do the “real food” thing. Oh, I am right there with you on the bicep curls. I loaned my weights to my brother last year and need to get them back. I’ll start doing them too. I don’t do the push ups on the floor. I lean into about the 3rd basement step and do them that way. It’s probably not as hard as doing them on the floor, but my arms have been screaming the past two days. So it’s doing something. (I saw John Travolta do them on a chair on Jay Leno a week or so ago. If they’re good enough for John, they’re good enough for me.)

DEB---Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day. Good for you!!!! You are cracking me about about what’s in sight (or sound) after Eli’s wonderfully fiber filled meal tonight. Too funny!!! Hey, I missed the talk on the pantyhose, but I wear the JMS control top. I like them. I buy the 3x and the crotch actually hits where it’s supposed to and stays there. The only problem I could tuck the waistline under my bra. Yes, they are a bit too long. I kind of think of it as a long-line girdle. Thanks for the answer about the rye bread. I'll keep looking.

BOB---We didn’t make it to God’s country today. Maddie was making pouty eyes at us, so we decided to take her with us. We went out to Miami-Whitewater Park. It’s huge. They have bike trails, and frisbee golf and a water play area for kids and a lake and all sorts of stuff. Took a nice long walk there and she went wiggy over all the people. I get so angry with her because she gets so scared of people. And most of them aren’t even looking at her. Geesh, I was ready to give her the boot into the lake. (Not very good mommy talk is it?) Anyways, she finally calmed down. But I think she’s grounded for a while.

Well, that’s it from this end. See you all tomorrow evening. Have a great Monday!!!!
Take care.
Kim

IT IS HOT HOT HOT....MUGGY MUGGY MUGGY over here on the WEST COAST OF FLA!!!
I believe we have gotten all the humidty from the storm on the other side of the Gulf!

KIM A little hint a plastic man gave me a lot of years ago. After I had my stomach stapled, I was very aware of the hangy skin and actually asked him to remove it. He told me that the kind of procedure he would have to do would leave a visable scar from the armpit to the elbow..His advice? Start with a quart size bottle of CLORAX and gradually make your way to the gallon bottle....you will need a qt in each hand and do arm lifts over your head while lying flat on the floor. He said to use water filled..would there be a difference in two brand new bottles? Does water weigh more than CLORAX??? Start off with five each arm and make your way up to 100 then use one gallon filled with water and start the same thing again...if you keep at it, it will work.
Sorry you missed your "COUNTRY RIDE" especially after Maddie showed her little butt! I used to love to get on those back roads
from Cynthiana making my way up and over to Florence to the Mall.

DEB You little horn dog you Sorry that little passion moment will be ruined by that chickpea gas
I'll be right over....I can make a round trip on what one bag costs over here...I wouldn't want Eli to think I was coming to visit just to get coffee though...
MAN, that dinner sounds good!! I fixed pork chops on the grill, fresh white half runner beans, unsweetened apple sauce.
YUMMMMMMMMMMMM ;)

SEF You won't be sorry if you make my soup....I PROMISE!!
So sorry that ARTHUR has come to visit :(

LARA Hope you're feeling a little better...when your mouth is up to speed I fix garlic roast...oven around 275 300 no hight than 325....chopped garlic (i use four tbs) swirled in the pan you're going to use with three tea cups of hot water. Salt and pepper the roast and place in the middle of the pan. Place your veggies around the meat and I always put a stalk of celery in there. Put the lid on and cook until your desired doneness. ME?? I just know by the smell, so I can't give you a time limit...YUMMMM

CAT I HAVE A TERRIBLE FEAR OF DRIVING IN BAD RAIN!!!
You stay dry and know that you're in my thoughts...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THAT ADMIT HAVING THEM!!!!

I'm off to lurk...then I'm putting my big ole tired butt to bed!

Hi All!

Falling asleep on the couch, so I just got up and of course, had to check the board before going to bed.

QUILTER, Eli's dinner came out good, but he left out putting an entire can of chickpeas in the mix-guess he wanted to be safe than sorry! Oh, I too know all too well about those long pantyhose that come up to your neck-do they even make petite length hose???

BOB, hey girl, come on down any time, just give me a little fair warning so I can make the house look somewhat presentable! Of course, you just can't come to get the coffee, Eli would definitely be insulted if you didn't let him whip up some weird dish of his to feed you. Of course, I'd probably only be allowed in to make some hummus-and maybe the sponge cake!!!!

And with that, I say GOOD NIGHT!!!!

See you all on the new board tomorrow!

Debbie;)
