Good morning all my sugarbusting buddies!

I am so happy to report that I do have a super geek in the house, who found my pst file and all my other missing data and figured out a way to set it up so I can pull it off the harddrive onto my new one at my leisure. SO, all my emails, addresses, favorites, etc. are back!

My new harddrive and optimized system runs much faster than the old one, and I am over the frustrated tears and loving it!

THIN: I use cream soups some, but read the label. I figure the amount of white flour in each portion is negligible, but I only use them occasionally, when there is a specific recipe I want to use. For instance, I put cream of onion in my last squash casserole- which was killer I might add, the best I had ever made according to my daughter- and I make a family comfort food which is a chicken casserole, now and then that uses cream of chicken and cream of celery. I think its better if you can use alternatives, and only use the canned soups now and then. I use the ww low carb tortillas they have sometimes at Publix. If I can't find them, I buy 100% whole wheat ones at Harry's. I don't buy the La Torilla Factory brand, because they are chocked full of soy, and other junk, and make me ill when I eat them.

HEART: I am so sorry about that boy at church. I agree that comfort like the father is feeling comes only from God. My daughter's best friend was killed in a car accident a few years ago, with three other teens. I knew her mother well, and watched how difficult it was for her to deal with the pain. (as well as the pain my daughter and even I felt) The girl was a strong believer, and wanted to be a missionary. Her mother is a believer as well, but those deep times of pain are when we meet God best. Strange as it seems, he is always there. Spiritual growth seems to happen best when we are so down we have no where to turn but Him. I hope and pray the family will continue to feel God's comfort.

TONI: Those burritos do sound good...I think I will get some ww tortillas.

FILLISE: Yep, we do go through the laundry! My kids would probably kill that machine in a month! I am always fussing at them to not overload my large capacity machine! I may start sending them to a laundry mat... I feel sure we won't be able to pull together an Atlanta meet until after you get back. Whatcha gonna do in NYC?

Ok, I am off (but only slightly!) Time for breakfast and hopefully a walk!

Just a fly by. Have to go work out at the gym in about 20 min. And still have to brush my teeth, etc.
Lost just 1 pound this past week. I weigh in on monday mornings. It was a scant pound, but I have a balance scale and it is difficult to tell to the quarter pound. I can see that even with my constant vigilence to be "perfect" it is going to be a long haul and a fight for every pound lost. It certainly is easy to be tempted to throw in the towel. I was hoping the hard part would not come so soon.

Breakfast: meusli--homemade about 300 Kcals.

I only have one more flower to cross stitch on my afghan and then I'm finished. I started this about 25 years ago and worked on it only when we traveled. It is almost a memory blanket with all the history that was going on through those years. I am planning on working on it DURING the week and maybe I can get it finished by the weekend. Then I'll just have to knot the fringe.

Hope everyone has a good SB week.

Hello all--welcome to the start of a brand new week!

I've been slowly weeding stuff out of my house. Since I work at home I tend to accumulate a lot of paper and it gets junky pretty quickly. I've been tacking one problem spot a day for the last week and it is going pretty well. If I keep this up I might actually be able to restore order!!!!! It also helps that I'm working through the pile of clothes on my bedroom floor too. I can actually see the floor now!!!!

This morning for beakfast:

1/2 cup fiber one cereal, 1/2 cup 1% milk, and 1/2 cup blueberries.

Last night I made a fritata for supper--with all the fresh zuchhini around I think that's going to be a summer staple!

Monet--I am taking my youngest niece to NYC for her 13th birthday. I promised both my nieces that I would take them to NY the summer they turned 13. Her birthday was yesterday and we leave on the 14th for NY. After this trip I have to STAY HOME and work for a while!!! The coffers are getting waaayyy depleted with all the traveling I've been doing. Of course that doesn't preclude a trip to Atlanta on a weekend.

I hope everyone has a good week. Let's keep working towards our goals!

Gator, we were posting at the same time! Don't think of it as just a pound---there's also the one or two pounds you didn't gain! I know if I'm not vigilant, it's not a matter of staying the same, I gain--rapidly! So a small loss is a bigger net--because I know it would have beena gain otherwise!

Still, it stinks that it goes on so fast and comes off so slowly!

Good morning everyone! Shock and Ahhh here cause we got rain. Missouri is having a heck of time with hot temps and no rain. It was so dry and awful out. Of course we were trying to barbeque chicken out when it started. Couldn't believe my DH got it done.

Jack-K- Wanted to tell you thank you for the offer to send me some South Beach food. My daughter in law in South Carolina asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I gave her a list of stuff I couldn't get here and shes going to hunt them down there for me. Hopefully she'll find them.

Fillise- What a nice thing for you to do for your nieces for their birthday. Wow what a clean up you're doing. Wish I would start something like that.

Gatorgal- Oh my gosh what a long time to do an afgan. But what wonderful memories it holds. It must surely be a lovely prize.

Monet- Thank you for starting us off this morning. I sure need to get with the water. But oh this good coffee is so nice this morning. Glad you have one of those geeks in your house. My DH is ours....

Guess I'd better get busy and get my shower. Have a great OP day....

Good Morning:

We will be leaving here in about an hour for swim lessons, although I have debated taking Lane; she has a little bit of a cold. Doesn't it figure? My kids have been well all summer, and here we are a few days before our summer vacation and they get sick. Britt was sneezing when she woke up, so I think she is getting it too. Hopefully it will be short lived cold. We've got to go get the oil changed in the truck after that.

I got up at 4 a.m. to get to the gym, and will go again on Wed. That will be it this week, since we leave early on Thursday for our trip. I am sure we will be doing a lot of walking, etc...I am going to eat what I want but not go overboard, and then get back to being more stict when I get home. I have been too lenient over the past 3-4 months.

I hope to check in again, but the next few days will be very busy...doing laundry, packing, running errands, etc...

Talitha: So good to see you again!! Welcome back and Congrats on the birth of Jacob. For most people, pregnancy is far from being a great weight loss plan ;) . We look forward to seeing your posts more often now.

Monet: So glad you were able to recover that info.; that would have been very sad to lose all that. We are leaving early Thursday.

BOB: I can't believe that I have "met" someone more accident prone than myself ;) . I am glad that you weren't hurt any worse than you were. I hope you are feeling better soon! At least you were wearing new panties  !

Gator: Sounds like you made some great progress in your yard. Your steps are very impressive! That afghan sounds AWESOME!!

Heart: Congrats on staying legal all weekend. I am sure you learned your lesson about skipping BF. I am so sorry to hear about the death of that precious child. I can't imagine the grief.

Toni: So sorry to hear about your dog being ill. It is so tough to lose a furry member of the family. We lost 2 dogs 4 months apart, and it is still with me.

Cindy: I am glad that your dd has agreed to some hospice care to give your dm some relief. Caring for a sick one must be so difficult. I am sure your dm appreciates all that you do for them.

Thin: I am sure that the tortillas are fine. Sometimes the lc stuff tends to be a little higher in fat, so just watch for that. I think cream soups are questionable, due to modified corn starch and other ingredients. I use them occasionally and don't worry too much about it. You are usually using one can for an entire recipe, so it is well broken out.

Well, I gotta get the girls to get dressed and brush teeth and get their hair pulled back.

I'll try to check in later!

Take care!
Nat

Just a fly by...took James to work, and then ran to the store. A friend is coming over with her two girls in a bit...she just called and told me she is bringing another five year old with her, because the mom called and asked her to keep the child a few hours. She asked if I minded...told her no, but if the kid was a pain, I might ask her not to bring her back!

Breakfast was whole wheat waffles with agave, and four strips of bacon. I drank a Pepsi One for caffeine. I need to get off milk products for a few days, and so no espresso. ( )

I need to go finish putting stuff away and clean up a bit in the kitchen. I also need to pack up some crafts to mail to my niece. I am hoping they like them and pay me lots of $$ for them! :D

 I will be back later!

Happy Monday Ladies.

I love short weeks. We leave Friday morning so I only have to work 4 days. But I have tons of stuff to cram in those 4 days after work.

Had a busy but good weekend. Eating was great, except for some wheat thins at a birthday party. That was the only cracker other than a Ritz so I thought it was a better choice. Plus it was my only starch for the day. I also had 3 ritas, We had some good food Saturday. Grilled Grouper and squash and zuchini. Yum! Didn't take any water pills over the weekend. Last week I was only taking 1 a day trying to cut back. The scale was up 6 pounds. I find it hard to believe it was from the ritas.

Got up this morning and got my treadmill and bun roller done. Don't know how much wts I will get this week with so much to do before vacation.

Monet, I'm glad your computer is up and running and you love it again.

Toni, if there is something your SIL can't find, I'll be glad to send it to you. Hope we get some of that rain here soon. Our grass is getting brown.

Gator, 1 pound is great. much better than a gain. Can't beleive you are getting your afghan finished after 25 years. Has it yellowed or anything?

Susan, When you finish your clutter, come to my house. I have a desk that could use cleaning out. What a great aunt you are. NY is a awesome place for 13 year olds to venture. Will you do some shows?

Nat, sure hope the girls are not getting colds. Maybe it is allergies. Have a wonderful trip. I hope Sara Lee has a smaller bun, those others are huge. I keep seeing all the stories on the fires there. That is so sad. Hope they get under control soon.

Heart: Who Hoo! I knew you could do it. WTG on making it a legal weekend.

Cindy, Hospice is a wonderful organization. They will help everyone in your family. Still sending prayers for your DD and your family.

Talitha, welcome backand congrats on your new son. Looking forward to "talking" with you again.

Bob, hope you have recovered from your fall.

BF: mini bagel with light cream cheese.
Snack: celery 7 PB
Lunch: tuna w SB crackers, peach
Dinner, steak, salad, aspargus, another veggie.

I'm trying to get the fridge cleaned out and am running out of fruits and veggies. It will be lean eating this week.

Have a great day. Off to eat some lunch.

Thanks, gals, for the encouragement on the "just one pound" loss. It would have been easy to have a cookie or something as a defiant gesture toward my recalcitrant body. I went to work out this morning and I was so sore from the weeding that we did last night that I couldn't do the dead lifts. My back is really sore right now, along with my hamstrings. In fact, I'm gonna take a day off from walking. Just need a rest. I got 9500 steps in yesterday, and 16000+ each of the two days before that. The steps are not hard to rack up if you pay attention to it.

I saw an old acquaintance this morning at the gym. She is probably in her 50's and was a TINY little thing, probably weighing barely over 100. Tiny waist, etc. etc. She has gained about 20 pounds since I last say her about 9 months ago, and as we talked, she mentioned that she has been totally fatigued and discovered that she had very low thyroid function. In fact, she is seeing an endocrinologist for her thyroid problem. So we exchanged tales about our thyroid meds. It just reminded me how challenging keeping weight under control is for anyone with thyroid problems. MONET--how have you TSH numbers, etc, been doing?

Susan--How nice to take your neice to NYC. And how fun.

Jackie--It probably has yellowed slightly, but it is 100%acrylic and so it looks OK. I was gonna try to attach a picture, but need a new battery for my digital camera.

One other thing I forgot to post. I love avocados and occasionally have an avocado and tomato sandwich on 1/2 WW pita. It is yummy, and sticks with me. I noticed that florida avocados are now selling in the grocers as "SlimCado" Lite, with 35% fewer calories and 50% less fat than the Haas California avocado. Even though I'm from Fla, I prefer the California fruit because of the taste. But today I tried a "SlimCado" and, yep, it was lower in calories, but still really has no taste. So I'm going back to the California variety. However, for you avocado lovers out there, you might want to give "SlimCado" a try, and you may like it just as well. 35 Kcals vs. 55 Kcals might be very appealing.

Checking in to post my menu so far: Lunch was a hodge podge... I had chicken and brown rice cooked in the pressure cooker, several fresh cukes from the garden, a slice of apple with a bit of pb on it, and a Pepsi One. I also ate a nectarine to keep it from going bad...

GATOR: I have not had my TSH or other levels checked in almost a year. My doctor was booted off my insurance, and I am having a mental crisis about finding another...

Ok, I'm officially back. I can't remember what I wrote before, but did I mention that I was in a car accident 2 weeks before JAcob was born? Well, someone remind me if you need more details. I got a second opinion on Friday and they confirmed this morning that I most likely need back surgery. I'm devastated. It's been 6 months and I was really holding on to the belief that it would heal. Now I'm looking at needing to hire a nanny for a month for my recovery. It feels like a pretty imposible situatioin. Did I also tell you that Travis lost his job the same day, well really the same HOUR as the accident. It's been a pretty long haul. We almost lost our house and everything, but we are coming out of it.
As far as my eating, I am using the weight loss shakes that I sell. I made sure that they are SB legal. They are made with protein from yellow peas and sweetened with stevia. So I will list that alot for meals. I never felt happier than when I discovered SB. I feel like I've kind of forgotten a good bit, and I may not follow it exactly, but I'll tell you what I'm eating. I'm too busy with working and 2 small kids to reread the book. I don't even have it!! I've been reading The Maker's Diet, and I feel like it even expands upon SB.
I jsut signed up for an online program to become a PRofessional Nutrition Specialist. I'm so excited!
I've become a 'Knit-aholic' and Crochetting too. I love it. Did you know that Parenting Magizine did a study that found knitting to be a s theraputic as Yoga? What a relief for me with a back injury, right?

Does anyone know if Ezekiel Bread is legal? I'm sure it is, since it is sprouted whole grain.

B- Just Go Fiber shake w/ blueberries
S-2 pieces of Turkey bacon, 1 hard boiled Egg
L- Curry Chicken Salad with Field Greens, Quinua Salad
S- Grapefruit, WW Pancake
D- Go Easy! Protien Shake

BOB- You're just as crazy as you always were. I love it!!

MONET- Did you know the Dekalb Farmer's Market has the large size of Agave Nectar for $4.99?

GATOR- I was reading the remarks above ARe you knitting or crochetting? Avacodo is one of the few things I can feed to Jacob. He loves it!! It was one of Selah's first foods, too.

Jack- Thanks for the welcome!!

Well, guys. I'm here with my tail between my legs. I had a total binge day. Yep, what good did I do staying legal thru the weekend and I ended up treating Monday like a weekend day? I'm feeling really crappy right now and I'm so mad at myself. I don't even want to think about what damage I've done in one day. All I can say is that I'll be back on track first thing in the morning. I'll need to buckle down and be VERY strict the next few days just to get the weight off that I piled back on today. I haven't done anything with my life today but watch tv and eat. I didn't even exercise or clean this messy house. So tomorrow I'll be up early so that I can clean and get 2 workouts in for tomorrow. I "rented"(Netflix) Leslie Sansone's 3 mile Express and will try it out tomorrow. I have the 4 mile Express, I didn't even know there were other versions. It's only 37 minutes long, so it probably moves very quickly. Her 3 mile WATP is around 43 minutes. I've watched Miss Congeniality 2 and Hitch today and both were good. When I went to the funeral home yesterday, we had to wait in the chapel, in rows, before we could go into the parlor. It was the biggest funeral I've ever seen. Tons of people. So while waiting, I got hot flashes and got very nervous feeling. I think I was having anxiety. Then when it got our turn, I lost it when I saw the pics of Josh smiling, etc...You would have thought I was close to him or the family. I looked around and there were a few people teary-eyed but I looked a wreck. My eyes were swollen and puffy and I was crying. Even the preacher, was like "it's going to be okay..." I sobbed on the way home. I think it was knowing and really understanding the parents pain and also knowing that could just as easy be me in their place. So now I feel a little embarrassed at my reaction, considering the whole church seen me(and it's a big church). Oh, well.

Talitha- Good to see you back. I'm sorry that you have to go thru surgery. Have you gotten a second opinion? It seems that when bad things happen, they want to happen all at once. We've also been going thru a tough financial time.

Ellen

Good Morning! I slept very well last night, which was nice after a few weeks of waking up repeatedly all night. Not sure why, but it may be that I never really ate dinner. I just had a small serving of chicken and brown rice and snacked on a few fresh cukes...

There is a lot on my list of things to do today...but I intend to get in as much lazy time as I can! :s:

HEART: Its understandable that you would identify with the parents pain. Your reaction just shows you are a sensitive person. I think your eating also shows you are an emotional eater. Gwen Shamblin, who wrote the Weigh Down Workshop, suggests that we often eat emotionally when we are feeling empty and the proper place to get filled is by turning to God. She had participants use prayer and Scripture reading before eating anything to see if it would help fill the void without food. I wonder if you could try that. Next time you feel like eating off plan, grab your Bible instead.... <<hugs>>

TALITHA: Are you shopping at the DFM much? I have a lot of friends from church down there. The large bottle of agave there is not the Sweet Cactus brand. Its made from wild agave instead of the Weber blue, and has a much higher GI. A friend of mine picks up the Sweet Cactus Farms stuff for me from Sevananda. They have it at Harry's still, but it costs more. I am not sure if the DFM carries Sweet Cactus Farms or not... but they DO have those Eden Foods brown rice chips...they cost too much, but are SO good! :) Where are you living now in Midtown? (main intersection..just so I can picture it!) I am so sorry about your back. I think Laurie is right, get a second opinion. And a third! I had surgery in October, and I wish I had not been rushed into it. Not for my back, but with any surgery, you can never go back....

Good Tuesday morning Ladies.

Well I did get my wts in last night and my bun roller again and some leg exercises too. This morning I missed my treadmill as I normally get up when DH leaves, but today he had to leave at 4:30. So I slept right through untill the alarm went off. It's going to be hard the rest of the week to get much exercise in. I have lots to do to get ready for vacation.

I keep forgetting, I tried the SB pizzas. I didn't like them. The crust was funny. I reminded me of an English muffin. I love the Amy's ww pizzas and Atkins. Now the SB cookies are to die for.

bf: 2 eggs, coffee
lunch 1/2 pizza
dinner, steak, aspargus, salad. (this was last night's dinner but we had a change in plans. We had chili dogs (no bread) and beans instead so we could get out the door quickly).

Gator, some days our bodies just need to rest. It was telling you so.

Bob, I swear someone needs to watch you. Maybe a straight jacket would be better than rails. Hope your are better today.

Talitha, I am so sorry to hear about your accident. Back problems are the worst. I have 3 bulging discs and as soon as I exercise theystart bothing me. Sorry to hear about DH job too. I take it he has found another one?

Heart, you were supposed to get on the board when you were tempted to cheat. But back on track today will help. I'm sure any wt from yestrday is not fat. You will be fine. Hey I am a big blubbering idiot. I don't even have to know the people or anything on TV makes me sob.

Got to get some work done.

Morning all!

B-1 WW english muffin. 1 tsp natural PB, 1 tsp SF blackberry jelly.

I've cut waaay back on the amount of PB I use on toast. I make myself take it out of the jar with a teaspoon and that's all I use.

I cooked an extra chicken breast last nght so I could make chicken salad for lunch today. I love it when I think ahead!

Jackie--Are you fighting the "I'm mentally on vacation already" syndrome? I always have to fight that before I leave for vacation.

Monet--Get some lazy time in for me today too!

Heart--I'm not surprised that it was a difficult day for you yesterday, after all you had to confront your worst fear Sunday evening. It is understandable that it threw you into an emotional tailspin on Monday. But let me ask you this--did the eating ease your fears? If the answer to that is "no" then you can cross it off your list of coping mechanisms try something else. I know that's easier said than done, but the eating doesn't help, it only makes you feel worse.

Talitha--I'm sorry to hear about your accident and back. I have always found that when the "sh*t happens" it makes a really huge pile! Sorry yours is so stinkin big! I also echo the "get a second opinion" advice. It never hurts to be sure. Your menu looks fine. You know the basics--white, bad; brown good, whole grains are best, and keep it below 3 gms of sugar (actually the newer book says 5 grms, so I use that as an outer range).

BOB--um, just what sort of activity were you engaging in that would cause you to fall out of bed? Is BOB holding back on us?????:s:

Gator--I'm with you on the california avacado--much better! I love them too and they are a good fat and packed with vitamins. I make a salad that is good:

salad greens (whatever is your favorite)
1 small avocado cubed
1 small apple, chopped
a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts
bleu cheese crumbles
Bleu cheese dressing (although with the cheese I often find I don't need or want the dressing).

The flavors of this salad are really intense and it is soooo good!

I'd really love to see a photo of your afghan--it sounds so beautiful!

Nat--Hope the girls are feeling better!

Toni--I am shamelessly bucking for the world's "coolest aunt" award!!!!

I hope everyone has a great OP day!!!!

Susan

Good morning all.... Just having my morning coffee and enjoying the computer. Yesterday was another bad eating day for me. Hopefully today will be better. I need to keep coming and reading so I can get encouragement... And hopefully get back on track. I feel so much better when I'm eating right. And sick of my days being filled with guilt over not making the right choices. Well I've whined enough for now....

Good Tuesday morning:

I hope you all are having a great day so far.

I kept Lane home from her class; it would have been her last one. I told her that her teacher got sick and had to cancel class; she would have been upset to miss it over being sick herself. It's not worth the 40-minute tantrum. She and Britt are packing their backpacks and picking some videos for the road (as they sneeze and blow thier noses.....ARGH).

I am going to take the girls to Peter Piper Pizza to meet their dad at noon, and then go to my Gastro appt. at 12:30; I sure hope he is able to figure something out. I will then take the girls with me to Target; I have to try to find a plastic bedrail to take with us; we left the last one at Six Flags in March. I also wanted to buy a $5 Fourth of July tee for me to wear on the 4th. They also have a small bag of popcorn and medium drink for $1.

I guess that's it for now.

Monet: Hope you enjoyed your friend and all the little ones; that is probably why you slept so well  . Did they wear you out? Have you rec'd the book on your pressure cooker yet? I just ordered a chocolate factory set today off the infomercial....double broiler and a bunch of candy making stuff; the kids will enjoy it, and it will help with our Christmas baking. I am such a sucker.

Jack: Have a great time on your vacation! When will you return? Let's make a vow to get right back on track when we return. Sometimes after missing a week or two of working out, it is tough for me to get back on track! Well, it is not allergies; the girls have full blown colds....at least we still have a few days. The fire smoke is all over the valley; you can smell it when you are outside, just about anywhere.

Gator: I have always preferred the taste of the California avocado...it seems to have a smoother texture. Maybe I could use the others when I am making guacamole or something.

BOB: Gheez woman; what's up? I am going to try to find a bedrail for Lane today...do you want me to get one for you ;) . You must sleep very sound...I would wake up if my piggy toe wandered  . Buy a bra without trying it on? I can never find a good fitting bra! Maybe you can buy some more panties with the money you get back from that...hee hee.

Talitha: So sorry to hear about all the misfortunate things that happened all at once. Thank God you all are o.k. and have your health (with the exception of you back). Please look into it as much as possible. I have an aunt that had back surgery that ended up requiring more and more back surgery. I'm not sure what your symptoms are or the diagnosis, but back surgery is very tricky! Your son didn't receive any injuries from the accident, did he? You didn't go into premature labor, did you? Was Selah with you? I have heard that knitting and crocheting is very therapeutic. Ezekial bread is legal; they also have tortillas. I found a sprouted grain english muffin too by Food 4 Life; they are good.

Heart: At least you are confessing. I am sure that this wake contributed to your eating binge. BUT YOU ARE IN CONTROL! You should really get that food out of your house....the kids and DH don't need it either. Don't ever be ashamed of your feelings; your body needed a good cleansing, and you should feel free to show what you are feeling at a tragic time like that. Hang in there.

Fillise: Howdy!!

Toni: It's a new day ;) !!

Gotta go get dressed and ready.

I'll try to check in later!

I'm feeling really gross today. I have a huge get together tonight at a coffee shop near my house to celebrate my promotion to District Manager. I'm determined not to loose control, but I will let myself eat a little. I ordered a cake, I have chocolare dipped cheesecake bites and Homemade Chips and salsa. I got champagne, and other than that people can buy drinks from the shop. With Jacob's food allergies, I got used to not eating any wheat (while I was Breastfeeding)
I've been eating a lot of tortilla chips, but that's not SB legal, is it?

B- Just Go! Fiber shake.
S- Grapefruit
L- Zaxby's Buffalo Bleu Salad and a few of Selah's fries :(

I shouldn't have eaten the salad or the fries. The chicken was fried and I feel bloated and gross now.

Selah was with me in the car accident, but was perfectly fine. I had contractions for 8 hours after teh accident, but only dialated to 2. They put me on strict bedrest for 2 more weeks and did a C-section at 37 weeks. Jacob is fine, other than his food allergies. He can't have any dairy, soy or wheat. THat's been hard, but I am only breast feeding once a day now. I have to special order his formula from ahomeopathic Dr because he can't have event the expensive formula. His is $35 a can!!!

I am working on getting a second opinion for my back. I'm really hoping for some other options to come up. the pain is constant. Iv'e been on Percocet for almost 6 months, and they just switched me to Lortab.

Monet- I have been shopping at the DFM, but Sevenanda is closer to me. I haven't been there yet, but I mean to go soon. I didn't know that my Agave had a hight GI. They don't carry Sweet Cactus Farms. It never occured to me that there was a difference.

Heart- I totally understand. Something like that can trigger your emotions when you identify so well with the situation. It's heart breaking.

PONCHO- Are you sure BOB didn't steal your bed rail? I hear she's been needing one...

Heart--Just hop back on the wagon. We all support you in this and can empathize with your emotions at the wake. Fillise's questions were really good ones that you should consider as you go forward. As you learn how you handle stress (possibly by eating food tht is not good for your bod) you can find other healthier ways to cope. You can also make each eating episode an event by putting what you are choosing to eat on a plate. Serve it with a napkin and knife and fork, and a glass of water or tea. Sit down at a table and eat your food, like at a meal. That way you won't be just standing at the kitchen counter putting whatever into your body. Also, I agree with Pancho: get the cookies and junk out of the house because it's not good for your kids either. They will grow up learning that cookies and chips are the way to go, and will miss out on the chance to eat fresh apples, salads, fruits, whole grain bread with PNut butter, etc. when they are hungry.

It has been raining most of yesterday afternoon and lots this morning. I did get my walk in and am 400 steps short of my 10000 goal today. This afternoon the only walking will be in my house. But I hope to be able to sit and finish the afghan today and tonight. It will take about 6-8 more hours, and then all I need to do is knot the fringe. I will take a pix of it and post it as soon as I get a new battery for my digital camera. I will try to take a close-up of a couple of the squares with the flowers. It is really pretty and I'm really proud of it.

Food today:
B: 1 boiled egg, 1 oz. slice WW sourdough toast with 1 tsp butter and t tsp SF jelly, 1 cup melons
L: 3 1/4 oz. beef filet mignon (DH leftovers from his dinner out last night with clients), 1/2 pkg frozen broccoli spears, 1 small lettuce salad with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese and lo cal dressing.

Talitha: I agree with everyone else--get a second opinion. It's possible that you will need the surgery, but it never hurts to get that second opinion. Also, will you have time leading up to the surgery, if you HAVE to have it, to prepare at work so that your month of recovery won't be so difficult for your job? My neighbor had back surgery and they made just a tiny incision and he was back up and around later that week. I, however, don't know exactly what kind of surgery it was.

Jackie--Good going on the weights. I watched the Oprah show yesterday, a repeat on how to look 10 years younger. Almost all the women really were into exercise of some sort, and one was really into lifting those weights. They all looked fabulous.

Gotta go stitch.

Um, as for the binge yesterday, none of the food I binged on was in the house. I raided the convenience store and hit McDonald's up. I'm paying big time for it today, more than I thought I would. 8 pounds!! One step forward to take 3 back! I'm so puffy that even my knees are hurting today from the fluid. Here's my menu for the day:

BF- was plain yogurt with splenda and a peach
Lunch- sounds weird and looked funny, but it was pretty tasty. I steamed a plate full of veggies(squash, zuke, tomato, brussel sprouts, and brocolli)and then I spooned leftover taco meat on top and threw a little cheese and salsa on it. My kids hollered "ewww", but it was good. I originally planned on just veggies, but knew that I would need protein to sustain my appetite until supper.
Supper- 2 eggs and 3 slices bacon with a cup of skim milk. (I have blackeye peas and sausage in the crockpot for everyone else)

I'm trying not to eat any starches today, hence my supper. Oh yea, I did that video of Leslie Sansone's, the 3 mile Express. I normally love her videos, but I wasn't cranky about this one, glad I just rented it. I have the 4 mile Express and it's good. But this one just didn't "flow" right. And it was longer than it said. It was 46 minutes plus stretching. So that's about 3-5 minutes longer than the 3 mile WATP. It also used a strech band, which I didn't have. I tried to improvise with 3 # weights, but it wasn't the same. So if you were debating on buying it, don't. Stick with the 3 mile WATP or buy the 4 mile Express which is just a few minutes longer and better. I have to teach exercise this evening at church. My knees are really hurting and it's step day. I normally do 2 sets of cookies under the step. Not today, one will be enough and I'll probably cut the step part of the workout short. Alright, the laundry is calling my name...

Just flying by....we have friends coming for dinner, and the husband is going to help Tom get the ballisters on the deck done. He has only been putting it off for a year! Of course, he had other things to deal with in that year...an invalid wife after her surgery, plumbing, and more plumbing!

I am trying to decide what to fix for dinner. I am at a total loss...stupid me. I just can't decide!

Nothing much else to report...I will be back later!

OK, I e-mailed Monet a couple of pictures of two of the flowers that are on my afghan. I never am able to upload on my computer as it has too many kb's for the 3FC to take. I have about 3 more hours of the last flower and then on to the knotting. Yea!!

Here are Gator's two pix...

We had friends over for dinner. The husband helped Tom put up ballisters on the deck...wow...they got it almost all done! It looks great!

Dinner was Chinese style beef stew with nappa, water chestnuts, and bamboo shoots, a fried fish concoction that needs work, and brown rice. We also had cookies that the wife made...whole wheat, but with some brown sugar. They were fabulous! :)

I am reading a new book, called the Rosedale diet- it is supposed to help Leptin resistance, and sounds rather promising. Anyone hear of it?

On to the pix....

Gator those pictures are beautiful! ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions about the tortillas and the cream soups. I really don't use the soups that often, but Sunday night I made a dish that was basically the inside of a pot pie without a crust. It was reallly good! :T
We use the low carb tortillas all the time and no one seems to have any ill effects from it. The kids use them for traditional mexican foods, to roll up sandwiches in, and you can cut them into wedges and bake them for just a few minutes and they come out crisp like a tortilla chip. I even put spices on them=homemade doritos. I know they have to be better than the real thing!

Our power went out Sunday night/Monday morning, and the next time we tried to get on the internet, our modem wouldn't work. I don't know why the power was off for a couple of hours like that. It wasn't storming, so I don't know what happened, but we got a new modem today and are back in business now! :D

Well, good night sleep tight!

Flying by this morning ....

We have a friend of James' coming tomorrow morning to stay for the weekend. Its a girl, so I am very curious as to what she will be like. He met her online and they have talked a lot, but this will be the first face to face meeting... I need to clean the house some. And you all know how much I like house work.....

THIN: Are they doing construction around you? We have lost power at times due to construction going on nearby. They were placing new power poles and replacing the lines, and they would turn off the power while they were moving stuff. Sounds though, like your modem got fried... Do you use a surge protector? I like that idea of baking the tortilla wedges to make chips! I never thought to try that. I will have to...

Just hopping on a minute. Today the lady comes to clean house, which I need badly! I need to get the sheets started in the wash. Now that the furniture store exchanged our matteress and box springs, we're loving our bed. Bought a new matteress pad I'll put on today.
Gator the pictures are wonderful. Your afgan I'll bet is beautiful. Guess I'm off to do wash... Have a good day....

Yes, they are doing construction in our neck of the woods. They are also working on widening the road, but I would not think they would be turning off power at 4am, but who knows!

I'm going to clean house for a while this morning and then begin painting our porch. Yippee! Our dog and cats have worn some of the paint off back down to the wood, so it's time for a refresher! I will probably be blue myself by the end of the day! :D

Happy WIW

Do we have a bunch of losers today? I'm not one of them. I am so frustrated. My goal was to be in the 160's before vacation and the scale has hardly budged (other than up). I have been 98% legal for the last month and worked out 95% of that time. That bun roller that promised 2 pants sizes smaller in 10 days didn't pan out either. :?:

Get my nails and pedicure tonight. I need to start packing. Had a house full for dinner last night (I felt like Monet). The girl that is staying with the dog came and another friend of my DD whose parents are on vacation. The steaks were great. We had aspargus, cauliflower and a mixed veggie,(green beens, brocoli and mushrooms) and button mushrooms and a salad.

Susan, I love it too when I am prepared. I especially love having my meals planned out for the week and my clothes planned too. Of course cooking ahead is a bonus. I think I am getting that attitude today. Most of my work is caught up and I'm bored. Think I'll make a list of things not to forget.

Toni, you were doing great. You can get right back there. I believe coming here really helps.

Nat. sorry the girls have developed colds. Hoperfully by the time you leave they will be better. Let us know what the Gastro doc says. Have a great vacation. We get back on the 8th.

Talitha, I get epidurals for my back and they really do help. Maybe see a paint doc. It takes awhile to get back on track. I'm sure you can do it. I'm glad Selah was not hurt in the accident. Thank goodness for car seats. I'm glad everyone was okay.

Gator, you should be proud of your afghan. 25 years is a long time to stay with a project. It is really pretty, that is alot of work and hard to do. I agree wt training is important, especially as we get older.

Laurie, it is amazing how much water we can retain. Mine is hormonal (so they say) but you are too young for that. Hang in there, one day at a time.

Monet, never heard of that diet. Is is similar to SB?

Thin, I make the chips out of the tortillas too. Pretty tasty. I even take them to the Mexican restaurants with me.

Off to find some work to do. Have a great day.

Talitha

I wasn't as good aws I thought I would be last night at my party. I only had 6 schips w/ 1/2 cup homemade pico de gallo. That wasn't so bad. It was the 1 1/2 slices of cake that made me feel sick for the rest of the night. Why do I do that? I know sugar makes me miserable. I just want it!

Back on track this AM!!

B- 1 c puffed millet w/ /2 c rice milk
1 c detox tea, 1/2 grapefruit
S- 3oz rotisserie chicken

Jack- I already did a full set of epidurals. They only helped for a few weeks each. I also did 4 months of physical therapy, electrostimulation and heat therapy. HAve you found anything else to help?

Ellen
06-29-2005, 01:23 PM
TALITHA: Check the GI on that puffed Millet...I am thinking its high.... The siren call of sugar is hard to resist...I am not very good at it. :(

JACK: Yes, it is a bit like SB, but has some very different parts too. Like, he says NO trans fats, and lots of healthy fats like avocados and olives. I think I am going to try it. It just makes so much sense when I read it. There has to be some breakdown in the system for you to gain with such ease, but have such a hard time losing. I will let you know how it goes.

THIN: Oh! When you are doing painting your porch, want to come finish the painting in the hall bathroom here? The girls said they would do it, but they have not touched it in weeks. :(

Thin and Monet--Often when the power goes off, it somehow "locks up" your modem and computer. A trick to try before you panic is this:
1. Unplug the cable connection cord from your modem to your computer or to your router, if you have one. You can disconnect on the back of you modem. Just unscrew it.
2. Unplug your modem from the electrical connection (the wall). Shut down your computer and unplug it.
3. Leave all off for about 2 minutes or so.
4. Replug everything back in in reverse order, ie. plug in your computer into the wall, then plug in the modem, connect the modem to your computer, turn on your computer.

If you use a good surge protector, it often is not that your modem got fried.

Thin, those tortilla chips sound good. I often do the same with small wedges of WW pita bread, separated into the two parts.

Jackie--glad to hear that you don't need pain therapy any more. Or I hope I understood you to mean that.

I got in my walk this morning, but since I work at the Preg. crisis center on Weds. I usually only get in a 1 1/2 mile walk instead of my normal 2 miles. I just got home, and now it is raining, hard. We've had about 15+ inches of rain in June.

Food today:
B. homemade meusli with sk. milk
L. 3 shrimp with garlic and parsley, leftover from last night; 1/2 cup plain tiny green beans; 1 small wedge of crustless leek quiche (no crust) left over from last night; large bowl of cut up melon.
Dinner will be baked fish, sauteed fennel, and probably a salad.
I also had a snack of 10 cashews.

Gotta go finish the afghan.

Thought this was funny...

I want to thank all of you who have taken the time and trouble to

send me your chain letters over the past two years. Thank you for making me feel safe, secure, blessed, and wealthy.

Because of your concern...

I no longer can drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.

I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put "Under God" on their cans.

I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.

I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS.

I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

I no longer receive packages from UPS or Fed Ex since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise.

I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our troops.

I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a Stupid number for which I will get the phone bill from **** with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore, and Uzbekistan.

I no longer eat prepackaged foods because the estrogens they contain will turn me gay.

I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.

I no longer go to bars because someone will drug me and take my kidneys and leave me taking a nap in a bathtub full of ice.

Thanks to you, I have learned that God only answers my prayers if I forward an email to 7 of my friends and make a wish within 5 minutes.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl who has been dying for the past seven years.

I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program.

Thought this was funny and should be passed along.

I will now return the favor. If you don't send this e-mail to at least 1200 people in the next 60 seconds, a large bird with diarrhea will fly over your head at 5:00 PM and the fleas of a thousand camels will infest your armpits.

I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of a friend of a friend's neighbor's cousin, and he's a lawyer.

WIW sucks for me. I'm up 4 pounds from last week, back to a total of 10!! What was a real eye-opener for me this morning was I went to put on a pair of pants I hadn't worn lately and I couldn't even get them buttoned, even while sucking my gut in! So then I tried on another and another, all the same thing. Only 1 pair fits, the pair that I WAS wearing with a belt(no more). I've got to get this under control for not just my physical and emotional sake, but my pocketbook's sake. Here's my menu for the day:

BF- peach and plain yogurt
Lunch- 2 sl bread, 1 sl cheese, 2 sl bacon, and 1 egg(sandwich)
Snack- not sure yet
Supper- Beef and cabbage casserole(meat, cabbage, tomatoes, cheese) and probably a sweet potato

Although I ate lunch less than 2 hours ago, I'm feeling hungry. I need to do my workout and that might take my mind off food. Or it might make me hungrier by the time I'm thru. Hmmm...guess I will need a good afternoon snack. Maybe an apple with PB and a cup of milk, or a strawberry smoothie? Dunno, we'll see. Alright, I've procastinated enough, need to do my workout for the day(sigh).

Another fly by! Went to the post office then the store. The store was having a sale on Coke products, so I got a lot of Diet Coke with Splenda... Yum! A young friend from church just got here...she is going to swim with her nine month old. I am going to go join them outside in a minute.

GATOR: We don't have modems, as we use DSL. Thankfully, I can leave all those hardware problems for my son to solve...he tests computer equipment in his job, so if it doesn't work, I yell for him! :)

We use DSL too. The little box that connects to your computer acts as a "modem" that's what we had to replace. We get our service through our phone company so no charge for the new box. I just had to drive to the office and pick it up. Tonight we are having baked cod, brown rice pilaf and wsome veggie. Don't know yet, will have to check out my fridge! it looks like it's about to storm, so I better get going!

Howdy everyone:

It has been a busy day, and I can't see it letting up anytime soon. I wanted to check in today since I won't be back until sometime next week (probably the 6th or 7th). I'll probably jump back on later this evening to read, but won't have time to post.

I was at 121# this morning, so no complaints. I was at 122# at the gastro's office yesterday, so I am happy that my scale is so close to being right on at all the dr's offices I've been to lately.

O.K....I was up at 4 a.m. to go to the gym, and then to my dermatologist for a skin check; he wants to biopsy two of my moles, due to the color (they are really dark and one bleeds on occasion). I then came home for about an hour, and started laundry and then took Britt to her class, and then to the grocery store, and then to p/u DH to take the rental car back and he brought us home and took the Tahoe for the rest of the day (the Explorer is in the shop....$2,000 or so to fix radiator, brakes, etc....it has 235,000 miles). I am doing laundry and packing what I can when I can. Britt has her friend and sister over again and they are playing right now. I just finished lunch and it is after 2 p.m. here. I gotta take a breath. I vacuumed all the tile and mopped it last night to make sure there is nothing that will attract any ants/bugs. I will vacuum all the carpets today.

I have some snacks packed up, but don't know why I bother....everyone wants to pick something out at every stop along the way. We are giving Britt $20 to spend at stops along the way, so she can learn how to make her money last and what things cost. She learned a lot about counting money in 1st grade last year, and this will be fun. I also printed some games off the computer and have a lot of crafty stuff for them to do along the way. The trip s/b about 20 hours, so I gave them each 20 strips of construction paper, and they can give me one every hour for a little surprise (fruit chews, piece of candy, etc..). I printed a US map for Britt to color in for all the license plates she spots along the way. We also have travel Bingo, and some videos to watch....I'm sure the will be saying they are bored a few hours into the trip  .

The gastro wants to get a stool sample, which I'll do when I get back. He also wants me to follow through with the colonoscopy. He said that fiber will help with this problem (even tho I've found the opposite). He claims if I give it enough time, it will help bulk the stool and help with the diarrhea. He said that I may not be able to complete a BM, due to the other organs prolapsed against the rectum, but will see how much resistance there is during the procedure. He said if this was antibiotic colitis that I would be having diarrhea non-stop all day, which I don't. He also said that 6-8 weeks would be an awful long time to still have negative affects from antibiotics. So, I guess only time will tell. He scheduled the colonoscopy for Aug. 3rd, so I cancelled the other one I had scheduled on July 15th. I'd rather this dr. do it. He made Top Docs list this year in the Phoenix area, and has been practicing for many years.

I guess that is enough rambling considering I have so much to do.

I can't post to everyone...but GATOR, I am sure the afghan is beautiful...I loved the pics.

HEART: I loved the "funny." It is sooo true!

Gotta run!

HAVE A SAFE AND FUN 4TH OF JULY!!!

I'll try to check posts a bit later.

Tom came home with a half flat tire, so he is running over to Pep Boys to get them to fix it. He was mad though...they stripped the lug nuts when they put the tire on, so he can't take it off. Also, he can't put air in it because they are nitrogen filled. Needless to say, he is a bit cranky. He took my cellphone and I am supposed to go pick him up once he gets it all worked out. I need to change my shorts to some long pants (I don't wear shorts in public! ) and be ready to run when he calls.

HEART: You need to read this book I am reading, called The Rosedale Diet. He explains the constant hunger syndrome, and his explanation makes sense. When you are hungry so soon after eating, either its Leptin resistance, or insulin resistance. The Leptin problem would explain why you are having such a hard time with appetite right now. I have not finished the book, but I am pretty sure I will give the diet a shot and see what happens. If he is right, it should solve my metabolic problems in three weeks.

PANCHO: Have a great trip! Where are you going again? You aren't going to be anywhere near Hotlanta are you???? You got my name and address...call me if you do! :drill:

It's 6 pm and this is the first chance I've had to get on today!

I've eaten pretty big meals for breakfast and lunch so will have a light supper.

breakfast-2 soft boiled eggs, 2 sl WW toast w/ RCmargerine.
snack-2 Mcvites cookies spread with 1 wedge of Laughing cow light swiss cheese(this cheese is wonderful and comes in little wedges to help with portion control!)
lunch-2 cups black bean soup over 1 cup uncle ben's rice

I still have that extra chicken breast in the fridge, I think I'll cut that into strips in a salad for supper.

Monet--I see the car curse is still at your house! If I go out in shorts you can!!!!! I've been using the Jergens Natural Glow on my legs. It works pretty well. Somehow the thunder thighs are less frightening if they are brown!

Pancho--I hope y'all have a great trip. It sounds like you have plenty for the girls to do! Tell me again where you are going. . .

Thin--We've had lots of storms lately and I'm constantly having to reset my DSL modem. Glad you got it relaced so you can be with us!

Heart--I thought your chain mail post was hilarious! I always check out snopes.com for the latest on urban legends! Re the pants--you know what you have to do!

Gator--sounds like you have to do the modem jig too! I love the afghan! What a beautiful keepsake!

Talitha--I HATE that feeling after you've eaten too much sweet stuff. Cake really seems to do it to me too. So file that feeling away so when you ae tempted to do it again you can remember that it makes you feel terrible. Congrats on making district manager!

Jackie--I switched my weigh-in day so haven't done it today. I'll let you know what it says! When do you leave? I'll probably be heading out about the time you and Nat get back!

Toni--Can she come clean my house too????

I better go fix my supper.

Have a great evening everyone!

LUNCH- Go Easy shake w 1/2 banana
SNACK- Sunchips (I know, aweful right?I didn't eat many)
UH-OH- A few bites of Selah's Ice cream at Chicfila
SUPPER- Go Easy shake w/ Decaf Coffee (Mixed together like a latte, yum!)

I'm a little stressed. I got on the scale this morning and OH MY GOD! I'm up to 184! I'm so ashamed. I feally need to get my A#$ in gear. I need to get the book from the library again. I don't know if I can do this. All of the diet changes in the past 6 months have been so ovewhelming already! Besides that, I'm on Lortab and I just can't get anything straight. Will you guys kick me out if I don't strictly stay SB? I don't really want to go to another board, since I already know everyone here.

MONET- The Puffed Millet says 0g of sugar. Is that what you are referring to? Can we get together sometime again? Maybe you can jog my memory on what's legal and what's not. I just don't have time for another book! We jsut had to spend $800 on getting the passat fixed. Horrible timing.....

Fillisie- Cake can get me every time. I still have 1/2 of it sitting on the kitchen counter. I just don't know what to do with it!!

Hi all. I have just this week and next of OT and then I hope they are done for awhile . My Dad went back in the hospital Sunday night but he may get back out by Friday. It seems to be about every 5 weeks or so he ends up going back in.
Eating is going good. Im being super strict 6 days out of 7 and relax a little for one day. - 1/2 a pound so far this week. Im hoping for at least a full pound ( more would be nice :) ) Down 7.5 lbs so far since Ive stayed strict.

Monet- what great advice to grab your bible when you feel like eating. Ill have to try that.

Jack-k- I agree with you on the sugarbusters cookies. They are great. How do you make chips from tortillas?

Talitha- I hope your back does get better. Surgery is no fun. But if its the only way then It might help you in the long run. Im sorry about your dh job and all at that time. It does seem like things happen all at once.

Gator- Very pretty... the flowers.!

We have a storm moving in so I should head off. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

When I make baked tortilla chips I use low carb tortillas as my kids will not eat the ww ones and I figure these are better than regular. ;) I spray the top of 2-3 of the whole tortillas with olive oil spray then cut each into really thin strips or wedges. Sprinkle with salt or sometimes the ranch dressing mix=no sugar. Bake for 4-5 min in 400 degree oven till brown on the edges. It may take longer for ww, I don't know. Stay close to the kitchen as these can burn quickly. They are great and could almost substitute for saltines as well, for soups or whatever. :T My kids eat them sometimes with salsa or cheese. Today they used the tortillas with some of my homemade pizza sauce and turkey pepperoni and cheese to make pizza for lunch. Whatever works eh?
They're trying to do pretty well, hard to get them to try more veggies though. And if they get the opportunity to drink a regular undiet drink or corndog, pizza etc. at Grandma's of course they will jump at it. I'm just trying to do better at home then maybe they can afford a splurge every now and then. :p

Good Morning! James is off at the airport picking up his 'friend', and Tom is walking out the door to go to work...using Laura's car since his is still in the shop. :( James has my car... Last night, I thought Laura and her friend were going to paint when they got home from work at Blockbuster, but instead they sorted laundry and cleaned in her room. :( Tom and I got an earful this morning about how it was not fair that we are letting James have a girl friend over when we won't let the boy Laura is dating stay over night. Well.... there are lots of reasons why, but she is not listening so we are not wasting our breath!

THIN: I am glad your kids are adjusting somewhat to the healthier eating. Of course Grandma's is going to be a challenge. My last grandparent died when I was four, but I had an aunt that was like a grandmother to me. When we (my four sisters and I) would go on a diet as teens, we always tested it by going to Auntie Mary's. If you got out of her house without cheating, you were going good! She always tried to get you to eat something...danish, cookies, a sandwich, a soda... she just wasn't happy unless she could feed you! Can you convince Grandma to stock the diet sodas instead? :s:

TALITHA: The whole of Sugarbusters is based on the Glycemic Index. You can look at the list on Mendosa's website. ( http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm (http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm) ) Some things may be low in sugar, but high in starch that will turn to sugar. Millet is one of those kind of things. Its high, and therefore not a good choice for SB. I would love to get together sometime. PM me, and lets work it out. Maybe we can talk Fillise into coming over sometime soon, (after NYC!) and you can meet her too! :) I am looking forward to meeting Jacob!

FILLISE: I agree..brown is less frightening! I will have to look for that stuff. I just don't get a tan naturally!

CINDY: I hope your dad is doing ok. Hey, even 1/2 a pound is the right direction! :) I need to follow my own advice there, on the Bible reading....I am so easily distracted!

I need to go do some last minutes cleaning, before our 'guest' arrives.... hopefully, I will be able to check in later!

I woke up this morning a little down, and there was that D$#N cake on the kitchen table. I ate 3 or 4 bites before I realized how stupid I was being, then I walked it outside to the trash and dumped it!
Marriage isn't all that easy. I feel like a single working mom with a messy roommate right now. I feel like we'll never get a chance to go out again. My gas is turned off, haven't been able to cook for a week. We got Trav's check yesterday, so I can call and get it reconnected. Just in time, of course, for a disconnect notice on the water. Trav hasn't taken the trash ourt for 2 weeks, So I just dragged it to the curb. And he wonders why my back is still a problem.....
Ok, I'm done complaining. I just can't take anything else going wrong...

Anyway, after my 4 bites of cake, I felt lkie I was going to thowup :barf: from the sugar. I mixed a shake, half fiber/half protein, and had that for breakfast. I still feel sick from the sugar.

MONET- I'll PM you :)

FILLISIE- Comin' round the ATL anytime? I'd love to meet you :dizzy:

Talitha--Check the shakes you are drinking and see how much sugar they have. Often the nutrition/protein shakes have a lot of sugar to make them taste yummy, but it sabotages us in the long run. Also, are you getting enough calories and fiber? I don't know the nutritional breakdown of your shakes, but looking at you lunch, snack and dinner from yesterday, I wondered about that.

Cindy--You might also try the pita chips: Cut a whole wheat (Toufayan Brand is 100% WW) pita loaf in half. Separate the 2 parts of the "pocket" of each half so that you now have 4 pieces of semi-circular shaped pita. Pile these 4 pieces into a stack and cut into 4 or 5 triangular wedges. If you cut into 4 wedges, you will now have 16 pita "chips." Put the chips onto a cookie sheet and bake in a 350 oven for 5 minutes or so until they are very slightly browned and crisp. These are not as thin as tortilla chips, but are very good, and elegant served with hummus, caponata, or salsa.

Monet--The information on the Rosedale diet sounds intriguing. What is leptin? What's it in? What is different about Rosedale than SB?

Talitha--no, we wont "kick you off the board." LOL :) We just are so glad you are back here.

Yesterday was a very difficult day for me. Normally Wednesdays are because of the junk that they have sitting around in abundance at the center where I work on Wed. mornings. Little bite sized candy bars, including Snickers, my favs. Then Hershey's chocolates, little bags of chips and cheetoes. They have a big jar of nothing but cashew nuts!!! The director thinks she is being nice to us by having these goodies for us to eat, but it is nothing but a distraction and something to sabotage me. Last Wednesday I had trouble too and had some nuts and then went "crazy" all afternoon after I came home. Yesterday, I had some cashews (about 10) and for some reason was hungry all afternoon. I just kept thinking about those yummy cashews and starting snacking on "healthy" foods. Then progressed to a nice sized piece of chocolate. My DH came home from work late--7 pm.-- so I suggested we go out to eat instead of having broiled fish as I had planned. Dinner was NOT a success food-wise!!! So, what is it that sets me off on Wednesdays???
I don't know yet. The director of the center was on vacation this week, so I gathered up the jar of nuts, the basket where they keep the chips and cheetoes, and the dish of candy bars and I put them on the bottom shelf of a closed cabinet with the following note on the top:
Please don't leave us out to tempt our Christian sisters as we don't want to cause anyone to stumble. (Then I put two scripture references) Thank you, Mr. Chips, Mrs. Candy, Mr. Nuts.
I hope this will be a helpful message to the woman who is our director. The asst. director is trying desperately to lose weight and I told her how I felt about all the temptations sitting out for us and she agreed, but was afraid to move anything because she thinks the director is "touchy." So, since I'm a volunteer, I did what I did as I am not worried about being fired. :) Ha Ha, Maybe they can cut my salary!!! LOL

Anyway, I'm back on the wagon today. Monet, maybe I had a leptin attack yesterday, whatever that is. I am gonna go walk as soon as I finish posting. I had oatmeal for breakfast, along with cherries and sk. milk. I finally found a good brand of oatmeal for cooking, one that is not mushy and like paste, so we had that this morning. My old favorite brand has changed their milling process and have begun rolling their oats too thin, and they were mushy.

Gotta go walk. Have a great day, everyone.

Pancho, if you have not left yet, have a great trip.

Good morning Ladies

Well my suitcase is 3/4 packed. Only have to pack my shoes, hair products, makeup etc. Can't do that until tomorrow. We have all put an outfit in each others bags in case our luggage gets lost. I have never had that happen, but (knock on wood) there is always a first.

This is probably my last post until the 11th. I will miss you guys. I have my workout routine packed with my workout clothes and tennis shoes. Not sure if they have a fitness center, but they probably do. Planning to make the best choices I can on food. This is Carribean food so it is different than what we are used to. Their fruit is different, especially their juices. They have a lot of mangos and of course, I don't like them. Their meat is different. Don't want to know why. I have a prescription for meds for travelers diarreha. it would be welcomed by me, but the rest of the family may want to use it.

Talitha, the epidurals really helped me the first time, but after my 3rd one, I was diagnosed with breast cancer so I basically did nothing for a year. Now that I am back exercising(and trying to get the 20 chemo pounds off) it hurts again. I have had 2 so far and as long as I don't exercise I'm fine. Sorry nothing worked for you. Sure you can stay, no reason to leave us. Give the cake to a neighbor. Get it out of the house.

Gator, No I still get the epidurals. Will get one when we get back from vacation. Good idea about the note. I doubt that they will fire free help. You gotta express your feelings.

Laurie, I know the feeling. I have a whole closet full of clothes that are too tight. Funny how for awhile the scale goes up but things still fit, then all of a sudden, they no longer fit. I threw all of my "fat" clothes away. I never was going to be fat again. Then I never expected to get cancer either and that makes me mad that on top of that, I gained wt which I don't think I would have done. I'm surprise things don't still fit with all the exercise you do. That was a lot of my problem, not exercising at all for 9 months. Hang in there. They will fit again soon.

Thin, Yum! my favorite dinner. I'm coming to your house.

Nat, you are probably gone. Wow I want to travel with you. Sounds like you are very prepared. Have a safe and fun trip.

Monet, poor Tom. It's either plumbing or car problems. My and my DD both had nails in our tires. She had to get a new tire. Luckily we had the warranty and it only cost $13.00. We haven't fixed mine yet (sure hope it doesn't go flat) but we don't have the warranty

Susan, we leave Friday morning. So we will probably miss each other. Have a great trip.

Cindy, I take the ww tortilla, brush it with butter or olive oil. Sprinkle chili power, salt, garlic (really any seasoning you like) cut up into small wedges, bake at 425 for about 7 minutes. Watch them.

I'll try to get back it things are slow here today. If not, talk to you on the 11th. Have a happy and safe 4th. Guess we won't be celebrating it down there. :s:

hello everyone!

Another good day of eating, but my scale at home is not budging. I keep telling myself to remember that I lose is chunks--a big loss then a stall, a big loss than a stall, well dadgum it it's time for my big loss!

Jackie--Have a great trip! Do the best you can, but have fun--youve earned a lot of fun after the last 1 1/2 years!

Gator--WTG on getting the snacks out of sight!!!!! I don't know what it is about Christians and food--everyone thinks they have to feed the five thousand--with sweets no less! When I was on staff at the church, I was confronted with sweets everytime I turned around. I'm glad you included the scripture! I hope it works.

Talitha--I'd really like to come to Atlanta to meet up with you and Monet! Let's work on something when I get back at the end of July. Hang in there--it sounds like it has been rough on you. Gaining weight won't make any of the other stuff any better though.

Monet--Tell Laura that I said she needs to be nice to her mother!;) And PAINT!

Thin--I think I will make some chips for the weekend. I have done the pita chips like Gator, but will try the tortilla strips to see which I like best.

Cindy--Sorry to hear you DF is in the hopital again. I hope he can get out tomorrow--but WTG on the 77.5 lbs!!!!!

Got a lot to do today as I think the world will begin shutting down for the holiday weekend early tomorrow. I'm not going anywhere since I will be headed out the next weekend for 10 days. I 'spect the boar will be slow, since it usually is over a holiday weekend--so Happy 4th everyone!

Hi everyone,

I am back...sort of. Company has been gone since Sunday but I am still exhausted. Dh's friend from Miami came with his wife, his wife's niece, nephew and his stepson. We went to Smokey Mountains for 3 days and had a blast. The view of the mountains were spectacular and our cabin was just luxurious. I can stay there for a long time...lol. The only place we visited was Dollywood and that was enough. Overall, we had such great time with them. I had lots of exercise when they were around though. Eating wasn't too good especially during the time at TN but I am slowly moving back to the SB direction.

I have been cleaning up the house slowly but still has a lot to do and I feel like I could use a nap every now and then. This weekend, we will have someone paint some walls in our house so I am not trying to get it too clean as I know I will have to do the major cleaning after the painting.

I went to my 30th week dr appointment on Tuedsay. I did some blood work and the rest is just normal procedure. Jr is doing just fine and so am I. My next appointment will be 3 weeks from now. Gosh, time really flies, 2 more months to go :)

I am hoping to slowly get back to "active" mood here so please bear with me. I need to get back to eating healthier so I am going to start to post my menu again. What I have so far today :

Breakfast : Half of fried egg and cheese sandwich, 1 cup of soymilk and 1 piece of cantelope.

Snack : 1 piece of cantelope and small handful of dried fruits/nuts trail mixed.

Lunch : Pan-seared basa fish, sauteed spinach with red pepper flakes and garlic, basmati/wild rice pilaf that I got from Costco and some can green beans which dd loves. I feel like spinach itself wasn't enough so I added a can green beans since I was lazy to cook other veggies...lol. Not sure how much nutrition I can get out of that can green beans. I know it will be a treat for Jess...she just loves it and I don't know why....lol.

Snack : Cantelope/grapes and some nuts. If I get really hungry, I might just have a piece of ww bread with peanut butter instead. I seem to get hungry so easily these days.

Dinner : Not quite sure yet.

Got to go...not sure if I am able to do any replies yet but will work on it.

Hey, guys. Not much going on today, staying home. Even church exercise is cancelled this evening, which leaves me wondering what kind of workout to do today. I know the one that I need to do, but my knees still hurt so I'll probably just do the 3 or 4 mile tape followed by some leg exercises, weights, and abs. The scale was down 2 #'s from yesterday, still up 2 from last week and 8 total.

JACK-K- Yea, it sucks not being able to wear any pants. I also threw out all my fat clothes, although I wish I would have saved 1 pair of my 24's, just so I could see the difference in then and now.

Gator- the cashews were fine if you're able to stop yourself. I no longer buy them cause I don't know when to stop eating them. I eat almonds now.

Susan- I hear ya. That's how I USED to do when I was losing weight, drop several pounds then stall and so forth. Then I can remember when I was expecting my drop at anytime and it wouldn't come. Frustrating. Hang in there, you're doing good. Do you only eat SB legal foods, or do you occasionally eat WW foods, too? I always wondered if it would affect you're weight to do SB then eat a WW meal(like at Applebee's). I heard their onion sourdough soup is really good.

Talitha- at least you were able to stop yourself before eating anymore of that cake. I also wonder if you're getting enough calories with drinking those shakes. I hear ya about the bills, I'm behind as well and it doesn't look like I'll be catching up anytime soon.

Well, here's my menu for the day:

BF- was plain yogurt(with splenda and cinnamon) and an orange
Lunch- leftover beef and cabbage casserole
Snack- fresh sliced tomatoes broiled with mozzarella cheese
Supper- baked chicken breast, fried squash and onions(in olive oil), green beans

I really hope that I see 166 again(last week's weight) tomorrow, or definetly by Saturday. That way I can report a lower weight on WIW. Alright, I need to get off the computer and do my workout. Man, I haven't wanted to exercise this week! I have procastinated about it, but when it's finally over, I'm glad I did it. I'll need to keep reminding myself that while exercising, lol.

Hello ladies,

I know I have been MIA again this week, but with good reason this time. I pulled the muscles in my back again, and have been flat on the couch until today. The pain pills and muscle relaxers just zap me. I do nothing but sleep. I didn't take any last night, and am doing fairly well this morning......even walked my 3.2 miles, so I think I am on the mend.....don't even know what I did......could it have been sitting on the bleachers for so long at the rodeo????

We had a really great weekend. Started off by selling the boat for the full asking price!! Yeah!! Then we had a birthday party for my Grandma Saturday afternoon. I had all kinds of relatives come from all over for this. One Aunt came from New Mexico, one came from the coast, and a Great Aunt and Uncle came up from Utah. I have been very close to this people so was wonderful to see them. I am looking forward to seeing them again in October, as I am going to be taking my Mom down to see her Mother. After the party, Mom, my brother and I went to Newport to watch Brant ride. He took third in both rodeo's that he entered this past weekend. The sad part is that a very young kid was killed Saturday night in the bull riding. He was only 17 years old. My heart aches for his parents and family. I always think that it could have been Brant when something like this happens.

Sunday we went out to breakfast and did a bit of gambling. We both ended up winners for a change. I cashed out for $75.00. and Ted cashed out for $44.00 then hit the biggest payout on his machine for 2,500 nickels......$125.00. It was a nice day for the both of us.

I also picked 4 boxes of strawberries this weekend. I am trying to get them taken care of now that I can walk around. Don't need any jam this year, but I want to freeze some. I still have quite a few bags in the freezer too though.......

Eating has been great, I did plan on a couple of cheats. A thin sliver of Grandma's cake. And I had some other sweet on Tuesday that was planned. But I didn't over do, and stuck to one small portion on both occasions. If I could do that all the time......I wouldn't have this problem..........

B--8 oz fresh strawberries, Lite 85 yogurt.

snack??

L--turkey and swiss ww wrap, 1/2 c ff cottage cheese.

snack??

D-- Taco salad with ww tortilla.

I will update my menu when I figure out what I am eating.........

The Go FIgure 8 shakes are sweetened with stevia and fructose. They are full meal replacement. Half the reason that I'm drinking them so much is the time factor, and the fact that my gas is turned off and I can't cook. Pathetic, isn't it?

I don't want anyone to think I have an alterior motive for talking about the shakes, since I am selling the products. I have researched them, and spoken with a dietician about them, and they were approved even while I was breastfeeding. I was really hoping to incorporate them into the SB diet that I used to do.

I didn't expect to have such a hard time remembering what's ok to eat and what's not. I am so overwhelmed with life right now that I just need some accountability and encouragement, not matter what I am eating. I am starting a weekly board on the gofigure8 website to be similar to this, for my clients. But I want to keep this up as well, so that I have somewhere that's not 'work related' to connect. I also need to get back on track with SB for my remaining meals. It's just going to take more effort than I thought.

Can a couple of you check out the dietary info on the shakes ant tell me if you think they are ok?

http://www.gofigure8.com/interior/products.php

The dietarty and ingredient info is on the right under Product Knowledge Sheets,

I usually mix the shakes with fruit and there is a FIber shake too. I'm not sure how many calories I am getting.

TALITHA: What is the source for the protein in those shakes? I had to download the pdf file to get the nutritional info, but it just says its not from animals. If its soy, it really should say that for the sake of those who can't have soy. The vanilla was six grams of sugar per serving, and the chocolate was four. That is not bad, though the six is over the limit. If they work for you I don't think they are all that bad. I don't do well with protein shakes and such. I do much better on real protein like fish and chicken, and veggies. Tom, on the other hand, loves a protein smoothie...

KENG: I go to the Costco in Gwinnett. Its right by Harry's Whole Foods. There is another one up near my church in Dunwoody, but traffic is always really bad around that one.... I am thinking of trying BJ's. They just built one really close to me.

HEART: Sounds like things are looking up...or down as the case may be!

TEENSY: I am so sorry about your back! Its awful when you have back pain! You can't move without it hurting! That is so sad about that young boy. Its a reminder that rodeo riding is a dangerous sport.... Prayers for Brandt's safety...

FILLISE: I would pass on your message to her highness, but she went out early this morning, leaving an atrocious mess, and hardly told me where she was going. I know she never slept last night, and so I am not feeling warm and squishy towards her.

JACK: You will be missed! Have a great time!

GATOR: This book is very interesting. Rosedale is supposedly one of the leading authorities on metabolism in the country. Leptin is a hormone that has been recently discovered, and they are doing studies to determine what all it does. One thing is clear, it is very powerful. Rosedale thinks you can become resistant to it, just like you do insulin, which causes the metabolic system to go haywire, and causing your brain to keep telling your body to store fat. Eating the right kinds of foods can help resensitize you to Leptin, and his diet is the supposed best way to retrain your system, and lose weight. His desciption of Leptin resistance sounds like a list of my rants.... He says all other metabolic systems are influenced by the leptin, hence low thyroid function is a result of leptin problems. I am probably going to at least try the healing phase of his diet and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Keng- Where are you in GA?

Monet- The protein comes from yellow peas. It should be on the PDF I looked at iut the other day and it was there. I am using the whole system, minus the Weight loss supplement. I really do better with the shakes, since Travis is gone so much. I hate taking the time and energy to eat. When I do want to eat I just have a regular healthy meal. I've used the shakes more lately because I've been working so hard. SInce today is the last day of the month, I can relax. This month was unusual because I was doing a Top 10 Challenge to win a bracelet from Tiffany's. I'm the only one who did it!!! I also earned a peridot ring, but I didn't get my $200 bonus I was hoping for. No big deal. It would have been a shock to get it my first month as District Manager, anyway.

Okay...I just got back from visiting friends/family in Rochester (NY) and one of my main goals was to go shopping in the plethora of malls and find at least one pair of size 12 shorts. I don't know what the heck happened to fashions since I was a manageable weight, but I know I'm not nearly hip enough to wear today's styles. I hate that the waists/rises are so low and I certainly don't need 'cutie' written across my ***!! Maybe "Big North Country Mamma", but defininely not 'cutie'!! :lol3: So, I settled for two pair of hand-me-downs from my sister, who has lost 20lbs on Slim Fast and is now in a size 10. The low rises on the shorts I found in the mall end up having the waist going right across the widest part of my butt and my underwear shows and then my pockets are halfway down my thighs. SOOOO unflattering, even to a slim figure! I saw them displayed on the mannequin that way and I'm like...what gives?

Anyhow...gotta get the kids in bed. School is FINALLY out here. My dd got the Presidential Award at graduation, signed by GW himself :smug: , which means she had over a 90 average on social studies, science, health and math and at least a high '3' (a B) on at least two of the state tests, which she got a '4' (an A) on two of them and a high '3' on the other two. I was bawling...I was so proud. I'll post pictures when I get the chance tomorrow...right now I'm exhausted from noisy neighbors in the Holiday Inn and need to go to bed.

Oh, and tomorrow I put my halo back on regarding being OP. I went out with a bang today with a Big Mac and a vanilla shake on the way home..but my size 12's are feeling fine and that's the main thing, right? Since I started out this journey growing out of 16's, I'll take it...

Okay...gotta run...will do replies in the AM...

Kris...and I'm HAPPY to be home!! ;)

Just got in from Harry's. We were out of milk...can't have that! James' friend went with me, as he was not done at work. He has to work all week, and she is going to be here until next weekend....guess I will be the one entertaining her. She is very nice...its just hard to get to know someone in such an awkward situation.

Its so hot here...the air conditioner is having a hard time keeping up with the temps. I felt like I was walking into an oven when I went outside to get some rosemary out of the garden.

Dinner tonight turned out really good. I fixed a pork roast in the pressure cooker. I used fresh rosemary, and dried basil and thyme. The pressure pushes the flavor way into the meat, so it was delicately seasoned all the way through. Yum! We also had some low carb potatoes (probably NOT legal...) and brussel sprouts. I snacked on brown rice chips I got at Harry's too. Lunch was chicken salad and an avocado.

I am going to get off here and chill.

TALITHA: Not sure when Julia (Kengjw) will be back, so I will answer...she lives south of Atlanta - I think in Clayton county some where not far from Morrow....

BOB: My goodness, how wordy you are tonight! How are you feeling?

Heart--LOL, I hear ya re. the cashews. I love'em so much that I could eat the whole jar. Eating almonds is much easier for me, as you described.

Monet--thanks for the info. re leptin. Keep me abreast of your experience. I see that eating nuts and fish oils is good for that leptin thing.

Jackie--Have a GREAT!!! trip.

Hi Kris.

And BOB.

Continuation of food today: dinner-- 4 oz. tilapia, baked in the oven with some olive oil, tomatoes, onions and fennel leaves. Yum.
Caramelized fennel, stirfried broccoli and sesame oil.
About 15 cherries. Had a few extra cherries because it is bedtime and I was getting hungry.

Night.

Believe it or not, I forgot to weigh in on Wednesday, so I did it this morning and I was down three pounds! :cheer: I haven't been really trying so I was surprised. Now my goal is not to gain it back and maybe I can actually lose more in the process.
I also live in North Georgia in Cherokee County in a small town called Ball Ground. We are near the area that the newspeople camp out in when they are expecting snow!
Well, I better go and get something done today!

Thinwithin- How far are you from Atlanta? Do you go to Lake Allatoona ever? I used to camp there all the time. I grew up in east Cobb, but most of my friends livred over off of Wade Green.

I'm so glad that it is finally July!! I'm going to relax and have fun all weekend!!

MONET- I didn't leave the house yesterday. My AC doesn't work in the car, and We only have window units at the house. THey work pretty well, though. The heat really gets to Jacob.

Morning! I have been such a good girl this morning! I went for a 20 minute walk, racking up 3500 steps! Yay me! (I need all the encouragement I can get...I am SUCH a computer potato!) After I got back from my walk, I picked blueberries, and ripped at the dang vine that tries to eat the bushes every year. I got about a quart, and they are just beginning to ripen, so over the next week or so, we will have tons. (we have six very mature bushes..)

Breakfast was three poached eggs, and some brown rice chips, and a cup of organic french roast espresso with half and half. I think the coffee was fabulous, and I am thinking about a second cup! :coffee:

GATOR: Yes, fish oil and healthy oils and nuts are important to leptin sensitivity and use. According to Rosedale, Leptin is more important and powerful than insulin. The book sure sounds right to me. I am definitely going to try incorporating his ideas into what I am doing now. It will be hard giving up the grains totally, but if it works, ok! I can deal with it. Tom is going to try it for three weeks too, and see if it makes a difference for him. He is Mr. Self Discipline, working out with weights and running very regularly, but seems to have reached a stand still where he can't make any progress. It would be great if getting more sensitive to his Leptin will help.

THIN: So when Talitha and I, and maybe Fillise, and Julia if we can talk her into it, get together, you want to come too, don't you? What a blast that will be! Why, we might be able to convince BOB to fly up for a weekend and join us! (Atlanta will NEVER be the same! haha!)

Thin: Way To Go on 3 pounds!! That's a nice chunk off!! ;)

Monet:  I missed you guys, too!! Have fun entertaining James' friend. That sounds...fun? Uncomfortable? I'm sure you'll handle it graciously...and she's lucky to be getting to know you, as well!! ;)

Talitha: Welcome back...I guess I'm new here since you were here before. Sounds like you are one busy person!! Looking forward to 'working' with you ;)

Well, I will finish replies later...the kids are giving me the 'oh, there she is at the computer again' attitude. I spent about four hours power cleaning the house when I got home. DH left dirty dishes in the sink when he went to VT on Monday morning and they actually had MOLD on them. I could have killed him!! And I had my mom coming to check the cat for me and DH knows how I hate to come home to a messy house after being gone away...I really, really hate it...and especially knowing my mom was coming over, he left the house in a total shambles. I hate a messy house, especially in the heat when the odors are the worst. BLEH!! I was so mad. So, now that I have two minutes to reply, the kids are giving me guilt sitting here...so I better go do something and then send them outside so I can reply to everyone properly and tell you all what I've been doing this week. We had a blast.

Okay...talk to you guys later...Kris

I feel so left out... :( I wish I lived in the south...except for the spiders...and the heat...and the tornadoes :fr: On second thought...

Okay, so now that the kids have had their breakfast, I put some color foils on my head and now I have to wait for the color to process, so I have an excuse to sit for a few. I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I've been a hairdresser for over 20 years (I graduated beauty school when I was 17!) and have always had my hair done by someone I worked with and we just swapped services. Then I moved here and don't actively do hair anymore and when I went to get highlights last time, the girl charged me $55!! I'm like, that's just against the hairdresser code of conduct!! I'm supposed to be doing HER hair in exchange, you know? Anyhow...there's a girl in my scout troop who's mother does hair and she and the lady that charged me $55 do each other's hair and it's almost like they've discussed me doing their hair and act like all 'she's not 'doing' hair anymore, so she can't be that good'...or something...because when I mention doing their hair, they say, "Oh, Teresa's got me covered', or "oh, Tracy was just over the other day". So, I feel like a third wheel, so I just slapped some foils on the front of my hair and took care of it myself...but I can't get to the back, but I can absolutely teach my daughter how to do it, so THERE!! Who needs 'em!! I just really miss doing hair and talking to the customers and being creative and doing cool things to people's hair...BUT, I get horrible rashes on my hands and arms from the chemicals, so I can't do it full time anymore. Which is why I was so pumped to do the hairdresser's hair in exchange for doing mine...oh, well...I have better things to stress about...

Anyhow...

BOB: Did I say 'Back atcha!" yet?

Teensy: Congrats on selling the boat!! And I hope your back is back to normal soon!! Nothing is more debilitating than a bad back!! So sad about the 17 year old...it's such a dangerous thing to do...

Okay, so...our trip to Rochester was so fun. I went to downtown where I used to work and visited my old boss and some good friends I miss. My kids were impressed that I actually used to work and that I worked in the 'big city'. I just used to think working downtown was annoying. Traffic jams and muggings aren't my thing at ALL!! I was always scared. Anyhow...my DH got us all season passes to the amusement park in Rochester called Sea Breeze. It's right on Lake Ontario and has been around since the 1800's. It's the perfect place for my kids because there are only about three rides my DS can't go on since he's small, but we went for two whole days and were exhausted by the end. I have pictures I'll try and send soon.

We also spent time in the hotel pool and visited with my best friend from the Penney's Hair Salon that I worked in for over 10 years and then went to my other best friend's 40th birthday party as well as my nephew's graduation party from HS. He's going to Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall and majoring in whatever it's called to learn how to create animated X-box-type games. He'll be great at it!! And I went to see my sister in her new half million dollar house. It makes me feel so dumpy and underdressed and ashamed of my little 100 year old dump. She always has candles burning and ecclectic music playing and I wouldn't feel so bad if she didn't always look down her nose when she comes to my house. She has a new inground pool with a built-in hot tub and like 5 or 6 huge bedrooms and a completely done-up basement and her own forest behind her pool/backyard. I just end up feeling so...white trash-ish when I've left. So, anyhow...

I'll feel better and perkier when my highlights are done, I hope.

So, DS has a story hour to go to at 1:00 and that will be nice. Until then, I have cleaning to do still...my lovely sister is coming up here this weekend and staying at my mom's house and I have to be on constant vigilance in case she stops by...my house may be dinky and very old, but if it's clean, I might feel better about it.

Okay...have to go check on my foils...and make something for breakfast. I'm just kind of depressed and don't feel like eating and I have to go shopping later on because I haven't got a thing in the house to eat.

C-yas later on!!

Kris

Hello all!

Tech--I want some highlights in my hair and I'd totally let you do them! I'd even do yours in return. Of course, I have no idea what I'm doing! Sounds like you had a great trip. There was a show on PBS last night about old amusement parks with the old rides--it was really quite charming. They were more family oriented and more like "picnic parks" with rides.

Monet--Good for you on the morning walk! I'm out of milk too, and Miss Belle let me have it this morning! She and I drank the last of it with our dinners last night and she is hot that she also didn't get her morning bowl. Sheesh.

Talitha--I think relaxing for the long weekend is just the ticket!!!!

Thin--WTG on the 3 lbs!!!!!!! Yippee!

Gator--mmmmm I think I'll get some cherries when I go to the store to get Belle her milk. We had the best cherries in Italy. . . . I want to go back!!!!!

Keng--Hey! I think you have every reason to be lazy from here on out! I suspect you need a little more rest than usual so be sure to take care of yourself and Jr!

BOB--HEY! Whatz up?

Heart--I am using SB to do the WW flex points plan. So I eat according to SB, but when I have something that would be off SB plan, I count it as flex points (we get 35 a week) and then I don't feel like I've "blown" it! It has really helped me in two ways. 1. Counting the points makes me pay attention to portion control, which was always difficult for me. 2. I have a framework within which I can eat out or have an occasional treat without feling like I've blown it. This has been very important for me. It might help you too. WW has a Core plan that is really (with a few exceptions) SB. You don't count points or portions you just eat from an approved list of foods until you are satisfied. Then you have 35 weekly points to spend any way you want--on any type of food you want. I choose flex over core only because I need to learn portion control.

Got to get to work now!

Have a great OP day everyone!
Susan

Hey, guys. Man, is it hot today! I was outside earlier and sweat was just pouring off me. Now I stink(plus I did a workout earlier), so I need to hurry up and get a bath. Anyway, I was shocked to see that the scale was down 3 #'s this morning from yesterday. So that means that I have taken all the weight my butt piled on last week and 1 more. I was 166 last week, today is 165. I still have 5 to go before I'm back on track(sigh). I have a roast in the crockpot for supper tonight, so we won't be eating out(good). I plan on making roast beef and cheese sandwiches. Yum. Here's my menu:

BF- orange and plain yogurt(with splenda and cinnamon)'
Lunch- will be leftover chicken breast, squash, and green beans
Supper- probably 1 fully-loaded(mayo, cheese, the works)roast sandwich with roast on the side

Tech-Congrats on being in a size 12! Yea, I hate alot of the styles too. Unless your a rail, they just don't look right. As for your sister, I used to feel like that at times when I go visit others who have it way better than we do. But I always remind myself that what good is it in the long run? God couldn't care less about who has a bigger better house, this world is just temporary. Remind yourself that you don't need materials to define who you are!

Just got in from the pool....sure was refreshing! I had some lunch, and will leave to do my volunteer stint at the church office in a few minutes. I plan on taking James' friend with me to help! :s:

I was pleasantly surprised to see the scale was down after swimming...I don't remember where I was last week. (selective memory? blocking out the painful memories? just plain ditsy?) At any rate, I feel encouraged. I have been eating more nuts, and good oils, and cutting down on starches. I guess it is helping.

Ok, gotta go...will check in later!

Hey again! I had a question I meant to ask earlier...Do any of you have any experience with freezing fruits or veggies? I'm trying to get into the habit of being better prepared to cook in the evenings, so it will be easier to eat healthy when we get back to school. It's always easier to cook when some of the preparations have been done already. I have the tendancy on a busy night to say "let's just stick a frozen pizza in the oven" :nono: I have been busy this last week cooking turkey meatballs to freeze and I found chicken for a great price the other day, so I separated it on a baking sheet and froze it so it's not all in one blob and I can pull out only what I need. Anybody else have any good ideas? Thanks! ;)

Thiin- I freeze evreything! I prepare homemade pasta sauses with fresh veggies and freese them. I make WW LAsagna or stuffed shells and freeze them, chicken and rice...

I buy fresh organic fruit and freeze them, even grapes. They make a great snack on their own, any I always have some frozen fruit in my protein shakes to add fiber.

Gosh, it is so hot and humid today. I feel like I am slowly melting away..lol. I am sorry I am still not able to do individual replies yet but I am definitely reading all the posts. Today is a busy day. I went to a daylilies farm this morning, not that I needed more daylilies now but dh wanted me to support the local daylilies farm plus this farm is run by our landscaper's mother. I went to get some more daylilies for the other side of the yard and no daylilies for me for a while :)

After lunch, Jess and I went to pick out some gifts for my next door neighbor whose birthday is tomorrow. We went to Bath and Body Works for some nice bath bath gel, shower gel, aromatherapy candle and some very wonderful smelling lotion. Hmmm...I wish I can keep all those because I am starting to like them...lol. Then, we went to Belk departmental store to get her a pair of earrings and lastly Publix to get her a birthday card. Gosh, it is hard to get presents for other people, I am just not good at it but hopefully I didn't do too bad.

I still have the bathrooms to clean, clothes to iron and later in the evening, I will have to plan the daylilies in the ground. They are just gorgeous! Fortunately, I do not have to cook today as I made a crockpot chicken (own experiment) last night and still have lots of leftovers to last for dinner. Tomorrow, the painter will come paint our house and it should lasts about 2 days. I am so excited to see the new paints. The Interior designer of Ethan Allen helped me picked out those colors and Jess will get her "new" room painted as well. We chose a nice lavender color for her room with an accent wall with darker shade lavender. She approved of the colors, so that is good...lol. After this weekend, dh and I will transition her to her new room on the other side of the house while her old room will be a nursery room for Junior. I am kind of sad so this is a transition for me as well :( I just realized that I have 2 months left before Jr arrives and who knows 1 1/2 months if he comes early. I have not done anything to get ready and I better get started.

My menu today :

Breakfast : Fried egg and cheese sandwich, 1 cup of soymilk and 1 small slice of cantelope.

Snack : None.

Lunch : Crockpot chicken with spices and veggies, basmati/wild rice pilaf and some green beans.

Snack : A small scoop of ice-cream in a small ice-cream cone. It was so hot so Jess and I decided to fix ourselves an ice-cream cone.

Dinner : Crockpot chicken, pasta and mixed green salad.

Snack : A cup of soymilk or if I am hungry, 1 sliced of ww bread with peanut butter.

Talitha, I am in Fayetteville, Fayette County. Glad to see you back!! The rest of the gang, have a good day!!

Hi gals,
Well, I've totally finished my afghan. I finished the last of the knotting of the fringe this afternoon and took a pix. of it so you could see it. I hope it shows up enough in the tiny picture that is attached. Monet, this picture is 49.5 kb!!! Just under the wire.

I walked this morning, like you did Monet. It was hot and humid, but I was determined to get those two miles in. I have to go to the grocery store and will get some more steps in. Didn't get too many just sitting and knotting.

Susan--I am so impressed with how you are doing. As I said earlier, you've last almost 30% toward your goal.

Monet--You won't be eating ANY grains? Just meat and veggies? Is that for forever? I thought whole grains, especially wheat, had some good oils in them.

I'll post more later and get in more replies.

Flying by again...just got in from picking the garden. Anyone want some cucumbers? I have TONS. I got a lot of cherry tomatoes, and noticed a few big tomatoes getting ripe! Woo hoo!

THIN: Berries can be frozen easily...you should not even wash them first. I have blueberry bushes, and I just pick them, pop them into zip lock bags and freeze them. When I go to use them, I wash them. If you don't wash them until go to use them, they freeze individually. I have always heard that buying frozen veggies is good, because they bring them in from the field, wash them, and freeze them, whereas, what you buy in the grocery store has been picked days, maybe even weeks, before you purchase it. That said, I know you can chop up tomatoes and freeze them, and bell peppers do very well chopped and frozen. You can just take out what you need to add to recipes. I will mix up several squash casseroles at a time and freeze what I don't need before I bake it. ( of course the squash is already cooked some...) My mother in law always had a spectacular garden (my father in law was a farmer!) and she froze all their veggies for the year. She would par boil them (basically put them into boiling water for a minute and take them out) and freeze them. She did lima beans, peas, green beans, tomatoes, and okra that way. She also froze collards, but usually cooked them almost done then put them into containers. Does that help? Another thing that would help you fix healthy meals quickly would be a pressure cooker. I can fix a stew beef to mouth melting tenderness in about 15 minutes. Meatballs in sauce take about 5 minutes. I fixed a 2 pound pork loin roast with rosemary and thyme yesterday in 15 minutes. Chicken breasts, boneless and frozen, cook in about 12 minutes. I highly recommend the Fagor Splendid line. They are very easy to use, totally safe, and I have had loads of fun with mine. I can fix refried beans from dry pintos to the table in less than an hour!

KENG: So, if we have a get together of all the Atlanta gals, are you going to come? We will wait until you are ready to venture out after junior arrives. AND, we can choose a place to the south, so it will be easier for you. Or maybe we ought to pick a place like that Malaysian restaurant on Buford Hwy! :s:

GATOR: The afghan is lovely. Doesn't it feel good to finish it? I started one about 27 years ago for my parents..it was granny squares using colors to match my mom's sofa. Both my parents, and the sofa are gone now...and I still have not finished it. In fact, I forgot how to do the granny squares. So I bought a book, and it helped some, but something is different in the way I am doing them now, and how I did the squares back 27 years ago..and its not just tension or size. A friend of mine who crochets keeps promising to look at it and tell me what she thinks... In the meantime, I am knitting! (another thing I suck at! :lol3: ) After about ten rows, I finally got up the nerve to try to purl and figured it out! As for the Rosedale diet, you don't eat grains for at least the first three weeks. Protein is limited, as he says if you over eat it, you will burn it like sugar, and store what you don't need. The whole diet is supposed to help your messed up system learn to burn fat again. Its aimed at folks with metabolic problems..especially those who can't seem to lose like you and I. If it works for me, you will have to try it.

Laurie: Thanks for the nice words. I actually have a motto that I have to remind myself to remember. For every person that I'm envious of, there's at least one person out there that's envious of something I have. So, I just have to remember that. ;)

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND TO ALL YOU BUSTIN BUDDYS!!!

OH MY GAWD.....am I glad that June is gone...it's been a rough one....last Friday, my Doc took me off my PAXIL and put me on LEXAPRO...we started at 10mg which is equal to 20 mg of PAXIL....I was fine until Wednesday...we were interviewing for an open position in our little group of 7 people and I had a TOTAL MELT DOWN!!! Snot started flying, tears started flowing and I actually had to leave the room! I cried all the way home, scared Kate to death, and I still don't know if it was too little medicine or menepause! I upped my dose the next day by 1/2 a pill, and today took two...I felt better today than either of the previous, so this might be my comfort zone. I've read so much lately how hard it is to quit taking PAXIL,and I really believe that now....It's been one of the hardest weeks that I've ever experienced! My DOC said that LEXAPRO will not only help with the weight gain (20 pounds so far) but will help control the menepause problems. COME ON HELP!!!!

SUSAN....does that answer your question on how I am?

KRIS...what a cute bunch!!! Your kids are adorable!

MONET....has SPA MONET become LOVE SHACK MONET????

GATOR...your afghan is beautiful!

TALITHA...I'm sorry you're having such a hard time...we're here for you and you know that!

JULIA...test your nerves....get on I-75 and come on down!!! You can do it...just keep practicing....BUFURD HWY will be a piece of cake before you know it!

I have a muscle that just won't let go, so I'm having a Trigger Point Injection on the 11th....Hope I get my meds regulated by then or everyone on here will hear me screaming when the needle goes in!

LAURIE

THIN

I'm off to recline....I'm watching the PACIFIER tonight....

EVERYONE have a SAFE HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!! http://bestsmileys.com/fireworks/2.gif

We finished up dinner a bit ago, and I sat and talked with Laura as she ate. She came in as we were finishing. We had soft tacos, organic whole wheat tortillas from Harry's Whole Foods of course, with lettuce, fresh tomatoes, organic lf sour cream, lf cheese, and mashed pinto beans, aka refried beans! I only ate one tortilla, and had a little meat on some beans. I ate a lot of lettuce. I had a snack of a handful of cashews, and a brown rice cake with almond butter.

Laura went to South Carolina after work with one of the guys she works with. We are about 1.25 hours from the border. They went to the fireworks store there and she spent probably about $100 on fireworks. The display in our cul-de-sac will be phenomenol! One of the ones she got is a cube about ten inches square and cost $23! She says that is her finale'.

TECH: Your sister may have lots of $$, but just as Laurie said, $$ shouldn't be the basis of your self worth, or happiness. Your house is historic and cute. You have made it a home. Your kids are going to grow up knowing they are loved, and will be well adjusted. You are happy. You don't NEED those things.. If your sister is judgemental, that is HER problem! Thanks for posting the pic! Your kids are so cute! So are you! :)

BOB: <<hugs>> Yep, it just the love boat around here... ;)

OH! And the best thing about tonight? Tom put the last ballister up tonight..the deck is DONE! ( it only took about a year! )

OOoooh, we're quiet on the weekends here.

We went over to the small village near our house and went to the farmer's market. I wanted to get some home grown tomatoes but even though we got there by 9 they had already sold out. Bummer. And the collossal shrimp at $10.95 were also all gone. Double bummer. I don't want to have to get up on Sat. mornings to get there by 8!! Now I'll have to run to Costco to get their gigantic shrimp 8 per pound at $14. We are going to a cook out on Monday and I said I'd bring the shrimp and grilled veggies. I also let them know that I'm watching what I'm eating so they (actually it's my sister and her DH) are fixing salads, fruit, chicken, etc. So I should be good to go!

I weighed this morning out of curiosity. I've done really well this week, keeping within the parameters I set for myself, except for Wednesday. Also, I've gotten a lot of steps in this week. But---I haven't lost any weight. It's too soon be be on a plateau! Plateaus aren't supposed to happen until you've lost 10 pounds, not 2! Bummer.

We walked all around the village and looked at all the big houses owned by the millionaires. I have over 9000 steps already. It was hot and I felt very draggy, but I hope to get the 10000 steps in today. Probably will work in the yard today, late afternoon when it cools off a little, and pull lots of weeds.

BOB--Hope you are doing well. Only 2 1/2 more months till the Mighty Gatory beat up on UT in Gainesville. LOL

Monet--Enjoy your new deck.

Talitha--Hope you are feeling better this weekend. I also hope you get to spend some time with Monet. She probably can give you some good advice re. other things that are happening in your life beyond Sugar Busters. She knows the Guy who wrote a really good book giving good life advice!

GOOD SATURDAY AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTIN BEAUTYS!!!

Here's some BOB HUMOR for your Saturday enjoyment!

Olaf and Sven were fishing one day when Sven pulled out a cigar.

Finding he had no matches, he asked Olaf for a light.

"Ya, shure, I tink I haff a lighter," he replied.

Then reaching into his tackle box, he pulled out a Bic lighter 10 inches
long.

Yiminy Cricket!" exclaimed Sven, taking the huge Bic lighter in his hands.

"Vhere did yew git dat monster??"

"Vell", replied Olaf, "I got it from me Genie."

You haff a genie in yor tackle box?" Sven asked.

Ya, shure. It's right here in my tackle box," says Olaf.

"Could I see him?"

So Olaf opens his tackle box and sure enough, out pops the genie. Addressing
the genie, Sven says, "Hey dere! I'm a good friend of your master. Vill you
grant me vun vish?"

"Yes, I will," says the genie.

So Sven asks the genie for a million bucks.

The genie disappears back into the tackle box leaving Sven sitting there,

waiting for his million bucks.

Shortly, the sky darkens and is filled with the sound of a million
ducks...flying overhead. Over the roar of the million ducks Sven yells at
Olaf.

"Yumpin' Yimmny I asked for a million bucks, not a million ducks!"

Olaf answers, "Ya, I forgot to tell yew that da genie is hard of hearing.
Do yew really tink I asked for a 10 inch Bic?

GATOR....You've not even noticed? I gave you some credit in my siggie????
Can't wait for FB season to start....ought to be interesting! I predict that THE VISOR MAN will make his mark on the conference!

MONET....We'll have to start calling you MONET STUBING!!!

I'm off to do some laundry....three days to complete!

Got up and went to weigh in this morning--down .5. Ugh, I guess it is better than not losing at all, but I'm ready to get off this plateau!!!! I'm leaving my signature the same because it doesn're reflect .5 so it will show a whole lb gone and I don't want to show it until it is gone!

I've got a quiet weekend planned. Which is fine since I will leave next weekend for NC and NYC. Still working on dejunking this house. For such a small house it is a really BIG job!

BOB--Sorry your week has been so rough. I hear you on the menapause stuff! They won't give me ANY hormones, so I've had to fight through. The first couple of weeks after my surgery I'd cry at the drop of a hat. Not fun--you have my sympathies. Changing meds is no fun--even when it might be better in the long run!

Gator--Sounds like you got a good walk in already this morning! I don't think Auburn plays either UF or UT this year. I think South Carolina has rotated into that spot this year.

Monet--Your dinner sounds delish! Keep everyone on the straight narrow at the Love Shack! So how is James' friend workin out?

Tech--What beautiful kiddies!!!!! Monet's advice is good--I don't think there is really anything I can add to that, so--what she said!

Keng--Ignore BOB. I'm not a nervous driver and I-75 terrifies me! That woman will get you into all kinds of trouble if you let her!

Talitha--I'm with you. I freeze everything too! I can only make spaghetti sauce by the stock pot full, so I make it a few times a year and freeze it in quart containers. Always handy because you can thaw it in the pot!

Thin--See my response to Talitha. Find what helps you to cook nutritious meals and not resort to the evil pizza!

Heart--glad to see the scale is on the way down!

Have a great OP day everyone!

BOB--Ya mean the BLUE skirt on the girl and the ORANGE (is that really orange?) shirt on the guy? Re Darth Visor, he has ALREADY made his mark on the conference. the UF -SC game should be interesting this year. We are going up to see it.

Fillise--No, we don't play y'all this year. But NEXT YEAR we get back into rotation with the Tigers. Think we have two years with AU. I always loved coming up to that game. We would stay at Callaway Gardens and drive up for the game. We always had to park in Timbuktu and never got a chance to appreciate the downtown of Auburn--except for that year we parked at your church, thanks to your generous offer. Hope we can meet you up there when we play at Auburn again.

We are going to New Orleans this year for the UF game in Baton Rouge against LSU. We are going on a Wednesday and will have a nice time in NO. One thing we are going to do is take a Segway tour of NO. The Segways are those people movers with two wheels that operate by gyroscopes. They are really fun to drive and ride and we are looking forward to that. I am already thinking ahead about resisting all the wonderful food in NO. I just love all that good stuff--jambalaya (white rice!), soft shelled crab (deep fried!), whatever etoufée (white flour and cheese), bread pudding with whiskey sauce (sugar, sugar, and sugar & white bread!!) and so on. If I am still on my plateau it will be easy to chuck it all!! No wonder Missy has problems with eating OP all the time.

We also are going up to SC to visit my DS and her DH the last week of July. My bil is the one who had the cancer. He is still having some problems--that cancer has affected him--and we want to go up to spend some time with them. We wil also drive up to the mts. for about 4 days to try to catch some cooler air. Then back to Greenville and then home. We will stay at an inn in the mts.--an inn that serves a candlelight dessert every night. Hmmm. Maybe if we have a late dinner at a restaurant somewhere we will get back too late for the dessert. Traveling is always a challenge to stay OP. Anyone have any good suggestions about how they handle traveling successfully?

Gotta go clean the kitchen.

HELLO FROM LAUNDRY ****!!

GATOR...I'm not sure about THE VOLS this season. We lost just about everyone who did anything right! If this season isn't a good one, I wouldn't be surprised if the FANS don't
revolt against PHAT PHIL!
I'm anxious to see what y'alls NEW CAPTAIN GATOR can do....and insider news?

SUSAN...I can't take estrogen either...My Doc is afraid because Kate's Mother died from complications to breast cancer. Poor Cathy will be the same way.
Since her Mom died from the same diagnosis...she has been very watchful to everything. My worry is that she has been tested on the probability and on a scale of 1-15, she is an eleven.

Hear from my Friends over in Daytona...they live right behind the track and NASCAR starts later this afternoon...don't know how they stand that!

Just finished dinner: meat balls on ww angel hair pasta ( I ate just a tiny bit..had no interest in the pasta for some reason...) stuffed eggplant slices (I posted the recipe a while back- they are yummy if you like eggplant!) salad and a diet coke.

James and his friend have gone to a movie, and Tom and I are going swimming.. ;) ;)

Laura is at work, as is her 'roommate' . Catch you all later!

GATOR: You are going to Greenville? How do you drive up there? Through Atlanta?

GatorGal
07-02-2005, 09:13 PM
Monet--No, we go to Greenville up I95 and then over on I26. But just pray that the Mighty Gators get to the SEC championship game in Atlanta this year and we definitely will be up there. Then we can get together. We try to stay in the Virginia Highlands part of town at the Lamplighter Inn.

Food today:
Breakfast--1 scrambled egg, 1 WW toast with 1 tsp butter, 1 ugli fruit (eequivalent to a grapefruit)
Lunch--1 sandwich of lettuce, tomato and avocado (1/4 avocado) with lo cal mayo on 1/2 WW pita.
Dinner--4 oz. roasted chicken (breast only) with 1 very small lo carb potato roasted along with the chicken. 1 green salad, 15 cherries.

Monet--Is chicken or fish considered meat by Rosedale? Or is meat just beef and pork?

I roasted a bunch of veggies this afternoon--zucchini, yellow squash, red and orange peppers. Tomorrow I'll do eggplant and onion, and maybe carrot. I LOVE roasted veggies. We are taking them to a 4th cookout. Also bought 2 1/2 pounds of HUGE shrimp, about 7 per pound. They are like little lobsters. We'll grill them, too.

Have a nice evening, everyone.

Tom is mowing, and I just planted my last poblano pepper plant. We are going to see the fireworks tonight. I really don't want to, but he does, so I will go along and keep him company. Aren't I nice?

GATOR: No way am I going to pray that the gators do well. (shudder) My blood is still Red and Black... :) Though I WOULD like to meet you! Rosedale says no beef, lamb or pork for the first three weeks. Chicken is ok, and he encourages fish...especially those high in Omega 3's, like salmon, mackerel, tuna and halibut. No grains for three weeks, then very very limited servings. Even after the first three weeks, he encourages no more than one or two servings of beef a week. He says if you can get grass fed, you can have it more like three or four. He also encourages organic chickens. You are supposed to limit your protein to the amount you figure out with his formula. Its supposed to be about 75 grams a day though. He encourages nuts, like almonds and hazelnuts. Cashews are to be limited a bit as they are higher in carbs. Peanuts are not ok, as they are a legume and legumes are not ok for the first three weeks, with the exception of very limited amounts of garbanzos in hummus. Healthy oils, like olive, avocado and almond are to be used liberally to help satiate and encourage fat burning. He has a list of supplements he recommends, and I am looking for the Carlson's Cod Liver Oil so I can try it. He says anyone with metabolic problems should be taking it, and a few others. Gymnema Sylvestre is another one he highly recommends. If chewed, it blocks the taste of sweet in the taste buds, but has had documented incredible results in helping with insulin resistance. The whole program really makes a lot of sense...and so far, I think the small steps I have taken towards going on his program have helped. I am not craving carbs, especially grains, as much. Time will tell!

Monet--Actually, right now, for the past several weeks, I have not really craved anything. I also notice that for the past 2 afternoons, I have not had a crash about 4 pm. and have been able to go to dinner without eating. I used to have to have a fruit or something to pick me up in the afternoon. I don't know how long this will last. Just eating a well balanced diet, with lots of veggies, whole grains, lean meats and protein has been working well as far as cravings. I just have not lost anything this week so far. The only two times I have had a craving is on Wednesdays when I come home from the Pregnancy center. After struggling with the goodies they have there tempting me, I feel deprived and want to eat to fill up that deprevation. I wonder about the Rosedale diet giving you enough fiber. When I had that gastro problem it was right after I went off most grains for over a month. I was not getting enough fiber and I am convinced that it brought about that attack that I had.

I'll have to say that we are alike in so many ways, EXCEPT for the color of our blood. :) Black blood, yuck. Now orange and blue blood is quite nice. :) Do you ever go to the Jacksonville game?

Ellen
07-02-2005, 11:48 PM
We went to the fireworks...it was actually kind of nice. Tom has gone several years with one of the girls and knows where to park and where to sit. We had a great place on the curb right across from where they were setting them off. It was cool and there was a nice breeze... When we got home, we were very bad, and ate a Klondike bar while we sat on the swing outside. :(

GATOR: I went to the UGA/UF game in Jacksonville when I was a freshman. We sat by the UGA band, and there was a poor lady who was a Gator fan who was sitting right in the middle of a large group of Dawgs... She was drinking too much, and ended up spilling Wild Turkey all over one of our group. Thankfully, the Dawg fans were not too nasty. Georgia won I guess is why... I went to very few football games when I was in school, and zero since...except for a high school game that a friend of ours was the coach for. ( His team won state and was undefeated.) I have told you that my sister went to Florida didn't I? She majored in Journalism. I wish I could remember when she was there, as she is older than I am. When were you there? It would be funny if you were there at the same time as she was! Even funnier if you knew her! As for the fiber, Rosedale includes lots of high fiber vegetables. You are supposed to fill up on them. I am not sure how much I get, but I never have a 'problem'. ;) I would imagine the amount of veggies and nuts fullfill the fiber requirements...

GatorGal

I started Sept. 60. Was an ADPi. The school of journalism at UF is top notch!

If you'll check charts on fiber, even though veggies are healthy, they don't have anywhere near as much fiber per ounce as grains or legumes. You have to eat a TON, and I'll emphasize a TON, of veggies to get enough fiber. That's why whole grains or dried beans or lentils are so good--you can 7 grams of fiber with a serving of dried beans. A serving of veggies might give you 3 at best! Shredded Wheat n Bran also gives 7 gms. fiber per serving.

Re. the dawgs, yep, in the 60's and 70's they won a lot of games vs. the Gators. My dh was in grad. school and we were married during the years that Spurrier was the QB at UF. The Gators lost some heartbreakers then, and Spurrier never forgot it. Our biggest "foe" will always be the dawgs. Although I think we are getting pretty close in being even with UGA in games won and loss vs. each other I think y'all still have a slight edge.
We started going to UF games when our kids got old enough to go and enjoy it somewhat. Now in the fall we have lots of 3 days weekends as we travel up to Gainesville and to out of town games. Our DD went to UF for 2 years and told us that on the student side of the stadium, the coke sellers--instead of yelling "Cokes" yell, "get your mixers here." It's getting harder to get booze into the stadium now, though, and I think the students bring it in in baggies stuffed down the front of their pants.

GATOR: I believe the Ga/Florida game is in the Guinness book of world records as the world's largest outdoor cocktail party! My sister picked Florida for journalism. Georgia's school of Journalism is pretty good, but very liberal.... My second oldest sister also went to Florida, but she only stayed two years, before she went out to California, and went to Berkley. I think my sister graduated in about 64 or 65. I will have to ask her. She was not in a sorority. My parents could not afford it. She was the second one to go to college...but there were four more after her! :)

It's just a fact....THE SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE is the BEST and most FEARED in the US....I LOVE IT!!!!

Just stopping by to say a big howdy! Hope everyones week end is going nice. DH is FINALLY taking down the old bedroom ceiling. I had my doubts he would ever do it. I'm afraid it will take years to get the bedroom remolded. We're barbequeing this week end. Had some steaks last night and tonight is probably burgers. They've banned fireworks in our town because we're in such a drought. Glad the Grandkids aren't here and where they can shoot them off. Thats so much fun for them. won't do personal replies I'm way to far behind. But have been reading everyones posts....

to step in between BOB, Gator, and Monet to remind everyone that we are celebrating the 4th of July! And not the beginning of Football

Now can I trust you gals to behave, or will the reigning SEC CHAMPION have to send you all to time-out until you can play nice?????;)

GatorGal

It's not my fault!! The only thing I did was to say I'd love to get together with Monet and it would take the Gators coming to Atlanta to do that. It was all the the SB spirit, of course!! LOL :)
Now that there are no college sports happening, we just gotta talk FOOTBALL. Hope our new head coach is better than the one just departed and as good as Visor Man. If he measures up to the hype, we should have a good season. But the proof is in the playing.
BOB--I was at Neyland Stadium 2 times, in 94 and 96, and both times saw Peyton go down at the hands of Danny Wuerfful. Also saw the same in 95 and 97 in Gainesville, except that in 97 it was not Wuerfful leading the charge. We stayed at an inn in Townsend Tenn in 94 and 96, and enjoyed our trip immensely. We are going back to Townsend in July and staying at the same inn. It definitely is pretty up there and we hope to do some hiking in Cades Cove and the surrounding hills. I agree that the stadium there in Knoxville is big and noisy, but not any noisier than the Swamp. And I also agree that there's nuthin' like SEC ball!!
Don't you agree Susan?

My DH and I went for a walk after lunch and got caught in a rain shower. So now my hair is still all wet. Got almost 10000 steps in today. Had meusli for BF and lunch had a tomato/avocado sandwich on WW pita. Also had some cheese, cherries and melon. Right now I am hungry and will probably have a big glass of iced tea. My weigh-in is tomorrow.

PS, wouldn't the 4 of us have a good time together at a football party about mid season. :) All we need is Fruit to almost have half the conference.

Gator,
Now you know that I'm a big fan of Peyton's BUT...in the 5 seasons that he played, he NEVER beat FLA....then the next season when Tee Martin took over, we won the National Championship! Nothing against Peyton, but some things are never meant to be! Kinda like THE COLTS beating NEW ENGLAND!!!

Hello everyone. Hope your all having a wonderful weekend. Ive had a busy one. Yesterday I headed to the grocery early and then had to take one of the dogs to the vet at 9am for shots then home to drop off the dog and head to the hospital to see my dad. We took my mom out to dinner later in the day and then was over there cutting back some hedges and my dad called saying he was getting out. So dh an I headed over there and it took us forever to help him get dressed and get his things together then getting him in the car , home and inside was stressful. Though hes glad to be home he is not doing very good even there. I dont think he has too much more time and he knows that now and is facing the fact but very depressed.
Today dh and I got up early and went to one of our bike trails near us and rode for an hour then had a little picinic lunch. It was a great way to relieve some stress. Ive spent the rest of the day working in the backyard.
Im growing red peppers this year and I can hardly believe how many I have one just one plant. Its got so many my poor plant started tipping over.

Im almost at the 2 month mark ( 2 days shy) of being on plan and sticking with the LF and Im at the 7 1/2 lb loss. But Im so happy with that after not losing anything for over 8 months. So if that continues I will be happy. I mean I could always wish for more but Im happy to just be losing again. And Im now 1/2 lower than the lowest Ive hit in 2 years.

Bob- sorry about the menopause problem. Mine has been quite mild and passed fairly fast . Im so glad. But I did have a couple months that I thought I was going out of my mind. It was horrible. People say its better once you get on the other side of it. Lets hope.

Fillise- WTG on the 1/2. Yup, its better than nothing. or even worse a gain.

Monet- Icecream and summer just go along dont they LOL. Thats one reason I havnt bought any. Id want to eat it all. Ive been sticking with sf fudgesicle and will only let myself have one a day.

Everyone.... have a great 4th !!!

Cindy--congratulations to you. You are doing great. :balloons:

Fillise--Yeah, I knew I'd bait BOB. She's so easy to bait! And fun, too. Too bad Peyton wasn't allowed to stay at UT a few more years. LOL :)
After several weeks of working really hard on SB, and with BOB's working hard on coping with the Big M and other assorted problems, we need a little levity like football yakking can bring. I bet the other non-SEC gals are horrified by our ribbing. Little do they understand the intricacies of SEC football and the "sisterhood" that it can bring. I can hardly wait for the first game!

OK, BOB. I deserve it. I can take what you're gonna give me. :)

Steps today 10661, which is lower than normal. I've been getting in the 13000s. Dinner was a 4 oz. hamburger of Maverick (hormone free, lower fat) beef on a small WW pita with tomato, catsup, onion and mustard. I had an earlier snack of leftover pot roast 3 1/4 oz. I needed some protein, I think, because it hit the spot. I met my eating goal today, within my parameters.

Have a great 4th everyone.

Just got in from church and dinner. We went to a pizza place and I got a gorgonzola and walnut salad. Delish! When we got home, James and his friend were just heading off to see a movie. I ate one of their leftover Chinese steamed pork buns. Naughty me!

I am NOT going to get into the football discussion, my friends. I am not able to keep the particulars in my brain at all. All I can remember is Vince Dooley was the coach, and one year Herschel Walker played really well..... :s:

See you all tomorrow!
