Oh goodness. This reminds me of my childhood and all the phys ed classes that embarassed me because I couldn`t run a mile at all, much less in 12min or whatever it was.
I'll have to look around more to see if I can get past that trauma. I like having fitness goals for myyself...

Lizzie - I couldn't do the mile in high school, either. I was so embarrased to always have to walk the majority of it and being the last one done. Thank God I had the bestest best friend ever who would walk with me, even though she could run the mile. I love her for it still (even though I havn't seen her in 10 years).

Maybe we should make it a personal goal to run that mile now!?!

That is so sweet that your friend would do that, especially in high school. By the time I got to highschool they had these other running things to measure fitness that I couldn`t do. They would play beeps that got faster and faster and you would have to race one other back and forth before it beeped again. I would always just give up.

I am currently pushing myself to jog, and I've run a mile.. 3 times so far! Every time I do it I get excited because it is overcoming one of my biggest fears/challenges from my fat childhood. I'm working now on going faster and farther, and hopefully one day I won't feel like the red-faced 12 year old walking around the gym.

I signed up for the President's Challenge, but I always forget to log anything on that site.

As for the running a mile, I am so with you ladies, I could not run a mile until this year. I was always last on the fitness tests, I walked most of the way, and I never came in under 12 minutes (except once, I came in at 11:30). I think running a mile is an excellent goal -- it was my new year's resolution this year! I started from absolutely nothing in January (I could only run 1/8 mile without stopping), but now I can run 4 miles nonstop! I'm slow, but I can do it!

Now I just have to work on my other new year's resolution -- to be able to do a push-up!

Ugh! Pushups! That is also a goal of mine. I have never been able to do one (well, the female version of course, but that's it).

I love the presidents challenge site--very motivating and I joined the 3FC group as well since I love to compare my results. Since I've been doing it for awhile I am 88% towards the silver award so I make sure to log in everyday. Good luck everyone! I am on my way to the gym right now...
