Quick survey... what is your current weight and pant size? I'm at 195 right now and wear 14's.

06-20-2005, 05:42 PM
I'm at 227, and wear 22 or 20 pants.

Edit: I'm 5'3" currently, but in a few months I'll be about 5'9" or so.

06-20-2005, 05:43 PM
219 and 16/18

06-20-2005, 05:46 PM

06-20-2005, 05:48 PM
146 8/10 (I'm 5'4")

06-20-2005, 05:58 PM
I'm at 228, 5'9, and wear a 16-18 or so. <OK, so the 16's are REALLY tight. *sigh*>

06-20-2005, 06:02 PM
5'5", 138, 4/6

171 and in a size 12 :)

06-20-2005, 06:26 PM
6 months and large maternity.

It's hard, because I have these skinny legs now, and where the small to mediums fit my legs, they aren't comfortable on the tummy, so I have to have the baggy large.

At 5' 6", prior, I was 140 and wore an 8. And before that, I was somewhere over 240 and wore 22s to 24s.

06-20-2005, 06:33 PM
I am 5'2 and weigh 152. Size 10 pants are a little too big, 8's fit but aren't comfy just yet.

06-20-2005, 06:57 PM
I have an apple shape. 22's fit my waist, 18's my butt. I can wear some 18s if they are loose enough in the waist. They fit me much better all over than the 22s which look like sacks on me. Starting to fit into some stretchy 16s.

5' 3", 217 this morning.

214 and I wear a 16, but sometimes an 18
I think I would squeeze myself into 16 until they busted though

06-20-2005, 07:10 PM
5'5", 195lbs, just bought my first pair of women's jeans over the weekend (Iv'e worn guy jeans for as long as I can remember)...size 16 but they are baggy :) I didn't even attempt to try on size 14, I guess I should have. I thought I would have to be ALOT smaller to fit into 14s...maybe this weightloss stuff is working after all ;)

06-20-2005, 07:49 PM
5'6 140 4/6/8 depending on the store..

06-20-2005, 08:05 PM
254 16/18. I'm 5'7"

06-20-2005, 09:18 PM
5'7, 255 and a size 20. It was a tight 20, though since I've started WW, I can wear my 20's without a problem :) :D :D

06-20-2005, 09:27 PM
I'm 5'2" 133 and I'm in a 6, 8 or 10, just depends. :)

06-20-2005, 09:40 PM
I am 5'6 and 202lbs and fit into size 18 - but can also fit into 20, but no pants are that cute so I never buy them - I have a big bottem :p

06-20-2005, 10:25 PM
dakotamidnight: ummm, how are you 5'3" now but going to be 5'9" in a few months?!??!?!?!?!

06-20-2005, 10:51 PM
dakotamidnight: ummm, how are you 5'3" now but going to be 5'9" in a few months?!??!?!?!?!

I've got a severly curved spine, Haleys, and after the surgery to straighten it out, I'll gain 4 to 9 inches. Thus part of the reason why I'm trying to get off the weight - they won't do the surgery until I'm under 200 lbs.

06-21-2005, 12:10 AM
5'5, 176, 16...soo close to a 14...my pants are loose on the waist, but tight on the butt and thighs

06-21-2005, 12:16 AM
5'9", 194#, and wearing size 18 tall in pants-- all my weight is in my hips/tummy/butt area, so sometimes a 20 actually fits there better but then the legs are baggy ::sigh::

06-21-2005, 03:53 AM
5'8", 193lbs. right now i'm wearing 16/18 sized jeans, back when i started i was at a size 20/22

06-21-2005, 07:49 AM
I'm just under 73 kg (160 lbs) and wear a stretchy 10 or comfortably a nonstretchy 12 I think. :sunny: I do a lot of weight training and have tons of muscle, so that coupled with the excess fat! makes for a huge butt and thighs! ;) Oh, yeah, I'm only 5 feet 1.5 inches

06-21-2005, 08:32 AM
5'8" 219 and wear a size 16/18 shooting for those 14's maybe someday 12's. Started out with 22/24's.

06-21-2005, 10:06 AM
I'm 5'5 (okay, okay, 5'4 and 1/2!) and I'm about 294 pounds, and I wear a size 22 pants but about a 28 shirt (and it's certainly not the B-cup boobs that are increasing the shirt size!) :(

06-21-2005, 11:36 AM
5'8"/231.5/Size 14/16 top and 18/20 bottom
I've got that "ghetto booty" as my husband so fondly refers to it as! :)
Thank GOD for Lane Bryant!!!! :D

06-21-2005, 11:55 AM
5'4" 136# size 8-10.

06-21-2005, 12:05 PM
size 10 fits just right, 8s are still a bit snug - but it won't be long!

06-21-2005, 12:10 PM
dakotamidnight: wow, thats great. good luck!!!

06-21-2005, 12:38 PM
5'4 316 lbs 26/28 jeans (just depends)

06-21-2005, 01:25 PM
5'2"/197.5 (the .5 is important :))/sz 16/18

06-21-2005, 02:09 PM
I got the same "ghetto booty" and I shop I Lane bryant and love it. I wear the 14/16 in the shirt, but is it me or are the shirts just don't quite fix right. I know I have a smaller chest (38B bra size), but I am not that small.

I hate going to one store for a shirt and trying to find the biggest shirt in the normal stores and sometime they don't carry my size /cry.If I do have my shirt and it's my size for some reason why does it look like it's 3 sizes smaller then it should be.:dunno:

If I go to Lane Bryant I have to always look at the way it cut. I feel kind of strange buying the ones with the gathering on the side of the chest area, they concave when i wear them lol.

06-21-2005, 02:58 PM
I'm 5'4, 162lbs, size 12. I still wear some of my 14's also, their just baggier.

06-21-2005, 03:14 PM
5'6 260lbs size 20 pants (although I haven't purchased any in a LLOOOONNNGG time but since that is the latest and greatest size I'll assume a 20.)
Size 18 tops!

06-21-2005, 03:41 PM
5'7 235lbs and size 18/20

06-21-2005, 04:52 PM
Hey Sweet.....
Tell me again what problems you are having with the way clothes fit at Lane Bryant. I work there and maybe I can help steer you toward some things that will fit better.........? I have a problem with tops, too. Now, I do have some big boobies - but my bottom is still bigger than my top and I have a small waist. So shirts fit weird, pants gape at the waist (except for pants from LB that have "stretch") if they fit my butt, thighs and hips....<sigh> It's tough to look good, but I have made a priority of it! That's one reason I work there - great discount!

06-21-2005, 04:58 PM

I generally wear a size 12 in pants, depending on the cut. The waists are usually a little too big, but I have to shop for the size of my butt/thighs, lol.

06-21-2005, 05:31 PM
From 192lbs to 154lbs, I have been a sz 14. I'm just starting to be able to wear 12s in some styles.

I'm 5'5"

06-21-2005, 07:26 PM
I am a size 16
weight: 199
height: 5'9

5'7 135lbs and size 18/20

Gemma- I think you got some conversion wrong or something, if you are

5'7 and 135 pounds you should be a size 8-10, unless you have a very odd shaped body lol...

06-21-2005, 09:27 PM
Gemma- I think you got some conversion wrong or something, if you are

5'7 and 135 pounds you should be a size 8-10, unless you have a very odd shaped body lol...
Two things that can affect the varying sizes. One is yes, our body shapes. But the second is how we prefer our clothing. Some of us may say we wear an 8-10, but we're squeezing into them and like our jeans to show off our form. Others may prefer a 10-12 and have them hang a bit lose for comfort.

However, now that I've gone back to see what size Gemma wears, I'm curious now myself as well. :)

06-21-2005, 10:23 PM
I'm a perfect example of the size doesn't always equal the weight. I'm 5'3", and wear anywhere from a 20 to a 24 in pans. HOWEVER, I have to buy this size so that my back problem {which adds several inches aronud the waist} will fit.

06-21-2005, 10:29 PM
I'm 5'8'' 152 lbs and wear a 6-8.

06-21-2005, 10:38 PM
I have SUCH issues with clothes at Lane Bryant! All of my friends head to the states to shop there, but last time I was in there all the pants came up to my boobs, and the sales person told me that they don't do low rise pants. And if they do it's only in jeans, and I am always desperate for dress pants. I'm hoping I can get to a 16 soon and then I can shop in "regular" stores.

I am also curious about Gemma too!

06-22-2005, 02:40 AM
I must have a weird body. I'm 5'3" and in a 10/12 at 136. I see some others in a 4/6 at 140 and only an inch or two taller. :?:

06-22-2005, 08:03 AM
:o Sorry! That was my mistake! I've edited my post now. I typed in too much of a rush, and it made me sound like I was an extraordinary shape! whoops.... :dizzy:

06-22-2005, 12:27 PM
I'm 228 and wear size 20 pants.

06-22-2005, 12:56 PM
194 - 5'2 - 16/18

06-22-2005, 03:14 PM
I'm 5 9 and 218lb. I wear UK size 18 (edging towards 16). I have some gap size 14s that I bought in the US a few years back (OK, about 7 years back...) which are just about to start fitting me now, so I guess that's what I'd be over there, don't know whether gap tend to be big, small or just right though compared to other shops.

06-22-2005, 03:21 PM
Oh I didn't realise you were so tall YP1, I don't hate you anymore!!!
(I was feeling a bit bitter that you're a size 18 and a similar weight to me!!!)

I am 5 foot 4 inches tall, and 227 pounds, I wear a UK 22 which is a US 18.

06-22-2005, 03:46 PM
Oh I didn't realise you were so tall YP1, I don't hate you anymore!!!
(I was feeling a bit bitter that you're a size 18 and a similar weight to me!!!)

I could make it worse. Today I tried on a pair of size 16 cropped jeans and they fit! Admittedly, they seem to be cut fairly big (I have the 18s which are already baggy and was trying them on to see how much difference there was) and everything else I fit into is an 18. But it's a sign I'm heading in the right direction!

06-22-2005, 04:26 PM
I am currently 237 and wear a size 22-24

Same Weight same Size here :D

I'm just getting into a 24 for the first time in about 10 years. It is the best feeling. I tried on these great capris at Macys about 2 wks ago and they didnt fit in the 24 and went in this past wknd and they were perfect. I am stalled on my weight loss too and they made me feel reassured that I am still losing something, maybe not weight but inches. Im hoping to be in a 22 by end of summer!!!

I am 5'4" and 245.5 lbs

Another apple shape here (184 pounds) -- so when pants have some elastic in the waist, size 14; otherwise, size 16. Did buy a pair of size 10s at Mervyns that fit -- but I'm assuming they were marked the wrong size.

06-23-2005, 09:47 AM
I live for clothes that are marked wrong like that. It's like some kind of psychological empowerment or something. ;)

06-23-2005, 09:59 AM
It's so weird how things vary.
I'm 5'2" 188 and wear a 14. I use 14 as an average because I was able to fit into a 12 recently but my clothes are mostly 16's because I refuse to go shopping everytime I go down a size. The 16's aren't huge on me where they are silly looking so I keep wearing them. When I'm comfortably in 12's, I'll go shopping again.

06-23-2005, 10:02 AM
I must have a weird body. I'm 5'3" and in a 10/12 at 136. I see some others in a 4/6 at 140 and only an inch or two taller. :?:
That does seem odd, are you sure you're wearing the right size? I'm 50 pounds heavier than you and can squeeze into 12's and I suppose in about 20 more pounds I'll be in 10's.

06-23-2005, 10:10 AM
181 lbs. / 5'4" / size 12 pants & shorts, size 16 or XL blouses (I have broad shoulders and big arms)

06-23-2005, 01:21 PM
very loose 20, comfortable 18s on the bottom, 14/16 on top. I can still wear my size 20 pants with a belt. I'm very pear shaped and my tops don't seem to be changing much yet. A little looser but definitely nowhere near a new size.

06-24-2005, 01:01 AM
im 5'3 and wear a size 18 jeans comfortably and weight 203. but i admit i rath wear a pair of guys jeans for one they dont cost as much and fit a plus size better. in guys jeans i wear a 37 inch waist oh and guys jeans actually fit my short legs lol

used to wear small in shirt - but now i gained some fat on my chest, it's a small/Medium size.
a size 9 pant is very loose (i don't have to unbutton it to take it off me) - but a 4/6 is a little tight. A 6/8 is a perfect right. (i didn't have america's size for the last 4 years so this is based on my knowledge of 4 years ago.). Now i wear clothes that imported from Asia directly - and they have ratio size (like 70/96 is my current size aka. for 70cm of waist and 96cm of hip)

07-03-2009, 04:04 PM

5'4" 185 and I wear loose jeans. I'm in love with my 16 juniors, but my 14 juniors are now a little loose on me. i haven't worn my 16s because of a hole in the butt. I wear juniors because my waist at the bend is 33 inches. While my POOCH where I like my jeans to sit is 42 inches and my hips are 40 inches.
my thighs are 24 inches around. so it's really hard to find clothes I really really like! If I buy woman's I get a fit on the waist but way too baggy in the legs!

07-03-2009, 10:30 PM
5'7 160 size 8/10 (10s getting loose, 8s getting not tight) aiming for a 6.

07-03-2009, 10:36 PM
189 and just starting to fit into 16's. 18's are still much more comfortable, but starting to get too loose.

07-03-2009, 11:16 PM

I'm 6' also. I weigh 236. 20's are very loose, but 18's are still too tight. Maybe after I lose another 14 lbs. I'll be able to wear those size 18 jeans in my closet.

I'm 5'9" currently 244 and just bought a pair of size 18 pants at Lane Bryant that fit just right.

wear size 16 top, that fits well, maybe ever so slightly snug, 18 is too big for most blouses for me. carry a lot of weight in my upper legs, otherwise pretty evenly distributed
