We are very talkative and I love it! Here's a new thread for us.
Susan had quite an adventure with that baby skunk. I'm glad the mama took it back. Isn't it that some animals won't take the young back if they smell humans? Seems I've read that.
It's a beautiful day. I started it by exercising - trying to exercise off some of last night's supper. :) We went to Chili's where I had a country fried steak (Chicken Fried Steak) and mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. It was delicious. I had done without all day to use my points last night. Larry really enjoyed himself. David gave him two CD's he'd been wanting a whole lot. I surprised everyone by getting him a portable DVD player and the movie, Hitch, with Will Smith.
It's hot here!!! The heat index is 98!
How is everyone doing?????
06-18-2005, 10:45 PM
Yea, I realized there was a new thread!!! :dizzy:
It was a big skunk adventure. We wore latex gloves to hold it so it wouldn't smell like us. It was so cute!!!!
It was a hot one here today. I still don't feel great so I choose to stay home tonight. Pat's band is playing and it's pretty far away. He even said "I think tonight you need to stay home" that or his girlfriend is coming ;) I sure hope she can cook and clean..... ya'll know I'm joking.
Thanks for starting us off Tina. It sounds like ya'll had a great night. I'm glad Larry was thrilled with all of his stuff. Pat asked me today what I wanted for my birthday. I can't think of one thing I want here on Earth!!!!!
06-18-2005, 11:39 PM
Why don't we all help Pat with Susan's gift. Hmmmm....
What does Susan want???????
I hope all the new people will find the new thread.
I've eaten too much today. Boy am I stuffed.
The other day, I bought a dress that was a little tight. I've got to work extra hard now to get down to that size. :dizzy:
06-19-2005, 05:26 PM
Wow the skunk adventure sounds exciting. I am glad the Momma came to fetch him.
Its a good idea not to touch any wildlife. Bunnies will abandon their babes. I know this from bitter experience(I was 4). :(
What does Susan want???
Its the end of another working weekend.
Hope everyone is having a good fathers day.
06-19-2005, 07:12 PM
Tammy.....welcome home. We want to know all about your trip! :)
06-20-2005, 01:43 AM
Well Susan wants Pat to send her and her "Wonderful" sister on a cruise. :D
Well I am glad that I don't have to claim Stinky as a nephew.
This has been a week for us and our pets. My 115 lb. black lab had ear surgery on Wednesday. He is doing much better but he has to wear a collar for 2 weeks and with him being so big and then adding to it his 30 in. collar, it is like living with Marmaduke.
My Spurs just wone so I am supper jazzed. :cheer:
One more game to go here at home. :cb:
06-20-2005, 09:43 AM
Happy Monday :):):):):)
Hopefully everyone survived the weekend. I hope we all honored fathers everywhere. The three of us bought barbecue and extras and ate at home. Last night we went out with friends. I think Larry had a good day.
Amy, I've never heard of a dog's cone collar weighing that much. Poor doggy.
Susan, no one has helped me figure out a birthday gift for you. :o
Let's all drink our water.
06-20-2005, 10:06 AM
Amanda, congratulations on the job!! Keep us posted on how it goes.
Susan, baby skunks? Oh my!! Maybe Pat could get you a cage and you could have skunks for pets. You might need some Glade air freshener if you do that though.
Amy, poor puppy!! How long will the collar have to be worn?
Gettysburg was wonderful. That was our 3rd trip there, and I still saw things that I hadn't seen before. I tried not to overdo it. I took naps each day. I did some of the battlefield stuff, but I was smart and took lots of breaks. I also did the outlet mall. Very nice. I didn't make it through all of the stores because I'd go take breaks at the food court. Drank too much Diet Coke. lol It was nice though to just sit for a while and let the back pain subside. I had a book with me, so that helped pass the time. Tim and I went on a Ghosts of Gettyburg tour. Heard lots of interesting stories, but we didn't see any ghosts. Darn.
We got home yesterday. Everything is unpacked, laundry is all done, and the yard is mowed. Very productive time on Sunday. Today Bob had to go back to work at 6:30. Tim works at 4. I'm just hanging out. I was up at 6:30, read the paper, played with the dog, I've been on the computer for a while, and now I feel like taking a nap. I know that I need to go to the grocery, and also need to get some final things for Tim to take to Europe. He leaves for Bowling Green for the 3 days of practice on Friday. We go for the concert on Sunday night. We are staying at a hotel that night instead of driving home late. The concert doesn't start until 7:30. It will last 1 1/2 hours at least. Then we spend time with the kids. It's close to a 3 hour drive home. Bob won't work on Monday morning.
06-20-2005, 03:03 PM
....or rather, not a date.
On Friday, I was supposed to meet this guy for dinner--I had 16 points left to use, so I figured I was in good shape. Only, when I went to pick my son up, he was running a temp, and when we drove over the railroad tracks (bumpy) he screamed in pain. So instead of heading to the steakhouse, I headed with my dear son to the ER, where they determined a high likelihood of appendicitis. Yikes! So, cancel the date, call in to work for the next morning, and wait for many hours to see if the "attack" was true or not. :stress:
Did you 10% of appendix attacks cannot be seen on the CAT scan? Turns out he was one of the 10% who were "undeterminable" via the CAT scan, but he didn't continue to worsen overnight, so they let him go at 4pm Saturday. Whew! Glad he's okay, but the doc says to "improve his diet" so that the ahem....constipation....isn't such a problem anymore. Yep, that's right, he was full of....it. :D
My son, bless his heart, told me "Don't worry, Mom. I was just saving you from your next bad boyfriend." Ugh.
So...that was my exciting weekend....
06-20-2005, 05:43 PM
Jody, I'm so glad your son didn't have appendicitis.
Tammy, welcome home. It sounds like you did quite a bit and had lots of fun.
Susan, any more baby skunks? :)
Sis, how are you doing?
Mimi, what's going on?
06-20-2005, 11:23 PM
No new baby skunks. We've been on the baby skunk look out.
I did get a deaf ed job. I'm really excited about it. They are not sure exactly where I will be but that's ok with me. It's not in the district where I taught before so it will be different.
Hope everyone has a great day.
06-21-2005, 07:18 PM
Before I give you guys an update on my job, let me just b*tch about how RUDE the people are on the community forum on the actual weight watchers web page...I wont go into much detail, cause it's pointless...but some of the people over there really stomped on my excitement, and quite frankly, I'd like to use a string of not so nice words to describe them right now...
That being said, I LOVE MY NEW JOB. It's absolutely wonderful. The people are nice, the work environment is great, I'm doing Information Technology work again. I'm able to ride public transit and avoid traffic. (It's cheaper than the parking decks anyway), and I have a cubicle! Yeah, I'm excited about the cubicle, cause I've never had one before. I dont even care that I'm having to share with the other intern. No big deal - especially since I come in to work earlier than him and had alreay claimed my "spot" before he had a chance to...I was a vulture - organized it the way i wanted to before he had a chance, hahaha!
Best part of it is, I dont feel like a total dork around everybody. Everything they have taught me so far, I've had the basic background knowledge on and have picked up the concepts very easily. It is SO NICE to FINALLY be in a job, in the field I want to pursue as a career, with a group of people who understand where I'm coming from. The pay is incredible, and ...even though its still new to me right now, I have a feeling that it'll be a LONG TIME, if ever, before I wake up and dread to go to work that day.
<yawn> well, I do have some homework to try to catch up on. Hope everyone is doing well. Y'all have a good day.
06-21-2005, 10:52 PM
Jody, how scary for your son!! Glad things are ok. So much for the date.
Amanda, that's wonderful about the job!!! Poo on the people at the other thread. I've never been there. Maybe that's a good thing?
06-21-2005, 11:35 PM
I used to go to that site and then they changed it all up. That was several years ago. The forums are stupid and crazy now. I go look at the recipes sometimes.
Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
06-22-2005, 11:17 PM
How is everyone doing today? I've eaten everything that has not been tied down. I was up 2 pounds today when I went. I'm going in the wrong direction. I think it's because of what I ate last night but I'm not going to worry about it.
06-23-2005, 09:55 PM
Susan, I did ok eating today for the first time in ages. I have been cramping forever so maybe TOM will hit soon. It hasn't happened since the beginning of May. Stress from school and Tim leaving for Europe could make it not happen.
06-23-2005, 10:19 PM
Getting ready to watch the Spurs! Hopefully they will win..... If you happen to hear any ruckus in your neighborhood it's probably my sisters! ;) They love the Spurs.
Please say a prayer for Amy and her family. Her husband's grandfather (grandmother's second husband) passed away. His grandmother has lost 2 husbands and her son. My heart goes out to heart.
Tammy, I either have killer cramps or a migraine. I'm not sure which one I would rather have :dizzy:
Tina, are ya'll melting? It's so hot and still here. I'm sure we are in for a killer summer.
I've decided to make a butterfly garden. It's going to be my Seamus garden. I'm anxious to get out there and start it but first I have to make sure that the poison ivy I'm growing is good and dead!!!! Let me know if you would like some :D
06-23-2005, 10:24 PM
I started to say, "it's Friday"------this week has been so mixed up for me.
Tammy, I hope the cramps go away soon and you feel better.
Susan, I know the feeling of eating and eating and eating. I've been a good girl this week and still can't move my tracker. :(
Tell us more about the butterfly garden. What will you plant to attract the butterflies?
Sis, Mimi, Amy, Maureen, Jody......how is everyone.
Amy we are so sorry for your husband's loss.
06-23-2005, 10:30 PM
I'm just in the planning stages of the garden. I've been looking up what kinds of plants to use. You plant different types for the different stages of a butterfly (hope that makes sense) I'll keep you posted on how it is going and then post a picture of it when I'm finished.
06-24-2005, 02:02 AM
WHOOO!!!!!! YEA SPURS!!!!!!! :cb:
I hope that I didn't disturb any of ya'll too much. My 2 oldest babies (8 and 4) told me, "Mommy, you are being too loud. You hurt our ears." :cp:
What a game!!!!
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
I will not be sleeping tonight.
On a different note, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. My husband wnet out to GA for his grandfathers funeral and I stayed here with the kids. Our kids are 8, 4, and 2 and too young to understand. Except I say that and you would not believe the beautiful things that they say about our beautiful angel Sťamus.
06-24-2005, 02:58 AM
Hey, I keep dropping in and out every couple of months. I previously lost 15 pounds, but I've gained most of that back during the last couple of weeks of the quarter (finals). Anyway, my roommate said I couldn't restart my membership for 6 weeks. Does anyone know if that is true? And what membership costs if its not on special?
06-24-2005, 08:33 AM
Amy, you and your family are in our prayers. Take care. You'd be surprised what little ones can understand. It amazes me sometimes.
Jessica's mom and I are taking the kids to Bowling Green this morning. Glad we're taking our van. The AC in theirs is broken. It's supposed to be in the 90's today.
Susan, the butterfly garded sounds neat! I've heard of people doing that. Right now we have a wasp garden apparently. We have oodles of wasps around here. I'd much rather have butterflies. Or even poison ivy!!!!
Welcome back Pseudo!! I don't know what the "rules" are for membership. I wouldn't see why you couldn't start back when you wanted. Also, I have no idea about the costs. You can go to the WW website and type in a zip code and check the prices for the meeting place where you go. That might help. They also might have a FAQ section there, but I'm not sure.
I guess I should go get ready. We're leaving in about 30 minutes (if J and D are on time, lol). I'm not dressed, the bed isn't made, no makeup on, etc. Am I a procrastinator or what?
06-24-2005, 10:57 AM
I am still around but not getting on the computer much. I am home today when I checked the inbox on my email there were 87 messages. :^:
Tina I stared at the one you sent me for about 2 minutes before I got the joke.
My oldest is 22 today. I can't believe how fast the time has gone.
Have a great weekend.
06-24-2005, 11:21 AM
Is everyone having a good day so far!!!!!!!
Pseudo, you can start back any time you want to go. I don't know where your roommate got that info. Please get back as soon as possible. :D
Tammy, I hope y'all are safe traveling. No a/c wouldn't cut it this time of year.
Susan, yes, it's hot down here. We actually have a 10% chance of rain tomorrow. :dizzy:  :dizzy: My water bill is going to be high for this month. A friend said hers was over $200.00! Now, that's way too high. That sounds like my electric bill in the summer. :o
Mimi, we really miss you. Turn on that computer more often.
Sis, where are you, friend???????
Amy, I'm happy your Spurs won.
06-25-2005, 09:31 AM
Mimi, I agree with Tina! GET BACK ON HERE MORE OFTEN!!!
Our trip was nice yesterday to take the kids to BG. Darla and I both cried when we left them. Silly because we'll see them Sunday night when we go back up for their concert. A mom thing I guess. We've been planning for this trip for over a year. I can't believe that it's here!
Bob and I walked at the track last night. I know I slowed him down, but it was nice because we chatted the entire time. There was another teacher and her hubby there too. She was one who was RIFed and was just called back. They are starting a pre-school, and Cindy will be in charge of it.
I'm meeting Bob for lunch today. He left me a note when he left for work to meet him at 11 if I'm interested. Yep! I'm interested!! I think I'll go start some laundry before I get ready to go. We are either the dirtiest or cleanest people around. There are always huge loads of towels and washclothes to be done. lol
Have a great day everyone!!
06-25-2005, 01:13 PM
Is everyone doing wash today? :)
Tammy, I'm with you--I don't see how we can be so dirty. If I let things go a few days, the hamper starts filling up.
I'm glad y'all made the trip and back okay. Crying is okay, too.
Does anyone like to iron? That's one thing I wish I could hire out.
I did so good first thing this morning. I had hot tea and yogurt. Then, Larry and I went riding around and stopped at a McDonald's to use the restrooms. He got a breakfast sandwich and I had a McGriddle w/sausage. I know I was terrible. Something just came over me---hunger.
Everyone have a wonderful day.
06-25-2005, 02:58 PM
I don't have to iron. Bob does it!!! No kidding! We even bought him a new iron for Christmas a couple years ago. He did it as a kid, and then when he was in the Marines, people paid him to do their clothes for him.
Tina, those McGriddles are so good! I like the ones with sausage also. Bob and I went to Arby's. I had a MarketFresh Turkey and Swiss. Yummy. Talked to my nephew while we were there about feeding Kramer and letting him out tomorrow night and Monday morning when we go to Bowling Green.
Tim has called twice today. first time to tell me that maybe I should bring more allergy medicine when we go up tomorrow. 2nd call was to tell me to bring more Aleve.
Towels are now in the dryer, and I have shirts in the washer. Nap time????
06-25-2005, 03:41 PM
Tell Tim that we all hope he has a wonderful trip to Europe and we'll be expecting souvenirs.
Your lunch sounded good. Y'all be careful going up there tomorrow. I'll be thinking about you.
06-25-2005, 06:36 PM
Not washing here!!! Did that yesterday. :)
I slept late this morning until 8:30 (would have been later if my mom & Amy hadn't called to sing Happy Birthday) :D It's the thought that counts. We went to McDonald's for breakfast too. I had an egg mcmuffin, then we went for a long ride. Had lunch at a Greek Restaurant. It was pretty good, then to Petsmart to see the White Pyrnesse dogs. I've been telling Pat they were coming for about 2 weeks. I love those dogs. I think we are in for the day, it's just too hot to be outside.
Tammy, I would cry too. Tell Tim and Jessica to have a great time and be careful and to bring his Aunts something good.
Tina, I've never had the McGriddle. Too bad we werent' at the same McDonalds.
Mimi, YES, please come back more often. We miss you!
Amy, thanks for picking up flowers for mom. (I always buy Mom something for my birthday. Amy is often my florist. ) :D
Ya'll have a great day.
06-25-2005, 07:48 PM
Happy Birthday to our Susan!!!!!
06-25-2005, 09:31 PM
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WONDERFUL SISTER (SUE)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Ok I have to go back to watching my Spurs celebration parade. :D
06-26-2005, 01:12 AM
Amy, Thanks for the birthday song. It was just beautiful :D How about them Spurs!!!!
06-27-2005, 01:56 PM
:^: Thanks for all the sweet comments about my son's non-appendix attack. ::sigh:: If you think it's tough to change your own eating habits, try changing an 11-year-old's whose rationale is "But, mom, I'm a kid. I'm supposed to eat all that junk food while I still can." :mcd:
Amy, I don't know the whole story, but I wanted to say that the name "Seamus" is so beautiful--it's one I would have chosen for a second child, if I'd ever had one. I sense a lot of pain and grief in your words about him, but also a lot of hope and strength. Whatever it is you're going through...well, every time I see his name, I smile. I hope that helps?
LOL at the wasp garden...I've seen butterfly gardens, too, and the thought of a wasp garden was just too funny. I think I should plant a money garden. :)
Had the "make-up" date Saturday night. Nice guy, good-looking, seems stable. Wonder if he's got someone buried in his basement? :^:
06-27-2005, 07:18 PM
Godess you crack me up. Just to let you know my second son Dan who is 18, 6'2" and 300+ pounds has lost 30 pounds in the last year just by me improving my diet. He was the world's worst eater and would not even let a vegetable or fruit on his plate. He still hates fruit but will eat lots of veggies now even salad. Those new all bran cookies are pretty good. Do you think your son would try them? How about raw apples, carrots? Also remember that WW staple water. Hope that helps.
06-27-2005, 07:21 PM
Susan happy belated birthday! Hope you had fun and were a little bit bad. ;)
06-28-2005, 12:24 PM
Happy Birthday Susan!!
Goddess, check private message.
Tim called from London this morning to say that they made it safe and sound. What a relief to hear his voice! I'm being lazy today. My TOM finally started and it's been flood central (I know, TMI). No energy at all. even less than usual.
06-28-2005, 02:12 PM
Tammy, I'm so glad Tim called and everything was fine. We need that reassurance, don't we. ;)
06-28-2005, 04:03 PM
I hope everyone is doing well. I've been lazy today. I just woke up from a hour and half nap. I can't believe it. I haven't gotten anything done and I should be doing things.
I hope that I see some kind of loss tomorrow. I'm afraid if I don't I might just give up. I just can't seem to get back on the right track.
Tammy, I know it was a relief to hear Tim's sweet voice. I hope they have a great time over there.
Tina, I've been thinking about you.
Mimi, thanks for the birthday wishes. Honestly, I wasn't too bad this year. :D It was good to see you posting.
Goddess, thanks for the sweet words about my precious Seamus.
Amy, keep up the good work, wish we lived closer to each other.
06-28-2005, 05:02 PM
We need our cheerleader here!!!!! Tammy are you still the one??? :D  :)
Susan needs help here. Miss Susan, no matter what the scales say tomorrow, you will not, I repeat, you will not give up!
You can do this!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cb:
(Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts.)
06-29-2005, 08:13 PM
Thanks for being my cheerleader!!!! Well, I didn't have a loss but I didn't have a gain either. I was the same. I'm going to really watch it this week and drink LOTS of water.
Hope everyone is surviving the HEAT~!!!!!
06-30-2005, 11:13 AM
I hope everyone is staying cool in the HEAT. It is suppose to be 99 today here in San Antonio.
Sue- staying the same is good. We you start back to work I know it will start coming down. Also, thanks for the sisterly advise the last couple of days.
I have had a stomach bug since Sunday and felt totally blah. I hope to make it to a meeting tonight or in the morning. I wll just use my "No Weigh in coupon"
I just got invited to the National Girl Scout Convention in Atlanta, GA in October. The only thing is that I really want to go (Since Girl Scouts is my main focus since I stay at home with the kids) but I have a hard time going off and leaving Rob and the kids, since it is not a "Work required trip".
What a delima!
Hope you all stay cool.
06-30-2005, 02:01 PM
I made another trip to the vet with the other dog today (she hid under the barn the other day so I couldn't take her). I seem to make regular visits there. :) Good thing I like them.
Amy, GO GO GO!!!!! You will have fun and deserve to go. Rob can take care of the kids!!!! ;)
Ok, my new favorite food is frozen turkey dogs. Crazy isn't it!!!!
07-01-2005, 11:38 AM
Hi all. I haven't forgotten you all. I just have been very tired and HOT the last couple of weeks. They have had us wking 7 days a week again. :( I think it may be going to slack off but we're not sure yet. The temps have been in the 90's here!! That makes the humidity WAY TO HIGH! Our usual temps here in western MI are usually in the low to mid 80's this time of yr sometimes getting into the high 80's. Once in a while we would hit 90 but not often and we've had over a week of it. YUK!
Got a question. Has anyone ever heard of hyperinsulinism? My dd has been diagnosed with it. They seem to treat it like they do hyperglycemia. It is having to much insulin being produced by the body. DD is doing wonderfully trying to stick to the diet that requires limiting carbs quite a bit (fruit is acceptable) and increasing fiber intake. She seems to be losing wt. She needs to lose about 25 lbs. Hopefully that will put this in control. She is 12 and is about 5'10" so its not like she is really big or anything. I just hope we can fix this. Anyways if anyone has dealt with this any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I am hoping to be able to if they cut back on my hours at wk. At least my hubby can be home wth dd on the week ends. That helps. We also got a new puppy. She is so cute. A yellow lab. She is such a stinker. :) Our other dog seems to like her now though. :D
Have a wonderful week end all. Take care .....Sis :D
07-01-2005, 10:13 PM
Don't post here anymore. I'm starting the July Chatters thread.
