Thanks, Monet, for starting the board as you do so faithfully every week.

I have lost 4 of the 6 pounds I gained last month. I was very faithful last week, except for one day, and even kept track of my calories. I stuck to fruits, veggies and lean meats. My one day slip: Saturday where we went to a party and then had people over for dinner that night. At the party I tried "one" (count it--one) Dorito corn chip with salsa and sour cream. After that one, it was a landslide and I must have eaten 15 of those things! Then we came home and had friends over for a French dinner: a whole chicken stuffed with herbs and roasted atop a big crosswise slice of a round French loaf that had been drizzled with olive oil, and topped with sautéed onions, crushed garlic, tomato slices, herbs, salt and pepper. The chicken was nice and brown and juicy and tender and all the drippings went down into the bread, which crusted up beautifully in the oven for the 1 1/2 hour roasting time. We served the bread in wedges, along with the chicken and a nice green salad. Then vanilla ice cream and cherries cooked in red wine with a touch of sweet butter and sugar. So that was totally off SB, but those things happen and I'm back on the straight and narrow this week. I have had my legal breakfast and have walked my 1.5 miles and have 4600 steps so far.

As for a new recipe, hmmm. Well, perhaps the above chicken recipe, but instead of the bread, one could roast it over a bed of cooked brown rice. Details? Be sure the chicken is a "farm style" chicken, such as Smart Chicken brand or any air chilled chicken. You can get Smart Chicken at Publix. Also, rub salt and pepper into the chicken skin and stuff the inside with crushed garlic, salt and pepper, and thyme. Brown the chicken well in a big skillet before setting atop the rice, and cook for 1 1/2 - 2 hours at 325°. I used a 4 pound chicken. Brush the chicken with about 3 T. olive oil before baking.

Now, the water. Well, I have been having a BIG problem drinking 8 glasses of water. I'm just not thirsty and get down 5 to 6 at best. Any suggestions?

I'm still sorting out my pictures but hope to send Monet 6 or so pictures today for posting if I can get them sized right here.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all!

It is wonderful to see the sun shining this morning after a rainy weekend!

I had a post last night that did end of the week replies to folks. It was a quiet weekend for me. Belle and I stayed inside most of the weekend because it was so rainy.

I'm doing well with my water now. I have a rubbermaid container that I fill and drink three times to get my water in. The problem is that I'm in the bathroom every 20 minutes ALL AFTERNOON! I have a two hour meeting this afternoon and can see that's gonna be a problem!:o

As for a new recipe--this is really simple, but I had it for dinner my last night in Italy and made it last night. It's a steak salad. You use any kind of salad greens and veggies you like dressed with olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper. Add about 3 oz of sliced steak and then top with shavings of fresh parmesian cheese. So simple, but soooo wonderful. It was as good last night as I remembered it being in Milan. It is entirely OP too!

Gator--Mmmmm, your roast chicken sounds wonderful. I'm glad to hear that those vacation pounds are coming off. I hear you on the chips--what was that old advertising campaign--"I bet you can't eat just one?"

Monet--It sounds like you had a good celebration for Laura. I hope you can get some pool time in this week--but you have that wedding Saturday, don't you?

I hope everyone has a good OP week!

Good Morning! I just got in from a walk. I think I got in a mile and a quarter, but it was 20 minutes of walking, which will probably be how I count it for a while. :) I need to get back into exercise and even with a busy week, I went. I have made excuses for too long. :(

So far this morning, I had two ww waffles with agave, and a cup of espresso with half and half and agave. I am working on my second quart of water. I have decided this is the week I turn the corner. Next week, I may do some detox to get back on the straight and narrow, and undo the damage my indiscretions have caused. I have told myself I will take six weeks for ME. I will do some projects around the house, and teach the Thursday morning kids art classes I have commited to, but nothing else. I plan to clean, swim, workout, garden, play and stay on program. A friend of mine, who is a nurse, used to say you need to give your house an enema every six months. Its been three years for mine, and it needs detoxing as much as my body does! My closets are stuffed, and all my storage space is full. I have a large house, and this is not acceptable! So, I will pretend that we are moving and start cleaning out stuff I don't need! Besides, I need to find a good place to store my new pressure cookers! ;)

Like in Fillise's neck of the woods, it is beautiful and sunny here. I am enjoying the sunshine. I do have to bake cakes today, and make meatballs, but I am feeling upbeat and like I can handle it. I am just praying I don't forget anything important!

I will be back later!

Oh my goodness you gals are making me hungry. Both the recipes sound so good. Heres mine and I forgot where I got it from. 16 oz. package frozen cauliflower, 8 oz. cream cheese softened, 8 oz. shedded cheddar cheese, 4 green onions, chopped, 1/4 teas. salt and 1/4 teas. pepper or to taste, 3 pieces bacon, chopped and fried until crisp. Cook the cauliflower until soft, about 8 to 10 min. drain very well and break up florets a bit with a spoon. Put in a greased 8X8 baking pan or 2 quart casserole. Mix in rest of ingred. Dust top with paprika, if desired. Bake at 350 for 20 to 40 minutes, until browned and bubbly. Makes 6 servings. Can be frozen.

My company has left now and visiting with my brother was just great. I try to do good old home cooking for him because his wife isn't a very good cook. So my eating was not the greatest. But I'm back on track and going again. I'll take the gain this week and hope the week after is better. I have lots of housework to do so will get busy. Be back later...

The first picture is one of the irrigation canal that runs for MILES in southern France. It was just below our house and we walked along the footpath beside it most every day. Beautiful and shady with great views, one of which is picture # 4, which is also the view from the back of our house, where you can see the Mediterranean. Cannes is just off the left edge of this picture.
Picture #2 is the front of the house where we stayed for the 2 1/2 weeks in France, and picture #3 is GatorGal at the French Riviera in Cannes. Yes, many of the women do go topless on the beach, even women with droopy boobs! Picture #5 is a typical sidewalk café in a small town near us. Notice the very narrow street where a car might (and might not!) be able to fit through. My DH is the man in the blue.
The next post frame with the 2 pictures: picture # 1 is me at the cooking school in Italy, chopping zucchini for zucchini/saffron soup. The chef is the older man in the background. And the last picture is our view from the foot path hiking trail of one of the little towns that cling to the rocks above the Mediterranean in the Cinque Terre (five lands) in Italy.

Good morning SB buddies,

Sorry for missing in action. I got a little lazy again :) Last week has been quite an eventful week. Dh and I have decided to furnish our family room and we have been working with a designer at Ethan Ellen. Dh was really thrilled with the layout of the furniture placements, ideas for fabrics etc. Infact, he was more excited than I am. I wasn't sure if we are ready to do the whole family room but he said, it is time :) We went ahead and pay downpayment for our furnitures to get the process started. The furnitures will take about 8 to 12 weeks to be ready. Now, all we need to do is paint some walls before the furniture arrives. We were planning to do it anyway when we do some touch up around the house so this is just perfect. I saw the paint color I like at the showroom at Ethan Ellen and the interior designer will incorporate the color into our design. I love working with her and she has been very nice and accomodating. It feels nice not to feel like we are being pushed to buy anything. She kept reminding us that we do not have to buy everything (she put together our family room for us), just whatever we need now and definitely don't have to buy now. However, dh was ready and so was I.

My second highlight is that we sold our first spec home. My dh is a part-time builder and he intends to quit his engineering job sometime in the future and concentrate on his building career. He has built few houses for other people in the past but we have not done our own project where we build a spec home and then find a buyer for it. Dh started the spec home few months ago and it is almost near completion now. The last 2 weeks, there have been many viewings and 2 parties were very interested. One of them made a quick offer and after some negotiation, we accepted their offer last week. The other party was disappointed that they lost the house and wanted dh to build their house in the future. That sure sounds good :) I know something could still go wrong until the closing date but it is sure a relief to know that something promising has happened. This is our first spec home so dh is a little sad to part with it...lol. It is "his" baby :)

Jess started her VBS today and it will end this Friday. She is thrilled to be able to go back to "school" although it is not really like her actual school but she loves being around other kids. So, I have 3 hours of peace and quiet for the next few days. I really could use them to run some errands and to get the house clean up. Next Monday, we will have some friends visiting us from Miami. They will be here for 1 week. We might bring them to the mountains, either GA mountain or Smokey Mountain in TN. I am really looking for that little vacation as we haven't had a vacation for a long time.

Okay, enough of updates for me, here's my menu for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 3 sall sausages and 1 cup of soymilk.

Snack : Some grapes.

Lunch : Grilled ham and cheese sandwich and mixed green salad. Might have some fruits too.

Snack : Fruits.

Dinner : Spaghetti and meatballs with a mixed green salad.

Dh is off today so I try to not spend too much time in the kitchen instead spend more time with him and Jess. More like...an excuse to relax...lol.

Some replies :

MONET : Thanks for starting the board. We appreciate your dedication :) Happy Belated birthday to Laura. The birthday menu sounds yummy!!!

GATOR : Welcome back!!! I am glad you had a great trip. Congrats on the 4 lbs loss! You ave done such an awesome job getting back on track. Thanks for sharing the pics, you looked good!!!

FILLISE : Yes, the sun is out and shining brightly as well. It is a little humid here but no complaints. I know the temps are supposed to get up to 90's this week. Your steak salad sounds so yummy and simple. Thanks for the recipe.

MONET : WTG on getting the walk in. I on the other hand didn't do much outside. It is way too hot for me right now....lol. Maybe I will do more housework today :) Your plans sound good...you can do it!

TONI : hey Toni....glad to see you and that you enjoyed your brother's visit :)

That's for now :) Got to do some work before going to pick up dd from her VBS.

Good Monday Morning Ladies

Hope everyone had a good weekend. It was rainy here too. Especially yesterday. Our picnic was ok. Not as much of a crowd as usual on Friday and Saturday the rain kept people away. We probably are down around $50,000.00. It is a shame, but can't help Mother Nature.
I managed to get by with only 3/4 of a dacquiri. I told them I didn't want to have any. That lasted for awhile and they insisted I have one. It was tradition they said. They weren't that good so I had no problem refusing any more. Eating was ok for the weekend. My choices on Friday were fried fish and slaw. The scale held for Sat, so I was pleased. Had a graduation party Sat night and ate fruit, veggies and BBQ w/o the bread. I'm sure the BBQ had sugar, but that was all I could do. I did not have any cake. Yesterday was all legal, even though we only at 2 meals, breakfast and dinner. Dinner was stuffed shells and they were heavy and the scale was up 2 lbs this morning so I am hoping it was the wt of the food.

Went shopping yesterday for bathing suits for vacation. That is disgusting. I wish I knew what you can do for flabby thighs with cellulite. Nasty. I bought one with a skirt, but it would need to be knee length to help.

Monet, I am started in the exercise already. I got up at 5:30 and got in a mile on the treadmill. Tonight while dinner is cooking I will get my wts in. The girls have VB so we will go watch that. I have to get my pizza crust ready tonight for tomorrow night. So I will have a busy 2 hours when I get home getting dinner for 2 nights, lunches made and my workout in. One the recipe thing, I am fixing quiche on Thursday. I haven't made it in awhile. I will post the recipe then.

Toni, That cauliflower recipe sounds yummy. I am going to try it. Glad you had a good visit with your brother.

Gator, those pics are great. I love seeing you we are "talking" with all the time. The country is so beautiful. Congrats on losing 4 lbs already.

Susan, your salad sounds great too. They have somehting similar to that at O'Charley's a black and bleu salad with steak and clue cheese. I fix that at home a lot. Glad your rain is over.

Monet, Good for you. You need to take time for yourself. Get up and get your exercise in early and it will always get done. Be careful making those cakes.
BF: mini bagel (ww) with peanut butter, coffee
Snack: grapes, pepperoni bites.
Lunch, salad, orange
Dinner, pork chops, sauerkraut, aspargus.

Got to run, my tummy is growling. Be back Later.

PEASY : Welcome to our board. We are so glad you are here. Don't worry about mistakes, we all make it from time to time. As long as you get back on track, you will be just fine. SB is not about "doing 100% or you will fail" kind of plan but more like teaching you how to make the best choices available. Every little decisions you make helps. I am so glad your fiance is eating healthy with you, that makes it even easier for both of you to succeed. Well, as any questions you want and we are here to help :)

Julia,

We were posting at the same time. Congrats on your DH selling his spec house. That is exciting. Your new family room sounds so pretty. That would be fun working with a decorator. I have no sense of that stuff. Relax while Jess is in VBS.

JACK : LOL....I was replying to your post while you were with mine :) yes, it was a lot of fun working with the interior designer especially when the service is FREE!!! LOL. I never thought I will get a chance to work with one as I know how expensive their service can be. It really take the furnishing and decorating burden off me shoulder. I know what I like but I am not sure how to put them together plus dh has a different taste in decorating and furniture so having a decorator has helped both of us. My house is really empty (except messes...lol) so we are going to do one room at a time. The last room will be our master bedrom :)

Alright, I better get going :)

Just got back from taking James to work. He is such a slacker! I can't believe his boss is ok with him working 11 to 7, but I guess they don't mind.

I have meatballs in the oven. I made a batch in the pressure cooker over the weekend, and they were delicious, but lost their shape. I decided to try a batch in the oven and see if they were as good, and retained the round shape. Unfortunately, these are for the wedding.... She wanted Italian meatballs. Go figure...I thought Swedish were the way to go! I will still need to plan a dinner for tonight. :(

I need to go finish baking cakes, but I am feeling like a slacker myself today.

JACK: You did splendid over the weekend! :cheer:  I did not do as well, but did not do as bad as I could have! (is that any excuse??? )

KENG: How exciting to get the spec house sold and get to decorate the family room! I did not know that Ethan Allen had free decorating service like that. I may have to check it out. I am like you- I know what I like, but I am not sure I know how to put it together. Being an artist, I like rich color, and people comment on liking my house, but its stronger than many would like themselves. My walls are very blue, and my sofas are red! I have NO idea what color carpet would look good, but I am going to have to replace the carpet soon.... decisions, decisions! :) Enjoy your peace and quiet this week!

TONI: That cauliflower recipe sounds really good! Thanks for sharing it. I am glad you had a good visit with your brother. I am sure he appreciates your cooking 'family' favorites for him! ;)

Eating was pretty good over the weekend. My only no no was a pice of homemade cheese cake. But the scales were nice this morning so no harm no foul. :) So far today nothing to speak of so I need to go in there and figure out a snack. Hubby wants a snack himself so I need to get. I"m not at home but I'll try to get back with some replies later. If not...(((hugzz))) thinking of you all.

Well, I put on my bathing suit to lay out in the sun and my husband said, Wow...you HAVE been loosing weight!! Isn't that nice? So, after I got him out of the house and to work and got the plastic pool for DS to play in and got out the Hawaiian Tropic, the sun went away. But it's hot and humid out so I sat in it anyway and enjoyed the scent of the sunscreen. So, then my DS was 'bored' despite the fact he has a fully loaded sandbox and had out his pool. Junior jumped in and made it dirty so DS didn't want to go in anymore. Then Junior kept going to the fence to bark at the very evil and aggressive dogs next door and then my DH called me on my cell phone and the battery went dead, so I came in. And whenever I just come home from somewhere and want to get in and put away groceries or do a little cleaning, DS is like, I want to go outside...and he's just a tad too little to be allowed out without me at least being able to look in on him and no way with Junior, because Junior likes to play with him as if DS is a fellow puppy and DS is always reduced to tears in minutes. So...now that I geared up to spend time out with him, now he wants to come in. Go figure.

So, now I'm eating lunch...a salad leftover from last night and a turkey patty cut up on top with a thick slice of cantaloupe. For breakfast I had plain yogurt mixed with a spoon of splenda and a dash of vanilla and some strawberries and blueberries and a couple turkey sausages.

I walked a half hour today in the humidity and sweat like a :ink: . It's 84 today and the heat index is well into the 70's. I feel like I live in the south with you guys!! ;)

Monet: I love Swedish Meatballs. And that reminds me of a guy I used to work with at Kodak that was Swedish and one day he was actually eating Swedish Meatballs for lunch and he asked me if I'd like some. I was pregnant at the time with my DD and I patted my bulging midriff and said, "No thanks...I've had enough Italian Sausage to last a while, thanks..." :lol3:

Gator: Great pictures! And way to go on the loss!!

Fillese: Your steak salad sounds delish!! And good luck with that meeting and the water thing. I'd lay off an hour before. I have to lay off the water if I drive to town to shop. It drives me nuts constantly having to go!!

Toni: I HAVE to try your cauliflower recipe. I have everything I need except for the cream cheese...and I'm a little short on the cheddar as well. Have fun with the housework and I'm glad you had fun with your brother!

Ken: Aaahhh...new furniture. I with we could get some. We got our set aobut four years ago from Flanigans and I knew I'd hate it when I got it...it was my DH's pick. It has really high armrests, so when I have my tea I can't just place the teacup on the end table, but have to reach up and over to set it down. I hate that. AND it has all those annoying pillows for cushions. They look nice when I just get them set up, but now they're all crushed and sloppy looking and they are NEVER on the couch all at the same time. Either Junior has one he's trying to kill or DS has them all on the floor to make a fort. I would love a nice structured suite in my living room....and a recliner!! I've been working DH to get me a recliner for years...but he has some thing against them like they're unsophisticated or something. I'm like, I don't care...they're comfy and I want one!! To me, a living room isn't a living room without a LaZBoy.

Jack: Bathing Suit shopping :fr: ...what can be worse? I bought the one I have last summer at an amusement park. I was refusing to go in the waterpark, but it was soooo hot I decided that if I didn't get wet, someone dear to me was going to die. So, I bought a suit and decided I didn't care what I looked like, besides, if you look around at the people that are in bathing suits in a waterpark, I think I look like a normal average woman...a little fluffy around the edges, but certainly not the teeny bopper I used to be. So, my suit I'm wearing right now it that suit and it's a size 16. I never wear a bathing suit unless I'm in my backyard or out on the boat where nobody can see me. Unless it's a 100 degrees in the shade and then I couldn't care less. My problem area is my midriff...waist, boobs and caboose. I don't have a problem with my legs yet...unless I'm sitting in a lawn chair...which about the most unflattering thing that can happen to the skinniest, trimmest of thighs!! My legs are flabby, but nothing in comparison to the rolls on my lower back and stomach. Bleh!! And then there's the strechmarks and the incisions from having my gall bladder removed. Sigh....I guess my bikini days are overwith... :( Actually, I've never had a bikini-quality body...I've always been a little thick in the middle. Anyhow...glad your picnic was okay instead of bad. Great would have been better, but okay is...well, okay, I guess, right?

Peasy: Welcome aboard!! We love fresh blood :o I mean, newbies!! Don't worry about asking questions...the thing for me with labels, is look at nothing but the ingredients, and avoid the words: enriched, white and anything with 'ose' in the word unless it's natural like lactose. I think that's the basics, give or take a few details. You can do it!!

Well, we finally broke and bought an air conditioner for the window. I don't know why we didn't think of it sooner!! Okay...gotta run...the humidity is getting to all of us and the kids are screaming and getting mad at each other...I've actually been writing this for about four hours on and off...I'm going to go throw them both in the river to cool off...

Happy Monday morning:

Things here are o.k. I am still having some BM problems, and I wonder if it still has something to do with the antibiotic I took a month ago. I usually have to go to the RR soon after getting up and I continue going for the next 3-5 hours. If I am not close to a RR, I am in trouble. I know I have IBS, but usually something triggers it; I have had this almost non-stop for weeks now. I wonder if I got some type of parasite. Once I hit about noon, I am fine and don't have a BM for the rest of the day. And then the next day, it is the same routine until my colon is empty. I'm sharing this info. in hopes of someone knowing what might be going on??? Any ideas? I already have an anti-diarrheal medication ready for out trip; I am probably going to have to take it daily when gone.

I took Britt to her homeo doctor today to have her re-tested; she is doing really well. I am actually really upset about a story I saw on CNN today when I was at the gym; I was reading it on the closed captioning, so don't have all the details....Anyhow, it was about a 12-yr. old girl who had cancer (not sure what kind). She went through 4 chemo treatments. The cancer was in remission but the doctors were strongly encouraging the parents to do radiation. They said they didn't want to because it may cause her to be sterile later in life, as well as cause other heart, lung, and add'l health issues. They wanted to look into alternative treatments since she was now in remission. The state (I don't know which state it was in) took away their daughter as well as their two sons and put them in foster care since thier parents refused the radiation. They have since given their two sons back, but the dd is still in foster care while her parents fight for her not to receive the radiation. The latest ruling was that the judge ruled in favor of the girl getting radiation and against her parents! It is appalling to me!

Anyhow...I guess I am feeling a little down today. My sister wants to re-new her vows this winter, and my parents said they wouldn't go if I went. They are acting so childish, I can't believe it. My niece lives with them, and I left her a voice mail on her cell phone for her birthday in April, telling her that I love her and to have a great day; she apparently erased it without listening to it. I had also sent her a card, and sent my mom a Mother's Day card, which my mom told my sister that they shredded without reading them. AND, this takes the cake. My parents bought Britt a birthday present before all this blew up, and she finally got all her Thank You cards written about a month ago. They shredded her card too. My mom told my sister, "I wish that Nat would stop sending things to us because we shred them before we read them...she even disguised a card to look like a child's writing so we would read it." Can you believe the immaturity?? I really thought there was hope, but they truly want nothing to do with my family. I have no idea how to find a qualified therapist to talk to, but I could really benefit from some counseling, I think. Love was always so conditional in my family growing up; I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it has come to this. My children will always know that they are loved, NO MATTER WHAT! I remember when I would get into disagreements with my parents growing up, and other adults saying, "they are lucky to have a child like you!" O.K., enough venting....thanks so much for listening!! It feels good to just get that off my chest!!

Gator: I knew it wouldn't take you long to drop that weight; you are so committed. Your dinner sounds divine; definately worth splurging for. The pictures are lovely; thanks for sharing them.

Fillise: Great job on that water intake.

Monet: Way to fit in that exercise; 20-30 minutes out of an entire day really isn't much to commit to. I like the giving the house an enema saying...I wish it was as quick and simple as that. Thanks for posting those pics for Gator; they are so nice.

Toni: Enjoy cleaning your house (or giving it an enema  ).

Ken: I am so glad you and DH were able to agree on paint colors and furniture; how exciting. Congrats on selling the spec home; that is exciting!! How are you feeling in this heat? Any names picked out yet?

Jack: Sorry the picnic turnout wasn't that great. You did well with your food choices. I bought a pink one-piece suit this year, and got some of those surfer-type shorts; they look cute. I don't like to be in my suit unless I am in the pool or poolside, no matter how much I've lost ;) . The Smirnoff Twisted drinks do have malt in them; they are considered flavored beer. I tried Black Cherry yesterday....yum!!!

Peasy: I didn't read the rest of the posts from last week, but saw that Ken welcomed you, so I will do the same....WELCOME ABOARD!

Country: (((((HUGS))))) back.

Thanks again for listening!!! You guys are the best!

Tech: We were posting at the same time. What an awesome compliment from DH. It makes it all worth it, eh?

You made me think of taking the girls out in their little kiddie pool last week. Britt has to have a towel lined up from the pool to the sidewalk, so No-one gets grass in it, or she won't swim in it. She also can't stand any little bugs to be in site. Then she gets too hot or too cold; she is a drag to have in the pool. Lane, on the other hand, will swim with the bugs, the grass, the dogs...you name it, she's game. She would have stayed out all day if I let her.

Well, I gotta go check on lunch!

Have a great day!

Monet, I got a visual of the meatballs in the pressure cooker. Did they explode?

Country, good job on weekend eating.

Tech, I thought all men loved Lazy Boys. I think they have sleeping potions in them. DH gets in his and is gone in 5 minutes. I think I'm at the same point as you on the bathing suits. Just wear it and the **** with it. Plus in Punta Cana it is a topless beach and 99% of the people should leave their tops on so people will be talking about them and not me hopefully.

Nat, I'm so sorry about the situation with your parents. They really don't know what they are missing out on with you and the girls. It is a shame but sometimes there is nothing we can do. Pray they see the light and get over whatever caused this riff. You seem like such a great person to me. I saw that story about the girl with cancer. I really don't know all the details. I know people refuse treatment for kids b/c of religious beliefs. But you have to save the child's life.

Can it be late afternoon already! Went to town and had lunch with a friend and then to her house for a nice visit. Its so hot and humid!!! Our air is really running and running to keep us cool. Guess I'd better get up in the morning and do laundry before it gets hot again. Maybe I'll have some get up and go tomorrow. I've got some boneless pork chops for dinner, we'll have a salad and I'm not sure what else. I need some veggies in here. To bad my cauliflower casserole is all gone.

Pancho- I'm so sorry you're having such trouble. I hope you get over it before vacation.

Techwife- Sounds like the kids and dog are really keeping you busy. Junior must really be growing. What a handful....

CountryMom- You did good over the week end. Just one piece of cheesecake isn't bad..

Monet- I make my meatballs in the oven. It seems the best way to me to cook them. Did you get the orange pound cakes done?

Peasy- Welcome to the board. Its good to have you here.

Julia- I'll bet your family room is going to be wonderful. What a good idea to have help with it. Wish we were close enough to Ethan Allen to do that. I'll have to stick with my plain ole country home.

Jack-K- I think you did great with your eating. Sometimes we have to just do what we can in the situation.

Gatorgal- Your pictures were wonderful. How did you like the cooking class? Did you make anything you're going to repeat?

Guess I'll go now and check on hubby. Have a good evening...

JACK: Of course they did not explode! They just cook up soft and very tender, and where I did not roll them really well, they pull apart, and become weird shaped instead of round. I cooked them in the oven today, and they do hold their shape better.

TONI: I have most of the orange pound cake done...but I need to bake the German chocolate one now! I did not get as much done today as I should have! :(

TECH: I loved the story of you getting out the bathing suit...so typical of kids to want to be out when you are in, and in when you are out!

PANCHO: <<hugs>> I can't imagine a mother treating a daughter the way yours is treating you. At least your sister still talks to you! As for a counselor, ask at church who they recommend. Most churches have a network for counselors. If you lived near me, I know of three or four very competent counselors. I can ask some of my friends who work for our denomination here if there are any in Phoenix if you would like. I think you are wise to decide to go talk to a professional. If you can work through your own grief and hurt it will help you not to pass it on to your own kids. You are a wonderful woman, and obviously a warm and caring mother. Please don't let your parents stupidity bring you down. On the IBS stuff...I have the same problem...and it is especially bad when I have any dairy products. If I lay off dairy, and wheat for a few days it improves. I have been following a story about a four year old with Ewing's sarcoma, and the parents are agonizing over treatment. I too am appalled that the state would take that child from the parents, and rule for radiation treatments when she is in remission and radiation is so damaging. There is no guarantee that radiation is necessary, or even needed.

I need to go check on cakes and stuff....

Nat: The best backyard pool experience was when both my kids...at the time around 8 and 2...and my dd says, "What kind of pebble is this?" And I said, "Judging from the corn in it, I'd say it's a Kyle pebble!!" :lol3: I never saw her move so fast in all my life!! Gross, but funny!!

Jack: I thought all men loved recliners, too...which further validates my suspicion that in our last lives, my husband was the wive and I was the husband.

Toni: The kids and the dog are a lot of fun. :dizzy: I just gave Junior a bath in the plastic pool...trust me when I tell you nobody will go in it now, that's for sure!! Junior likes to lay under the back steps to cool off and he gets filthy under there. I have to give him a bath almost twice a week!! I don't mind, though...it's actually easier with the garden hose and the spray attachment as I don't have a hand-held spray thingy in my shower. That's a lot of dumping cupfuls of rinse water in the tub!!

Well, Jacko was just found not guilty on all counts. I don't know how I feel about that. I'm glad it's over, that's for sure. I thought it would be a hung jury.

Okay...time to get some dinner on!! Kris

We just finished dinner. I fixed a pot roast in the pressure cooker, with a mustard/beer sauce. Very good! We had brown rice, and fresh sauteed squash out of the garden. For dessert, I ate more than my 1 oz of dark chocolate. It was El Rey brand, bulk from Harry's/Whole Foods, and oh my was it good! It was 73.5%, and perhaps the best I have had yet. I had to leave the table to keep from eating more!

I am suddenly very tired, and the kitchen is a wreck, plus I have to fix Tom's lunch and snacks from tomorrow. I think I will take a little lie down and hopefully feel rejuvenated to do the evening routine.

I will be back later, I hope! :)

Hi all. Just got off the phone with my sister who has been at my folks for the past week visiting again. This time she brought her youngest and tomorrow they head back home to Colorado. It was great seeing her. Just wish Id had more time to spend with her.

I tried a new recipe this past weekend . I had a houseful of people over for dinner on Saturday and my sister in law made lasagna with meat and I had to make a meatless one for two non meat eaters. Well I looked through many recipes until I found one that would accomadate me and them. It was awesomely good. I never would of tried something like this before and after having it I liked it way better than any lasagna Ive ever had. Heres the recipe.
I found Lower carb ww noodles which I used.
Spray 9x12 casserole ,( do not pre cook the noodles) layer three noodles then 1 cup SF pasta sauce, then 1/3 cup ricotta ( or LF cottage cheese) sprinkle parmasean cheese, 1/2 cup mozzerella, one layer of zuchhini sliced very thin, layer of tomatoe sliced thin, layer of fresh spinach, 3 rings of red and green pepper. Repeat 2 more times. With a sprinkle of mozzerella on the top. Bake one hour at 350.

Hope everyone is well and good this week.

Managed to get everything accompished last night before the ballgame. Got my pizza dough baked and my workout in and lunches made and dinner and clean-up.

DH goes to the Dr today so please say a prayer that is nothing. I can't take another year of health problems.

Toni, we had pork chops too. No salad, just lots of veggies.

Nat, if you wre the man in your last life, then you must have done soemthing bad to come back
a a woman.

Cindy, how is your dad doing? Glad you had a nice visit with your DS. Shame Colorado is so far away.

Monet, I was afraid those meatballs had exploded all over the place. What a mess that would be. Glad they turned out in the oven. Are you baking all day today?

Going to get busy. Will try to get back later if I make it back from the Dr.

Okay, guys...if you look quick...like before noon today...you should see the remnants of Arlene sweeping through our area. By the time it gets here, the wind is knocked out of it, but you can definitely tell it's tropical in nature...breezy/gusty winds and very warm and humid and downpours. This one blew through last night and finally finished up just after I got DD into school. I hope it takes the humidity with it!!

Pancho--Why don’t you try taking some acidolphilus to help your digestive system. One brand, Jarro-dolphilus, comes in capsule form and you don’t have to refrigerate it. Good for intestinal health. After a round of antibiotics, acidolphilus is a good thing to get those good bacteria back into your system. Also, why don’t you ask your DD’s holistic doctor about your problem.
Re. your difficult parents, it sounds like something on Dr. Laura’s show. It might just well be that you have to face up to the fact that your parents are being, ahem, jerks (sorry to have to say that) and it was just “luck of the draw” that you happened to be born to these people that choose not to understand what love means. It’s terribly sad for you, especially now that you have children, but the truth is that it is their loss even though they don’t know it. It’s a tragedy, really. Instead of dwelling on how frustrating they can be, and how angry or sad this makes you feel, maybe you can get beyond this by accepting the fact of your parents’ controlling and selfish character, and choose to be happy in your own right. Choose some other people, maybe your inlaws, to be those special grandparents for your children, and “parents” for you. Or perhaps some really neat older couple in your church who need a family, and who also would be happy to be a “family” for you and your DH and your children. I’m so pround of you for hanging in there and learning about giving unconditional love to your own children. I can tell you that when they get older, teens and beyond, it very well will require unconditional love on your part. Good luck and God bless.

Tech--You rock, girl.

Toni--I don’t know if I will make anything I learned in the Italian cooking school. It was just a fun vacation type of thing, and most of what we made was fairly heavy. Green beans cooked in tomato sauce, barley soup with saffron, risotto, fried zucchini blossoms, eggplant fried and served with cheese and tomatoes, etc. I had “cooking lessons” of a sort when we were in France, where I watched the woman that cooked for us every day. I wrote down a bunch of recipes tht she fixed, and, in fact, we had two of her dishes last night. I love pasta, and we also had that in Italy, but I prefer the white pasta, semolina, rather than whole wheat, and I try to stay away from that right now. Trying to stick to mostly meats and veggies and fruits, with the occasional WW bread.

I got 13500 steps yesterday. I got home about 6 pm after having to go to 3 grocery stores before finding swiss chard. None of the Publix’s had it so ended up at Albertsons. I got home and had just about 10000 steps, so 3500 steps were just in fixing dinner and puttering around later.

Meals yesterday:
B--homemade meusli (which is 1/2 cup raw oats softened in water, and about a cup of fresh fruit cut up on top of it and mixed in)
L--1 C homemade split pea soup, 1/4 C ratatouille, small salad with LC dressing and 1 1/2 oz chicken.
D. 4 oz. pork tenderloin roasted with mustard sauce, 1/2 C brown rice (no butter!), stuffed chard (stuffed with sautéed leeks and eggplant) served with chunky tomato sauce perfumed with fennel.
I had about 60 oz. liquid--water and herbal Iced tea with lemon and stevia. Does plain iced tea count?

It’s almost 11 and I haven’t walked yet. Will try to get out soon. If it is too hot, I’ll walk this evening. My DH is not feeling well today and has called his doctor. He is feeling lethargic and achy. He must be feeling pretty bad to actually finally call the doctor.

Teensy--Welcome back.

Gosh, I checked my profile and it's been two years since I last posted! I see some old friends and some new folks. I had to back off the SB board to concentrate on completing my Masters Degree; finished that and graduated last month! Now I get to move across the country from beautiful NTX to beautiful east GA! My husband got a new job that he loves in Augusta, so we are moving next week. I got a job teaching there, we found a house last week, so everything is falling into place. We still have to sell our house here, but the way everything has worked, it will sell in a week! Ten years of living in a house is a lot to sort through, throw out, etc. Monet, a six month house enima is a great idea!!!!!
As far as my health; I've proved to myself how damaging refined sugar and enriched flour are. I have inched up on the scale this last year, but am back in the understanding fold of this board. I know you guys will encourage and uplift me as I get back to where I want to be!
Update on the family: Son graduated from USNA last May and is now in San Antonio training to be a Naval Flight Officer. He discovered he hated G forces, or at least any above 2, so decided to train to navigate the big spy jets, P3's and EP3's. He gets his wings on his 24th birthday in September!!!!!! Then he goes either to Whidbey Island, WA or Rota, Spain. He also proposed to his girlfriend on New Year's Eve and will get married next summer.
Oldest daughter is still in college, wants to be a teacher and says she's not moving to Georgia with us. She has a serious boyfriend and part of me understands and part of me is worried and part of me is sad that she won't come with us.
Youngest daughter is spending her last two weeks in TX with her friends, having fun and saying goodbye. She seems excited and we hope she likes her new home and school. She makes friends easily and should transition easily.
I may not be very regular on here until I get moved. But at least DH has already set up the phone and DSL!!!! That will be up and running on our move in day.
Now I'm off to the store to get some fruit, veggies, and cheese. I can't stock up on too much since movers are coming next week, but at least I can get myself detoxed this week!

Later Friends,
Jeanie

Hi all, thanks for the welcome. :) I'm from Virginia Beach, VA. The only health food store I found here is a place called Heritage. It's a teenie store. I wish we had one of the Whole Foods here. I usually do my grocery shopping at a Harris Teeter and Super Wal-mart. We have a Kroger , but I've actually never went in one yet.

Here's yesterday's meals:
B: Puffed Kashi w/ 2% milk and splenda
S: 1 Triscuit w/ cheddar
L: Turkey/swiss/mayo/mustard/spinach sandwich on WW SF bread
S: 1 Triscuit w/ cheddar
S: a few macadamia/cashew mix and a oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (south beach brand) before my 1-1/4 mile treadmill speed walk.
D: Baked ziti w/ italian sausage and an orange for desert
Water all day.

I think I had too much cheese and carbs. The Ziti (actually Penne because they don't come in ziti) I used was shady. It was the Barilla Plus brand. I should of stuck with Heartland. Was the cookie alright? On the box it said for Phase 2 & 3. I heard or read somewhere that SB is like Phase 2 of South Beach. :?:

Today's menu:
B: 2 hard boiled eggs with apple juice to drink
S: none
L: spinach/romaine/tomato/parmesan/grilled chicken salad with Caesar
S: maybe a Triscuit w/ cheddar (I love cheddar)
S: might have some nuts before my walk again
D: Baked chicken breast, steamed broccoli

I'll probably have some SF jello w/ strawberries and SF whipped cream when my fiance comes home (1130pm). I have insomnia and sleep around 3 - 4am. My doc doesn't want to prescribe me sleep meds. She doesn't think it's a problem and I should try some natural ways of falling asleep like counting sheep! Come on now.. does that actually work? lol

Oh, another thing, was the apple juice was okay? It was made from one of those frozen concentrated juice cans. It says unsweetened but it was sweet.

Thanks again.

JRed, Welcome home. Funny how we know where to come. Your move sounds exciting. It will be hard leaving your DD behind, but think about it as here being "away" at college. Your son seems to being doing well. Monet will love having another GA girl .

Gator, you rock on all those steps. You are making me want to get my pedometer back out. I think tea counts as long as it is decaf.

Good Afternoon, everyone! I just got another cake out of the oven and am now procrastinating. I really don't want to mix and bake the chocolate ones. I might go swim some, and shoot some archery and call it an upper body workout. :)

JRED: Woo hoo! Welcome back! And Welcome to the Peach state! I live outside of Atlanta, but with jerrymandering, we probably have the same representative! :) I hope you like it here. I am glad to see you back here too. Sounds like you are getting back on track well. What will you be teaching in Augusta?

JACK: Will be praying for the doctor's visit...keep us posted! <<hugs>>

TEENSY: I hope I don't need to get out the hammer and nails and nail your shoes to the floor in here... :) I know what you mean about working out feeling good. My walk yesterday actually felt good! (I keep telling myself that too! I hope I am totally convinced by tomorrow morning!)

PEASY: You can do pretty well even without a Whole Foods or health food store. It just takes a bit of looking, and you can find stuff you can use. You might want to check out the Kroger. They often have a lot of stuff there that is good for SB! If you were only eating one triscuit, I would not think the starchy carbs were overdone. The guideline is three servings a day, or less for weight loss. A serving of triscuits is 7 crackers. Some of the best advice I got when starting out was to get legal, then worry about portions. It sounds crazy, but I think it is wise. I would eat triscuits, and not worry about how many. I did that with other foods. Once I got the sugar and therefore the cravings out of my system, it was much easier to follow the portion control as well. I have trouble sleeping some too. There is an herbal supplement you can get at Wal Mart called Calms Forte' that helped me some. Its cheap and if it helps, great, if not, you have not put out much $$ for it...

GATOR: I just used the manage attachments button on the reply menu. It then gives you the browse option, and upload button. If you can't get them to post, send them to me and I will do it for you. There is a size limit, but it doesn't tell you what it is unless they are too big. The ones you sent me were all fine.

TECH:  woo hoo! I am so glad you are seeing some progress!

I need to go try and accomplish something. I will be back later!

Just got back from the Dr's. It was only a infection of the prostrate glad. Antibotics for 6 weeks and then a PSA test. I am so glad that is all it was but will feel much better after the pSA test. Thanks for your prayers.

Peasey, welcome. I don't think I officially did that. I don't think your pasta was legal. I have bought that brand and think it is enriched. I believe those cookies are ok. They are made with wheat flour. I bought some but haven't tried them. DD said they were good.

Monet, You had better get those cakes done. Don't forget to take time for Monet and get that exercise in.

Speaking of, I got up this am and got my treadmill in. Will get my wts in and another walk (if it is not raining) after dinner.

I got one cake done, then hit a brick wall in the energy department. I spent over an hour talking with our 'adopted' daughter...a friend of Laura's who is living with us for the time being. She has been to the school of hard knocks and is trying to get back on track. I think getting to know her better was more important than getting the cakes baked.

I cleaned out two cabinet shelves just now. I am so excited! I threw out a bunch of old stuff, and its great to have some room in the cabinets! :)

I really want to go swimming! :) Its very hot and muggy. The pool actually looks nice, and cool! Alas, but I have to work on justifying not working on things to swim! :) I am sure I will come up with something ....

JACK: I am glad the doctor's visit was good news. :) My husband takes standardized saw palmetto capsules for prostate health. It has helped him a lot... the doctor recommended it.

Ok, the pool is making too much of a pull! I am going swimming!

Jack-K..I'm so glad it was nothing serious. Praying the test results confirm that.

Gator..thanks for sharing your photos the other day. The cannel was so neat.

Julia....your new room is going to be so nice.

Monet...I'm so jealous. I can't shoot my bow anymore. I hurt my shoulder about a year and a half ago and ignored it to the point I just found out the other day I can't pull it back. I've been doing some exercises to see if I can strengthen the muscles around my injury to maybe get strong enough to shoot again. How are your hands?

Tennsy...wtg on the good workout. Lately I've been walking but it has been such a chore. Total lack of motivation.

Cindy...the lasagna sounds yummy. I tried one once with cabbage and it was NOT good. :)

Poncho...my heart aches for you. Praying that God will fill the void and ease the hurt of their rejection.

I have to go hang out a load so I guess I'd better scoot and get it done.

Love and hugs,

Monet-- I have been exercising......but apparently not enough. I am stepping it up a bunch to see if these stubborn pounds will actually go away!! I seem to go 3 or 4 days competely on plan then blow it for a couple of days. I am so sick and tired of the yo-yo eating. I feel so much better when I eat good, but lately it is like my body has got to have all of the things it hasn't had for such a long time. I find myself grabbing a couple of corn chips, or a twinkie, or a ding dong or a........the list just seems to go on. Then I am back on the wagon for a few days and then it starts all over........I went 3 full years without cheating......what is wrong with me lately??

Jackie-- I am so glad that it is just an infection. I know that you were very worried.....Take a deep breath and relax!!

County-- I envy you that hot weather......we have had rain almost constantly since Memorial Week-end. My garden is at a stand still.......squashes never have come up. Think I will have to hit the nursery and see if they have any left. Love my summer squashes......... As soon as I get a break in the rain this afternoon, I am heading out with Buddy again. I am only walking him half the normal distance to get him broke back in.

Okay gang----I am revising my menu.....I want to keep my starches at 2 per day......so no wrap for lunch. I will figure something else out. Will let you know........

Good afternoon:

It has been a pretty busy day for us so far. Lane went to her "Look What I Can Do" class, and I took Britt to the park to play for awhile, until it got too hot. When her class was over, we went to Petsmart, Target & Michael's. We had to get some stuff for Father's Day (not at Petsmart  ). The girls are having a late lunch and then we will go out on the patio and paint some of their craft stuff.

Other than that, I have the salmon in marinade for dinner. We will have rice and steamed broccoli too.

Monet: I hadn't thought to look for a counselor through the church...I don't know why. Thanks for the recommendation. Heck, if I lived near you, you could just adopt me ;) . I have been eating too much dark chocolate too. Trader Joes has one that is 75% chocolate, and I love it! They were out last time, so I got a big chunk of the dark ghiradella bar, which I think is just 73%. It is still good though. Did you make it into the pool?

Jack: Thanks for the support.....I pray every night for them to come around, but have a feeling that my relationship with them is officially over. I can't dwell on it though; I have to take care of myself and my family. I did get some of those SB ind. crackers. I think I remember that the hydrogenated oils was in the cereal. I also strayed away from the cookies because they have maltitol, which is tough on my digestive system...that's the last thing I need right now. Thank God that all is well with your DH!!! I am so glad it wasn't anything more serious.

Toni: Our air seems to be on non-stop as well. It is around 105-108 this week.

Tech: I loved the pool story.....EW! Congrats on the 159#.

Cindy: So good to see you. Glad you were able to spend some time with your sister; I am sure you had a good time. Sorry to hear that your dad's health has continued to decline. I hope he is not in too much pain. The lasagne sounds tasty!

Teensy: Good to see your little head pop in daily!

Gator: I took acidophilus when I started the antibiotics and for a few weeks after. I guess it wouldn't hurt to take them for awhile longer. I did talk to dd's doctor yesterday and he wants me to do a detox program. I am going to start when we get back from vacation. It is detailed and I don't want to have to try to remember to take the tablets while away. I may also go see a lady that I took Britt to once, who can give me an enema that will replace the bad bacteria with good. Doesn't sound too fun, but I am willing to do anything at this point. A little hot water solution in the rear-end can't hurt anyone, eh? Your post made me cry...thanks so much for the words. You seem to have such insight and wisdom! My DH's parents are awesome grandparents and great in-laws; they just live so far away. I just have to find a way to get past the loss; kinda like a death, I guess. I also have to explain to the kids why my parents are not a part of Thanksgiving this year, and why they don't see them anymore, although they never saw much of them before. This happened the end of March, and Britt hasn't even mentioned not seeing them, because we only saw them very little, as was. We talked on the phone to them more though. I'll cross that bridge when it comes. I don't want to talk bad about them to my kids, so I have to find a kind way to explain the situation. I know that I will not always be proud of the choices my kids make, or not always like the way they act or the things they do, but that will never change the fact that I brought them into the world because I wanted children, and the love in my heart will never, ever go away. I want to be a part of their lives forever, and be a grandmother to their children one day. I know it won't always be easy, but my love will always be constant. They will never doubt that! WOW, impressive steps!! I have to dust off my pedometer and wear it more often; I always pushed myself when wearing it to get just a few more steps!

Jred: Welcome back.

Country: Thanks for the kind words. Good to see you.

Well, kids are calling...gotta go!

Take care,
nat

PANCHO: Distance is nothing...you want me to adopt you? :) I would in a heartbeat! It would be wonderful to have two granddaughters! I am sure I would enjoy them much more than the 12 furry grandkittens I have! Yes, I did make it out into the pool. Unfortunately, in two days the water went from really cold to almost bath water! :( Oh well! It was still refreshing. I did some exercises while I was in it, and and ran in place on the slope 1000 steps. You could always do the Master Cleanse... how do you feel about lemonade? :lol3:

TEENSY: I can relate! I was in that spot of wanting to cheat all the time too. I don't know what happened, but after reading the Glycemic Index list on Mendosa's site, and having Jack tell me I had to answer to her, I have done much better. I have had a few small cheats, but I am almost 100% better than I was. If the scale shows some improvement, it will go a long way to helping me keep this up!

Monet, apparently I can only upload one picture at a time because more than one is too big.

This is a picture of one of the meals the cook at our house in France fixed. You can see that it is not SB legal. It is fresh pasta with fresh seafood--shrimp and mussels-- with parsley and a white wine sauce of some time. Good french baguette, and yum.

Oooh, this is beginning to work. I don't know why I had so much trouble before. Maybe some pictures are bigger in kilobytes than others.

Anyway, this is a special meal that she fixed with puff pastry with sautéed leeks topped with sliced scallops and when baked topped with a lovely sauce of some type. It was really good. The pie looking thing is a wedge of plum tart, homemade. We had dessert almost every meal, so you can see why I gained some weight.

Gator- those meals look wonderful!

Just a quick stop by today. Next week Im on vacation and should have some more time.
Dad is hanging in there. He is slowly getting worse. He was just put on some experimental drugs to see if it slows the honeycombing of his lungs but the drugs suppress the immune system. So he gets one bug/germy thing and he probably wont be able to fight if off. Each month now he requires more oxygen. He was at 1-2 level now its mostly 4 sometimes 5. And I believe his machine only goes to 5 .

Well got to run. See you all again soon. :)

I am glad Gator has gotten some pictures to post! :) Makes ya feel real technically savvy, doesn' t it?

Here is another one she sent to me, and here is what she said about it:

This happens to be a salad of frisée and butterhead lettuce, topped

with lardons, which is French bacon pieces, kind of like pancetta. She

made a vinegrette dressing, and used French baguette for the crouton,

topped with melty goat cheese, heated in the oven.

GATOR: I saved the pictures to my digital picture folder, in a subfolder of just your pictures. Then, when I did the manage attachments, I just browsed to that folder, clicked on the one I wanted, and uploaded it. I then hit browse again, and upload, etc. until the max of 5 was reached. All the files you sent me were rather small, and should have been ok. I won't even begin to try and figure it out! I am SO untechnical! I am just blessed with two IT professionals in the family! Between the two of them, they can usually fix any mess I make! :s:

I am SO ready for bed! Right now, I am rather mad. I got on the AT&T wireless website to see about an upgrade phone. I paid my balance ( which was past due, but they had not suspended my service or anything) on 5/27, but they will not let me check on upgrades and say I have a past due balance! I may just have to tell Cingular to take a hike and get a different carrier. Grrr...

Dinner tonight was forbidden black rice (its whole grain...black and yummy!) cooked in the pressure cooker of course!, stir fry broccoli and chicken, and ice tea sweetened with fructose. (just a hint of sweet) No chocolate tonight! :)

Anyway, sweet dreams my friends!

Ended up eating lunch very late......3 pm after my walk with Buddy. Had my apple and then 1/2 hour later I ate 4 slices of deli ham, 1 oz cheddar cheese, 3 radishes, 1 dill pickle and another Lite 85. No blackberries or mid morning snack, had the apple as part of my lunch instead. 2 great eating days down, and tons to go............

Good WIW Morning to you all! (do I sound chipper? I ought to!) I hope WIW is a good one for all of you!

Hopped on the metal monster and I am down three and a half this morning! Woo hoo! The walking and forgoing is helping for sure. I feel encouraged. Now to make it through this wedding without any damage, and I will feel like I am home free!

I don't have time for much right now...I need to go get two of the four chocolate cakes in the oven, then go for a walk while they bake. I don't want to wait too long, or it will be too hot and the A/C will never catch up again....

Later!

Good morning Ladies

Hope everyone see a loss today.

I got on that stupid scale and could never get an accurate reading. It bounced from 171 to 173 and would never say the same # twice. I will try again tomorro. Maybe the battery is going out.

Got in a 2 mile walk and 40 minutes of wt/floor exercises last night. Got up this morning and got my treadmill in. Will get my wts in when I get home.

I have bunco tonight. Won't be a problem. She is having chicken salad and hot wings so I will pass on the bread and be fine. I can pass on dessert with no problem. This is our last one for the summer.

Monet, don't think of the pool taking you away from working, think of it as exercise for YOU. Are those tablets something you can by over the counter or at a health food store? DD cleaned out our pantry the other night and we had a whole garbage can full of old stuff we didn't eat. Amazing. Wow 3 1/2 is great. See what happens when I am watching you

Country, thanks for your prayers. Hope you can get your shoulder back in shape to use your bow.

Teensy, I'm with you. I am tired of this yo-yo eating and losing and gaining the same wt. I am totally committed until our vacation. I have been hitting the exercise hard too. I feel like I was when I started this WOE. Now if only that stupid scale would cooperate. I am trying tos tick with 1 carb a day.

Nat, sounds like the girls' summer is off to a busy start. I wish the malitol would have that affect on me.

Gator, I would starve there, other than the bread.

Cindy, it is so hard to watch our loved ones go down like that and suffer. I think that is God's way of preparing us for what's to come. We are so relieved when they aren't suffering anymore. Still sending prayers your way.

Think I will go find something to do. Be back later.

Jack: Go with the lower number!! I would for sure!!

More replies later...have to go eat breakfast and spend time with DH before he goes to work. WIW had me at 159 again today...and this after eating three slices of Amish bread my DH picked up in NNY Amish country on his way home from a job. Stone ground flour, but I suspect they sweetened it with honey or sugar or something because it was sweet...and VERY good!! My DH also got some blueberry preserves from them, but I'm positive they have illegal for me things in there. Besides, after all that bread yesterday, I better stick to non starchy carbs today, that's for sure!!

Okay...off to fry up some turkey sausage!!

I am still at my pre-vacation weight, so nothing to complain about! My goal this next week is to start getting in more exercise.
We are starting to incorporate more fish, chicken and turkey per my son's cardiologist. Last night I fried up some ground turkey and seasoned it like mexican taco meat. then we all had taco salad with the kids having just a few baked tortilla chips with it, it was really good. Didn't tast too different from beef actually. I was suprised! ;)
Tonight I think we are trying salmon and some shrimp kabobs. I will make some whole grain pasta or rice to go with it. I got some recipe books from the library, so I'll be trying some new things over the next couple of weeks! :chef:
Have a great day everyone!

I got two of the four chocolate cakes baked this morning. They were out of the oven by 9... I still need to bake two more, and cheese straws, but that should not be too hard. If I can get all my errands run today, I will be in good shape. :) James went to work early this morning, but forgot his cellphone, which he asked me to run over to him. :( I told him I would on my way to the store...after my shower!

JACK: You just keep on watching me!

TECH: That bread sounds divine... there is a Mennonite community not far from here, and their bakery and restaurant is really something! I find it amusing that they think any color car other than black is worldly, and chrome trim is worldly. So, they all drive black, chromeless Mercedes, and BMWs! Now, THAT isn't worldly a bit, is it???

THIN: We were posting at the same time! Make sure you read the label on ground turkey. Some have more fat than beef! Publix sells Mavarik beef, which is about 4% fat, and really good. Let me know when you are up for a field trip to the big farmer's markets! :)

Okay...so I no sooner posted my last post when Derek came out with two big slices of Amish bread toast with butter and blueberry jam. He's such a bad influence on my dieting. So, of course, I had one slice with bread and blueberry jam. But THAT'S IT for today. Cross my heart...

Cindy: My heart goes out to you with your dad. I've had more than one close relative pass away as we all watched them lose their health one day at a time. Prayers to you that your family has the strength to get through it all with as little heartache as possible. :grouphug:

Jack: I have GOT to start following your lead with the floor and weight training. It would be so beneficial to me, I'm sure. Just have to make a trip to Dick's and buy some weights and/or bands. I definitely have to start with crunches at the very least. And I'm so glad your doctor's visit turned out to be something managable. :)

Monet: :cheer: AWESOME chunk of weight off!! Three pounds is a nice step in the right direction and I'm so glad you're inspired. I forget which one of our friends layed down the law with you and your little inconsistancies in legal fare, such as your bubble tea, but it obviously paid off sticking to plan!! Keep up the good work!! I need to be more diligent, as well, but first, what the heck is bubble tea? I've never heard of it!! And I hate cell phone carriers! They know they have us all hooked on cell phones by now and drag us all around by the nose, making us do what they want, it seems. It's like cable. Which, by the way, I'd LOVE to cancel all together. BUT, up here in the north country, we only have one channel in Watertown and one Canadian channel, giving us the choice of CBS and CBC (the Canadian channel) without cable. We get our NBC from Syracuse and ABC from a weak Watertown station that we could never get on our old rabbit ears  . But we get those and more on cable...even BBC America...which is my favorite cable channel!! I spent my summers up here with those two channels before cable existed and I suppose we survived on Alice reruns and The Price is Right...but it also got us out of the house and doing cool kid stuff like swimming or going for long walks along the river and picking on the local boys...which, now that I'm grown up, I'm thinking that I could have avoided a lot of teenage trouble if I'd had more TV to keep me away from those boys  But my favorite is when cable's out and I can say, "Oh, too bad...cable's out...everyone OUTSIDE!! YAY!!" And the kids all grumble. Anyhow...I'm off and rambling again....

Oh..and...do you have the recipe for that forbidden blackened rice? Can I cook it in something other than a pressure cooker? I bet my neighbor has a pressure cooker I can borrow if I should use one...let me know... ;)

Teensy: Way to go with the good eating for two days! Make that two more and you've got four under your belt! And then you'll be more than half way through a week! Keep it up!!

Crystle:  It's always nice to see your smiling face (literally!) on the boards. You're like a ray of sunshine!! :D

Gator: You food pictures look very...European. Very rich and very good! I remember my best friend growing up was a Spanish exchange student (she went to Spain) and she came home with some food that was so bizarre. She said the food was totally different (not bad, just different) than here and that it would take a long time to get used to it...especially to a teenager, I think. I think my favorite looking dish was the pasta with the seafood. Mostly because it looks like one of my favorite dishes, Seafood Fettucini Alfredo...which isn't quite the same with WW pasta. I have totally different dishes I've made with the WW pasta...some things are sacred (like the fettucini alfredo) and can't be messed with, imho. ;) I'm glad you are home and that you had a fantastic time!!

Jred:  Welcome back! I'm looking forward to getting to know you and 'losing' with you!! ;) Congrats on graduating!! What a milestone!! And have fun ( :lol3: ) moving. I hate moving and have vowed that the next place I'll move to is the Sand Bay Cemetery. ;) But how exciting...a new city, new state, new house...it actually sounds fun! Except for the packing and unpacking...

Peasy: I can't remember if I've properly said hello and welcome! Welcome! I only have one dinky little natural/health food store in my area. I've only gotten ww tortillas from there as it's hard to shop with my little one (4 1/2)...he's not a very cooperative shopper. BUT, you should only have to have a 'label reading' shopping trip once or twice until you know what's good for you and not and then it'll be as quick as ever to go shopping...you know, once you know the brands and such you can have and are your favorites. Stick to it and ask as many questions as possible...it's the best way to know what's good and what's bad...

Also...reading your menus, it looks like day one had a few too many starch carbs in it (the bread/grains), but day two looks great to me!! Keep up the good work!!

Okay...I think I got everyone...I have to pee and do something constructive. I bought some clothes for DS on Ebay (the best place to buy summer play clothes, imho!) and one woman I bought a few items from also had a workout tape for $1.99 that is a lower body workout...so I figured, why not? So, that should be in anytime with some cute clothes for DS. I got him from another woman about 8 nice Tshirs and a pair of shorts for under $20 including shipping!! You know, they go through these things so fast, I hate to spend a ton of money on clothes...especially summer clothes that get a real beating.

Anyhow...off to the potty I go...darn coffee... :dizzy:

Good morning ya'll. Down three pounds from last week so 158 this week. I think it must be the cherry tomatoes. :) We have a giant bowl sitting on the counter and we eat them like candy. When we walk by we grab a handful.

Monet..woo hoo on your 3.5 pounds. Good deal on getting the cakes done before 9. I'm barely moving at 9. I'm usually sitting here at the computer drinking my coffee and vegging..LOL

Tech...my mouth is watering over here. Enjoy a piece of bread for me.

Thin....We had turkey meat cooked into mexican last night also. By the time we add the chipotle peppers and fresh sage you can't tell it's turkey.

Jack-k...WOO HOO you are working out really hard and deserve to see good results. I bet when you get a new battery you will see the lower of the two numbers for sure.

Teensy...go you, shake your booite...two days down! You can do it! ((hugzz)) I hear you about the yo-yo thing. In the last year or two I've gained and loss the same 5 to 10 pounds over and over again.

Time for my second cup of coffee. Hope each of you has a super fantastic day.

Love and hugs,

OH..and Monet: We have the old fashioned Amish up here...and the Mennonites, too. You can tell the difference because the Mennonites shop at Walmart and drive cars, whereas the Amish drive around in the black horse-drawn carriages. Derek sees them all the time...even in the worst of blinding blizzard conditions. How dangerous is that for them to be ont he side of the road, though. I mean, if we were all in those carriages, it'd be as safe as it gets, but combine one horse drawn carriage with some cocky teenager that thinks he's invincible and that's really scary!

You know, putting that aside, I think their way of living is so refreshing. How nice, simple and basic life would be without all of our modern distractions. And, yeah...a black mercedes is so much less flamboyant than a red or green one :lol3:

Hello everyone:

We have about an hour before we have to leave for Britt's Art class, and for a make-up swim session. Then, we will probably come home and do some paper mache'.

WIW: I was at 121.5# this morning, so nothing to complain about. I did start taking the acidophilus again, Gator. I also have been eating some cheese sticks to help with the BM problem. I want to say that I feel a little better today, but don't want to jinx myself  . I also have been eating the Ezekial sprouted grain bread, in place of the whole wheat, and have cut dairy out, except for yogurt, Monet. We'll see if it all works.

OH, I'VE GOT TO TELL YOU THIS STORY: I got into a much deserved hot bath the night before last. I put my mineral salts in and a few bubbles, and just climbed in...when I saw a centipede crawling along the side of the tub. I started screaming for DH (the kids were in bed). He was across the house and didn't hear me scream until the darn thing jumped right into my tub with me. I jumped out as quick as it jumped in. It was terrible. I never got back into the tub. :(

Monet: I love the pool when it has a little chill to it, but don't care much for it once it hits bathwater stage. I'm glad you got some good exercise in. It is still refreshing, even when it is a little warmer though. Congrats on the loss! Have you tried the pressure cookers yet? I'll pass on the master cleanse ;) .

Gator: The food looks awesome...makes my mouth water.

Cindy: My prayers go out to you and your family to have the strength to see your dad go through this ordeal, and to deal with the inevitable. God bless you!

Jack: Have fun at Bunco. Good job on exercise. Doesn't maltitol even give you gas? You must have a stomach like my DH. Although maltitol did get to him once. I remember him saying something like, "why do they make people take that fleetphospho stuff before a colonoscopy when they can just let them indulge in a bucket of sugar-free chocolate." We had gone to Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory, and he got two of those HUGE turtle type things.

Thin: Glad you didn't gain while on vacation; that's great. We eat turkey in place of beef a lot. You do want to look for the extra lean (it will cost you more). This is the breast of the turkey, with no skin or dark meat. Some of the others have the skin ground up in them, or the dark meat. Jennie-O makes a frozen turkey burger. They are great to have on hand. You cook them from frozen, and they are great for lunches, or a dinner when you forget to defrost something else. I cooked them for dinner last week, and no-one even asked if they weren't beef. Ostrich is another good beef replacement, as well as buffalo. Most buffalo meat is leaner than chicken. Have fun experimenting with the recipes, and let us know if you make anything that we would love.

Country: Congrats on the 3#'s; that's awesome!!! I love fresh tomatoes.

Gotta go!

Pancho: :lol3: That is so funny about the bathtub!! It sounds just like something that would happen to me!! The other night I was kissing DS good night and there was one of those black jumping spiders on his pillow! I whipped off my flip flop and whacked it about ten times after screaming bloody murder!! My son was convulsing with laughing at me. He was quite amused...I needed a glass of wine to calm my nerves. I have zero tolerance with bugs...especially spiders. Needless to say, next day, I put the dog outside and the cat on the screened in porch, sealed the house and let off three bug bombs...one in the basement, one on the main floor and one upstairs. I cant' take it...I'm such a whimp when it comes to creepy crawlies in the house. I don't know how all our southern belles can handle it. I mean, if I ever saw a brown recluse or a scorpion, I would have to be hospitalized just from having seen it. It's a real phobia for me.

Anyhow...thanks for sharing the story!! It makes me feel like I'm not alone...

Thin--I agree with what Monet said about the ground turkey. If you buy it already ground then it very often has a ton of fat from the skin and other stuff in it. However, if you buy the skinless turkey breast and have the butcher grind it for you, then you know that it is low in fat. Also, check around and sometimes you can find a good brand that grinds just the breast meat w/o any skin and fat into the ground turkey. It should look somewhat different that the usual ground turkey you find in the meat case. You can also have the butcher grind chicken breast, and also, check in the frozen section for Boca burgers or some sort of low fat veggie type burger that is actually pretty good. Boca burgers taste like hamburgers at Mickey D's to me.

Glad everyone enjoyed the food pix. I have tons more because we find that so often the food tells so much about the country and its people. If anyone wants to see any more food pix, just let me know and I'll post some more.

Didn't get my walk in this morning because it was the day I work at the pregnancy center. I'll try to get in a walk this evening when it gets a little cooler. I didn't weigh this morning. I'm still in the habit of weighing on Monday mornings. Kind of helps me stay sane over the weekend.

Food so far today:
B--Shredded wheat 'n bran with strawberries and skimmed milk
L--20 cashews, tuna salad sandwich (homemade tuna salad with Lo cal mayo) on 2 slices SGWW bread, lettuce and tomato, 15 cherries.
Dinner--??? Maybe lentil soup--something light.

Jackie--Hope you have a good day today.

Fillise--I was figuring and it seems like you've lost 30% of your goal. That's really impressive. Keep up the good work.

Tech--I love how you set those mini-goals for yourself. Hope you reach that 155 by July 4!!

Just got in from Costco where I spent $200. Most of it was stuff for the wedding, but I did get about $40 of meat for me. I still have a lot to do, and right now, I ought to be working! I need to clean before I can use the kitchen at all...its a wreck from this morning's cake baking. I think I will try and finish up the cakes in the morning, but get the cheese straws done today. Then I need to figure out what to do about the meat balls. I looked at the prepared ones at Costco and had a fit...both brands they had have soy protein in them!

TECH: The Forbidden Rice is actually a black variety. I get it at Whole Foods. Tell you what, if you can't find it, (I kind of doubt you can...I have never seen it anywhere else) I will send you a bag for reaching a goal. We can discuss the goal later. Its fun stuff. Its a blackish purple in color. The flavor is good, too. You can fix it in a regular pot- but the pressure cooker makes it pretty good! Yes, I feel like I am doing much better, and not to belittle the pep talk I was given about cheats, I was already on the straight and narrow when I got that talk...it just helped reinforce the idea in my mind! :) Bubble tea is usually a fruit tea, with large pearls of tapioca..black ones traditionally...in the bottom. The tea is often shaken with milk, hence the name bubble tea, for the bubbles on top. You have to drink it with an extra large straw (think pea shooter!) to get the pearls of tapioca up the straw. Its just fun! Do a search for bubble tea and you will find a bunch of online stores that sell the supplies, and have recipes. Tapioca is not legal, with a GI of 74, and a GL of 16. Interestingly, its lower in both index and load than Cheerios!

PANCHO: I have used the pots! I love using the four quart for cooking rice and small amounts. The larger one I don't feel as confident with. I hope the manual will get here soon and help me figure it all out! :) Why didn't you just smash the centipede and toss it in the toilet and send it to a watery grave? I get really irritated with the big wood roaches we see here sometimes. I will just beat them to death, then toss them and flush...its so gratifying! :)

COUNTRY: Oh! I can't wait for my cherry tomatoes to get ripe! The vines are just overloaded! Nothing but green for right now... :( Way to go on the loss! :cheer:

Oh my gosh I gained 3 lbs. this week. So much for my brother's visit. I could just kick and scream, if I was a tantram throwing person! Hopefully next week will be better. I am trying hard.. Well now its over. I'm sure behind on posting. I went shopping with a friend and we also had to pick up stuff for the local Dairy Shack hamburger stand in our town. We stopped at Steak and Shake and had a giant salad with chicken in it. It was so good and OP to. Just got done reading everyones posts. So guess I'll go fold laundry.

Boy this is a long day. I can hardly keep my eyes open. I think getting up early to do the TM is getting to me.

Gonna run home, fix dinner for the clan (leftover stuffed shells for DH, DD & SIL, and leftover ww pizza for other DD), fix my quiche for tomorrow night and do my wts and out the door by 7:15.

I forgot to tell you all that since DD & SIL have moved back in with us and DD is home from college, the girls have really been doing SB with me. I fix their lunches every night and they eat the dinner I fix. Youngest has lost 10 #'s. Not sure what oldest had done, but she is following it well. They even ask what is for dinner so they can arrange their starchy carbs. I think they are staying at 1 each day too.

Tech, I'll give it one more day and see what it says tomorrow. I would love to use the lower # but it probabl won't hold true. Am I going have to start watching you too? Tech i cut eaxercises out of Fitness and Health magazines and put all of them for each body part together. I do a different body part a day that way it doesn't take too long. The lower body takes the longest.

Thin, pre-vacation weight is a good thing. Sounds like you are really eating healthy now.

Country, WOW 3 lbs is awesome. You and Monet must have gotten together. You so deserve it. Sure wish I could see 158.

Nat, you sure are great at keeping those girls busy. What a good mom you are. They give me gas some, but not to bad. Laxatives only give me gas. Bummer getting your nice bath ruined. Check carefullly next time.

Toni, don't fret over those 3 pounds. They will come off quickly. Don't let it throw you, you were doing so good.

Monet, You crack me up with your pressure cookers. Hope you get those cakes done soon.

Gator, I loved the pics, but they make me hungry.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Howdy:

It is good to be home for the day. It sure is hot here today, around 108, I think.

I just finished off a protein shake (1/2 cup soy milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 banana, 1 cup frozen berries - blueberries, raspberries & blackberries, and 1 scoop Transplex Fat burner protein powder). It was so refreshing!

For BF, I had 2 slices of Ezekial bread w/ peanut butter and fruit preserves. I also had a handful of almonds, a few peanut M&M's, and a chicken snacker from KFC (so not a totally on-plan day, but not so bad either). I will finish it off well. I am going to make some lasagne & salad for dinner.

Jack: That is great that your dd's are sticking to this plan. Are they doing it to lose weight or to improve their overall eating patterns? The girls are busy, but I can't wait until August, when we don't have as much running around to do. In July, we will have Tuesdays totally open, but that's it. In August, we will have most days except M & F open. Have fun tonight.

Toni: Sorry for the gain; you may see a few of those pounds come off in the next day or so; you may have retained some fluid.

Monet: I had nothing to whack the darn thing with. I was in the bathtub, and would have had to get out and dry off and find a shoe (it's much easier yelling for DH  ). I was trying to divert it with a bubble bath bottle until he got there, but it decided to piss me off and join me. I'm glad you are enjoying the pressure cookers (are the lids interchangeable with the other one you have?). Sounds like quite a shopping trip. Is the wedding this Saturday?

Tech: How in the world do bug bombs work? What is in them, and how effective are they? That story about the spider cracks me up. Thank goodness I have girls....we all just scream for dad. My DH actually has a phobia about spiders. He once found a tarantula in his car while driving. He wakes up from time to time sweeping spiders off his body and jumps out of bed due to a dream. It is kinda amusing...to see this 6'1", 170# man jumping out of bed, screaming. If he is not around, I have to be the brave one and take care of "it," whatever "it" happens to be. We had so much rain this past year that we have bugs everywhere. We have a ton of mosquitos. It worries me a bit because we have so many horses around here, and that West Nile gets pretty bad in these parts. Our first year in this house, we found at least 12 scorpions inside the house (they were in the woodwork from the framing of the house). We'll still find one in the house from time to time. We found a 7" centipede out on our patio...it was disgusting! I cannot stand the summer months when the bugs and snakes are out in full force.

O.K., I better go get some stuff done around here. I have to change bedding and get laundry going and prep dinner. I will check in tomorrow.

Take care,
Nat

The best laid plans of mice and men.... :D

Instead of cheese straws, I did the meatballs. I used a recipe in one of the pressure cooker cookbooks I took out of the library and oh, my goodness they are incredible! Not sure what I did wrong with the ones I made before, but these were fantastic. I got about 120 meatballs, but they are expecting 140, so it looks like I need to go get more meat and make another batch. grrr.

My daughters are having a big blow up and I am sick of it. I feel rather badly, but I definitely side with one of them, because the other one is so self centered about time...she is always late and thinks everyone should be fine with it. Well, today, she was over three hours late going to her sister's, and her sister is totally ticked, not to mention hurt that she was treated so shabby. I am trying to stay out of it, but its awfully hard! I want to smack some sense, well, never mind! :s:

Tonight, I guess it will be cheese straws. I still need to fix something for dinner. Poor Tom. He worked out after work, and is probably starving, and his crazy wife is making meatballs for a wedding and no dinner for him. Don't you all feel sorry for him? I do....

I may have to go take a dip in the pool. Its so relaxing, and I certainly need it! I will check back after dinner.

WIW: Well, since I didn't weigh yesterday because I'm trying to break the habit of weighing every day, today is my initial weigh-in. I'm at 160. I've gained about 15 pounds since May of last year. The headache started this afternoon. I just keep telling myself it goes away and so do the sugar cravings. I am monitoring my food and excerise on fitday. I'm also keeping a journal this time. Like you Monet, I'm not worrying so much about serving sizes, just keeping the sugar and enriched flour out of my body. I mowed the yard, did the edging this morning before it got too hot. We had an ozone day but only a yellow in my area. We could use some rain, that's for sure.

Thanks for the welcome back. I will start responding to individuals as I get more time. Right now, it's time to eat before choir practice. It's my last one here. :-( But it shouldn't take long to find a new church in Augusta. There's one on every corner!
I'll be teaching gifted students at my new job, just like I did here.

More later!

Me again :)

B: 1 waffle, 2 sausage links
L: ham/swiss/romaine WW sandwich
S: apple, nuts
D: leftover chicken with peas and SF lowfat frozen yogurt for desert

I think I lost 1 lb... hehe. How often do you all weigh in?

It's difficult having lunch with co-workers. Today, they brought back some fried chicken and potato salad from my favorite chicken place! I moved my lunch up one hour to avoid them, but I could smell the aroma from my office and I was sooooo tempted to snatch one.
....

Monet, I visited the Kroger today and I looked very suspicious. I browsed through all the isles reading labels to plan this weekend's shopping list. The guards probably kept their eyes on me, lol. They did have some good stuff and I got their frozen yogurt. I'll probably be shopping there a lot. I'll look into the Calms Forte. Thanx.

Techwife, thx for the label reading tips. I need to plan my menus better to avoid having starchy carbs in more than one meal.

Jack, that box of pasta did say enriched on the front. Ugh, lol... I must of missed it and went straight to the ingredient list, which looked fine.

Thanks again for the welcomesss everyone!!!

Got the cheese straws done. Tom made me use a heart shaped plate in my press...they will so not like the cutesyness of it! I cleaned up some in the kitchen, and will be all set to bake the last two cakes in the morning. I am SO tired tonight, but my step count is 13,808! I was pretty pleased with that. That is about six miles!

Not much else to report. Dinner turned out awesome! I made pork cubes in gingered plum sauce...in the pressure cooker of course! :) You use a cup of prunes... Do you suppose that is why I am so, um, gassy? :lol3: I served it with whole wheat couscous and salad. I definitely will try that recipe again!

I have not done well on water today, and slipped up and 'tried' two of the cheese straws. I rationalized that I needed to make sure they were seasoned right, and done all the way through. (You can smack me if you want to, Jack!)

I think I will go walk around my room a bit and get the steps up to 14,000! I will NOT go down the stairs again tonight. I am sore all over tonight...from walking, doing calisthenics in the pool, and all the baking and cooking I am doing. I wish I could just stay in bed tomorrow.... and gosh, Sunday is Father's Day! That means I need to fuss over Tom for the day...

Good night everyone!

Hey ya'll! I tried two new recipes tonight and they were great! :T One was a grilled salmon recipe with a sauce that you baste the fish with. It has oj (I used unsweetened of course) soy sauce, garlic, water, oil, basil and parsley. It made such a big batch, I used it to baste some shrimp kabobs I made as well. I aslo made a side dish that I've acually been thinking about for a while. I sauteed some green onion, bell pepper, artichoke hearts and spinach in some olive oil then added some garlic and basil tomato sauce and some pre cooked ww pasta. It was wonderful! I thought it would be a good way to sneak in veggies. Too bad dh and I were the only ones to eat it. The kids were too fascinated with the shrimp on a stick to bother with anything else. I think I'll try the pasta in different combinations and see if I can please everyone eventually! Well I better sign off for now! See ya in the morning!

Hey all--

Today was our 14th wedding anniversary. Dh didn't work today so we went up north to the Indian casino and had lunch. I was so proud of myself. I only ate a dinner salad, 1 small slice of roast beef and some grilled chicken on skewers. Yeah!! I also got in 5.2 miles today. I did not weigh yet, as I want to get a full week in before I dare!!! Also lost all of my money!!!

Dh has to work in the morning, so I am going to try and get our boat all cleaned out. It is getting too much for dh to handle so we are putting it up for sale. With all of his surgery's it is just too darn hard for him to try and get it ready and then haul everything down each time that we go. I try and be the pack mule, but some things are just too heavy for me. The price of gas this year is outrageous, and they also raised our morage fee another $60.00. I am going to miss it though. I would love to see a family buy it. Someone that has a couple of kids and that loves the water. It is just perfect for that. Sleeps 4 without any modifications, more if you want to put them on the front deck......cooking, freshwater and potty are all on board. We have sure had a wonderful time with it........I will miss it.

Menu--
1 slice of cantaloupe 1/2 hour before.....
B--3 T bacon, 1 slice of ww toast with PB&J, Lite 85 yogurt.

L-- 1 small slice roast beef, 4 chicken skewers, dinner salad with bleu cheese dressing.

snack-- 1/4 c Blackberries, 2 sf Nips

D-- Grilled Porterhouse steak, sautee'd onion, green pepper, and mushrooms, 1/2 c green beans.

dessert--1/2 c BB carb freedom ice cream.

Three days down........lots more to go!!!

Jackie-- I too am getting inspired this time.......I even told dh how much weight I have gained back.....so now I know he will be watching me too. I seem to do better that way, I think. Lets motivate each other and get rid of this excess baggage!!

Tech-- I know what you mean about the bread. We have an Amish bakery in the small town where my Mom lives. On St Patrick's Day, I made cornedbeef and cabbage and my Mom brought over a fresh (still warm) loaf of rye bread from the Amish bakery..........I thought I had died and gone to heaven. And of course continued to eat it over the next few days........

Crystal-- Can't wait for our cherry tomatoes. We are like that too, we munch on them all day long. Much better than those darn old corn chips I got a hold of the other day!! We planted two of the sugar snacks and then 5 of the early girls. Soon we should have lots of matoes......if we ever get any hot weather, that is.

Gator-- Glad to hear that you so enjoyed your trip. The food in the pics looks delish.........You did great with the small gain......I would have been big as a barn when I got back!!

Toni-- Hang in ther kiddo.......I am really struggling right now too. But you at least had a legit reason.......company! I seem to just do it for no apparent reason at all.

Monet-- I would be going crazy right now if I had to bake chocolate cakes......are you out of your mind girl???? What are cheese straws?? Can you tell I like in the sticks??

BOB-- Ouch......I pay our insurance monthly.....not so bad that way.

Monring! Just a fly by on my way down stairs to mix and bake the last two cakes! Woo hoo! I can't wait to be done! I can't wait until Monday!

PEASY: Was that a whole wheat waffle you had??

THIN: I got a good chuckle about the kids being fascinated with shrimp on a stick! Do you want to post that recipe on the recipe board? :)

TEENSY: Cheese straws are like a cookie made with cheese. They are rather simple... 2 cups grated sharp cheddar, 1 stick butter, whip it to death and then add 1/2 t. cayenne, 1/2 t salt, and 1 1/2 cups of flour. (you can use whole wheat pastry flour). I put them through a cookie press, then bake at 375 for 10 minutes. I have not made them with ww flour, but was thinking of trying it last night as I was laying in bed, having a hard time falling asleep! :) I believe they are called straws because they are often pressed out in long straw shaped pieces. Made with whole wheat flour, they would be legal, and an awesome snack! I am sorry about the boat. I know you enjoyed it a lot. I hope too, whoever buys it enjoys it as much as you did. You only have seven tomato plants? Gosh, what was Tom thinking? He planted 17! I am going to be buried in tomatoes! LOL

Morning all!

Gorgeous day here so that means laundry in addition to everything else I have to do. Since I still don't have my dryer :( I have to take avantage of the sunny days. I will be in Birmhingham this weekend, so can't do laundry then.

I spent all of Tuesday and Wed. in Montgomery, so I couldn't make WI. I'm going to try to go tonight since I can't go Saturday morning. Since I'll be weighing tonight I expect my "official" weight will be the same or up a little bit. According to my scale at home I'm holding steady. I've been OP so I'm not worried, I tend to lose in chunks and then hold steady for a while, so it is all part of the progress.

Monet--I've always wanted to try cheese straws with WW flour. Since they have no sugar, it would be an ideal party food (I love them anyway). Sounds like you are getting a workout with cooking for this wedding!

BOB--I'm a consultant, so nothing bad about the consultants. . . Look at it this way--it's OVERTIME! I'm rounding up items from Auburn's perfect season to donate for a silent auction--the season is just around the corner!

Nat--I'm so sorry about the problems you are having with your family. I can't imagine what you are going through with them. I know it is a very poor substitute--but we will love you--NO MATTER WHAT!

Jackie--I'm so glad to hear that DH's problem is only an infection. Not that that's insignificant, but certainly more easily treated that what you were afraid of. Be glad he went to the DR and they found it. My DF got an infection a few years ago, but he didn't know it until he spiked a fever of 104 and we had to take him to the emergency room. At that stage it was very hard to eliminate--so tell DH to go to the Dr AS SOON AS he ever thinks the ole prostate isn't working right!!!!!!!

Gator--So when are you having us all over for dinner??????? I love the pictures. My oldest niece and I are thinking about a trip to France to celebrate her HS graduation next summer. I'll be wanting to pick your brain since I've never been before!

Teensy--HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! You did great with your anniversary dinner! Have fun cleaning out that boat!!!!!

Thin--your recipes sound great--thanks!

Peasy--Yeah, it takes awhile to get through a grocery store at first!!!!! Kroger has a brand of SF FF yogurt that is a good lowfat protein fix. It will show more than 3 grams of sugar, but that is from the natural lactose in the milk and is ok. The same will be true for tomatoe sauce. Look for stuff that has no added sugar, but even then most tomato sauces will still have about 8 grms of sugar. That is the natural frucose in the tomatoes and is ok. This is the kind of stuff it takes a while to learn!

J Red--WELCOME HOME!!!!!! When I visit my family in NC I frequently rive through Augusta, so I'd love to visit with you sometime. In fact it is often where I stop for lunch. When are you headed that way? Congrats on your Master's!!!!! The headache will pass!!!!

Everyone else---I hope you have a good OP Day!!!!!! Let's be the biggest group of losers around!!!!

Good Thursday morning ladies.

Got my workout in last night and all my other chores done before I left.
Bunco was fine. Eating was perfect, other than the 2 strawberry dacquiries. :s:

I didn't get to bed until 1:00 and didn't get up this morning at 5:30 to get my TM in. Was planning on doing it tonight, but forgot I have to go get another
epidural today and I doubt that I can do the Tm after that. I will ask the Dr.

Nat, the girls are trying to lose wt. They have relly picked it up one being away at college and the other newly married. They are such pretety girls (think I'm partial) and would look much nicer thinner. Wouldn't we all.

Monet, I'll bet money, there was a great meal waiting for Tom. Wow that is great on your steps. Maybe all th ose steps worked off those 2 cheese straws. There is a recpe ont he board for cheese straws with ww flour. My coworker made them for my birthday the last 2 years. My substitute for cheetos or cheese nips.

Jred, 15 lbs in a year is not that bad. Heck I can do that in a weekend. I'm sure you will get it right back off and get to the goal quickly.

Bob, I was just wondering where you were hiding. Good luck with those consultants. They can drive you crazy. Don't work yourself sick though.

Peasy, pretty soon those other lunches won't bother you (keep telling yourself that). Just keep reminding yourself how well you are doing and how that will ruin your whole plan. I weigh daily, but we have WIW on Wednesdays and everyone posts their loss/gain.

Thin, you are really trying some new recipes. What a good way not to get bored with your eating.

Teensy, Happy Anniversary. Sorry you lost all your money. You did win at eating though! Sad about your boat. We sold ours when the girls started playing sports (many years ago). It was a fun time.

Susan, any word on when you are getting your dryer? Keeping my fingers crossed for a good weigh-in tonight for you.

Fruit, where are you????

Got to go eat my salad. I have to leave around 3:00 to get my shot so I will not be back today. See ya tomorrow.

Monet--See how easy it is to get those steps in. Just working around the kitchen can give you a whole bunch. I strap my pedometer on every morning when I get dressed and it's become a habit every day now.

Yesterday was NOT a good day for me. I worked at the crisis pregnancy center and they have a ton of snacks and goodies there: chips, cheetoes, chocolate, Snickers mini-bars, nuts, and a big tin of cashews. I gave in and had some cashews and by the time I got home I said "the heck with it" and just ate like a nutso case. Anyway, today I'm back to treating myself with respect. I got my two mile walk in and ate a good breakfast of SB pancakes with a fresh peach atop. Now lunch, hmmm. I just don't know what to fix right now.

Fillise--I'll be happy to answer any questions about France. We've been all over that country. Well, not ALL over, but in Paris, Normandy, the Loire valley, and Provence. We also took a barge trip down the Burgundy canal.

Got lots to do today, so this will be short. Hope everyone has a good day.

Ok, here's lunch:
1 slice bread topped with 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 2 oz. cooked and sliced turkey breast, cooked broccoli, and swiss cheese, melted. Sounds weird but is good and satisfying. Also had one whole ugli fruit.

Just flying by again. I got the cake done, though it fell more than I feel good about...but I am NOT making another! Hopefully, it will taste ok with the coconut-pecan icing on it. After I got that done, the bride's mother came by to get some rosemary out of my yard, and she took some catnip and mint as well. I ran up to PartyCity and got all the paper products and she came back by here and got them. Now I don't have to worry about getting there first thing in the morning. She can set up and decorate, and I can go when I am good and ready!

I am about to head on out again and get some cake supplies- boards, boxes, etc.- that I need from the cake supply place, then on to the grocery store for more meat to make more meatballs. After I get them done, I will probably make some ww cheesestraws. I told the bride's mom I was going to keep them in the kitchen for the 'help', ie me...she laughed. She is a whole grain eater too, and will probably be snitching them.... I need to make chicken salad for tarts. I have the tart shells in the freezer- left over from my daughter's wedding three years ago! They taste fine though! Then I will be making sandwiches tomorrow night, and glazing the pound cakes and icing the German Chocolate cakes...then...woo hoo! I will be done! I am SURE I am forgetting something! haha!

I will probably fly by later...

Oh, and confession time- I had leftover chicken stir fry with forbidden black rice, but succumbed to temptation and ate a handful of chips and some onion dip! :o I think I am stressed, but that is not an excuse.

Good afternoon:

We are in for the day. Lane had her class, so I took Britt to the park, until it got too hot. This community center has a walking track inside, so Britt and I went and walked quite a few laps. I didn't have my tennis shoes on, so didn't walk too fast, but nonetheless, I was moving. I think next week when Lane is in class, I will wear my tennis shoes, and my pedometer and see how many steps I can get in.

We will be going out to paint and make some Father's Day cards soon. Our back patio has ceiling fans and is shaded, so it is nice to just set up crafts out there.

I am doing pretty good with eating. I was at 122# this morning, but it is TOM too.

Monet: Great job on steps; they add up so quick. Wearing that pedometer keeps you motivated to get "just a few more." You sure do stay busy!! Good luck with everything Saturday!

Jred: Good idea just getting the right foods into the body, without worrying too much about portion sizes right now. You can worry about that later, if you end up stalling. The important thing is getting the junk out and the good stuff in. Good luck! You will be feeling great soon, and swearing off sugar for good....again!

BOB: We will miss you, but totally understand. Good luck!! We pay our insurance on a quarterly basis; it's not too bad that way, but we are paying for two vehicles too, and it does get so expensive!!

Peasy: We do Weigh-in-Wednesdays here on the board, so we weigh once a week and report it (if we want to). I weigh daily; it keeps me on track and accountable. I usually know if it starts to go up a bit, that I need to make some changes. Good job avoiding that chicken. It is so hard to be in a work environment when you are trying to eat right!

Thin: The recipes sound yummy! I made a similar marinade for my salmon the other night....soy sauce, port wine, water, green onions, garlic....I had the salmon in a bowl in the fridge, and the lid apparently wasn't on tight enough. I opened the fridge and the bowl fell out and the lid fell off, and I had that marinade all over the kitchen floor and inside the refrigerator. It was not fun to clean up at all! I am sure you will find all kinds of great recipes.

Teensy: Happy Anniversary. I can't believe that DH and I are coming up on our 12th Anniversary...where does the time go? Way to go on eating!! Sorry you lost your $; that always happens to me when I gamble...I don't think I have ever won any. So sorry you have to part with your boat; life is all about changes. You have so many happy memories to treasure, and I hope that whoever buys it from you will enjoy it as much as you and your family has.

Fillise: Thank for the sweet words. I always feel overwhelming support here; that is why I am still here...2 years later. Good luck with weigh-in.

Jack: One day off the TM won't hurt you; you've been doing so well! Altho, it would have helped you burn those daquiris off ;) .

Gator: I feel for those who work in an office/work environment. I remember working in an office; there was always junk around. It was always someone's birthday or someone was going out for lunch, or catered office meetings, etc....There were always temptations to avoid. You could've done a heck of a lot worse though!!!

I am going to my first meeting with the physical therapist tonight to start my pelvic floor therapy...wish me luck!

Kids are wanting to go paint, so I gotta go get them set up and find a book to read out on the glider while they do their crafts.

I'll check in later!

Hey gals......

Just checking in before I head back out to vacuum out the boat......everything but the fishing poles has been taken out. I don't know where dh wants to store them, so will leave that to him. I will vacuum and then it is ready to go. Ad comes out tomorrow, so I sure hope we have some takers on it. I hate trying to sell anything.......

Last night when Buddy and I went for our evening walk, he got to nosing around some tall grass, up popped this little baby fawn. I have never seen one so small that close up. She ran across the road and into the tall grass there and layed down. Buddy was good and didn't try too hard to chase after her.........I was holding on to his lease so hard that I got a rope burn when he whirled around to follow her. I sure hope her mama found her on the other side of the road. It was really something to see.

Menu--

B-- 1 c blackberries, 3 turkey bacon, Lite 85 yogurt.

snack-- apple, 4 sf Nips.

L-- Grilled ham and Cheesee WW wrap, 4 oz coleslaw.

snack--???

D-- Leftover S&S beef or steak, brown rice, coleslaw.

dessert-- 1/2 c sf pudding

I am out of veggies now and have got to get to the store tomorrow. I should go to Costco too, but have been putting it off.

Monet-- My piddle little 7 tomato plants are only for our consumption. We have 30 more planted over at my Mom's for canning........can you tell, we do love our matoes........ The cheese straws sound wonderful.....let me know how they come out with the ww flour. I would be willing to try them.

Fillise-- You are doing a great job on WW. I was looking over a diet that my doctor gave me a few years ago. It is actually for diabetics. It is 1500 calories, and just limited amounts of all foods. Guess I could tweak it more to my liking......using whole grains only, and more of the sf items. Will have to see how I do over the next month or so.....

Jackie-- I am of two minds over the boat......for dh's sake, I am ready to get rid of it. I can see how much it hurts him when we use it. We have a really nice futon in the back that we sleep on. I paid $279.00 for an inner spring mattress for it.....he still can't sleep on it without pain. Then I think of all the fun we have had, and all the great fish we have caught, I want to keep it. The boys loved going out on it too. Brant was upset over us selling it.......I told him to buy it, lol. That would have solved the problem for all of us. I would still be able to go out fishing with him, and dh could stay home if he wasn't up to going!!

Gator-- I have had a few too many of those days here lately........ one slip and I say what the hay, and then pig out. Not anymore!! Don't like where I am headed......starting to feel like crap again. I know it is the sugar......Sure had one doozy of a headache on Monday with NO sugar whatsoever!! That's how I knew I was out of control. If I can feel the withdrawals.....I am over the top. Time for me to staighten up and fly right.

Pancho-- Wouldn't you just love to own a 30 foot pontoon boat?? Just think of how much fun you and your family can have. It is the greatest fun, especially when it is hot outside. Just run it up on a beach and go swimming. The kids can jump off the back, or just wade in off the front.........sound like fun??

Hi..

Monet, it was the blueberry Kashi brand. Hopefully those are ok...

Menu:
B: 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 sausage links, apple juice
L: ham sandwich
S: 1 triscuit w/ cheese
S: apple
D: steak, sauteed onions and mushrooms, brown rice... maybe an orange for desert.

Is steak sauce ok? It has corn syrup and raisin paste in it.

Got the meatballs done, and the ww cheese straws are in the oven. I will let you all know how they turn out. :) I used low fat cheese in them too!

I am just beat! There is still so much to do, and I am feeling like it will never get done. Tonight, I need to make some chicken salad, and I forgot to get the stuff I needed for it! Duh! Tom was going to run get me some onions, but he won't like it if I give him a list a mile long! :s:

Next week, I am going to sleep by the pool until Wednesday afternoon...

I just got the cheese straws out of the oven and I am VERY pleased! Here is my recipe:

Whole Wheat Cheese Straws

2 cups grated low fat cheddar cheese
1 stick butter

Cream together very well.
Add:
1 1/2 cups ww pastry flour,
1/2 t cayenne pepper,
1/4 t. ground black pepper,
1/2 t. salt.

Beat very well. Put through a cookie press, or roll thin and cut into small shapes, bake on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes. Cool, store in airtight container. Makes about 4 doz.

I don't think I will use white flour when I make these for receptions again. The whole wheat was better...

I have nothing planned for dinner. Poor Tom just got in from jogging...he is going to have to scrounge for dinner tonight!

Well, off I go again...I have to go get some stuff done! :)

Tonight my 16 year old is having a going away party and my 20 year old made enchiladas and other yummy Mexican things. I'm going to have the biggest salad I can with some of the flank steak and guacamole. But no flour tortillas or chips. Or cookies, candy, and other sweets. Let the teenagers have it, right? I'm going to mix one serving of Ranch dressing with salsa for my salad. And I'm making myself hungry, so I better eat soon. Have a great Friday, y'all.

We had our son and his significant other and her two kids over for dinner tonight, and I did pretty well. I did have some snacks because they were coming at different times and we were gonna eat 7-7:30ish, which is late enough that snacks were needed. I only had a couple of chips. Dinner: 3 ox. flank steak london broil, 1/2 baked potato with butter, salad, cherries. I served a huge bowl of cherries for dessert because it was legal and everyone loves cherries. I also served a 70% chocolate bar we brought back from France, but did not even touch the chocolate. I wasn't perfect, but not bad at all.

This is a quick fly by before I go to bed. My computer gave me an error message when it froze and I had to reboot it this afternoon. It says the hard drive is about to fail and needs to be replaced. It may be because the fan has been messed up and its running hot, but it looks like I am in for a new hard drive and then having to get all my data backed up. Not fun! :( Hopefully James can get that done soon. He and Tom were discussing how large a hard drive to buy...sounds like they will replace my 20 gig with 100 gigs.... wow!

So, if I am not on much for the next few days, that is part of it, along with the wedding on Saturday. I made chicken salad tonight...cooking the chicken breasts in the pressure cooker makes them very flavorful. The salad turned out really good, and I think I am going to have to make home made chicken salad for my men now!

Good night all! Hope to be back before next week!

Sugar wafers are evil...evil I tell you. Okay, they are not evil I am just weak. That's what I ate for lunch. :) I also had a few chips. Mom's house is so full of temptation. But I did have a good supper and a good walk. Bob I enjoyed a wonderful tomato and onion sandwhich.

Colleen...oh man....good luck selling your boat. We lost ours a few years ago. Hopefully when the kids are grown we will be able to get another one. We are only about 10 or 20 minutes from the lake.

Monet...The cheese straws sound delicious. I'm always looking for a good crunchy munchie. Praying your computer holds on till you can get it fixed and all goes well at the wedding.

Jeanie...how did you resist all the goodies?

Poncho...praying your therapy is a success.

Sitting here yawning at the keyboard. I hope hubby gets here soon.

Love and hugs,

Flying by...on Tom's computer. Went to the store at about 7:30 this morning, and now I have polished silver and gotten some stuff ready to run over to the church. The church is way downtown, so its going to take me a long time to get there. I am trying to get James moving....sigh.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will hopefully be on some, but will be busy and can't use my own computer until the guys get it fixed...and who knows when that will be! :(

Good Morning:

Therapy went o.k. last night. I am hopeful that over time, I will see/feel a difference. We plan to meet once a week, and then I will do exercises at home in the meantime. This lady still owns a physical therapy office in New York and runs it long distance. She has owned it for 16 years, and they specialize in women's issues....so I guess I am in the right hands.

We just went over the basic health history and determined how "weak" my pelvic muscle floor is, and she set me up to do kegels this week, and to do a food/void diary. For two days, I have to list everything I eat and drink, and how often I void, and measure my urine. I told her that I urinate at least 10 times a day and she said that was a lot. I drink a ton of water though, and I think I have a smaller bladder than most. Anyhow...I'm on my way!

The girls finished their "homemade' gifts for their dad. Britt made him a paper mache' box filled with hershey kisses and a porcelain sun she made for him. Lane painted a box and filled it with M&M's. They both made him about 20 cards each, and they bought him one too. We will pick up a few balloons today, and we bought him a one-hour massage, which he truly needs/deserves!

I hope to take the girls to the gym with me today, but Lane was up before 6 a.m., so I hope she is not too grumpy when we decide to go. I don't like to go too early because the gym is packed. I like to wait for it to die down a bit. I didn't go on Wednesday. So this will only be my second day this week. I also will not go tomorrow because I have to do the food/void diary this weekend and have to be home.

Teensy: What a beautiful sight....a baby fawn. We have about 20 quail eggs under one of our bushes. We peek at them every day, in hopes of seeing a baby quail, freshly hatched. BUT, they have been there for weeks, and it is mid-June, so I don't know if they are going to hatch or not. The girls will be disappointed. A pontoon boat would be awesome, but not around here. We don't have all the fabulous locations to take it to, like you do there.

Monet: Are you a control freak....like me? Or could you enlist some help from your kids with at least the clean up? Thanks for the recipe; it sounds fun! Sorry to hear about the computer, but it sounds like you will definately be getting an upgrade! Good luck to you tomorrow; I know it will turn out fabulous!

Jred: How'd you do last night? Did you cave, or did you stick to your guns? I mix salsa with Lite Sour Cream, and it is delicious, and less fat than Ranch. I use mostly salsa, but add enough sour cream to make it creamy, and we eat it on taco salads and stuff.

Gator: You didn't do too bad! Cherries are so good this time of year.

Country: Put those evil wafers behind you....yes they are evil! That sugar pulls you in.... . It's a new day and you will do fine.

Well, I am being paged.

Have a great day!

I'm in shock...this house ugly house (http://nnymls.com/realtor/idx2/summary.asp?Listing_ID=70231&id=646E7A63743D7776666B7A2B75713160706B&fn=6172005114834) , which is right next door to mine...is up for sale for 59,000!! The owner bought it for 25,000 just last summer and has done nothing with it except dump a huge pile of dirt in the yard right outside my kitchen window. This house had a really bad water leak about three years ago. It hasn't been lived in since we've lived here, but the old owner had a friend that would come up and go fishing and stay there and apparently they used the plumbing, but didn't flush the pipes before leaving and then they burst in the wintertime and nobody knew it until it could be seen from the outside. Our neighbor across the street sort of looked after the place...so, when the old owner finally put it up for sale, my DH and I and my dad went through it and you could actually feel the living room floor sogging under your feet. The basement had about four feet of standing water and the whole place is filled with mold. Oh, and two things with the kitchen...the ceiling is caving in AND the old owner's aunt used to live there alone (way before we moved in next door) and she fell on the kitchen floor and died and nobody found her for weeks until the guy across the street went to check on her. I tell you...it is inhabitable and needs to be torn down...and the new owner is insane to ask such a high price for it. My house was built simultaneously with this one in the 1880's and it's really nice...I'll try and attach a picture of mine...we bought ours for 45,000 five years ago. Can you believe he's asking so much??? So, now the owners are scrambling to make the poor old house acceptable and taking out the trash left behind from the old owner and the dirt is to grate the lawn and put in new seed...but that doesn't change the fact the living room floor feels like a trampoline and that it's unsafe to live in with airborne pollutants!! Anyhow...I'm just frustrated, but at the same time, hoping they DO sell it for that much because OURS will be next up for sale for more like 100,000!! I did attach a picture of my house below with a few Christmas decorations on it...you can see the rotting house in the background, too...it's amazing difference a few attentive homeowners makes. We've put a lot into our house...new windows, insulation, drywall, etc. And we'd just painted it last summer and added shutters.

Anyhow...we still have one more partial week left of school. I took DD to her Middle School orientation yesterday. Now I'm really excited for her. The middle school was built within the last 15 years and everything is new and shiny. And the teachers are sooo nice. She's going to have a ball. She's signed up for band (will play clarinet) and chorus and it will be a whole new world for her. I told her I felt like I was on the set of Lizzie McGuire and I think that made her feel excited, too!! Whatever works!!

Today is our last GS meeting and I'm only giving out their badges and maybe I'll order pizza. I have to balance the GS checkbook to be sure we have enough cash. I had pizza last night, but I'm still at 159 this morning, so no harm done except for the pound I might have lost if I hadn't eaten the pizza.

So, I don't have much time for replies at the moment...I have to do a sweep through the house and pick up clutter...which always seems to be everywhere!! Oh, and next week, I'm taking my kids to Rochester for a few days to stay at the Holiday Inn we like and go to Darien Lake (a Six Flags park) and to another park called SeaBreeze. I may only go to Darien Lake this time and then to SeaBreeze another time. But I leave on Sunday morning and then I'm going to my nephew's HS graduation and then I'll stay the rest of the week until Thursday and will also go out to lunch with some of my old co-workers that I miss.

Okay...I'm really leaving now. I'm on my second liter of water for the day...I'm going to try and make it 4 liters, which is about 130-something oz. Talk to you guys later!!

That's the only thing that got me last night. Looking back and analyzing the pieces I pinched off, I think I probably ate the equivalent of 2. That's better than I could have done. And I didn't eat any of the flour tortillas or chips/dip and candy. Considering my eating habits of the last several months, I count this as somewhat successful.

I ate a container of Lite 85 vanilla cream yogurt mixed with 12 almonds and a half cup of frozen mixed berries for breakfast. It's really good and you feel like you're having a great treat.

BOB: I love your baby!!! I have 2 chihuahuas. I'll try to post a picture for you sometime.

Nat: I hope whatever physical problems you are having are cleared up soon and that your family problems don't get the best of you. It's sad when family issues get to such a point. Just love your little ones all that you can.

Monet: Has it been 3 years since your daughter got married??? Time flies. I remember your preparations like they were yesterday.

Fillise: You sound just as busy as ever. I hope WW is going well for you. I have a friend who followed WW with SB. She said she needed the portion control of WW.

Crystle: Is it as hot down your way as up here? I hoped we'd get rain last night but it fizzled out before it got to us.

Gator: I'd love to have a vacation like yours! I'm hoping to make it to Italy someday to see Tuscany and Florence.

JackK: I hope your DDs continue the good eating that they are learning from you. My DDs try, but are addicted to cokes.

I'll check in again later today. I'm on my way to visit some relatives and say goodbye.

THANK GAWD IT'S FRIDAY....HELLOOOOOOOO ALL MY BUSTIN BUDDYS!!!!

WHEW....WHAT A WEEK!!! I plan to recline and watch movies all weekend long. Just hoping that when I go down to BLOCKBUSTER that everything I want is there!
One of our Directors died last night and we've all been pretty bummed about that today. She was over the DAY CARE and all the little ones called her "Miss AMY ...wonder how they told them today...they all know that she's been sick (breast cancer) and she hasn't been there a lot over the last few months. Her Life Partner is my Director, so this has hit pretty close to our little family at work. The good thing about it is that she is finally at peace. Keep her family in your prayers tonight...the days to come will be the hardest!

The stress at work is unbelievable...and you know BOB, when she's stressed, she eats! I'm actually thinking about asking my Dr for some Phentermine...somethings got to give. I'm going to be right back up to 292lbs if I don't watch out! As my ticker says, I had gotten down to around 249lbs and was moving right along.... :mcd: :ebike: :cookie: :wl: :hun: :tread: :yikes:

JEANNIE....How much do your Chihuahua's weigh? I took Tippy the other day for her allergy shot and she had gained....9.1 lbs! THEN, my Vet told me about a problem this breed has when they get overweight....their little knee cap starts popping out of joint! She's on diet food, and I've GOT to QUIT giving her goodies! What color are yours?
GAWD...I'm so glad you're back....CONGRATS to your DS for getting through
the academy...seems like only yesterday that y'all were taking him to begin.

MONET....I LOVE CHEESE STRAWS....I'll have to try that recipe! Girlfriend, you deserve that snooze :beach:

KRIS...there are people who would KILL to buy that house down here....let me give you a little story....Two doors up, the house went on the market Memorial Day weekend....$299,000  THEN, if that wasn't bad enough, the house next door to me went up for sale $325,000....now the history...I live in a very layed back neighborhood...all the houses were built from 1958 to 1972....6yrs ago, I paid $68,000 for my house (1200 sq ft) and I have a lot of yard. These first house is smaller than mine and hardly any land, the next door house is bigger and pretty good sized yard...I about peed my pants when I saw these prices...I know that my house has trippled in value (maybe more), but if I sold it, I couldn't afford to buy anything else! I would love to have a nice sized condo and let them worry about the maintenance, but this place has gone crazy with the real estate! GAWD FORBID something happens to Kate, its the perfect size for one person to live in comfortably....HOW DO THESE PEOPLE AFFORD THESE PAYMENTS????? It just amazes me!

NAT...sounds like you and the Girls have been busy getting ready for Father's Day...those are cute gifts, and they will mean so much more to your DH with them being made by his Girls!

CRYSTLE...what's coming up in the garden? I swear, I'm coming out there and pick me a mess of something!

GATOR....So glad y'all are home safe and sound. Sounds like you had a great time. I loved the pictures...especially the one of DH sitting there waiting to see how many more bags you can pile up for him to carry!
Sounds like you enjoyed your cooking class...that would be so interesting....
We're watching the UT - FLA baseball game...Kate has been glued to the tube since it started!

PEASY....{{{{{{{{WELCOME}}}}}}}}}} I don't think I got to tell you how much we're glad that your here!

JACKIE...don't worry, these people won't get BOB down too much...it's just nerve racking when they bring in these people!

SUSAN....I know you're a consultant, but not this kind....Don't worry, we don't hire REPUBLICAN CONSULTANTS so you're off the hook! :s:

COLLEEN...what's up out your way? How's your furbaby????

Hope I didn't miss anyone....Have a great weekend EVERY BUDDY!!!

BOB: So sorry to hear about Miss Amy. It's really yucky to lose someone so closeby.

And..and addendum to my house story. I re-read my post and I think I sounded a little arrogant. What's really miffing me about that ugly house is that we'd really like my brother in law to buy it as is and then we'd fix it up. My house was almost as bad as that when we bought it (except no rotting floors and no mold problems) and it looks as nice as is does now because we fixed it. What a chore... :dizzy: But this guy is selling a rotting house and will probably patch things up and sell it as is without really fixing it and will...well, have you seen the movie Money Pit with Tom Hanks? Well, it'll be like that. WE KNOW it's secrets and can FIX them not patch them, but for 60K...he has to be smokin something! We were going to offer him 30K and if nothing else, tear it down and build a two bedroom ranch for my BIL. My MIL is in the final stages of brain cancer and they live in Los Angeles, and my BIL is looking to move up here by us when she goes. Next door would be perfect...so I'm just miffed is all...60K to live in a house that you would literally get sick to live in!! And we'd love to have family living next door to us!! :)

OKAY...so Girl Scouts is over for the year and I have one mom (the one that forgets to pick up her daughter from meetings from time to time) that owes me $100 in GS cookie money. I've called her five times and she says she has to go and she'll call back and then never calls back. I think I might have to sick GS council on her. I hate to do that. This is a dinky town and I want to keep as many friendly faces as possible. So, I'm miffed about that, too!!

Okay...going to sit with the family...talk to you guys later...Kris

Just a quick check-in:

I did get to the gym today, and then took the girls to Chick-Fil-A, and then to the grocery store to get a few things. I am now homebound for the weekend so I can do my food/void diary.

My DH won't be home until around 7 p.m. tonight; he was out of town today. I am going to make a light dinner for me and the girls, and indulge in one of my Smirnoff Twisted in a few.

I found some 2% cheese sticks today. I don't like the fat free ones, but these s/b fine. I also found some small Ezekial tortillas as Sprouts yesterday; they are more like soft taco size. I also found sprouted grain english muffins by Food 4 Life; they are pretty good.

The weekend s/b pretty laid-back.

Monet: I got the check today; thanks! The Monet card was very pretty.

Jack: Feel better; sorry you had to get sick for the weekend.

Tech: Wow, sounds more like a demolition project than a sale. Your DD will love middle school; how exciting for her. Did she see Hillary Duff on the Today show today, singing for the summer concert series? Don't force yourself to drink all that water if your body is not wanting it. Too much water can be as bad for you as not enough.

Jred: I love Lite 85 yogurt w/ nuts and cinnamon...yum! You did great last night!

BOB: Howdy. So sorry to hear about your director. Try not to let the stress make you eat; you know food is not worth it!!! Sounds like your housing market is like ours. Houses are going for waaaay more than they are worth here.

The kids are buggin me, so I gotta go.

Have a great weekend!!

Hey, guys. I have fallen off the wagon in a big way. I've eaten basically what I've wanted since last week! No binges, but overeating bad foods. I don't think anyone has ever gained and lost and regained the same 10 pounds for as long or as often as I have. Ridiculous. I need a really good kick you know where! So back on the wagon I go, first thing in the morning. Will I learn my lesson this time? Time will tell. Anyway, I plan on staying home this weekend other than church Sunday. No excuses. Oh yea, I just got around to downloading some pics off my dig cam that I took in April and May. Here's a couple of Boogie and 1 of me in my cap with hair tucked back(no I haven't cut my hair off). I was really mad because almost all of Boogie's pics from his party didn't turn out. The first is Boogie and kids at his bday with Spiderman cupcakes. The second is Boogie and 2 friends at my friend's house. The third is me at my friend's house. I'll be back to check in tomorrow, time for some sleep!

A new phrase from the board: A flyby. I love it, being a naval aviator's mom!

So yesterday I went to visit the relatives and ate some snack mix my aunt put out. Then came home and peeled off left over steak and cheese from the enchiladas from the party and had a serving of Triscuits with it. But then I had a major problem with those rise krispie treats. But today I don't even want to eat anything. I think stress got me last night: A $300 electricity bill and a bump-in with my brand new car and a pole at the car wash. My DH got me a 2005 Mustang convertible for graduation and now it has a bo-bo by the headlight! I can't tell him yet. He's coming home Friday to help us move and I'll have to spill the beans then, but I just can't tell him over the phone.

Today will be a great day, food wise. I got that out of control feeling out of my system!

BOB: Belle is about 7 pounds and Rocky is 3 lbs. He was the runt of Belle's litter and had several spots on his head that weren't closed, plus he was only as long as my middle finger, so I didn't want to risk some little kid hurting him. Chihuahuas can get overweight, just like us! My DH's grandparents had one of our pups once and he grew to be about 21 pounds! They just spoiled him rotten and he did suffer medical issues. You might also feed your baby on a specific schedule and you're right, keep the treats away.

Kris: I am about to put my house on the market and know what you're talking about. We live in a popular area, and up until a couple of years ago, there weren't any new houses in the range we are asking for ours. Now, cheap builders are popping up houses all over. People buy the new ones, not thinking about the quality of them. Our house is 20 yrs. old, but has 4 brms, and is on a beautiful lot with mature trees. The next door neighbors house has been for sale for many months, but we are going to ask 10K less and there's about 400 more sq.ft. and an extra bedroom in ours. Think good thoughts that we sell quickly, everyone!!!

I'm sorry I didn't respond to everyone. I've got to get off my duff and move!

Later!

Today I got up early and went to the Farmer's market. My DH was playing golf for some charity so I went by myself. Then I walked for about 30 minutes down in the little village, but it is so danged hot that I didn't have much energy. I got some great finds: a 100% WW sourdough round chewey loaf of bread. Yum, it was good. Also found some shrimp with the heads on, and I will fix them tonight. I'm hoping that they will cook up better than the last regular shrimp I did, which exuded too much juice. I think most shrimp are dipped in some sort of chemical mixture, kind of like most chicken, to chill them fast. But that just causes them to lose juices when cooked. I'll see if these do better. Also got some fresh thyme in a pot for adding to my herb garden, and some fresh lettuce.

Breakfast today: 1 boiled egg, 1/2 WW english muffin with 1/2 T. butter and 1 tsp. SF jelly, 1/5 melon wedge.
Lunch: Iced tea, 15 cherries, tomato and avocado sandwich with lettuce and LF mayo. Mmmm good.
Dinner will be shrimp sautéed with garlic and parsley. And something else but don't know what yet.

I weigh Monday morning to see if my careful eating has made any difference. Then for 2 weeks I will try to drop the calorie count down about 100 Kcals per day. If I rotate up and down I'm hoping that it will keep my body "off balance" and I won't struggle as badly with plateaus. Although "plateau" is my middle name, so It will be a struggle no matter what. Yesterday I actually got 15230 steps!!! I was surprised.

We'll I'm gonna go relax in front of the TV. I'm finishing up the last 2 embroidery squares on a cross stitch throw I've been working on for the past 20 years. Hope to get it done within a month.

Hey everyone! The wedding is over, and Monet is totally and completely exhausted! It went well...the food was a good amount without too much left over. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and I got many compliments...the mother of the bride was very happy...the bride and groom came to tell me thank you and hug and kiss me. I was very happy to crawl in the back seat and let Tom do all the driving with James riding shotgun. I am going to go put on my bathing suit and float around in the pool. Ah! I hope the water is not too warm! :)

I will probably get on later and do replies. No word yet on my computer getting fixed.... oh well!

Hey, all. I'm so stuffed! I ate wayyy too much! Legal, but too much. I was doing good until supper. At least we ate early, around 5. I had a peach and plain yogurt(with splenda and cinnamon)for bf, a grapefruit for snack, and I wasn't that hungry for lunch so I had a boiled egg, a slice of ham rolled with a slice of cheese. Supper-- I had a big hamburger patty and...pigged out on sweet potatoe fries. The kids didn't like them at all, which is what I figured. They only eat sweet potatoes if I drench them with splenda, butter, and cinnamon. Hubby thought they were okay and ate some. Me, well, I loved them and couldn't stop eating them. So I probably had 5 starches all in one meal! I'm trying to tell myself that it was alot better than eating a large McDonald's fry. I did a workout earlier today, but after eating all that, I plan on going for a walk/jog around 7. Need to burn some calories. Alright, I need to go.

Speaking of chihuauhas, I have 2. Spunky Brewster and Samson. Spunky is the Mama dog and Samson is 3 months old. They are both black and white spotted. I'll have to take a pic of them soon and post it.

All right ladies...here's another new recipe that we tried. It was good, but a little dry. I will probably add some chicken broth or doctor it some way next time.

Cheesy Rice Casserole
1 tbsp oil
1 med onion chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 bell pepper chopped
1 medium carrot grated
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
2 cups cooked brown rice
4 oz green chilis
4 oz low fat cream cheese
1/2 tsp basil
leftover chopped cooked chicken
4 oz cheddar cheese

heat oil in skillet and add first 6 ingredients. Cook till tender. In large bowl combine rice, chilis, cream cheese, basil and chicken. add cooked veggies and stir to combine. Spoon into casserole dish and bake at 375 for 30 min. Remove from oven and sprinkle with cheddar.

it would probably be good with some cream of mushroom soup added too. Kroger brand has no sugar added (sorry Bob!) Well, I better get off now and get some things done before bedtime!

Just a fly by... Made Tom breakfast in bed and two cups of espresso. We are going to church this morning so we can spend time with the kids tonight. (Ruth and Erik and Laura all work until 4 or 5 today...) I am making dinner...my MIL's style stew beef, brown rice, squash casserole (with homegrown squash! Yum!) home grown green beans, and probably some fruit for dessert.

For breakfast I had 2 eggs, and 1 white scrambled with cheese and ham, two pieces of sausage, and espresso, and a few grapes.

I hope everyone is doing well...and all the father's in our lives are having a great day.

Still no progress on my computer. :(

AFTERNOON EVERY BUSTIN BUDDY!!

It's a quiet Sunday here in Sarasota. Tried to call my Brother to wish him a Happy Father's Day. He's fishing and doesn't have his phone on so I'll call him later.

Hot down here, but not as hot as it has been. We're expecting some afternoon thunder storms http://bestsmileys.com/storms/10.gif

Hope EVERYONE is enjoying their day with DAD!! http://bestsmileys.com/party/2.gif

Good afternoon..... Busy trying to make my DH a nice Father's Day.... But most of all he's enjoying just relaxing. I'm back to eating right but am struggling. Of course when I got off on my eating with my company I'm having a horrible time getting back on. I'll just keep working on it. Mean while send the wagon around. This is a quickie....
