Wow--it's 10:15 central time and I'm the first one here after Monet started the board. I guess everyone is either sleeping in or out having fun.

Don't forget to party within reason--use those 100% WW hamburger and hotdog buns for your cookouts and back away from the chips!!!!!!!

It's rainy here today so no fun in the sun for me. Although I am a bronzed babe these days. I'm using the Jergens Natural Glow and must say I really like the results. It took forever to find it, but I finally got my hands on a couple of tubes at Walmart last week.

I hope everyone has a good OP day!

Good afternoon,

Today is a lazy day. Dh and I lazed around the bed until around 9.30am. Jess was our pretend "mother" and she took care of her 2 sicked kids...lol, may I say 2 BIG sicked kids...lol. She gave us few shots to make us few better, made us some pretend food and also gave us some medicine...lol.

It has been raining here since yesterday afternoon and hasn't stop since. Kind of a little depressing because I was hoping to get out to do some yard work today. My daylilies are in the pots and the flowers are blooming so beautiful. It would be nice to put them in the ground to be able to admire them better. Dh and I will be going out to check out some backsplash tiles at a liquidator store later. After that, we should be home doing a little grilling of our own. I am thinking of checking with my nextdoor neighbor to see if they have any plans, if not, I hope they could join us for dinner. I am going to cook anyway...an extra 2 persons won't be trouble at all. Dessert will be watermelon which is not legal but better than some cakes or pies. I know I can stick to a decent portion control plan :)

So far my menu for today :

Breakfast : 2 medium pancakes, 2 small sausages, scarmbled eggs and 1/2 cup of soymilk. Yep, I was hungry...lol.

Snack : A small bowl of watermelon. I have been having hugh craving of watermelon lately...it is definitely my fav fruit :)

Lunch : A medium bowl or pasta fazool neopolitan soup (store bought brand that I ocassionally used) which is pretty good and hearty. I felt like a lighter and simple lunch since we are having a "heavier" dinner.

Snack : Might be a small bowl of watermelon. Maybe even have some nuts.

Dinner : Grill filet mignon, coleslaw, baked beans, low carb potatoes and maybe a roasted marinated broccoli or pan-seared fennel.

FILISE : Hello Fillise!!! It is cool and rainy here too. Hope you have a wonderful day today.

EVERYONE ELSE : Have a good day as well!!!!

Julia

Hello,

I'm a newbie. I'm not going to enter what I ate today because it was not good. I'm still in that "sugar addiction" phase and trying to get on track. So this seems like a good place for me. I'm pretty good about exercising but food and eating is another matter altogether. I welcome any tips. Hope everyone is having a good day and doing better on the old eating thing that I am!

Good afternoon everyone! I got sidetracked this morning and never got any challenges posted. Sorry! As you can tell from the time, I thought today was Sunday and did not think to start the new board until late! :o

I just woke up from a nap...not sure how long I slept, but it felt really good. I had a kitten sleeping on my legs too. Kept me nice and warm! :)

Breakfast was an oat bran muffin and a few pieces of bacon. Lunch was a homemade ww waffle and two slices of bacon. Not sure what dinner will be, but I need to decide soon! Probably something in the pressure cooker! The Mexican meat mix turned out so good, I can't wait to make some more! And beans...oh my its fast!

James is up and around more and more, and we may go over to the outlet mall and walk later. Its 3/4 of a mile around on one floor, and makes for great walking when the weather is wet and icky like today.

FLANNEL: Welcome! We are glad you are here! This is a wonderful bunch on here, and we all struggle together, and offer encouragement. I hope you find all the support you need to achieve your goals here. Please just jump right in! Ask any questions you might have, and I am sure you will get plenty of advice. We have a few big losers on here, and a few long term Sugarbusters. Its kind of slow today, but will pick up tomorrow, after the holiday, I am sure! :)

KENG: I guess you did not see the post from the other day...please tell me the name of the restaurant you went to that was a buffet, and had scallops and stuff! Where is it? If it is north of you, that would be perfect for me! ;)

FILLISE: Its rainy here too...the youth group party in my pool was moved to a movie party at the leaders house. That was a bit of a relief, since the pipes are all still pretty torn up....hopefully it will get more livable by the big bbq and pool party next Saturday....

Good afternoon ya'll. Looks like the rain is making its rounds. I can't tell you how glad I am to see the little bit we are getting. My garden is soaking it all in. The squash is especially loving it. Eating has been so so. Looking forward to a good week this week.

Welcome Flannel Annie!

Hope you are all having a safe holiday.

Love and hugs,

Hey yall! I'm also glad to have the rain, but I hope it all drops this week and turns beautiful and sunny just in time for next week! :beach:

We went to a family reunion yesterday and eating shot right out of the water!
There was fried chicken, potato salad, creamed corn, lasagne, any kind of salad you can think off, and desserts galore! But it was sooo good! :hungry:
I ate till I felt I would pop!

Today we went to my inlaws for what was supposed to be a cook out. Instead we cooked the burgers inside and has a few chips and fruit for dessert. Kind of a boring, rainy day. The weather channel is calling for rain all week:rain: , so much for the first week to be out of school for the summer!

Hope you all have a great week!

Flying by... I have a pot of chicken soup on. Pressure cooker pot of course! :)

BOB: Go ahead...rub it in! Its gray, wet and cold here in Hotlanta...

THIN: Ah, family reunions! Its so hard to resist all those traditional foods, isn't it?

COUNTRY: Thanks for the reminder! All this rain will probably boost the growth rate on those little squashes I saw two days ago! :)

Gonna go check my chicken soup...

MONET : I did reply to you on last week's board and also enclosed the link to the restaurant's website as well. It's called, The Blue Willow Inn. Have you been there?

Sorry, didn't have time to do replies tonight but will catch up with the rest of you tomorrow :)

KENG: I had missed that post...thanks for pointing it out. I have not been there, or heard of it! It sounds amazing, and I think I will try and get Tom to go there for a special night out on a Friday soon.... Maybe if he takes a Friday off, we can get there right at five. Another great place to try that has wonderful food is PittyPat's Porch. Its down town. I remember their salad bar was the most incredible I had ever seen. Its been a few years since we went there...we don't do all you can eats much! :) Another great place is the Smith House in Dalonega, which is family style. (they put bowls of stuff on each table)

Good Morning! It feels like Monday! Its gray, and a bit wet here in Hotlanta...no complaints as we needed the rain and it has cooled the temps a lot. I slept like a log last night. It sure felt good, but I had weird dreams! Maybe it was the glass of port I drank just before bed.... ;)

I need to get some stuff done this week, as I have a large party here on Saturday. You all keep me on task ok?

I am going to go find some breakfast, and make some coffee or tea or something to help wake me up! Be back in a bit...

Good morning,

I woke up early today to get ready for my almost 26 weeks check-up. I was the first to get there and also the first patient, loved it! Baby "Junior" is doing great, active as ever while I have put on quite a bit of weight in the last 6 weeks...9 lbs!!! Boyy...I know it is reasonable to put on about 1/2 lb to 1 lb every week but 9 lbs in 6 weeks?? Anyway, the midwife is not concern at all but I was a little shocked. I better be more watchful of what I eat but definitely won't be on any diet or starvation. I know I have eaten more illegal meals lately (like the southern buffet last Sat??? LOL) so need to watch that.

Nothing much planned for today, probably just a quick trip to Publix to get few items. I believe we will get some more rain today so will probably stay home rest of the day. I need to do some cleaning too. Sighh..

Menu for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle and 2 small breakfast sausages.

Snack : Soy milk and probably some fruits.

Lunch : Baked/pan-seared basa fish served over pesto pasta with asparagus and clams.

Snack : Fruits and yogurt.

Dinner : Not exactly sure yet.

Some replies :

FLANNEL : Welcome to our board. It is great to have you here and ask as many questions as you like. My tip is don't be afraid to ask any questions, no matter how small they are. We are here for each other.

MONET : Glad James is recovering well. Yes, Blue Willow is great especially when you need an authentic southern food experience, food and all. It was so worth it for me to go off plant here...lol. Fri and Sat has better menu as they have a combination of seafood and southern buffet as well. It is a little pricey on both days but it is so worth it. Definitely worth the treat once in a blue moon :) I haven't heard of PittyPat's Porch but sounds like a wonderful place.

COUNTRY : How are you? So, the rain made it at your place too huh? I think we will get more today.

THIN : Should I come with my wagon...lol. Gathering are hards and I had my fair share of "not-so good" choices last week :)

BOB : Yay, yah....good weather huh? Sure you don't need some rain?? :)

Guess that's it for now. I need to get the house cleaned. Have a good day everyone!

Good Tuesday morning Ladies. Hope everyone had a great long weekend.

It is hard to remember that it is Tuesday and not Monday. Love a short week.

The graduation party was a great success. We had 98 people and plenty of food. Everything is cleaned up and moving on to vacation thoughts.

Definately back on track today. In fact, I am only have 1 starchy carb a day for this month. I want to lose 20#'s by vacation (July 1st). Not sure what I can do in the exercise dept other than walking. My back is killing me, I guess from being on my feet for 3 days straight. So I am going this afternoon to get an epidural. Hoping that does the trick. I can't even get out of a chair by myself now.

Julia, what do you use for baked beans? I can't find any with low sugar. I know watermelon and pineapple, & bananas raise your insulin level, but fruit can't be that bad. Like you say, much better than cakes.

Susan, sorry it is so gloomy there. we have a beautiful weekend. Will have to check out that tanning lotion. I just bought some ww Sara Lee buns, but they have 210 calories and 7 grams of sugar. And they are huge. I will have only half when I use them. Have a good day.

Flannel Annie, Welcome. This is a great place for support. Ask any questions and someone will have an answer.

Country, Glad you are enjoying the rain. You always seem to make lemonade out of lemons.

Thin, sorry you Ga girls are getting so much rain. Keep it down there.

Got to run and get busy since I have to leave around 1:00. My boss is going to love that one.

Morning all! A really yucky day here--I didn't even want to get out of bed this morning!

I managed to get through Memorial Day with eating intact. I guess the fish fry last week waas the worst part of the week for me!

Jackie--Glad to hear that the party was a success, but sorry to hear that your back is bothering you. Where are you going for vacation this year? Im really liking the natural glow--give it a try! I saw the Sara Lee Buns too, but then my Kroger had some smaller 100% WW buns right next to those with less sugar, so I opted for the smaller buns. I have one more patty and one more bun, I may have a hamburger for lunch today!

Julia--If your weather is like ours today--don't go out of the house! I've never been to Blue Willow--but heard if it--it's very famous! I have been to Pitty Pat's Porch on several occasions--YUM! You and Jess have a good day today.

Monet--Sorry your pool party got rained out. Maybe you can do it later in the summer for the youth! When I was a little girl, my Daddy took me to Pitty Pat's Porch when we visited Atlanta. I've been back many times since and always enjoyed it. I was there four or five years ago last and that salad bar was still there!

BOB--I'm coming down for your sunshine--hang on, I'll be there in a little while!:D

Thin--Those family reunions are the WORST--all the family cooks in full swing. Just get back on track today!!!!!

Country--Enjoy the rain! I know in Texas it is feast or famine with the water!

Flannel--WELCOME! I remember trying to get the sygar out of my system--you have to be real careful to read labels and to not get refined sugars. After a couple of weeks, you really do lose your taste for sugar, so hang in there!

Alright--breakfast this morning was a bowl of Fiber One cereal and a 1/2 cup of milk and a small peach. I think I will cook that hamburger for lunch (with a salad) and bake some salmon and a sweet potato for dinner.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Susan

JACK : Glad your graduation party went well. Wow...98 people, you are so brave...lol. Yes, some fruits have more sugar than the others. If I eat them, I eat them in smaller portion each time so my body does not require a lot of insulin to get rid of the sugar and also that it doesn't raise my blood sugar to a higher level. My blood sugars have been pretty good with most fruits unless I got overboard with them. Fruits to me have so much benefits, vitamins and lots of fiber :) Just portion control at each time. Any good stuff eaten way too much can cause trouble too, so in moderation is definitely the key to me. I love a good cake or pecan pie once in a while too...yep, once in a while :) As far as baked beans, I know there are recipes to make legal ones but I do not have the patience for it. I usually choose Bush's baked beans (with onions) that has 6 grams of sugar per serving. I know that is 1 gram over than the 5 gram rule for SB but for ocassion treats, it doesn't bother me. I also try to eat less than 1/4 cup which is a serving. I took my blood sugar after yesterday's dinner (with baked beans etc) and it was well-within the okay range. One more tip is, eating protein with carbs (fruits, rice etc) help slow down the absorption of the carb/sugar into your system. You might already know this :)

Wow, was I surprised to see 15 posts on a Monday....but then realized it's already Tuesday. I hope you all had a nice, long, safe weekend. Ours was good; just got a lot done around the house.

I was at 123.5# this morning, but my eating was not good over the weekend. It is time to get serious and back on track. I need to start reading all my anti-sugar books, and get back on the wagon and stay there until vacation.

I worked out last M,W, F & Sat. I also worked out yesterday, and plan to on W, F & Sat this week too. If I get my eating on track, I'll be doing great!

I don't have much time, as we will be leaving for Lane's swim lesson soon, and then for Britt to get her hair cut, and then out for pizza.

Fillise: I guess I should have read your post yesterday  . I did eat the WW buns, but ate too many chips with dip...and watermelon, and peach pie and ice cream.......I've heard good things about that Jergen's skin dye. A friend of mine uses it and it looks like she has been spending long days in the sun.

Ken: My kids love to play doctor AND hairstylists; you should see some of the things they do to my hair (ha). I am sure you are still holding on to some of that weight from Saturday's dinner. You are so small, and can afford to gain a little bit more during your preg. anyway. You eat healthy at least 90% of the time, so I would just be encouraged that that little boy is the one putting on the weight, and not you.

Flannel: Welcome aboard! Have you read the SB book yet? I would encourage you to do so; it is so helpful in understanding why this way of eating works so well and makes so much sense. I am going to be pulling it and some others out of the closet and re-reading them for motivation and to get my butt back on track. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions anytime.

Country: Glad your garden is getting some rain.

Thin: I'm glad you enjoyed spending time with family; that's so important! Too bad, all that bad food has to accompany those functions, eh? I hope you get some sunny weather soon.

BOB: Howdy. Did you get that little munchkin all bathed? How often do you bathe him? We got both of our dogs bathed this weekend out in the hose in the yard (they are 45# & 80#), so not the best job in the world. They feel so much better though.

Monet: Thanks for starting the boards, as always. I am glad you are enjoying your pressure cooker; it sounds as if you are making a lot of great foods. Glad you are sleeping better and that James is getting up and around a bit more.

Jack: SUCCESS!!! I knew your party would be nothing but successful. I am glad all turned out so well. Good luck with that 1 carb a day; are you eating it early in the day? I think I need to say...no starchy carbs beyond BF or lunch. I need to get the sugar back out though. I need to re-read my books and remind myself that that stuff is poison to our bodies!

Well, I still gotta get dressed.

Have a great day!!!!

I am on a roll today, 3 posts so far and it is not even 2pm...lol. Just finished my lunch and I think I over-eat a little since I actually feel full. That is the problem when I don't eat my snack :)

Some Replies :

FILLISE : I agree....gloomy day but I am determine to get out of my house. I think Jess is about to go nuts as well...lol. Even a small trip to the store would help at this point. Hope the day goes better for you. You should visit Blue Willow Inn, it is fabulous and I understand why it is so famous. The food and southern atmosphere really live up to its reputation. Make sure you make a reservation if you plan to visit it, especially if it is on Fri, Sat and Sunday. Dh and I have been thee few times, most times to bring our guests for a great authentic southern experience.

PANCHO : I am with you, need to get back on track. I don't mind some ocassional treats (illegal stuff) but lately it was more often than I planned for. I am not too worry about putting on weight for myself but certainly hope the baby doesn't turn out to be too big or else my small frame will not be able to get him out...LOL. Jess was a healthy 6 lbs 4 oz so it was good for my frame but hope Junior is not way bigger though. As for Jess doing my hair...gosh...everytime she does that, I lose a lot of hair...lol.

I am all caught up with the posts so far and I am so proud...lol. Good day everyone!

Oh my gosh I think I missed a day. Can this really be Tues.? Its a beautiful warm sunny day here in Missouri. I'm a little behind today but the rest of the week looks so busy to me. Have lots to do and will be eating out allot so hope I do okay. So far so good for me. I'm hopeing and praying I have a loss tomorrow. Can't believe I'm eating right the second week in a row. I'm really proud. Guess this evening I'll make hamburgers and have leftover cauliflower and a salad for dinner.

Welcome Flannel to Sugar Busters, come on join us!!!

Hi everyone! I don't have time for replies as this is just a fly-by! I'm cleaning the house today after a week of having the hubby home. And I'm procrastinating by playing a dumb old game on the computer. BUT, I had an awesome lunch...I took a Tilapia filet and dipped it in egg, then WW flour with dried rosemary and fried it in olive oil, cleaned out the pan and sauteed some fresh green beans (not from my garden...the plants are barely two inches tall) in some olive oil and it was so yummy!!

Needless to say, my eating hasn't been horrendous (although there was that divine chocolate torte cake thingy they gave us for our anniversary at the trendy restaurant we ate at for our anniversary), but it hasn't been great, either. At the end of the day, my weight is at 161 this morning, so it coudn't have been TOO bad.

Tomorrow I go on a feild trip with DD to a place called Upper Canada Village, which is a recreated 1850's village museum type place...it's the coolest place...we usually go there every five years or so and I can't wait to go on the feild trip. (Upper Canada Village link!! ) (http://www.uppercanadavillage.com/home.htm) It's like being on the set of Little House on the Prairie!! Then this weekend is our GS camping trip. I'm obsessing over it slightly, but it'll be over soon. I can't wait and can't wait for it to be over at the same time. I'm sure my eating will be very illegal with hot dogs with white buns and SMORES...but we'll be very active, so I'm hoping to burn off the calories.

Okay...have to go do some cleaning...will pop in if I can before this weekend...

Kris

Hey,guys. It's STILL raining here, depressing. More so knowing that hubby can't work until it clears up. Anyway, I was just awful yesterday and last Friday and Saturday. Only had a legal day on Sunday. My weight is horrible. I actually started crying about it last night. More so being the bingeing I've been doing. I feel so out of control. The slightest thing/food will set me off. DH wanted to know what was wrong so I "tried" to talk to him about it and when I told him my overeating was like an addiction, he just rolled his eyes and said "when I want to lose a few pounds, I just cut back." Well, no s**t! Unless you have been there, you do not understand. And as if I don't know HOW to lose weight. Geez, I've lost over 100 pounds, what a MORON! ALright, I feel better  I didn't say any of that to him, so now I feel better saying it to ya'll. I know that I simply need to stay away from ALL illegal/sugary/fatty foods. Just one nibble sets me off. I'm also an emotional eater. I've learned these things, but now I need to figure out how to use them to help me. Well, since I'm confessing all this, I might as well come clean about what my weight is today. I know a couple of pounds is fluid, but probably no more than 2-3. So here it is....172 :o Just a couple months ago, I was at a low of 159. Then about 3-4 weeks ago I saw 161. Now look where it's at. All my fault. I can't believe I can still fit in my clothes. Today, I'm being strict with my eating, probably will be tomorrow as well. I've managed to keep busy with cleaning and now I'm on the computer(trying not to get bored and eat). I wonder how long it will take me to get back to my low? Doesn't matter cause I'm not going to put on anymore weight, that I definetly know. Besides, I don't have any clothes that are in a bigger size  Alright, here's my menu, I know it's not enough calories for me, but it's only this way for a day or two.

BF- sf yogurt
Snack- 7 almonds and 1 sl bacon
Lunch- Plate of sauteed veggies(in olive oil)...a little onion, cabbage, brocolli, squash, tomato
Snack- will be 2 celery stalks with 1 tbsp Smucker's PB
Supper- will be 3 grilled drumsticks, side salad w/Casear dress, green beans

I could have killed Robby earlier, he came home and cooked bacon, grits, eggs, and cheese toast! Talk about a test of willpower. I only ate 1 sl bacon(see snack). Alright, I need to run!

Monet suggested I post this here for you all to see!

2 years ago I lost 45 lbs on SB. I gave up smoking 10/28/04 however, I gained every pound back. Loved SB because it simply killed the cravings and it really worked.

It isn't working this time - but neither is low calorie - and on that I'm so hungry, low blood sugar and cranky!

Has anyone else had this happen and if so, how did you overcome it? I'm so very uncomfortable I could scream! I think quiting smoking has really knocked my metabolism for a loop! I hear it can take up to a year for it to "kick back in" - Anyway - just wondering if anyone else has had this happen, and what did you do?

Thanks for any hints etc. Summer in Arizona is hot, hot, hot, and extra weight is a killer.

AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTIN BEAUTYS!!!!

ONE OF THESE DAYS.....I'll learn to stop bragging about this sunshine down here! The thunder and lightening woke me up at 5a.m. and it stormed all morning...we got over 2 inches of rain before it quit....NOW IT'S HOT AND STEAMY!!! It was supposed to rain for the next two days, but from the looks of outside, it's going to have to hurry up and get here....

JACKIE.....SUSAN has a great recipe for BAKED BEANS...maybe she'll see this and post it...Glad to hear that y'all had a good weekend...

MONET...I can't believe that PITTY PAT'S is STILL OPEN!!! Another good one from the past is COACH AND SIX...I understand that it's gone now...it was expensive but man did they have good food!

NAT...Normally, Tippy gets a bath every two weeks, but now that grass cutting season is back in full swing, she'll be getting one more often. The man who cuts out grass comes inside when he's done and she just loves him...well...needless to say, he's all sweaty and smelly and after he loves on her, she smells just like him! UCK!!!

KRIS...I'll get the cleaning supplies ready and by the time you get here, I'll have them all together for you!!!

SUSAN.... NO YOU DIDN"T BRING UP KROGER'S KNOWIN FULL WELL WHAT THAT DOES TO ME!!!!!

JULIA...I checked out that website....we're already planning to swing by there on our next trip up...sometimes we take US441 and it says they are 18 miles from Madison....My mouth is watering all ready!
That BABY must be doing flip flops....after a day of eating like the other day and then be all legal today....

TONI.....

FLANNEL....{{{{{{{WELCOME}}}}}}}} We're glad to have you with us!

Well, I'm doing some laundry, so I'll be back later...

I went to the store and got some things, after going to the credit union. I just got back and Tom was pulling in at the same time. I need to go figure out something for dinner, and make his smoothies and lunch for tomorrow. I feel kind of tired though... No rest for the wicked...

BOB: The next time you come anywhere NEAR Atlanta, you BETTER make sure you plan time for me! Ditto when I get down there. With all the plumbing problems, poor Tom is not in the mood to discuss spending money on a vacation....but if he gets to choose, it will be Sarasota!

TECH: Happy Anniversary! That campout will be a blast and you know it! :) We have a place like that village near us. It has an agricultural village from the early 1800's, and the late 1800's, and the early 1900's. The three areas are all separate, and they have explanations of all the equipment and such. You can reserve a day there, and they will let the kids 'help'. They make them muck out the stalls in the barn, or help cook lunch over a fireplace, or work in the sawmill. Its a lot of fun. Enjoy your trip!

KENG: I hope too, that Junior doesn't grow to be a monster baby before he is born! :) My son was 8 lbs 11oz, and the girls were 9lb2oz, and 9 lb 8oz! :)

PANCHO: You do so well on the workouts! How long does it take you do do your workouts?

HEART: Sounds like you are learning a lot...you know you eat emotionally, and you know you can't handle sugar. I have a suggestion...why not stay away from anything sweet, like the SF yogurt, until you are more in control. SF stuff can keep your system craving sugar. Just a thought...

ZANE: Welcome! I have had trouble getting back on track. I quit smoking about 30 years ago, and I used ice tea as my crutch, and ended up losing weight. Do you exercise? That ought to help...I am sure others will have ideas. Do post some menus for others to critique. That ought to help....

I've been looking around on 3fatchicks for a couple months now and just noticed this section of the board tonight. I had no idea there was anything like sugarbusters here. Anyways, what is it? I know it's all about cutting out sugar but is there a method?

I'm addicted to sugar. I have craving for it with little will power to say no to myself. I have coffee with my sugar, cream of wheat with my sugar, about 2 to 4 granola bars which taste like they're riddled with sugar every day, and a daily bag of m&m's when I haven't filled my sugar quota well enough. I want to cut out the sugar and have thought about which way would be the best way but i'm a bit unequipped and afraid, really, because what will I have it place of all that and where will I get my will power from?

anyways, I'm not digging the format of this part of the forum but still glad i found you! If someone can give me a starting point that'd be wonderful!!

thanks!

TMMGEE: There is a book, (Sugarbusters!!) that you can probably find at the library, that will explain the Sugarbusters program in depth. In a nutshell, it is a low glycemic diet. In other words, you avoid things that cause a big insulin response. The list of avoids include white flour, white sugar, white rice, white bread, white potatoes, bananas, pineapple, beets and corn. Whole grains are ok, like 100% whole wheat bread, brown rice, sweet potatoes, and other whole grains like oatmeal (NOT instant!) Any processed food needs to have three grams of sugar per serving, or less. Once you get past the first few days of sugar withdrawal, the cravings for it go away. Eventually, your sweet taste buds get 'reset' and you will wonder how you ever tolerated all the sugar!

The group on here is great about answering questions, offering advice and support...I hope you find a 'home' here, and join our group.

I know the format of making replies instead of new threads can seem awkward at first, you do get used to it. It was this way when I first joined, and I guess we are just used to it. :)

Anyway, we are all recovering sugar addicts here, I think! Jump right in! :)

Howdy ya'll. I'm over at mama's and thought I'd try to sneak on and say howdy. I cooked the most awesome meal for dinner. Of course it wasn't SB legal so I won't go into details. But I did enjoy the fried green tomatoes and then some more fried green tomatoes. :) As soon as I finish this post I'm gonna walk on mama's tread mill.

Jack-K...I am so sorry that your back is hurting. Saying a prayer for you. Mama is going for a block Thursday for hers.

Heart...((hugs)) I wish I could say I don't relate but boy do I relate. Right this second my shorts are a bit snug because of recent indulgences. Praying you find that motivation and drive again. Remember you may be up a bit but you are not going to gain it all back. This is temporary. You will be back in the swing of things in no time.

Monet...you wouldn't belive what a little bit of rain did for the garden. I picked four squash this morning that seemed to grow over night. The other day I made a mean green bean salad with an herb vinegrette. The marigold mint added just the right umph.

Susan...thanks. You are so right about feast or famine when it comes to the rain.

Welcome to all the new members.

I had to cut this short earlier but I've snuck back on to finish. :) Had a great walk. Okay and okay walk but I got it done..LOL

Poncho...hang in there. It won't take any time for you to be back at a comfortable weight. You are still a tiny little thing.

Julia...you are doing great. Remember this is the time in the pregnancy where you gain the most at once.

Bob...howdy. How is your shoulder doing?

((Everybody))

Okay, it really is good bye this time.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Ok, I will confess I got on the scale this morning, and it was NOT pretty...in fact, it was down right depressingly ugly. Someone kick me in the butt, cause I sure need it! I am up 36 pounds from my low point, a year ago. Twenty of them have been since my surgery in October, and I keep losing and regaining 10 to 15 of those.... I need to get serious here. I am going to start with portion control. Instead of three eggs for breakfast, I should only have one. I think I will try cutting down to about half what I take on plate, and see what happens. I also need to cut out all the little cheats I have been indulging in. (a sliver of cake, a handful of chips...) I also need to quit drinking ice tea with fructose in it. I don't think I can tolerate the fructose. :( I need to get back to drinking plenty of water during the day. Any of you who feel like it, please hold me accountable and ask me how I am doing.

Its raining here, and very dreary. I have a meeting to go to this morning, and I promised a friend I would run an errand for her. I need to get cleaning for the party Saturday...I just don't seem to be able to get up the motivation!

I hope everyone's WIW is better than mine....

Yea! I got on my scale this morning and I've lost 2 lbs.! :goodscale I've been wanting to get back to being really good, but thought I'd wait till I return from vacation to get really serious. I guess the little steps I've been taking so far have paid off. It's still raining here in north georgia, they're gonna rename us the new rain forest shortly!
I took Sean to the neurologist yesterday for his headaches. We were referred to him by the new pediatrician we've been using. He was great! Our old pediatrician felt that Sean was not having the headaches often enough, go figure! This one put Sean on topamax for prevention, imitrex if he starts to get one, and darvocet if all else fails. He chose topamax becuse the only major side effect it has is appetite suppression, leading to weight loss. Sean is insulin resistant and overweight, so this is not a bad thing. We will see how it goes and pray that it brings the child some relief! If he gets one of these headaches, he is just out for the day. he has missed field trips this year and missed the cookout on Monday because of this, so were ready for someone to care and try to treat it. he missed 8 days of school this year and 6 of them were because of headaches, that doesn't count all the days he made it home from school before crashing. Today we are off to the cardiologist to try to figure out why his cholesterol is so high for a kid. They are going to check him for at least one hereditary condition that could be causing it. I had never heard of it, but I don't know everything!
Well, I hope everyone has a great day!

Another dreary rainer day here. It just poured all day yesterday and looks like it is going to do the same thing today.

Today is WI and I'm a little apprehensive. The scale had been showing a really good loss, but yesterday I ate foods with a lot of sodium and today am retaining a lot of water. AArrgghh--I hate it when that happens on WI day!

Thin--congrats on the 2lbs! Don't wait until after vacation--there is no time like the present.

Monet--I know the feeling. I am just now back to where I was when I joined this board three years ago! It's still 20 lbs above my low. I think concentrating on portion control is an excellent idea. I'd been noticing all the "little cheats" too. You know that they add up. In fact, I'm not telling you anything you don't know. Now its time to do it! We'll be with you every step of the way!

Country---mmmmm, you can come cook for me anytime!

tmgeekette===WELCOME! Monet gave you good advice. Do try to get your hands on the book and read it. It really helps to know all the nasty things that refined sugar does to your body. Once you get the sugar out of your system you will find that you lose your taste for it.

BOB--Girl, you are just going to have to come for a visit and your can shop at your favorite store all you want!!!!!

Zane--It's great to hear from you again. You are in the right place--we've all backslid from time to time (see above). Come hang with us again and we will help you get back on track!

Tech--I'm gald you had a good anniversary. The talipia sounds delish!

Heart--That emotional eating is the worst. But before you put something in your mouth stop and ask yourself: "will this make me feel better or worse when I am finished eating it?" If the answer is worse--then why would you eat it?

Toni--I envy your sunshine. I know we will see the sun again one day. I have faith!

Julia--I agree, it does help to get out of the house--even for a little while. It looks like we are in for a week or so of this weather--ick!

Nat--I got some peaches the other day--they are pretty good to be early peaches. That's the ggreat thing about summer--with the fresh fruit and berries everything tastes so wonderful! You don't need refined sugars with the good friut and veggies!

Whew! I think I relpied to everyone--if I missed you I apologize!

Have a great OP Day and a god WI everyone!

Good morning...

I went to sleep with the same sound as I woke up this morning...rainfall :( This rain is starting to drive me nuts but I am hoping to beat it with some planning on things that Jess and I can do at home or somewhere else.

Nothing much planned for today. I even made most of my lunch in the crockpot yesterday evening. I am trying a new recipe called, "Slow cooker Cassoulet" with chicken, sausage and beans and from the look and taste test last night, it was good. I make rice and veggies to go with it.

My menu for today :

Breakfast : 2 leftover ww pancakes, 1 fried egg and 2 small sausages, 1/2 cup of soymilk.

Snack : Fruits

Lunch : "Slow Cooker Cassoulet", roast marinated broccoli and brown rice pilaf.

Snack : Fruits and plain yogurt.

Dinner : Leftovers from dinner.

Some replies :

TONI : You better believe it, you can do it and continue to eat well :) Great job! Can you please send some sunshine over here??? :)

TECH : I am not trying to encourage you but I do it all the time.....I procastinate!! LOL. Well...I am sure when it is really time to work, you will :) Lunch sounds yummy. I cooked a fish version like that...yum!

HEART : Well, I do not think than many men get the idea that not all things are as simple as they look. Like....oh...just cut back!! They do not think so much about the "emotional" side of things. I am sorry that you are struggling with your binging but I know that at time goes, you will slowly figure out ways to deal with it as long as you don't give up. There must be very good reasons that you are learning so much about yourself right now eventhough you might not know exactly what to do. I know God will reveal to you as time goes. Just keep hanging in there and keep praying :)

ZANESGRAMMY : Welcome!! You have come to the right place. I commend you on quitting smoking. WTG! That itself will be a great benefit for you. I can imagine your frustration right now but you are definitely on the right track. I do not have the specific experience you asked for but I am here to help whenever I can. My first question is, are you eating enough?? 3 main meals and 2 snacks? Post your typical menu and that will help a lot. Also, are you exercising? How much and how often? If your metabolism is out of whack, it just needs some time to get it back on track. It takes sometime but you can do it.

BOB : If you are going to Blue Willow especially on Fri, Sat and Sun, please make sure you call them in advance (like at least 1 week ahead) to make reservation. Since you are coming down from AL and to ensure you get to eat there, it is definitely safer to make reservation, even weekdays. That place is really packed. They do not open on Monday :)

TMMGEEKETTE : Welcome to the board!! I have my own addiction as well. I thought I will never be able to cut back on the starches but I did. I was completely shocked. SB has taught me how to eat right and that I do not have to eat like there is not tomorrow. I second what Monet says....definitely get the SB book and take your time to read it. The book has so much info and the basic concept of what SB is all about. I find it very easy to read and understand as well. It took me few times to get many of the info in, so don't rush yourself. I know you are afraid, we all are especially more when we first started. How about taking one small step at a time so you won't feel so overwhelming. That has always work for me and maybe it will be for you. Don't worry about cutting out all white stuff or sugar at one time, just replace one white food with one healthy food at one time, is that doable. Example, instead of white bread, use WHOLE wheat bread. As far as the format of this board, I have to agree with you. I am still trying to get used to it but the people here is so great, it doesn't bother me much anymore :)

COUNTRY : Fried green tomatoes huh? Yum!! I won't even ask what else you made...lol.

MONET : Your strategy sounds good but definitely allow your body sometime to adjust to the change. Will check on your progress from time to time :)

THIN : WTG 2 lbs!!! Yea!! Keep up the good work. I am sorry about your son's headaches. I hate headaches and proned to them often but not the serious ones like migraine. I cannot imagine what your son is going thru. When I used to get headaches, I will throw up if it gets very bad. Hope your son's medication will help him feel better and get less of the headaches as time goes.

Okay...got to go, time to do something productive instead of sitting in front of my computer!! :)

The list of avoids include white flour, white sugar, white rice, white bread, white potatoes, bananas, pineapple, beets and corn. Whole grains are ok, like 100% whole wheat bread, brown rice, sweet potatoes, and other whole grains like oatmeal (NOT instant!)

wow that about completes the list of things I live off of!

WIW is not pretty. Up over 160 again. Of course I can't blame anyone or anything other than bad food choices. A snack here, a taste there. Sometimes just out and out gorging. But today is a new day....not counting the two bites of breakfast burrito. I was sucked in the smoked brisket and hot sauce. :) Seriously I look in the mirror and I can see the pounds before I ever get on the scale and it's very dishearting so I can and will get back on track. That means going to fit day and looking at the numbers...a real reality check. And coming to the board more for that accountability. My ten year anniversay is in two months and I want to be where I should be. Exercise has been great so I just need to eat the right things.

tmmgeekette...I hear ya. Four years ago when I started this way of eating I thought...what in the world is a good ole southern girl to do. Biscuits, cornbread, rice were all the staples in our house. They not only tasted good they stretched the budget. But 75 pounds later it's all been worth it. And as you can see from the post above I still struggle. Hang in there. There are some good choices that help you to not feel totally deprived.

Monet...you help me and I'll help you. Even though I know it's of my own doing it's really hard to face my lack of will power to do the right thing. A lot of what you go through is medicial and I'm so proud of how you keep on keeping on. You should be proud of yourself and know that you will get the pounds back off even if it takes longer than most. ((Monet))

Susan...hope your weigh in goes better than you expect. I told my son what I cooked for dinner last night and he called it heart attack on a plate...LOL And the crazy head turned down home made biscuits. There is no way he is my son... :) I nibbled and picked the whole time I cooked...arrrrr

Go thin!!!!! WTG on your loss this week.

Julia....good morning. ((hugzz))

Hope you all have a SUPER day. And remember as much as you want to lose weight each of you has value and is a blessing right where you are.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

It's not WIW already, is it? I was at 124# this morning. I've had enough, and I am back on track with eating today. I got up at 4 a.m. to get to the gym to get my workout in. I will be doing that on Mondays & Wednesdays through the summer.

So far today:
After workout: Trader Joe's trail mix bar
BF: 2 egg whites, 1 yolk & 1 slice WG toast w/ Smart Balance & skim milk
Lunch: Will be a turkey sandwich on wheat
That's all I know at this point.

I was making chicken parmigiana (sp?) for dinner the other night and had run out of my wheat bread crumbs, so I took TRISCUITS and ground them up fine, and they worked great. Just a thought if you don't have any stale bread laying around.

Not too much planned for today.

Ken: I hear U about big babies. Britt was 7-4, and Lane 7-11 (a month early). My frame was too small to deliver both of them, and I am paying for it now with my prolapses from the doctor forcing them out with the suction techniques. I also had the huge tear (extended episiotomy) with Britt and now can't hold a loose bowel movement at all (tmi, I know). Makes life interesting. My kids did my hair again last night (they took turns). I went to the gym this morning looking like Don King.

Toni: Congrats on being on your second OP week; keep up the great work!! Doesn't it feel good?

Tech: Now, who can pass on a divine chocolate torte cake thingy? Glad you enjoyed your anniversary dinner. Enjoy the field trip; it sounds like fun.

Heart: ((((((HUGS)))))). Doesn't it suck for this weight thing to be a lifelong battle? It sounds as if you know what needs to be done, you just have to find the will to make it happen. Good job passing on all that other food, and just indulging in one slice of bacon.

Zanesgram: I can't relate to the problems you are having, but I wish you all the luck in the world. Just try to be patient; every transition takes awhile to adjust to. Just know that if you are eating this way, that it is so much better for your body, and your weight loss will eventually start again, unless there is another underlying problem; have you had your thyroid checked? I also live in AZ, and know how hot the summers can be. Any extra weight is too much in this heat, eh?

BOB: So he is a she...sorry. How sweet of Tippy to snuggle up to the sweaty, smelly grass man...dogs are so non-discriminatory; they'll go to anyone who will love on them.

Monet: My workouts usually range from 1 hour & 30 minutes to 1 hour & 45 minutes. I usually do 8-10 minutes on the eliptical to warm up, and then do weights for about 45-60 minutes, and then the treadmill from 30-40 minutes, depending on how much time I have. OKAY...BEND OVER AND I'LL GIVE YOU A SWIFT KICK, but then you have to return the favor, o.k.? Why don't you try cutting out two of the yolks, but still eating the three whites (with only one of the yolks)? You get very little fat that way, and still a lot of protein. Those little cheats sure do add up after awhile. I find that I run into problems when I start allowing myself a little bit of EVERYTHING.

TMM: It sounds like you NEED SB. All that sugar is so taxing on your body. I would recommend you read the book, and you will learn a lot more about it. You will also learn how bad sugar really is for the body. Just try by making gradual changes since you have such an addiction. You will really be surprised how easy it is to change to WW pasta, Brown rice, WW flour, etc....and to fill your sweet needs with other things. Welcome aboard. I hope you decide to give SB a try. I am sure you will be glad you did.

Country: Do you prepare Fried Green Tomatoes the same way you would zucchini? I assume the tomatoes are green (not yet ripe), and then you bread them and fry them? Do you dip them in Ranch or something, or eat them plain? I've never tried them, but have heard about them. Glad you got your walk in.

Thin: Congrats on the 2#'s; keep up the great work!!! I am glad you were able to find someone to help Sean with his headaches. Headaches can be a real drag, especially for a child.

Fillise: I hear you. I think eating all the fruits has contributed to my gain. I have been eating cantaloupe, watermelon, cherries, strawberries, grapes, etc...but it is all so good when in season. I also love to eat fresh sweet corn when it is at its best. I will have to limit my fruits to 2 servings a day and see if it helps.

Well, I just boiled my eggs dry...I always do that. All the water is gone, and they are popping like popcorn; that's the worst I've ever burned them before. I guess I'll go get some more on, and stay near the kitchen to keep an eye on them this time. .

Have a great OP day; I plan to.

Poncho..good morning. The way I cook them is totally not legal. I just slice them and spinkle with cajun seasoning or salt and pepper. Dust with some seaoned flour and fry till brown. Yes, they are just tomatoes off the vine before they turn red. Sometimes we get them where they are just ever so slightly pink. Yum Yum. We only eat them once or twice a year so I tend to over indulge. :)

WTG making it to the gym so early in the morning.

Love,

I am back from the meeting. It was one of those that you feel you really did not need to be there. Nothing new was decided, and it was bedlam with all the kids running around making noise. I was glad to leave. :)

For lunch, I had a grilled cheese sandwich, with a few slices of ham and broccoli sprouts on the side. I also ate a nectarine and drank a diet coke.

So far today, I have had about a quart of water, so I need to drink more.

Its actually cold here. I feel like crawling under the covers and reading all afternoon. Unfortunately, I don't have a good book to read. I got a collection of stories at the book store the other night, and it has three of the worst stories I have ever read! (TECH, you and I need to get those novels done! I am SURE we can do better!)

I will check in later!

Good afternoon all. I'm so happy I lost 2.5 lbs. this week. I'm eating so well that it thrills me. But today I got put in a position that I know I'll have to learn to deal with but just didn't know how to do it today. The woman that cleans my house twice a month had been out of state over the week end. She brings back these huge cinnamon rolls for breakfast for her and I. Well I'll tell you I couldn't think what to do to get out of eating one. And I'm here to tell you I really didn't want it. But went ahead and ate it out of fear of hurting her feelings. Inside I was just sick. It left me feeling sick and yucky and of course I've been hungry all afternoon from the carbs and sugar. I know its over and done with but I could just cry from it. I'll just have to learn to deal with this kind of stuff I know. Thats part of learning to eat right. So now I'm back OP and glad to be!!!

Goodness there are a lot of posts since yesterday.

The shot went well. I feel 80% better. Will get another in 2 weeks or so. I couldn't walk last night. I wanted to but DH didn't think it was a good idea. Tonight will be crazy so probably won't do it tonight either. Things should be slowing down so I will be back at it hard soon. At least I have had 2 legal days and so have the girls. In fact my youngest is doing really well. She works at a doctor's office and drug reps bring in lunch and all kinds of goodies. Last week she passed on chocolate sundaes and gourmet cookies. Willpower.

I attempted to do replies, but I got so engrossed in reading that I forgot to take notes, so here is my feable attempt. Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Susan, we are going to the Dominican republic (Punta Cana). We have been twice before and love it, so we are taking the girls and SIL as a graduation present. Sorry it is still raining there. I just found out that Kroger's (sorry Bob) is going to carry nature's Own ww buns. I am so excited. The Sara Lee are just too big. Can you share your baked bean recipe?

Julia, thanks for the ideas. I keep searching for a low sugar baked bean. I knew that about the protein/carb, just don't think about it much.

Nat, I would love to do no carbs for a month, but know I can't so I am limiting it to 1. Usually I have it as breakfast. But I know I will get tired of salads for lunch so will probably switch it around a bit. The girls want ww pizza next week.

Toni, I'm so proud of you for 2 weeks of good eating. You can do it. :dance for the loss this week. Next time, tell the lady you already had breakfast and will save them for tomorrow. Feed them to your DH.

Tech, I love all those old places like forts and Little house on the Prairie. My aunt used to take me to them when I was young all the time. Have fun on the GS outing and No somores (sp) for you now.

Laurie, we are in the same boat. I have put on 20 lbs and not happy either. I have no shorts that fit and I refuse to buy any bigger ones. Are you still journeling? If you can't have those foods around, get rid of them. No one else needs them either. They can eat things that are good for them too. You have done so great, you can do it again. Never expect men to understand until your wt affects them.

Zannesgrammy, I never smoked so I can't relate that way but I will tell you it is harder the 2nd time around. I lost 105 with Sf and got breast cancer and did nothing (exercising & eating right) during my treatments. I put on 20+ pounds. I did it once so do it again, right? This time it is not as easy and not coming off as quickly. I just don't think we have the motivation the 2nd time as we did the first. I wish I knew how to get it back. Coming here really helps. Please join us.

Bob, you jinxed your weather. I'll ask Susan for the recipe. Hope it stops raining soon.

Tmmgee, I think Monet gave you a great idea of SB. I have a snyopsis of the book, private message me and I will email it to you if you want. Welcome.

Crystle, fried green tomatoes? Are they legal? Just kidding you. I don't even like them so it wouldn't be a problem for me. Your garden is making me jealous. I would love to have so squash.

Monet, ok let's do this. Let's keep each other accountable. So far I am 2 days legal. Lost 7 pounds yesterday (all water-I was in the potty all day). But at least I saw a new number on the scale. I am determined this month to lose 20#. You keep me accountable ok?

Thin, Congrats on the 2 lbs. Where can I get some of that topamax? Just kidding. I'm glad they gave him something to help In fact, I think my DD takes one or 2 of those.

Got to get busy here. Have a great day.

Hey, guys. It is still raining here and there. I took Boogie to Speech this morning. There was some little kid there that came over and took my NEW cell phone off my chair and simply threw it down. It didn't hurt it, but got on my nerves that his Mom didn't say anything to him. Then he went to messing with the blinds, etc...gee whiz. If that was Boogie, I would have took him to the bathroom for a spanking. Anyway, afterwards I went and paid the light bill and went and tanned. How thrilling. Came home and did my workout for the day, washed dishes, started the laundry, and now I'm on the computer. So as you see, I'm bored. Oh yea, today is WIW. I'm at 168. Down four from yesterday, but I knew I was retaining some fluid. I have to confess, I had ILLEGAL baked beans last night. Hubby made them last night while I was at exercise. I had a big scoop, but didn't "overeat." They were soooo good. If I'm to cheat, I would rather do it on filling food than just sweets like candy bars and cake. But I have to strengthen my willpower. The beans were made with Carb Well barbecue sauce, honey, peppers and onions, seasonings, and sausage. It could have been worse...made with regular sauce and a ton of syrup. I still feel "a little" guilty. But I'm glad the scale was still kind. When I put my jeans on this AM, they were definetly snug in the butt and gut. Not cool. Gotta get this weight under control.

Here's my menu:
BF- sf peach yogurt
Snack- 2 celery stalks with 1 tbsp PB
Lunch- plate full of steamed veggies(only a little bit of salt and pepper, garlic)
Snack- probably yogurt
Supper- making pork stew. Made with pork meat, onion, butter beans, green beans, cabbage, tomatoes, and maybe a little reduced carb noodles.

MONET- I can't give up my yogurt, I used to be prone to yeast infections and now that I eat yogurt almost everyday I haven't had one in at least a year. Also, dairy is very important and suppossed to help curb your appetite if you get at least 3 servings a day. On days that I don't, I take a Calcium supplement. The sf stuff that gets my cravings going are sf ice cream, sf candy bars, simply because they taste too much like the real thing.

Crystle- We can do this! We've accomplished too much, to keep back-tracking. Thank you for your kind words.

I'm glad I found all of you! Lively group - and you all seem to be having a lot of success on SB - I loved it before; it was just so darn easy! So, I'll re-read the book and re-do this. No, I'm not really exercising - it has warmed up here but I know I have to do something to "kick in". Plus I also got hit with some kind of auto-immune something right after giving up the cigs - I swear it had something to do with toxins leaving my body! Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better - for a while I couldn't even walk 2 blocks without severe pain. I'm almost back to the full swing, and truly looking forward to getting to know all of you on this long weight-loss journey!

We're back from the cardiologist office and yes it's still raining! :rain:
They did an EKG and echocardiogram on Sean and did not find anything wrong or enlargement. Put him on a low cholesterol diet though and also recommended south beach to us. How different is that from sugar busters? :dizzy: Now I have to find a way to combine all of these into a diet that is right for us. I guess we will try to have more fish and chicken and less beef. How much fat is in turkey? Is it like chicken? She said for him to have a LOT of veggies and fruit, lowfat meats and cheeses and more exercise. Sounds like your typical doctor's advice! Does anyone else have any advice? :?: Well, I think I will go ahead and cook the couple of paks of beef we have in the fridge before we leave on Sunday and hit BJ's for fish when we get back. Thanks in advance for you help! ;)

THIN: South Beach is just Atkins for the first phase and Sugarbusters for the second phase! What really irritates me is that doctor's recommend South Beach, but act like Sugarbusters, and Atkins are fads! Sheesh... My doctor recommends Sugarbusters, so just put Sean on it, with you, and it will be the same as if you did South Beach for him. There is a book, Sugarbusters For Kids, that you might want to check out of the library and read. It has a lot of great recipes that will appeal to kids. How I wish I had thought to combine the two diets and make a million...

EVENING ALL YOU BUSTIN BEAUTYS~!!!

The storms started again last night around midnight and it has stormed all day. It's not raining as we speak, but it's supposed to start again tonight and all tomorrow again!

JULIA...Am I wrong that Madison is Madison Georgia? You threw me when you said that I would be coming from AL.....I live in FLA....THE BLUE WILLOW is a little out of the way, but for what I read about on their website, what's a few miles?????

MONET...You won't be left out the next time I come that way, but the way I've been having to leave work, it will be A CENTURY before I have another vacation! MAYBE....you and Tom could meet us over at THE BLUE WILLOW when that CENTURY finally gets here!

SUSAN...I swear, that ride from Sarasota to Auburn would be worth a numb butt to go to KROGER'S!!! These grocery stores down here are terrible! I heard some rumblings that BE might put a store at INTERNATIONAL MALL in Tampa, so next time you make it down this way, we can go there...

LAURIE...I have to agree with you on that CHILD you encountered. Nothing grates on me worse that misbehaving children....except for uncaring MOMS!!!

JACKIE...I've never made SUSAN'S beans, but they always sound so good when she talks about them!

NAT...that's OK that you called TIPPY a boy...she doesn't know the difference anyway! She's the most unusual CHIHUAHUA you will ever come in contact with...she doesn't YIP...or YAP...doesn't snip a peoples heels..She just loves to be loved!

CRYSTLE...what kind of GREEN BEANS do you plant? I miss having a garden so bad...nothing grows down here in this sand!
A friend of mines Father said for me to plant my tomatoes in a galvanized tub with a bag of really good dirt. He was originally from Alabama, and as we all know...the only tomato better than an Alabama tomato, is a Granger County Tennessee tomato...GAWD I MISS THOSE!!!!

{{{{{{{{{{{WELOME}}}}}}}}}}}} to EVERYONE who is NEW TO OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE BOARD. We're glad to have all of you and hope you find a home here!

Hope I've not missed anyone...I've decided to have a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich for supper...Time to cook! I fixed Kate some corned beef and cabbage with some stewed potatoes....oh...and a hunk of cornbread!

Later

Jackie--I posted my beans on the recipe board, but now I can't find it. If you have the southern living cookbook, it is their recipe only with agave instead of brown sugar and molasses. I'll try to dig it up for you!

BOB--Fly into Atlanta for a weekend. They have some great fares from Tampa to Atlanta. Monet and I will take you to BE, Blue Willow AND Kroger!

Thin--get the SB for kids book. It actually does a pretty good job of explaining the whole WOE better than the original book.

Thanks for the comments. I actually have the sugar busters for kids book that I bought a little over a year ago on the advice of the kids former pediatrician. This cardiologist probably is not even aware that there is a version for kids. :p I think I will just stick with what I've been doing with the sb for kids and just try to incorporate more fish, chicken and other lean meats. We go back for his regular blood work in 3 months so we will see how his levels look then. Also we need to get more exercise, but then again, who doesn't! :ebike: Does anyone have any ideas to get more veggies into kids who think they are "yucky"?

Right now, Monet is not a happy camper. My two gallon fish tank, with my two little tetras that I love, seems to be leaking. In addition, the leak had soaked the placemat the tank was sitting on, and has totally ruined my end table! Tom looked at it and said, "why can't we ever keep anything nice?" Beats me! I think the leak was caused by the 'kittens' sitting on the lid. James doesn't agree. ( probably because then HE would be responsible...) So, I am not a fan of four legged furry beasts tonight.

Dinner was beef stew, made with ww flour, the scraps from beef tenderloin, onions, celery, carrots, and low carb potatoes. It was cooked in the pressure cooker, of course. Yummy stuff! I went heavy on the carrots and celery, and light on the taters. I feel stuffed though!

I had a snack of baby carrots and a bit of bleu cheese dressing earlier this afternoon.

FILLISE: Oh, wow...Spa Monet would LOVE to see both you AND BOB!

BOB: Come on up! We can hit all the cool spots, and maybe Julia will meet us at the Blue Willow. Sounds like a heavenly weekend to me. There is a KROGER less than two miles in every direction from me. :s:

THIN: Veggies into kids... hmmm. Mine always loved them. Maybe go to one of these new Asian markets and let him help pick out some new veggies to try. They have all kinds of weird stuff! Nappa cabbage is lovely...very mild, and versatile. Does he like pizza? You can throw all kinds of stuff on the top that would sneak veggies in. How about salads? Veggie soup? A good gazpacho is tasty and packed with fresh veggies. Veggies and dip make a nice snack. If you keep the fridge stocked with easy to grab snacks of them, maybe the kids would get into the habit of snacking on them. Make sure sandwiches have lettuce or sprouts on them, and pack any stews or soups with as many veggies as you can cram in. Its so hard to get kids to eat right! My 19 year old eats junk all the time. Then she will get on a kick where she wants to eat right, and wants me to buy all kinds of stuff for her that she then doesn't eat. Sound familiar? No wonder my hair is gray!

JACK: I will try and hold you accountable...thanks for doing the same for me.

COUNTRY: Lets lean on each other...Jack too... we just need to get back in the habit and be honest with ourselves. I still have tons and tons to lose, I just can't afford to be going the wrong direction!

ZANES: I have Lupus, an auto immune disease. You know, you really ought to get your thyroid checked. Auto immune diseases often mess up the thyroid too. Its very common! If your thyroid is slow, do make sure you stay away from soy...it will slow your thyroid even more.

HEART: What if you used plain yogurt and added a bit of fresh fruit to it? I actually like yogurt with nothing in it, but I know I am weird!

TONI:  Way to go on the loss! You are doing great! I agree with Jack...what a great way to handle it! Tell her you have already eaten and are going to save it for later! :)

I think that does it for me!

monet-I've heard you rave about sprouts in the past. Do you grow them yourself or buy them somewhere? How do you use them? Do they have a strong flavor or mild? I would love to be near a Harry's, but Marietta and Alpharetta are both gonna run me 45-60 min to get to. Our Kroger (sorry Bob!) has a great health food section, maybe I should spend a little more time exploring there and produce section as well. Thanks!

THIN: I grow my own sprouts. Its so easy! I get the seeds at Johnny's Seeds online, and just toss a tablespoon in a jar. You can use cheesecloth over the mouth, but I do have a few special sprouting lids I use. The radish sprouts are rather peppery, and hot. Broccoli sprouts are relatively mild and really good for you. Alfalfa is cheap and good too, but I can't eat it because I have Lupus and it raises ANA antibody counts. I love them in salads and sandwiches. How far are you from State Bridge and Medlock Bridge? They are building a new Whole Foods there. That, by the way, is close to me. We ought to meet for lunch one day. :) I would be willing to drive 45 minutes to do so. I don't have kids to worry about... There are three Asian markets that have opened in the Gwinnett Place area...and they would be worth the trip one day. The Super H mart, up from Gwinnett Place on Pleasant Hill has fabulously fresh and CHEAP fish. Bring a cooler and stock up! Sole filets are $3.99 a pound, and delicious! Tilapia is $2.99 a pound. Shrimp is always about $4 a pound, the really big ones $8 a pound... I go crazy when I go there! :) Their meats are very cheap too. That is where I can get beef tenderloins for $5.50 a pound! And its amazingly good stuff! The DeKalb Farmer's Market is another cool place. You can turn the trips into summer field trips! :) Make a day of it! Just be careful at the DeKalb Farmer's Market...they have a bakery bar that is incredible! And NOTHING on it is legal! :(

Good evening...

It's almost time to call it a night but somehow I didn't feel like doing it yet so thought I come here to do some replies. Today, Jess and I went to Pier1 to check out the stuff they have. We needed to get out of the house despite of the rain...gosh, I need some sun...lol.

Anyway, some more replies :

COUNTRY : You can do it....2 months are definitely doable.

PANCHO : TMI?? LOL. With women, it is never TMI :) My dh used to tell me that I always give people TMI or volunteering info...lol. I just hope Junior is healthy and easy to get out...lol.

MONET : With the rainy and gloomy weather nowadays, I sure feel like laying on the bed all day. I am not much of a book reader though. Sorry to hear about your end table, did you or Tom managed to seal the leak?

TONI : Woo Hoo....!!!! 2.5 lbs!!!!! My...my, congrats, I am so proud of you. Keep up the good work :) As for not wanting to hurt your house-keeper's feelings, you won't. I am sure she will understand if you tell her. Or...you can tell her you will eat later, or.....just just break off a small piece to try...that's. You sure do not have to eat the whole thing :) It is okay, really :)

JACK : I must have missed some of your posts. What was the shot for? Are you okay?

HEART : I love baked beans too. I have to learn to make legal ones soon :)

ZANES : Take one step at a time and know that eventually the small steps will turn into hugh results. You are doing great :)

THIN : What kind of veggie does your son likes? If you make any meat/seafood patties, you can add some chopped veggies in them and the patties will still taste yummy. With some delicious sauce, he probably don't care what veggies are in them.

BOB : What was I thinking?? I knew you were in FL but somehow I wrote AL. Yes, Blue Willow is in GA...lol. Don't ask me about directions and places, I am terrible with that...lol. You are better off mapping out the directions from FL to Blue Willow than than any directions that I might attempt to give you...lol. Oh, trust me, it is so worth it to go there even if it is a little out of your way :)

Okay, my time is up...got to go since dh should be home soon. Night all.

Hi all,

Well, I had a piece of pie today, and that certainly did not help my cause, but it was my friend's birthday and we went out for her birthday. It was...good pie. But now tomorrow back on track...get that nasty sugar out of my system. So here's my question for ya all--do you all have a sort of sweet sort of treat that you eat to appease the old sweet tooth? I found Jello pudding with splenda and those aren't too bad, but does not really meet my need to chew something ooy gooey. Let me know!

This is the latest crockpot recipe I have tried. I like it, easy and pretty yummy :)

SLOW-COOKER CASSOULET

Note from author : A French cassoulet is a hearty dish featuring a country combination of beans with chicken or duck and sausage, or other meats.

1 (2 1/2 to 3 1/2-lb) broiler-fryer chicken, cut up.
1 small leek, thinly sliced,
1 clove garlic, crushed or chopped
3 TBSP chopped fresh parsley
1/2 TSP salt
1/4 TSP pepper
2 (15oz) cans white kidney beans, drained,
1/2 lb smoked sausage links, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices (I used 1 lb of Polish Kielbasa as I like more sausage)
1/4 cup dry white wine.

In a slow cooker, combine chicken, leek, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. Top with beans and sausage. Cover and cook on LOW 5 to 6 hours or until chicken is tender.

Note : I only cooked for 4 hours top since the chicken was already very tender. I used chicken drumsticks only since that was what I prefer :)

Good Morning! Another gloomy, wet day here in Hotlanta! Tonight, we are supposed to go to Ruth and Erik's for dinner. It will be delicious, I am sure, but probably he will sneak in something not legal. :(

I have a ton to do today...and right now, I am not feeling very motivated. I need to throw out a bunch of stuff, and maybe that will help.

FLANNEL: I am not sure that the jello pudding is legal. Doesn't it have starches and such in it? It is surely not whole grain! Maybe others on here use it some and will chime in on that.... As for sweets to satisfy the sweet tooth, I use fruit. An apple is very sweet! I also use agave in my tea and coffee. I know its hard to do, but if you give up sweets for a week, your desire for them diminishes dramatically. I find even the artificial sweets cause cravings. If you fight it like a tiger for a week, you will have smoother sailing afterwards....no cravings and more control.

KENG: Thanks for sharing the recipe. Did you post it on the recipe board? You can think of Gator, over there in France, while you eat it! I can't figure out where the leak is coming from on the fish tank, so I have not been able to fix it yet. Poor little fishies....

PANCHO: Are you still thinking of checking at the USPS for that package? I still am interested... :) I am just miffed as to why UPS was so expensive!

Time for breakfast! I'll be back later!

Good Thursday Morning,

The week is flying by, I guess due to being a short week. I love it.

2 totally legal days behind me. Even went to the Elks Club last nite and had diet coke instead of wine or a drink. The scale is down 10 lbs since Monday. That is weird that I can retain that much water. Now if the fat would only leave as quickly.

You Georgia girls sent all your rain my way. It is dark and gloomy today. Makes you want to eat.

Does anyone know what capers are and where you find them in the store?

Heart, what kind of beans did your DH use for the baked beans? You could use agave instead of the honey and they would have been legal. You can do this. Have you tried using fitday to monitor your portions and calories? It might help you along. Hang in there.

Zannesgrammy, what kind of autoimmune disease do you have? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Monet has Lupus. Hang with us and you will get back into the losing mode before you know it.

Thin, I agree with Monet. SB is just like Atkins and then SBusters. You may just do Sugar Busters and limit his starchy carbs to 1 a day. Glad they didn't find anything wrong. Make it a game with both of you dieting and maybe a contest on losing each week. Make it fun for him and he won't even notice he's dieting. Does your DS like celery? I like to dip it in peanut butter. Raw veggies and dip? Put mushrooms, zuchinni, onions in spaghetti sauce.

Bob, you sent us your storms. It started yesterday and is still coming down. It is so depressing.

Susan, I don't have any SL cookbooks. Remember, I'm kitchen challenged. I will check out the recipe boards. Thanks

Monet, what a shame about your fish tank and table. Maybe it can be refinished. Looks like you have had 3 good days so far. Me too. We can do this together? Now you be good at dinner tonight. I'm gonna ask tomorrow.

Crystal, Did you have a legal day too?

Julia, I had to get an epidural in my back. I have 3 herniated discs that where really bothering me. Has the rain stopped today? We have it now. I agree, it is so depressing. All it makes you want to do is eat.

Flannel, you really need to do a clean break from sweets for a couple weeks to get those cravings under control. I do buy SF candies (turtles, heath bars, etc). They really help in a pinch. I do like the sf pudding and jello. Try some fruit.

Got to go get some coffee and my protein bar and fruit for breakfast. Hope to be back later.

Thanks everyone for your help! I have everything from sugar busters for kids book to low carb recipes, atkins books, to south beach good fats good carbs. I think maybe we can figure out a plan that will work. Sean's new pediatrician wanted to get all these tests done then make a "lifestyle plan" so, we'll see what his take is out of all of this.

Monet-I would love to meet you and go on a "field trip" to some of the places you mentioned. We just need to try some different types of fish, etc. to see what the family likes before I go stock up. Would hate to endup with a lot of stuff that no one will eat! :p

Jack & Keng-I try to cut up some raw veggies all seperate when my dh and I have salads with dinner, so everyone can just munch on what they like. I'm thinking of making some homemade pizza suce for the kids to have for lunch this summer. I can saute up some veggies and the blend them in the blender with the sauce. I'm sure they'll never notice. Stuff like that!

Heart- I am a school nurse in a local elementary school and I swear some of these kids and their parents are nuts! Makes me thank the good lord for the ones he gave me! :D

Everyone else! Have a great day and I hope you have better weather than what we have down here in the south "the new rain forest"

JACK: I am not sure exactly WHAT capers are, but my guess is they are related to olives. You can find them in a jar in the pickle/olive section at the grocery store. They are small, round and green. The flavor is similar to green olives. They are essential in chicken piccada.

THIN: I would love to take you on a tour of some of the cool markets. :) When do you want to go? I am pretty much free all the time, except Friday mornings, and in a few weeks, Thursday mornings.

Good morning...

I had a lazy start today. The weather is really making everyone in my house lazy and wanting to sleep more. Jess actually woke up around 8.30am which is really unusual. She usually follow the sunrise but since the sun was not where to be seen, she slept a bit later. Love that :)

I started off the day with a load of laundry and hope to do some ironing later on. I need to clean the toilets as well...not fun at all. Anyway, my menu for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle with Agave, 3 small sausages and 1 cup of soymilk.

Snack : Fruits.

Lunch : Baked marinated chicken breast in ginger-dressing, pan-seared fennel and baked sweet potatoes.

Snack : Fruits and yogurt.

Dinner : Not sure at this moment but should be legal.

Some replies :

FLANNEL : When I really crave for something sweet, I might reach for some ice-cream but only 1/2 cup (1 serving) with some fruits thrown in so my bowl looks more full :) As for ice-cream, there are plenty that are sugar-free but only 1/2 cup serving OCASSIONALLY. Ice-cream is my ocassional treat while more often, I will make fruit salad to calm my sweet tooth. I will cut up some of my fav fruits and park it in the fridge. Whenever I need it, it is easy to reach. I love it icy cold...sooo refreshing. I know many people have found some great legal recipes (dessert) for ocassional treats but I am not a baker so I can't help you with it. Maybe you can do a search online and see if you can find some legal recipes when you have hugh cravings. Having something sweet ocassionally is totally fine but if it sets off a binging spree of wanting more, that could be a trouble. You will have to find out yourself. One of the tips I got from a weightloss TV show is that the nutritionist asked the lady who she was working with to have a small piece of rich chocolate whenever she has this hugh sweet craving. The trick is only 1 small piece...and if it is rich, a little piece will usually do the trick. That worked very well for the lady.

MONET : Nope, I haven't post it on the recipe board but will do so later. Hope you find the leaks soon, I am sure the fish miss their home :)

JACK : 10 lbs?? Wow...that is certainly lots of fluctuation but I am happy for you. LOL....hope the rain is nicer to you than it has to us in GA...lol. As for capers, I find mine next to the olives at Publix. I love capers especially with fish. I believe capers are little flower buds which are cured in brine. Yummy!

THIN : Putting veggies in pasta sauce is definitely is good idea. Make delicious sauces to go with their fav veggies is great too. My dd loves a roasted marinated broccoli I make for her. She is okay with broccoli but she really loves that recipe.

Okay...dh is home and Jess is really grouchy today. I think it has to do with the allergy medicine I have her. I better attend to the grouchy lady...lol.

Morning all!

I ended up on a conference call yesterday so didn't make my weigh-in. I'll go to the meeting on Saturday morning and do it. Eating was good yesterday and I feel like I am less puffy today than yesterday.

Jackie--I don't think the BB recipe is on the recipe boards anymore--I couldn't find it, so here it is:

2 cups dried great northern beans (I actually used a large pkg of frozen pinto beans 2 cups of dried beans makes about 4 cups of hydrated ones).
1/2 tsp salt
A couple of slices of bacon (I use the Gwaltney SF LF bacon)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup agave
2 tbl tomato sauce
1/2 tsp prepared mustard
1/4 tsp pepper
2 cups hot water

If you use the dried beans, sort, wash, and soak them. If you use frozen or canned, open the pkg. and dump them into a greased 2 1/2 qt. baking dish. Add bacon and onion. Combine agave, tomato sauce, mustard, pepper and hot water; pour over beans. Cover and bake at 350 for 2 hours stirring once. Yield 8 servings.

I might have reduced the water a bit as I found the beans a little soupy the first time I made the recipe. But it did satisfy my taste for baked beans--
Enjoy!

Sorry I can't do relpies this morning--got to head down to Montgomery for some meetings. I did want to get the recipe posted while I was thinking about it!

I threw the cooler into my car so I can stop at the Fresh Market on the way home and stock up on some good meats and produce! (Uh-oh, BOB did I set you off again?).

Have a great OP day everyone!

I am going to head over to Home Depot and pick out some paint for the hall bathroom. There is a slight chance we might get it done by Saturday afternoon! Woo hoo! I want to get the paint and at least have a chance at it. So far today, I have gone through a bunch of crap in the den that my dear son left in a heap when he was cleaning out his room! I was SO mad to find it was mostly trash that HE could have put in the trash can himself. He had a huge pile of empty cardboard boxes that I broke down and put in the cardboard bins in the garage to take to the recycling place. Its not much progress, but its some. I also put in two loads of towels. I feel like I have at least accomplished something now. :smug:

SUSAN: :lol3: You are brave baiting BOB like that....

THIN: That sounds perfectly reasonable. I have a wedding to cater on June 18th, so after that, ok? In the mean time, try Tilapia, and sole. The sole at Super H is amazing! I think its the best fish I have ever eaten... :) Bring the kids with if you like...I like kids. (was on staff at Perimeter Church for 7 or 8 years in Children's Ministry...) If they will talk to me like I am not icky cause I am an adult, I like them even more!

Hubby used pork n' beans for the baked beans. I've made them before using sf syrup and Carb Well sauce(plus meat, peppers, onion, mustard) and they were good but a little runny. I don't have access to agave here.

MONET- I've tried eating plain yogurt with fruit before and it's still bitter. Maybe if I use Splenda?

Jack-k- Fitday got on my nerves!

Not much going on today. I'm down 1 from yesterday, 167. "Only" 8 more to go(sigh). Anyone ever make a pork stew? Mine didn't taste too good last night. I was wondering what seasonings to use. Also, where have you guys found those LC potatoes? I've looked to no avail. Also, I can't find any legal buns anymore. Walmart was carrying some, but haven't had them in months. Anyway, here's my menu for the day:

BF- omelette(1 whole egg, 2 1/2 whites, spinach, onion, and parmesean cheese) 1 cup skim milk
Snack- vanilla sf yogurt
Lunch- will be grilled chicken salad..veggies, chicken, a little parmesean, Casear dressing
Snack- if I do have a snack, probably 6 strawberries
Supper- grilled chicken breast, butterpeas, squash with tomatoes and onion

ALright, gotta go and make the kids and I some lunch!

Good afternoon:

I have had a good morning so far:

BF: Legal cereal w/ blueberries and skim milk
Snack: Protein bar
Snack: 3 slices cantaloupe & boiled egg
Water, water, water...

Not much else to report today, yet!

Country: Thos tomatoes don't sound too terribly illegal; they actually sound kinda yummy ;) .

Toni: Congrats on the 2.5#'s. Those situations are tough to handle, but will always arise. I may have told her that I had already eaten or that I wasn't hungry yet, and save it for later. BUT, it is water under the bridge, and time to move on. You will still do fine, if you are able to get right back on track.

Jack-K: Glad you and the girls have a few legal days under your belt. Good for your dd, passing up on all that junk in the office. Working in the office is so tough, with stuff coming in all the time. You are like Heart; you both seem to retain an awful lot of water; glad the scale is going back down for you.

Heart: It is frustrating to be around parents who don't discipline their children. Unfortunately there are a lot of them out there. How often do you tan? I got 3 years free when I re-joined my gym, but have such a paranoia about skin cancer that I haven't tanned once. I used to tan so much as a teenager, and even used the tanning booths a lot back then, but haven't in quite awhile. I suppose all the damage to my skin has already been done in those earlier years.

Zane: We look forward to getting to know you as well.

Thin: Glad the cardiologist didn't find anything more serious!! South Beach is Sugarbusters, after the first few weeks. So, you've got it all down already. I don't know how old your children are, but I just bought a Beachbody video for my girls called Tony and the Kids (for ages 5-10). It is a 30 minute exercise video that is goofy and fun, and they love it. Britt asks to do it everyday...it is fun and gets them up moving. My kids are pretty good about eating veggies, but I guess disguising it always helps. Country has a good lasagne recipe, and I also add layers of fresh spinach into this recipe. Once it is cooked, the kids don't even realize it is in there. I do try to make healtier snack foods for my kids also. One of their favorites is: I take two whole grain graham crackers and spread a layer of lite or fat free whip cream on one and put them together like a sandwich and freeze them. They are kinda like an ice cream sandwich. I make a bunch at once and keep them in the freezer. I also take 100% fruit juice and make ice cubes or popsicles out of them. We also make healthy banana muffins and cookies to have on hand for desserts. There are so many recipes out there now for this way of eating.

BOB: It seems like it is raining everywhere, but here. Tippy sounds so precious. My girls would love a small cuddle pup, but we already have two big dogs, and that is enough for now. The next dog we get will probably be a smaller breed. I used to have a Lhasa Apso, and I sometimes miss cuddling with him.

Monet: Sorry to hear about your fish tank and the table. I still have not been able to find the lo-carb potatoes..it is probably a good thing though because I would probably overindulge. I sent you an e-mail.

Ken: My DH is always amazed at how forthcoming women are, and is surprised at the conversations I get into with other women  .

Flannel: Check out the recipe board; you will find a lot of legal sweets that will help overcome your need for sugar. I think you should really try to eliminate all forms of sweeteners for a little while though to get rid of that sweet tooth, and very gradually re-introduce them in a healthy manner. You don't want to just replace the bad with the better; you want to try to cut back too. Good luck...you can do it!!!

Fillise: thanks for the recipe...it jammed my printer and I can't get the paper out  . I will have to try to re-print it later.

Well, have a fantastic OP day. I may try to check in later.

Take care,
Nat

Good Afternoon.

Heading home soon. Hope the rain holds off. I need to return some tables and chairs to people and can't do it in the rain.

Dinner will be legal BBQ, I won't have a bun since I had 1/2 pc of bread at lunch. Don't know what else to put with it. I have potato salad, pasta salad and baked beans none of which are legal, so I need to find something else for me and DD.

Monet & Julia, thanks for th einfo on capers. My sister had a recipe for salmon that called for them and she was not sure.

Julia, not fun day cleaning toilets.

Susan, thanks for the recipe.

nat, I'm with you on the water today. I have spent the whole day in the potty. I guess tht is a good thing.

Heart, Hope today is going good for you.

have a great evening.

Woo hoo finally get a chance at the computer. Went waaaaayyyyyy out of town with a friend so she could get her breast exam. We stopped for lunch but I did well with a patty melt on rye and a small salad. Not the greatest but pretty good. Thanks so much Pancho, Jack-K and Monet for the good advice on getting out of a tight spot with unwanted food. Its these little tricks that help you stay legal. Tomorrow I'm eating out again but this time at Ryan's, which is easy to stay legal. Guess I need to finish up here....

HEART: A little bit of splenda with the fruit might be just the trick! You can't find agave? Do you want me to mail you some? I can find it at several places here... Another thing to try would be frozen concentrated apple juice. Just a bit as a sweetner would work well. I have also used Polaner all fruit mixed in yogurt and that tastes as good as the Dannon with sugar to me! I saw the low carb potatoes at WalMart the other night. They come in a yellow bag, which is kind of small. I wrote the company and asked if they could tell me the GI of the potatoes, but have not gotten word yet. I probably won't....

PANCHO: Got the email and will be looking for it! :) Thanks so much! That kids exercise video sounds like fun! What a great way to get the kids moving!

TONI: Oh! I love Ryans, but always over eat! Haven't been there in ages....

JACK: You are a better woman than I am...that potato salad would be history! Its definitely a temptation for me!

I just tried a new recipe and it was delicious! :T I hope it was a legal as I think it was. It was a chicken black bean chili with barley. Craig and Rachel both loved it! The only problem that I saw was that it called for a can of corn, but it makes a BIG pot, so I figured it wouldn't be that bad. Next time I may go with one of those half size cans or something. Unfortunately Sean is spending the night with a friend and I doubt he is anywhere near sb legal or low fat! Maybe he will try it tomorrow when he gets home. We'll see if he feels adventurous! :twirly:
I spent some time at the seafood counter at wal-mart tonight looking around and the attendant was very helpful. I told her I was "shopping" for ideas but I'm going out of town, so I'll be back in next week to really try some new stuff. Turns out she is watching her cholesterol, is diabetic and is also allergic to gluten. We stood there and compared nutrition labels on all kinds of fish and shrimp and she was just the nicest person. She had a lot if neat ideas and suggestions too. I will have to look for her when I get back! Well, I'm off to take a hot bath then maybe we will curl up and watch a movie. The kids watched Shrek again yesterday, so maybe tonight will be Shrek 2. See ya'll tomorrow!

Hello all. I'm thru with the dishes from supper. I'm stuffed. Stuck to plan although I had seconds on the squash and butterpeas. I know I didn't need the extra peas(starch), but darn they were sooo good. I sweated buckets at my workout this evening so maybe that will counteract it,lol. I now have had 3 OP days under my belt. BUT I was just informed that my family reunion is Sunday. There almost always is nothing legal there. So I'm asking that you guys send me lots of vibes that I will not overeat and start a binge that day. I'm telling myself, starting now, that I will endulge in 1 plate and 1 dessert and not be a total pig. I have got to learn how to occasionally eat off plan WITHOUT gorging and staying off plan. This will be a test for me that I intend to pass. Yea, I know I shouldn't eat anything illegal, but baby steps please.

Meridian only has 2 health food stores and they suck. I wish I did have the money to open my own. There are several items that I would order first like agave and macadamia nut oil.

Nat- I tan twice a week. And yes I shouldn't but it's so hard here in the South not to have a tan in the Summer. I wish I could afford the new spray tans, but they're pricey to keep it going(at least $25 every 7-10 days). I'm glad that my kids have light olive complexions and look good year round like their Daddy. Makes me sick, lol.

Dinner tonight turned out pretty good. I pressure cooked a pork shoulder picnic roast with water, and made rice and collards to go with it. Yum! It was a good southern meal. I trimmed as much fat off the pork as I could and it was not at all greasy. Of course, the whole grain rice (I used Bhutanese red rice) was not authentic, but it was still good! :) Laura and I went to Home Depot and picked out paint. We got a minty green. Its very nice, and bright. I had to get primer too, because the color she has in there now is almost gold. I think this is going to look better.

BOB: Maybe Susan and I should head down to Sarasota for a weekend. :) I am still working on Tom. His dividend check came for Publix so I may be able to talk him into a weekend away! :) It's not enough to cover even a long weekend, but its enough to put a smile on his face! Don't worry...Harry's is on the list! The DeKalb Farmer's Market and Super H Mart are too!

THIN: They may have whole grain graham crackers at Harry's, or a Health Food Store. I can almost guarantee you won't find them at Walmart! The most important part of finding good fish is finding fresh stuff. I am not sure how good Walmart's fish is, but don't let it put you off if its not great. OK? I will look for the whole grain graham crackers next time I am at Harry's. If you have an Ingles near you, look in their cracker section for Carr's Whole Wheat crackers. They taste like grahams, but are round. They are not terribly cheap, but they are delicious! :) Also, Ingles has Ak Mak crackers. They are 100% whole wheat, light and crisp. If you can find them, I think you will like them. We love them for cheese, and soups.

What a day. I cooked some major goodies for the family today but have basically stayed away from them. I did have a big bite of dump cake. It's so hard sometimes to cook and not be tempted. But the meatloaf was really good and I filled up on that. The good news is I'm at my mom's and stayed out of the chips! :) We found a new whole wheat bread that has almonds in it. Totally delicious and legal. We used it to make tomato and onion sandwiches for lunch.

Jack-K..no I haven't been totally legal but I'm trying. And I'm walking or doing something everyday so far this week. I wonder if what mama had done is similiar to what you have done to your back. She can't tell a big difference yet. They told her it might take a few days.

Heart...when you use pork and beans to make the baked beans you can drain them before you add your flavorings to them. It helps a lot. I agree with you about being able to eat off plan and then get back on track. I'm not there yet but I'm working on it...LOL Praying you have a fantastic time and then get right back with the program. :)

Flannel...I try to satisfy my sweet tooth with a cup of coffee with Splenda. If that doesn't work I have a bite of my sugar free candy bar. I keep it in the freezer so I'm not tempted to eat too much too often.

Bob...how is your shoulder doing?

Monet...I'm so jealous.. :) I LOVE collards.

Susan, Poncho, Toni, Zanesgrammy, Julia, Thin.......((Everybody))

We are staying over at mom's tonight because Tator got stung by a hornet yesterday and his little hand still looks like a baseball. He's going to the Dr. in the morning. Poor little fella was in a pretty good deal of pain but the pain seems much better now. I'll try to get on here tomorrow. If not I'll see ya'll when I get back to the house.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Hi guys! I don't have any time for replies this week. Our trip to Upper Canada Village was awesome...except I was daunted by a looming headache all day and kept popping a motrin every 3-4 hours. But I guess the huge dose of sun and warm weather all at once (it was a beautiful day...blazing sun and in the 80's!!) blasting on my head all day helped my headache progress past the motrin. So, on the bus ride home I sat across the aisle from my DD and her best friend, and in front of the most obnoxious boy ever created by God. It was like sitting in front of a monkey. So, by the time I got home, my headache was bad, then my DH went out to mow the lawn and it sounded like he was mowing my head!! I swear my head felt like my skull was cracking in half. All I could do was go to bed, close the blinds and windows and put my head under the covers and pray for darkness and silence. It was horrible.

Anyhow...yesterday I was fine and had to go grocery shopping and Girl Scout shopping for our camping trip today. The weather calls for near 80 and totally sunny all weekend. I'm so excited. So, I asked the woman in charge of the encampment about tents and she said that I'm not allowed to sleep in the same tent as the girls...you know..in a creepy Michael Jackson kind of thing. I was planning on bunking with the girls because I thought they'd be scared, but wasn't looking forward to it AT ALL. At my DD's sleepover, they all were farting so much I went through half a can of Glade! They're so gross when they want to be. So, I have my pup tent up and airing out in my backyard for my little private escape pod from the stinky girls and now I can leave my half can of Glade home. :lol3: And I got a bunch of plastic boondagle stuff so I can do my boondagle demo tomorrow for all the troops. We'll be doing star gazing tonight with a professional star gazing person (I guess that would be called an astronomer, right? ) And we'll be going to the Nature Center hiking and swimming in the not-so-long-ago frozen river. Heck, I'm bringing my bathing suit and if it's hot enough, I'll jump in. I don't know what the exact water temp is, but I usually don't venture in it till July sometime. I also have s'mores stuff, and lots of fruit and carrot sticks...but I'll be mostly not dieting this weekend. It'll just be too hard. One mom is sendign along rice krispy treats...between that and the s'mores, I'm history. Oh, and then there'll be the big bonfire and singing kum bayah (sp) and all that good stuff. We made some really nice situpons at our last meeting out of flowery cotton camo material with leftover batting/stuffing from our pillow and quilt projects we've done all year. It'll be so much fun, I just can't wait. Oh, and most importantly, I bought myself a big, denim floppy hat to wear around. I'll look like the geek of the universe, but hopefully I'll avoid another migraine. :dizzy:

Anyhow...I've just been scanning the board and wanted to leave FLANNEL a little tip or two. First of all, welcome to the boards!! I'm usually much more active, but June is one of those months for me :( ... Second of all...I'd do what most everyone here is telling you. Go COLD TURKEY with the sweets. I was once a sugar holic and made a pie every weekend, ate ice cream almost every single day. No meal was prepared without some sort of white potato or rice product. The only way to get over it is to just STOP and go one day at a time...one meal at a time...one snack at a time. Trust me, if you have, say, some baked chicken with a nice big green salad with hard boiled eggs and all the fixins for dinner and wash it down with some ice water, you will feel the difference after just one meal! If I eat a meal with the 'bad' stuff, I feel stuffed and uncomfortable...if I have a meal like I just said, salad and chicken...I feel replenished and satisfied. You will, too. Check out our menus for ideas on what to have. I'll list mine after this post to give you an idea. As for a quick sugar fix...AFTER you go cold turkey for a week...I like the sugar free Russel Stover candy. It's VERY good and yo ucannot tell it's sugar free. BUT, it gives me really bad gas :o I don't know why. So, I have it sparingly for a treat. I also have SF pudding...even though it's not completely legal with the starches, but it's better than something illegal like a candy bar or ice cream. And it really does the trick iwth some whipped cream in a can. But at any rate...try really hard to get over the sugar thing. Reason being is that if you love your sugary things, then that may be just the thing you need to cut out that is making you not happy with your weight! Everyone has something that they know that is keeping them 'fluffy'...the trick is finding that something and with you (and me!!), it sounds like sugar is your culprit. DON'T let it control you or keep you from being the way you want to be. Overcome it. Do you smoke or have you ever smoked and had to quit? It's almost as bad...but YOU CAN DO IT!! And we'll be here to help you all the way. One thing that REALLY REALLY helps is to keep a journal of everything you eat. Everything. Even gum! If you don't want to have to write it down in you're journal, then you shouldn't be eating it and you'll be swayed to NOT eat it. At first, I used this forum as a place to make my food journal. Not only was it helping me to keep track of what I was eating, but it was passed by the 'professionals' on the board here and they would tell me if I was eating too much grains or 'starchy carbs' or if I should be incorporating more veggies and more water, etc. We're here to help!! This is an awesome group to hold your hand through the tough spots. I hope you give it a try!!

Okay...I have to go spray my tent with more Lysol. It's been in the barn all winter and it's pretty musty. :( And I have laundry to do so we can have our shorts and bathing suits clean. At least all my summer clothes are big on my this summer instead of too small like usual!! I was walking yesterday and my size 14's were sliding down my butt!! I'm still in the 160's (like about 161), but it's the inches that count in the end, I think!! ;)

Okay...have a great weekend everyone...I'll talk individual replies next week!!

Wish me luck with my girl scouts!! Kris

Dinner: Pork chops and salad (romaine, red peppers, tomatoes, cukes, etc) with Thousand Island dressing (which is named for the area I live in, did you know...it was created in the Thousand Islands Inn about a hundred years ago or so in Clayton...where Viggo's mom lives)

hey, i got a question.. is V8 considered a good thing to drink for sugar addicts? I have about 4 or 5 of these every week and was wondering WHY i like them. Doesn't it seem like an unusual think to like? at least for someone who drowns herself in sugar?

one other question. I'm having a tough time getting used to this board. I know it's silly if you already used to it but I have looked around for other boards that deal with the same thing but I haven't had much luck. Can anybody point me towards one? I hope that's not a problem

thanks!

Good afternoon,

Today we are supposed to have little or no rain so I am keeping my finger-crossed. This morning, Jess woke up coughing non-stop for a while so she woke up before 7am. I sent her to watch a little of her fav PBS shows while I took a little more rest...lol. Finally get myself up at 8am to make her some breakfast and then went back to lay down for another half hour. After breakfast, Jess and I went out to pull some weeds. Gosh, the weeds grew so much after the last 4 days rain. Darn weeds! I really can't keep up with them. Dh and I managed to put in some more daylilies that I have bought since last week but didn't manage to put in into the ground because of the rain. Still have more to do tomorrow. I really have a big yard...too big really :(

Menu for today :

Breakfast : Spinach, mushrooms and sausage omelette, 1 ww waffle and 1 cup of
soymilk.

Snack : Few pieces of watermelon (not legal in SB)

Lunch : Spaghetti (semolina) and meatballs and mixed green salad with
tomatoes, cucumbers and onions.

Snack : Plain yogurt with some fresh fruits mixed in. Will be sweetened with 1
tsp of Agave.

Dinner : Leftover spaghetti..which I will stir-fry it with some chicken and
lots of veggies like nappa cabbage, bell-peppers, onions and mushrooms.

Few hours before bedtime : 1 cup of soymilk.

Some replies :

FILLISE : Thanks for the baked beans recipe. I saved it on file so I can make it next time when I am not so lazy :)

HEART : I found the LC potatoes in Publix next to the rest of the white potatoes. I don't remember if I ever make a pork stew before but I will probably make it like how I make my beef stew. Onions, celery, carrots, pork cubes, thyme, fresh parlsey, 2 to 3 bay leaves, 1 cup of white wine (red wine will work too), chicken stock, salt and pepper, lots of chopped garlic, mushrooms (I put in half an hour to 1 hr before the stew is done), and maybe even some green peas after I turn the heat off. Some people put some chopped tomatoes as well. It really depends what you like. I also make an asian version of stew which I used for braising ribs. It is not totally legal as it contains a little Hoisin and oyster sauce. I don't use a lot of it so I don't worry too much about it considering the amount I use for the big pot of ribs I made. You can also make your pork stew mexican style with mexican spices. As Monet suggested, plain yogurt with fresh fruits are pretty good. I eat them all the time. I cut up some fresh strawberries, grapes, blueberries and mandarin orange slices (whatever fruits you have) and add my plain fat free yogurt in with 1 to 1.5 tsp of Agave. Mix them together and enjoy. Splenda will work too. I make a big batch for Jess and dh as well. The fresh fruits are really yummy and refreshing.

PANCHO : Hope you are having a good day today. I love chatting with women, it is so much fun because we always talk about issues at heart unlike with men. Cars, computers, business, hi-tech stuff, movies, games etc...blehhh...lol.

JACK : Capers are awesome. I usually put some in my baked fish. They add more punch to the dish. I also make an italian pasta dish called, "Pasta Putasnesca" which is absolutely yummy and the recipe calls for capers which makes the dish more yummy. Jess loves them. I was lazy yesterday so didn't manage to clean my toilets, hopefully today. How fun :(

TONI : I love Ryan too but haven't been there for ages. Dh and I used to go there when we first got married. We were buffet king and queen back then but now we de-throne ourselves...lol. Great choices yesterday..you are doing great!

BOB : How's the weather there? The sun is trying to come out here...what a relief :)

THIN : Chicken and black beans sounds yummy. Don't forget to post the recipe at the recipe board. I am constantly looking to try new recipes. If you are starting out on fish, tilapia is definitely a good choice plus it is easy to find. My fav is "Basa fish" which is not so easy to find. So far, I have seen it at Publix (frozen section only) and one time at a farmer's market I used to frequent. Basa is very light, mild, flaky and tender and it will taste good anyway you cook it. I love fish and have to eat it at least twice a week. Next favourite is shrimps. You are better off buying them frozen instead of the ones that you saw on the fresh seafood area. They thawed the shrimps to sell anyway. One of the food network expert said that unless you live close to the sea, frozen seafood is the next best thing as they freezed it right after they caught them. I have some recipes for fish whenever you are ready to try them.

COUNTRY : Great job on resisting the food temptations yesterday. How's Tator doing? I have some wasp, yellow jackets etc live around our house and I am trying to avoid them as much as I can. Dh us trying hard to not let them make nests on our house like underneath the roof etc.

TECH : I had fun ready your post today. Boyyy...you have some busy schedule ahead of you but sounds very fun. You are better off not sleeping with the girls...lol. What happened to good manners??? ROTFLOL!!!

Oh, I must share this with all of you. I am so proud of this little girl of mine. Yesterday we had our quiet time and she was in a room making noises here and there. She told me that she was going to tidy up her room and I thought to myself...yea right but praised her anyway...lol. She was in and out of her room, putting things away for over an hour. Then she finally came in and said she was ready for me to see the surprise. I went to her room and I saw her bed (big full size bed) was made up, the clothes on the floor that I haven't folded yet but she folded them for me and put them into their respective drawers, she arranged her clothes in the drawers soooo nicely, picked up the toys on the floors etc. Boyyy....her room looks amazing!! When we both cleaned her room together, it didn't look this neat either. I was soo impressed that I was lost for words. My little messy girl did such a great job to please me!!! Yes, she was so happy to see my expression and how pleased I was. She kept asking me the whole day if I was pleased with her cleaning the room. I kept praising her as I see how important my comments especially my praises are to her. I know this cleaning spree was not an everyday thing for her but every effort she tries (especially by herself without me nagging...lol) is so wonderful. I do encourage her to clean her room on a regular basis but I do not expect her to clean her room as well as she did yesterday. That moment yesterday was priceless and very teary for me. I had to make sure I showed daddy her drawers this morning. Dh was very impressed as well. Thinking of Jess always make me teary, she has enriched my life so much she had no idea :)

Got to go take a little rest while Jess has her "quiet" time. Will check in later.

TMM : You can try "Sweetalk Plus" which has a much older layout which I love. It is a great board but the people there are not as close as they are on this board. "Trolls" often come to stir up things there but overall it is not a bad board. It does have an easier and simpler format, if that is what you are looking for. Btw, what is the hardest thing for you to get used to...as far as the format on this board? Maybe we can help you simplify it if we know of a way. You can access Sweetalk plus from www.sugarbusters.com. Best wishes :)

Hey ya'll! No rain yet today, but still overcast. It's supposed to be partly sunny tomorrow. I will not know what to think!

I got the recipe off the box of barley. It was wonderful.

Chicken barley chili

14.5 oz can tomatoes, diced, undrained (may use seasoned tomatoes)
16oz can tomato sauce
14.5oz can fat free chicken broth
3 cups water
1cup barley
1tablespoon chili pwd.
1 teaspoon cumin
15 oz can black beans drained and rinsed
15 oz can corn or corn with peppers (I may cut this down next time!)
3 cups chicken breats cooked and cut into bite size pieces
reduced or fat free sour cream or cheddar cheese optional

combine first seven ingredients and bring to a boil. cover and reduce heat to low. simmer for 20min, stirring occasionally. add beans, corn and chicken; increase heat until chili comes to a boil. cover and reduce heat to low. simmer for another 5 min. add more chicken broth or water until chili is desired consistancy. top with sour cream or cheese if desired. makes 11 1cup servings.
1 cup= 268 calories, 3.6 g fat, cholesterol 59.6 mg, sodium 698 mg.,
carbs 27g, fiber 4.7g, protein 32g
the consistancy was fine for us, we like it a little thick! :T

Well I'll go now and get some house work done. Oh Boy!!!

Good afternoon ladies.

It has taken me all afternoon to get here. So far so good OP. The scale has gone done 12 pounds this week. Isn't that bizzare? I know it is water, but still it is strange that you can retain that much water.

I need some prayers. My DH is have some prostate problems and I am near panic stage. Can't get into the dr until the 14th. I'll be a basket case by then.

We have 2 graduation parties tomorrow. One which I don't want to attend at all. We will see. I will be legal though. I'm sure it will be the usual fare, ham/turkey/bbq. I'll eat lots of veggies and fruits. I do't have to worry about the cake. I don't mind passing on that. Plus I'm not in the mood to eat much anyway.

It is pouring rain here. There is chances of storms all weekend and next week. I want summer and sunshine.

Toni, you did a good job at lunch. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can and you can always just count the rye bread as your starchy carbs for the day. You are a good friend to go with your friend for her exam. Have a great weekend.

Monet, I threw away all the potatoe salad, pasta salad and baked beans. I hated to do it but did not want the temptation and didn't know when we would get around to eating it again.

Bob, I just heard last night that the hurricane season this year is supposed to be worse than last. Brother, how much can Florida take.

Thin, it's nice to run into a clerk that is so helpful and understanding. It will be hard for DS to make good choices when he is with friends. But once in the mode of eating right, he may make better ones.

Heart, good luck at the reunion, just keep thinking about gaining wt and really decide if what you eat is worth it. Do you have to take a dish? Make it something you can eat.

Crystal, good job staying away from all that good cooking you did. Sure hoep Tator doesn't have any trouble from the sting. Is he allergic? Hornets are nasty stings.

Kris, have a great time with the girls. Watch out for the rice krispie treats, they are my downfall too. Sorry about your bad headache and the bad kid.

Tmmgee, Sweettalkplus.com is another board. It's where I started but prefer this one 100% more.

Julia, how sweet about Jess cleaning her room. Hopefully she will develop good habits from all the praise. I have one like that and one not like that.

Have a great weekend. Talk to you all Monday.

I am back again...feel better since there is no rain today.

THIN : Thanks for the recipe, looks yummy. Isn't it nice or is it weird to not have rain today?? lol. Love it!

JACK : Sorry about your dh, hope it is nothing close to serious at all. Waiting for appointment is the hardest, I will certainly keep him in my prayers.

TONI : I am here!! I am here!! LOL. Isn't it strange how we feel about a message board...like it is a room where friends come together to chit-chat. I love message boards, they have helped me thru many loneliness and hard times. Menu looks great....yum!

Okay, got to go visit my "second" home..."Lowes"...lol. It seems like I have been going there so many times lately that I feel like it is my second home. The people there probably is sicked of me by now....lol.

I Love V-8 too - and I think because there is so much salt in it! However, I would think its ok on SB.

I agree that this board takes "some getting use to" because it is one string/thread. You really have to dig to find a response to a topic. IE, the V-8 question - I answered it, but it was about 20 replies away from the original question.

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA today. I went to Walmart early this morning for 100% whole wheat buns, got a few other things for the party tomorrow, then went straight to the church office to do the worship guides. Got home, and Laura was in a talkative mood. She wanted to vent about a few things that have been going on, and I needed to listen. When she was done, we started painting the bathroom with Kilz2 to cover the dark yellow and ready the walls for the minty green. :) Then, realizing we did not have a paint roller or tray, I had had to run out to Home Depot and get some. What irks me is that I walked by them in Walmart this morning and thought about getting one, but did not.

Not much else is going on...

Menu: 2 eggs, four bacon, water for breakfast, lunch was a ham and cheese sandwich with radish sprouts, and a diet coke. Dinner tonight will be sole filets, probably pan fried, and some veggies...maybe asparagus.

I have beans soaking to make baked beans in the pressure cooker. It only takes about 6 minutes, so why not? I plan to serve them tomorrow. I am SO far behind on stuff to do, I will probably be up all night. :(

I will check in later...

FRIDAY FUNNY

Toward the end of the service, the Minister asked, "How many of you have forgiven your enemies?"

80% held up their hands.

The Minister then repeated his question. All responded this time, except one small elderly lady .

"Mrs. Jones? Are you not willing to forgive your enemies? "

"I don't have any." She replied, smiling sweetly.

"Mrs. Jones, that is very unusual. How old are you?"

"Ninety-eight." she replied.

"Oh, Mrs. Jones, would you please come down in front & tell us all how a person can live ninety-eight years and not have an enemy in the world?"

The little sweetheart of a lady tottered down the aisle, faced the congregation, and said:

"I outlived the *****es."

Btw, what is the hardest thing for you to get used to...as far as the format on this board? Maybe we can help you simplify it if we know of a way. You can access Sweetalk plus from www.sugarbusters.com. Best wishes :)

Julia

It's having to read 5+ pages to feel like i'm 'up to date' There's no way I have time to read that much in one sitting. Plus I like to pick and choose what I read and not HAVE to read all of it to be sure i'm not missing an answer to a question i found interesting 15 posts prior, know what I mean? My attention span is not good enough (prolly due to sugar addiction!) to follow 10 conversations at the same time. There's a reason I never liked to get my mailing list emails in digest format! LOL!

Hey, guys. Whew, I'm finally home and unwinding. Man, it's been a day. First, the good news is that the scale was down 2 from yesterday, 165. Still 6 more to be back at my low of 159. I ate a late bf so I made it hearty to make it thru my day. I took wayyy too long in town today. I had so many temptations to battle today and it didn't help that Boogie kept grabbing at cookies, cakes, etc...but I didn't give in! But lunch was skipped, so I was ravenous by this evening. Boogie and I went to Lapinata and I had chicken fajitas without the tortillas(also passed on the chips), side beans with cheese, guacomole, and sour cream. I was soooo stuffed afterwards. I still feel guilty eating that although "legal." I literally ate every bite and so did Boogie. Afterwards, I wanted something sweet, but just the taste. So I had 4 sf lifesavers which did the trick. Unfortuntely, I now have gas from them, lol. For some reason, I've been swelling the past couple of hours. I will be upset if the scale reads above 165 tomorrow. Yes, I know it will only be fluid retention, but it still will be disheartening. Alright, I'm getting tired...

Menu:

Late bf(10:30)- 2 eggs, 2 sl bacon, 1 sl buttered toast and 1 cup skim milk
Supper- chicken fajitas with beans and cheese plus all toppings(no tortillas)
Dessert- 4 sf lifesavers

Oh yea, I had wayyy too many diet cokes, which may have something to do with my swelling?

Jack-k- Wow, 12 pounds. It sucks being the lucky one to retain fluid. I've taken off 7 myself since Tues AM. I know that at least 4 of that was strictly fluid.

Evening everyone! Dinner was some of the baked beans, pan fried sole filet, and brussel sprouts cooked in the pressure cooker. Tom likes them really well done and they were perfect! :)

Tonight, the wall board went up over the holes in the wall in the hall bathroom. If Tom can get it spackled tonight and then primed, he will be able to re-seat the toilet before the party at 1pm tomorrow! The house is a wreck because I have been busy with other things, so I am going to be one busy girl tomorrow. :( I am praying for sunshine! That way, everyone can be outside! I need to get off here and get busy, so I will check in tomorrow night if I get a chance...if not, it will be Sunday before I can get back! :) I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Just popping in to say howdy. We're having a nice week end. Its really warm here today. So I'm staying tucked inside with the air cond. I hope next week end we get busy on some projects around here. B- breakfast bar L- LC soup and grilled swiss cheese sand. D- grilled pork chop, salad and asparagus. Better go get me some water to drink. I'm really lax on it today.
