What is her most strenuous video? I have the 4 mile tape, and I've outgrown it. A shorter, more intense tape would be great. Has anybody used Walk and Kick or Walk and Jog?
Fitness Videos - Leslie SansoneView Full Version : Leslie Sansone Jennifer 3FC 05-29-2005, 05:53 PM What is her most strenuous video? I have the 4 mile tape, and I've outgrown it. A shorter, more intense tape would be great. Has anybody used Walk and Kick or Walk and Jog? Amarantha 05-29-2005, 08:46 PM I'm not much help, even though I have every tape she ever made, when I was heavier, it was the only exercise I could do. I just gave away a bunch of 'em as I don't use a vcr anymore. Dunno what they are all called as really, they are kind of similar to each other, even the newer ones. I kid you not, but I believe the most intense one she ever made was one for adults over 40 that was made many years ago. There was also a really vintage walk 'n jog one with her employees at the fitness studio where she started her business. They all wore psychedelic colors and it was somewhat intense. Really, her vids are interchangeable, IMO ... it's not a criticism, I really enjoy her. Some are a bit more intense than others, but the key is to get ones you enjoy (she makes me feel cheerful, which is no small accomplishment) and add your own intensity. When she walks, you jog double time ... add heavier weights, that kind of thing. The strength of her vids is adding extras is easy to do because the movements are so basic and you don't have to concentrate. Theotoks 05-30-2005, 07:39 PM Walk and Kick and Walk and Jog are not very strenuous, alas. I have moved on to Charlene Prickett low impact videos (Less Impact, More Results) and the Walking for Weight Loss video with Madeleine Lewis. Jennifer 3FC 05-30-2005, 09:52 PM Thanks! I've never heard of either of these women. aphil 06-01-2005, 01:17 PM Charlene has a LOT of strenuous strength training vids and step aerobics vids. Walk & Jog with Leslie Sansone is a 2 1/2 mile video-but you are doing 2 1/2 miles in 30 minutes instead of the usual 2 miles in 30-because of the jogging intervals. It is a little more intense due to those. I would recommend for Walk & Jog-a nice supportive sports bra. ;) AnnieRN 06-15-2005, 08:19 PM Leslie is my favorite, though I don't have THAT many vids yet. I've only just begun this journey 4 or so weeks ago. At any rate, I've the combo disc set (1, 2, and 3 miles), plus just bought her Walk and Kick. For a beginner like myself, I thought it was a pretty good workout. I also have the "Extreme Makeover Fitness" vid. I haven't tried it out yet, but there are several different aspects to the workout. Amazon link and reviews (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002YLCJW/qid=1118877382/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-8594644-8449715?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846) I also just purchased the Jane Fonda Collection. I have done the toning and sculpting section, and it's very good for beginners. She's great at showing you correct form, etc. Jane Fonda and buyer reviews (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007LBM3Q/qid=1118877445/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-8594644-8449715?v=glance&s=dvd) I may check out Charlene Prickett and Madeline Lewis. :D Jessie_777 06-18-2005, 10:51 PM I'm just starting out and have done one of her mile ones and a mile and a half one (off of my on demand cable thingy). They were a good workout for me right now. Which one is a good one to buy? aphil 06-22-2005, 08:42 AM Some good Leslie walking videos for beginners are: Her Sun and Moon set, which contains: ~Morning Mile plus abs ~Evening Mile plus legs The morning one is about 25 minutes long, and the evening one is about 35 minutes. They are each a 1 mile walk with a 10 minute toning segment at the end. The evening walk is a little less "fast" since you are closer to bedtime. The morning one you can use optional 1 or 2 pound weights or weighted balls for the cardio. This set is available at her website or at Collage Video website. Some of these videos are in "sets" with other videos, or you can look them up by themselves on Ebay: ~Walk Away The Pounds "Get Up and Get Started" This is a 1 mile walk, 20 minutes long, and you can use the optional 1 or 2 pound weights or balls for the last half of it. Find it alone on Ebay, or you can find it online at Amazon.com, or in the 2-3 dvd set at Collage Video or Best Buy. (The 2 or 3 dvd sets it comes with the 2 and 3 mile workout in the same series-High Calorie Burn 2 Mile, and Super Fat Burning 3 Mile) ~Walk Diet dvd This is available on Amazon.com, it was originally sold through Avon. These are all good videos for beginners. Athenaphoenix 06-22-2005, 12:04 PM There is another Leslie 4 mile video that is a bit more strenous that I got from Collage Video. It's called Power Walk 4 Mile I believe. It works the arms a lot more, but the quality is not fantastic. I alternate that one and the 4 Mile Express and doing that makes me drip with sweat still LOL. The Walk and Kick is not very strenous, I agree. It's a nice one to do on an off day just so you don't feel guilty for not exercising. Tina Marie 07-05-2005, 04:44 PM I have both Leslie's sets of videos and love them very much. Tina Marie 07-05-2005, 04:56 PM Ok I set up a ticker like everyone else has but don't know how to get it to show up when I post any help on this would be appreciated.Tina pixiefalls 08-02-2005, 12:55 AM I just bought Walk Away the Pounds (power series) and it's an express work out. It's a one mile brisk walk with leg kicks and kick backs.. oh and weights too. I did that twice tonight and it made me feel good and it got me sweating and my heart rate up.. so that's good. mezmerize 08-15-2005, 03:08 PM Hello and thanks in advance for anwering my questions. I just purchased Leslie Sansones - Walk Away The Pounds - Walk And Jog. I read that this is a 2.5 Mile walk. I also got Leslie Sansones - Walk Away The Pounds - Walk And Kick does anyone know if this is a 1 mile or more? I'm looking into getting the Walk and Abs . I like to keep track of miles walked so any help you could give me would be great! Thanks again Michele L 08-15-2005, 09:34 PM Walk and Kick is a 2 mile workout. I love to keep track of my miles, too! The Abs series is great! I also love the Express set with the stretchie band. I'm a Leslie Sansone addict (at least that's what hubby would say!). I have about 15 tapes and DVD's and still get more from ebay. Happy walking! Michele  cathyxxx 08-16-2005, 11:22 AM Jennifer - I can't believe I am just now seeing this post. I love Leslie Sansone and her videos. I think I have most of them. A few months ago I added the Walk & Jog and the the Walk & Kick to my collection. I like the Walk and Jog bec you get in 2 1/2 miles in 30 minutes. But I find the Walk and Kick more intense. Maybe it's bec it's different moves but I sweat more and breath harder on that video than any of the others. I like them both! And when you want to do 60 minutes of exercise - I think that they are 2 great videos to put together and do back to back. Believe you me - you will be worn out after doing both of those in 60 minutes. Please let us know if you tried them and what you think. hugs, Cathy Scorpio Moon 08-17-2005, 04:58 PM I've been using Leslie's videos for years. A few things I have learned: -Her older workouts are much more difficult and have much more variety than the WATP series. -For a new and different kind of challenge, try Walk Strong (which has strength training intervals between the usual walking routines). -While it's not quite as fast paced as Walk Jog, Heart Healthy Walk is a challenging workout as well. -If you like Leslie and want to stick with her videos, there will come a time when you'll have to get creative and make the workout your own. As an example, when I am doing the 2-mile walk from the original WATP series, I will jog in place when she is walking in place. Or, I will have my step in front of me and do step ups while she is walking in place Michele L 08-18-2005, 09:40 AM I agree with you, Scorpio. You have to make adjustments (higher or lower) for YOU, and it may change from day to day! About Walk Strong: The original one (green box, uses weights) is MUCH more challenging than the newer one (Express, uses stretchie). I did that one for the first time last week, and my legs were sore for 3 days!!! There are lots of lunges of all sorts, and holding the weights REALLY pushes you! Happy walking! Michele  kellyjoiii 08-18-2005, 10:21 AM Hi guys.. I just wanted to chime in. I purchased the walk jog and I LOVE IT. I do it and then hop on my gazelle for 22 mins so that I have 50 mins in for the day. I would love to purchase more but want a treadmill so wont justify buying more exercise things. but I love the walk and jog (with a VERY supportive bra)! fdevine 08-19-2005, 11:29 AM Hi, I have Leslie's 2-mile walk and also the Walk and Firm for Older Adults. For those who are older, or way out of shape (I'm both), these are great. Frances Star 08-19-2005, 11:37 AM I love Leslie's tapes, they are fast and to the point. Anything with jane fonda's name on it I would never purchase. mnl1010 08-23-2005, 08:20 PM I LOVE Leslie's tapes! All are great, and I also have her walkblaster. It really works your legs. I would have to say the walk strong is very challenging. I have been walking with her for a long time, and that one still makes me sore! kittiebabyh 12-10-2005, 09:23 PM I have leslie's 2 mile walk strong video. Does anybody else have the video and do they like it. lucky_me 12-12-2005, 10:32 AM I have been doing Walk Away The Pounds, the 1, 2, and 3 mile set but it is starting to get a little too easy- I love Leslie though. :) Anyone have any suggestions as to which video or two I could move on to so it would be a little more of a challenege? cathyxxx 12-12-2005, 11:45 AM Kittie - I have the walk strong video and it is probably one of my least favorite. I don't think I like breaking up the walking with the weights??? Kristina - if you want to stick with 30 minute workouts I would move up to the Walk & Kick or Walk & Jog videos. They are great and definitely more challenging! or you could do her 4 mile video if you want to do a 60 minute workout. hugs, Cathy lucky_me 12-12-2005, 02:00 PM Kristina - if you want to stick with 30 minute workouts I would move up to the Walk & Kick or Walk & Jog videos. They are great and definitely more challenging! or you could do her 4 mile video if you want to do a 60 minute workout. Thanks! I will have to look for those, I always get them off of www.half.com - you can get them for like $6-7 and then if you get tired of your videos, you could always sell them too. =) cathyxxx 12-12-2005, 03:29 PM Kristina - I've never heard of half.com but just checked it out. pretty cool place. I was wondering, are they used videos? is that why they are cheaper? thanks, Cathy lucky_me 12-12-2005, 07:14 PM Cathy - Umm... it depends. Some of them are, but some of them you can buy brand new. It is pretty cool. I always buy them new- I believe it is just like some private company buying them in bulk and re-selling them. I ordered my Walk Away the Pounds and a couple of other things that way and they all came in their original packaging and shrink-wrap. It's a company off of E-bay and usually, it's cheaper than bidding on it and you don't have to wait for an auction to end. :) A Georgia Girl 12-13-2005, 04:40 PM Question... I've never tried any of Leslie Sansone's videos, but because of the feedback I'm interested in trying. Are these videos basically walking in your home? Walking in place and stuff? Currently I am working out to Richard Simmon's Blast off to the 80's and I love it. But I get bored with the same old routine, so I was looking for a video that I could use on days when I'm not in the mood to 'sparkle' for Richard. Thanks. :carrot: lucky_me 12-16-2005, 02:21 AM Georgia- Yeah, I like the videos a lot because it is just a simple walk at home video. There are a few to choose from so you can work up to them or make a little routine. A lot of it is just walking, but she will throw in some different moves to work different muscle groups and raise the heart rate. I would definately suggest it. I am really picky about my workout videos for some reason and I really like it. ;) Autumn Night 12-30-2005, 06:54 PM Please note, I am editing this message to remove an external link. I do not want to violate the policies of this website. I started out with the Walk Away the Pounds for Abs one, two, and three mile VHS tape set. It includes a belt that has surgical tubing cords with handles attached. The workouts are more intense using the stretchy cords than just following the moves without. However, overall the workouts are too easy for me. I also bought a DVD with two of her old workouts from the Walk Aerobics program. The sets, costumes, and music are very dated, but the workouts are more vigorous than the newer videos I have. For those of you who like to walk outside or on a treadmill, I would like to recommend a great walking CD. It's from Healthy Living Hit Music. I bought the Walking Music Greatest Hits Volume 1 for the intermediate level walk. It has two thirty-minute walking segments with a cool down song after each segment. I found it in the fitness equipment section at Walmart for $10. It has a picture of Lesie Sansone on the cover. This is not a super instense workout, but it is so much more enjoyable to me than standing in front of the TV for every work out. The music is recent and some older top-forty type songs, and it really motivates me to pick up my pace and keep on walking! I plan on buying another CD when I am ready for the advanced level. Michele L 12-30-2005, 07:31 PM I just bought this CD today! I was so suprised to find some of Leslie's products in the sporting goods area of Walmart! And for under $10, it's a great addition to my treadmill walking! Michele  LindaK 01-13-2006, 12:02 PM I just bought one of Leslies cds and I want to know if anyone has really lost weight on walk the walk aphil 01-13-2006, 03:20 PM I used Leslie Sansone videos for my cardio, as part of my exercise regime, and it did help me lose weight. ANY exercise will help, but you have to do it. I think that is the true key. :) cathyxxx 01-17-2006, 03:33 PM Hey Gang  Did ya'll see that Leslie has a 5 mile video that should be released on January 23, 2006! You can watch a portion of it at collagevideo I don't know when in the world I would have time to do 5 miles, but it would be nice to have and I could always do whatever number of miles I had time for. I'm sure I'll be adding it to my collection. anybody else? Cathy aahhee 01-17-2006, 03:36 PM Has anyone used the Christain walk the walk dvd ? What is some of the music on it? Do you like it Michele L 01-17-2006, 03:40 PM [QUOTE=cathyxxx]Hey Gang  Did ya'll see that Leslie has a 5 mile video that should be released on January 23, 2006! I am a member of Leslie's Walk Club and it is already available in her store. I can't wait to get it! I don't think I will do all 5 miles very often (I rarely do the 4 mile Express), but it will be nice to have the option and to mix up the miles! Michele  cathyxxx 01-17-2006, 04:59 PM Hey aahhee - I have the Walk the Walk dvd. It has a 1 mile and 2 mile walk on it. I don't remember the exact songs it had on it, but it's just kind of upbeat hymns - not Praise music like I was thinking it would be. And it's kind of like her other videos where the music is just in the background. It's pretty low key. I haven't done it in a long time, but usually only used it on a morning where I had made myself get up early but could just barely drag myself around. Her other videos are more of a workout, but I think this one would be great for someone that is just starting out. I did notice that Walmart has this one out on dvd right now - I don't recall the price tho. Michele - that's awesome! so you already ordered it? and so you are a member of her walk club? do you do her walk diet there too? do you like the membership? Cathy Michele L 01-17-2006, 08:03 PM Cathy, I haven't ordered it yet, but I'm about to! I'm just debating on whether to get the new weights with it or not. I love the Walk Club. I don't always follow the Walk Diet, but I post my exercise (even if it's not her stuff) on a log she has for members. I am always reading and posting to the various forums and you get 15% off orders from her store. For $9.95 every 3 months, it's worth it to me to have friends I can commisserate with (especially if I'm losing motivation!).
