Weight Loss Surgery - Recovery Times

Hi Ladies
I went to the new patient seminar last night and have my first consultation with the dr for Roux en Y on 6/16.
I was wondering what your recovery times were I have only been at my job 3 months and am not sure if I'd get enough time off I have a desk job that's not phys demanding at all but If i have too I'll wait till feb when I'll be elegible for disability

hey there, Kier - the recovery time varies - the LEAST i've ever heard of was 2 weeks, for someone who had a desk job and could set his own hours. he wasn't back at work full time for a month, though.

most take at least 4 weeks. 6-8 is the expected amount of time for most people, though.

but look at it this way, by the time you go through all the preop testing, and the approvals, and the scheduling, it'll be awhile anyway...

Drs Abkin and Bertha I chose Dr Abkin I liked his demeanor and they have a complication rate of .5% I'm going to be able to work from home soon when I need too I just have to bargain a bit as to for how long

they're a good group. they've gotten very very big, but they're excellent. i like them because they measure the size of the outlet - they don't just guess at it. i think that's one of the reasons they have such good outcomes.
